With inventory being so low this past year, a home has come on my radar that’s in our budget (and our budget is on the low-end for our county).
It’s a 2br 1ba 850sq ft. home built in the 1930s that we will have to fix up a lot of. The garage looks very DIY, it doesn’t even have a proper kitchen, and is all kinda janky ngl🤣 but beggars can’t be choosers in this market lol. I recently thought we were priced out of this county tbh until I found this house; the catch is, the property also has an old antiques building on the other end. So instead of a backyard there’s the shop in the back facing a main road. The old antique shop has no parking (probably why it went under, there’s no where for customers to park) and it’s maybe a 900 sqft structure up against the city sidewalk. They don’t count the sq footage in the sale because it’s red-tagged by the city meaning it needs complete renovation and permits etc. I’d basically have to save up and fix the building overtime and down the road.
To help paint a picture of the area, the main road is not in the safest area but the city is improving each year for the better; it’s near things like nail salons, car repair stores, strip mall, pizza shops etc. and that main street runs through a neighborhood of both homes and rental apartments.
The creative ADHD side of me is like woah cool that could be a bookstore, or studio or an office or I could rent it out as a shop or something if I fixed it up🤩 and the practical side of me is like that’s a big gamble and commitment and you want kids someday and that’s not even a neighborhood environment for them😳 on one hand it seems kinda cool to fix up overtime and it could generate income eventually, but on the other that’s a huge commitment to get to that point. I’m also guessing the home would be hard to resell as it’s currently sat on the market for months as one of the lowest priced lots in our county and still not sold😅.
This was definitely not on my bingo card when looking for a home🤣🤔 What would you do? After a year-and-a-half of looking we do want to move, so if something doesn’t work out soon we plan to move out-of-state rather than forcing this location.

 | I'm new to the world of E-Scooters and I gotta tell you it's like a whole new dimension for me. It started simply enough, just last week I was going for a morning sunrise walk with my cup of coffee. This time I decided to go to a new park. Before last week I had never heard of the company. Tbh I hadn't heard or seen much about E-Scooters period, especially for rent. So I approached the parking area for a closer inspection. I saw a QR code, scanned it, downloaded the app, and before I knew it I was pushing off into the future. This is the first time since I was about 8 or 9 even getting on a scooter. And that was far from electric. I'm amazed at how quickly I took to it. In no time I was going down hills, exploring parts of the city I would normally drive past. Most of all feeling like a kid again. Smiling from ear to ear like a goof with the wind blowing on my face while I enjoy gliding in the open air. This was all in the first 20 minutes of scanning the QR code. The LIME app was easy to use, but the whole thing is limited only to one downtown area. I want to take it almost everywhere so I started researching the world of electric scooters. Which brands are the best, the best range, best safety features, speed, weight, tires etc. The one I landed on was the Circooter 800W Mate. Now I know for you pros out there you can probably find a million and a half reasons as to why this one sucks. But for what I'm looking for right now as a beginner, this is a perfect starter scooter for me. Besides I wanted to take advantage of a sale. I'm a big guy so I need some extra support. This thing is much more than I need. So if I have the need to buy something with some weight while commuting, I know I'll be more than covered. I also wanted a decent range and speed and this has it. Although I hear the ride isn't as smooth because of the tires. The plus side is that these don't need to be filled like the regular tires. It also folds quite easy and the display looks cool and is easy to read. Not sure if any of you are interested in this post but I don't know anyone around me who is even remotely interested in E-Scooters. Just wanted to share my little journey here. I'm 20 years old and my girlfriend is 19 years old we just went to a Hyundai dealership 1 week ago to look at a 2024 Elantra N. This is one of her dream cars a car I've been hearing about for over a year. And a car we both had our eye's on so we wanted to test drive it. The Salesman was practically chattering his teeth along with higher staff I assume because it was taking a while to get in the car. But after running my girlfriends credit and filling out a form of information they let's go on a test drive down the street and back. The Sales Manager comes into the dealer behind us ultimately trying to negotiate a sale without even introducing himself as a Sale Manager. I had to read this title on his name tag. This Sales Manager made my girlfriend extremely uncomfortable by saying comeback with "daddy so he can help you get this car." This Sales Manager went on saying this about 10 times repetitively leading with "daddy" in different phrases. Some examples that he said are "talk to daddy when you get home so you can get this" , "beg daddy for the car and he will help his girl", "daddy loves his girl and will spoil you". "I'll talk number with daddy bring him in here." "Give daddy a big hug when you see him" I was about to blow steam out my ears. This guy was a full on weirdo let me tell you. The Sales Manager also goes on to demonstrate how she should persuade her dad into getting her this car by giving a salesman a long hug infront of us.

The Salesman In a uneasy kind of tone also asked the Sales Manager why is he hugging him. The Sales Manager goes on saying "well I didn't want to hug her in front of him" as in ( Me her boyfriend) and the result of that would of lead this guy to a very bad day. This Sales Manager is in his mid to late 50s I assume. A real oddball kind of guy we both had a serious bad feeling about him. The Sales Manager finally disappeares after this with a last comment saying "comeback with daddy so we can talk some numbers." Speaking to my girlfriend as he walks away. We then were lead to a desk with a salesman to get a ballpark number on the Elantra N and the car was marked up 3k over msrp + taxes as a market adjustment charge. I was ready to leave the dealer after what just happened screw the car at this point. The result of this happening caused us to leave the dealer. This situation has really bothered my girlfriend to the point were she was balling her eyes out that someone would speak to her this way and that she couldn't say anything about it because she was extremely uncomfortable.This Sales Manager didn't even acknowledge that we might be able to pay for this car out right if we really wanted to. He just assumed we couldn't because we are younger which is unacceptable. We never went back nor plan to but this has really effected my girlfriend and me to this day. So me and a few friends (who we’ll name John, Jake, and Jim) had planned to go to a nearby Lake to kayak. Me and John dont own Kayaks whereas Jake has 2 kayaks and Jim has one, which was no problem to any of us; Only meant two of us had to share. Me John and Jake go back a few years whereas Jim is a new friend we’ve been trying to hang out with more. We get to the lake, setup, and I, Jake and Jim decide to go out on the water while John decides to stay on shore and chill with our stuff. Of course we leave our phones on shore so we go kayaking on the lake and i return to switch with John after about 20/25 minutes. Upon switching, i end up hangin out chillin for about an hour met a cool dude who traded a can of coke i had for a couple hot dogs and stuff. I end up giving Jim a call on his cell (cause they were out of line-of-sight for a while) thinking he might have his phone on him (which he did) and he comes back to switch with me and let me paddle some. Maybe 30 minutes later i switch back with Jim cause Jake’s fishing line got caught towards the lake floor so we had Jim cut him free. That process takes ab 20 minutes and im on the shore on FT with my cousin in the meantime. Towards the end of the FT call (around 6:10 +-5min), Jake pulls up to switch with me while John and Jim start paddling to a different part of the lake about 3/4 a football field away but still within eyesight. I ask Jake “why not let me switch with John?” and Jake responds with “Because you guys have never kayaked before, ive done it a million times it’s alright!” So i hang up my FT call and follow Jim and John. around 6:37pm (i know the time because Jim brought a GoPro with him which can tell time and his phone) we see Jake pacing up and down the shore and we hear angry yelling coming from the shore, something like “GET YALLS ASSES OVER HERE!” us being confused, im the first to go and as im approaching Jake he’s asking me “why bro?” and i respond with “what do you mean?” and he proceeds to claim that we left him there for over an hour and a half and that we left him there with no communication even tho we remained within eyesight. I tell him that it hasnt been nearly an hour and a half and i proceed to assist him with packing his two kayaks up because he was eager to leave without explanation. By the time we’re done i get a hold of my phone and confirm he wasnt sitting there for longer than 45 minutes. He says in that case hes sorry and if im still mad about it he gets it. Later he claims his anxiety went up when sitting by himself and he thought people were staring and laughing at him because he was sitting up there “for so long” at this point John doesnt wanna mess with Jake at all and Jim was more confused than anything whereas im befuddled and didnt appreciate getting embarrased at the lake nor yelled at from the other side of the lake just because. The lack of explanation in the moment obviously made it worst but the explanation doesnt excuse it either.

It works now after a technician came out and put 3lbs of refrigerant in it, but he highly recommended that I replace the system before the winter given the condition it's in. We do rely on the heat pump exclusively for heating and cooling so we've tried to be proactive about it and generated some quotes. As way of background, I live in a 1700 sq ft two story townhouse in North Carolina. The air handler is in the attic so it's a bit hard to get to. All of the companies below were highly rated. I did like how professional company A and B were. Company C came at a recommendation, but no one ever came out to our place, they just generated a quote based on company D's description of the work.
