2024.05.29 11:37 vanm-df S-Rank Concept Ideas pt.2!!

Hey all! I'm very thankful for the support received in my first concept ideas post and am very excited to share some more that I've thought about! once again, names and backstories are there for context, but the game mechanics and skills are the main focus :) Here goes Part 2!
(Some of the explanations are very wordy so please bear with me)
Part 1: https://www.reddit.com/thespikegame/comments/1d2cosh/srank_concept_ideas_pt1/
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Name: Takehibara Rank: S Position: Setter
Description: Plays on the same team as Nouya Toshio(MB) and Hito Sazaki(WS). Takehibara is an experienced setter and the captain of his volleyball team. What makes him stand out as a setter is his high perceptiveness and adaptability on the court which he uses to quicky identify weaknesses in the opposing team's game. With his game sense and perception he leads his team's attack by running his offense in a way which is flexible and can exploit the weaknesses of the other team. Takehibara also has 20/20 vision (just some more little details).
I figured I would flesh out the team which I made in my previous post, this team could be a great addition since it seems in the future Suncyan hinted that we could be going back to Japan and its volleyball league. Where Valentia Spike has power, and Art High has floor defense, this team (which I'm open for any team name suggestions) would shine in its unpredictability and ability to counter your defenses (blocking and receive, especially blocking) and would be a challenging team to play against and play as.
Height: 178cm Total stats: 585
Attack: 125/160 >> 160/160
Defense 100/140 >> 125/140
Jump: 140/160 >> 160/160
Speed: 120/140 >> 140/140
Active ability: Perception (Mode Switch/No cooldown)
Takehibara is able adjust his setting style while on the court in order to target the opposing team's weaknesses.
Mode 1: Zero-Tempo:
Takehibara runs a faster offense with his hitters. He will set similarly to Ahyeon, minus tempo attacks and fast paced follow up, 3-ball sets (in volleyball terms) to his wing spiker. When setting middle quicks, the spike power is slightly increased (+5). This mode is best used against opposing team's with weak floor defense, speed and when the other team's players are out of position.
Mode 2: Balanced:
Takehibara runs a more conservative offense which prioritizes high balanced sets, he will also be less likely to perform a jump set and mostly set from the ground like NN, making his set harder to read. In this mode his middle and outside sets will have a similar trajectory and the middle blocker Ai will run at a tempo where he jumps at the same time as the setter releases the ball to throw off blockers. in this mode, sets to the wing spiker will give a slight power boost(+5). This mode is best used against teams with better blocking, height and all rounder teams.
The vision for this s-rank character is to be flexible against different teams and maximize the efficiency of his S-rank team (+Toshio and Sazaki) when paired together. I imagine in playstyle, you would use his first mode state to boost the effectiveness of Nouya Toshio's ability (Vanishing Spike) by setting quicks more frequently at the start of a rally/game when the enemy has a high stamina bar. Then you would use his second mode to boost the effectiveness of Sazaki's ability (Chaotic Spin) later in the rally/game when the opposing team's stamina bar is depleted.
Passive ability: Observant
Takehibara keeps a keen eye on the court and when preforming a setter dump, will dump the ball towards open space making it harder for his opponent's to reach.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Name: Hwang-jin Rank: S+ Position: Setter
Description: Korea's U20's men's national setter. When he was a kid, Hwang-jin didn't grow up with many volleyball friends so he spent most of his time alone working on his setting technique and honing the skill which an individual can use to influence the game by themselves, his serves. Due to his passion for volleyball and his hard work, he is a formidable player who has even been invited to train with the Men's national team and is gaining popularity with the younger generation of volleyballers. Hwang-jin believes that what makes a setter great is when they can uplift their teammates and hitters to new heights, and he abides by this in his gameplay.
(What better way to commemorate the release of playable setter on mobile than an S+ rank Setter!? Also, I really enjoyed playing as a setter on the pc version, and aim for this setter to be very fun to play)
Height: 190cm Total stats: 595
Attack: 160/190 >> 190/190 >> (210 during serve)
Defense 110/160 >> 120/160
Jump: 140/165 >> 165/165
Speed: 120/160 >> 140/160
Active/passive ability: Hybrid Serve
(+20 power and +5 jump when serving)
Hwang-jin is a monster on the service line and has developed a unique serve which is difficult to anticipate for receivers. He has perfected his jump serve and jump floater approach so that before he contacts the ball in the air, he can perform both a Top spin, power serve or a jump floater with an unpredictable pathway. His Topspin serves are given a power boost (+20) due to his confidence and mastery whereas his Jump floater travels faster and more disjointed/shifty with the ability to drop suddenly and rise suddenly, or both! (it would be almost impossible to cleanly receive unless u stand exactly where the ball lands).
Combinations:
Jump serve approach + Top spin serve (Nothing new, but more deadly due to power boost)
Float serve approach + Float serve (Nothing new, but more deadly with floater effects)
Jump serve approach + Float serve (This is already doable but for Hwang-jin, It'll be way more effective)
Float serve approach + Jump serve (New mechanic and would be really interesting to ace with his attack and power boost)
He would have a silvery/white movement and ball trail with white flashing stars/light effects (similar to Sanghyeon's trail). His feints/floaters and setter dumps will also have this trail effect.
Passive ability: Fly High
Hwang-jin sets his teammates with absolute trust and this allows for his teammates to play better and 'fly higher'. When Hwang-jin gets a nice pass from his teammate and sets a chance ball, the team's jump stat is briefly boosted (+5 jump) (was going to be +10 but it seemed kinda busted).
His setting style would be similar to a defensive setter, balanced, easy to spike sets and won't set u up into a block.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Name: Daniel Cho Rank: S Position: Wing spiker
Description: A high school student who studies abroad internationally in the US and visits his family back home in Korea during his summer holidays. He is relatively new to the volleyball community in Korea and is much more familiar with the States as he plays in a Div.1 volleyball club. He is actually 1st cousins with Hwang-jin, Korea's U20's men's national setter (he sees him as an older brother) and was introduced to the sport by him. On the court, Daniel is a very well-rounded player but despite being on a Div.1 team, his team isn't considered a top level team. He is the kind of player who, when the team is in a tough spot, can always rely on to win the point and is very vocal on the court, never hesitating to demand the ball. However, due his teammate's over reliance on his ability to score, Daniel finds himself tiring out much quicker, and needing to be more selective on when he uses his full power.
Height: 182cm Total stats: 585
Attack: 130/160 >> 160/160 >> (170/180/190/200)
Defense 130/160 >> 120/160 >> (140/160 with +20 passive boost)
Jump: 130/160 >> 165/165 >> (170>175>180>185)
Speed: 130/160 >> 140/160
Passive ability: "Count on me"
Daniel gains a fixed stat boost to his lowest invested stat that doesn't add to the total stat count. Only applies when in a match, but will be represented in the player menu with a darker shade color in the stat menu to show the boost (+20)
Active ability: Ignition (4 charges / 5sec skill duration / 20 sec skill cooldown per charge exhausted)
Daniel exerts his true power for a brief moment. When consuming 1 charge, he gains +10 attack and +5 jump, these charges can be exhausted consecutively and the stat boost will stack, when exhausting multiple charges, the skill duration lengthens by 1 sec per charge (base 5sec>6>7>8>9).
He gains a fiery aura upon exhausting a charge and for the length of the skill duration.
Daniel does not have the boom jump animation (let me cook), instead, if all 4 ignition charges are simultaneously exhausted in one go, he then is able to boom jump and gains a fiery, spiral ball trail on his spike. The cooldown of his ignition charges will be sped up by 1.5x and slowly decreases over time (~50sec to fully recharge ignition charges compared to 80sec).
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Name: Kang-min & Yeo Chul Rank: S+ Position: Middle Blocker + Libero?
Description: Two best friends who have been playing volleyball since 3rd grade. Kang-min and Yeo Chul have played together in every team they've joined since junior up to (currently) college level and have formed an unbreakable trust and chemistry on the court. A competitive duo who have pushed each other into becoming incredible volleyball players.
(Introducing the 2 in 1 character concept, not sure how this will conflict with the developer's future plan to add more positions into the game but here goes nothing)
Kang-min: (the playable one)
Height: 194cm Total stats: 595
Attack: 165/185 >> 185/185
Defense 110/160 >> 100/160
Jump: 140/170 >> 170/170
Speed: 125/160 >> 140/160
Yeo Chul: (Ai controlled)
170cm tall and mirrors Kang-min's stats except that his and Kang-min's attack and defense stats are swapped.
Active ability: Dynamic Duo (Toggle on/off) (Cannot be toggled when ball is in play/during a rally)
Toggle ON:
Kang-min is unable to participate in serve receive, but he still remains on the court (and controllable by you). Instead, Yeo Chul will take a defensive stance in the middle of the court (+15 defense) and take initiative to pass the first ball and receive the opponent's serve. After Yeo-Chul passes on serve receive, he executes an athletic backwards roll and exits the court, gameplay resumes as normal.
However, If Yeo Chul makes a perfect chance ball pass (which will happen often due to high defense), Kang-min becomes inspired by Yeo Chul's impressive dig, making him want to one-up him and hit an even cooler spike. He is granted a power boost (+15) and speed boost (+10) for the duration of the play/rally.
When performing a perfect serve receive, Yeo Chul releases a simple shockwave effect on the ground with the words "Chance ball" appearing more clearly. Kang-min obtains a colored movement trail and a ball trail.
Toggle OFF:
When the ability is toggle off, Kang-min and Yeo Chul are both able to play on the court at the same time (4 player team) but their attack (defense for Yeo Chul) and jump stat is reduced (-10 and -5 respectively). In this mode, Kang-min is able to participate in serve receive and Yeo Chul will play defensively, covering for your spikes/blocks and staying deep in the court to catch receives by your team which ricochet backwards.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
If you've managed to make it to the end... I'm impressed because I didn't expect it to be that long either XD. Once again I'm open to any feedback and suggestions for these concept ideas! I'm trying my best to make them balanced and strong, whilst maintaining the fun factor. I will be continuing this with part.3 sometime in the future, but for now I hope you've enjoyed these characters I've thought up!

Experience top-notch training with the UFC Pro Fitness Training Glove. As someone who's put these gloves through their paces in the gym, I can confidently say that they've been a game-changer for my workouts. The compact design, coupled with the one-piece molded foam, provides maximum protection and comfort during sparring, bag work, and mitt work.
What stood out to me was the additional padding on the palm, which offered much-needed support and cushioning during intense training sessions. The reinforced thumb and palm, along with the double-stitched strap, ensured the gloves stayed firmly in place, preventing any shifting or discomfort.
The durable. 8mm PU outer material, combined with the mesh hand compartment, made my hands feel cool and dry even after hours on end of rigorous workouts. It's clear that the designers thought of every detail when crafting these gloves. However, no product is perfect. One minor downside I noticed was that the gloves were a bit heavy, which took some getting used to initially.
In conclusion, if you're in the market for high-quality, multi-purpose training gloves, the UFC Pro Fitness Training Glove is definitely worth considering. Its impressive features and performance have made it a reliable addition to my fitness routine.

🔗Professional Lace Sparring Gloves - Top-quality Design for Enhanced Protection and Comfort

https://preview.redd.it/c36xza2j2b3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=74b7a88b0b7eadbc9d57bf28a500a5c7b90d545e
The Pro Mex Professional Lace Sparring Gloves V3.0 were a game-changer in my daily boxing routine. The blue and white design added a touch of flair to my gear, while the long cuffs provided excellent wrist support and coverage. The 100% genuine cowhide leather felt durable and high-quality, offering both style and protection.
One of the standout features was the layered latex "memory" foam padding that provided excellent protection and a comfortable feel. It absorbed shocks with ease, making it perfect for intense sparring sessions. The gloves were also crafted with an equal weight distribution, ensuring a balanced and comfortable fit throughout the day.
The nylon satin water-repellent inside lining was a practical addition, keeping my hands dry during sweaty workouts. The attached thumb and articulated cuff further enhanced the gloves' overall fit and functionality. While the gloves were great, I did notice that they could be a bit heavy for some users, which might be something to consider when making a purchase.

🔗2022 Pedroia Fit A2000 Pro Gloves for Baseball Infielders

https://preview.redd.it/s77vathj2b3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a98d52d52be044e2c5850a14137bc58cfa20c423
I recently had the chance to use the Wilson 11.5'' DP15 Pedroia Fit A2000 Series Glove, Blonde in my daily life, and I have to say, it's quite impressive. The glove has a Pedroia Fit and TravelFit integration that delivers the same performance benefits of the original A2000 Series with minor internal changes.
One of my favorite features is the narrower finger stalls. As a baseball player, hand strength is crucial, and this glove maximizes it. Additionally, the smaller hand opening ensures a more secure fit for smaller hands, which I found incredibly useful.
The glove also includes A2000 features like Pro Stock Select, American Steerhide for rugged durability and an unmatched feel, and Dual Welting for a durable pocket and a long-lasting break-in. Plus, it has Pro Stock Patterns that are constantly improving.
During my time using the glove, I also took advantage of its DRI-LEX wrist lining that's ultra-breathable and transfers moisture from the skin. The flat finger binding also provides a softer and more comfortable feel with greater finger protection in the field.
Overall, using the Wilson 11.5'' DP15 Pedroia Fit A2000 Series Glove, Blonde has been an excellent experience. The break-in time was impressive, and the glove offers excellent fit and feel. While it might be a bit on the stiff side initially, the pros of the glove outweigh the cons, making it a great addition to any baseball player's gear.

🔗Franklin CFX Pro Hi-Lite Batting Gloves: MLB Choice and Exceptional Fit for Baseball Players

https://preview.redd.it/7uusc83k2b3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d04d6551a765ea2bf261025fb68df3eea261b4c4
Earlier this baseball season, I was on the hunt for a new pair of batting gloves for my kid. The Franklin CFX Pro Hi-Lite Batting Gloves in medium caught my eye. I decided to give it a try as they claimed to be the most popular on-field model used by MLB pros.
The moment he put these gloves on, he was amazed by how nicely they felt. The unique tectonic-fit inserts on the backhand provided added flexibility and the one-piece Pittards Digital cabretta leather palm ensured a superior grip in all conditions. The yellow color stood out, and the coaches loved the look of them too.
Though my son initially found the size a bit large, he quickly adapted. The CFX Pro series certainly lived up to its promise of a perfect fit around the bat handle thanks to Quad-Flex Technology. With regular use, the gloves have held up quite well, even with plenty of heavy play. However, they're on the pricier side compared to other options in the market.
Overall, the Franklin CFX Pro Hi-Lite Batting Gloves provided a solid batting experience for my son, and I would definitely recommend them to other families who are serious about the sport.

🔗Professional-Grade 11.5" Infield Baseball Glove for Aviid Players

https://preview.redd.it/bsp25nak2b3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=436370c95f65c552bfc96a9e8bd310d0be4db762
I've been using the PRO204W-2CBG baseball glove, a top-of-the-line option from Rawlings, for my daily games. Right away, the full-grain kip leather appealed to me. With its premium look and feel, I knew I had a high-quality product in my hands. The glove features a pro 200-pattern and I-web, designed to provide an ample pocket for exceptional versatility. The classic black and camel Wing-Tip design adds a touch of class, both on and off the field.
What truly sets this glove apart are its performance-driven features. The Pittards sheepskin palm lining is a game-changer. It provides superior comfort and wicks away moisture, allowing me to maintain grip and control throughout the game. The wool wrist strap and padded thumb sleeve offer lasting support under any conditions. The internal wool padding effectively forms and maintains my perfect pocket, ensuring maximum performance every time I step up to the plate.
While this glove has its perks, there are a few minor pitfalls. It might take some time and effort to properly break it in to achieve the perfect fit. Additionally, the glove has a right hand orientation, which might not be ideal for everyone. Nonetheless, despite its minor drawbacks, I've been thoroughly impressed with the PRO204W-2CBG. It's clear to see why Rawlings is the trusted brand of pros around the world. If you're looking for a high-quality, performance-driven baseball glove, look no further.

🔗High-Performance Pro Preferred Baseball Glove with Kip Leather and Sheepskin Palm Lining

Imagine stepping onto the field with a glove that feels like an extension of your arm. That's the experience you get when you put on the Rawlings PROS205-30C Pro Preferred Baseball Glove. As a passionate baseball player, I was drawn to this glove's reputation for being the go-to choice for players from high school to the pros.
The first thing I noticed was the full-grain kip leather, which provided an unmatched look and feel that instantly made me feel connected to the game. The 100% wool padding also played a crucial role in forming the perfect pocket, ensuring my glove was always ready for action.
One of the standout features was the Pittards sheepskin palm lining. Not only did it keep my hand dry and comfortable during long games, but it also added superior comfort that kept me focused on my game. The pro-grade leather laces added durability and strength that gave me confidence in the glove's performance.
What sets this glove apart from others on the market is the 30% factory and 70% player break-in process. This allowed me to complete the majority of the break-in process to achieve the perfect fit for my preferences. The right-hand orientation also catered to my throwing hand, ensuring a seamless experience on the field.
While the PROS205-30C Pro Preferred Baseball Glove had so many pros, there were also a few cons to consider. It required a bit of a break-in period to get it to the perfect shape for my hand, and the price point was on the higher side. Nonetheless, the benefits it provided were well worth the investment.
In conclusion, if you're an avid baseball player looking for a glove that delivers top-notch performance and a comfortable fit, the Rawlings PROS205-30C Pro Preferred Baseball Glove is definitely worth considering.

🔗Rawlings Pro Label 6 Baseball Glove: Speed Shell 11.5" Pro Preferred Hybrid Infield

https://preview.redd.it/0u6h0n5l2b3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75acc58d2089ad8651d71c736686615eab07bf92
As a baseball enthusiast, I tried out the Rawlings Pro Label 6 Pro934-2CTB 11.5" Baseball Glove in my game last week. This glove is a game-changer with its flawless infield design that perfectly blends the NP- and 31-patterns, providing the best of both worlds. The unique pattern, the combination of Heart of the Hide steer-hide leather and Pro Preferred kip leather, and the black and camel Speed Shell on the back make it a head-turner on any field.
The glove offered great control and quick ball transfers, proving that the world-renowned Rawlings brand did not disappoint. It's a perfect fit for both collectors and athletes, and I must say, the limited quantity makes it even more desirable. If you're looking for a reliable baseball glove with a sleek and unique design, then this Pro Label 6 glove might just be the one for you.

🔗Legendary Pro Classic MLB Batting Gloves: Classic, Soft, and Breathable

The Franklin Adult Pro Classic MLB Batting Gloves are a timeless favorite among baseball players, with their classic spandex-back design and durable sheepskin leather palm. These gloves are known for their comfortable fit, ultimate flexibility, and superior grip, even in the most challenging weather conditions.
I recently tried these gloves and was genuinely impressed with their performance. The one-piece pro-grade spandex hand back provided an extra level of comfort and flexibility, allowing for a more secure grip on the bat. The seamless PITTARDS DIGITAL Sheepskin leather palm proved to be incredibly durable, even after weeks of use.
One minor drawback I encountered was the elastic wristband, which felt a bit too tight for my liking. However, this did not impact the overall performance of the glove.
In conclusion, the Franklin Adult Pro Classic MLB Batting Gloves are a reliable and comfortable choice for baseball enthusiasts of all levels. Their superior grip, flexibility, and durability make them a worthwhile investment for those who take their batting seriously.

🔗Professional-Grade Boxing Gloves with Wrist Protection

https://preview.redd.it/5a2pgzql2b3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce0b8b405dd6c0b5c20fdbbf90c61eb48b365639
I recently had the pleasure of trying out these S4 Sentinel Lace Pro Leather Gel Boxing Gloves for my daily boxing practice. They're truly the epitome of comfort and a seamless fit, just like wearing a glove. There's zero break-in period with these - they're ready to strike on the very first try! I'm not the only one who's impressed, though, these are also trusted by professionals worldwide who put these gloves to the test.
The padded features in these gloves are the real stars. The gel injected, layered padding gives them the protection you need in the ring, perfecting it with both soft and firm elements, providing a firm grip and optimal hand position. Their wrist grooves add an extra layer of convenience, too, allowing room for the laces to be tightened for a perfect fit.
However, no product is perfect. The laces can be quite tricky to get right, taking a bit of a learning curve. And while they're great for protection, the softness can sometimes affect your precision during specific moves.
Overall, these S4 Sentinel Lace Pro Leather Gel Boxing Gloves provide the perfect blend of comfort, protection, and style for professional fighters. Despite the minor pitfalls, the positive experience with these gloves definitely outweighs the negatives.

🔗Rawlings Pro Preferred Baseball Glove for Elite Players

https://preview.redd.it/n90uwr8m2b3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8edca43216ce5fd53460bad82a2a1eb3feeada67
I recently had the chance to try out the Rawlings Pro Preferred PROS204-4BSS 11.5" Baseball Glove, and it truly lived up to the hype. As an avid baseball player, I was immediately drawn to the luxurious feel of the full-grain kip leather. This glove quickly became my go-to for all kinds of plays, thanks to its versatile Modified Trap-Eze web design.
Something that really stood out for me was the combination of the 30% factory and 70% player break-in. It allowed for a truly personalized fit, ensuring that the glove felt like an extension of my hand. The 100% wool padding and Pittards' sheepskin lining also made a huge difference, keeping my hand dry and comfortable even during the most intense games.
While I'm a huge fan of this glove, I did notice that it could be a bit heavy for some players, especially those just starting out. However, overall, this glove has definitely made a difference in my game, and I can definitely see why so many pros rely on Rawlings for their equipment needs. Highly recommended!

🔗High-Performance Pro Baseball Glove: Rawlings Pro Preferred 11.5" Full-Grain Kip Leather

https://preview.redd.it/hvv2anhm2b3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed1b31722e6a080e93936c763d45bfd04c3e64dc
I have been using the Rawlings Pro Preferred 11.5" Baseball Glove in my daily life, and it has become my go-to glove for all my playing needs. The full-grain kip leather offers an unmatched look and feel, and the 100% wool padding ensures that the pocket forms well and the glove retains its shape. The Pittards sheepskin palm lining keeps my hand dry and comfortable, even in the most challenging playing conditions.
The gloves are also incredibly durable due to the pro-grade leather laces and the padded thumb sleeve, which adds an extra layer of comfort for any length of play. I particularly love the 30% factory/70% player break-in, which allows the player to have hands-on control over the majority of the break-in process, resulting in a glove that fits perfectly to their needs.
The versatility of the glove paired with its large pocket makes it perfect for players from high school to the pros. Overall, using this Rawlings Pro Preferred glove has been a game-changer for me, and I highly recommend it to any avid baseball player looking for a high-quality, comfortable, and durable glove.

🔗Milwaukee 44 Pro Gloves: Ultra-Durable, ANSI Cut Level 4, High Visibility Polyurethane Dipped Glove

https://preview.redd.it/m8d05gum2b3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=085d4ab34ea522b85a35d3853ec87916b1599cfe
When I first put on these Milwaukee High Visibility Cut Level 4 Polyurethane Dipped Gloves, I was impressed by the snug fit and how the reinforced nitrile coating felt on my thumb and index fingers, providing that added level of protection in high wear areas. The high-visibility color made me stand out in my workplace, and the lightweight, breathable feel allowed me to wear them comfortably all day.
One of the standout features of these gloves is the Smartswipe technology embedded in the fingertips. It made using my touchscreen devices a breeze without having to take off the gloves, saving me time and hassle. The glove material was durable and held up well to wear and tear, but I did notice the cut-resistance level could be slightly improved for even better protection.
Overall, these Milwaukee gloves are a solid choice for those in need of high visibility and cut resistance, with the added benefit of touchscreen compatibility. They offer a range of sizes from small to XXL, allowing for a perfect fit.

🔗High-Quality Pigskin Baseball Fielding Glove for Optimal Performance

I recently had the chance to try out the Franklin RTP Pro Baseball Fielding Glove, and I have to say, I was quite impressed! One of the standout features for me was the use of pigskin leather, which gave the glove a soft and lightweight feel that was surprisingly durable. The glove's flexibility and shape made the break-in process a breeze, and I found it to be incredibly comfortable to wear.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks to this glove as well. Firstly, the sizing seemed to be a bit off for some users, and there were a few reports of the glove being smaller than expected. Secondly, the stitching between the thumb and index finger appeared to be different from the photo, which might not be a deal-breaker for everyone, but it's something to be aware of.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this Franklin RTP Pro Baseball Fielding Glove to anyone looking for a comfortable, durable, and affordable option for their baseball needs. With its pigskin leather construction and soft feel, it's a great choice for players of all ages and skill levels.

The Venum Giant 2.0 Pro Boxing Gloves have been an exciting addition to my daily fitness routine, especially with the variety of sizes they offer. These gloves have a brilliant blend of protection and agility, allowing me to land devastating strikes with a natural, lightweight feeling. I've appreciated their sturdiness, thanks to the combination of two layers of polyethylene and natural rubber sheets under the leather.
The EVA layer adds an extra punch of power while keeping the gloves flexible. I love the comfort the gloves provide, due in large part to the eco-friendly nature of the Argentinian Nappa leather used.
Overall, they've been a game-changer in my boxing sessions.

Buyer's Guide

Welcome to our 44 Pro Gloves buying guide! In this section, we will discuss the key features, considerations, and general advice for purchasing the right 44 Pro Gloves for your needs.

Material

https://preview.redd.it/ukdg5lxn2b3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea0321f96e3e51235dc65d665f2154793a36d097
The material of the 44 Pro Gloves is a crucial factor to consider. High-quality gloves typically feature durable materials that protect the hands from cold, moisture, and harsh conditions. Common materials include leather, synthetic fabrics, and insulated materials. Leather, for example, offers excellent protection and durability. Synthetic fabrics, on the other hand, provide insulation and are often more lightweight. Research and compare the materials used in different 44 Pro Gloves to find the best one for your needs.

Fit

Fit is another essential aspect of 44 Pro Gloves. Gloves that are too tight can cause discomfort and restrict blood flow, while those that are too loose may not offer proper protection. Measure your hand circumference and compare it with the manufacturer's size chart to ensure the best fit. Some brands offer adjustable cuffs and wrist straps to provide a more comfortable fit. A well-fitting glove will not only provide optimal protection but also enhance dexterity and grip.

Insulation

Insulation is another important factor when choosing 44 Pro Gloves. The insulation level should match the intended use and environment in which you will be using the gloves. For colder climates, look for gloves with higher insulation levels, while those for more moderate temperatures can offer less insulation. Insulation materials may include down, synthetic fibers, or other insulated materials. Research the insulation levels and materials used in the 44 Pro Gloves you are considering to find the best option for your requirements.

Waterproofness and Breathability

Waterproofing and breathability are essential features for 44 Pro Gloves, especially in wet or humid conditions. Look for gloves that provide both waterproofing and breathability to ensure that your hands stay dry and comfortable. This may involve using waterproof materials, such as Gore-Tex or other membranes, and incorporating moisture-wicking materials to prevent sweat buildup.

Additional Features

Some 44 Pro Gloves offer additional features that can enhance their functionality and performance. These may include touchscreen-compatible fingertips, reflective elements for visibility, or reinforced palm areas for improved grip. Research the additional features offered by different 44 Pro Gloves to find the ones that best fit your needs and preferences.
When purchasing 44 Pro Gloves, consider factors such as material, fit, insulation, waterproofing, and breathability. Remember to compare these features across different brands and models to find the best option that meets your needs and budget. With the right 44 Pro Gloves, you can ensure your hands remain warm, dry, and protected in any environment. Happy shopping!

2024.05.29 07:55 april_30 My Aid Access/MA experience in Texas

Hey guys! I just wanted to share my experience using Aid Access for an MA in hopes to help others because I too was surfing the web anxiously trying to find answers for my situation.
For background, I am a 20F college athlete and nursing student.
Found out I was 5 weeks pregnant in December of 2023. I knew that there was no way I could have a kid in college while playing volleyball and my boyfriend also played football for the school so we would absolutely have no time or resources to have a child. I live in Texas where abortions are pretty much illegal, so I was convinced we would have to travel a state over to New Mexico in order to get an abortion, until I found Aid Access. I ordered the pills off of their website and they came in about 5 days, which was much quicker than I expected.
When the pills came in I was around 6 weeks pregnant. I read a lot of subreddit posts saying to have a heating pad, your favorite snacks and maxi pads on standby for when you take the pills so I had all of that. I took 4 pills and placed them under my tongue to dissolve for 30 minutes like the instructions said. About 20 minutes in I already felt my uterus starting to ache. I read that most people cramp when they take these pills but for me, I just ached. I rarely ever get period cramps. Instead, my uterus will tend to "ache" when I get period pains, which is what happened when I took the pills. The ache was stronger than my usual period pains, but still manageable. About 45 minutes after taking the pill, I felt the urge to poop, went to the bathroom and had some mild diarrhea (which is a normal side effect). After that, the aching was still pretty uncomfortable so I used my heating pad. About an hour in is when the bleeding started. After I put on the heating pad the pain was very manageable and my bleeding was like a medium-heavy-ish flow the first night. I passed a few clots after about 2 hours, most of which were pebble-sized, then one clot that was a little smaller than a golf-ball sized, which I assumed was the embryo and/or placenta. The pain had pretty much subsided, so after that I went to bed. I woke up the next day with very heavy bleeding that stained my sheets. I had very heavy bleeding that day and the next, then it became heavy-medium, to medium, to light. I bled for about 7 days after the MA with little to no pain. All in all, I'd rate the peak of my pain a 6.5 or 7/10 but it lasted for only 30-45 minutes. I took a pregnancy test about 2.5 weeks after the MA and it was negative so it worked.
I was super scared going into the MA but, thankfully my experience wasn't too bad! Everybody is different though, so my experience may not be the same as yours but I wanted to share mine. You got this! <3

2024.05.29 05:58 Maleficent_Author853 At a potential fork in the road…

Not sure if this is me looking for advice or just needing someone(s) to talk to about this…
Quick history. Played Varsity tennis in high school years ago and was pretty good. I’m 50 years old now and just started playing matches and drill groups again a little over a year ago. I played club volleyball in college and my son (who just graduated high school) is a baseball player and I’ve thrown him a whole lot of batting practice for the last 12 years. So — between tennis, volleyball, and pitching to my kid — lots of mileage on my arm and a lot of overhand motion.
About 6 months ago my shoulder started barking and I took a couple of months off of tennis and focused on PT with a therapist. She said I could start playing again, but ease into it. So I’ve played probably ~12 times since I got the green light — a combination of casual hitting and maybe 4 or 5 matches. The pain is back so I went to an orthopedist and he gave me a cortisone shot in my shoulder and said come back in two weeks and if it still hurts we’ll do an MRI. He doesn’t think the rotator cuff is torn — just a lot of inflammation — but he thinks there could be a tear in my labrum.
So, back in high school I was probably a solid 4.0. I’m a 3.5 now and was hoping to get back to my old 4.0 self (minus all the advantages of a youthful body), but now I’m facing an uncertain future when it comes to the sport…
I think if there’s a tear, I’m guessing that’s the end of my playing, at least for a while. But if there isn’t, I have to figure out if it’s worth it to have to deal with the constant pain in my shoulder if I’m playing regularly. The PT does help some, but I can’t sleep on my right side, it hurts to reach around my back, and it’s achy when I reach above my head. Getting old is hell.
I guess I just need to figure out if it’s worth it to keep playing and doing my best to manage the pain and keep doing PT and hope it gets me to a better place.
Has anyone had to face a situation similar to this at all?

2024.05.29 05:49 Affectionate_Try2114 STOP PLAYING VOLLEYBALL!

I may no longer be at the school, but I have been traumatized by you "volleyball players" who make George Santos's volleyball career at Baruch College look like US Olympic-level stuff. You must be the most uncoordinated and unathletic people to grace the streets of NYC. You are so bad at this sport that you chose to pursue it that you got called out during graduation. For the love of all that is holy, be a human, and be considerate. Please stop playing volleyball in the plaza. You hit people in the face, head, and even sometimes in the balls with no regard for who they are. It does not matter if it is a college student, a professor, an elderly person, or a child—you just will not stop. I am still traumatized because of you nearly hitting me hundreds of times during my time at Baruch. For the love of all that is holy, find a park. You live in NYC; there is a park on every corner. For the last time, FIND A FUCKING PARK SCUM BAGS!

Essays
I think I spent about a month on my essay, but I can't remember. I felt like my essay was pretty good, but I thought it might be controversial depending on the reader so I was a little nervous. I'm not that good of a writer, but I think the content made up for it. I basically talked about my experience growing up mixed race and how I won't let race define me. I thought it might be problematic because I said a black girl was being racist to me by mentioning how a black girl once told me I only got straight A's because I was "white" and that I realized that some people use race as an excuse for their failures. I said that I thought it was sad she was raised to think that way and ended by saying I wouldn't let my race dictate what I should like or how I should behave and that I would decide for myself rather than following others.

Let me just start by saying that I'm extremely grateful for how things have worked out for me. I feel so lucky and fortunate to be in the situation I am. I know I had my GPA and low income going for me, but I got so much more than I ever expected and I still can't believe this is actually happening!! QuestBridge didn't work out, but I still ended up getting what I was looking for: a way to go to college without taking out loans.
So to explain me being able to "go to Virginia Tech for Free," I have multiple sources that are paying for my first year; I didn't just get a full ride from VT (although it basically is when combined with everything else). I got about $15,500 in govt. grants, the scholarship from VT to cover the rest of tuition and room and board which is about $17,000 this year, and $12,000 in outside scholarships. And that's way over the COA, so I don't have to worry about paying anything!! Now I can follow my dreams of being an animator at my dream school without worrying about how to pay for it!!!

My name is Madison, I'm 20 years old, an Aquarius and from Florida, but I recently moved to Washington for college. My goal is to be a veterinarian.
I grew up in a pretty conservative family which is also deeply christian (which I still am), so I've been kinda shielded from the real world and I feel like I struggle to fit in with other people. That being said, I'm definitely more of an extrovert and just love being able to talk about anything! I'm bubbly, lighthearted, giggly and in general a pretty typical ENFP-T.
I would love to find some friendly folks to chat with, just as a way to reflect on the day and just get out some of my massive social energy! Just sharing good vibes, pics of cute animals and more.

2024.05.28 06:57 Rasbobbo 10 of my most memorable overseas travel experiences from the past 34 years

10 of my most memorable overseas travel experiences from the past 34 years
This is in no particular order. It's interesting to me that the things I remember most are not the Colosseum in Rome, or the Louvre, or Westminster Abbey or the Sydney Opera House — it was the experiences and people that were unique to where I was visiting.
https://preview.redd.it/xsfeuemvm33d1.jpg?width=3816&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=30894b55350c418b81b76f2207795e239baf6455
In 1991 (oh to be 25 again), on my second ever overseas trip, I traveled around France on the cheap, going to Normandy, the chateaus of the Loire valley, Brittany and Provence. In St. Malo, near Normandy, I stayed at a hostel. I'd go see sights in the daytime — like the abbey at Le Mont St. Michel and D-Day beaches — and then come back to the hostel to cook dinner in the kitchen with other shoestring travelers. Right next to the kitchen was a volleyball court. Every night we played volleyball until 10 p.m., pounding $2 bottles of wine the whole time. Met some amazing people and had a blast.
The late-night place to be in Paris
Around about 2000, I did a combo Spain/Paris trip. In Paris I was joined by a co-worker. We'd go our separate ways during the day, then meet back for dinner and going out. The problem, though, was that bars seemed to close shockingly early. We got to one at 11:00, and the barkeep was locking the door. But he was American, and he said: "Follow me." He took us to a place near the Sorbonne that looked like a closed restaurant, but that had stairs to the basement. It was a bar with a bustling, young, international crowd. We ended up staying there until 4:30 a.m. It's called the Violon Dingue — Crazy Violin, and as far as I know is still there. My friend drew portraits of girls at the bar to give to them.
A dark cloud over Parliament.
In 2019 I went to London for the first time. On one of my days there, a longtime friend who lives in Dublin flew over just to spend the day with me. It was insane, and a blast. We saw art exhibits of 1,000-year-old British archaeological finds, and some of the earliest books in existence, took pictures of Big Ben and Parliament, took an organized walking/drinking tour of pubs, and otherwise just explored back streets and alleyways near Westminster Abby. Then he caught a train back to the airport to fly home.
Publicans at the Colton Arms.
On that same trip in London, I happened upon a pub in the neighborhood I was staying in out in the city's west side, near Hammersmith. What I expected to be a pint and some food and then maybe a walk back to kill time in my room, turned into food, multiple pints and a whole evening's worth of entertainment as, one by one, the pub's regulars came in for their pints. By 7:30 p.m. people were packed in. And I had been introduced to half of them. This is where I discovered my favorite beer of all time, Timothy Taylor's Landlord pale. I bought rounds. And rounds were purchased in my honor. They were fascinated that I worked on politics news. They didn't hate Trump, really, but kept asking me: How the fuck did such an idiot get elected? (It's called the Colton Arms. Highly recommended.)
Sunset on Ipanema Beach.
In 2013 I visited several cities in Brazil, and when I was in Rio de Janeiro, they were having a heat wave. Thank goodness the city has world famous beaches! I went to a very crowded Ipanema Beach and I think half the city was there. And a ton of people, including me, were out in the water jumping waves and cooling off. They were the kind of waves that surprise you with how much power they have. And every once in a while you'd see a bigger one coming and say "Oh shit!" You'd see the look of excited panic on everybody's faces. Then the wave would pass, everybody would survive, and they'd have the biggest smiles on their faces. Rio was a scary city at times — the poverty there creates some desperate people. But in the water, everybody was smiling after the big waves — white, Black, mixed, old, young, rich, poor. The waves became the leveler. figuratively and literally.
This was good rum, but I liked Santiago de Cuba rums even more.
In early 2017, a friend and I visited Cuba during a very brief window when the U.S. allowed independent travelers to go there. While we were in Havana, some massive tides were flooding streets close to the seawall. I can't remember whose idea it was, but a bottle of fantastic — and cheap — Cuban rum was purchased and a couple of glasses stolen from the AirBnB so that we could join the locals out on one of the main avenues to watch the encroaching flood. I think I would remember more from that night if not for the rum.
Bamberg was a beer lover's dream.
In the fall of 2015 I visited Eastern Europe from Germany and Poland down to Croatia. I stayed a couple of days in a town called Bamberg in Bavaria. Monks have been making beer in that town for centuries. The proprietor of my AirBnB said: "Hey, if you want to join us tonight, a couple of the other guests and I will be sampling some beers and snacks of the region. Just pitch in a few Euros at the end of the night if you want." I learned so much that night about German food and beer. It was a blast.
After surviving the ferry from Italy, and a train ride to Athens, the Acropolis shined.
My very first trip overseas was a three-week trip in January/February of 1990 that started in Amsterdam and ended in Athens, Greece. In addition to those cities, I went to Paris, Venice, Florence, Rome and the Greek island of Santorini. To get from Rome to Greece, I took an overnight ferry out of the Italian port city of Brindisi. I was in deck class, lol, on the ground. But so were a bunch of other travelers my age, also experiencing Europe for the first time. I ended up hanging with a few who just so happened to be sharing a bottle of the Greek liquor called Ouzo. Let's just say that I had enough that I hope I never drink Ouzo again in my life. The deck might have been hard to sleep on, but, I was in no condition to notice.
Our outback tour guide gets the fire going.
In early 2015 I went to Australia for my one and only visit. Besides visiting the big cities of Melbourne and Sydney, I flew to the "Red Center" town of Alice Springs, where I took a three-day long van tour of the outback, including visiting Uluru (previously known as Ayers Rock). On the first night, we camped outdoors, sleeping in what the Aussies called "swags," basically insulated sleeping bags made for sleeping right on the ground. The trick though, was preparing the area around where you would be sleeping. You see (and this just might be something they use to scare the tourists), if you dig a little trench around your bag, it will keep spiders and snakes from crawling in with you because they won't go up and down trenches. Well, true or not, I wasn't gonna NOT do it and just give them a paved highway to my nose! So I dug my trench. I didn't get bit. But a German girl was the hero of our group because she woke up and saw a dingo in our camp and proceeded to throw a rock at it, and hit it, to scare it aware. Huzzah!
Happy scooter riders in Ho Chi Minh City.
In early 2017 I went to Vietnam for the first time, visiting Hanoi first and then Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). I took one of the most highly regarded tours in all of Southeast Asia, a Back of the Bike scooter street food tour, in Saigon. It was a fun crowd on the tour, and the college-age Vietnamese girls driving the scooters were a hoot. But the thing that really made this night memorable was sports related. In the middle of our tour, as we going from one stop to the next, the streets filled with people celebrating something, yelling, singing and waving the Vietnamese flag. It turns out the national soccer team had just had one of its first wins in international competition. They had been waiting to celebrate for a long time. The honking was constant. And there was a sea of waving red flags.

Hi everyone!
I’m a 5’9 M who just graduated from college with their philosophy degree and decided to move to NYC! I’ve always wanted to meet other ace people and decided I should give a post a go.
I guess to start, Im the kind of person who loves to adventure and check our restaurants and music venues. But, I also love quiet vibes like cafes and bookstores to read and do some writing.
My hobbies include exploring art exhibits, museums, playing the guitar, taking walks in Central Park, reading philosophy books, visiting bookstore cafes, working out, playing volleyball (badly). I also have done wedding singing/performed as a side gig and would love to meet more musicians!
In terms of personality: I’m usually pretty extroverted in groups or when I’m comfortable. Butttttt meeting new people is a bit daunting so i might be a bit quiet at first.
Anyway, I’d love to chat and exchange socials!

Hiiii! Im trying to decide which university I’d like to attend this fall. I’ve narrowed it down to UMiami, Boston University, Florida State, and maybe Northeastern but I haven't heard back yet. Which one is the best choice for my major but also for my social life?
I do love going out but id prefer a university that is better for my major than just partying. I also am nervous about attending BU because I heard about grade deflation for the people going into the College of Arts and Sciences.

2024.05.28 04:03 SiberianForestCats My review of Chicago after a month of living here

I moved from Seattle and have lived in the West Loop area for a month and I have no regrets. I can't stop eating at restaurants, I sold my car 3 weeks after moving here, and bought a bicycle the same week. Riding the El and taking public transportation is pretty awesome though I'm sure that novelty will eventually wear off. I also got to meet tamale man the first time I visited Chicago during St. Patricks Day week.
People are generally very friendly and the city is very clean for how populous it is. Thank you to the group of people who helped me with getting my cat stroller through the State/Lake Station ticketing station. Learned the hard way that not all stations are handicap accessible / friendly for those with strollers.
After spending my first few weeks here exploring I ended up choosing the DePaul / Lincoln Park neighborhood as my next home. Looking forward to experiencing more as time goes on and meeting others!

Neighborhoods

Lakeview:
Seattle equivalent: A much larger Wallingford.
Very busy area with a younger 20-30'ish crowd. Lots of dog owners and plenty of restaurants, bars, and businesses to hang out at.
Lincoln Park:
Seattle equivalent: Ravenna
Close to Lakeview which is nice but appears to be a more affluent area. Seems to have a very slightly older crowd (25-30) than Lakeview but that makes sense given the cost of living there. Centrally located between Downtown and Lakeview while still close to the Lake makes it a nice destination for those who don't mind paying a bit more of a premium.
Wrigley Field:
Seattle equivalent: University District
Seems much more affordable while still being reasonably close to the rest of the Chicago neighborhoods. Hence it makes sense that it appears to draw a much younger crowd of college age kids.
Logan Square:
Seattle equivalent: Ballard
A bit hipster-ish but feels like a mini Lakeview with less crowds. Nice area if you like to live in the city but don't like to feel like you're surrounded by the city.
Fulton Market
Seattle equivalent: Fremont
Neat little area with lots of restaurants and bars but not much else outside of the Fulton Market itself. I don't see any particular reason to live there since you can commute to Fulton Market when you want to hang out there. Commuting anywhere (e.g. Lakeview or even Logan Square) is a bit of a ride as everything requires a transfer to another line.
West Loop:
Seattle equivalent: Northgate
Not much to do here other than going to Fulton Market. This area is also where you start to notice signs of gentrification as there is a good mix of new modern apartments mixed with older and abandoned lots. There really isn't a sense of physical danger living here other than petty level type crimes.
The Loop:
Seattle equivalent: Downtown Seattle
Not sure why anyone would personally want to live here unless they cared about distance to work. Nothing to do here after business hours and everyone goes home.

Activities:

Beach Volleyball:
I got to sub for a team in beach volleyball which was a blast. Highly recommend trying to find a league to join. Personally still looking to join a volleyball or kickball league.
Walking: There are so many parks and trails in Chicago that are beautiful to walk through in the summer. You'll find people walking or hanging out in the nice summer weather. The Nature Boardwalk at Lincoln Park Zoo is one of my personal favorites. There also appear to be a lot of running clubs but that's not my kind of thing.
Bicycling:
There are plenty of places that you can rent a bicycle and the 606 is a highly popular trail though I personally haven't been on it myself yet. Since this region is so flat, it makes biking a breeze.
Lincoln Park Zoo:
A free zoo that is very large and plenty of fun to walk through. No pets allowed though.
Riverboat Architecture Tour:
Super fun and awesome to learn about all the buildings along the river. Learn some fun facts that you can impress your friends with when they visit.
Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary: So many cool birds that you can see while you walk through a very peaceful and secluded park that almost makes you forget that you're in the middle of Chicago.
The Art Institute of Chicago:
Cool museum if you're into that kind of stuff. The surrounding area is definitely worth checking out although you cannot see the Bean at this time.
Comedy Clubs:
Visited the Laugh Factory and got to see a skit. Seems fun and there are lots of amateur classes where you can meet others.

Restaurants (Link to Google Maps):

My favorites are in bold
Edit: People have fairly called out that I haven't been to any places in South Chicago yet so I've created a new list of places to eat that include some places there. Thank you for the suggestions!

2024.05.27 20:27 koniks0001 Innocent Question - Please Educate me with FACTS, wag chismis

Ang AVC ba ay ang FIBA equivalent ng volleyball? I love the ALAS team. Magagaling talaga. Sila na ata ang Best line up na nabuo na program. Pero nung nag watch ako ng highlights, parang hindi A team ng mga sumali ung pinadala nila. Like Australia and Taipei. Solid mga program ng mga un. Parang mga college student ung naglalaro. Baka pag natapat tayo kahit Thailand lang, Mahirapan ung ALAS team.

2024.05.27 18:51 CDN_maple Ottawa and Area summer camps 2024 Part three

HI All

Just sharing a list of Ottawa and area summer camps for 2024.

I tried to compile all the responses to the last two posts you can quickly scroll. I tried to leave all the original comments in place.

I want to thank everyone who posted in the original post. If you have any other suggestions or recommendations leave a comment. If you are using any of them feel free to list why in the comments as well!

Camp Opemikon: https://www.scouts.ca/camps/camp-opemikon.html

Overnight summer camp with Back Country trips for some programs. Great Value for dollar (50% of comparable programs). Open to all.

Saunders Farm camp:https://saundersfarm.com/summer-day-camp/

Day Camp. Fun activities in a fun setting. Lunch provided but still need to pack snacks. Special sales through out the year if you can time it.

City of Ottawa: https://ottawa.ca/en/recreation-and-parks/courses-and-camps

Great Programs through out the city with a wide range of programing.

Have any others you would recommend, please share!

Special Mention:

Christie Lake Kids https://www.christielakekids.com/

I believe you have to be sponsored to go, but the program is free for those who qualify .

Camp Smitty https://www.bgcottawa.org/campsmitty/

This is a great 10 days and overnight camp. It includes canoeing, swimming, and many other fun summer games like capture the flag! I highly recommend looking into it :).

Dovercourt: lots of program offerings, but it is HUGE. You can also add on swimming lessons. They have an inclusion program for kids with disabilities/neurodiversities, but your mileage may vary depending on the child.

YMCA: neighbourhood camps are a good, basic daycamp, although the locations change year to year. Camp Otonabee is their outdoor camp in Dunrobin with bus stops all around the city. They also offer an overnight option for older children, as well as outripping and horseback riding camps. Excellent value and experience.

Carleton U: Science/Engineering Camps, as well as sports camps. My kids haven't attended here but I have heard great things.

Camp Awesome: affordable daycamp run by the United Church. Don't worry, no one is going to try to convert your child or make them memorize bible verses. Locations will vary across the city. Affordable. My son enjoyed it last summer because it was pretty low-key.

Camp Lau-Ren: sleepaway camp run by the United Church located in Deep River. They offer a three-day camp for kids age 6-8, and a six day camp for kids eight and up. The camp itself is small (about 65 campers per session, fewer kids in Tadpole Camp), which can make it a great introduction to sleepaway camp. In addition to your standard teen/college age counselors you also have many adult volunteers on site. Affordable, and they do offer bursaries for campers in financial need.

The Ottawa Forest and Nature School offers a daycamp, although priority goes to current families before opening to a public lottery.

Many private schools in Ottawa offer daycamps, although I imagine these get pricey.

The Ottawa Humane Society offers summer kids camps (but registration doesn't open until March 5)

Super 7 Kids Summer Camp is pretty good. It's a 5-day long day camp with locations in Barrhaven and Kanata, with arts and crafts, martial arts, and a lot of different games for the kids. I used to work there and they'd typically have a fun Friday event (often water gun fights or nerf wars, but it also depended on the group of kids they had that week).

Out to Play Farm and Forest School in the west end have summer day camps--our three kids came home with more stories and adventures than I thought kids these days could experience.

https://outtoplay.ca/summer-camps/

Lac Deschenes Sail Club Day camp, out at Shirley's bay in the west greenbelt, beautiful site - this year's dates are not yet posted, they typically have the first 2 weeks of July as beginner camps. https://www.ldsc.ca/index.php/en/sailing-lessons-and-programs/youth-sailing-camp

Nepean Sail Club, kids day camps most of the summer https://nsc.ca/an/sailtraining/summer-camp-2024/

Kanata Sailing Club http://kanatasailingclub.com/training/junior-sailing/

Gracefield Camp is a sleepaway Presbyterian Church camp. They offer a bus ride from and to a location in town. There is prayer with some meals and a optional morning contemplation time, but many kids from non-religious backgrounds go with friends. https://gracefieldcamp.ca/

Carleton U Tech camps are called Virtual Ventures, get in quick, registration opens Feb 1 https://carleton.ca/vv/summercamps/

U Ottawa (Adventures in Engineering and Scince) and the museums (e.g. Ingenium- Tech, Aviation) also run camps that can fill up quickly.

Soloway JCC typically has a variety of day camps, and I know some families that found them to be a bit more neuro-diversity friendly at the time. https://www.jccottawa.com/sjcc-summer-camps/

Minecraft and Pokemon themed programming camps at a few locations in the city: https://www.futurekids.ca/

Star Gymnastics also has a few locations and a pretty solid program for energetic kids.

Rideau Hill Camp- run by the United Church Way cheaper than other sleep away camps. No religious conversions but the occasional prayer before meals.
https://rideauhillcamp.com

Rideau Canoe Club - paddling in the heart of the city https://www.rideaucanoeclub.ca

Britannia Yacht Club- Sailing and Tennis https://byc.ca/

Camp Lau-Ren - run by the united Church of Canada, a overnight camp stay in wooden cabins off the Ottawa River. I used to go here as a kid and it was a blast. https://camplau-ren.com/

Au gré du vent : francophone camps all over the east end. Specialized and unique camps, amazing counselors and good prices.

https://augreduvent.ca/services-jeunesse/camps-de-jou

OTLBC Summer Camps are Amazing! They are more focused on sports, such as Beach Volleyball and Tennis, however it seems they are now offering an Arts camp too.

Open to Members and non-members.

They offer Chef made lunches (extra cost), and pre/post cost (extra cost for non-members)

They take subsidiaries, such as Boy and Girls club as well as Jumpstart.

https://www.otlbc.com/otlbc/home/readPage.do?id=185

for those who dont know, it is located next to brewer park.

In case anyone is looking for more options, this was shared on Facebook:

2024.05.27 08:00 beachvolleyeurope "Unlock Your Full Potential: The Hidden Powers of Hip Flexor Stretching for Beach Volleyball Enthusiasts!"

Hey there, fellow BeachVolley lovers!
You feel the sun on your skin, beach sand under your feet, and there's nothing else but the game in front of you - priceless, isn't it? Embracing this sport involves more than mastering spikes, dives, or blocks. It's about keeping your body well prepared for optimal performance and reduced injury risk.
Today, let's zoom in on the importance and practical methods of pre-game static stretching, specifically focusing on hip flexors – a critical muscle group often overlooked in beach volleyball athletes.
As per the American College of Sports Medicine, stretching activities may lead to the increased range of motion, reduced muscle soreness post-exercise, and enhanced athletic performance1^. Now, why do we zero in on the hip flexors?
Here are few beginner-friendly, on-the-spot hip flexor stretches you can add to your training routine IMMEDIATELY, no special equipment needed:
  1. Kneeling Hip Flexor Stretch: Start in a lunge with your right foot forward. Lower your left knee to the ground. Keeping your back straight, gently push your hips forward until you feel a stretch in the front of your left hip. Hold this position for about 30 seconds, then switch sides.
  2. Pigeon Pose: Start in a push-up position. Bring your right knee forward and place it behind your right wrist. Angle your right foot up towards your left wrist. Extend your left leg out behind you. Rest your hands on the floor or on your right leg. Hold for 30 seconds, then switch sides.
  3. Butterfly Stretch: Sit on the ground with your knees bent. Place the soles of your feet together. Gently push your knees down towards the ground using your elbows. Lean forward slightly and feel the stretch in your inner thighs and hips. Hold for 30 seconds.
Consistency is the key, so stretch regularly, and remember, patience is a virtue. But most importantly, listen to your body, friends. If you feel discomfort past the usual "stretching sensation", ease out.
Stay limber, folks! And let me know how these exercises work for you.
