I've already made a rant long ago shitting on the CIS Wankers (or Clankers or whatever their nickname is supposed to be), so I guess it's now time to dunk on the Republic and maybe the Empire fanboys eventually.
Now, this rant is as opposed to the previous one not dunking on the Faction itself, but rather debunking a common claim you can witness in the Youtube Comment section: That the Republic would have done better than the Empire in fighting the civil war (The OT one, not the Prequel one) and that's a load of bullcrap.
The common arguments of the people making this claim are: 1st The Republic has a more competent leadership 2nd The Republic has a better standing army
Now to the first claim, it's complete bollocks for the simple reason there never was a leadership change during the transition from the Republic to the Galactic Empire. Most of the staff like Tarkin, Palpatine, Yularwn and all the other Middle managers were already in power during the Prequels. The only noteable change was the eradication of the Jedi with Order 66, but I doubt it was a serious damage to the Military leadership considering the Jedis being arrogant and incompetent the most times. For every General Skywalker (who also joined the Empire), Kenobi or Plo Koon you get ten idiots who are better left off leading younglings rather than an entire Clone battalion, yet alone a whole Legion. Now it's undeniable that the middle management of the Empire more often than not corrupt and incompetent, but you have to remember, these were the same guys who served or would have served in the Clone Wars and that was a vital thematic point of the Prequels and the clone wars series, the Republic being a corrupt and missamanaged goverment which became the Empire already before they officially named themselves this way.
This leads me to the 2nd argument Republic Fans often use, that being the supposed disparity of the Military equipment between the Empire and the Republic. And to some extent its true, the Clones were superior to the Stormtroopers, their DC 15 and DC 15s blasters were more capable and versatile than the E-11, both their phase 1 and Phase 2 armors were superior to the Mass prodcued Stormtrooper counterpart, but here's the thing: The Stormtroopers for most of the war were sufficient enough, they were not fighting standing militaries, but poorly equipped, trained and led rebell cells with absolute efficiency. Their armor and blasters didn't need to be capable, because they were not fighting war machines like Droidakas or B2 Battle droids, but mostly people whose guns could barely knock down a stormtrooper. Those firearms we see used by the rebells in the movies are not some scrap rifles, those are actual military grade firearms (I know militsry grade in real life doesn't equal quality, but the star wars universe operates on different rules) often superior to those of the stormtroopers. Calling the armor of the stormtroopers useless because it fails to protect in 1% of all of the situations is like calling the lasgun from Warhammer 40K weak because it cannot kill Space Marine. Technically true, but its more likely a random rebelling farmer without any armor will be hit by it than anything else. And if I'm already at it, the remark Rex said in the Rebells series which is often cited by the People the rant is directed to is supposed to be taken with a grain of salt. Stormtroopers can see through their helmets, they just need the access code for it to work which Rex couldn't know because he knocked the original Wearer of the armor out.
But also generally, the Empire didn't phase out Republican Equipment because they were stupid. Again, the Empire comprised of peopme who experienced and learnt from the Seperatist war. And one thing they learnt is that xlone troopers were not worth the cost. Sure a clone does the work of 2 to 3 stormtroopers, but the costs and time it takes to create and train a clone equals to the time and costs it takes to abduct hundreds of random children from their home planets and train them to stormtroopers and Billions of people who voluntarly join the Imperial Army (they were seperste from the Stormtroopers). What use is a 3 man army if you can deploy millions of people simultaniously in every corner of the galaxy which is what the Empire struggled more with: Projection of Power. As already said, Stormtroopers were more than sufficient to take out rebell cells, the only problem was to have stormtroopers on every corner of imperial Territory. I also wanna add that the additional purchase of 5 mio. would have bankrupted the Republic according to this one episode of Clone wars where Senator Padme Amidala advocated against this very purchase. Together with the 6 mio. clones who actually served this are 11 mio. clones. To hold and secure the majority of a galaxy bigger than our milky way.
Another piece of equipment frequently overrated by Republic fans is the Venator class ship, which is often compared and held in higher regard than the Imperial Class Star destroyer. The argument for it being that the Empire struggled with Small fighters like X-Wings for example more to which the Imperial Class ST was not really efficient against while the Venator could could many more ships which were better suited for the job. An Imperial Class Star destroyer from my memory holds about 40-70 tie fighters. And while Tie Fighters were indeed inferior to X-Wings the capabilities of their pilots were certainly not. The Empire never struggled with numbers, in fact id had so many fighters because its main fighter, that being the ties, were cheap and quick to produce and maintain. And despite their lack of shields they usually dominated their respective fields, we as the aufience just don't get to see it because the Star wars movies are from the perspective of the specific Rebells who by the story and writer were designed to win. In other words: PLOT ARMOR The Imperial Ties defeated most Rebell fighters with ease, heck even in the movies where the rebells often won they proved to be a threat, taking out many rebell X-wings in the process. And even with all the fighters the Venator class ship can hold, it couldn't fit the doctrine of the Empire anyway. It's the projection of force again, small fighters may win the dogfight, but the battle is won by the bigger ships and the Venator with its terrible arament sucked at it, which is why the Imperials, and I say again, which were the same people who have seen and deployed Venators replaced it with something more sufficient. And contrary to popular belief the ISD Star destroyer was sufficient. It was the perfect ship for the empire. A single Star destroyer could field barely enough tie fighters to fend off most rebell squadrons, enough firepower to overpower any smaller fleet, enough firepower and stormtroopers to capture a small planet and enough armor to take on ships of its one size. A Venator couldn't do it, at least not alone. And the Empire would have needed Venators all over the galaxy.
TL/DR: The Empire was made up of the same people who ruled the Republic. Furthermore the decisions the Empire made were usually rational or at least justified from their perspective. Therefore saying that the Republican Army could have won the civil war bdcause they were superior is stupid. The Empire not only fielded at least 10 times the fire- and manpower of the Republic, the civil war they fought was lost for other reasons, not military defeats which were more like the final nail of the coffin.

Frisco ISD has wasted enormous amounts of money. In 2018 they received $691 million as a bond, they wasted it. In 2014 they received a $775 million bond. They bought digital whiteboards for every teacher. They have computers for every student in every class, then gave them laptops.
They have been over paying minority teachers using the stipend, and they're not doing their job.
They have illegally used school resources medaling in elections, which they're being sued by the state.
Now they have a deficit of $31 million. We need to clean house at Frisco ISD this next round of elections.

"Work-to-rule" is essentially one step before a full-on strike- Teachers start working at their contractually-agreed upon start time and leave and their end time. They do not take any work (such as grading or planning) home with them, and music concerts occur during the school day and not the evening.
Burnsville teachers have been working without a contract during this entire school year (over 300 days) and the school district is offering a 0% pay raise over the next two years. You read that correctly: The district is saying that teachers should be working without a pay increase until at least the end of the 2026 school year. By contrast, ISD#196 (Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan, a bordering district) settled with their teachers back in February for a 4% increase this year and another 4% increase next year. Minneapolis just settled, but we won't know what they settled for until their contract is approved.
With inflation, a 0% pay raise is basically a pay cut.
I'm just putting this out there because nothing about this will be in the news until the union actually authorizes a strike, which won't happen this spring or summer. If you're thinking about moving to or applying for a job in #191, keep in mind that this is how the district treats their teachers.

Hi all,
my dad has around $50k on CC and LOC debt and building.
He can't pay that. He is getting weaker both mentally and physically.
He owns a house with my mom, his share value would come off to be around $70k if sold now (the house is owned by three owners 70% b/w him and my mom). This is about all the wealth he has. He has no job, no work, no nothin. (The house is put for sale right now, don't know would it affect anything if applied for consumer proposal now). He also owns a car with my mom that is on finance and about $10k is left on payments.
Don't know where to begin or if he would need bankruptcy or consumer proposal. I have been watching some videos online (https://ised-isde.canada.ca/site/office-superintendent-bankruptcy/en/you-owe-money/submitting-consumer-proposal-your-creditors) like this.

Just to preface this; I’m so glad that this sub exists because I don’t think I’ve ever met anybody in the field in person, so it’s been hard to get any substantial information or perspective anywhere outside of the internet.
In just a couple weeks I will be graduating with my Bachelor’s degree in Education (lol I know) but am directly pursuing my master’s in Instructional Technology, as well as interning with a defense contractor as an ISD over the summer helping develop simulation courses for the Navy. I got absolutely blessed with the opportunity considering I have no formal experience or education in ISD, but the company decided to take a chance on me because I (apparently) rocked my interview through being personable and harping on the fact that I am willing to learn and work as hard as possible.
I guess I’m just here asking for some tips and feedback on all of the steps I should be taking to enhance my knowledge and skills outside of the classroom and office. I have this paranoia about getting hired to my first job and sucking / not knowing what I’m doing.
TLDR: Suffering from extreme imposter syndrome and would like to curb it as best I can.

So awhile ago I made a post called "if you had your own Planetary defence force how would you compose you starfighter corps?" That proved to be popular so I've decided to make a sequel post "if you had your own Planetary defence force how would you compose your fleet?". Same rules as before if you were organising your own Planetary defence force with any ships excluding extremelly rare or one off types. With the lack of any other limitations limiting your imagination. With the option of using elements from any period in Star wars canon or legends contininuity with any ship avaliable, structures, personal limitations, galactic events etc.

Fleet allocated to my bases on my planet's surface:
So last time I mentioned how some of my fighters in my starfighter corps would launch from the ground to space I've decided to do the same with some elements of my fleet. The two vessels I would have stationed on ground are cr90 corvettes and lancer class frigates due to both being great anti fighter vessels. As I stated in my last post my fighters on ground are designed to be first responders to a situation in my planet's atmosphere or the rear defence of my in orbit fleet. The benefit of the lancer and cr90 is while the are great at shredding fighters they also have a fast response time and low crew requirements that work when they are suddenly called to action without 100% of their crew on board. The system I would have for these vessels is in a scenario where a fighter is trying to escape orbit 2 cr90s and 2 lancers would be deployed with each other in a way that hides them in the swarms of fighters that have been launched to land hits on my fleeing enemies. If it was a group of fighters entering my planet's atmosphere I would have the lancers stay still while my cr90s move up towards by planet's orbit to force the enemy fighters to disperse into the firing line of my lancers. Cr90s would be based in airbases across my planet with my fighters due to there small size while Lancers would be stationed at bases large enough to hold my fleet for repair duties. The command structure of my ground vessels is merely if there is a threat you have permission no mater the severity to launch and destroy. With each vessel being independent though in some case they might respond to a vessel that has a higher clearance of leadership.
Fleet in orbit:
My fleet in orbit would compose of a few venators, victory 1s, tectors, captor crusiers, diamond crusiers, dreadnoughts and assault frigates mk 1. Firstly my diamond crusiers would serve as my orbit anti fighter arsenal at the start of battles until lancers and cr90s from my ground bases launch into orbit. Their job is to prevent bombers from critically damaging my star destroyers. Secondly my dreadnought and assault frigates mk 1 would be in front of my star destroyers targeting smaller enemy ships and would be a vanguard against vessels trying to slip past my fleet. I've chosen to have captor cruisers in my fleet becuase of their cargo space which cna be converted to hangars to launch multiple fighters while being able to provide cover fire to my dreadnoughts and assault frigates. Now my tectors and victory 1s would provide a barrage of fire that would help lower the shields of enemy fleets and cause damage to unshielded vessels while being able to destroy enemy support ships. Finally my venators would be modified with weaponry to be able to go one on with ISD 2s while launching swarms of fighters as they are the best capital ships imo. Now for my fleet strategy it is simple one designed to use limited resources and prevent minimal casualties in a battle. The strategy that would be used is a strategy that forces enemy fleets to send their fleet in short waves and be out of firing range of my fleet due to the risk of getting simultaneously barraged by my fleet. Now command structure of my fleet is very simple as all my ships would respond to a single admiral in charge of most of my fleets decisions with possible independence given to certain vessels in my fleet if given permission.

When we started, I was honest about xxxxxx's behavioral problems. I tried to be proactive. I sent an email stating xxxxx needed to be evaluated. The previous school wanted to evaluate xxxxxx but ran out of time. I may have used 504. But again, these are educators, and they should know what I'm asking. It is obvious to ANY OTHER educators I talked to that she needed to be in Sped/504. I explained that I had no knowledge but would do what I needed to get her tested. The school called every day, if not every other day, asking xxxxxx to be picked up. I gave them grace the first week. The second week, the school was constantly rescheduling the 504 meetings and still calling, not even trying to figure out what was triggering these fits. While xxx did throw fits at her other school, it was NEVER this often or extreme. They even told me she was self-harming, which was very alarming for me. The Principal called, asking for pick up. I asked her why she was getting worse if they knew what was triggering these fits, and why she wasn't doing her job to figure out why. Principal Edwards was yelling on the verge of cussing me out. I have never heard/seen an educator act like this before. End of the day, Ms. Edwards was not doing her job because she did not care to get to know xxxxx; I do not deserve to be cussed out because she got her feelings hurt. It's the truth, and I stand by it. I could tell Ms. Edwards knew she messed up by how overly nice she was when I went to the school to pick xxxxx up. Ms. Edwards wanted to have a meeting, so I went along even though I expressed it was the wrong time. Edwards asked for triggers. I explained why I asked for an evaluation; xxxx hardly acts out at home, so I can't give you the answers. One of the special education women set up an appointment for an evaluation again. Ms. Edwards led me to a room where xxxxxx had been alone for a while. I was already stressed out and didn't think about it until later that xxxxxxx was alone. I received a call the next day, and the school cancelled the meeting again and their reason why was because I did not have a diagnosis( I know this is bs now), and there was nothing they could do for xxxxxx. I was so frustrated. It became very self-evident that Ms. Edwards made it a habit to leave xxxxxx alone for long periods of time when xxxxx did not get off the bus the second Friday. I called the school and asked why xxxxx did not get off the bus. They put me on hold, and it was getting closer to 17 minutes, and I started to panic. I thought xxxxxx might have got on the wrong bus because they switched school buses that day. I knew xxxxx would be scared if she got on the wrong bus; even though she looks like an average child, she can't always express big emotions, and it is very stressful for her and can cause big outbursts. I finally disconnected and called again, and they put me on hold. The longer they left me on hold, the more stressed I became. After another 5-10 minutes, they finally told me xxxxx was at the school she left behind due to her having a fit and being left and forgotten in a room. I reached out to Mackee in hopes of getting help for xxxxx. Where he did say it was my fault for not getting a diagnosis, and they can't do anything if I can't pay for all the testing xxxxx needs. My expectations were too high. They are a new school and don't have sped/504 set up. I now speculate they had nothing set up and had NO education on sped/504. I asked him for a transfer to their other location, and he kept asking why. It was an odd question. I told him the location was not ready for a child like xxxx, who needs help now. That takes strong communication skills, and Ms. Edwards has NO communication skills. She has a reputation for it. It was almost like Makee was begging for us to stay. I kept asking why. Ms. Edward and the school are not a good fit. Why force us to be here? I just wanted to go to another location; I wasn't trying to leave Austin Achieve. I asked why the school kept calling for early pick-ups and leaving xxxx alone in rooms. Especially since she self-harms. He kept saying, for safety reasons, and when I stated well, isn't it a safety concern to leave her unattended when she self-harms? And Mackee, stop replying. Because there really is no good answer to that question, is there Mackee? I called xxxxx's doctor and set her up for testing and a payment plan. The doctor's office emailed paperwork asking xxxxxx's teacher to fill it out and bring it to the appointment. With the paperwork, we could start treatment right away. I got on the Dojo app and messaged xxxx's teacher to ask if she could complete the paperwork. I told her I knew it was at the last minute, and she could say no, but it would be helpful for xxxxxx's appointment. Her teacher agreed, and I told her I had put it in her backpack. I should have known something was up because she later stated she couldn't find it. There are only so many pockets in a backpack. I told her fine, I'll go drop it off. I dropped it off at the front office, and I could see Ms. Edwards watching me, but she didn't say anything. I went to pick it up, and the front office receptionist told me Ms. Edwards says we can't fill it out because you are transferring. I asked why Ms. Edwards couldn't have called and told me this herself. Ms. Edwards, you knew this would be upsetting news, and you set your staff up for failure. You showed me what kind of leader you are. Tommy told me they would only fill it out if I agreed to stay. I asked him why it mattered if we wanted to be transferred to their sister site. I want answers to why your staff kept forcing me to stay when it was not a good fit. I called Mackee, who told me it was all in my head. They weren't out to get me, but he would try to get the paperwork. It was an odd thing to say. He later said it would be waiting in the front office. I told him I would have to pick it up before the appointment, which was an inconvenience for me now. I asked Mackee why Ms. Edwards couldn't call herself, and she told me she was refusing to fill out the paperwork; Mackee stated Ms.Edwards didn't have time for communication, and we were just lucky she was helping xxxxxx. I told him I never asked for her help, and it takes less time to call me than me going to the school and causing a scene. For both of you, COMMUNICATION IS NEEDED as a principal. Mackee, I never understood why you needed to lie/gaslight to make these situations seem normal. I tried to pick it up before the appointment, but they didn't have it. I messaged Makee, stating it was still not ready. For a school trying to force us to stay, they went out of their way not to help xxxxx. By then, I was very weirded out by this school and started to call around to get some options. I was in contact with a woman through a program I found online, and she would help me contact the TEA, even though she knew xxxxx needed help. She stated she had a contact at Austin Achieve and would call them. She did make contact with Ashcon. AndAshton did call me. Ashton explained xxxx qualified for help through SPED, not 504. I asked why the Pflugerville location gave me a hard time and why they did not know the difference between 504/sped as educators. He said he was at a loss but would talk to John. He told me to contact him if I could get a diagnosis. Which I was able to do even with no help from the school. I then called the school and asked for a transfer to their other location, and I called every day with no answer or update. The girls did not attend school Monday and Tuesday due to doctor appointments to get xxxxx a diagnosis. I did not want the girls to return to school, but I desperately wanted to transfer to go through and knew they could not keep missing school, so against my better judgment, I sent them to school. I went to pick them up at the bus stop. They were not on the bus nor around the bus stop. I went straight to the school, where I found Tommy and told him my kids did not get off the bus. He had a walkie-talkie and asked all the buses if they had extra passengers. He told me they were not lost, just misplaced, but he could not confirm if the extra passengers were my kids. I didn't say anything, but I knew they were making excuses. Austin Achieve Pflugerville staff member NEVER lifted a finger to track my kids down. Even though it was their mistake. It took so long that the rest of my family started to show up because it took so long. My sister-in-law asked Ashcon, who was able to track down my kids. Makee, you claim the Pflugerville wasn't out to get me. Then why did they stand by and do nothing? The staff tried to blame recent bus changes, and I told them they had gone into effect long ago; that's not the reason. Tommy, at first, allowed us in the lobby. My sister-in-law started to ask questions. It came out that Tommy had canceled my transfer request, and my sister-in-law was asking more questions about why they would do that without communicating it with the parents. Ms. Edwards, who was not involved at this point, came in. I told them I wanted this conversation to end because I could tell by Ms. Edward's body language that she was ready to fight. I just wanted my kids back. Ms. Edwards yelled fine, then get out. Zeele pretty much shoves us all out the door. That day, Zeele had an attitude and thought this situation was funny. He was staring and laughing, making faces. The girl's dad was trying to show them the text with the bus changes that took place weeks ago, and Mr. Zeele attempted to hit him. Even though Mr. Zeele was the aggressor, they still called the cops. Almost 3 hours later, the bus finally came back. They were both red and in tears. I was the first one to get them. The staff never reached out to make sure they were okay. xxxx had a panic attack and almost passed out from the heat on the bus, and the little one found a water bottle with a bit of water left and gave it to her. They both had a heat rash all over. I asked the girls what happened. The girls said they tried to tell the staff they were on the wrong bus, but the staff would not listen, and they forced them on the wrong bus. I believe the school did this on purpose to get a reaction from me, and that day they did win. I kept asking the girl's dad why this was happening, and it was all pointless. He looked at me and said it was because she was racist. I must have given him a funny look because he went on. He had gone to pick up xxx, and Ms. Edwards and Zeele were making fun of a little girl who only speaks Spanish, saying I don't talk that fake crap. At that time, I did not believe him. Despite my disdain for Ms. Edwards, she is an educated woman. I would never imagine a marginalized group doing that to another marginalized group. Did I hear rumors that Ms.Edwards was trying to turn Pflugerville into a black empowerment school? Yes. Did I hear she was horrible to employees who were not black. . .Yes. But I thought she was a proud black woman; there is nothing wrong with that. However, Austin Achieve has nothing to say about being a black empowerment school in its mission or vision statement. However, it has become very apparent she does not want the Latino community at her school, and I see it all the time on Facebook and other social media. It's a revolving door of more marginalized families leaving Austin Achieve Pflugerville. Ms. Edwards is not helping African Americans by favoring them and mistreating other communities. I used to be involved in the Black Lives Matter movements. The girls went to a predominantly black daycare. I was vocal in social injustice situations. The faculty's actions made me step back entirely. When the girls returned to school, their new SAFE school, I was in the parent pick-up line. There was a teacher who looked just like Ms. Edwards, and I had a panic attack. It took me months to trust African American educators with my kids again. I believe Ms. Edwards picks on the Latino community because she knows they won't do anything about it. I am here to educate that despite my last name being Rodriguez, I will do everything possible to share my story to keep children away from Ms. Edwards and the rest of the staff at Austin Achieve. The staff will end up killing a child out of indifference and mistreatment of non-black kids. Half of my extended family works at the other location, so I got to hear all of the rumors staff was spreading. And no, Mr. Zeele, no one went to jail. You are aggressive and don't follow accommodation, and I'm not sure why you speak so brazenly with your history. You know what is ghetto, Zeele? Excessively talking down about ghetto people when you work for a school that targets low-income students. That says more about you and your wife's character than mine. While sharing this situation with others, I didn't even have to mention your name, and everyone knew you were the staff member trying to fight parents. John, I tried communicating with you, and you did not want to hear it. Was it because it was about your favorite staff members? The ones you're willing to fire good employees over? Risk your career over? Remember all that bullying trying to get me alone with all the abusers and changing meeting times? Then you pretended you had no idea about all this when I went to the Board? I tried to go to you, but you wanted to protect people who would sell you out in a heartbeat. I guarantee any of them will sell you out to get ahead of you. I went to the Board hoping for justice, but I got a $200 check that somehow was supposed to cover all the expenses I spent to send the girls to Austin Achieve, and the staff is good people talk. Good people don't harm kids, regardless of race or any of your made-up reasons. Reasonable people would turn in those abusers. John, you continuously choose Abusers/adults who know better OVER CHILDREN. And I NEVER heard of a staff member getting a promotion after trying to fight a parent. During the board meeting, Ms. Edwards, you tried to lie outright. you admitted to asserting yourself in the last situation you knew nothing about. Again, I have NEVER seen an educator act like you. To be blunt, I find it hard to believe you actually have a degree in education because you certainly do not act like it. You wanted to say it was bus changes, lack of communication, etc. I was able to disprove all your lies. You all turned my life upside down, and I can't even get an apology? I know you have not learned your lesson at Ms. Edwards. You doubled down and continued with all your decisions/actions. Down to unenrolling xxxxx as not needing 504 Services. None of you should be educators, and I have more passion/love for kids in my pinky toe than all of you combined. You want to act like it's just business, not a school. But that isn't going very well for any of you either. Right? Didn't you guys suffer recent layoffs because of low enrollment rates? FYI, you have low enrollment rates because you have HORRIBLE staff. Ms. Edwards did this all in plain sight of other parents. I know for a fact parents saw all this happen and left the school. I'll try to answer some questions because I know Austin Achieve WILL lie. The girls attended for three weeks and three days exactly. No, they never tried to figure out why xxxxx was having outbursts. The school made her outbursts way worse. Yes, she told me she was regularly left alone for long periods. They never got her even close to being tested. If they tell you anything different, it's a LIE. Bus Switches were NEVER a reason why they were lost. No, Austin Achieve has not set up any effective rules or regulations to stop any of this from happening again; they lost another kid recently. I gave a diagnosis and medical paperwork to Ahscon. Why was that not communicated to Pflugerville? I'm not sure. I'm not sure why he couldn't call the Pflugerville location to tell them xxxxx qualified for 504. I bet that would have made things easier. They offered no support services, and I doubt they had any. Ashton, while I am grateful you tracked my girls down when they were lost, we both know the school needs to be held accountable for its actions. None of this is okay. Your staff saw all this happen and did nothing. I am currently trying to overcome the overwhelming fear that this is what my daughters will face for the rest of their lives. People will be cruel to them because of their disabilities and or because they are Hispanic. That fear is sometimes overwhelming, and I can't get out of bed. Or I want the girls to stay by my side. Hi, I am a single late-20s teacher who has an opportunity to be a coach of an academic team in a Plano ISD high school (likely Plano West or Plano Senior) as well as teach that subject full-time. In my current position, I coach the academic team exclusively after school in addition to my full-time SPED teaching job, so this would likely be a step up in job satisfaction.
However, as a serious overthinker who would be uprooting and moving all the way from the Midwest, I want to gather as much information as I can.

• Plano and surrounding areas have a high cost of living. Is it possible for a relatively young teacher to live off the lower end of the salary scale? I would live in an apartment.
• Anything specific to know about teaching that's unique to Plano ISD or Texas as a whole? Would I likely be supported well by admin and given autonomy?
• How academically focused are the students (generally speaking)? I know that's a major generalization -- all districts have high achievers and diverse learners -- but the district I currently teach at has one of the lowest graduation rates in the state and preposterously high chronic absenteeism. How much of that persists in Plano ISD?

Background:
On October 30, 2012, Bethany Deaton, a 27-year-old nurse and newlywed was found dead in the back seat of her parked minivan near Longview Lake in Kansas City, Missouri. She had a plastic bag over her head, tied at her chin, and there was an empty Tylenol bottle in the center console. In addition to a hastily written suicide note full of grammatical errors, there was a stack of incomplete wedding "Thank you" notes found in the vehicle. Three months earlier, Bethany had married her college sweetheart and a fellow member of her religious group, Tyler Deaton. She had also recently finished nursing school and was just beginning her career. Bethany's parents, and many of her friends, refused to believe that she had committed suicide insisting that self-harm was not in her nature, and that the suicide note was uncharacteristic because her writing was typically impeccable and meticulous.
Suspicions of murder:
Although the suicide note appeared to rule out a homicide, investigators suspected foul play after surveying the scene. They noted that Bethany's eyes were still open (something not often seen in pill overdoses) and that the bag over her head had been partially aspirated into her mouth. Their suspicions were soon confirmed when another member of her religious group, Micah Moore, turned himself in to the police claiming to have drugged and strangled Bethany under the direction of her husband, Tyler.
Allegations of a cult:
The religious group Bethany and Tyler belonged to called themselves The Community, and it consisted of recent college graduates that had moved from Georgetown, Texas where they had attended Southwestern University. The group formed as an informal prayer and worship group amongst friends, and while in college, Tyler become the group's de facto worship leader. Tyler played the piano, insisted the group become more zealous in expressing their faith on campus, and professed to having supernatural powers and visions. The Community's supernatural powers were seemingly confirmed on several occasions, including an incident where they allegedly predicted the accidental death of a rival student on campus. As the group became more radical, Tyler claimed to speak for God and shared visions that the group was going to bring about the second coming of Christ - as long as members remained faithful.
The influence of religion:
The group began mirroring their worship practices after a charismatic, apostolic church called IHOP (the International House of Prayer) headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. Tyler convinced more than 20 students to move to Kansas City to be close to IHOP and follow the church's teachings. Once there, Tyler attended IHOP leadership classes and members rented two houses to prepare themselves for the second coming of Christ. Eventually, Tyler became more controlling and manipulative. He demanded more extreme displays of devotion from the members, including money pooled from their jobs to support his ministry, 24-hour prayer circles, and shunning of individual members who disobeyed him. After receiving a revelation from God, Tyler decided he should marry Bethany. In an interview with CBS 48 hours, Tyler admitted that he and Bethany never consummated their marriage and that Bethany became depressed as a result. At one point, she was admitted to a mental hospital after expressing suicidal ideations, though Tyler admits he never shared this information with her family. Members of the group later claimed that Tyler instituted group-wide shunning of Bethany because of her depression and insistence that Tyler have sex with her. Meanwhile, Tyler had been secretly convincing male members of the group to engage in cuddle sessions and various sexual activity, a practice that continued even after he married Bethany.
The mystery deepens:
Two weeks after Micah Moore confessed to killing Bethany, he recanted his confession. He later claimed that church members at IHOP coerced and manipulated him into giving a confession, and stated that he was mentally vulnerable from taking psychedelic drugs and experiencing hallucinations.
After Micah's arrest and eventual release, the group disbanded and many members returned to their families and hometowns. The police kept the investigation open in the hopes that they might find evidence to either directly or indirectly link Tyler, or others, to Bethany's death.
Updates:

• After the case against Micah Moore was dropped, Bethany's death was listed as "Undetermined" and due to "asphyxia".
  
• Tyler Deaton moved back to Texas and attempted teaching at a public high school, but was suspended from teaching when students and parents expressed concern after finding his name and the cult allegations through Google searches.
  
• And more recently, IHOP, the church the group associated with at the time of Bethany's death, has decided to shut down after numerous scandals and sex abuse allegations.
  

So, what happened to Bethany Deaton?
Was she murdered?
Or was she tragically driven to suicide?

• In 2015, the case was covered by the show 48 hours in an episode called Fall from Grace. In it Bethany's husband, Tyler, giggles and brags that his curse is being "charismatic" and really good at influencing people. However, he maintains that he never ran a cult and that Bethany's death was not his doing.
  
• In 2014, the Rolling Stone wrote a piece about the group and their origins under Tyler's cult-like leadership.
  
• In 2015, Lifetime made a movie about the case called "Ungodly Acts".
  

I am just a simple guy, and I've lived my life like a typical very lower middle class 90s kid. I have had the trials and tribulations of relationships and navigated them the best I could. I just felt that there are a lot of questions appearing here on relationships, marriage etc that I dealt with for a long time. I guess I wanted to summarize my thoughts, maybe it'll help you all get some perspective. These are things that your elder brothefather should have taught you, but I know they didn't because that's how India is. I am speaking from my experience of dating women and ofcourse its just my experience, so take it for what its worth.
Disclaimer: I am a guy - so my perspective can be flawed. But for what its worth, since this is a subreddit - if you are a girl and have a different view, feel free to voice it and put me in my place. Also if you think there's any worth to this, support it so others know that this is indeed beneficial.
Boys - inability to get into relationships, misconceptions, thoughts and theories
Number 1:
I can get the girl if I am rich/successful/ripped/topper of JEE: Girls don't care about any of these things. You have to understand that none of the above will let you date that girl that you want to date. I will come back to this point, but this misconception needs to be removed. The important thing about getting a girl to like you is to get them to notice you, and get them to realize that your intentions aren't 'to be just friends'. You need to escalate, you need to slowly understand what she is comfortable with by slipping in a dirty joke in the conversation to see how she is responding. You have to touch her (non sexually) like hold her hand etc - and see her reaction. Now some will never have a good reaction to such advances - that just means she isn't ready for any relationship, or she doesn't want to be with you and both those outcomes are alright. Now I've gotten this wrong many times - sometimes I slid in a joke too dirty and girls were put off by it, sometimes it wasn't dirty enough and they didn't get it. But YOU HAVE TO KEEP ON DOING THIS. In the west they call this 'social skills'. Girls are a very emotional bunch and they react to the moment. And you have to create the moment.
Think of it from a girl's perspective - in her mind a romance is something that has been defined by bollywood movies/romance novels. There are probably sunsets, some mischief, some fun, some adventure in that framework. You have to play to the framework. It doesn't have to be grandiose, but it's the small things: like if its raining then ask her to hangout at some good place. She will interpret these gestures as gestures of romance because she has learnt that THIS IS ROMANCE. Play bollywood to your advantage.
Number 2:
Be Decisive: You need to be decisive. If she asks where do you want to go, don't respond by saying 'Where would you like to go?'. Know everything about everything, especially the first few times you take her out on a date. Never be indecisive, because she needs to trust that you have your shit together. If you are going out on a 5 hr date - make sure you have it planned. If its a movie, know which movie you are going to, where you are going to sit, where you will go when the movie ends, where you will eat. That way you display reliability. I've found this approach works.
Number 3:
Look good: Look man this is the 21st century, and if you are ugly thats on you. If you have lots of marks on your face or pimples - GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST. Don't listen to your mom or some other relative who tells you smearing your face with some mud or haldi is going to fix it. It is a medical problem, it needs medical answers. I have personally experienced this - I used to have a lot of pimples, and each time I went to my parents with the problem, they would either dismiss it, or they would suggest home remedies. Stop doing that. If you are too young and your parents won't pay for a dermatologist then try to get money from somewhere or get a job and then go to a dermatologist.
Also here, follow a skin care routine and find what skin care product works for you AND NEVER CHANGE IT. Lots of youtube videos are out there on skin care stuff - but for starters your skin is probably oily or dry. If it is oily you need to use a different set of products, if it is dry its different. Whatever is advertised on TV is bullshit. You should have a cleanser, a moisturizer, a sunscreen that you use twice a day EVERYDAY, and an exfoliant once or twice a week. If you cant afford all these things, start small. Start with the cleanser. But to see which brands, and which ingredients work for you watch youtube videos and once you have the right mix - NEVER CHANGE IT FOR LIFE.
Number 4:
Clothes: You need to plan your clothes shopping. We are poor, so we do not have infinite money to buy clothes. So think about clothes shopping as a scientific thing. Make a list of all the events for which you might need clothes for. A party, wedding, college, formal occasions like interviews, semi formal occasions like work parties. And buy 1 pair of clothes for each occasion. You should add 2 jeans with that and a few T-Shirts. A few shoes are important too - formal, sports, semi formal. And you should never have anything else in your wardrobe. If I ask you what clothes are in your wardrobe, you should be able to tell me which clothes you have and for what occasion they are in 30 seconds. Over time mix and match and add to it, but get the baseline correct. That is the foundation to dressing well. Don't just decide one day that lets go to the mall and start buying stuff. Plan it in advance, that I am going to the mall to buy such and such clothes for such and such occasion. Look at pictures on the net to find what you like. And never compromise, if you don't get what you are looking for, don't buy. Try another time. Focus on building the base line of clothes, its an art, its not a mindless buying spree.
Number 5:
Body: Go to the gym. Much has been said but one thing I like to add is that I've seen atleast in my case my parents were always against me going to the gym. They said ridiculous things like you should do freehand on the roof top, or lift heavy stones, or I know so and so who achieved great results for doing yoga. All that is to save money. The truth is they don't want to pay for your gym. So find a way to go to the gym and really understand your body, what exercises are working for you, what is your body responding to. Keep a diary to record your observations.
Number 6:
Confidence: This is why there is a general misconception that girls only go for the rich and successful. Its not about the richness or the success its about confidence. In India only 2 kinds of people have confidence - the rich dudes and the poor chapris. And both of them will get a girlfriend before you do. But that doesn't mean you lost. Try to build confidence somehow.
Number 7:
Find a girl early: If you are in school, college etc - this is when the girls are the most open minded. Get a girlfriend. Because it only gets exponentially harder from there. Don't wait for THE ONE. Tinder is not your friend. Girls in India aren't like that in the west, contrary to what you believe the hook up culture in India is limited to a small number of girls, and for those small number of girls that are open to the idea, there are many objectively better men out there for them. Chances are you have to find love through other avenues such as social gatherings/hobby groups etc.
Number 8:
Hobbies: This is something no one has control over. So I wont stress on it much, but have an outdoorsy hobby that lets you meet people. Like hiking, dancing etc. Don't have a hobby that is solo - like gaming.
Number 9:
Disregard your parents: Indian parents have an age old thing to say about love - be successful and then there will be a line of girls waiting for you. But you have to understand they are talking from an age old perspective that isn't true anymore. They say that because in the erstwhile arranged marriage scenario this used to be true. And back then girls had a lot less say in the marriage decision. Fathers would find a boy and the girl usually said yes. Nowadays girls have social media, they have more freedom (which I greatly support) - so these days just success won't get you a girl. Don't believe me, ask any friend of yours who has the best job and has tried to get a girl through Bharatmatrimony. See what they say. Jobs are no longer the be all end all, and the girls now want more than that. Our parents lived in a generation that was too antiquated and is no longer adjacent to the modern world. Suffice to say their advice is also shit.
Number 10:
Arranged marriages and the girl's past: Don't worry about her past. And don't worry about whether she will love you because of that past relationship she had. These days a girl doesn't need to marry, the social stigma is not as bad. And parents do not have 7 kids that they want to get rid of. If a girl doesn't want to marry most fathers will just let her stay at home. They just have 1 daughter and they wont mind keeping her near to them. The fact that she is willing to marry again despite the past relationship is because she wants to take the next step in her life. And she is optimistic about taking it with you. Now if you reduce it to a numbers game then things wont work. And no, the fact that she had a past relationship does not mean she will seek out something new after marriage, if anything she has already experienced what a bad relationship looks like so chances are she will be even more committed to making this one a good one. Ofcourse, caveat being that if she was someone who put too less a value on sex - that is if she hooked up with a different guy every night, chances are she will not understand why you care about such things in the first place and keep on sleeping around. So if that's not for you, steer clear. You need to realize that the world has moved on. Sure it isn't fun knowing your girl has had a few boyfriends before. But the fact that you didn't have a few girlfriends before is on you. You could've tried harder. You could've done something about it. You didn't.
If you are still insecure about body count - then go hire a prostitute, raise your body count, then get married. If you were too busy to get a gf, and are too afraid to hire a prostitute - AND if you are too insecure of having a girl with a past - DUDE YOU'LL NEVER GET LAID. You've then closed all the doors for yourself. I won't have any sympathy for you when you are old and bitter and nor should anyone else.
Number 11:
Photos: No one looks the way they do on photos. Go to a mirror, contort your face, smile, see what looks good. Click selfies, find which angle looks good on you. Go to instagram - find what filters look good on you. Use apps like Snapseed to improve these photos. A lot of how you look on a photo depends on the angle you click it from. Girls have a tendency to click a lot of photos, trust me, they don't all look so good all the time. Just that they have had more practice and they know the camera angles, filters etc that they need to look good. You can do that too.
Number 12:
Hair: Your hairstyle is like 50% of how you look. Go to a good salon. Don't go to the guy who charges Rs 20. Change the barber (I know its a huge taboo, but it is important). Go to different barbers, see photos on the internet that resemble your face shape. See if there are some cuts that look good on you. I was shy when I was in my teens, and couldn't do this, but don't be shy. Go to the barber and talk to him normally about the kind of cut you want. Bring a pic in your mobile of a few samples and ask his opinion. Talk to him as if he is your friend, he will then want to give you the best cut possible because through this conversation your are elevating the barber from a dull hair cutter to an artist.
Number 13:
Skin tone: If you are like me - a dark skin toned guy - oh man things are bad. You can't change this so you better be spending a lot of time in the gym. Everyone in India prefers the fairer tone, so - yeah tough luck I guess.
Number 14:
Food: Don't eat whatever, whenever. Have a broad plan. You don't have to follow a strict diet, but much of what you eat results in how you look. All ailments from pimples to fat - you need to atleast recognize eating what results in what. Like I have oily skin, and if I eat a lot of oily foods, I end up getting pimples and in general 'chip chipa' skin. So if I want to look better, I try to avoid those foods. I try not to overeat. Trust me, when maintaining weight, losing weight is far harder. To burn off a scoop of ice cream you'll have to run for 20 mins. I am lazy, and hence I can't run like that regularly, so I try not to eat such stuff in the first place.
Number 15:
Why doesn't she like me: We all fall in love when we want to fall in love. That's the truth. A girl is the same. You can be the perfect guy, but if she is not in a stage of life / state of mind where she is open to the idea of a relationship, she won't be in a relationship. You have to move on and find some one who is willing. So even if you follow all these steps you may not be able to find the right one. But you'll see that you'll still feel good. Atleast you tried.
Conclusion:
This sounds like a lot of work. And trust me this is what adulting is all about.
Why are we having all these issues. I think its because we are at a point in time when hell has broken loose. The laws of the old times - arranged marriages, factors for success, access to information, access to people of the opposite sex have changed very drastically. Our parents (for 90s kids atleast) belonged to a generation that used to watch black and white TVs and used to go to the STD ISD PCO to make a phone call. And here we are. So those values they tried to instill and the learnings they had collected in their lifetimes are no longer applicable to the world around us now. Back then needs were few, and if you had a good job everything else was sorted - relationships, finances, job security, status - everything. That is the code by which they lived by. But in these times financial success and social success are to an extent disjointed. So you need to adapt. You need to focus on all aspects of life and not just one.

Hey there, I work for a transit nonprofit, during my one year review 6 months ago, I asked for a raise. My manager said they were unclear about how pay raises were going to work since we are in the middle of getting a pay equity review. They made it seem like it was a MAYBE that I would get a pay raise, but they aren't in these rooms when the pay equity review is happening. After looking at jobs in the area with not nonprofits, it's very clear that I am being very underpaid at the bottom of the market, because I have been looking at jobs similiar to mine in the local area over the last 6 months.
Does anyone have experience with benefitting or being negatively? How is it determined (this is an outside organization)? When do you know when to walk away from a job and look for something else, even as someone new in the field?

***Yes, I keep looking for other jobs, but also recognize that I'm only 1.5 years into this field, and most organizations want 3-5 years. (I did however receive a masters in instructional design, worked as a instructional design grad assistant, and had 2 solid ID/ISD internships....but it's still hard to feel qualified in this job market). When I applied I knew that the pay was low, but I've never negotiated my wage before. When they said no to my request, I didn't know what else to do other than except since I still needed a job...and the entry level market is rough!

So I’m currently living in Austin…and I absolutely hate it. The city’s way too massive, too crowded, too loud and frankly, there’s so much stuff going on here that it makes me nervous to even consider raising a family here. I thought I was going to be living in Texas when I moved here, not the Diet Coke version of Los Angeles.
I’ve recently interviewed for a job that would require me to move more out west, and the HR department said that if selected since I’m already a Texas resident, I should seriously consider El Paso as a place to live because they already have people living there working for the company, it’s near a major airport (I’d have to travel about 30% for the job), and I wouldn’t have to jump through a ton of hoops with moving out of state.
I’ve been watching YouTube video after YouTube video about what life in El Paso is like, but I’d rather just ask the people here a few questions and see if El Paso is a city where I can build a life in.
1) Is El Paso actually safe?

• I keep seeing reports that it’s one of the safest cities in the country, but of course every news outlet you look at (Left, Right, or Center leaning) talks about crises and tension at the boarder. I’ve also heard that El Paso’s sister city isn’t exactly the nicest place to live either. I know that every city is going to have its good and its bad neighborhoods, but there’s some cities out there that are more bad than good when it comes to crime. Is El Paso one of them? Is my wife going to be able to go on a morning walk without having to worry about anything? What areas would you all say are the nicest or safest? What apartments can you recommend?

2) How are the schools?

• Austin ISD is by far one of the shittiest school districts I’ve ever seen. 48% graduation rate, violence, and other stuff that I don’t want my future kids going through. The fights are one thing since I can always teach my kids how to stand up for themselves, but I don’t want to send my kids to a school where they won’t be learning or that teachers aren’t going to give two shits either. Are the schools decent in El Paso, and which ones can you recommend?

3) Things to do in the area?

• I’m a huge movie buff. I’m talking “I’m one of the goobers who pays for AMC A-List because I end up saving money on movie tickets with how much I go” kind of movie buff. Is there a good movie theater in the area? I’m also a gigantic Dungeons and Dragons nerd so any sort of local game shops would be awesome too if they were in the area. It might be a little odd to mention it here but I’m also a Christian (Protestant) and want to make sure I can get connected to a solid church as well.

4) Literally any other advice you can give?

I have just finished creating my very own commander cube using cards only from Innistrad! All cards printed from any of the nine Innistrad sets are allowed. Those sets are Innistrad (ISD), Dark Ascension (DKA), Avacyn Restored (AVR), Shadows Over Innistrad (SOI), Eldritch Moon (EMN), Midnight Hunt (MID) Crimson Vow (VOW), Midnight Hunt Commander (MIC), and Crimson Vow Commander (VOC).
If a card wasn't printed in one of these sets, it was not included. This means commander staples like [[Path to Exile]], [[Cultivate]], and mana rocks like the signets are instantly cut from the list. The only exceptions to this rule are lands and cards that very clearly are from Innistrad. Cards like [[Odric's Crusader]] was only ever printed in Double Masters and M13; and [[Ghoulcaller GisaC14]] is from C14 originally, but is a well known Innistrad resident. [[Blood TributeC17]] from C17 features Edgar Markov and Olivia Voldaren mid initiation ceremony. There are only a few cards like this within each deck list. Also, any card printed in either of the two commander sets, I decided was okay to use, even though the card clearly takes place on a different plane ([[Shamanic Revelation]] originally coming from Tarkir, but was reprinted in MIC).
These strict building parameters forced me to use cards that most people have never use outside of a limited format, let alone in the 99 of a commander deck. [[Caravan Sigil]] and [[Celebrate the Harvest]] are ramp cards I never even heard of until I started this project. The same is true for some less than ideal removal like [[Devastation TideAVR]] or [[Lightning AxeSOI]]. Not the best card, but the best option given the restrictions of Innistrad cards only.
The 4 decks I decided to make were Humans, Zombies, Vampires, and Werewolves. Each deck is right around the same price point of $110-$115 and I believe I did a pretty good job of balancing the decks out to create a 4-way, free-for-all, kindred war. But I would to get some feedback. Please feel free to take a look and let me know what you think. Would this be a fair and fun game for all players? Is one deck clearly more over-powered than the others? This is currently just a concept that I'd love to build and play one day.
