2024.05.14 15:48 ExpressNewspapers Mysterious and AGGRESSIVE itching

Hi everyone, the title is pretty much the core of the issue.
23, male, 180cm, 60kg, white pale complexion, smoker, no previous heart or circulatory condition, previous food-allergy related rashes and epileptic crises during high fevers as a kid (both no longer present).
I have been experiencing this for years now and I can’t seem to find any definitive solution. Not even my doctor could help me so I’m asking here in the hope someone recognises this or has some useful advice.
Long story short sometimes I get out of the shower or bath and as soon as my legs dry a little they start to itch. Itching restlessly and intensely as if someone was pinching me all over them. It usually lasts a few minutes and then progressively calms down, even tho it can last up to half an hour sometimes.
I know it doesn’t sound like much of a problem but I really can’t describe how terrible it feels with words. When it happens I feel helpless and like I could go mad, it’s a very intense sensation, sometimes I even slapped my legs hoping they would stop. Sometimes it starts making me shake
It feels obvious to say it but scratching only makes it worse and prolongs the torture.
On to the weirdness of this: I thought of every possible reason this happens and every possible remedy doesn’t help in the slightest and sometimes makes it worse.
I thought it was a skin sensitivity problem and I only use pharmacy’s shower oil to wash my body, nor do I use exfoliants chemical or physical (I wash myself with my bare hands and nothing more).
I thought it was a dryness problem so I tried multiple hydrating creams all with varying results from no effect to making the situation worse.
I thought it was an oil depletion problem so I applied sweet almond oil (which also should have calming effects on irritations) and it doesn’t do anything.
I thought it was a circulatory problem so I started wearing compression socks as some recommend (I don’t have varicose veins nor anything similar).
What is left on my list of ideas is a peripheral nervous problem and I really want to hope that is not the case.
I can’t see a correlation between the times it happens (as it’s not a regular appointment, thankfully) as it doesn’t matter if I shower or bathe, hot or cold, etc.
The additional useful information that I can tell you is:

2024.05.14 15:47 insecureatbest94 Non-board-certified surgeon question

So I’m trying to find a plastic surgeon that I’m comfortable dropping a couple hundred dollars for a consultation with. There’s a newer surgeon with very good reviews available that has a cheaper consultation than most, but since he only graduated from his fellowship last year he doesn’t have his FPS board certification, but does have his ABOHNS board certification. As far as I know, a surgeon has to practice for 2 years or something to qualify for FPS board certification.
He had a 5 year long residency for head and neck surgery and a year long fellowship with a couple well-respected facial plastic surgeons. Is it a bad idea to go with this guy? Should I only trust someone who has the FPS certification and way more experience? The only reason I’m considering is his consultation fee is cheaper and he has several great reviews.

2024.05.14 15:46 ThrowRA-8923 Thinking of financing a car and not sure what to do.

I (22F) live at home and my parents have set it up where I pay $400 to them to help with whatever bills come their way and $400 to contribute to my TFSA each month for "rent". Im lucky enough to not have to pay for a phone bill and the only expenses I do have are my own groceries (I live in an in-law suite so I have my own kitchen etc.) and my car insurance. I currently drive a 2014 Lincoln MKZ and spend an insane amount of money on gas each week ($100.00 to fill and a 11.6L/100KM fuel efficiency) and have had an astronomical amount of bad luck with repairs. Just recently it was $1000 to get a safety to switch it from my fathers name to my name and has required a rear differential, steering column and had multiple different problems with computers and boards and even to replace a lamp for my blinker was upwards of $500 because Lincoln has made it so hard to get at.
For a little more backstory I have been lucky enough to grow up in a pretty wealthy family but we dont like to flaunt it. My grandparents have always told me growing up "if you cant pay it in cash you cant afford it" and they have taken that and lived by it. So going to my father or grandparents for advise on how to not let the salesmen run me over and take advantage of a young girl at a dealership hasn't gone to plan. They keep trying to tell me it's a terrible idea and I will end up not making payments and it will be one of the dumbest things I can do this soon in life. They keep telling me I cant afford it and it will end up coming around and biting me in the ass and it will ruin my life.
The car I am looking to finance is a 2020 Ford Escape Titanium Hybrid. It will be MUCH better on gas (5.6L/100KM combined fuel efficiency) and the payments would be $233 biweekly for 5 years. I have looked into different loan options like a line of credit but the interest rates at other dealerships and bank loans are much higher as the Ford dealership is at 8.99%APR.
Im looking for some advise or insight on if its as bad as they keep making It out to be and if it will really be such a terrible idea. I have worked it out so I will still have a savings account I can regularly put money aside for repairs/emergencies and I have an old friend sending me $200 biweekly paying me back for money they borrowed (my family doesnt know about this)

Mud Flap Recommendations?
Just as the title says. Anyone have any mud flap recommendations? Got the Ford ones but found out they don’t fit with the Sasquatch package. Also just got the Rough Country running boards so I want to make sure whatever flaps I get will fit with the boards. Was thinking Gatorbacks but I see that have ones for with rock rails and ones without? Any ideas would be appreciated!! 2023 Bronco Big Bend Sasquatch Package

2024.05.14 15:33 Arnphoto Thank you Julia!

Checked in on 5/13 for my flight the next day to DFW. No precheck on boarding pass. Spend about 15 minutes with Delta texting back and forth…they don’t know why…everything on my Delta profile is correct….must be on TSA end. Spend 4 hours texting with TSA…they verify everything…no idea what the problem is. TSA suggests going to counter in the AM, and seeing if an agent can uncheck me in, and recheck me in….it should reverify and add precheck to the boarding pass. I get to LGA 3 hours ahead of time, explain everything to Julia at the check in desk. She looks at my drivers license, says your DOB is wrong on your reservation…here ya go. TY Julia!!!

Hey all….got a Frigidaire oven and the oven and broiler won’t turn on but the stove top works fine. Replaced the control board, solenoids for the broiler and oven and even the igniter….the only thing I think left that i could replace would be the gas pressure valve by I’m assuming it works because I get gas to the stove top burners…..going crazy here if anyone could recommend some ideas that would be great! 2024.05.14 15:22 gmarinov31 Nacho leaving us this summer ; Varane leaving MU this summer - see where I'm heading with this one?

Hey Madridistas,
What is your stance on us signing 31 y.o. former defender Raphael Varane on a free transfer (if that's a possibility at all, i'm just shooting randomly after connecting the dots today) in order to replace current captain Nacho, who is leaving us in the end of June?
Do you see this as a potential cheap signing of a former legend who, albeit plagued by injuries in his spell across the UK, could still be an amazing addition to the likes of Rudiger, Alaba and Militao.
This way we will have more squad depth and will not have to force Tchouameni to play CB, or Camavinga play LB (we got Mendy, Garcia + Alaba could play LB if necessary). Will it be a good addition, do you think he would like to return, would you as fans welcome him back, what do you think the board will do?
Otherwise we could end up with another injury crisis (think about if Nacho wasn't a part of the squad this year, then we would be left with Rudiger and Tchouameni for the whole season).
Please share your views with me, and bear in mind all of the written above is just a random idea that came upon my mind after seeing the Romano tweet about Varane leaving for sure today.

2024.05.14 15:07 Happy-Affect8639 experience with hunting a cryptid

I got bored one day and just decided to watch youtube.
well that was the day I discovered a "cryptid" which also discovering like all creatures they can indeed die so naturally I got a sudden idea of hunting a few.. of course I've seen a few posts on this reddit and most said never do it alone so then I gathered 4 different people all 3 were military
which is good because they were good with hand to hand combat no doubt I felt confident but since we still needed a plan of finding one because everyone had their doubts they existed besides one guy which was just someone who wanted to tag along and we agreed but he said he actually seen one as a kid but one of the military people (his name was john) said that as a kid you could see things since your brain was still developing but I'm gonna do a thing to show what they said
John: "well ya know you can easily see sh** as a kid since your brain was still growing"
the random person: "well yeah but I was 15 years old which it kind of stops doing that"
John: "yeah I don't know but can we get a move on? I'm supposed to go somewhere later.'
after that one of us gave out the smart idea of going to a wooden area filled with trees where you could not even see the sky which made a weird setting.. almost felt like it wasn't real and another guy (Kain) pointed out we let a random guy we have never seen before tag along and we were going to ask but when we turned to him he was gone.
now that seems unlikely, right? well we seen footsteps we thought he bailed didn't seem like a struggle but john knew something was off and we followed the footsteps and we followed for an hour but Kain as always quickly pointed out that the steps were getting father apart; he was running fast but their was no other tracks so clearly he was just lost.
we just called the cops and explained he seemed to have gotten lost
Cop: "why didn't he just follow his tracks to get back to you guys?"
everyone went silent and just looked at each other and the cop shook their head and walked over to the foot prints and asked us what kind of shoes the guy was wearing (we didn't know and though the cop could tell by the foot prints alone)
John: "I don't think this is something people often pay attention towards, okay?
Cop:" I mean these are not shoes these are bare foot prints almost animal"
for some reason it was only one cop and we though nothing of it and I forget everything kinda happened but he did leave and we didn't really go back we continues actually
our only items were: a flashlight, bottles of water, military food supply which john had almost all the time.
we set a camp in a clearing
John: "we should just set a lamp down and keep it their. after all a "cryptid" could see the smoke and come after us"
Kaine: "I think they would avoid light"
John: "you know if theses things fo exist that means their are multiple types like that weird goat creature which just attacks."
Kaine: "nerd."
John didn't get mad but gave up on the lamp idea and we set a fire and went to sleep. of course that was the weird part because in the middle of the night the loudest scream you could have ever heard which I think I could never forget.
also the 3rd guy (Charley) was just silent if you're wondering why he has no input in sentence because he was mute
(looking back on it now that was kind of a bad move to have a mute guy on the team but he was pretty strong)
I was the only one that jumped up seemingly Charley was never asleep in the first place and was sitting on a log assumingly keeping the fire alive he was looking around trying to see what the sound could have been and that moment is the first time I've ever seen him in fear he grabbed a gun from Charles truck and pointed it at what seemed like thin air.
of course since I said it seemed like thin air it actually was nothing. I grabbed a flashlight and pointed it at where he was aiming and seen it.
it was pale and had long red claws did not look human but it was looking at us and Charley turned the pistol off safety and fired.
it screeched but did not run and clearly since the gun was so loud Kaine and John got up deeply confused grabbed their flashlight and pointed it around it was bleeding.. everywhere but it didn't move.
John pulled a bigger gun from the floor board of his truck and also fired which it didn't move but it started inching closer.. and closer and that point John and charley were firing round after round after round into the creature we had stop Kaine from just jumping at it because he was pissed he woke up to this thing but he calmed down and rat blood almost all over the camp and did not react to anything at all we left immediately and gave up the idea of hunting these thing
you'll call this entire story fake and bull but being in this moment only then will you realize that maybe you're not as strong as you honestly think if a barrage of bullets couldn't stop such a thing.
Kaine, john , Charley and me got in the truck and rushed out of their (left the camp altogether because we did not wanna run into this thing but I can only imagine how badly it would have been if I went alone and not with a team so for god sakes make sure you have a strong set of people before you do this.
also if you think you know what type of creature this could have been please just say so I have never seen such a thing
the stranger is unrelated we really just think he went missing and we're being questioned about his disappearance till this day

2024.05.14 15:05 QuirkyClassroom6059 22 weeks preg, help me name my little boy? + my "criteria"

Hi all, thought this might be fun, anyone want to help me brainstorm? I just found out that I'm having a boy - here is some back story and my name "mood board" criteria :)
-I also just found out he may have a heart defect so anything with a meaning like fighter or warrior might be comforting to me
-His biological dad isn't in the picture so I was originally leaning towards names like God's gift or wanted, treasure, something to reinforce what a miracle he is to me even though he wasn't planned
-A wonderful man from my past (that young-love/what-if's guy who says he always felt the same way after years apart) IS now in the picture and talking about being a stepdad, we'll see how it all shakes out -- the baby was going to have my last name which is French, but if we end up a blended family we'll all have an Irish last name. Originally I was leaning towards something that sounds French without being like, obnoxious (it's not like I'm culturally French or speak it etc, just want the names to sound good together)... but now I want something that sounds good with an Irish or French last name just in case. Both our last names have an O/Eau sound
-I like historic and or literary names; definitely want a unique but not "weird" name.
Okay so now the fun part. Here are some names I LIKE -
Girl names (n/a because of gender but still, for the Mood Board)-
-Ursula (ruined by the Disney sea witch haha but so pretty and love that it means Little Bear)
-Roxanne (ruined by the whole "put on the red light" thing)
-Billie
-Brice
-Odessa (I guess I like vowels)
-Vivienne
-Jasmine (don't usually love flower names but I think this one is so pretty and cool)
-Chantal
Boy names-
-Ulysses (honestly my #1 right now but maybe too out there? And I don't love that the meaning is "angry"... but I can picture little Uly running around, and it is a warrior name with an old-fashioned vibe)
-Seamus (classic but maybe TOO Irish), or Sean
-Hector (love the literary reference, the meaning, and how it's a little French but not sure if it rolls off the tongue... maybe my actual #1)
-Lemuel (ruined by the Mormon association hah, but love the vibe and Lem/Lemmy)
-Ezekiel or Zeke (too Biblical plus, the bread)
Any ideas that go with my vibe but aren't cracking the Top 100? Welcome to all suggestions! Thanks in advance <3

2024.05.14 14:37 ConsciousRich Goading And You

Goading is a frankly underrated mechanic in commander. The couple precons we have seen so far have leaned too much into goading to the detriment of the deck's ability to actually win the game.
I believe that for Goad to be used effectively it has to be sprinkled in a deck, not as a central theme but as a way to mitigate aggression and force your opponents to make uncomfortable choices.
To give some concrete examples I am going to talk about two decks I have built and the different ways they utilize Goading
  1. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/OGcV3Q7STUC-XYaAh2pGlg
This is a Karazikar deck, and Karazikar has all the goading you will ever need on him. Now this particular list is vaguely built around treasures and some theft, but the main idea is to put pressure on your opponents slowly, going from encouraging them to attack each other by offering the incentive of card draw, to goading their bigger creatures and finally either overwhelming them with value or just taking away their ability to fight back with cards like Painful Quandary. While the plan itself is rather mean-spirited the gameplay is a hoot! Everyone is drawing cards, casting spells and trying to get their ducks in a row before they get punched in the face by their friends
  1. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/a20CqiHOA0-oMgmPZeFZDg
This is a Firkraag deck! Goading here is a deliberate effort, you need to keep your opponent's creatures off your back while you are building up your dragons. Card draw becomes more of a challenge as you need to balance ramping, keeping your hand full and your board threatening. You take a much more active role in the game, nettling your own creatures with cards like Goblin Diplomats to trigger the card draw trigger on Firkraag, while forcing your opponents to either attack each other or send their creatures into your dragons' jaws with cards like Bident of Thassa, Public Enemy and Bothersome Quasit. If all goes according to plan, you are finish the game with a massive dragon wearing The Sound of Drums or by giving your board doublestrike with Spectacular Showdown and soaring over your opponents' blockers, and hey if you can't finish the job on that turn, their own goaded doublestriking creatures will probably do it for you
So yeah! Go out there and splash a Disrupt Decorum or a Coronation of Chaos in your decks, don't be afraid to utilize the board instead of wiping it

2024.05.14 14:37 CygnusX-1-2112b In 7 months, I'm gonna be 'that person' on a flight and I dread it.

I'm December, my wife and her family want to take our newborn daughter to the shrine of the mouse cult in Florida. By then she'll still only be 8 months old, and I know she's going to be hell to us and to ask the other passengers on the flight. I offered to drive instead because I really don't want to take her on board, but that idea was shot down because I can't take care of her and drive at the same time, and my wife isn't going to sit through a long car ride like that when flying is an option.
I don't even want to take her there in the first place, really. She isn't going to remember any of it, and honestly it's an overrated and overpriced place to begin with, so I'd rather just not spend the ungodly amount of money that we don't have to fly down there and stay a week and a half for a hellish experience that this child will in no way benefit from, and is just happening to satisfy their need to go to that damn place every year.
Anything I can do to at least make the flight less terrible for everyone on board?

2024.05.14 14:35 Ok_Letterhead_4782 Can I get some opinions on a possible unfair situation I'm dealing with?

So I just graduated from my university with my bachelor's degree (in a health profession) and will be attending the same school this fall for my masters degree. While preparing for grad school, I applied for a scholarship offered by my school and applied for a GA position, but unfortunately, I'll be starting grad school with neither. I'm obviously upset because I wasn't considered, but I also feel frustrated because of the circumstances surrounding these situations. I could use opinions on whether I'm acting irrationally because of hurt feelings or if I'm involved in a potentially unfair situation.
When I was applying for my school's masters program, I only applied to one of the merit-based scholarships that they offered. While I did do this for financial reasons (the scholarship I applied to offered the biggest financial reward), I also did this because I believed I didn't fully qualify for the other scholarships (for example, one scholarship stated it would show preference to a student that had experience and wanted to work with clients of a specific age with a specific diagnosis, and I lack experience with this demographic). So I knew that I had a small chance of receiving any scholarship money from my school, given my own decison to only apply for one. It turns out that applying didn't even matter though, as I found out that more than one person was rewarded with one of these scholarships, even though they stated themselves that they never even applied for them. How is it fair for someone to be granted a scholarship they didn't apply to? Each scholarship required letters of rec and a personal statement outlining why they'd be a good fit, personal experience, and proof of commitment towards our field. How could they get these scholarships without putting in the necessary requirements? And, of course, this made me wonder that if an application didn't matter, why wasn't I considered?
I'm also frustrated with what's been happening with the GA position. Faculty gave us a vague idea of when the applications for this position would open, but never ACTUALLY announced it to us at large. It took me checking our school's career page every week to see if applications had opened. When I asked a professor for a letter of rec for my application, they accidentally revealed that some of my other classmates had already asked for a letter, and thus, had already applied. So not only did our program fail to inform all of us of when the applications opened, but some of my own classmates knew about it and kept it to themselves. During the last week of class, I found out that I had qualified for an interview. I heavily prepared for my interview and honestly thought I did really well, but I wasn't chosen. I don't know how many other people also got an interview (it definitely wasn't everyone who applied), but I do know of some other people who got an interview, and I have a gut feeling that they might've been chosen. And tbh, if it was just them and me who made it to the interview process, I never stood a chance. I have nothing against them; they're incredibly kind and considerate people who have also worked hard to succeed in our program and extracurriculars. We all get along well even if we have our different friend groups. However, there's definitely an ounce of preferential treatment that sometimes goes their way that has been felt by myself and others. This is obviously all speculation, because I don't actually know if they're the ones who were chosen, but I was taken aback that upon hearing that I wasn't considered, some of my other classmates came to the same idea/conclusion that I did: that they must've been chosen for the positions. I can't help but wonder if they really are the ones who were chosen, and I can't stop wondering what it is that I'm lacking in comparison.
It's not like I was an irresponsible student either. I graduated with honors and a 3.86 gpa. I was part of our program's club and also served on the executive board for it. I never had a missed or late assignment and I only missed class once due to an illness that was excused. I performed well during clinicals, being given full marks by my supervisors, and more than once, my professors referenced my work ethic and diligence in succeeding in the work/expectations they gave me. Rationally, I know that they were also qualified, but given past experiences, I can't help but think that part of the reason I wasn't chosen for any of the scholarships or the position may be due to preferential treatment.
Someone please tell me if i'm reacting like a butthurt child or if my concerns are warranted. I'm more upset than anything after finding out I wasn't considered for either of these opportunities (and not knowing why), and I need to know if i'm being irrational.

2024.05.14 14:28 -beleriand- How to Stop Wasting Time?

If I'm posting and rambling too much y'all ignore me. I've just found such community here and it's so helpful.
So, I know a lot of the advice I see in this thread and from AA folks (I don't attend currently but I think it's super helpful!) is that you need to have hobbies. I have an abundance of those. I have never been short on hobbies, I write, paint, read, crochet, am really into movies, I cook, draw, color, love board games and puzzles.
...but somehow when I get the urge to drink I can't... Distract myself? The urge is so strong and overwhelming that the idea of doing any of that stuff just seems annoying to me. Most of the time I just sit around until I'm tired enough to lay down. I have a lot of trouble sleeping as I have had chronic insomnia all of my life. So I lay in bed until it gets too late to reasonably go get anything to drink (but I'm surrounded by 24hr options anyway) and I just...am mad. I get so annoyed and irritated when I decide I want a drink. Which is most days. And I usually don't drink. But how are y'all doing all this stuff? Did you have to wait until later into your sobriety to care about doing any of it?
I don't know how to say what I want to say. Just that when I get that urge, I get so MAD that I "can't" drink that I waste a lot of time doing just nothing. There's so many projects I could be catching up on, books I could be finishing faster than I am (I do read pretty consistently) and movies I could be watching. But I just don't want to do any of it.
The people closest to me tell me they can tell when I'm craving a drink because I won't "commit" to anything. I won't engage in social activities, I won't get started on my crochet or reading in the evenings, I won't even start a movie. It just feels impossible and paralyzing in those moments.
How do I stop wasting so much time thinking about drinking even when I'm not? Does the obsessiveness go away in time? Is it actually time wasted even if I'm not drinking? Because it really feels like it when I COULD be doing anything else. I'm tired of scrolling through social media not even really seeing anything passing on my screen because I'm thinking about alcohol and how I can't have any.
Anyway, idk if this made any sense at all...but thanks for listening y'all.

2024.05.14 14:23 IronMew Black vs purple 16MB board

Every now and then I peruse AE's "3 for €6" offer and I was surprised to see RP2040s pop up there at €2.
I've dealt with a RPMicro in the past to flash a Xbox360. Seemed like a nice device I could do other useful things with, but I left it inside the console for the inevitable moment when I screw something up and have to reflash. That, somehow, never happened, but I'm not aching to disassemble the entire accursed thing yet again to fish the RP2040 out, so I'm thinking of ordering one of these on AE.
When selecting for the 16MB version, there is a black board and a purple board. The purple one has more pins, but the black one has a USR button that I can imagine might be useful.
Any ideas if either is a better purchase? I don't have a specific project in mind at the moment, I'm basically just getting one in anticipation of wanting to do something with it at some point.
The special offer doesn't have the W version, so that's out.

Making a Rainy Season Chart for Preschool: A Complete Guide.
The Rainy Season Chart for Preschool is a bright instructional tool created to captivate young minds with the joys of the rainy season. Crafting this chart may be a meaningful experience for preschoolers since it mixes creativity and learning, allowing them to explore weather patterns visually. This article will follow you through the process of producing a handmade chart that depicts the essence of the rainy season by incorporating aspects such as rainfall, clouds, and the lifetime of a raindrop.
https://preview.redd.it/4z61n34jvd0d1.jpg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3cc399fb26fdf7943541149380f32d46baa76e36
Materials Needed
  • Poster board or large paper
  • Markers, crayons, or paint
  • Cotton balls (for clouds)
  • Blue tissue paper (for rain)
  • Glue and scissors
  • Pictures or stickers related to the rainy season

Step 1: Planning Your Chart

Start by deciding what elements you want to include on your Rainy Season Chart. Will it be purely illustrative, or will it include facts about the rainy season? Here are a few ideas:
  • Illustrations of Rainy Season: Clouds, raindrops, umbrellas, raincoats, and puddles.
  • Facts About the Rainy Season: Importance of rain, how rain is formed, and safety tips during the rainy season.

Step 2: Creating the Background

Choose a color that represents the rainy season (such as gray or blue) and cover your poster board. This will serve as the backdrop for your chart.
  • Paint the background with broad strokes to depict the sky and possibly the ground.
  • Once dry, you can add details like puddles on the ground using darker shades of blue.

Step 3: Adding Clouds and Rain

Use cotton balls to create fluffy clouds at the top of your chart. Glue them to the poster board in clusters to mimic the sky's appearance during the rainy season.
  • Tear blue tissue paper into strips to represent rain falling from the clouds and glue them beneath the cotton ball clouds.
  • For an interactive element, attach raindrops using string so they can hang and move.

Step 4: Illustrating Rainy Season Activities

This part is especially fun and engaging for children. Draw or use pictures to show common rainy season activities.
  • Illustrate people using umbrellas, wearing raincoats, or jumping in puddles.
  • You can also include animals like frogs or snails that are often associated with the rainy season.

Step 5: Incorporating Educational Elements

To make the chart educational, include simple facts or data about the rainy season. This can be in the form of Handmade Charts for Preschool that detail the water cycle or Kindergarten Seasons Chart for Preschoolers that explains different weather patterns.
  • Create a small section that explains how rain is formed, using simple language and illustrations.
  • Add safety tips for the rainy season, such as staying indoors during thunderstorms and avoiding flooded areas.

Step 6: Finishing Touches

Review your chart to ensure it's engaging and informative. You can add glitter to raindrops for a sparkling effect or use a marker to outline illustrations and make them pop.
  • Label each section of your chart clearly.
  • If the chart is part of a larger weather project, consider making charts for other seasons using a similar format.

Step 7: Sharing and Discussion

Once your Rainy Season Chart for Preschool is complete, share it with your class. Use it as a tool to initiate discussions about the rainy season, asking children about their experiences and what they've learned from the chart.
  • Encourage questions and allow children to share their own rainy day stories.
  • Use the chart as a prompt for related activities, such as drawing their rainy day or conducting simple weather experiments.

Utilizing Technology

In today’s digital age, integrating traditional teaching methods with technology can enhance the learning experience. A school parent app can be a great way to share your rainy season chart with parents, keeping them informed about their child's learning and encouraging discussions at home about the rainy season.
  • Upload pictures of your chart to the app, along with a brief description of the learning objectives.
  • Share additional resources or activities that parents can do with their children at home to further explore the topic.

Conclusion: Fostering Creativity and Learning

Making a Rainy Season Chart for Preschool is more than simply an art project; it's a dynamic educational activity that promotes creativity, piques curiosity about the natural world, and supports core learning about weather patterns. Using this step-by-step method, instructors can design interesting, informative charts that capture young learners' imaginations and promote a greater understanding of the world around them. By embracing these hands-on activities, we cultivate well-rounded learners who are ready to investigate and challenge their surroundings.

2024.05.14 14:07 Rare_Manufacturer588 What are the rules regarding doctor-patient confidentiality if you are on workers compensation?

TLDR: GP gave insurer medical records about me without asking.
Background: I was involved with several incidents last year, which really impacted my health. I was paying for it out of my own pocket, but after some persuading by my mates I decided to go through workers comp. The specialist bills and rehab start to add up fast! So mostly just wanted help with that as I get back to normal. So I went to the GP and got him to fill out some paperwork.
As part of the application, you have to agree to let the insurer contact your doctors. I assumed that the process would be like: 1. Insurer writes to my GP 2. GP let's me know (in general terms) what they want. 3. I can say yes or no. Or, at least my GP would tell me shortly after the fact.
Sure, it might be better if the insurer has access to information. Otherwise it might look like I'd just made stuff up. But I still would've liked to be asked, or know it'd happened.
I wasn't asked. The insurer got a letter from my GP, a list of medications I take, and patient records about me. Some were related to the claim, and some weren't.
This all has me feeling a bit uncomfortable. I'm no longer seeing this GP. But I guess I wanted to know if it's normal? I have no idea because I've never been through anything like this before.
Things you might be wondering: My claim got accepted. Insurer said it wasn't because of my GP's letter. They said it was because of the independent medical exam I had to have.
Now seeing a new GP. But kind of wondering if I should be more careful about what information I share with GPs in future? Nothing to do with the claim, it was all above board. But like all people, I occasionally see doctors for things that are embarrassing.
I found out by accident. I got a call from an allied health professional I saw, asking if I was happy if they reply to the letter they got. I asked my GP if he also got a letter. He said yes, but only provided 'limited information' in response to it. I wasn't convinced so contacted the insurer to see copies of the correspondence, which they recently gave me.

'Jonathan Bailey doesn’t like to bare it all. But vulnerability fueled his best performance yet' - Jonny interview with the LA Times

“This is where all the cruising happened.”
Jonathan Bailey and I are standing in Pershing Square on a bright, blustery spring afternoon, nearing the end of a homemade queer history tour of downtown L.A.: One Magazine, Cooper Do-Nuts/Nancy Valverde Square, the Dover bathhouse, the Biltmore Hotel and this, the city’s former Central Park, a haven, since before World War I, for “fairies” and “sissy boys,” servicemen on leave and beatniks on the road.
“Is it still happening now?” he asks.
“Probably not as much,” I venture.
“Well, you let me know if it’s happening,” he teases, a mischievous smile lighting up his face.
Bailey understands the uses of the charm offensive. As Sam, the handsome Lothario of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s delightful pre-”Fleabag” curio, “Crashing”; Anthony, the romantic hero of “Bridgerton’s” second season; and John, the jerk of a protagonist in Mike Bartlett’s love triangle play “Cock,” the English actor, 36, has swaggered up to the precipice of superstardom. With roles in such studio tentpoles as “Wicked” and “Jurassic World” on the horizon, he may just break through. Yet he delivers career-best work in Showtime’s queer melodrama “Fellow Travelers,” as anti-Communist crusader-turned-gay rights activist Tim Laughlin, by leaving behind the self-assured rakes and tapping a new wellspring: soft power.
Tim may be, as Bailey puts it, “an open nerve,” but as it turns out, the devout Catholic and political naïf — who falls for suave State Department operative Hawkins “Hawk” Fuller (Matt Bomer) just as Sen. Joseph McCarthy tries to purge the federal government of LGBTQ people — is formidable indeed.
Stretching from the Lavender Scare to the depths of the AIDS crisis, in scenes of tenderness, cruelty and toe-curling sex, Bailey’s performance communicates that little-spoken truth of relationships: It takes more strength to submit than it does to control. The former demands discipline, courage, trust; the latter requires only force.
“In ‘Bridgerton,’ [Bailey] is like a Hawkins Fuller character — he is very sexy and has lots of power, has that kind of confident charisma that absolutely is not Tim at all,” says “Fellow Travelers” creator Ron Nyswaner.
But any doubt about Bailey’s ability to mesh with Bomer, who boarded the project early in development, was put to bed with the actors’ virtual rehearsal of a meeting on a park bench in the pilot. “‘Well, that’s a first,’” Nyswaner recalls an executive texting him. “I cried in a chemistry read.”
‘Am I inviting people in?’
Bailey grew up in a musical family in the Oxfordshire countryside outside London, and this, coupled with an appreciation for the morning prayers, choir practice and Mass he attended as a scholarship student at the local Catholic school, fed his precocious talents. (“I loved the performance of it,” he laughs. “Not to diminish the celebration of religious process, but I did love the idea of wearing a gown.”) By age 10, he’d appeared in the West End, playing Gavroche in a production of “Les Misérables,” an experience he now recognizes as an encounter with a queer found family — albeit one shadowed by the toll of the AIDS crisis, which peaked in the U.K. in the mid-1990s.
“When I’m asked about my childhood, there’s so much I don’t remember, and I think that’s true of anyone who’s been in fight or flight for 20 years,” he says. “I would have been in a cast of people whose friends would have died in the last seven years. I think of where I was seven years ago. I had all my gay friends then. It’s only retrospectively that I can retrofit a real gay community around me [in the theater], that I just wasn’t aware of [then].”
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, American and British culture presented queer adolescents with a bewildering array of mixed signals. As beloved celebrities came out in growing numbers, and the battle for marriage equality became a central locus of LGBTQ political organizing, the media continued to propagate harmful stereotypes of gay men as miserable, lonely, perverted or worse — and, Bailey remembers, callously turned George Michael, arrested on suspicion of cruising in a Beverly Hills restroom in 1998, and Irish pop star Stephen Gately, who revealed his sexuality in 1999, fearful he was about to be outed, into tabloid spectacles.
No wonder Bailey, like many LGBTQ people of his generation, should feel the “chemical” thrill of “validation and acceptance” during London Pride at age 18, then embark on a two-year relationship with a woman in his 20s.
“Dangerously, if you’re not exposed to people who can show you other examples of happiness, you think that’s the easiest way to live,” Bailey says. “It’s funny. You look back and you can tell the story in one way, which is that I always knew who I was and my sexuality and my identity within that. But obviously at times, it was really tough. I compromised my own happiness, for sure. And compromised other people’s happiness.”
https://preview.redd.it/9q0vkj3djd0d1.jpg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c631452122b5fb2c401e95352dcc0c21d54d0d7
Disclosures about his personal life have become particularly thorny for the actor since the premiere of “Bridgerton,” the blockbuster bodice-ripper from executive producer Shonda Rhimes.
“The Netflix effect does knock you off center completely,” he says, recalling the experience of finding a paparazzo waiting outside his new flat before he’d even moved in. “Suddenly, you do start having nightmares about people climbing in your windows... Even now, talking about it makes me feel like, ‘Am I inviting people in?’”
He is also critical of the media for churning out headlines about the smallest details of celebrities’ private lives, often detached from their original context. In an interview with the London Evening Standard published in December, Bailey described a harrowing encounter in a Washington, D.C., coffee shop in which a man threatened his life for being queer — and, in recounting the experience, offhandedly mentioned the “lovely man” he’d called, shaken, after it happened. Although Bailey acknowledges that the original story handled the subject with aplomb, he felt dismayed that more attention wasn’t paid to the intended warning about rising anti-LGBTQ sentiment: “The only thing that got syndicated from that story was that I had a boyfriend, and it wasn’t true,” he sighs. “It was kind of depressing, if I’m honest.”
Still, Bailey, who once turned down a role in a queer-themed TV series because it would have required him to speed along revelations about his personal life he wasn’t ready to make, is prepared to embrace the power of vulnerability when it feeds the work. Although a member of his inner circle expressed doubts about “Fellow Travelers’” steamy sex scenes, for instance, the actor intuited that they were what made the project worth doing: “I was like, ‘I’m telling you, they are the reason why this is going to be brilliant.’”
‘He’s changed my trajectory in my own life’
To those who would complain about the state of sex in film and TV, “Fellow Travelers” is the perfect riposte. All of it matters, from Tim’s first flirtation with Hawk to the finale’s closing minutes, because the series, at its core, is about the importance of soft power: the strength required to bend, but not break; to adapt, but not abandon oneself; to survive without shrinking to nothing in the process. And depicting that through sex, specifically gay sex, makes “Fellow Travelers” radical indeed.
Bailey understands that baring so much comes with certain risks. When I tell him that research for the story has filled my algorithmic “For You” feed on X (formerly Twitter) with speculation that his onscreen relationship with Bomer has a real-life element, he notes that “shipping” fictional couples and costars alike has long been part of Hollywood fantasy. But he bristles at the implication that he and Bomer are anything but skilled actors at work.
“I would love for people to know that the success of our chemistry isn’t based on us f—. It’s actually about us leaning into the craft,” he says. “It’s a vulnerable situation to be in, talking about it on record. I don’t want to rob people of their thoughts. But I do have a set of values, and as an artist, you don’t need to be f— to tell that love story.”
Underlying that craft, Bailey adds, is the confidence to speak up, as with one scene in “Fellow Travelers” that was adjusted because he said, “I don’t want to be naked today.” He learned to use his voice the hard way: In his early 20s, he recalls, he was once “bullied” on set when “someone was threatened” by him and vowed to himself, “I’m never going to do that to someone. I’m never going to allow that to happen."
https://preview.redd.it/4qwts4jrjd0d1.jpg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b9be4bb693aa886389f599b4e82c0f6a520be45
This impulse to direct his influence in support of others has blossomed further with “Fellow Travelers.” On the day of our interview, Bailey enthuses about an upcoming meeting with legendary gay rights activist Cleve Jones and shares his idea for a docuseries recording the stories of elders in the LGBTQ+ community while they are still here to tell them. He describes lying in a hospital bed on set on World AIDS Day, in character as Tim, surrounded by gay men who had lost friends and lovers during the crisis, and finding himself thinking, “What do I want to leave behind?”
“I think he’s changed my trajectory in my own life,” Bailey says.
This is, perhaps, the most common reaction I know to diving deep into queer history — the understanding that we, like our forerunners, are responsible for shaping the queer future, whether in politics, society or art. No one is going to do it on our behalf.
As we stand on the nondescript corner now named for her, I relate the story of the late queer activist Nancy Valverde, who was arrested repeatedly while a barber school student in the 1950s on suspicion of “masquerading” because of her preference for short hair and men’s clothing, and later successfully challenged her harassment by the police in court.
“What a hero!” Bailey exclaims, wondering at Valverde’s bravery. “The thing that’s so interesting with power battles is, ultimately, identity is the thing that gives you the most strength and power in your life, isn’t it?
“Because that’s one thing people can’t take away from you: who you are and how you express yourself."

Luxury on a Budget: Affordable Kitchen Renovations in Port Macquarie

https://preview.redd.it/guz1fzxsid0d1.jpg?width=612&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff95aed0acbc367dbe23a11016ce12922f1c6dbd
When it comes to kitchen renovations, the idea of luxury often conjures images of extravagant expenses. However, achieving a superior quality kitchen without breaking the bank is entirely possible, even in the picturesque town of Port Macquarie. This guide will show you how to transform your kitchen into a designer kitchen while sticking to a budget. By focusing on strategic planning and smart choices, you can enjoy a stunning kitchen that combines both elegance and affordability.

The Appeal of Kitchen Renovations in Port Macquarie

Port Macquarie, known for its beautiful coastal scenery and relaxed lifestyle, is a popular location for homeowners looking to enhance their living spaces. A kitchen renovation not only improves the functionality and aesthetic of your home but also adds significant value to your property. With the right approach, you can create a space that is both luxurious and cost-effective.

Planning Your Budget-Friendly Designer Kitchen

Assess Your Needs and Set a Budget

The first step in any kitchen renovation is to assess your needs and set a realistic budget. Determine which aspects of your kitchen need the most attention. Are you looking for more storage, better lighting, or a complete overhaul? Setting a clear budget will help you prioritize your expenses and make informed decisions.

Research and Gather Inspiration

Before you start your renovation, spend time researching and gathering inspiration. Look at magazines, online platforms like Pinterest, and visit local showrooms in Port Macquarie. This will give you a clear idea of the styles and features you like. Create a vision board to help you stay focused on your desired outcome.

Choose Quality Materials

One of the keys to achieving a luxurious look on a budget is to choose quality materials that are also affordable. Consider materials that offer durability and aesthetic appeal without the high price tag. For example, quartz countertops can provide the look of natural stone at a lower cost. Similarly, laminate or vinyl flooring can mimic the appearance of hardwood or tile.

Smart Design Choices for a Superior Quality Kitch

Maximize Existing Layout

Rather than opting for a complete reconfiguration of your kitchen layout, which can be costly, try to work within the existing framework. Focus on updating the elements within the current layout, such as cabinetry, countertops, and appliances. This approach can save you a substantial amount of money while still delivering a fresh new look.

Upgrade Cabinets and Hardware

Cabinets are a significant focal point in any kitchen. If your cabinets are in good condition, consider giving them a facelift rather than replacing them. Painting or refacing cabinets can drastically change their appearance at a fraction of the cost. Adding new hardware, such as handles and knobs, can also elevate the overall look of your kitchen.

Invest in Quality Fixtures

Fixtures like faucets and lighting play a crucial role in defining the style of your kitchen. Investing in high-quality fixtures can make a big impact without a huge expense. Look for stylish yet affordable options that enhance the functionality and aesthetics of your kitchen.

Incorporating Affordable Luxury

https://preview.redd.it/67cx9ij2jd0d1.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69fab6b0a910d659444011e53f0773483e85b531

Stylish Backsplashes

A stylish backsplash can add a touch of luxury to your kitchen. Consider materials like subway tiles, which are both affordable and timeless. For a more unique look, explore options like peel-and-stick tiles or budget-friendly mosaic tiles.

Open Shelving and Glass Front Cabinets

Open shelving and glass front cabinets can create an airy, modern look in your kitchen. They are also a cost-effective way to display your dishware and add personality to your space. By reducing the number of upper cabinets, you can save on material costs and create a more open feel.

Multi-functional Islands

A kitchen island can serve multiple purposes, from additional prep space to casual dining. Instead of custom-built islands, consider pre-made options or repurpose an existing piece of furniture. Adding an island can increase the functionality and luxury of your kitchen without a hefty price tag.

Hiring Local Expertise in Port Macquarie

Seek Professional Advice

While a DIY approach can save money, consulting with a local kitchen designer or contractor in Port Macquarie can provide valuable insights and help avoid costly mistakes. Professionals can offer advice on the best materials, layouts, and design elements to achieve a luxurious look within your budget.

Get Multiple Quotes

When hiring professionals, it’s important to get multiple quotes to ensure you’re getting the best value for your money. Compare the services, materials, and timelines offered by different contractors to make an informed decision. This step can help you find the right balance between quality and cost.
