But science keep changing and Islam don't

2024.05.08 09:17 thinkerhabeeb But science keep changing and Islam don't

I was just watching a youtube video of some Muslim apologist denying evolution, and one of the argument that guy said is "Science keeps changing" and was really smug about it. I don't understand why they take pride in the fact that changes in science somehow make it inferior. If anything, it makes science far superior than the religion which still tries to do mental gymnastics to justify a 50 year old guy marrying 6 year old child. If you're so oppose to change, why do you then still use bikes, cars, why don't you just ride camels.
Change is intrinsic part of nature, and hence of science (studying of nature). Changes show progress, and progress is good, maybe in short time it isn't but in longer period always a good thing. Hell if you haven't *changed* you'd still be peeing in your pants, you change, you learn to use washrooms by yourself. That is change.
Changes happen because we learn more and then update our understanding, and hence we could call spade a spade. We don't have to defend Einstien or Newton, or Darwin when we find out there's something wrong with theories. We do not perform all sort of mental gymnastics to make it somehow right (like a questionable morals of a 1400 year old arab man).

[Note to mods: I am SO SORRY to break the rules, but my comments are too formatting-heavy - Reddit keeps giving me error messages when I try to post them, splitting the length changes nothing, and the formatting (embedded links, etc) DOES NOT carry over when I copy-paste and try again. I've been at it for an hour. I decided to just make a separate post before I lose my mind - hope that's alright.]

“MIXED MEDIA AND ACRYLIC PAINT ON CANVAS”

You're so easy to read But the book is boring me (“Misery Loves Company”, 2006 🎵)
It is June 2023. An alert pings on your Instagram. Butter my muffins – your problematic teenage fave just posted! What has she been up to?
It's been almost a full year since EA's last communiqué. She was going to do an AMA on her new blog, Stark Raving Sane. Fans would submit their burning questions, and she would select twenty of them to answer in her next post. You could fill out a form with your name and email and question. Clearly, she didn't like some of the questions.
(Since then, the one interesting that's happened in the Asylum was when EA was listed as the opening act for one single Maroon 5 show in the Netherlands 📝, but that turned out to be – most likely – a Spotify glitch.)
You tap the notification to check out EA's comeback post. The caption reads:
Introducing 'My Heart Is A Weapon Of War,' and I painted her and I love her. Medium: Mixed media - digital (Procreate, Maya 3D Sculpting) and acrylic paint on canvas.” 🪞📝
The art style is yassified-oil-portrait-realistic, unlike anything EA has ever drawn or painted before.🪞 It's a pastel-colored portrait of a button-nosed, elven-faced woman shaped like a Rococo centerpiece. She's got an ethereal smile, a sheer pink heart on her cheek, flowers in her towering hair, and rockin' anime titties. The gold lamé of her skin-tight top blends with her actual skin at the neck, and her arms are non-existent.
You rub your eyes. This surely isn't... no. She can't possibly be serious.People in the comments are trying to be diplomatic:
EA, I've always loved and defended you, but this is clearly AI.
EA does not respond to the diplomatic people in the comments. Instead, she posts another portrait of a diaphanous woman with a cheek-heart and a weirdly levitating necklace. In another post:
Oh, if anyone is curious about my general process, I'm happy to share, as I'd love to see other artists try it. It is thus: I start in Procreate with an Apple pencil, move over to Maya/Zbrush and do some 3D sculpting and lighting to flesh things out and create otherworldly elements in incredible detail, go back to Procreate and... 📝
Commenters are now having mostly civilized back-and-forths over the ethical implications of AI. Many hope EA is reading, wondering if she is aware of those issues. Many say everything would probably be fine if EA would just admit to using AI.
EA admits to nothing and apologizes to no one. No: EA posts more art, in a slightly different, less generic style, that still looks nothing like her own. “Digital painting”, she maintains. Many are imploring EA to please end this charade and stop insulting her fans' intelligence. But then again, some fans are defending her (“She literally just explained that it was digital painting!”), so maybe she's right to do it...?
EA posts a picture of a “buried treasure” that she just randomly chanced upon – a pencil drawing from her teens, once posted on her website in the early 2000s. (It's the one I linked to earlier – the one with the “EAF” signature, and the false age, and the fire reference. Yes, this is the context in which she was posting that.) She's posting it, à propos nothing, because she literally just noticed that she still draws eyebrows the exact same way to this day! In fact, you can clearly, definitely, unmistakably see a very similar eyebrow shape in her most recent art! See?
People are gobsmacked, and dragging her to filth. Desperate loyalists are gently pressing EA to please just post a Procreate timelapse of one of her new “digital paintings”, so that people will stop calling her a fraud.
EA is happy to oblige, and posts a mini-timelapse 📺📝 of what looks like color splotches and blurs being removed from the top layer of a finished piece with the eraser tool.
I'm shriveling with second-hand embarrassment on her behalf. How is she not mortified...? 🐀
EA keeps posting. More generic AI girlies with pale skin and sad eyes, more abstract sploshes that she calls her “morning pages”, but also more Asylum member-berries (“...the original Unlaced violin part... someone please learn this!” 📝) – and more of the massive, medical-themed mixed-media sculptures that she started making the year before, even presenting a few pieces at Art Basel 2022. The difference in style is obvious to everyone but her.
She ignores the peasants screeching about AI, won't even deign address the existence of such a thing; it's all EA, OK? OK. She makes it look easy, because it is to her:
4 hours start to finish in Procreate only with Apple pencil. Did you know that [the art for a card deck she released in 2019] was the first thing I drew on an iPad, because I was recovering from a disastrous TMJ jaw surgery and my face was bandaged and I couldn't get out of bed? I didn't either until just now. 📝
...Because... because you just made it up...??
People are going full tinfoil hat now – she has to be doing this on purpose, right? She just has to.
I can’t help but find it extremely suspicious that she came back after a year of inactivity just to drop the very obviously AI-generated art pieces, refuse to forwardly acknowledge the controversy, and then immediately move on to posting a bunch of artwork that is very clearly hers. A part of me is genuinely convinced that this is some sort of publicity stunt... 🐀
What other explanation could there be to this madness?
Not everyone loves the modern art sculptures, but those are definitely her work. Some of them really have The Vibe. About a piece entitled “Manic Phase” 📺📝:
This is (...) a blueprint of brain activity during a very... interesting period. Just one of many over several years, until a very particular combination of chemicals conspired to bury them just below the surface (...) Every single day, right now, I am afraid of going back there.
Hoop, there it is. Girl... you just spent days covering every inch of a canvas the size of a patio table with spirals of text from your decade-old journals written in minuscule all-caps, after a disastrous three-week bender of trying to pass off obvious AI art as your own. Is it perhaps possible that you may be “there” already...?
The more art EA posts, the angrier people get, and the harder she doubles down. Some AI pieces are accompanied by lengthy blog posts where she elaborates on their meanings. Mostly old Asylum talking points and metaphysical ramblings (that, in some cases, only seem loosely related to the art), but also some concerning news... and another spoonful of denial for the road:
Biscuits has no tits and neither do I at present. I’ve lost them, along with my arse, and most of my muscle mass, because that’s what happens when you’ve got an auto-immune issue and it hurts to eat because your body is attacking itself. (I never say auto-immune “disease” because it’s an ugly brown and I don’t like the way the “s” that is really a “z” feels in my mouth, and it also sounds unnecessarily dramatic and that embarrasses me). I prefer not to talk about this. With anyone. I will fix it. I am fixing it. And I will be able to sing and dance. And that is all.” (“Biscuits” - Blog entry 📝)
...Well shit.
Despite her track record and the context of this disclosure, not many fans accuse EA of malingering (well, okay, some are really pissed and they do 🐀). An auto-immune disease does line up with things she has mentioned in passing for years (bad blood-works, diet restrictions, hospital visits...) – and she did look so thin in those Art Basel pictures that some people accused her covertly creating thinspo.
In light of this, some fans choose to cut EA some slack, or at least temper their disappointment with earnest sympathy and concern, as she is clearly struggling in more ways than one, and has been for some time. Others are less forgiving, pointing out that it's pretty manipulative of her to pull out the chronic illness card in the midst of the ongoing AI controversy. Everyone, everywhere, is shaking their head in sadness and disbelief.
And by everyone, I do mean a few dozen people tops. It's pretty echo-y in the Asylum halls these days.
This goes on for two months, into August 2023. The AI art drops eventually stop, but the controversy does not. EA soon restricts the comments on her Instagram. For two weeks, she shares more artworks made from old lyrics 📝 and partially melted medical supplies. Using a syringe, she glues a bazillion crystals onto a pink hospital gown. Then, one day, mid-project, she stops posting.
And as of this writing, that was the last we heard of singer-songwriter, author, actor, visual artist, and world-class violinist Emilie Autumn.

AFTERMATH

Other than broken hearts, bad health, and dwindling career prospects...?
I mean, what usually happens when a semi-obscure solo artist tells tall(ish) tales about... mainly their age and name? It took me three write-ups to explain why EA's absurd but ultimately harmless lies are relevant to anyone on Earth at all. TMZ is not interested.
Because most of EA's fabrications were so self-contained and irrelevant to anyone but her fans, most of the “consequences” remained strictly internal to the fandom. They never (as far as I'm aware) affected her interactions with the press, for instance.
In fact, there was a weird overlap between 2011 and 2014 when she still got a fair amount of new and positive media coverage, but it had become common and accepted knowledge within the active fanbase that she made stuff up. And no one beyond the walls of the Asylum cared, because why would they? Overall, EA is great at interviews: she's charming, funny, and gives amazing soundbites. Sympathetic outsiders were happy to print whatever wondrous things the dazzling lady had to say – about her connection to Alice Liddell, her artistic process, her larger-than-life projects, whatever – without much critical distance. She wasn't famous enough to fact-check or call out, and her creative license with truth made for exciting interviews. It was a frustrating time to be a grumpy EA fan!
Since the press was in on it, and the Asylum forum was strictly under EA's thumb, bitter Plague Rats took their whistleblowing elsewhere. Unofficial forums opened in the name of free speech; anonymous confessions, receipts, and snarky meme blogs started blowing up on Tumblr. But that wasn't public enough for some fans, who felt that EA should be shamed and exposed, lest anyone else “fall for her lies” like they had. So eventually, among other things, they took to Goodreads.
During the never-ending delay of the Asylum audiobook (okay, it was two years; but it felt really long) there was a noticeable influx of one-star reviews, some of which barely addressed the book at all, but went into great detail about the lies and crimes (and personal info) of its dastardly author. I don't have solid receipts for these, there aren't any screenshots – possibly because most of those reviews, while they were ad hominem attacks more than book critiques, weren't quite abusive enough 🐀 to go against Goodreads TOS. But things did escalate enough that Anne Rice felt the need to step in.
In 2015, the author of “Interview with a Vampire” – who takes cyber-bullying against novelists rather seriously... no matter what kind of novels they write 🔍 – shared someone's Facebook post 📝 about the “conspicuous, blatant personal attacks” targeted at author Emilie Autumn, along with a direct link to one such egregious review.
And that, my friends, is how EA's Goodreads page was durably purged of the really pissed-off comments, and TAFWVG's rating stabilized at a cozy 4-star-something. A bunch of indignant Anne Rice fans (or should I say, fangs? (no)) swooped in to mass-report the Asylum's most virulent escapees 🐀, while loyal Plague Rats flocked in with the 5-star reviews. Truly a bizarre week in the greater goth community.
As far as her fabrications go, that's about as intense as “open” fan retaliation against EA ever got. But it is sadly clear that ten years of successive call-out waves from her own supporters (and the mental gymnastics it must have taken to shut them out and not admit to anything, ever) have taken a toll on her general well-being, to a point where she no longer feels safe online... and seemingly can't engage with her audience, at all, in a healthy and honest way.
Slander and dissension They're parlor games to me Papers overrun with lies too mad to mention You say they never hurt you? No consequence, I'm happy We're much too far above it all – But oh no, that's not true! These wicked pastimes take their toll These tyrant vices break your soul Deliver me from all I am And all I never want to be I love you, doubt me not Re-write this plot for all to see (“Willow”, 2004 🎵)
As you can surely guess, it takes more than a handful of unsavory book reviews and anonymous call-out blogs to kill a fandom (and an artist's fighting spirit). In truth, I don't think that many people turned their backs on EA solely for her fabrications; a lot of fans were just low-key annoyed by them for years, and then it was something else that finally broke the camel's back.
There were so many something-else's to choose from.See, while EA's phony stories were an unending source of frustration, they were a mere backdrop to the years of actual, hands-on, ever-evolving drama that eventually brought the Asylum down.
And that's where we're headed in our final installments. Hope to see you there.

2024.04.10 20:44 Awespec Moral Superiority - A Webnovel.com Author's POV

Writing this post here is like hogtying myself up and leaping into a pack of wolves. But I saw a post a couple weeks ago that’s been nagging at me ever since. Then a disagreement I had with another author was the straw that broke the camel’s back. So, bring on the downvotes—I’ve got to get this off my chest one way or another.
Some of you may know me, most may not. I’m not very popular on the amazon scene, though all of that is relative. I’ve had varying degrees of success and have accumulate 700+ ratings on amazon across a series. That said, I’m mostly known as a Webnovel.com author, Awespec (also known as DD Spec on Amazon).
*OOO* *GASP* *HORROR*
I know.
I won’t lie. My initial quick-trigger wanted to go scorched earth. Well, as scorched earth as you could go when everyone seems to disagree with you. But I know that that isn’t how you change people’s minds, and while I doubt I will change many, I’ve been on twitter for long enough to know that the loudest voices aren’t necessarily representative of the whole.
So, I will try to meet you all half-way. I can only ask that you guys read as much of this as you can because it took may way too long to write all this up
I started writing semi-seriously in 2018. I was one of those authors that saw the reddit posts and said fuck no to webnovel. I went to school floundering because my patreon only made 2k a month through royalroad channels, and while this is excellent money for a self-published author, it wasn’t nearly enough as a man living in Canada to survive off of.
It wasn’t until 2021 that this changed. I was sick of school, knowing that writing was what I wanted to do with my life, but completely unable to justify it. I was lucky enough that my parents were loving and caring, and though they pressured me to get a “real degree”, they never once made me feel like they would kick me out.
So I went all-in one summer, signed the “demonic” wn contract, and the rest is history. I’ve bought a house, I have a decent car, I can live doing what I love to do and have all the freedom and flexibility in the world.
This is only my own lived experience and I do not want to claim that this will work out for everyone. I only gave this story as a baseline for where I’m coming from so all of my bias is laid out on the table. Now you know why I might side with webnovel.com, but from now on I will try to give you more than just my own lived experience:
First, I’ll start with the largest misconceptions about Webnovel, and then I’ll get into the post that triggered me afterward. I will end with an explanation about what you ARE right to dislike webnovel.com about.
>The slave contract.
-They own you and will replace you in a heartbeat?
I mentioned my amazon series for two reasons, and neither of them are to shill (they’ve already been taken down on amazon anyway, though proof of their existence is still on Goodreads). The first reason is to prove that webnovel.com does not have as tight a leash on authors as every other post around here spreading misinformation seems to claim. The second reason will tie into a later point in this post.
I can write whatever I want, whenever I want, and I could drop my wn series at any time. No one has a gun to my head to continue writing any one of my webnovel.com novels. There are no “ghost writers” on webnovel.com, nor can anyone snatch my novel from me.
I alone am not the best proof, so I bought other evidence.
If you go to webnovel.com “trending”, and adjust the filters to “All”, you will see a list of the highest earning novels in webnovel’s history.
Number 8 - Dual Cultivation last uploaded 2 months ago, and before that it went a year+ hiatus
Number 5 - Blood Warlock last uploaded 3 months ago and likewise went on a year+ long hiatus.
Number 4 - Cultivation Online recently began uploading semi-regular after a year+ long hiatus previously.
Number 12 - Versatile Superstar has not uploaded since 2022.
None of this is good for webnovel.com. Whether it is in terms of loss of money, or loss in trust of our reader base, none of this is good. If there were ghost writers, would these not be the best targets to use them on?
I honestly do not know where this misinformation came from.
>You make no money.
-What kind of promise is 400$ a month?
To be clear, most authors make next to nothing. There are many Facebook groups where it’s a celebration when an author makes a few dozen bucks, because that’s meaningful to them. The idea of making money off of something you love to do is enough for many people. It was the same for me for a long time as well even though I wanted to do it full time.
Even so, this is not true for *all* webnovel.com authors. As I said earlier, I bought I house just this past July 2023. For anyone who understands the housing market as currently constructed in Canada, they understand what sort of feat this was. Considering I live in Ottawa, the capital of the country, I’m not living in the middle of nowhere either.
I’m far from the only success story as well, but I will not expose the earnings of my fellow webnovel.com authors. If they feel inclined to, they will share a small window themselves.
The reddit post (link here) that mentioned webnovel.com offering 400$ a month just shows a clear lack of reading comprehension. It isn’t that webnovel.com will only pay you that much, it’s that if you upload consistently, they will give you *at least* that much, raising your actual cut—which is a completely different thing, obviously.
That incentive structure is no longer the same. But there’s no need to waste time getting into the details of the new structure.
>Webnovel.com is too expensive.
-Why should I spend so much to read this crap?
I have… thoughts about this. However, instead of saying what the devil on my shoulder wants me to say, I’ll continue on with what I want the second part of this post to be about: the post that triggered all of this (link here).
GuiltyThree is currently the top earning author on webnovel.com, not all-time (that’s JKS who is still makes some ridiculous fantasy bucks. Color me jealous), but month to month he’s been on top for a good while now. He’s large enough that he was worth an AMA on this reddit that pretty much hates webnovel.com, so you can imagine his size.
I will not expose Guilty’s earnings because I didn’t talk to him before making this post, but the objective reality is that he makes more than *almost* all of the current “Best Ongoing” series on royalroad.
He hasn’t seen a single penny of that money in all of 2024+ because he lives in Russia and has been dealing with bank sanctions.
The top authors of webnovel.com know this story, and maybe a few of his readers, but I say this only to say that when I saw the comments beneath that post urging everyone to go and pirate his stuff, it quite frankly made me sick to my stomach, so much so that I ended up commenting with both this burner and my actual u/Awespec account.
But, I’ll take a breath and try to deal with this systematically.
I’ve heard all sorts of justifications for piracy over the years. But for webnovel.com, they fall into basically two broad categories.
>Your stories are trash anyway, why should I pay for an unedited novel?
This is probably the worst of the two arguments though I have a visceral distaste for the latter too. Not only does it paint all webnovel.com novels with the same broad brush, the justification seems to somehow be this is stuff is low quality, but you somehow want to read it anyway?
I don’t really get all the mental gymnastics going on here, but people USED to vote with their money. Not paying for something, and then going through other channels to get them anyway isn’t voting with your money, it’s kind of just being a dick.
I think I care about the piracy less, and more about the moral grandstanding. You aren’t some arbitrator of justice because you googled a site that funnels ad-dollars to a thief.
Just to put this into perspective, webnovel is a subsidiary of Tencent, one of the largest companies in the world. This subsidiary is, quite literally, a rounding error on their tax sheets.
When they see a large number of people pirating content, they’re not thinking: oh, it’s just too expensive or the quality is too low. They’re thinking like a big company would: how do I squash this bug?
In the middle of all of that, the person you’re screwing over most isn’t the company you supposedly hate, you’re screwing over the author whose story you supposedly like enough to read, but don’t like enough to pay for.
It’s like going into a grocery store, seeing a bruised apple, stuffing it into you pocket and trying to walk out like nothing happened. No one would even think to do that, the logic doesn’t even make sense.
And back to the point about the broad brush, there are many authors on webnovel.com who go the extra mile, many who even pay editors out of their own pocket to make sure their stories are up to par.
Seeing people hand wave them away to justify their own greed doesn’t sit right with me, but let me pull back a bit. I feel my tone got a bit too antagonistic just now.
> It’s WAY too expensive. Just look at amazon and wuxiaworld, be more like them.
Well, I doubt the wuxiaworld argument is floating around much anymore. That’s because they’ve gone to a model that’s nigh identical to webnovel’s own, because their own, obviously, wasn’t sustainable. The difference is that instead of using fast passes, they’re using a time based system, etc.
Plus, wuxiaworld for a long time survived off the back of whales. They would place handfuls of chapters behind paywalls that were upwards of hundreds of dollars. Just because you’re not paying, doesn’t mean SOMEONE isn’t paying. And usually, as a man much wiser than me said, if you don’t know what the product is, you’re the product… or something like that, LMAO.
As for the Amazon argument, I find it more funny than anything else.
The reason readers love Amazon so much is because it’s a good deal for them, there’s no other reason. Amazon is a company that’s, objectively, just as bad as Tencent. They steal product designs and ideas from people using their storefronts, they nickel and dime their hard working factory workers, and they also don’t pay their authors well.
*SHOCK* *GASP*
Yes, Amazon does not pay their authors well. And I know this for the second reason I brought up my amazon series: I have personal experience.
Just because you see a few success stories, does not mean they do things any better than webnovel.com does. The Eastern Branch of webnovel.com (Qidian) has authors that make millions just like Amazon authors do. The difference is that the Western Branch you’re all familiar with is much younger, by at least ten years+.
I know what I’m saying may sound controversial. In fact, there are likely authors on Amazon reading this right now that would be first to stand up and disagree. So let me break it down for you all, and then rely on one of my own favorite authors, Brandon Sanderson.
The go-to model for readers on Amazon is KDP. Pay a subscription, read as many novels as you want. But have you ever thought about how much an author gets back from that?
KDP is based on a pool. Many buy the subscription and pay into the pool, and depending on the number of page reads an author gathers, and how that ratio works out in comparison to several thousand other writers, they get a cut of that pool.
If I write a 100k book, I can expect to get 2-3$ from that through KDP. Even if I put a book up for 4.99$, which is already pushing it for most of you, I would take home a little over 3$ just the same.
The only real proof you need that Amazon’s pricing scheme is terrible for authors is to look at the prices of books that aren’t under KDP. Most are 9.99$+, because that’s what the market has said is a much more fair price. If any one of your favourite LitRPG authors priced an ebook at that price, there’d be an arms race in /ProgressionFantasy and /LitRPG to see who could flame them the best.
Imagine being an author and writing 100k words. Some people spend years on that number of words even though many readers have begun feeling that this count is too small. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was barely over 75k words. And then someone tells you get only get 2 bucks every time someone reads it.
This isn’t even the worst part of the KDP model.
Like I said, the amount an author gets is based on a ratio. That means that Amazon is banking on the fact that you, the reader, won’t actually read that much at all. They’re hoping that you can read two to three books at best a month, or else the model wouldn’t work.
If every reader could read 10 books a month, and the subscription is only 10$, the math is pretty obvious. Amazon has to take their cut, so the author would end up making a few cents for completed read?
This is why authors watch the KDP ratio like a hawk every month, knowing that even small changes could lead to large changes in their earnings.
I pointed all of this out to say that Amazon is an excellent deal for all of you. But for authors it’s not. And if you don’t go with KDP, you’re throttled by their algorithm, basically forcing you to be exclusive with them unless you’re a huge author. Sounds a lot like webnovel.com’s contract, now doesn’t it?
And none of this even touches on what Brandon Sanderson’s main gripe was: Audible.
Brandon Sanderson is huge, he doesn’t need KDP so he didn’t complain about it. He’s never used it in the first place. But in the past he did need Audible, and the moment he didn’t any longer, he forced a huge storm in the market, helping all us little guys out.
Amazon isn’t a good company, nor has it ever been. I’m not sure where this narrative came from. If you want to be consistent, it should get just as much hate as webnovel.com.
-Are Webnovel’s prices excessive?
I will say a small bit about this.
The most popular tier of coin purchases in wn grants you 2666 for 30$ (bonuses for logging in). The average chapter price is 10 coins (this cost is by chapter, so 1k-1.2k words is considered a 10 coin chapter). That means for 30$, you can by 266 chapters on webnovel.com.
That chapter total is work anything from 266k words all the way up to 320k.
If it’s a long book, that’s 3 books worth. There are also many novels that are only around 60-70k, and that would be worth 4-5 books.
If you’re a fiend for books that are chonkers and you want to pay pennies of the dollar for them, 10$ a book would be quite expensive for you. But even then, it’s still within range of the 9.99$ used by books that aren’t on KDP.
If you take the more normal average for novels which is sub-six figures, then it’s right around 5-6$ a book, which is right in line with KDP prices.
None of this takes into account the fact that when there’s a long, ongoing series on amazon, the later books are usually priced at much steeper rates. It’s not uncommon for series to start off at 4.99$ and go all the way up to 7.99$ for later books.
Webnovel.com isn’t too expensive imho, it’s right in line with market prices. The main issue is that readers have no easy way of knowing exactly how much they’ve read unless they calculate it themselves.
As a closing statement to the price issue, I will say something else and I want to shout this from the rooftops.
NOVELS AND WEBSERIES ARE NOT THE SAME MEDIUM AND SHOULD NOT EVEN BE TREATED AS A ONE TO ONE COMPARISON IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!
Even your fastest amazon uploader takes a month to put up a new series. Most take several months, and for a long time on LitRPG series, the big dogs especially, might only upload twice or once a year.
On webnovel.com, you get your story daily. I always looked at it like express checkout or expedited shipping. You shouldn’t be paying the same price to begin with because to keep up with webnovel’s algorithm, your favourite authors have to upload daily.
And even then the prices are still reasonable.
Of course, the counter to this is Patreon, but unless you’re the mighty Zogarth who can raise a middle finger to his toxic readers, this model is hard to follow.
>In Conclusion.
Is webnovel.com perfect? Hell no. If you got a peek into the wn author’s chat in our discord, you’d know how much time we spent ranting against webnovel.com. I have some serious issues with webnovel.com.
Just to make it clear that this isn’t lip service, I’ll list a few.
-I don’t like the fact even their top authors only have the option to take a single rest day per what’s effectively 60 days. Though there’s no obligation or gun to my head, because of the incentive structure around novel features and advertisement, there might as well be.
-I don’t like the payment model. It’s 50/50, which is fair enough and near industry standard for this sort of thing. If you use podium or aethon, for example, not only do you need to give Amazon a cut, but you need to give those publishers a cut as well, so it rounds out to about the same.
My issue is that webnovel.com only splits it 50/50 after paying apple and google, which essentially thrusts some of the load of their business onto their authors, which defeats the purpose. That essentially makes it a 30% cut instead of what it should be.
-I don’t like their approach to adaptations and advertisement. Much of this ire toward webnovel.com is because they’re so bad at marketing themselves properly.
All of this being said, I would like for the discussion about webnovel.com to be a more realistic one instead of one based on a game of telephone being played by tens of thousands of people.
Anyway, I’ve said my piece.
Namaste

2024.04.03 04:20 ShaddamRabban Thank you Governing Body

A sincere thank you for waking many of us up. You are so concerned with “apostates” and “fake news” that you fail to see the amazing job you are doing of showing your true colors.
In some cases you have introduced the seed of doubt in many. The little spark that gets the critical thinking juices flowing. In others you’ve been the final drop that overflows the cup, the last straw that’s been breaking camels backs for centuries.
Please continue to dispense “new light” to us all. That light that travels at the speed of molasses. That flips faster than a gymnast. That really makes your ignorance and arrogance shine.
The governing body, um….excuse me… the Exjw community has decided that you have no power over us. And we offer those that are waking up and leaving in droves not just a hello and a pat on the back, but rather a warm hug, a sincere welcome, and unconditional love.

2024.03.30 13:18 unreal_nerual Self Confidence

Hiya! I have been struggling with my self confidence since having my baby so I thought I would reach out to other moms ♥️ Below is a little bit about my mom story, a little bit about me, and a little bit more about how I'm feeling.
Mom Info:
I am a 31yo mom of one 16 month old boy. He is breastfed once a day in the mornings and I am still on maternity leave so we spend our days visiting different programs (library, gymnastics etc). My son was born at 37 weeks so we weren't quite ready for him and it was a huge adjustment but I absolutely love being his mom and we have so much fun together. He makes me so happy and so proud to be his mom.
About me:
I have always prioritized fitness and moving my body which resulted in a 50 lb weight loss about 8 years ago (220 down to 170). At the beginning of my pregnancy I probably weighed around 180 and gained around 30 lbs during pregnancy. I was lifting weights up until 36 weeks and my son was born at 37 weeks. I have been workout out since I was cleared to after my 6 week drs appointment. I workout almost every day (weight lift, cardio etc with rest days on the weekend) but I have been hovering between 220-230 lbs now and cannot seem to lose any weight. I am not on any birth control, and am currently taking vitamin d, vitamin K2 and magnesium. I have been with my partner since April 2020 and our son was convinced April 2022.
How I'm Feeling:
Since the birth of my son (16 months), I feel like I have been very unhappy with the way I feel in my body, and my self confidence has taken a huge nose dive. It was so hard to try on my clothes post partum and realize they no longer fit me correctly, or no longer fit at all.
I cut my hair shorter (just above my shoulders) and am letting my natural colour come back in (dyed blonde for most of my life) since it was falling out as ones hair does after giving birth, and I hate the way that it makes me look. I look at old photos and I instantly tear up missing how beautiful my hair used to be. It only looks half decent when I straighten it.
I feel like I have absolutely no sense of style and all my clothes makes me feel frumpy and fat. I have never been a makeup girly but feel lately the no makeup look is making me look even less attractive. Even if I could get change my clothes or learn to do my makeup, I would still feel like fraud trying to use these things to mask that I'm fat now.
My partner and I probably have sex about once a week, and during sex he calls me hot, beautiful etc but he never says those things to me outside of sex so I mentioned it to him and he apologized and says that even if he doesn't say it out loud he does think it quite often. He mentioned he would make a better effort of trying to compliment me more. I paid more attention to the week that followed the conversation and he has not called me beautiful or anything since then. I can't help but to feel the way I feel about myself and my lack of self confidence is also impacting his attraction to me.
The straw that broke the camels back today was my son, partner and I went to an Easter egg hunt and I had my friend take a photo of us and ALL I can see in the photo is how it looks like I have 4 chins.. it is such a unattractive photo of me and even though we had an amazing time, all I been thinking about all day is that photo of me. I wanted it to be a nice photo of the three of us having fun and now all I want to do is delete it because I look so fat.
I am just feeling overall frustrated with how negatively I feel towards my body and it's really starting to have a negative impact on me. I truly cannot think about one thing that I geniuenly like about myself at this time in my life. What can I do to change this?

2024.03.19 09:05 Gold_Smart History series #1, The transatlantic slave trade and the origins of modern racism pt 1

Disclaimer : This is a long post and although Kenya wasn't adversely affected by the transatlantic slave trade ,it still offers some very valuable lessons that we can learn from.It is in our history curriculum however, the origins aren't well covered, the origins of modern day racism aren't covered either but is important that we learn how such destructive ideas are born in order to prevent them from coming up in the future.
On the 29th April, 1453 as the sun rose,it must have felt like any other ordinary day in Senegambia ,the fishermen went about their business, perhaps it was market day and people were grumbling about the price of rice ,farmers complaining it's too low and consumers complaining it is too high. Some naughty child somewhere was getting his ears pinched ,while two secret lovers met in the bush ,it was an ordinary day. There were rumours of white men in giant ships that sailed across the ocean but these were of no concern, perhaps they just made up tales by the village wanderer ,who knew and who cared anyway.
Unbeknownst to them ,thousands of miles away ,by the shores of a similar sea something was happening that would drastically change their lives because on this day Mehmed II and his ottoman army had finally breached the walls of constantinople and his soldiers had flooded into the great Byzantine city and were slaughtering the inhabitants. And with that the silk road had just been cut off, any goods from India and Asia that had to come to Europe had to pass through the land of the 'Heathens' and God knows how paying taxes to the 'Heathens' really ired the Christian Europeans.
To understand the history of the transatlantic slave trade ,we must begin to understand the history of racism, as contrary to popular belief racism didn't just pop up because the Europeans wanted a reason to justify the enslavement of Africans, they used it,yes but it had been a long time coming and the origins of racism can be found far away in the great sandy deserts of Arabia, where in 610 ,a man is said to have been visited by the angel Gabriel in a cave.
How Islam was founded is irrelevant to the story however and whether you are a believer or none believer is also irrelevant.Islam was the last of the Abrahamic religions ,a group of monotheistic religions that share a common ancestor. Christianity and Islam are very important in this context so let's examine them for a bit.
Christianity and Islam have their differences but they also share a very important similarity, they are,for lack of a better word 'jealous' religions ie they require the practicioner shun everything in his old life including cultural practises and adopt a new life that follows what the religion prescribes. This means that almost anyone from any cultural or ethnic background can convert to the new religion and become a full member of said religion and most importantly, this process is relatively easy and even the older practitioners of the religion are expected to treat the new convert of this religion as an equal ie as a fellow Muslim or Christian, remember this point because it may seem unrelated but it will become very important later on.
It is no secret that people in the ancient world kept slaves, but anyone could be a slave, slaves were prisoners of war ,debtors sold into slavery, victims of slave raids and so on in fact the English word for slave comes from the word slav ,and it is quite clear slavs are white. Now Bedouin arabs in the desert hardly need any slaves but when the muslims began expanding and building large empires ,in a relatively short amount of time the Muslim armies were on the gates of France in Tours after having conquered ,Persia, the maghreb ,Spain etc. These empires embarked on ambitious projects to build vast cities and learning centers.
These cities required a substantial amount of labour and so the demand for slaves skyrocketed, but there was a problem. You couldn't enslave fellow muslims and so these muslims set their sights on the non muslims and first in line were the Christian Nubian Kingdoms of Africa. So the muslims attacked and in 651 Ad,they made a peace treaty where the Nubians were to provide the muslims with 360 slaves each year. The persians (who had been conquered by the muslims at this time) on the other hand had discovered another source of slaves ,the lands of Ethiopia and Zanj (corresponding to modern day Somalia). These areas were non muslim and so the muslims could enslave their people without having to worry about religion. As the muslims expanded westwards they encountered the Amazigh and their camels ,the Sahara desert had been a major obstacle, since as we all know horses cannot cross the desert, but camels can...these Berbers had experience crossing the desert with Camels and could get to the place beyond the Sahara where the Arabs called 'Bahr el Sudan' (land of the blacks).
Sensing an opportunity these Berbers started crossing the Sahara to get slaves from the non muslim lands beyond, it is one of the most forgotten chapters of the slave trade, the trans Saharan slave trade..but it was there ,hundreds of thousands probably millions of enslaved Africans trekked across the desert (it is estimated that at least a 1/3 of them died ) to be sold in the markets of the Maghreb (scenes which have hardly changed even today, where thousands of poor Africans are trafficked across the desert to the Mediterranean) .These slaves were to build the new caliphate.
But soon you run into a problem ,people aren't stupid and the slaves soon come to realise that conversion to Islam will free them from bondage and so they did just that. A muslim master couldn't continue enslaving his muslims slaves (slaves are the lowest of all humans technically, they aren't even considered humans ,so when a religion tells you that a fellow muslim is your equal you can't treat them as your slave since you will also be reducing yourself to his/her status) ,but they had paid good money for the slaves . And it is here that the mental gymnastics that would lead to the racism that we see today start.
In this part I discussed the origins of the trans saharan slave trade and lightly touched on how the first seeds of what would lead to racism were planted. In the next part I will talk about how these seeds grew in the muslim world and also talk about how a parallel but not to dissimilar process occured in the christian world.
Stay tuned.

2024.02.25 23:58 GroundbreakingAd93 My Response To Jan Ryczkowski's Video On "23 Criticisms Of The Quran Debunked"

Before I begin, I would like to state that Jan is only 16 years old and seems like a pretty chill dude so I do not direct any personal tension or annoyance to him personally, only to his debunkings.
About 4 days ago, Jan posted a video called "23 Criticisms Of The Quran Debunked" wherein he debunks a very old but popular song called The Sound Of Muslims by SyeTen where he sings a song and basically kind of mocks the Quran because of scientific contradictions. In Jans video, he goes into detail about each point and supposedly "debunks" them. However, in pretty much every single point he is not only wrong, but blatantly ignores some views towards why these points are contradictory. I as an ex-muslim, will go through each debunking one by one to see where he got things wrong and why.
I will only be talking about what Jan considers to be the strongest interpretations/debunkings as he also lists very weak ones which are completely pointless to even counter so I will not be discussing those.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2seyQe9YG4&t=195s

1.Talking Body Parts

In this first contradiction it is concerning the Quran passage that talks about how after death, body parts will begin telling on their owners such as hands and ears.
"On the Day when their tongues, their hands, and their feet will bear witness against them as to their actions"-Quran 24:24
Jan says that this above quote cannot be a contradiction towards Islam as it happens post death and that you cannot scientifically disprove something that happens after death as its all about belief in Islam and that the only way for this miracle to be proven to be true is to believe in Islam.
I somewhat commend him in that he states that it is pretty much impossible to prove or disprove this being true so I wont go further than that. In my opinion I dont believe Islam is true, so I dont believe this is possible.

2.Cut up birds come to life

In this contradiction it is concerning the verse where Allah brings some chickens to life to prove to Abraham about Islam so that his heart is satisfied.
"Allah said, “Then bring four birds, train them to come to you, ˹then cut them into pieces,˺ and scatter them on different hilltops. Then call them back, they will fly to you in haste. And ˹so you will˺ know that Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.” "Quran 2:260
Jan says of course this is unrealistic but that's the point and that disbelieving in this is disbelief in God and that you cannot use it as a reason to disbelieve in God as its circular reasoning.
This does not whatsoever debunk what is occurring in the verse for the same reason, you cannot say that this event occurred because of your belief in Allah. So this verse is meaningless and contrived and your so called "debunking" of it wasn't really a debunking, you just pointed out how stupid the verse is as it simply relies on belief. (like many many many of these verses in this post!)

3.The earth was created before the stars

This contradiction points to a Quran verse where supposedly the Earth was created before stars were.
" He it is Who created for you all that is in the earth. Then turned He to the heaven, and fashioned it as seven heavens. And He is knower of all things."-2:29
"Then turned He to the heaven when it was smoke, and said unto it and unto the earth: Come both of you, willingly or loth. They said: We come, obedient. Then He ordained them seven heavens in two Days and inspired in each heaven its mandate; and We decked the nether heaven with lamps, and rendered it inviolable."-4:1-11-12
Jan points to two different counter-arguments here. The first one being that the word "Then" in arabic actually means "and" or "moreover", and that the fact that the verses quoted mean that Allah just simply talked about the earth being formed first because it was more relevant/important than the Heavens being formed.
This, just does not make any sense, why would Allah even choose to do it this way in a book that is supposedly supposed to be as clear as possible? In this context it is CLEAR that the word "thumma" is supposed to mean "then" as the verses are oriented that way. Going onto sites such as Islamawakened.com, we can see that the overwhelming consensus among dozens of scholars is that in verse 2:29 and 41:11 the word means "then" NOT "and" or "moreover" meaning that Allah DID in fact create the stars after the earth.

4.The moon emits light

This points to Quran verses saying that the moon emits its own light rather than reflecting the suns.
"placing the moon within them as a light, and the sun as a lamp"-71:16
"He it is Who appointed the sun a splendour and the moon a light, and measured for her stages"-10:5
"Blessed be He Who hath placed in the heaven mansions of the stars, and hath placed therein a great lamp and a moon giving light!" -25:61
Jan says that this interpretation is wrong because it doesn't say specifically that the Moon emits its own light and that the word for the moon "nooran" is used as a light of guidance other times in the Quran.
But again, I thought the Quran was supposed to be the source of pure, clear and misguided words from god right? Notice how none of any Quranic verses relating to the moon mention the moon actually REFLECTING its light off of the sun. None of them! Again, visit Islamawakened.com and see dozens upon dozens of translations wherein Allah not once mentions the fact that the light is reflected, it is very ambiguous and clearly is suggesting that the light is being emitted FROM THE MOON itself, not as a reflection from the sun!

5.The moon split in two.

This points to the Quran verse where the Moon was supposedly split in half.
"The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]."-54:1-3
In this refutation, Jan wrongly claims that the main argument people put against this is that there is no historical evidence for it and apparently this is because of multiple reasons such as Allah not wanting other so called prophets to take credit for it so he ONLY made the moon splitting visible in Arabia, some people were sleeping, Allah put rain and thunderstorm so people outside arabia would not see it, the event not being properly preserved, not being preserved because apparently its not that major of an event because it was brought back into one piece and finally Muhammad could not have convinced the Sahaba it happened therefore it must have happened.
Firstly Allah not wanting other so called prophets wanting to take credit for it, some people were sleeping and Allah putting rain and thunderstorms around everywhere outside Arabia so no-one else could see, I guess I can understand as a very very far reach as to why there is no historical evidence. Because again God is God and he can do whatever he wants and its circular reasoning if you dont think its possible!
But what I cannot believe in, is that it was not properly preserved because it was not "that major of an event", this is an absolutely ridiculous counter claim. Are you seriously telling me that people would not even mention or document such an insane event happening just because it formed back into a single piece after? Why would they not?? It seems that Jan is using alot of "God made it happen, and if you dont believe in God then you cant disprove it because God is omnipotent etc etc"
BUT, what Jan cleverly tries to leave out is that HE SAYS that the "main argument people put against the moon splitting is that there is no historical evidence for it" which is wrong. The main argument people put against it is that it is literally scientifically impossible for this to occur, and we have NASA scientist Brad Bailey who said "NASA scientist Brad Bailey stated, "No current scientific evidence reports that the Moon was split into two (or more) parts and then reassembled at any point in the past."

6.Elephants turned into grass by birds.

This points to this Quran quote which says that birds dive-bombed elephants and they were turned into grass.
"And He sent against them birds in flocks, Striking them with stones of hard clay, And He made them like eaten straw."-105:1-5
Jans ENTIRE refutation to this is that it was a miracle by God and you just gotta believe it and if you dont then you cant use it as a contradiction because of circular reasoning.
Oh Jan Jan Jan... next time you're in a battle, call upon God with his birds with rocks in their mouths and then we'll see if that belief gets you any far!
Seriously though, again with this refutation? Welp, I dont believe Islam is true, so I dont believe this miracle is true!

7.A.S was 950+ years old

Exact same as number 6 where Jan just says that "its a miracle and blah blah blah you just gotta believe brooooo...."

8.Human body made from 1 clot of blood

This is where the Quran supposedly says that humans are created from 1 clot of blood.
"Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh"-23:14
Jan says that the quote fits with science as the clot of blood translation could also mean leech which is what the embryo looks like in that part of foetal development, (Jan also shows a bizarre blurry image to support this hypothesis.)
The embryo that develops in the Wombs NEVER looks like a leech nor does it ever look like a clot so thats out the picture. In fact theres just A TON of things wrong with how the Quran describes foetal development, notice how no Quran verses talking about babies and embryos ever mention anything about an egg needing to be fertilised? Instead using vague and strange terms such as "lumps of flesh" and "clinging clot"?? Seems to me that Allah has no idea what the embryo looks like in a womb.

9. No evolution

In this contradiction, it states that the Quran does no mention evolution anywhere.
Jan in return says not all Muslims disbelieve in Evolution , that the Quran does not specifically outlaw Muslims from believing in it, just that Adam and Eve were miraculously made by Allah and that the evidence for Macro-evolution is limited.
Again I actually commend Jan for admitting that not all Muslims disbelieve in Evolution, however he still uses the same "You just gotta believe bro!" mindset that he's used for most of these so called "debunkings". The main problem is that he also states that there isn't much empirical evidence for macro evolution and that most of the evidence is just for homology and genealogy. This is complete bullshit, and his thought process behind why this is, is because most evidence for it works off the back of assumptions and inferences, which again is wrong. From fossil records, anatomy, embrology, experimental evolution, animal behaviour etc. There is an ABUNDANCE of this information available from books, reports, case-studies etc.
In my opinion I still believe that the Quran not once mentioning something so big such as evolution is very strange, almost as if it was made in a time where evolution was not yet discovered yet.

10. Men/Jews turning into apes

This talks about the verse where Allah says that jews were turned into apes.
"[Children of Israel] (Jews) who transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath: We said to them: "Be ye apes, despised and rejected." -2:65
Jan says there are two interpretations, the first one being that Allah simply was saying it as a metaphor and the second more prominent one is that a miracle and you gotta deal with it because Allah is omnipotent and he can do what he wants blah blah blah.
Again the first interpretation just doesn't make any sense as why would someone use turning Jewish people into apes as a metaphor, the verse very CLEARLY says that he straight up turned Jews into apes lmao. Also I like how Jan makes no comment as to the blatant antisemitism of this verse and just says Allah is omnipotent so yeah he turned those jews into apes!

11. Viruses made for our delectation

Ok gonna be honest here I have no idea wtf the verse is even meaning what the contradiction and debunking mean so Im gonna skip this one, if you do know please feel free to put it in the comments.

12. Earth was formed from smoke

This talks about the contradciton wherein the Quran states that the earth was formed from smoke
“Then He turned to the heaven when it was smoke...” -41:11
Jan in rebuttal states that this is perfectly fine with science and that he does not need to do any "mental gymnastics"(yep, Jan inadvertently says that he was using mental gymnastics for all his previous debunking's hahaha) because of the fact that the solar system was actually an enourmous cloud of dust and gas. Jan himself says that the earth and the solar system was smoke and then turned into the planets.
Jan here, is adamant on the fact that smoke means dust or gas. No it fucking does not. The definition of smoke is "the cloud of black, grey, or white gases and dust that is produced by burning something."
This definition above, absolutely does NOT describe the process of the forming of the Earth and the planets as carbon did not even exist at this moment in time, so how could smoke exist? It is physically impossible for smoke to exist in that moment of time. The early universe was incredibly dense, dust and gas. Smoke cannot fit into this equation because Carbon did not even exist and smoke is not dense at all its pretty much weightless.
This entire word "smoke" is ALL that is used for Allahs description of the early universe, a wrong word that describes a false creation of the planets. Why wouldn't Allah use specific and complex terminology is he was omniscient? Why use something very vague and blatantly wrong?

13. Worms in communities

Gonna be honest I dont know what really Syetens contradiction was talking about so help me out in the commments plz

14. Milk from cows bellies

Here the Quran states that milk comes from cows bellies.
"From what is within their bodies between excretions and blood, We produce, for your drink, milk, pure and agreeable to those who drink it."-16:66
Jan goes on and says that the Quran is talking about the digestive system and the blood which produce milk because of how the digestive system processes food into milk.
Holy shit, this I think is the biggest mental gymnastics I have seen so far. Jan goes on for a full minute or two describing a fucking cows digestive system and how Allah actually meant that its the digestive system that produces milk because of digestion. What a fucking reach, why would Allah even do this? That's like me saying "my cum comes from underneath my oesophagus and above the small intestines" and explain it by describing digestion and how that converts to being Sperm being produced in my testes.
You see how roundabout and ridiculous that is? Why didnt I just say that sperm was created in my balls? And why didnt Allah just say that milk is produced in the mammary glands?

15. Sperm comes from backbone and ribs

This talks about how the Quran says that sperm originates in between the backbone and the ribs.
"He is created from a fluid emitted- Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs"-86:6-7
Jan says that the Quran is actually referring to the seminal vesicle which is where the semen is mainly produced. He then goes onto to say that the verse basically means "the backbone and the ribs and anything that is parallel to it and the ribs" which means that because the penis is parallel to the seminal vesicle and that the seminal vesicle is above the penis the seminal vesicle is technically between the backbone and the ribs.
....ooook never mind THIS is the biggest reach on this list. Why the fuck would Allah even say it like this? In a book which is supposed to be the clearest indication of a higher omniscient power? Just fucking say sperm is in the balls! The testes are the main production area of sperm but not one verse EVER indicates this! Wouldn't saying "Man is created from sperm created in a ballsack" be way fucking easier to understand and interpret than this insane fucking mental gymnastics??? Also the prostate glands give 30% of fluid to the total semen volume but are left out of the Qurans explanation of this so called "fluid emitted".
Ive started to realise now that most of Jans debunkings are just absolutely wild mental gymnastics or just "you just gotta believe in Allah bro"

16. The night is a veil casting darkness beneath

This points to the Quran supposedly saying that night and day are veils that are pulled across by the heavens.
" He covers the night with the day, [another night] chasing it rapidly "-7:54
Jan states that the Quran is right scientifically and that its pretty ridiculous to infer this contradiction from the verse.
Holy shit, a debunking I actually agree with? Seriously after looking at dozens of translations they all seem to state that the day covers the night and chases it rapidly which can easily be described as a metaphor so well done Jan I guess for debunking this one after 15 failed attempts.

17. The dead can can be raised up with slices of cow meat

This points to the Quran saying that a man was resurrected up by cow meat.
"And We said: Smite him with some of it. Thus Allah bringeth the dead to life and showeth you His portents so that ye may understand."-2:73
Jan again for the millionth fucking time says that its a miracle and YOU JUST GOTTA BELLLIEEVVVEE MANNNN.
I DONT BELIEVE IN ISLAM SO THIS MIRACLE IS POINTLESS AND VOID AND CANNOT BE USED TO PROVE YOUR GODS DIVINTY SO THEN WHY THE FUCK DID HE PUT IT IN THE BOOK, ARGHHHH!

18. Islamic wills are complicated

This contradiction points to the fact that the Qurans will system is complicated
Jan states that it is complicated and that this is just a personal criticism and that we have skilled sheiks and mathematicians who do all the dirty work for us to understand and that nowadays we have online calculators to do all the inheritance stuff for us!
In my opinion, I agree with Jan in that yeah the contradiction is more of a personal critisicm. But I do not agree with the fact that we have skilled sheiks, mathematicians and online calculators to do the nasty work for us.
The Quran on multiple occasions claims to be a clear piece of text sent from a divine source. So then why on earth must I use these resources to figure out stuff like inheritance law, jizya tax etc. What if I did not have access to these things? Guess I'm fucked then eh?
Also, one of my own contradictions is the inheritance law. Its blatantly wrong mathematically. There are multiple situations wherein if a situation when a man dies, 12.5% is left to the wife, 66.7 is left to the two daughters, 16.7 for the father and 16.7 for the mother this means that this will add up to 112.5%.
The so called Islamic mathematicians and sheiks have come up with a method that fucking fixes the Qurans mistakes called awl! Shia infact rejects this. So the Islamic wills aren't complicated, they're just fucking flawed!

19. The moon follows the sun

This talks about how the Quran says that the moon follows the sun.
"By the sun and his brightness, And the moon when she followeth him"-91:1-2
Jan says that this is fine as an audience from 1400 years ago would have no problem in believing in this as the moon does look like it follows the sun, and then mental gymnastics his way into saying that technically the moon follows the sun because of its orbit around earth which in turn orbits around the sun.
The first interpretation does not make any sense because the Quran is supposed to be from a divine source, so why would Allah even say this? It is clear for a 7th century perspective that the moon seems to be following the sun so that makes sense as to why they would say this. The second interpretation is just another insane mental gymnastic that Allah easily could have explained effectively if he actually existed and created this damn book.

20. The moon sets in a muddy spring

This is referring to the verse which talks about how the moon supposedly sets in a muddy spring
"then, when he came to the setting of the sun, he found it [seemed to be] setting into a muddy spring."-18:86
Jan says that its just a figure of speech similar to how when we say a sunset, it does not actually mean the sun is setting.
What a shit metaphor.

21. The earth is flat

Supposedly the Quran says that the earth is flat.
"[It is He] who has made for you the earth as a bed [spread out] and inserted therein for you roadways and sent down from the sky, rain and produced thereby categories of various plants. "-20:53
Jan says that the word "mahdan" is supposed to be interpreted as a bed and about how it keeps the heat of the mantle inside of the earth, he then goes onto waffle about how mahdan is interpeted as safety and is supposed to give us safety etc etc, Jan himself states that his debunkin for this is pretty weak.
What Jan fails to even mention with this bizarre debunking is that multiple other times the earth is described as flat in the Quran, Wikislam does a good job of documenting them,https://wikiislam.net/wiki/Islamic_Views_on_the_Shape_of_the_Earth#Qur'an_20:53_-_mahdan_(%22bed%22))
Not in any, and I mean ANY is the word, "sphere" or "globe" used to describe the earth. Only "bed", "carpet", "spread out", "stretch out" etc. I think its VERY clear in what the Quran is suggesting in its idea of whether the Earth is flat or not. The whole page I linked also helps alot in other passing texts where the Earth is implied to be flat.

22. The stars will fall on the day of judgement

The Quran states that stars and a bunch of other bizarre events will come before the day of judgement.
"When the sun is darkened, when the stars fall and disperse, when the mountains are made to move away, when camels, ten months pregnant, are left untended, when the wild beasts are brought together"-81-1-4
"YOU JUST GOTTA BELIIEVEEEE BRO"

23. The Quran is easy to understand

This refers to the fact that the Quran is easy to understand when it is not.
Jan says that the Quran never claims to be easy to understand when it isnt but that we have tafsirs, scholars, sheiks etc that are here to help you understand.
My rebuttal to this is why tf would Allah expect modern mortal humans to translate his 1400 year old script into modern day languages when hes omniscient so he coulda just fucking done it himself?
In conclusion Jan echoes the same obvious apologist claims over and over whilst also drilling in his favourite quote of "You just need to have faith in it to work". The video seems to be getting eaten up by Muslims who don't even bother fact-checking or verifying anything he is saying so yeah thanks for reading if you got this far!

2024.02.24 04:36 GroundbreakingAd93 My Response To Jan Ryczkowski's Video On "23 Criticisms Of The Quran Debunked"

2024.02.13 02:36 OrganizationFalse668 [WTS] Free Indian head penny with purchase!

Open to offers on multiple items.
Free silver gram or Indian head penny or world paper note with purchase!
This is a per item offer so you can get something extra with each item you buy.
I probably won’t mind if you use this offer with multiple items but if it looks really bad for me I will reconsider.
For instance I can’t send you a free silver gram if you buy a silver gram 100 times.
