JT Paintball Refillable CO2 Bottle - Thread Type - Regulator
Hi everyone, I want to use this JT Paintball Refillable CO2 Bottle (24 oz) I bought from Canadian Tire for use with my aquarium. But I was hoping to add a regulator to it before connecting to the diffuser. From the manual, I cannot seem to find what type of thread it is and was hoping you could assist me with this. Is it a G 1/2 - 14 thread?

Easy peazy bubbly
So sick of the tiny tanks and finally decided it was time. Work's like a dream. 20 lb CO2 tank from our local welding shop: $200. Refills are $30. Hardware was $40. Looking forward to not refilling the tank for a few months! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L795VRB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

2024.05.13 23:48 bubbawhyy Just curious if anyone has recommendations for a place to refill a 5lb co2 tank?

I've checked out the results on Google maps & they seem decent, I guess I'm just curious if the community knows of any better (cheaper) spots that might be lesser known. Thanks

2024.05.13 18:16 Jo3ltron CO2 System for Small Tank

I'm newer to the hobby and currently about to finish my cycle on a 6 gal. My original plan was to not do CO2, but I'm really thinking I want to move forward with it to have a healthy and beautiful, heavily planted tank. I've been doing a ton of research and I think I'm at an impasse on what I should go with and was hoping for some advice...
With that said, I'm having trouble figuring out what CO2 tank/solution to go with, given I have VERY limited space. I know the easy answer is "just invest in a 20lb tank and swap at AirGas!", but that is out for me, as this is a desktop setup with very little room to work with. Even a 5lb tank would be too big for my setup goals, and would require a cabinet/storage solution under my desk.
In the interest of size and available space, I'm planning on using the UN Mini DS for my regulator as it's dual stage and seems to have good reviews with a lot of configuration options out of the box.
Options:
  1. Disposable 95g Cartridges - Listed to last about 2 months each. Seems expensive and wasteful, but the smallest footprint option. I hate that this seems to be the easiest option for a small tank for those reasons but it being so small is a huge plus
  2. Paintball Canisters - Seems impossible to find anywhere to have these actually refilled. Most shops seem to only refill at minimum, 5lbs tanks, then the same for swaps, has to be 5lbs. Paintball shops and stores deal mostly with compressed air, instead of actual CO2 so I'm not even sure how these can be a feasible option with refills being so difficult to find (as well as swaps).
  3. DIY Kit - I don't believe this is for me due to maintenance needs and lack of solenoid options as I would want to go with something like the Fluval Bio CO2 kits for aesthics
  4. 5lbs Tank - Last option as it would require me to move my entire office setup around to accommodate the tank. It's the easiest to refill, but I would imagine it would last years with a 6gal tank, so the ease of refill is pretty much lost as a pro for this option. I know they have 2.5lb tanks but I imagine this would be similar to the paintball canister issue where it would be tough to even get it refilled.
Does anyone have any opinions or experience on what might be the best/easiest given my small tank and space?

2024.05.13 13:50 majsterDrejc Upgrading from a 120l (30g) to a 400l (100g) tank

I'm playing with the idea to upgrade to a much bigger tank. From 120l (30g) to 350-450l (100g) range.
What do I need to consider before making the decision, what equipment and gear is needed ?
Now obviously:
What am I not considering because it is not needed on a smaller tank?

2024.05.12 19:15 AdInternational9061 cO2 refilling for Sodastream?

2024.05.12 16:25 judgementalshrubbery I don't really understand how buying and refilling CO2 cylinders works. Can someone explain like I'm 5?

I have a 55 gallon that needs CO2. I was avoiding it for a while but I don't think anything else is going to help my plants thrive. They're competing for nutrients and the reds are dying off, and bba is slowly taking over. I'd like to get CO2 going asap. I hear it's smart to get a 20lb cylinder and refill it. Where can I do this that is affordable?

2024.05.08 19:54 GTAinreallife Co2 leaking after bottle refill

Im super confused. My co2 bottle was empty last sunday and I had my bottle refilled today. So my system was off for 3 days. I use the advanced regulator from JBL that has a magnet valve as well.
I came home, hooked up my bottle as usual and opened it to instantly hear massive leaks. I can feel co2 escaping around the connection between the bottle and the regulator. Bottle is at 55 bar, and the regulator showed 1.8 bar on the second meter. I tried my spare bottle and the same issue, so I draw the conclusion that the regulator somehow is broken.
Ive never had this happen before. If I let the bottle open, I can see a tiny bit of co2 reach the aquarium but obviously like 99% is going into the room. The threads on both the regulator and bottle dont have any rubber rings. If I blow on my regulator, I can feel air escape around the thread. But its all metal, so Im confused how it can leak suddenly. It worked fine 3 days ago.
Anyone have some solutions I can try to fix it before I blow out 200 euros for a new regulator?

2024.05.07 07:09 Practical_Sense_7527 Co2 system for beginners

Co2 system for beginners
Got massive amount of stem plants from my mate, which was grown in co2 injected tank. I am thinking to upgrade my tanks to be co2 injected too but I have multiple tanks ( 3x 25L) and also thinking to upgrade to a bigger tank in the future
What's your guys take on which co2 system should I choose? For the most budget friendly route, might get the sugar yeast method but most people said that it is not too reliable. I have a deal on facebook marketplace for a brand new full co2 setup for $450 AUD. But if I bought that I don't have anymore budget for my other tanks. (Also upgrading the lighting from my current cheap nobrand light)
Alternately I can buy second hand regulator for around $120 AUD and buying a co2 tank from a local brewery $60 for 2.6kg with a $25 refill. This way I can have 2 setup for my budget
Should I use the sugar yeast system instead? Is it worth to try? As I don't want to kill anything in my tank

2024.05.07 01:25 anxiolyticbrainchild How can you be sure that it's food-grade CO2 in your sodastream refill?

I recently bought a sodastream and noticed that after purchasing a refill cartridge at my local Target, the water had a weird smell almost rotten smell to it after I used that new cartridge, especially after I let it sit for a bit after carbonation. I am getting a hunch that these refills are not using food grade CO2. Can anyone verify that they're using food grade CO2 at these refill spots like Target and Walmart?

2024.05.05 09:56 Reasonable-Put8121 Algerian welders, what are the regulations and laws for purchasing Argon and Oxygen gas cylinders in Algeria?

I'm taking on a welding project using Mig & Mag processes as well as TIG potentionally. I have questions if there are welders among us. Can anyone legally buy AND refill gas cylinders of Argon, CO2 and O2? Is there paperwork required?
EDIT: Before you ask, I know I can weld using stick; I don't want to.

2024.05.05 03:26 SmugAlpaca I have a dilemma - my kitchen may need a BDS

Hello most moral fellow bad hasbaristas,
I'm genuinely having a bit of a moral quandry here, and I seek the guidance of our most moral community to provide advice. A friend recently gifted me a Sodastream E-Terra, as they know my penchant for crushing entire 8 packs of Polar in a day. Yeah okay we're working on it.
I'm genuinely ashamed of having the thing in my house. I shamefully carbonate my water, and refer to it as "the Zionist entity in the kitchen." When friends come over, I put it into a cabinet. I view it like smoking a cigarette on a playground.
This isn't healthy, but they built this thing using exploited labor in the occupied West Bank, so it genuinely upsets me. I bought a competing system and it's sitting in the box from Amazon - I don't want to waste the money personally, but it's $120, and I've paid more to feel better about myself. On environmental grounds, I don't think it's responsible to junk something like this that's been used for 2 weeks, even if it was manufactured using basically slave labor.
What do I do? Do I donate this? Keep it? I've already replaced the CO2 canister and I'll never use the Sodastream refill function - there's a US-based Michigan company that does the exact same service and it's no more money flowing to Israel. The damage on the purchase is already done, but what's the ethical way of approaching this? And what do I do with it?

2024.05.05 01:56 Effendoor Anywhere that can refill small CO2 cannisters?

Anyone know if there's a place around Portland that can refill CO2 canisters at a reasonable price?
My wife got me a sodaStream a little bit ago and their replacement plan involves me sending in to used canisters to get two free ones and as far as I can tell costs $40. That seems expensive for some spicy air, So I figured I'd check to see if anybody knew a local resource I could draw on before defaulting to that option.

2024.05.02 21:08 Unbreakable_strength CT idea: cosmic champion

Cosmic Champion
Cursed Technique
-Innate Technique: Able to channel the power of the nine greek gods that represent the planets in our solar system (+pluto) through a special chalice. each has unlimited time but also has a unique summon condition and effect. The chalice requires a special ingredient be put in it to utilize each power (every ingredient then turns into a special juice with color unique to the god/planet [you dont actually have to consume the "special ingredient"]). Here are the benefits of each planet:
*basically the formula for each one is: what power it grants, a one time aoe on summon, and the what is needed in the chalice to get said power*
Mercury/Hermes: Super speed, but just for running. On summon it creates a loud crash sound effect. The special ingredient is snapped a feather.
Venus/Aphrodite: give an ally continually refilling CE (not infinite). On summon it makes the the user and ally indestructible (for like 2 seconds). The special ingredient is intended target to spit in the chalace.
Earth/Gaia: user can shoot rocks from their body in any shape or direction, but they have to absorb material from the ground through touch. On summon it causes a localized earthquake. The special ingredient is a broken rock.
Mars/Ares: sprout two ethereal arms that autoblock attacks. On summon it creates spears that shoot out of the ground around the user. The special ingredient is blood.
JupiteZeus: throwing summoned lighting bolts. On summon it hits user with lighting bolt (shazam). The special ingredient is touching the cup to something that will shock it.
Saturn/Kronos: Can move enemies or self back through their actions in time (no heals). On summon it shoots a pulse from user that freezes things in place momentarily. The special ingredient is any device that represents time (i.e. clock, watch, hourglass, pendulum)/a broken part directly from a device that represents time.
Uranus: Able to create illusions (not too crazy) that fade on hit. On summon it tornado widens then disperses from user. The special ingredient is high contrentrations of CO2 (light a fire).
Neptune/Poseidon: the ground becomes the ocean figuratively, and the user can summon any fish to swim in the ground and obey commands. On summon it pours out waves of water from user like what choso did with blood. The special ingredient is water.
Pluto/Hades: invisibility including CE (only when not making cntact) + auto soul damage. On summon it explodes fire from the user. The special ingredient is a piece of a corpse (i.e. bone. flesh, etc).
-RCT: N/A
-Domain Expansion (Mount Olympus Jubilation): HAND SIGN(S): index pointed high, middle half bent, ring on side of thumb, and pinkie also half bent. DOMAIN ENVIRONMENT: on top of mount olympus with space background with all the planets. SURE-HIT: elemental attacks + each god with their respective abilities and others that they have in mythology (uranus with actual wind).
-Maximum (solar allignment): the user channels the powers of helios and starts to radiate light + glowing eyes, they're super hot and everything they touch melts + general buffs + light laser beams. On summon they glow so bright that they light up a couple square blocks. All special ingredients are required.
_________________________________________
Weaknesses
-The powers CANNOT be used at the same time, a previous power is lost when using another.
-if the special juice falls out of the chalice before drinking it then it loses its power
-utterly useless without any of the special ingredients, even if some are easier to find
_________________________________________
Strategies
-switch abilities as fast as possible to throw off enemy, also to abuse their summoning effects
-if out of special ingredients, use chalice as weapon
_________________________________________
Questions for improvement
-is Uranus's power good as illusions, or would it be better as wind manip?
-Should Hades be pyromancy + soul damage instead?
-what would be better summoning rituals/requirements for the abilities?
-Should the abilities be so varied? or should they all be along the same lines of enhancement or causing an effect (like is it fair that hades is a shikigami/does it make sense, do they even flow well together)?
-would it be useful if others could drink from the chalice?
