Pink and black flower

Hi! Looking for the name of the pink tree alien looking plant someone had in their camp. I can’t find anything on the wiki so I think it may have been from the atomic shop but I’m not sure. It looks like a plant from the alien invaders event and it’s in a flower pot. Thanks!

Been broken up for 2 weeks now, been down in the dumps pretty much since... until today. Today I feel like I regained control over my emotions and I'm actually starting to look at things more positively. I don't know what changed... but feels like god intervened here and said "hey, you're not what your ex has made you out to be. You're a good person with a big heart and will find someone better one day"
For context my ex gf of 3 years dumped me, and basically since then has gaslit me to no end every conversation I've tried to have with her since. She said I never bought her gifts, the last action I made towards her was buy her flowers and I was still broken up with a few hours later.
Today I found out she posted things on her story talking down on my name. Mind you she's the one that abruptly dumped me. I presume this girls trying to make herself feel less guilty for ending things in a catastrophic way, by bringing up things I did wrong during the relationship, which I apologized profusely for immediately after they happened and she forgave countless times. Did someone say "guilt tripping?"
So today I've started the process of forgetting about this black mark in my love life, by filling my mind with positive thoughts on the whole situation. I'm excited to meet the next girl, wherever she may be. Everything happens for a reason, but im done losing sleep over someone who could give two and a half fucks about how I feel. If it's one thing I can tell ya'll about moving forward after a breakup, don't allow yourself to be treated way less than the way you deserve. It'll help your mental sanity much better than anything else can... and If they can't, someone else will. Cheers!

I remember the plot was about a male MC who became part of the harem of an undead empress in the afterlife. (She was literally a skeleton) I don’t remember the plot, but I remember that the main character had black hair and purple eyes, with two wings in his hair. (One above each ear)

I ordered a couple of bottles from Aroma Passions along with their sampler. Here are my thoughts.
Almost all of the fragrances start with a strong chemical smell. It caught me a bit off guard, but still not as bad as the Dua's I have tried.
The best
Blooming - Dupe for FlowerBomb This dried down to a delicate fragrance that is more powdery than the original but still nice
Bittersweet - Dupe for Tom Ford's Bitter Peach - This kept a peachy smell throughout the dry down. It did not last as long as the original and was more peach smelling but still, I liked it.
Irresistible - Dupe for Black Opium - This starts with a strong chemical smell but the dry down is surprisingly soft and feminine.
Naughty - Dupe for Carolina Hererra's Good Girl - This one I liked the most- It started strongly with that chemical smell but the dry down softer fragrance lasted quite a bit and it had the sweet gourmand notes I like.
Meh - These just were not close enough to the original or were not a fragrance I would like to wear because the notes seem a bit off

Power - Dupe for Creed Advantus for Her - I am no fan of the original but this was not close enough and the notes seemed to not blend well at all. It does have a strong projection like the original though.

So I've just learned of Robinson's Requiem and its sequel - Deus) - from the 90's. Played a bit of RR, it's kinda sci-fi, but not too much, at least not the early game. I was exploring the wilderness, killed some guy, found some kind of crash site, explored it, then something killed me. Good times! First person, crunchy 90's graphics, I like it. The controls are dated - mostly mouse-centered, 90's CRPG controls, with an interactions menu taking up half the screen - and you can't seem to turn while moving, but I haven't played it enough yet, so maybe it's not as bad as it feels. I only wish there were some kind of way to improve graphics, because they're too crunchy even for my tastes (and I don't generally mind crunchy graphics).
Another early survival sim is Wilderness: A Survival Adventure, from the mid-80's. Apparently, it was made for the Atari and IBM PCs, so graphics are all blue, black, and pink. Have yet to play it.
And of course there's UnReal World, which is probably the best know survival sim out there, 'cept it's top-down\ menu based, and leans pretty heavily on Finnish mythology\ folklore.
Got any other old survival sim suggestions?

I remember really loving a book I found in the teen section of my library back in about 2004. It was a collection of eerie/odd short stories that read like modern dark fairy tales. I vaguely remember the cover had a flower like a daisy, but in the center was an eyeball, and I think the background had teal and pink in the color scheme. Two of the stories really stick out in my mind (even if I can barely remember the plots):
The first was a girl looking to lose weight who had an enchanted mirror to help her. It would direct her to wear a different colored dress and then cut out foods of that color, it goes on cycling through the different colors as she wastes away and is eventually only allowed to have water (no color) and her different dress-clad reflections attempt to pull her into the mirror.
The second was a dark love story where a girl living under the thumb of her abusive/controlling mother has the sense that something important is missing. I THINK the title may have had "tower" in the name. As the days go by, she is frequented by a crow/raven. I remember one scene where she wakes from a nightmare/memory to find black feathers on her windowsill that "left red streaks on her fingers" (I remember they used those words specifically). Eventually, she remembers he is actually her lover, transformed into a bird by her mother who disapproved of their relationship. I can't remember how, but she's able to restore his human form and they leave the tower together.

Ok I (37m) need help with ideas/problem solving. My wife (35f) is expecting our second child in October. First is about to turn 3. Both were via IVF and we thrilled. Hormones are understandably elevated and we have families close on both sides.
In the past she’s mentioned not really enjoying Mother’s Day as always feels like it’s shared with her and my mom. I’ve talked to my mom about this and planned a Mother’s Day to help her with yard work and dinner a few weeks after Mother’s Day but will still get her something and call her on the day obviously. Her family I have a harder time setting those boundaries and she doesn’t want to feel selfish so she already agreed to have her family over. Midwest farm family so it’s not going to be a short visit.
After she agreed she said off hand “it’s fine, I’ve resigned myself to never getting a Mother’s Day as that’s just what it (not being put first) means to be a mom”
Ouch. The resigned, masked sadness didn’t go unnoticed. So I was thinking of spending Saturday and planning a whole day for her. Problem is she doesn’t really want time away from our son, maybe for her birthday or anniversary but not mother’s day weekend. So what are some things we could do with a 3 year old that Saturday? She likes thrifting/garage sales, crafting, shopping. Anything else kinda seems more kid oriented like going to the zoo or something. Plus our toddler naps from 1-3 or 4, and bed by 7:30. She sleeps in til 8 usually so window is 8-1pm, and realistically 4:30-7pm. Maybe thrifting, brunch, then pedicures after as our son likes his nails painted? Then nap and get babysitter for dinner or cook something nice at home?
As far as gift ideas, was planning on buying and installing a cute shelf she has wanted in our cubby nook for better organization. A more expensive surprise is painting the front of our house (it’s white with pink, just pink replaced with a green and not much surface area, so fairly cheap). Figured I could hire someone to do it but have to know exact color and short notice might be hard to schedule without her knowing. She’s already done spring planting and I’ve gotten her just because flowers 3 times in the last few months. Still looking for wrapped gifts to physically give her, any ideas?
We have an anniversary trip planned the week after Mother’s Day which includes beach and spa services, so that’s out. And she’s already done some shopping for it, but maybe not all.

Hi! I grew up in the Bible Belt, went to church twice a week from birth until I moved out of my parents’ house at 22. When I moved out, I lost the desire to go to Church and I stopped. Honestly, I had lost it long before then but I still went to church just to appease my parents. I never truly “enjoyed” church. I found it incredibly boring and I basically tuned out every service. It was impossible to pay attention to. I also started having some questions about the entire religion. I did a lot of research and found a lot of contradictions in the Bible and found out so many that are huge hypocrites and the most judgmental people on the planet were the ones in the front row pew every Sunday. I became very bitter about that and just kind of lost respect for religion as a whole. It got worse when my younger sister came out as gay and my grandparents stopped talking to her. Then they found out I was living with my boyfriend (without being married) and they pretty much stopped talking to me too. I just had a bad experience and it left me a little resentful.
I never wanted to stop believing in God though. I hope with everything in me that there is a Heaven and life beyond this. I believe God works things out for those who worship him. My boyfriend recently found a church he really likes and is becoming a member of. I started going with him as well, and while I still find it sort of boring and tend to zone out, I’m better than I used to be. I try to pray when I can or listen to a short sermon otw to work or something sometimes. Anything I can to be a better Christian.
My concern is for the past few years, I have been utterly fascinated with new age, “witchy” things. I find astrology super interesting, and also pretty accurate a lot of times. I find crystals interesting; I have purchased a few and while I don’t necessarily believe that they’re a “cure all”, if I want to be more confident and wearing carnelian around my neck helps me achieve that, is that really hurting anyone or going against a religion? I understand not practicing magic or anything because God’s will should come first. But if I want to burn a little incense to help unwind/meditate, wear a few magic rocks, or plant a few herbs/flowers around my house for protection/good luck, am I going to hell? As long as there’s a line somewhere is the main thing, right? I’m just worried I’m a failure and God hates me for liking the things I like, I feel like a good Christian shouldn’t like these things, but here I am. I’ve always liked the aesthetic of moons, stars, and black cats. I like visiting cities like New Orleans, Salem, and Savannah, and learning about their paranormal history. I like reading biographies about Marie Laveau and Stevie Nicks. It all makes me so happy and I find it more interesting than anything in the Bible I’ve ever read and I feel awful about it. Can the two really be that different? Can they be so different that they’re not even relevant to each other at all? I’m just seeking some perspective/clarity is all! Thanks!

Charlie is starting to hate Camp Half Blood. She misses her home, she misses her grandparents if Charlise wasn't here with her she would have already left. The Arason girl has become the definition of homesick over the past few weeks. But would she ever tell anyone that? No, Charlie wouldn't.
So when a Job comes up to clean up cabin two, Charlie decides to scribble her name underneath the sign up sheet and forget about it for a week or two. After a reminder from Charlise, the twin grabs an armful of cleaning supplies from the Hermes Cabin bathroom and wanders around till she finds the graffiti.
Charlie smiles at the mass of graffiti, the mess of spray paint with crude drawings and even cruder words makes her heart flutter with familiarity. The fish market where Charlie spent the majority of her childhood, was always littered in graffiti whether it be remarks to vendors or mindless drawings from the twins. Charlie however lucked out and wasn’t the one to clean it up back home, that was her grandmother and the Charlises job.
Picking up a large sponge Charlie began to swipe away at “PAN 4EVER,”. Just because camp reminded the girl of home didn’t mean she liked it here, no reminders would compare to being with her grandparents again. As she began to swipe away at a flower drawing a horrible thought dawned upon the girl. Mindlessly raising a hand to her now healed facial scar Charlie wondered what her grandparents' reactions would be to the scar.
Charlie didn't even know if they would be able to react to the girl's scar. Charlise certainly didn't like it, it would take a long time before Charlie was able to forget the look on Charlise, Bailey and Orion’s face when they first saw it. With the flower gone and the girl's arms notably sorer than before, Charlie leaned against the cabin and took a few deep breaths.
She wondered if Hera could have demigod kids? Probably, maybe cleaning her cabin would make her want to claim her kids. Charlie looked around at the rest of the cabins, out of all of them Charlie liked number 24 the most, it reminded the girl of her home back in Iceland.
“Helvíti!” Charlie cursed, no more letting camp remind you of home, the girl declared as she began to get back to cleaning. Charlie hated the way camp reminded her of home. She didn't want to be here, she wanted to be at her grandparents' fish market reeking of cod and having to eat her dinner outside with her grandfather so she wouldn't stink up her grandmother's kitchen.
With the scribbles of Ancient Greek gone, Charlie moved on to the final piece of art on the Hera cabin. The large and frankly ugly portrait of whom Charlie could only assume is the Goddess herself. Charlie began scrubbing at the hot pink spray paint and tried her hardest to not be reminded of home. She regretted everything she had done in the past few weeks, she could have been better for Charlise, she could have left cabin, she could have protected her grandparents-
Charlie was done. She quickly finished cleaning the cabin and hastily returned the supplies to the Hermes cabin. Charlise was nowhere to be found so the girl followed the crowd of campers and made her way to the dining pavilion. She meant to ask the counselor if they knew what she should do once done with the job, but it seemed Charlie had other things on her mind this night.

Until now I've only seen it on social media but its making me sick. Every time I go on instagram or TikTok I see someone talk about that men are logical creatures and the doers and women are emotional and need to be pretty and soft. Which is such a bullshit!
First of all every human being no matter the gender has feminine and maskuline energy and needs both. Yes some are more feminine and some are more maskuline but that has nothing to do with the gender.

1. Feminine and maskuline are just the western words for ying and yang.
   
2. yes men and women are not the same and I'm sure there are things that are neurologically different about us as well. but a lot of it has also to do how we are socially trained and taught.
   
3. women are proven to be better leaders and less easily influenced than men.
   

If we talk now specifically about feminine energy, because apparently if you're not a soft flower feminine woman who glitters under the sun like a twilight vampire then there's something wrong with you. Feminine energy also means chaos, being organized and have you're it girl planner and everything all the time is maskuline energy (Yang). Feminine energy is like the moon and the female cycle, its a cycle. there are phases for everything.
Now let's talk about me. I do love glitter, I do love pink, I do like girly things, I like childlike things. But I also am a good leader, can make rational decisions even if I'm in an emotional situation, I am discipline.
Now I am more a girly girl but when I was a minor I was very tomboyish and that was just how I was and I wouldn't have wanted myself any other way. But I just felt so unaccepted in my girlhood and it hurts my inner child that there are people who really think you're not a real woman if you're not this soft flower. Because there is one thing I never managed to be even if I tried, being soft. I'm rough and straight forward and I love myself that way.
So if you're a girl or a woman who doesn't feel woman enough, you're woman enough just like you are.

Tracy looked out through the trees and up to the sky. There was silence all around them in the small woods. Because of course there was silence all around them. There always was.
Everything knew to stay hidden. Even when they were in their human form.
She took a deep breath. She’d always loved it out here. The quiet sounds of the countryside were addictive. Sure she could hear the occasional car moving off in the distance on the highway, but that was far enough that they weren’t a concern.
She smiled. At least they weren’t a concern unless the family decided to make it their concern.
“I don’t know about this,” Jason said, hitting her with a nervous glance.
Irritation rose in her. Jason should be listening to her. The idiot had always gone along with whatever she said, but that had been changing as they got older. As he got ideas about the way he thought the world was supposed to work, even if it was never going to work that way if she had anything to say about it.
The fact that he was out here at all tonight was proof enough of that. She didn’t want him out here with her. Both because she didn’t trust him, and because…
She tried to ignore the way he looked at her. That wasn’t the way someone should look at his cousin. Even if it was the way the family had done things for so long.
Keep it in the pack. She shivered.
Still. It was useful to have him around for certain tasks, so she put up with it. Even tonight.
“I didn’t ask you to come out here with me,” she hissed. “So you’d better do what I say if you know what’s good for you. We’re not leaving.”
She looked off to the south. There was a mile of cornfield in between the woods and the small cul-de-sac that led to a larger neighborhood that was set off from the rest of the city proper. Though she snorted when she heard people calling it a city. As though a town that small deserved that name. It had been a fun romp through the countryside to get out here. Sure it wasn’t quite dark yet, but they were good at avoiding unwanted attention.
Even if it was easier in winter when the night lasted much longer. Or a month from now when the corn stalks were high enough they could almost walk at their full height without anyone seeing them.
Still. It was safe enough to come out here. The place was mostly cornfields and the occasional wooded area that marked the boundary between properties. It’s not like they were going to run into anyone out here.
And if they had, they could’ve just given them a wide berth. She hated doing that, but sometimes stealth was better than making a fuss. At least as long as the old man was calling the shots.
“I don’t understand why you’re so interested in this Craig asshole anyway,” Jason said, and there was a hint of annoyance there.
She hit him with an annoyed look of her own. She didn’t need that tone from him. There was something there that was almost dangerous, though she didn’t think he’d dare do anything if she didn’t want him to.
Jason thought she belonged to him, and all he had to do was wait long enough.
She shuddered. No. That wasn’t going to happen. Stupid family and their stupid rules. She wasn’t going to play by those rules. She wasn’t going to let them dictate her future.
Even if that meant she had to do a little underhanded bullshit to try and dictate her own future.
“Why I’m interested in ‘this Craig asshole’ is none of your business,” she said, staring at the spot where Craig had disappeared back across the cornfield.
He was tall and broad shouldered. She licked her lips thinking about him. The way he’d turned and looked at the woods there at the end almost made her think he knew they were in here.
Almost, but they’d been good about hiding. Nobody could find them if they didn’t want to be found. She did a little twirl and turned back towards Craig’s house. She was in a bright pink skirt and a tank top. She could feel Jason’s eyes on her. It felt disgusting, but he was a useful idiot.
Again, she’d do anything to keep him out of her future. At least out of her future in the way he thought he’d be there. Up to and including putting up with his bullshit if it meant keeping him in line tonight.
If everything went well then…
“What if it is my business?” he said.
She whirled back around on him.
“So what are you going to do, you big idiot?” she growled at him, allowing her eyes to flash. “Are you going to go talk to the old man?”
“Maybe I am,” he said, his hands flexing at his side.
“Oh yeah,” she said, rolling her eyes. “I’m sure he’d be so happy about the two of us being out here. Especially after what happened with Brad and Carrie.”
“That was all you, damn it,” he said.
She cocked her head and grinned. “Oh yeah. Like you didn’t have anything to do with it. Like you didn’t enjoy yourself.”
The moon hung over the field bright and full, but still low to the ground. She could change anytime she wanted once it was in the sky, but the closer to the full moon, the more she felt the call.
The darker it was, the more powerful the call. The more she felt its power. Felt the white light pulsing like ice through her veins. Calling to her. Whispering to her. Telling her it was time.
It wouldn’t be long now. She didn’t want to resist tonight. She let out an involuntary shiver and looked over her shoulder.
Sure enough, Jason was right there like a little lost puppy. Not that she ever thought there was any real doubt he’d run off and talk to the old man. He’d be in as much trouble as her.
She reached out and ran a hand along the cornstalks. She didn’t think anyone could see them now. Not unless somebody from the neighborhood had a pair of high-powered binoculars or a telescope, but why would they be looking out at the woods?
Not to mention she was far enough back in the shadows under the trees that she didn’t think anyone would be able to see even if they did have binoculars.
Besides. This whole place was their territory, and she didn’t fear anything. Not even stupid Jason.
She could remember a time, back when she was very young, when she’d been afraid to go out into the fields when the stalks were high. When she’d been terrified of the way they loomed over everything. Blotting out the light during the day and turning everything pitch black at night.
That was before she realized she was the thing that lurked in the darkness. That there wasn’t anything else lurking in that darkness that she should fear.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She could sense all the life out there. Small creatures moving through the woods that shied away from her.
She wondered if those things would’ve shied away from her if she was mortal, or if that only happened because those things knew what she was and desperately wanted to avoid her.
“I still think this is a stupid idea hanging out here,” Jason said from behind her, making his opinion known even though she gave less than a fuck about anything he thought. “He’s going to be pissed off if he finds out.”
Tracy wasn’t sure if he was talking about Craig or the old man. Not that she gave a fuck.
“The old man won’t have a choice if this works out,” Tracy said, rounding on Jason and pressing a finger into his chest.
“Ouch,” he said, a low growl coming from deep in his chest as he looked down at her.
She followed his gaze down. Her fingernail had turned to a claw and there was hair sprouting from her palms. The transformation was already starting. Sometimes she couldn’t help it when she got really mad.
“That fucking hurt,” he said, reaching out and grabbing her wrist.
His grip was hard. Almost to the point of pain. Though she didn’t give him the satisfaction of letting on that it hurt. He could go fuck himself if he thought he was going to intimidate her with that shit.
“Let go of me, Jason,” she said.
“Why?” he asked, his face turning to a cruel smile as his eyes gleamed. “I’ve got you all alone out in the woods. I think you’ve been avoiding this for far too long. I don’t know what the fuck you’re planning or how the old man won’t have a choice, but it’s time to stop playing with your new toy and understand how the world works.”
His voice was starting to change. And not in the way it did when his balls finally dropped a few years ago.
He leaned in closer, grinning at her in the twilight under the trees. And in that faint light she could see his teeth growing longer.
She made a disgusted noise in the back of her throat. As always, his breath smelled disgusting. She was pretty sure that was because he only brushed his teeth when his mom reminded him, and not anything to do with the transformation.
Though they would have a horrible dog breath by the morning if the night went well. That was just one of those things about the transformation that couldn’t be avoided.
“I said let go of me,” she said, her own voice a low growl that should’ve been a warning to the asshole.
If it was a warning then it wasn’t one he was taking to heart. He moved in even closer, moving one hand around her back and pulling her against him. She felt his hardness pressing against her, and she made another disgusted noise in the back of her throat.
“I don’t know why you need to come out here to moon over that asshole anyway,” Jason said, his voice an even lower growl now. His nose was starting to press out almost as much as his cock pressing against her. Fur sprouted from all around as his eyes turned a deep yellow.
“You sound like a fucking idiot when you talk like that,” she growled back at him. “Nobody moons over somebody these days.”
“Says you,” he said, looking up to the moon that barely filtered through the trees all around them. “I think it’s appropriate. You’re going out under the full moon to moon over some asshole you don’t have a chance with.”
Her growl got even lower. “What makes you think I don’t have a chance with him?”
Jason turned back to her. He was taller. So was she, though not quite as tall even when she’d transformed. It rankled at her that the men were so much larger. It wasn’t fair.
“Maybe you would have a chance with him if you weren’t a part of the family. Everyone wants to get with Tracy Talbot, right?” he said. “But they don’t know you’re mine. You have been ever since we were born. None of them can have you. Ever. That’s why I had to show that Brad asshole who was boss.”
His grip grew tighter and tighter. She didn’t show the pain, but she did feel annoyed. And she thought of a scene from a movie she’d thought was pretty damn funny, even if her aunt and uncle didn’t think it was all that funny and they made her turn it off.
Something about not wanting to watch a horror movie, for all that it was clearly for kids. Fucking idiots. It was a movie about a bunch of kids fighting monsters, and it gave her an idea right now. Jason’s clothes were splitting as his muscles grew larger. As his body rose to well above his normal five foot ten, though that didn’t stop him from telling everyone he was over six feet tall.
She was changing, too. The moon’s power filled her, for all that it was still weak this early in the evening. For all that the beast still wouldn’t come out to play totally until the darkness had fallen completely and the moon was the brightest light filling the sky.
Still. She had some power, and she used that power as she brought her knee up between Jason’s legs.
His grip disappeared in an instant. He let out a noise that was somewhere between a growl and a whimper as his clawed hands moved down between his legs. It looked like he might fall over, but instead his head rose and he let out a mournful howl.
Shit. She didn’t need him letting out mournful howls. The whole point of what they were doing tonight was to try and keep from attracting attention so she could get Craig. So she could turn him before the family really started trying to push her towards Jason.
Not that she told Jason any of that. She’d already said too much tonight, for all that he was too stupid to read between the lines.
She knew Craig would probably come out to these woods again. Honestly she hadn’t expected him to come out here early. It almost threw everything off. Maybe it would throw everything off considering it had set Jason off.
He almost always came out here on nights when he had his friend over, that nerdy Josh kid. They always came out and played in these woods. She knew because she’d been watching from the shadows a few times. Always careful not to be seen.
It was cute. Everything about Craig was cute. Or hot. Definitely the opposite of Brad. Or Jason, who glowered at her with glowing yellow eyes that were filled with murder.
“You need to shut the fuck up,” she hissed.
Jason hit her with a baleful look full of hatred.
“Why did you do that?” he growled.
“Wolfman’s got nards,” she said, grinning at him. It was a toothy grin with dripping fangs as her own snout pressed out.
Maybe she wasn’t quite as large as the men when she transformed, but that didn’t change the fact that she was plenty big on her own. More than enough to take on anyone who wasn’t part of the family. That was for damn sure.
More than enough to take on most people in the family, too. Maybe not the old man, but she was always more than a match for stupid Jason.
“You’re going to fucking regret that, bitch,” he growled, and he launched himself at her.
She was ready. She stepped to the side, and Jason went flying through the trees. They rustled with his passage, moving to a gentle wind that wasn’t there.
Even in the middle of a fight, even when it was Jason, they didn’t make much noise.
She’d often wondered what it must feel like for the mortals. Hearing that rustling. Maybe sensing something that wasn’t quite right. The scent of a predator that shouldn’t exist around here seeing as how all the big stuff had been run off at least a hundred years ago, if not longer.
Only there were nastier things lurking out in the corn and the woods than the bears or wolves that had been killed or run off long ago.
Jason’s eyes glowed in the darkness. Meanwhile she stood to her full height. Which had her reaching the lower branches. He launched at her, but she stepped aside again. He landed and went tumbling around and around.
Tracy snorted. He never had been good at this.
“Hold still, bitch!” he said.
“Okay, Freddy,” she said, rolling her eyes.
“What the fuck are you talking about?” he asked.
“You’re always calling me bitch,” she said. “I mean I know you have claws, but that’s a totally different movie.”
He growled and threw himself at her again. Those were more movies her aunt and uncle didn’t let her watch, but she always snuck them. Mostly by getting them from friends at school and watching them late at night when her aunt and uncle were asleep. Or when they were out on the prowl. Or sometimes just watching them at sleepovers.
Never on the night of a full moon, though. It annoyed her some of the parties she’d missed because of that.
Jason landed again, sliding through the dirt and undergrowth. He wheeled around on her.
“Fucking hold still!”
“I’m sorry,” she said. “That’s the only way you’re ever going to be able to get with a woman, isn’t it?”
“Fuck you!”
“You never will.”
He launched through the air again, his claws out as he rocketed towards her. Only this time she didn’t step to the side. No. She ducked down at the last moment and brought her fist up into his gut.
She heard a crack as he went flying again, only this time it wasn’t nearly as graceful a landing as the other times. Which was saying something considering he wasn’t particularly graceful under the best of circumstances.
When he came up this time around he had a hand at his side, letting out a low whimper as he stared at her. All the fight had gone out of him in an instant.
“What the fuck was that for?” he asked.
“You know exactly what the fuck that was for,” she said, getting down on all fours and moving over to him. She held herself over him, though probably not in the way he’d been hoping she’d hold herself over him. She glared down at him, her eyes glowing a deathly yellow. Her teeth were close to his neck, and he flinched away.
Not that he could flinch very far. It’s not like he had anywhere to go.
“Fine,” he said, looking away from her. “You want to watch this stupid human? We’ll hang out here and watch this stupid human.”
“You didn’t have to come out here,” she said.
“I did,” he growled. “This human is never going to be a part of the pack.”
Mild panic rose in Tracy. She always spent so much time assuming Jason was a fucking idiot that it surprised her when he actually came close to figuring something out.
“That’s not your choice to make, Jason.”
“It’s not your choice to make either. The old man is going to kill you when he finds out what you’re planning.”
“What am I planning, Jason?”
He blinked, and then looked away. She didn’t let out a relieved sigh, but only because that would make it obvious there was something she didn’t want him to know.
“That’s what I thought. And I’m going to kill you if you don’t go along with whatever I decide to do tonight. So you’d better stop and think about whether you want to live for the next couple of days, or for the next five minutes.”
“Fucking bitch,” he said, still glaring up at her.
She pulled away, watching for any sign he was about to try something. But he stayed where he was.
Good. She stood to her full height, looming over him. She lifted her head and sniffed at the late summer evening.
It wouldn’t be long before school started. This would be her last year, but she had plenty to look forward to. Games and dances, but mostly she was looking forward to the football. Mostly she was looking forward to seeing Craig do his thing out on the field.
He had it where it counted. That’s what had drawn her to him. That and how incredible he looked when he hit her with one of those easy-going smiles. Kind of shy, but there also seemed to be an invitation there.
She was the older woman. Of course he would want her. She was queen bitch at that school. The only problem was he wasn’t part of the family.
Yet. The football team was going to go all the way to state this year if she had anything to say about it. She’d make sure of that with the gifts she was about to give him.
“Being out here is a stupid fucking idea,” Jason muttered.
“I don’t recall giving a fuck what you think about anything,” Tracy said, glaring at him. “And I think all you really need to do is play along with whatever I tell you to do, right? Or do I need to teach you a lesson again?”
Jason held a hand up to his neck. Like he was thinking about how close her teeth had been. It wasn’t normal for the family to fight with each other, but it also wasn’t out of the ordinary. Though usually it was the men fighting for supremacy.
She growled at that. Bunch of old fossils thinking the old ways were the best. Well she was going to show them. She wasn’t going to live in a world where she was forced to stay at home and take care of the little ones and make the perfect dinners for all the family gatherings where she was expected to serve the men before she went back to the kitchen to spend hours cleaning up. That was her idea of a personal hell.
Though there was something about the way Jason looked at her. Something that seemed off.
Ominous.
As though he was planning something. Jason was a big enough idiot that it was obvious when he was planning something.
“Come on,” she said, turning and heading deeper into the woods. Not that they could go all that deep without reaching a cornfield on the other side.
She shivered. She heard Jason crashing through the woods behind her, as though he didn’t care about getting caught. The asshole. This was why she didn’t want him coming with her in the first place.
One day he was going to get in trouble, or maybe even killed, but it’s not like everybody out there was walking around with a camera or anything to catch him when he wasn’t being careful.
It was bad enough that there were plenty of idiots walking around with guns. A bunch of people walking around with a camera would be a real nightmare for people like them.
Still. He would bear watching tonight. She couldn’t shake the feeling he was up to something, and that it wasn’t something she would like or approve of.
