- The protesters established their encampment on the Diag on April 22, following months of escalating disruptions to university operations – including the disruption of honors convocation and repeated disruptions of classes in academic buildings and study in university libraries.
- In late April and early May, individuals in the encampment replaced Diag bricks with concrete and painted over the Block M on the center of Diag. Spray paint graffiti was found on walkways, on the Michigan Union sign and on the fountain outside the League. These actions were not free speech; they were destruction of property.
- A protest outside the University of Michigan Museum of Art descended into violence on May 3. Participants in the encampment helped organize the protest and issued calls on social media for others to join them. Late in the evening, the crowd became unruly and converged in what can only be described as an assault on law enforcement officers. One person, who is not affiliated with the university, was arrested, and multiple police officers sustained minor injuries.
- While they did not occur on campus, the demonstrations that took place during the early morning hours of May 15 at the homes of several members of the U-M Board of Regents went well beyond the lawful exercise of free speech. Marching and chanting in the middle of the night outside private homes, posting demands on private property, and placing a burnt cradle and fake bloody body bags on the lawn of one regent amounted to vandalism and trespass, not protected expression. While the demonstrators wore masks to hide their identities, they made clear on social media that they were the leaders of the Diag encampment.

Hello,
Little background: Typical gifted kid -> sailed through middle and high school -> University was hard with courses like mathematical statistics and such -> Started learning more productive work processes and how to learn more effectively -> about to finish Master's with a golden job offer in quant finance.
I feel i have a hard time separating work and free time in my mind. I either always have work and productivity stuff in the back of my mind or i don't. If i don't have it in the back of my mind, i just do whatever i want which is fun up to a point. If i do have it in the back of my mind, i usually burn out after a certain point. An example of this was in the last semester of my Bachelor's:
I remember seeing some Dr. K videos about Vata personality (have more tings going on, switch between projects that last 6-12 months) and if feeling overwhelmed/burned out one should do more voluntarily, so i kind went hard: On top of two courses and Bachelor's project, i payed for two extra courses that were Master's level Machine Learning courses (not the basic ones), with a student job in data science, and a couple of mid-level coding projects on the side. I was almost always working, and even when i wasn't, i could not let go of work in my mind. When the whole ordeal was over, i was completely burned out, and when friends asked what i did over the summer, i remember telling them that i just slept for like three months.
I discovered that part of the reason i was so burned out, was because of coffee consumption, that ruined my sleep and made me feel horrible because of lack of sleep. I stopped drinking coffee, and now i find it hard to do stuff. I can work study and do achieve reasonable results, but not the same as before. Also, it is like after some initial motivation, i have to make myself stressed to keep working. This stress just kind of stays there in the back of my mind generating restless thought, reminding me of work, and messes up my sleep. I can meditate to release the stress but this takes like atleast an hour and only brings me back to baseline, and this is only right now. Can't imagine if i have a very stressful 9-6 quant job.
What annoys me is the inability to relax and just be present when i am done working. I have friends, who after a hard day of being productive in whatever, are just able to let it go and do whatever. Go to social events, do a fun activity, get their hunting license, or even just veg out watching Netflix without a care in the world. I just have this ball of stress, which can only be released if i meditate for an hour, but if i am productive for 8-10 hours, and go out to a park and meditate which can take 1.5 hours, then i am exhausted and don't have alot of time to do anything, before the cycle starts again tomorrow. Kind of like there is a part of me that needs some kind of stimulation, and i do stuff like pomodoro to appease this part of myself while working, but i still need more when i am done and i can't get enough. This consistently leads to burnout.
Part of it is probably that i don't acknowledge the things i do, there is always just the next thing. I don't know, what do you guys think?

here is what i mean by i'm a "semi-antinatalist." i believe that our culture where everyone is pressured to have kids and people procreate without any serious thought or consideration is extremely irresponsible. people don't do any work on themselves to heal and become better people and they end up passing all of their generational trauma onto their children, who then end up suffering and passing it on to their children. most people are unfit to be healthy parents and the thoughtless pressure for everyone to have children regardless of whether or not they're prepared should be challenged.
humanity is causing an incomprehensible amount of suffering to innocent, vulnerable beings, like the hundreds of billions of animals who are abused and slaughtered every year and the millions of children in abusive households, forced labor, and human trafficking. i believe that humanity is due for some serious retribution and we deserve to have modern society collapse and for the population to significantly lower. i don't just want people to stop reproducing so that this suffering is phased out, i want something drastic to happen to bring an end to the atrocities going on as soon as possible. i wish it weren't that way, but to me it's about protecting the victims of humanity.
where i depart from antinatalist views is that i don't want humanity to be completely extinguished. humanity has been through so much, an unbelievable amount, and while most people might be either bad or lukewarm (which isn't any better), there are good people out there. do you have any idea the amount of effort and the sacrifices that have been made for humanity to get this far? i know you might say, well what's the point? the point is not what we achieve on this planet. it's not the pleasures of our daily lives or the physical achievements we see in the world. it's what we're gaining within. it's the experiences we're having, the memories we're gaining and the lessons we're learning about ourselves and others. this is my perspective at least.

He are starting with a perception, we postulate that the Soul is a person, and has to do with decision making and identity, and given scripture, and various media or cultural references of The Soul, we may be able to see if we are right, and a bigger picture.
Given you understand what The Soul is in the Bible, someone may begin to understand exorcism. They may understand Identity Politics, and what it actually is in spiritual warfare. They may come out with greater understanding of creation and God.

A couple years ago I lived in walking distance from Duke University. Given someone was a Duke fan, or Duke Alumni, or had a lot of Duke Paraphernalia, they may have loved Duke University. How did they love Duke University? They loved Duke with their Soul or Identity. Someone with a Duke T-Shirt may be saying something about who he is, or was, or would like to be. When Duke wins or has done well in basketball, someone who loved Duke with their Soul or identity, they may have rejoiced? They felt good? In their soul, they rejoice, and feel a sense of happiness. I'm in my mid thirties, single, and have been in the office work force almost full-time since 2009, when I took my first full-time job after college. So far I'd say I've prioritized other things in life instead of investing and saving, and am a total investing/personal finance rookie, but I have been contributing pretty regularly to the 401Ks I've had with different employers. I feel I am doing OK overall in saving toward retirement through those accounts.
Where I feel quite behind is in accumulating savings that can be used toward one or more big-ticket items in the nearer term, specifically buying a decent house, which I'd like to be able to do in about 10 years' time and currently have almost no liquid savings toward. (I live in one of the most expensive cities in the U.S. now, might move somewhere *slightly* smaller if stars align personally and professionally, but probably won't be going anywhere that has real estate anyone would consider "cheap".) My goal is to have $200K in relatively liquid funds to make a down payment on a house in 10 years' time, which is the main purpose for the investment strategy that I'm posting below. I plan to start with a small investment of about $5K now into something like the fund below (that's the spare cash I have for this right now), which I will monitor for performance and keep contributing to each month afterward. I know, it's a heavy lift to get from here to there.
With this in mind, I'd love everyone's thoughts on the mix of stock and bond ETFs below. I'm targeting 70% stocks and 30% bonds now (see the fine print under "Goal 1" below for more on this) but could be persuaded that a different mix is right for my goal of buying a house (My 401K investments are a little more conservative than this in their allocation, about 60-40.) I've highlighted the ETF in each class below that seems like the best option to me based on the limited data I've gathered, using Fidelity (also the platform that generated the basis for this investment plan via its "ETF Portfolio Builder," and the platform I think I will use to purchase the ETFs). I'm all for your takes on which of these ETFs seem best, any others I'm missing, whole classes of investments that you think I should be considering, etc. For example, do you see an advantage to picking ETFs across sectors as I have below, vs. just setting up an even more automated target-date account?
I could also use everyone's thoughts on the idea of putting money into a stock-heavy mix of investments RIGHT NOW, with the stock market at historic highs (but probably not done climbing), conflicts underway around the world, a crazy presidential election coming up in November, etc. People say not to try to time the market, but... should I wait until the market cools off a bit or takes a dip before jumping in?

Please include a variety of topics such as animals, space, fairy tales, everyday heroes like firefighters and doctors, seasons, and important life skills like sharing and kindness. Each rhyme should be catchy, easy to understand for young children, and incorporate fun facts or moral lessons where applicable. Feel free to introduce imaginative characters and vibrant settings to make the rhymes more engaging.
You have 10 poems now. Go to Suno .com and create an account, you can use google. Now from the create page, select “Custom Mode”. Copy paste one the the lyrics/rhymes. For style of music I used, “children rhymes song”. Give a title and click on “Create”. The results are surprisingly good! Download the audio.
On to the last step. Go to adobe express. From dashboard go to animate from audio or just search on google, “adobe animate from audio”. Select a character and background. Upload the sound file. Wait till the video is generated. You have your rhymes video ready. This takes like 5-10 minutes only for the whole process.
