EDITORIAL - Our War, Everyone's War.
Irishkaiser - While in a cat cafe in Milan, I had a rather intense conversation with Majicou regarding the states of our worlds. It was like a scene from the turbulent times in Europe such as the Enlightenment, the Revolution, the Spring of Nations... Learned and concerned men discussing the times. Except we were surrounded by cats... And the gayoids...
Majicou had insisted that nobody there understands English, so we continued on with our heavy conversation, invoking the name of great powers, great orders and great ideas.
I had noticed that the chatter behind us died down and I was sure people were listening to what we were saying... But he STILL INSISTED NOBODY UNDERSTOOD ENGLISH.
I had policed my words because I was in TIF territory... I was sure they were gonna jump me... Especially this one fucking cat that gave me the stink-eye...
We had discussed about the state of our nations and the character of people today. The general consensus of course was that we are unworthy of our ancestors, and that our futures look rather grim.
I had adopted the more callous outlook and stated that it is better to grit our teeth and go through with the suffering in order to secure the better future.
Majicou stated that some people cannot take that suffering anymore and it is wrong and somewhat too much to keep asking people to suffer more when they have been betrayed by their governments and promises time and time again.
He had a point. When will the demands stop?
But the greater threat of a totalitarian socialist power was ever looming. We cannot even afford a stalemate with them. Because even if a conflict with RedChina is inconclusive, I fear we will begin to adopt their methods and lose our way of life to compete with them. I have no doubt of our victory and the superiority of a society that values freedom... But many people will learn from the Communists... And adopt their god-awful way of life, same as they adopted our strengths to make themselves stronger.
What's worse... Is what would happen if they win?
It was a difficult question as we both had different priorities. I concentrated on looking to the people after we secured victory. Majicou wondered if victory would matter if there is nothing worth defending in the first place.
While a product has a fixed value upon its completion, people are dynamic. A person with good work conditions and good tools and good pay can churn out something worth more than he is even paid for.
These are difficult, turbulent times. We have to balance maintaining the standards of today in order to ensure that it will be better tomorrow.

Ok so I got my credential in California almost 3 years ago. I have been working in the same district the last 2 years teaching high school English. I knew from the start of this year that I was not happy in this district and wanted to work on getting out. I started applying about a month ago and today I found out I got an interview for a middle school ELA position in a really amazing (and notoriously hard to get into) district. I am so excited but also so nervous, so I am seeking advice for-

1. Interview basics. The teaching jobs I interviewed for when I first got my credential did interviews over Zoom; so I have never gone to an in person teacher interview. What should I bring?
   
2. What should I say to convince them I would do well in middle school when my experience is only in high school?
   
3. I am going to have to miss work for this interview but I am out of sick leave for the year. What should I put for my leave reason?
   
4. Advice on how to nail this interview. What should I highlight, what questions should I ask, and what things have you done in the past that made you stand out?

Husband and I are 29 years old. Together for 15 years married for 4.
We have 3 kids, 8, 5, and 1.This is mostly regarding our oldest, who is 8.
So he’s not the best with teachers and likes to belittle them I think. Like our son brought his iPod to school (my old iPhone without service) and the teacher took it and had us pick it up and he told the teacher “dont take his phone, it’s not yours to take. Ask him to put it away and if it’s really an issue you can call me or his mother and we’ll deal with it but don’t take my things from my son” and then they argued a bit and finally she agreed if it happened again she’ll call his parents.
Then recently he got in trouble in class for disrupting the class (he threw a paper ball at another kid and then got a detention) and we weren’t informed. So when my husband and I went to pick him up the teacher said we had to wait 20 minutes because he’s in detention and he said “uh, yeah no I’m just gonna pick him up now” and she said “you’re more than welcome to after his detention” and he said “who do you think you are telling me when and were I pick up my son?” And i apologized on his behalf and told him to knock it off and he said “no, do I tell you what to teach? No. So how about you be the teacher and I’ll be the parent. You can teach him math and English and I’ll discipline him.” And she said it’s school policy and he was in there with another kid so husband just walked into the classroom and said “hey buddy, let’s go” and son said “I can’t” and he said “you’re going to serve your detention at home” and we left and the teacher just smiled and was clearly pissed.
To be completely fair, he was in trouble at home. Husband told him he needs to show his teacher respect and we took away his iPod and Xbox for the evening, and then we had him apologize to her the next morning.
On top of that, he doesn’t set a great example. He acts like a kid. I thought it was cute and funny when we were like 15 but now it’s worrisome because our kids are watching.
We were back to school shopping at the Nike store and there was a football and he looked at our son and said “hey buddy watch this” and threw it at a manican and the store worker said he had to go and he said “haha…yeah no I’m gonna stay” and I was so angry and embarrassed I just left and apologized to the worker.
Another time we were at lunch and there was a guy across the restaurant wearing a rather interesting outfit and he looked at our son and pointed to the guy and said “look at that dumbass over there. I bet he ordered a blt or some gay ass shit like that” annd they both laughed and I said “seriously??” And he shrugged and said “he probably did” and when we got home I told him how completely inappropriate that was.
And then on Saturday morning our son was playing madden on his Xbox with someone online (a random match) and he was losing so husband took over and started winning and the guy threw an interception so husband said on the mic “nice throw, f_ggot” and then won the game and called the guy a loser.
Normally I wouldn’t care, because that’s kinda what you need to expect when playing a game online, but saying those things in front of our son really upset me and I told him again in private I’m NOT ok with that.
I’m glad our son looks up to dad that much, and aside from being a little immature he’s an amazing dad and husband, but this kind of stuff really upsets me.

Well it all started in October 2022 I took a course that really did not help me much, it was like the summary of the official videos of council, in short, I let the time pass about 6 months, and then I bought the elite package, the tryhackme membership, you know you buy everything feeling that the more you buy the more you are going to know and no hahahahahahaa, well I started with the council videos but they bored me and when I read the example questions of the modules I did not understand where they got their questions or rather how to answer them because the council videos are very summarized, I got discouraged by it and I let it pass, I preferred to practice in tryhackme because I felt that the theory was costing me, I finished until the path of pentester, but I did not follow it anymore (I consider that at this moment I had the best possible knowledge to pass it), but again I got discouraged and I let time pass, finally a month and a half ago I set the date of my exam (because my voucher was going to expire) I started to read the book of council officer and I understood everything, it is worth mentioning that I do not speak English natively, I consider that my level is a B1/2, in short, on Saturday I took the exam and I passed it.
Also a little about myself, I have worked in different financial institutions in cloud roles (AWS, GCP, Azure), telecommunications (VPN, VDI, Appstream) and internal control of technology.
Summary, of what I would recommend to my past self:
1.- Don't let more time pass (Set a date and take the exam, don't move it).
2.- The official videos I consider that do not help, or classroom courses do not help, at least for me, since it is a lot of info that each one must understand it at their own pace.
3.- The official book of council will help you to pass it (there are not so many pages, it brings many screenshots, algorithms or blanks, imagine I translated some complete modules).
4.-If you bought the elite package as you finish a module of the book practice doing the partial exams (Elite Package Resource/EXAM PREPARATION), the exams of that platform (*topics) also help a lot .
In 1 month I am going to take the CEH practical and I will practice with tryhackme networks among other machines that I find, let's see how it goes.
I hope my experience will be helpful and I wish you all success.

Hello. My nickname is Axun5. I have been playing Dota for almost 7 years. I’m from CZ and in CZ Dota 2 isn’t verry popular here. So, I have been playing for almost 7 years solo queue and its starting to be verry boring. I’m enjoying playing Soft Support but if necessary, I can play Hard Support. I once hit Ancient 1 because I was playing pos 1/3, but I really want to switch to Supports… So, I switched… But after that I can’t anymore win game by my own. So I start losing and I ended up in Legend 2 :( I’m very sad about it because I think I have big potential but I find myself in support role. 2nd team plays all the English Cup and FA Cup games or if I have multiple games in a week. Me and my boyfriend have been dating for a little less under a year. For 4 of those months me and him have been living with his mom, and his siblings besides his older brother. I have a great relationship with his family which I’m grateful for.
Our boundary in the relationship is that we do not hang out 1 on 1 with the opposite sex. Which is fair to me.
Now, this morning I walked over from our apartment to his mom’s, since he is at work all day. His mom didn’t have to go to her job until 1 PM.
His younger brothers went out, and his older brother was doing his own thing in his room. I decided to wait at his mom’s house for his younger sister to play softball later after she is done with school.
Now, he texted me that he is incredibly uncomfortable that I’m at his mother’s house with his older brother 1 on 1 and that I should have left as soon as I was isolated with him. I left the house as soon as he said that. I didn’t want to upset him at all, I didn’t want to cross his boundary at all. He is so upset with me that he is currently giving me the silent treatment.
He said that I wouldn’t be okay if he hung out with my girl cousin without my knowledge and that I would know after the fact. When I said that I don’t mind that when it is family he said that I’m just saying that to justify my actions. He said that he knows I am not perfect but that he is super bothered by me. Mind you, his brother was doing his own thing, he came in the living room and we had small talk about his kids and about my brothers and about his brothers and then I left the house
I would’ve never went if I knew it would make my man upset. I see his family as my family and yes I don’t know his older brother as well as I do the others since he used to live somewhere else, but I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal because of the fact that it is family. When I explained this to my boyfriend he said that it’s alarming that I didn’t think this through.
I am so upset with myself. I love and respect my boyfriend so much, I would never do anything to hurt him or disrespect him, but I know now that I crossed a boundary.
I’m a very anxious person and English isn’t my first language so when I am anxious I get nervous and then I black out. I don’t want him to confront me when he gets home later and then me crying because I feel overwhelmed. I don’t want him to think that I feel like a victim, because I am not. I just want him to know the boundary will never ever be crossed again.
Can someone give me some advice on how to handle this? What can I say to him that will not break his trust or calm him down in a sense?

So it was my first day at my new job today, and I was partnered up with a man in his 60's which in and of itself is of course fine. About an hour or so in and totally out of the blue he brings up the fact his son is gay, and that he initially rejected him for it. I (29, f) am bisexual and so naturally felt pretty uncomfortable knowing this information, though I suppose I'd rather know than not know.
He did say he has since accepted his son, to which I could only think that he's lucky his son forgave him for his initial reaction - which involved throwing him out of the house.
This (VERY one sided) conversation then mutated into his telling me that he just "doesn't understand" all "this gender nonsense".
Of course.
This was all entirely unprompted as 1) he was talking at me, not having a conversation, and 2) I was trying not to engage. A couple of my closest friends are non binary and I'm a trans ally through and through. I explained this to him and also explained that you don't have to understand something to respect that it exists and is valid. I don't understand astrophysics but I'm not going to spend all day whingeing about it and claiming its a lie people are simply making up to get attention.
He claimed to want to understand it, but no one has explained it to him. As if there aren't resources out there which are as easy to access as Facebook (which he of course uses). To me this doesn't suggest a curious mind, simply a confrontational one who wants to challenge rather than change.
I've been dwelling on it a little, and I think that it's interesting that the generation who accuse younger people of laziness are the ones who choose to remain ignorant by refusing to do a simple Google search. Which they will then proudly admit to in the workplace.
Along side this, most of my colleagues do not speak English as their first language and have accents. He mimics some of their accents while speaking to them and/or will speak in that super slow dumbed down way, which is just so gross and patronising.
To top it all off we had a meeting at the end of the shift to discuss the "core values" of the company which included respect and inclusivity. The irony is not lost on me.
The whole day just made me cringe.

"Yes," this book answers. "But how long as it been since you felt hatred?"

The book squints. I wonder how it can do that since it has no eyes.

I feel like I should start this post by exposing the three main points of it, to all of those who read and perhaps are not interested in yet another "BookTok has to be fucking insane to have hyped this" rant:

1. I picked up this book knowing it was bad.
2. I haven't finished it yet, because it is so bad.
3. I am struggling to finish it, because it is so bad.

If you have enjoyed this book, please tell me how to at least derive fun out of it. I am struggling immensely.
My problems with it:
a) Persephone can't even classify as a Mary Sue because I genuinely do not feel like she is good at anything. I apologie for any Mary's or Sue's reading this for even associating yall's name with such a character. The character is so one dimensional that she is deserving of merely one name. To honor the incosistency in writing, I shall be inconsistent myself, and refuse to choose one. Sue is suffering from the greatest case of Mary, but in the direction of pure incompetency. Theresa so far flip-flops from cutesy, virginal goddess who's super shy and not like other girls, to a 2014 girl's interpretation of what a badass woman looks and acts like.
b) This one dimension-ness is shared by all characters so far.
c) I have stumbled upon fanfiction more eloquent and consistent in the "Crack" tag. Christ on a hike, is the writing bad.
I have not even reached one (1) page where la pieceh delah resistanceh* which are the "intimate" scenes of book but the scenes of "excitedness" from Persephone are so childishly written and baffling that I am DREADING them.
You may ask:
"Why keep reading then? Sounds like you hate it and will take nothing from it."
I shall borrow the points format from above.

1. My parents did not raise a coward (on purpose), but they did raise me stubborn.
2. I hate the idea that a grouping of words is so bad that it overpowers me like so.
3. I feel like it'll work like a vaccine and innoculate me from bad books here onwards. No more looking at the BookTok table, no matter the occasional pretty cover or much more accessible price point.

Please help. I want to finish this book. Suggestions on how to do it? Do I just gotta lock tf in? Do I pray to God? More than one, even? Do I get a glass of wine and get drunk whilst reading? Do I go to a secluded area where no humans are around for miles and simply scream as I read each word and turn each page?

Goals: Mostly "career", but also personal development. However, I am still doing unpaid, voluntary work as a programmer. I am maintaining multiple open source projects that are used all around the world, getting integrated into all sorts of infrastructure. And don't get me wrong here, I am not talking about "taking a break" or having a free time at the end of the day - those things would be totally fine! I think that we need some upgrades to this game

1. ET should give us new elite force Bismarck/Yamato with perk: +15 or 30% damage to other ships. It strange for me that we have tanks with similar perk but no ships. We know very well that naval battles in the game are long and imo those elite units like Yamato or bismarck can help us with this issue.
2. We need also new biography to F2P navy general: it could be for example Nimitz, Donitz or Reader and finally Yamamoto bc he would be very good on Akagi. Why ET doesn’t want to give us those things???

Org: Infinite Frontiers Inc. [SCIFINC]
Our Goal: We are looking to grow our roster by another 3-4 applicants.
The Breakdown: Intentionally not a huge Org. IFI is focused on promoting tighter online friendships and comradery to support our members in game goals. To that end, we are starting small and growing organically. Currently, our roster sits at 24 with about 10 actives at any given time and we would like to add a few more now that 3.23 has arrived. Our long-term vision will be to grow to around 25-30ish active citizens by 4.0 so that we have a solid roster to support each other. Longer term, we want to crew up and try more multiplayer shenanigans as CIG implements more and more things to do and game loops to explore.
The standard stuff:
Commitment: Casual atmosphere, with semi-regular frequency of play. Most of us are playing 1-3 times a week, some more, some less. Generally, there is someone online every night. Life comes first though. We have families, you have IRL obligations, we will never force commitment. We are in search of players who want to play 2 or more times a week, group up and enjoy what the game has to offer. We currently engage the entire org by use of scheduled monthly events (practice dog fighting, recruitment initiations, team based capture the ship events, etc.) and use Thursday evenings as our unofficial dedicated play night.
Age Requirements: 18+ and to keep it mature. Please no harassment, NSFW, racism, sexism, homophobia, hate speech or attacking of any kind. All we ask is that you be respectful to each other. We are primarily law-abiding citizens. No griefers or A$$hattery.
Specialization: None. We are here to try all game loops and support our fellow citizens in whatever they would like to accomplish. Bunkers, mining, medical, bounty hunting, exploring, salvaging, hauling, etc. Want to be a pilot, looking for a gunner? Hate flying but like the pew-pew? Want to group mine 10k rocks to extinction?
