So many numbers, so little time

Many physicians, mid-level providers, practice managers, administrators, billers and front desk staff members have questions about coding. Today's demand for certified professional coders (CPCs) is growing as many jobs in the coding and billing field now require certification. Health care professionals involved in coding, compliance, billing, administration and reimbursement aspects of medicine should be certified as part of a compliance program.

2024.05.16 12:04 AutoModerator OPINION A CODE OF CONDUCT WON’T SOLVE THE SOUTH CHINA SEA CRISIS

By Rahman Yaacob - May 16, 2024
Negotiations over a “code of conduct” (COC) in the South China Sea between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China waxed and waned for two decades.
Last July, in a bid to expedite an agreement, a three-year deadline was agreed to conclude the talks.
Nothing comes easy in this multifaceted dispute. Even the title of the agreement to hurry along the talks – Guidelines for Accelerating the Early Conclusion of an Effective and Substantive COC – arguably reflects the urgency but also the complexity.
China, Taiwan, and four ASEAN member states – Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam – each have overlapping maritime claims to the South China Sea. The negotiations for the code, however, involved all ten ASEAN members with its consensus model and China.
Two major points will likely derail the objective of accelerating negotiations for a code to manage the South China Sea disputes peacefully.

“One ASEAN negotiator explained that some ASEAN negotiators turn up ill-prepared, often needing to consult their capitals for instructions on almost every discussion point.”

The first issue is the state of the talks themselves, where trust between the parties is plainly lacking. ASEAN negotiators privately explain that even agreeing on the geographical area the code should cover – termed the Zone of Applicability – has proven difficult because of the different parts claimed in the South China Sea, whereas officials on the Chinese side believe some ASEAN states are asking for the sky – i.e., demanding China to give up its sovereignty in the South China Sea. Only then, ASEAN negotiators see China changing the goalposts during the negotiations.
But not all blame is sheeted to China. Some ASEAN members are seen as laggards in the negotiations, not fully committed to the process, not believing they have much at stake in the disputes.
One ASEAN negotiator explained that some ASEAN negotiators turn up ill-prepared, often needing to consult their capitals for instructions on almost every discussion point, hampering progress, despite meetings being held five and six times annually. Wry humour has taken hold, with jokes about another agreement between ASEAN and China within the next few years to “Accelerate Further the Already Accelerating Process for the Early Conclusion of an Effective and Substantive COC”.
The second issue concerns the quality of the outcome. There are doubts whether China will be willing to sign a legally binding agreement, given that it has already dismissed the outcome of the Permanent Court of Arbitration’s ruling in 2016 against its claims in the South China Sea.
Should that hurdle be overcome, there are concerns about implementation of the code. Will there be an effective mechanism to monitor and enforce any violation?
If not, what does the code amount to? And also, given that ASEAN operates with a consensus decision-making process, will the deadline push ASEAN members to water down the substance of the agreement?

“Setting a deadline for negotiations on a code of conduct doesn’t necessarily hasten an agreement.”

Talks on the code of conduct, it must be acknowledged, are only part of the broader ASEAN engagement with China on the South China Sea. ASEAN’s efforts with China stretch back years, to 1990 when Indonesia held the first workshop on the South China Sea involving the different claimants. In the decades since, there have been efforts to engage in joint cooperation on extracting resources and protecting the environment in the disputed waters.
Yet, 34 years on, militarisation has been the dominant theme. China’s artificial islands bristle with military facilities and long runways. Beijing has adopted a more aggressive approach to asserting its claims, lasing, using water cannons, and ramming against other claimants’ boats. Vietnam has expanded its presence and deployed missiles. The Philippines is seeking to fortify its position.
So setting a deadline for negotiations on a code of conduct doesn’t necessarily hasten an agreement. Meantime, ASEAN claimants should continue to build up their capabilities and work with other external powers, such as Australia and Japan, to defend their maritime interests. Sometimes, the potential ability to inflict military pain on the other party may be just the instrument for diplomacy to work well.
This story originally appeared on The Interpreter, published by the Lowy Institute for International Policy.

2024.05.16 11:59 OliveKP Breastfeeding toddler while pregnant?

Any tips for breastfeeding during pregnancy? I’m only 6 weeks but my nipples are so tender it hurts all the sudden, after never having hurt before. It mostly hurts when she holds one boob/nip while nursing on the other (I do asked her to be gentle and she listens but she clearly finds holding the other one comforting and won’t easily stop).
I planned on weaning before trying for #2 but my toddler and I had a surprisingly wonderful, easy breastfeeding journey and I’m not quite ready for it to end (and she is really not!). She’s two now, been night weaned for over a year and we only nurse first thing in the morning and before bed, with some daytime nursing when she’s sick or having a big big meltdown. It’s 100% her favorite thing. I took an 8 day work trip and the first thing she asked when I came home was to nurse. She understands we only do it at home now, and at a certain times. But she’s definitely not on the immediate path to full weaning. I was fine with this before I got pregnant.
I love our cozy snuggle time and having a cheat code when she’s sick/upset, so I’m not ready to give it up either. I’m also already feeling guilty about how the new baby will take my attention away from her so not eager to have that start 9 months early.
One nipple was sore last night so I put a bandaid on it and told her she could only have the other boob and omg the sobs! She was so so devastated. Doesn’t bode well for an actual wean.
Then again, I think about breastfeeding a cluster feeding newborn and a toddler and just, absolutely not. Sooo not sure what my actual plan is here!
If you navigated this, please let me know how it went?

2024.05.16 11:39 IncomeTraditional995 Recovering Data Scientist here, what must I do?

Heads up!! sorry if this is a rant about my situation but I gotta get some help/opinion about how do I go about my career. I was fresh out of Uni (with a Masters in Data Engineering) and I was hired by a Media Agency as a Data Scientist 9 months ago. Before this I was a Data Science working student at a SaaS company where I learnt a lot about Reinforcement Learning, Azure Cloud, DevOps processes etc. It felt like a huge step forward as it was the first time I was seeing such services used in prod. Coming back to the time I was hired into my full time position, the Data Team before I joined consisted of 8 people 2 Senior Data Scientists and 2 mid-level, a guy who was like a product manager kind of person never knew what he actually contributed and 3 analysts (Have 0 knowledge about BI tools or code) they just had to analyse simple social media data. I was hired as a Junior Data Scientist (After 3 of the Data Scientists were fired) and to my shock I saw that there was no data infrastructure setup, I mean they had no data infrastructure at all. The data scientists used to run their own stuff on the computers never used git. No code base of what they did to refer to. They would throw up ad-hoc tasks and we had to figure a way out to get data by ourselves and do some analytics on it, data was shared as excel sheets on teams. There was no collaboration or contribution. I was left to work with 1 senior data scientist who was completely demotivated as all the others were fired. I hated the way things worked and I took it as my sole responsibility to build the data infrastructure and try to gain some relevant experience for myself. My goal was to build a simple infrastructure that resembles an end to end data engineering workflow. I started with figuring out all the data requirements, built API's to get data where its available, scrapers to get data when its not there. They were not ready to give me resources for any cloud solutions, hence they had a storage server and I used that to host my PostgresDB. For the fun of it I wanted learn Kubernetes and so I just setup a kind cluster there, used airflow as a data orchestrator and ran ETL pipelines. Soon the other data scientist can on board and was motivated to work along with me, we built some nice dashboards and provided useful insights. This is when we actually got some validation from management that our team even exists. All this was done on the side as I had to solve some NLP tasks like topic clustering, sentiment analysis and crunching some numbers and plotting visualisations. I can just feel it that this is nothing compared to what others would be working on, as I was a fresher and I built all this with what I learnt and reading Joe Reis's book. Current stack: FastAPI, Airflow, pandas, looker studio, Tableau, k8s, Little bit of CI/CD, Redis, Postgres, Docker. I feel like after this there is nothing much to build up on. What can I do to gain more experience to land a better job or better myself as I feel like i'm plateauing right now. I see all this talk about Pyspark, RabbitMQ, Hive, snowlake, databricks etc., and I do not know what to do about it.
Any help or guidance would be great. Cheers!!

2024.05.16 11:16 MsDestroyer900 Buying Minecraft for a young person is NEEDLESSLY tedious

I have been trying to buy my little brother a copy of minecraft for over 2 hours now. I am a tech savvy person and its really not like I dont know how this stuff works, but the thing is ive been trying to be completely above board with microsoft, mojang, and xbox this entire time and I just wish I was not for the whole process of this purchase.

My brother is 9. Meaning he is at the age that minecraft is rated at, 7+. Considering the fact that he is of the rated age of minecraft, none of the COPIUS amounts of checks for verification should really be there.
First off, I make him a gmail account, then a microsoft account. Now here's the thing, microsoft detects that he is 13 and under because I put his real age in. because of this, he is required to have a parental account linked to him and Im forced to have a family account with him. I find this all to be reasonable enough, and it is done by simply logging into my own account.
I really thought this would be the end of it. I would maybe adjust permissions here and there and it would be fine and dandy. But no.
I go to minecraft.net and log into his account to just buy minecraft and get on with it. But turns out, since he is under 13, he needs a family member to approve the purchase. Ok, fine. but how?
There is a button telling you that a message has been sent to the adult about the request but it does not say whatsoever where this message has been sent, instinctively I thought it would appear in my email as some sort of one time code, 10 mins pass, nothing turns up. Turns out, googling this issue, I have to install a fucking app to even get this notification. ok so I do, I install the app on my phone, logging in and going through 2FA again, and also have to deal with microsoft aggressively trying to take over my phone's autofill, but I did it, and nothing comes through, I wait 20 mins, nothing happens on the stupid app. so I try again, from opening the WINDOWS STORE on my own computer and get the app there. go through 2FA AGAIN to finally see the notifcation on my top right for that request to buy minecraft. Neat. except wait, it is asking for it in dollars, not in my currency, Philippine peso. I thought this would be fine, but later on it asks for my card details in the US, which im not based in. I thought I should be above board with this, and googling tells me I can change this by logging into my own microsoft profile and adding payment details there.
I do this, and yes I could change to PH there, GREAT. Finally, I can give them my money and just buy the game, but WAIT A SECOND, my payment information is still not yet on the family desktop app. its been another 20 mins, and the notification comes through on my phone, where I think maybe itll be updated there, but I never figure out of it does update overthere, because upon clicking the approve button, it opens up a window to what seems to be microsoft store page and 404's. fucking brilliant.
Turns out, on Minecraft.net, I have to switch the region youre trying to buy minecraft from from US, to whatever country, THEN hit F5 to refresh the page, and THEN you can press the button to request the parent for consent, and then finally everything will work to the correct country. Christ almighty, I thought I was done, just buying the game and launching minecraft for my little brother so we can play LAN.
Except, no.
Turns out, now that this computer is tied to someone who is younger than 13, literally every single app that is opened is tracked and flagged by microsoft for being a potentially bad app. and so, now, I have to fucking approve every single app that I open on the mobile app, and I cant even approve them globally, it has to be done case by case and is really slow since it works as some sort of DRM or something. so I cant run the installer, because the installer requires access to the Microsoft store, and I guess it just cant get the correct permissions? So it errors out until I try to get the installer directly from the microsoft store, but since the store is so dogshit, its just constantly stuck on pending and I cant stop it for some reason.
In the end I try to restart his computer in an attempt to force stop the "pending" thing with the minecraft installer and of course, I get a forced windows update.
AAAAAA
...after the restart, the windows store worked, I got the installer, and I ran java edition to try it out, see if it works. I tried buying it for him at 12:30 when I arrived home from school, it is now 2 o clock, and I had a class at 3. so I just wanted to see if things were ok. and of course, I see that MULTIPLAYER IS GREYED OUT.
Like the one thing I wanted to do with him is to do LAN, but he cannot lan with me if multiplayer is greyed out. at this point I was too frustrated to try and I go to school for my class and deal with it when I come back.
When I come back I do some googling to see what I can do, the minecraft sceen tells me to go to my brother's microsoft account settings to get it fixed, but nothing of the sort seems to come up at all in regards to that in the settings dashboard. I do even more googling but the articles keep talking about an Xbos family app? I already have a microsoft family app and minecrafts diagnosics are tracked in the family app so I think the permissions are somewhere there. I keep looking for a solid 30 minutes now, and I come to realize, oh shit XBOX FAMILY APP IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT APP.
WHY is it on a different app? why do I need two?? OK, fine, ill download it. But, to my utter shock, the Xbox Family Settings App, is NOT AVAILABLE IN MY COUNTRY. And the kicker? THERE IS NO DESKTOP ALTERNATIVE.
I am completely baffled. If I wanted to keep above board with all of this, I would have not only gone through this tedious process, but in the end I would have only had a java edition or bedrock edition account that is effectively useless as it can only play singleplayer because I cant get the xbox family app in any legal way. This is utterly unacceptable.
Who am I even gonna complain to? there are 3 different entities involved here, mojang, microsoft, and xbox, who would I even speak to to try and get any of this resolved???
I'm stunned.

TL;DR legally buying a copy of Minecraft for a young person is littered with constant 2FA checks, parental control shenanigans, and app bloatware that is imposed for zero reason whatsoever other than to inaugurate you into the Microsoft ecosystem. If you want to have a smoother experience, it would be easier to just lie about said young person's age.
Edit: I know, there is a way I can get around this in an easier way. I could use more dubious means of getting things done, but I wanted to keep things official through Microsoft and Mojang since I plan on having this be my little brother's main Minecraft account like I have mine that I really hold dear to my heart. Having things done officially is what I hope will keep his account supported properly in the far far future like how I have had mine for 7 years now.

This comprehensive guide explores 15 remarketing strategies tailored to boost enrollments for digital marketing courses in Raipur. By leveraging these tactics, you can create targeted, personalized campaigns that effectively convert interest into action.

What is Remarketing?

Definition and Importance

Remarketing is a digital marketing technique that targets users who have previously visited your website or interacted with your content but did not complete a desired action, such as enrolling in a course. It involves displaying tailored ads to these users as they browse other websites, use mobile apps, or search on Google, reminding them of your offerings and encouraging them to return and convert.

Types of Remarketing

There are several types of remarketing, including:

How Remarketing Works

Remarketing works by placing a small piece of code, called a pixel or tag, on your website. This code collects data about visitors and their interactions. When these users leave your site without converting, the collected data allows you to serve them targeted ads across various platforms, nudging them to return and complete the conversion process.

Benefits of Remarketing

Increased Conversions

Remarketing targets users who have already shown interest in your digital marketing course in Raipur, making them more likely to convert compared to new visitors. By reminding them of your course offerings, you can significantly boost your conversion rates.

Enhanced Brand Recall

Repeated exposure to your brand through remarketing ads helps keep your digital marketing course top of mind. This increased brand recall can lead to higher conversion rates as users are more likely to choose a familiar brand.

Cost-Effective Advertising

Remarketing is cost-effective because it targets a specific audience that has already expressed interest in your offerings. This focused approach reduces wasted ad spend and increases your return on investment (ROI).

Competitions

These are essentially blockchain-based lotteries with prize pools funded by ticket purchases. However, the results are determined transparently by smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain rather than a traditional lottery draw.
Each competition has a set number of tickets available for purchase at different price tiers. For example, you might be able to get 50 entries for 0.012 ETH or go bigger with 2,000 entries for 0.36 ETH.
The smart contracts then randomly select the winning tickets/wallets in a fully auditable and verifiable manner thanks to the transparency of the blockchain ledger.

Current competitions offer prize pools ranging from a couple of ETH up to jackpots worth thousands of dollars. And best of all, MetaWin provides every player with one free ticket just for joining the Telegram community!
By harnessing blockchain technology, MetaWin competitions guarantee true randomness and fairness that is open for verification by anyone. It adds an exciting crypto twist to lottery-style games.

NFT Prizes

In addition to ETH prizes, some MetaWin competitions let you win valuable NFT collectibles from popular collections like Beanz and Killabears that trade on marketplaces like OpenSea.
MetaWin NFTs
There’s even the ability to gain entries into these special NFT competitions by holding certain requisite NFTs from the collection. It’s an innovative way to engage existing NFT fans and collectors.
With NFTs being all the rage, scoring rare and valuable pieces through MetaWin’s smart competitions adds an element of gamification that blends perfectly with crypto gambling.

Welcome Bonuses

While most online casinos offer a standard deposit match bonus, MetaWin takes a different approach that’s tailored to its innovative blockchain competitions. Here’s how it works:
As soon as you connect your crypto wallet to MetaWin, you’ll automatically receive 1 free ticket entry to the current big prize competition running at the time.
For example, the most recent competition had a prize pool of 5 ETH (over $9,000 at current prices!). Just by signing up, you get a free lottery ticket for a chance to win that huge prize.
But MetaWin doesn’t stop there. You can then purchase additional entries at discounted rates to increase your odds significantly:
  • 50 additional entries for 0.012 ETH
  • 165 additional entries for 0.036 ETH
  • 780 additional entries for 0.156 ETH
  • 2,000 additional entries for 0.36 ETH
As you can see, the more entries you purchase, the bigger the discount per entry. So maximizing your investment can pay off massively if you hit that smart contract jackpot.
With each new competition cycle, the prize pools reset with new opportunities to win big payouts or rare NFTs just for joining.

Design & Usability

MetaWin has a clean and modern website design that makes it easy to navigate the platform’s different sections like slots, table games, live casino, and competitions. The minimalist user interface puts the focus squarely on the games and features, creating an uncluttered experience.
That said, the website can feel a bit bare-bones at times due to its stripped-back, decentralized nature. There aren’t a ton of flashy graphics or extraneous visual elements, which some users may see as a pro or con depending on their preferences.

The use of WebGL and live animations does give the game lobbies a more dynamic feel, while still maintaining performance nicely across devices. You’ll see things like the roulette wheel spinning in the background as you browse game options.
Usability is well thought out, with handy filter and sorting options that let you quickly find the type of game you’re looking for, whether that’s Megaways slots, specific table games like baccarat, or titles from certain providers. The favorites system is also convenient for keeping your preferred games organized.
For a Web3 crypto platform, MetaWin has achieved a great balance between an easy-to-use interface and giving users all the benefits of blockchain like transparency and verifiability.

Members Area

MetaWin takes a unique approach to its “members area” by leveraging blockchain technology and crypto wallets. Rather than a traditional account system, your Ethereum wallet essentially becomes your MetaWin account when you connect it to the platform.
Once your wallet like MetaMask is securely linked, you’ll have access to MetaWin’s full suite of games, competitions, and features. Your wallet address serves as your identifier, with all transactions, winnings, tickets, and NFT prizes directly deposited to your wallet’s balance.
The members area experience is quite stripped back compared to conventional online casinos. There are no bloated account sections or pages full of personal details and payment info. Everything is kept anonymous through your encrypted wallet connection.

However, you still get a handy dashboard view that lets you track your gameplay activity, competition entries, current wallet balance, and any NFTs you may have won. This members overview area provides all the essential data you need about your MetaWin gaming in a clean, easy-to-digest interface.
You can also quickly jump to the game lobbies, hop into competitions, purchase additional entries, or withdraw winnings straight from this main account area with just a couple clicks. It’s a lean experience free of clutter, putting the focus on gaming and prizes.

Mobile Offering

Rather than having dedicated iOS or Android apps, MetaWin has been optimized to work seamlessly on mobile web browsers across all devices and operating systems.
Simply navigate to the MetaWin website from your smartphone or tablet’s web browser and you’ll be automatically loaded into the mobile-friendly version of the platform.
The entire site has been designed responsively to provide an ideal user experience no matter the screen size or aspect ratio. All the games, features, and account areas translate perfectly to mobile layouts.
You’ll be able to easily browse game lobbies, with smart filtering and sorting options that make finding your preferred slots, tables, or live dealer games a breeze on mobile. Game launches are lightning fast with no bulky plugins required.

Connecting your crypto wallet like MetaMask is just as straightforward on mobile as desktop. Most mobile wallets can simply scan the provided QR code for effortless linking to MetaWin.
From there, you can make instant deposits, purchase competition entries, gamble, and cash out winnings all within your mobile browser. No downloads or installs needed – just MetaWin’s sleek mobile web interface.
The clean, stripped-back design philosophy helps deliver an incredibly smooth and lightweight user experience optimized for mobile data and connectivity.

Ease of Use

One of MetaWin’s biggest strengths is its sheer simplicity and ease of use. The entire platform has been designed around providing an effortless web3 gambling experience that leverages the advantages of blockchain technology.
Getting started takes just seconds. There’s no lengthy signup process or account registrations. All you need to do is connect your existing Ethereum wallet like MetaMask to the MetaWin website with a couple clicks. Your wallet acts as your secure, anonymous ID.
From there, the user experience is extremely intuitive. The clean website layout makes it easy to find and filter through the various game lobbies for slots, tables, live casino, and more. Descriptions and instructions are clear and straightforward.
Actually placing wagers is as simple as can be, with no convoluted payment flows. Since you’re betting with the ETH already loaded in your connected wallet, you can start playing games instantly. Winnings are automatically credited back to your wallet’s balance.
Purchasing entries for the innovative blockchain competitions works in the same seamless fashion. You can buy tickets directly from your wallet balance with just a few clicks.
Withdrawing is also hassle-free with no lengthy cashout periods. You can instantly transfer your ETH winnings from MetaWin directly back into your personal crypto wallet whenever desired.

Customer Support

Despite its streamlined, decentralized approach, MetaWin does not sacrifice quality customer service. Players have multiple channels to get timely assistance whenever needed.

Email Support

For general inquiries or more complex issues, you can email the MetaWin support team directly at [support@metawin.com](mailto:support@metawin.com). They strive to respond to all emails within 24 hours during normal operating hours.

FAQ Section

MetaWin also provides a comprehensive FAQ hub covering common questions about the site’s features, security, games, and more. This is an excellent self-service resource for quickly finding answers to basic queries on your own.
While phone support is not provided, the email, live chat, and FAQ options should sufficiently cover most customer service needs that may arise during gameplay at this web3 crypto casino.

Conclusion

MetaWin is truly blazing a new trail in the world of online crypto gambling. This pioneering platform leverages blockchain technology to deliver an anonymous, secure, and provably fair gaming experience like no other.
From just connecting your Ethereum wallet, a world of possibilities opens up. You can enjoy slots, table games, live dealer tables, jackpots and more from trusted developers like Pragmatic Play. All while maintaining complete privacy by never having to provide any personal information.
MetaWin’s real innovation shines through its unique blockchain competitions and opportunities to win big ETH prizes and coveted NFTs through transparent smart contracts. The random, cryptographically-verifiable results of these events guarantee a level playing field.
Add in benefits like instant, fee-free payouts directly to your wallet and MetaWin provides a glimpse into the future of web3 gaming. An experience built on the fundamentals of anonymity, autonomy and decentralization.
Is it a perfect platform? Perhaps not quite yet. The game library is still growing and being limited to just Ethereum may turn some users away. But MetaWin is undoubtedly at the vanguard of blockchain gambling.

Is MetaWin Gambling Site Legit? MetaWin Reviewed & Bonus Revealed in 2024
MetaWin is an online gambling platform that supports classic casino games, instant-win competitions, and NFT collectibles. Players benefit from anonymous accounts, instant payouts, and high RTP (return-to-player).
MetaWin
But that begs the question: Is MetaWin legit? In this MetaWin review, we cover everything from safety and legitimacy to available games, payments, user experience, and much more.

What is MetaWin?

MetaWin is a popular gambling site that operates on the Ethereum blockchain. As a decentralized platform, MetaWin allows players to gamble online without revealing their identity. In fact, players are not required to open an account – let alone upload KYC documents. Instead, players simply need to connect their wallet to the MetaWin website to begin gambling.
So what games does MetaWin offer?
There are three core divisions on the MetaWin platform. First, there are MetaWin competitions. These are similar to online lotteries but with a core difference – results are determined by smart contract technology. In other words, competition outcomes are guaranteed for their randomness and fairness. Best of all, many MetaWin competitions are free to enter. But to increase the chances of winning, players can purchase additional tickets.
MetaWin Crypto Gambling Site
Another segment of the MetaWin platform is instant-win games. This covers a wide range of classic and new-age casino games. This includes popular table games, including baccarat, roulette, and blackjack. These games are backed by regulated software providers like Pragmatic Play. MetaWin also allows players to access live dealer table games. This offers a real-world casino experience but with cryptocurrencies.
What’s more, MetaWin also offers a wide range of slot games, including plenty of megaways and jackpots. Our MetaWin review also found that the platform allows players to win NFTs. These are popular NFTs that trade on OpenSea and can be won via a lottery-style competition.
Not only does MetaWin offer a broad selection of gambling products alongside anonymous accounts, but payouts are instant. Players can move funds between their wallets and the MetaWin platform at the click of a button. MetaWin supports some of the best crypto wallets, including MetaMask. That said, those looking for a Bitcoin casino will be disappointed – as MetaWin only accepts Ethereum.

MetaWin Pros and Cons

Still exploring the question: Is MetaWin legit? Below, we summarize our MetaWin review with the platform’s best and worst features:
Pros
  • One of the best Ethereum casinos for 2024
  • No account required – gamble anonymously by connecting a crypto wallet
  • Instant payouts
  • Supports slots, table games, and live dealers
  • Lottery-style competitions backed by Ethereum smart contracts
Cons
  • One of the newest crypto casinos in town – so has a limited track record
  • Only supports Ethereum

Is MetaWin Regulated & Licensed?

MetaWin is a blockchain-based casino that allows players to gamble anonymously. The main caveat here is that, unlike traditional gambling sites, MetaWin is not regulated. This isn’t a huge surprise considering the anonymous nature of cryptocurrencies in general.
Crucially, players will need to assess the risks of using an unlicensed casino when gambling online. If privacy and anonymity are important factors, then a compromise on regulation needs to be had. That said, many of the games available on MetaWin are backed by Pragmatic Play.
For those unaware, Pragmatic Play is one of the most reputable casino software providers in the market. What’s more, Pragmatic Play is regulated by the UK’s Gambling Commission. This ensures that instant-win casino games on MetaWin are true, fair, and 100% random.
MetaWin Slots

Is MetaWin Secure?

While some players might feel uncomfortable using an unlicensed casino, our MetaWin review found that the platform offers a safe gaming experience.
First and foremost, there is no requirement to enter any personal information or contact details when registering. Nor do players need to upload a government-issued ID or proof of address. This ensures that players avoid being a victim of identity theft and fraud.
Another safeguard is that players do not need to enter sensitive financial information into the MetaWin website. On the contrary, players only need to link their wallets via an encrypted connection. For example, many MetaWin players opt for MetaMask. Before the wallet is connected, MetaMask will ask for authorization. This ensures that only the wallet owner can transfer funds to and from MetaWin.

The Transparency of Blockchain-Based Gambling Transactions

We also found that the blockchain-based nature of MetaWin is a great safety net. For instance, consider that all Ethereum transactions are posted to the blockchain. This means that players have undeniable proof of deposits and withdrawals. While there should be any issues in this regard, this is a handy safeguard if a payment doesn’t arrive on time. That said, MetaWin payments are almost always credited instantly.

Is MetaWin Fair?

One of the most important metrics to explore when gambling online is the fairness of gaming outcomes.
There are two segments to this discussion. First, MetaWin competitions are backed by smart contracts. While instant-win casino games like blackjack and slots are provided by third parties.
Let’s explore the fairness of MetaWin games in more detail.

Smart Contract-Backed Competitions

As we cover in more detail shortly, one of the most popular gambling products on MetaWin is its competition. For example, an ongoing MetaWin competition is offering a 5 ETH prize pot. Based on current ETH/USD prices, the competition is valued at over $9,000.
But is MetaWin legit? And are its competitions fair?
First and foremost, MetaWin competitions are blockchain-based. Winners are determined randomly via a smart contract agreement. This ensures that MetaWin competitions are 100% true, fair, and random.

But why? Well, smart contracts are executed via the Ethereum blockchain. More importantly, Ethereum smart contracts are open source. This means that the underlying smart contract code is publicly available, meaning anyone can view and audit it. This ensures that MetaWin competition outcomes are transparent.
Moreover, smart contracts ensure that competition outcomes are completely random. This gives everyone a fair chance of winning. At any time, players can check the smart contract transaction to verify this. Not only will this show the randomness of the smart contract but the winning wallet address.

Instant-Win Casino Games Backed by Regulated Software

The vast majority of online casino sites have their games supplied by software providers. MetaWin is no different in this regard. However, MetaWin is a brand-new platform, so it has only secured a deal with one software provider to date – Pragmatic Play.
As noted earlier, Pragmatic Play is a regulated software provider with a long-standing track record. And, as Pragmatic Play is regulated by the UK’s Gambling Commission, its games come with a full host of safeguards that ensure fairness and integrity.
For example, one of the key requirements stipulated by the Gambling Commission is that new casino games must go through a testing house process. Put simply, this means that the casino game must be tested and audited before it is licensed to platforms like MetaWin. This means that all of the slots, table games, and other gambling products on MetaWin are random and fair.
Not only that but the UK Gambling Commission also requires security audit reports from the software providers it licenses. Once again, this ensures that MetaWin casino games are legitimate and credible.

What Games can you Play at MetaWin?

Now that we’ve covered the safety and security of MetaWin, we will now take a closer look at its gaming suite.
We’ll break down each gambling product so players know what to expect before proceeding.

Slots

MetaWin offers a broad range of slot titles to suit all tastes. Some of the most popular slots available are Gates of Olympus, Sweet Bonanza, African Elephant, and Rock Vegas.
MetaWin also offers a huge selection of Megaways slots. These are slots that often come with over 100,000 active paylines. When a player lands a winning combination, the respective reels will ‘refresh’, meaning new symbols will drop. This allows players to land multiple wins on the same spin.

Some of the best Megaways slots available on MetaWin include 5 Lions, Big Bass, Buffalo King, and Curse of the Werewolf. Other popular titles include Great Rhino, Madame Destiny, Fury of Odin, and Floating Dragon.
We also found that MetaWin is popular for Drop & Win slots. These are slot games that randomly trigger bonuses and features – adding to the excitement. Some of the most popular Drop & Win slots on MetaWin include 3 Dancing Monkeys, Big Bass Splash, Book of Fallen, and Chili Heat.

MetaWin Slot Filters

We like that the MetaWin slots department comes with additional features.
For example:
  • Players can easily find a suitable slot by using the filters.
  • Players can filter by the slot type, such as Megaways, classic, and cluster.
  • Players can also search for their favorite features, including multipliers, free spins, and bonus buys.
  • Alternatively, players can find suitable slots by the theme. This includes everything from Asian and fishing to fruits, money, and holidays.
We also like that slots on MetaWin can be played in demo mode. This allows players to take the slot game for a test drive before risking any money. Players can seamlessly switch between real and demo modes at any time.

Table Games

In addition to slots, MetaWin also offers a wide range of table games.
For example, players can access European roulette, which comes with a lower house edge than its American counterpart. After all, there is only one green zero to contend with. The RTP on MetaWin roulette is 97.30%. That said, we were disappointed not to see French roulette or any other popular variations.
Nonetheless, MetaWin also supports blackjack games. There are many blackjack variations to choose from, including Speed, Azure, and The Club. Each offers a slight twist on the classic variation of blackjack, so check the rules and RTP before selecting a title.
Additionally, MetaWin also offers classic baccarat. This will appeal to players seeking casino games with the lowest house edges. For example, the RTP on banker and player bets is 98.94% and 98.76%, respectively.

Live Dealer Tables

Our MetaWin review also found that the platform supports live casino dealers. Just like its software games, tables are backed by the regulated provider Pragmatic Play.
Supported live dealer tables include blackjack, roulette, and baccarat. The table is beamed to the player’s screen via an HD camera. Players make their hand decisions virtually, and then the dealer will action it in real life. This allows MetaWin players to enjoy a real casino experience without leaving home.

Another feature of MetaWin live dealer games is they support casual players and high rollers. For example, some tables come with a minimum bet size of just $0.10. While VIP tables allow bets of up to $5,000 per round.
MetaWin also supports Mega Wheel. This is a live game show that spins a wheel containing various multipliers. For example, if the player gambles $50 worth of ETH and the wheel lands on 100x, they will win $5,000.

Competitions

Another popular gambling product on MetaWin is its competition. As we briefly mentioned earlier, competitions are not too dissimilar to a traditional lottery. But unlike traditional lottery games, winners are determined by smart contracts. This ensures a transparent and fair gambling experience.
So how do MetaWin competitions work?
First, players will need to obtain a ticket to enter the competition draw. MetaWin offers one free ticket to all players. However, the password to unlock the free ticket must be claimed via the MetaWin Telegram group.

That said, to stand the best chance of winning, players can also purchase additional tickets.
There are four options in this regard:
  • 50 entries: 0.012 ETH
  • 165 entries: 0.036 ETH
  • 780 entries: 0.156 ETH
  • 2,000 entries:0.36 ETH
As per the above, the more tickets that are bought, the lower the cost price. For example, 2,000 tickets can be purchased for 0.36 ETH. This translates to 0.00018 ETH per ticket.
Purchasing 50 tickets, however, costs 0.012 ETH. This brings the average ticket price up to 0.00024 ETH. An ongoing MetaWin competition is offering a total prize pot of 5 ETH. There are currently 105 participants, each with varying numbers of entries.

MetaWin Wallet Connect & Accepted Deposit Methods

MetaWin offers a simple, anonymous, and fast payment process. The only way to deposit funds is by connecting a wallet to the MetaWin website.
Players can choose from MetaMask or the Coinbase Wallet. MetaWin also supports Wallet Connect. This means that more than 300 additional crypto wallets are supported. If opting for Wallet Connect, MetaWin will display a unique QR code. The player will need to scan the QR with their mobile wallet app. Those using a desktop wallet can copy the QR code in text format and proceed to make the payment.

Payments with MetaMask are even more seamless. After clicking on the ‘Connect Wallet’ button and selecting ‘MetaMask’, a pop-up notification will appear. MetaMask will ask for confirmation of the connection, and that’s it – the player can deposit funds.
Irrespective of the wallet used, it is important to remember that MetaWin only supports Ethereum. No other ERC20 tokens will be supported. Moreover, there is no minimum deposit requirement on MetaWin. However, players will need to consider GAS fees.

How do MetaWin Withdrawals Work?

  • Withdrawing Ethereum from MetaWin is very simple.
  • Players simply need to click on the ‘Wallet’ button and type in the amount they wish to cash out.
  • The wallet will already be connected to the MetaWin website, so there is no requirement to enter the receiving address.
  • After confirming the withdrawal, MetaWin will release the payment instantly.
  • Therefore, the Ethereum tokens should appear in the player’s wallet in seconds.

MetaWin NFTs

Another popular feature of MetaWin is it allows players to win NFTs. Currently, there are three NFTs available, and both trade on OpenSea.
First, is the ‘Beanz’ NFT, #12022. MetaWin states that this NFT is currently worth $2,755. While there are lower floor prices on the OpenSea website, #12022 comes with rarer traits. In order to stand a chance of winning this NFT, players must hold at least two ‘Reepz’ NFTs. These currently have a floor price of 0.07 ETH on OpenSea, or about $130.
MetaWin is also hosting NFT competitions on the ‘Killabears’ collection. There are currently two individual collections. #9 is currently valued at $3,637. While #2117 is valued at $5,511. These figures are provided by MetaWin, so be sure to check the floor prices on OpenSea before proceeding.

Unlike the Beanze NFT competition, there is no requirement to hold another NFT to enter. Instead, players can buy tickets. 1 ticket costs 0.019 ETH. But lower cost prices are available when buying a larger quantity of tickets.

MetaWin Bonuses

One of the main drawbacks of MetaWin is that it does not offer a welcome package to new players. Nor does it offer any regular promotions for existing players.
Those looking for generous welcome packages and promotions can check out our guide on the best Bitcoin casinos for 2024.

Is MetaWin Legit?

Now that we have explored the platform from top to bottom, let’s evaluate the question: Is Metawin legit?
On the one hand, MetaWin is a new casino site with a limited track record. Moreover, MetaWin operates without a casino license. That said, this is standard practice in the blockchain gambling space. After all, operating away from traditional gambling bodies allows players to gamble anonymously and privately.
Furthermore, MetaWin instant-win games are backed by Pragmatic Play. This is a reputable and regulated software provider with a great reputation. All of the Pragmatic Play games supplied to MetaWin have gone through a testing and auditing process, enduring fairness. Its lottery and NFT competitions are also legit. As mentioned, these are backed by open-source smart contracts. Gaming outcomes are guaranteed for their fairness, and the underlying code can be checked at any time.

All that being said, MetaWin does come with its drawbacks. For example, its gaming suite is limited when compared to other crypto casinos. While it covers the most popular gambling products, the number of available titles is small. This will likely increase once MetaWin forms partnerships with additional software providers.
Another drawback is that MetaWin does not offer any casino bonuses. This means that players are not incentivized to open an account and remain on the platform long-term. We were also disappointed to see that MetaWin only supports Ethereum payments. Those looking to deposit Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will need to look elsewhere.

Conclusion

In summary, we found that MetaWin is a legit casino that offers a broad selection of games, generous competition payouts, and anonymous accounts.

2024.05.16 08:18 haygurlhay123 “This Time, I Will Never Let You Go”: Cloud’s Mission and the Hidden Purpose of the Remake Trilogy - Literary and Musical Analysis of FFVII - Part 2

(continuation of part 1)

III. Searching for Aerith Beyond FFVII

There were absolutely no answers in Remake or OG (at this point in my research, Rebirth wasn’t released yet), no matter how much I looked; nothing at all hinted at how Cloud could’ve obtained the memories of OG that emerge in Remake as MOTFs. I knew I had to look elsewhere to search for more clues, so I decided to check every piece of media ever released by SE with a mention of Cloud or Aerith in it, digging for hints in the compilation and beyond.
And boy, did I find them.
III. a) Core Worlds and Suspension Worlds
There are a couple of general FF rules that we need to establish before going forward.
It’s important to note that there are multiple realms in which the FF stories take place, each with a different name, history and society. This ensures that all FF stories occur separately, never intercepting or interacting— though they do have creatures like moogles and chocobos in common, as well as concepts like airships, gil, magic and some form of crystal. For simplicity, I will refer to these separate worlds in which the numbered FF games (FFI, FFII, FFIII, etc) occur as “core worlds”.
Characters from different core worlds may appear together in non-numbered FF games, the events of which have no impact on the core world at all: it seems that sometime after a FF character has reached the end of their core world’s plot-line, they may somehow be summoned to far-removed realms where they will face new adventures. I call these far-removed realms “suspension worlds”. One example of a FF game that takes place in a suspension world is Dissidia Final Fantasy, wherein characters from multiple core worlds unite to accomplish a mission as a team.
III. b) Final Fantasy Tactics
First on our list of non-compilation SE games to explore is 1997’s Final Fantasy Tactics (FFT), a game whose plot takes place in the suspension world of Ivalice. Let’s plot out the relevant events, and then analyze!
III. b) i. Fact-Finding
The main character of FFT, Ramza, encounters a brunette flower peddler with Aerith’s iconic, gravity-defying bangs:
\"Aeris\" in FFT's Ivalice
If you choose to buy a flower from her, she express her relief: apparently, business isn’t going well because no one is interested in flowers. The girl wistfully dreams aloud:
“When is my knight in shining armor going to take me away from here...?”
Later, Ramza and his companions encounter a mysterious machine that can summon people from across universes. The machine is activated, and a rather rude young man with spiky blonde hair appears. Cloud claims he used to be in SOLDIER, and says the last thing he remembers is “getting stuck in the current”. He looks to be disoriented and lost, and suffers from piercing headaches. Mere moments after being summoned to Ivalice, Cloud rambles:
“What’s this? My fingers are tingling… My eyes… they’re burning… Stop… stop it [Se]phiroth…”
He dashes out of the room, but not without announcing:
“I must go… must go to that place…”
Outside, Cloud encounters the brunette flower girl Ramza met earlier. She offers Cloud a flower, but he only stares at her wordlessly:
“Flower girl: Buy a flower? Only 1 gil.
Cloud: …
Flower girl: Something wrong? Do I resemble someone?”
Cloud: No… it’s nothing.”
As soon as Cloud leaves, a gang of ruffians surround the flower girl and start harassing her, demanding payment that’s apparently overdue. One of them finally calls her by her name: “Aeris”. He grabs her, insinuating that he might sexually assault her in lieu of payment. Aeris is not strong enough to push him away. That’s when Cloud returns:
“Cloud: Get your hand off her!
Thug: What did you say!?
Cloud: Didn't you hear me? Get your dirty hand off her!
[…]
Cloud, to Aeris: Go… now.”
Aeris heeds Cloud’s advice, fleeing the scene before a fight between Cloud and the thug can break out. After Cloud scares the ruffians off with the help of Ramza and his companions, he speaks once more:
“I lost… something very important… Ever since, I’ve been lost […]. What should I do? What about this pain [?] Must go… to the Promised Land.”
III. b) ii. Fact Analysis
There’s a lot to unpack here, all of which you probably clocked in your head upon reading, but let’s put it down in writing.
While FFT Cloud’s memory is far from perfect, the Aeris he encounters in Ivalice doesn’t recognize him at all. FFVII Ultimania Omega addresses this question without answering it:
“[The flower seller’s] name is Aeris, and she has the same appearance and tone of voice as the Aeris of FFVII. However, when she comes across Cloud, she does not recognize him. Could she really be the same Aerith who appears in FFVII but with memory loss, or is she a completely different character?” (“#4 Proof of Omega”, “FFVII in Other Games”, “Final Fantasy Tactics”, page 560).
Regardless of her unknown identity and inability to recognize Cloud, FFT Aeris’ fantasy of a “knight in shining armor” is quite reminiscent of the flower girl/bodyguard dynamic we’ve come to know and love. Cloud’s armor doesn’t shine, but in my opinion, if you’re looking for the dystopian, corporatocratic equivalent of a knight, you can’t get much closer than a supposed-former-SOLDIER-turned-bodyguard. Additionally, despite his rude and cold attitude toward Ramza’s gang, the urgency with which Cloud swoops in to save the flower girl from the ruffians betrays a softer, warmer side to him: the flower girl/bodyguard dynamic strikes again!
FFT Cloud’s dialogue borrows two lines from the speech OG Cloud makes as Aerith lies dead in his arms (disk 1, chapter 28): “My fingers are tingling. My mouth is dry. My eyes are burning!” and “What are we supposed to do? What about my pain?” You might’ve noticed that this glimpse of grief Cloud experiences in FFT bears a resemblance to the fourth MOTF 4 experienced by Remake Cloud (see section “II. a)”). Could it be that FFT Cloud and Remake Cloud have something in common?
Shortly after being summoned to Ivalice, FFT Cloud declares that he must go to “that place”, a mysterious line that is later elucidated when he tells Ramza that he must go to the Promised Land and find the “very important” thing he’s lost. The Promised Land is the Cetra culture’s afterlife, meaning FFT Cloud is looking for someone who’s died, someone “very important” to him. OG suggests this is none other than Aerith:
“Cait Sith, reading Cloud’s fortune: You will find [what] you pursue. However, you will lose the most precious thing” (disk 1, chapter 16, English translation by Kotaku’s “Let’s Mosey: A Slow Translation of Final Fantasy Seven: Part Eight” by Tim Rogers, 9:42-9:52).
&
“Cloud, after seeing Aerith’s hand reach for him through the Lifestream: … I think I'm beginning to understand.
Tifa: What?
Cloud: An answer from the Planet… the Promised Land... I think I can meet her... there” (disk 3, chapter 3).
Finally, let’s try to understand where on the OG timeline Cloud was summoned to this suspension world from and what he remembers. His comment about getting stuck in a current has to be about the Lifestream; apparently, on top of its atemporal nature, it can act as a conduit to other worlds. One only enters the Lifestream if they’ve somehow fallen into the core of the planet or once they’ve passed away and returned to the planet. Both scenarios merit consideration.
On the one hand, it’s possible that Cloud was summoned to Ivalice after he and Tifa fall into the core of the planet: this point in the FFVII OG timeline occurs after Aerith’s death and shortly before Cloud finds out he was never SOLDIER, which matches the gaps in FFT Cloud’s memory quite well. However, this scenario does not account for the vagueness with which FFT Cloud remembers Aerith and her death. Most importantly, Cloud’s realization that he can find Aerith in the Promised Land occurs much later in the game (FFVII OG, disk 3, chapter 3) than when he falls into the Lifestream with Tifa (FFVII OG, disk 2, chapter 8).
On the other hand, FFT Cloud’s vague yet persistent memories of Aerith suggest that he’s been summoned to Ivalice after his eventual death post-OG, but also that he’s lost quite a large portion of his memories. His incomplete memory loss is likely the result of Cloud’s individuality’s erosion by the Lifestream after death, which we discussed in section “II. a) ii.”. We can therefore surmise that by the time he is summoned to Ivalice from the Lifestream, Cloud has been dead for long enough that the Lifestream eroded a large portion of the memories of his lifetime. This post-death scenario is likelier than the first. The memory of Cloud’s realization that he was never SOLDIER must be gone, which explains why he claims otherwise upon being summoned to Ivalice. Contrastingly, vestiges of Cloud’s OG memories of Aerith cling to his soul, even after others have been wiped clean. Could this be a consequence of their soulmate bond? Could the strength of Cloud’s love and grief for Aerith have made his memories of her stronger and more difficult for the Lifestream to erode? Could it be both?
One thing is clear: Aerith is of fundamental importance to Cloud, even when he can’t quite remember her. In fact, the only other character he remembers and/or mentions in FFT is Sephiroth. It does make sense that the memories of those who have marked one’s soul forevermore would be the most difficult for the Lifestream to erode.
III. c) Dissidia Final Fantasy
The next stop on our travels through suspension worlds is 2008’s Dissidia Final Fantasy! Now strap in, because here’s where things get really serious.
III. c) i. Fact Finding
In the suspension world of Dissidia Final Fantasy (DFF), the goddess of harmony Cosmos and the god of discord Chaos are engaged in a never-ending cycle of conflict. Both deities need warriors to fight on their behalf, so they recruit core world characters into their respective teams by summoning them to DFF. Some of these summoned characters are FFIV’s Cecil, FFVI’s Terra, FFVII’s Sephiroth, FFX’s Tidus, and of course, FFVII’s Cloud. The warriors find themselves in the suspension world of DFF with no memories of their core worlds’ plotlines. However, as the DFF adventure progresses, they are able to recover pieces of their memories here and there. It isn’t clear how much they come to remember. Ultimately, the warriors hope to return home to their core worlds by fighting in this war and seeing to its end.
Cloud is summoned to DFF as a warrior on the side of Chaos, who seeks to destroy all existence. Sephiroth is also on Chaos’ side, meaning the two are teammates despite being enemies in their core world of FFVII. It just so happens that Tifa is a summoned warrior in DFF too, though she’s fighting on Cosmos’ side. Intrigued by her vague familiarity, Sephiroth hypothesizes that killing Tifa will bring back his memories of OG’s plot line: before long, the masamune wielder finds Tifa alone and corners her into a one-on-one fight. Thankfully, Cloud swoops in and saves her before Sephiroth can do any harm. Tifa is thankful for Cloud’s help, though confused that Cloud would elect to assist her and turn against a fellow warrior of Chaos; she doesn’t remember what Sephiroth and Cloud mean to each other in OG. In fact, Tifa doesn’t even remember Cloud’s name or that they share a core world, though Cloud feels somewhat familiar to her. For his part, Cloud at least remembers that Tifa is someone he cares about from his core world. As Tifa thanks Cloud for saving her from Sephiroth, something she says elicits an odd reaction from the warrior of Chaos:
“Tifa: The way you showed up and fought that guy off. It was a pretty cool thing to watch. You were like a hero, charging in to save the girl.
Cloud gasps at her words. She doesn’t notice” (Dissidia 012: Treachery of the Gods, report 5: “Unexpected Fulfillment 2”).
On another note, Cloud knows he will have to fight Tifa once the Cosmos-Chaos conflict comes to a head, as they are on opposing teams. He thinks to himself:
“Once [her] memories return, [she]’ll lose the will to fight just like I have. So... Before that can happen, I have to act...” (Dissidia 012: Treachery of the Gods, report 5: “Unexpected Fulfillment 2”).
In order to end the cycle of the conflict and to avoid fighting Tifa, Cloud decides to try and defeat Chaos himself. Predictably, Cloud is no match for the deity. As he dies, Cloud pleads the following to the goddess Cosmos:
“Cosmos, goddess of harmony. If you can hear me, listen to my plea. I beg you. Save her. Save my friend… Tifa.”
Cosmos hears him and responds immediately:
“Cosmos: An end to this conflict, and a life spared? This is your heart's desire? If your will remains unchanged, I shall bring you here when the battle draws to a close. Cloud. My chosen" (Dissidia 0.13: Treachery of the Gods, report 7: “Unexpected Fulfillment 3”).
Cloud’s wish is granted by Cosmos: the first phase of the conflict ends without Tifa getting hurt, and she is sent away from the suspension world of DFF before the second phase begins. Cloud is saved from death, and Cosmos enlists him into her team of warriors for phase two: this time, Cloud is fighting on the good side.
Now we enter phase two of the war. Cosmos tells her team of ten core world warriors that in order to save the world from Chaos’ destruction, they must collect what she describes as crystals containing the power to persist through darkness. I call these the “DFF crystals”. There are ten DFF crystals in total: one for every warrior in Cosmos’ group to find. To obtain their crystal, each hero must overcome a trial that will confront them with whatever personal struggle they faced in their core world; if they prove themselves worthy, their DFF crystal will appear to them. On one hand, some warriors’ DFF crystals simply take the form of the crystals found in their core world. For example, Onion Knight’s DFF crystal looks to be nothing more than one of FFIII’s elemental crystals, which hold little to no personal significance to him. On the other hand, some warriors’ DFF crystals symbolize something more personal to their respective warriors. For instance, Cecil’s DFF crystal looks to be one of FFIV’s dark crystals, which specifically represent the dichotomy of light and darkness he struggles with in his core world’s plot line. Cosmos describes the quest for the DFF crystals as follows:
“Cosmos: The crystals embody the strength to face despair. With ten gathered, there is hope yet to save the world. The path to your crystal will be perilous... and different for each and every one of you. But you must believe in and follow your own path. Even if you know not where that path leads" (Dissidia 013: Light to All, prologue: “A Final Hope”).
From this exposition, simply keep in mind that: Cloud must find his crystal by overcoming a personal trial, and his crystal may have the appearance of an object in OG that’s important to him.
Once the team is debriefed on their mission, Cloud remains reticent to fight; he doesn’t much like the mysterious nature of this conflict. Not knowing exactly what they’re all fighting for is clearly bothersome to the swordsman, and the idea of thoughtlessly engaging in battles leaves a bad taste in his mouth. Fellow warrior Firion understands that without a reason to fight, Cloud’s heart just isn’t in it. He imparts upon Cloud that he must have a dream he’s fighting to protect, something he wants to see come true, to motivate him to stop Chaos from destroying all existence. Unfortunately, Cloud doesn’t have a dream to preserve, or can’t find one for himself:
“Cloud: I've looked, but I'm still empty-handed. And without a dream, what do you suppose I should do? […] Maybe what I'm looking for... isn't here” (Dissidia 0.13: Light to All, chapter 1: “Beyond Doubt”, “Gateway of Good and Evil”).
Another fellow warrior, Cecil, expresses worry for Cloud, whose response evokes the main theme of FFVII OG:
“Cecil: Everyone's worried, Cloud. But... Do you shoulder a larger concern?
Cloud: Concern... Maybe a sense of loss" (Dissidia 0.13: Light to All, chapter 1: “Beyond Doubt”, “Beyond the Continent”).
Whatever Cloud is looking for “isn’t [there]”, and he feels “a sense of loss”: Cloud’s motivating dream has been lost to him. This is later reasserted in a conversation with Terra, another warrior of Cosmos:
“Terra: And you, Cloud... What's your dream?
Cloud: I've lost mine" (Dissidia 0.13: Light to All, chapter 3: “The Chosen Battle”, “Gateway of True Intent”).
Later, Cloud encounters and fights Sephiroth, who is still a part of Chaos’ team. Sephiroth is defeated, but not before he’s taunted Cloud with his habitual puppet talk. However, Cloud remains strong and refutes Sephiroth’s manipulation, asserting that only he can determine his own path. This must’ve been Cloud’s personal trial, because his crystal appears at that very moment: it is a small, light green orb that looks like materia from his core world. Having pocketed his crystal, Cloud decides he must find his own reason to fight. Interestingly, his search is depicted as intertwined with Fate:
“Cloud: Even if I have my doubts... I have to find my own answer […] Until then, I'll keep fighting.
Narration: The warrior has vowed to keep fighting— and keep fighting he will […]. Etched in destiny, his quest for answers continues on” (Dissidia 0.13: Light to All, chapter 1: “Beyond Doubt”, “Gulg Gateway”).
Later, the nemeses meet again in a segment called “Recurring Tragedy”. Their interactions here are particularly interesting. Sephiroth speaks of making Cloud suffer through despair and pain as though referencing their history together:
"Sephiroth: This disease called hope is eating you alive. The world of suffering was born out of such half-baked ideals.
Cloud: If that's the case, I have to endure the suffering. There's no moving on if I run from it.
Sephiroth: If that is what you wish for, you shall drown in the pain. I'll lead you to true despair. [My] shadow is burned into your heart. We'll meet again, Cloud. I'll keep coming back— as long as you are who you are."
Sephiroth disappears. Cloud looks out into the distance before the scene ends.
“Cloud: No thanks. The one I really want to meet is…” (Dissidia 013: Light to All, epilogue: “Conclusion of a Cycle”, “Recurring Tragedy”).
This final line suggests Cloud has finally found a reason to fight: he wants to meet someone unspecified.
Finally, after the war has ended, we arrive at the final cutscene of DFF. I will let you read the full script, with notes added by me in bold behind the spoiler censors. Please do not read my notes if you do not wish to encounter spoilers for FFI, FFII, FFIII, FFIV, FFV, FFVI, FFVIII, FFIX or FFX:
“[The] heroes are all standing together in a grassy field with a forest behind them. Birds are chirping, the sun is shining brightly, and the wind is blowing gently. The heroes look around them in awe. They're all holding their crystals.
WoL: The battle has come to an end...
Tidus notices that his crystal has begun to emanate a blue glow.>! His crystal is a movie sphere from his core world of FFX: a capsule containing sounds and images that people record for later viewing. Tidus’ crystal likely represents the specific movie sphere recorded by his love interest Yuna, which revealed that she’d loved him from the beginning.!<
Tidus: Gotta go, huh...
The blue glow transfers to him as well. He turns to look at the others
[…] Tidus grins at the others, then turns and runs toward a nearby lake. He leaps into it in a manner reminiscent of [the events] of FFX. He vanishes as he descends toward the lake.
Zidane: We're not vanishing. We're returning—
Zidane is sitting on a tree limb as he says this. His crystal begins to glow gold, as does he. His crystal is shaped like a highly important ‘progenitor of all life’ crystal from his core world of FFIX.
Zidane: — to where we're supposed to be.
Zidane spins around the tree limb with the use of his tail and launches toward the sun. He's lost to view.
A white feather then drifts down from that direction and Squall catches it. The feather is reminiscent of his love Rinoa Heartilly, whose character symbol is a white feather. In fact, Squall’s crystal looks like a mix of his revolver gunblade from FFVIII and Rinoa’s feather motif. [Squall glows blue.]
Squall: Perhaps we can go on a mission together again.
Squall vanishes.
Cloud is then visible, standing in [a] flower field. The flowers are white and yellow. Cloud has his crystal, a light green materia from his core world of FFVII, in hand.
Cloud: [(Chuckles shortly, like a scoff)] Not interested.
Cloud walks off into the flower field, gaining a green glow. He vanishes.
A snowflake then falls into Terra's right hand as her crystal begins to glow pink. The flames drawn on her crystal represent her power, which is connected to the element of fire: her character arc in FFVI.
Terra: I think I've learned how to keep going. Thank you— and take care.
Terra glows pink and then vanishes. Bartz throws a stick. He's glowing pink as well.
Bartz: When you're having the most fun, that's when time always flies. His crystal is the Adamantite from his core world of FFV.
Bartz vanishes.
Cecil: It's mine to pass on—
A moon appears behind Cecil and goes through its phases as he begins to glow blue. His crystal has shadowed and illuminated parts, representing the duality of his character, which is central to his personal arc in his core world of FFIV. It also represents his brother Golbez, who has chosen the darkness. Cecil considers his familial bond with Golbez his guiding light and hopes to be with him someday.
Cecil: — this strength I've gained from everyone.
Cecil vanishes.
Onion Knight hugs his crystal and looks up toward the sky. His crystal is shaped like those found in his core world of FFIII**.**
Onion Knight: Everyone... thank you!
OK briefly glows blue and then vanishes.
There are wild roses at Firion's feet. He and WoL are looking toward the sky. WoL suddenly begins walking away while Firion looks down and sees the roses.
Firion: This isn't the end. Another dream is waiting to begin.
His crystal is the color of the wild roses that were at the center of his dream and of his motivation to fight Chaos. The roses are also the emblem of the Rebel Army he was a part of in his core world of FFII. His crystal is shaped like Pandaemonium, the final dungeon of his core world story. Firion gains a violet glow and then vanishes.
WoL is walking through the field and then comes to a stop. He's looking at something.
WoL: May the light forever shine upon us.”
As you can see, everyone’s crystal is very important to the story of their core world, and in the cases of at least Tidus, Squall, Terra and Cecil, the crystals represent something very personal. What about Cloud and his crystal, then? What about the dream he lost and the person he wants to meet? Let’s begin analyzing to answer these questions.
III. c) ii. Fact Analysis
Firstly, it’s clear to me that the Cloud that appears in DFF is a post-OG Cloud, given how many plot points from OG he interacts with. I’m reticent to say whether or not this post-OG Cloud is dead like in FFT, as he recovers many of his memories of OG during DFF and there is no evidence of him having passed away and joined the Lifestream.
The second thing I’d like to point out is Cloud’s strange reaction when Tifa compares him to a hero who swoops in and saves the girl from the bad guy. Cloud gasps, indicating that her words mean something to him; the trope Tifa references must therefore be included somewhere in the FFVII OG plot-line. Some of you are surely ahead of me by now, having realized that only the tragic antithesis of this trope appears in OG: Cloud is unable to save Aerith from Sephiroth (disk 1, chapter 28). Whether or not DFF Cloud remembers Aerith herself at this point, it’s clear he recalls the pain and guilt of losing Aerith to Sephiroth.
Next, let’s address Cloud’s lost dream: to meet an unspecified person. It seems Cloud is aware at this point that in OG, he was eternally separated from the person he dreams of meeting. So, who was he separated from in his core world? Who can he never meet again, even if his team of warriors defeats Chaos and Cloud returns to the realm of FFVII? There are a few options —his mother, his father, Zack, Jessie, Biggs, Wedge, and any other person he knew who died—, but the sheer narrative weight that Aerith’s untimely death carries makes it clear who he truly wants to meet. This is corroborated by Cloud’s “I think I can meet her… there” line in OG (disk 3 chapter 3), by FFT Cloud’s search for Aerith during his appearance in Ivalice, and by Cloud’s strange reaction to Tifa’s comparing him to a hero who swoops in and saves the girl from the bad guy. All the available evidence suggests that Cloud’s dream is indeed to reunite with Aerith, and that this dream is “lost” to him because she was killed by Sephiroth (disk 1, chapter 28). This would also explain the title of the DFF segment “Recurring Tragedy”, since as we all know, the ultimate tragedy of FFVII OG is Aerith’s death. Considering Sephiroth was the one to take Aerith away from Cloud, Sephiroth’s threats of drowning him in despair in “Recurring Tragedy” only solidify this interpretation of Cloud’s lost dream.
Finally, we arrive at the ending cutscene. Cosmos’ warriors return to where they belong to try and accomplish whatever dream they held as motivation during the Cosmos-Chaos conflict, each carrying their DFF crystal. Cloud is shown standing in a field of white and yellow flowers and walking deeper into it with a light green materia in hand. Why was a white and yellow flower field chosen to represent DFF Cloud’s dream? The answer is obvious. White and yellow flowers symbolize Aerith: she sold Cloud a yellow blossom upon first meeting him in OG (disk 1, chapter 1), and her yellow and white flowerbed cushioned Cloud’s fall when the two reunited in the Sector 5 church (disk 1, chapter 4). What’s more, we have the iconic credits video of the original cut of Advent Children to refer to, wherein Cloud is seen driving near flower fields. Aerith stands there (3:20), seemingly waiting for him. Here’s what Nomura had to say about this credits scene:
"[...] we filmed the video for the ending credits in Hawaii. There are fields of flowers on both sides of the road, and the colors —yellow and white— are the same as the flowers in Aerith's church […]. With Aerith, 'flowers' have been her image throughout the series” (FFVII Reunion Files, “Countdown to Reunion”, “Stories from CG Production”, page 87).
Even in the Advent Children Complete cut of the film, where Aerith is not shown standing in the field, the flowers and their symbolism of Aerith remain. That being so, it’s more than fair to say that the white and yellow flowers in DFF’s ending cutscene serve as yet another confirmation that Cloud’s dream is to be with Aerith.
With all of this established, we can address the nature of Cloud’s DFF crystal. As we established, every core world has its own version of a crystal, each possessing a distinct appearance, function and meaning. Materia are the crystals of FFVII, so one could be satisfied by the proposition that Cloud’s DFF crystal is simply meant to represent a random materia. However, I think Cloud’s crystal is specifically the White Materia, as it represents Aerith’s sacrifice, her importance to the plot and what she died fighting for. If any one object symbolizes her death, it’s the White Materia; it’s even given closeups during the event (2:33-3:02). Besides, unlike any other materia in FFVII, the White Materia is known to glow a light green when Holy has been activated:
“Bugenhagen: If [the prayer] reaches the planet, the White Materia will begin to glow a pale green” (FFVII OG, disk 2, chapter 15).
Here are pictures of the White Materia in OG and Advent Children, and two pictures of Cloud's DFF crystal (in order) so you can compare for yourself:

So far, in both suspension world games we’ve examined (FFT and DFF), Cloud is searching for Aerith. As a final note on DFF, it may interest you to know that codirector of the Remake trilogy Toriyama was actually a writer for DFF: he may have carried some themes from DFF to Remake
III. d) Detour: The Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Farewell Exposition
Before we hop onto the next suspension world, let’s return to ours for a quick detour: the 2018 Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Expo. Themed with farewells and tragedy, this expo showcased the heartbreaking goodbyes featured in different FF games. Artwork, clips, quotes and images aplenty here! As the highly anticipated Remake was going to be coming out approximately a year and a half later, the FFVII section of the expo featured a few sneak peek Remake designs. This means the expo was at least partly curated with the Remake trilogy in mind; there could be interesting material in the FFVII section of the expo related to Remake. Let’s dive in!
Unsurprisingly, the focus of the FFVII section is Cloud and Aerith, since she is the loved one he lost in OG. Zack is also given a mention, however Aerith was the glaringly central star of the show. To showcase how important Aerith’s farewell in particular was to the expo, the FFVII portion was introduced by a photo of Cloud lowering Aerith into her watery grave and a video of her tragic death:
Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Farewell Exposition, FFVII Introduction
The description under the video screen reads:
“She was gone in the blink of an eye. But the pain never went away.
Aerith awoke the ultimate magic to protect the planet and the people she loved. Yet her life came to a sudden end at the hands of Sephiroth, a man bent on seeing the world destroyed. Even the usually stoic Cloud couldn’t hide his grief at the unexpected death of an irreplaceable companion. ‘My fingers are tingling. My mouth is dry. My eyes are burning.’ True words, revealing Cloud’s deep sorrow” (Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Exposition).
Conveniently enough for us, the expo’s tagline is “Who is the person you want to meet again?” Given that Aerith holds the spotlight in the FFVII section of the expo, it’s clear who SE is telling us Cloud wants to reunite with. Recall Cloud’s unfinished line in DFF: “The one I really want to meet is..." (Dissidia 013: Light to All, epilogue: “Conclusion of a Cycle”, “Recurring Tragedy”). We theorized that he must be referring to Aerith, and now, we are certain.
The expo also had pamphlet descriptions of the farewells depicted. Here is the general summary of FFVII‘s farewell story according to that pamphlet:
“The story follows the lead character Cloud, but it is the heroine, Aerith, who opens Cloud’s eyes and helps bring him closer to understanding the mystery that is his past. Through her, we draw closer to the truth of the story.
This scene, in which the heroine Aerith is lost, is easily the most shocking and tragic in the story. No one expected to say goodbye to such a major character in the middle of the story. Rumors of a secret way to revive Aerith spread, and it was clear players were having a hard time saying goodbye to her too. Even now, twenty years later, it still feels like a shocking turn of events” (Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Exposition Pamphlet, page 36).
It’s interesting that SE would mention the rumors of Aerith’s revival circulated by players back in 1997, especially as fans were awaiting Remake’s release…
In light of everything we’ve analyzed so far, it can be said that between FFT (1997) and this farewell expo (2018), SE has consistently demonstrated that reuniting with Aerith is post-OG Cloud’s goal. That’s a period of over two decades— two decades of wishing, seeking, longing in real-world time for this character. This is a huge long-term commitment for SE to make, and you can bet the devs don’t take it lightly. Again and again, once the events of the OG game have ended, Cloud is shown to desire a reunion with Aerith. This ever-present and ever-insistent theme will become very important to us later in this analysis.

2024.05.16 05:28 donatos_box Landlord nearly killed my dogs and doesn’t care - is he right?

So this is just one of the many MANY issues I’ve had with mg landlord but this is my biggest issue.
My landlord came to do maintinence un announced with no notice. The bathtub was rusted and he came to fix it even though I put in this work request back in November when I moved in and the lease is up next month. How did he fix it? He came while I was at work today and proceeded to spray bathtub glaze which fumed up the entire apartment.
I got back home from work today 9 hours later and opened my door to a WALL of toxic fumes that immediately gave me a headache. No windows cracked. No AC going. No ventilation what so ever.
MY DOGS WERE IN THE 600 SQUARE FOOT UNIT FOR NINE HOURS WITH TOXIC FUMES!!!!
I go into my house and I see my dogs passed out and foaming at the mouth. I called poison control on the way to the emergency hospital. $3k in vet bills later and my dogs now have life long lung issues.
My landlord couldn’t care less. He’s taking no responsibility and says that in the lease and per our Ohio state laws, he is legally allowed to fix things without notice if its to keep things “up to code”
is what he did legal? Can I sue and win? I cannot afford a lawyer so can I represent myself?
Other issues to note with this landlord: -ignored plumbing issues - termite and rat infestation ignored -mold issues ignored -lied about a laundry room being available -has rented out a portion of my yard to someone go store things. Said person has direct access to my bedroom window through the AC unit. I’m a woman who lives alone and a random man has access to my window.

2024.05.16 05:10 Sparky_McDibben Security Systems

If you've never seen it, I highly recommend the TV show Leverage. A five-season long mashup of heist movies and sitcoms, it follows a group of thieves who break the law to enforce justice on everyone from corrupt cops to the US Congress. In addition to being decent television, it was also a great source of twists, stings, and a variety of genre tropes, including security systems.
Now, I don't know about y'all, but sometimes I just plumb forget to add stuff like cameras, motion sensors, etc. And I've found that working off a template reminds me to add stuff back in. So I started putting some of these together as in-world security systems.
Most of you will likely not find this helpful, but for those of you like me, it gives you a structure to start from. That, I find, makes all the difference.
Definition of Terms:
Alarms: Alarms trigger any nearby patrols to check out the source of the alarm. Patrols start at the source of the alarm, then quarter and search the nearby rooms, moving in pairs when possible. If nothing is found, the alarm is shut down, but guards linger nearby for the next 30 minutes.
Patrols: 1d3 bodyguards (per Core Rules); 1-in-3 chance they have mini air drones available to sweep the area
Security Hub: Location from which all security measures can be monitored, and the security comm net controlled. Typically watched by a dweller (netrunner-in-residence), with stats as netrunner (per Core Rules).
Tier [X]: Security is set up in tiers. Tier 1 areas are available to anyone who's supposed to be in the building. Tier 2 areas are a bit more restrictive (an armory within a police station, for example, or a judge's chambers). Tier 3 areas are for very restrictive secured areas, like a SCIF.
Glenn-Rieder Security System:
A must for those with moderate security concerns, such as museums, banks, etc., the Glenn-Rieder will stop all but the most determined crew of thieves.
Cameras: 1d6 + 1 per floor, Stealth DV 14 to evade notice, 2-in-6 chance camera is being actively monitored.
Motion Sensors: 1d3 per floor, Contortionist DV 13 to evade notice, automatically triggers silent alarm.
Locks:
Guards: There are 1d6-1 active patrols at any given time, with another patrol standing by in a nearby break room, and a netrunner (dweller) camped at the security hub. Guards usually patrol a set beat, but will actively and aggressively track any suspected intruders.
Windows: All windows secured with standard locks (DV 9 Pick Lock) and laser tripwires (DV 13 Electronics / Security Tech check)
Exotic Countermeasures:
Roll 1d6 for each of the following countermeasures. On a roll of 1, that countermeasure is in place.

Starting Title(s): Blacksmith of Runestone

Biography:
Lady Royce would give birth on a particularly wretched night some thirty-four years ago. The babe, said to be something of a scientific marvel, felt equal in weight to a chainmail coif when picked up(About 14 pounds, maybe more). He was aptly named Godric. The wetnurses practically refused to move him far when nursing him for fear of fatigue and soreness from the hefty baby. Lord Royce however, was recounted as being incredibly proud of the boy's size and natural strength. He thought it to be evidence that the Bronze kings of legend may yet return to Westeros. Starting with the largest boy in their house's history. When he reached the age of 7 and could begin swinging a sword in the yard, he quickly injured his younger sparring partners and was soon moved to the men-at-arms for fear of manslaughter. The boy continued to grow at an alarming pace. When he reached the age of 10, he was sent to be a squire for a local knight. Already the boy stood at around 5'6. He learned many things, taking care of arms and armor, swinging a sword.
He eventually was knighted at the age of 18. He now towered above any man he had ever met. At a ridiculous height of 7’4, it was hard to distinguish him from the mountains around them. Not only was he tall, but broad and rippled with muscle. He earned the nickname the Bronze Bull from his choice of armor and temper. He was a hulking brute, one that held no shame in ducking to get through doorways. When he rode in local tourneys, his competitors would bow out to avoid a caved-in chest plate. Left with little to no challenge at home, he rode throughout the Vale on many adventures. Godric cared little for petty politics, though he did support House Arryn in their endeavors. He would go on to assist in the fight against the mountain clans. Earning many accolades from his fellow knights.
After the passing of his father, Godric now finds himself running Runestone. A position that he wished to never be in. He now balances the responsibilities of his lordship and his desire for something more. Though he is honor bound as a knight, he often lets his anger take hold of him. A temperament that is sure to land him in trouble as he navigates the difficult atmosphere in Westeros.
Timeline:
9 BC - Godric is born, a massive brute. Much to his father’s joy and his mother’s dismay.
2 BC - Godric continues to get larger and larger. Many of the boys at Runestone refuse to spar with him due to his strength. He is forced to duel man-at-arms instead.
1 AC - Godric begins to squire for a local knight. It is here that he learns how to fight with a blade and the codes of a knight.
9 AC. - Godric is knighted and sets out on many adventures. Earning fame and glory on the road.
23 AC - Godric’s father passes suddenly, forcing the giant to return home. He finds that ruling does not suit him, and takes every chance he can to leave home. Leaving his brother to pick up the pieces.
25 AC - Present day. Godric approaches the tumultuous situation in the Kingdoms with hesitation and an open mind. He knows little of what is to come.

Arnold Royce - Builder
Jeyne Royce - Scholar

I figured out who created SARS-COV-2
Nathan Wolfe (Rothschild-Epstein-Maxwell asset) of DARPA/EcoHealth/Gates Foundation ran the COVID-19 creation operation with Peter Daszak of EcoHealth via the Global Virome Project (Wuhan Lab). Nathan Wolfe dedicated his book "Viral Storm" to Israeli spy Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Gates and is BFF with Israeli spy Ghislaine Maxwell.

On the 12th Sep 2019, the main database of samples and viral sequences of the Wuhan Institute of Virology went offline. Eventually every single of the 16 virus databases managed by the WIV was taken offline.
https://archive.is/i79eW
Here's former CDC director Robert Redfield under oath before the Congress on Wuhan Lab September 2019 events:
https://www.youtube.com/live/aXXWRaM-sWQ?feature=share
I will say if you go back and look, it's declassified now, and I'm sure you all have your classified briefings, but the declassified information now:
In September of 2019, three things happened in that lab, one is they deleted the sequences, that was highly irregular, researchers don't usually like to do that
Second thing they did was they changed the command and control of the lab from the civilian control to the military control. Highly unusual, and I've been involved in dual use labs when I was in the military.
And the third thing they did which I think is really telling is they let a contractor redo the ventilation system in that laboratory. So I think clearly there was strong evidence that there was a significant event that happened in that laboratory in September. It's now been declassified, you can read it. I'm sure there's more classified information around it.
Scientist Richard Ebright
The relevance of this is that SARS Cov-2, the pandemic virus, is the only virus in its entire genus of SARS-related coronaviruses that contains a fully functional cleavage site at the S1, S2 junction. And here is a proposal from the beginning of 2018 [from Fauci/Gates-funded EcoHealth Alliance] proposing explicitly to engineer that sequence at that position in chimeric lab- generated coronaviruses.
Eminent Virologist David Baltimore of CalTech
When I first saw the furin cleavage site in the viral sequence, with its arginine codons, I said to my wife it was the smoking gun for the origin of the virus. These features make a powerful challenge to the idea of a natural origin for SARS2.
Former CDC Director Robert Redfield:
I was concerned because of the presence of the furin cleavage site that we've talked about and I think it's important to understand what that cleavage site does. That cleavage site totally changes the orientation of the binding domain of COVID, so where before it could not see the ACE2 receptor which is the human receptor, it totally changes the orientation now so it has high affinity for human receptors. So that furin cleavage site bothered me, it didn't seem like it belonged there.
And then if you look at the sequences they use in those 12 nucleotides for arginine, where the arginine sequence nucleotide triplet were coded for humans. So why did it have the arginine coding for humans and not bat? It was very disconcerting to me. It looked like this virus was engineered.
It's not scientifically plausible that this virus went from a bat to humans and became one of the most infectious viruses that we have for humans.
Scientist Valentin Bruttel:
I tried to raise awareness to this for a year now. WIV use BsaI and BsmBI/Esp3I sites before to make synthetic WIV1 variants. And exactly those sites appear in a "silently introduced, perfect for synthetic assembly" pattern in SARS2, but non of its nat. relatives.
seriously, what is the chance that exactly those type IIs restriction appear or disappear through random evolution in a Banal-20-52 like virus? 5-6 precise mutations in 30000bp? about 1 in 1020! SARS2 is clearly synthetic!
Type Ils restriction sites prove a synthetic origin
Synthetic RNA viruses are assembled at the DNA level and later transcribed. 30,000 nucleotides cannot be synthesized in one go. These viruses are therefore assembled from smaller, 2- 8,000 nucleotide long pieces. Specific DNA restriction sites are often added to later reassemble the individual building blocks in the correct order. It is also technically possible to hide these interfaces (No See'em), but this was not done in the WIV.
In a 2017 paper, two very specific, particularly suitable type Ils restriction enzymes were used at the WIV. These have the advantage that they can produce different DNA overhangs (sticky ends), which are crucial for a correct assembly of the complete genome: Bsal and BsmBI.
SARS2 shows a Bsal and BsmBI restriction site pattern which is ideal for assembling synthetic viruses and to later replace the spike protein or furin cleavage site.
Bsal and BsmBI restriction sites also exist in closely related viruses (Banal20-52, RaTG13), but these are distributed in such a way that an artificial virus could never be generated using the methods established at WIV 2018/19.
The probability that the required 5 synonymous mutations, which enable a synthetic assembly of SARS2, arose purely by chance is less than 1 in 1020 or about as likely as winning the lottery jackpot 3 times in a row.

2024.05.16 04:46 midnightcoding5 What happens if a medical coder makes a mistake?

This was a question that I have come across a few times recently. Basically new coders (or people thinking of becoming a coder) are wondering-What happens if I make a mistake? Will I be get fired? Be in trouble? I could see why this would be a concern. Medical coders are held to a very high standard both by ourselves and the industry.
But let's think about this--what happens if a coder makes a mistake? Let's start by saying--no one is perfect. Every single person who is working now as a coder, has made mistakes at one point or another.
The thing that most companies look for is your average accuracy rate. I don't have an exact number of what all places are, but in my experience (which is radiology coding) a coder had to always have a 95% or above accuracy rate. Different places audited coders at different times. Sometimes it was monthly. Sometimes it's daily. It really depends how the company is set up. Another thing to keep in mind too--was it a CPT or ICD-10-CM mistake? Usually a CPT error is counted differently against a coder than an ICD-10-CM error. In other words--it's worse to make a CPT mistake than a ICD-10-CM mistake because there is a more likely chance the claim will be denied because of this. So what happens to the coder? It depends how often you're making mistakes. Everyone makes a mistake once in a while. So if this is a rare occurrence for you--in short--nothing happens. Maybe your manager will let you know about it, but that is it. I think what's important here is how you handle it. I think medical coders by nature are perfectionists. So if we hear we make a mistake...we don't like that and may get defensive about it.
If you're told you made a mistake and truly don't think it was a mistake, you can bring proof (an authoritative source) to your manager and talk about it. Just be careful here--all places are set up differently and managers are different. Sometimes it might be best not to say anything. But if it's really bothering you--yes, it's ok to say something. Sometimes auditors make mistakes too and I'm telling you this as an auditor--there have been times that I marked something as incorrect when it really wasn't. Does that happen often? No. But it has occasionally. I don't mind when coders tell me to recheck something. I've had coders come to me an explain their thought process and use sources. If I can see their point of view--there has absolutely been times when the coder proved me wrong. I don't think that makes me a bad auditor--all it means is that I'm human too. So in short--everyone in the industry will make mistakes sometimes.
If you're wondering what happens to the actual claim that was coded wrong--usually a corrected claim will be sent in if it denied because of the error. In my experience the person who originally coded the report is not the same person who does the corrected claim--but it may work different elsewhere.
My whole point in writing this really, is don't let being afraid of making mistakes stop you from pursuing medical coding! It is an awesome field to be in.

2024.05.16 04:36 Burntmuffinz Upgrading pc (budget ~ $1200) Need new MOBO setup

Questions
Is this a brand new build, or an upgrade to an existing build?
Please list any existing parts or monitor(s) you have that you would like to re-use with this build. For upgrades, a PCPartPicker list of your full build is extremely helpful. Be as specific as you can be here, including links or exact model numbers of each component whenever possible.
What will this PC be used for? Examples include things like gaming, general/multimedia use, photo/video editing, coding, AI/ML, etc. Include specific games and applications you intend to run, and any particular performance goals you have, as each may have different specific hardware needs.
What country will you be purchasing in? If you are in the US, do you live near a Micro Center? For other countries, please check if your country is supported by PCPartPicker by using the country selector dropdown on the top right - if not, please provide some links to reliable local vendors you are comfortable ordering from.
Do you need one or more monitors included in the budget? Please list how many and any size/resolution/refresh rate preferences if needed.
What is your preferred and maximum budget range for this build, in local currency? Parts lists may sometimes have additional shipping costs. Please note whether prices in your country include sales tax or not, and adjust your budget accordingly. Typically VAT countries will have it included in the part list prices, whereas regular sales tax countries like the US and Canada will not.
Do you need WiFi, or do you have a wired ethernet connection available?
Do you have any specific size or noise requirements for the build?
Do you have any aesthetic preferences for color or lighting? Describe what you're looking for, or feel free to provide some links to examples that may help. Some people prefer an inobtrusive stealth build, while others may prefer a case full of rainbow RGB.
Any other specific requests or requirements? Examples might include a specific minimum amount of storage, or a particular CPU socket for a future upgrade path, etc.
Prefer Nvidia, but would try AMD. Will upgrade GPUs in the future for GTA 6 if needed. Need another 2tb of m.2 storage. Can i reuse the PSU or should i replace it? (+~7 years old).

2024.05.16 03:37 sac_112 Debunking a few popular theories.

Debunking a few popular theories.
Starting to debunk 🔥

FNaF 6

FNaF 6 is mostly assumed by people to take place in 2023 because of HRY223, saying it means Henry 2023, the thing is, they ignore the most important detail of that text.
HRY223 is actually not written that way, is "HRY223...", what's the difference?
In the first option that most people use to argue FNaF 6 2023, the text is complete, saying 2023 as a last part of the text.
In the true and second option, the text is incomplete, it's not showing it all, Scott knew that people said that FNaF 3 took place in 2023 when it wasn't the case, so, he wanted to do a little trolling putting "HRY223..." It does say Henry (date), but the date is incomplete, so it's more of:
HRY 2/23/???? or Henry Febrary 23rd of ????, since the last part is missing.
So, if the date is not 2023, then when is it?
Using Fazbear Frights as a part of games timeline, we have an answer, since, and as I have stated before:
In Fetch, Greg describes the Location of Freddy's as the same as the FNaF 1 Location (MCI Location), which we know, was turned Into Jeffs Pizza in ITP.
So Fetch is before 2020. (Since ITP happens in 2020)
Taking in mind this and how TMIR1280 happens around 2 to 3 years after FFPS and how Fetch is before 2020, then:
As Fetch is, at latest, in December 2019 / January 2020, then, TMIR1280 happens in 2019 or 2018, so FFPS happens in 2017 or 2016 (2 to 3 years before TMIR1280)
So, with this in mind, FNaF 6 happens in 2016 or 2017.
But some people argue that FNaF 3 happens in 2023, how do I explain that?
FNaF 3 doesn't happen in 2023, happens in 2015.

FNaF 3

First of all, the steam description.
Thirty years after Freddy Fazbear's Pizza closed it's doors, the events that took place there have become nothing more than a rumor and a childhood memory, but the owners of "Fazbear's Fright: The Horror Attraction" are determined to revive the legend and make the experience as authentic as possible for patrons, going to great lengths to find anything that might have survived decades of neglect and ruin.
So, it mentions that it's 30 years after Freddy Fazbear's Pizza closed it's doors, which of the 3? Well, we can get to an easy answer with this.
the events that took place there have become nothing more than a rumor and a childhood memory
So, the location was actually opened for quite a long time (discarding the location of the 87), the FNaF 1 location is the same as the location of the MCI, so it could be rather 2015 or 2022/2023 (later explaining).
So, which of both is it? Well, the text directly stated right after it explains it.
but the owners of "Fazbear's Fright: The Horror Attraction" are determined to revive the legend and make the experience as authentic as possible for patrons, going to great lengths to find anything that might have survived decades of neglect and ruin.
What does this tell us?
Well, reading the whole text, is clear that it's talking about 30 years after the location where the rumors and years of neglect and ruin started closed.
The FNaF 1 location didn't started the rumors and years of neglect and ruin.
It was the Missing Children Incident location!
Now, let's talk about the source code.
"five, nights, at, freddys, 30 years later, only one"
What does this actually mean?
let me begin separating the text, because it's not "five nights at freddy's 30 years later only one" it has punctuation marks, so, what do they mean? To me, they look more as a title.
Five
Nights
at
Freddy's
30 years later
Only one
Let me begin clarifying the text.
As it is a title, there's the name of the franchise, then the title of the game == (Title) (Name)
So, the important thing here is the fact that it's named "30 years later, only one" what could this mean?
I interpret it more like- "After 30 years, there's only one" only one what? Only one animatronic as the description of the game says.
At first there were only empty shells, a hand, a hook, an old paper-plate doll, but then a remarkable discovery was made...
The attraction now has one animatronic.
So, it's talking about that 30 after something, there's now one animatronic in Fazbear Frights.
This doesn't reveal anything.

The Real Value and the Logbook

I don't think this needs an explination, but here it comes. (reused text from an old post)
In the page 79 there is a cupon named "Pizza Party Pack" which costs 16 dollars, and Michael writted there "for real value, see page 61", if you remember right, the page 61 is where we get the "I" in the "my name" code, but for now, let's ignore that, because doing the same math, "5+4 = 9" and multiplaying it with 3 we get 27, so the real value is 27, right? yes, but that's kinda weard, because if we use an inflation calculator (or just do the math by ourselfs) we get that in 2023 it would cost 33.74 dollars, but that's logical, Scott made this book in 2017, the real value needs to be updated to the "present" day, Scott isn't a magician, he can't know how will go the inflation in 2023 being on 2017, and doing the math with 2017 insetead of 2023 we get almost the exact number, but it can't be right, like i said in another post the only dates where FNaF 3 can take place are 2015 and 2023, and like we see right here, it can't be in 2023, but wait, we are doing this taking in mind that FNaF 1 takes place in 1993, if we say that FNaF 1 takes place in 1992 then in 2015 is 27.00$.
Also in the book there are several references to things that only appeared in 2015 the MacBook Silver, the dabbing (but used as a meme) and more, so, even with this conclusion, the only possible way to this to work is if FNaF 3 takes place in 2015…
But I've seen people against the real value, and let me explain why they are wrong!
Let me point out 2 main posts.
Let me debunk this properly.
Starting with...
Meta Logbook.
The fact that the logbook mentions the Springlocks doesn't even prove anything!
It just places it after Night 2 of FNaF 3.
The Phone Calls from FNaF 2 are never mentioned or even something at all on the Logbook, they know what happened in that local because of the rummors!
They knew about the Phone Calls from FNaF 1 because they were in that restaurant! and uh, Phone Guy kinda possessed the phone, if not, we wouldn't be literally getting PHONE CALLS on FNaF 1, since they are recordings, why ring the phone? That's because it's possessed by Phone Guy.
They could've just recorded those Phone Calls to make the logbook AFTER night 2.
Now, let's talk about th epost of Fantasctic-Bed3911.
FNaF 2 is NOT in summer, if we're gonna use the summer-job thing as confirmation, then FnaF 1 is in summer as the description of FNaF 1 states:
Welcome to your new summer job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, where kids and parents alike come for entertainment and food as far as the eye can see! The main attraction is Freddy Fazbear, of course; and his two friends. They are animatronic robots, programmed to please the crowds! The robots' behavior has become somewhat unpredictable at night however, and it was much cheaper to hire you as a security guard than to find a repairman.
So it's more of a legal thing or a way to say "short-time job".
So, FNaF 1 is indeed in 1992, and since the Logbook has multiple references of it being at the same time as FNaF 3 (since we literally see the office and for stuff mentioned before), the real value is showing us that FNaF 3 is in 2015.
Confirming 2 things.
  • FNaF 1 being in 1992
  • FNaF 3 being in 2015

FNaF 1

As I explained 2 months ago.
FNaF 1 is in 1992, why..
MHMM (this is bassically the same text as the one of my old post)
We spent 6 hours a night in Freddy’s for 5 nights (30 hours) and we get paid 120$ a WEEK, so it’s 4$ a hour (less than the minimum wage of USA, 7.25$ per hour), when is the only year that 4 dollars an hour is legal (in USA)? In 1990 the minimum wage was 3.80$, in 1991 it was raised to 4.25, so it can’t be in 1991, but from there to 1996 the minimum wage was raised to 5 bucks, so it’s in 1990, right? NO! There’s something else.
So, in the camera 04b we see the MCI newspapers, which if you see them correctly and compare them with the newspapers that we see on the beginning of the game and REAL newspapers we know that these aren’t actually newspapers from the 80s, they don’t actually seem to be actual newspapers at all, they seem more like an article from a web page, like- a transcription of the news to digital, so, they were researched in the internet, or something similar.
We know that this is the current pizzeria since is stated to be after the MCI or “after the tragedy that took place there many years ago” which implies that this is also the same restaurant of where the MCI happened, so this makes me think that this is the memory of Mike, these are actual things that Mike researched on internet to know more about his job maybe?
Remember that Mike used a computer to search that, he used the internet, according to Wikipedia and this Quora question, the internet was opened to the public in 1991, so FNaF 1 cannot be in 1990. But that would bring a lot of problems, for example, in 1992 the minimum wage was of 4.55$, so it can’t be there, or at any point after 1991… UNLESS, Following what the U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR says, if a person is under the age of 20 it can have the minimum wage but only 85%, but this expired in 1993, so, FNaF 1 is at any point from 1991 to 1993 and Mike is at maximum 20 years old.
It can be at any point in between those 3 years, so we don’t have a definitive answer for now… Or until FNaF 2…
Mhmmm
So, FNaF 2 is directly a prequel of FNaF 1, since 2 takes place in 1987 and 1 is in 1991-1993. So, with the information that this game adds to the timeline, how can this help with FNaF 1?
Yeah i know what you might be thinking, “but how can this help?!?!”, pretty easy actually. FNaF 2 takes place in November of 1987, more specifically, 8th to 14th of November, November 8th is a SUNDAY. This shows us that the laboral week of Fazbear Entertainment is from Sunday to Thursday, but Jeremy and Fritz spent until Saturday.
So, FNaF 1 is in 1992. Finally, with this out of the way, i need to explain why does this can keep working on current timeline-
I know that there's still people saying that more recent information make clear that FNaF 1 is in 1993, but to that let me tell you something...
No it doesn't. like we can see thanks to TechnicalFNaF that in FNaF AR the "Faz-Facts" are NOT canon,, since the Illumix employee stated how they were written by Illumix and not Scott, and shouldn't be used for lore at all.
https://preview.redd.it/c5nf3sajzo0d1.png?width=600&format=png&auto=webp&s=e11a57aed31d1a071466fab3f8ed3bf140cdbb05
With that out of the way, let me talk about one of the MOST missinterpreted and missinformed fact of the franchise, in the FNaF Cook book, there's NO mention of 1993, Not in any page of the book, that's missinformation.
With that out of the way, let me tell you one of the most ignored pieces of information of the MOST LORE RELEVANT BOOK of this franchise...
Before going to it,, let me clarify something the Survival Logbook is indeed in FNaF 3, not in the nights, but AFTER the nights happen, how?
First of all, the Survival Logbook makes clear that it takes place on the week that Mike was there (also confirming that Mike was the Frightguard), we know this since the Logbooks night 2 to 5 title pages are in the FNaF 3 office, htat's obvious since we see how everything lines up perfectly, and the fact that we see foxy there makes clear too that Mike is Foxybully, so, upon that, the Logbook takes place in FNaF 3, but how?
The Logbook is directly a log to all the stuff that happened during your shift, bassicly it's literally a in-between nights thing, so it makes sense that Mike would have it and fill it with stuff in between the nights of FNaF 3...
Now...
Also in the book there are several references to things that only appeared in 2015 the MacBook Silver, the dabbing (but used as a meme) and more, so, even with this conclusion, the only possible way to this to work is if FNaF 3 takes place in 2015…
So, the definitive answer is that FNaF 1 takes place in 1992, Mike is 20 years old when the game takes place at maximum and FNaF 3 takes place in 2015.
End of the debunks

2024.05.16 03:17 ZnojaviTestis 1500eur budget 1440p PC

  1. Is this a brand new build, or an upgrade to an existing build?
A new build
  1. Please list any existing parts or monitor(s) you have that you would like to re-use with this build. For upgrades, a PCPartPicker list of your full build is extremely helpful. Be as specific as you can be here, including links or exact model numbers of each component whenever possible.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KNL3DZ, won't let me add my white white shark shinobi and rampage headset, not listed here
  1. What will this PC be used for? Examples include things like gaming, general/multimedia use, photo/video editing, coding, AI/ML, etc. Include specific games and applications you intend to run, and any particular performance goals you have, as each may have different specific hardware needs.
The PC is 80% for gaming, 10% for watching movies/listening to music with a sprinkle of 4k editing and programming in HTML/CSS/JS
Competitive games: World Of Tanks (primarily), CS 2, Apex
Single-player - RDR2, GTA V/IV, Fallout games, Civilization V
PS3 1440p emulation in RPCS3
  1. What country will you be purchasing in? If you are in the US, do you live near a Micro Center? For other countries, please check if your country is supported by PCPartPicker by using the country selector dropdown on the top right - if not, please provide some links to reliable local vendors you are comfortable ordering from.
Serbia, I would use only kupujemprodajem.com
  1. Do you need one or more monitors included in the budget? Please list how many and any size/resolution/refresh rate preferences if needed.
I have a separate budget and know what I'll buy regarding a monitor. It'll be 240hz 1440p IPS, no model decided yet
1500 EUR total (I have a separate budget for shipping, taxes etc.)
  1. Do you need WiFi, or do you have a wired ethernet connection available?
I do need wifi.
  1. Do you have any specific size or noise requirements for the build?
I don't like that the PC gets extremely loud but I'm tolerant. Any case size works.
  1. Do you have any aesthetic preferences for color or lighting? Describe what you're looking for, or feel free to provide some links to examples that may help. Some people prefer an inobtrusive stealth build, while others may prefer a case full of rainbow RGB.
Don't like RGB too much but if RGB fans get bundled with the case I don't mind. White color preferred but not 100% necessary.
  1. Any other specific requests or requirements? Examples might include a specific minimum amount of storage, or a particular CPU socket for a future upgrade path, etc.
32gig ddr5 at least, possibly 7800x3d due to low wattage and high competitive games performance, prefer AMD over intel, prefer Nvidia over AMD

2024.05.16 03:00 Far-Mode6546 What's inside Alice Guo's POGO compound?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnoleQ7zlzA&t=806s
I don't have all day to subbed the whole thing so I'm just gonna sum up what was being said here.
The Baofu compound is located very near the Bamban municipal office.
Locals thought it was a mall exclusive to Chinese people.
12 of the storage vaults P5.5 m in total of different currencies.
2 of the vaults contain P1.4m, cellphones, SIM cards,
There was a document for a blacklist lift order for a certain Chinese national.
A total of 27 vaults.
The Pogo compound has 36 buildings surrounding it.
Includes 9 villas, some are barracks and torture chambers
The POGO facility is colored coded almost looks like a Wumao center.
Found multiple Ids.
They also handcuffs,
The Malaysian and Vietnamese were handcuffed and tortured.
The whole thing could literally be mini command center right beside an airbase if you asked me.

2024.05.16 02:53 0mni-wolf CDDA Tool coding.

I've been working on a mod called "The Matter Manipulator," inspired by Starbound and Subnautica. It's designed to be a small necklace powered by singularity-class technology.
The purpose is simple: to invalidate all tools in the game. Once acquired, the player would never need another tool, workstation, cook-station, etc.
However, I've been having some problems implementing it. Everything reliant on qualities seemed straightforward, and the items under the use_action category were easy enough.
But then came the cooking and welding recipes. I couldn't get many recipes that required the oxy torch or a cooking facility to work. From my research, I know you can inject your item ID into the JSON/requirements section of the code, which makes it show up as an option in the recipe list. However, this makes the matter manipulator require charges, which detracts from what I'm going for.
Any help or guidance in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Here's the code I have so far: ———————

2024.05.16 02:44 chickenn5951 [SF] All or Nothing

this was inspired by the movie Gravity I would recommend watching it
All or Nothing
I woke to the sound of alarms blaring, I opened my eyes to see nothing just empty black i began to panic but then the planet below came into view, and I was relieved but the realization of my situation began to creep into my mind, I was alone… truly alone. I tried the radio but I knew it wouldn't work I was too far away from anything. Cursing my situation in rage I began to panic once again after about 20 minutes I calmed down. I had a problem (a very big problem) but this is what I was trained for, first things first… stop my rotation and figure out where I am and how long I can survive like this.
I am stable and not spinning anymore and I can survive for another 3 hours like this, but I still have no idea what my orbit is on the upside my last recorded relative speed is high enough that I'm in orbit and not going to be burnt to a crisp. I need to conserve oxygen so I lower the o2% but I begin to feel lightheaded so I turn it back up. It wouldn't be good to make decisions like that. “I need to find a station or an eleva—” Something caught my eye i rotated myself to see what it was i gasped at my luck, it was an old satellite. I used a little bit of my dwindling supply of fuel to get to it (if I could figure out what satellite it was then I could find out where I am). I slowly grabbed onto the satellite I saw a plate with the words “Mars Global Surveyor” I immediately connected my straps to the handles and pulled out my holo map that shows all objects in a close orbit to our craft and found it. I let out a sigh of relief because I am heading in the direction of an elevator, only one problem, I'm moving too slow by the time I get close enough to get to the elevator I would be long dead.
10 minutes passed and I'm still trying to think of a way to get enough velocity to not die of oxygen deprivation. I began to yell my heart rate began to elevate i let go of the handles and punched the satellite sending myself in the opposite direction, when it hit me, use the satellite as a counterweight to launch myself, i could maybe gain an extra 10m/s of velocity and I could also set myself up with a better orbit for a closer pass with the elevator. Anyway, I'm out of time… it's all or nothing
I detached my straps and got rid of my now-empty main oxygen tank all I have now is my emergency tank with only 2 hours of oxygen. I'm ditching all the weight I can so I can get more velocity. I put my feet against the hull of the satellite and with my hands still holding on in 5 seconds I'll jump like my life depends on it. My heads-up display showed a countdown. 5, 4, 3, the seconds felt like minutes 2, 1 I jumped, and as I left the Surveyor behind. I used my maneuvering thrusters to orient and adjust my orbit for an intercept.
Once again I'm floating through space. I got a little bit more speed than expected at 10.8m/s. I begin to lower my o2 to conserve oxygen giving me the largest possible margin for error. As time passed, each minute felt lonelier than the last. I checked and rechecked my oxygen levels, trying to eke out every last breath. The loneliness gnawed at me, a relentless companion in this vast emptiness. I thought of everyone I got separated from, wondering if they even knew I was out here, still alive. As reality set in my hope diminished faster than my oxygen and I began to question the point of all of this. But even as despair threatened to drown me that voice of determination and resilience continued to echo throughout my mind and that's all I needed to know that there is still a way, even if it's a 1 in a billion chance that I survive I'm starting to like my odds.
In the distance, I could see the 5 cables that connect the ground and space i started my minuscule preparations consisting of grabbing the straps that I saved connecting them to my suit, and starting an ETA timer. As the clock ticked down time began to slow. I was still too far from the cables to make contact and I needed my fule to slow down, but I planned for this and I still had the straps that I had when I connected to the Surveyor right before I passed the first cable I braked as much speed as possible using the last of my fule and threw one of the straps around one of the cables and caught the other end that swung around the cable. My heart began to settle but then the strap snapped, unable to control my movement I drifted into another cable and grabbed ahold i used my second strap to connect myself. But, the struggle wasn't over I began to slowly let myself slip down the cable, and after 500 meters of sliding I reached a maintenance catwalk where there was an emergency alert button. I sat down after hitting the button and As my heart rate began to settle I finally noticed the blaring alarm that indicated my oxygen was almost completely gone and I passed out.
When I came to, I was lying on the cold metal catwalk. The alarms had stopped, replaced by a distant sound of machinery reverberating throughout the cables. My head throbbed. With a groan, I pushed myself up and fell, struggling against the weight of exhaustion.
The emergency alert button I'd pressed blinked nearby letting me know it worked. feeling a sense of relief wash over me. Help was on the way, I hoped. As I waited, my mind raced with thoughts. How long had I been out? Minutes? Hours? My oxygen was almost depleted when I passed out; I could only pray it hadn't run out completely.
Footsteps approached, breaking the silence.
A voice reverberated through the ground distant yet reassuring. "We've got a signal, someone's out here!"
Relief flooded through me. I'd been found. I managed to sit up, weakly waving my arms to signal my location. Soon, they arrived, faces covered by helmets, but their urgency was all I needed to know. They rushed to my side, checking my vital signs and oxygen levels. I was hoisted onto a stretcher, surrounded by flashing lights and the sound of people's voices.
"Stabilize him and get him back to the station," one of the rescuers ordered.
The journey back was a blur of motion and noise. I drifted in and out of consciousness, the weight of my ordeal finally catching up with me. When I woke again, I was in a sterile white room, surrounded by monitors and medical equipment. A doctor stood nearby, monitoring my condition.
"You gave us quite a scare," the doctor said with a smile. "But you're going to be alright."
Relief flooded through me again.
"Where... am I?" I managed to ask, my voice hoarse.
"You're aboard Anchor 9 a orbital platform," the doctor replied. "We picked you up just in time. You're lucky to be alive."
I nodded, the reality of what had happened sinking in. I had faced the vast emptiness of space and survived. As I lay there, surrounded by the beeping of monitors, I knew one thing for certain: I was not alone. Even in the darkest reaches of space, there were others who would come to your aid, a reminder that no matter how dire the situation, there was always hope.
