Before I elaborate I’m not trying to pull a “woe is me I have it worse than anyone” card but just explain what I mean and how transphobia has hurt women (cis, trans, intersex, EVERY WOMAN) rather than helped us Between random people deciding to “transvestigate” everyone (especially those of us who have masculine features- especially not Aryan features like stronger cheekbones), new laws about our bodies, how athletes are treated, how little girls are told they’re not equal to boys (or anyone originally born a boy who has come to realize they feel more themselves as a girl), false feminists, and more I feel more scared now than I have in years.
For starters, anyone with any feature seen as masculine gets falsely accused of being “a trans”. I used to not care if someone tried to use “looking trans” as an insult because there’s plenty of good looking trans women out there. But cis women have literally been killed (look up Michelle Dionne Peacock if you want an examples- rip to her) and thrown out of bathrooms for being accused of being trans. And very often when you try to tell these stories, people blame trans folk, as if it’s not the transphobia that killed them. Often the features dubbed “masculine” don’t fit the Aryan Eurocentric beauty standards and/or are the result of medical conditions. Whenever someone tries to insult me by saying I look masculine- the things they go after are- my cheekbones and the fact I’m thin.
I’m thin because I have chronic nausea and sometimes eating feels like torture. My cheekbones are from my (ethnically) Jewish side of the family. A few years ago both things were heavily desired, but since women’s bodies are nothing more than a trend, now the “master race” decides its ugly and that I must be lying about being cis as if I’m supposed to flash my vagina or bloody maxi pad to prove it. My friends with PCOS sometimes get facial hair and the comments to them are AWFUL.
Medical practices like taking estrogen are dilation are SUPER stigmatized now. I know cis women who take it because their hormones weren’t working right after menopause. Now they’re mocked. Dilation is mostly done by post surgery/pregnancy patients and sexual abuse victims. Dilators weren’t even spoken about five years ago because it was considered embarrassing to have vaginismus as women are just seen as fuck holes. Now anyone who uses it is mocked and reminded that in the eyes of both women and women we’ll never be anything more than a hole for someone to stick something into.
Transphobia has equated women to being nothing more than a vagina and a pair of “big enough” tits.
We’re telling little girls they can’t compete with boys despite the fact none have hit puberty and therefore there’s no advantage gender or sex wise. We used to say feminism was telling little girls they could do whatever the boys could do. Now we remind them we don’t think they’re good enough and call it equality. Recently a nine year old girl won a track game and the parents ACCUSED HER OF BEING TRANS BECAUSE THEIR DAUGHTER DIDNT WIN! They had to get her birth certificate! They’ve argued about tracking athletes periods! GET OUT OF OUR FUCKING VAGINAS!
They tried to pass a law that would make it legal for adults to inspect little girl’s genitals for gym class to prove they weren’t trans. AndONL THE GIRLS. But meanwhile any member of the LGBTQ is a Pedo for wanting to change their body or being in a relationship with a consenting adult. Did you know it’s more legal to have sex with a 14 year old in more countries than it is for two adults of the same sex to get married? Anti lgbtq laws have never been about protecting kids. If you look at most transphobes profiles for more than a few seconds they’re either sharing photos of random teen athlete buldges to mock them for being trans; talking about how lucky underage male rape victims have it for being raped by their adult teacher, or asking women to show that they’re cis in hopes well posh titty photos.
I fucking hate transphobes. Y’all have made the world even worse for us cis women. I hope they choke on a tampon.
