2024.05.14 17:39 Spare_Sir9167 Keys in locks -for House Insurance claims

I have always wondered if a household claim would be refused if after a break in it was noticed there were keys in window locks, or even the front door. Assuming there was evidence of forced entry, something like a smashed window.
I am paranoid about taking the key out of the front door at night in case of fire, I can imagine a house full of smoke trying to locate a front door key. And how many people leave the key in the window locks?
We even leave the key in the downstairs back door, because you know I go round making sure they are locked at night, but thinking I will have to change this habit.

2024.05.14 17:37 Glass-Piglet-9201 insurance adjuster still hasn't gotten back to me after I sent updated claim

I had a tree fall and break slates on my roof. The roofing company gave me an estimate of 6,000 -8000 and wrote on it "may exceed 8,000 if fascia is broken underneath".
I contacted my home owners insurance company, who had a 3rd party insurance adjuster to my house. I sent him the estimate and he said "ok, go ahead and proceed. We are paying you the average of that 7,000 and I sent the check out. " A few weeks later when the job was done, it did exceed that and was 10,000 in total. The roofer updated the invoice and documented the reason with the tree cracking the fascia as well.
I sent the adjuster an email with the updated invoice and 2 weeks went by and didn't hear anything. I then wrote "checking in on this" and he responded "you will have an update by me at the end of the week". Fast forward 3 weeks, still nothing and I wrote back again and haven't heard anything. I also tried calling a few times. What is my recourse? Do I call the insurance company? I also don't want to get on this guy's bad side and have him side against my updated claim.

2024.05.14 17:33 WebRepulsive8329 AITHA I anonymously told a process server where my brother in law was.

So my wife's brother... I've never liked him. I keep my mouth shut about it, but I've always found him to be arrogant in the extreme. Anytime there's a gathering of my wife's family, he talks over everyone, every conversation has to be about him. And he tells these insanely long stories that have no point, it's more just to keep the attention on him. He lives with his girlfriend, who doesn't work and hasn't ever had a job. Now, against my better judgement, in the last two years (my wife wanted to.) we have 'loaned' him over 3 grand. He's a car salesman, and blows through any money he makes selling cars like it's water. Never saves... nothing. So when sales drop, he has no money for anything... rent, food, gas, you name it.
Well... I often look at court records in my area. Public records. Mostly so I can make sure my daughter (a whole nother story) didn't get yet another speeding ticket and try to hide it from us. (she's 17, did that once, and she's on our insurance.) I was on there the day after my wife's birthday at the end of March. The whole time her brother had been again... talking over everyone, and making himself the center of attention. He didn't give her a present, and tried to swipe a gift card she'd gotten from her parents. So he was down on my list (as usual.)
Anyway... I put his name in.. and... there it was. Chase Bank is looking for him to sue him for a credit card. It was a 7k debt. Looking to take him to small claims court. Not astronomical, but for him, probably a lot. But... they had attempted to serve him at his old apartment it looked like, and he'd moved (again) because he couldn't afford that place. I was pissed at him still for how he'd acted the day before and... I looked up and found the server who had been assigned (it's all in the court docket) and using a new email address I made up, sent them his current address.
Well.... it worked, and he's being taken to court. My wife wants to give him 50% of the money, and have her parents give him the other 50%. I'm totally against it, but I can't help but feel like I'm the asshole because I let them know where to find him.

2024.05.14 17:26 rogvortex58 Any advice for someone who is still technically employed, but…

Isn’t currently working right now or earning any income because their work is closed due to a recent fire. 🔥
I was on Centrelink for 2 years because of Covid. When I got my job, my provider literally “borrowed” my phone and cancelled my claim online, so they could say they got a result. Typical.
It’s been a good year and a half of steady employment. But shit happens. 🤷‍♂️
I’m sure my employer is insured and will be able to get the place back up and running eventually. But it doesn’t exactly help me right now.

2024.05.14 17:23 BossySweetRosey Title Insurance Claim - Scrivener's Error

My parents have owned their home for 37 years. During that time, they have refinanced several times, and eventually paid the house off in the early pandemic.
Recently, they went to apply for a HELOC to finance construction on another property. During that process, a scrivener's error was discovered in the registry of deeds that took place in 1958. In this 1958 deed, they referenced the wrong book & page number of the property plan. The correct reference was Plan Book 15, Page 60. But the clerk incorrectly entered Plan Book 16, Page 50.
They purchased title insurance when they purchased the property 37 years ago, and it's been a terrible struggle for my folks dealing with this company.
The title company paid a lawyer to file an affidavit of scrivener's error with the county registry of deeds and then offered my folks $1,000 to forgo their right to any future claims.
The bank is not happy with the simple affidavit. So my folks are unable to access any equity and are worried about what will happen if they try to sell their home in the future or leave the home to their children when they pass.
I'm not sure what kind of advice or insight I am asking for, a lot of this feels like a foreign language. But I guess I'm wondering to what extent they should push the title company to remedy the error? What is a reasonable and fair outcome my folks should be seeking?
Thanks in advance.
TL;DR - The bank is worried that the affidavit will not be sufficient in the event they have to foreclose in the future. My parents are worried the affidavit will not be sufficient if they try to sell/access equity/leave the house to their children.
Title company insists the affidavit is sufficient. They have stated that alternative remedies include contacting the heirs of all previous owners (all previous owners themselves are dead), and bringing the matter before the state Supreme Court. They also insist that these alternative remedies will take many years to complete, leaving my folks in limbo in the meantime, and costing the title insurance company many thousands of unnecessary dollars.

Hello!
I did PGTM along with PGTA. PGTM is covered by my insurance BCBS however PGTA is not. I used my FSA account to pay for the PGTA portion which was invoiced to me.
Currently my FSA account has denied my claim even though I supplied the receipt. Below is a excerpt explaining the denial:

2024.05.14 17:20 Impressive_Storm7270 Collection bill

First off I work for my health insurer so I know how and why things get denied. My husband was in the hospital and I got a bill from the anesthesia that was done and it was the full amount. My insurance had denied it. So I looked up the explanation of benefits and saw improper billing/coding. I knew right away what was wrong. So I attempted to call their number and relayed that my insurance will pay it in full if they add the appropriate modifiers and use the correct diagnosis coding. I told them I know this because I work for them processing claims. They did not take my advice at all. The claim ends up in a collection agency. So I contact customer service of my insurance and they call the collection and told them they will try and resolve it. Well the anesthesia place wouldn’t listen to them either. I did nothing at this point. A few years go by and I get a bill again from the collection agency. So now my clams are steamed. I pulled off a copy of my explanation of benefits that outlined why it was denied and showed I don’t owe anything. I wrote them a note saying the provider is at fault here and I will not be paying this and they are just going to have to eat it. Haven’t heard any more from them so far. Lol.

2024.05.14 17:11 Then_Masterpiece_113 Should I submit a claim?

So someone hit me today while driving. He admitted fault and we didn’t call the police since it was so minor. There are a few scratches on my car. Should I submit a claim through his insurance? Or should I leave it how it is?
I would ideally like to get the scratches removed but if it’ll raise my premiums I’ll just pay for it myself or maybe try to contact the person to pay for it, or leave it.

2024.05.14 16:51 Intelligent-Car4336 Advice Needed: Transferring Vehicle Ownership to LLC for Car Rental Business

I recently established an LLC for my car rental business, which currently operates with five vehicles. These vehicles are rented out to a single company. However, they're still registered under my personal name instead of my LLC's name. When I approached the state secretary's office to rectify this, I was informed that transferring ownership would incur significant taxes.
  1. Given that I purchased these vehicles just a month ago, I'm considering reaching out to the dealership where I bought them. Do you think they would be able to reissue the titles under my LLC's name to avoid the tax burden?
  2. In the rental agreements I've drafted, there's a clause stating that neither I nor my LLC are responsible for any claims or liability issues if the commercial insurance denies coverage. However, since the vehicles are registered under my personal name, would this clause still offer protection in case of disputes or claims?
  3. Another concern is when the drivers using the rented vehicles are pulled over by the police. Since the registration documents show my personal name, not my LLC's, could this potentially lead to complications or legal issues during routine traffic stops?
Thank you so much for your time. I really appreciate it.

Toronto, Ontario--(Newsfile Corp. - May 14, 2024) - Appia Rare Earths & Uranium Corp. (CSE: API) (OTCQX: APAAF) (FSE: A0I0) (MUN: A0I0) (BER: A0I0) (the "Company" or "Appia") announced today the results from the newly identified exploration targets Taygeta and Merope. A total of 111 samples from 18 auger drill holes were assayed by SGS-GEOSOL Laboratories in Vespasiano, Brazil. The results confirm that the regolith developed over the Ipora Granite presented significant enrichment of Heavy Rare Earth Oxides (HREO), characteristic of the Ionic Adsorption Clay (IAC) rare earth elements (REE) deposits identified at other PCH target zones.
Stephen Burega, President, commented, "These initial results from the auger drill program are very promising, and provide us with a strong indication that the PCH project can host multiple new IAC REE mineralized areas in addition to the resource already identified in our maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) completed by SGS Canada. Additionally, these new target zones are considerably larger in total area as compared to the Target IV. Desorption test results will be reported once received."
Highlights
  • The new targets are in the Eastern portion of the PCH claims, approximately 15 km East from Target IV and the Buriti Zone (see Figure 1).
  • Selected intercepts for Heavy Rare Earth Oxide (HREO), Total Rare Earth Oxide (TREO), Dysprosium plus Terbium oxides (Dy+Tb) and Praseodymium plus Neodymium oxides (Nd+Pr) grades in Parts Per Millions (ppm):
    • PCH-AH-190 - **4m@**1848ppm TREO, 1138ppm HREO, 106ppm Dy+Tb, 205ppm Nd+Pr from 1m.
    • PCH-AH-193 - **5m@**1254ppm TREO, 270ppm HREO, 29ppm Dy+Tb, 217ppm Nd+Pr from 1m.
    • PCH-AH-194 - **2m@**1175ppm TREO, 274ppm HREO, 31ppm Dy+Tb, 257ppm Nd+Pr from 4m.
    • PCH-AH-199 - **2m@**1131ppm TREO, 276ppm HREO, 30ppm Dy+Tb, 209ppm Nd+Pr from 2m.
    • PCH-AH-201 - 4m@ 1022ppm TREO, 245ppm HREO, 28ppm Dy+Tb, 211ppm Nd+Pr from 2m.
    • PCH-AH-202 - **8m@**1696ppm TREO, 1070ppm HREO, 101ppm Dy+Tb, 172ppm Nd+Pr from 0m.
    • PCH-AH-204 - **5m@**1267ppm TREO, 754ppm HREO, 75ppm Dy+Tb, 168ppm Nd+Pr from 1m.
    • PCH-AH-207 - **6m@**1025 ppm TREO, 262ppm HREO, 29ppm Dy+Tb, 196ppm Nd+Pr from 3m.
  • The grade distribution signature found at depth in the auger drill holes is compatible with the pattern commonly found on IAC REE deposits (see Figures 2 and 3).
  • The Taygeta and Merope targets cover an area of 546 and 1,134 hectares respectively.
  • These first phase auger drill holes average 6.22 metres in depth, and most ended in mineralization leaving the interval open at depth.
  • Intercepts of all auger drill holes are presented in Table 1. The full set of results are included in this LINK.
Tom Drivas, CEO, stated, "Building on our recent news confirming the presence of IAC mineralization through desorption testing, I am extremely excited by the identification of new, large scale targets across the PCH project which are underlain by the IAC mineralization produced by these weathered Ipora granites. We have a lot of work to do over the coming months to fully delineate these new target zones, and to assess the implications of their addition to our maiden MRE, and true value to the marketplace."

Andre Costa, VP Exploration for Brazil, commented, "The confirmation of these new targets opens the prospect of finding new exploration targets associated with the Ipora Granite across the entirety of the PCH project area which covers an impressive +40,000 hectares. Auger samples for desorbability testing are being prepared to corroborate the IAC REE mineralization in Taygeta and Merope targets. Delineation drilling will follow upon favorable desorption results."

QA/QC
Auger drill holes are vertical and reported intervals are true thickness. The material produced from drill holes are sampled at one metre intervals, resulting in average sample sizes of 5-10 kg. Quartering of the material was performed at Appia's logging facility using a riffle splitter and continued splitting until a representative sample weighing approximately 500g each was obtained, bagged in a resistant plastic bag, labeled, photographed, and stored for shipment.
The bagged samples are sent to the SGS laboratory in Vespasiano, Minas Gerais. In addition to the internal QA/QC of the SGS Lab, Appia includes its own control samples in each batch of samples sent to the laboratory.
Quality control samples, such as blanks, duplicates, and standards (CRM) were inserted into each analytical run. For all analysis methods, the minimum number of QA/QC samples is one standard, one duplicate and one blank, introduced in each batch which comprise a full-length hole. The rigorous procedures are implemented during the sample collection, preparation, and analytical stages to insure the robustness and reliability of the analytical results.
All analytical results reported herein have passed internal QA/QC review and compilation. All assay results of Auger samples were provided by SGS Geosol, an ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Certified Laboratory, which performed their measure of the concentration of rare earth elements (REE) with the IMS95R analytical method that uses lithium metaborate fusion prior acid dissolution and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS).
The technical information in this news release, including the information related to geology, drilling, and mineralization, has been reviewed and approved by Andre L. L. Costa, Appia's VP Exploration for Brazil, with more than 29 years of relevant experience. Mr. Costa is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (FAIG) and is a Qualified Person (QP) as defined by National Instrument 43-101 - Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects.

2024.05.14 16:27 Kfinch92 Car insurance rental coverage...

So I purchased a (used) vehicle and after a month the motor locked up, vehicle warranty is covering the replacement and up to $40/day $400 total for a rental. Which is nearly impossible to find for $40/day.
I realized after I already found a turo for $35/ day that my car insurance covers rental reimbursement.
Is this coverage able to be used even though there wasn't an actual claim on my insurance?
And if so would using the coverage increase rates?

2024.05.14 16:18 Schmidie23 Rates go up after found 0% at fault?

I had a phone interview with my claims adjuster regarding an accident I had recently. Basically I hit a kid who was driving a small electric go cart in the road.
She said I am most likely 0% at fault, and did everything to avoid the accident. My insurance will still have to pay $30,000, my limit for BI. I just upped that limit today.
Will my rate go up if I am found 0% at fault?

2024.05.14 16:07 Jukz Insurance claims for Institutions/Companies

Hey everyone. I'm currently studying how to set up a business where my company would be the employer of multiple RDNs.
When I look at Nourish, I see that they have partnerships with insurances. My question is: is Nourish (the company) that has a partnership with the insurances or is each specific RDN employeed by them that have the partnership?
I'd appreciate if anyone could help or guide me to where I could find this information (I've found a lot of data on how an individual dietitian can submit an insurance claim, but nothing regarding companies). Thank you!

2024.05.14 16:04 ExPatWharfRat [Pennsylvania] what date to use as first day unemployed for claiming insurance?

Person in question was a salaried employee. Last day worked was 5/1 but separation agreement is dated 5/10. From what I userstand, this person was paid through the 10th, which was the end of that pay period.
What date does this person indicate was the last day worked, 5/1 or 5/10?
All access and permissions were revoked as of 5/1, but the date of the separation documents are all dated 5/10

2024.05.14 15:45 headoverheels831 Seeking advice, resource, support

I know I want out of my marriage. Been together 20 years, married 14. Two kids that are still young. I’ve been a Sahm mostly for 10 years. I’m looking to go back to work but earning potential realistically is 40-60k. Hoping to jump through the ranks quickly. We have decent equity in our home but we can not sell for 2-3 years because we had a few home insurance claims and now are uninsurable until those drop off… meaning the Home is uninsurable to any new owner as well which means they won’t be able to get a loan.
Husband recently quit his job and took a large pay cut (30k), and we are subsidizing every month with my dwindling inheritance. (3-5k)Daycare is extremely expensive which we won’t have to deal with starting in fall. Rents are high (close to what our mortgage is). I’m scared given circumstances we can’t even afford to split up and live on our own in apartments. We need the equity from the home to pay off 3 large debts he took out. If we rent our home we can’t each afford an apartment plus pay off debts. I don’t even see how he could afford alimony or child support on his current salary with cost of living. I would want 50/50 or 60/40 custody anyway.
He could live in our spare room in garage or I could but cohabitating seems so miserable. Neither of us have family or friends who can help or support beyond verbal support.
I plan to consult a divorce attorney soon, hopefully free or low cost consult. How do people do this?
