Afterthoughts

Today was a long day so this will be short today. I had to go out of town today and went past a Target, so I popped in to look around. I also stopped at one Wal-Mart but I was too exhausted and only ended up grabbing a couple items and then went on the long drive home. Then I remembered it was Wednesday and that my midweek bonus expires tonight, so off to the store I went again. I decided to do the midweek instead of the weekend warrior bonus, since my bonus last weekend was awful, and I expect this weekend's bonus to be awful too.
Thanks to the people who used my aisle ref. I was able to make a couple more bucks from those energy drinks and grab another can of Halfday!
 

Time Spent

I didn't pay attention to how long I was in the stores earlier today since I wasn't really there for deal items. To finish off my haul, I spent about 20 minutes planning (although I did get interrupted halfway) and then I was in the store for about 40 minutes including my regular shopping and I was standing at CS for a while to tell them the carts were blocking the lanes.
 

Food From Deals

Didn't make anything last week. I did put some sauce on Perdue chicken a few more times... which both of those were deal items. Didn't bother to get a photo though lol. I meant to make more bread, but that just didn't happen.
I might suspend this section for a while. I've been mostly getting things that can't really be combined into something worth showing (i.e. putting sauce on precooked chicken).

Tldr: sono 17 anni che la leadership Russa parla delle sue linee rosse su Ucraina, Georgia e Bielorussia, mentre non si ha la minima documentazione su piani o desideri di invasione dei paesi NATO. Se anche Putin ci stesse mentendo, e ordisse un attacco, la sproporzione delle forze in campo è tale che non è pensabile che la Russia possa uscirne se non tramite una guerra nucleare. Trovo che queste spinte di riarmo che arrivano da giornali e politici europei e statunitensi non siano così legate né alle vicenda in Ucraina né alla Russia stessa, alla cui minaccia non ci credono tanto neanche loro, ma abbiano più a che fare con la nostra idea di società in relazione ad un occidente la cui influenza sul mondo sta calando. Se i popoli europei vogliono tagliare lo stato sociale in funzione dell'industria bellica, lo scopriremo alle prossime europee.
Lasciatemelo dire, dopo anni di studio di vicende geopolitiche è veramente deprimente assistere a questa perdita di coscienza collettiva condotta a spada tratta da giornalisti e politici che si improvvisano fini conoscitori della materia e che fanno appello non al senso critico, ma alla pancia dei toni da guerra e ciò che questi comportano. Ma non mi dilungo troppo, vado ai punti:
È vero che la Russia ha intenzione di invadere paesi della NATO una volta realizzati i propri obiettivi in Ucraina?
Non possiamo prevedere il futuro, ma abbiamo letteralmente più di 20 anni di documentazione su cosa abbia detto la leadership russa, e Putin in particolare, in merito all'architettura della sicurezza in Europa e ai rapporti con i paesi NATO, qualche spunto da questo possiamo anche trarlo. E ogni analista militare o geopolitico che abbia studiato il tema sa che tali affermazioni sono sempre state al limite della monotonia: dalla conferenza sulla sicurezza di Monaco del 2007, Putin non ha fatto altro che ripetere che per lui esistono determinate linee rosse che la NATO non può in nessun modo superare, e sono la Bielorussia, Ucraina e Georgia. Sono 17 anni che la NATO sa (pubblicamente, per vie confidenziali da molto di più) che per la Russia quelli sono territori critici e che portare quegli stati nella propria alleanza militare avrebbe fatto esplodere un macello.
Rispetto a rivendicazioni, pretese o addirittura attacchi su altri stati membri della NATO, non c'è mai stata una singola parola. Anzi, in più riprese (l'ultima nell'intervista con Tucker mi pare) Putin ammetteva tranquillamente che la Russia non ha il potenziale per tener testa ad un'alleanza difensiva così grande come la NATO. Discorso suo a parte, questo lo vediamo anche dai numeri. I paesi NATO godono di economie molto forti, hanno un bacino demografico per un'eventuale mobilitazione molto più ampio di quello russo e spendono nella difesa molto più di quanto lo faccia la Russia. Anche senza contare gli Stati Uniti, il resto dei paesi dell'alleanza ha fatto spese militari per circa $ 400 mld nel 2023, 4 volte di più di quello che ha speso la Russia nello stesso anno a guerra in corso (che si attesta sui $ 100 mld). Gli Stati Uniti contribuiscono poi per circa $860 mld. Proprio per questo l'unico esito di un conflitto Nato-Russia sarebbe presumibilmente la guerra atomica, la sproporzione di forze è così grande che le chance che il conflitto resti convenzionale sono misere. Possiamo pensare che Putin sia razionale e non rischierà la guerra atomica per attaccare territori dove non ha nessuna sfera di influenza, oppure possiamo buttarla in caciara ipotizzando che sia un pazzo che non risponde alla logica.
Naturalmente se ipotizziamo che Putin sia razionale e che quindi possiamo anche ascoltarlo, porta ad un'altra domanda...
Ma ci possiamo fidare di quello che dice Putin?
Una tesi costante degli ultimi due anni è che fondamentalmente non ci possiamo fidare di nulla di quello che dice Putin perchè nel miglior dei casi è un bugiardo e nel peggiore dei casi è un pazzo. Quindi tutti i suoi discorsi su linee rosse, nato, sicurezza, ecc sono spazzatura in quanto non ci possiamo fidare di lui. In particolar modo sento spesso ripetere la questione dello schieramento di truppe e delle esercitazioni russe ai confini dell'ucraina nei mesi che hanno preceduto l'invasione, e di come la leadership russa abbia detto a più riprese che non aveva nessuna intenzione di invadere l'ucraina. Ora, tutto ciò è verissimo, ma è una rappresentazione estremamente riduttiva di quello che stava accadendo in quei mesi. Quello è stato il periodo in cui la diplomazia stava lavorando per prevenire la catastrofe, ed è incredibile come ciò sia stato rimosso dalle coscienze di tutti.
Per chi non se lo ricordasse, per quasi un anno prima dell'invasione ci sono stati incontri diplomatici su praticamente ogni livello tra leadership russa e Stati Uniti, NATO, Unione Europea e Regno Unito. Ci furono 3 congressi diplomatici di altissimo livello a Ginevra per discutere dell'assetto di sicurezza europeo tra paesi NATO e Russia, con oggetto principale lo status dell'ucraina, proprio al fine di evitare svolte drammatiche nell'escalation. Si videro a più riprese Wendy Sherman e Sergey Ryabkov, diplomatici esperti, e i ministri degli esteri e gli stessi presidenti degli stati si vedevano e si sentivano intensamente, sempre di più all'avvicinarsi di Febbraio 2022. Durante questo tipo di trattative è tecnica usuale quella del bastone e della carota, l'hanno usata i nostri leader così come l'hanno usata i russi. I russi promettevano di non voler attaccare l'ucraina, e al tempo stesso minacciavano "non specificate nuove misure, anche militari" nel caso in cui non si fosse addivenuti a qualche intesa sulle garanzia di sicurezza. Ryabkov ne fece diretto riferimento quando ormai fu chiaro a tutti che le trattative diplomatiche si erano arenate (ne avrei da dire sul fatto che per far arenare questo tipo di discussioni bisogna essere stati in due, ma tralascio). Lo stesso facevamo noi, rassicuravamo il voler trovare un'intesa diplomatica e allo stesso tempo minacciavamo serie conseguenze sulla Russia se alla fine avesse attaccato. Fa parte del gioco diplomatico questo tipo di dialogo, oserei dire che è normalissimo. Selezionare una parte delle affermazioni di una controparte solo per invalidare tutto quanto è stato detto in passato e cercare per farlo passare per un attore irrazionale si chiama strumentalizzazione politica. I russi hanno mentito sull'ucraina? Sì. Da questo possiamo dedurre che i russi non abbiano mai detto la verità? No.
Per inciso, queste sono considerazioni di facciata che sono destinate all'opinione pubblica, ai livelli "alti" sapevano estremamente bene cosa si stava rischiando e cosa stava per succedere, trovo che sia i Russi che gli Statunitensi si stessero preparando mentalmente e fattualmente da anni a questo scenario. Ma anche qui in Europa, in Polonia si allestivano da tempo campi profughi e si preparava sangue per le trasfusioni, i leader di stato si sentivano continuamente ed erano estremamente allarmati sul tema, e non è un caso che si siano incontrati diverse volte e i toni erano sempre più allarmati. Era anche previsto un incontro Putin Biden proprio per discutere di questo, poi saltato.
Ma se la Russia non ha intenzione di attaccarci, perché giornali e politici insistono su questa tesi?
A questo punto credo che ci siano più livelli da considerare riguardo alla vicenda.
La parte mediatica non credo meriti più di tanto attenzione, soprattutto perché credo sia ormai evidente a tutti che non cercano di rappresentare in modo oggettivo la situazione ma agiscono per provocare sensazionalismo nella migliore delle ipotesi o perché sono in palese conflitto di interesse nella peggiore delle ipotesi. Non seguo più di tanto i giornali nazionali, ma mi è bastato vedere come abbiano rappresentato certi temi giornali importanti come il Corriere, la Repubblica, la Stampa per intuire la distorsione imbarazzante che fanno di alcuni fatti. Se volete una view più equilibrata su queste vicende vi consiglio giornali come il Financial Times, il NY Times o France24. Non sono perfetti, ma almeno riportano le news in modo più completo.
La parte politica invece è più interessante, e a mio modo di vedere riflette un aspetto sottovalutato. Questi toni da guerra non sono legati più di tanto alla Russia o all'Ucraina, a mio vedere a livello "alto" sanno benissimo che la Russia non ha intenzione né mezzi per attaccare la Nato. Sono invece legati a noi e alla nostra idea di società. L'architettura europea come mezzo di pace è diventato un concetto obsoleto per una classe politica che si rende rapidamente conto che le nostre sfere di influenza nel mondo stanno calando, e che senza accorgercene stiamo già entranti nel cosiddetto mondo multipolare. E quindi cosa fare per sopperire a ciò? Ripensare il nostro sistema produttivo, e quindi la nostra società, intensificando esponenzialmente la spesa militare. Ma i soldi da qualche parte vanno trovati, e non verranno solo dal taglio dei condizionatori come ipotizzava qualcuno un paio d'anni fa, ma dall'istruzione, la sanità, la spesa pubblica in generale, per convertirle in spese militari per provare a mantenere la nostra supremazia globale. È veramente l'idea di Occidente e di Europa che vogliamo per il nostro futuro, buttando via decadi di saggezza maturata dopo la ww2 sul continente europeo? Ricordo che i paesi NATO senza gli Stati Uniti già sono al secondo posto per spese militari al mondo (più di Cina e Russia), vogliamo veramente sacrificare il nostro già zoppicante stato sociale per alimentare ancora più le casse dei soliti noti? Perché sì, per chi non lo sapesse, la guerra è sempre stato un ottimo business. Ecco, io penso che questi concetti vadano ben tenuti in mente visto che tra poco entreremo in campagna elettorale per le europee. E credo ne sentiremo delle belle.

Buona ragazzi, dopo il tizio con l'hobby degli orologi e il tizio degli orologi cassato, oggi voglio fare un po' di terrorismo, qualificarmi come nemico della patria e portarvi il caso di un altro orologiaio di ebay.
Parliamo di:
Sentenza 7290 del 2015. CTP di Roma.

Fatti di causa: Accertamento IVA e IRAP alla ditta individuale (anonima) per l'anno di imposta 2005.
Reddito di impresa e valore della produzione accertato: la bellezza di € 2.783,98
Volume d'affari: la bellezza di € 3.479,98.
È bello portare in tavole questi dati perché in effetti qui su reddit si ride e si scherza con cifre assai più importanti, ma fuori da reddit spaccano culi per molto meno, e questo è un bell'esempio che spero vi faccia fare le mutande marroni.

Ora, è vero che il tizio è chiamato in causa come ditta individuale fin dall'inizio. Ed è anche vero che negli anni 2006 e 2007 le transazioni sono DAVVERO interessanti, si superano le centinaia (e non si tirano neanche in ballo gli importi). Però i fatti di causa cosa riguardano? Solo il 2005. Solo 54 transazioni.
Azzardo una reinterpretazione logica dei fatti:
- Tizio comincia a vendere orologi su ebay (2005)
- vede che gli dice bene e apre partita iva (2006)
- regolarizza la posizione quindi da quel momento
- per il pregresso butta tutto nei redditi diversi sperando che gli dica bene.
Spoiler: non gli ha detto bene per niente. Riconosciuta l'attività di impresa e riassoggettati alle giuste imposte anche i proventi dell'anno 2005.
Bisogna dire, sempre per onor di cronaca, che questa sentenza si incastra in un vero e proprio piano operativo della GdF per stanare gli evasori nel periodo 2004-2007 (preistoria praticamente) e che lo stesso eBay era partecipe, tant'è che si può trovare tranquillamente questo piccolo estratto online:
“Gentile utente, eBay ha ricevuto dalla Guardia di Finanza una richiesta di informazioni relativamente agli utenti residenti in Italia ai quali eBay, negli anni dal 2004 al 2007, ha emesso fatture per importi complessivi annui superiori ad euro 1.000,00 e che, nel medesimo periodo di riferimento, hanno venduto 5 o più oggetti nel corso di un anno. Vogliamo informarti che il tuo account rientra in questi parametri e che i dati consegnati sono: Nome e Cognome, Ragione Sociale (per gli account business) ID utente, Indirizzo, Recapito telefonico, Indirizzo e-mail, Codice Fiscale, Estratto degli importi fatturati da eBay superiori ad euro 1.000,00 annui, per ogni anno dal 2004 al 2007 e numero di oggetti venduti per anno, se maggiore o uguale a 5. Se pensate che i limiti fossero stringenti, i 1000,00€ erano solo le commissioni di ebay. Non i ricavi totali. E il Tizio, nel caso di specie ci stava al di sotto. Perché se per gli anni 2006-2007 che l'hanno trovato lui stava già a posto non si può dire lo stesso per l'anno 2005. Sono andati a ritroso da una posizione regolare per sgamarne una irregolare.
L'accertamento non riguarda l'irpef. Quella stava a posto perché il tizio aveva buttato tutto nei redditi diversi. E pensava di stare tranquillo così. INVECE...
Ora, alla luce di questo piccolo estratto di storico valore e della normativa unionale circa le vendite online... si può azzardare qualche speculazione sul futuro (presente ormai in realtà)?
A comunicazioni automatiche (di solito) equivalgono letterine automatiche, facilitando il lavoro degli accertatori e aggravando quello dei contribuenti che devono barricarsi dietro delle difese convincenti. Arriveranno anche stavolta?

Goemf sit in sy grot-skuiling, teen die hang so 30 treë van waar die branders oor die rotse breek, en dink hy aan die laaste paar dae, oppad hierheen. Hy was moeg, moeg gejag en sy kake was seer van al die taai vleis van buffels, renosters met net hier en daar ‘n sagte voeltjie wat hy met ‘n klip doodgegooi het. Hy was gatvol van elke dag nuwe spies- en pylpunte maak met die skerp klippe wat hy opgetel het. Hy was gatvol vir sy versameling spiese en die hyena’s wat hom gevolg het; In kort, hy was ordentlik gatvol. En sy fokken ma, Loesie, wat hom elke dag aanjaag om nog ‘n eland te soek, ‘n koedoe, ‘n olifant, énige donnerse ding solank sy net kon vreet, die dom biets! En die jagbare diere het ook al minder geword soos hulle lateraan self gefokkof het oor hierdie matriargale tirranie van die heel dag te wil doodmaak en vreet.......

Toe hy wakker word, op die renosterbosmatras langs Poenda, drink hy van die water uit die perlemoenskulp en spoel sy gesig met die res daarvan af. Hy stap na die drupkelder en skep die skulp weer vol en gaan sit dit by Poenda neer.
Dit is nog halfdonker met die son se lig wat vanagter die oosterkim helderder word. Hy krap tussen sy ou werpspiese rond en vind ‘n ligter een, een waarvan die balans op sy vinger toets. Die volgende dag, na ‘n rustige nag, sê Poenda vir Goemf: “Yhgfhgf fhgf ghjh hghg. Erhgfh gfhgf.” Sy sê sy moet ‘n draai gaan stap want sy moet ‘n plassie maak. Sy sê nee, Goemf moenie saamkom nie want daar is niks om na te kyk nie en hy hoef nie so beskermend op te tree nie. Die ongebore baba is veilig en daar is sekere dinge wat sy op haar eie en alleen móét doen! Moenie soos jou ma wees nie!
Toe is sy daar uit en Goemf weet nie waarheen nie. Moerig en dikbek neem hy een van sy groter ou spiese en klim teen die krans af; See toe!
Hy spring van rots na rots en kom op poele af waar hy nog nie voorheen was nie. Hy sien groter visse en snaakse spinnekoppe onder die water. Hy probeer met sy spies ‘n vis raak gooi maar sien dat dit elke keer bo-oor is! Hy wonder wat die rede is want hy is dan die een wat omtrent átyd raak gooi!? Toe hy eers sy mik-tegniek aanpas, vind hy dat hy nader aan die kol is, en toe die son al hoog sit tref hy sy eerste vis, een wat omtrent voorarmgrootte is. Nou begin hy dit éérs geniet! Rats en vlugvoet is Goemf, soos hy haastig terugkeer na die skuiling, met die 4 visse wat hy aan ‘n sening geryg het. Poenda sit op sý klip en gluur vir hom toe hy daar aankom! Hy sê: “Igfj! Goemf het meer as ooit tevore moes opstaan om water in die drupkelder te gaan haal. Soms het hy op sy klip gaan sit en die weerlig in die verte dopgehou. En gewonder waaróm dit daar is? Hy het gewonder of dit nie dalk is omdat hy “mooi” begin betwyfel het nie. Hoekom is die weerlig daar wanneer mooi weg is?
Dan gaan hy langs Poenda lê maar hy weet hy kan nie slaap nie en hy weet sy is ook wakker. Maar hulle praat nie.
Toe dit eers lig is, gee hy nie vir Poenda ontbyt nie. Hulle peusel aan die vinkelbolletjies wat eintlik bedoel was om ‘n lekkerny te wees.
Hulle praat nie baie nie. Poenda wil weet wat die weerlig is waarna hulle gekyk het? Goemf sê hy weet nie maar dat hy al gehoor het dat as dit naby kom dit die veld aan die brand kan steek. Hy het gehoor dis oor ‘n kwaai gedierte in die lug wat niemand kan sien nie. Hulle sê mens moenie hom kwaad maak nie want dan raak hy nóg kwaaier. Goemf vertel vir Poenda van mooi en as dit weg is kom die weerlig. Hy sê hy dink dat as mens mooi weggooi dan raak daardie gedierte kwaai. Hy sê hy dink die gedierte was nie baie kwaad nie want anders sou dit sommer álles hier aan die brand kom steek het.
Poenda vra: ”Ghghf hjhg fg?”, wat beteken: “Wat is dink?”
Goemf weet nie wat dink is nie. Hy vertel haar van sy nat oë van die vorige aand en hy ook nie weet wat die betekenis dáárvan is nie. Is daar ‘n fontein in sy kop, is dit soos die drupkelder? Poenda weet ook nie maar as dit weer gebeur sal sy proe daaraan.
Buite is dit oortrokke en die lig is min. Goemf besluit om swartmossels te gaan pluk en ‘n dag se voorraad na die skuiling te bring, hy sou nie vandag weer visse gaan jag nie.
Fyn reëndruppeltjies maak sy gesig nat terwyl hy die grootste mossels wat hy kan kry versamel, Hier en daar kry hy ander soorte skulpe teen die rotse en ook groot perlemoene wat hy afstamp voordat hulle met mening vassuig.
Toe hy met sy “oes” terug by die skuiling is begin dit harder reën. Hy sit die sak met skulpvis neer en gaan na die renosterbosmatras waar Poenda lê, Hy neem haar hand en sê: “IUHg hjhg jhkjh, sjhkjj”. Dit beteken: “Kom saam met my na buite, asseblief.” Poenda weet nie waarom nie want dit reën buite. Maar die mooi is in elk geval nou weg en sy staan met sy ondersteuning op en skuifel saam met hom na buite, om in die harderwordende reën te staan. Hy staan met sy arms en hande om haar gevou en hou sy gesig na die reën gekeer, Sy sien hoe die reënwater oor hom loop en hoe sy oë nat word. Met haar gesig ook na die reën gekeer word haar eie oë ook nat. Toe bring sy haar mond naby aan Goemf se oë en lek die nattigheid weg. Stil, net die geruis van die gietende reën.

Hy gaan sit toe weer op sy klip voor in die grot en hy dink tewyl dit steeds reën: “uuktfbkj ett hhiuuh!”, wat beteken; ‘Blombos is beslis ‘n mooi plek!” (Let op die verandering van die vernekulêr)
Dit was aand en dit was môre
Afgesien van die gebeure van die vorige twee dae het Goemf en Poenda eintlik baie rustig geslaap, alhoewel Poenda die baba gevoel skop het en so nou en dan ‘n gedempte gilletjie gegee het. Al het hy geslaap het Goemf in sy onderbewussyn geweet dat die tyd vir die kind se geboorte al hoe nader gekom het. Tog was hy nie onrustig nie.
Die reënwolke was weg en die varsgewaste aarde het in die son gelê en blink. Hy sou nie vandag kos gaan soek nie want dit wat hulle opgegaar het was meer as genoeg om hulle te kan deursien tot die aand toe.
Om die verveeldheid teë te werk, terwyl hy op sy klip sit, begin hy allerhande strepies en prentjies teen die wande van die grotskuiling maak. Met oker, wat hy iewers opgetel het teken hy ‘n vissie. Hy teken ook ‘n hasie. Totdat hy eindelik verveeld raak daarvoor ook. Hy staan op en gaan kyk of Poenda nog gemaklik is en daar nog genoeg drupkelderwater in die perlemoenskulp is. Hy sien die kleure van die perlemoenskulp en hy wonder daaroor, waar kom dit vandaan?
Terwyl hy op sy klip sit en wonder oor die kleure in die perlemoenskulp neem hy een van sy ou pyle en speel daarmee soos om te tik daarmee, dit op sy vinger te balanseer of sommer in die lug op te gooi en weer te vang. Hy sit dit tussen die palms van sy hande en kom agter dat hy dit vinnig kan laat draai as hy sy palms in teenoorgestelde rigtings beweeg. Hy wonder of hy iets daarmee kan doen, iets soos ‘n gat in ‘n klip maak?
Van agter in die skuiling roep en vra Poenda: “ETRTR, hghgf hgh gfhf?”, wat beteken: “Goemf, wat maak jy?” Hy antwoord: “Fghg ghgf ghh,” – “Ek speel.”
“Ek speel?”, dink sy, en sonder om te weet wat dit beteken draai sy haarself op haar ander sy om.
Goemf sit ‘n plat klip, wat hy een dag opgetel het om mee te gooi , op die grond tussen sy voete neer. Hy wil kyk of hy met die pyl ‘n gat daarin kan maak. Vinnig beweeg hy sy palms en sien dat daar tog ‘n gaatjie begin vorm, Hy kyk na die punt van die pyl en sien dat dit nou ‘n ander kleur het, donkerder. Vinnig beweeg hy sy palms dan weer en elke keer lyk dit of die gaatjie groter wil word. Maar elke keer sien hy die pyl se kleur word donkerder. Hy voel daaraan en voel dit is warm. Oor en oor draai hy die houtstokkie en toets hoe warm die punt is. Hy kom agter dat hoe langer en hoe vinniger hy dit draai hoe warmer word dit! Vinnig, vinniger en langer beweeg hy sy palms tot daar skielik, rook uit die pyl kom en dit aan die brand slaan! “Fghgfh hgjhg!”, sê hy. Dit beteken: “Liewe fôk!”
Poenda vra van agter uit die skuiling op die renosterbosmatras: “ETRTR, hghgf hgfr?”, wat beteken: “Goemf, wat beteken vloek?”
Op sy klip het Goemf óók gewonder wat vloek beteken, terwyl hy dink: ‘Blombos gaan nog ‘n befôkte mooi plek word!”
Dit was wéér aand en dit was wéér more
Goemf was vroeër as gewoonlik wakker. Vandag wou hy vir Poenda verras met ‘n ontbyt soos daar nooit was nie. Met ‘n huppel in sy stap is hy vroeglig in die fynbos om weer ‘n hasie te soek. Hierdie keer neem dit nie lank nie en die afslag doen hy sommer net daar waar hy dit vaskeer.
Terug by die skuiling kry hy die pyl van gister en begin om die punt warm te draai op die klip. Nie lank nie en die houtpyl slaan aan die brand. Hy het vooraf fyn houtjies en takke nadergetrek en druk die pyl se brandende punt daarin sodat dit ook kan brand. Dit werk! Hy sien die rook en hy sien die vonke. Hy dink aan die wolke en die weerligblitse van die ander aand toe mooi verdwyn het. Versigtig en opgewonde sien hy hoe die vlammetjie ‘n vuur word en op ‘n eienaardige manier lyk dit vir hom mooi, hy kan prentjies sien kom en verdwyn. Die vlamme se kleure begin hom herinner aan die perlemoenskulpkleure wat hom aan die dink gesit het. Baie van die kleure is dieselfde.
Hy neem ‘n stok wat hy van ‘n tak afgebreek het en steek die punt daarvan deur die hasie wat hy vroeër gekry het. Nou wil hy iets probeer wat nog nooit probeer is nie, vóórdat Poenda wakker word! Hy hou die hasie oor die vlamme en sien hoet die vetjies daaruit begin loop en op die kole val en sis. Die rook dwarrel om hom en dan haal hy dit uit die vlamme, kyk daarna, ek hou dit dan weer daarin.
Van binne die skuiling roep en vra Poenda, wat intussen wakker geword het van die rook; “ETRTR, gfgfuu ghhf hgjhg”, wat beteken: “Goemf, wat is ruik?” Hy antwoord: “Yhhgj gghgfhg hfhfhgf. Yhhjh hgjh hg?”, hy weet nie, is dit soos ‘mooi’, vra hy? Poenda sê sy weet nie maar sy dink so.
Terwyl hulle saam eet aan die hasie wat op hierdie nuwe manier voorberei en voorgesit word, gesels die twee land en sand. Goemf vertel haar van hoe hy aan die vuur gedink het en hoe dit net die gedierte in die lug is wat dit maak as hy kwaai is met weerlig. Hy vertel hoe die rook amper soos die wolke uit die pyl gekom het en hoe daar ook vuur daaruit gekom het! Sy sê hy moet versigtig wees want hy mag dalk die gedierte in die lug kwaad maak! Hy lag en sê nee, dis nie ‘n probleem nie. Hy sê dis die wolke wat teen mekaar vryf en dit doen, nie ‘n gedierte in die lug nie. As dit ‘n gedierte was het daardie weerlig hom mos as al lankal al uitgebrand!
Sy is ‘n bietjie skepties wanneer sy vra: “Tghg jhhg th?”, “Wat is lag?”
Dit was aand en dit was more, die eerste dag
Goemf en Poenda se eerteling is gedurende die oggendure van die nag gebore. Goemf het gehelp en wanneer hy “Uggh” sê, dan “Uggh” Poenda, en kreun van die pyn. Weer sê Goemf “Uggh”, en dan “Uggh” sy, todat die seuntjie uiteindelik uit haar gekom het. Hulle het hom met water van die drupkelder afgespoel en in ‘n karossie wat hulle van hasievelletjies gemaak het toegedraai en in Poenda se arms gesit sodat hy aan haar kon drink. Goemf was nie seker nie maar het hom verbeel dat sy seuntjie geglimlag het. Wanneer dit lig word sal hy beter kan sien.
Vanaf sy klip het Goemf gesit en dophou hoe die son in die ooste opkom. Die see was spieëlglad. Hy het aan sy en Poenda se seun gesit en dink.
Later het Poenda, met die baba in haar arms, haar by hom kom aansluit waar hy op sy klip gesit het. Sy sê: “Thgg gfgf fhgf gggg gggh hhfsa”. Dit beteken: “Weet jy dat hierdie seun van ons, ons op ‘n dag sal verlaat?” Goemf antwoord haar: “TTR hgj jhgjh dfd iklkjll. Hjhhgj gjhg hgjg. Tryt gfg gf, gfgfg hhh?” – “Ja, ek weet. Almal moet weggaan. Maar hy sal nooit vir ons verlore wees nie, hy sál altyd weer terugkom, weet jy?”
Poenda knik met haar kop; ja, sy weet.
Sy vra vir Goemf: “FDfhgjhg hgjhg jhhh ggg?”, wat beteken: “Watter naam sal ons hom gee: Hy antwoord: “TRDE, gfg hgjhg hkjhk jhkh” – “Adam, dit beteken eerste mens”
Haar oë flits soos weerligblitse: “HGJHG gjh gjhgjhg! TRDE hgjh hgjh hghj H hjhg” – “Is jy dan nou heeltemaal befôk en van jou trollie af! Adam is ‘n kak naam en dit herinner hopeloos te veel aan daai kamstige gedierte in die lug wat die mooi wegvat!”
Hy vra: “Tgh hgf hhg?” – “Nou wat dan?,” en sy antwoord hom: ”Gjhjjhktjie. Dfgd hghg hjhjhjh hhhh hehehehehehe.” Dit beteken: “Goemfie, die een wat soos sy pa geléér het om vir homself te kan lag!”
“Rgfd gfhg hhu hgyu”, sê Poenda verder aan hom op ‘n geïrritterde, dog kort en kragtig, manier:
"Lig jou gat nou van jou fôkken klip af sodat ek kan skoonmaak hier waar jy gemors het! Gaan vang vis of doen iets. Gaan soek vir jou ‘n bleddie werk, man! Genade! Só kan dit mos nie aangaan nie! Jou paternity leave is nou verby, gaan werk, jou gevrekte bliksem!"
