2024.05.14 01:57 Fantastic_Move_6370 Parting advice from a master commenter - must read

In going through the most recent comments from one of this sub's all-time greats, I found this from 2 days ago. To anyone who has recently found themselves here, please read and research anything you aren't familiar with. THANK YOU KING.
"What you are experiencing is pretty normal. The shock can be emotionally overwhelming, so denial/bargaining trauma responses tend to be very common coping mechanisms.
You're also likely experiencing the effects of trauma bonding. These behave similarly to a drug addiction, so you're now experiencing the withdrawals that junkies go through when trying to go cold turkey.
Due to the extreme emotional high and lows you experienced with him, you ended up developing a chemical dependency on that clown.
So take time and space to purge these emotions. Spend time with trusted friends and family. And if you can, work with a good therapist specialized in abuse/trauma.
You may also need to explore where your strong codependent/avoidant traits are coming from. As that may be something you need to address in order to heal and allow yourself to experience a healthy and prosperous life, that you right now are denying yourself of by being so emotionally attached to your abuser.
Take good care of yourself in the mean time. Sorry you have been put in this situation."

2024.05.14 01:51 Simonbargiora Conversation with Bing

Anyone with a medical background How accurate is this?

Is there any chemicals in the dead cities that can be used for medicinal purposes in the above scenario? (dead cities, survivors left them when food ran out to the smaller areas, gasoline ran out and electricity was taken out removing power for the stuff in the cities, the function of cities remained however machines were full of every kind of valuable chemical, metal, even sewage to use as fertilizer, and machines, buildings could be demolished for concrete and all the machines every part could be repurposed for a different purpose cars put to their individual machanical components every part of a house taken apart surgically, the dead cities provided resource extraction to last indefinitely and cities ripped by thousands of workers, with 4 million survivors out of a 50 million pre war population supply exceeded demand)Copilot
In the scenario you’ve described, where survivors have left the cities to find resources elsewhere, the abandoned urban areas could indeed become treasure troves of materials for various uses, including medicinal purposes. Here’s how chemicals and other materials from the dead cities might be repurposed:
  1. Medicinal Plant Compounds:
  2. Pharmaceuticals:
    • Any remaining pharmaceuticals could be salvaged and repurposed. However, their efficacy and safety would need to be carefully considered due to potential degradation over time.
  3. Industrial Chemicals:
    • Certain industrial chemicals found in machinery or laboratories could have medicinal properties. For example, ethanol from industrial or research facilities could be used as a disinfectant.
  4. Metals for Medical Tools:
    • Metals from machinery and buildings could be melted down and reshaped into medical tools such as scalpels, tweezers, and other surgical instruments.
  5. Sewage as Fertilizer:
    • Treated sewage could be used as fertilizer to grow medicinal plants, creating a sustainable cycle of resource use.
  6. Repurposing Vehicle Components:
    • Parts from vehicles could be used to build medical equipment. For example, car batteries might power makeshift medical devices, and lenses from vehicle lights could be used in medical diagnostics.
  7. Building Materials for Clinics:
    • Concrete and other building materials could be used to construct clinics and hospitals where medical care can be provided.
  8. Chemical Reagents:
    • Chemical reagents from abandoned laboratories could be used for medical testing and research to develop new treatments.
In this scenario, the key to utilizing these resources would be a deep understanding of chemistry, medicine, and engineering. The survivors would need to be innovative and cautious, ensuring that any repurposed materials are safe and effective for medical use. The transformation of these materials into medicinal resources would be a testament to human resilience and adaptability in the face of adversity. 🌱🔬
1link.springer.com2listverse.com3link.springer.comYouwhat are some industrial chemicals found in machinery or laboratories could have medicinal properties and where can they be found?Copilot
In the context of machinery and laboratories, several industrial chemicals that could have medicinal properties include:
  1. Ethanol: Commonly used as a solvent and cleaning agent, ethanol also serves as a disinfectant and antiseptic in medical settings1.
  2. Glycerol: Found in machinery as a lubricant, glycerol is used in pharmaceutical formulations to improve smoothness and provide lubrication1.
  3. Hydrogen Peroxide: Used for bleaching or cleaning in industrial settings, it’s also an effective antiseptic for treating wounds1.
  4. Acetic Acid: While used in the production of synthetic fibers and plastics, it has applications as an antifungal agent1.
  5. Isopropyl Alcohol: A solvent in manufacturing processes, it’s also used for disinfecting skin before injections1.
These chemicals can be found in various industrial and laboratory settings, including chemical manufacturing plants, research facilities, and places where machinery maintenance occurs. In a post-apocalyptic scenario like the one described in “Threads,” survivors might find these chemicals in:
It’s important to note that while these chemicals have medicinal properties, they must be used with caution. Proper knowledge of their handling and application is crucial, especially in a scenario where professional medical advice and facilities are scarce. 🏭🔬
can post attack chemistry extract these chemicals from any objects?Copilot
In a post-attack scenario, extracting useful chemicals from various objects would be a crucial survival skill. Here’s how survivors might go about it:
  1. Ethanol Extraction:
    • Ethanol could be extracted from alcoholic beverages or fermented materials. Distillation setups using basic equipment like pots, tubes, and heat sources could be improvised to purify ethanol.
  2. Glycerol Recovery:
    • Glycerol is a byproduct of biodiesel production, which can be made from used cooking oils. It can also be recovered from soap-making processes.
  3. Hydrogen Peroxide Production:
    • Hydrogen peroxide can be synthesized through various chemical reactions, including the electrolysis of water or by reacting barium peroxide with sulfuric acid, if available.
  4. Acetic Acid (Vinegar):
    • Acetic acid can be obtained from the fermentation of fruit juices or other sugary solutions. The process would require oxygen and time for vinegar bacteria to convert ethanol into vinegar.
  5. Isopropyl Alcohol:
    • Isopropyl alcohol can be found in cleaning products or medical supplies. It could also be synthesized through the hydration of propene, which might be sourced from fuel or chemical storage facilities.
Survivors would need to have knowledge of chemistry and access to some basic laboratory equipment or be able to improvise with available materials. Safety would be a paramount concern, as chemical extraction processes can be dangerous without proper precautions and equipment123.
In such a scenario, the ability to adapt and innovate with available resources would be essential for survival and recovery. 🧪🔬

2024.05.14 01:51 LeastInterestings Why do parents let their kids buy energy drinks?

I've seen it first hand when I was younger that they were just casually drinking energy drinks. I even bought Monster for the very first time when I was like 16 or something. If you didn't know this before, energy drinks impact Heart Health and cause a whole host of problems such as heart palpitations. Then people say "Well how is it any different than soda?" I don't know if they're stupid or what. I don't drink soda but energy drinks are about 50x worse, especially with the chemicals they constantly add that no one even bothers learning about them. What the fuck is is L-tyrosine? Do you actually expect anyone to do research on these weird fucking chemicals?

2024.05.14 01:34 WorkingSoft2894 Morgellons Agenda Information

In the mid-nineties we began to see strange formations in long rows of “clouds” globally. Despite attempts at overthrow and Roswell -type deviations , cloud seeding by various high-ranking military and aviation groups, it became clear since 2000 that CHEMTRAILS were a real and tangible phenomenon.
Cliff Carnicom gives 7 possible reasons for this aerosol spraying end game. As with many dot-omega systems, we are unable to reduce this to a singular cause or a binary choice. Chemtrails are a covert, high - level black project , and as we've said elsewhere, it's one they've kept under lock and key for a decade. These include:
HAARP -related stratospheric communication
ELF Waves communication
plasma and ionization
military techniques for pan-optical vision
a method of tracking and/or interrupting UFO visits
population reduction through toxins etc.
Only a spate of chemtrails found over the years were various forms of fibers, tubes and fungi. Until recently, what this did to humans was not known. This could have changed and the consequences are bizarre.
LINKING CHEMTRAILS, NANO TECH, MORGELLONS :
The pseudo-illuminoids bring a precursor to the final deception in the possible form of a hyper-agent sent decades ahead, as usual: in plain sight.
Or could it be that the aerosol spraying link is not yet fully established? We can suggest this if we go back to one of the main statements made by a bio-chemist from within the establishment, who came out and spoke on the subject.
He stated in an interview about Project Shield that to prevent UV rays from penetrating the ecosystem – that these same trails were part of the plasma base that supports the metal particles used in aerosol spraying. .
CHIMERA – SILICONE BASED BIO-DATA TERMS, REACHING THE NERVOUS SYSTEM NEAR YOU.
The NANO BUG HAS different kinds of INTELLIGENCE, including what microbiologists call 'quorum sensing' – essentially this means that the cells communicate at a non-local [or hive] level. This element of things is supported by personal experience in diseases where individuals observed that fibers responded in bizarre ways to various environmental inputs. For example – the 'organism' will climb out of a bleach solution within a few hours, if given a method of escape.
It is interesting that few people, even the so-called left field research area on the ground, are prepared to confront just what this agent could be. Once you invest time understanding even basic biology and biological warfare weaponry, you can only conclude that it exists outside of any consensual philosophy.
Investigation of Morgellons and Chemtrails – Local Audio
– IT IS CLEAR THAT WITHIN THE GOVERNMENT OR RATHER THOSE WHO "PULL THE STRINGS" HAVE ABSOLUTELY KNOWINGLY AND DELIBERATELY CREATED AND UNLEASHED THIS SITUATION FOR REASONS ONLY THEY KNOW ,BUT IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT IT IS JUST A PART OR CONTINUING PIECE OF THERE GRAND NEFARIOUS AGENDA.
Watchdog organizations of diseases through the boards HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS.
“I can also assure you that this infectious agent is rather a slow , SLOW but very dangerous one, and everything will become a primary issue.
Doing some creative background work allows us to conclude the following:
The agent IS NOT COAL BASED – that is, it is a leap beyond anything we could currently be aware of.
The agent, when mapped at a macro level, has intelligence, binding within the host's DNA/RNA signals.
Due to the fact that the agent can remain dormant in humans – it is entirely possible that large numbers of the population are already carriers.
CASES OF MORGELLONS HAVE BEEN RECORDED ON EVERY CONTINENT EXCEPT THE ARCTIC.
The fact that there is evidence that the spores ** that produce this agent are being 'seeded' via aerosol sprays – which we already know happens on every continent – of course changes the whole game. The Spanish Influenza, which was based on the current “bird flu” and coded H1N1, which killed millions at the end of World War I, apparently leaked from a US military laboratory.
THE CANISTECHEMICAL/AEROSOL PRODUCTION IS IN FACT, DONE UNDER A BLIND SYSTEM, SO THAT EACH COUNTRY/AREA CANNOT KNOW WHO IS RECEIVING THAT.
This was intended to prevent exactly the kind of nightmare scenario that is occurring, which we may be facing now: namely, one of the parts implementing additional movement systems, of a global environmental control system to the bio-warfare and genetic manipulation.

2024.05.14 01:28 OkNatural5037 Does anyone else’s bunnies prefer home grown greens/plants?

Does anyone else’s bunnies prefer home grown greens/plants?
So I have five bunnies. Usually I would feed them store bought greens. Such as; Lettuce, celery, Broccoli, cabbage, and other vegetables. But sometimes when times would get tough, I would go out and forage for them. After doing some research on what plants I have in my backyard, I gave them a huge mountain of home grown greens/plants that were safe for them. Which they immediately devoured. And today, we ran low on hay. And could only go tomorrow, as the store was closed. So I went outside, and hand plucked an untied bucket full of grass. (untouched by chemicals.) And they immediately started devouring that too.
I’ve begun to notice they much prefer our home grown foods, rather than store bought. Is anyone else’s bunnies this way?

2024.05.14 00:21 OkLemon1393 New to HSV.. It’s got my emotions all over the place.

I am currently healing from what I believe is my first outbreak. I was having issues originally and I thought I might be having a yeast infection. So I decided for the first time in my life to try Monistat 1 instead of 3 like I have in the past. Within the next day I was having burning like I had cuts or something down there, looked like little tears. I thought maybe a chemical burn or allergic reaction maybe. Day or so goes by I went to the ER because the pain was unbearable and I felt like I had a fever and I am currently out of state (in the back of my head I believed it was hsv because of all the googling I had done but I wanted conformation). I told the dr what I was having issues with and all they did was an internal swab, for chlamydia, and gonorrhea, yeast , bv, etc all besides hsv. Which is what I asked for to begin with. After they come back with the majority of the tests, they prescibe me with antibiotics for a uti, okay cool. Yes this was good but I also wanted testing on my sores. I ask for herpes testing, and they do a blood test : (came back negative).. at the time (week and a half ago) I wasn’t as knowledgeable on the subject as I am now so I left without making them do a swab, which I feel as if isn’t my fault but maybe it was. They gave me two day dose of antivirals and my paper work said oral herpes which left me so confused and still no conclusion, meanwhile my sores are so bad I can’t walk, sit, move, pee. I felt really annoyed to say the least. Fast forward two days I decide to go to urgent care, where the dr finally took a swab, and prescribed me 10 days of antivirals and said it looked like hsv as did the dr before. Now it is a week later I’m almost healed and I get word that my swab was “not the right temperature to test” and I am still left with no results and no way to do another swab as I am pretty much healed and I am so frustrated.
My fiancé and I have talked about this and have done research ourselves. He is supportive and loving.
He is the only person I’ve been with in the past year and we have only been sleeping together for two months, and since my blood test came back negative it makes me think he gave it to me.? He has never had symptoms or known which as I’ve found out is very common. Is it worth getting him tested? Is that the only way I’ll find out if I’m positive unless I have another outbreak relatively soon?
I’m pretty emotional in the not completely knowing. Though I know my relationship is solid, the lack of intimacy is taking a tole on me. Emotionally and the unknown of what this means for our sex life as well. My fiancé says I shouldn’t live in fear because I don’t know for sure, but I feel like I should obviously still be careful.
I guess I’m just venting and maybe looking for advice.

Theoretical/Computational Physics PhD Chances
Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. I would like to ask current and former theoretical/computational physics graduate students and those with admissions committee experience for their thoughts on my chances at getting into the graduate programs in theoretical physics listed above. I plan to apply for PhD at all beside Zurich which I believe I will need to apply for masters before going on to PhD.
Here is some information about myself for context:
-I am a student at a top 20 US university.
-I will graduate at the end of the Spring 2025 semester with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry, one in Chemical Physics, and a third in Biophysics.
-I have completed about 2000 hours of research in molecular biology at a highly ranked biomedical research institution outside of my home university. I don’t have any publications from this time just yet, but over the next couple of years I should be included on several.
-I am embarking on a senior thesis this summer in protein dynamics which will span the next three semesters (summer, fall, spring).
-I want to focus on simulation and computational modeling of chemical and biochemical systems in graduate school and beyond. I expect that the exact focus of my efforts will evolve throughout graduate school, which I very much look forward to. I also look forward to graduate coursework in physics. I’m itching to dig deeper.
-My GPA is 3.43/4 right now, and I believe it will go up slightly over the next couple semesters. Probably not above 3.5.
-I have not taken the GRE and don’t necessarily plan to unless someone has a compelling argument for why I should. None of the schools I’m interested in require it, although a couple recommend it.
-I expect to have quite good letters of recommendation from my molecular biology PI of almost two years, my biophysics PI, and a former Dean of Undergraduates who taught me general and physical chemistry.
-There is more to my story that will undoubtedly play a role in the application process (I started university as a music performance major, discovered a love of theoretical/computational physics later in my studies, upward trend in GPA, studied music at boarding school in high school and had no real prior experience with science classes when beginning university, etc. etc.) but I think this should suffice for the purposes of this post. If I have left anything out that you would like me to include, please let me know :).
I have attached a list of schools I plan to apply to. I would really appreciate if some people with experience on admissions committees could comment on my chances at getting into different programs. Also, if you go to one of these schools or have anything you would like to contribute, please don’t hesitate. Advice for how to strengthen my application is welcome as well as recommendation to add to my school list. THANK YOU!!!

2024.05.13 22:14 Zujarx This OIT program looks really nice but is there a catch?

This OIT program looks really nice but is there a catch?
This is in Oregon. I've heard other states start below $20. But I'm confused, are they stating that the person would be earning $32.38/ hour after 12 months of OIT or is that for people who are currently 12 months in their training? Because 12 months from now would be 2025. Or do they put the year 2024 because of what's currently the wage and could change/ increase in 2025 if the minimum wage increases within the city?
Is the pay worth it? Does the pay increase after 5-10+ years? I've heard people starting with a low pay as an operater but then quickly earning close to 6 figures after some years. Is this true and possible? Yes I know depending on the plant and location.
They're only asking for a high school diploma.
I've heard something about being certified before being an OIT? What's the difference between a certification versus OIT? I can't remember what certification it is but someone mentioned it when I researched.
The waste water industry looks very promising based on the research I've done and what I've read and heard from people's experiences. Yes I know there are pros and cons and not every plant is the same yet the waste water industry seems very good once you start gaining experience.
I also heard that after some years and positions, you can branch out to other similar industries. I can't remember what they were but this also caught my attention for future opportunities. I think chemical plant was one of them?
What should I expect with this program and in the future once I work full time if it gets there?
Thank you in advance everyone!

2024.05.13 21:12 Hanna-Yeen Mtn dew kick start

So, I am back with more research I've done. Please remember I am not a doctor, this is not medical advice, or any kind of medical recommendation. As a caffeine addict previous to pregnancy, I used to drink a monster or a Red Bull every day. But I have found that monsters have a chemical additive that can potentially cause birth defects. So I dropped both energy drinks and have been suffering without them. I went on a search to find a new source of caffeine for my addiction. I looked into kickstarts. I researched each and every ingredient individually for safety during pregnancy in food level quantity. And according to research done on every ingredient that has been done in the last 18 months every ingredient has been deemed safe by the FDA, and shows no indication of fertility or fetal harm. I'm just putting this out here for other moms who have been suffering without their caffeine fix and have been worrying that they're going to harm their baby by drinking a monster. I hope this helps someone else who's looking for their fix.

2024.05.13 20:09 Imaginary-Green1497 Career Transition from Chemical Engineering to commodity trading

Hi All, I'm an aspiring full-time trader with a background in chemical engineering and experience in Excel data analysis. For the past two years, I've been successfully day trading commodities and forex. Now, I'm eager to transition into trading as a career and considering pursuing a master's degree in the UAE, known for its prominence in commodity and energy trading. However, I'm struggling to find a program specifically tailored to this field. The options seem to be limited to finance or banking degrees, with Middlesex University offering a more budget-friendly option. While researching, I came across an advanced diploma in commodity trading at the University of Geneva, but I'm unsure if it would adequately prepare me for a career in Switzerland. I'm seeking advice on alternative universities in the UAE or elsewhere that offer relevant programs with a similar fee structure, as well as insights on whether pursuing a diploma in Geneva would be beneficial for my career goals.

I'm an aspiring full-time trader with a background in chemical engineering and experience in Excel data analysis.

2024.05.13 19:13 killerwheelie Please roast! I need all the help I can get! Thanks!

Trying to get a new job in either program management or product management! I have been applying to a ton of jobs and not hearing a ton back. I’m currently in the medical device industry but open to others. There is some conflicting timelines from my experience because one of them is a nonprofit I volunteered for while working and the lab I worked at in college I went to assist with procedures after I graduated! Thanks for all the help!

2024.05.13 18:25 HousingDifferent3628 I feel like I wasted my life, I dont feel good enough to be an engineer, and it feels like I'm too far gone and there is no point in trying anymore

I am 23 I grew up in an abusive house (very physically, emotionally and verbally abusive). Living in my house and studying for my program has been absolute hell, I cannot focus, my WIFI gets shut down by my parents all the time, they take my money away, I am not allowed to go outside for any other purpose other than classes (no socialization, I cannot talk or even text my friends, I am not even allowed to work with people from my class on group projects or anything, I am never allowed to close the door to my room, my parents track all my devices, I cant even do things for fun) I failed 2 years of my chemical engineering undergrad degree, I am still doing 2nd year courses and I am so embarrassed. I just gave up on my life, even though I have no "distractions", all I have done for 2 years is sit and stare at my walls and contemplate my life. I somehow managed to get chemical research work last year despite how horrible my grades are, and I am able to get my work published. Now I also found out this whole time I have undiagnosed ADHD to add. But I'm so humiliated, I have been a bum for 2 years, I am 23 and I have not even been able to take a walk and get ice cream with my friends, my life has been a waste, I don't feel smart, I feel like other people my age have achieved so much and i have done nothing with my life and im not sure what to do. I have never been on a trip with my friends, I cannot do anything fun, I am just miserable. I feel like wasted potential, even if I get on ADHD meds now and I can manage the grades I am capable to getting it feels like there is no point, all recruiters are going to see I failed 2 years, and i took longer to complete my degree, and everyone is going to know there is something wrong with me. It feels like I cannot break the narrative my parents have told me my whole life (" dumb", "lazy", "I just got good grades because I got lucky, not cause I worked for it"), and seeing my transcript everyone is going to think that too, so what is the point. Maybe this is who I am just destined to be: the one who is not that smart, the one who just got lucky, the one who is just wasted potential in all aspects. I want to feel intelligent, I want to feel worthy of my opportunities, I want to feel desirable, I want to feel like I have a purpose and I have a good life, I want to be able to socialize and make new friends. I dont want to live my life through a phone screen, and watching Tiktoks and wishing the person in the Tiktok was me. It seems like I have to appeal to the dean for the 3rd time to stay in chemical engineering but I feel like such a failure doing this, the repeated failing got to me and I feel like there isnt any point in trying anymore. I feel like I dont deserve to be an engineer. I dont know what to do with my life, I feel stuck. I just need help

2024.05.13 16:40 NPSResearch Participate in a survey investigating ADHD self-medication with novel stimulants (15 minutes)

*approved by moderators*
Self-rated effectiveness of novel psychoactive substances (NPS) in self-medicating attention deficit disorders (ADHD/ADD)
KCL ethics approval #: HR-22/23-36258, Principal Investigator: Tayler Holborn, MRes, BSc. Sponsor: King's College London, Institute of Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience
The purpose of the study is to assess self-medication with NPS (legal highs/research chemicals). There is evidence to suggest that individuals may be self-medicating with NPS such as 2-FMA and 4F-MPH, however this is scarcely represented in the academic literature. We aim to examine the self-rated effectiveness (SRE) of novel psychoactive substances (NPS) for attention deficit disorders, compared to conventionally prescribed treatments. As a proponent of evidence-based drug policy, we hope that understanding how NPS are being used can help to positively influence drug policy.
What will happen if I take part?
If you agree to take part you will complete a survey anonymously. The survey will take you approximately 15 minutes to complete. The survey will ask you questions about your gender, age, ethnicity, country of residence, medication you may be using and its effectiveness, NPS you may be using and its effectiveness and your perceptions of professional healthcare. The survey will also ask about the attentional deficit disorder you are suffering from and your mental health experiences. Examples of questions you may be asked include:
Who is eligible to participate?
You are being invited to participate in this study because we are interested to hear from the general public. If you are 18-years old, or older, understand English, and have used/are using a NPS to self-medicate ADHD/ADD then you are eligible to participate in this study. To participate you do not require a formal diagnosis.
