So, I have a PS2 since 2005 and I think its hard-modded since i used to buy games from a guy who burned them on DVDs. I thought I'd take a crack at it, so i just assumed you download the ISO from any ROM sites, burn it onto a DVD and it should run but I'm obviously here cause it didn't work. Any idea why / or any steps that I'm missing ? I checked the files of a game on a DVD that works and it consists of various .xff files do they have something to do with it ? Thank you for any input :)

Very much a thought experiment as don't have anywhere near the disposable income needed lol but wondering if it's possible to store the entire rom/iso sets for every retro console (up to 7th gen?) in a playable form without any externally obvious hardware changes
So flashcarts are fine because they use cartridge slots as intended but no optical disk emulators that remove the original drive or usb hard drives sticking out the back. The idea of being able to take them back in time to when the console was released and the average player wouldn't notice until they boot it up and see a list of every game is pretty cool, like if your friend's uncle actually did work at Nintendo this is the magic console they'd bring back from work
It seems the cartridge based systems are pretty straight forward, everdrives exist for all the popular ones and support SD cards which can easily store more than enough, i.e NES ~1.5GB, ~SNES 4GB, N64 ~16GB, although file system and folder limits might complicate things a bit?
Optical media is where storage sizes start to get too big for the 2TB max size for current SD cards, Dreamcast is <1TB but OG Xbox is >16TB so you'd have to swap to HDDs/SSDs, most of Sony's and Microsoft's had support for HDDs and there's tons of complications with ide/sata support and bios limitations but feel like you could mod your way around them?
The Wii seems bit more difficult as it's >6TB so too big for SD cards and not much space internally but especially if you removed the case for a 8TB 2.5 SSD you should be able to, possibly with some hardware mods but going by the amount of DIY portables that's definitely an option
Kind of pointless to include releases for every region and revision but guess you could argue there's plenty of games no one will bother playing so the whole thing is just for bragging rights. I just really like the idea from a preservation point of view of having like a museum where you can interact with the consoles the same way as when they were released but also play every game?

To preface this, I already own the SilverStone CS380 and the SilverStone DS380 cases. I'm also quite new to home servers and NAS in general, and I do hope that the server is able to be used for as long as possible. While I understand that this isn't a solution for a backup and all that, I should mention that I plan on two separate NAS devices, with one of the two being used as my primary NAS, like for the more important stuff.
I have also heard of the heating issues with both cases, although I only saw that the SilverStone CS380 was mentioned a few times (I haven't noticed any mention of the legitimacy and/or how to fix it) and quite a lot with the SilverStone DS380 and several different approaches to resolve it. Another issue the SilverStone DS380 has is the lack of space for the use of 1 of the 8 hard drives if there's a card in the PCIe slot. While I have bought a Cooling Fan Duct for Silverstone DS380 Case, I have yet to decide between the two cases. I have noticed that the SilverStone CS380 has the benefit of using a bigger motherboard that has more PCIe slots and SATA ports, which I would like to have and use, all while avoiding the need to sacrifice either the use of hard drive slot or PCIe card / the need for getting 2 little pieces of hardware that goes in the M.2 port for several SATA ports, just to have both.
With that said, what is everyone's experience and/or opinion regarding the two SilverStone cases? Also, what is the better case?
Edit: I forgot to mention that I am looking for a motherboard with enough SATA ports for the 8 bays in front and the 4 internal SSDs. While I highly doubt that I'd make use of the other two bays for more hard drives, I might use one of the two for a DVD or Blu Ray drive. As for the M.2 slots, if any, I don't mind either way. I have no plans to use it, whether it's for storage or otherwise. If it's an option, what could it be used for?

The CPU that we will find inside the RP4P, is the Dimensity 1100, with 4 Performance, xA78 cores, clocked out to run up to 2.6GHz & 4 ECO, xA55 cores, clocked out to run at a maximum of 2.0 GHz. Whats one of the worst things when playing a video game? Latency issues are so frustrating, and when you try to get that "Frame Perfect" button press and your bluetooth controllers latency is making this impossible( I know this is on a device that has a controller built in, but when you plug this in to your TV, throw a USB-C hub on there, plug in a ccharger, maybe a harddrive, you need to have a controller at that point) with Bluetooth5.2, you can be assured Low latency and long range, adn the ability to pair multiple devices at once. The next biggest issue for gamers is therir ping (network latency)

This large capacity battery (same size as whats in the samsung s23 ultra BTW) paired with the 4 Eco cores on the CPU, the ability to turn off the fan and control its speeds. Its min speed setting is ALWAYS MORE than enough, never go higher then this to keep battery life up, the fan is a HUGE draw on the battery. I seem to be able to bug it out very often, so even on max performance mode using dreamcast/ps2 emulators, i never see my temps above 55 deg, and STRAIGHT FROM RETROID, they claim " D100 is POP technics, our system show the cpu temperature is junction temperature, not cpu top temperature. when junction temperature arrived 90 degrees, D100 datasheet is allowed high to 125 degrees, so no feel anxious if it arrived 90 degrees. While the Micro HDMI on this device has a max resolution of 720, so opt for a USB-C hub tht allows HDMI,USB-C PD port for charging and a 2nd for Data transfer, and then Ethernet is a good option to get on this, I got one with all that plus 4 USB3.1 ports for like 12 bucks. The wired 3.5mm jack is refreshing seeing as phones have been lacking these for a long time now.

I built a new PC (with cable management and all that), but when I turned it on, the CPU and DRAM lights were on. After googling, I started trying to update the BIOS, but no matter what I did, it didn't help. Red LED either solid or stop flashing after few seconds

Hello to all! I am planning to build a dual-boot Windows 98 SE/ME and XP machine, under a 3.2 GHz Pentium 4 CPU.
I purchased four DDR-400 RAM modules in two sets: two 1 GB sticks, and two 256 MB options (I will specifically be using Himem to restrict 9x to 512 MB of RAM.) I also planned to use two 120 GB IDE HDDs, one DVD-ROM drive, one 3.5” FDD, a couple of PCI peripherals, and my GPU of choice is intended to be a GeForce FX 5500 @ 256 MB of VRAM.
So, my obligatory question is, I found a working, period-correct CompUSA 300W ATX PSU. Will this be enough wattage to supply all of my components?

So after spending a stupid amount of effort getting Panzer Commander running on my modern battlestation I decided to pull that old computer out of my garage and see if I could get it running.
Surprising it started up and booted into Windows (XP MCE). According to the system log, last boot was sometime in 2008.
Current hardware:

• Gigabyte GA-7ZXE motherboard (VIA KT-133A chipset).
• Athlon XP 2600+ 1.4ghz
• 256MB SDRAM
• SB LIVE! 5.1 Digital
• Radeon VE
• CD-R Drive
• DVD-ROM Drive

This was my rig when I went to college, running Windows Masochist Edition (ME) at the time. I want to use it as a Windows 98 gaming rig.
Replacement parts I've ordered:

• MSI KM2M Combo motherboard. The current one has about a half-dozen caps that are domed or leaking (and I remeber the KT133/SB Live cobo having a lot of stability issues). The KM2M has a 12v VRS. I looked in the MSI manual and my current RAM should be compatible.
  
• GeForce MX 400 to replace the Radeon VE
  
• Probably and IDE to SD adapter. The mechanical HDD is probably on borrowed time.
  

I'll more than likely need a new power supply, and I'm eyeing a new 4:3 LCD (though my current widescreen one has VGA in).
Is there anything else I've overlooked here? I'm targeting W98-era gaming. Maybe dual boot into XP, but primarily W98.
I'm on the fence about a Voodoo. They're stupid expensive and Dgvoodoo1 should work on that setup anyway.
For DOS gaming I'd rather build a new (older) rig.

I done it again, I messed up a device by trying to do too much… I attempted to get the public build of knulli on my 28xx. After multiple attempts I got it running. However when I put the SD card back into my Mac, I couldn’t find the files to add roms. I tried different sd cards, formatting software, Img installers, sd card readers. Nothing works. Now I have a blank device…

Issue description
I have followed the instructions posted on the release page to reformat the SHARE partition as ExFAT, but after it states that a reboot is necessary to complete the operation, regardless of whether I select "restart", or completely shut down and then power on the 28XX, Windows will still not recognize the file system of any partition on the SD card except the ~4GB one labeled BATOCERA.
Detailed reproduction steps
I downloaded the latest release of Knulli for the RG28xx. I extracted the .gz so that I ended up with a 4.57 GB .img file. I used Raspberry Pi Imager v 1.8.5 to flash the image to a 64 GB SanDisk Ultra Micro SD XC.
I inserted the card into TF slot 1 on my RG28xx. TF slot 2 remains empty. I booted the device. I pressed Start to open the settings, went to System Settings, then Frontend Developer Options, then Format a Disk. I changed the filesystem to ExFAT, then selected Format Now. I answered YES when asked if I was sure. A popup across the top of the screen stated that a reboot would be necessary to complete the operation.
I pressed Start to exit the menu. I pressed Start again, then went to Quit, then on different occasions, tried Restart System, as well as Shutdown System.
Upon rebooting, I shut the system back down and then removed the SD card. I connected the SD to my computer (running Windows 11) using a Micro SD to USB-C dongle. "This PC" assigns drive letter D: to BATOCERA, but no other partitions show there. Disk Management shows the SD as having 59.51 GB, with 36 MB Unallocated Space, two healthy primary partitions of 20 and 16 MB each, the 4 GB BATOCERA (D:) basic data partition with FAT32 file system, and a final 55.44 GB healthy primary partition. Only BATOCERA has a file system that Windows recognizes.

Ich habe mir einen komplett neuen Rechner mit "frischer" Hardware zusammengestellt und zusammengebaut. Rein Hardware-technisch funktioniert alles einwandfrei, ins BIOS komme ich problemlos und Strom/Kühlung laufen stabil.
Die Neuinstallation von Windows funktioniert jedoch nicht. Ich habe auf meinem bestehenden Rechner atm Windows 10 Pro und möchte auch erneut wieder Windows 10 Pro benutzen, nicht Windows 11.
Ich habe mir mit dem Windows Media Creation Tool einen Boot-USB Stick erstellt.
Wenn ich vom USB Stick boote, beginnt auch das Windows Setup, aber bevor ich irgendwas anklicken oder wählen kann, erscheint folgende Fehlermeldung:
"Die Einstellung kann nicht aus der Antwortdatei für die unbeaufsichtigte Installation gelesen werden."
Hier kann ich nur auf "OK" klicken oder die Fehlermeldung per "X" schließen, danach startet der Rechner aber sofort neu und es beginnt von vorne.
Zuerst hab ich gedacht, eventuell gibt es Probleme mit dem Product Key, wenn ich das vom bestehenden System als Boot-USB Stick erstelle.
Jedoch habe ich mir auch eine unabhängige ISO besorgt und mit Rufus einen USB-Boot-Stick erstellt, da erscheint aber die gleiche Fehlermeldung.
Im Internet habe ich bereits gelesen, dass es teilweise daran liegen kann, wenn man ein DVD-Laufwerk verbaut hat, das habe ich allerdings nicht mehr. Eine Boot-DVD kann ich also auch nicht mehr nutzen.
Als USB Stick benutze ich einen 32GB Stick, ist das zuviel? Wird das vom System eventuell nicht erkannt? Ist das Format Fat32 dafür korrekt? Ist es relevant, in welchem USB Port der Stick erstellt wird?

Habe in meinem Leben schon einige PCs zusammengebaut, so ein Problem hatte ich allerdings noch nie. Meinen letzten PC habe ich 2016 gebaut, da konnte ich noch ganz normal Windows 10 installieren und dann nach der Installation ganz bequem per Key aktivieren.
Für eure Hilfe wäre ich sehr dankbar, denn ich weiss gerade echt nicht mehr weiter! :D
