Vehicle aux outlet to power sump pump via inverter?

2024.05.21 23:03 A_Cryptic_Metaphor Vehicle aux outlet to power sump pump via inverter?

This is less a home electrical question and more a vehicle electrical question, so I'm sorry if it doesn't quite apply to this sub, but I will ask anyway.
I know you can hook up power inverters to the aux power outlet in a vehicle (AKA the cigarette lighter) which can provide a certain amount of AC power to small electronics and whatnot.
Would it be possible to use one to power a sump pump via extension cord?
I see power inverters for sale that advertise a RANGE of wattages up to, say, 3000W. (here's one example: https://www.walmart.com/ip/JLLOM-3000W-4000W-Car-Power-Inverter-DC-12V-To-AC-110V-Pure-Sine-Wave-Solar-Converter-LCD/1010148549?athbdg=L1400 I know that's peak power, and continuous is more modest)
My Colorado's front aux Power outlet is on a 50 amp fuse, so a generous battery voltage of 12.6 would mean my maximum wattage is 630.
My Wayne sump pump is a 4 amp pump, running on household 120v (the sticker lists it at 115, but I'll use 120 for the calculation) so that comes out to 480 watts.
So...would an inverter running off the vehicle's aux power outlet be able to supply enough power to the sump pump in case of power failure? Is the inverter actaully going to provide the wattage advertised?
This isn't "the plan" but I'm just curious as we've been getting constant severe weather and storms and I worry the power might go out for a while, which has happened on occasion. And yes, I know generators are a thing too, I'm just inquiring about this possible angle. Athlough, another power failure and I might just buy one anyway.

2024.05.21 20:48 SoulofXyz I want to stop smoking, but timing is the worst of all

19M. I started smoking 2 months ago. I will enter the college entrance exam 2 weeks later and the Japanese language profiency test 1 and half months later. I tried to stop smoking and threw packs and lighters away too much, but just 3 days later, because of cravings, I couldn't studied After that always I went outside and bought a lighter and a pack But today, after the 4th day of not smoking cigarettes, I started again and felt like started for the first time if I didn't smoked today maybe I could able to quit, I don't know. The exam day is 8th and 9th of June after 7th, no doubt I won't smoke again(I hope). After the college entrance exam, I will shut in at home and study japanese. That is my plan. I know tomorrow I won't want a cigarette, and I will throw the pack away, but later that day, I will buy a pack again. What is the best time I don't know? Is throwing pack and lighter rn or waiting for the 7th of June to quit? I have ADHD probably, I went to the doctor and he said "looks like adhd" but he didn't dwell on it for long. When I use concerta, I don't feel I need to smoke much, but I'm saving it for the last days of studying. (Sorry, my English isn't good)

2024.05.21 15:50 Primary_Echidna_1149 USB Powered GPS

Is there a Garmin or TomTom GPS that is USB powered? I have a Garmin in my car that has the cigarette lighter plug. My RX1e only has a USB port and I'd like to plug in a GPS in there. I can't use my phone as GPS because I have a dumb flip phone.

2024.05.21 15:24 the_highapple Hi I want to install LEDs in my car, but I'd prefer not to use the cigarette lighter plug. Instead, I'd like to conceal the connection under the trim. Can I use the wires beneath the cigarette lighter socket and connect the LED wires to those, or do I need to draw power from the fuse box?

2024.05.21 15:22 Orchid_Dull Am i having a spiritual awakening?

16F here, i got into spiritual stuff a while ago. A week ago, i suffered a pretty big breakdown and made some irrational decisions and messed up big time. I was raised a christian, not overly religious, but my parents were believers but not the obsessive ones, although i never really believed wholeheartedly in the existence of God. So a few days ago, i go to bed and im like "If there is a God or some higher power, help me out of this misery." Next morning, i wake up and as usual i light up a cigarette, but as soon as i take a puff, i feel nauseous and a few puffs later, i am in the bathroom throwing up which is highly unusual because im a heavy smoker and can smoke a pack a day. But as the days went on, the world started to seem lighter. I slowly stopped being angry over wasted opportunities and grudges and the past and started being grateful and appreciating the little things i had, like being in a good health, having a roof over my head and food on the table and started forgiving myself over little mistakes and past actions. I started seeing through people and instead of being mad at what they do or if they are acting shitty, i started accepting them as they are and letting it go. Its honestly crazy. Idk if its a spiritual awakening, but it feels great! I am studying more, feeling more confident, my body dysmorphia mellowed out and im getting into gym again.
Let me know what you think!

2024.05.21 13:55 Dasyat1s Lighter not working properly

Lighter not working properly
Hi, I got this lighter from my dead grandfather. It used to come from a cigarette/cigars box where is was designed to be one of the corners of the box to light up said cigarettes/cigars. It's a butane lighter which lights with an electric spark that doesn't seem to need to be powered (it has been running the same way for years).
I got a few issues with it : - the flame is shooting way too high to it's ingested purpose (imo) and that doesn't change even by turning the setting screw - the electric spark doesn't light it on the first try, I often have to try multiple times.
If anyone could help me fix that I'd greatly appreciate (btw English isn't my native language). And if anyone could help me identify it, it would be even better

2024.05.21 10:13 EducationalQuiet2140 The Tunnels-Part 1

Its taken me nearly 20 years to make sense of something I happened upon for the first time as a teenager.
There are said to be old service tunnels that run from the naval-shipyard to various locations under my hometown, believed to have been originally built around WWI. But In the early 1940s, the main tunnel was opened as a fallout shelter capable of holding 10,000 people . The rest of the tunnels were supposedly closed off when new construction around town occurred in the 1970s. My grandpa worked construction on what at the time was to be the tallest building in town, adorned with a clock at the peak. He like to brag about having "put a hand on nearly every rock in that build'n" or saying "I remember when that was a pile of rubble until we worked on it". He also liked to say "There are still many old places that hold many old secrets for those brave enough to seek them" but I assumed that he meant the bottom of a bottle.
The main streets are a reminder of the infrastructure built in the 1930s and 40s. Many of the businesses on the street were the ground level of a larger office or warehouse buildings. Some were single story buildings, shoehorned in between the larger ones. There is also a Masonic Lodge history with the town. They built the original temple way back then, and then a couple decades later, built another building and moved there. Their presence is clearly noticeable in the architecture all over the town. There are even plenty of houses in town that were built in the same fashion.
It's amazing how small town gossip can be passed down from generation to generation. I first heard about the tunnels as a young boy from a classmate in the second grade. She said that her dad worked on the base(it’s a naval shipyard) and was an important man because they had an escape tunnel under her house. I think I believed her at the time but I never really saw her after around that point. Even at that age I associated her as a Navy brat. I just assumed they moved.
I never really gave it much thought though until I was about 16, in the year 2005. I was a punk teen. I smoked weed and cigarettes as often as I could. I skipped a lot of school, choosing to go get fucked up and skateboard on private property somewhere. I spent a lot of time all over the town and in the most secluded locations. As a skater I'm telling you there were/are some sick spots! A majority of the buildings are that original brick masonry. Stair cases, gaps, banks, ledges, rails. The biggest problem is that skateboarding was a form of vandalism to public property. It was that year after enough people kept getting into trouble that the skaters of our community petitioned city-hall to have a skatepark built. They listened and even let us help design it. It definitely mimics some of the most popular aspects from downtown.
I stumbled upon the first of the tunnel entrances down an alleyway in downtown. The kicker is that, of course it was past midnight and of course I had been drinking and smoking pot. But that's also why I was in the alleys. Anyone hanging out there wasn't looking for any attention. Yes looking back I regret doing all the stupid things I did. I knew the area like the back of my hand but for some reason I was never able to find an entrance while sober. The alley way is particularly remarkable and I had been down it numerous times before. It’s the only one that has a man bridge over the alley connecting two separate buildings. It’s like a hallway fully enclosed with windows, matching the appearance of the buildings. I had just passed under it and to the next building where a smaller dumpster sat. The dumpster had one side pulled away from the building it was butted up against. It was dark but I could see a gaping dark hole behind and underneath the dumpster. I pulled my lighter out to reveal a staircase leading under the building. It was hard to see but I could tell from the edges of the opening that there was supposed to be a metal or wooden cover.
Intrigued I pulled out my old Nokia cellphone. The screen albeit small and dim, it did glow and in the dark-dark was better than nothing. I didn't want to burn myself and wanted to conserve my lighter for other things. I don't know why exactly I felt I needed to but I dropped down behind the dumpster to the stairwell and held my phone up high like a lantern. The stairs went down maybe 15 steps to a flat that went through a doorway on the left. Curiosity out weighed rationality in those days and I made my way down to the flat as quietly as I could. As the last bit of ambient light and noise from the dark quiet alley disappeared, the calm stagnant air in the concrete passage way that acted like an echo chamber was a stark shift in environment.
There was a hallway beyond the doorway that was extremely narrow and not very long. It was only wide enough for one person. It was probably 15 feet in length or so. As I slowly proceeded, the hallway dumped out into a much larger tunnel. I remember thinking "a bus could fit through here!" and it stretched far beyond the dim lights reach of my Nokia. I debated on whether I should just head back and decided now was an appropriate time to spark up a smoke, which didn't mix well with the stale air. Replacing my light source with the flame from my lighter provided enough light to see a panel of switches on the wall next to the smaller tunnel. I flipped one and the main tunnel lit up surprisingly, popping a humming to life. It was at least a football field in length. There were a few other similar little tunnels in various locations along this larger one.
As I was taking in just how long it was I peered from one end to the other and down at the farthest end was what looked like a person. The realization snapped me out of my wonderment. I was now uneasy at the thought that someone was down here just hanging out in the darkness. The more I focused on the figure the more it appeared that it was just standing down there staring at me. I looked the other direction but didn't notice anyone or anything. Taking a drag as I looked back towards the figure who I was now significantly closer to, I stopped in mid step. I hadn't been aware of it but I had been walking towards the figure. That's when everything in my body told me to leave now. And in that very moment the figure began running at me full sprint. There was no time to make sense of how or why I was walking towards the figure or why I was even down here in the first place as I turned running as fast as I could.
When I got to the smaller tunnel I took the opportunity to glance back over my shoulder while rounding the corner. To my absolute terror the figure was right where I was when I started running. I could hear the foot steps echoing off every surface followed with the creepiest snarling. I hit the stairs skipping three or four steps at a time. The light from the night city sky poured over the remaining steps and I nearly forgot the drop I had made getting down there. As I reached for the side of the stair well to pull my self up I could here that thing hit the stairs. With every ounce of adrenaline I heaved myself up and rolled out into the alley. Frantically I picked myself up and rammed into the dumpster closing the gap and began to head to the main street. That night I sprinted the nearly 1.5 miles back home without stopping or looking back.
I wish I could say that I forgot about that night and the tunnels to save myself some sanity in life. If I had only known this was the beginning of something much older and darker than I could have imagined. It took me a few weeks to shake the initial shock of that encounter. Eventually I went back during the day but couldn't even find the dumpster. I put it out of my mind until about six months later when an opportunity came up to visit with my grandpa...

I recently tried the Rose Cottage 12Packs Floral Hanging Potpourri Bags in my home and was pleasantly surprised by the unique blend of scents. What stood out to me was how these natural air fresheners truly lived up to their promise of lasting for months. The large size sachets were perfect for tackling the smell in my closet, and even better, they worked well as a shoe odor eliminator too!
One of the things I appreciated about these fragrances was that they were made with essential oils created by French professional perfumers. The combination of these scents, along with the Japanese paper packaging, truly made for an incredible and long-lasting fragrance experience.
I also found that the large size sachets were more suitable for bigger spaces, as their fragrance did tend to dissipate a bit faster in smaller areas. Nevertheless, if you place multiple sachets strategically around your space, you'll still enjoy the pleasant scent.
Overall, the Rose Cottage air fresheners were a welcomed addition to my home, providing a natural and long-lasting solution to freshen up the air. Not to mention, the beautiful designs made them great as gifts for friends and family!

In my daily life, I've come to rely on these SKPPC closet air fresheners as a simple yet effective solution for maintaining a pleasant scent throughout my home. These flower-scented sachets, available in a pack of 15, are perfect for freshening up drawers, closets, and even suitcases. The long-lasting fragrance can last for up to two months, making them a convenient and cost-effective choice.
One of the features that stood out to me is their versatility. You can place these air fresheners in various spaces to fill your life with sweet aromas, keeping you in a good mood all day long. Whether it's in drawers, closets, suitcases, or handbags, these sachets have got you covered.
However, there's a catch: these sachets need to be stored in a closed space, away from direct sunlight, to preserve the aroma. It took me a while to figure out the best way to store them, but once I did, the scent lasted much longer. Additionally, it's essential to open the package when you first use the sachets, as leaving them unopened can cause the aroma to fade over time.
Although some users have reported issues with the scent strength, I've found that these closet air fresheners are a great gift idea. Their sweet aroma can brighten someone's day and make a lovely present for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, or even mother's day. To get the most out of these sachets, gently shake them to encourage diffusion and enjoy the long-lasting, delightful fragrance they provide.

Recently, I started using Arm & Hammer Odor Busterz Deodorizer for my household and found them to be quite versatile. The natural strength of baking soda in these deodorizers makes it effective in various small spaces.
What stood out to me is the unique perforation in the deodorizer balls, which allows for maximum odor elimination right at the spot. The sachet filled with baking soda and Arm & Hammer's clean burst scent works wonderfully to eliminate odors for up to 60 days and keeps the freshness intact.
One noticeable downside, though, is that the fragrance may be too strong for certain rooms, like kitchens or bathrooms. The scent might even make your dishes or medicine smell and taste odd.
Overall, I've found these deodorizers to be quite efficient in eliminating odors in small areas. It's just essential to be cautious about using them in highly fragrance-sensitive spaces or if you prefer a lighter scent.

Behold the AirBoss Closet Airfreshener in Lavender Fields - my daily savior in the battle against musty closets. The hook design is convenient, allowing me to hang it effortlessly in my wardrobe. The gel formula is water-based, making it environmentally friendly and easy to use. However, be prepared for a bit of evaporation, as the gel dries up within thirty days.
The scent itself is a lovely, calming lavender, perfect for creating a cozy atmosphere. The airfreshener works continuously, and I appreciate the absence of any harsh chemicals. But be mindful, once the gel has evaporated, you'll need to replace the product to maintain its effectiveness. Overall, it's a reliable and eco-friendly option for keeping your closet fresh and fragrant.

I've been using the Owevvin scented sachets for a while now, and let me tell you, they're a game-changer! I recently received this pack of sachets as a gift, and I must say, I'm quite impressed.
One of the things that stood out to me is the simplicity of their design. The sachets are lightweight and easy to use, making them perfect for filling up drawers and closets with a delightful scent. They also come in a variety of scents, so you can choose the one that suits your taste buds the best.
Now, let's talk about the packaging. Owevvin sachets come in a resealable bag, making it easy to store and reuse. The hook design on each sachet is a nice touch too, as it makes it convenient to hang them in multiple spaces.
Of course, no product is perfect, and the Owevvin scented sachets are no exception. The scent can sometimes be a little overpowering, so I suggest using them in moderation to prevent your space from smelling too strongly.
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with my experience using these scented sachets. They're perfect for a quick pick-me-up or as a thoughtful gift for friends during special occasions. With their long-lasting effect and easy-to-use design, I highly recommend giving Owevvin scented sachets a try!

I recently tried out Professor Killamoth's Cedar Chips and Lavender Sachets, and I have to say, they were a game-changer for my wardrobe. The pack of 20 sachets was perfect, as it allowed me to easily place them in various parts of my closet without feeling overwhelmed.
I was particularly impressed by the long-lasting fragrance these sachets emanated. The combination of premium cedar and lavender truly created a delightful aroma that filled my closet. It was like walking into a little oasis of freshness every time I opened the door.
However, I did notice that the sachets had a tendency to detach from their hangers when I opened the closet. A small piece of double-sided tape would have been a helpful addition to the package to secure them better.
Overall, I'm a big fan of these Cedar Chips and Lavender Sachets. They've not only helped to keep my clothes smelling fresh but also added a touch of luxury to my wardrobe. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to revitalize their closet and enjoy a pleasant fragrance with every wear.

I've been using MYARO's Gardenia Scented Sachets for quite some time now, and I must say, they've definitely made a difference in my daily life. These sachets are infused with natural fragrance and are perfect for freshening up various spaces around the house. They're great for drawers, closets, and even gym bags - any place where you want a pleasant scent to linger.
One thing that stood out to me was the packaging. Each sachet comes individually sealed in a poly-bag, ensuring that the fragrance remains fresh for as long as possible. This attention to detail is something that I truly appreciate.
However, there were a few cons as well. Some users mentioned that the scents didn't last as long as they hoped, and that they had to use multiple sachets to get the desired effect. Additionally, a couple of reviewers experienced issues with the delivery and customer service.
Despite these minor setbacks, I've found MYARO's scented sachets to be a reliable and pleasant addition to my household. They've definitely made my drawers and closets smell fresher, and for that, I'm grateful.

I recently fell in love with the Good Home Co Closet and Drawer Sachets in lavender scent. These biodegradable sachets are not only gentle on the environment but also on our skin. They're free from parabens, phosphates, sulfates, and phthalates, and being 100% vegan and cruelty-free adds to their appeal.
However, their durability leaves a bit to be desired. They don't last very long, be it in my closet or drawer. It's almost like using the lavender sachets as dryer sheets - now that's an idea!
Despite this slight drawback, I still enjoy using these lovely fragranced beads tucked away in soft, beautiful fabric sachets. They add a sense of tranquility and freshness to any space they're placed in.

I couldn't resist trying these Joanssore rosemary sachets when I caught wind of their rave reviews. The smell of fresh, dried rosemary filled my closet, transforming it from a dusty corner to a welcoming haven. The vibrant color of the sachets is a plus, adding a touch of elegance to my drawers and closets.
Something I noticed, though, is that the strong scent of rosemary might be overpowering for some, making me feel slightly lightheaded. However, the company assures customers that they follow the best practices in their sachets, so I'll keep an eye on the potency and adjust accordingly.
While I can't say I've used these as a gift yet, they've certainly become a favorite of mine for personal home use. Every time I open my closet, the smell of rosemary takes me to a place of calm and relaxation. Overall, it's a small luxury that has made a big difference in my daily life.

I've been using MYARO Scented Sachets in my home for a few weeks now, and let me tell you, they've been a game-changer. The set includes 4 lavender, 4 ocean, and 4 cedar wood sachets, all packed in a convenient 12-pack. I love how they're made with natural, organic quality vermiculite and high-quality fragrance oils - I can truly appreciate the thought that went into creating these lovely scents.
One thing I really appreciate is the fact that the sachets are infused with a long-lasting scent. I had one in my car for over a week now, and the fragrance still lingers. It's such a hassle-free way to keep my room smelling fresh and welcoming. Plus, they've helped me a lot in eliminating any unpleasant odors around my home.
Of course, not everything is perfect. While these sachets are incredibly versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes (as they've cleverly pointed out), I found myself struggling a bit with putting them in small, confined spaces. However, despite that tiny inconvenience, I'd say these MYARO Scented Sachets have definitely made a difference in my home life. 🔗Fragrance-Free Odor Eliminator Gel for Closets Lasts up to 4 months

https://preview.redd.it/1ub7iyvjlp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8d9720de5f2ba416ef93af82d165a7228857569
In my quest for a fragrance-free deodorizer that could tackle my musty closet, I stumbled upon the airBOSS Closet Odor Neutralizing Gel. It's no secret that our closets hold some of our most beloved belongings, but they often harbor some less-than-lovely smells as well. This product promised to tackle the odor from mold, mildew, tobacco, perspiration, and even shoes, and with a time frame of up to 4 months, I was intrigued to say the least.
Upon opening the container, I was immediately greeted by the neutral scent, which was a pleasant surprise. It's a welcome change from the overwhelming fragrances that some deodorizers come with. The gel was thick, but applied easily to the corners of my closet. I was eager to see if it could live up to the hype.
The airBOSS Closet Odor Neutralizing Gel worked wonders on my closet. It absorbed the musty odor that had been lingering for months, leaving behind a fresh scent. However, it was a bit of a bulky package, as I received it in a plastic jar instead of the style shown in the picture. This added a bit of extra space-taking in my closet, but it was a minor inconvenience.
Overall, the airBOSS Closet Odor Neutralizing Gel did its job and neutralized the odor in my closet. The fragrance-free aspect was a plus and the gel lasted for months, making it a worthwhile investment. But the extra bulk in packaging was a bit of a downer. Nevertheless, it's a product that gets the job done and keeps my closet smelling fresh.

🔗Scented Air Fresheners for Small Spaces

https://preview.redd.it/nxkpkzoklp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b2b01d2822107638dced742521517e6ba3e038a
I recently tried out the Renuzit Pure Breeze Pet Air Fresheners, and I must say, they really did a great job in keeping my home smelling fresh and clean. These cones are perfect for small spaces like bathrooms and closets, and they released a pleasant scent that was just the right balance between fresh and subtle.
One thing that really stood out to me was their adjustable fragrance levels. I could easily control the intensity of the scent, which was perfect for my preference. Additionally, these cones are easy to use - just turn them upside down when they run out of fragrance, and it's effortless to see when they need to be replaced.
However, I've noticed that their scent tends to weaken over time. It used to last up to three weeks, but now it doesn't even last three days. I would've appreciated if it lasted longer, as it would mean fewer replacements and more savings.
Still, I recommend the Renuzit Pure Breeze Pet Air Fresheners to anyone looking for a simple yet effective way to keep their home smelling fresh. They're affordable and easy to use, plus they help control odors without overpowering the room with an overwhelming scent.

A well-maintained closet not only offers a better space for organizing clothes and accessories but also makes a positive impact on the overall indoor air quality. A quality air freshener in your closet works to neutralize bad odors and contribute to a healthier living environment. However, with a broad array of options available in the market, selecting the most suitable closet air freshener can be a bit daunting. These materials are eco-friendly and safe for use in closed spaces, ensuring that the air in your closet stays fresh and pleasant.

Room Size and Duration of Refresh

Closet air fresheners work best when their coverage matches the size of the room where they are placed. Therefore, it's essential to consider the volume of your closet space and ensure that the chosen air freshener can effectively cover the area. Also, pay attention to the package information and find out how long the air freshener releases a pleasant scent. Also, consider whether you prefer a refillable or disposable air freshener, depending on your preference and convenience.

Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Choices

Staying eco-conscious is an important aspect for many buyers during the purchasing process. When choosing a closet air freshener, look for products that are planet-friendly and contain biodegradable ingredients. Additionally, opt for a recyclable or reusable container so that your purchase not only freshens up your closet but also contributes to a cleaner and healthier planet.

2024.05.21 01:18 Unlikely-Country-822 My (34F) husband (41M) lied about paying mortgage for almost a year.

TL;DR! I just found out a few days ago that my husband hasn't paid our mortgage in 11 months.
My husband (41m) and I (34f) have our finances pretty separate. We each have our own accounts and the only thing in both of our names is our house and his car. He makes about 2x what I make and we split expenses up in a way we both felt was fair and manageable for each of us while both working on our own personal credit card debt we brought into the relationship. One of the things he covers is the mortgage in full. He works in accounting and I work in education, I have never been great at managing my money so he does my monthly budget for me and has access to all of my accounts and knows what my debts are. There has always been a veil of secrecy around his situation but he has always assured me everything was fine on his end, money was always tight but he was always almost caught up. When I would ask specific questions he would get kind of defensive and I felt it wasn't worth digging for more info and took his word on things.
Taking his word on things was pretty naive of me considering our biggest issues in the past had revolved around him lying. When we first started dating he told me he was taking classes towards his masters degree. I found out that he was actually in a Bachelor's program when he had told me he had already had his bachelor's degree. When I confronted him he apologized, told me he was embarrassed and felt ashamed that I was more educated than he was at the time. I let it slide because he seemed genuinely apologetic and I felt bad he was embarrassed.
More recently about a year after our son was born I had mentioned that he smelled like cigarette smoke a few times and he said "that's weird." A few months later I found a lighter and spray under the seat in one of our cars. He told me the lighter was in case the locks froze in winter but didn't know what the spray was. A couple months after that I found a pack of cigarettes in his jacket pocket while I was looking for his keys and he confessed to smoking the whole time. Then again, about a year ago I was clued in that he might be having trouble when I had a notice for a late payment on my credit report. I checked immediately and saw he didn't make his car payment. When I asked him he got defensive and stated that he has the account auto pay and he doesn't know why they wouldn't have taken it out. I asked him to please call them to have it straightened out as I didn't want the hit to my credit and he was frustrated and said he would but nothing came of it and I let it go because the conversations were so unpleasant. I asked him to please tell me if he was struggling with the bills and his money situation and he said it was all fine.
Flash forward to a few days ago I got a notice that we were behind on daycare payments. I asked him what was going on why they were only getting partial payment I could tell he was lying. He was immediately defensive, said he put in a form months ago for them to do automatic withdrawal from his account but they never did so while he was waiting he would bring them "however much the ATM would let me take out at a time" in cash. I couldn't let this go as I felt in my bones he was lying and I asked him if things were ok and did he need help, was the mortgage current? He said yeah it should be. Then I asked again and begged him to tell me the l truth and I found out he hadn't paid the mortgage in 11 months.
He says he is sorry, he feels bad. He didn't know what to do. About a year ago his health insurance costs increased dramatically and he could no longer afford the mortgage. Instead of asking me to take on the insurance through my job or talking to me at all he decided to just not pay it. I was pregnant at the time so he didn't want to drop the insurance. He didn't tell me any of this because he didn't want to stress me out. He tells me about a week ago he applied for some kind of relief program, so waiting to hear back on that. If that isn't approved we go into foreclosure.
I keep talking about it I feel betrayed and angry, he just says he's sorry he doesn't know what else to say. He maintains he did it to protect me but it certainly doesn't feel like it. Then he tells me he was just scared to tell me. I asked for full transparency and to see all of his accounts and he was first angry and said "so now I'm being babysat? That sucks" but later he reluctantly let me see his bank accounts. As far as I can tell no gambling or drug addiction or anything crazy just living beyond our means and an alarming amount of door dash charges.
I always knew he would lie about things that weren't super important but thought he was overall a responsible, reasonable person and I never in a million years would have imagined he would do something like this to our family. Is this something we could come back from? How big a deal is lying like this? I know we need counseling for the abysmal communication in the relationship, but the lying at this scale makes it hard to believe I'll be able to fully trust him again. Also, possibly homelessness I'm sure will place another strain on the relationship.

2024.05.20 23:55 MPZ1968 I Made A Deal With An Old Man In A Food Court Bathroom (Part 23)

“Hi, Guys”, Edgar said, in that same nasal tone, waving at us palm open once again.
The tape holding his cheap sunglasses together was orange.
Did you catch that reference. If so, good for you.
Anyway, I assume he wore sunglasses not only trying to make himself look cool, but also to hide the fact that his eyes blinked sideways, remember?
He wore a blue pilot’s uniform, complete with the hat,
“Dude! Are you fucking kidding me?”, Derek said.
“I don’t think so, Dude!”, Corey responded.
“I’m not too sure about this, Bob!”, I said.
“Don’t worry, Boys! He’s been playing a flight simulator game on what he calls his TRS-80 computer, for quite some time now. He’ll be fine.”, Bob replied.
“A Flight Simulator Game?”, we all said shockingly in unison, including Tony.
“Doesn’t he need a Pilot’s license or something?” I asked.
“Boys, Boys, I assure you, that if any complications arise, I will handle the situation! I AM the devil! I can do that! Besides, finding a licensed pilot, and negotiating a deal, would take far too much time! Time… we do not have! So, Edgar is our only option.” Bob said.
We all half heartedly waved back, nervously smiling, “Hi, Edgar!”, we all said in unison once again. Tony just said “Hi!”
Derek, Corey, Ricky, Stephen and I were all taken back by the fact that the “person” that tried to kill us, was apparently the pilot of our new plane, with absolutely no formal training, just a video game, and not even a good one, compared to todays standards.
I knew my bandmates were already dead, but I was pretty sure they didn’t want to die again, now or any other time before, even if they’d all come back to life.
“Come on up, Guys! We’ll be taking off soon!”, Edgar said.
“Boys, up we go!”, Bob said, moving his arm in a presenting fashion toward the stairs.
“Once we enter, put the stairs in their proper place and take the bus back to the house!” Bob said to the old man.
“Yes, Boss!”, he said.
“Wait! My accordion!”, Tony said, as he stepped back onto the bus to get it.
“That was close! I almost forgot it again!, he said.
“Cool, Man! That way you can jam with us!”, I commented
“I’d like that”, Tony said smiling.
Nervously, we all then began the ascend into the plane.
Bob went first, then Derek, then Corey, then Ricky, then Stephen, then me, and last was Tony.
“Who’s Edgar?”, I heard Tony ask from behind me.
If you remember, Tony had never met Edgar before.
“Long story short, Dude!”, I answered, slightly turning around but still walking up the stairs, “He recorded our album, played keyboards on it, put backmasking bullshit on the tapes, turned into a demon, and tried to kill us!”
“Dang!”, is all Tony said.
We reached the top of the stairs.
Bob shook Edgar’s hand, stepping inside.
Edgar then raised his hand to high five each one of us.
We all high fived him, nervously smiling, as we stepped onto the plane as well.
“Hi, Pilot Guy!”, we heard Tony say, stepping onto the plane. “I’m Tony! I’m their bodyguard!”
“Wonderful!”, Edgar replied.
“Have a look around, Guys! I’ll let you know when we’re taking off. I have to contact the tower to get clearance or something, I think. This is my first time ever flying a real plane. I’m kinda nervous.”, he said.
That did not help the situation AT ALL!
“Boys, right this way!”, Bob said, pushing a curtain open that lead into the fuselage, or the main body section of the plane.
“You see Boys! I have taken the liberty of dividing the fuselage into three separate sections. First is what I like to call… your “Hangout” section.
The room was filled with luxurious high-end furniture, tables and chairs.
A huge 85 inch flat screen television hung to your left, on the same wall the curtain was on when you first walked in, with both Atari, and Nintendo NES game systems hooked up to it, with a huge stack of games, for each console, next to them, and a Gothic Victorian style chair sat to the right of the curtain.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Flat screens didn’t come out until 1997! So how did you have one back then!”, and my answer to that would be… I don’t know. But, Bob is the devil, so…
Anyway, There was a fully stocked coffee bar, and a fully stocked beer on tap station, with six of the best beers the 80’s had to offer, as well as a stack of red Solo cups on the left side, and a make your own SUBWAY sub and sandwich station, all on the left side wall, six pinball machines sat vertically along the wall in front of you when you first walked in, with one wooden door in the middle of them.
Large couches sat on the wall to your right. In between them were two vending machines, one was a cigarette vending machine, but the other was something I had never seen before.
“What’s that?” I asked, pointing to the machine on the right.
“Oh! That is a marijuana vending machine, same design as the cigarette machine, only with joints already rolled, in packs of 20. I created it myself!”, Bob answered.
There were ashtrays on the tables, with lighters on the tables next to each one.
“Everything on this plane is free, Boys! If you run out of something, wait 5 seconds, human time, and what ever you ran out of will automatically fill back up.”, he told us, “Here you can drink, smoke, party, play games, and have a grand ole time.
“Free weed, Dude! We won’t need Randy anymore!”, Derek said to Corey.
“Yeah! No more Randy!”, Corey replied, laughing.
“Beyond that door there, is the second section, what I like to call… your sleeping/entertainment section.”, Bob said, “Here, let me show you, Boys!”
Tony laid his accordion on the couch on the right.
We all then walked over to the door, and Bob opened it.
Inside was a long hallway that stretched the entire length of the room, with another wooden door at the end.
There were 3 wooden doors on each side, a small nameplate was positioned at eye level, on the right side of each door, with the name of each one of us, on each plate, so six small rooms occupied this space
“Here you can sleep, in your own room, Boys! or “entertain” the ladies!”
“We don’t need to sleep!”, Derek said.
“Well, four of you don’t, one of you doesn’t have to sleep if he doesn’t want to, only one of you has to sleep, and if he doesn’t want to, I’m sure Mr. Hard-Sell here could help him out with that. It’s mostly for entertainment purposes.”, Bob said.
“Huh?”, Tony said.
“Girls!”, Corey responded, moving his hands in a curving fashion, up and down, “You know… Girls!” He emphasized the word girls when he said it the last time.
“Oh! I like girls! They’re pretty!”, Tony said.
“Anyway, each room is equipped with a bunk style bed. After all, that is all you will need.”
“What’s behind that door?”, Stephen asked, pointing to the door at the end of the hallway.
We all then began walking down the hallway to the door.
Bob then opened it.
Just like in the room that should have been the bathroom in the house, this room had what?
That’s right!… Our Gear!
Well, not OUR gear, but new gear.
A brand new Yamaha Drum kit, as well as a brand new set of Warmie Promark LA Special drum sticks, just like Bobby Blotzer from RATT used, sat in front of 5 Marshall stacks which sat against the far wall.
The drums were designed with flames, with the band name printed on the bass drum, written in flames as well.
They were obviously for Stephen.
That wall had no door this time, but there was a little room, maybe 3x3, that sat on the left side of the stacks and the drum kit. Bob said that was the bathroom, or lavatory, as he put it.
Anyway, There were 3 ESP guitars, with straps, on stands, just like George Lynch from Dokken played, to the right of the drums. Bob said those were mine. One had flames, one had a coffee cup design, and the other was leopard print.
There were 3 Les Paul Standards, also with straps, on stands, just like Kirk Hammett played, next to mine on the right, those were Ricky’s. One had a broken glass design, one was white with some kind of Japanese insignia, and one had the label of a Budweiser bottle on it.
There were 3 Ibanez Thunderbird Basses, again with straps, on stands, just like Nikki Sixx from… if you don’t know what band Nikki Sixx plays with, you’re probably too young to appreciate this story.
Anyway, they were to the left of the drums, the basses had no designs, they were black, red, and dark blue. Those were obviously Derek’s.
There were 4 Shure Cardioid Condensed Microphones, just like Lenny Kilister from Motörhead used, sitting in front of the drums. One of those were Corey’s and the rest were for Derek, Ricky, and I to use for backing vocals.
A brand new MRX Analog Chorus pedal, just like Eddie Ojeda from Twisted Sister used, sat in front of each set of guitars.
All the plug-ins were neatly piled in front of each instrument.
There was no keyboard, like Edgar played on the album, which was odd to me.
”You see, Boys! As your manager, i have been offered very lucrative endorsement contracts from each of these fine companies, on your behalf of course. When we get back from the tour, I will present the contracts to you for your signing.
All the companies have agreed to let you try out their products first, before making any decisions!”
Derek yelled out, “EVERYBODY!”,
The rest of us screamed, “ROCK AND ROLL!”, and began celebrating, and high-fiving each other, including Tony.
“Also, I contacted a sandwich company called, SUBWAY, and offered you, Tony, as being their official spokesperson. They said that your size would not be a very good image for their company, but after agreeing to supply the CEO with a lifetime supply of Kit Kat candy bars, She agreed.
Your contract is very lucrative as well.
Now, Boys! We’ll be taking off soon. Let’s head back to the front, shall we?”, Bob said.
We all began walking back, Bob closing each door behind us.
We arrived back at the “Hangout” section, and began indulging in all the incentives.
Do I really have to tell you who went where, you get the idea, Right?
Anyway, after getting our incentives and taking a seat at the table, we all began talking, as Bob stood in front of the TV.
In midst of conversation, we heard, “Daddy, Where are you!”, a soft woman’s voice said from behind the curtain.
We all stopped talking and looked in that direction.
The curtain slowly began to open, revealing a long red haired woman standing there seductively.
She had bright green eyes, pouty lips, and was very well endowed.
She wore a skin tight, low cut stewardesses top, with a low cut skirt, and what appeared to be 6 inch stiletto heels on her feet.
Her left leg was positioned in front of her right leg, with her knee bent, with only the toes of her heels touching the floor.
She was holding the curtain open with both hands, and leaning in toward the room, with her head tilted to the side.
She looked like a Rock Goddess.
“Ah! There you are!”, Bob said to her, “Right on time!”
“Boys! I’d like you to meet Rebecca. She will be your stewardess for todays flight, and every flight there after.
If you need anything, outside of these incentives, food and beverage wise, Rebecca will go to the kitchen area, which is right behind that curtain, and prepare it for you.
A steak, a hamburger, a glass of soda, or a cup of tea.
The kitchen area, as well as the Cockpit, which lies just beyond the kitchen, are both off limits to all of you.
“I don’t drink tea! I’m still mad at the British!”, Tony said.
I snickered.
The rest of the guys, including Bob, just looked at him funny.
If you don’t get it, you probably never will.
Anyway, Bob then continued, “Rebecca will also be your nurse, she has a totally different outfit for that, just in case any, accidents may occur.
Say Hi, Rebecca”, Bob said.
“Hi, Boys!”, she said seductively.
Bob then looked at her hard faced, then turned back to us.
“Like I said, Boys! Everything on this plane is free, except for her, not even for a price. Do you understand?”
Before we could answered, we all heard Rebecca say seductively, “Aw, Daddy! But they’re so cute!”
“ENOUGH!”, Bob bellowed at her, “Go tell Edgar we’re ready!”
“Yes, Daddy!”, she said saddened, and slowly turned to go back through the curtain.
“Dude! That’s the Devils Daughter! We’ve heard songs about her.”, Derek said, laughing.
Bob looked at Derek more intensely then he looked at Rebecca.
“I’m just kidding, Man! We ain’t heard shit. Right, Core?”, Derek said nervously.
“Yeah, Man! Nothing!”, Corey said, shaking his head.
Everyone else had their eyes fixated on Bob.
I, however, couldn’t take my eyes off of Rebecca.
Not because she was incredibly gorgeous, even though she really wasn’t my type.
No!
It was because something didn’t seem right to me. Something that told me, she was different than your average sexy, voluptuous, naughty stewardess.
And my assessment was correct.
When she fully turned around, to go back behind the curtain, I saw what the difference was.
She had a tail.
It was waving excitedly behind her.

How long does it take to become re-addicted to nicotine?
Video explores the question that some former smokers find themselves asking of how long it could take them to get re-addicted to nicotine after they have been off smoking for a long length of time.
Question: How long does it take to become re-addicted to nicotine?
Answer: There is no answer, it was a trick question. You never got unaddicted.
The question should have been how long does it take to relapse? The answer to this is how long does it take you to secure a cigarette, strike a match or lighter and take a puff? It can happen in an instant if you ever drop your guard.
So how long does it take to secure your quit? It only takes a few seconds, the time that it should take for you to just remind yourself as to why you committed to Never Take Another Puff!

2024.05.20 22:26 maxp_99 Very weird dream on vacation that affected reality

I was on a small vacation with my girlfriend this weekend and had a very creepy experience there that both of us witnessed.
We were visiting a lake in Austria that also happens to have some nice villas. One of these was visible from the balcony of our apartment so we went to check it out. Had to walk through the woods a bit to get a closer look, and the closer we got, we had an increasing feeling that we were being watched. We turned back as it was almost dark.
We did some research after and found out that the whole area we visited has a lot of nazi history, being a hideout for high level officers etc, so we watched some documentaries later that night and theorized.
The night was strange to see the least. At one point we both woke up because we heard a couple loud knocks on the window, which we left half open during the night. I remember standing up, looking out to check and closing afterwards. At another point I woke up because I got scared of something I dreamt of but don't remember and telling my girlfriend "come here" and hug her. She asked me what it was about when she woke up and I couldn't tell her, so we went back to sleep.
The next dream was the weirdest thing that ever happened to me. It was only auditive. an unknown voice telling me to give them my black and gold lighter, because it belongs to them. I used this exact lighter to light a cigarette half an hour before going to sleep that day. The weirdest part about this was that I only remembered this because I was looking for it the next day, and the damn thing was actually gone. I know that lighters are prone to being lost, but we only had a small room there and I looked for it extensively. When I realized this I got goosebumps, still have them while typing this.
This all seems so random and I have no idea what to make of it, that's why I'm sharing it to hear other peoples thoughts. I think we might have manifested something by directing our energy towards the history of the place earlier that evening.

Hello! I've been on dating apps for a hot second (ok, only like 2 weeks give or take) but I thought I'd try and branch out and consider dipping my toes into the online dating pool! In China, you become 剩女 (shengnu) when you hit 30 and are single and unmarried, so my parents have been pestering me about my dating life.. I've had some irl situationships but nothing's really stuck.
TLDR: Looking for the MyMelo to my Kuromi! (Or we can both be Kuromi, that's fine too)

2024.05.20 18:37 Toddler-Blender I was abducted as a child

What I'm about to talk about is extremely graphic. Please don't take this as a "woe is me" kinda thing, but as a warning. I withhold this story because when I tell it it makes people cry, and I really really hate doing that to people. So I hold it tight, only my closest friends know about it and I've never truly gotten to go into detail about what I went through. I need my story to be heard, keeping it a secret eats me up and I feel knowing that it is out there somewhere will bring me some peace.
When I was 8 years old I was abducted. I was out sledding alone when I was approached by a man, in his mid to late twenties, ripped jeans, wearing one of those douchey beanies with the brim that were so popular back in the mid 2000's. He stood with me and chatted while I was sledding, smoking his cigarettes and making himself out to be my friend. He invited me in to watch the winter Olympics with him and his friends, he said they were watching the bobsledding and I should come watch with them. I knew stranger danger, I was taught not to go with strange adults, but I did. I don't fully understand why I went with him, I was never allowed to say "no" growing up, if an adult told me to do something I was taught to do it no ifs ands or buts is the best reasoning I can think of but I don't know what the fuck I was thinking. I went in with him and he was telling the truth, he had his 2 friends with him, and they were in fact watching bobsledding. I remember this moment so clearly, the image on the TV his hand on the back of his neck, as he guided me in. His house was filthy, empty beer bottles everywhere, he had an old dark green couch, the fabric of the couch really sticks with me for some reason, I can hardly remember it but it feels so vivd, I believe it was corduroy, and a matching armchair. It gets so fuzzy from here, there's so much I can't remember, I've just pieced together the best I can, trying to make sense of it. I tried to run and hide, i tried crawling under the couch to get away from them, I think I was half dressed at this point, I think remember the sensation of my long underwear around my ankles, I think. Because what sticks with me the most is the feeling of terror in that moment, looking up at him as he flipped the couch to get me out. I think it was Donald in this moment, but I can't be certain, I can't remember the face, when I look back at it he just looks like some sort of monster. I so clearly remember the feeling of his hands on my ankles, as he ripped my out of my hiding spot, it's one of the first sensations I get in my flashbacks. I felt so helpless, so overpowered, but I fought back, kicking, flailing, screaming. I feel so brave for that, so strong for even being willing to try, but no matter how hard I fought back, I still didn't stand a chance. Once I was completely unclothed, they started to "stretch me out", I don't even know if thats how they said it, but the phrase truly haunts me, it gets stuck in my head, hearing it over and over again. They used the scattered beer bottles first, and eased the bottle into me. As weird as it sounds the bottles weren't the worst part of this moment to me, shortly after getting pulled out from under the couch to shortly after having something inside me. Sometime within that timespan was when they broke my will, I gave up, I just wanted it to end, I wanted to die. I quit fighting back. The next part.i remember Donald laying on top of my back, I remember I was doggy position on the coffee table, I remember his breath on the back of my neck, and how he felt inside of me. I remember Donald and his friend using both my back and my front. All three of them used me, but the rest of it is empty space. Next thing I remember I was laying naked on the floor, I feel the child inside of me died right there. Not physically but emotionally, spiritually. I was still, frozen, empty inside, and left that way. I put my clothes on, grabbed my sled and walked home. I got home, told my step dad I had fun playing outside, and that I met a new friend. I didn't have the words to say what happened to me, or the capacity to even understand what happened, to know how wrong it was. I just went to bed and told myself it never happened until I believed it. Looking back I think the way they were hurting me was a big part of their fun, I remember laughter a lot it, while they were doing this to me, like it was just another fun afternoon for them. I was not a human being, I was a toy.
The years passed, and the memory was deeply buried, I couldn't remember any of it for most of my life. My PTSD symptoms, were present but I didn't experience flashbacks and it was too mild to notice. It took my parents 4 years to notice something was wrong, and by then it was too late.
It essentially lied dormant for 15 years, it all came back to me when I was 23. My mental health had hit an all time low, I started having panic attacks which is unusual for me and became extremely agitated. Id always known I had something buried deep, some piece of me I was hiding. I felt I needed to do something, so I started going through childhood memories, trying to remember the source of my pain. I was at work when it hit me, I realized oh my god it's real, that actually happened to me. I fell to pieces, my PTSD suddenly became severe, my world flipped upside down. I couldn't handle the pain and I lost everything, over the next few months. I realized that if I dont improve my life for the better drastically I will die, suicide was my only other option life was truly unbearable, I didn't understand what happened. For the sake of ending on a lighter note I got into therapy, and have been healing, this was far from the only abuse I suffered and have had a long, messy journey healing. But now I am the happiest I have ever been, I am healing and overcoming the pain and damage they did to me.
If you made it this far, thank you.

2024.05.20 17:51 Forward3000 Something Light

Comedy Romance Sci-Fi Western Thriller....
My feet hurt. My joints hurt. My soul hurt. All the options on the TV screen looked bright and exhausting.
My phone rang. It was my landlord, Margaret. Also my best (and only) friend.
"It sounds like you need a comedy," she murmured around her cigarette. I heard the metallic click of her lighter.
"I watched a comedy last night," I reminded her patiently. "And the night before."
"And did they help?"
"Yes. But I'm tired again. So what's the point?"
Dry laughter echoed from her smoke cured throat. "There is no point, Veronica. We just survive" She hung up.
I started a show. The husband was a goofball. The wife's eyebrows were permanently raised. She always wore pantsuits. They argued over who was the bigger stereotype. So many colourful friends... It was strangely comforting....
I woke up. The show was still playing.
Margaret rang me.
"I finished the comedy. I feel a lot better, thank you... Margaret?"
"Ver-o-ni-ca," a man purred. His familiar voice was low, smooth and cruel.
I gripped the phone so tightly that my hand spasmed. "Bill," I whimpered.
"Yes, Bill," he said softly. "Bill's been shot, poisoned, stabbed, run over, jailed and even killed. But Bill keeps coming back."
"Where's Margaret?"
"She's taking a nap," he laughed. I heard him light a cigarette. "Now let's watch this show together. Like a family."
It was torture. His sneering laugh contrasted with the bright, studio laughter. He laughed when nothing funny had been said. I knew he was actually laughing at me. And what about poor Margaret? Tears silently ran down my face.
The phone had fallen quiet. Where was he?
Somebody knocked on my door.
My heart stopped. But - wait - yes! It was Margaret's secret knock.
I walked on wobbly legs and opened the door. Blessed old Margaret stood there in her dressing gown. In one hand, she held Bill's decapitated head.
"He was tough tonight," she rasped, cutting through my babbling. "But I'm tougher."
"Oh, Margaret! I would never survive without you!"
"Yes yes, I know, dear." She threw the head into my apartment. It thumped and rolled. "Did you like the comedy?"
"Oh yes it was wonderful. Just what I needed!"
We talked for a few more minutes then said goodnight. I locked my door.
Behind me came a mocking laugh. I whirled around and screamed.
Bill's disembodied head floated in mid-air. His eyes were wide; his smile was hungry; his hair wild.
"Oh, Margaret, save me! Oh, Margaret, I love you!" he sang. His breath was rancid as he closed in on me.
My first instinct was to run. To cry. To get Margaret.
Instead I grabbed a can of bug spray and my keys off the table and faced him head on.

2024.05.20 15:48 Sexualintrigue666 Volt Drop on Bass Meter. 12V Socket Meter Does Not.

Hello. 2013 Focus ST with stock 150amp alt at 60k miles.
I have a D4S MM1000 watt amp for my Dayton Ultimax 10 + MM1004 for my front and rear “stage”. 1400 watts MAX. When I’m at about 65-70% volume I start getting a drop on the bass knob volt meter. The amp bass knob meter can dip to 12 or lower.
Also, I have a cigarette lighter style volt meter, it does not really drop on that one.
Stuff I’ve done: I did a “Big 3” (no change) I tried an Ioxus ultracap(didn’t work), finally settled on a 48ah Lithium. With all my upgrades I don’t think I should see much of any drop. I should be good for like 4k watts I would think.
I don’t get it. The only thing I haven’t done is replace the alternator. Is it time for a new alt? I can do this. It’s a huge PIA to change, but I’ll do it. I just don’t want to do it and have it not fix the prob.
Has anyone had something similar? Help me Reddit! But seriously any help/ suggestions/ opinions would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
