No Brand Handsfree faucet not working - please help
I have this handsfree faucet that is not working correctly. When it tries to turn on, barely any water drips. When it releases water (1 out of 20 times) the water pressure is too high that it almost spills out from sink.
This was bought and installed by a contractor and there is no brand or markings on this. I am assuming it is a no name faucet bought off Amazon.
From my search online, it looks like solenoid might be an issue. Is that right? How do I find a replacement part?
Kids are small so it’s convenient for them to use this right now.

yellow liquid coming from nose—csf leak?
i’ve had clear liquid come out of my nose for years now and i always just chalked it up to allergies. i’m a bit of a hypochondriac so i have worried before if it was something else but never mentioned it to a doctor. this afternoon i laid down in bed after running errands and when i sat up this yellowish liquid started dripping from my nose, like a leaky faucet. not mucus-like at all, very much liquid. a relative who is a PCP said that if i get a headache or it starts up again (it went on dripping for about 20 mins and has since stopped for around an hour) to go to emergency for imaging, although she says it is most likely rhinitis and not CSF. any thoughts? also will mention that i had the onset of a sickness about a week ago with yellow mucus (like actual snot, not this liquid) but i didn’t actually get fully sick so i assumed my body fought it off early. thanks!

Where’s the leak?
Just closed on our house the other day. The kitchen faucet has a very slow drip that I’d like to fix. I know very, very little about plumbing, but my dad did teach me how to change a faucet cartridge (Thanks, Dad), so I could at least do that. However, I have no idea how one of these style faucets with the separate handle works. Is it likely that changing the cartridge in the handle part is going to stop the drip from the faucet part? Should we just buy a whole new faucet?

2024.05.13 14:14 AccomplishedRough949 Thinking of moving before my lease is over, if I still pay rent should I notify my landlord?

For context I’ve recently graduated and got a job. However, I’ve had a few mental breakdown and am unsure if I can continue living on my own and am looking to move back in with family. I’m hoping I can still do it but I’m exploring worse case scenario options. I don’t want to have a bad renters history from breaking my lease early but I can save up enough to pay the entire rent in full. Should I notify my landlord and try to break my lease or should I just continue paying rent every month while having a friend check on the place every once in a while (for content I live in Minnesota so I’d have them drip my faucets)

2024.05.13 00:46 Metaloidd11 Questions Regarding the Events Leading to my Cat’s Euthanasia

My cat aged (17.6) was euthanized yesterday (05/11) after essentially an over week long saga stemming from originally a routine dental extraction. On Tuesday 04/30 he went through a successful extraction dental of 3 teeth. Over the next couple of days he ate and drank minimally, but nothing too alarming for a cat just back from surgery. On Friday 05/03 we noticed he was more lethargic than expected at that point, and we took him in for a follow-up and they ended up cleaning out what was a bubbling infection (nothing too bad) and redid the suitures. They said he proably again wouldn’t eat for a day or 2 at most, and to simply make sure he drinks (he wasn’t dehydrated at all, and this cat loves to drink from the bathroom sink). He got put on Clyndomyesin (an antibiotic) and and a short acting opiate and we got sent home with the topical appetite enhancer Mirtaz. He doesnt eat or drink Friday. On Saturday 05/04 he eats about 6 or so bites really only at his dinner and lunch and begins drinking from a bowl and the faucet. After Saturday he did start drinking consistently and does make funmy mouth motions and funny sounds while drinking which is typical of a cat back from extractions.
On Sunday 05/05 he took about 26 bites some little some big and does show appetitiveness for his meals but was still very reluctant to open his mouth. The appetite enhancer doesnt seem to have any measurable effect. We are giving him his Clindomyosin in a syringe ground up with water and he really hates being syringe fed and we worry about hitting the sutures when the syringe is in his mouth.
Monday 05/06: Significantly less willing to eat. Only a few bites all day, but still fairly appetitive. We gave him syringes of food, as he still wpuldn’t willingly open his mouth except to drink water and even then only sips from the bowl or he lets the sink water drip in his mouth. He loves baked chicken from the store he goes crazy for it so we got that out and he did go crazy but when it came to actually eating pieces he wouldn’t do it.
On 05/07 we went in for a follow-up and they ran his numbers again. This is when we learned that despite his numbers being perfect just 4 days prior, his kidney numbers are now sky high in a few categories and he has acute kidney disease, (not the typical chronic kidney disease you see in old cats). The vet says that the AKD was likely caused by a bout of pancreatitis caused by the gas used during the anesthesia for his dental!!!!
He said that it would likely be reversible and that if not he could probably at least transition to chronic kidney disease (CKD) and be on the standard K/D diet supplemented with at home irrigation via subcutaneous fluids like many old cats. They decided to put him on IV for 2 days (he did come home at night where he wouldnt eat much) to really flush his kidneys and see if they could reverse it. When we would bring him home following a day of IV fluids we did start noticing the telltale signs of kidney issues like constant drinking and urinating, still no pooping or eating. On 05/09 they rechecked his numbers after his second IV day and there was no change in the numbers up or down. Which isnt a good sign after that much IV flushing, it meant we were just treading water. The vet said to give it another week and recheck the numbers again but this time get him on a K/D diet. He actually ate the K/D pretty well for breakfast on 05/10 but no other meals and he was noticeablly weaker physically. Interestingly although he felt bonier the vets said he still hadnt lost any weight so far through this whole ordeal, even though he still hadn’t eaten volintarily in a week, and at this point, we’re still syringe feeding and planning on changing out appetite enhancers from Mirtaz to Elura. He’d also taken to at-home subcutaneous irrigation very well. On 5/11 he still wasn’t eating and he’d also contracted a cold over the last few days so was sniffly and had some breathing trouble. Still alert but quickly goes downhill. He is falling over and yowling in distress or confusion. We decide to take hin down for potential euthanasia and to see if he’s in renal failure. It took a while at the emergency clinic for them to find veins and they said he was dehydrayed which indicates he was probably was in total renal failure since he should have been highly hydrated from all the fluids and drinking. We decided to go through with euthanasia.
This loss is particularly hard as this cat had been a part of my life for 15 years. My main question here, is has anyone heard of a sitation like this happening where the gas used during a dental leads to pancreatitis and subsequent Acute Kidney Disease? The vets all thought it would be highly reversible, and I know falling building syndrome, but still he went into renal failure so fast after 2 days of hardcore IV!!

Images: https://imgur.com/a/JnScNr9 https://imgur.com/a/RPK7UnK https://imgur.com/a/XArEtcc
My bathroom sink faucet has been dripping. It's the type with separate handles for hot and cold water, and I've established that the problem is with the hot water (the dripping stops when I close the hot water shutoff valve). I've been following these instructions to try to fix it. I believe it's a compression faucet so I'm trying to remove and replace the seat washer.
I was able to unscrew the handle and remove the whole assembly (see first picture), but I'm struggling to unscrew the stem from the bottom part (see second picture). I've been holding the bottom part using vice grips and using a crescent wrench on the top part.
I've tried using quite a lot of force but before I try harder (if I even can) I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Maybe it's corroded and that's why it won't turn?
Also, if I can't get it off, how would I go about finding a replacement part? Or should I just replace both handles? (see third photo for a photo of the handle). TIA!

Daily serving of microplastics at work
Everytime someone close dies of cancer, I try to make an improvement in my life against cancer - my thinking is that this is the only thing I can do against cancer. I also talk this out with everyone in my life, getting feedback. Yes, there are nay sayers who say that I have no proof for what I do, but here goes my latest after a coworker passed away last week:
I researched the water machines and coffee machines
at my work. Such machines probably exist in lives of all of us. These have plastic tubings and parts carrying extremely hot water. My worry is that the hot water increases leeching of microplastics into the water. There may be arguments that these plastics are BPA free, tested for carrying hot water, etc. but I am staying clear of them from now on. It is ok if we buy coffee made using these machines at starbucks once in a while, but at work we are using these daily as part of our lives ... There is also argument that even water at our homes is piped through plastic pipes, but I never use hot water coming from the faucets for drinking purposes anyway
In photos: waterlogic confirmed on phone that they have plastic tubes carrying hot water. The fancy cappuccino machine is regularly opened for cleaning, you can see the plastic tubes for yourself. The drip coffee machine guys have not replied to my email yet ...
Thoughts?

Is there any way these things could be connected? The neighbors below us in the townhome moved out recently and a maintenance guy has been working in there. Maybe he adjusted the main water valve?

Modified starch makes the access to oil and gas deposits easy! Drilling starch is a chemically modified variant of starch derived from Maize, Potato and Tapioca that plays a crucial cameo in the complex and challenging process of oil and gas drilling. It helps by controlling the viscosity and fluid properties of the mixture of fluids, solids and chemicals, combinedly called the ‘mud’; used for perforating, lubricating and helping move the broken rock out of the way while drilling.
The starch molecules absorb water and then work like a thick gel that sticks to the walls of the hole being drilled. This gel seals the walls, preventing the precious drilling fluid from leaking into the surrounding rocks. Think of it as a plug in a leaky faucet to stop the water from dripping out. This helps keep the drilling process efficient and prevents the loss of valuable drilling fluid.
Additionally, Drilling starch can also enhance the filter cake formation on the borehole walls, further reducing fluid loss by creating a more robust barrier against fluid migration.
As hydrocarbon exploration is becoming more challenging especially during drilling in ultradeep water and high temperature and high pressure formations, conventional drilling muds fail to be effective as the high temperature and pressure alters the rheological properties of the drilling fluid.
Bluecraft Agro offers an economic yet highly effective solution to this challenging and complex procedure. We produce three impressive starches that simplify the task of drilling oil and gas, namely, High temperature drilling starch (HTDS), Low temperature drilling starch (DS) and DRILFLO 1009TM Carboxymethyl Starch (CMS)
HTDS, is a modified starch based filtration control agent that meets all high temperature drilling requirements. Bluecraft’s HTDS will reduce filtrate in freshwater as well as saturated salt environment whilst not increasing the fluid viscosity. Our uniquely engineered modified starch ensures seamless functionality without compromising fluid viscosity, making it a reliable choice for applications in both Drilling Fluid and reservoir settings.

Battling Pests: A Guide to Rat and Mosquito Control in Los Angeles County – April 2024
Introduction: As spring blooms across Los Angeles County, so does the activity of some unwanted visitors: pests. Among the most common nuisances are rats and mosquitoes, which can not only be annoying but also pose health risks. In this guide, we’ll delve into effective strategies for controlling and preventing infestations of rats and mosquitoes in your home and community.
Understanding the Threats: Rats and mosquitoes are more than just annoying pests; they can carry diseases and cause significant damage to property.
Rats: Rats are known carriers of diseases such as leptospirosis, salmonellosis, and rat-bite fever. They can also cause structural damage to buildings by gnawing on wires, insulation, and wood.
Mosquitoes: Mosquitoes are notorious for transmitting diseases such as West Nile virus, Zika virus, and Dengue fever. They thrive in warm, humid environments and can breed in as little as a teaspoon of standing water.
Effective Control Strategies: Preventing and controlling rat and mosquito infestations requires a multi-faceted approach. Here are some effective strategies:
  1. Eliminate Sources of Food and Shelter: – Keep food stored in sealed containers and clean up spills promptly. – Seal off entry points to your home, such as gaps in walls, doors, and windows. – Trim overgrown vegetation and remove clutter from your yard to eliminate hiding spots for pests.
  2. Maintain Proper Drainage: – Ensure that gutters are clear of debris and drain properly to prevent water from pooling. – Fix any leaks or standing water sources, such as dripping faucets or air conditioner condensation.
  3. Use Pest Control Products: – Set up rat traps in areas where signs of rat activity are present, such as along walls and near food sources. – Use insect repellents and mosquito traps to reduce mosquito populations around your home. – Consider hiring professional pest control services for more severe infestations.
  4. Community Efforts: – Work with neighbors to address common pest control issues, such as maintaining shared spaces and reporting sightings of pests. – Participate in community clean-up events to reduce potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
Stay Informed: Stay informed about local pest control efforts and updates from Los Angeles County authorities. Be vigilant for any signs of pest activity in your area and take prompt action to address them.
Conclusion: As warmer weather arrives in Los Angeles County, it’s essential to be proactive in controlling and preventing infestations of rats and mosquitoes. By following these effective strategies and staying informed about pest control efforts in your community, you can help protect your home and family from the threats posed by these common pests. Together, we can make our neighborhoods safer and more pest-free this spring.

Potential water / pipe leak inside wall?
Hello,
I’ve included a video that may help. May have to turn it up a bit though.
We’ve noticed a dripping / tapping sound when turning on faucets on various floors, all in one part of a wall on the first and second floor. I have seen no indication of water damage over the past year since we moved in.
The sound you hear in the video is coming from a wall on the first floor, while a faucet on the second floor is running.
If not a leak, what else?
Thanks!

2024.05.08 14:15 dyenom After 15 years water hammering started

We bought a new washing machine about a month ago. A few days later we noticed water hammering. After doing some research and reaching out to the company we bought the washer from they replaced our washing machine w/ a new one, totally different brand. A few days later the same issue - when the washer was running we'd randomly notice water hammering in various places - fridge, toilet, kitchen sink.
Flash forward to this week and here are a few notes:
I'm leaning an intermittent pressure issue after today's events. We've called the plumber back and will reach out to our utility company. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Hello All,
I recently removed the flow restriction valve that was installed between the water supply line and the supply valve on my bathroom sink as the water from was horrible.
After, I tried to re-install the faucet supply line to the supply valve but no matter how hard I tightened, there was water drips. Looking at the inside of the 3/8" female connection, I don't see any rubber seal.
Any advice for stopping the leak? Is it even possible to purchase the seal for the inside of a 3/8" faucet supply hose?

I have what I think is moderate bladder leakage. I actually don’t even feel it leaking it just appears. It’s like a slowly dripping faucet. Been really struggling with the smell. Went up from a poise pad to something with more absorbency. The pad doesn’t get anywhere near capacity but somehow it leaks out at my thighs. The pads don’t even look like there is urine on them. Does urine stain pads yellowish? If it didn’t smell like pee I’d swear it was sweat.

2024.05.08 00:08 fulltime-dad Water Damage in Second Floor Bathroom

I am reaching out to seek urgent assistance regarding a water-related issue in our home.
Unfortunately, my son (5) inadvertently left the faucet running in our second-floor bathroom, resulting in water leakage. Upon discovering the problem, we promptly turned off the water, but not before water had seeped through the ceiling air vent in the kitchen below.
Despite our efforts to dry everything, water is still dripping from the air vent, causing concern, particularly for my wife who fears the onset of mold and its potential risks to our safety.
In light of this situation, we are seeking guidance on whether an extensive repair, such as replacing the sheetrock, is necessary, or if the water will eventually evaporate without further intervention.
Any advice or assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

2024.05.07 23:11 Cr4nkY4nk3r Simple sink faucet install - what am I doing wrong?

So we're redoing the bathroom, and we installed new flooring, painted the top half of the walls, installed beadboard, and a new vanity. Time to install the sink and faucet.
Sink install went fine, had to connect the drain with some low-profile thing from Ikea, so the drawers from the vanity would clear.
Installed the faucet today... and now I'm doubting my ability to function as a grown up human in polite company.
I installed the faucet on the sink, connected the water lines, and turned the water on. A flood of black water came out of the faucet, for about 10 seconds, then clear water. The water pipes are old in this house - after a period of not being used, this is something that we're used to.
Then the clean water stopped. Now, the faucet will just slowly drip.
It's a relatively simple install... turn off valves, disconnect the old water supply tubes, uninstall faucet, install faucet, connect new tubes, turn on valves.
I know for a fact that I'm not missing any of those six steps - I've swapped out faucets before. What other possible steps could I be missing?!?!?
