2024.05.16 05:00 Abject-Serve-9546 One of my "best friends" doesn't actually seem to like me much

I always talked so highly about her to everyone I met. I'd cook for her, listen to all her problems, we've been physical intimate, I thought we were like tight. Known each other since I began transitioning like 6 years ago!
It feels like pulling teeth to get her to hang out, always with the excuse of being socially drained or something similar. It never really bothered me, I'm autistic and very loyal so like ofc I wanted my friend to rest and get better. She would call me whenever the impulse took her, often late at night to talk about problems of hers or just to talk at me about something. Sometimes she'd ask me my input on things and she always said how much she valued my opinion ect. I genuinely enjoyed these moments! I felt helpful and like I was really doing something good.
9/10 times when we hang out we end up in my bed watching a movie. Fine! I'm a cinephile and love showing people movies or really just watching anything. Cinematography is a huge passion of mine and I love analyzing films.
Without fail, whether I picked what we were watching or she did, she would
A) fall asleep B) immediately go on her phone for like the whole movie and do that upsetting thing people do where they ask you to fill them in despite making no attempt at paying any attention
And like! OK! I was glad my friend was getting rest. That's fine right? I'm just glad to be providing a space for my sweet lovely friend to unwind.
Weirdly the sex has been the least complicated thing in our friendship. I'm mostly ace and love giving head so ofc that works out fine.
And if you're starting to see the pattern develop well so have I.
The final straw that broke the back of realization for me is I can't count on 1 hand the number of times she's asked me how I'm doing and then not just immediately gone into a topic of her choosing. Because it never. Happens.
She says I love you after every conversation, she even elevated our fwb levels recently by initiating making out which we have never ever done before (I know that sounds silly juxtaposed against having sex but honestly it was kind of a big deal!)
I'm not asking for anything more than simply showing the base level of interest in me and just like giving a shit? I feel like I'm losing my mind it feels like I'm this dog that's been doing everything for someone and just now realizes they've never once got pet. What the fuck do I do if I can't even recognize when I'm being neglected?? This shit has genuinely shaken me to my core and made me question myself in ways that I don't know the answers to.
Sorry for the rambling format but fuck I'm hurting
TLDR I'm a dumb dog that doesn't even know when it's been kicked

2024.05.16 04:55 CaptainChristopher02 My Floridian Arxur Daughter (Part 30: A Visit to the ER)

Memory Transcript Subject: Carlos Jose Rodriguez, Mechanical Engineer, Florida Man
Date [Standardized Human Time]: December 29th, 2136
When Yalga passed out on the couch I sent a message to the family group chat making sure everyone knew of the situation.
I needed to get Yalga into the hospital, but I didn’t want to do it myself. Pyon also needed a sitter, so I was waiting for mom to come back so Salisek and I could focus on Yalga.
Me: Yalga burned herself on the heat pad. We’re taking her to the ER. Mom, could you come home to take care of Pyon.
Mom: WHAT DO YOU MEAN BURNED HERSELF?! We’re coming home!
Tarvik: On our way. We’ll help you take her.
I didn’t want to bother them, but I couldn’t complain. I needed help. While I waited for them to arrive I poured a cool glass of water for Yalga so she could hydrate herself when she gets up. I gently nudged her awake, which made her groan in discomfort as her eyes opened.
“Dad? What’s going on?” She asked weakly. Her voice was a little rough.
“I’m gonna take you to the doctor,” I answered bluntly. “I am aware, you don’t love doctors but these people can help you much better than me. I’ll be with you as much as I can, holding your hand. Can you be brave for me?”
My daughter nodded yes, so I got up and went upstairs to grab something we’re definitely gonna need. I also made sure Salisek got the news. She probably saw through the chat, but I needed to be sure.
I peeked into our room, or at least the room the girls were staying in together. “Honey?” I called the mother of my children. Salisek was cradling Pyon, trying to calm him down. Pyon was holding his teddy tight enough to cause some visible rips and tears. I need to ask mom to fix that later. “How is he?”
Pyon buried his face in Saliseks chest fur, and made some small whining sounds. “He’s scared. We heard Yalga scream and didn’t know what was going on. He soiled himself when he heard Yalga and has been crying for a while now. He only just stopped. He can sense I’m worried too.”
“You changed him right?”
“Yeah, although I didn’t think now was a good time for potty training. What are you getting?”
Salisek followed me to my mom’s room and watched me search around the closet. “Almost a decade ago, my dad was hit by a car. Something about the sensors being screwed up. He’s obviously fine now, but the car didn’t stop just in time so he broke a leg. Thank God that’s all he got. Anyway, he bought a wheelchair and kept it- Aha!”
I freed the simple contraption buried under a mountain of clothes dad considered put away and carried it downstairs.
“We’re gonna need this. It’s gonna be way easier to move Yalga.”
Salisek continued to cradle Pyon, rocking him back and forth, as she talked to me, “What do you need me to do?”
“Stay with Pyon.”
“No.”
“We’re not arguing about this. I need you to stay-”
“Pardon me, could you repeat that!? Have you forgotten that despite that fact we aren’t married yet we both signed as the legal guardians of both Pyon AND Yalga. Or did you want to call your barber for help?”
Hearing Salisek use her angry voice when talking about anything other than Exterminator and Federation bigotry felt like a punch in the gut.I tried to defuse the situation. That worked about as well as it did when dad tried it.
“Hun, that’s not what I mea-”
“MY-” Salisek paused when she remembered she was still carrying Pyon who was looking at her as if she yelled at him. “Oh, I’m so sorry pup just…” She shifted Pyon's position so he could bury his face into her fur to distract her. She softened her voice, but made it stern as steel. “My daughter is in an incredible amount of pain. She is scared, she is tired. I will be there. Pyon will come with, so he can see his sister being taken care of. I. Will. Be. There. For. My. Daughter. Am I clear?”
I help up my hands in defeat. “Okay. We’ll leave as soon as the family gets here.”
Saliseks voice and posture softened. “Okay. Again this time. What can I do?”
Seeing how serious she was, I realized doing this on my own was a stupid idea from the start. “Pack some snacks. I’m not getting overcharged for crappy hospital junk. And while you’re in the kitchen please grab more water for Yalga. I gotta make sure the bandaging is on well and she’s okay.”
“Okay.”
Salisek walked to the kitchen, still carrying Pyon. At times like these, I know I made the right decision marrying her.
“I love you sweetheart!” I called out.
“I love you too hun!” She called back.
I pulled the wheelchair out so Yalga could get in it. I could try and carry her, but unfortunately with her size and weight it would be better to transport her like this. Even if it’s a short distance.
“Daddy,” Yalga called.
“Yeah.”
“Are you and Mommy mad at each other?” She asked innocently. “Did I do something wrong? I heard Mom say my name.”
I knelt down to give my daughter an assuring kiss on her head. “No kiddo. We had a disagreement like all adults. It’s solved now. We still love each other.”
Despite her monotone voice, it couldn’t hide the tears building in her eyes. “Okay.”
I ignored it for the moment because she was probably gonna cry more in a moment. I opened the chair as much as it could go and gave the seat a nice solid pat.
“We’re gonna put you here, then we’re going to the Emergency Room.”
“Do I have to get up?”
“Yeah. You do. Grab my hand. We’ll go slow.”
Yalga held my hand and grasped it tight. I need to remember that she has a very strong grip. To keep her even I used my other hand to push her up from the other side so she didn’t have to do the work.
I’m so glad I go to the gym.
We slowly worked together to lift her up so she could sit straight.
“Ow, ow!”
“I know it hurts. Take your time.”
Once we got her up we had to get her into the chair. I thought about the best way to put her tail. Through the hole in the back? Would it just drag to the ground? Wait!
I went to the side of the couch where there was a thin blanket for me and Salisek when we slept here. If I can tie the blanket on the handles it can keep her tail up without squishing it. I just need to get her on first.
“Okay Princess. Let’s get up. Can you stand?”
“Y-Yeah. Um, Dad?”
Yalga awkwardly clutched her tail. “I need to use the bathroom.”
My eyes darted from the bathroom to the couch and back. “No better time to test the wheelchair.”
[Memory Transcript Time Skip: 40 Minutes]
Even though it was getting late the traffic was still a lot. Once Salisek was ready we both called our parents and they both said that traffic was heavy. With it being the last Saturday of the year, Florida residents and tourists alike were enjoying their day.
We decided to just meet at the ER. The blanket trick for Yalga’s tail worked well and it didn’t hurt too much for her to walk once she got up. However, sitting down hurt her a lot unless it was in the wheelchair. Her tail probably played a factor since it didn’t have a place to sit except on the side when dealing with regular chairs.
Once we got to the hospital I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t that packed. Because of increased tourism and parties things can get crowded this time of year. Thankfully that wasn’t the case today. I didn’t want my daughter waiting more than she had too.
When I opened the side door, Yalga was already half up just so she could get into a chair with room for her tail. I helped carry her down and rolled her through the hospital's parking lot.
Salisek was having a difficult time carrying Pyon. He was pretty nervous. “Mawmy, I don wan to gow en.”
I didn’t understand why Pyon was scared but Mawmy was able to calm him down. “It’s okay pup. This place is filled with very nice and smart people who can help your big sister.”
My daughter didn’t say much, instead she looked around the large hospital and took in all the architecture and bright lights at the front. The front and lobby areas were clean and comfortable which helped a little to ease the tensions of anyone going in with something they believe is serious.
I rolled Yalga straight to the front desk and we were greeted by the medical receptionist. “Hello, how may I help you?”
I smiled politely and spoke calmly, “Hello, I’m Carlos Rodriguez and this is my daughter Yalga. She was using a heating pad and unfortunately suffered some burns. I was able to patch her up a little, but the gels and methods we have are for humans so I want to make sure she can heal properly. I would also like a professional to look at other areas of concern dealing with her limbs and back.”
“Any pain, shortness of breath, chest pain, profuse bleeding?”
“Her back usually causes her pain and the burning made it worse.”
She gestured to my fiance and son, “Are those two with you?”
“The tall Venlil woman is Salisek, my fiance, and she’s holding our son Pyon. They came for emotional support and to assist with anything Yalga may need.”
“We’ll get you someone right away. Please wait in the lobby.”
“Thank you.”
I knew they probably wouldn’t rush us in since even though Yalga is in pain, there’s no direct threat to her life. The most they’d do is probably a tetanus shot. I suppose I’ll have to worry if Yalga reacts to needles. I’ll try to calm her down because I could tell Yalga was still tense. I rolled her to a seating area with a TV playing Tom and Jerry.
Peak Fiction
With all the stress Yalga was going through, there’s nothing like cartoon violence to ease the mood. What would also ease the mood is having the family visit which according to a message they just sent, they were already here just finding parking.
Soon everyone entered the hospital and after a quick chat with the receptionist, along with me flagging them down, they joined us in the lobby. Helen and Chalta ran to Yalga the quickest.
“Yalga, are you okay?!” Chalta asked. “We heard your back got hurt!”
Helen was about to tackle Yalga into a hug before I stopped her. “Helen, Yalga isn’t feeling well. Please be careful she’s in a lot of pain.” Helen was visibly worried but still gently gave Yalga a supportive hug.
“Get better soon please.”
Talice and Tarvik were surrounding Salisek, asking questions on how they could help.
“Mom, it’s fine, really.”
“No, it’s not fine. Your father and I are here to help so please be honest with us. We’ll help with anything you need. We’ll take Helen home soon but the moment you need anything we’ll be right there.”
“Why isn’t she seeing a doctor yet? What kind of place is this?!”
Mom went over to Salisek who was still holding Pyon. “I can take him sweetie, get some rest.”
Salisek cradled a stressed Pyon in her arms, “Do you wanna go with Grandma, little pup?”
“Gwandma.”
Salisek gently handed Pyon over to my mother who instantly knew how to calm him down. Salisek fell into the chair next to me. She was pretty exhausted and it was getting late. The stress of everything is what really made her worry. Seeing your child in pain isn’t fun. My father put a hand on each of our shoulders.
“Is everything alright?” he asked.
I looked over to my daughter who was trying to watch the cartoon with her sisters but still had a hard time focusing because of the pain, as evident by her trying to adjust herself. I gave her a tap on her shoulder and mouthed “how are you feeling?”. I could only hear a little whisper, but it was enough to understand she was saying “It still hurts.”
Dad could overhear what we were trying to say and knelt down next to Yalga. “What would you like to do when we leave?”
“I’m a little hungry. Can we go eat later?”
“Of course, anything you want.”
I was grateful for my dad, that we remembered to comfort Yalga in all this. I was so new to everything, not to mention the speed at which everything was happening.

Where’s the doctor!
“Carlos Rodriguez,” She called just as my patience was wearing thin. “We’re ready to see you now.”
“Thank you. One moment.”
I quickly talked with my parents and in-laws about who is going home and who is staying. My mom offered to take Pyon home and to tuck him in, Salisek agreed. Talice decided to go with and made sure to bring Chalta and Helen back since they knew they might get bored or cause trouble. Tarvik and Dad were conversing for a bit about who should stay before settling on Dad since he’s more familiar with the hospital.
Salisek gave Pyon a strong nose nuzzle, “I’ll see you later, okay Pyon? Mommy will be home soon. Be good to grandma, okay?”
“Owkay Mawmy.”
“I love you.”
“I wuv yu tu.”
Helen and Chalta gave Yalga a big, but gentle, hug.
“Get better soon.”
“We’ll play lots of games together when you get back.”
Everyone quickly said their goodbyes so it was just me, Yalga, Salisek, and Dad. We followed the nurse to a room and were asked to wait until the doctor arrived. Yalga was really on edge.
“Dad, are you gonna tell Odin about me?”
“It hasn’t crossed our minds. Do you want us to call him so you can talk for a bit?”
“No thank you, I don’t want him to worry.” My daughter fidgeted with her claws in shame. She didn’t want Odin to see her hurt. The moment she’s okay, I’m planning a date for her and Odin. With chaperones of course. “Are the doctors here nice?” Yalga asked nervously.
“Of course they are, Princess. Just answer honestly and they’ll help you get better.”
They’ll help you get better… I hope.
[Memory Transcript Time Skip: 60 Minutes]
“So the spray will help heal and clean the burn so it doesn’t get sick?” Yalga asked curiously.
“That’s right,” Dr. Brown stated. “Soon we’ll give you a small shot to help protect against tetanus. It’s a very dangerous condition that can happen when you get a cut or burn. But you’re being very brave, I’ll see if we can get you a treat later. That is, if your parents are okay with it.”
“gasp Can I daddy?! Pleeeeeeease, I’ve been soooo good.”
I smiled brightly, “Of course you can.”
Dr. Brown was a huge blessing. The guy had been working with kids for a while and was great with Yalga. He was really good at relaxing her and explaining to her what was going on. He was honest and genuine. Salisek really liked him too, and even asked some questions herself. I also remembered him during my reckless years. He recognized me too.
“You’re daddy was quite the troublemaker back in his day.”
“Really?”
“Yup, when he was small he proudly came to me with a broken wrist.”
“Why would he be proud of that?”
“He got it trying to impress his crush.”
Seven-year-old me told you that in confidence.
I awkwardly looked at Salisek, but all she could do was stare and slowly smile while turning to my dad for more information.
“Do you happen to know the full story, dad?” Salisek teased.
“Well daughter, Carlos had a small crush on this girl named Jessica in the second grade and he tried to impress her by jumping off the swing set. He succeeded and flung himself so far into the air that when he landed on his wrist he needed a cast for months.”
“H-Hey! You laugh but it worked. She sat next to me at lunch and gave me her lunchables, that’s like… the pinnacle of love in second grade.”
I earned a laugh from everyone in the room, which almost made me forget that it was at my expense.
“Um, what is a lunchable?” Dr. Triva asked. She was a Zurulian working with Dr. Brown, trying to work with and understand the Arxur biology. While she was important in treating Yalga’s burn with her experience with Harchen Exterminators she would be even more important in trying to understand her condition as a whole. Zurulians have the best medical understanding compared to… pretty much everyone.
“It’s a children’s meal kit for both vegan and non-vegan foods, it’s popular for kids in school lunches.” Dr. Brown took his eyes off his colleague and gave me a sly look. “But let’s be honest, there was never any real meat in those things.”
Yalga’s interests also peaked. “Were they tasty?”
“Back in my day they were the best part of school. They were also a status symbol. Having the best lunchables meant you were the coolest kid.”
“What was the best one, Daddy?”
“Pizza.”
Of course it was pizza. It’s always pizza.
Pizza is God’s gift to the world.
Dr. Triva grabbed the syringe for the shot while Dr. Brown prepped the area. The sight of the needle made Yalga nervous.
“D-Daddy, do we have to…”
“Hey Princess, look at this.”
Yalga took her gaze off the needle and onto my phone where I showed her my favorite distraction.
[Behold Distraction]
“What is that?” Yalga asked. “I like the sounds.”
The legend Zach Choi, his legacy continued by his descendants, loved making short videos of him just cooking. This one was one of the rare ones that didn’t feature meat. Yalga was fully entranced into the process that she didn’t even react to the needle or the bandaid.
“Good job my beautiful pup!” Salisek cheered.
“Yeah… in a minute, mom.”
Dr. Brown chuckled, “I think I should start using those for nervous patients, right Dr. Triva?”
“Yeah… in a minute, Dr. Brown.”
I took my phone away before everyone forgot why they were here and we were ready to proceed. The doctors wanted to really get a look at Yalga and her condition. On the promise of peanut butter cookies and meat lovers pizza Yalga bravely went through all the X-Ray’s, bloodwork, medical history, and any other examinations they needed.
It took a while and she was starting to get frustrated with all the tests, but she persisted, and soon it was over. They allowed us to stay the night to monitor the burn area in case complications arose. So we all stayed in the hospital room, enjoying our time together as if it was a little adventure.
“Mommy look, the bed moves!”
“Pup, please don’t break it.”
Yalga went crazy when she saw how many buttons the hospital bed had, and needless to say, she was enjoying it. She kept Dad occupied with all her questions both about the hospital and about anything else her mind could think of. She was happy to be done with the tests.
“Grandpa, do you think they’ll let me see my bone pictures later?”
“Sure, but they need someone who is trained to look at them first and show them to the doctors.”
“There’s someone who knows how to look at pictures of bones?”
“Yup, they can see things we can because they’re bone smart. Do you wanna be a doctor when you grow up?”
“I dunno. Maybe I can be a doctor for bones, a bone doctor!”
It was nice seeing her happy, but Salisek and I were still worried about what they would find. What would it take to heal Yalga? Could they do it? I think so, but how long will it take? I don’t care about the financial cost, I care about the physical and mental toll it would take on Yalga. But would we have a choice?
I looked to my fiance who was rapidly tapping her foot onto the ground, impatiently waiting for the doctor to come back in and give us the news on Yalga’s condition.
“It can’t be that bad right?” she whispered. “With aid from the Zurualians they must have a way to easily fix Yalga’s condition. So what’s taking them so long?”
“They’re probably just double checking some things. I’m sure it’s nothing.” I could tell she was still stressed, so I held her hand and kissed her cheek. “Our daughter will be fine.”
Salisek tried to keep herself from crying for Yalga’s sake, but had the doctors not finally arrived she might’ve broken.
“Carlos, Salisek? You’re the parents correct?” Dr. Trivia asked. “I’ll just need to see you both very quickly to discuss some things.”
Finally ready for some answers we quickly got up, kissed our baby goodbye for now, and followed the Zurulian to a small room with Dr. Brown.
“Mr. Rodriguez and Mrs., do you prefer to be called Salisek or are you fine with adopting Mrs. Rodriguez?” The doctor politely asked.
“I’m fine with either, but I would like to get used to Mrs. Rodriguez.” I could feel her hand strengthen her grip in mine.
“Wonderful,” Dr. Brown took out a small folder that showed some of Yalga’s X-Rays, notes, and documents. “First things first, your daughter's burns should heal very soon.”
“Courtesy of Zurulian medicine and Harchen Exterminator Accidents.”
“Yes, thank you Dr. Triva. But of course this is not the only information you wanted to know about. The condition of your daughter is concerning. Not only because of the condition of her injuries, but also her condition that allows her body to grow at an exaggerated rate.”
Dr. Triva put the X-Ray slides on a projector for us to see. Seeing Yalga’s bones and how badly they were broken made my stomach turn, and my heart sink. I could hear Salisek’s gasp from how shocked she was.
It looked like a child had rearranged the right side of her body like a poorly constructed jigsaw puzzle. What made things worse was that the other side of her body looked nearly untouched meaning we could see all the damage her sperm donor did. I know how it felt to have broken a few bones as a kid. Her life would’ve been torture for me. I have know idea how she could live like that.
Why didn’t I take her here the moment we got home? How long has she been suffering like this?
“As you can see the limbs that didn’t grow as much were the ones that were injured the most. Trauma can be a factor in how limbs develop,” Dr. Triva explained. “You can see here how the bones didn’t heal correctly. Upon questioning your daughter it’s no question her back holds the most problems, but looking at her arms and legs it’s possible they’re also providing an incredible amount of discomfort and pain.”
Salisek wrapped her tail around my leg nervously. “So, what does this mean?”
“It means,” Dr. Brown continued. “That before we even think about her back we should address what’s going on in the rest of her body. If you look at her pelvic bone you can see it isn’t straight due to her walking on uneven legs for lord knows how long. So we think it would be best to first start realigning the bones as well as doing the appropriate extensions. My only concern is that her accelerated growth may cause complications, so she’ll need to visit here frequently.”
My fiance’s grip tightened as she looked deeper into the X-Rays, “I see. How long will it take for her to recover?”
“Several months, due to the severity of it. We can do the arms and legs separately, but that would be up to you. There’s a possibility it could take longer. We just can’t be certain with her growth, but we’ll have experts working round the clock on her case.”
“I-I see. But you can help her right?”
“We will do all within our power to make sure your daughter is healthy and lives a pain free life.
“Thank you… could you give us a moment. We would like to let our daughter know about it before we make arrangements.”
“Of course. Please let us know when you’re ready.”
We politely walked out of the room and turned around the corner away from where Yalga was.
“Honey?” I asked. “Is everything okay?”
I almost fell over when she pulled me in for a hug. I could barely hear her through her bleats and cry’s. “Look at what that monster did to her.”

The Collect
O God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: Do not leave us comfortless, but send us your Holy Spirit to strengthen us, and exalt us to that place where our Savior Christ has gone before; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
Readings:
Psalm 105:1–22 Zechariah 4
Gospel: Matthew 9:1–8
1 And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.
2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy;Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said,Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
5For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
6But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins,(then saith he to the sick of the palsy,)Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
7 And he arose, and departed to his house.
8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.
Commentary:
And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.” (v. 1) Here in these verses, we find a strange if not ironic comparison. On the one side we have those that find his miracles awe inspiring, or as we find in verse 8 where Matthew states in reference to the multitude following and who had witnessed Jesus’ miracles: “theymarvelled, and glorified God.” And on the other hand we see those who hate Jesus, because he dares to upset the status quo that they so coveted.
At the end of the previous chapter, Matthew tells us of his version of Jesus exorcising demons from two men (other Gospels only mention one) on the coast of the Sea of Galilee nearGadarene. As you recall fromother studies, Jesus cast out the demons, who then fled from him, entering into a herd of swine, causing the pigs to run into the sea and drown. The citizens ofGadarenes—upset at the loss of theirswine—asked Jesus to leave. Which brings us toour first verse for today inwhichMatthewtells usJesusagain crossed over the Sea tohis own city,Capernaum;where:
And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy;Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.” (v. 2-3)
they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed” Other Gospels explain how the man was brought to Jesus. Because of the crowds, his friends lowered him down to Jesus througha hole inthe roof.
Jesus’ miracles were not primarily calculated for crowd effect. Instead they were primarily done to minister to the humble needs of humble people. For the most part, most Jewish people of that time would have preferred much more spectacular signs – like calling down fire from heaven upon a Roman Legion.” (Guzik)
and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy” Jesus was impressed by the faith of the friends of this man. The phrase: “seeing their faith” demonstrates that their faith was so great that they carried this man through the crowds to bring him before Jesus. Again in the other Gospels, (Mark 2:1-12, Luke 5:17-26) we find that their faith was so great, that their belief that Jesus could heal their friend was so strong that when they could not press through the multitude gathered outside, they carried him up onto the roof of the house in which Jesus was in at the time, they tore a hole in the roof and lowered the man down into the midst of the gathering who had come to hear Jesus speak.
We also can assume that the paralyzed man himself had little faith; as Matthew emphasizes “seeing their faith” in that Jesus noted the faith of his friends, not the man with palsy. Therefore it appears that Jesus wanted to encourage this man’s faith by His next words.
Son, be of good cheer” “With swift sure diagnosis Jesus sees in the man not faith but deep depression…and uttering first a kindly hope-inspiring word, such as a physician might address to a patient: cheer up, child!” (Bruce)
thy sins be forgiven thee.” “The faith of the paralyzed man’s friends did something – they brought this man to Jesus. Yet they only thought of bringing him to Jesus for the healing of his body. They certainly didn’t think that Jesus would forgive His sins.” (Guzik)
We need not infer that the man was paralyzed as the direct result of some sin that needed forgiving. This did not seem to be Jesus’ point in saying, “your sins are forgiven you.”
Matthew Poole saw six reasons why Jesus dealt with the man’s sin first. To paraphrase Poole’s reasons why the sin was dealt with first:
  1. Because sin is the root from which all our evils come.
  2. To show that forgiveness is more important than bodily healing.
  3. To show that the most important thing Jesus came to do was to deal with sin.
  4. To show that when a man’s sins are forgiven, he becomes a son of God.
  5. To show that the response to faith is the forgiveness of sin.
  6. To begin an important conversation with the scribes and Pharisees.
Those in the crowd who felt they were the keepers of the Law, took offense at Jesus—someone many of them knew had resided in their city for some time—and to them what they perceived as Jesus taking upon himself, an authority reserved for God.
And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.” (v. 3)
They said within themselves, in their hearts, among themselves, in their secret whisperings, This man blasphemeth. See how the greatest instance of heaven's power and grace is branded with the blackest note of hell's enmity; Christ's pardoning sin is termed blasphemy; nor had it been less, if he had not had commission from God for it. They, therefore, are guilty of blasphemy, that have no such commission, and yet pretend to pardon sin.” (Henry)
certain of the scribes” Not all but a select few; “said within themselves” They didn’t have the courage to speak aloud their treasonous thoughts, which exposedtheir irrational belief that Jesus is but a man, one of their own,Jesushaving spent an indeterminate period of time in Capernaumbefore beginning his ministry.
In John chapter three, verse 2, Nicodemus the Pharisee came under cover of night so that his peers would not see him conversing with Jesus, and he said, “Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. ”Itshould have been evident, that no mortal man could do the miraculous healings that Jesus did, unless he be sent by God.Nicodemus and presumably others were not so blind that they could not see that Jesus had authority given to him by God, but yet these scribes in Capernaum chose to ignore the obvious and focus on what they perceived to be an infraction of the Law.
While the friends of the sick man had a great deal of faith, enough to touch the heart of Jesus, the scribes had no faith, and could not see something as obvious as Jesus having authority given him by God to heal and to forgive sins. No, they had to be showed the divinity of Christ.
He undertakes to make out, that the Son of man, the Mediator, has power on earth to forgive sins; for therefore the Father has committed all judgment to the Son, and has given him this authority, because he is the Son of man, Jn. 5:22, 27. If he has power to give eternal life, as he certainly has (Jn. 17:2), he must have power to forgive sin; for guilt is a bar that must be removed, or we can never get to heaven. What an encouragement is this to poor sinners to repent, that the power of pardoning sin is put into the hands of the Son of man, who is bone of our bone! And if he had this power on earth, much more now that he is exalted to the Father's right hand, to give repentance and remission of sins, and so to be both a Prince and a Saviour,” (Henry)
And Jesus knowing their thoughts said,Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins,(then saith he to the sick of the palsy,)Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.” (vs. 4-6)
How he proves it, by his power in the kingdom of nature; his power to cure diseases. Is it not as easy to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee, as to say, Arise and walk? He that can cure the disease, whether declaratively as a Prophet, or authoritatively as God, can, in like manner, forgive the sin. Now, This is a general argument to prove that Christ had a divine mission. His miracles, especially his miraculous cures, confirm what he said of himself, that he was the Son of God; the power that appeared in his cures proved him sent of God; and the pity that appeared in them proved him sent of God to heal and save. The God of truth would not set his seal to a lie.” (Ibid)
And Jesus knowing their thoughtsWherefore think ye evil in your hearts?” This alone should have told them they where in the presence of someone with great power and authority.
For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?” “Both healing and forgiveness are impossible with man. Yet only the promise of healing could be immediately proven, because though you can’t see someone’s sin being forgiven, you can see that they are healed.” (Guzik)
This appears to have been founded on Psalm 103:3. Who forgiveth all thine iniquities, and healeth all thy diseases. Here pardon precedes health.” (Clarke)
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins” Regarding which is easier to say, “Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk” Jesus answered His own question before the religious leaders did. Since He could make good on His claim to heal the man, it gave proof of His claim to also have the authority to forgive sins.If he had the Godly power to heal, then logically he must also have the power to forgive sins.
And he arose, and departed to his house. But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.” (vs. 7-8) At the man’s healing, the crowd properly gave God the glory for this miracle. Jesus obviously did not draw attention to Himself by the manner in which the healing was done.
At the beginning of this study, we mentioned how the men of Gadarene, were upset that Jesus had exorcised the demons and those entities drove the herd of swine mad and they ran into the sea. These men seemed obvious to the fact that Jesus had cured the possessed men, something an ordinary man could not do. Likewise the scribes of Capernium were oblivious to the many healings Jesus had done, acts that only God could do, and they chose to focus on Jesus having pronounced the sick man’s sins forgiven. However while the men of Gadarene and the scribes of Capernium ignored the divinity of Jesus, we see the people in awe and worshiping God, for having sent his own into their midst.
In the beginning of his Gospel John makes the case in an eloquent and poetic prose that Jesus was with God from the beginning of time, a part of God. Here we see Matthew attempting to make the same argument by illustrating how Jesus demonstrated his divinity and authority by healing and forgiving sins; again obvious acts that only God could authorize.
Note, All our wonder should help to enlarge our hearts in glorifying God, who alone does marvellous things. They glorified God for what he had done for this poor man. Others' mercies should be our praises, and we should give him thanks for them, for we are members one of another. God must be glorified in all the power that is given to men to do good.” (Henry)Benediction
Everliving God, whose will it is that all should come to you through your Son Jesus Christ: Inspire our witness to him, that all may know the power of his forgiveness and the hope of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Amen.
Thought for the Day:
Prayer is the risen Jesus coming in with His resurrection power, given free rein in our lives, and then using His authority to enter any situation and change things.

2024.05.16 04:53 Sadgebadgecash AITA for calling a guy out for potentially trying to creep on vulnerable girls?

I matched with this dude on tinder (23M) . We kept talking and he asked me to follow him on Instagram and I noticed some red flags.
1: Before he accepted my follow request, my Insta showed his account was made only a few months prior. He never mentioned this.
2: I checked his following to make sure he doesn’t have a girlfriend but his follows were weird. He had a very small amount of follows and they were all girls, and not like famous people, but just regular girls. And the girls who he followed followed him back. This was weird to me because where are his friends?
3: He would constantly ask for pictures, but not by texting them, but by sending disappearing photo messages saying “please send me a pic of you, you are so beautiful” and I would say I’m busy and my instagram has a lot so you can look through them. Even when I would repeatedly tell him I couldn’t send pictures, he would keep insisting, adding even more compliments and try again the next day.
4: I looked through his following list again yo check the individual profiles. The girls were mostly 18 and still in/graduating from highschool.
5: 2 days into us talking, he asked me “what are you sexual preferences and what do you like sexually”. I said this is way too early to ask this and we haven’t been on a date yet. He went on to explain how he is a very sexual person and he needs to have sex atleast once a day. I said lol that won’t work because I have a life and couldn’t feasibly see you everyday. And then he drops the bomb that for me to be his girlfriend I would have to live with him. He said makes over 100k a month and he would even compromise and get a place for both of us close to my job. I was stunned and I gave so many reasons why I don’t want to do that and why that won’t work for me but he kept trying to push compromises and solutions saying that if I can’t see him everyday I need to send him nudes to alleviate that and always be around to sext him
This is where I might be the asshole and when I decide to confront him about the red flags. I asked why he follows only girls and he said he got hacked and made a new account. Then where are your friends and he said “is it a crime to have no friends? I lost all my friends to grind to get this job so I can get a place for us”. He also tried to guilt me saying he is making all these compromises for me, why can’t I make any for him.
I questioned him again asking why most of these girls are freshly 18 and it seems like you go for these girls because they would be easier to convince to be down for this arrangement you got going on. He got angry at me saying how dare I call those women ugly and I’m projecting and I stopped responding.
A few days later I check his account and he posted more pictures, and made his following and follower list more “normal” which made me laugh because if there wasn’t a problem before, why change it up.
So AITA? Was I reaching and projecting or was he being a creep and I was right to call him out.

2024.05.16 04:53 NoiseMarineCaptain Fulgrims Muse FF PT2

After several hours, and many ruined combat servitors later, the Muse sat in the Officer's Mess Hall of the Conqueror. Tessarius had left him, saying that he had nothing to fear from the Astartes of the XII. He was supping on the same pale nutrient paste the Astartes supped on. He wished he was back with Fulgrim aboard the Pride of the Emperor drinking wine and eating real food when a woman sat on the seat across from him.
"Hello miss," he coughed, rising from his seat in a gesture of decorum. He bowed slightly. "Heinrich Verity," he grinned and extended a hand to shake hers.
"Rose," she said without extending her hand in turn. A bit flustered he sat back down on his seat.
"A pleasure Mamsell Rose," the Muse said. The woman had a hard look about her. Strong, fit, scarred. Maybe someone from the clans of the Gunnery Deck? But why did she wear the Butchers Nails of the XII? He couldn't fathom why she had been allowed up here.
"You're Fulgrim's thing then? Is that right," she said assuredly.
Heinrich's posture sharpened slightly, his eyes narrowing.
"Excuse me," he asked.
"Her Muse? Or whatever? The one Lotarra is up in arms about because you destroyed a few servitors with that voice of yours?"
The Muse blushed slightly. He wasn't a singer. He didn't really understand where the Noise he was able to produce came from.
"Well yes...that is me I suppose. I do resent being referred to as the Primarchs thing though," he felt a disturbing force welling in his throat. "We are partners if that's what you meant."
Mamsell Rose laughed long and hard and banged the table, the laugh settling into snorts and giggles.
"Are all you III Legion bastards so proper," she asked.
"Are all XII Legion crewman allowed to dine in the Officer's Mess," he bit back angrily.
Mamsell Rose stood. He saw the Nails in her scalp ticking. He wasnt entirely sure how the horrid Archeotech affected the XII, but he was aware of the influence they had on the aggression of those cursed to wear them. Her powerful muscles flexed as she easily vaulted the table to sit on the stool next to him.
"Oh pretty little Muse, we are more alike than you think," she said wrapping her arm, impossibly large, around his shoulders.
"How do you mean Mamsell," he asked doing his best not to flinch from the contact and staring into her black eyes.
"We're both damned," she said flatly, in a near whisper. "Angron made the whole Legion get the Nails. Many fought it. She killed them. I underwent the process to make her happy...because I love her so," the Muse saw tears welling in the Mamsells eyes and how hideously the Nails began to tick. "Tell me pretty Muse...what have you done to make Fulgrim happy?"
Heinrich thought of the many surgeries he had undergone at the hands of Lieutenant-Commander Fabius. Thought of the power now welling in his throat.
"I've...everything in my power. I love her," the Muse whispered back.
"And yet here we are. Two damned things. In love with damned things," Mamsell Rose said.
"Primarch Fulgrim... and Primarch Angron... are loyal children of the Emperor. I dont understand..." Heinrich stammered.
Rose caught him easily by the throat and squeezed. Heinrich watched the Nails ticking harder than ever, tears streaking down Rose's face.
"If you think that? If you really think that!? Go back to Fulgrim when we're in orbit over Istvaan III. ASK HER WHY WE'RE REALLY HERE!"
She threw him then. He passed over a few tables before landing on the floor of the Mess Hall dragging chairs with him until he was sprawled in a mess.
When he got up Mamsell Rose was gone.

2024.05.16 04:52 Naive-Education1820 Step Family of Leeches

This is a long one. My dad remarried 7 or so years ago now when I was 19 and in college. It moved very fast. My step mother has very little money and two sons, one is one year older than me and the other is one year younger. So, we were all in college when they got married.
My step mom is fine. She’s a nice lady to me. She annoys me because she talks way too much and makes every convo about herself. She doesn’t get social cues and made my brothers wedding about her. That’s beside the point. My issue is she emotionally manipulates my frugal father into bank rolling her adult children.
My father has never been easy, especially about money. He was a tough but overall great parent to me and my brother. He is generally not happy. Never really has been. High stress job. He was happy when they started dating, then it moved fast. The last 4 or so years, every time I’m there, they’re fighting. She always cries. She emotionally manipulates him to get her way, EVERY TIME. I don’t think either of them thought this through and she is not compatible with him at all. He is very controlling about the money he’s made and spends very little. He’s honestly controlling about most things. So, to “have some say” she got a job at $75k per year. He makes 8x that. She wants to have say in the investments and my dad has admitted to me that he doesn’t want her input because her $ doesn’t even cover the mortgage. He is also in finance and she’s in the arts… not the sharpest tool in the shed either.
My dad has been financially anxious my entire life, even with his high salary. I had a very blessed life but was still somehow stressed about $. I went to private school, did expensive extra curriculars, travelled a bunch. I was in this “society” but we told I was poor… Weird dynamic with my mom because she was a spender. He was very very tough love which made me who I am. He was a loving father, truly. We have a good relationship.
Ok anyway why im posting and very enraged. When we were in college, I found out my dad started helping to pay for my step brothers private college. Mind you, we barely know this kid and $ has been a “stress” my whole life. Also, kids father has a good job too. Then, we all graduate. I was told my ENTIRE life “you’re not getting bank rolled after college. I paid, you’re out.” So naturally, my brother and I worked our asses off to secure high paying jobs and not rely on our father. Also, dad wouldn’t help us with our careers because he wanted us to have the satisfaction of earning everything ourselves. The step brother LIVES in my dad’s home (step mom pays nothing) for FIVE YEARS after college and inherits a BMW my father bought for my step mother (against my dad’s wishes). My dad got him interviews and his current job. This has been a source of major annoyance for me and my brother. Would’ve been nice to save that money for 5 years after college (honestly, we didn’t want to live w her) but it was never an option for us and we knew that. We also shared a used ford escape that was always breaking down in our teen years. We had to pay for every fix! My dad’s explanation is “you and your brother are different because you’re extremely well adjusted and I raised you that way.” My dad has also expressed so much frustration with this kid but just gives in to step mom.
Fast forward to today. I get the invite for the other step brothers wedding. Guess who is hosting the welcome party? Not my step mother and her ex husband but the [my last name] family. Ex husband is paying for wedding after party. For my brothers wedding, my dad penny pinched every inch of the welcome party. I don’t expect a lavish wedding myself. This kid is getting married beach front. Welcome party has to be at least $50k.
My absolute biggest concern is when my father dies, she will get the majority. Then, when she dies, her sons will not only have had their college paid, their car paid and their lives post college bank rolled but they will inherit my father’s $ as well. I wouldn’t care if I didn’t get a dime, I’ll be fine financially, only if they didn’t either. They’re leeches.
It’s just ridiculous. They got married when these children were adults. They didn’t have a childhood of financial fights and tough love. I know my dad doesn’t want to do this. He’s expressed annoyance about this. It makes me majorly resentful of my step family.

2024.05.16 04:51 MasterOfSpeed111 How should I (25M) tell my S/O (25F) that I previously went on dates with her friend/coworker?

Before I get started I wanted to say there was no cheating or emotional manipulation (I hope?) involved. I'm relatively new to dating casually as I had always imagined marrying the person I was dating and thought it would take 1, maybe 2 tries max. After a few bad relationships I realized maybe I wasn't ready to be in one and decided I'd focus on myself and maybe casually date at most (hookups, occasional romantic dates, etc.).
The girl in question (I'll call her Jen) that I was with for a short amount of time is a coworker to both me and my partner (I'll call her Lisa). We all work for the same company, but they are closer as friends because they work on the same team. I had spent time with Jen for about a month or two and thought I might have liked her despite a lot of differences in our interests and personalities. But she ended up turning down my suggestion of possibly being more than just friends, and I was okay with it because I was having fun being single anyways and we had continued being friends and I don't believe there was any awkwardness in our relationship moving forward and there hasn't been any lingering feelings for each other because it was so casual. Also, we never had sex, but we did kiss so I'm bringing this up for my question later.
At one point we had a group outing involving me, Jen, Lisa, and another friend. This created a friend group that I still occasionally hang out with and have done fun outings including some of my other friends, and this is how I started hanging out with Lisa. We had a shared interest event that I invited the group to individually and none of them could make it, but Lisa did end up saying yes to another unrelated outing and we really clicked. Lisa and I had begun hanging out around 2 months after Jen and I decided we would just remain friends. I started spending time with Lisa almost every day because she ended up having a ton of things in common with me to the point where we were basically the same person when we would share details of our lives. It took a couple months to realize we had differences, all this being a silly exaggerated joke to simply explain that this girl is my soulmate and I have been loving everything about her since dating her.
It's only been about 6 months but now things are getting more serious and us dating has been the best relationship I've ever been in, so I wanted to make sure I do things right and be completely open and honest with her. Honesty has never been an issue with me because I'm a very open book, but when it comes to my feelings I've had trouble being open in the past and don't want to make that mistake in my current relationship. I just wanted to know the best way to bring up the past fling with Jen to make sure I'm not lying to her by omission by not disclosing a past situationship(?) with her closest coworker friend. I hadn't thought it was worth bringing up because I hadn't previously thought about anybody my partners had been dating before me because it didn't seem relevant because she was happy with me and that's all that mattered. But another Reddit post made me wonder if this is something Lisa should be made aware of sooner rather than later, especially since she and Jen are pretty close.
So to recap: Jen and I had hung out casually for ~2 months. Near the end of this time, group chat is created including Jen, Lisa, and I. 1 month later Lisa and I start hanging out just us two. 1 month after that, we officially start dating. 6 months later, today happened.
So Reddit, am I overthinking this? Do I just let Lisa know that before we had started dating, Jen and I had hung out a couple times even if there was never any romantic feelings, or is there a more nuanced way to go about it because being too direct may come off as a bit too strong? Is this even worth bringing up? I'd like to know how maybe you'd like to be told this if you were in this situation. I appreciate the time it took for you to read this far and hope you're having a good day.

2024.05.16 04:50 TheForce122 I figured out who created SARS-COV-2

I figured out who created SARS-COV-2
Nathan Wolfe (Rothschild-Epstein-Maxwell asset) of DARPA/EcoHealth/Gates Foundation ran the COVID-19 creation operation with Peter Daszak of EcoHealth via the Global Virome Project (Wuhan Lab). Nathan Wolfe dedicated his book "Viral Storm" to Israeli spy Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Gates and is BFF with Israeli spy Ghislaine Maxwell.

Here's former CDC director Robert Redfield under oath before the Congress on Wuhan Lab September 2019 events:
https://www.youtube.com/live/aXXWRaM-sWQ?feature=share
I will say if you go back and look, it's declassified now, and I'm sure you all have your classified briefings, but the declassified information now:
In September of 2019, three things happened in that lab, one is they deleted the sequences, that was highly irregular, researchers don't usually like to do that
Second thing they did was they changed the command and control of the lab from the civilian control to the military control. Highly unusual, and I've been involved in dual use labs when I was in the military.
And the third thing they did which I think is really telling is they let a contractor redo the ventilation system in that laboratory. So I think clearly there was strong evidence that there was a significant event that happened in that laboratory in September. It's now been declassified, you can read it. I'm sure there's more classified information around it.
Scientist Richard Ebright
The relevance of this is that SARS Cov-2, the pandemic virus, is the only virus in its entire genus of SARS-related coronaviruses that contains a fully functional cleavage site at the S1, S2 junction. And here is a proposal from the beginning of 2018 [from Fauci/Gates-funded EcoHealth Alliance] proposing explicitly to engineer that sequence at that position in chimeric lab- generated coronaviruses.
Eminent Virologist David Baltimore of CalTech
When I first saw the furin cleavage site in the viral sequence, with its arginine codons, I said to my wife it was the smoking gun for the origin of the virus. These features make a powerful challenge to the idea of a natural origin for SARS2.
Former CDC Director Robert Redfield:
I was concerned because of the presence of the furin cleavage site that we've talked about and I think it's important to understand what that cleavage site does. That cleavage site totally changes the orientation of the binding domain of COVID, so where before it could not see the ACE2 receptor which is the human receptor, it totally changes the orientation now so it has high affinity for human receptors. So that furin cleavage site bothered me, it didn't seem like it belonged there.
And then if you look at the sequences they use in those 12 nucleotides for arginine, where the arginine sequence nucleotide triplet were coded for humans. So why did it have the arginine coding for humans and not bat? It was very disconcerting to me. It looked like this virus was engineered.
It's not scientifically plausible that this virus went from a bat to humans and became one of the most infectious viruses that we have for humans.
Scientist Valentin Bruttel:
I tried to raise awareness to this for a year now. WIV use BsaI and BsmBI/Esp3I sites before to make synthetic WIV1 variants. And exactly those sites appear in a "silently introduced, perfect for synthetic assembly" pattern in SARS2, but non of its nat. relatives.
seriously, what is the chance that exactly those type IIs restriction appear or disappear through random evolution in a Banal-20-52 like virus? 5-6 precise mutations in 30000bp? about 1 in 1020! SARS2 is clearly synthetic!
Type Ils restriction sites prove a synthetic origin
Synthetic RNA viruses are assembled at the DNA level and later transcribed. 30,000 nucleotides cannot be synthesized in one go. These viruses are therefore assembled from smaller, 2- 8,000 nucleotide long pieces. Specific DNA restriction sites are often added to later reassemble the individual building blocks in the correct order. It is also technically possible to hide these interfaces (No See'em), but this was not done in the WIV.
In a 2017 paper, two very specific, particularly suitable type Ils restriction enzymes were used at the WIV. These have the advantage that they can produce different DNA overhangs (sticky ends), which are crucial for a correct assembly of the complete genome: Bsal and BsmBI.
SARS2 shows a Bsal and BsmBI restriction site pattern which is ideal for assembling synthetic viruses and to later replace the spike protein or furin cleavage site.
Bsal and BsmBI restriction sites also exist in closely related viruses (Banal20-52, RaTG13), but these are distributed in such a way that an artificial virus could never be generated using the methods established at WIV 2018/19.
The probability that the required 5 synonymous mutations, which enable a synthetic assembly of SARS2, arose purely by chance is less than 1 in 1020 or about as likely as winning the lottery jackpot 3 times in a row.

2024.05.16 04:48 TheMongooser Why I cut you off

I'm sorry I made you upset by ghosting you, but I can't fucking do this shit over and over again. You have no filter. You say honestly heinous things in view of others, and I tell you to stop and you never listen. Whenever I ask you to stop doing something because it's uncomfortable for me, you cry and I feel bad. Ive learnt to just never bring up when things make me stressed because of you.
You can be violent. When you snapped that ruler and sent a shard of plastic at my neck, when someone slightly inconveniences you, you threaten them with torture.
There's nothing between us anymore. Over the years I've changed and matured, I have little in common with the boy you became friends with all those years ago. I'm a different person now. You've stayed the same, you still act like your 9.
Ever since I met new people and developed friendships with them, I realized how fucking toxic you are. I'm sorry I hurt you by cutting contact but it's so hard to keep going like this.
The people I talk with are understanding. They have filters, they are reasonable and I feel like I'm part of a group. With you I feel like a therapist and punching bag.
I hope you grow and mature. Maybe, once you've changed we can talk again, but for now I'm leaving.

2024.05.16 04:47 Least-Ad-1806 How to deal with a partner having extreme mood swings and delusions

My boyfriend has schizoaffective but in his mind he doesn't. So that makes it very difficult for him to be adherent to a treatment. He started vraylar in december at 1.5mg only but his psychiatrist and myself think he would benefit an increase of dosage. Instead, he started "forgetting" alot to take his meds, to the point he wad taking 1 dose per week during an entire month. I saw that and told him why and suggest him to follow the treatment for now to fully see what are the effects. He was more consistent (at least I think) during the past month...but then he started smoking cannabis (THC) again, smoking, and taking lots of energy drinks. Today was his birthday. I offered him a gift and he was very happy. I bought a cake and we had a nice moment. Then, he went to his dads after dinner (which is out of town for work) and came back at the end of the evening, in a completely different mood. Almost as if he was a totally different person. His eyes gets bigger, the pupils, and he acts very dramatic and almost theatratical, and gets very expressive, says mean things to me and about everyone being the problem, and talks about wanting to punch people randomly...then laughs, then makes fun of me, argue alone about nothing but saying everything is my fault and that he can't endure me. He often talks to himself when in those kind of states. Like he has delusions and thinks I confront him but I do nothing : I was studying maths for my exams as it is the last week of the semester. Then he yells and gets very angry and irritable and left, and then wrote me he no longer wants to see me and that he would never not respect himself anymore by eating cake he didn't want. 30 min later he just sent me a pic of him nude lol. But earlier today he was happy and I told him not to eat the cake if he didn't want to. And he wanted to see me earlier and yesterday he was hugging me and being affectionnate. I don't know what to do and what not to do. It happened before when he was off meds it was chaotic. The mood swings were very extreme and very short, and sometimes (majority of the time) he would forget about it! Like he broke up with me at night, and was kissing me the next morning like if nothing happened. Then he could be hypomanic doing physics calculs of a fictive project as if it was an emergency and gets very centered on himself and gets irritable if I try to talk to him. He wants me to listen to him, but gets mads and yells and sometimes even hurt me physically by grabbing my wrist hard and sometimes threatened me to hurt me or punch me...
I am thinking of taking contact again with his psychiatrist once my exams are done in 10 days. She is very compassionate and empathetic, and I trust her, and he likes her also, at least more than his previous psychiatrist.
Do you have any suggesting for how to deal with a someone delusional having extreme and short mood swings? Sometimes I get hurt and take things personally and it makes me feel miserable.

2024.05.16 04:47 PhrogPiss Mom thinks the books I have been listening to are too sexual. Bruh.(Spoilers for Benni Harper Mysteries? Kinda?)

Mom thinks the books I have been listening to are too sexual. Bruh.(Spoilers for Benni Harper Mysteries? Kinda?)
Recently I have been reading a lot of more books and 99% of them are more "adult". More serious themes and violence ect. I have read the Night Angel Trilogya while ago and didn't tell her a lot about the story aside from the main action and violence because, honestly, I thought I was a bit too young for the story topic. I wanted to finish the whole series though haha.
The past few months I have gotten very into books of most genres. I recently got into a series that was free on Audible called The Rise Of Mankind. I'm on book two so far and I really like the game like aspects of the story and the corny af moments. Both books I have lisened to have a "I get to cuss because my parents aren't home" kinda vibes that make the story super funny. That is 100% unintentional but I find it absolutely hilarious. Obviously that vibe includes a lot of sex jokes and sexual innuendos.
I was in the living room playing stardew valley or something with the second book playing and she said something along the lines of, "Ugh, why is everything in that book about sex? Every time i start listening someones talking about sex." Like bro, its not my fault you start listening after 45 minutes of '2xp to dex, 4xp to hp, oh lets summon 3 sets of 3 monsters for X points, ect. Ect.' And one of the MANY DUDES make a passing joke. It's not my fault you ain't listenin' to the long list of random seeming numbers and magical battles.🤣 She isn’t even upset about the violence and cussing, it's ONLY the sexual jokes and flirting.
There's another book series that I sarted that is the most tame sh*t ever. Its a murder mystery book series called Benni Harper Mysteries. The chick who wrote it is a Christian, the mc is a somewhat traditional Christian during the 90s and there's some romance. (I told her about that btw) It has the least sexual romance in any of the other books I have read/listened to recently, including books that me and my mom both listened to together. I told her about all the gossipy drama in the story and the relationships between all the characters and stuff. I mentioned the cute romance between the mc and her HUSBAND that had slight hubby and wife romance (not sexual at all but they are married and we all know what married people do, lol) , and she had a look on her face that showed disapproval. I thought it was in my head but then I told her about a funny moment in the beginning of the third book.
Mc and her hubby are jogging to "get healthy 👍" and her back starts hurting. She complains and her hubby's like, 'fine let me give you a massage so you'll stop complaining.' She lets him and groans. He says "Don't tempt me like that, querida. I'm used to hearing those sounds when I have you flat on your back and naked." Mc is shook and she playfully punches him in the stomach calling him a perv. Then the main plot happens with her finding a dead body and all that.
My brother knew it would be funny and read it all dramatic outloud and was wheezing but my mom said "That's disgusting, I can't belive you read that stuff." She played it off like a joke after she said it but she was very obviously honest about what she said and how she said it.
I think I'm just going to go my "Night Angel route"©️ and just give the most basic of basic plot spoiling, because the whole thing with Rise of Mankind was so unbelievably embarrassing that I felt uncomfortable finishing the book while I was playing. I DO NOT want to experience that again.
Has anyone else had moments like this with people? How awkward was it? 😆

2024.05.16 04:46 Major_Drummer579 How to get more clients

A while back. I made a post on here about being frustrated that im not getting a good flow of clientle. Fast forward im not booked up but my days are busy and i make 1200 minimum a week with a 65:35 comission based shop . I know in a couple months ill be a booked up barber. Let me give you the tips that helped me
Step 1: Always make sure you greet the client with a handshake and a smile and ask for their name. You have to build a relationship with this person. They need to feel welcomed and feel like 30-40 dollars is going to good use. Also it gives you a chance to network and create better oppurtunities in the future
Step 2 A good haircut. Always ask your the person in your chair a few questions to know what they want, for example. "How much are we taking off the top" " do you like your neck shaved with the blade or the foil shaver" You have to go into detail because some people care about the small things in their haircuts and if they feel like your doing your best to give a good cut, theyll feel appreciated
Step 3 Be convenient, you might have to sacrifice your time a little to please some clients but its fine until your weeks are booked then you can have a set schedule
Step 4 Make sure they get your number or insta. I always say something like " you should take my insta or number, if you really like the cut then you can hit me up anyday but thursday since im off" Some would even ask for my number while their in the chair still. Thats when i know i secured a returning client
Hope this helps. Keep pushing, some days will be slow but you have to stay consistent and make sure you work in a place that promotes well and has good walk in traffic!

2024.05.16 04:46 emotionalmooncake How do I (F24) tell my sister (F 35) that her dog does not want to live with her?

So I live with my younger sister (F20) and two dogs. One dog is my younger sister's name Jill and the other dog is Jack that is my older sister's dog. Jack lives with me and my younger sister because he was very ill and underweight when he lived with my older sister. For the one year he lived with my older sister he became severely underweight, he refused to eat to the point where his esophagus nearly collapsed, and he got kennel cough. He looked horrible and he looked like he aged 10 years because of how stressed he was. My older sister thinks it is because she lived in apartment. The thing is when he first lived with me and my younger sister we were also living in an apartment.
I think his health deteriorated because of her. At that time she was with her on/off again boyfriend and would spend hours having arguments on the phone like full on screaming matches. When he first started to live with me and my younger sister he would have a severe reactions if my sister or I raised our voice or had an argument. It took a year for him to stop having a bad reaction. My older sister's way of displine is spanking and Jack was terrified of that. He flinched if you raised your hand. She also never took Jack and her other dog on regular walks. She just made them use the balcanoy. She also regularly fed Jack and her other dog human food. Jack is very old. He is going 14 this year and at the time of living with her he was 12. He would regularly have diarrhea and have an upset stomach. Every since he started to live with me and my younger sister. His life has improved. He is back to a healthy weight. He eats every night. I have a set rotinue for him. I also want to say that I, our mom, and my younger sister have been covering any cost related to Jack and Jill that includes vet bills. I have not once ask her for money nor has she offered.
I feel guilty that I did not intervene sooner. I do not forgive her for making his health so bad. Now that she is in the process of getting a house. She is been bringing up a possible custody agreement. The thing is I do not want that. I do not want Jack and Jill in her care. I am willing to let her see the dogs more often but I do not want to interupped their routine especially because of their age. I do not want to stress them out. They are very happy and content with me and my sister. I work from home. So the dogs get a lot of attention from me.
I need advice to tell her that it is because her that his health was in decline not her housing. I also want to say her behavior has not changed. In fact I think it got worse. Her other dog is not allowed things like a squeaky toy because she "hates" the noise. I think it very sad to do that to a dog. Jack adores squeaky toys. He used to hunt rats and I use squeaky toys to simulate him and make sure he isn't bored. I am concerned that if I follow a custody agreement that Jack and Jill's health would deteriorate. I do not want to lose these dogs. They have been in my life since I was in middle school. I would not forgive her if they died because she stressed them out. I do not know how to tell her that I do not think it is a good idea for Jack to live with her.

2024.05.16 04:46 midnightcoding5 What happens if a medical coder makes a mistake?

This was a question that I have come across a few times recently. Basically new coders (or people thinking of becoming a coder) are wondering-What happens if I make a mistake? Will I be get fired? Be in trouble? I could see why this would be a concern. Medical coders are held to a very high standard both by ourselves and the industry.
But let's think about this--what happens if a coder makes a mistake? Let's start by saying--no one is perfect. Every single person who is working now as a coder, has made mistakes at one point or another.
The thing that most companies look for is your average accuracy rate. I don't have an exact number of what all places are, but in my experience (which is radiology coding) a coder had to always have a 95% or above accuracy rate. Different places audited coders at different times. Sometimes it was monthly. Sometimes it's daily. It really depends how the company is set up. Another thing to keep in mind too--was it a CPT or ICD-10-CM mistake? Usually a CPT error is counted differently against a coder than an ICD-10-CM error. In other words--it's worse to make a CPT mistake than a ICD-10-CM mistake because there is a more likely chance the claim will be denied because of this. So what happens to the coder? It depends how often you're making mistakes. Everyone makes a mistake once in a while. So if this is a rare occurrence for you--in short--nothing happens. Maybe your manager will let you know about it, but that is it. I think what's important here is how you handle it. I think medical coders by nature are perfectionists. So if we hear we make a mistake...we don't like that and may get defensive about it.
If you're told you made a mistake and truly don't think it was a mistake, you can bring proof (an authoritative source) to your manager and talk about it. Just be careful here--all places are set up differently and managers are different. Sometimes it might be best not to say anything. But if it's really bothering you--yes, it's ok to say something. Sometimes auditors make mistakes too and I'm telling you this as an auditor--there have been times that I marked something as incorrect when it really wasn't. Does that happen often? No. But it has occasionally. I don't mind when coders tell me to recheck something. I've had coders come to me an explain their thought process and use sources. If I can see their point of view--there has absolutely been times when the coder proved me wrong. I don't think that makes me a bad auditor--all it means is that I'm human too. So in short--everyone in the industry will make mistakes sometimes.
If you're wondering what happens to the actual claim that was coded wrong--usually a corrected claim will be sent in if it denied because of the error. In my experience the person who originally coded the report is not the same person who does the corrected claim--but it may work different elsewhere.
My whole point in writing this really, is don't let being afraid of making mistakes stop you from pursuing medical coding! It is an awesome field to be in.

2024.05.16 04:45 BTNewberg01 Do the Disks of Mishakal need to be translated?

Do the Disks of Mishakal need to be translated?
Do the disks of Mishakal need to be translated before they can be read?
I seem to recall in the novels that translating the disks of Mishakal was a significant feat for Elistan, though now I cannot seem to locate the reference. The Dragonlance wiki says the disks are written in an "unknown language" and it sounds like they were never fully translated (see the Reductionist vs. Completist theological debate). However, the module DL1 Dragons of Despair says no such thing, only that "Priests who read this book gain knowledge of the True Gods of good," as if they can be read without difficulty.
I understand of course that DL1 was written before the novels, sources are often inconsistent, and that the disks are a motif drawn from Hickman's Mormonism. I'm not interested in any of that. Rather, I'm interested in how other folks here make sense of the disks in their own headcanon.
If the disks do require translation in order to read, how do you make sense of that in a world with the comprehend languages spell? Or Tasslehoff's glasses of true seeing? Are they divinely resistant to these means for some reason? But why in the world would the gods make them resistant to magical comprehension, especially when they are the key to returning faith in the true gods to Krynn?
If the disks do not require translation, how could that be? They are thousands of years old and Common hadn't evolved yet back then. So, do the disks magically appear to the reader in their own native language, or what?
Interested to hear how all of this rattles around in your headcanon.
P.S. How come there are so few depictions of the disks? All I could find was the horrendous cartoon, and a comic book panel that depicts them as square pages, apparently failing to understand the meaning of the word "disk"!

2024.05.16 04:45 IShouldRllyBeWorking Giving men the opportunity to disappoint you

Writing this super high so, if its bitchy I am so sorry.
Ive been dating this guy for almost a year now. He's almost 30 at this point. I'm 22. Its been great so far. He's met my friends, they love him. I've met his friends, we get along. I've met some of his family. We've been on like 4 or 5 little weekend trips or week trips together. Our relationship has been great for me. I met him last year, as I was going through an awful breakup. He didn't start as a boyfriend, just somebody I met, but he was there when I needed someone to listen, he was kind to me when I needed it and after my ex moved out, he came over and told me he had developed feelings for me and he asked me on our first date. That went spectacularly well and now we're here.
He treats me better than any man I've ever been with before. Hands down. This relationship has brought out sides of me that I didn't know I had. Now I'm into like going out and having fun and I'm into traveling and sports and shit. Like, even sexually this relationship has pulled me out of a rut from my last relationship and has like brought out the dominant sides in me and has gotten me into topping. Like the fact me and him can fuck twice in a day and both cum at the same times?? Never experienced anything like that before.
The problem for me at this point is how well its going. We're almost a year in. At this point he's aggressively talking about and brining up moving in together. Feels like healthy/natural progression of a relationship. But omg i am SCARED about this. Feel like this is going too well. I walk around feeling like i'm in a fairytale with him. This feels like too peaceful of an ending for me to have this early. Part of me feels like its too good to be true and its all going to blow up. Like this is shit that happens to pretty people on facebook, I'm not even that pretty.
Then the toxic part of me steps in and says, dont let it blow up. Bring it all to a stop before it can blow up, that way you're not the one whose hurt this time.
It just sucks because every time he holds me and I look in his eyes, I see my ex. and that terrifies me because he was an awful experience for me that i would rather live the rest of my life alone than go through again :( anybody else going through any shit (to be more descriptive - anxiety, about things suddenly going south or a relationship suddenly going to shit after someone shows their true colors) like this or been through it?

2024.05.16 04:44 _okey_doke Something I've been wondering and something that's been affecting me

Does anyone know what it means when a family is "red flagged" and gets a social worker that visits a few times.
Also, I've been told by my therapist that I've experienced a lot of abuse and trauma based on what I've told him. My dad admitted to being abusive when I was younger but recently contradicted that by saying he was never that bad of a dad and he never wanted to read my text messages again after he read them when I was younger and saw i was talking about him. He said that I'm lying to people and all this shit about you shouldn't lie, it was the same thing when I had a social worker for a few visits when I was younger after I had told a guidance counselor some of the things that went on. I experience psychotic symptoms from bpd so I dont know if I imagined my abuse. My mom also told me "you know your lying" when I told her I got touched in my own bed. And said that I'm just trying to get her husband taken away. He also admitted he used to drink too much before he cut back because beer messes up your stomach.

2024.05.16 04:43 Naive-Education1820 I’m a step daughter. Rant on step family leeching.

AITA for feeling this way?
