Recently, by giant Sedona DS needs a new part. The only problem is that I cannot find any useful documentation on the bike or know the name of the part I need. I do, however know that the part connects the rear suspension to the frame, and I have circled where the part should go.

2024.05.14 03:03 Gothic_Nerd Antidepressant withdrawal symptoms

I (28F) have been struggling with anxiety and depression since my early 20s. I have been on and off various antidepressants. I also have ADHD.
I was on celexa from 2018-2019, on zoloft from 2020-2021 and finally I was on celexa again (20mg daily) from may 2023 to around mars of this year.
Whenever I take/stop taking medication, I usually feel a lot of side effects, with any medication I take. So when I gradually stopped taking celexa, tapering it down, I went through it all, sweating, dizziness, zaps to the brain, headaches, paresthesias, etc. Now its been 8 weeks that I have stopped taking them. I decided to stop them because I felt as though I did not need them anymore: I have a job that I love, a good social circle, studies that interest me, a partner that I love, my own place, I eat well and workout a lot. I feel like I am doing everything right.
But, twice, ever since I stopped, I have been getting these very sudden and very intense moments where I suddenly feel extremely depressed, sad, and apathetic to everything around me. It is so intense that in those moment I do not know what to do with myself. I am feeling a bit better today, it happened last night. I was playing my favourite video game, eating my diner and texting with my friends. All of the sudden, the food that I was having and found delicious disgusted me, so intensly I almost puked. I stopped eating immediately. The game I was playing suddenly felt unbearably boring, and I found my friends I was writting to suddenly annoying. It was as if the 'fun' part of my brain had shut down in a split second. These moments are extremely anxiety inducing.
Now, my Dr did mention to me that stopping antidepressants could result in a return of depression symptoms 3-6 months after stopping medication. But I dont know what he meant; is it that my depression is simply back? Or that this is part of the process of stopping them?
Have you experienced something similar? Thank you for your help

2024.05.14 02:55 disappointedbiscuit Opinion: Private Label Brands

This should probably be limited to just former Bed Bath employees.
We all know a big part of what did the original Bed Bath & Beyond in, post-covid, was the private label brands and lack of national brands.
But the Private Label Brands weren't all bad, right?
For those of us who worked there toward the end, I'm interested in your opinions.
Is there a private label brand you truly liked? If so, what was it and why?
I'll go first: I still use my Studio 3B towels I got on 50% off clearance, my Studio 3B electric soap dispenser, and a Studio 3B jersey knit (Pure Beech knockoff) comforter. So for me, it's Studio 3B.
Anyone else?

2024.05.14 02:48 Thin-Ad3743 I ended things with my FA.

I couldnt handle the constant gas lighting and dismissiveness and outright lying about her feelings anymore. Whenever things were good, she loved me but when she was triggered, she didnt want a committed relationship, her feelings werent as strong as mine and she didnt love me the same way i love her. She also caused her ex before me and i to have a falling out and blamed us for it. According to her i allowed him to trigger me but refuses to acknowledge that she hurt us both and she put us in the position. She kept downplaying our relationship like it wasnt all that deep. She stayed with me 4 nights a week, was incredibly affectionate and then once that got to be too much and i started wanting more, she flipped her avoidant switch. I attempted to give her space but we run in the same circles and are both involved in the music industry here so it was kinda hard not to run into her. Ive committed to focusing on my record label and the gym and not going out at all. If they arent willing to face their trauma and constantly gas light and minimize your relationship, pull away and cut communication. Ive been using an ai ap called “pi personal assistant” that works like a therapist to work out my feelings and keep from messaging all my hirt feelings to her.

2024.05.14 02:41 Pyroski The Midterms of 1848 and 1849 Pine & Liberty

The Midterms of 1848 and 1849 Pine & Liberty
In the final months of Daniel Webster's term, the economy, still reeling from the War of 1839 and the subsequent Panic of 1843, began a slow but steady recovery. William Lloyd Garrison, the incoming President who shattered the Federalists' grip on power, stepped into office with a bold agenda aimed at bolstering the economic upturn and lifting the nation's spirits. His initial flurry of legislative efforts included a proposed second bill of rights to prevent a repeat of the Sedition Acts, as well as measures to curb speech, the introduction of an equal rights and poll tax amendment, the reduction of the National Bank's influence, which Garrison branded as "corrupt" and "flawed," in favor of greater state control, and the full nationalization of the road industry. Congress has rejected every one of these, however, Garrison has managed to push through some reforms, such as removing Nathan Appleton as the bank's president in 1848, granting states more authority over monetary policies, the nonrenewal of the sedition acts, the District of Maine region's autonomy, imposing national limits on alcohol sales, and ban of the purchase of quantities over 16, and the ending of U.S. cooperation in the deportation of fugitives. However, widespread American fatigue over aggressive slavery policies, coupled with an indifferent Martin Van Buren administration, terms of the Treaty of Brussels, and interest in the settlement of new territories in the northwest, resulted in minimal diplomatic opposition to Garrison's fugitive policy.
Despite minor economic hiccups, trade has largely returned to its pre-war status as industries have stabilized. This was partly due to then-President Nathan Appleton raising interest rates in response to Garrison's funding cuts and minor currency instability resulting from the sudden influx of state control. Furthermore, despite Garrison's efforts to establish further independence from the increasingly close British empire by expanding trade with Haiti, Mexico, France, and the Netherlands, foreign investments, particularly by the British, in railroads and other industries continue, much to Garrison's chagrin.
Meanwhile, on the domestic front, with William Lloyd Garrison shepherding the more affluent Liberty party to adopt a more radical rhetoric against the establishment and secret societies as a whole, the Anti-Masonic party would see a sudden bleed of support, as several of its representatives switched their party affiliations in their 1846 and 1847 campaigns. This bleed would continue, as the party became Garrison's largest outsider ally on key legislative reforms, with Garrison championing the collapsing party's platform on issues such as poll tax and voting reforms, and fines for secret societies. By 1848, party officials would agree on a formal merge, as the remainder of party members switched over. As Temperance sentiment spreads far and wide across the nation, Natavist feelings soar to unprecedented heights; as Catholics and the Irish find themselves in the crosshairs of nativism, owing to stereotypes associating them with regular drinking and heavy alcohol consumption.

Federalist
Led by their esteemed leader, George Evans, federalists have undergone a significant transformation following a series of setbacks, including major electoral defeats to the oligarchy during the "Revolution of 1846" in both the Presidential and House races, and narrowly retaining control of the Senate. They distanced themselves from the still-sensitive Daniel Webster administration, and addressing concerns over his well-known alcoholism and allegations of sympathy to liquor, they adopted a more pronounced pro-temperance stance; with states such as Connecticut and New Hampshire, where they held sway over governorships and state legislatures, implementing stricter regulations. Moreover, although initially backing the Sedition Acts and playing key roles in its creation alongside Federalist President Noah Webster in 1827, most of the party shifted its stance by 1847, opposing its renewal. While Federalists have supported specific measures during the Garrison presidency, particularly those related to Temperance and opposition to the Sedition Acts, the party has emerged as Garrison's main opponent, leveraging their status as the second-largest party in the House and their majority in the Senate, to block much of his agenda. Notably, Massachusetts representative Nathaniel Briggs Borden, supported by the party establishment, spearheaded Federalist efforts to censure Garrison for his attempts to rein in the National Bank. Nonetheless, with the defense of the Law and Order party, Garrison managed to evade censure with a vote margin of 19-35. Nevertheless, leveraging their control in the Senate, Federalists effectively obstructed Garrison's legislative agenda, halting proposed cuts to national defense meant to prioritize funding for education and infrastructure, as outlined in Garrison's Bill of rights. Additionally, they stymied social reforms proposed by Garrison, including provisions in The Penitentiary Act of 1848 aimed at alleviating penalties for tax evasion, victims of the Sedition Acts, and Dorr sympathizers. Furthermore, they thwarted the full implementation of Garrison's Land Reform policy, which aimed to repurchase all lands acquired by foreign investors.
Despite defeats amid the "Revolution of 1846" and a party identity crisis, the glimmer of victory at the end of the tunnel, driven by opposition to Garrison and his efforts to dismantle the National Bank, has spurred party unity. Centering their campaign primarily on one issue: The National Bank, Federalists argue that Garrison's attempts to curtail it are unconstitutional, citing the 13th amendment which established a strong permanent bank, and criticizing his use of the spoils system, particularly Arthur Tappan's appointment as bank president in the wake of Appleton's removal. Opponents criticize Tappan as too inexperienced, highlighting his close friendship with Garrison and lack of a banking background, exacerbated by Appleton's own nearly decade-long experience as its president, to allege cronyism. On economics, Federalists campaign on reinstating Appleton; passing legislation to ensure the bank's stability; and the further federalizing of the bank to its pre-Garrison status. Cooperation with private industries in the construction of infrastructure, to limit government spending so that the nation may pay off the heavy debts sustained from a lengthy war on top of an economic depression. They also contest Garrison's efforts to distance New England's ties with British trade and investors, advocating instead for a stronger connection with other European Powers; They champion a return to a close-knit relationship, both diplomatically and economically, with Federalists emphasizing Britain, which contributed heavily to their independence and later the diplomatic resolution of the War of 1839, as their foremost ally.
This political cartoon, prominent during the Revolutionary War to depict Yankees as British loyalists, has regained popularity as a means to mock the Federalists' affection towards Britain and pro-British policies.
Liberty
Unseating the long-standing single-party rule of the Federalists during the Revolution of 1846, the Liberty Party stepped into the fray amidst a transformative era following a return to stability. Conceived by now-President William Lloyd Garrison under the influences of transcendentalism and liberty, advocating opposition to the government and support for limited intervention, it proved easier said than done to translate ideals into reality. Garrison eventually faced the stark reality upon assuming office, facing a slim majority in the House and a minority in the Senate, which forced him to navigate within the system, leaving much of his agenda in vain. Furthermore, Garrison's failure to pass equal rights and his proposed bill of rights has led inner-party critics, led by George Ripley, a Unitarian minister, and Henry David Thoreau, an author and former campaigner of Garrison, who has returned to civilization from his isolation in the forests of Massachusetts, to label Garrison as "corrupted" by political institutions. Other intra-party critics criticize his national restrictions on alcohol, attempts to block foreign business and investment, and fines for secret societies as further increasing the authority and scope of the government when the party's whole platform stood against it. Nonetheless, allies argue that his restrictions and expansion of executive power are necessary evils to tackle the root causes of societal issues and special interests and to promote the nation's independence while also supporting local businesses and industries.
Despite the emergence of splintering anti-Garrison factions, the Liberty Party has sought to navigate controversy by upholding the core tenets of Garrison's presidency. These include his cessation of collaboration with the U.S. on the deportation of fugitives from the Hudson-Greenway line; dismantling what Liberators perceive as a corrupt National Bank, and his instrumental role in achieving Statehood for the District of Maine after a struggle spanning over a decade, resulting in the creation of two new states: Maine and Bangor. In addition to championing Garrison's established agendas, the party endeavors to garner support for unfinished initiatives. These include proposals to expand the House's seats from 65 to 86, with each state gaining two more representatives than its electoral vote in the Electoral College, thus aiming to bolster representation. Furthermore, they advocate for Garrison's Second Bill of Rights, seeking to amend the constitution to ensure rights for all citizens and to federalize the poll tax to a reduced fee of $1.80. Additionally, they push for legislation aimed at diminishing the influence of Jewish bankers and investments, echoing Garrison's public condemnation of them as "the enemy of the people and Christ" and their purported "stranglehold over our nation's wealth."
The origin of the party name and of its followers, William Lloyd Garrison's \"The Liberator\" has remaiend infleuntial even despite Garrison's dpearture, with followers hanging the cover of the paper to show their support for the party.
Law and Order
Despite suffering heavy defeats amidst the Revolution of 1846 and Thomas Dorr's rebellion, the cornerstone of the party's creation, now relegated to the back burner of voters' minds, the Law and Order alliance of Farmers, Liberals, Traditionalists, and former Federalists and Nationalists finds itself in an awkward position. Larger parties such as the Federalists have adopted the centerpiece coalition's platform, such as the Federalists now championing calls for cooperation with the U.S. and moderate views on black and women's rights, while the Liberty Party advocates for limited government and a smaller national bank; Nonetheless, the Law and Order coalition has attempted to carve out a platform wedged between the two current party giants. Led by the party's House leader Robert C. Winthrop, the party has strongly emphasized its economic agenda, in a bid to set it apart from the two leading parties. They advocate for a limited National Bank, arguing for its scope to be restricted to essential sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and trade. Additionally, they propose limits on the money supply to maintain a stable bimetal gold and silver standard, advocate for increased transparency regarding bank loans, and impose requirements for loan eligibility. Moreover, emphasizing a limited federal government approach in favor of state control, they argue for allowing states to charter their own banks to a certain extent. They have also advocated for giving full control to the states to set their whiskey and alcohol policies, supporting government rollbacks on Garrison's national restrictions. Critics from the Law and Order faction lambaste Garrison for what they perceive as insufficient efforts to rein in the National Bank. Instead, they accuse him of employing the spoils system by appointing his friend, Arthur Tappan, whom many consider inexperienced, to oversee it, despite most of the party voting to replace Appleton with him. The party has argued for lower tariffs, contending that high tariffs disproportionately affect the nation's farmers while benefiting wealthy foreign and domestic investors and businesses; Additionally, they argue that lower tariffs would benefit consumer interests.
Championed by Winthrop and fellow prominent Law and Orderites, including Senator Franklin Pierce, former Governor Edward Everett, Representative Charles G. Atherton, Rhode Island speaker John Hopkins Clarke, and a now one-legged John Fairfield, the party has attempted to adopt a "Proclamation of Neutrality" regarding foreign policy, believing their strength could be achieved through trade and cordial relations with any country, regardless of past relations or tensions with the nation's ally states. Most notably, their support for this policy extends to the nation's most infamous and longstanding enemy, the United States, with whom the nation has fought two wars. Any attempts to reconcile have been further complicated after the election of vocal anti-Fugitive ally, William Lloyd Garrison, who halted Yankee cooperation in the retrieval and return of fugitives. Nevertheless, this faction, derisively labeled the "Doughfaces" by critics due to their perceived willingness to bend to U.S. interests argues that cooperation was necessary. They point to the provisions of the Treaty of Brussels and the agreed-upon reward for captured fugitives, whom they claim weren't even citizens of New England, that the U.S. agreed to pay; Which they contend as a necessary evil to tackle and settle the burdensome debts the nation has accumulated in recent years. In stark contrast, the "Firebrands," nicknamed as such due to the fearmongering that their support for Garrison's policy will spark a third crisis between the two bordering nations, are led by Representative John P. Hale of New Hampshire and Associate Justice Marcus Morton, the 1841 National Party nominee. Famously during a party meeting, Hale would passionately argue, "After witnessing the sacrifice of countless lives, the toll of significant casualties, the devastation wrought upon our infrastructure, and the profound scars etched upon our nation, it would be nothing short of tragic to discover ourselves entangled once more in the very predicament we endeavored to escape..." This sentiment has been echoed similarly by the rest of the Firebrands as they emerge as the top faction opposed to inner-party calls for cooperation with the United States.
\"DIPLOMATIC SCALES, a true balance\" a pro-Doughface political cartoon, contends through a smudge of humor, that the only way that the two nations, New England and the United States could remain in harmony is through compromise. Meanwhile, highlighting their role in the Treaty of Brussells and War of 1839, a man in the bottom-right conner, the personifcation of Britian interjects with his own oponions.

2024.05.14 02:30 RadioAppropriate141 May laban ba kami? (Corporate Law)

Namatay ang dad ko 5 years ago na ang nakalipas. He was the president of the company that time and when my dad dies my Tito immediately took over the company as we (my siblings) are not yet ready to fill in the position, some of us are still studying and new to the company. Pero that was 5 years ago na and sabi niya he will just fill the position until such time na ready na kami.
Fast forward to now, my sister already gained enough knowledge on how to run the business and my siblings have her support as they are also part of the company, my brother is the HR, and the other is the accountant and from their perspective naman they are now ready to fill in the position lalo pa’t halos sila naman na talaga nagpapatakbo ng company and that’s when chaos started in our family.
Tito insist that my dad have a loan in the company and in order to pay that loan his shares are now floating in the treasury for anyone from the company to buy. Most of these loans don’t have a label, some are trips related to the company and some of it are also personal on which we don’t argue.
For context my father’s company is a sale’s company on which they are importing equipment from an international company for construction.
With this infos, di namin alam kung may laban ba kami to counter yung loans as mentioned most of them ay walang label. You know how dirty as it is sa industry na ito, noong time pa ni Dad ay madalas siyang nagdadala ng big amount of cash to give sa mga procurement head or purchasing managers ng client in order for us to win the bidding sa golf course, sa resto sinasama niya pa kami noon when we’re young kaya we think some if not all of the loans without labels are “lagay”. Di namin alam ang next move namin kasi whenever he throw that argument to us we feel like they can just throw us away from the company anytime. No one in my family can buy back the shares of dad because it will cost us millions or should we just go with the flow para at least we have work and nasa higher position naman.
Thank you, we will also consult an atty once we can afford it.

2024.05.14 02:30 Rough-Boot9086 How to improve "leave/drop it"

I got my puppy at 10 weeks and began leave it from the beginning. She was doing well more than half the time as she got a little older. I live in a huge apartment complex wich is like it's own little neighborhood so I walk her around there every day. We have three little fenced in areas for dogs to run around so I'd take her but we have stray cats so she'd find cat poop if she started digging around in a corner and then wouldn't drop the poop so I had to stop taking her there. During our walks though, she'd see something on the ground, I'd say leave it and give her a slight tug and she'd keep walking. She also did pretty well in the house with leaving things, considering she was three months old. Now she's six months and listens less. I can't get her in the house because I have an open kitchen so she will run around in circles forever. If I feel she has a choking hazard, I'll put a high value treat right in her face but sometimes she'll keep chewing what she has. When she does leave it I always make sure to give her treats and a lot of praise because it's so important for their safety. I guess it's just part of puppiness ? She knows I have no problem sticking my hand in her mouth either. So she knows she can leave it, get praise and a treat or she can keep chewing the bottle cap, I stick my hands in her mouth and take it away and she gets nothing...

2024.05.14 02:30 redklouds I feeling lots of negative emotions towards partners mother negative pregnancy announcement

Hey gang - I don't know where to vent - so i'll vent here, I'm not sure if i'm in the wrong mindset. My partner (33F) is 14 weeks pregnant. (WOOT!) prior to this, we've been together for over 2 years. We both have been out of college and have about 7 YOE. I own my own home, my own cars, and we are both financially stable. We both agreed to start trying (if it happens it happens) 2 years into our relationship. we are both extremely excited about this next step in our life! I first told my brother and my parents. They both were even more excited than I, I loved it, I even have recordings of their reactions, it is beautiful. Then we decided to tell her mother and brother, granted, I've gotten really close with her brother, and her mother (we lived with them for 3 months while i closed on my home). When we told her mother, her mothers reaction was more of a 1.5 hr screaming fest; the repeated statements were; "How could you do this to me, you embarrassing me", "I taught you better", "What is wrong with you guys?", "How could you skip this step?", "This is wrong", "I am embarrassed" , "This makes me look bad", "I am disappointed in you (her daughter)". different ways of saying that, just because we weren't wed. I proceeded to be clam, and stand my ground, to ensure her, that her daughter is the love of my life, the barer of my child, I will fight for this family, I will love both of these people with ever being of my fiber. I told her my reason was that I would rather have a larger finical safety net to bring a child into this world since we are both 33, than to spend money on a wedding, and risk later life pregnancy. She would have non of this. As i watched my partner cry her face off, while her mother just stood there laying waste with her unsupportive words. I was torn, I am a big family guy. I only have a tiny circle (my clan) that i keep close... I told her mom, "I'm sorry you feel this way, what can i do to make you feel better?" she continued to just yell the same sentiment.. I looked at my partner, knowing she should NOT be stressed during this time of pregnancy, and said 'lets leave and give each other space' my partner didn't want to (in respect for her mom - we are both asian) but I insisted we leave. We did, I told her "respectfully I think we all need some space, if you allow us, we would like to leave right now", she said "ok".
I could not sleep for a couple nights (its been 3 weeks) the words she said cut like knives.. I feel offended, I feel so angry. Logically, in my mind i think, if you are a parent, your job is to watch your children.. they fumble, they fail, but you guide them you support them. How could you ever tell them their actions are a mistake and embarrassment.. furthermore.. her daughter is pregnant, she is experiencing so many emotions, especially fear.. how could you not put aside your feeling, and know at this very moment your daughter is looking for your support.. how could you let your daughter down when she needs you the MOST. I am twisted up, because I thought I was a good judge of character.. but wow all i come up with is selfish individual... who just cares about themselves.. This mother is supposed to be an adult.. all that angry and anguish all because... ? we weren't married? because we 'skipped' a step? all because we didn't fit into their cookie cutter norms.. I spiraled further questioning myself.. then came back around.. I grew up in a trailer.. no money, I fought tooth and nail, to put myself in college, to learn, to grow, to buy myself a car, to buy myself a home, and to get myself to a point I love. Yet how am i so irked by this person.. how can this person even understand what I went through. they don't, I think i'm just so conflicted. Sometimes I wish I could go and let her know a piece of my mind, I love family, and the thought of putting a rut between my partner and her mother also kills me.. I don't want that, but I don't want someone with those values of "self", "me", "me" around my child. Ever since then, so much of my why my partner and her brother are the way they are makes sense. I just want to let this mother know, "I am disappointed in myself, for letting someone so selfish come so close to me, I forgive but I don't forget. Lastly Thank you, thank you for raising someone to NOT be like you"
sorry - I guess... in some big part of this whole post is my having this bottled up emotion, being conflicted, and not able or willing to put this stress on my pregnant partner.
Thanks for listening.

2024.05.14 02:29 Ok_Coconut_2560 Noodles

My family has always been of great minds. I hated it. Growing up and having to study day and night to try and live up to them was extremely exhausting when I couldn't care how things worked as long as I was happy. I gave up but somehow everything kept turning out to be true.
Over my lifetime I have become the Gorden Ramsey of the science world. Known for my temper and also for huge things like curing world hunger using play-doe and cancer with baby powder I got in a back street ally while drunk.
To get my family off my back I started making random ideas so they could see me as a failure and leave me alone but...they keep working. And soon people started to praise me. Fame has left me with nothing but more and more attention. So today I plan to make sure that everyone can just think I'm insane and leave me alone and not some king.
I chuckled like a kid who was opening a Christmas present as I heard the crowd of people chatting and talking loudly as I hid behind my stage in a grey tight suit that my sister had picked out. I sighed and was ready to walk out and make a fool out of myself but my brother stopped me.
" Jack... I just want you to know how proud I am of you. Dad would have loved to see you right now. "
I thought it was ironic because last night while chilling on the couch watching TV and eating chips I made this theory up. He dusted off my shoulders held them tight and looked me in the eyes taking in the moment.
" go give them hell man. "
He had a goofy smile just like Dad but spoke with confidence.
" you got it, man. "
I heard my name being called onto the stage and the uproar startled me for a second but I collected myself and headed out after giving him a nod just to entertain him.
The lights were blinding as I grabbed the mic and looked at the table in front of me with a small box with the ingredients I needed and a chalkboard behind me.
After I stood still for a minute the crowd died down. I had not told anyone what I was presenting so the whole world was watching without a clue of what I was doing this time.
"Hello everyone. Today I believe I have my most important presentation yet..."
The crowd grew silent and hung on every word. And I heard my voice around the room through the speakers.
" Today I have with me a box...and inside is spaghetti I had for breakfast. "
The crowd laughed thinking it was a joke
" shut up "
The crowd grew silent once more
"Behind me is a chalkboard and I will now present my new findings to all of you...I have found out how to make portals to other worlds. "
A man in the far back of the audience yelled bullshit in a heavy Indian accent but he was so far it was a faint sound for me. I smiled at that thinking I had finally found something that would make me lose my title and I could go ahead and live a life without people making me feel like an evil man for not helping others.
I opened the box got a handful of the noodles and threw them at the chalkboard. I then grabbed a paper towel on standby to clean myself.
The noodles hit the board and slowly moved and rested on a spot on the board. I made eye contact with my brother backstage and he had a look on his face showing he believed in me.
I spun the board dropping the noodles to the ground I then grabbed the chalk and drew around the sauce and noodles that stuck to the board then drew my attention to the others that had fallen on the floor and drew an outline of that.
After it finished I threw the chalk in the crowd violently hitting an old lady in the face.
" Quickly I want a show of hands who thinks I'm a crazy guy "
Everyone raised their hands and I laughed to myself
I then went behind the board and laid it horizontally. I grabbed a small knife in my pocket and poked my finger with it. The crimson blood fell and hit the chalk and then as more and more blood hit the chalk it started glowing.
" you have got to be joking. "
I said out loud as it started to spark an orange glow and it slowly grew color to the rest of the chalk in orange sparks.
Once the symbol was fully sparking with orange the sauce began to swell and move around in a counterclockwise manner. I stepped away from it in shock as small parts of the blood in my finger began to float to the parts where it fell on the floor I drew my outlines on and started sparking those as well.
It started to smoke and hiss as if lightning could whisper and the orange began to take shape and the sauce made a doorway. The parts that were not on the board began to grow ice around them and started to make designs on the floor circling me and the board. Suddenly it grew in size and a large booming voice was heard through the portal as I felt panic of people start to set in.
A huge claw came out and scrapped the sides of my table trying to crawl out from the world it had been trapped in. Cold winds hit me as they cut my skin and threw around my clothes. As I saw the table was now melting from its touch.
A slimy green claw with mucus like a face-hugger egg from the movie Alien carved through the floor and pulled the rest of its body out slowly. A beast stood at 12 feet tall adjusting to our world as goop grew and shaped its body as people screamed, ran, and stood frozen in fear.
As it looked around it locked its spider-like eyes and swerled around coming out from the portal and twisting and turning around the body as it made its way to its head finding a place to rest. It then locked its eyes with me and its jaw twisted slowly from an ant-like maw to mine and slowly shrunk and it soon took the shape of me and knelt on the floor and spoke to me.
" master. "
I stood in shock as everyone seemed to calm down and watched to see what I would do.
"...umm "My family has always been of great minds.
" Today I have with me a box...and inside is spaghetti I had breakfast.

I stood in shock as everyone seemed to calm down and watched to see what I would do.

"...umm "

Part two of the noodle demon.
Now that this creature knelt before me I realized that the room I was in was so terrible quietly you could hear everyone's ass get tight in anticipation of what would happen next.
" ...what...are you. "
I spoke carefully to the being that had taken the shape of myself. It still took my breath away and my throat was dry.
The beast was a deep green. The color mixed with shades of grey streaming from it. The longer I looked at it I could see it getting closer to what I looked like shaping itself.
From small flowing green tendrils to an arm they grew as they twisted and made bone then muscle and finally skin.
It locked eyes with me and it smiled deeply at me. As it formed the face finally.
" Your vassle. "
My eyes had not moved to the crowd at all but even though the lights hit the stage so hard it was enveloped in smoke.
The creature's eyes glowed as it answered brightly, not figuratively. This thing's eyes were glowing.
"To serve you, We are bound by blood magic. I am a reflection of your desires, Master, " it said, its voice now a whisper in my mind.
It began to stand up as my grey suit began to form on it and by the time it stood fully up it had copied what I looked like.
" let me explain everything. "
My body frozen in fear woke up with adrenaline as I blinked and a flash of green smoke covered my vision as he teleported right to me face to face.
Its body turned to smoke and went into the slits of my eyes. I felt visions follow me in my peripheral vision but surprisingly no pain followed power filled me and it felt like one hell of a drug.
My body and mind altered.
I was now in a very dark place with no walls or light except my reflection on the floor which waved like water.
I took a step back looking around and back to the reflection of me on the ground.
Soon the water rippled and my reflection fell through the floor like gravity was inverted. he flew upright and water fell off of him as he looked at me as he now stood straight ahead of me. He was just reflecting in the water but now eyed me down.
Collecting my nerves.
I begin to speak.
" what do you want..."
He was still in my form and stood perfectly straight. Now with water dripping from his...my hair.
Slight stubble with hair that hung down and my hazel eyes were not present within him but I was greeted with a swelling acidic green that doubled the size of my pupil.
" to serve you. "
He made no other movement than putting his hands behind his back like a soldier at ease.
I could not tell if it was lying or not.
" ...is that it? "
" I am the embodiment of your fear desires and brilliance. You have shaped me. Your desire for solitude birthed me. I will aid you in shaping the world how you see fit. Your reality becomes mine. "
There was a slight echo in the room as he spoke.
" wait...where are we "
I questioned haphazardly
" your mind. "
An awkward silence was in the air until I spoke
" so...am I just standing on the stage not making a sound? "
He gave me a concerned look.
" no...time has frozen outside for you. You may sleep here without having to in the real world so to others you look as if you never rest and you may think and plan what to do in battle here. For them, it will be about two seconds...Do...do you not have any knowledge of what I am? "
Suddenly I felt bad like I had encountered someone famous and I had no idea who they were. A slap in the face like a popular kid meeting someone who had never heard of them. Ego shattered.
" ok sorry no. I...don't go around reading about...monsters?"
I felt like was I saying the n-word of the demon realm not knowing if that word was offensive.
He folded his arms a little upset.
"Are you not a warrior? "
" well...no I...just watch TV and cook here and there- "
The demon cut me off
" weak. "
" excuse me? "
" look. I am an immortal being and after a while you get bored. So I'm sorry if I may be a little upset after being bonded with some nobody. "
I got quiet and I was a little annoyed that I was being roasted by some demon that I just met.
Its form wavers and eyes begin to open on its skin. Cheeks forhead etc.
"After being a god for so long it's fun to play with limitations. Makes things extremely exciting. "
" what do you mean by that? "
" look. You can only be so entertained by the same things. Life gets boring and now...you are going to help me with this. I get to have pure entertainment while you get every wish you could ever want. A mutual bond no? "
He then closed his eyes annoyed and the other eyes meshed back to his skin.
" though... the TV is not that interesting...life is what gets the blood pumping"
I felt the need to quickly change the topic
"Are there others like you? "
The room began to take shape very slowly as the water floor turned to wood and walls went around us.
" of course. You may meet them one day "
Confused and curious I pressed.
"Meet them? "
" yes. Summoning one of us is considered a threat to them. "
He spoke while opening and closing his newly found hand except backward.
" hm...no that don't look right "
I quickly responded
" Wait! How is doing that a threat! "
"Well, one doesn't just accidentally Summon one of us to suddenly get powers beyond human control. "
I thought back to how I summoned him by accident with some food I made.
" well...funny story but I summoned you using my breakfast..."
I had never regretted speaking so much as in that moment.
" What... "
Acid dripped from his words. Literally. His pupils split in half and his bottom jaw ripped open like an ant and curved giving sharpness to the bone.
"Please don't kill me. "
The room began to look like a cozy cabin with a fireplace and he slowly went back to normal.
" I would if I could. I've never felt so disrespected. We are bonded by your blood. If you die...I die. "
Suddenly I felt at ease by this new information.
Then a thought came to my mind
" ...God's can die? "
" you did hear me, right? "
The SAS from this guy was unneeded and I was starting to miss him being on his knees as weird as that sounds.
" so...all that power gone.... in an instant... "
" well...no actually God's powers don't just disappear they transfer to whoever killed them...wait...hold up."
He suddenly had an epiphany.
A smile grew on his face and he grabbed my shoulders
" you! You are going to help me kill the other gods! "
He sounded proud but I let him down.
" ha! No. "
" oh come on! Don't be like that. "
He did a pout.
"Look, man. I'm not killing gods for you. Just because you are bored. "
" hey...they might send people to kill you because you bonded with me. "
"What did I ever do to them? "
"They have a system to this stuff. They like to build and watch things play out. You're a problem. That can mess it up. So...they kill ya...to be honest, I don't know any other way to explain it, man. You know people normally just use my power to kill people and become a king and know this already. "
"This is outrageous. "
" bro. Look if you do this I will be able to get their powers and you will be able to do so much more than what I offer "
I tilted my head
" what can you do? Know what never mind. I will just talk to them and figure things out. "
He groaned and his form melted down sagging and it shot back up reforming
"Is there not anything that you want? Anything in the world? Gods don't put themselves in physical forms. They give people power and can make beings to hunt you. And if they care enough to come down themself. Ha, good luck."
I stopped and thought about it trying to weigh the options of pissing off higher beings.
Suddenly. I found something.
"Can you bring back the dead..."
He stopped confused.
" well...no "
" then I don't want anything "
" wait! "
He threw his arms out pleading
"I don't...but another God does..."
He crosses his arms smiling. He had left the question hanging letting me reconsider his offer.
I stopped and thought for a while before looking back up to him.
I let out a sigh and looked him in the eyes
" ok...you are going to help me get my father back. "
The demon smirked.

Minor Party

This section is dedicated to minor parties that lack ballot access or cannot field candidates beyond specific races, making their chances of winning impossible.
Drunkards
Amidst the backdrop of anti-immigrant and Catholic sentiments fueled by campaigns advocating Temperance and the implementation of anti-alcohol measures on the national agendas of leading political factions, a coalition of politically engaged Catholic and Irish immigrants has emerged. Spearheaded by the influential editor of The Boston Post, James Gordon Bennett Sr., a Scottish Roman Catholic, their collective efforts have given rise to a small yet significant political organization: the Workingman's Party. With minor political connections, the party has largely remained native to Massachusetts, where it has contested several seats across the state, on a platform consisting of only three issues: equal protections for immigrants and immigrant workers, labor rights, and most infamously of all, opposition to temperance and alcohol restrictions. As a consequence, despite its intended role as a champion for laborers and immigrants, the party has more famously become to be known the mocking moniker of the "Drunkards" party, a label crafted by detractors to smear its reputation and insinuate that the party is run by a bunch of alcoholics who only became politically active after attempts to take or limit their bottle consumption

2024.05.14 02:15 CryptographerBig8642 NYXI Warrior First Impressions

I haven't seen any posts about this thing anywhere on the internet so I'm posting it here so it's easiest to find. I ordered it several weeks ago and it finally arrived so I've only had a few days to play with it, but so far so good.
I want to start with my biggest gripe since it's likely to be a deal breaker for many people although it's likely they could fix it with a new driver somewhere down the line. The Warrior does not support analogue triggers on the GameCube, meaning many GameCube games are less enjoyable or downright impossible to play. I am astounded that this is a problem and I am hoping it's not a widespread issue since this controller has so much else going for it, but until it's fixed games like Mario Sunshine will give you an inadequate experience. I'm praying I either find a work around or it's fixed by Nyxi soon, since every other part of this controller is so good.
Comparing the Warrior to a normal GameCube controller (especially a cheap 3rd-party one), there is a striking difference in quality. It's well weighted and feels significant in your hands, a perfect blend between the texture of the original GC controller and the premium feel of a Switch Pro controller. It's a bit larger than a normal GC controller too which could make a difference for those with big hands.
The thumbstick is curved inward making it slip-resistant and very comfortable. You also receive additional thumbsticks allowing you to make the C-stick the same size as the left stick and change the octagon around the sticks to a smooth circle. The sticks are advertised to be hall-effect as well, meaning drift is a far less likely issue.
The buttons on the Warrior are outstanding. Like the site advertises, they are micro-switches so they have little travel and a very satisfying click. I heard Nyxi's previous "Wizard" GC Joycon's buttons were quite mushy, so you won't experience that problem here. The bumpers have similarly little travel but aren't microswitches, so they're weird to get used to.
The triggers (while not picking up an analogue input in GC mode as mentioned earlier) work perfectly via Bluetooth. They have noticeably more resistance than a standard trigger but you're able to adjust how far down they travel, which automatically adjusts the sensitivity of the analogue input due to them being hall sensing. They're perfectly fine and I can see people preferring them over normal GC triggers since it's a more modern design.
The D-pad is uh, weird. It has microswitches and is all one part, but because of how it's built it feels like you're pushing around a bowl or plate instead of the normal feel of a D-pad. It's both clicky and mushy, but thankfully it's ok enough to traverse menus and such. Don't try to play a 2D platformer with it or you'll have a bad time, but I doubt you're buying this thing for that anyways.
The rest of the buttons are fine. The main system button has a nice glow around it and the +/- feel decent enough. The back bumper pads are small but in the perfect place for my middle or ring fingers to use them (and you can switch them out if you ever wanted to 3D print larger bumpers.) It also comes with HD rumble and gyro control, but I haven't tried them.
In conclusion, it's fantastic but the analogue trigger issue heavily holds it back. The controller's ability to switch between modern and retro systems is as much of a killer feature as it's build quality, but until the issue brought up earlier is fixed, it's not a good fit for people looking to play it on GC. If you are looking just to play emulators and Switch or you enjoy the GC button layout, it's a good choice.
(If I find a fix for the triggers or Nyxi fixes them, I'll edit the post.)

Ran straight over a curb at low speed.
I drove over a small curb going about 1-2mph, the front tires went over and then I heard a thud. I circled the parts where I saw some scrapes, as far as I can tell that's where the car hit when it bottomed out. Damage is on both sides. What's the potential damage?

2024.05.14 02:06 OSHASHA2 ⚠️ Beware your Biases: a lesson on Intergroup Contact Theory and why you’ve never been visited by Aliens (maybe)

If disguised under a preposterous or “absurd” appearance, [a UFO’s] effects would be undetected for a long time. I believe this could be a key to the confrontation with UFOs. ~Jacques Vallee
In 1954 the sociologist Gordon Allport published a book called The Nature of Prejudice. In it, he and some colleagues elucidated a link between increasing Intergroup Contact and reducing Racial Prejudice. At the time this was breakthrough research; repeated contact between members of the “in” and “out” group reduces stigma toward the “out” group.
In 1954 this could be easily illustrated by the attitudes of the public-at-large toward racial minorities over the preceding 100 years – shifting attitudes toward slaves and their descendants, as well as the previous 10 years – attitudes toward Japanese-Americans over the course of WWII.
As it turns out one of the most effective ways at reducing prejudice is “equal status contact between majority and minority groups in the pursuit of common goals.”
For slaves, their descendants, Japanese-Americans, and countless others across history, this contact has been stained with blood and tears. But contact it was nonetheless, and our stigma toward these “out” groups declined overtime as they became part of the “in” group. They became ‘American’ and their “out” group identities and goals have become, and are becoming, less stigmatized.
Today, I believe we are watching this dissolution of stigma play out en masse on the world stage. The funny thing is that this time, all of humanity is part of a microcosmic “out” group and the aliens in their UFOs are part of the macrocosmic “in” group trying to get us to adopt their goals. What then, is so unsettling about humanity that they take such a slow-going route of stigma dissolution? Why don’t they just introduce themselves as equal status individuals?
—————————∞—————————
Attitude Rebound and Stigma
A few days ago I made the same post in both UFOs and Aliens. The post contained what I thought to be a reasonable, logical hypothesis that could easily explain away all paranormal phenomena… Yes, all paranormal phenomena. The post got about as much attention in each subreddit, however the reactions to its content was drastically different on each subreddit.
I will admit that I was being a little overzealous in my efforts to “raise the consciousness of humanity” and was proselytizing to some folks in the comments. My B 🙇🏻. What I found very very interesting, however, was how commenters on UFOs were much more critical and reductive than commenters on Aliens, who seemed more open to my zany hypothesis and its possibilities.
Now, I am not a physicist. I can barely remember the unit circle. I got a D in calculus at university. That is why/when I decided to get a liberal education rather than a scientific one. Having said that, I am very passionate about science and the scientific method. I am a nurse by trade, and for twelve hours a day, three days a week, according to my profession, I conduct three to five “n of 1” studies and report the results of these studies to a medical doctor. My job is to experiment on human beings and document outcomes.
What I observed when I made those posts was that one community was receptive and the other was hostile. I joined both UFOs and Aliens so that I could keep up to date on the latest disclosure news. I have noticed in my time browsing these subreddits that UFOs tends to request hard, ‘scientific’ data from posters, whereas Aliens seems to have more interest in the subjective experience of posters. Of course there is a lot of overlap given the content of these subreddits.
This is all just to say that the same message may be received differently, and it’s content interpreted differently, even by the same/overlapping populations, due to the stigma of individuals. So I think it prudent that we introspect and hold an awareness of our own stigmas and biases, understanding they may be seated deep in our unconscious mind. We should reconsider the things we find absurd, for in the absurdity there may be a powerful lesson.
—————————∞—————————
Thank you to those who upvoted/downvoted and commented. Thank you for participating in this community. Thank you for being unwitting participants in this accidental study, and I will leave you with this quote from Gordon Allport:
It is here that we encounter the central theme of existentialism: to live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffering. If there is a purpose in life at all, there must be a purpose in suffering and in dying. But no man can tell another what this purpose is. Each must find out for himself, and must accept the responsibility that his answer prescribes.

2024.05.14 02:01 Hatrct A Potentially Fatal New COVID-Related Syndrome Has Emerged

It won't let me post the link, if you want to search for the article copy paste part of the quotes into a search engine.
A rare yet deadly autoimmune disorder appears to be on the rise in the north of England, and new research indicates that the outbreak may be linked to COVID-19. Known as Anti-MDA5 positive dermatomyositis, the disease was mainly observed in Asian populations prior to the pandemic, yet is now surging among the caucasian residents of Yorkshire.
Triggered by antibodies that attack an enzyme called MDA5 (melanoma differentiation-associated protein 5), the illness is associated with progressive interstitial lung disease, which is characterized by scarring of the lung tissue. Between 2020 and 2022, doctors in Yorkshire reported an unprecedented 60 cases of MDA5 autoimmunity, resulting in eight deaths.
Strangely, they don't break it down by year. Was it 55 cases in 2021-22 and 5 cases in 2020? They clearly have this data, but bizarrely decided to deliberately not break it down by year.
Analyzing this surge in a new study, the researchers point out that the sudden increase in cases coincides with the major waves of COVID-19 infections during the peak years of the pandemic. This immediately grabbed their attention because MDA5 is an RNA receptor that plays a key role in recognizing the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Again, they already have the data, which waves in particular are they talking about?
“Here we report a surge in the rate of anti-MDA5 positivity testing in our region (Yorkshire) in the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, which was notable because this entity is relatively rare in the UK,” write the study authors. This phenomenon, they say, is probably indicative of “a distinct form of MDA5+ disease in the COVID-19 era,” which they have labelled “MDA5-autoimmunity and Interstitial Pneumonitis Contemporaneous with COVID-19” (MIP-C).
Finally here they get a bit more specific. "Second years" of the pandemic means 2021. What else happened in 2021? Keep in mind that the peak 2021 wave (omicron) was well at the end of 2021. It was December 2021-January 2022.
Overall, only eight of the 60 patients had previously tested positive for COVID-19, suggesting that many may have had asymptomatic infections that they weren’t aware of. This implies that even mild infections that produce no initial symptoms may be sufficient to trigger MDA5 autoimmunity.
It could mean this. But it could also mean that of the 52/60 who did not test positive for covid, a significant % of them did not have asymptomatic infection, and in 2021, something else happened to them.
“Given the peak of MDA5 positivity testing followed the peak of COVID-19 cases in 2021, and coincided with the peak of vaccination, these findings suggest an immune reaction or autoimmunity against MDA5 upon SARS-CoV-2 and/or vaccine exposure,” conclude the researchers.
Despite the bizarre and deliberately vague article in which they don't specify data/timelines they clearly have, at least they have the audacity to hide this right at the end of the article.
Anyways, I have said from the beginning that I suspect that the synthetic spike protein is the root of most issues associated with long covid/post covid symptoms such as the one mentioned in this article. To me this finding is more indication of this being true. I had warned of this in the past, but I was told saying "we need to do rigorous scientific studies to ensure that the spike protein from the vaccine would not cause damage" constituted as "scientific misinformation" and was censored.

2024.05.14 01:57 definitely_not_upset I (17FtM) get jealous over my partner's (17F) friendships with other people

For starters, we aren't "dating" dating. We're in a queerplatonic arrangement which for us just means kissing is a hit or miss, and we cuddle a lot and show unconditional love. This has been our situation for the last 1.5 years.
I've had a pretty sheltered life and I live far away from the city center (with inconveniently timed buses), so we've settled for me staying over her place from Friday right after school to Sunday. Also keep in mind that my girlfriend (let's call her Abby here for anonymity's sake) is disabled and so we can't go out unless her guardian can drive us there (which she usually can't because she's at work) +there aren't a lot of places that are completely accessible, so we stick to just staying inside.
I'm kind of stuck in a routine. Every week we suffer through school, and then on the weekends we end up too tired to do anything. I desperately want to start going out more but my mother won't let me go out on my own, and going with one of my friends other than "Abby" feels weird, because we're always in a group together. Even though she has no problem and actually encourages me to go hang out with more people, it still feels like a weird betrayal of trust I don't like to partake in.
So, I want to go out, but I want to go with her. If she isn't there it feels off. Now keep in mind she has never made any advances to control me and my social life, and I am well aware this is all an issue on my part. I think as a result of this mindset, I've started getting jealous of her and her friendships outside of our own. I hate feeling this way because it's completely uncalled for and it's clearly a reflection of my own insecurity.
I've made this weird mental barrier for myself where I'm not allowing myself other friendships without her. It's immature, and hurting me a lot. If she goes out without me I get really butthurt about it.
I haven't told Abby this and I haven't let this mindset have any effect on my behavior towards her, because that'd be unfair to her. This summer I want to make more of an effort for us to go outside, but I lack the money and putting the responsibility on Abby's mom to drive us around feels awful.
In a few days we've set up an outing to a boba shop to talk through stuff. I will bring this up to her, because she deserves to know, but this is still an issue I've got to solve on my own.
TL;DR: I've made a weird non-problem about me hanging out with other people and it reflects on how i see my partner hanging out with other people.
I am well aware I am in the wrong, I'm looking for advice on how to stop limiting my own social life, so I won't be setting stupidly unreasonable expectations. All I'm looking for is for advice on how to open up my social circle without feeling guilty about it.
Any ideas on how I can get over this barrier I've set for myself so I can limit/stop these thoughts?

2024.05.14 01:52 FebreezeLinenAirMist I hate how much captioning is catered to Korean over English.

Every single video from a JPOP group especially under HYBE, immediately captioned in Korean
All the weverse lives from every jpop group, captioned in Korean in under 24 hours and English and other languages a week later
Even the fans themselves when they upload fancams which is the most frustrating, when asked if they want Youtube's auto captions they choose Korean.
Now obviously KPOP and JPOP go hand in hand, but you'd think 1. English being the most universal language, 2. Tons of JPOP artists adopting English as their 2nd/3rd language besides Korean and 3. American artists being a crap load of these artists role models (Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson, Chris Brown etc.), they'd have English/Korean readily available.
But oddly it's nonexistent until a week later or a fan that has a beautiful soul translates it for English viewers, which I find pretty sad.
Yes I know there's some underground website of fandom translators and you can download the video yourself and run it through auto captioning software, but the fact a billion dollar label doesn't consider a massive portion of their viewers to begin with is the part I can't wrap my head around.

2024.05.14 01:52 jboss10 MoCA Setup - Failing Downstream Issues Now

I recently setup a working MoCA network at our new house. Verified there was a PoE filter of the coax line coming into the house (I cannot find the picture on my phone but I did lookup the part number on it to verify - I can provide if necessary to help troubleshoot).
Prior to purchasing equipment, I labeled all my runs using one of the coax tester tools and bought a 4-way splitter (from the 8 that was here). Only use 2 out of the 4 right now but an anticipation with expanding in future.
I replaced a COMMSCOPE CSAPDU9VP splitter with a: Amphenol 4-Way Digital Coaxial Splitter MoCA 2.5 ABS314H (line from the road into the IN port and the 2 OUTs to 2 rooms).
In the office, I connected the coax from the wall to another splitter: Amphenol 2-Way Digital Coaxial Splitter MoCA 2.5 ABS312H. One end to the modem and another to the goCoax. I bought the: goCoax MoCA 2.5 2 pack adapters.
Rigged everything up and all was working flawlessly (it's been ~1.5 week). I just noticed today that I got kicked offline (work from home) and just noticed that the downstream on my Motorolla MB8611 is blinking blue. Prior to getting kicked off, I just had blinking green lights. I did a modem reboot and I do have internet but with an issue on the downstream channels it seems.
I do know when I connected this all up, I had solid blue lights for both downstream/upstream. Now, I cannot say it hasn't been blinking blue for downstream for longer, I just happened to notice today after a disconnect that it was. Not entirely sure what is going on. Large number of corrected/uncorrected on Channels 33/34.
TIA for any ideas/support!

Ran over a curb, what's the damage
I ran over a curb going straight at like 1-2 mph, didn't even see the curb it was so small. As soon as my front tires went over the car bottomed out and I heard a thud. I checked out the best I can and the only damage I can see are scrape marks on the parts I circled, on both sides, looks like the suspension. I didn't notice any difference in how it drove but I only drove it home about 10 miles. I want to think it's fine but I'm worried about what I'm not seeing, what should I look out for?
