2024.06.09 14:14 Famous-Elk7428 Where do I even begin :'(

21F based in Australia. I recently landed my first big corporate job a couple of months back, and I've been diving deep into researching investment avenues for my savings. My dad managed to build a sizeable NW and hit his FatFIRE number, which inspired me to follow him. But honestly, all this research makes me feel a bit overwhelmed, and I’m unsure where to start. So, I could really use some more guidance!
Here are some details about my current situation all in AUD:

Some Dilemma Areas:

  1. Most people seem to calculate their FIRE number based on a clear idea of their future (like family, dependents, retirement location, etc.). But I have NO clue about any of these things. I don’t know where I’d want to retire, what my family might look like in 15-20 years, or anything like that. With so many unknown variables, how do I figure out this number?
  2. How have you guys managed to save towards your 'x' FIRE amount? Has it been solely through your salary, or have you done any side gigs or businesses to supplement it?
  3. Also, most posts I come across are heavily focused on equities. Is investing heavily in equities the only foolproof method to build such a big corpus?
  4. Finally, WHERE DO I START? Been researching into index based ETFs, is that a way to start out? Planning to shift the 9k because the current one is done through an actively managed ETF which has been underperforming.

2024.06.09 14:11 Prof-Bit-Wrangler Looking for advice and guidance

Happy Sunday morning, all! I’m coming here today to seek some insight and guidance from those of you who have been on Tirzepatide/Zepbound longer than I.
I’ve been on T/ZB for 5 1/2 months. Took my first shot the day after Christmas 2023. As of this morning, I’ve lost 54 pounds, which I am thrilled to report that! I never through I’d be back into my 240s. I’ve taken 4 inches off my waist line and just yesterday I drilled a new hole into my belt.
My regimen consists of:
I’m currently wrapping up my first full month on 7.5mg of Zepbound. I've tried the compound, but honestly I feel ZB gives me the best 'control'. I stayed on 2.5 for just a month, 5.0 for 4 months and now on 7.5mg.
This routine has sustained me through the first 5 months and I’ve had good weight loss throughout that time.
However the past few weeks I’ve noted my weight loss has dropped. I’ve had two weeks of almost no weight loss, .3 lbs at most.
Even before my two week span of no loss, I was noting that my weekly loss rate was bouncing about, between a week of less than a pound followed by a dramatic 3 lbs loss the following week. I know in the long-term this is minor, but still I could see 'trouble on the horizon'.
I really feel like my body is fighting me now. I just don't feel like I have the energy I've had during the first 5 months. The past few weeks at the end of the day after dinner, I crash on the couch and take a 45 minute nap. At first I thought I was just tired and needed it, but I’m getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night and it’s good restful sleep.
Is it my metabolism that’s fighting me, ‘forcing’ me to take a nap each day and I just need to power through it? Is this my bodies way of trying to get me to slow down the burn?
Is it time for me to get off my butt and incorporate some exercise? (Asking that question, but honestly, I think I already know the answer...)
Any other advice or guidance?
In closing, you guys all rock! I love the camaraderie and support we give each other on this channel!
Cheers!

2024.06.09 14:06 Competitive_Crow_334 Chapter 1: Creation and the Garden of Eden

Question 1: Creation
Then God saw everything he had made and indeed it was very good. So evening and morning were the 6th day. Thus heaven and earth and all their adornment were finished and on the seventh day God finished the works he made. Then God blessed the 7th day and sanctified it because in it He rested from all his works God began to make.
This story doesn’t add up where God come from and why then? Even as someone who believes there is a creator I don’t understand how it’s him and if he is as powerful as he is why did it take him 7 days to make the earth and then need rest? Shouldn’t someone so powerful think of it in an instant? Also how is time told he doesn’t make the sun and moon until the 4th day so how were evening and morning created in the start? If he created the universe and every animal why didn’t he mention dinosaurs or the ice age or even give a significant hint of one instead of being vague with the creeping things and the wild animals of earth if he knew about those ahead of time wouldn’t mentioning it help prove that he is an almighty being who can see into the future? Yes you could argue that maybe it’s not important but remember if Adam and Eve came to earth later how come it doesn’t add up to what we know about the dinosaurs and the ice age? How come God didn’t mention removing them for the safety of Adam and Eve?
Also about firmament which I found out is separating heaven from earth and that there is a waterfall separating heaven and earth? What about space and the other planets God doesn’t even mention those in a vague way? God formed man out of dust from the ground and breathed in his face the breath of life and man became a living soul.
You know at least Allah says we were made from water which is more accurate than this? Science has proven that we are made up of 6 elements Oxygen Carbon Nitrogen Calcium and Phorsopus. Only about 0.85% is composed of another five elements: potassium, sulfur, sodium, chlorine, and magnesium. All 11 are necessary for life. The remaining elements are trace elements, of which more than a dozen are thought on the basis of good evidence to be necessary for life.[1] All of the mass of the trace elements put together (less than 10 grams for a human body) do not add up to the body mass of magnesium, the least common of the 11 non-trace elements.
Yes you could argue that you could mix logic and spirituality but you can say that about any religion as well In the Quran it says seemen begins from the backbone and goes down to the ribs that’s clearly illogical but do I defend it saying I can’t mix logic and spirituality? What about Greek Mythology they had Zeus give birth to a full grown warrior woman by eating her mother when they were shapeshifting and trapping the mother who later gave birth to her in his head? I can’t say that logically either.
The Garden of Eden
Also in the middle of the Garden were the tree of life and learning the knowledge of good and evil. Then how were Adam and Eve supposed to know what they were doing is wrong?
You may eat food from every tree in the garden: but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you may not eat: for in whatever day you eat from it you shall die by death.”
Once again how is Adam supposed to know what’s good and evil? Not only is he in ‘’perfect paradise’’ that shelters him, he doesn't even possess the basic knowledge of a child of right and wrong most kids usually do? How does Adam know what death is?
Numbers 23:19 — English Standard Version (ESV) 19 God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
Titus 1:2 New International Version 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,
2 Timothy 2:13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself.
These are one of the few verses saying God doesn’t lie yet he tells Adam he will die from death(God of the Bible lacks basic grammar skills) that itself is a lie since we know what happens later. In his 10 commandments for kids to adults he says lying is a sin he also repeatedly mentions hypocrisy as a sin yet he himself not even 5 minutes into the Bible has proved guilty of this. So how do I trust anything that comes out of his mouth and that’s even if I do believe he is not a deity?
Now the serpent was more cunning than all the wild animals the lord God made on earth.
Isn’t the serpent Satan supposed to be an angel? It even said he was cast out of heaven because he tried to overthrow God by sitting in his throne while God the omnipresent(can do anything including seeing into the future and being everywhere) went away to do something. Anyway, how is Satan supposed to be smarter than the other animals? Also it’s been awhile since I studied animals as a hobby but snakes aren’t that smart on the side of animals pigs and elephants and many others are smarter. Where did Satan even learn human speech?
Then they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the Garden that afternoon and Adam and his wife hid themselves within the tree in the middle of the garden from the presence of the Lord God. So the lord God called Adam and said to him. ‘’Adam, where are you”. He replied, I heard your voice as you were walking in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.’’ Thus he said, ‘’Who said you were naked? Have you eaten from the one tree which I commanded you not eat? Then Adam said. The woman you gave me, gave me of the tree, and I ate.’ Then God punished them for eating the apple Eve with childbirth and Adam with having to get a job.
Like I said a few times, how is Adam/Eve supposed to know right from wrong if they hadn’t eaten the fruit of knowledge and he left a manipulative monster or angel who tried to recently overthrow him? How is that grounds for punishing everyone else based on something someone else did? It just seems like a cheap way for the Christian God to demonize gaining knowledge or morals outside of him without an actual argument for why? The fact he does this in the first official story is a red flag on its own. Also how is God surprised he knows their entire story before they were even made? How is he confused about what Satan would do? Also this is also another lie and contradiction he told Adam he would die from death and I assume Adam passed that onto Eve and he let Satan off with little to nothing because from the few we see of him he could go anywhere he pleases while Adam and Eve carter to him for the rest of their lives in hopes that he doesn’t punish them even worse. How is he forgiving but at the same time he punishes Adam and Eve immediately for a decision they couldn’t make on their own instead of explaining how it’s wrong and still giving them another chance?

2024.06.09 14:05 Emotional_Treat7887 Slow Fe results?

I had Covid back in early February and it completely tanked my iron. My doctor told me to take Feosol for 3 months and then retest. Normally I can tolerate it, only side effect being some constipation. However, I’ve recently gone through a period of extreme stress which has really left my stomach/digestion reeling. I’d like to find a gentler iron supplement to try that will still be effective. Does anyone have experience with Slow Fe? I see that it’s a lower dosage than the one I’ve been taking but I think that might work better for me right now.

Just wondering how tolerated is Magnesium Ascorbate as for Vitamin C supplementation, I’ve seen one that has been recommended for people with HITT issues by Allergy Research Group just had a quick look at the ingredients all seems fine except for L-leucine which I believe is an amino acid.
If anyone has used this brand please do share your experience with it!!

2024.06.09 12:33 g4sh1ani Could C. difficile and H. pylori Infections Be Causing My Brain Fog?

Hi everyone,
I've been struggling with brain fog for a while now, and after some medical tests, I've been diagnosed with infections of Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). I also found out that I have a chronic deficiency in vitamin D. Here are some details:
Despite increasing my vitamin D levels, I still don't feel any better. I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences with these infections and brain fog.

2024.06.09 12:29 callumw2_0_0_1 I avoided PEM for 4 months straight. So what are the results?

I posted this in the CFS sub, but I read here sometimes, in case anyone has any improvements themselves or to learn what worked for people.
I'm not claiming to have long-covid, but I do have ME/CFS, which I think many people do have here so I'm posting it here too for those people. I had no gut related issues / I have no experience with pain or neuropathy or any other long covid symptoms that are not ME/CFS.
Given that my situation and the situation of many people here are pretty much the same, I'm sure there's some benefit to posting. After all, I sometimes gain from reading posts here.
22M
Slow onset, which started hardly noticable when i was 20 years old. Came on over the span of 6 + months. At the time, I was exercising 15 hrs / week, working 40 hrs / week and doing a degree at the same time. It's possible my body accumulated so much stress that it just shut down, and that onset my CFS. I believe I had a preventable case if it was caught early, something 1 - 3 months of rest could've corrected, but I was experiencing some form of symptoms for almost a year before I recieved a diagnosis and by then it was far too late.
I read this subreddit a lot, mainly looking for recovery information more than anything. Sometimes I comment, but I never post, so I may aswell join in.
I've heard many things out there, that if I prevent crashing, I actually have a good shot at recovery or improvement. One thing for sure, is that the PEM keeps you in it, or can even make you worse. So what if I just stay perfectly within my energy envelope?
Of course, that's easier said than done, it's not an easy task to perfectly avoid PEM, it requires a strict adherence to many things, and not much room for error.
Back in the middle of February 2024, I set out on a mission to do exactly this. My goal is to go 1 year straight without PEM, and to see if I can regain my life back.
I believe I'm milder than many people here, but hopefully my personal experience can induce some thoughts in people here. Any hope is good, after all.
A full history of my symptoms, from my worse days probably last summer, to now are as follows. (some not present anymore, some only in PEM.)
Fatigue Insomnia (I went up to 3 days at a time unable to sleep) Brain Fog Muscle Weakness Breathlessness Headaches Sore Throat POTS Tarchadyia after eating Carbohydrates Dizzyness Light-headedness Tightness of the chest / unable to take a full deep breath Night sweats / constantly hot Wired feeling / inability to relax Sexual Dysfunction (If someone else suffers from ED please tell me because nobody talks about it, it can't just be me)
My starting baseline at the start of the year, in which I had to do to avoid PEM was as follows: 16 hours laying down / in bed to some degree, ~ 3000 steps per day. Unable to work, university from home. Although if I ate particularly garbage food it could be even less than that.
4 months later, avoiding PEM completely:
Today, 11,500 steps, 8 - 9 hours a day in bed. Regular sleeping pattern. Still doing university from home, no work. At baseline, I feel 80% - 90% normal. I tire out quite easily still, and if I do activity too close to bedtime, eat too close to bed time or break from my strict schedule, I can tell. I'm still far from being able to do what I want. I can't be careless at all.
My number one pacing tool without a doubt is my Garmin watch. It's scary how accurate it has been for me at avoiding PEM, and without this, I don't think I could have done it so perfectly.
The changes I made in my life, which has reduced the stress on my body, and improved my HRV according to my Garmin was:
Building my life around sleep. Sleep is the priority. I sleep at the same time every night, no exceptions. Blue-light glasses No technology within 1 hour before bed time Vagus nerve stimulation before bed with TENS device, basically some cheap bootleg neurosym because I can't afford neurosym. 1 hour of stretching each night Not eating at least 3 hours before bed, but generally the further i eat from bedtime, the deeper the rest I get. Keto diet, my body handles carbohydrates so terribly that this was a gamechanger. Acupressure mat Keeping my room as cold as possible I tried ice baths, which at first made me crash. Now I can use them without a crash, but they suck to get in and im not sure how big the benefit is. I think there is some, but perhaps I'll use it again in the future.
All of these things have one common goal, which is to maximise my parasympathetic nervous system, and give me as deep of a rest as possible. It's been very successful so far.
Medications & Supplements I use:
Diphenhydramine 50mg, which I use sparingly for sleep. If I'm concerned a crash is coming or some insomnia develops, I use this. It's addictive and not meant for long-term use so I can't use it all the time. I've dodged some PEM episodes with this though i'm 100% sure of that. It definitely works.
The most impactful:
Magensium Fish Oil for Omega 3s Ashwagandha Vitamin D
Secondary (Not sure how well these work, but I'm using it anyways): Vitamin B12 Vitamin C High Dose Vitamin B1
I was going to wait either 6 months or one year to make a post like this, but I may aswell make it now.
I know this improvement isn't just some luck, because before I stopped getting PEM, and made these changes, I was actually getting progressively worse over time. So this last 4 months is the first time I've actually changed my trajectory.
Any questions below are welcome.

2024.06.09 12:00 HealthandFitnesswo Slin Glucose Disposal - "Carbs into Muscle" Supplements - Health

Finding the right supplement to effectively manage carbohydrates and enhance muscle growth can be a daunting task. After trying various products, I discovered Slin Glucose Disposal, a supplement designed to convert carbs into muscle. Here, I share my positive experience with this exceptional product and how it has transformed my approach to health and fitness.
Personal Struggle with Carbohydrate Utilisation
As someone who is passionate about fitness and muscle building, managing my carbohydrate intake has always been a critical aspect of my routine. Carbohydrates are essential for energy and muscle development, but they can easily lead to fat gain if not utilised properly. Before using Slin Glucose Disposal, I often faced challenges with balancing my carb intake, leading to energy fluctuations and suboptimal muscle growth. This supplement promised to improve carbohydrate management, and I decided to give it a try.
Noticeable Improvement in Blood Sugar Levels
One of the most immediate benefits I noticed with Slin Glucose Disposal was a significant improvement in my blood sugar levels. Before incorporating this supplement into my regimen, I frequently experienced blood sugar spikes and crashes, which left me feeling fatigued and hindered my performance in the gym. Since starting Slin Glucose Disposal, my blood sugar levels have stabilised, providing me with consistent energy throughout the day. This stability has not only enhanced my overall health but also boosted my workout efficiency and endurance.
Enhanced Muscle Growth and Definition
Slin Glucose Disposal has had a profound impact on my muscle growth and definition. The supplement’s ability to improve the body's handling of carbohydrates means that more of the carbs I consume are directed towards muscle synthesis rather than fat storage. I have observed a noticeable increase in muscle fullness and definition, and my recovery times have significantly improved. This has allowed me to train harder and achieve better results in a shorter period, which has been incredibly rewarding.
Increased Energy and Workout Performance
Another remarkable benefit of Slin Glucose Disposal is the sustained increase in energy and workout performance. The stabilised blood sugar levels and efficient carbohydrate utilisation have provided me with a consistent energy boost during my workouts. I no longer experience the mid-session energy dips that used to affect my performance negatively. Instead, I have the stamina and strength to push through even the toughest workouts, which has taken my fitness journey to new heights.
Trustworthy and Natural Ingredients
A critical factor that attracted me to Slin Glucose Disposal was its blend of natural and safe ingredients. The supplement includes a combination of herbs, vitamins, and minerals that support healthy glucose metabolism and muscle growth. Ingredients like berberine, alpha-lipoic acid, and cinnamon extract are well-known for their efficacy in managing blood sugar and improving insulin sensitivity. Knowing that I am using a product made from natural components gives me peace of mind regarding its safety and effectiveness.
Overall Enhancement in Health and Fitness
The comprehensive benefits of Slin Glucose Disposal have not only improved my carbohydrate management but also enhanced my overall health and fitness. With better energy levels, improved muscle growth, and stable blood sugar, I feel more in control of my body and my workouts. The positive changes I have experienced with this supplement have significantly enhanced my quality of life and my results in the gym.
In conclusion, Slin Glucose Disposal is an outstanding supplement that has delivered exceptional results in carbohydrate management and muscle growth. Its natural ingredients and effective formulation make it a valuable addition to any fitness routine. I highly recommend Slin Glucose Disposal to anyone looking to optimise their carbohydrate intake and enhance their health and fitness outcomes.

Papertale - Intro/Opening (I forgot who made this art but credits to them)
Long ago. There was a race that was free from being trapped in a Underground. Known as the MONSTERS. They were saved and freed by the 7th fallen human. As they went on to have a happy life in the surface. With 2 Skeletons. Known as. Papyrus And Sans. Going on to become detectives against criminal activity. One night.. Their friends. Vanished. Years later. They found out they were last seen. At a school.. they went on there.. as they see the school. With it being called. FUNDAMENTAL PAPER EDUCATION. After they mess around outside the park of the place. They then decide to head to the entrance. They open the door.. only to see it being dark.. Darker.. Yet.. Darker.. until... they suddenly fall down. deep into the abyss below. a few hours later... they suddenly wake up. In a strange.. new underworld...
and thats the lyrics.. i mainly wanted to take this to a unique approach and Make most of the original UT cast the fallen.. i guess monsters. And instead of 7 human souls its 8 monster souls in order to be free. With Sans and Papyrus being the last 2 souls.. and also instead of it being a reskin of undertale and.. idk make Claire role of Frisk.. I decide to make it.. there is no Frisk.. because well The characters you play as are Sans and Papyrus with there being a 5th Button called the Magic Button where you gain CC (Calcium) in order to use their abilities in encounters. And this also takes place after Undertale's Pacifist route..
And btw FPE Characters are role of UT Characters such as.. Zip as Sans. Edward as Papyrus. Alice as Asgore etc etc. So yayyy!! 2 papyruses fighting each other! :D anyway. Tell me what ya think!

2024.06.09 11:33 Spiritual_Package185 Hating my second pregnancy

2nd baby is a surprise and I wanted at least a 3/4 year gap.. I’m currently pregnant with my 2nd and I don’t want to be. Absolutely hate the fact that I am pregnant again and I’m currently going through that much pelvic and lower back pain, currently on paid mat leave, have GD (just started Metformin) and low iron and low Vitamin D, my first Bub is only 21 months and I’m currently 32 weeks with my second.. Ive got my fingers crossed that I can bond with the baby when she comes out, otherwise I’m going to end up hating myself!! Honestly we don’t have a lot of help/support either and I’m the only one working whilst dad is the stay at home parent, I make just over 2k a fortnight.. and have about 300/380 left after I pay everything. I do have to have another c section which was a pain in the arse for healing for the first baby. Went to the doctors because my c section was hurting that much and they told me to have Panadol, “scar looks like it’s healed great, and if the pain in a 10 then to go to ED!!”, so I just got in the car and went home and laid in bed crying until I wasn’t as sore, When I do complain that I don’t want this baby and I’ve gained too much weight and I’m hating my body and the hormones, my partners reply is always “it takes two to tango”, NO IT TAKES YOU 2 MINUTES AND ME 9 MONTHS TO CREATE THIS BABY!! IM THE ONE GOING THROUGH THE FUKN SHIT!!! NOT YOU!! AND ALL THE AFTER WORK WITH IT ALL AND THE HORMONES and breast feeding and appointments and everything!! Then I have to go back to work after 6 months because I’m earning more! IM EXHAUSTED AND TIRED AND OVER IT AND FEEL THE NEED TO LEAVE FOR A WHOLE WEEK!! 😭😭 I’m overwhelmed and overstimulated from my first born and the GD is being a pain in my arse for my second! Idk, just needing to rant because my partner doesn’t want to hear it over and over again! I’m struggling, I’m sore everyday and I just don’t want a 2nd child, guess I’m pissed that this is sorta forced on me to keep the child! Abortion was not an option at all! I wanted all my children planned. So fingers crossed I’m able to bond with the baby after she’s cut out of me 🙁

2024.06.09 11:31 Many-Advice9404 Balancing Act: Micros and Macros for Effective Weight Loss

Balancing Act: Micros and Macros for Effective Weight Loss

Introduction

weight loss
Achieving weight loss goals requires more than just cutting calories; it involves a strategic approach to nutrition that balances macronutrients (macros) and micronutrients (micros). Understanding how these nutrients impact your body can help you make informed dietary choices that support sustainable weight loss. In "Micros and Macros for Weight Loss," we will explore the roles of these essential nutrients and provide practical tips on how to incorporate them into your diet to effectively reach your weight loss goals.

Macronutrients (Macros) for Weight Loss

1. Carbohydrates:
  • Role: Provide energy, especially for high-intensity activities.
  • Types: Focus on complex carbohydrates over simple sugars to promote satiety and stable blood sugar levels.
  • Sources: Whole grains (brown rice, quinoa, oats), vegetables, fruits, and legumes.
  • Tips: Prioritize fiber-rich carbs like vegetables and whole grains to enhance fullness and reduce overall calorie intake.
2. Proteins:
  • Role: Essential for muscle repair, growth, and maintaining lean body mass during weight loss.
  • Sources: Lean meats (chicken, turkey), fish, eggs, dairy products, legumes, tofu, and nuts.
  • Tips: Include protein in every meal to help control hunger and support metabolic rate. Aim for about 1.2-1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight.
3. Fats:
  • Role: Important for hormone production, nutrient absorption, and satiety.
  • Types: Emphasize healthy fats such as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats.
  • Sources: Avocados, nuts, seeds, olive oil, fatty fish, and coconut oil.
  • Tips: Include small amounts of healthy fats in your diet to stay full longer and avoid unhealthy snacking.

Micronutrients (Micros) for Weight Loss

1. Vitamins:
  • Role: Support various bodily functions, including metabolism, immune function, and energy production.
  • Key Vitamins for Weight Loss:
    • Vitamin D: Supports bone health and immune function. Sources include fatty fish, fortified dairy, and sunlight exposure.
    • B Vitamins: Essential for energy metabolism. Sources include whole grains, meat, eggs, dairy, and leafy greens.
    • Vitamin C: Important for immune health and antioxidant protection. Sources include citrus fruits, strawberries, and bell peppers.
2. Minerals:
  • Role: Vital for processes such as muscle function, hydration, and nerve signaling.
  • Key Minerals for Weight Loss:
    • Magnesium: Helps regulate muscle and nerve function. Sources include nuts, seeds, and leafy greens.
    • Calcium: Essential for bone health and may aid in fat loss. Sources include dairy products, fortified plant-based milks, and leafy greens.
    • Iron: Important for oxygen transport and energy levels. Sources include red meat, poultry, beans, and spinach.

Achieving Balance for Weight Loss

Till now I was drinking coffee ffe only till 2pm (i had problem of falling to sleep).
Also I have ADD, problem to deep focus… I am currently on Strattera (80mg) and recently I quit antidepressants (10mg) because I had problem to fall asleep. I think my anxiety aty is better and you know, without good sleep my ADD is just worst.
Currently I feel that I sleep better so I decided to quit coffee (3rd day). Before I was espresso (or capucciono lover) but my taste has changed.
Of course I am addicted to coffein, so I have decided to start with black tea and matcha. Idk if I am just bored from coffee (or it is a big push from society to drink it) or I just need to change my life.
Anyone has experienced something similar ?
My goal is to have constant level of enegy. Not crazy spike and then needing to do a secret homeoffice nap at 3pm). (Also I suplemment my self with magnesium, D, and everythinf).
