Help needed to optimize supplement approach with regard to my genetic profile (a lot of info included!)
Key question for my fellow Reddit users (in hope Tawinn reads my post):
  1. What are your thoughts on my "6 Changes to my supplement approach/plan"? Would this be the way to go? Did i overlook something?
  2. In his book "Dirty Genes" Ben lynch calls the "Choline shortcut" a temporary solution on which one can't rely permanently. He says that in contrast your primary methylation cycle supports all organs and tissues including your brain (while the choline shortcut would only be there to protect the liver and kidneys). This is kind of confusing to me as on this forum and Chris Masterjohn don't seem to see this as a temporary fix?
Table of contents:
  1. Symptoms
  2. Lab testresults
  3. Current supplementlist
  4. Family conditions
  5. Whole background story
  6. Changes to my suppplement approach/plan taking into account my mthfgene profile
1.SYMPTOMS
My background (38Y/male):
  • Experienced a lot of traumatic life events especially during childhood.
  • Got diagnosed ADD (inattentive form of ADHD) and get presribed ritalin since 15 years.
  • Experienced a lot of stress and had a partial burnout a couple of years ago.
Since the summer of 2022 (after having corona) i started having weird symptoms like:
  • Brain fog (literally asking the same question within 30 min, not remembering names and even the names of my wife's friends and neighbors, sometimes it felt like a little door was locked and after 3 minutes i could finally call their names). The brain fog does seem to be like 50% less than a year ago tough.
  • Raynauld’s disease
  • Chilblains and feet (extreme, even getting cuts in my hands, even during summer months). My fingers typically become like a bit swollen red.
  • Problems tolerating temperature changes (I even got red finger tips in summer and have trouble tolerating hot weather as well).
  • Tinnitus
  • Anxiety, depression, and mood swings
  • Concentration issues (my mind is like a pinball machine)
  • Motivation problems (procrastination etc.)
  • Seborrheic eczema (got shampoo from the doc)
  • Insomnia (although i can manage it somehow by focusing not to think about anything)
  • Going to the toilet multiple times at night (feel like I’m 80 instead of 38)
  • Fatigue all day
  • Hair loss, basically lost more in the last 3 years than the prior 10. I also got my first grey hairs in my beard.
  • Had 2 low grade dental infections of which 1 is already treated in March (by extraction) and 1 is going to be treated tomorrow, had the both of them for a minimum of 3 years.
No patience with the kids (i hate this), I feel so exhausted that around 10 every morning my energytank for the day is kind of depleted. As I work behind a computer the energy issues is not really needed for work but I hate it in family life (I just want to be able to play ball with my kids).
~Personal most important symptoms I wish to tackle (if I was a magician):~ ADD(motivation/concentration) + Fatigue all day
2.LAB TESTRESULTS

4.FAMILY CONDITIONS (might be related):
Both blood lines have/had vein related problems (plague in the arteries). My granddad even got severe dementia from it.
One blood line (mothers side) has also severe mental problems (bipolaADD/depression) in multiple/every generation, my great grandfather committed suicide.
5.WHOLE BACKGROUND STORY:
I became extremely worried since September 2022. Before that time i had been fighting motivation, procastination and concentration issues all my life (as a typical ADD guy) I was thinking about really bad conditions like a brain tumor, Multiple Sclerosis etc. I got my blood checked and even got brain and neck scanned with an MRI and everything seemed to be fine except for T2 flair hyperintense signal abnormalities (vein related. Still, my symptoms got worse.
Besides this i was doing a neurofeedback course under supervision of a neuropsychologist. He did a EEG in June of 2022 and also did one in the beginning of may 2023. After reading the results of the EEG from may he was shocked, my EEG levels were way worse than they were a year before. He asked me if i was depressed or had an underlying condition. He said i needed to be checked for systematic conditions.
In February of 2023 i went to a Wim Hof workshop (cold bath) and somebody there talked about water fasting that would trigger autogaphy. Being as desperate as i was/am after the last EEG results i decided to do a 7 day water fast in may (having two children of 2 and 4 this is not something you'll decide overnight).
After the water fast i felt tired but in a way "in control". My ritalin usage was reduced in a year from 35 mg a day to 12,5mg a day but that might be due to placebo as well. As i was reading the book "Super Gut" (by Dr. William Davis) i decided to try some herbal antibiotics for SIBO/SIFO, following his prescribed protocol of taking Antibactin-AR and Antibactin-BR twice a day. Besides that i was eating a very strict diet focusing on low glycemic index foods, no gluten and no lactose (as I was suffering from bloating as well and in the end dysbiosis was confirmed by a functional doctor).
Within a couple of days my mind felt much more clear, i could concentrate and the brain fog almost disappeared. From then on i went tot about 7,5mg a day of ritalin (practically nothing). I even cancelled my appointment with a neurologist as i was so confident that it had nothing to do with my brain anymore but rather with my belly!
But time seemed to catch up with me. I was basically eating a low carb diet and eating less just seemed to improve my symptoms. I went into a clinical path of finding out if I had coeliac disease (they did a endoscopy). For that i had to eat gluten again for about 5 months and that raised my ritalin again to about 25mg/day but I found out I haven’t got coeliac disease (more non-celiac gluten sensitivity based on a stool test of my functional doc).
In December 2023 I decided to do a full range stool analysis via my functional doc (at a lab in Germany) and the results basically stated I had slight form of dysbiosis, problems with fat absorption, relatively low stomach acid and a relatively high TMAO (that’s the summary). I’ve been on a diet not eating any gluten/lactose since January and have had pre- and probiotics with it. I feel I can’t eat healthier than this and even feel somewhat down sometimes as my “extravert” side kind of left since not eating any sugars (I do watch my calorie intake to be enough).
Over the past years I’ve read about 12 books that focus on the microbiome and how to fix it but somehow I keep being sensitive to fatty foods and I don’t seem to fully be able to fix my gut. Based on that (and the book Dirty Genes of Ben Lynch) I kind of wandered off into the realm of genes (as looking more to other factors contributing to my gut/mental issues). I did a whole genome sequence in November 2023 and just got the results in. Believe it or not, this is basically 10% of the story, there's a lot more to it in that i could probably write a book about it but i don't want to be a burden on anyone's time here. I really hope there's somebody here that has a clue what's going on (i've heared mast cell activation syndrome might be it).
6.CHANGES TO MY SUPPLEMENT APPROACH/PLAN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT MY MTHFGENE PROFILE:
All based on the post and recommendations made in this post:
MTHFR: A Supplement Stack Approach :
MTHFR, COMT and MAO-A: A Symptom Triumvirate :
Phase 1 – B12
Not B12 deficiency, might switch to hydroxocobalamin instead of methylcobalamin.
Phase 2 – B2
Target = B2 10-100mg/day,
Current = B2 (riboflavin-5-phosphate) 3.6 mg,
Action = Take >6,4 mg extra of B2.
Phase 3 – Methyl-Buffering System
Target = Glycine 3-10g/day
Current = 450mg/day
Action = Tale >2,5g extra of Glycine
Iron/Vitamin A I get via the multisupplement
Phase 4 – Reduce creatine demand on methylation
Target = 3-5g/day
Current = 3,5g/day (since 1 week)
Action = None (might focus on glycine as I do have to pee multiple times a night)
Phase 5 – Support alternate methylation pathway and reduce phosphatidylcholine demand on methylation
Target = 1000-1200mg/day (need 8 eggs a day via the Choline calculator)
Current = 120mg/day (via multisupplement)
Action =
50% via TMG and thus 600mg/day (powdecapsules)
Phosphatidyl Choline 2g/day
CDP Choline 1,5g/day
I prefer choline versions that don’t have a risk/lowest risk in increasing TMAO because of my high TMAO and genetic disposition to have artery plague/problems.
Phase 6 – Folate intake
It’s in my multivitamin supplement but not necessary, I guess.
Thank you for reading this long post.

2024.04.24 21:20 t0kidoki Breaking Down the Mega Man Legacy Collections: Ranking 1 to 11 from Least to Most Enjoyed

Thanks to PS+ having the Legacy Collections, 11 and unemployment giving me depression free time I decided to play every Megaman game from the classic series, . I'll go from least favorite to favorite mentioning the order played and if it was my first time playing them as some were first ever playthrough, other I haven't replayed in years and a couple I do revisit from time to time.

Order from Least Enjoyed to Most Enjoyed

Often referred to as the hardest classic Megaman it really lives up to the name, lots of insta-kills, leaps of faith, mashy mini-bosses, no slide or charge shot, complete reliance on Concrete shot and having to pause to change sup-weapons. It was a miserable experience after 7, I really was asking myself if Megaman games were always this hard, that if I did enjoy them or it was just my nostalgia. I tried to replay it after finishing all others because maybe it was a skill issue, but no, I still felt many areas were cheap and unless you've played them before you can't react to things or are given no cue of a pit or something being instakill *Coughgalaxymanandmagmamanstagecough*

Was Freeze Man's stage always this hard? Was Freeze Man himself always hard? Why does the Megabuster SUCK? Why does every power up suck? Also, the status of the Wily Capsule being bonkers difficult is true. I remembered the game fondly because of the artstyle and it was my main reason to replay the legacy collection but lemons doing 1 damage, the insane knockback and precision for Rush Search since I did 100% the run were just not fun. Junk Shield was the MVP of the run

From the toughest to the easiest, I did have to search were the letter was on Stone Man's stage and screwed up boss weakness order by going there with Gyro Man's weapon, but it was still a first try kill with buster only. Boss weapons suck and the difficulty was a breeze after 9, I had fun but it was just there, this one didn't do anything remarkable.

Game was charming for a first entry and I did try to put myself in the mindset of someone seeing the franchise for the first time, it had memorable music, stages and ideas, I'd definitevely would've picked up Mega Man 2 on release day, being blown away that there are now EIGHT robot masters instead of 6 and every screen has something, not just some platforms to jump on. The only downside? The Legacy Collection removes the pause glitch. HAVE YOU TRIED TO BEAT THE YELLOW DEVIL IN A LEGIT WAY? 0/10 not recommended.

LEMONS DO HOW MUCH DAMAGE TO SHADOW MAN? No problem, I'll go to Snake Man since that was his weakness... IT WASN'T? WHAT WAS IT... F'ING TOP SPIN?!?!! Yeah, I did not enjoy this at first, since it was at the middle of the playthrough I remembered I did Magnet Man first as a kid and Speedruns start Gemini Man for a reason. I do like the idea of the Darkloids copying past game bosses and having past stages with new challenges that force you to use previous weapons (this will be a recurring positive) but Legacy Collection does the if you die you don't get weapon energy or drops back, softlocking Clash Man's stage if you screw up. I finished this one at 3 am because it just kept going. I remember really liking this one as a kid and while I do appreciate introducing the slide and Protoman, it really REALLY shows it was rushed into production and release. Me not remembering the boss weakness order really hurt the experience, as it went from lemons doing 1 damage to 2-shotting bosses in the refights. Music is dope tho

Joke's on you! Since I played the game on my Vita a lot I can do both Mega Ball jumps and Wily 1's JUMP JUMP SLIDE SLIDE first time, every ti... *Gets game over*. Huh? So the famous Legacy Collectioni input lag is real. I like 8, even enjoy the campy voice acting, Sword Man's stage using the 4 past weapons to advance is PEAK design and should be revisited but I also think it made some dumb decisions, selecting 4 robot masters is not the way to go, not having E-Tanks, instead having that wierd Rush dropping items thing made Wily stages unnecesarily difficult and the music from Megaman&Bass is sooo much better for the recycled stages and boss themes. If the franchise had gone this direction I wouldn't be happy.

Ohh, how the mighty have fallen. Had you asked me what my fav classic Mega Man was before doing this playthroughs I would've said 4. It's the first game with the full kit: slide, charge, Rush; Pharaoh Man is still GOAT Man (different than Sheep Man), it did the "Wily is not the villain" trope first, everything, but after replaying it's... just ok. Bright Man's stage and music are very VERY bad and it was the first time I'd notice I've been only using the Charged buster, since boss weapons are really not THAT useful. The balloon and Wire are outclassed by Rush Jet unless you're trying to do speedrun strats which I do know because I played the game A LOT, even on the 3DS, but playing it alongside the other ones it really doesn't hold up as much as I wanted.

This was more enjoyable than I had expected, some boss weapons are a bit samey and while the idea of a worldwide robot tournament is fun as a backdrop for a story it had a bit too many Wily stages due to Mr. X "plotline". Rush Adapters were fun, having multiple routes and collectibles had me replaying stages just for fun. Bosses are on the easy side but ooze with personality, especially Knight and Yamato Man. Sprites and backgrounds look better than 9 and arguably 10, this was the last game I played in the Legacy Collections and it really left a good taste in my mouth.

Iconic music, stages, boss designs, the most broken Boss Weapon ever and everything everyone knows. Mega Man 2 is good ok? I didn't abuse Metal Blade as I know that would cheapen the experience as this one is on the harder side without it, but it did feel a blend of hard-fair. It's Mega man 2, it's many people's favorite for a reason but it isn't mine because it lacks some things my favorites learned from and improved.

If the franchise goes forward, I want it to be like this. Not 8-bit, the best 3D model, voice acting that actually sounds like Mega Man, quickswapping weapons that also have a visual change on Mega, having a Blast Man glow-up from BATTLE NETWORK 6, a gimmick that doesn't need to be in the next game (Dr. Light says the Double Gear System is dangerous so we could swap it for a new gimmick in 12), boss mini cutscenes and dialogue give them A LOT of personality, while at the same time, ALL of their weapons are useful, pushing the game to it's limits and most importantly Rush Jet and RUSH COIL, which I yell out from time to time, have their own dedicated button.
Seriously, go watch a speedrun on MM11 and see that every weapon is used, in some instances quickswapping and adding power or speed gear effects in seconds, then switching to Rush for movement without going into a pause screen. THIS is how Mega Man should be in future entries fast paced run&gun action that has a challenging floor but incredibly high skill ceiling. I love everything about MM11, but I do think it gets edged out by the final entry on 2 things: you're encouraged to do Impact first always and it doesn't encourage somehting like the next and final game.

Take everything I said about 2 and 11, BANGER soundtrack, useful hotswappable weapons that get used to their full potential on a speedrun, fair difficulty without cheap instakills then, take my positives on 3, (fighting past bosses with current weapons) 6, (Branching Paths) and learning from mistakes, like not extending the game too much, everything about about MM10 felt like a love letter to the franchise, even the gimmick of bosses not taking the most damage of being pelted by their weakness example, Nitro Man taking more damage from a grounded Chill Spike, but still being frozen by a direct hit, adds a layer of stategy, not just "go in, Metal Blade twice, WIN!" , except for Pump Man as Lightning Wool does at pleases, heck, speaking of that Sheep Man is not the stupidest design in the franchise, my vote goes to Clown Man or Star Man. I didn't mind having slide or charge shot as I didn't need them, with weapons dealing with different types of enemies and even vertical movement was solved by Nitro Wheel

10 also adds something that was lacking in the other games. Replayability. Bass campaing ROCKS and I trieeeed to finished 9 with Protoman but got bored halfway through, that didn't happen here, as the added challenge kept me engaged instead of crying bullshit for not doing a section perfectly. Again, branching paths and learning the best boss route, as speedruns don't follow boss weakness order, encouraged me to play again. Heck, even writing this now makes me boot my Playstation and play Mega Man 10 again and I do think that's something no other game does as much as this one.

If you read everything thank you. I'm just a fan that reconnected with one of their favorite franchises and is glad that it not only held up, but got new experiences from it.

2024.04.04 13:15 nikachic 4 days 10 hrs vape free. What’s helped me so far

I decided to quit on Saturday evening. My vape was starting to taste nasty so I ran it under the tap to kill the whole device completely.
Sunday was busy doing chores and running errands. Easter Monday I had my niece and nephew over. So for two days my activities were leisurely, no work, not a regular routine.
I take one capsule NAC (250mg I think) with vitaC (1000mg) each morning on an empty stomach. I heard this helps with cravings and flush out the nicotine. Drank lots of water and kept busy for most of the day. I did feel tired and napped on both days. Cravings were strong first two days and I felt lightheaded at times.
In the evening I’d take 200-400 mg of glutamine powder before bed. It’s suppose to help regulate blood sugar and it really helps me sleep. I’ve been sleeping pretty early each night so I don’t think about my cravings etc.
On Tuesday (day 3) I was wfh and it was my hardest day. I couldn’t focus or concentrate so I took a long nap instead.
Yesterday was my first full day at the office. I was very busy all day and didn’t have too many cravings. I also noticed that I didn’t get to eat until 6pm (had 3 clementines as a snack around 12:30pm) and I didn’t feel that bad.
I really do think the glutamine helps with levelling my blood sugar. In the past when I try to quit, I’m always wanting to eat something. But I’ve noticed this time I feel normal. Not excessively hungry. No low blood sugar dips, etc.
My resolve to stay quit gets stronger by the day. I’m starting to come out of the haze and see vaping for what it clearly is. I imagine myself vaping and feel disgusted and embarrassed at the thought of it. Grown adult sucking on a pacifier lol. Hopefully my post will help someone.

2024.03.30 03:38 WittyTable4731 Episode 25 of Strikers is in my opinion the highlights of every good thing about the franchise.

Episode 25 of Strikers is in my opinion the highlights of every good thing about the franchise.
Strikers is divisif among the fandom with good enough reason. How the genre change too much and other things.
That said it has in my opinion mayhaps the best episode of Nanoha if not top 3.
The others being the final of season 1( Nanoha and fate exchange or the movie version of Nanoha vs Fate) and episode 12 of A's were everyone vs Natchwal
This episode gather everything that is good about the franchise.
  1. The emotional stakes as mother and daughter are locked in battle with a timer. All while Vita is looking to destroy the engine.
  2. Nanoha blasting stuff. Just ask Quattro.
  3. The emotional catharsis of vita struggles to protect those dear to her and succeding after so much pain.
  4. The conversation between Nanoha and Vivio which perfectly capsulates the franchise theme. About family and that clones have a right to live and reaching out to people.
  5. The starlight breaker resulting in Adoption. Nanoha signature style.
  6. Resolution. While not the end. The time Nanoha and Vivio were apart is finally over. To the relief of the viewers.
Its my personal favorite episode of the franchise closing off a great endgame( Strikers endgame is pretty good all things considered) and i love it.

Known as the “golden spice,” turmeric has been used for centuries in traditional medicine and is now recognized for its numerous health benefits. In this article, we will explore 20 incredible benefits of turmeric and how it can enhance your overall health and vitality.

1. Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Turmeric contains a powerful compound called curcumin, which has potent anti-inflammatory effects. By reducing inflammation in the body, turmeric can help alleviate symptoms of chronic diseases such as arthritis, heart disease, and even certain types of cancer.

2. Boosts Immune System

The active compounds in turmeric have been shown to strengthen the immune system, making it more resilient against infections and diseases. Regular consumption of turmeric can help ward off common illnesses and keep your immune system in top shape.

3. Supports Digestive Health

Turmeric has long been used to aid digestion and promote a healthy gut. It stimulates the production of bile, which aids in the breakdown of fats and improves overall digestion. Incorporating turmeric into your diet can help alleviate digestive issues such as bloating, gas, and indigestion.

4. Natural Pain Relief

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric can be a natural alternative to over-the-counter pain medications. It can help alleviate pain and discomfort caused by conditions such as arthritis, muscle sprains, and migraines.

5. Promotes Heart Health

Studies have shown that turmeric can improve heart health by reducing cholesterol levels and preventing the buildup of plaque in the arteries. Regular consumption of turmeric can help lower the risk of heart disease and improve overall cardiovascular health.

6. Supports Brain Health

Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, has been found to have neuroprotective properties. It can cross the blood-brain barrier and help protect brain cells from damage, potentially reducing the risk of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

7. Enhances Mood and Mental Well-being

Turmeric has been found to have antidepressant and anti-anxiety effects. It can help boost serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain, promoting feelings of happiness and well-being. Adding turmeric to your daily routine may help improve your mood and overall mental health.

Turmeric can aid in weight loss by boosting metabolism and promoting fat burning. It can also help regulate blood sugar levels, reducing cravings and preventing overeating. Incorporating turmeric into a balanced diet and exercise routine can support healthy weight management.

9. Improves Skin Health

The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of turmeric make it a powerful ingredient for improving skin health. It can help reduce acne, lighten scars and dark spots, and promote a youthful and radiant complexion. Applying a turmeric face mask or using turmeric-infused skincare products can enhance your skin’s natural glow.

10. Boosts Liver Health

Turmeric has detoxifying properties that can help support liver function and promote liver health. It aids in the removal of toxins from the body and supports the regeneration of liver cells. Including turmeric in your diet can help keep your liver functioning optimally.

The anti-inflammatory effects of turmeric make it beneficial for maintaining joint health. It can help reduce pain, stiffness, and swelling associated with conditions such as arthritis. Regular consumption of turmeric or the use of turmeric supplements can support joint mobility and flexibility.

12. Improves Respiratory Health

Turmeric has been used in traditional medicine to treat respiratory conditions such as asthma and bronchitis. Its anti-inflammatory properties can help reduce inflammation in the airways and promote easier breathing. Adding turmeric to your diet or using it in herbal remedies can support respiratory health.

The antimicrobial properties of turmeric make it effective in promoting oral health. It can help prevent gum disease, reduce plaque buildup, and alleviate toothache and oral infections. Incorporating turmeric into your oral hygiene routine can support a healthy smile.

14. Supports Eye Health

Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, has been found to have beneficial effects on eye health. It can help prevent age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, and other eye conditions. Consuming turmeric regularly may help maintain good vision and overall eye health.

Turmeric has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels, making it beneficial for individuals with diabetes or those at risk of developing the condition. It can improve insulin sensitivity and reduce insulin resistance, helping to maintain stable blood sugar levels.

16. Anti-Cancer Properties

Studies have suggested that turmeric may have anti-cancer properties, particularly in preventing the growth and spread of cancer cells. Curcumin has been shown to inhibit the formation of tumors and induce apoptosis (cell death) in cancer cells. While more research is needed, incorporating turmeric into your diet may have potential cancer-fighting benefits.

17. Supports Healthy Aging

The antioxidant properties of turmeric can help protect against oxidative stress and cellular damage, which are key factors in the aging process. Regular consumption of turmeric may help slow down the aging process and promote healthy aging.

18. Boosts Metabolism

Turmeric has been found to boost metabolism, which can aid in weight loss and overall energy levels. A faster metabolism helps the body burn calories more efficiently, leading to increased energy and potential weight loss.

19. Reduces Allergy Symptoms

Turmeric has anti-allergic properties that can help alleviate allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and congestion. It can reduce the release of histamines, which are responsible for allergic reactions. Adding turmeric to your diet may provide relief from seasonal allergies.

20. Promotes Hair Health

2024.03.09 19:38 randomcards23 K2SE Epic Screwup Help!

Wow this is a doozy.
I am mid game K2SE finished 4 levels of space science just starting advanced science.
I spent hours setting up a beautiful second large vitamelange planet, my first one just had a little and would run out sooner than later. Took forever to clear and defend a large base and get solid production up and running. This was my 10th planet.
I kept seeing vita being slow and I was struggling on Nauvis to keep pace with rocket fuel, cargo rocket parts and capsules. This should have been a hint. I assumed I was just going through rockets fast since I was shipping vita nuggets home to nauvis which don’t stack great
So now that I have space elevator unlocked I was going to go back and set up an orbit base and convert shipments to spaceship using elevator to get up to orbit and a ship to shuttle between nauvis orbit and vita planet orbit.
So i hop in a cargo rocket to go to vita planet loaded up with goodies and I crash into a huge biter area outside my base…. What????
Load up a save and go back.
OMG… somehow for hours I never had the landing pad set and I’ve been shipping rockets fuel of fuel, cargo parts and capsules to this stinking planet. How I didn’t notice escaped me, I guess my old vita planet kept things going and my initial load to the new planet worked for the first few rockets.
Anyway so now I have many dozens - yes dozens of rockets full of super valuable parts strewn across this huge biter infested planet. Each of the dozens of crashed rockets has hundreds of stacks of stuff, it takes 3 trips by jet pack to retrieve one rocket worth.
This will take many hours to solve… any ideas how I can speed up this process? I can’t think of how to automate my way out of this self imposed nightmare!
What a dummy

2024.03.05 22:10 spacecrustaceans Black Maca, I'm really confused about dosage for libido, and what 10:1, 4:1, 8:1 etc all means.

I recently stumbled upon some conflicting information regarding black maca extract ratios in supplements and could really use some clarification. I've been looking into different maca supplements for their purported health benefits, but the varying extract ratios have left me scratching my head.
Here's the dilemma: I've come across three different products, each claiming to offer the best maca extract, but the numbers just don't seem to add up.
Now Foods, Maca boasts a 6:1 concentrate, with each capsule containing 750mg of gelatinized organic raw Maca Root, equivalent to 4,500mg of fresh Maca Root before concentration. - it says to take one capsule, one to two times daily.
NutraVita's Black Maca Root Complex 5000mg, on the other hand, seems to offer a blend of extract ratios. It provides 100mg from a 10:1 extract and an additional 40mg from a 100:1 extract. The equivalent amount of maca root before extraction is stated as 1000mg and 4000mg respectively. - it says to take 1 capsule a day
Then there's Bulk's Black Maca 4000mg, which presents a straightforward 8:1 extract ratio, offering 500mg of extract per capsule, equivalent to 4000mg of maca root before extraction. - it says to take 1-4 capsules a day.
Can someone please help me make sense of this? Am I missing something crucial in understanding how these ratios work? Or is there more to consider beyond just the numbers?
I'd greatly appreciate any insights or explanations you could offer. Thanks in advance for helping clear up this confusion! - I'm entirely unsure how I am supposed to dose these, and NutraVita seems a little deceptive... - Additionally, Examine.com states "The standard dose for maca is 1,500-3,000 mg. Maca can be supplemented by eating maca root or through a maca extract. Extracts should be water or ethyl acetate-based. Maca should be taken daily, alongside food."
