2024.05.16 11:48 Independent_Try_7716 My Weirdest Tragic LDR Story

So almost 3 months ago, I had an anonymous Instagram account. Feeling desperate for love, I started commenting under posts, that I need someone to talk. One account (girl) replied to me. Had a little chat followed by sexchat. I thought it was just a one time thing. Got her text next day and we started chatting normally and flirting over next 3-4 days. Got to know that we belong to same caste. We started dating, exchanged photos and videos and eventually found each other compatible to each other. Some of you may think it could be a guy but I made sure that wasn't the case. Exchanged phone numbers also and used to talk for 3-4 hours a day on call. Experienced my first love and we were already thinking about our marriage.
But, how could everything go so smoothly? On Holi, she was having severe headache and went to doctor. Listening to symptoms, doctor said she has 95% chance of brain tumor. She told me this after 2 days. We both were shocked and she was almost broken from inside. Reports confirmed she had last stage of brain tumor and only few months left. Thinking about my future, she told me to break up, but I resisted saying I will be with her till the very last moment. We had disagreements over this, she started ignoring me so I get convinced to break up but I stayed with her. On 8th April, she got hospitalised and stayed there for about 4-5 days. I wasn't sure if I will talk to her again or not. For context, she lost her parents about 5 years back in a car accident. She only have her elder sister and her fiance in her family, and she was the one who kept updating me about her situation, through her phone only. During her stay in hospital, this condition really got her bad. She started forgetting stuffs but she remembered me. She came back home on 13th April. I really wanted to go meet her in her city but couldn't go due to some circumstances.
This wasn't the only problem she was dealing with. Another huge problem was her ex boyfriend. They both broke up about 1.5 years ago and it was his wish. She begged for her to stay but he left. I got to know from her cousin firstly and then from her, that her ex used to abuse her physically even during their relationship and even after that. And the most shocking part was she didn't even told her sister about that. My blood was boiling on hearing that but I couldn't do anything and felt so helpless. Eventually, I told her sister about this but this kept happening even after this. She tried to protect her but her ex found a way to still hurt her. Finally, I convinced her to talk about this to her sister and she talked but still they took no action. Then, one day she went to her ex's sister's function even after I told her not to, but she still did cuz she was invited. And the worst thing happened. He raped her there. She was broken inside. I was hurt too. In that moment of anger, I broke up immediately, but soon realised I shouldn't have done that and I was the only one she trusted. Told her we are not done yet and I am here for you. I don't want to remember that event but this really boiled my blood. She told her sister and finally they went to his home and told their family. He was beaten finally but that mf deserved much worse. Their family were apologising so they didn't took any legal action. Even after going through all this, she still talks normally.
Two days back, her sister told me to break up with her and it would be better for both. I couldn't understand how it would be better for her. I know she won't be able to live without me and hence, I didn't want to do. She said she wanted her sister to live this phase alone which is her best phase. She told if we won't do if ourselves, she will interfere and everyone will get hurt. Hearing all these, I decided to break up but still stay as a friend whom she can confide. For context, we broke up twice before but cuz of having short term memory loss, she forgot and I knowing her condition so convinced myself to be in relationship. I never had any problem to be with her. So we broke up that night. She got too sad, even I got. but we handled ourselves. But the next day her sister with her fiance went to goa leaving her alone at home. I don't know what she thinks and she even care about her or not. She don't feel like sleeping at night so I used to talk regularly so she don't feel alone and even talked yesterday. I don't know if she remember about our break up or not.
I feel like this incident will stay always with me and I don't know what will happen. Kitni bhi ziddi ho yrr but hai to my first love. I badly want her to stay forever. I want to marry her and give her all the love she deserves. I want her to be happy always. I want to feed her food from my own hands. I want to care for her. I want to make her sleep when she have headaches. I want to hug her, kiss her forehead. I just want to be with her forever. I LOVE HERR. I would have fought with the whole world for her, but this cancer and distance really fucked usšŸ˜šŸ˜

How the Mercy of God, Not the Mongolian Mountains, Helped a Couple Become Parents After Twenty Years of Childless Marriage

It is not uncommon for people to come to the faith through sorrow or joy. I would like to share with readers a vivid story from my childhood, which made a strong impression on me and afterwards helped me come to the faith, get baptized and become a church-goer.
Our family was on a business trip to Mongolia in the 1980s. It was in the small town of Erdenet. We had a lot of friends there who we would visit regularly.
Among my parentsā€™ acquaintances there was a married couple, both pediatriciansā€”Mikhail and Lyudmila. They were a beautiful and interesting couple, but childless.
One day Mikhail and Lyudmila invited some close friends to their home; they said they would reveal a secret to all of themā€¦ Everyone was intrigued. They imagined various things, but no one hit the nail on the head.
Mikhail, an adult man who went in for sports, laughed and cried like a child. He now stood up, now sat down while sharing the secret with us:
ā€œLyudmila and I have been married for over twenty years now. We got married in our first year at university. We have always dreamed of a big, closely-knit family, with both daughters and sons, with a lot of noise and fun at home. We so wanted to hear children's laughter! But the doctors diagnosed infertility. We went to various sanitariums, underwent mud therapy and all kinds of other procedures. We saw the most famous doctors, and my wife courageously did various tests, some of which were painfulā€”but it was all in vain.
ā€œThree years ago we moved to Mongolia. Before that, there had been business trips to Latin America and Africa. And now Lyuda1 is in her first trimester. We didnā€™t tell anyone earlier because we couldn't believe it and were afraid it was a mistake. The first months of pregnancy are very sensitive and complicated. The gynecologist said that if we managed to get through the first three months, then we wouldn't have to worry anymore.ā€
Silence began to reign after such a speech. Even we, the children, stopped joking and laughing, somehow feeling the importance of what had been said, intuitively realizing that we had come into contact with a miracle.
After a few minutes the hospitable hosts were bombarded with questions.
Lyudmila was shining with happiness:
ā€œI had never thought that I, a physician and the author of several scientific articles, would utter the word ā€˜miracleā€™. But I can't call it otherwise! I have a grandmother who is a long-liver. Twenty years ago she said that she would pray for me in front of an icon of the Most Holy Mother of God. She believed in the mercy of the Lord and His Most Pure Mother. I showed understanding, thinking that she was an elderly woman and these were remnants of the pastā€¦
ā€œBut what has happened to us demonstrates that my religious grandmother was right: the mercy and love of the Lord are always with us. So many years of treatment and hope... Now we are both almost forty years old, and in six months we will become the happiest mother and father.ā€
Everyone congratulated the couple, saying kind and beautiful words. Then the guests tried to ā€œfigure outā€ what exactly had helped Lyudmila get pregnant. They suggested many different explanations: One of them assumed that a change of climate had had a wholesome effect on the woman's body, another one supposed that the presence of mountains and a slightly high radioactivity level had played a role, while others believed that the treatment, albeit belatedly, had borne fruit at last.
Lyudmila put a crystal glass of homemade fruit drink on the table and said seriously:
ā€œI see only one explanation: Itā€™s neither the mountains, nor the climate, nor the Gobi Desert. Itā€™s a miracle. My grandmother turned out to be much smarter than me. She always said that we would have a child, because the Lord and His Most Pure Mother are merciful. But until recently I stubbornly believed that since the doctors had diagnosed infertility, no prayers could help. Foolishly, I equated my grandmotherā€™s earnest prayers with the spells of various psychics who ā€˜cureā€™ childlessness with a decoction of a catā€™s tail or by sprinkling ashes on the bed! As soon as my pregnancy was confirmed, we immediately called my grandmother. I cried with joy and then, of course, I apologized for being skeptical about her words about God and faith. I thanked her.
ā€œBut, nevertheless, my Komsomol upbringing affected me. At the end of the conversation, I asked my grandmother why the Lord had sent us a baby only twenty years later, if she had started praying earlier. My wise grandmother replied that I would understand it myself. Now I know that getting ready to become a mother at my age (over thirty-five), when all attempts to cure infertility did not help; when, according to all biological laws, the chances of getting pregnant even for a very healthy woman decline, is a miracle of God. This is the power and mercy of the Lord. I recall how my grandmother once told me a chapter from the Gospel about how the elderly holy Prophet Zachariah and the holy Righteous Elizabeth became the parents of the holy Prophet John the Baptist, and how the Archangel Gabriel announced the Good News to the Virgin Maryā€¦ Before confirming my pregnancy, the doctors had ruled out uterine fibroids and cancer, re-examining everything and repeating tests many times, and only then did they tell me the good news: ā€˜Believe it or not, but marvelā€”you will be a mother.ā€™ When I asked them how it was possible, they smiled and said that such a phenomenon could only be called a miracle, as they could not explain it from a scientific point of view.ā€
The whole town of Erdenet followed the events in their family. Everyone offered their help, gave childrenā€™s clothes and toys. Lyudmilaā€™s husband walked with her before going to bed, bought groceries himself and cooked only healthy food intended for expectant mothers.
After a while, the couple went to Moscow for the birth. In due time, a beautiful, healthy boy was born.
Later, the happy parents sent us a long letter: after a month and a half, the baby was baptized with the name Zakhary (Zachariah).
At that time, the authorities began to return monasteries and churches to the Russian Orthodox Church, and many people began to go to church for confession and Communion. Mikhail and Lyudmila converted to the faith as well.

Been practicing my press on technique and I can see definite improvement!
I was going through my photos and Iā€™m glad to see such improvement! Iā€™ve gotten better at taking care of my cuticles, Iā€™ve gone from traditional nail glue to stickers to UV cured solid glue. Iā€™ve also spent way too much money on nails and supplies but Iā€™m a teacher and I guess this is my summer hobby now.

2024.05.16 07:34 glowshroom12 solider boy being immune to radiation makes sense if his entire structure is upped in durability equally combined with his immortality.

what happens when you get irradiated heavily is your chromosomes essentially shatter like shards of glass. your body basically becomes incapable of making new cells and you're basically deteriorating in real time. chromosomes provide the blueprint and instruction set for your body to replicate cells.
there's an actual photo taken of a japanese man's chromosomes post radiation, Hisashi Ouchi and shattered is the literal best way to describe his chromosomes, like broken shards of glass and unrecognizable.
if solider boys chromosomes are hundreds of times sturdier than a normal humans, plus his immortality making him highly resistant to degradation and mutation, it makes sense he's immune to radiation essentially. enough radiation might even damage homelander in a way it doesn't damage soldier boy since his body isn't immortal, which could alter his cells. homelander might not get shattered chromosomes but he might end up getting cancer if he's unlucky.

2024.05.16 07:00 blackteashirt Spotting issues in new build houses?

Hi all. Thought this would be the best place to ask as the other NZ subs are mostly full of idiots. Anyway, what are some of the things to look out for when buying a new build that might indicate it was rushed and could have future problems?
I've seen posts in the past showing screws and nails left rusting on the roof. Though that could just be minor.
Obviously the photos on trademe while it's still being built aren't a good sign either.
Unmown grass and rushed or unfinished landscaping.
But what about the structure itself, leak potential or issues with plumbing?
Would love to avoid as much future DIY as possible.

Advice Greatly Appreciated!
I recently purchased a set of the Olive & June Press On Nails. This is exactly the color I want when I go to my next nail appointment. Iā€™m thinking a sheer pink polish with some sort of sheer chrome on top. Do you have any suggestions for specific polishes/chrome powders I should request to achieve this look? Iā€™m after something on the more natural side and slightly cool-toned (my photo is attached.)

2024.05.16 06:15 Ok_Tackle9157 Bump on my lip

18 year old Male. I noticed a bump on my lip recently, Note I haven't had unprotected sex ever. But when I look back at photos for the past few years, I noticed the bump was there. It is located in the middle of where my upper lips meet. I'm confused if this is a type of cancer. Or something natural. For more information I spend most of my time working outside and its been like that since I was fourteen.

2024.05.16 06:05 BottleSoggy2401 Yearning for a Brighter Memory of Mom: My Wish

I wish for a better memory of my mom
Losing a parent at a young age leaves an indelible mark on one's memory. I was just 8 years old when my beloved mom passed away from uterus cancer at the tender age of 44. Those final three years of her life were spent amidst the sterile halls of hospitals. I was only 5 when she was active and looked like my mother, but after cancer took over, she no longer resembled herself. As a result, I donā€™t remember her much.
There are only two things I remember very clearly about my mom and me. One time, when a relative came to visit my sick mother, bringing fruits and sweets, I remember eagerly pleading with her to let me try a snack. However, she patiently held off until our guest had departed, and then she threw all the snacks across the room, getting very mad.
Another memory, tinged with mischief, revolves around a misdeed I committed just before her passing, either the day before or a couple of days before. I did something naughty or bad, and her reaction was swift and stern, asking my older brother and sister to catch me and beat me very badly.
These memories are all I have left of herā€”a few pieces of a life cut short. It's painful to admit that I struggle to recall even the contours of her face, relying instead on faded photographs to conjure a semblance of her presence. Whenever I feel sad or lonely, especially anything related to mothers, I just look at a photo of her with my father when she was young.
I wish I had a better memory, or at least that she would come to me in my dreams. The worst part is, she doesnā€™t even appear in my dreams. And as I navigate the winding path of grief and remembrance, I hold onto the hope that one day, her presence will grace my dreams, offering comfort in the darkness.
In my longing, I ache for real connections to her memory. I want cherished moments on video, snippets of her laughter, and activities we did together, all preserved forever. I yearn for a collection of memories, a treasure trove of moments frozen in time, to ease the pain of her absence.

2024.05.16 05:02 slugma123 39 [M4F] Portugal/Online - Are you tired of ordinary run-of-the-mill men? Sex chats? Snoozefests of words? Being asked for endless photos time and again? Stop. You deserve better. For once, you can meet a truly cultured man with whom to have amazing dialogues about pretty much anything.

Hello, whoever you are on your side of this screen.
Predictability and ordinarity bore me. The idea of casual sex makes me more asleep than a Snorlax. I also don't want to be asked "How are you?" for the millionth time. And photos - well, one is always more than enough.
I'm sure I'm not everyone's cup of tea, but I don't seek anything ordinary, either. I'm just an author and researcher currently living in Portugal, and looking for someone new and truly unique to inspire me. We can talk about pretty much anything, plus you can learn a ton of super unusual but cool stuff if you're also into culture, literature, legends, stories, etc. What else can I tell you about me? Well, I'm often told I'm the most interesting person people have ever met, but let's go here for ten groups of facts about me and my life:
1- I've travelled to over 100 countries in search of knowledge, my favourite place being the streams of water and forests in the north of the PyrenƩes, where I once placed my feet in the water and meditated for days.
2- I do not have a favourite book, but I do feel many marked my life. For example, Ovid's "Ars Amatoria" (as a teen), Cicero's "De Senectute" (as an adult), the "Ramayana" (as someone eager to explore other cultures), the "Nag Hammadi Library" (as a person interested in almost-lost religious texts), etc.
3- I once met a really amazing woman, we were together for 10+ years, we never married but we both knew neither of us was going anywhere else, I lost her in 2014 (and I don't want to talk about it), and I'm perfectly comfortable being single.
4- I've published over 80 books, between my real name and various pseudonyms, with the most sold having been top 100 on Amazon, and the least sold still stuck at under 10 copies (and it's intentionally supposed to sell very little).
5- In college I studied Computer Science, Psychology, French "LLCs" and Classical + Medieval Studies, but among my many passions you can also count Theology, Philosophy, Art, Mythology, Classical Music, Western Mysticism, Languages, etc.
6- I dislike social media and photos of people. I hardly ever take photos of myself or others, but I do have an enormous collection of photos I've taken around the globe, where I mostly tried to eternalize places and moments.
7- Apart from writing, I spend most of my free time as a volunteer for projects related to Culture, Children, and Mental Welfare. I also tend to donate to charity on a monthly basis, because I feel we should try to spread to others the good things we have in our lives.
8- Although I'm 39, I'm perfectly okay talking to much younger, or much older, people, because I feel they can also teach me a lot of things that I'm not necessarily familiarized with. And, in fact, one of my biggest pleasures in "real" life is talking to random people and learning new stuff from them.
9- I survived cancer and meningitis. I'm 99% okay, with the exception of a small physical problem most people never even notice.
10- I was recently "rejected" from a buddhist monastery for health reasons, since it seems my constant need for medication for an auto-immune disease would contrast with the simple life their monks need to have. So, yeah, that's mostly why I'm back online and posting this message.
So... if you are indeed tired of the usual messages and conversations, write me. Maybe you are indeed what I seek.

āœØ50 Shimmering YearsāœØ
My husband very rarely wants to pick my nail polish, but I caught him in a bargaining mood yesterday and this is what he picked out!
50 Shimmering Years is a discontinued polish from China Glazeā€™s The Muppets collaboration. You can still find it for not too much money, if youā€™re so inclined. I have a couple of similar polishes to this, but nothing in a glitter finish thatā€™s this exact shade of taupey champagne. Itā€™s really pretty. This bottle is almost empty, and Iā€™m not sure if Iā€™m going to repurchase this one secondhand or if Iā€™m going to try find a dupe.
The formula is respectable, but requires a ton of thinner. And the holo is really subtle, nothing like Holo Tacoā€™s or Cupcakeā€™s glitters. If youā€™re going for sparkly but still really office appropriate, this is the one.
The color is really hard to photograph. It reads more champagne in person than in photos, where it does read more taupe. I have warm peach undertones, for reference. I always wear my glitters over a base color because my nails are super super delicate and prone to shredding. This time, itā€™s 50 Shades of Greige.
Photos taken both indoors and outdoors in overcast lighting. Bonus photo of my thumb nail with some of the new stickers from ORLYā€™s Cloudscape collection.
The Manicure:
Base: Butter London - Horse Power
Color: Holo Taco - 50 Shades of Greige (2 coats), China Glaze - 50 Shimmering Years (2 coats)
Top: KBShimmer - Clearly on Top
Stickers: ORLY Cloudscape (Color Pass exclusive)

2024.05.16 03:56 scottmademesignup Dog gunshot to face

This is long; Iā€™ll try to make it quick. My husband and I live in the country and we have two dogs. People constantly dump the dogs they donā€™t want out here.
A few months ago, a young female pit bull was ditched and we called animal control and they couldnā€™t catch her. Eventually, she went under our neighbors fence and they kept her. The neighbor told me that they had her scanned and she was chipped. The registered owner had cancer and gave her away to another family and they are the ones who dumped her. They have 4 other dogs already who are mostly outside dogs.
The dog is able to get out from their fence and has done so for a while now. She walks all over the neighborhood, goes into other peoples yards and eventually she started crawling under a low spot in our fence and coming to play with our dogs. She has the sweetest personality, she is loving and she is not aggressive to other people or dogs but I do understand the fear people have of pits and then being cautious if they have livestock.
Today, my husband is home from work and sitting in our living room. The dog comes through our back dog door and is bleeding from her face. We assumed she got into it with another dog . He snapped a photo and it looks like a piece of her cheek was hanging down. I text our neighbor and ask if they want my husband to take the dog to the vet as they are at work. They said ā€œI donā€™t know. Not sure where one isā€. šŸ™„šŸ™„. My husband ended up taking the dog to our vet. They first quoted a cost of $400-600 and they would call with an update.
First phone call he gets with an update is that they looked in her mouth and she has a lot of broken teeth. They are going to keep working on her and will get back to us.
Second update is itā€™s worse than they thought. She was shot in the face. The bullet went in through her cheek, across part of her sinus and lodged in her jaw. They had to remove a piece of her mandible and she only has one viable tooth left on the right side. I asked them if we needed to be thinking about putting her to sleep and they said at this point no; she will look different and have to eat on one side of her face but she should be fine. They are keeping her overnight and we can go get her tomorrow.
Her owner next door has not asked for any updates. The fact that they haphazardly attempted to fix their fence with zip ties (that the dog busted through) and didnā€™t even care to ask how she was make us want to just tell them we are going to keep her.
My question is this: How is the healing process? Will she have a good quality of life or could this make the rest of her life uncomfortable? Iā€™m assuming soft food only but I guess I am bracing myself for the worst. We can offer her a safe and good home but I feel so terrible she is alone tonight and that some jerk shot her in the freaking face!!!

This is long; Iā€™ll try to make it quick. My husband and I live in the country and we have two dogs. People constantly dump the dogs they donā€™t want out here though.
A few months ago, a young female pit bull was ditched and we called animal control and they couldnā€™t catch her. Eventually, she went under our neighbors fence and they kept her. The neighbor told me that she was chipped and the previous owner had cancer so they have to her another family and that family dumped her. They have 4 other dogsā€¦
The dog is able to get out from their fence and has done so for a while now. She walks all over the neighborhood, goes into other peoples yards and eventually she started crawling under a low spot in our fence and coming to play with our dogs. She has the sweetest personality, she is loving and she is not aggressive to other people or dogs. I can see that for people who are scared of dogs or have livestock or cats, they are probably not a fan of roaming free. The neighbors know she gets out and the only attempt they made was to zip tie the hole in their fence and she busted through the zip ties in seconds.
The fact that they haphazardly attempted to fix their fence and didnā€™t even care to ask how she was make us want to just tell them we are going to keep her.
My question is this: has anyone else had a dog who was shot in the face and survived? How was the healing process? Iā€™m assuming soft food only but I guess I am bracing myself for the worst. We can offer her a safe and good home but I feel so terrible she is alone tonight and that some jerk shot her in the freaking face!!!

Cleanup Photo for Memorial Ceremony/Funeral
My sister-in-law just lost her father to cancer. This is the best version they have of this photo. They want to use it at his memorial. Would anyone be able to cleanup the face (large scratch), corner, and the image in general.
Best version, Iā€™ll send you a $5 Starbucks gift card code! šŸ˜¬
Thank you šŸ¤™

2024.05.16 01:39 Prestigious_Cr0w Should I be worried about cancer? 2 years of utter hell

30 years old/ female/ Amitryptyline medication/ not overweight, donā€™t smoke or drink
Timeline:
All testing except an initial calprotectin of 600 was normal: (colonoscopy {adenoma removed}, gastroscopy {gastritis}, mri small bowel) came back fine and were done in late 2022/early 2023. Had 4-5 calprotectins done since, all <60.
Mid 2023-now - Gut symptoms are worse, extreme excess gas, mucus and painful cramping that came every week or so followed by extreme diarrhoea episodes for 1-3 days.
Late 2023: - Started getting rashes on my chest, looked a bit like eczema and were mildly itchy. Eventually resolved.
2024: - Started getting recurring staph skin infections/boils
Other info: - Celiac test negative - I have Lindsayā€™s nails - H pylori negative - Normal protein electrophoresis - Normal abdominal ultrasound done 6 months ago - Normal blood work throughout the two years with one exception:
Previous bloodwork showing some abnormalities:
https://ibb.co/VT7CHcG
https://ibb.co/GdYSFXy
A following protein electrophoresis was normal, the same bloods were repeated a week later and were back to normal:
Most recent bloodwork:
https://ibb.co/Msr6GpH
https://ibb.co/kSRmN53
https://ibb.co/99VFjTw
https://ibb.co/bzH9V7F
Iā€™m petrified this is some plasma disorder - lymphoma, leukaemiaā€¦
The other part of me wonders if this is some auto immune process but Iā€™m really worried this is cancer and the anxiety is eating me alive. Would love any opinions or advice please! Thank you

2024.05.16 01:13 girlseekinganswer Hi quick question about the vertical line on my nail

Hi folks my name is S. Male. Iam from germany and 30 years old. I am 176cm tall and weigh 120Kg. Iam turkish/german, born and raised aswell as living in germany. Taking meds : L-Thyrox 100, Atorvastatin 10, metforming 1000 . I have a question.
Is this white stripe on my nail any reason to go to the dr ? Like I know skin cancer is mostly blackish but what does a white vertical line mean ?
