2024.05.14 15:01 himanshukhatri704 Celebrating Raksha Bandhan with Silver Rakhi A Touch of Elegance and Tradition from Rakhi.com

Raksha Bandhan, a festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters, is marked by the ritual of tying a Rakhi around the brother’s wrist. While Rakhis come in various designs and materials, Silver Rakhi holds a special place due to its elegance, durability, and traditional significance. Here’s everything you need to know about Silver Rakhi and why it makes an excellent choice for this auspicious occasion.
The Significance of Silver in Raksha Bandhan
Silver has been valued for centuries not only for its beauty but also for its symbolic meanings and health benefits. Here are a few reasons why Silver Rakhi is a meaningful choice:
  1. Symbol of Purity and Prosperity: Silver is considered a symbol of purity and is believed to bring prosperity and good luck. Tying a Silver Rakhi can be seen as a blessing for a prosperous future.
  2. Durability: Unlike other materials, silver is durable and can be kept as a cherished keepsake. A Silver Rakhi can be a lasting reminder of the bond shared between siblings.
  3. Health Benefits: Silver is known for its antimicrobial properties and is believed to have various health benefits, such as improving blood circulation and boosting immunity. Wearing a Silver Rakhi can thus be beneficial for health.
  4. Aesthetic Appeal: Silver Rakhis are elegant and timeless. Their shiny and sophisticated look can complement any attire, making them a versatile accessory.
Types of Silver Rakhis
  1. Traditional Silver Rakhi: These Rakhis feature classic designs often inspired by traditional motifs. They might include elements like Om, Swastika, or Ganesh symbols, which add a spiritual touch.
  2. Modern Silver Rakhi: For those who prefer contemporary styles, modern Silver Rakhis come in sleek designs with minimalistic patterns. They can feature geometric shapes, abstract designs, or personalized engravings.
  3. Silver Bracelet Rakhi: Combining the traditional Rakhi with a modern bracelet style, these can be worn even after the festival, serving as a piece of jewelry. They are both stylish and meaningful.
  4. Silver Rakhi with Gemstones: Adding gemstones to a Silver Rakhi enhances its beauty and introduces additional symbolism. Gemstones like emerald, ruby, or sapphire can be chosen based on the wearer’s preferences or astrological significance.
  5. Customized Silver Rakhi: Personalized Silver Rakhis with initials, names, or special messages engraved on them add a unique and sentimental touch. These Rakhis are perfect for creating a lasting memory.
How to Choose the Perfect Silver Rakhi
  1. Consider His Style: Think about your brother’s style and preferences. Does he like traditional designs, or does he prefer modern and sleek accessories? Choose a Silver Rakhi that matches his taste.
  2. Quality of Silver: Ensure that the Rakhi is made from genuine sterling silver (92.5% purity) for durability and quality. Look for hallmarks or certifications that guarantee its authenticity.
  3. Personal Touch: Adding a personal touch can make the Silver Rakhi even more special. Consider customizing it with his initials or a meaningful symbol.
  4. Packaging: Present the Rakhi in elegant packaging. A beautiful box or pouch can enhance the gift’s appeal and make the unwrapping experience more enjoyable.
Making Raksha Bandhan Special with Silver Rakhi
  1. Rituals and Traditions: Begin the Rakhi tying ceremony with traditional rituals. Light a diya, perform an aarti, apply tilak, and then tie the Silver Rakhi on your brother’s wrist, followed by exchanging sweets.
  2. Heartfelt Messages: Accompany the Rakhi with a heartfelt note or card. Express your love, gratitude, and the special bond you share with your brother.
  3. Thoughtful Gifts: Pair the Silver Rakhi with a thoughtful gift. It could be something he has been wanting, a book, a gadget, or a personalized item that holds sentimental value.
  4. Quality Time: Spend quality time together. Whether it’s sharing a meal, watching a movie, or reminiscing about childhood memories, the time spent together makes the celebration memorable.
  5. Virtual Celebration: If you are miles apart, celebrate virtually. Send the Silver Rakhi via post or courier and perform the rituals over a video call to keep the spirit of the festival alive.
Silver Rakhi from Rakhi.com is more than just a piece of jewelry; it’s a symbol of the deep bond and love shared between siblings. Its elegance, durability, and traditional significance make it a perfect choice for Raksha Bandhan. By choosing a Silver Rakhi, you not only honor the festival’s traditions but also create a lasting memory that your brother can cherish forever. This Raksha Bandhan, let the gleam of silver reflect the timeless bond you share with your brother, making the celebration truly special.

I’m not sure what I expected to see or experience when I finally caught up to Albiel, but it wasn’t this. What I saw before me had me completely off-guard. Albiel, on the ground, with a plasma burn straight through his knee, and standing above him, was…

“Jerrick…put…the gun…down…”

I held my paws up, doing my best to talk him down. I hadn’t even SEEN Jerrick since the concert. Honestly, I hate him for what he tried to do to Mike, but looking at him now…all I felt as pity…

His fur was stained from dirt, grime, and stars know what else. Just like Teylim, he had a collar around his neck, and his ears weren’t so much as pinned back, as they were just play glued back from all of the filth he’d no doubt been wallowing in this whole time. Albiel really did just lock him away in a cell the moment her was no longer useful.

“HE DESERVES IT!!!”

“I know. Believe me, I know. But this isn’t the answer.”

Sure. I hated Albiel. I despised him. I detested him. And yes, I wanted to kill him, too. But for people like him, death alone isn’t enough. And it certainly wouldn’t help Jerrick in the long run.

“Jerrick, listen to me. You’ve been through this exact situation before. At the concert, remember.”

He flinched as soon as I mentioned that paw.

“You could’ve hit that shit dead on. You and I both know it. But you missed on purpose, didn’t you?”

Jerrick’s shaking got worse and worse. I could see the conflict happening behind his eyes. I could tell I was making progress when I saw the small twinkles building up in the corner of his eyes.

Poor kid… Just a kid…

“I…I-I just wanted a… j-just wanted him to-“

“Be a father. I know… That’s what we all wanted. We were just pups, with no one to love us, to care for us, to help us grow.”

At this point, I felt like I was talking to both of them now. I slowly took a step toward them, and then another, and another. I looked down at the pathetic monster at my feet. Bleeding…broken…and for the first time I think in his life…afraid…

“We didn’t want some ‘grand purpose’. We didn’t want to inherit some empire. We just wanted a family.”

I looked at Jerrick. I’d managed to get right next to him. I didn’t grab for the gun. I simply kneeled down beside him, and spoke calmly…

“That’s why you missed, isn’t it? You saw what Mike had. You saw what you’d be taking away from them.”

“It’s not fair… It’s just not fair…”

“It never is…but you have to understand that you CAN still have that. I’m the proof. If I was able to walk away, and have a chance at a life and a family, then so are you.”

For the first time, his eyes left his target and met mine. At that moment, I saw Jerrick for who he was, without any of the dogma, arrogance, or misplaced loyalty. He wasn’t an exterminator, PD patient, or a murderer. He was a child, just a child who lost his way.

“You didn’t have to pull the trigger then, and you don’t now.”

It was only then, that I held out my paw, and with more than a little hesitation, Jerrick handed it to me. Before I was tempted myself, I threw the thing down the hall. Before I could do anything else, I heard that same, smug, arrogant, if slightly choked up laughter coming from the absolute disgrace behind me. I turned to face my father, my abuser, my monster as his signature look of pride came back, his stupid horn glinting in the light of the building’s ceiling lamps.

“So that’s it, then? Just like that? Where is all that rage and fire I saw in your eyes, when I held that sub-sapient primitive in my grasp, and threatened to find and kill that spawn of hers?”

He’s baiting you.

I know.

“Even when you’re saving my life, you’re still a disappointment, Dohkar.”

“I’m not saving your life, I’m just prolonging your death.”

I held an arm out to shield Jerrick. I wasn’t going to let him bait me into attacking. Instead, I’d turn his stupid trick against him, and I wanted to make sure Jerrick was safe.

“You don’t deserve to die, Albiel. You deserve to LIVE, to sit in a cell and rot just like all the others whose lives you’ve helped ruin, and watch as everything you built crumbles down around you. You’re no leader. You’re just a pathetic disgrace to weak to stand on your own if you aren’t stepping on someone else to feel taller. And I’m going to make you live with that fact for the rest of your miserable life.”

And then, just a moment, the mask slips one last time…

“I’LL KILL YO-“

Whrp-prrrck!!!

Before he can lunge at us with the last of his strength, my tail wraps around his neck, and before he can choke out another word, his head is slammed into the ground…at just the right angle…to snap that horn of his at the base.

SLAM!!!

CRACK!!!

Just like that, it was over. Jerrick let out a shaky breath, staring down at our unconscious father figure. Before he broke down completely, I pulled him into an embrace. We just sat there, him crying, and me holding him in what was probably the first real hug he’d ever recieved.

“It’s alright, son. It’s over… It’s over…”

Eventually, he finally ran out of energy, and fell asleep. Once everything was calm, I placed a finger to my ear piece.

“This is 1-2 Dohkar. VIP subdued. Objective complete. Patients evacuated. Hostages secured. All hostiles neutralized. Mission accomplished. Over and out…”

Memory Transcript Subject: Teylim, Yotul Refugee Sponsor Date:[Standardized Human Time] January 16, 2137

My head was slightly foggy. I was barely paying attention to what any of the medics around me were saying. All I knew was my leg hurt, my ribs hurt, my pretty-much-everything-else hurt…and I missed my joeys…

“There you are! I was hoping I could catch you before they moved you.”

I turned my head and saw a pleasant, familiar, face approaching the cot I was laid out on.

Heeheehee. Handsome face…

These painkillers must be really something…

“Dohkar! You’re alright.”

“Yeah… Mission accomplished. It’s finally over.”

“Good. Wait. W-what about Tohba, Michael, and Khornel? I heard them over the loudspeakers but-”

“Easy, Teylim. Don’t strain yourself. They’re fine. They’re already on the way here.”

My mind was instantly put at ease for the most part. My body protested as I took in a long breath and let it out in a relieved sigh. They were alright. My joeys were alright.

[Transcript Time Progression: 15 minutes…]

“So I don’t think I’ve EVER seen YOU cry before.”

“I’m never living that down, am I?”

“Oh, absolutely not. The great, brave, oh so stoic Dohkar putting on the waterworks for Little Ol’ Me!”

“Pfft. Please. I was just sobbing in despair over getting stuck with two pups to take care of.”

“Ha Ha.”

Before I could chuckle at our stupid banter, my body quickly reminded me why that was a bad idea.

Ow! Ow. Yep. Still hurts to laugh.

Dohkar looked up for a moment and looked off into the distance.

“Huh. Speak of the devil.”

“MAMAAAAA!!!!” “TEEEEEYYY!!!!!” “MS. TEYLIM!!!!”

MY BABIES!!

We need our joeys.

YES!

With some effort, I turned my head in the other direction, and almost broke down instantly at what I saw.

My joeys…all three of them. I felt a paw on my shoulder before Dohkar left.

“I’ll…leave you to it… I still have to visit Clem and a few others.”

After a moment, the soldiers guarding the field hospital let them through, and they immediately sprinted to my side. I couldn’t have them in my arms fast enough. After a solid minute of their voices combining into a jumbled slurry of “Are you okay”s and “I’m so sorry”s, things finally calmed down enough for a full conversation.

“Mama….”

“My precious…”

Michael slowly lowered my Tohba into my arms, and as soon as he clung onto me, it felt like a massive piece of my heart and soul had been restored. He was alive! He was safe! They found him! And now he was back in my arms!

“MAMA!!! MAMAAAAAHAAAAA!!!”

“I’m here, Precious. Mama’s here…”

It hurt. My body protested against the weight of my joey. My arms burned and my breaths were still ragged, but I didn’t care. I held onto my Tohba like I hadn’t held him in cycles, placing lick after lick on the top of his head. Once I was content with my grooming, I held an arm out to bring my other two joeys in.

“Michael… Khornel… Thank the stars, you two are alright…”

“Tey…” “Ms. Teylim…”

“I heard you two over the loudspeakers. You did so well. I’m so proud of you…”

We stayed like that for a while. As much as holding them hurt, I just didn’t want to let go. We did finally break free of our group hug however, when one of the soldiers came along and gave Khornel a salute.

“Are you Ms. Khornel?”

“Y-yes… That’s me…”

“One of the other patients is asking for you. Clem?”

“YOU FOUND GRANDFATHER?!”

“Yes. He’s currently receiving medical attention but he’s stable. I can take you to him if you like.”

Khornel jumped to her feet and almost sped off right there, but hesitated after looking back at the rest of us. Michael simply gave her a nod.

“Go. We’ll catch up.”

Every single feather she had ruffled in excitement before she let the soldier lead her away. I tried to listen as she got further and further away. Eventually, I was able to hear her.

“Grandfather!”

“Little ‘Nel! My Little ‘Nel!”

I couldn’t help but smile.

I’m so happy for you, Dear.

And speaking of dears, I looked back up at Michael. We were alone now, just the three of us. He’d been remarkably silent this whole time. Now though, once he was sure no one else could here, he broke down completely.

“I’m sORrY, TeY. I aM so, SO, SorRY…”

“Sssshhhh… It’s alright. Whatever for?”

“I sHouLD’Ve bEEn tHeRE. I ShOUld’Ve BeEN aT tHe hOUse. I shOuLdN’T hAve-”

“Hey… Hey… None of that… Michael, sweetie look at me…”

Michael sniffled and wiped away his tears, doing his best to hold it together. His bright blue eyes were filled with regret, regret that was entirely undeserved. All I had to do to prove it was point out the joey in my arms, fast asleep.

“You found Tohba. You kept him safe. You agreed to stay behind even if you didn’t want to. And when the time came, you all found a way to help without putting yourself or the others in danger. You could NOT have handled yourself better today.”

I strained to raise up my free arm and cup the side of Michael’s face in my paw, wiping away another tear streak with my thumb. I looked into my son's beautiful eyes with all the love I could muster.

“I am SO…proud of you.”

Without another word, he held my paw in his hand, nuzzling into it with his cheek. I finally had my boys with me again. And for the first time in a long time…everything felt like it was going to be alright…

Memory Transcript Subject: Tevis, Magistrate Intelligence Operative Date:[Standardized Human Time] January 16, 2137

I walked around the grounds of the field hospital. All around me, human medics and professionals were tending to the patients and hostages. The raid had been a success.

Albiel was in custody… UN Custody…

Many of the other exterminators were deaf from WHATEVER THE HELL that human did over the intercom.

I watched as a large Krakotl was led to one of the elderly patients by a soldier.

“GRANDFATHER!!!”

“Little ‘Nel!!!!”

The two embraced, the smaller Venlil running his claws through her feathers.

“My Little ‘Nel…”

“I missed you so much, Grandfather. I’m so sorry I let you get-”

“Don’t you dare blame yourself. I’m just glad you’re alright…”

I shook my head and continued moving. So that’s another family that will need housing. Pretty much every patient here is going to be a personal settlement case all on their own, with, more than likely, PLENTY to say about the state in which they were held in…

I watched a frantic looking Gojid enter the hospital constantly looking around.

“Scolina?! Has anyone seen my daughter?! Scolina?!”

The Gojid eventually made their way closer towards the Krakotl and old Venlil from before. One of the Gojid patients on a nearby bed seemed to hear his call.

“D…Daddy…?”

The two made I contact, and the younger Gojid was almost immediately tackle hugged by the elder.

“‘LINA!!! My sweet little ‘Lina, I’m so sorry!!!!”

“DADDY!!! DADDY!!!”

They broke away from the hug for a moment as the older Gojid looked in horror at the burn scars covering the girl.

“Oh, ‘Lina what did they do to you?”

“They…said it would fix me… Am… Am I fixed now, Daddy?”

Just hearing the words seemed to make the man break down entirely all over again.

“There was never anything wrong with you… I should never have sent you to this place… It’s all my fault…”

“Daddy…”

Judging from the girl’s speech patterns, she must’ve been taken in while she was a pup, which meant lots of special education as well as whatever this human “therapy” was.

What a load of sanctimonious-

I calmed myself before I could go on a rant.

After doing the rest of my rounds, watching more and more people reunite with their family members, I walked off and went make a call back to HQ. As far as I could tell, this was the rundown: The bar was now filled with dead and/or dying exterminators, the Guild Office was filled with dead and/or dying exterminators, Albiel was now in custody, there were still exterminators on the Guild roster that were MIA, pretty much all the patients were now out and able to give testimony, and I had a LOT more paperwork than usual to take care of.

Yep! Just about NOTHING has gone to plan.

Time to change that…

[The Following Is A Clip From A News Broadcast Archived By Magistrate Intelligence…]

[The clip opens up on a well-groomed Venlil reporter behind a desk with the logo of “Prime News”...]

“Tensions rise once more in the Soulroot District as events continue to heat up in their border village of Five Meadows. We here at Prime News have been following the events of what is now being labeled, ‘The Five Meadows Incident’ over this past month, starting with the failed assassination of a human refugee and seemingly ending with the temporary shutdown of the Five Meadows Extermination Guild as a whole. However, while the crisis with The Guild does seem to have passed, things are still not well in that small border town. We go now to our newest seeker, Rose McDermott, out in the field. Rose?”

[The camera changes to view a female human reporter standing in front of what appears to be a border checkpoint…]

“Thank you, Talen. As anyone who has been following this incident with us would know, just two weeks ago, I was just actually IN the town of Five Meadows, just outside the former Guild Office, watching as patients, hostages, and soldiers alike were treated for their injuries and traumas. However, before we could get any interviews, we were quickly escorted from the premises by Interim Guard officials. And while The Soulroot Magistrate HAS released a public statement regarding the situation, their actions have led many to question their intentions, this checkpoint behind me being one chief example. As said in their public announcement, The Magistrate is now enforcing a full lockdown of Five Meadows, stating their intent to track down any exterminators who escaped the raid on their office and are still considered, “at large”. However, after the events of the Five Meadows Incident, many incriminating recordings being leaked online, as well as the upcoming election, many are wondering if The Soulroot Magistrate truly had the people’s best interests at heart. Back to you, Talen…”

[The camera changes once more to show the Venlil reporter. They seem to take a breath before reshuffling the papers on the desk…]

“Now…you all watching are more than aware of my opinions on such things as Extermination Guilds and Predator Disease Facilities. But…this is a news station. We can’t just sit here blindly theorizing and getting lost in conjecture. My opinions aside, and leaving just the facts alone, it is clear that what has happened in this small town is nothing short of tragic. And we here at Prime News will continue to cover these events as they unfold. “I’d like to thank you for joining us today, Ms. Teylim. I do hope you’re healing well.”

I gave a smile to the kind man on the monitor as I shifted on the motel room bed.

“Thank you. It’ll still be a little while before my leg is able to be walked on normally, but otherwise, I’m healing well. Thank you, Dr. Jacobson.”

“I’m glad to hear it. Now then, onto the reason why I asked for this group session. It appears there’s been a slight breakdown in communication between you and Michael…”

I gave a confused look to Michael, sat on the other bed in the motel room. He shifted uncomfortably and simply looked down at his hands.

“What kind of breakdown?”

“It seems that ever since things have been…brought out in the open between you two, he’s stated that he’s been experiencing ‘guilty’ feelings whenever trying to express affection.”

“Is this true, Michael?”

“It’s just… I don’t know what it is. I felt like…like I was wasting your time…”

“Wasting my time?”

“Tey… Be honest… When…exactly…did you start thinking of me like your son?”

I did my best to think back. Honestly, after the first time he sang for us was probably the first time I felt something like that, but at the time, I just thought it was leftover mom hormones from having Tohba.

“Honestly, the first time I felt something akin to motherly love for you was after you sang for us the first time. You just…looked so sad, lost, confused, and scared, and I just…gravitated towards it. Afterwards, things calmed down somewhat, but when I really started feeling it was Thanksgiving.”

“Oh. I wasn’t aware that you tried having Thanksgiving. It makes sense in a way, though. That holiday, along with Christmas the following month, have great emphasis on spending time with one’s family.”

Suddenly, a horrifying realization popped into my head.

“Oh no! Michael, we forgot to celebrate Christmas!!”

“Tey, it’s fine. All the present deliveries got canceled, anyways.”

“It is not ‘fine’! We are celebrating Christmas! I don’t care if I have to drag a tree into this room myself!”

“Ugh… Fine…”

After a moment of laughing at ourselves, Dr. Jacobson continued.

Well, we’ve established that one end of these feelings truly began around Thanksgiving. What about you Michael? When would you say you truly started seeing Teylim as a mother figure in your life?”

“Honestly…I don’t know… Not for sure, anyways. In some ways, it feels like she’s always been that way to me, but maybe that’s just because even after just meeting her, she was already treating me better than my own mom did.”

Honestly, I wasn’t sure how to feel about that. A part of me was giddy that he’d apparently always thought of me as a mother to him, another part was completely shattered by just how much his birth mother had affected him. It was like hearing his tale of abuse all over again.

“I think…once I got used to actually calling her that in my mind, that was when the idea actually became real. That’s when I really started thinking about her as my mom. Not A mom…My mom… But even then, I just…couldn’t say it, no matter how hard I tried. Like I said, in some ways it just…always felt like she was my mom. So when I think about how long it took me to actually start acknowledging it and expressing it… I just…feel guilty. I wasted so much time…”

I turned and sat facing toward him. I couldn’t let him truly believe that.

“Michael, it could’ve taken three days, three months, or three years. I would’ve accepted your love whenever you were ready.”

“But you shouldn’t have had to! You shouldn’t have had to wait for me just to get over myself.”

“Michael…”

“The fact is…you were right. That egg donor that gave birth to me isn’t my mom…you are…”

My heart skipped a beat as he looked straight at me, my mind filling with just those last two words.

I…am…

“You’ve done more to raise, love, and nurture me in three months than my birth mom did in TEN YEARS. And you DESERVE a son that’s actually capable of accepting your love and giving it back. And I just…wasn’t able to do that…”

I felt my heart breaking more and more. I had no idea he’d been feeling this way, and I wanted nothing more than to help him through it.

“But that’s over now. I’m done blaming myself for something that wasn’t my fault. I’m done letting the words of a monster dictate what I am. That’s why I want to keep having sessions with you and Dr. Jacobson. I want to get better. So that I CAN be the son you deserve.”

Oh, Michael. If only you knew. You already are.

With some mixed feelings, I pulled over my satchel. There was something I’d been meaning to give him for a while now.

“Michael, you are already a wonderful son, one I wouldn’t trade for the world. I’ve already said that much. And I’m so happy you’re committed to getting better. There is nothing I want more than your happiness. When you were about to leave, before the concert, I was so scared I was about to lose you. The way you so easily gave up like that…it scared me. It felt like…like I failed.”

“Tey, I-”

That’s why…”

I slowly opened up my satchel and pulled out a small packet of papers. They were a bit torn and faded after fishing them out of the wreck that was my office, but I managed to find them.

“I got these for you.”

I handed him the papers and watched intently as he read them. I won’t lie, most of it is legal mambo jumbo that even I can’t fully understand, but I could tell exactly when he got to the important bit. I’d memorized that one beautiful line:

I, Teylim Andrews do hereby fully and officially acknowledge ________________ as my-

“Tey… Are these…adoption papers?”

“You’re only half right.”

He looked up from the papers, his eyes full of shock and awe.

“You ARE a full, legal, adult, by both human and Yotul standards, so I can’t technically ‘adopt’ you. BUT, what we CAN do, as legal, consenting adults, is BOTH agree to sign these papers, fully acknowledging each other as family, me as your mother, and you as my son. This does a LOT of weird, quirky things involving Venlil law, mostly involving inheritances and insurance. BUT the most important thing, is that by legally becoming a part of my family, the door is open to you for FULL. CITIZENSHIP. You won’t have to be a refugee anymore.”

Michael was speechless, just looking back down at the papers.

“Tey, I… I don’t know what to-”

“You don’t…have to sign if you don’t want to…”

He looked back at me, waiting to hear me out.

“At the time, I’d only gotten these to show you as proof, proof that I really AM serious about this. I truly DO see you as my own, Michael. And paper or no paper, that much will never change. I truly, completely, and purely…love you. And I want nothing more than for you to be happy…”

I looked down at my own paws. I knew that presenting him with this choice meant having to accept the fact that he might say no. So, I just curled in on myself and braced for it…just in case.

“But…I know that you’re still healing. I was going to give these to you after the concert. But then you got shot, and even after that, you were still recovering. I wanted to make sure things were slightly calm again before going through with it. Now, I know it’s a big decision and I completely understand if you don’t feel comfortable-OOF!!!”

Before I could even react, I was pushed backwards, fully wrapped up in a giant hug.

“MIchael! What are you-”

“I’ll do it… I’ll sign…”

With just those five words, I found myself struggling to find a response. My heart was racing and I couldn’t even tell if I heard him right.

“You… You mean-”

“I want to sign! I want to be your son!”

For a moment, I was still paralyzed. My rapidly wagging tail was the first part of me to move before I practically dove into him.

My son! MY SON! MY SON!

“OH, MICHAEL!!!!”

I couldn’t contain myself. I hugged. I squeezed. I nuzzled. I licked. I kissed. I held…my son. MY! SON! And soon, not even a government official would be able to say otherwise.

And then…as if I needed any more confirmation. He uttered four more words. Just four. Four words that I’d never heard him say before, at least not together, and not toward me. Still, hearing him say those four words…the last time I remember being that happy…was when my Tohba was born.

“I love you, Mom…”

Did he just call us…?

Mom… Mom… MOM MOM MOM MOM MOM!!! HE CALLED US MOM!!!

“I love you so much, my joey! Mama loves you so, so, so much! Never forget that.”

“Mom…”

Our lovely, perfect moment was then interrupted by the only thing that could’ve made it more perfect. A small, adorable yawn came from the small crib behind us.

“Mama…? Whad goin’ on?”

I turned to see Tohba peeking through the bars at us. It appeared our little moment had woken him from his nap.

“Hmmm… Tell me, Michael. Now that things seem like they’re becoming official, is there anything you’d like to say to young Tohba as well?”

“\sniff** Yeah… I think there is…”

I watched with bated breath as Michael walked over and plucked Tohba from his crib, before sitting next to me. Tohba, for his part, looked really worried, probably because we were both complete sobbing messes.

“Mikey zhad?”

“No, Bud. I’m not sad. I’m happy, happier than I’ve been in a long time.”

Tohba didn’t seem entirely convinced yet. He only seemed to get more worried when Michael composed himself and took on a somewhat serious tone.

“Bud? There’s something REALLY important you need to know. So, I need you to listen real close, okay?”

Tohba’s fear only seemed to grow. The last time Michael said something like that was when he left for Twilight Valley.

“Tohba… You…are the BEST…baby brother a guy like me could ever ask for. You hear me? The BEST…”

Tohba’s fear and worry seemed to go away for the most part, only to be replaced with partial confusion.

“Mikey…bwudhew…?”

We both almost broke again just from that one, adorable word. Michael was quick to confirm it, nodding frantically as he tried to hold it together.

“That’s right… And your big brother, Mikey loves you SO much, Tohba. SO…much… More than you’ll ever know…”

“Mikey…beeg bwudhew…”

Tohba seemed to take a moment to think, trying to truly comprehend the words he just said. Once he understood however, it was impossible to hide his excitement. His tiny tail became a blur behind him as his eyes lit up with glee. Before he could react, Tohba used his still developing hind legs to launch himself into Michael’s face.

“BEEG BWUDHEW!!!!”

“OH, JEEZ!”

In a flash, Michael was knocked onto his back, laughing as Tohba licked and nuzzled every inch of his face.

“MIKEY BEEG BWUDHEW! MAMA! MIKEY BEEG BWUDHEW!!!!”

That was it. That was what finally broke me. I sobbed openly and clapped as my Tohba shared the amazing news with me. Mikey IS beeg bwudhew.

Once his energy had wound down, Tohba saw fit to simply snuggle into Michael’s arms, letting out a long, contented sigh, as if anything that could’ve possibly been wrong in his tiny, perfect world had been made right again.

“Wuv you, Mikey… Wuv you Beeg Bwudhew…”

“I love you too, Bud. I love you so much.”

I couldn’t hold back any longer. I rushed forward…and held my boys in my arms. And in this one…perfect moment, I could only think one thing.

I love my boys. I love my family. I love my life.

2024.05.13 16:33 echos_in_the_wood How do you politely respond to a MIL who asks why you don’t wear the cheap ugly crap she buys you?

Last Mother’s Day she bought me a literal child sized bracelet and than laughed at me and loudly called me fat in a restaurant a month later on Father’s Day (I am not fat and this woman is twice my size anyway) when I said it was too small for me 🙄 She asked me why I wasn’t wearing it a month later like I am supposed to proudly adorn myself with her cheap crappy gifts like they’re my kid’s macaroni necklace
This isn’t even the first time she’s asked me why I don’t wear anything she buys. She’s been asking me this for years. She mostly buys me cheap perfume and I don’t wear perfume at all. The clothes she buys me are her style, not mine and lots of granny nightgowns for some reason 🤔 Keep in mind that this is the same woman who has made it known that she is trying to copy my wardrobe, bought a giant pile of clothes from Shein that look like knock offs of MY dresses in colors and patterns that I usually wear, asked my husband to buy her the exact dresses I have (he ignored her) but she suddenly has no idea what I like when it comes to buying gifts from me.
This Mother’s Day she gave me cheap earrings that match the child sized bracelet from last year. When we see her next month, I know she will ask me why I am not wearing them. I am normally someone who says thank you and moves on when someone buys me gifts. I am not used to being interrogated and insulted when I don’t use them. I think MIL uses gifts to control others in her family, which makes me actually want to just throw them out. I’ve been feeling like she’s been trying to control what I wear lately, since she’s made it known she wants to copy me and is jealous. What would you say to her when she asks?

2024.05.13 15:29 broken-lycan would you like a knotted bracelet of your rat(s)?

first of all: this is solely me gauging interest
I found this super cute rat bracelet pattern (https://friendship-bracelets.net/patterns/alpha/40901) and I want to make it. I don't have rats myself and tbh do I need this? Not really. But look at how cute it is!! (Further down on the page you can see examples of this bracelet others have made. it can be one rat, two rats facing each other, two rats following each other etc)
So basically my idea is this: if you're interested, send me a photo of your rattie(s) and I'll make this for you. I'm confident enough in my bracelet making skills to know that I can adjust the colours of the pattern, meaning your rat doesn't have to have the coat colour or pattern seen in the original pattern.
All I'd ask for anyone who wants this to cover shipping (I'm in central europe, so the closer you are, the cheaper it'll be). I might have to get some yarn colours and envelopes for this and I'm not exactly swimming in money. But I'll see.
I don't want this to be a for profit thing cause bracelet making is a hobby for me, it's something to keep my hands and part of my brain busy while I watch youtube videos.
Comment here if you'd be interested. Whether or not you are interested, please give your babies scritches from me 🥰

2024.05.13 15:08 Beneficial_Yak8859 My crazy Rich Delhi Women experience! It’s not for working class fs

I’m not originally from Delhi, but work brought me there for a stay. A friend (who is super rich- like generational wealth rich) invited me to experience the city’s high life, and what I encountered during that week was both captivating and unsettling.
Delhi’s elite circles are dominated by wealthy married individuals, particularly women in their 30s and 40s, 50s. These women live in a world of opulence—luxury cars, designer bags, shades, and clothes. Their lifestyle is the epitome of extravagance, while their husbands seem tethered to work, always on call or glued to their phones.
The women, on the other hand, revel in shopping sprees, leisurely trips to luxury malls, fine cafes, and night parties. When I mentioned my work, nobody seemed interested; it was as if the concept of labor for sustenance was alien to them. Their generational wealth shields them from the necessity of understanding or engaging in meaningful work.
Despite having an army of servants, these women were still expected to perform traditional domestic duties like cooking. There was also a strange competitiveness among them, evident in their constant one-upmanship over luxury items like diamond bracelets.
Their lives revolved around superficial indulgences—new clothes, cars, and jewelry. They bonded over superficial struggles and complaints, often boasting about who faced the most challenges in their loveless marriages and social circles.
Despite the external glitz, I felt a profound sense of not belonging. Many interactions revealed the shallowness of their personalities, especially in how they treated their household staff. They believed that being polite would make servants overly familiar or demanding.
Parenting responsibilities primarily fell on these women, with fathers rarely seen engaging with their children beyond lavish vacations. Poolside drinks substituted for meaningful family time.
Underneath the facade of wealth and status, there was an insatiable hunger for more.
There were weird pattern of showing off the cars and banglows and lifestyle but not hearing the complains of not being paid on time by servants. (Tbh I lost my patience here)
These women also come from well educated background but very frequently I have seen follow some guru, astrology and have regressive mindset of having boy as a kid ( according to them a business family must have a male heir) it’s very common. And it is shamelessly accepted in group setting.
Some of the pregnancies are easily altered like via sarogacy, abortion if you know what I mean.
This lifestyle intrigued me—it was fascinating how people’s treatment changed based on the car they stepped out of. The extraordinary politeness and special treatment were otherworldly, yet internally, they engaged in an imaginary competition to prove superiority.
The relationships were strained, with many husbands unfaithful yet tolerated for the sake of luxury. Despite their education, many women followed regressive beliefs, favoring male heirs and turning to gurus and astrology.
Some women ran fictitious fashion businesses to maintain an illusion of productivity. I found myself questioning the sanity of my hard work for bills, contrasting it with their seemingly effortless extravagance.
By the end of the week, I realized that every luxury comes with a hidden cost. While their lives gleamed with lavishness, beneath the palatial bungalows lay darker secrets and wars of which outsiders like me could only catch glimpses.
Have you encountered anything like that? Or you guys already knew this alternative reality of Delhi posh society??
EDIT: A lot of you have pointed out that my post seemed very shallow and that it doesn't accurately represent how all wealthy people live in Delhi. I apologize if my post came across as stereotyping all wealthy people in Delhi. (My experience certainly doesn't apply to every wealthy family in Delhi, obviously.) That wasn't my intention. In fact, my main intention was to highlight that the grass always looks greener on the other side. Wealth doesn't make someone automatically evil.
The rich have their own struggles and challenges, just like everyone else. As someone from the working class (I,me,myself) it’s easy to overlook their difficulties as shallow lives, but we all face different kinds of problems in life. While money might not be their main issue, wealthy people cetainly encounter their own unique challenges.
Many of you accused me of being 'Bihari' (which I am not, and it's irrelevant) and said things like "go back to where you came from" (even though I've mentioned I don't live in Delhi), or called me "jealous of the rich life" (which I was, before I encountered and realized the profound truth that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, and that's why I shared my experience—to help the working class understand the inevitable realities of life, whether rich or not). I find these comments contradictory, classist, and biased.
Additionally, a lot of grammar Nazis and ChatGPT warriors accused me of misusing the platform. As I mentioned, writing is part of my job. "PART of my JOB" should make it clear that I am not an author or an English major, so please excuse any spelling mistakes or odd vocabulary.
In addition to my apologies, I also want to extend my sympathies to those who shared their own struggles and experiences here. Thank you for your overwhelming response.

2024.05.13 12:09 Secure-Economist-266 Toy Story 3 Video Game Codes For PS3

Toy Story 3 Video Game Codes For PS3
I was unsure where to put this but I've found 4 codes that work on the PS3 version of Toy Story 3 (please not I haven't tested it on other consoles). Also please be aware I'm unsure if some codes are also region locked but these ones should work for Australia (and Europe maybe).
  1. The Knight's Game Pack which was released with other packs with the Walmart Editions of the game (also I don't know if any other packs also had a code). It cost 500 coins at Al's Toy Barn in Toy Box Mode, it has a knight costume for the human townsfolk that has a silver head piece with a red mohawk down the middle, its worth 40 funny points and 10 cool points. It also has a knight clothing that comes with a sword with chain amour and red cloth with the yellow sheriff star outline on top, it's with 50 funny points and 10 cool points. The alien townsfolk have a costume of a jousting knight with a plain knight helmet that covers only the top part of the head with a dome shape, its worth 10 cool points. There is also a jousting knight clothing that is white amour with a black and white spiral jousting pole, worth 10 cool points. It also comes with building customisation options: the first is a wall customisation a blue stone wall to match the medieval theme, a darker rich brown wooden trim for the excess of buildings, a dark rich brown wooden door with an iron frame and gold door hinges and gold door knocker hoop. Iron trimmed windows with gold slanted crossed lines as a pattern with black insides, a medieval shield and spear for the sides of buildings (one object but on both sides), medieval castle spire with a flag pole on top for the top of buildings, and for the yard: a King Arthur sword in a stone and a training dummy pillow with a target in the middle.
  2. The Gladiator, unlike what some people think which is that it would add a character that is a Gladiator Toy, it actually adds a gladiator costume for the townsfolk that are human. The hat is worth 10 scary and 10 cool points, it's appearance is Roman with a bronze metal material with a red hair clump sprouted from the middle. The clothing is a bronze chest plate with a bronze bracelet on each hand with brown sandals, the clothing is worth 10 scary points and 10 cool points.
  3. The Patriotic Hat and Big Band Hat, which is two hats for the human townsfolk. The Patriotic Hat adds an Uncle Sam based hat with it being a white top hat with a blue part down the bottom with white stars inside with the top part of the hat having vertical red lines down the side. It's worth 10 cute points, 10 funny points and 20 cool points.
The Big Band Hat is a orange marching band hat with a white feather stuck to the top. Its worth the same as the previous hat before of 10 cute points, 10 funny points and 20 cool points.
  1. Which is the only one that doesn't involve customisation is the 2000 coins in Toy Box Mode Code. Which isn't reusable and can only be used once.

2024.05.13 00:21 1NatSVV Help me find him?

Help me find him?
Oh man last night was crazy!! Long story short I want to find this guy and i don't know of a more wider platform (other than tiktok) to help maybe find this guy.
First of all my name is Natalie. I went to an INZO concert last night 5/11 fron 7p to 1:30a, and then after I went the the Wave Garden night club in the Queen Anne area. That's where I met Matthew.
I don't know much other information about him other than he was with a group probably, tall 5'10"+ slim/athletic, white guy, green eyes, black shirt and jeans, a few candy bracelets and wore a hat/beanie, was really kind to security staff and infectious smile. I don't remember much else because I was battling a headache
I was wearing my black crop top sweater and black "Headbanger" pants. I was the short latina when we first spotted each other in the hallway for the bathroom.
You started up a conversation with me about the guy in front of me and his patterned shirt.
When you, Matthew, last saw me you asked if you could give me a side hug before you left and you wanted to see me more during the night.
Sadly I left early because of the headache. I was still standing in the entrance area the last you saw me.
Well my hopes in making this post is that maybe we can connect again and maybe kind people will help us!
A pic of the event for tax.
P.S. I'll know it's you when you can tell me what you said when you pointed at the TV screen in the foyer when we were talking :3

[Recommendation Request] Looking to add some color
After my last purchase, I realized my collection is basically all stainless steel and/or black.
I think I’m partial to a green or turquoise/teal dial, and/or some interesting dial pattern like waves, linen, or honeycomb, but I’d be open to any suggestions.
36 to 40mm would be ideal, it must be at least somewhat water resistant, and I’d prefer something that comes with a bracelet but can easily be swapped with a leather or nato strap (so no PRX or the like).
Under $500 would be ideal and I’m okay with quartz, but would want to spend considerably less than that for one.
I like the Seiko SUR525, some of the offerings from Islander Watches, the Casios with teal dials (although I’ve read these look and feel cheap), the Brew Retrograph, some of the Vostok classics.
Thanks for any and all suggestions

2024.05.12 08:09 Hope1995x This is another attempt at creating a better Polynomial (not practical high exponent) Heuristic for Exact 3 Cover

For Universe sizes 3 to 51

I have brute forced all possible collision cases for two subsets. When the left side of the equation has collision and the right side has no collision. These variables represent odd prime powers.
{a+B+c} + {d+B+e} = {f+g+h}+{i+j+k}
This is just a general example, the collision could occur anywhere on the left side of the equation as long is it follows the combinatoric rules. Collision is impossible for this case at least up to universe size 51.
I have brute forced all possible collision cases for three subsets, Again left side collision, right side no collision. No counter examples were found for universes sized 3 to 21.
{...} + {...} + {...} = {...} + {...} + {...}
Bottleneck starts at size 4, and around universe size 12. So all I could realistically do is learn the properties of odd prime powers and try to find a way. Nope that's a dead end.
So all I can do is brute force and random combinations where I only do large number but its capped to prevent long running times.

The Reduction

Generate primes following the pattern
 [3,5,7] Size 3 [11,13,17,19,23,29] Size 6 [31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 59, 61, 67] Size 9
  • Go to last iteration, such as [3,5,7] Notice i[len(i)-1] is 7
  • Find prime larger than i[len(i)-1] which is 11
  • Generate N odd primes start at 11, which is 11,13,17,19,23,29. Where N is six.
  • Lists are incremented by 3 in the reduction.
  • This ensures each reduction always has a unique list of odd primes.
  • Raise each odd prime to the powers of 5,6,7 in sequential order (eg. a^5, b^6, c^7, d^5, e^6, f^6, g^5...)

The Heuristic that uses this reduction

This is the code I've used to conduct brute force searches for specific collision cases rather than exhausting all possible combinations (That's not feasible due to personal life expectancy). Rather naively doing all possible combinations, the goal is to look for signs of collision.
import itertools from itertools import combinations import math import random random.seed() N = 15 S = [i for i in range(1, N + 1)] def is_prime(n): if n <= 1: return False elif n <= 3: return True elif n % 2 == 0 or n % 3 == 0: return False i = 5 while i * i <= n: if n % i == 0 or n % (i + 2) == 0: return False i += 6 return True # Get the first N odd primes def get_primes_up_to_N(N): primes = [] num = k[len(k)-1] + 1 while len(primes) < N: if is_prime(num): primes.append(num) num += 1 return primes ######################################################################### # Generate primes following the pattern # [3,5,7] Size 3 # [11,13,17,19,23,29] Size 6 # [31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 59, 61, 67] Size 9 # Manual Steps # Go to last iteration, such as [3,5,7] Notice i[len(i)-1] is 7 # Find prime larger than i[len(i)-1] which is 11 # Generate N odd primes start at 11, which is 11,13,17,19,23,29. 2024.05.12 05:13 Snati_Snati [PI] You've slain the beast, but instead of payment the villagers kicked you out Enraged, you do what no mage has ever done: Resurrect a dragon.

Originally posted as a comment to this post.
I bite my lip until it bleeds, attempting to ground myself with physical pain.
Oh master! Forgive me for perverting the techniques you entrusted to me.
My shaking hand manages to snatch a teardrop from the air just in time. Even a single teardrop would ruin the complex Fulu talisman that I just completed. I attach the talisman above the entrance to the cave, joining the dozens of other talismans already in place. Taking a moment to study the brilliant red cinnabar ink, I mentally trace each brush stroke of every character. Every symbol stirs up memories of endless practice under my master’s critical gaze; harsh punishments for the smallest imperfections resulting in bitter complaints from an ungrateful student. A wry smile briefly dances across my lips.
Master, forgive the foolish youth I once was. That of which I complained most bitterly is precisely what gives me the skill and power that I now wield.
Those few disciples who mastered the techniques of our sect obtained the rare ability to destroy the very essence of monsters and demonic beings. There are many with the skill to lure such creatures away from a town. Fewer who can, temporarily, destroy the physical manifestation of such abominations. But only the secrets of our sect could permanently pacify such beasts instead of simply driving them away to trouble some new location. Our senior disciples are able to sense and control the spiritual essence of these creatures. This allows them to guide the harmful spirits back into the Earth, allowing them to find rest.
That is why my actions tonight are blasphemous. I’m twisting my master’s techniques to draw the spiritual essence of a dragon back from out of the Earth herself and then I will guide this spiritual core back into the corpse of the dragon entombed within this cave. Such an act has never been attempted! While the blasphemy of this plan hangs heavy on my conscience, I do feel proud at how clearly I was able to see how to adapt these techniques to this task and how quickly I was able to modify the traditional talismans to help bring this dragon back to life. I have no doubt that I will succeed.
As I enter the cave, I look back at the events that led me here. Over the past 16 years, I became rather well known for my skill in pacifying demonic beasts that troubled towns and trade routes. With this reputation, people were eager to share with me any stories or news of troublesome beasts. These were rarely firsthand accounts; usually they were exaggerated rumors heard from travelers visiting a local tavern. However, I learned to discern the kernels of truth that often lay buried within these tall tales. Recently, those who traded in fantastic stories were obsessed with stories of dragons. After some research, I found the common elements in these stories pointed to a dragon terrifying a remote valley on the other side of the kingdom. In our part of the world, dragons typically keep to themselves, so I was excited at the prospect of my first dragon pacification. I made a rapid journey across the kingdom, taking no time to stop and enjoy the cities and towns that I passed through. When I arrived at the edge of the kingdom, I set off on foot to explore the remote valleys while looking for any evidence of a dragon causing trouble. Within several days, my efforts bore fruit. At the outer edge of a remote settlement, I saw a large dragon sitting in a pasture. The dragon was eagerly devouring an entire herd of livestock.
Wanting to save as much of the livestock as possible, I quickly subdued the spiritual essence of the dragon and began guiding it into the earth. I was surprised at how easy it was to pacify the beast – the dragon didn’t fight back at all. Perhaps it was simply torpid after eating so much. The next stage, waiting for the dragon’s spirit to fully disperse, required a considerable amount of time. I was skilled enough that I could use this time to study the dragon’s corpse. Its scales were a beautiful mottled brown that matched the pattern of the bark on the trees near the edge of the clearing. I noticed that the dragon was adorned with bracelets around its forearms, legs, and even the base of its tail. Dragons, of course, have a reputation for enjoying fine jewelry, but these were all woven from leather or thread and the quality was quite poor with many obvious mistakes in the weaving. Rather peculiar, but I had certainly seen stranger things in my travels. These were likely tokens from humans the dragon had killed previously, the poor settlers in the area not owning any real jewelry. Eventually, the dragon’s essence was fully dispersed and I went in search of a cave in the nearby cliffs to use as a crypt for the dragon’s corpse. After the exhausting job of moving the dragon’s body, I walked to the village to share the good news.
It’s difficult to overstate how shocked I was at the villagers’ reaction to my news. Instead of the usual cheering and celebration there was only silence. The older children and younger teenagers, in particular, looked like they were about to cry. After a minute of awkward silence, the adults became angry! They started yelling at me, threatening me, making the most vile and horrid accusations. I simply couldn’t understand what was happening. Were these people all bewitched by some evil spirit? I tested the room as best I could in those chaotic circumstances, but found no evidence of possession or entrancement. The people were honestly angry with me!
Eventually, I got them to calm down enough so I could actually understand what they were yelling at me. They kept saying the dragon was friendly and considered a citizen of the village. I tried to explain that I caught the dragon devouring a farmer’s livestock. A farmer yelled something about a payment and keeping wolves away; I was rather distracted by the anger in his eyes and the pitchfork in his hand that he kept threatening me with. Eventually, the adults stopped yelling at me when several of the children approached. With tears in their eyes they told me about the friendship bracelets they made for their friend and how they looked forward to playing with the dragon every weekend. I still find it difficult to believe, but the children’s grief was so utterly sincere that I was finally convinced they were all telling the truth.
Once I understood how important the dragon was to this small community, my heart broke. They must have seen how much this realization affected me because they stopped yelling and threatening me. After more awkward silence, the elders said the village would prefer that I leave so they could mourn the loss of their friend in peace. I was escorted out of the town and the sheriff, with anger in his voice, asked me never to return. Apologies would do little to repair the harm that I had done, so I nodded and walked towards the mountains from whence I had come.
Never before have I been so angry! Never before have I felt such hatred of myself! I was enraged and full of a dangerous energy that threatened to overwhelm me. It took all of the discipline and training that I had ever learned to contain this anger and cool it down into something productive. I had to channel this energy and there was only one action that would give me release: I had to bring the dragon back to life.
The very thought of such blasphemy shook me to my core, but it was the only way to restore my honor. I had spent my life trying to help and protect the people in this kingdom. I never cared if it was a shack of the poorest old widow or a mansion of a great noble; my only goal was to bring peace and relief. Now, I had destroyed the peace of this village. Instead of relief, I brought them grief. I killed their friend and wounded the hearts of their children. The only way forward was to undo this terrible deed even if it went against everything my master taught me. I took a slow breath and waited for my thoughts to settle. I was now standing next to the massive muzzle of the beautiful forest dragon, the innocent dragon that I had killed. Wiping away the last of my tears, I began the process of searching for the dragon’s spiritual essence.

Umm...guys?
Check out where the dragon head protrudes from the dress's design and the corresponding jagged part of the park, the similarity of the crossed arms and the walkway that is covered by "Recently viewed," and the difference of width on each side of both of the patterns. A similar consistency is present where its tail protrudes near the bottom left of the park. I'm having trouble finding out just how much of the design was present in 1980. There was a wholesale landscaping project done in 2010ish. If anyone finds any aerial pictures circa 1980, please share (even if it discounts my theory).
Interestingly, Los Angeles City Hall is at the foot of the park (a "Citadel in the night"). It's made of California granite and was seismically designed and built, which 'saved' the building from the 1933 and 1941 earthquakes ("Weight and roots extended Together saved the site Of granite walls".)
Moreover, L.A. City Hall has a colonnade (“Wind-swept halls"). Plus, there are several other 'halls' in the immediate area: The Hall of Administration, the Hall of Records and the Hall of Justice. The Hall of Justice also has a colonnade.
Los Angeles City Hall looks an awful lot like a rocket ("A wingless bird ascended Born of ancient dreams of flight"). (The Japan hints state that "This wingless bird can easily be spotted in Japan" and Japan is small enough that rockets launched from Tanegashima Space Center would be visible throughout the country as they pass through the atmosphere.) There's also at least one "White stone" at Grand Park (in what is now called Sakura Grove).
There's been a Fairmont Hotel in Century City since 1966 and a Fairmount Street in East L.A. (for the Fairmount/Fairmont people who just swear that that 'clue' is a dead ringer for SF).
"Lane Two twenty two" may mean Los Angeles, North Entrance (L.A.N.E.) of the park, which has the address, 222 N. Hill St. The address number of the Hall of Administration is 222 N. Grand. The park itself may have 222 as its official street number as well. (Alternatively, "Lane" could be referring to the Northeast district of L.A., apparently abbreviated "NELA", but that's admittedly weak; plus, City Hall is downtown in the Civic Center district not NELA, so I'm going with the park entrance theory for now.)
The arc of lights (hey, u/ArcOfLights lol) IMO could be the LAX air traffic at night. Alternatively, it's the view of the Arthur J. Will Memorial Fountain from the north end of the park.
Anybody want to go walk 12 paces from the west side of that stone and poke around? :D As Verse 5 says, "Get permission To dig out."
Cheers.
P.S. I want to share how I initially got to Grand Park in case it's helpful. I was contemplating the Japan hints about Verse 5, particularly that we should think about architecture, buildings and structures for the "Weight and roots extended" lines. My wife is in the buildings industry, and she immediately thought of seismic design and retrofitting. Adding the granite reference, I started googling around and up popped articles of a retrofitting of L.A. City Hall in 1997-2001 (I note above that it was also seismically designed when built), so I pulled up Los Angeles City Hall on Google Maps, and there was Grand Park. I honestly have no idea how no one has pointed it out before given how much more closely the park matches the dress's design (without having to flip entire sections to force a fit). The entire process took all of ten minutes.
P.S.S. Cue the slow, agonizing realization that the entire community has probably been wrong about Image 1 for 40 years, as shown by a newbie in ten minutes of googling no less. 😬 If this community were being honest with itself, Grand Park would've been a major point of contention all these years. If Image 1 and Verse 5 are indeed referring to L.A., think of how many of the remaining 'generally accepted' image-verse pairings are wrong as well, not to mention other 'generally accepted' image-city and verse-city pairings. 🤦‍♂️ Maybe, just maybe, this community needs to reevaluate its puzzle solving strategy. The first step is admitting that the community might be wrong, perhaps by first removing the flairs that assume that the generally accepted image-city pairings for the unsolved images are accurate.
I want to add that as the community has seen, it's not that difficult to match verses to a given location with sufficient poetic license, so please don't read this as suggesting that Verse 5 must apply here.

2024.05.11 21:56 Candid_Improvement13 Styling advice

Styling advice
(I’m more of a Reddit lurker than I am poster, forgive me if the format is off)
I am not the most fashion forward bride, nor do I have a creative eye for what goes well with what. (For reference I am about 5’7 & 125lb with 32D ish chest)
Looking for suggestions on..
1- undergarments. I dont love the way my chest looks. I’ll be going for alterations very soon. The fabric around my neck and arms will need to be taken in a little .. if she takes in the top will that provide me more support ? If not what sort of bra should I look for to wear to the alteration? I’m trying to avoid boob tape as I have sensitive skin and prefer to be as low maintenance & comfortable as possible.
2- veil. Any suggestions on length or embellishment ? Should i try and match the lace pattern or go for a simple plain design since there is so much lace ? I’m planning on some sort of half up half down hairstyle. I plan on getting the botton clasps removed and changed to a zipper or more invisible clamps as I find the buttons too bulky.
3- jewlery. I’m obviously not going to need a necklace (I think??) my arms are very long & thin & pale .. would bracelets draw attention to that or ?
4- train. I’d prefer to be able to walk around as easy as possible. Would getting rid of some of the train here be doable/look okay ?
Any and all styling suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!
