I have something I just want the colour changed on in a couple of images but I cant post it risking it showing up on my reddit page.

Hi all! I've searched high and low and I have yet to find a clear answer regarding the difference between acrylic ink and acrylic gouache (other than the obvious consistency).
I'm coming from the angle of adult colouring and want to expand my range of mediums. So I'll be using these to "colour" the pages (i.e. not for drip methods or abstract art etc)
My style is bold colours, and somewhat cartoony.
I've tried both, and once I dilute the gouache a bit I honestly can't tell the difference other than the ink seems a bit harder to clean out of my brushes and may dry faster (?).
I even mixed the two together to make some really cool colours.
I'm probably overthinking it, but I want to dedicate some time to excel at a single medium and can't decide which one will likely suit my purposes better in the long run.

EDIT TO ADD: because I'm printing the pages, I can't use heavy watercolour paper. So I'm typically using a mixed media paper or similar (around 60-90lb)

The page turn buttons are really what I'd be getting it for, and the Sage has always been a bit expensive for my liking.
I didn't expect Kobo to discontinue the Libra 2 on release of the Libra and Clara Colour (though they might still be releasing another black and white reader to complement the Libra, no idea).
The Libra 2 is still available though the numbers are dwindling, which is making me wonder if it's worth grabbing one.

If colour negative film is processed in conventional black and white developer, and fixed and then bleached with a bath containing hydrochloric acid and potassium dichromate solution, the resultant film, once exposed to light, can be redeveloped in colour developer to produce an unusual pastel colour effect.

I recently purchased a table from daals (https://www.daals.co.uk/products/maru-round-4-6-seater-extending-oak-pedestal-dining-table-oak)
Short story:
Company misadvertised the colour of the table in my opinion and it has turned up in two shades with one much darker than the pictures online. They won’t cover the cost of return and we’re looking at a £95 return cost for the two heavy boxes it comes in. Their support team have been useless.
Long story:
The photographs on the website make the table look like a light natural shade of wood. When the table arrived it was flat packed in two boxes and half of the pieces matched the images but half of them (including the table top) were a darker more orange colour. Not what we wanted.
I wrote back to the company expecting a pretty straight forward returns process but their support team were adamant that the product had not been misadvertised and that it was just a change of mind for us. I sent pictures with side by side shots of the different coloured parts that clearly showed the differences.
Everyone I have shown the different colours of the pieces to thinks it’s so obvious it isn't right and my friend who was a carpenter was convinced they'd sent parts from two separate tables.
Given the item doesn’t mention anywhere that the table comes in two colours and I followed the process for ‘Item not as described or advertised’ on their returns page (daals.co.uk/pages/returns-policy) I felt it was going to be straightforward.
After making no progress with their tactless and unhelpful support team is their anything I can do? Or does anyone know a specific ombudsman that can assist? It’s not a life changing amount of money but I know they can literally swoop in and pick the table up as they’ll be delivering stuff to people in my area every other day. The table itself has great reviews which might not be helping the situation either

Pros:
- The reader app that came with the device. I assume it's developed by the manufacturer. I know KOReader is the most popular reader app in the ereader community, but I personally found M7's reader app better. The UI is simpler than KOReader and easy to use, yet it still has all the functions you need. You can split double-page manga into single page and fit to the screen easily with just a few clicks. It can read all kinds of formats including zip files.
- Price. If you want an Android device but don't want to spend too much, this is the right device. Bang for the buck = M7. Best 7" Android device in the world = Boox Page.
- Android. Kindle is the most limited and Kobo is the second. Enjoy the freedom of customization with Android.

Cons:
- Screen. Compared to the most recent Kindle Paperwhite, the screen is less bright and has more blue light. Boox Page has better contrast. But you can overcome this after playing with screen configurations and make M7's screen pretty close to the competitors. You'll still notice a slight difference side-by-side though.
- Weight. Paperwhite and Page are both roughly 200g. M7 is close to 250g. 50g doesn't sound much but when you hold it in your hand you'll notice the difference.
- Limited speed when web browsing. You won't notice much speed difference when you read, load files, or navigate compared to Page. But if you have to read something that's on the web, you'll notice that M7 is slower and has a lot more ghosting compared to Page. This could be due to the limitation of the CPU as M7 uses Rockchip RK3566 and Page uses Snapdragon 662. Snapdragon 662 is about 150% faster. The manufacturer's software performance could be a factor as well.

Android 7" bang for the buck: M7
Android 7" best device: Page
7" best screen brightness and contrast (plus customer service): Paperwhite
7" color: Kobo Libra Colour

Page is the best choice for you if money isn't the issue. But if you don't want to spend too much, get M7. Kindle has good screen but is very limited. Then what about Kobo? Color eink screens have a filter that makes the screen lose DPI, contrast, and brightness. Kobo Libra 2 has more room for customization than Kindle but it is C$210 and M7 is C$227. I'd rather spend $17 and get Android.

Webflow slider built with swiper and gsap
Hi everyone, did another CMS slider. The original design is by Boba Ice cream. The recording butchers quality but you can see it live and here's the read only (boba slider page)
If you're going through the read only and wondering why some classes are named as they are, it's because I'm using one site for multiple sliders.
Some quirks and cool findings during the build: 1. The colour management was an interesting challenge because flavour colours are CMS-driven but some elements eg the rising wavy bg arent within the collection list yet they needed to match the colors of the active slide. So I created a hidden .color-picker element within the slide that had the CMS color applied as bg color and used JS to apply the .swiper-slide-active>.color-picker bg color to the wavy bg. Simple solution that I was proud of haha.

1. Swiper provides a TON of events. This is what makes swiper > splide imo. For example with swiper I could easily create animations for transitioning "next" and "prev" but with splide I'd have to write a script the checks whether youre going LTR or RTL. The timing with swiper events is also more precise.
   
2. A niche use case of the custom element would be dynamically changing svg colors using attributes. I abandoned the workflow that utilized this though. Planning to add it to another build. Cool discovery nonetheless.
   
3. Used to think loading screens were useless & silly, turns out they are a very good way of hiding FOUC which can be a lot of pain to deal with. I reduced FUOC as much as I could but there 's still a little bit when styling with JS*. If this was a hero section I'd probably use a very brief loader.
   

*The reason for styling with JS is so that the slider doesnt have to be touched again. Just add content to CMS and it works everytime.

Hi. Imagine a very simple set up, a book opened 180° on a table and being scanned by a phone from above, also 180° (usually just the necessary pages and not the whole book, but they can be still like 100+ pages at times). No extra programs, just normal photos.
I recently struggle heavily with especially modern scientific books. Their paper is not made of trees anymore, but they feel like thin plastic - the same material as most magazines are made of.
Those magazine-like pages have a heavily disgusting light reflection potential. How exactly could I configure the light (like angle and its strength) to reduce those reflections? (Post-processing to black and white isn't possible, since those books contain coloured images, so I want to keep the original colours as they are)
I already looked for setups, most of them are very professional and they have professional cameras etc. They also just use light on each page with desk-lamps. But it never looked like they are using special lens filters.
If there is no way to reduce reflection with basic methods (like angle and strength of light, or phone camera settings), then my last option would be Polarizing Gel. But if there were solutions without extra costs, I would prefer them.

It's a Bird is a 2004 Graphic Novel by Steven T. Seagle. It is about Seagle being offered writing duties on the Superman comic and his despair at this. You see Seagle doesn't identify with Superman. He hates him as a character who is perfect in literally every way and therefore unwritable. He's under a time limit before the comic is offered to other writers. The book is about how he came to find a window into understanding Superman through his own personal medical circumstances.
Sounds riveting right? Yep, just as it sounds. The artstyle is washed out colour and for at least the first 50 pages of a 132 page book, I was rather bored senseless as things seemed to be going nowhere.
And then there were a couple of pages which gave me a revelation. Mr. Seagle is an INTP and It's a Bird is, on the surface, about his struggles with Superman, but under the surface is a literal graphic representation of the INTP thought process.
I've written this out a few times and tried to link to images of the pages, and automod keeps deleting the posts, so I'm gonna have to do quotes of speech bubbles. Edit. Reddit formatting is a pain. Different scenes are separated by -------

Seagle: "One thing writers have in common is the need to procrastinate. People don't really understand this, but it's not avoiding work. It IS work."
Seagle's Girlfriend Lisa: "What's wrong? And Don't say 'Nothing' or I'll pour this on your receding hairline"
Seagle: "This... guy on the train... construction worker. He was asking me all these questions about comics. He was going on and on about justice and super heroes but he... he had no idea what he was talking about."
Lisa: "Wait, aren't you always complaining that no one is interested in comics anymore? This guy was interested but that's a problem too?"
Seagle: "This is the face I make... when Lisa repeats things I'd previously said to prove that what I'm saying now contradicts what I said before. Doesn't she understand that I'm trying to be depressed and angry? And that logic is only going to get in the way of that?"
"Why do you always side with the people I'm complaining about? I'm your well-educated boyfriend and this guy was a construction worker. He obviously doesn't..."

Lisa: Oh, so his opinion matters less because he works with his hands? Supposedly 'all men are created equal'. When did you get so superior?"

Seagle: "I... I... I'm going to stay at my brother's for a while."
Lisa: "What? You hardly even talk to your brother. Why? Wait are you saying you're moving out?"
Seagle: "I need quiet. I can't think here. I can't... work."
Lisa: "And the reason you can't work is me? Isn't it you who says "Ideas come from everywhere?" Everywhere but me I guess. You can't write Superman because I'm bothering you too much?"
Seagle: "Even Superman has his fortress of solitude"
Lisa: "Do not even start talking comic book crap to me as a justification for your lame behaviour."
Seagle: "What? It's the first thing I've related to about him... A place to go and just THINK. A place not to be badgered 24 hours a day by people who have to know everything about him."
Lisa: "I badger you? Asking if you're alright is having to know everything about...? You know what? You stay and I'll go."
Seagle: "I want to stop her... but her heartbreak is easier to accept than my own."
Seagle then stays in bed for weeks, ignoring all phone calls until everyone thinks he is dead.

Eventually Seagle does have a redemption arc, I won't spoil it but it does make the slog through the first half of the book somewhat worth it. In the grand scheme of things, the story of a writer overcoming writer's block really isn't worth much, but in terms of visualisation of the INTP thought process - especially for people who don't understand INTPs, this book is fucking gold. This should be on the bookshelf of all INTPs. Highly recommended. Especially to people with a Lisa in their life.

Thought I would share a behind-the-scenes of our studio website! All built over the course of months and years in Webflow, through lots of trial and error.
A few nice-to-haves that we're proud of:

• The 'project archive' at the bottom of the project pages feels wonderfully clean.
• The typography scales responsively, using lots of calc() to keep a consistent feel on the page.
• The homepage bento boxes are all separate divs, which means:
  
  • The content inside can be anything we want (lottie, videos etc)
  • The background colour of the bento boxes can be consistent (an off-black), without needing to figure out transparent videos.
  • CSS corners that are responsive on each box
  • We can reorder things however we like.
• Inside Webflow, we didn't get hung up on keeping things organised. We kept moving, built fast, made it work.
  
• No scroll-jacking ;)

I'm a newish Svelte / JS dev and I got to the below solution with the help of GPT. The below component works as expected, but it seems kinda hacky and like there should be a better way.
The below component displays a mockup of a shirt (with stock image from a remote API) and an emoji graphic overlaid on top of the stock image.
My two questions are about the two commented sections which handle the loading spinner for the stock image. The afterUpdate()stops the spinner going forever if you use the browser back button to return to the page.
I understand (I think) what all the below codes does, just seems like there's probably a better way to do this? Any tips appreciated.

Hey, I have approximately 20 Holo, and 300 varied Pokemon cards from the late 90s. From then until now they have pretty much remained in a cedar lined drawer in their starter game pack boxes, foil wraps and in the thick card sleeve/pages for binders. I've only held on to these because I haven't a clue on how best to go about selling them. Should they be sold in lots or singles or? What's their rating? How can I ensure that I won't get ripped off? What are they worth, I have seen the same cards selling for .69 cents and also selling for 1500.00? I have also seen like 10 grading levels, how does one figure this out? I'll just share some photos to give you all a slight idea of what all I have. I honestly don't know the game at all. I have these here because my family and I liked collecting the packets hoping for an elusive holographic Pokemon. When my son moved out he took a good portion with him (thanks for letting me know kid)! We also thoroughly enjoyed the little Pokemon characters cartoon back in the late 90s. I tweaked systemleftover's original image_to_gb program to allow images of any size to be returned at their true size instead of 160x144. For my own purposes this was done to allow me to draw complex backgrounds and sprites in Pixelorama with a full colour palette and then squash them to fit the tile limit of GB Studio and the general GB hardware limits.
The function is the same as the original, takes an image, crushes it to 4 colours and can limit unique tile count if preferred, 196 is the limit for GB games and 256 for GBC. Of course full credit goes to systemleftover and for general purpose "turning an image aesthetically into a gameboy style", use their program (and to respect the work they put in, the kofi link still goes to their page).
Considerations for use: the bigger the image, the chonkier it's gonna be on your browser, chop an image into smaller tiles (divisible by 8 for best results), and then stitch them back together in whatever graphics software you use.
I've only run a few tests but all worked fine, the limit of 256 tiles for an image I popped in got me an image with 255 tiles back that loaded in my rom with no issue. Obviously the bigger the image the more details you'll lose.
