Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Dallas Mavericks Recap: May 15, 2024

Introduction

In a game that could only be described as a rollercoaster of emotions, the Oklahoma City Thunder faced off against the Dallas Mavericks on May 15, 2024. The matchup was highly anticipated, with both teams looking to make a statement as the season winds down. The bookmakers had their say, with DraftKings and FanDuel both favoring the Mavericks slightly, but as we all know, the game isn't played on paper. Let's dive into the nitty-gritty of this thrilling encounter.

Pre-Game Odds and Predictions

Before the game, the odds were stacked in favor of the Dallas Mavericks. According to DraftKings, the Mavericks were priced at 1.56, while the Thunder were at 2.5. FanDuel had similar odds, with the Mavericks at 1.57 and the Thunder at 2.46. Clearly, the bookmakers believed that Dallas had the upper hand, but as the saying goes, "That's why they play the game."

First Quarter: A Tale of Two Halves

The game started with the Mavericks coming out of the gates hot. Luka Dončić, the Slovenian sensation, was in his element, orchestrating the offense with the precision of a Swiss watch. He racked up 10 points and 4 assists in the first quarter alone, making the Thunder defense look like a bunch of traffic cones. The Mavericks jumped to an early lead, and it seemed like the game might be over before it even started.
However, the Thunder had other plans. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder's star guard, decided that he wasn't going to let Luka have all the fun. He went on a personal 8-0 run, slicing through the Mavericks' defense like a hot knife through butter. By the end of the first quarter, the Thunder had clawed their way back to within 5 points, trailing 30-25.

Second Quarter: The Thunder Strikes Back

The second quarter was all about the Thunder. They tightened up their defense, forcing the Mavericks into a series of ill-advised shots and turnovers. Josh Giddey, the Thunder's young Australian guard, was everywhere on the court, grabbing rebounds, dishing out assists, and even blocking a couple of shots. The Mavericks looked flustered, and their once-fluid offense had turned into a stagnant mess.
On the offensive end, the Thunder were firing on all cylinders. Luguentz Dort, known more for his defense, decided to show off his offensive skills, hitting three consecutive three-pointers. By halftime, the Thunder had not only erased the deficit but had taken a 55-50 lead. The Mavericks were left scratching their heads, wondering what had just hit them.

Third Quarter: The Luka Show

If the second quarter belonged to the Thunder, the third quarter was all about Luka Dončić. The Mavericks' star put on a clinic, scoring 15 points in the quarter and making it look effortless. He hit step-back threes, drove to the basket with authority, and even threw in a couple of no-look passes for good measure. The Thunder had no answer for him, and it showed.
Despite Luka's heroics, the Thunder managed to keep the game close. Gilgeous-Alexander continued to play at a high level, and the Thunder's role players stepped up when needed. By the end of the third quarter, the Mavericks had regained the lead, but it was a slim one, 80-78.

Fourth Quarter: Down to the Wire

The fourth quarter was a nail-biter, with both teams trading blows like heavyweight boxers. Every time the Mavericks looked like they were going to pull away, the Thunder would come storming back. It was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to gain a significant advantage.
With just under a minute left, the game was tied at 100. The Mavericks had the ball, and everyone in the arena knew who was going to take the shot. Luka Dončić dribbled at the top of the key, sizing up his defender. He made his move, driving to the basket and finishing with a beautiful floater to give the Mavericks a 102-100 lead.
The Thunder had one last chance to tie or win the game. Gilgeous-Alexander took the inbounds pass and drove to the basket, but his shot was blocked by Kristaps Porziņģis, the Mavericks' towering center. The ball bounced out to Giddey, who launched a desperation three-pointer as time expired. The shot clanged off the rim, and the Mavericks held on for a thrilling 102-100 victory.

Post-Game Analysis

Mavericks' Key Performers

  • Luka Dončić: Luka was the star of the show, finishing with 35 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds. He was unstoppable at times, and his performance was the main reason the Mavericks were able to pull out the win.
  • Kristaps Porziņģis: Porziņģis had a solid game, contributing 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks. His defense in the final moments was crucial in securing the victory.
  • Tim Hardaway Jr.: Hardaway provided a spark off the bench, scoring 15 points and hitting some key shots in the second half.

Thunder's Key Performers

  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Gilgeous-Alexander was fantastic, finishing with 28 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds. He did everything he could to keep the Thunder in the game, but it wasn't quite enough.
  • Josh Giddey: Giddey had a strong all-around game, with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. His energy and hustle were evident throughout the game.
  • Luguentz Dort: Dort chipped in with 17 points, including some big three-pointers in the second quarter. His defense was also a key factor in the Thunder's comeback.

Conclusion

In the end, the Mavericks' star power was just too much for the Thunder to overcome. Luka Dončić showed why he's considered one of the best players in the league, and the Mavericks' supporting cast did just enough to secure the win. The Thunder put up a valiant effort, but they came up just short.
This game was a perfect example of why the NBA is so exciting. It had everything you could want: star performances, clutch plays, and a dramatic finish. Both teams can take positives from this game, but for the Mavericks, it's a win that could give them momentum as they head into the final stretch of the season.

2024.05.16 23:54 EnvelopedSound Am I on the right track? Planning a sub-$300 upgrade for my car.

TLDR: Planning a cost-effective sound upgrade for my 2006 Corolla LX with a JVC-KD-X280BT head unit and Hertz K 165 front and Uno X 690 rear speakers; aiming for good volume and quality without an amp, with an ideal budget of $300.
Hello all, I have recently purchased a 2006 toyota corolla lx, and I have been doing lots of research on how I can make the most cost-effective upgrade for my car's sound, and I thought people in CarAv could help! My priorities for this upgrade is:
Things I am definitely going to replace is the front and rear speakers, and the headunit (stock doesn't have aux.) The headunit can get surprisingly VERY loud but the stock speakers distort very easily. Sound deadening wise, this car is pretty quiet, so no deadening is really needed at the moment.
Links to what I'm considering:
Headunit - JVC-KD-X280BT $70
22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels. Pretty cheap. Not that many negative reviews about sound quality.
Front componet speakers - Hertz K 165 pair - $100
93.5 dB sensitivity. Not many of the negative reviews complained about the speakers being quiet.
Rear coaxial speakers - Hertz Uno X 690 - $100
94 dB sensitivity. Again, reviews did not complain about being quieter than stock.
These different speakers don't seem to be the same series but at least they are the same brand. My biggest concern about the speakers is that they will be very tonally different, and would not be able to be adjusted to sound right unless I had a super expensive DSP.
Is there something I'm missing? Will it be too quiet without an amp? Do I need a more premium headunit?
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.16 23:53 beawitcheries Any INTPs prefer the humanities?

Perhaps because of my 4 wing but I've always preferred subjects like history, philosophy, sociology and art; the uncertainity and endless answers and interpretations is what draws me to them, my favourite subject at high school was religious studies & art. I've occaisionally dabbled in STEM stuff like maths and coding and it's not like I suck at it but it bores me and I have little interest to pursue anything in that area as a life-long career (maybe except astronomy & theoretical physics if I had to pick).
It seems most descriptions of INTPs sound quite stereotypical and center towards 5w6s so I never see information on INTPs who are very creative and arts focused who I find usually have a 4 wing (although not always the case obviously).

2024.05.16 23:52 Coyote_Havoc Gallóglaigh: Fáilte Abhaile

First Previous
"Arran of many stags, the sea strikes at her shoulders, companies of men can feed there, blue spears are reddend amongst her boulders. Merry hinds are on her hills, juicy berries are there for food, refreshing water in her streams, nuts in plenty in the wood."
-Agalllamh na senorach-
"Don't say goodbye, wish me luck and a swift return."
Sorcha's words echoed in Robert's head as he watched the transports race the local star into the sky. Robert was the last to leave the cargo bay, wanting to remain in her presence for as long as possible. It was childish now that he thought of it, but it had earned him a long, deep kiss and a promise she would come back to him soon.
The port where they had been dropped off was located on a cliff overlooking the sea, and the golden light of dawn was echoed on the incoming waves. Beyond the tarmac, grass and bushes grew unhindered and thin trees towered over the terminal. Robert led the 449th toward the building which was built to resemble something out of a story book. A faux thatch roof hung over white walls resembling rough hewn stone while a clocktower with a black slate roof rose from behind. It was a beautiful example of deceptive architecture to give a weary traveler a sense of tranquility. The main concourse radiated the same fairy tale charm with shops lining the interior between cobblestone walkways and a grassy area with long wooden benches under manicured alder trees.
To the casual observer it was a welcome distraction from the busy day to day worries of modern life, to the former convicts who were used to concrete, reinforced walls and armed guards it was heaven on earth. Robert's troops ignored the benches to lay in the soft grass, a luxury unaffordable to the soldier and the convict alike, drawing looks of curiosity from travelers and shop workers alike and Robert had to fight the urge to join his men in this simple pleasure. Finding a seat on a bench, he sufficed himself by running his left hand through the soft blades where the unit colors had been planted.
"How long have you all been fighting?" A stranger asked.
"Feels like forever." Robert replied feeling a pang of guilt at not telling the whole truth.
"Just passing through?" The stranger inquired.
"Here to stay, at least for a while I hope." Robert said.
The strangers face brightened and his eyes reflected the smile that he wore.
"Fáilte Abhaile Óglaigh," He said before continuing to his gate.
Gallóglaigh was the only word Robert knew in Gaelic, and it quickly became apparent that he would have to learn quickly as other people took notice of the rag-tag unit relaxing in the grass. Gallóglaigh meant young soldier he surmised, so óglaigh probably meant soldier, but 'saighdiúir' as well as 'laoch' was also directed at him and his men. Laoch sounded bad, but the people who said it smiled and shook hands with him. 'Saighdear' sounded like 'saighdiúir' and he had no idea what 'ghaisgich' meant, but every face told them how happy they were to meet them. 'Tha gaol again ort' and 'Is Breà liom tú' found their way to his troops, mostly from women and a number of them tried to pronounce the words themselves which caused more confusion and a few impromptu lessons on pronouncing the words followed by a kiss on the cheek or forehead.
Robert was seriously considering reigning in his troops when he heard a more familiar language from a weathered older man with an amused smile.
"May I assume you're Colonel Grant of the 449th?"
"Yes sir." Robert replied.
"Perfect, I'm your escort, Brian McMurray," he said, "whenever you're ready please follow me."
Robert was able to contain the enthusiasm of his rowdy batch of heathens before they could caused any trouble, to the further amusement of their escort, and they wove their way through the port with the expert guidance of Brian McMurray who led them to several busses waiting just outside the passenger entrance. Troops were filed onto four of the vehicles and Robert was guided to an open deck with his officers while the lower deck of the front vehicle would carry the remaining troops. Brian sat in the front and swiveled his seat around to address them.
"I do apologizefor not having an air transport to meet you, but the MacSweeney family was able to charter these coaches at the last minute." Brian said as the coaches began to move.
"MacSweeney?" Hobbs said under his breath.
"Shut up Cyrano." Robert ordered.
"It's alright Colonel," Brian said, "Yes Captain, Laird Collin MacSweeney, Governor of Arran. Have you heard about him before?"
Hobbs eyes grew wide and he shook his head to indicate he hadn't. Robert turned a shade of red, Jacob and Derrick had the common sense to hold their tounges. Thomas on the other hand...
"Collin MacSweeney, son of Aaron MacSweeney, current lord of the MacSweeney family. Descending from Suibhne O'Niall, chieftain of Argyll. Aaron MacSweeney, settled Arran with the last Gaelic speaking people from Ireland and Scotland in order to preserve their heritage."
"Thank you,Captain Reed." Robert said, half relieved Hobbs had been bailed out, and half curious how Thomas knew so damn much.
"Rather impressive summary I must say," Brian replied, "anywho, the languages you were having trouble with and the history of this world will be made available to your troops, please do study it to prevent any unfortunate misunderstandings. We should be arriving in Brodick Castle shortly."
"If I may," Robert asked, "What is the history and population of Arran?"
"Certainly," Brian replied, "Arran Colony was started with the last 1000 Irish and Scots Gaelic people on Earth. With a bit of hard work and luck we settled the planet as an agriculture world, primarily ranching but expanding into other crops and fishing as well as natural textiles and some light mining and mineral refinement. Today Arran has a population of just over four million."
4 million, from the look of the small port town which hugged the harbor you wouldn't know it.
"And the port city?" Robert inquired.
"Brodick." Brian explained. "The harbor on this island is almost an exact match of Brodick on Earth, so the island was named Brodick as well as the city we just passed through and the MacSweeney family have called it home ever since."
"Brod..."
Robert shot Hobbs a murderous glance before he could finish and the rest of the trip was conducted in silence.
The chartered coaches pulled onto a gravel driveway in front of an amazing castle, built stone by stone into an exact replica of the one on Earth. Troops were ordered to disembark and form ranks below a massive tower that loomed regally over them. An equally impressive man exited to greet the arrived troops, wearing a fine wool suit and a red and black kilt shot through with yellow covered slightly by a leather sporran with polished silver trim. Robert waited for Hobbs to call it a skirt, and was thankful that he remained silent.
"Fáilte Abhaile." Laird MacSweeney said in a neutral tone.
"Apologies sir," Robert replied nervously, "but the men don't speak much Gaelic yet."
"No worries," Laird MacSweeney said, "but 500 does not a regiment make."
"No sir." Robert replied. "We are what's left from Diani unfortunately."
Laird MacSweeney nodded quietly. "We shall have to remedy that. Carry on."
Robert rendered a salute "On the orders of the Terran Military, The 449th Infantry Regiment has been reassigned to Arran SIR!"
Laird MacSweeney returned the salute and began to speak.
"I know who you are and where you came from. I expect all of you to act like civilized people, not the convicts you were previously. Think carefully how you conduct yourselves here on Arran. Housing accommodations for the command staff will be here at the castle, company commanders and enlisted will be housed temporarily in a hotel in the city. This is your second chance gentlemen, you will not recieve leniency from me or my people."
Laird MacSweeney paused momentarily to let the warning sink in.
"With that being said, you are owed three months of pay, which has already been taken care of, and I believe a week furlough is in order to acclimatize you to Arran. Be responsible and respectful, but please enjoy yourselves. Colonel Grant."
Robert nodded and rendered salute again before turning and shouting "DISMISSED!"
The unit cheered at their freedom, but returned the the coaches in a somewhat orderly fashion. Robert tensed slightly at the thought of what they might do if not under watch, and the hand placed lightly on his shoulder made him flinch inside.
"Calm yourself Colonel," Laird MacSweeney said in a gentle tone, "You have a lot of work ahead of you yo get your unit properly organized, but you've done an excellent job considering."
"Thank you sir." Robert replied. "If I might ask, what does Fáilte Abhaile mean?"
Laird MacSweeney chuckled as Robert turned to face him.
"We shall have to remedy that as well." Laird MacSweeney replied.
"Fáilte Abhaile means Welcome home."

2024.05.16 23:51 mellow_tulip Diagnosing DID

I’m a little confused about this. I believe DID exists, but don’t think I have it. But my therapist of a couple years started to bring it up a little and I totally shut down. Recently, I was reading about how it takes therapists a long time to really know for sure, but also that diagnostic tools such as the DES-II and MID are useful. Isn’t someone with true DID, which is a phenomenon that stays hidden, often struggle to answer the questions in those diagnostic tools accurately? They may not remember getting triggered or experiencing flashbacks, may not remember that a chunk of time is missing? I think my T gave me the DES-II early on in our work and it took me like 4 sessions to get through the questions because they all made me deeply anxious. In the end, my score didn’t seem so high, but now when I think back to some of the questions, I realize that I put 0 for missing chunks of time when actually I guess I do miss chunks of time.
Any therapists who do work with DID have insight here?

2024.05.16 23:51 mr_boizoff Truthear x Crinacle ZERO: RED Earphones Review

Truthear x Crinacle ZERO: RED Earphones Review
A job change and all sorts of other adventures made me take some time off from the reviews. But, as the saying is, "Don't count on it!" — there will be a lot of them in the short run, and they will be interesting, well balanced and spot on!
In short, let's talk today about the in-ear wired earphones Truthear x Crinacle ZERO: RED (or just RED later on), which I purchased for about $55 you know where.
https://preview.redd.it/9ywolwakyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57da9791a73200cc6d3c99ce8a3c061657ae7bb8
By the way, my old camera broke down, so I bought a new one, that's why the pictures will be even more unbelievably brilliant now. Come on and get a look, all the pictures are clickable, as always.

Truthear in a nutshell

Truthear, a Chinese company, has just turned 2 years old, but they have already released 5 models of earphones and one portable DAC. The company was allegedly founded by one or more Moondrop people. With all the trimmings of modern Chinese fashion, Truthear has a mascot, which is an anime girl named Shiroi, weighing 45 kg, 170 cm tall and... I have no idea why I say all this.
Their partner in the field of 3D printing technology is HeyGears, whose equipment or capacities, I believe, Truthear uses to produce its devices (at least, earphones).

What's included

The proud owner of this top-quality cardboard box will find in it as follows:
https://preview.redd.it/ea3yvoxpyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd5ea91ac6fdb1ec11c76dd3f8c77c81b7b7b7e9
1. the earphones themselves;
2. a cable with a 3.5 TRS connector;
3. an adapter with an additional load of 10 Ohms (I'll tell you why we need it later);
4. a set of 7 pairs of eartips;
5. a fair-to-middling cover made of faux leather;
6. a pile of papers with the image of Shiroi.
The box, I will repeat myself, is perfectly made, I've never seen anything like this. I'm totally cool with the set, it's a good one.

Technological features, build quality

RED use a less common structure 'a larger dynamic driver + a second smaller dynamic driver'. The first one is responsible for the subbass and bass up to 200 Hz and has a diameter of 10 mm, and the second one plays the rest of the range and has a diameter of 7.5 mm.
The manufacturer talks about the 'CCAW voice coil', that is, about the fact that the driver coil is made of copper-plated aluminum wire. Usually, when it applies to headphones, this is made to reduce the weight of the driver's mobile system. This technology is not new: for example, it is also used in Moondrop Aria Snow.
Besides, 'DLP', or 'Digital light processing', 3D printing technology is mentioned. This is a three-dimensional printing process, characterized by high accuracy and the ability to correctly reproduce extremely small details.
And the last but not the least, the earphones are optimized for use at high volume (over 94 dB) and configured in accordance with the 'IEF Neutral 2023' curve by Corin Ako (better known as Crinacle), but with some adjustments in the bass and subbass sections, giving the sound of RED more weight and physicality.
So, RED are earphones printed on an industrial 3D printer, based on a 2-driver scheme. And Crinacle, a well-known reviewer and owner of the largest IEM measurement database, is responsible for tuning RED.
The earphones have a simple but distinctive design. The enclosures are completely glossy and slightly transparent on the inside. On the outside, there are mildly glaring red inserts under a coat of varnish.
https://preview.redd.it/5og1uxwsyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b0403d22e9fcb489cf8da789149869145fcf8349
You can discern bass speakers inside at a definite angle.
https://preview.redd.it/9v2r688uyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=846183aa032e50b66ae4344c5af8fe6109e1cc26
The grids of the sound ducts are neat, inserted smoothly.
https://preview.redd.it/6b569ycvyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a2a9a4c28e277808efd6e80c2b767457ee7e640
There is one compensation hole per each earphone, located in close proximity to a 2-pin connector. L and R are marked in bright golden letters. Small edgings for fixing the eartips were made, too.
Overall, they are quite good and even stylish. The only issue is microscratching that affects the enclosure right off the bat. But it's not really perceptible to the eye.
On top of that, the earphones act as a magnet to fingerprints.
The cable is just decent. It doesn't get too tangled, and the earholders are made at the right angle. The metal splitter is solid black, with the company logo printed on it.
https://preview.redd.it/c7331knwyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d66836329928887b3fc396b7bb6596bf486eae20
The very same cable comes with Truthear HEXA and Zero earphones.
The case is made decently, too, but it does not have any internal compartments or partitions. I already wrote about how an adequate case should be designed 5 years ago – no one has released anything alike yet.
https://preview.redd.it/3rbvma2zyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc21b72be8af06e6cd816a5903135b0e1255c46a

Ergonomics

The geometry of the RED enclosures turned out to be perfectly compatible with my ears. They don’t have any strange concavities, bulges, or sharp edges, the sound ducts are positioned at a natural angle, the dimensions of the enclosures are... ordinary, only a little thick. Just put them in and listen to music. And they don't have much weight at all.
I'll assume that the sound ducts may turn out to be uncomfortably large for owners of small ears, because, let's be honest, these are not sound ducts, they are simply muzzles. Probably, when you get a first taste of these earphones, you will want to change your favorite eartips for the same, but smaller ones.
The flipside is the noise insulation — RED's one is above average because the earphones fit in tightly.
As for the 10-Ohm adapter, it is not convenient to use it on the go: a few centimeters long, thin rigid structure will stick out of the player audio output, which can easily damage the connector if stressed accidentally.

Quick specifications overview

  • Design: in-ear closed-back.
  • Drivers: 2 dynamic drivers.
  • Impedance: 18 Ohms.
  • Sensitivity: 117 dB.
  • Connectors: classic 2-pin, 0.78 mm.
  • Weight: 6 g (each earphone).

Subjective sound impression

RED sound great: balanced and new at the same time. Imagine that a 'top-up' of a very weighty and fast subbass was added to neutral sound delivery, which never overlaps the bass for a moment, not a iota, let alone the mid-frequency range. What's more, a lot of well-articulated high frequencies were poured in (we're talking about the 3-10 kHz range), but not those that get sandy, filled with sibilants that grate on the ear. They are just heard very well. This is, you know, sort of 'a joy of a HF-phobe who still wants a lot of HF'. With this in mind, the middle range is perceived to the utmost, there are no dips and curbs there, and it is just excellent.
The result is a 'smooth', but vibrant and simultaneously informative sound delivery with a stable low-frequency basis, perceived as 'dynamic' and 'detailed'. It is ten kinds of cool, simply brilliant tuning that retains its uniqueness and accuracy far beyond the price category of these earphones.
Against the background of the high frequencies delivered in this fashion, RED have a clear and wide virtual sound stage with a clear localization of instruments. It could be better, but in a very, very different price bracket.
Why the RED sound might not work for someone:
  • The sound is not 'thick'. And that's exactly how a normal bass, separated from the subbass, not affecting the midrange, sounds like.
  • "I hear something that's out of place". When mixing, the authors decided to make the recording 'brighter' or simply did not handle the sound very carefully, having thought that no one would hear the nuances. If this was the case, RED will let you hear weird synthetic glide sounds, abrupt high-frequency sounds etc. To cut it short, you will hear a lot of blatant defects in the music poorly recorded and mixed, as well as a lot of new and amazing things in the well-recorded and -mixed one.
  • There's not enough subbass. And here comes the 10-Ohm adapter included. Upon its connection, the bass and subbass are raised by 3 dB (see the next section). Even if everything is fine with your subbass perception, when using RED in an urban environment, the low-frequency range being masked with external sound sources may require the usage of this adapter.
  • The ultra-high frequency range (from 10 kHz and above) could be more delicate. Actually not, it couldn't because the earphones cost 5,000 rubles and not 50,000.
  • To sum up, in terms of frequency balance, the RED sound is truly unique and one of a kind. For me, RED have become the first in-ear headphones in a month of Sundays that made me freeze on the spot when listening to music that I've been familiar with for a lifetime.

Measurements

The earphones were connected to the RME ADI-2 DAC (IEM output). A measuring rig conforms to the IEC60318-4 standard. The provided eartips were used for measurements. The smoothing is indicated on the graphs. For the info about rigs, graphs and headphones measurements, refer to my article.
Frequency response:
https://preview.redd.it/eri2gsdezu0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=290174f139b73f2f312471e985e624548293bc9b
Keep your eye out for the dashed green line – this is the target curve conventionally named Crinacle Neutral Target 2023. This target curve was proposed by Ako in April 2023 as an alternative to the Harman curve, which is appreciated by far from everyone. The diffuse field curve measured at the Type 5128 rig manufactured by Brüel & Kjær was used as a basis, which was then transferred to the IEC711 rig and 'tilted' clockwise. Why it was done and why this way – I will try to answer these questions in detail in another article on the theoretical part of measurements, but I won't go deep at the moment.
What matters is that this is not just a tuning. This is a very specific tuning that has been contemplated on for quite a while.
To put this in perspective and see something more common, here is the frequency response of RED and the most current Harman curve:
https://preview.redd.it/hi0j1bkuzu0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8fd9854f18d81798fc43e769f6eca16027dbb144
And the situation here is very interesting:
  • up to 200 Hz, the RED frequency response corresponds to the Harman curve in shape;
  • 200 Hz are 'sunk', and this is what gives a feeling of elastic, full-fledged subbass;
  • at low frequencies and in the middle, there is a smooth addition of up to 2 dB at maximum;
  • the midrange rise is shifted from 2.7 kHz slightly to the right;
  • peaks after 13 kHz are most likely aberrations of the rig, I personally do not hear them.
Does such sound tuning have a right to life? My ears tell me that yes, more than that.
As a reminder, there is a 10-Ohm attenuator included.
https://preview.redd.it/gna9eigwzu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb2c1b9ed0b29c76a2e156215626383ff72c6ca4
When it is connected, the left part of the frequency response graph rises predictably, and the sound becomes more 'common':
https://preview.redd.it/n5egvhryzu0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b3d26d901780a7eca911071bd68f838b2ce6b88
The left/right volume balance is not ideal, but acceptable:
https://preview.redd.it/iwsc9mh00v0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e7fb32e88c180e2183a53c7747464d5ab8382ef5
Nonlinear distortions (these are measurements that should not be 100% trusted because my equipment is far from perfect):
https://preview.redd.it/m8ozge320v0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b47fde9e64b1857e633b8adebc82a2f182f5da6

Sound source choice

For my listening tests, I've connected the earphones to the following devices.
  • PC + RME ADI-2 DAC fs (IEM output) – unbalanced connection
  • PC + RME ADI-2 DAC fs ('High Power' mode) – unbalanced connection
  • Hiby R6 gen 3 ( Gain – High, Amplifier Operation – Class AB/A)
The sources were switched by a mechanical input switch.
With Hiby R6, the earphones' sound is a little more bassy and solid. I didn't hear any other difference in the sound of RED when using various sources.

Eartip choice

I didn't like the eartips provided.
https://preview.redd.it/ibe7nc860v0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fbd68bf567e714ad6809423295c8e0b049af3048
Three left pairs have a clearly smaller diameter compared to one of the sound duct and are just difficult to pull on. The right pairs fit the sound ducts easier, but just like the left ones, they're not really soundproof.
As for foam eartips, I just don't like them.
In short, I tested RED with TRI Clarion, and the same I recommend to you. The fit is comfortable, deep and tight enough.

Comparisons

PLEASE NOTE: everything I say below is only applicable to the earphones from the point of view of comparison to other models, nothing more!

RED vs. Truthear HEXA

The Truthear x Crinacle ZERO: RED and Truthear HEXA frequency response graphs compared:
https://preview.redd.it/690dctkb0v0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=901456e8b5ae27dfe60ab024099b82a41dd4f49a
Subjective difference in sounding
  • RED are much bassier as compared to HEXA.
  • HEXA have a more pronounced middle range and less accentuated upper frequencies.
  • However, the upper frequency range of HEXA is less even, so the peak of nearly 7.5 kHz is perceived more clearly with HEXA.
Compared to each other, RED's sound can be called 'V-shaped', with their sound delivery more versatile, whereas HEXA are more 'reserved' and 'neutral'.

RED vs. Moondrop May

I'd like to note that comparing RED earphones and, in fact, DAP+earphones, which is what May is, is incorrect. Therefore, below we will talk only about the sound. May were connected via their standard DSP cable, and the equalizer was set to 'Standard'.
The Truthear x Crinacle ZERO: RED and Moondrop May frequency response graphs compared:
https://preview.redd.it/up1nlade0v0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10b015a8032de6440aefc8033fde02c579d72268
Subjective difference in sounding
  • May highlight the range of about 6 kHz in a stronger manner, their sound is more sonorous and sharp.
  • The voices in May's interpretation sound noticeably closer.
  • May give the sound a little more 'physicality' and 'dirt'.
Compared to each other, RED's sound can be called more 'neutral' and even 'intelligent', whereas I would characterize May's sound delivery as 'rougher', less 'balanced', more 'subjective'.

Summary

The Chinese economic ramp-up, the development of manufacturing technologies for drivers and enclosures, as well as the development of knowledge about sound in in-ear headphones let us buy a product for 5,000 rubles in 2024, for which sound they would have charged us good 50 thousand without batting an eyelid and turning a hair 10 years ago, although it seems questionable to me that someone would have been up to such tuning at that time.
And I'm quite agreeable to give credit to Crinacle: while I honestly wrote in the KZ Zex Pro review that the earphones were frankly poorly tuned (whether through Crinacle's fault or not, I have no idea), RED is a completely different story. This is just an example of how to proceed from competence in the field of headphone measurements to successful headphone production.
I am not inclined to believe, of course, that this was a sole effort of Crinacle — everyone sang in harmony, both him and Truthear as the immediate manufacturer.
In general, everything is both clear and complicated about RED at the same time: these are earphones with a universal fit and eminently calibrated tuning, combining neutrality, detail, weight, dynamics and lack of listening fatigue in equal measure. Top it off, there is a 10-Ohm attenuator included for those who 'starve for the lower section'.
To buy or not to buy: to buy, at least just for the fun of learning what kind of tuning is this!

2024.05.16 23:50 PF_Throwaway98 (USA) Looking for some advice on my current financial situation. Can I afford a $650 car payment? (26)

My old Honda Civic is starting to bite the curb and I was recently quoted $4,000 to repair a bunch of things in it. Since it's close to 150,000 miles, I'm thinking of just getting my first new car instead. I broke down all of my costs and my current financial situation, and I'd really appreciate any feedback.
Here's a basic breakdown of my income & expenses:
Income
Investing & Savings
Expenses
After my expenses & investments/savings, I have about $2,330 left for everything else.
The car I'm looking to get is a 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited, with $8,000 downpayment and the dealership 3.99% APR, I'd be looking at a $650 car payment with a $130 car insurance payment, which would bring my take home down to $1550. Is this a smart move? Are my finances okay in general?
Willing to answer any and all questions and would love any and all advice, thank you!

2024.05.16 23:47 Brian_In_Chicago N-400 Timeline and Ceremony Details (Chicago)

Hi everyone - I used this sub to track down some information related to my N-400 application, and wanted to make sure I shared my timeline in case others may find it helpful.
3/4/24 - Submitted my N-400 application 3/4/24 - Notified of the biometric re-use 3/11/24 - Interview scheduled 4/29/24 - Interview/recommendation for approval/placed in line for oath ceremony 4/30/24 - Oath ceremony scheduled 5/16/24 - Oath ceremony
This was all through the Chicago office.
Interview was probably 25-30 minutes, of which 10 of that was spent answering questions and the tests. Most of the time the agent was completing paperwork on their computer, and trying to get around a glitch in the system.
Oath ceremony was today. 12:30 appointment time. 98 people from 32 countries. I'm sure it might be different from time to time, but the event went down like this. Elevator to the 25th floor and met at the courtroom by an employee. Guests asked to wait outside, 'candidates' allowed inside and sat down on one side of the room. One of the people would send row by row of people to get in line at the front of the courtroom; that line led to 3 USCIS employees. One checked me off a list and took my green card. Person in the middle took my paperwork and confirmed it was all there (for me that was my letter and the form for the day of attesting that I'm still not a habitual drunkard). Last person got my certificate and asked me to check the photo, name, country of birth, and birth date. Then asked to sit down in another section of the courtroom while everyone went through that process. This went from 12:30 until 1:15. At 1:15 they allowed guests in the room. Judge entered around 1:35 or so. USCIS agent addressed the court on everyone's behalf for the applications, judge accepted the order, and we're asked to stand and take the oath. We all sit down and the judge spent maybe 7-10 minutes talking through her family's immigration story and the roles and responsibilities of being American. I appreciated the fact it was sincere and not boilerplate. Judge left the room, USCIS employees handed out certificates.
There were some people there to take your completed voter registration application if you wanted. A lot of people mingled and you could go down a few floors for photos.
They asked several times at the beginning of the proceedings, and signs were posted outside the courtroom, that no photos or videos were allowed. All the new citizens complied but there were a handful of guests that did not. You could tell the USCIS employees were bothered by this but they didn't say anything.

2024.05.16 23:46 AToyotaGasPedal What natural numbers really are?

Hello Mathematicians!
I am starting to study Analysis I all over again. I am reading the book Analysis I by Terence Tao.
I don't quite understand what the natural numbers really are, in what sense?
If to prove that 5 is a natural number, you use Axiom:
1 := 0++
2 := 1++
3 := 2++
4 := 3++
5 := 4++
What does it mean in all this? I understand what he wants to explain to me, but he still doesn't answer the question what a natural number really is.
I am kinda a noob, so excuse me if I get something wrong....

2024.05.16 23:43 K1NGST0NKS $FFIE NEWS - for NEWBIES

Prior to this week, Faraday Future Intelligent Electric (NASDAQ:FFIE) spent the past six months falling from more than $1.50 per share to 4 cents. But as the Roaring Kitty rally created a new meme stock surge earlier this week, FFIE stock began to soar. And unlike its meme stock peers, it still has yet to come back down.
Today FFIE stock pushed past $1 per share and looks primed to continue rising, with shares up 2,700% over the past five trading days.
For the third consecutive day, Faraday Future is making steady progress, passing the $1 mark for the first time since December 2023. FFIE stock is up 60% so far in Thursday trading.
As noted, the meme stock rally sparked by a tweet from influencer Keith Gill (known as Roaring Kitty on social media) seems to have fizzled out. GameStop is down 24% today and AMC is down 15%.
On Tuesday, InvestorPlace writer William White posed an important question: Is a giant short squeeze brewing in Faraday Future? As of now, the answer seems to be a resounding yes. Data from Fintel shows that more than 95% of the stock’s float is sold short. This definitely sets the stage for a short squeeze that could take shares even higher

2024.05.16 23:43 xXxPixlesxXx I have a viewing today. Do I dress business casual?

I have a voucher and I am looking at 2 units today which accept section 8. My worker says I can wear whatever I want.
Thing is, I'm Autistic which means I cannot pass an interview to save my life. Neurotypicals instinctively think there is something wrong with Autistic people even just hearing their voice or seeing them move within a split second. They won't know it is Autism, just that something is off and feel perturbed.
Also, I am not even allowed to apply for these units until the viewing. So it's basically an interview and then they can ask disqualifying questions and then make things up to keep me from applying, correct?
Also, how do I answer the income question. Every landlord so far wants me to make $6k per month after taxes even WITH a voucher. That comes out to about $100k per year as an employee or $120k per year as an independent contractor for a $2k per month unit.
My voucher is with $2407 and these units are only $2100. One unit is utilities included. Another one is not. My voucher covers at least 4 years of rent increases. It literally covers everything for one unit and the entire rent for another. My income should not matter, but here we are.
How do I answer questions about income? I have Autism and am disabled. I was determined by The Regional Center to be economically disabled. I make less than $500 per month, and I am at least a year out on getting disability, but I get back pay back to 2021 if/when I do. I also have about $15k held in a trust from a settlement.
What they don't know is that I blew through $20k in 3 years, but that is because I literally have not had employment since 2021 because Autism and the only jobs I could get without having an interview disappearing during the pandemic. Like I said, I am socially disabled. I cannot pass an interview due to my disability and this viewing is basically an interview from what I am hearing. What do I do?
And how do I answer or skirt around questions? I am socially disabled and in practice interviews I say the wrong thing by answering the question, I say too much, or I fall into interviewers' trick questions...

2024.05.16 23:41 NikitaWolf6 Is your loved one a narcissist?

Taken from my profile post as crossposting from NSFW marked accounts is not allowed (post does not include NSFW content)

.
Hi! Your friendly neighbourhood narc & BSc psychology student here. Are you ready for a change? (This article was written with NPD and NPD traits in mind but many of the same things apply to different disorders.)
If you are reading this, you have likely been sent here because you have enquired about the diagnosis of a loved one. This guide will help you with your question and to deal with the situation at hand, so strap in.
(Now this next line will upset you, but remember to continue reading afterwards.) No one but a qualified mental health professional that your loved one is being treated by can diagnose them. Not random strangers on Reddit with no qualifications. Not qualified mental health professionals that are not treating them as it is against their ethical code for good reason (see The Goldwater rule in Section 7 in the American Psychiatric Association's Principles of Medical Ethics). And lastly, not you.

Why can I not receive a diagnosis for my loved one?

  1. We/you are only seeing your description of your loved one which may differ from their own experience.
  2. You are biased because you have a dual relationship clouding your objective view.
  3. Non-verbal communication can also be used in the diagnostic process which is not available.
  4. Diagnostics need, at the very least, 2h time, with a SCID-5-P(D) or similar to test the loved one.
  5. Your loved one does not have the legal support etc. that comes with an official clinician-client relationship.
  6. Your loved one has not consented to any medical treatment.
  7. Our own experiences can differ wildly from those with the same disorder.
  8. There are nuances such as differential diagnosis and physical health problems that cannot be explored.
  9. Most people simply are not qualified to give a diagnosis.
  10. Those who are licensed to diagnose may lose their license if they do so.
All these things (and more!) make any possible diagnosis incredibly inaccurate and most likely incorrect. It is also highly unethical. The good thing however - this does not matter for your needs! (and if u disagree, just keep reading, trust me.)
Now you're possibly frustrated, possibly just confused. "But you said you would help with my question and help me deal with the situation!". I am aware that so far you have not gotten the answers you are looking for. Let me explain to you why a diagnosis is not necessary for you to get your needs in this situation met.

Why diagnosing a loved one isn't necessary for your needs!

Diagnoses serve a great purpose. I will not deny that. Diagnoses are used for research, treatment, insurance purposes and to get accommodations with. In relationships, diagnoses do not carry this same importance. Yes, understanding a diagnosis may help you better understand your loved one. But if you have been sent here, the chance is incredibly big that your lack of understanding is not the issue.
The issue is a pattern of behaviours that your loved one displays. These behaviours are causing you distress that you are seeking to eliminate. You are trying to find a label for them to help you understand and better deal with them, which is understandable as humans like working in predictable boxes. This is why we have stereotypes and work in schema's. You may think that once you understand their issues, their symptoms, their thought patterns, you can adapt to make them better. Or you would be understanding enough to suffer the situation. But this is not the case.
Even if the armchair diagnosis is correct, the individual experience will always differ. You can read and read and read, understand the disorder inside out, and still not understand your loved one. And not only that, but changing your own behaviour in accordance with their symptoms will not make the situation any better. It will simply make you compliant to their toxic behaviours and the issues will persist as there has been no treatment for the core of the problems.
Even if you simply want to know whether they have a disorder so you could support them better, it will not bring the improvement you are hoping for. You will need to act according to their needs, not their disorder. Some with NPD might want a lot of admiration so they don't end up collapsing. Others do not need this, but need understanding for their lack of empathy. Some others may have empathy but struggle with being seen as arrogant by others. Not all of our needs will be universal so communication with your loved one is necessary to make sure that you are providing them with what they need or want. This does not necessitate a diagnosis, simply good communication. A big risk that comes with this however, is that you may end up neglecting your own needs in favour of theirs. What can also happen is that this actually enables their maladaptive behaviours, as you are facilitating the behaviour to continue by giving them what they want instead of what they need.
Therefore, diagnosing a mental disorder in your loved one will not give you the resolve that you are looking for by posting about it on Reddit. Now there is just 1 lingering question.

What can I do to solve the issue?

Boundaries. At least, that is the answer most of the time. A lot of y'all are posting because you want your loved one to change. As much as I hope this for you too, we cannot make someone change. I am not a fan of religion or 12 step programs per se, however, keep the Serenity Prayer in mind:
"Grant me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
This prayer is the foundation of all boundaries. I will not go into too much detail as I will link the necessary resources below. They will explain everything in much more detail than I can in this post. However, let me give you a rundown of what healthy boundaries are! (This bit is loosely taken from Boundaries by Henry Cloud.)
First of all, you need to know what is you, and what is the other. Boundaries are like fences, and everyone has their own yard. To set boundaries it is crucial that you know what you do have control over, and what you don't. This is the "wisdom to know the difference" part.
Your loved one has their own yard, with their own fence. They own their own body, mind, space, behaviours, etc. That is their yard which they are protecting. This means that you cannot control these things. You cannot control someone by making demands, trying to change their mind (other than by a healthy logical discussion) or setting rules for them. Attempting to do so anyways will lead to frustration and disappointment. This refers to the "strength to accept the things I cannot change" part of the prayer. Now you might think, "So I just have to accept their hurtful behaviours?". And my answer to that would be yes. But not without nuance. You need to accept the reality of their behaviours. Because their existence is something you cannot change. However, this does not mean that you should accept the hurt it causes you.
That brings us to your own yard. You can use your fence to keep the hurt out. This may not stop the behaviours from existing, but it will make sure that they will not exist in your yard. A boundary you might set could be "If you continue to yell at me on the phone, I will hang up and not respond to calls back today". Another example is "If you do not stop throwing items through the room, I will go to my sister's house for the weekend". Most of the situations like yours end up in this one though: "If you do not seek help for your mental health issues, I will leave this relationship". And sometimes, that is the exact one that is needed. Notice that in none of these examples you are trying to control the person. You are giving them a choice to continue or to seize the behaviour, and explaining what you will do to keep yourself safe if they continue crossing your boundaries. This is the "courage to change the things I can".
However, boundaries are not everything. There is likely another underlying issue (or multiple) which is causing this situation. That's why I want to recommend these other things as well:
  1. Individual psychotherapy
  2. Couples therapy/marriage counselling
  3. Requesting your loved one to see a mental health professional (although if you're looking to diagnose them on the internet, this is likely not going to happen)
  4. Support groups (no, not the raisedbynarcissists or NarcissisticAbuse or narcissisticparents or any of those discriminative ones. you can look for C-PTSD support groups, domestic violence support groups, etc. etc.)
  5. CPS or police involvement when necessary
  6. The workbooks listed below

Books

Boundaries - Henry Cloud. This one is incredibly religion focused. it does advocate for child abuse at some point and it's very hetero- and cisnormative. Apart from that, it's quite a solid book.
Set Boundaries, Find Peace - Nedra Glover Tawwab. I havent read this one myself but it does demonise those with NPD a couple times. apart from that it's highly recommended.
Nonviolent Communication - Marshall Rosenberg. This one is good. It's more about healthy mutual communication, but it also explains requests and boundaries quite well. I find it might be a bit insensitive to those experiencing active abuse but all in all, this ones great and I highly recommend it.
codependent no more - Melody Beattie. This one I have not read either, I believe it's mostly about dealing with addiction in other people but it also has some boundary setting in there.
There are a lot of other workbooks that may help you that are not (yet) listed, so please take a look at my complete collection here.

More to consider

I put this at the end as usually it is the least useful part of my tirade, and can cause some very heated responses. I urge you to consider the damage you are doing to those with NPD when you armchair diagnose someone with NPD simply because of their toxic or abusive behaviours. Because this has been normalised in pop psychology, we are now disproportionally seen as abusers. People see others discuss narcissism and narcissists only in the contexts of abuse, and this causes them to think that is what NPD is. But it is not.
Not every person with NPD is abusive. Some toxicity can usually be expected in close relationships with those with NPD, but this does not have to be an overwhelming or dangerous amount. Think more, teenager who hasn't learnt emotional regulation and is very insecure yet tries to act all big and strong.
The stigma on NPD, which is perpetuated by armchair diagnosing abusers and other toxic people, directly rains down on those who actually suffer with the disorder. This is because a lot of people consume discriminative content (see "Dr." Ramani, raisedbynarcissists, etc.) and believe that the blanket statements made about narcissists are all correct. They then project these beliefs onto people who simply have NPD, a disorder, a disability. This leads to dehumanising or threatening comments, smear campaigns and cancellations simply over a disorder, unfair projection of trauma/abuser onto the person, etc. This is also considered emotional abuse as it is discrimination. More specifically saneism, which is a form of ableism. This can lead to trauma (small t trauma, usually) in the person receiving this unwarranted hate.

Questions?

Leave them in the comments of this post and I will get to them when I am able to. Feedback (constructive criticism and compliments alike) is also much appreciated!

2024.05.16 23:41 DarbonCrown Help with 1 ply/lamina composite

I'm trying to stimulate a series of models that involve a composite lamina subjected to a strain, in different finer orientation (or material orientation). The problem I have is that for 0 degree and 90 degree orientations, the values confirm data acquired via analytical method. However, for any orientation angle other than 0 and 90 the results are vay too far from analytical results (I'm talking about well over 60% error). I've tried different ways, some giving different answers than the other methods used, but all the answers are incorrect nonetheless.
The geometry is a 50mm*50mm that is stretched from one side (x direction) by 0.05mm (which I define via boundary conditions). Here are what I've done differently in each attempt: 1) shell analysis, defining material via "engineering constraints", using section to define a section, and assigning the section with a 30 degree angle. 2) shell analysis, defining material via engineering constraints, using assigning properties as "layered composite" for only 1 ply with 30 degree angle 3) shell analysis, defining material as lamina, using assigning properties as "layered composite" for only 1 ply with 30 degree angle 4) solid analysis, defining material via "engineering constraints", using section to define a section, and assigning the section with a 30 degree angle. 5) solid analysis, defining material via engineering constraints, using assigning properties as "layered composite" for only 1 ply with 30 degree angle
I've tried solving each one once using "static, general" and once using "static, linear perturbation".
I've also checked the material orientation both from the material orientation and another time via Query/ply stacking and in both methods the material orientation checks. Regardless, none of the results from the attempted solutions for 30 degree or any other angle matche that of analytical method.
I'd like to know if there're any other ways I should try, if there are anything I should double check, or if there're any do differently.
Thanks in advance.
p.s. I've also done a mesh independence study to see how the answer might change with different mesh sizing, and since the geometry and BCs are simply a mesh with 225 elements seems ideal. So I don't think if there's anything regarding meshing.

2024.05.16 23:41 Easy-Promotion-3479 AITAH for not wanting to attend my daughters engagement party

Last summer, my daughter’s boyfriend of 3 years asked permission to marry my daughter. She is 24 years old and just completed graduate school. Boyfriend just finished graduate school and has a steady job.
My husband said no. While we aren’t the biggest fans of the boyfriend, the sole reason for saying no is because we do not feel like our daughter is ready to be married. She doesn’t take care of herself, she refused to find a job for a long time, relying on us or the boyfriend to fully support her during graduate school. She did eventually find a job but worked the bare minimum hours. She is immature and in our opinion not ready to be married. We realize that’s our opinion, she is an adult and can do what she wants, but they asked for permission and we gave an honest answer.
They left our house angry and did not speak to us for several weeks. Finally my daughter expressed her disappointment that we said no, and we explained our reasons. We were fully aware they would probably get engaged anyway and that’s fine. We did suggest they wait a year and give my daughter time to get established after graduating.
They got engaged. And to their credit they did make changes. They took over paying their rent fully. My daughter took out a loan for the remainder of her tuition. My daughter still did not pick up more hours, but the boyfriend put them on a budget and made it work. We recognize their effort.
Shortly after we were notified that they had gotten engaged. We were a little hurt that they went against our advice, but again they are adults and can make their own choices.
At that point the funding we were helping her with was medical bills.
As she has approached graduation, she has done the bare minimum to find a job, settling for a temp position. She expected to stay on our benefits even though her job offered her own. She has told people that we “cut her off financially”.
Last week I received an engagement party invite from my daughter’s friend. My daughter has not mentioned this party at all, including last weekend when we were all together for 3 days. This has done nothing but confirm my decision that she is immature and not ready for marriage.
AITAH for not wanting to attend? The party is 4 hours away in the middle of a Saturday. It would last 2-3 hours at most and then I would have to drive 4 hours home. I already had plans for the weekend it’s scheduled (baseball game tickets) and I feel like if my daughter isn’t mature enough to tell me directly about the party, I shouldn’t attend and give the impression I support her getting married at this time.
I would RSVP no to the hostess and leave it at that.
I am willing and would like to have a discussion with my daughter about this especially considering the next event would be a wedding, but previous attempts have shown she is not receptive to having that discussion at this time. She basically told me we should have said yes regardless of our opinion.
So, AITAH?

2024.05.16 23:38 Dreadsin Why don’t we just build more housing?

I always hear stats about being 1-4 million units short in America. Looking at my own city, I don’t see much on the market
So why not just like… build more? What’s actually stopping us?

2024.05.16 23:37 thywillbedone116 Looking for a New Travel Card

I never really paid attention to waht cards I have to optimize my money (be it rewards or cashback), but this site has helped me take this more into consideration and I am working on changing that. I typically travel 2-3 times a year (1 international, 1 domestic, 1 domestic/international) so I was leaning towards making my next card a travel card. Especially as I have a payment for a cruise coming up in August I have to pay for that should basically guarantee I get the subs.
I am also open to just suggestions in general to optimize my "card portfolio" if you guys have any suggestions, but mostly leaning towards a Travel card.
