Totem Chair I
Designed by New York Based Artist Jack Simonds Studio
I was hired to make the leather sling and bring this idea to life. We decided to use English Bridle from Wickett and Craig. Hand cut and sewn on site, edges beveled and burnished to a shine . Managed to pull this off with just one side. The seams are hidden in the pass through on each totem, locked into place by steel bars.

I had thought about a vine plant that you lowered from my shoulder and surrounded it but I'm not too sure. I'm open to any ideas! If something occurs to you, tell me. PS: I designed this tattoo myself and I will do the same with the next one.

2024.05.14 22:17 Fickle_Concept_5815 UTRGV Global Career Accelerator

As excited a I was to begin my journey with Global Career Accelerator, I had no idea what I was actually getting myself into. I soon found my investment was well worth it. I chose the Digital Marketing track because I thought it would be the best segway into graphic design in a professional setting. I was right about that part, but didn't expect to receive so much more in the process. I'm an Art major with a K-12 teaching certification, so this lent itself to my personal interests and to the future success of my classroom - a passion project if you will.
The tools I learned carry a lot of value, even now, as a pre-field art teacher, I know these skills will lend themselves to my success beyond the classroom. My favorite section was while we worked in Shopify, building our own site. I loved the graphic design element and it was so fun, it didn't feel like class. I also took a lot a way from their section on learning about building international relationships, having the knowledge and skills to be a better communicator and team player are also pretty important in my area of the world. I live in a border town and being a bilingual student who wants to one day soon have their own business, I can say that this part was especially important. It gave me great insight to the types of cultural differences that must be considered and respected in order to create successful relationships in commerce and amongst the professional community. Imagine arriving at your first internship or pro job and you've already got the skills to be a strong team player! You'd be ahead of the game... something I didn't foresee being as impactful as it has been on my life as a student. I'm more confident approaching team work tasks and learned to be more open minded about other's input.
If you have any questions about the Global Career Accelerator program, give me a shout. I would highly recommend this course, I don't imagine there is a career out there that wouldn't benefit from this type of experience.

2024.05.14 22:16 Subject_Media_682 The BloodRage

**Introduction**
Nearly a decade ago, the sickness emerged, starting with a few cases in New York City before spreading rapidly across the nation. The infected displayed symptoms three days post-infection: bleeding from the eyes, foaming at the mouth, and an uncontrollable rage. Identified as BR-101, the virus spread through bodily fluids and surface droplets, decimating cities and overwhelming attempts to contain it. Despite efforts by the national guard, the infected surged towards safe zones, leading to the collapse of defenses and the abandonment of civilians.
**Chapter 1: Erin's Tale**
Erin Johnston, once a doctor at Mercy General Hospital, witnessed the horrors of the infected firsthand. Despite medical efforts, patients succumbed to the virus, transforming into violent beings devoid of humanity. Evacuated to Safe Zone d11, Erin joined a CDC research team to understand the virus. BR-101, a rapidly mutating retrovirus, stripped victims of control, driving them to spread the infection through bites. As the safe zone fell, Erin, along with her colleagues, faced the grim reality of their new world.
**Chapter 1: The Fall of Safe Zone D11**
Awakened by alarms and chaos, Erin evacuated with fellow survivors, armed with limited supplies. Stocking up on weaponry, she faced her first encounter with the infected, learning to defend herself amidst the carnage. Joining forces with Jimmy, an ex-Special Forces operative, and Caroline, an infectious disease specialist, Erin embarked on a perilous journey towards D15, the last bastion of hope.
**Chapter 2: Hyde Park**
Navigating through hordes of infected, Erin's group stumbled upon Hyde Park, a desolate town overrun by the ravenous creatures. Faced with overwhelming odds, they fought for survival, employing strategic retreats and relentless gunfire. Temporarily securing refuge, they braced for the next leg of their journey, wary of the challenges that lay ahead.
**Chapter 3: Elmont**
Seeking vital supplies, Erin ventured into Elmont, risking encounters with both infected and unforeseen dangers. Amidst skirmishes and narrow escapes, she procured essential medications and ammunition, ensuring Caroline's treatment and their group's survival. With newfound resources, they fortified their position, preparing for the treacherous road to D15.
**Chapter 4: The Road to D15**
Approaching the heavily fortified D15, Erin's group witnessed the relentless onslaught of infected against its defenses. Observing from afar, they witnessed the valiant yet futile efforts of the military to repel the horde. Despite the grim reality before them, they resolved to find refuge elsewhere, setting their sights on a distant farm as their last hope.
**Chapter 5: The Fall of D15**
As chaos consumed D15 in a fiery inferno, Erin and her companions narrowly escaped the devastation, their hopes shattered by the destruction of the once impenetrable stronghold. Reeling from the loss of Jimmy and the deafening blast, they pressed onward, seeking sanctuary amidst the ruins of a world torn apart.
**Chapter 6: Last Stand**
Ambushed by a relentless horde, Erin fought bravely alongside Caroline and Jimmy, but the odds proved insurmountable. As her companions fell, Erin confronted her own mortality, facing the inevitable end with resolve. With her final thoughts, she reflected on the tragedy of mankind's downfall, resigned to her fate in a world consumed by the BloodRage.
**Epilogue**
As Erin's story concludes, her fate remains uncertain, leaving readers to ponder the harrowing reality of survival in a world ravaged by the BloodRage.

Random Gap that I Can't Get Rid of--- How Do I Fix It?
Hey, I'm learning InDesign to self-publish a book of primary sources. I keep running into this problem on some of my pages, and none of my research has found a solution to it so far.
I have primary text frame on, and thus my text flows from page to page. I also have keep settings on, so that I'm not left with widows and orphans. However, in some cases, the paragraph is breaking even when there is plenty of space. I tried turning off and on keep settings, and it went from moving 3 lines to the next page unnecessarily to just a little orphan like you see in the screenshot. It is acting like there is something there to block the text from being on the bottom. It doesn't happen to all pages, I double checked that there isn't inset spacing, and I have hidden characters turned on. Document grid doesn't help either. Any ideas as to what else I could try? Thanks for any help---I'm really frustrated!

2024.05.14 22:14 Formal_Bug6124 Late 60s, Early 70s Horror Movie

A friend of mine is trying to find a movie her dad watched with her when she was little, so this is all she remembers...
A couple drives into a small town and stop at an antique shop. The owner shoos them out so he can close up shop before dark. The entire town does the same. The couple gets back in the car and drives down the road. A little while late a big claw crashes through the windshield.
Any ideas?

2024.05.14 22:14 addixon__ Hi

Hi
Recently I came up with idea of Starlo and Ceroba getting married and having child together. Someone recommended me posting her design and story there so here I am
Few informations about her Her name is Keiko (would name her Clover if she was a boy) as in Japanese Kanji it means “blessed child”. Uk, their little blessing for future etc She gets a lot lot attention from everyone (her parents, grandparents, feisty five) but she’s not a spoiled brat She wears kimonos but not only as her mom and to every outfit she has she pins a star pin she got from her dad She’s a Kitsune, really similar to Ceroba but her hair has a lot of Starlo’s colors (the darker shades on the drawings) She liked to call herself a South Star as a kid till she was like 13 (Starlo still calls her that but she likes it so she doesn’t fix him) She loves human movies and everything horse related She would spent time with everyone in the underground such as Harvesting with Dalv Traveling with Martlet Playing guitar with Morey Hearing stories from Ceroba And more more I’m not really good at drawing so forgive me if something looks ugly, I’m not a professional plus I draw with pencil on paper so it’s not very good Keiko’s design is completely mine, please, don’t copy it If I accidentally copied any artists work, in reply sorry about that, lemme know, I’ll ping you there or if you wish I will delete that photo Still working on some drawings, if you have illustrations where I can put Keiko, please post it here I’ll try to draw it!! I hope you’ll like her 🩵🫶🏻

2024.05.14 22:13 Traditional_Clue_948 Teenager hit my car

So a couple weeks ago a teenager hit my car and left their phone number and “first name” but they’ve given me empty promises on the mother reaching out. Metro and the insurance won’t do an investigation. I’ve contacted the security at both the high schools they could go to on this side of town but haven’t heard much. I’m just tired of being dragged in circles and she’s asking me to lie about what happened. Realistically I should sue them but i just lose sleep over the whole situation I just want my car fixed. Does anyone have any ideas on how to find the family? The reverse phone searches online couldn’t get me a last name and that’s literally all I need. Please if you have any advice I’ll take anything. Or if you’re a tech person then god bless you if you can help

2024.05.14 22:13 Thatsidechara_ter Fort Ko'Var Briefing (Northern Mountains Front)

Fort Ko'Var Briefing (Northern Mountains Front)
[This post will function as the primary info-dump and planning post for the Siege of Fort Ko'Var. Let's get to it!]

Colenel Jethro Arvin looked around the Taronian 8th Regimental Headquarters at Waycross Road, surveying the plethora of attendees both junior and senior. It was a hell of a crowd; he hoped he didn't dissapoint.
First, there was of course his own senior staff, all in physical attendence now that Major Quoke had rejoined them. Also present in-person was Lieutenant Lenore McPherson, Intelligence Officer of the Praetorian 27th, and the Valyrran Major Zero, who arrived with Major Quoke and now stood silently off to the opposite side of the room from the Taronians.
There were also a plethora of attendees tuning in via hololith; Colonel Braithwaite and General Redlina herself plus a number of other Valyrran officers, presumably representing other elements to be allocated to the siege. There was also the lone small figure of a woman in a Minthelian jumpsuit; Arvin recognized her as the young aide who had guided him when he received orders from General Redlina to detain the Minthelian Lieutenant Sophy. It felt so long ago now.
The final hololith attendee, however, Arvin did not recognize: he wore a long white coat adorned with various bits of webbing and equipment over knee-high leather boots, and a simple steel helmet with a gold Aquila on it atop his head. The man introduced himself as Colonel Lilzton, commander of Task Force Liberation, the loyalist PDF remnants to the north of the fort. Arvin hoped he would get to meet him in person some time.
But now, everyone was assembled, and it was time for Colonel Arvin to begin his briefing.
"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for attending this briefing. We have a lot to get through, so I'll begin without delay..."

INTRODUCTION:
Covering an surface area of about 12.5 square kilometers, Fort Ko'Var, previously known as "Saint's Gate", serves as the primary bastion of resistance for the entirety of the northern mountains. It is carved directly out of the rock in many places, and as it's Imperial name suggests, it controls all passage along the north-south mountain road. Both the town of Kan'Shae and the base of operations for Task Force Liberation are nominally cut off to the north of the fort; for these reasons, the position must be captured if we are to secure victory in this region.

THE TERRAIN:
The geography surrounding Fort Ko'Var only makes it's capture more important. To the east and southeast lays an expanse of high peaks, jagged cliffs, and all manner of other hazardous terrain, such that getting a cohesive fighting force over it is all but impossible.
To the east and northeast lies a river which continues uninterrupted to Westbridge Lake. It is believed to have been artificially-made by the fortress's builders to achieve 2 goals: 1) to prevent the bypassing of the fort by any kind of vehicular foe simply by driving around it, and 2) to supply the defenders with a ready source of clean drinking water, as the river ends in a large pool enclosed within the fortress itself.
Thus, strategically-speaking, Fort Ko'Var is a natural chokepoint which provides the only way past these obstacles, both natural and man-made. Tactically-speaking, the ground surrounding the fort is wide open, providing little cover except for a handfull of foothills that could be used as staging grounds and observation posts.

THE ROAD:
The road which makes Fort Ko'Var so vital runs directly through the mountain in a tunnel just to the west of the bulk of the defenses; this tunnel is capped on both ends by reinforced blast doors rated to withstand at least some punishment from anything we have at our disposal, and is furthermore enclosed by 2 of the 3 defensive tiers of the fort.
We can also assume the tunnel is rigged to blow at the defenders' discretion. Should this happen, the only road connection will be through the heart of the fortress itself, as there are connections on either side of the tunnel, winding up and then down an extensive series of switchback roads that would expose any vehicle to near-endless plunging fire from above. Needless to say, simply ignoring the fort and it's occupants is not an option if we wish to use this highway.

THE TIERS:
Fort Ko'Var is comprised of 3 main defensive tiers, each partitioned by 3 heavily-fortified walls. all of these are complete with bunkers, observation towers, and massive defensive hardpoints that make them formidable obstacles for any attacker, but each also has its quirks and weaknesses that might be exploited.
The outer wall is comparable to a hive city's curtain wall, at least in construction if not in sheer thickness. It rises above the 1st, lowest defensive tier on a gentle slope; this tier is largely home to Fort Ko'Var's rank and file barracks, commodities and maintenence facilities.
The inner wall is less a true wall, and more of a permacrete-reinforced cliff that rings around the 2nd Defensive Tier. The only way up without climbing is a handful of personnel entrances and the 2 roadways, one north and one south. This tier houses the primary vehicle and equipment storage facilities, additional support infrastructure, the secondary artillery batteries, the commoner prison facilities, as well several passageways leading to the road tunnel and beyond.
Lastly, the Final Citadel is not a wall at all, but is instead a massive, adamantine-sheathed, armored plateau that sits at the very top of Fort Ko'Var, complete with countless weapons portholes, pillboxes, a partial mote, and a miniature voidshield enveloping it. Inside this last bastion is the fortress's command center, essential supplies storage, the VIP prison facilities, the majority of the fort's munitions storage capacity, and on top of it is positioned a ring of anti-aircraft emplacements as well as Fort Ko'Var's pride and joy: her primary artillery batteries.

THE ARTILLERY:
Aside from the countless other weapons systems protecting the fort, her main method of reaching out and touching her foes with extreme prejudice is, was, and always has been her artillery. These systems come in batteries of 4 weapons each, and every gun is housed in it's own 360-degree turreted bunker.
For air cover, 8 Imperial-era Hydra Flak Batteries still play a key role in protecting the fortress, but these have been further supplemented by 2 batteries of T'au-made SAM launchers. These long-range munitions are deadly to any pilot who strays anywhere near the fort's airspace, and should not be tested lightly. The Hydra batteries, meanwhile, can also be turned towards anti-personnel duties easily enough, as well.
Onto the ground-to-ground weapon systems, the local auxilia garrison will of course deploy light artillery such as mortars, but for precise, in-close bombardments that can pack real punch, Fort Ko'Var relies on it's 5 batteries of Bombast Field Cannons; I'm sure you're all familiar with that platform by now.
But for more long-range needs, Fort Ko'Var relies on its primary armament of 4 batteries of "Earthquaker" Cannons, as the locals call them. These weapons are T'au-modified, extended-range variants of the venerable Earthshaker Cannon, and rebel reports have clocked it's maximum range with a standard powder charge at about 22 kilometers, increasing to 30 when supercharged. They pack the same firepower as an Earthshaker and, from what reports we have, roughly the same accuracy margins, as well.
Put together, all of these weapons give Fort Ko'Var a potent array of long-range fires, with which it can engage both land and air targets with ease. However, there are some hints that at least 1 or 2 of the above-mentioned systems do not have the neccesary ammunition to operate optimally. The SAMs, in particular, most likely do not have a large number of missile reloads; thus, the xenos gunners may be less willing to fire valuable missiles at something they don't perceive as a threat. Pilots, take note.

OTHER INFO:
Based on rebel reports, Fort Ko'Var is normally home to about 20,000 personnel, with 15,000 in garrison and 5,000 patrolling the mountains at any given time. However, based again on the rebel intel we have, this force has a far-larger ratio of Fire Warriors to Auxilia, something like 2 T'au for every 3 Auxilia. From this we can infer that the T'au value this installation just as much as we do, and are invested in defending it.
Unfortunately I can't get much more detailed than that; with the recent retreat of T'au troops all across the north, it could be that Fort Ko'Var is operating on a skeleton crew as manpower is transferred to other sectors, or it could be that it has been heavily reinforced by units retreating there. Therefore, be on your guard and ready to respond to any possible threat, battlesuits, tanks, superheavies, you get the idea.

OTHER DETAILS:
There are a few more things of note that I must make mention of.
First off, back to that water pool. It is located right at the easternmost point of the fort in the 1st Defensive Tier; this might be a tactical weakness in their ability to get fresh water if they were pushed back to the upper tiers, but the estern tip of the Citadel also hangs out past the 2nd Tier, over this pool and extends downward [OOC: think something like the top tier Minas Tirith], enclosing a portion of the water for the final defensive tier's personal usage.
Second, there is the main landing area. While a few smaller landing pads are scattered around the 2nd and 3rd Tiers, Fort Ko'Var's primary landing area is on the northern side of the 1st Tier, both bulging outwards and making a massive indent in the 2nd tier and the Citadel. Originally being designed for Tetrarch Heavy landers, this area is big enough to land a whole squadron of Mantas simultaneously.
Lastly, there is the escape tunnel. As shown by Imperial records, Fort Ko'Var possesses a single passageway buried deep in the mountain, leading to a secret exit somewhere west or south of the fort. However, I am informed that our new-found local allies may hold the answer to it's location, in which case I believe immediate efforts should be made to cut off this last avenure for reinforcement or evacuation.

THE PLAN:
Fort Ko'Var is a stronge defensive position, but not impregnable if approached in the correct manner. Our basic battle plan is simple enough: Task Force Liberation attack from the north, while the Taronian 8th, Praetorian 27th, and elements of the Valyrran 1st attack from the south. We crush the xenos and the traitors between us, and meet in the middle. But that is, of course, more of an outline than an actual plan, and so I'd like to offer my own thoughts on the tactics to be employed.
Fort Ko'Var's 3 defensive Tiers are very different from eachother, and thus will each require a different approach. The 1st Tier has the longest perimeter to coved, and also the least defenses; therefore, we should make our first strike fast and hard, overunning this first obstacle with haste and superior firepower. This has the added benefit of showing the enemy what we are capable of; with the traitor human Auxilia's morale breaking all across Gryllus, we may yet open up further weakpoints by forcing them to accept their inevitable defeat.
The 2nd tier is... somewhat different. Carved from the rocky cliffs themselves, it will not be possible to simply breach it as you would a traditional wall, but this particular facet opens up... another avenue of attack which myself and Major Baxton have been discussing for some time. It is risky, and as of yet we are not completely sure it is pheasible, but I believe we should consider the option of tunneling into the second tier rather assaulting up it.
The Final Citadel, quite frankly, will not be possible to capture quickly, not without a significant commitment of Astartes or other specialist forces. Therefore, unless one of the above is aquired and as much as it pains me to admit it, this final stage, at least, will most likely come to a plain and simple siege. I would recommend attempts be made to negotiate the remaining garrison's surrender and attempt to avoid needlessly wasting Guardsmen lives, but I do not think that this will bear much fruit considering the likelihood of the remaining troops by this stage being predominantly T'au.

"That concludes my briefing on Fort Ko'Var; I hope to see all of you again for our inevitable victory toast in that fortress's command center." Colonel Arvin finished up. "I would also like to give my personal thanks to Colonel Lilzton and TF Liberation, as well Captains Pekala and Vanian's Rebel Companies for providing much of this information."
"Now, with all of that said, I assume you all have questions or comments to make. The floor is now open..."

Living room ideas
Hello! I will receive this sectional next week. I have been looking for a TV unit, preferably floating and maybe a matching coffee table. However, I am undecided what kind of aesthetic I want to create so, I am very overwhelmed with so many options and design ideas. I would appreciate any suggestions from kind internet strangers!
A couple things to keep in mind: - My apartment has very 9 ft ceilings. So I will have to figure out a way to decorate to create a cozy feeling. - The living room and kitchen are open concept. The kitchen colors are grey-red. I don’t know if I should take this into consideration when decorating the living room. Suggestions on this would be helpful as well.
Thank you!

2024.05.14 22:12 Full_Contribution724 I have an idea and I want you to tell me what you think about it?

So I have an idea for a event/contest where you guys get to design a pfp for the subreddit, the contest is simple.
Step one: submit a design in the comments below or post about it, form there I'll take the most populaup voted designs and the people behind them and write them down into a Google doc, the grand total would be 16.
Step two: the designs would then be added to a bracket where they would be voted on by you guys, the players and designs with the most votes wins and they can move on in the bracket while the loser gets eliminated.
Final step: once the winner is decided by the voters their pfp would become the official profile picture of subreddit and the lovers would become a part of the banner to celebrate their victory in making it to the brackets
But please is this a good idea or a terrible one, if it's a good idea, what do you suggest I allow the voting period for, I was thinking 2 weeks or a month sounds fair and reasonable. If not what do you suggest I do for the pfp?

2024.05.14 22:12 Astro14_Switch A lone wizard with a need for gold

Hey guys,
I am currently playing a solo wizard (chaotic good) in a world where magic is frowned upon. He currently is the god of a small town (doesn't have any divine powers, they just view him as their god) and he needs gold to revive some people and hallow the church and outfit his citizens with weapons and what not. The only problem is that our dm doesn't give out much gold for dungeons and such so I need to try and figure out a way to make gold. Before he was using fabricate to make carriages and sell them off but I'd need other ways of making gold. Thanks for any ideas! :)

2024.05.14 22:08 NotNorweign236 Prophecy

Who wants to help me test a prophecy 💀 Tbh I just need group energy It’s one of those lost prophecies, ya know, one of those lost due to racism trying to destroy at least one race just so another could conquer in freedom
Okay, so, do you know what a false prophet is? Usually someone designated a liar through another religion destroying another. Me? I’m multiracial, if anything (get a load of this guy, thinking he’s all that when there’s so many others), there’s prophecies surrounding multiracial people as most “modern” leading prophecies conclude themselves with all races being peaceful with awareness of warfare and such to stop when need be. I got genetic information, that leads to information conglomeration, in the correct circumstances of which I speak, that doesn’t make me a prophet, not to me, plus I don’t claim religion, haha
To me, prophets don’t exist as foresight is natural gift, so if you would like a singular leader designated foresight person for everyone, good luck not having a pawned controlled system, like yeah, leaders are great, but there’s male and female, naturally, otherwise herms, naturally (I will not speak for others as I have not delved that way, I am fine with they/them though so long as they recognize their natural place as to not upset the natural balance and force others into usually unnecessary relationships, but aye, being poly can be fun -or a time waster when no one is mature, not my first choice).
Ok so. Working out the kinks. Foresight has some to do with time travel, the natural form of time travel instead of purely mechanically led. So. I need a group of people. This is a stupid idea just putting online, but due to the government (and others) and how they’ve treated people trying to help others, healthily, in the past, I’m making this public because they also have people working on this. My goal is timeline ordinance, so like everyone 2000 and after can be born still, so no, I will not disperse this information to anyone older than the birth year of 2001 or likely younger than 2008, I am sorry (time travel part not the foresight), but if you do manage to figure, please, be cautious of the information paradox.
If my theory holds correct, the Jesus dude did what I am, or, time is consequential, so there is, regardless, a Jesus figure, or multiple (just not how most think). I will not go further into this part, y’all figure that on your own. I am not claiming to be that guy, just stating theory.
Okay so, I need those in places where they are most likely to be born regardless, as the information paradox can seep memories or lock others in their own and change current events.
We are to not change anything. We may save the lives of those we lost yes, but we risk losing our time frame, this is the point of meditation. We don’t need time terrorists. Our goal is to figure the best probability of keeping everyone alive without stopping others from being born, but don’t worry, if they aren’t born, they still exist.
Emotional health is needed to get anywhere with this so if you’re some regular power hungry person, it won’t work.
Now, the important thing to note, is that you can mind swap with someone doing this, so you can accidental trade bodies, but if the will is strong enough, well, classic “it’s not me but I’m still here if you help me remember and emotional trigger me” if the process works.
In the future, they have some time barriers to stop people from doing this stuff unless they are healthy, so in our current events, they are watching. We can project ourselves through time, our level of awareness designates how. I’ve had this information for a long time so you can’t get rid of me by trying to leave me out, or taking me out now, you seriously have to wait until anyone within my relative time frame, is dead. So the public, use this information to remember.
Obviously I won’t reveal the entire plan since you can clearly think of all of it at this point, should be able to. This is only if I decide to go back, like this is my decision to make, unless someone else remembers. You need to know your psychology, all of it, otherwise you will repeat all of your choices you have made. This is not meant for those who don’t have a will to fight back or stay living for others. This is not meant to be a display of power?
I seek not war but health. I seek not vengeance but an avenger. I seek not lies but the truth. I seek not hate but love. I seek not worship but recognition. I seek not religion but spirit. I seek not fame but fortune. I seek hot hearts willing to sear those who would pain unnecessarily. I seem to seek what most seem to avoid so openly.
To avoid conflict, I will keep this subject to America. Anyone who try’s using this information without contacting me after seeing this hasn’t earned, I earned. Aight, let’s see if my first therapists med recommendations are helpful or if I’m just crazy bc I predicted a 2026-7 war with America the other day and then I got a YouTube notification from Infographics saying “German Intelligence Warns Russian attack on Nato 2026” not even an hour ago. If this post affects anything, in minimal standards, it’s prolonged or sped up, maybe on schedule for some.
Lol let me know who made it through. I will not be accepting obvious non multiracial applicants to avoid racial war. I will not accept anyone affiliated with government protocol unless you straight up tell me how and, or I can clearly see. I will not be sharing my personal information of how I look to avoid fake outs, but I will ask of yours to confirm you’re real about sharing intention. No, I do not have this stuff written into any computer format, it is entirely useless getting information anywhere but here from here on, I have no socials besides YouTube, Xbox and Spotify, and this.
I will continue posting, if I stop for more than a month, something happened, the longer it goes, well, should be obvious given three main options lol
If you get lost, some emotions will make you remember a little bit. Chances are we wont make it, as I am supposed to have a wife in the process for an emotional way finder.

2024.05.14 22:08 Drporkchop1234 Making the best of my Junior Position with no tasks (20m - UK)

Hi All,
For the past year and a half I've been working at a large Telecommunications company in england that offer a Degree Apprenticeship scheme. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a 4 year course where the company pay for your degree, and you spend 4 days a week in the office and 1 day in university lectures. I'm incredibly lucky to have got this job in the first place.
Since the start of my job I've been placed in a team full of apprentices which is a team within a much larger team of frontend and backend developers, all working on the same projects. The most senior people in my team are 1 and 2 years out of their own apprenticeships, with one of these being my line manager.
My first year of employment focused heavily on learning react, through building and maintaining various internal dashboards, portals and tools. This was all organised by a Senior Developer who had been at the company for almost 10 years, so he had a good idea on what to do. The past 6 months since he has left however have been incredibly dry. There is almost 0 work (Including testing & documentation etc.) in the wider team that ends up propagating down into my sub-team - This is a problem that is affecting the more senior members of my sub-team too.
Over the past few months instead of just moaning that there is nothing todo I've tried my best to make the most of the situation. I've realised I'm more interested in backend development so have spent my time learning Go and am now building a Reddit Clone a load of new react libraries I've wanted to learn and building the backend in go whilst learning design patterns and system design. I've also been lucky enough to find a senior-backend developer contact in the wider-team to be a sort of mentor. We've had a few meetings and he's written up lots of knowledge and wisdom for me.
Though, he also doesn't have loads of free time, which means I don't have any opportunity for any of the MR's for my Reddit Clone to be reviewed. Meaning although I am learning, I feel like nobody is evaluating anything, or my progress.
I've also been considering pursuing an AWS certification to gain some cloud knowledge to complement backend development. Would this be worth looking into?
In the longterm, despite me being guaranteed a position here after my apprenticeship completes I can't see myself sticking around here long. I recognise the position I am in, to have what will be 4 YoE at 22, is one that I should take advantage of here. In the interest of my career, does anybody have any advice? Am I best to try and 'leave' my current team and find work from others, or just stick it out and learn as much as I can with the unlimited free time I have at work?
And just for added context, the university side of things I have no issues with - I'm getting consistent 70-95% scores in my assignments and exams.
Thank for any advice in advance :)

2024.05.14 22:07 Altruistic_Engine818 Fleshing out Other unseen NCR Settlements

I thought it would be a fun idea to write out my headcanons for the other, unmentioned settlements/cities in the New California Republic. As a SoCal native, I thought it would also be fun seeing how some notable cities in the region would look in the fallout universe. I’ve only included places in Southern California because I honestly don’t have too much detailed knowledge about central/northern CA cities.
I tried fitting it in with the lore at the time of New Vegas in 2281, but there might be a few mistakes here and there.

San Diego Area

-Camp Pendleton: Controlled by one of the largest Raider groups of SoCal, cutting off entry to the San Diego area from the 5 Freeway. Uses restored Vertiberds, Power Armor, and APCs left over by the Marines after the war. Because of this, they are an extremely valuable target for the Brotherhood of Steel, though they have not launched a full-scale attack due to fears of high casualties. This, along with manpower shortages in the region due to the the situation in the Mojave, has prevented the NCR from conducting operations as well. Many in the San Diego area have discussed creating a temporary alliance between Settlers/NCR, the BOS, and the Temecula Super Mutants, though the feasibility of that seems a bit low.
-Escondido: Settlement located along the former 15 freeway and acts as a trade settlement on the way to San Diego. Population: 400. Facing raider attacks from nearby Camp Pendleton and feeling like they’ve been failed by the NCR, some local leaders have considered asking the Temecula Super Mutants to assist in a joint assault on the camp. Population: 500.
-San Diego: Though one of the founding states of the New California Republic, San Diego, now known as Dayglow, is severely underfunded and underdefended compared to other States. Some say this is because of its distance from the capital, others says its because of continued discriminiation towards Ghouls and Super Mutants who helped found the settlement. Despite this, it still operates as a thriving scrap hub and exports many of the materials used by NCR soldiers, vehicles, and machinery. Many smaller settlements still exist in areas farther from downtown, the most major of which include El Cajon, Chula Vista, and Miramar. The latter is the main NCR facility in the area, and has been requesting additional support from Shady Sands to help defeat the Camp Pendleton Raiders. Though having the threat of Raiders in the northwest as well as threats of increased radiation exposure from the Glow in the northeast, many of these settlements are some of the most advanced in the NCR due to the pre-war governance and technology maintained by the descendants of Vault 72. Located near Balboa Park, Vault 72 is the only known vault in the area. Though initially an experiment vault, like Vault 81 in the Commonwealth, its operations were cut short, in this case after a mutiny against the scientists and Overseer by the inhabitants, many of whom were Ex-military due to the Vault’s close distance to the San Diego Navy Yards. For the next century and a half, Vault 72 acted as a control vault. Eventually, its systems started to fail, and many of its inhabitants exited the vault in search of new settlements, bringing the technology and infrastructure found in the vaults with them. As the New California Republic expands, there have been rumors among NCR soldiers about restoring some of the abandoned Navy ships in the former San Diego harbor, though nothing has been completely confirmed. The Brotherhood of Steel also seeks to acquire former military technology in the area, but has been unable to do so.

Inland Empire

-Riverside: Home to “Rubidoux,” a mid-sized NCR town with a population of about 1,000. Located on the base of Mt. Rubidoux. The Mission Inn, located in the former downtown, is now utilized as an NCR armory and base. Possible plans to rebuild more of downtown have been discussed by local leaders, but not implemented. Vault 54 is located near Rubidoux on the base of Box Springs Mountain. It is a rare control vault with around 800 living citizens, and has been frequently trading with the nearby Rubidoux settlement since its opening in around 2245.
-San Bernardino: Took the most nuclear strikes out of all cities in SoCal’s Inland Empire during the Great War. Due to this, Feral Ghoul encounters are common in the area, though their population has been dwindling in recent years due to Rubidoux settlers and NCR forces slowly clearing up the area, mainly to help caravans from the area safely travel the 215 freeway to reach high desert settlements.
-Temecula: Reclaimed by former Master Super Mutants into a small settlement, population of 50. Do not mind caravans using the former 15 freeway that goes through the city to reach the San Diego area.
-Hemet: Thriving farm town. Decently isolated from the SoCal sprawl, Hemet is relatively sleepy and peaceful. Supplies a decent amount of crops to the IE region. Nothing really interesting about it besides that. Population: 300.

Desert Regions

-Idyllwild: Used as a training ground for NCR soldiers due to its isolation in the mountains.
-Palm Springs: Run by the remnants of the Agua-Caliente, Cabazon, and Morongo Native American Tribes. Due to its strategic prominence, being south of the Mojave and west of Arizona, as well as its proximity to the Idyllwild training grounds and routes to Shady Sands, it has become popular with many NCR higher-ups, many of whom own second homes in the town. Population: 1,000. Vault 93: Located in the foothills of the San Jacinto Mountains. Experimental vault studying the effects of celebrity influence. A dozen celebrities were selected among the 900 civilians who entered the vault, where factions aligning with each of them divided up the leadership inside. No holotapes have been found showing what happened next, though it is to assume that whatever played out led to Vault 93 being opened and vacated. Though considered by the NCR to be repurposed, it sits abandoned, now silently overlooking the Sonoran wastes.

Orange County

-Huntington Beach: Inhabited by the descendants of the Children of the Cathedral, who founded a settlement in what was Huntington Beach after the destruction of the Cathedral in Long Beach and the end of the Unity project in 2162. Though they tend to keep to themselves, there are still some devout Unity believers who kidnap caravans travelling along the former 405 freeway in order to adopt them into the cult and keep the population afloat (They don’t have any FEV to make Super Mutants). Population: 100.
-Irvine: Largely an NCR base centered around the former John Wayne Airport, though there are a decent amount of civilians who have set up shop to cater to the large soldier population. The 452nd Battalion is stationed at the airport, though their numbers have dwindled due to transfers to the Mojave. This has made them unable to respond to the Camp Pendleton Raiders. Population (including soldiers): 2,000.
-San Clemente: A “Ghoul only” settlement ran by wealthy pre-war Ghouls who maintain the area. Despite the exclusivity, it has maintained a population of over 1,000 mainly by bringing in other Ghouls from Orange County and the surrounding area. Mainly keeps to themselves though they accept caravans for trade, though less have been showing up due to the threat of the Camp Pendelton Raiders.

Fruitiger Metro Inspired Vinyl Figures!
Hello! I'm OneDude, but on most of my other socials, I go by 8boole_. Haven't used Reddit for a while, so apologies if this post's format turns out strange!
For the past few months, I've been working on establishing a line of vinyl art figures dedicated to showing off the Fruitiger Metro style. The many facets of the Fruitiger umbrella of art styles are deeply nostalgic to me, as I'm sure they are to most of you too; I can't recall a time in my childhood where I could avoid seeing any semblance of them out in public anyways, and maybe that was for the better. If only we knew of the rising corporate art styles we'd eventually see back then. In any case, the sudden re-interest of Fruitiger Metro threw me back into the loop of appreciating it, and while noticing the boom of collector culture and art toys that's come about in the last few years, I decided to combine the two!
As it stands, my idea has been work shopped meticulously, and takes inspiration from most of the trademark features of Metro (paint splattering, ripples of colour, comic book dithering, etc.). Other aspects from popular media (such as Domo-kun and Julius the Monkey) and clothing styles (huge headphones, baggy skater pants, and vibrant neon colours) from the late 2000's and early 2010's will heavily influence the run of these figures, especially the one featured in the reference sheet in this post.
Speaking of, the red figure in the reference sheet (dubbed internally as V0x), is the first of this line of collectible art toys, which as a whole, currently nameless. Though the design has been a bit outdated for a while now, I've been working closely with a large production team these past few months to bring this character to real life. We are very close to finalizing the sample of this figure, so I'll keep the subreddit posted in case there's some interest with this idea, and what comes of it! Its gonna be cool, trust.
Soooo yeah! Feel free to comment what y'all think! This is a very real thing that's happening, and It'd be cool to know what the general consensus for interpreting Fruitiger Metro through vinyl figures is. Would love to hear feedback!

V0x reference sheet, lmk what you think :D

Some really rough concept doodles...

2024.05.14 22:03 jonaslorander Failing drives

Hi,
I built a new server a month ago, new CPU (i5 13500), mobo and RAM. Reused a PSU I had laying around and moved over my four HDDs (1 is parity) and SSD cache. Everything works really smooth.
Then last week I decided that everything was working stable enough to buy new HDDs and start replacing them. My old drives are three 10 year old (or so) 3 TB WD Red drives, and one even older 1 TB WD Red.
I reputable company here in Sweden had a discount on Toshiba N300 8 TB drives so I bought three of them and started replacing the 3 TB drives, one by one. Finally I replaced the 1 TB drive with a 4 TB WD Red I saved from my old NAS.
Everything work fine for three days, then the first Toshiba drive fails, completely dead. I tried it with different SATA cables in different computerns with both Linux and Windows, but the drive isn't detected by any combination. Ok, bad drive, I return it and get a Seagate Ironwolf 8 TB, takes three tries to rebuilt it but I get it to be completey rebuilt without data loss. At the same time I decide to buy new SATA cables for all four HDDs and the SSD. Everything works fine.
Then, today, the partiy Toshiba N300 is showing incresed Reallocated Sector Count and Current Pending Sector count. Both are well over 300 at the moment. I run an extended SMART on this drive and get the result "Interrupted (host reset)" in combination with a disable drive. 271 hours uptime, what the hell?
These two bad drives are from the same batch in February this year, the third one is from March.
The only thing I havn't replaced at this point is the PSU. Would it be a good idea to do that? At the moment the server is shutdown, incase the last Toshiba decides to die on me too. Everything important is backed up.
Not sure what I'm asking here but could it be anything in my setup that is causing this to happend? Is it just bad luck? Can I do anything to rectify the errors on the drive?
Specs:
Thankful for any assistance!

2024.05.14 22:02 vaendaewl 4th Album Cover Design

Hey folks! It is I once again, and I've been working on an album cover design for ST's fourth album based on my conception thesis.
The design/motive came to me in a very clear vision and it was extremely elaborative. I've got different versions for it. Not sure what to do with them though. I haven't considered sending them out to the ST band, management or label because I've already sent them some of my work and hit granite (pun intended).
Got any ideas? x

2024.05.14 22:00 VivaldiVerao Body of the unidentified Brazilian woman who spent 24 years in a coma is buried

Edit: Original post was deleted due to being a repost. Check the first post here. This is an update post https://www.reddit.com/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/1bfnp5o/unknown_woman_is_hit_by_a_car_and_has_lived_in_a/
Clarinha has been buried at Maruípe Municipal Cemetery today, May 14th, at 1:45 PM. Her funeral was attended by hospital staff who took care of her. Coronel Jorge Potratz, the doctor who watched over her during these last 24 years stated "It is a great relief to close this chapter, allow her spirit to rest properly. The cycle is closing, but her story remains open." He placed a white rose in her hands before the casket was closed.
She'll have a tombstone with her picture, the name "Clarinha" and a bible verse that still has not been choosen.
My write-up on the case:
Okay, so it's my first write-up here. I had always wondered why Jane/John doe cases were so famous in English speaking countries, while here in Brazil lots of unindentified people pass away everyday and no one bats an eye. We don't even have a name like "Jane doe" for those people, I think.
Well, there's a notorious case of an unindentified woman who passed away recently that caught my attention. On June 12th, 2000, a woman who had been hit by a car was brought to São Lucas State Hospital in Vitória, Espírito Santo state. It was lovers' day in Brazil (our version of Valentine's) and she was a white woman who didn't have any form of identification on her. I wish I could find more details on the incident, but I can't. She was rescued by an ambulance and was uncouncious when she got to the hospital, and spent the next 24 years that way.
It was noted she had a c-section scar, which meant she had had at least one child, but no one ever came to look for her. They tried to identify her so she could receive some sort of pension, but they weren't able to. On the next year, she was transfered to the Military Police Hospital and has been there ever since, under the care of Dr. Jorge Potratz, and has been named Clarinha by hospital staff. Dr. Jorge had been taking care of her as if she's his own daughter, paying for personal care items for her with his own money. Besides that, Brazil's Unified Health System allowed her to be hospitlized for the past 24 years without anyone having to pay for her healthcare. She didn't need any kind of life support besides a feed tube due to problems in swallowing caused by the accident. A doctor noted that in the scale for comas, which goes up to 15, she's around 7 or 8.
On 2016, TV show Fantástico did a segment about her, which brought the attention to the case. Several missing people families came from all over the country to check on her, but it was no success. A woman from Minas Gerais state thought she could be her missing sister. Her sister left the town of Ipanema on 1999 stating she was going to sell clothes. She left all her documents and 2 kids behind. It wasn't her.
They tried to take her fingerprints, but since her hands remained closed as a result of the accident, her fingertips got all roughed up and they were unable to get a clear print. Norma, a nurse who took care of her, said she called the name of a missing person who was thought to be her and Clarinha opened her eyes for a moment, the article doesn't specifies but I think it was proven it wasn't her.
Clarinha passed away on March 14th, 2024 after sufferig bronchoaspiration (no idea of what it is). They think she was around 40 or 50 years old. The police compared her DNA and figerprints to 12 missing people cases and found no match. Dr. Jorge Potratz took care of all the legal requirements for her to not be buried as an unindentified person.
Personal comments I have regarding the case:

2024.05.14 22:00 AllanDaemon How to do first person present with informations the characted doesn't know

I'm just starting to write. This is my first book, and the idea is a very cliché LGBTQ YA romance. The question maybe lame, IDK.
I want to do it in the first person present; that fits very well with the book idea. But sometimes, I want to include things that the main character doesn't know at the time but will know later.
Example: The main character is annoyed with another person and thinks he dislikes it, but he actually is in love with the person, but he doesn't know it yet or would never admit it.
Those would be facts that aren't that important and the story itself would eventually show, such as being in love with someone, but for small things that you won't be able to tell later, and without the information, the passage feels weird or doesn't work.
A real exemple from my story: A entitled boy visits a relative's farm. He looks down many things with a snob air because he is better than those people and that place, but inside he starts to love, without realising, the place and its poorness. Without the part he is not consciously aware of, he just a entitled brat with nothing to sympathize. This bit that he is unaware of shows the character development in motion.
The issue is that when I'm using it, it doesn't feel right. I don't know how to reconcile the first-person present voice with these bits of extra information.
