2024.06.09 16:04 Peyrol1 best quality 4K upload to You Tube?

I have 178 seconds worth (@60 fps) of 3840x2160 png frames (10681 total) and a 178-second stereo mp3 music file from the Free Music Archive. My goal is to upload the highest possible quality video (both image and audio quality) so that the resulting YT product will look and sound its best. My OS is Linux Mint 21.3 with kernel 5.15. The man page for ffmpeg provides a lot of detail, and even has a sample command line for turning many frames into a video, but as a spoiled boomer I hope to be spoon-fed what the command line for my case should look like. Here's what I have so far:
ffmpeg -f image2 -framerate 60 -i ./frames4K/animated/L01game%05d.png -i ./music/musicfile.mp3 -frames:a 10681 -s 3840x2160 L01game4K.mp4
which I would execute within the parent folder of /frames4K and /music. But how do I specify the H.264 video codec? How do I specify the AAC-LC audio codec? Should my upload be HDR or SDR? What do those mean? How do I set a video bitrate of 53 to 68 Mbps? An audio bitrate of 384 kbps? Should I explicitly set the aspect ratio of 16:9? Do I need to set the color space to BT.709? All these specs are taken from the YouTube help page for "recommended upload encoding settings"
Most importantly, what did I completely miss? Thank you.

Chapter 10

Ethan surveyed the men before him, schooling his expression. Cedric was one of his advisors, a lean man, taller than the average in Holden, and wiry, but with the unmistakable long and callused fingers of someone well skilled with a bow. It was odd to see such features, but Ethan wasn’t one to point it out or talk about it. A perpetual worried crease etched between his brows; he shuffled a stack of parchments.
Beside him, Roland stood with a hand on the pommel of his sword—a habit Ethan had grown accustomed to. Leaning back, Ethan opened his mouth.
“Alright, gentlemen. Let’s get through this.”
Cedric cleared his throat. “First, my lord, the harvest report.” He unfolded the top parchment. “The rains were late this year, my lord. We’re looking at a significant shortfall in barley and oats.”
Ethan frowned. “Roland,” he switched focus. “The scouting report on the bandits? Has Sir Thomas revealed something? What about the brigands?”
“Sir Thomas has been tight-lipped. The brigands have been bolder, my lord. Spotted them harassing farmsteads near Holden’s western border.
“Have we identified the culprits?”
“No, my Lord. But they seem organized, well-equipped. Too well-equipped, I might say.”
Ethan drummed his fingers on the desk. This wasn’t your typical ragtag group of cutthroats, that much was clear. “Some sort of a group, then.”
“Yes.”
“Mobilize a patrol. Set a few archers down range. Kill the bandits on sight, we can’t have them acting bolder.”
Roland nodded, his chin bobbing, face emotionless.
“Any other news? Have we received word from the neighboring barons regarding the proposed trade agreement?” Ethan asked.
“Yes, my lord. Sir Jack informed me that one of his ravens returned this morning; he says they spotted two men bearing the crest of the crown—”
“Tax collectors,” Ethan interrupted. “They should already be in Siez by now, then.”
Siez was a city two weeks’ ride from Holden.
“Well then, we must do something about the harvest,” Ethan murmured. He had some ideas, but all of them would require money.
“As for trade... Everyone has denied, like usual. Lord Ashton has been with Holden since Lord Baelgard’s death, but even he appears hesitant now. Cites concerns about the quality of our goods.”
“Hmm. Excuses.” Ethan sighed. “He doesn’t want to work with us anymore. He’s likely receiving pressure; I don’t blame him. I’ve offended quite a lot of nobles in my... teen years.”
Ethan cleared his throat. “We’ll send another sample,” Ethan decided, his voice firm. “Along with a personal letter outlining the benefits of trade with Holden, only this time, including soap; I’m sure he’ll latch onto the opportunity if he has some foresight.”
Ashton was playing politics, but they couldn’t afford to alienate their only potential trading partner.
The rest of the morning was spent in a similar vein—discussing minor squabbles amongst the populace, a few dead bodies that were reported, potential repairs needed on the crumbling town walls, and other matters regarding Holden.
***
Ethan entered the space sectioned off by iron grills inside the quarantined house in the outskirts of Holden. Covering his in a mask, he stepped over the grills, into the open hall with rows of beds lining both sides. He was here to take a look at the patients and if they were getting treated. They were. Undoubtedly. Some even showed signs of recovery. They stood up spotting him, then bowed.
“Lord Theodore! What an honor!” A woman said, then burst into tears holding onto her daughter’s hand. “Thank you for letting me live, Lord.” She sobbed as she buried her face on the sleeping child.
Ethan frowned, feeling uncomfortable. They hadn’t gone past their third stages of the disease. They weren’t even on their second one. That was why it’d been easier to treat them.
“Yes, my lord,” a man joined them, speaking. “You’re the only noble that’s spared us peasants a glance. Truly, thank you.”
Feeling even more uncomfortable, Ethan gently placed a hand on his shoulder. “I only hope you all get better.”
They smiled as he smiled back through the mask. Ethan quickly made his way out, then furrowed his brows as he met Miller outside. “Miller, why have you not pulled out those that have recovered? Letting them stay inside would only get them infected again or cause their condition to worsen.”
Miller’s face turned white. “My—my lord, but—but we cannot just remove them!” He took a deep breath. “If we let them go, they could infect others in Holden. If those infected catch wind of their neighbors recovering, wouldn’t they try to force their way into quarantine just to get healed and recover?” His eyes turned shifty, showing some sort of apprehension and panic.
Ethan glared. “Miller, you’re smart, are you not?” He narrowed his eyes. “Get them out of here, as soon as possible. I ordered everyone infected be brought in, logistics be damned! I’m paying it out of my pockets! You need not worry about those that might be infected. What do you even mean? We’re constantly on the lookout, if we found someone, they’d be here already.”
“Yes, about that, my lord,” Miller said nervously, looking away. “People fear. Many would rather stay quiet than let others know if they’re infected. Plus, it’s easier said than done. My men would get attacked. Anyone can get killed easily, they’re not Classed. or a large horde of desperate people might push forward in an instant.”
Ethan didn’t say anything. Gulping, Miller continued.
“And, my men are too few. There are not enough men to patrol and get the affected. Not to mention people would riot against it, fearing their loved ones are getting slaughtered for some ritual and that there’s no salvation. Especially given that a few dead bodies have been found recently,” Miller bowed, swallowed. “Forgive me for saying this, my lord, but people do not trust you.”
Miller slumped against his chair, staring at the ceiling. Ethan silently took his seat, thinking over what Miller had said. In the end, he could only sigh. “Get every infected here, do not worry about aurums.” It costed a lot of money—aurums—to get people treated. However, it wasn’t that much. Taking a moment to gather his thoughts, Ethan changed the subject. “Miller,” Ethan said. “How’re tests going?”
Miller frowned, a finger on his chin as he hummed thoughtfully. “We’ve encountered an issue; mostly with the later stage tainted. We’d expected it, too, however, we need some kind of a solution.”
“What issue?”
“Their skin is rotting; we cannot just have them use soap and hot water to keep clean. There needs to be something to address their wounds directly, first.” Miller sighed. “A [Healer], perhaps. But they’re expensive, my Lord. I am not sure if that is what you would want. Not to mention, another issue is that Sir Jack has yet to build something he calls nexus—he says you would know what that is. He’s currently using himself as said nexus, but says he would need to talk to you on that matter later to figure out some solution.”
“Is that so?” Ethan hummed, reclining back into his chair. Hiring a [Healer] would indeed be a pain. He was already paying Jack quite the sum each day, not to mention the [Beast Tamer] he’d had to hire to take care of Wynd. If he were to hire a [Healer] now, it would make a dent on his pockets that he wouldn’t be able to recover from. Not to mention, he needed to worry more about the financial situation now—the tax collectors would be arriving sooner or later, and the Merchants Guild would want their debt paid with interest. He couldn’t be stuck in a rut of indebtedness forever.
That said, soap would be excellent for the majority of the populace, the only time there would be an issue would be when someone’s already at the stage where their flesh starts to rot. If there were something, he had to consider it*... Are there alternatives?*
Unlikely.
Ethan took a breath, then leaned back into his chair, steepling his hands. What do I currently need?
Money. Money would solve a lot of his issues. Ethan hummed, stood up, then turned on his heel and walked out. Before getting out, however, he looked over his shoulder. “Tell Jack to keep working on updating the base spell. Make it more efficient, if possible. Leave the rest to me.”
I’ll figure something out...
He needed to—he wanted to.
Roland stood outside the carriage, and as he saw Ethan approaching, he turned to him. “My Lord.”
“Roland, let’s go,” Ethan said, grabbing the carriage’s handle, pulling the door open, and climbing inside. “We have work to do.”
“As you wish, my Lord.”
Reclined against the cushioned seat of the carriage, Ethan hummed. The solution to getting more money was rather simple.
My masterpiece needs to hit the market. Ethan smiled.
***
Ethan settled into a routine; he’d wake up with the first rays of sunlight filtering through his window. He’d stretch, and feel the satisfying pops in his back before heading outside to find Wynd already waiting for him, tail wagging excitedly. They’d take a brisk run through the dewy field. Ethan would spend a good hour playing with Wynd. The [Beast Tamer] Grandma Millie had a natural connection with Wynd, and Ethan was learning to understand how to handle a wolf under her guidance. Ethan knew that Wynd wasn’t quite a normal magical beast, heck, he was sure that Wynd would sooner or later hit some kind of magical puberty that’ll sky rocket his intelligence and allow him to speak or whatever, but regardless of everything, learning how to handle him was a good move. He was, after all, quite like a pet right now.
Regardless, he’d practice the [Elemental Spells] he knew: fire and water.
One day, he finally leveled it up.
[Elemental Spells] — Lvl 9 -> Lvl 10!
Warning: Level cap for [Elemental Spells] reached; satisfy the conditions to upgrade [Elemental Spells].
Interesting. Ethan thought, rubbing his chin. However, given that there was no information, he was confused so as to how to satisfy said conditions. I will figure it out, he shrugged, for now, I need to learn the other elements first.
Aside from that particular day’s highlight, his routine would continue as usual. After a satisfying breakfast, it would be time to get down to business. He’d perfected the basic soap recipe, and now it was time to ramp up production. With the success in making the first batch of soap, and the thought of making money, quick, in his mind, he’d started working extra hard to get more soap made. He found himself busier than ever. He’d sit in there for hours and create rune motes after rune motes. One by one, they’d materialize on top of his palms, swirling tiny fireflies.
Just like usual, one particular day, he was creating rune motes.
Ten… twenty… thirty… his brow furrowed in concentration.
Forty… fifty… and then, sixty rune motes. [Basic Rune Creation] skill leveled up, too, and a satisfied grin spread across his face the two times it did level up.
[Basic Rune Creation] – Lvl 5 -> Lvl 6!
[Basic Rune Creation] – Lvl 6 -> Lvl 7!
The number of motes he could create and the speed at which he did it had noticeably improved after each level. It drained his mana reserves daily. He’d often find himself with a dull ache behind his eyes, but he’d pushed on regardless, ignoring the beginnings of a headache and sometimes it’d blow into a full-blown migraine due to his stubbornness.
One such afternoon, as he slumped, massaging his temples, an idea struck him.
“Meditation,” he murmured. Perhaps focusing his mind inward, like calming a churning lake, could help manage his mana pool. It was usually like that in those novels he used to read back in middle school.
The first few days were frustrating. He sat cross-legged on a cushion, eyes closed, trying to clear his mind, but his thoughts kept flitting back to the ever-growing pile of soap base and the dwindling supply of rune motes (Jack hadn’t disappointed him, after all; the man was fast and his money’s worth, if not more. In fact, Ethan found it harder to keep up). Just as he was getting frustrated, a warmth bloomed within him, a gentle hum that resonated deep within something he could only describe as a core. He cracked open his eyes, a surprised gasp escaping his lips.
A notification appeared before him.

2024.06.09 14:07 AmericanStoicism Upcoming Graduation

Hello
(I hope this doesn't violate rule 2. With my prior service, I do hope to consider myself to already have experience, and it has been my career of choice since then. If this is considering breaking in, I'm so sorry!)
I (28M) am finishing a bachelors in HR management at the end of this year. From 2016-2020 I was in the Navy as a personnel specialist (HR was the recommended field for skills in this role.) It mostly included updating, maintaining records, and regular changes in additional benefits, bonuses, special pay. Along with regular quality assurance, overpayment/underpayment corrections, drafting debt letters, and managing payment plans for collection of overpayment. Onboarding/Offboarding/Separation from service, etc...
From 2021 to current, I work as an administrative assistant at a doctors office. I do regular administrative and clerical things. I correct claims and assist patients with billing and explanations of charges. I was promoted to assistant manager, where my role is the same with additional responsibilities like assisting, reviewing, and returning FMLA paperwork with the doctor for his patients. Along with now being the first level leader for a team of 8-9 front staff.
Thanks in advance to those who read all that. I hope I'm not oversharing. I just want to paint out my history so I can get the best advice possible for my situation.
The Question: What advice would you give someone with my experience. What are some things I can do now to set myself up for success? What are the first things I should do once I finish my bachelors degree? Do you have any specific advice for Michigan or Virginia (currently reside in Michigan moving to Virginia in 2 or so years).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wasn’t planning on updating again until after the baby was born, but a lot has happened since I last posted.
I found a very nice couple to adopt my unborn baby. They have two sons and one daughter already. My dad and lawyer did background checks and everything. They’re a nice family who want a large family. They have two biological children, but can no longer have any more, so, they want to adopt as many as they’re allowed. But unless I get their permission, that’s all I can tell you about them right now. I don’t know how much they want out there. But they said they would give their daughter any letter or note write to her once she reached fourteen or fifteen depending on when they think she’s ready and can comprehend everything.
I know a lot of people have been getting on me because I say uncle and aunt instead of aunt and uncle. I think someone even corrected me on that. I get aunt and uncle may sound better, but I say uncle first because he’s my dad’s brother and my aunt married in. If my aunt were my dad’s sister, I would say aunt first. Maybe that’s wrong, but that’s how I put it.
But getting to them. My uncle is in jail for getting drunk and then getting into a verbal fight with my dad and a physical fight with some people in public. My aunt is in a psychiatric ward after threatening suicide after I continued to deny her my unborn baby. It only got worse when she found out I found a couple.
My grandpa had a mild stroke and was temporarily placed in a different home than grandma. He sincerely apologized for saying everything he said and did, but still thinks I’m being ungrateful. Still, he said he supports my decision and won’t stop me.
My grandma apologized to dad but refused to look at me until a few days ago. She said she was sorry and that she understood that being a mother at fifteen is difficult. But that was why I should have let my uncle and aunt have my unborn baby. However, I’m going to be sixteen in two weeks, so I’ll be sixteen when my baby is born. So, seeing as I will be sixteen, I should be able to handle being a mother. Not only that, but this may be my only chance to have a baby. And that got me thinking about what if she’s right. What if this was my only chance? But I also know I’m not ready and that I would feel awful if I backed out of the adoption when I really liked the couple. So, my grandma is back to refusing to have anything to do with me.
I decided that if this was the only chance I got to be pregnant, then it’s just not meant to be. If I can’t have any babies in the future, I’ll get plenty of ice cream and maybe some more cats, dogs, hamsters, or whatever. I would love to be a mom in the future, but whatever happens, happens.
I’m just starting to become comfortable and my therapist says keeping the baby could throw everything off. But she also says it’s my choice.
I must be blind or really stupid because I didn’t realize my dad was gay (or bi) and that his best friend who is always over helping is actually his boyfriend. I didn’t know and just thought he was a very good friend. I accept them because they seem very happy together. And I believe love is love. However, I really wish I didn’t find out the way I did.
Short version: it was late at night and I got up to use the bathroom. I heard noises coming from my dad’s room that I didn’t recognize, so I went to investigate. And that’s where I’m leaving that.
My dad’s teaching assistant came over a few weeks ago and I met him. He’s very, very nice. He just turned nineteen. He knows I was attacked and that I’m putting the baby up for adoption. He also knows that certain family members are against it, but he doesn’t know any personal details. He asked me out on a date last week. Dad said fine, but it had to be supervised. My friends and their partners were supposed to go with.
The date was supposed to be Friday afternoon. However, I became sick and it only became worse as the days went by. Dad finally made me go to the ER Thursday night. I have two blood clots: a small one in my chest and a medium-sized one next to my right lung.
So, I’ve been stuck in the hospital since then. And I will be stuck here until they say the clots are manageable outside of the hospital. However, the nurses and one doctor recommended that because I am pregnant and am due soon, I should just stay in the hospital until after she is born. I don’t know how I feel about that. I don’t want to stay in the hospital any longer than I have to.
Originally I was told I was due at the end of July or beginning of August. Now they’re saying most likely July.
Please, can someone give me any advice because everyone I know is telling me to listen to the doctors.
My cats are still kittens and would destroy the cords, so they can’t be here. I feel like I’m losing my mind.
2024.06.09 13:46 mrpooooopy STD with UTI symptoms
UTI will show up on your STD test, or vice versa. The short answer is, no - each test is looking for a different type of bacteria or virus.
A typical UTI test will involve giving a urine sample at the doctor's office. Your sample is then sent to a lab where it’s tested using either a dipstick or cultures. The dipstick (or UTI test strip) is used to look for signs of infection, whereas a culture looks specifically for e.coli to confirm the presence of a UTI.
The MyUTI test is different: we analyze your sample for the top 12 symptom-causing UTI pathogens, check for antibiotic resistance and provide treatment recommendations. For more on the differences between testing options, download our UTI testing guide.
STD tests can require a urine sample, swab and/or blood sample, depending on what kind of infection you’re testing for. Urine and genital swabs are most often used to detect bacterial infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, bacterial vaginosis and syphilis - whereas blood samples can identify viruses and parasites. Herpes testing also requires a swab of the genital area that has an active lesion or outbreak.
Like a UTI test, your STD sample will be sent to a lab and put through testing to look for specific types of bacteria or viruses that specifically identify different STDs.
2024.06.09 13:45 Sadweek0 Buckshot roulette board game!
Buckshot roulette board game!
Hello high rollers! Here's my take on the fan made Buckshot roulette board game.
For the game you will need: - 8 live cards - 8 blank cards - 7 load cards - 2 decks of items (12 duplicate cards in each deck) - 12 heart tokens (6 for each player) - 16 item tokens (8 for each player) - The set of DnD dice (for percentage items) (Pt 1)
To make cards I would recommend you to draw them on paper and put into protectors. That way they will be more solid.
You can draw all cards according to the sample: (Pt 2)
Note that item cards are double sided. The face is the item itself while the back is the explanation what that item does: (Pt 3-4)
  • Beer: Discard the top card of the deck
  • Hand saw: Your next shot deals 2 damage instead of 1
  • Handcuffs: Your opponent skips his next turn (you can't use this more than 1 time per turn)
  • Cigarettes: Heal 1❤️ (you can't use this if your opponents ❤️ ≤ your ❤️)
  • Magnifying glass: Take a look at the top card of the deck
  • Inverter: Switch the next round (live to blank/blank to live)
  • Adrenalin: Steal an item from your opponent (use it immediately)
  • Burner phone: Number all cards in the deck than roll the respective dice. Take a look at the card that has a number of the dice result. If the dice result is > the amount of cards in the deck roll again.
  • Expired medicine: Roll: 1-3: heal 2❤️/4-6: take 1 damage (you can't use this if your opponents ❤️ ≤ your ❤️)
(Btw I added some of the fan cards)
  • Matchbox: put the live card at the bottom of the deck (you can't use this if the deck contains 8 cards in it)
  • Bear trap: Deal 1 damage to your opponent for every item he will use in his next turn (you can't use this more than 1 time per turn)
  • Flashlight: look at the cards in the deck than shuffle it.
After you made all cards it's for the game itself.
  1. Lay out all components as shown in the picture: (Pt 5)
(You can use any amount of items in the game you want)
  1. Before every load each player rolls d10 3 times. Players put their item tokens on the items depends on the rolls result. (If you roll 0 just roll again) For example: Player 1 rolled 2, 5, 7 and put item tokens on Hand saw, Magnifying glass and adrenalin. (Pt 6)
If you out of the item tokens you don't get items.
  1. Shuffle the load deck than draw 1 card from it. The shotgun will have the amount of rounds shown at the top of the load card. (Pt 7)
  2. Shuffle the shotgun deck.
  3. Choose who will go first by rolling the dice or playing rock, paper, scissors.
  4. Start the first turn.
At the each turn you can use unlimited amount of items. At the end of the turn you are forced to shoot either yourself or the opponent.
To shoot you need to announce who you will shoot. After that open the top card of the shotgun deck and put it into the discard pile face up. (Pt 8)
(If a player didn't announce the person he shoots he automatically shoots himself)
If you shoot yourself with a blank your turn continues, else your turn ends. (If you used handcuffs on your opponent your turn will continue no matter what)
IMPORTANT RULE! At the first turn of every load the player can use only 1 item. After that players can use unlimited amount of items.
You take turns shooting.
After the shotgun deck runs out of cards repeat steps 2-4. Instead of step 5 the order of the players will continue. For example: The last round in the chamber was blank and the player 1 shot himself. This means that in the next load he will go first.
The game ends after a player runs out of health. That player loses and the other wins.
That's all folks :)
Have a good game!
2024.06.09 13:44 Sad-Context-7844 32 F (Australia) - Seeking Penpal
Hi!
I'm seeking a long-term letter writing friend, preferably someone who is LGBT+ friendly and not someone under 20 years of age.
It would be cool to share stories, swap recipes, have a mini book club and recommend each other our favourite films, whatever makes us happy. Just want to share the joy of getting to know someone slowly through letter writing.
A little about me:
I'm a ceramics art student, and a swimming teacher. I enjoy writing (fantasy), reading, cooking, playing DnD and video games.
I have a PO box, and would prefer we only exchange letters. If you're interested at all, please don't hesitate to DM me.
2024.06.09 13:06 PlasmicSteve 10 Bad Typography Habits that Scream Amateur (Medium article)
https://meetchopz.medium.com/10-bad-typography-habits-that-scream-amateur-8bac07f9c041
A short, helpful article with visuals. Not written by me.
If your website is filled with center-aligned text, understand that it's generally a bad practice to do that in most cases and project descriptions are one of those cases. There's a reason the author of the article made it his #1 bad typography habit.
Center-aligned text is generally wrong because it's harder to read, as the reader's eye has to find a new starting point for each line. Because of this, it's considered to be a bad practice, so professional designers trained in typography avoid center-aligning text – except, as someone recently pointed out here on the sub, for some special cases like wedding invitations and wine bottles, as their teacher told them.
If your portfolio descriptions are center-aligned, anyone reviewing it who's trained in typography – which will be most people – is likely to see that as a lack of training in typography or a lack of following any training the designer has had. So if you want a better chance of getting hired for a design role, left-align your project descriptions.
The other two critical issues I see violated on portfolios submitted for review here on this sub are Line Length and Justification.
The maximum recommended line length, and this is not just for portfolios but for any project you create, print or digital, is 75 characters per line. Once you go beyond that, the viewer struggles to read the full text and will often skim or skip paragraphs completely.
Justification is when each line of text is forced to end at the same point on the right. I don't see many portfolios themselves using justification (probably because it's not a default), I do see it done in many projects, and done poorly.
Justification can work well, but it works best with wider blocks of text, and I often see it used on very narrow text columns in 3- and 4-column layouts on LetteA4 sized pages intended for print. And in addition to justifying wider columns of text, the settings that I see used most often only add space between each word, not each character, which gives amateurish results. Again, likely the default setting being used without question.
There's nothing wrong with having a ragged right block of text (this is the term for an irregular right margin), and in many, probably most instances, it's preferred.
Also, to be clear, there's no such thing as Left Justification and Right Justification. It's Left Aligned, Right Aligned, Center Aligned, and Justified. The terms are often used incorrectly, but Justified means what it's described to mean above.
What I often see is people following the defaults of whichever program or platform they're using and not questioning those defaults, which in my view is a bigger concern than any of the specific issues mentioned above. As designers, we're responsible for every element we put into our work so there's no justification (lame joke) for including elements that weren't given consideration.
Don't include images in your design without thinking about how they might be color adjusted, or cropped, or rotated, or modified in any other way to improve the results in whichever context they're being used.
Don't place a logo on a background that doesn't give good contrast without thinking about how you can modify the logo and/or the background to improve results. Maybe the background needs an overlay to make it slightly darker, or lighter, or less saturated. Maybe the logo should be all white, or all black, or all some other color, or it should get a subtle drop shadow or outer glow. Try different things and see which works best.
And don't just dump text into a program without looking at it objectively and considering how it can be modified to improve results – typeface, leading, tracking, alignment, margins, etc. If you don't know any of those terms, you should be looking them up immediately.
Typography is the core of graphic design – you can create a functional design with only type – and because of this, the use of typography in design is viewed more critically than any other element. Violating commonly accepted rules is an instant red flag to anyone reviewing your work. If you follow best practices, you'll be in better shape to get hired for a design job, to get freelance clients, and to generally be viewed as a professional.
2024.06.09 13:06 No_Lychee_679 [TX] Identity Mixup
I have a pretty crazy and super frustrating situation. There's another person who shares my exact full name, birthday, birth year , and even mother's name. Here are the details:
These are some (not all) of the problems I’ve been having:
  1. Insurance Nightmare: Every time I apply for insurance, my name gets mixed up with his. He has a middle name (I don't), but our records still get confused. He has two accidents on his record, so I get sky-high insurance quotes even though my record is clean. I know this because when I asked the insurance is why my quote so so high they tell me it is because I had to at fault accidents. One agent was nice enough to refer me to get my Lexis Nexis record, which leads me through issue number two.
  2. LexisNexis Mess: I got my records from LexisNexis so that I could see what the insurance companies were seeing in regards to my accidents, and they’ve mixed his file with mine. When I say that I mean that they literally sent me a document with his Social Security number all his addresses, all his family’s addresses and a lot more mixed in with a file with all my addresses, my families addresses and my Social Security number as well. Despite disputing this, they insisted the records are accurate, even though the accidents are linked to his driver's license number, not mine. I’ve disputed this twice now with LexisNexis, and both times they have denied my dispute I’m extremely lost
  3. DPS Issues: Almost didn’t get my driver's license because of this mix-up there were some sort of issue that he had, and they had to call in the head of the DPS to verify my social because of the issue
  4. Healthcare Confusion: We use the same hospital system and big pharmacy brand, causing mix-ups in medical records and billing.
  5. College Application Problems: When I applied for colleges, I got his denial letters… one college gave me access to his account instead of mine, which literally gave me access to his Social Security number… I reported this colleges admitted the mistake but never followed up after promising investigations.
This has been going on for years, and it's driving me crazy. I've been overpaying for insurance and dealing with all sorts of unnecessary stress.
Questions:
Also feel free to comment or ask any questions I’m really lost with this situation.
TL;DR: I have the same name, birthday, and mother's name as another person born 200 miles away from eachother. Our records are constantly mixed up, causing major issues with the DMV, healthcare, insurance (sky-high quotes due to his accidents), and college applications. LexisNexis refuses to correct the mix-up despite clear evidence. Need legal advice and recommendations
2024.06.09 12:35 Uhduh_08 soap opera situation
Hi!
My PM is giving me a non-renewal and has kicked other tenants out ( I assume because she had a stack of these letters and half of the people in my part of the building are gone since receiving the letter in April)
I'm having a hard time finding an apartment. I trashed my credit due to bipolar disorder and constant job loss due to my illness. I have been in this cycle of paying them off when employed and running them up and becoming delinquent when unemployed. I admittedly listened to bad advice a couple of years ago at 24 to file for ch 7 as this isn't the first time I've been in financial ruin. so I now have a bankruptcy and a trashed credit score.
I also have the issue that I had to live with my sister due to illness and it was her first time renting and she wasnt good at paying her part so we had many times where the rent was late. I recently combed through our ledger and it seems as thought we had a running balance the entire 3 years (although, im not sure because the PM definitely said she was renewing this year because we were never late last year) There is also no way to see who paid what besides combing through bank statements.
ALSO my sister may have to live with me that may cause some problems. Our brother committed fraud in her name. He got evicted from an apartment in her name, ran up peoples gas, and comed. so her credit is wrecked and she won't even do anything about it!
But, The good thing is I have gotten a subsidy for those with mental illness, but my adverse credit/score is getting in the way with big companies. Is there anyone who can recommend companies ,private landlords etc who will rent to someone like me? NOTE: I used to work as a housing specialist for a similar subsidy and I know there are neglectful PM/landlords when people have subsidies. I don't remember what companies they used but I do know that I want to avoid Cagan as they were notoriously hard to get a hold of.
Is there someone you know of that will overlook credit/bk if they know the rent will be paid for an entire year? Also, I'm looking in Uptown, Edgewater, I may even go to rogers Park or West RP (these areas specifically because my sister goes to loyola and I was worried about the trains and coming back down to Lakeview and looking for more diversity) If there are any other neighborhoods that are easy to get to and from loyola as a woman safely and easily by public transit and diverse I would appreciate any suggestions!
I'm desperate a there is a time crunch of August 31st. It just always seems when things go right something goes wrong 😕 This is causing serious stress while trying to do graduate school myself and regaining how I used to feel prior to diagnosis with meds and extremely good therapy! I have realized the traps of credit and what NOT to do when manic to not have this happen again and working on keeping a job through crisis😊
*** sorry for the sloppiness typed fighting through ambien 🤣🤣
*** I am currently unemployed but looking for a job preferably that could pay for school as a current grad student as I'm running out of aid. or I am attempting to apply for SSI or AADB (if anyone knows any tips for this I would appreciate it as well!!!!)
Thank you for any of your help and advice, and guidance 🙏🏽 anything mentioned will be researched and pursued like a bloodhound 🤣
2024.06.09 12:34 mrpooooopy Can chlamydia make your period late?
The insidious thing about STIs is that they usually do not cause noticeable symptoms, so STI screening is critical. The CDC recommends that all sexually active women under age 25 be tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea every year. Women aged 25 and older should also get tested yearly if they have risk factors such as new or multiple partners.
Chlamydia: According to Mayo Clinic, the only way to prevent chlamydia is to abstain from sexual activities since it is spread from person to person through sexual contact.
Chlamydia is called the “silent disease” because most people do not experience symptoms. Less than 25 percent of women notice an abnormal vaginal discharge or a burning sensation when they urinate. Chlamydia typically does not make you miss your period.
Unfortunately, when chlamydia is left untreated, it can cause serious and permanent damage to a woman’s reproductive system. Untreated chlamydia can travel up the reproductive tract and progress to PID, which sometimes makes women miss their periods.
The good news is you can test for chlamydia simply with a quick urine sample. If the infection is caught early, a course of antibiotics will cure it. Having chlamydia does not make you immune; you can catch it again.
Using Aveeno Shampoo Effectively
I recently tried the Aveeno Fresh Greens Shampoo + Conditioner, and I'm excited to share my experience with this product.
To get the most out of this shampoo, start by washing your hair with lukewarm water to help open up your hair cuticles and allow for better penetration of the nourishing ingredients. This will help the oat-based formula to effectively soothe your scalp and nourish your hair. When applying the shampoo, focus on the scalp, massaging it gently to remove dirt and impurities. Work the shampoo into a rich lather, then rinse thoroughly to prevent any residue buildup.
For ideal results, use Aveeno Fresh Greens Shampoo as a daily clarifying shampoo to maintain a healthy scalp environment. This is especially beneficial for those with oily hair, fine hair, or color-treated hair. You can also use it in conjunction with other Aveeno products to amplify its benefits. Remember to be gentle when washing your hair, as rough handling can cause breakage and tangles.
Overall, I'd rate this product 9/10. I found that it helped to achieve softer, shinier, and fuller hair. If you're looking for a gentle, nourishing shampoo, I'd definitely recommend giving Aveeno Fresh Greens Shampoo + Conditioner a try.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Aveeno Shampoo Suitable for Children and Infants?
If you're wondering if Aveeno shampoo is safe for your little ones, the product description doesn't explicitly state its suitability for children and infants, so it's best to consult a pediatrician or dermatologist for advice.
Can I Use Aveeno Shampoo on My Pet's Fur?
It's essential to remember that it's not suitable for your pet's fur. While it's excellent for human hair, with a rating of 9/10, the pH level is not designed for your furry friend's skin. Using human shampoo on pets can cause irritation or allergic reactions due to the difference in skin pH.
Will Aveeno Shampoo Remove Hair Dye or Coloring?
I was concerned that it would strip my hair of its vibrant color, but fortunately, it's formulated to be gentle and safe for color-treated hair, so it won't remove the dye or coloring. It's helped maintain my hair's color and vibrancy, and I'd rate it 9/10.
Is Aveeno Shampoo Available in Travel or Sample Sizes?
You can find travel-sized and sample-sized Aveeno shampoos online or in-store, perfect for on-the-go use or trying before committing to a full-size purchase.
Can I Use Aveeno Shampoo as a Body Wash or Hand Soap?
This sulfate-free shampoo is specifically designed for hair, not skin, and may not provide adequate cleansing for your body. You might be tempted to use it as a body wash, like Sarah did on a camping trip, but it's not recommended.
  4. Healthcare Confusion: We use the same hospital system and big pharmacy brand, causing mix-ups in medical records and billing.
  5. College Application Problems: When I applied for colleges, I got his denial letters… one college gave me access to his account instead of mine, which literally gave me access to his Social Security number… I reported this colleges admitted the mistake but never followed up after promising investigations.
This has been going on for years, and it's driving me crazy. I've been overpaying for insurance and dealing with all sorts of unnecessary stress.
Questions:
Also feel free to comment or ask any questions I’m really lost with this situation.
TL;DR: I have the same name, birthday, and mother's name as another person born 200 miles away from eachother. Our records are constantly mixed up, causing major issues with the DMV, healthcare, insurance (sky-high quotes due to his accidents), and college applications. LexisNexis refuses to correct the mix-up despite clear evidence. Need legal advice and recommendations
Selecting the right coffee can feel overwhelming with the myriad of options available. From different origins and roasts to various brewing methods, there’s a lot to consider. Whether you’re a coffee novice or a seasoned connoisseur, here’s a guide to help you choose the right coffee, find the best taste, and make an informed pick.
Understanding Coffee Tastes
Coffee flavor profiles can vary widely depending on several factors, including origin, processing method, and roast level. Here’s a breakdown of what to consider:
  1. Origin: Coffee’s flavor is heavily influenced by where it is grown. Here are some general characteristics of coffees from different regions:
    • Africa (e.g., Ethiopia, Kenya): Known for bright, fruity, and floral notes.
    • Latin America (e.g., Colombia, Brazil, Honduras): Often have a balanced flavor with notes of chocolate, nuts, and caramel.
    • Asia (e.g., Indonesia, Vietnam): Typically exhibit earthy, spicy, and sometimes smoky flavors.
  2. Processing Method: The way coffee is processed after harvest affects its taste:
    • Washed: Clean, bright flavors with more acidity.
    • Natural (Dry): Fruity and sometimes wine-like, with a fuller body.
    • Honey (Semi-Washed): A balance between washed and natural, with sweetness and some fruitiness.
  3. Roast Level: Roasting brings out different flavors in coffee:
    • Light Roast: Retains most of the bean’s original flavors; often bright, acidic, and fruity.
    • Medium Roast: Balanced flavor, aroma, and acidity; often has hints of caramel and chocolate.
    • Dark Roast: Bold, rich, and sometimes bitter, with deep chocolate, smoky, and spicy notes.
Choosing the Right Coffee for Your Taste
  1. Identify Your Preferred Flavor Profile: Think about what flavors you enjoy in other foods and beverages. Do you prefer fruity and tangy, sweet and nutty, or bold and smoky? This can guide you towards certain origins and roast levels.
  2. Experiment with Single Origins: Trying single origin coffees can help you pinpoint your preferences. Each region offers distinct characteristics, and exploring them can be a fun journey. For example, if you enjoy bright and fruity flavors, start with an Ethiopian coffee. If you prefer something smoother and chocolaty, try a Brazilian coffee.
  3. Consider Your Brewing Method: Different brewing methods can highlight various aspects of the coffee’s flavor. For instance:
    • Pour-over (e.g., V60, Chemex): Accentuates clarity and brightness; great for light roasts.
    • French Press: Enhances body and richness; suitable for medium to dark roasts.
    • Espresso: Concentrated and intense; works well with medium to dark roasts.
How to Pick the Best Coffee
  1. Freshness Matters: Coffee tastes best when it’s fresh. Look for roast dates on packaging and aim to consume coffee within a few weeks of roasting. Avoid pre-ground coffee if possible; grinding beans just before brewing ensures maximum freshness.
  2. Quality Indicators: High-quality coffee often comes with certifications such as Fair Trade, Organic, or Rainforest Alliance. These indicate ethical sourcing and sustainable farming practices.
  3. Small Batch Roasters: Consider buying from small batch or specialty roasters. They often pay more attention to quality and offer a wider range of unique and high-quality beans.
  4. Read Reviews and Ask for Recommendations: Customer reviews and expert opinions can provide insights into the taste and quality of different coffees. Don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations from baristas or coffee enthusiasts.
  5. Sample Different Coffees: Many roasters offer sample packs or smaller quantities so you can try a variety of coffees without committing to a large bag. This is a great way to discover your favorites.
Conclusion
Choosing the right coffee involves exploring different origins, understanding how processing and roast levels affect flavor, and considering your brewing method. By identifying your taste preferences and paying attention to freshness and quality indicators, you can find the perfect coffee that suits your palate.
