Should I take my dog off Nutrisource Weight Management?

2024.05.17 01:35 PennyWiseInDisguise Should I take my dog off Nutrisource Weight Management?

Hello all, My large breed SD has been on NutriSource Weight Management Dry Dog Food- Chicken and Rice for Large Breeds for about 4 years now. The Banfield vet and a couple trainers at the time suggested it to help him lose some weight and then to keep him on it with a maintenance amount to help him maintain the ideal Weight.
I read on the FAQs page of AskVet that Nutrisource is one of the brands of dog foods not recommended but that was listed under the information about Grain Free. This formula is not grain free, it even says on the bag that it includes wholesome grains.
So now I'm worried I'm hurting my pup!
Should I be feeding him something else and if so, what is actually recommended?
Details: Large breed Poodle, male, neutered, 29.25" tall at shoulders, 36" at top of head. Currently 90lbs. Fed 2x a day, 1.5cups each feeding (sometimes we give him a cooked egg with his food as a treat). I'm not sure what other info may be needed.
Thank you!!!

2024.05.17 01:29 JamFranz I’m calling about a past due balance on your account (Part 13) - That one time we went to Canada

I work for a ‘special collections’ agency and I don’t think our customers are human.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13
I wasn’t exactly thrilled when, on the first night P’uy̓ám stayed with me, the moment we sat on the sofa he turned to me and asked, “Can we talk?”
I was tempted to sprint out the front door (like any perfectly reasonable and emotionally stable person would), but I’m proud to say that I managed to fight that instinct. The talk ended up basically being ‘did I mind that he wasn’t human’. I told him no, he’s the smartest, nicest person I know, and I think he’s amazing. I asked him if he minded that I am human, and he told me he didn’t care about that. He said I make him laugh, and spending time with me makes him happy and want to be the best version of himself. He did also say that I’m beautiful and a lot smarter than I claim I am, but I chalk up those last two to him being super nice, because if asked to describe myself, the two words I’d probably use would be, ‘loud’ and ‘confused’.
We just stared at each other awkwardly for a moment after that, neither of us seemed entirely sure what to do – it was the first time we’d actually been alone together since ‘the kiss’.
Just when we’d figured it out (and no, internet stranger, I’m not going to be sharing any more specific details, thanks), a knock on the door and the sound of Sandy’s voice outside interrupted us.
“Oh hey hon. I just wanted to make sure you were still alive.” She smiled once I jumped up to open it.
Her eyes drifted to P’uy̓ám who waved awkwardly from the couch, glasses askew.
“Well alrighty then, I guess I’ll be going.” She just stood there, looking a bit lost.
I realized that was the first night she’d come home to any empty house after having company for a month straight – I guess even unspeakable horrors get lonely too.
“Sandy, do you want to come in and watch a movie with us?” I offered after a moment.
“Oh, you betcha!” she brightened and then proceeded to choose the seat between us. I swear she’s got psychic chaperone powers or something.
I suggested that maybe the three of us could do a game night every month, since we figured it’d be nice to catch up outside of just when we were trying to prevent the world was ending. I must say though, I thought Sandy was intense as a supervisor but she is a thousand times more frightening as a poker player – and we don’t even play for money.
I joked that we needed to take her to a casino, but she very seriously replied, “Oh I’m banned from every one in the state.”
I moved apartments after a month had passed without hearing from Yyohn. I’d been waiting to be absolutely sure, because I didn’t want to saddle a new renter with the whole, ‘you might be pulled into a nightmare world and sacrificed to an interdimensional entity’ thing – that would’ve been really inconsiderate.
I was so appreciative that P’uy̓ám stayed with me for a while. I may write with bravado when describing things in retrospect, but the very real possibility of being dragged through a reflective surface silently in the night never to be seen again, did freak me out.
It was also nice to finally spend some time together where we weren’t worrying about the imminent demise of either myself or our plane of existence (well no more than we usually have to worry, at least).
We decided not to tell anyone at the office that we're dating, it's easier that way. Well, I mean, Sandy knows since she did witness our first kiss whilst they were burying me alive.
As the time approached for our trip, I just really hoped that after not seeing P’uy̓ám for decades, maybe his family would welcome him back this time, forgive him for the minor transgression of ‘leaving home’ (yes, I’m still salty that they pretty much disowned him for that.) I figured if he didn’t, maybe he could get some closure, he could at least see the places where he grew up – homesickness had very clearly been really eating at him ever since we went into the woods for team building.
When we were planning our trip, he told me he’s never liked planes and was hoping to avoid flying. Considering ‘traveling on business’ in our line of work isn’t exactly defined as moving across physical space, it made some sort of sense.
He said it was something about not having solid ground under his feet, but when we mapped it out, it was over 5,000 miles round trip – so we could either spend 40 hours in a car, or 6 hours on a plane, each way.
He decided to give flying a shot.
People sometimes struggle to pronounce my first and last names off my driver’s license or credit cards, but they’ll at least try. As we were checking in the lady at the desk ended with, “Thank you Mr….” and then after staring at his driver’s license in silence for a few moments just gave up and handed it back to him.
I get it though, I mean, if I hadn’t heard him pronounce his last name, I would’ve never guessed it on my own – I’d just never encountered a ‘7’ in a name before I met him.
The security guy at the airport spent a long time studying P’uy̓ám’s passport. He stared at P’uy̓ám, then the passport with narrowed eyes. Back to him, then the passport, several times before eventually shrugging and handing it back over. I peeked at it before he put it away and noticed it said he was born in 1960 – and he may be 233, but he looks like he’s in his early thirties at most, so that explained the look of disbelief written on the agent’s face.
When I asked him about it, he said it’s a lot of work to fake all the documents needed to make the date match his outward appearance.
“It was a lot easier before there were electronic records.” He smiled.
I warned him that he should probably update that soon – bureaucratic apathy would only get him so far.
As we waited in the security line, his eyes widened when he saw people go through the body scanner, and he asked me what it was. When I told him, he turned pale and said he couldn’t go through it.
That left me with some questions.
“P’uy̓ám, when was the last time you flew?”
He had to think about that for a moment. “1986?”
“Yeahhhh… I’m pretty sure you can ask not to, but they’ll probably pat you down if you skip it.”
He grew even paler at that.
“Do you want the scan, or the hands?”
He ran his fingers through his hair and shook his head, indicating that he wanted neither, which unfortunately for him was not an option.
I squeezed his hand, which helped calm him down – only letting go when it was time to show our IDs, and even then, only after the TSA officer glared at us
It’s a good thing we got there early, because when they asked if he’d emptied his pockets, he said no.
So, I watched him remove:
We both got out of line so he could check his bag and keep his tools – and I didn’t want him to have to go through it again by himself.
I hated seeing that look of misery on his face – I tried to maintain comforting eye contact with him as they patted him down.
They did let him keep the dirt with him, after scanning it since it’s apparently not prohibited, (just weird). He proceeded to stick it in one of his beat-up Converse before putting his shoes back on.
I understood the dirt – since he mentioned something about solid ground, I guessed it was as close as he was going to get on a plane – and even the multitool and knife.
But, when I asked him why he was trying to bring 16g of RAM into rural Canada in his pockets he just smiled, “You never know when you might need it.”
As soon as we boarded, I realized flying had been a terrible idea. He had a hard time fitting his legs in since he’s so tall – his knees were just jammed in there the whole time. Before we took off, some guy elbowed him in the face while trying to load a bag into the bin and P’uy̓ám said ‘I’m sorry’ to him. I glared at the guy until he apologized.
Everything freaked him out and he gripped the arm rests for dear life the entire flight. The sound of the wheels, staring out at the wings and the little flaps every time they moved (“Are those supposed to be doing that?” to which I could only unhelpfully shrug), the turbulence. I was just glad they let him keep the dirt.
He looked so absolutely horrified during the entire flight and I felt so bad for him. Before we even landed, I asked him if he wanted to drive on the way back instead of flying and he instantly said yes, relief written across his face.
We had to rent a car to get to his hometown, and it took us an extra two hours to get there because there were so many places he wanted to stop and show me, like this amazing waterfall off highway 99. I could’ve done without the constant feel of eyes on us despite us being alone, but it was definitely beautiful, at least.
We began to see signs for this little touristy shop. As we kept driving, the billboards seemed to multiply, until they were at almost every mile. At my insistence, we stopped.
I regretted that decision as soon as we walked in – the place was devoid of life, there were no other customers, no employees – and something about how the dim, blueish lights cast shadows across the shelves gave me a searing headache.
Not to mention the items on the shelves themselves – a mildewy hoodie, that had ‘Someone who loves me visited Oklahoma and bought me this sweatshirt!’ written in fading letters.
It seemed more like a second hand shop than a tourist trap.
I’d found a beaded purse, but it had a wallet and driver's license still in it.
As we wandered, a case of jewelry across the store caught my eye and drew me towards it – it was insane how beautiful each piece was – all so captivating, and each one was totally unique. They looked almost like blown glass – swirling golds and blues in one, sharp magentas with specs of green in another.
As I was leaning in closely, studying them – it almost looked as if they were moving a bit in their case – someone whispered directly into my ear from over my shoulder, “Thanks for stopping in”
The guy appeared out of nowhere to lean in over my shoulder, causing me to scream (just a reasonable amount).
Creeper dude walked around to position himself behind the counter, asked if I wanted to see anything, before pausing to study my face for a moment. His eyes drifted down to the pendant that P’uy̓ám made me, the one for ‘I’m totally not a human, please don’t eat me’ purposes.
“Oh, this is beautiful”, he whispered, before deciding to violate my personal space by lifting it up and holding it.
His demeanor instantly changed from a handsy salesperson to something else entirely – his grin widened and he looked a little too excited.
“Have you signed our guest book?” He gripped my left wrist tightly, shoved a pen into my right, and studied me in a way that told me he wouldn’t let go until I signed it.
“Can I switch hands please?”
He had the audacity to look at me as if I had mildly inconvenienced him, but did let me switch after I told him that was the only way he’d get actual, readable, words.
I flipped through the thick, yellowing pages to find a blank one and signed it ‘Mikayla G. and P’uy̓ám K.’
“Last names too.”
I sighed and wrote ‘Mikayla Garabedian and P’uy̓ám K--’ (I just wrote random letters after the K because I didn’t like how pushy he was being. )
“Exquisite, aren’t they?” he asked me with a smile, gesturing down at the jewelry. The small piece streaked with yellow and pinks was definitely shuddering in response to him pointing at it.
I nodded, but more out of politeness at that point, because he still had my wrist in a death grip.
“Mikayla, Wait.” I could hear P’uy̓ám call out in the distance, but I felt frozen there – it sounded like he was miles away
“Would you like to see how they’re made?”
Before I could answer, he leaned in and put a stone that resembled the others in shape and size, the only difference is that it was just plain, totally clear – into my hand, which he closed around it. It was like glass, but weightier, and where it touched my skin it burned slightly.
I could hear P’uy̓ám calling my name as he came sprinting over, right as the guy read my name off the guestbook.
P’uy̓ám gasped, but I didn’t understand why he was so freaked out.
Literally nothing happened.
P’uy̓ám helped me free my wrist from creepy guy’s crazy strong grip and sassily smacked the book out of his hands, before he could read it again.
And still, nothing happened.
The guy looked at us with narrowed eyes – a look P’uy̓ám returned, with even more intensity. The guy hissed at us as P’uy̓ám guided me out of the store.
Once we got to the parking lot, P’uy̓ám pulled me close to him and put his chin on the top of my head while quietly muttered that he wasn’t sure how I was unaffected – calling someone their true name is how all those other pendants got filled.
He hadn’t realized at first, but when he saw another collection of ‘items made from tourists’ (I made him repeat that to ensure I’d heard that correctly but he didn’t expound on what the ‘items’ were and I was a bit afraid to ask) in the back, he knew.
That was when P’uy̓ám ran over to me, but the guy already begun to read my name, so he was worried it was too late.
He was relieved when I saw that I didn’t provide either of our actual full names – I’ve learned that sharing your entire, true name isn’t a great idea, not with non-humans, probably not with the internet in general.
Mikayla is what I go by, but it’s my middle name – I mean, my sister’s name is ‘Hasmig’, so yeah, I have a fairly traditional first name, too. And no, I’m not sharing it here.
Look, I’m not saying that you’re going to come track me down and try to bind my soul to an inanimate object to then sell to tourists. But, after that ordeal, I’d rather not take that risk.
When I turned back around, the entire store was just … gone.
Apparently since I’m subletting a part of my soul (or as I like to say, ‘mildly possessed’), P’uy̓ám says mine was probably even more fascinating to the guy.
Due to our detours, it was getting dark by the time we reached P’uy̓ám’s family home.
Even in the low light, I could see the apprehension clearly written across his face. I wondered if he thought I was kidding about pummeling his family with my thousand page book if they were shitty to him. (Because I wasn’t)
The entire time, I’d thought that the worst thing that could happen would be that they rejected him – as we pulled up to the dark house, I realized just how very wrong I was. _
If you want me to let you know when the next part is posted, just comment that you want me to update you, and I'll tag your user name in a comment, when I post the next part :)

2024.05.17 01:01 Homernandpenelope9 Large flying tires and air bags

While driving on a major U.S. highway, the front tire (including the metal wheel) of a private company’s semi-truck (an 18-wheeler) detached and jumped over the median between traffic. It impacted the front of a large 2014 SUV, smashing its grill, hood, radiator, and bumper. The SUV deployed all front airbags, including the ones in the shoulder belts. The driver of the SUV was able to safely move the vehicle to the side of the highway and the driver was not aware of any injuries. The driver called 911, but because there were no injuries, the police declined to send an officer to the scene. Because the semi was immobile, the driver of the SUV was able to speak with the driver and get all the company’s contact information. The owner of the company soon called the driver to make they were ok and said the company would cover all the expenses to have the SUV repaired. The owner also mentioned that the truck had just been serviced by a third party, who apparently did not properly secure the lug nuts. The SUV was taken to a repair shop of the driver’s choosing and provided a rental vehicle for the repair duration.
A few questions.
1) Could the trucking company’s insurance determine the SUV is totaled? And if so, what happens next? Or does the trucking company (or its insurer) need to repair the damage regardless of cost?
2) Assuming the trucking company has the SUV repaired, it will still be worth much less than it was just prior to the accident. Would the company be responsible for providing the driver with the market-based difference?
  1. What else should the driver do (and not do) at this point?

2024.05.17 01:00 wanderingcurrent Need advice on rehoming my large koi

So I have a 150 gallon stock tank pond I’ve had set up for about 5 years. Only current resident is a large koi who is too big for the pond but he has a disfigured tail. He’s also probably more like a goldfish/koi mutt - I took him when he was small because I figured I’d expand my pond before he got huge.
Fast forward a few years. My husband and I are separated. The house needs expensive repairs that can’t be put off any longer. I don’t have the time or money to expand the pond myself or pay someone else to do it.
Now the problem is compounded because I have rats living in my yard and dying in the pond. I have neighbors on one side with multiple dogs who openly admit they don’t pick up after their dogs. Neighbors on the other side are hit or miss on bagging their trash. The city is trying to help and have placed bait boxes in my yard and one other yard. And they’ve attempted to communicate with the problem neighbors.
I just had the second rat die in there this week. Every time I pull my fish out and put him in a Rubbermaid container while I dose with PP and do a water change (on the advice of my local fish shop).
I can’t keep doing this routine. I work FT and just don’t have the time to come home to a dead rat and spend my evening doing pond work. I didn’t have time to clean the pond out again tonight and I found a crack in his usual holding container so he’s now in a 60 gallon tank in the house that’s WAY too small.
Local fish shops aren’t interested in taking him because he’s too big and not pretty enough. I’ve called local pond supply stores and maintenance folks with no luck there either. I don’t know anyone with a pond large enough for him.
I feel like my only option is to rehome him because I can’t have a pond that keeps getting contaminated with dead rats and I don’t know how long it’s going to take to resolve that problem.
Any suggestions for some place I haven’t thought of?

Are Gucci bags good investment?
So, I am looking for a decent size crossbody bag that I could use for traveling and/or running errands that has good quality and I was thinking of Gucci. I don’t own anything from the brand yet because to be honest, I’m not really a fan of their design. It looks classic though, like the Ophidia collection? (Dunno if I’m saying it right) but not really my style. But seeing that most of their bags come in canvas makes me think that they are more durable and stain proof? Also prolly because of that, the price is a little inexpensive compared to its luxury counterparts. I’m not saying that it’s cheap, for my price range it definitely is NOT 🤣 and I’ve been eyeing this classic piece which I’ll post here… but reading articles about the declining quality of luxury bags (like Prada) makes me wonder if buying a Gucci bag will bring me good ROI.
Thoughts??

2024.05.17 00:51 TheWhoolieMammoth Running on empty

The flickering light of his dying fire sent strange silhouettes dancing across the fabric of Mike's tent. He rolled over in his sleeping bag and tried again to ignore the sounds from the forest. Seconds later, something began scratching against pine bark. He had seen enough raccoons and critters on the way to his campsite to explain the sound, but his paranoia grew all the same.
As an adult, he knew the fiends and ghouls he had feared in his youth only lived in his mind, but their hold had been strong. Mike had been labeled a "bed wetter" by his older siblings who tormented and teased him constantly as a boy. His fear of his father tales and his brother's stories had frozen him in bed many nights, sometimes too scared to even get up to use the bathroom or glance out of the window. There were witches in the woods who would sacrifice him to Satan. There were impossibly long arms behind the bedskirts, waiting to pull him under the bed. There were even monsters in the bathtub drain that could squeeze him into the pipes and kill him.
But his past traumas wouldn't keep him from being a man anymore.
Deciding against sleep, he put his shoes on, fed the fire the last of his stockpiled wood, and sat on a rock with his back to the flames. New shadows sprang from his lively fire, and the dense forest seemed to dance to a noiseless tune.
Noiseless - except now he could hear a song. It was faint, but from an outcrop of rocks behind his campsite started an eerie chorus. He stood up and silently moved toward the rock face, noticing a crevasse he had not seen before.
The sound grew louder.
Terrified, he froze in front of the narrow cave and heard the song transform into a hideous echoed chant. Gutteral, snarling sounds accompanied this new clamor and drove fear deep into his heart. Visions of demons and witches flooded his mind and destroyed all rational thought.
He bolted. His car was parked off the main highway less than a half mile away, but there was no trail for him to follow. He sprinted wildly through the dark underbrush in the direction of the road.
Suddenly his feet left the path and he felt his stomach rise into his throat. Mike wheeled, but the ground was no longer under him. Confusion and panic consumed him as the wind screamed past his ears like a banshee coming to devour his soul.
Less than five seconds later, he landed feetfirst onto a pile of boulders at the bottom of a ravine, shattering the bones in his legs and feet.
At daybreak, a large family of Boreal wolverines sleepily wandered out of the crevasse to inspect an empty tent and the smoldering remains of a fire. They found a meager meal amongst the site and quietly crept back to their craggy den.
Two days later, hikers spotted my grandfather, mangled, barely alive and being eaten by ants, just off the main trail.
Though he eventually recovered well enough to walk on his own, Grandpa Mike never went into the woods again.

⚠️ Disordered Eating- Daily WW Points Used (Data compiled from monetized content):
1-2 WW Points?: Warm latte with almond milk, sugar-free vanilla, and monkfruit. 🚨 No sugar-free options are available at the Parakeet Cafe. Per their website, only house-made organic vanilla syrup is available. Kylea did not list the WW points for this beverage. 🤔
0 WW Points: FOUR scrambled eggs, fresh berries, and water
0 WW Points: Fresh Pressed Juice 🚨 Kylea does not count points for this, but the WW website counts blended and pressed juices as points.
0 WW Points: Southwest salad with chicken, corn, blackbeans, and salsa
7 WW Points: Poppi Root Beer, fresh pineapple, and a Quest Coconutty Caramel Bar with Almonds
📢 For our friends at Meta, that means Kylea consumed 8-9 out of (up to) 30 daily WW points in maintenance mode= Disordered Eating. This is dangerous messaging for her 140k+ followers on a weight loss journey. Please follow your policies on eating disorders and take action.

Comments: Kylea stopped showing the food and beverages her sister consumed today. Her sister is physically active and appears to practice moderation in eating with a more diverse palate. I think Kylea did not appreciate the praise her sister was receiving, and it made Kylea's Disordered Eating more apparent to followers.
Most posts were edited 3+ times (a few rapidfire edits then multiple hours later).
  1. "Starting our day with a 30 minute walk to breakfast.👟 We wanted to explore as much as possible with our own two feet and that's exactly what we are doing!! The girl that showed up on July 5th of 2021 is so proud! 💖"
⏸️ People who have walked daily to a playlist for almost 3 years should not make a BIG deal about walking 30 minutes.
  1. Kylea spent approx. $34 on 2 more bandanas for Birdie at the Farmers Market.
  2. Parakeet Cafe: Kylea was charmed by this cafe and said, "I sat here enjoying my coffee and thinking of my grams. All the birds remind me of her 💖 ☕️"
⏸️ May Grams RIP. 🙏 To her family and friends, I am sorry that Kylea repeatedly monetizes her death.
  1. Morning Glory for Breakfast: A large bowl of 4 scrambled eggs and berries are shown.
⏸️ This was not a choice on the online menu. To fear food in a wonderful culinary destination, like San Diego, is sad. Kylea needs medical care. ☮️
  1. San Diego Zoo: "I've done a lot of walking here so I'm so thankful for my improved health. God is so good! 💖"
⏸️ Kylea does not look well in the picture. I feel her body is not used to this level of outside activity.
  1. Fresh Pressed Juice: Kylea posts a green fresh pressed juice from the Farmers Market. The Reddit theory is that this stop occurred before breakfast, and she waited to post it since she had just consumed a latte.
  2. "Joe" posted about Arby's: "My wife is the best! She sent me one of my favorite meals for dinner tonight and enough for me to have for lunch tomorrow. I love the roast beef sandwich from Arby's! ❤️"
⏸️ Please see the link above on power and control in domestic violence. Why was Joe unable to purchase Arby's on his own? Why was it delivered? Why the goofy picture of him holding the food bag? Although I realize "his" posts boost "her" engagement, fast food is triggering for those on a weight loss journey. Meta, please take action.
  1. Southwest Salad: Kylea dined at an unnamed restaurant. "I tend to eat chicken, eggs, veggies, and fruit while on vacay because it is what I like the most! 💖"
⏸️ Kylea needs help for her Disordered Eating.
  1. Post-Dinner Snacks: "Having some snacks after a long day of a lot of walking! 👟 I've never tried the poppi before or the quest candy bar and they are both SO good!! I got 12 grams of protein in while eating that quest candy bar and it was amazing!!!"
⏸️ That's right...her only WW points from food was a "candy bar" today, and it was "SO good" and "amazing!!!" This is gaslighting. Food is fuel. Green beans and brownies are the same... The iced cookie cake was "fine," remember? 🤔
  1. She's cold: This travel blogger must not have checked the weather for her backpack trip. "I packed a sweatshirt just in case and it turns out I'm probably going to be wearing it the entire time because I'm so cold."
Takeout: Parakeet Cafe latte= $6.50 est + tip; Unknown beverage for sister= $6.50 est + tip; Morning Glory for KG= $20 est + tip; Unknown bfast for sister= $20 est + tip; Juice Hut pressed juice= $10 + tip; Unknown beverage for sister= $10 est + tip; Arby's delivery for Joe= $25 est + fees; Unknown restaurant for dinner (Southwest Salad) for KG= $15 est + tip; Unknown dinner for sister= $15 est + tip; Poppi, Quest Bar & Fresh Pineapple= $10 est

2024.05.17 00:35 fkinAMAZEBALLS Best bag combo for my needs - international trip

Best bag combo for my needs - international trip
I’m heading to India and Europe for the first time in late summer for work and fun. I have 2 train trips in the US (well aware I can move ANYTHING on Amtrak), 2 direct flights to and from US, a flight from India with a layover in the UK, and a multitude of train trips on regional rail in Switzerland and Italy. I’m looking for the best combo to avoid roller luggage that can move well on public transit including buses and trains. I want to not have aching shoulders at the end of this. I’m working on the packing list since I’ll be moving through different climates but find it easier to plan around the bags. I do plan to carry a light packable duffle for the last leg home since I’ll have gifts and trinkets. Not averse to shipping a box home either. Tried a Peak Design 40L a couple years ago for a different international trip and while it all fit, it was a LOT and awkward to get on and off in the airport.
Note: I will at least have my steam deck, chargers, a mirrorless camera in a pouch not a bag, water bottle, a notebook, and two stuffed animals on me for the entire trip as my EDC. Maybe my 13 inch laptop since first part is for business but may carry portable monitor instead and use steam deck as computer. This stuff goes in the “personal item”.
Here’s my current spread of bags I’m considering for the trip. I’m not a small person so expect to need a little more space than a smaller person to carry clothes. Suggestions? Do I have the right mix or should I look at another option?

2024.05.17 00:16 VdlSwitte Should i choose the second option?

I’m going on a 2 week trip and i recently discovered this subreddit. I want to travel with one bag of course, but i’m afraid the bag will be too large and i’ll have to pay a fine. I’m especially worried since Ryanair is notoriously strict about their baggage policy. What do you guys think?
I will be packing enough clothes for a week so i can wash my clothes halfway through the trip. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

2024.05.16 23:57 cofonseca Anyone in the MA/RT/CT area looking for some brewing equipment?

I started homebrewing during COVID, then moved two years ago, and haven't really had much time to brew since then. Between home projects and other hobbies, I just don't see myself brewing any time soon, and I could really use the space, so I'm hoping to sell my stuff to someone local.
Some of the equipment includes:
I can't let it go for free, if anyone is interested, feel free to make me a fair offer (really, I'm flexible). I'm also happy to answer any questions here or via DM. I'm located in RI but would be happy to meet up in MA/CT.
I think this type of post is okay? But my apologies if I misread the rules. It's been a while since I've browsed this sub. Thanks!

2024.05.16 23:48 joshua_fisher Loading dock and or loading ramp height issues

Hello all, first time posting here. I currently have a saved game where I'm attempting to build out a large cattle farm. I got sick of fork-lifting pallets and bags onto a flatbed trailer from the sides so I started looking for a warehouse and or loading dock so I could just drive straight onto the trailer instead. I found the "LOADING RAMP WITH DOCK LEVELER V1.0" mod which is great... aside from the fact that it makes the front end of every flatbed trailer I've tried with it jump up into the air when it sits down on the back of the trailer.
So, next option would be a small warehouse with a loading dock but I also cant find one that has a ramp I can use to drive the forklift down to the ground. Next would be a small enough / with functional interior warehouse that works for my build but I cant find one of those either.
I have been able to terraform the ground and raise it just enough to be level with the flatbed with the in-game tools but I'm going to be honest I'm a little bit of a perfectionist and I hate how that tool isn't precise whatsoever with raising and lowering ground.
So what would be the easiest option? I have GIANTS Editor but honestly it's a little complex for me (as I've never used it) so I'd rather find an easier solution to my issue than learning the Editor but its not out of the question. I would think maybe editing the map and adding a small concrete pad underneath would do fine but again I'm not well versed in the Editor.
Any and all suggestions are welcomed. And yes I'm aware this is a very niche problem lol.

2024.05.16 23:47 cofonseca Anyone interested in some beer brewing equipment?

I don't really want to make this into a for sale type of post (I know those aren't allowed), but I used to home brew my own beer and have a large amount of brewing equipment and ingredients that I no longer use. This stuff has been taking up a lot of space in my garage for the last year or two and I'd like to get rid of it. I just have way too many hobbies and can't see myself brewing again any time soon, sadly.
Some of the stuff includes:
I can't let it go for free, if anyone is interested, feel free to shoot me a DM and I'd be happy to chat!

2024.05.16 23:38 ntin 6 Months and 2300 Miles With a Blazer EV

Following up on my previous thread.
tl;dr; I am still satisfied with my purchase and will consider another Blazer EV in the future.
Mechanically, the Blazer EV is great. It drives nicely and handles well. Coming from a Chevy Volt, the turning radius is surprisingly similar for a vehicle about a foot longer and wider. It doesn't feel like driving a tank like other SUVs.
The software, aside from bugs, is a mixed bag. The UI could use a redo. It feels like too much form over function. The use of space is questionable, and some of the touch buttons are small enough that they aren't easy to press in a moving vehicle. The screen is so large, but with so much empty space, it could have been smaller, and nothing would have been lost.

2024.05.16 23:35 StrongZucchini27 Following on the iHart Offseason Post, A Rundown of The Situation (because I don't think I can put a chart into a comment 😆)

I wanted to post a rundown of my understanding of the Hartenstein free agency situation for a) some more clarity in the sub on what is/isn't possible and b) crowdsourced feedback if I have any details (small or large) incorrect.
The Knicks are going to be operating over the salary cap - i.e., the salaries they are obligated to pay in the 2024-25 NBA season will sum to a figure higher than the projected cap of $141m. As such, the Knicks need to use available cap exceptions to sign/re-sign players like Isaiah. NYK signed Isaiah from free agency to a two-year contract in the 2022 summer; this reset his Bird rights clock to 0. More on the Bird rights and 'Early Bird' rights exceptions rules in the following links from Larry Coon's incredible NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) FAQ: question 25, question 32
In short, Bird rights are meant to allow teams to retain their players despite a lack of salary cap room left to do so. However, because Isaiah does not have 3 complete seasons on his Bird rights clock going into the 2024 offseason, NYK does not have 'full' Bird rights with Isaiah, which would have allowed them to use the exception to pay Isaiah anything up to his maximum salary (and contract length and yearly raise) under the CBA. Isaiah will have 2 complete seasons on his Bird rights clock, giving NYK, his current team, Early Bird rights to retain him. The Early Bird rights exception is the largest available cap exception that NYK can use to pay Isaiah, but the Early Bird rights exception is not as lenient as the full Bird rights exception. Early Bird rights contracts allow the player's team to offer a contract with
So, the Knicks cannot just match what another team with more salary cap room can offer Isaiah, who has likely outplayed the amount that the Knicks can offer him this summer.
In my opinion, the best that NYK can take care of Hartenstein is with a 2-year + Player Option contract starting at his maximum Early Bird exception salary of about $16.18m (1.75 * 9.245m [his salary this season, base + incentive]) with 8% raises. The PO secures that this is a >$50m bag over 3 seasons, and it gives Hartenstein the possibility of signing a new, more lucrative contract after 2 seasons. Harteinstein will be 28 in summer 2026, ...and New York would have his full bird rights(!).
The issue is that Hartenstein's agents (at CAA 😈😈😈) can probably find him a deal worth $30m+ more than what the Knicks can offer. A 4 year $80-$90m offer could very well materialize (and it probably should - even more is I think deep for the way the center market seems to tend to unfold [have not personally seen or done an analysis here], but could still bear out as a good contract in my opinion).
I think, though, that it's worth looking at the breakdown of his money lost to gain a fuller perspective. Italics below is my estimation of his shortfall from NYK's 2+1 Early Bird deal when compared to a roughly $90m, 4-year free agent contract: [CHART]
The shortfall for the 2 guaranteed seasons of the NYK deal is over $8m - nothing to sneeze at. If Isaiah is outplaying the NYK deal, that 2026 summer is when NYK can finally take care of him with a full Bird Rights exception contract. If he's not outplaying the NYK deal or if, say, his 2025-26 season is injury-marred, then he has the $18.77m to opt into and run it back with (at which point the shortfall from the 4/$90m is $12.67m).
There's no sugarcoating that Isaiah would be gambling with the aforementioned early-deal shortfall(s) plus a at least starter-level 2027-28 salary ($24.911m) if he were to take NYK's deal over a hypothetical $90m deal. If his gamble works out, though, he could hypothetically lose only ~$8m aggregate next year and the year following, while potentially gaining some of that back in his next NYK deal as compared to the hypothetical 4 year, $90m free agent deal of this summer. As things stand, though, summer 2026 could be a world in which we are paying >80% of under-the-cap salary to Brunson, Randle and Anunoby. Then NYK starts to think about Hartenstein's new contract as the salary + the steep tax penalties per dollar. That summer also features Mitchell Robinson's free agency. I'm sure Hartenstein's agents are well aware of those pitfalls, too.
What do I predict? I have (perhaps unreasonable) confidence that he'll push his chips in with us 😎. I predict that he values his increasingly central role and the continuity there, that he has a strong desire to keep it going with the rest of this inspired squad, and that he is content with taking his destiny into his own hands even if means doing so at the risk of losing tens of millions.
