What bothers me about sprint…

2024.05.21 23:32 Pyromantica What bothers me about sprint…

Isn’t the lack of dash-spamming, it’s that it’s a lesser mode of mobility.
I played the first Hades for the first time just last week, clocked about 40-ish hours before trying Hades 2 just last night. I, naturally, just got done spam-dashing for hours as Zagreus, and it took me some time to adjust to Mel’s dash-sprint instead.
I’ve only made it to the Fields of Mourning thus far, but I feel like I’ve adjusted to the sprint now. I use it intentionally, as opposed to “accidentally” sprinting because my brain was still in dash-spam mode. I can see the benefit to the various boons that buff sprint. I don’t hate it like I did when I first started.
But.
Something I do hate about it? It doesn’t work with a lot of the arena layouts.
In Hades 1, when Zag was dashing, he could often dash through/over traps or otherwise-impassable gaps. Mel can’t, and I often find myself sprinting like the wind, feeling good about (un)life - only to stop cold because I clipped some rando rock in the Crossroads, or the corner of a pool in Oceanus. I don’t want to talk about how many times I’ve been running from Hecate’s swipes only to smash Mel’s beautiful face directly into a tree.
This is made worse by the fact that most levels are small, full of holes/gaps, cluttered with traps, or all three. I’m already often slipping out of sprint to get off an attack chain or Omega move - it feels like it breaks my flow when my sprint is stopped cold by the insurmountable wall of a small knee-deep pond.
I know that in the first game, Zag’s dash would sometimes extend slightly to get him over gaps he couldn’t cross otherwise. Imo, sprint would feel better if it did something similar - if it allowed you to phase over gaps or around (non-damaging) obstacles. It could be framed as Mel leaping ovearound whatever’s in her path, she’d still be open and vulnerable to attack, same as with Sprint as it is now, but with a better sense of flow and speed, a bit more ease-of-use. I think it also makes more sense if this game’s style is supposed to be more about long-range hit-and-run tactics: you can leap over arena gaps to put an extra barrier between yourself and melee enemies, but it’s not just dropping sprint or making it a mimic of Zag’s infinite I-frames dash spamming.
Thoughts?

2024.05.21 21:14 Cyborg800_2004 Countering claims about the Craig era

The Craig films were devoid of charm and humour
A video by my fellow moderator u/Sneaky_Bond shows many examples of the Craig era having humour and charm. The humour in Craig's films are more in the vein of Connery than Moore, being drier and more subtle. The comedy of Connery's last film and then Moore's are more blatant and the films take themselves much less seriously. That being said, Craig's last two films do incorporate more gags à la Moore like Bond falling from a crumbling floor to a couch in Spectre and No Time To Die's slapstick Cuba shootout.
Craig's films aren't Bond films and do not resemble the previous films, totally eschewing elements like exotic locales, beautiful women, fancy cars and clothing, diabolical villains, far-fetched world domination schemes, deadly henchmen with a gimmick, lavish opening title sequences, the roaring orchestral scores, the over-the-top action scenes, the beautiful girl who ends up betraying him, the needlessly complicated death-trap because apparently a bullet just won't suffice...
Again, Sneaky's video disproves the lack of personality and charm. Every Craig films had exotic locales, beautiful women, gadgets, fancy cars and clothing, diabolical villains, lavish opening title sequences, roaring orchestral scores, and over-the-top action scenes. The beautiful traitor, convoluted death-traps, far-feteched world domination schemes, deadly henchmen with gimmicks each appeared in at least one of the Craig films. They didn't always show up pre-Craig anyways.
Craig is not a real Bond, but a Jason Bourne clone
Craig's first two films did take a more grounded and intense approach like Bourne, but the franchise has always blended the elements of its contemporaries with the classic formula to stay relevant. More importantly, following the lead of Bourne and Batman Begins finally made harkening closer to the novels (again, thanks u/Sneaky_Bond) palatable for audiences who previously rejected entries like Dalton's. The novels aren't the end-be-it-all for what the franchise should be, but their influence cannot be overstated, and Eon has said as much. The six sixties films represent the golden age for the franchise, and five of them were direct adaptations of the novels. The franchise has swung the pendulum between lighthearted fantasy (which increasingly departed from the source material with films like Guy Hamilton and Lewis Gilbert's) and more serious grounded fare (like John Glen's films), and, even putting aside the novels, there are precedence for what the Craig films did in previous films.
Craig's Bond enjoys killing and is a serial abuser of women
It's made very clear that Craig's Bond dislikes killing, with him squirming when drowning Dryden's contact in Casino Royale and refusing to look at Slate and Safin's eyes in Quantum of Solace and No Time To Die respectively. As for abusing women, Bond's relationships with Vesper, Camille, and Madeline were anything but abuse. He does seduce Fields and Lucia to achieve his goals and his sleeping with Severine is contentious, albeit presented as consensual, but these are tame compared earlier films like Goldfinger, Thunderball, and The Man With The Golden Gun.
Craig wanted to kill off Bond because he hated the role
He doesn't. The "wrist-slitting" comment that his detractors frequently use as "proof" was, according to him, an ill-advised attempt at a joke that he regrets, and was borne from a troubled production that saw him stick with a tear in the ACL for nine months to prevent delays. As for Bond's death, his comments on NTTD's ending and the influences from OHMSS and Fleming's work show a clear artistic desire to wrap up his era definitively to allow the next to start fresh while still paying tribute to the source material. While the execution may not have been the best, there were no ill intentions behind the decision to kill off Bond.
Barbara Broccoli kept Craig on for so long because she was infatuated with him
This is a rather sexist insinuation. Did Albert Broccoli keep Moore on for so long because he was in love with him? Craig was a popular Bond whose five films are all in the top half financially when adjusted for inflation. Skyfall/Spectre rivals GoldfingeThunderball, released during the franchise's peak in popularity culturally, as the most successful consecutive pair of films in franchise history. It made sense from a business perspective to retain Craig for so long.
The films are taking forever to get made; Eon is resting on its laurels.
Not exactly. using the UK release dates, for the Brosnan era, GoldenEye first released November 24, 1995; Tomorrow Never Dies December 12, 1997 (749 days); The World Is Not Enough November 26, 1999 (714 days); and Die Another Day November 20, 2002 (1090 days). That makes for an average of 2.33 years between films.
Now for Craig's first four films, Casino Royale released November 16, 2006; Quantum of Solace October 31, 2008 (715 days); Skyfall October 26, 2012 (1456 days); and Spectre October 26, 2015 (1095 days). There was an average of 2.98 years between films, meaning that the average increased by 237 days, or around 8 months, between films compared to the Brosnan era. It should be noted that Skyfall lost a year of pre-production because MGM declared bankruptcy.
No Time To Die would have originally released October 25, 2019, 1460 days after SP first released, bringing the average to 3.23 years between films. Due to the original director and writer leaving, the film's final release date pre-pandemic was April 3, 2020, 1621 days later, bringing the average to 3.34. The true release date was ultimately September 30, 2021, 2166 days later, resulting in an average of 3.72.
Making films takes more time and resources. While it would be nice to have more films frequently, it's understandable that the average time between films has increased, more so when considering the production issues Skyfall and No Time To Die faced.

2024.05.21 21:06 Asianati Hoping to Answer Common OCS Questions (Requirements, Advice, Additional Items to Get, What to Expect)

Hi Ya'll,
I recently graduated OCS and I have been bombarded myself in real life over what to expect with OCS. For context, I went from basic training straight to OCS, and even graduated with honors. From the time of writing this post, it has officially been a month since I graduated. So here is a list of common questions I get and I hope I can settle some anxiety for all of you future 2nd LTs.
Warning: The cadre at OCS does read these Reddit posts, so I won't be able to post answers to tests or events.
  1. I haven't received a welcome letter or a packing list. Where can I find it?
    • Fort Moore Officer Candidate School (army.mil) I would download and print the packing list and the ISAP. The ISAP acts more or less like a syllabus from college. It will give a rough understanding of the rules, regulations, and requirements for you to pass.
  2. Is everything on the packing list required?
    • Yes. Try your best to follow the packing list to the letter. It is almost entirely dependent on the cadre and of course, the weather does play a part in their decision making. Some things you'll find you didn't really need or use throughout your cycle. For example, my cycle didn't use 550 Cord almost at all, but I used it to build a hooch and secure sensitive items.
  3. What if I don't have the required equipment on the packing list?
    • When it comes to military equipment, try your best and bring what you can. I was never issued an IFAK before OCS or after. The cadre understands they have some coming from basic and those in-service. So if you have it, bring it. If not, bring it up to your cadre and they'll schedule time to get it issued to you.
  4. Anything not on the packing list you recommend?
    • I would recommend the following: hand soap, bathroom spray, travel vacuum, wet wipes, clipboard with compartment, pillow, very bright headlamp, multitool, and laminator. Hand soap because for some reason OCS had a hard time procuring it. Travel vacuum because you'll likely have 2 or 3 vacuums available to your platoon and having your own saves time. Wet wipes to dust everything down. Clipboard with compartment for Land Nav as you'll be running with maps, marker, protractor, and your points so its best to have something safe and secure. Laminator for your papers because its Georgia and your papers can get wet. The pillows at OCS have this weird plastic cover on so if you want a better night sleep, get a better pillow. The headlamp is just in case, some classes enforce the lumen limit while others don't, Land Nav is DARK so if you can find a lighthouse out there, do it. The multitool is just useful to have especially if you are out in the field.
  5. Where can I find some things on the packing list I am missing?
  6. I saw you can bring your laptops? Is it required for classes? Can I opted in for a tablet or iPad?
    • You can bring a personal laptop primarily for recreational use after duty hours. OCS will provide you with a government laptop that you'll need to use your CAC to access. Tablets and iPads are not considered laptops and will be confiscated like a phone. If the majority of your class has issues with the government-issued laptops, then the cadre may allow the use of your personal laptops.
  7. What is your day-to-day look like?
    • Mostly on a non-physical or FTX event coming up you'll follow the following schedule: 0500 - wake up. First formation is at 0600, then you conduct PT until breakfast. After breakfast, you will head to the classroom and stay there until lunch, return and stay there until dinner. After dinner, it will be the end of the duty hours and you'll roughly have 2 hours for personal time.
  8. What are the most important categories/test to focus on?
    • Treat everything as important. Every test you do not pass can put you at risk of being recycled, and it is up to you to catch up. For example while everyone is studying for tactics, you'll be studying tactics and history if you failed history. So save yourself the hassle and take every test seriously. The big 3 recycle events have been historically, Army History (70% to pass), Land Nav (4 points or more to pass (day and night)), and the 4-mile run (need to run in under 36 minutes regardless of gender).
  9. How many retests or chances do you get?
    • You get 2 tries at everything before recycle. You get 2 tries again at the same test then you can be dismissed. For example: You are part of Alpha company. You failed history twice. You get recycled into Bravo company. You failed history twice again. You can be dismissed.
    • If you happen to pass history but fail Land Nav twice, then you'll be recycled into Charlie. If you fail Land Nav twice then you can be dismissed.
  10. What is a recycle? What does it look like in OCS? Can you get dismissed?
    • A recycle is when you fail something twice and you get "recycled" into the next class. A recycle can occur for other reasons such as illness or injury. You can also be recycled for improper behavior or being "peered out". Every class starts up in a like a month (I heard they are changing that for even further out). So even though the cycle takes about 12 weeks to complete, if you get recycled you can expect more like 16 weeks or more. We had someone at OCS who has been with it for a year. If you get recycled for repeat offenses, or do something majorly bad such as breaking the law, then you can be dismissed.
  11. What is being peered out mean?
    • Throughout the cycle you are put into a platoon and then a squad. Your squadmates eventually all sit down and fill out a form to give to the cadre who is the weakest link in the squad. Usually, squads kick out the person they do not like. We had to kick out one person because they didn't mesh well within the squad and wasn't very kind. He would then get replaced with someone else who got peered out. Luckily after that one person got kicked out, the squad improved and we tried our hardest to keep it together. We still needed to peer someone out, but we kept tabs on them and invited them to a lot of our squad functions nonetheless as my squads grew to love and respect each other as a family.
    • If you do get peered out, unfortunately, you get a spot report, moved to a different squad, and are at risk of being recycled if peered out again. Stay humble and help out whenever you can. I got the most respect from my squadmates as I stayed up late with them to help them with their STX lanes.
  12. What is personal time like?
    • You essentially use personal time to work out if the PT wasn't enough, clean yourself, and prepare for bed. Yes if you have time, you can contact family and friends (when you get your phones), and if you have the time, play games. I don't recommend playing games as it distracts you from the mission of graduating.
  13. What are the different phases like?
    • You are separated into 3 phases. Black, Blue, and White. You immediately enter black phase upon arrival with a tradition called "Gold to Black". Which is more or less a physical smoking session. During Black you are expected to run everywhere, not be able to drink coffee, have your phone confiscated (and given back on Sunday), and have less personal time. Blue you get the ability to drink coffee again, and you have your phones returned and used only during personal time. During Blue you get the ability to visit and explore the base (Fort Moore) and shop around. During White phase you get the ability to explore off-base (Columbus) and you get to wear civilian clothes. White phase if you leave off-post, you need to be in uniform, and on-base you can be in civilians.
  14. Can you use your personal vehicle?
    • Yes, but you can only drive it during White Phase
  15. How can I keep in contact with my family during Black phase?
    • I recommend that you download WhatsApp or some other social media on your laptop and have your family members on it.
  16. Can I visit the gym on base?
    • Yes during Blue phase you can visit the gym. Rules regulate that you leave the footprint in uniform and change into the appropriate PT uniform once at the gym and conducting PT.
  17. What is the DFAC like?
    • The DFAC is better than basic training and offers snacks like cookies, granola bars, ice cream, and soda. They have a salad bar and the usual cycle of foods. They do have a "short-order" line that serves fries, burgers, hot dogs, etc. To stay in physical shape, I recommend eating your fruit and a side salad every meal. Drink juice, Gatorade, or water only. I only drank soda and the burger after an intense physical requirement like a long run or a ruck march to regain my glucose and caloric levels.
  18. Does Amazon deliver there?
    • Yes, you can have other things delivered to the footprint. However, the Cadre are going to inspect it for food and other contraband. Just ask the cadre for the delivery address. It may take like 2 weeks for them to deliver it.
  19. Any final advice?
    • Be helpful and noticeable amongst your squad but try not to bring attention to yourself from the cadre. Take everything seriously and give yourself proper rest and proper nutrition. OCS is not hard, but it can be if you let it get to you. OCS is designed to test your competency, commitment, and character. I luckily had an amazing squad, and I had a blast with them.
  20. Any advice on room cleanliness?
    • Your rooms will always be inspectable. You literally leave the door open and cadre can enter whenever they please to inspect your room. Room inspections are always very strict and can result in spot reports. Some tips I did with my roommates were the following: Always help each other lock each other's lockers. If it is open the cadre will then see how much of a mess it is. My closet was 90% of the time never up to standard as it is hard to putting away everything nice and neat every single night. I also slept on the floor to not disturb my bed as any wrinkle can result in a spot report. I used an extra towel as a display in the bathroom and never used it, and I used an extra laundry bag as a display and never used it.
I want this to be an open forum so don't be afraid to leave any more questions below. If the answer you are seeking is not above, then write the question in the comments, and I will try my best to answer you before you are sent off. Best of luck, thank you for your service, and be the best leaders your soldiers deserve.

2024.05.21 19:11 NewLexican Engineering gameplay doesn't make me feel like an engineer

Since backing SC in 2013, I've advocated that profession-based gameplay should be the cornerstone of building the player experience.
After playing the 3.23 experimental mode and watching (for the first time) the CitCon 2023 segment, I can say engineering gameplay doesn't do a thing to make me feel like an engineer.
  1. Engineering gameplay is mostly devoid of engineering principles.
  2. What seems to be the intended source of "fun" won't work at all scales.
Addressing the second point first, even watching the devs play, it seems the design is leaning into the idea of frenetic action, bouncing from crisis to crisis, being a driver of "fun." On a larger, multi-deck ship like a Hercules, this design can deliver. But what happens to the frenetic feeling on smaller ships like a Connie or Freelancer where moving from crisis to crisis means walking a few meters or simply turning your body a little?
Returning to the first point, with repairing ship components - Resource Management would be a topic for another discussion - CIG has delivered Barotrauma's gameplay in a spaceship. Instead of using a magic wrench to fight flooding and repair equipment in a submarine, we have a magic pistol to fight fires and repair equipment in a spaceship.
Back in 2021, I authored a post on the importance of authentic-feeling profession-based gameplay in which I deconstructed and rebuilt mining as an example. If the mining gameplay mechanic had instead been introduced as part of hacking gameplay - siphoning data off a network while keeping the data flow rate high enough to finish in time but low enough to not alert intrusion detection systems - nobody would have questioned it. Nothing about mining gameplay makes it feel specific to working on large rocks.
Now, like rocks, ship components are non-descript containers filled with numbers, and repairing them entails no more than pointing a magic beam that improves the health number. Where's the engineering?
Instead, imagine if ship components had two, three, or four printed circuit boards (like your computer's motherboard) in them. Conductive lines, called traces, connect bobs and doodads that combine to fulfill some function.
The repair process would entail using the cutting tool to remove the damaged area of a board. The board is scanned, and a mobile 3D printer - maybe a couple of levitating dinner plate-sized discs - prints a replacement patch and inserts the bobs and doodads. The engineer affixes the patch, which fuses into place. They then use an extruder attachment on the multitool - think a plumber's caulking gun - to fill conductive RMC in groves that indicate the trace locations.
Simple enough that doing routine maintenance doesn't become drudgery while being involved enough that performing it in a stressful situation is non-trivial.
Simple additions like a curing time for the 3D-printed patch material could add more engineering flavor to a mission's story.
"Captain, engines are functional again, but I'll need to refurbish the whole thing when we get back to port if we put too much stress on them now."
Imagine now if each quadrant of a board fulfilled some function. This cluster of bobs and doodads together perform power regulation. Another cluster does signal focusing, etc. With this design, an engineer could restore partial functionality in time-sensitive situations.
"Captain, the shields are back online, but someone will have to babysit the power triangle if we run them at more than 50%."
Further, imagine if the actual layout of traces, bobs, and doodads on the board mattered in the context of simple principles: coherence and interference.
Coherence - E.g., to perform the function of power regulation, these seven bobs and doodads must be physically located near enough to one another.
Interference - Bobs, doodads, and traces all generate fields of "interference" in both electrical (current) and thermal domains. Too close proximity impacts wear and tear and can result in failures.
So, we have a tug-of-war between competing objectives on a surface with limited real estate. Factors like total trace length could impact performance, power efficiency, or whatever.
How does this design impact the player experience?
While mining a lucrative field of rocks in the upper atmosphere of a gas giant, an Orion's sensors go down. The engineer finds two traces showing overcurrent damage in adjacent locations on board #3. Repairs are made, but forty minutes later, another failure. More precisely, the same failure. The engineer suspects something about the environment is causing an electrical arc between the two traces.
Knowing there's a lot more wealth to be mined at the planet, the captain contracts a Reliant Sen to survey the upper atmosphere of the giant. The Sen captain delivers a computer simulation of the atmosphere to the Orion's engineer who plugs it into their workbench. Testing reveals that, in this environment, the interference in the "current domain" for traces is exaggerated. So, the board layout needs to be adjusted to move the closest traces further apart; time to play tug-of-war.
Engineering gameplay that makes you feel like an engineer...
For me, too much of too many profession-based systems is being abstracted at too high a level to deliver engaging gameplay. Moreover, abstraction at a high level means the universe lacks fundamental structures that can tie different professions, and players, together.
Imagine in our gas giant example, if the failure wasn't caused by forty minutes of accumulated electrical damage, but by waves of high-energy particles arriving in 40-minute intervals. The Sen pilot may want to investigate the source of the particles, but she'll need an engineer's solution for her ship first. Furthermore, an Orion crew member may think to ask, "If these particles are wrecking our equipment, what are they doing to our bodies?"
Miners, engineers, scientists, and doctors all writing their personal chapters in a larger, authentic, and connected story.

How to configure MGID Widgets and earn money with Native Ads
Founded in 2008, MGID has become a market leader in the native advertising space, boasting over 185 billion ad impressions every month. While native advertising is its core offering, MGID also offers various ad formats that seamlessly integrate into your website's layout. These include in-content units, sidebar placements, header or footer options, mobile-specific formats and push ads. Choose the ones that best suit your website's design and user experience.
Native advertising is a type of paid advertising in which the ad matches the design and behavior of the platform where they appear. By blending into their environment, a native ad seems like another piece of editorial content, making them less disruptive than traditional ad formats and more likely to be noticed and clicked on. Native ads can appear in various locations on publisher sites, in promoted search results, or as sponsored posts on social media channels like Facebook or TikTok.
In order to create a widget with MGID and monetize your website with Native Ads, first of all you need to head over to their publisher page and create an account: Sign up in MGID as a Publisher
Once logged into your dashboard, go to the Publisher tab and click on the Add Widget button. Choose the most appropriate option in every field, such as Type, Size, Columns, Rows or Theme.
Some of the widgets available for publishers include:
Under-article widget - the main widget that shows the best performance on most of the websites.
In-article widget - this is also one of the most popular widgets. The main subtype usually has more clicks than other subtypes, however, the results depend on many factors and have to be discussed individually.
Smart widget - the alternative to the under-article widget. High CTR, great user engagement, and many other advantages will prove the widget to be one of the best.
Header widget - this widget was created for the header placement. May cause random clicks if used on websites with mostly mobile traffic.
Sidebar widget - is placed in the sidebar of the website. On the mobile version, it is moved to the bottom of the page, so it is better to use Sidebar on websites with mostly desktop traffic.
Mobile site widget - was created only for the mobile version of the website. May cause random clicks.
On-site notifications - the widget looks like Push notifications on the website. The capping and number of notifications can be set manually. Showed a good visibility rate and quite high CTR.
Then, just save the widget, copy the generated code and select where on your website you want the MGID ads to appear. MGID offers a placement tool to help you visualize ad placement.
That’s all! Your native ads will start showing in your chosen web space and start generating revenue (remember that ads can take up to 30 minutes to show). When you have accumulated the minimum amount of $100 as a publisher, you can request payment via Paypal or bank transfer.
If you need more info about this Native Ad Network, you can also find some helpful resources online, including tutorials and Reviews:

Introducing VITURE Pro – Enjoy UltraClarity™ With No Blurry Edges!
It’s time for an upgrade. Our latest generation of cutting-edge XR technology is here: introducing VITURE Pro XR Glasses, the VITURE Pro Mobile Dock, and the VITURE x 8BitDo Ulimate C Bluetooth Controller!
https://preview.redd.it/mhuj8mnqss1d1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea4a2741e03e94ff632ab948744b5217e8d2fd08
Together, these three redefine our XR ecosystem by making it more immersive, sharable, and engaging than ever before.
https://preview.redd.it/spatpmd6qt1d1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a26d9cbe20b3259eae7e298d522df636ede25a0d
Bigger, Better, Brighter: Experience A Display Like No Other!

VITURE Pro XR Glasses mark the beginning of a new era of XR.
Their 135” full-HD UltraClarity™ display (more on UltraClarity™ in a moment) dwarfs VITURE One’s already-impressive 120” virtual display, adding a felt 15” of additional space for all your favorite games, movies, and even work tasks.
https://preview.redd.it/q4ovdmiods1d1.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e002f4a6deebb1869ff10216debc903d2496e019
And at 120Hz, VITURE Pro’s refresh rate is double that of VITURE One — a big step up that makes this display ideal for fast-paced games and feeling like you’re part of the action!
https://preview.redd.it/6jmfwm2nds1d1.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76b8833a624d37a87de56a8b366cbdb9f10400c5
With a peak brightness of 4000 nits (perceived at 1000 nits), VITURE Pro XR Glasses are also the brightest on the market, a 120% increase over VITURE One’s 1800 nit display. But don’t worry, we’ve kept your eye comfort in mind too: VITURE Pro XR Glasses are A+ certified by SGS to cause less eye strain than your phone screen or even traditional computer monitors (like the one you might be reading this on now).
https://preview.redd.it/hwcvs0xlds1d1.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e7558835f571d5d57a382af5685cb003fe8a4d6
UltraClarity™ & UltraFreedom™ — Total Privacy With No Blurry Edges
But in addition to technical improvements made since our last generation, there’s something else that makes VITURE Pro a display like no other: UltraClarity™.

UltraClarity™ means anti-glare, anti-ghost, anti-motion sickness, and edge-to-edge clarity across the display, so even small text in the corner of a video game HUD is easy to read (also great for using VITURE Pro for productivity). And with enhancements to our XR glasses’ electrochromic film, you can now block nearly 100% of external light at the touch of a button — perfect visual immersion, no lens shade needed.

And of course, VITURE Pro’s display is adjustable for myopic users, just as VITURE One – but they’re the first XR glasses to do so on the latest Sony micro OLED display! All part of our new UltraClarity™ visual experience, exclusively on VITURE Pro.
https://preview.redd.it/yvy960bdds1d1.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb165700710076d630763bf532767d9809d14bb5
Oh, and let’s not forget UltraFreedom™: on VITURE Pro, no visible content can be seen from outside the glasses. Paired with our HARMAN-engineered reverse sound field, that means 360-degree privacy, keeping you fully immersed AND fully incognito!

An Improved Co-op Experience
Like so many things, an experience like VITURE Pro’s is best when shared, and the new VITURE Pro Mobile Dock makes that easier than ever!
The slimmer redesigned Pro Mobile Dock is now compatible with all HDMI & USB-C inputs AND all USB-C outputs — mix and match VITURE One and VITURE Pro, or even connect and share your screen on external USB-C monitors or other display glasses.

It will fit in perfectly with the rest of your XR arsenal!
The VITURE x 8BitDo Ultimate C Bluetooth Controller is capable of both wired and Bluetooth connectivity, and with 6-axis gyro motion controls, responsive rumble, and enhanced digital triggers engineered for precision, it’s ideal for both solo and co-op play.
We've even thrown in anti-interference shielding so your input won't be affected by other wireless devices, up to 16 hours of battery life to keep you in the game (480mAh), and wake-on-shake to get you logged on faster.

The VITURE Pro Collection is the best of everything — our latest effort in bringing our users the best XR experience possible, a series of cutting-edge next-gen hardware to match the fully-featured software we’ve been so hard at work on (SpaceWalker is better than ever on VITURE Pro).
VITURE Pro is available directly from our website, and for a limited time you can get the VITURE x 8BitDo controller free when you buy VITURE Pro XR Glasses & the VITURE Pro Mobile Dock! 2024.05.21 13:45 RollinNowhere Is anything meant to happen, narratively, in this game?

I've played for 50 hours now. And I've spent my time slowly working up through the various ships, floating around in the rings mining and having a lovely chill time. I've enjoyed the simple gameplay loop and it's been nice just sinking some hours into ore collection to unwind.
But, well, nothing has happened. Or at least, not much.
The things that my crewmembers have requested are: time off to pursue a music career, but it doesn't seem that that leads to anything. They haven't resigned to go pro, it hasn't unlocked any new music, we haven't encountered any fans. Another couple of my crew want me to find people, there was one who was lost on a ship somewhere in space and another who just seems to have a dialogue option to ask about this person to everyone we meet. But the answer is always no. But nothing seems to be happening with them.
I'm frequently threatened by other ships for being in their territory, sometimes I use my crewmembers who knows them and nothing happens, other times I ignore them, and nothing happens, sometimes I respond aggressively, and nothing happens. Nothing ever happens. A couple of times I've just attacked someone to see if anything happens - they fight back for a second, then try to run away. If I let them escape nothing happens, if I chase them, destroy them, capture and sell their life pod... guess what? Nothing happens.
In my 50 hours here's what has happened other than mining and selling:
That last one gave me hope, but in the 10 hours since nothing else has happened and I have no leads to follow.
Just... what am I meant to be doing? I talk to most people I come across, none of it leads to anything. I've flown around deep into the rings and nothing changes.
I still like the game for it's relaxed mining gameplay, but it feels like there's meant to be other stuff going on. Stories and encounters. There's lots of warning about space combat. There's talk on here of people having "mining configurations" contrasted against other ship layouts to do other things... but what are these other things? I have found none of them.

2024.05.21 13:39 mike_anderson0 Thesis vs. Dissertation: Understanding the Key Differences

Below are some pointers that show the difference between a thesis and a dissertation, also how it works.
Objective: The thesis is written for a Master's level of degree. Whereby, the thesis exhibits the student's understanding of the area and its ability to conduct the study. Whereas, the dissertation is mainly drafted for the PhD level of degree. Its vital aim is to deliver knowledge to the area through original solutions.
Range: The thesis report mainly focuses on a particular question or rectifies the problems within the individual’s field of research based on the prevailed investigation. Whereas, the dissertation process involves a more detailed and in-depth study offering the student to enhance and develop new hypotheses.
Length and Difficulties: The thesis is usually shorter dealing between 60-100 pages while following a proper format. Which includes a review of literature and technologies with conclusions. Whereas, the Dissertation is a lengthy process that ranges more than 200 pages and includes a detailed study of all the areas that the basic layout has.
Study Originality: The Thesis help involves investigating the existing study to aid the clients’ difficulties and endings. Whereas the dissertation process outsources the original study and adds new research to the institutional point of view.
Result: The thesis is a prosperous completion that marks the awarding of a Master's level thereby highlighting the mastery of a particular zone of research. Whereas, the dissertation service is a completion of the individual PhD degree, which states that the student is capable of making a solo study and serving their hands towards any field.

2024.05.21 13:30 Ishika2337 The 10 Best Movies Coming to Apple TV+ in May 2024

Apple TV+ is one of the strangest streamers out there, with almost no licensed TV or film content and a small number of originals. That makes the best movies on Apple TV+ easy to find. There simply aren’t that many! Apple is clearly taking a “quality over quantity” approach, with its money spread across genres and targeted at making its subscribers (many roped in with a deal that came with one of the company’s tech products) treat it like a real contender. It also helps that it’s only $4.99 a month, or free for a year if you’ve just purchased a new (and eligible) device.
With films from up-and-comers like Minhal Baig, arthouse favorites like Sofia Coppola and Werner Herzog, some A-list music docs, one of the best animated movies of the 2020s and Martin Scorsese’s latest, Apple TV+ is actually making the case that it belongs in the conversation alongside the more established services. As long as it keeps adding good movies to its roster, that is. It recently snagged a few critical darlings like Killers of the Flower Moon and Wolfwalkers.

10. The Pigeon Tunnel

For a documentary about one of the most celebrated writers of spy fiction, The Pigeon Tunnel can seem—at first glance—deceptively placid. Clocking in at just over 90 minutes, the film features an extended conversation between David Cornwell, AKA John le Carre, and Oscar-winning docmaker Errol Morris. It’s just that. Two people talking, with Morris off-screen, their parrying question-and-answers broken up with archival images and re-enactments of Cornwell’s past, as well as snippets from the classic movies or TV adaptations based on his spy universe: The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and A Perfect Spy.

9. Hala

Writedirector Minhal Baig’s Hala is an intimate coming-of-age drama held up by its personal writerly touches and a star-making turn from Geraldine Viswanathan as the title character. Hala’s struggling with the same kinds of things we normally see high school characters struggle with: What to do after graduation, how to manage a relationship with her parents that’s not quite adult and not quite childish, and (of course) boys. Viswanathan’s understated quiet and the warmth in which the situations are shot (almost always centered on her face)—be they at a family dinner or a walk in a Chicago park or a reading of a high school English assignment—make the dramatic ricochet of Hala’s minor rebellion rattle us all the harder.

8. Boys State

The tendency to read too much into Boys State as a representative of American politics—contemporary, functional, broken and otherwise—doesn’t quite line up with the event itself, in which every year the American Legion sponsors a sort of mock government sleepaway camp in Texas for high school boys (girls get a similar program of their own), where attendees join parties, run for office, craft platforms, run campaigns, hold debates, then ultimately exercise their right to vote.

7. On the Rocks

Sofia Coppola’s new movie On the Rocks starts out as a story of possessive fatherhood, with Felix (Bill Murray) narrating to his teenage daughter, Laura: “And remember, don’t give your heart to any boys. You are mine until you get married. Then you’re still mine.” The girl laughs off the declaration as a jape, which turns out to be a catastrophic tactical mistake. In her womanhood, Laura (Rashida Jones), does indeed get married to a man, Dean (Marlon Wayans), and they have two beautiful daughters of their own, eldest Maya (Liyanna Muscat) and youngest Theo (Alexandra Mary Reimer).

6. Bruce Springsteen’s Letter to You

The black-and-white behind-the-scenes documentary accompaniment to Bruce Springsteen’s album of the same name, Bruce Springsteen’s Letter to You is a beautiful and companionable tour through the music and its making from an American master. Director Thom Zimny buys into the album’s concept, which focuses on just how long Springsteen’s been at this thing. Poignant juxtaposition with archival footage and pictures emphasizes just how long the E Streeters have been at this—and reminds us of who and what was lost along the way.
Also Read: The Last Duel

5. Fireball: Visitors from Darker Worlds

Werner Herzog will show you multiple clips from Mimi Leader’s Deep Impact for no other reason than because he likes them, he finds them well-done and evocative—he says as much in that even-keeled, oddly accented voice over—then soon after chastise “film school doctrine” when complimenting a field video shot by a South Korean meteor specialist in Antarctica. Like Nomad: In the Footsteps of Bruce Chatwin, his documentary from earlier in the year, Fireball (co-directed with Clive Oppenheimer, with whom he made 2016’s Into the Inferno) is less about what it’s about (meteorites, shooting stars, cosmic debris—and the people who love them) than it is about Werner Herzog’s life, which is his filmography, which is a heavily manipulated search for ultimate truth.

4. CODA

Sometimes a movie so successfully plunges you into its world that it completely engulfs you in a lived-in experience. From the gorgeous, scenic opening moments of CODA, you can almost smell the Atlantic salt air and pungent scent of the daily catch. The movie transports you to Gloucester, Massachusetts and lovingly drops you into the life of one family. Seventeen-year-old Ruby Rossi (Emilia Jones) is what the title of the movie refers to—a child of deaf adults.

3. A Charlie Brown Christmas

We could get into plenty of arguments over which Charlie Brown animated special is best, but A Charlie Brown Christmas is my favorite pull of the bunch. Charlie Brown’s confrontation with the Christmas season’s commercialism (back in 1965 no less) and a sad little fir tree make this a cartoon classic, as the ultimate funny-pages shlimazel suffers endless social indignities (no Christmas cards) and the holiday blues.

2. Wolfwalkers

Wolfwalkers is filmmaker and animator Tomm Moore’s latest project out of Cartoon Saloon, the animation studio he co-founded in 1999 with Paul Young, and the capper to his loosely bound Irish folklore trilogy (begun with 2009’s The Secret of Kells and continued with 2014’s Song of the Sea). At first blush, the film appears burdened with too much in mind—chiefly thoughts on everything from English colonialism to earnest portraiture of Irish myths, the keystones of Moore’s storytelling for the last decade.

1. Killers of the Flower Moon

Martin Scorsese has made a career telling stories that tackle issues of justice, retribution and betrayal. From his overt and poetic crime films, through to his dark comedies, religious parables and character pieces, he has long been drawn to stories where the ambiguities of life collide with the complexities of survival, and where day-to-day choices result in consequences sometimes obvious, and sometimes far more subtle and insidious.

  1. Get More Organic Traffic Through Search Engine Optimization (SEO):
There are many free SEO tools and resources available online. Utilize relevant keywords throughout your website content to improve search engine ranking and attract organic traffic.
  1. Develop a Content Marketing Strategy:
Creating valuable and informative content establishes you as an authority in your field. Blog posts, social media content, infographics, or even videos can all be powerful tools to engage your audience.
  1. Become a Social Media Powerhouse:
Social media platforms offer a fantastic (and often free) way to connect with potential and existing customers. Regularly share engaging content, participate in relevant conversations, and leverage social media features to GROW YOUR ONLINE COMMUNITY.
  1. Target the Right Social Networks:
Identify which social media platforms your target audience frequents most. Focus your efforts there to maximize your reach and engagement.
  1. Convert Abandoning Website Visitors into Customers:
Many visitors may leave your website without making a purchase. Utilize retargeting tools or exit-intent pop-ups to encourage them to return and complete a desired action.
  1. Consider an Affiliate Program:
Partner with other businesses in your niche to promote each other's products or services. This is a great way to expand your reach and attract new customers without extra marketing spend.
  1. Utilize Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising Strategically:
While PPC advertising can be paid, it allows you to target your ideal audience very precisely. Start with a small budget and carefully track your results to optimize your campaigns for maximum return on investment (ROI).
  1. Harness the Power of Social Proof:
Customer testimonials, reviews, and case studies build trust and credibility. Encourage satisfied customers to leave positive feedback and showcase them on your website and social media.
  1. Create a Sense of Urgency with FOMO (Fear of Missing Out):
Limited-time offers, exclusive discounts, or early access promotions can create a sense of urgency and encourage website visitors to take action.
  1. Make Sure Your Website is Mobile-Friendly:
With the increasing use of smartphones and tablets, a mobile-responsive website is no longer optional. Ensure your website offers a seamless experience on all devices.
  1. Claim Your Free Google My Business Listing:
Increase your local visibility by creating a free Google My Business listing. This allows potential customers to easily find your business information and reviews online.
By implementing these strategies consistently, you can GROW YOUR BUSINESS ONLINE and achieve significant results without a hefty budget. Remember, GROWTH takes time and effort, but with the right approach, you can establish a strong online presence that fuels your success well into the future
