Hello all !
Unfortunately I am waiting at the moment to see if my 1 year old cat will survive or not, it’s terrible.
For context, she ran away Sunday evening, and we found her yesterday evening, after around 20 hours outside, she was hidden in a pipe and wouldn’t come out so we had to call the firefighters. Ever sincer we brought her home she has been lethargic, didn’t eat at all, but drank plenty of water. I was hoping she is just traumatized by the experience, being her first time outside, but I took it to the vet this morning since I saw no improvement overnight. The vet’s presumptive diagnosis is that she is intoxicated with something, since she had 35 degrees Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) and she is hospitalized at the moment. They are warming her up, giving IVs and we are waiting for the blood tests.
Even if I am a doctor myself, I have no idea what to expect. My biggest fear is that she is intoxicated with ethylene-glycol (antifreeze) but who the hell uses antifreeze in the south of France ? I know that in that case the chances are close to zero, as in humans. But still hoping that is some insecticide or pesticide in which case the prognostic is better.
Anyway, needed a place to share my story while waiting for news (hopefully good). Has anyone of you been through something similar ? Intoxicated cat and outcome, you can share your story. God bless you all and our furry friends ! 🙏🏽

Hey, so you know how every heat “level” basically represents 10 degrees Celsius?
Well, after the storm, the temperature rises from -150 degrees to -30 degrees. Which should be great, right?
Yes…except for when people are in their fully insulated houses and infirmaries, with the generator blasting at full power with overdrive.
For a house, that’s 4 heat levels with the upgrades, and the generator is an additional 6 heat levels with overdrive. Essentially, all of this is providing 100 degrees of warmth! So when the temperature rises to -30, the resulting house temperature is +70 degrees Celsius, or 158 degrees Fahrenheit! And infirmaries I believe are even higher!
So congrats, you survived the storm! But make sure to turn off that overdrive!

So at my Sunday League I’ve been trying to get more field time. And I have. But it’s been decided that I need to return to being in goal. No problem. But I might have to split the workload with someone from half to half. We both like playing in goal and we both like playing in the outfield. I know it’s less than ideal but I’m willing to give it a try. We’re back to playing outside and it’s going to start getting warm now. 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit about between 26-32 degrees Celsius. In the winter I wear padded Adidas Tierro pants. I love them. They protect me well. Im usually able to get them on over my shorts if I have to slot in for keeper in a pinch. Our time between halves are like 3-5 minutes. Not enough time for me to get to the car or portapotty to change.
Can anyone recommend lightweight breathable pants or something I can wear for easy ripping off between halves? How about long sleeves? I didn’t wear them before but I keep getting turf burns and cuts. Just annoying. Or should I just suck it up?

Hi. I have bought frozen pork sausages. The package instructs "To heat 600W for 2 minutes, for 1 portion". I have an airfryer, that asks for a temperature in Celsius/Fahrenheit and the timer. For example - 200 Celsius for 10 minutes.
The package does not say anything else related to heating. I cannot understand how to achieve "600W for 2 minutes" using my Airfryer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've been on Sertraline for anxiety for 3 years and I'm currently living in my uni halls.
The temperature is meant to peak at 23° Celsius (73° Fahrenheit) today, and I was struggling yesterday when the heat was less. I had to take multiple cold showers.
My room and shared kitchen have large west-facing windows - it's been known to get ridiculously hot in here during the winter, so it's a nightmare now the weather's getting hotter.
The logical solution would be to go somewhere else on campus to cool down - but my anxiety levels are really high at the moment due to a couple of factors, and leaving my room/halls would make it significantly worse.
The only things I have at my disposal to cool me down is a shower and ice packs. I don't have ice cubes or other frozen treats, I don't have a fan, I don't have a paddling pool or bucket to put my feet in. I can wear cool clothes but that's about my only option.
What do y'all reccomend?

So I have homebridge running on my raspberry pi, and I am using kiwi_cam broadlink rm pro plugin (with my rm4 mini + temp sensor cord). Everything works fine, except the display unit for current temp is in Celsius (target temp is in Fahrenheit). I have tried everything.. set HomeKit to F, set iPhone to F, set homebridge UI to F, set plugin code (“temperatureDisplayUnits”:”F”). Nothing works. Drives me crazy because the home app shows 30° and if I ask Siri what the temp in my room is, I get a range of 30-70 whatever degrees. Anyone had a similar issue / fix?

How safe is it for dolls to be displayed in a hot room? How hot is too hot? With summer coming up I’m wondering if maybe I should store my dolls away during the hottest months to protect them. I keep them out of direct sunlight but my bedroom gets evening sun and it gets hot in there. Hottest weather where I am is roughly 40 Celsius/ 104 Fahrenheit with moderate humidity and ac isn’t common here. I just want to keep my dolls safe and I’m good condition as long as possible!

2024.05.10 17:10 OnlyMyCatKnows4Sure M2 Max studio seems to be throttling the SSD when it gets too warm.

Sorry for the long post. I’m trying to cover all the bases, but I haven’t slept in almost 21 hours, and my thoughts are a bit scattered at the moment.
So my question is more for M2 Max studio owners, but other M2 series owners of any machine are welcome to test their system and let me know what they find. So in a nutshell, I’m seeing the internal SSD throttling when it gets around 118-120 degrees Fahrenheit (about 48-49 Celsius). And I’m wondering if anyone can do some sustained write testing to get their SSD temps up, and tell me if they’re seeing it too?
My system Is an M2 Max (30 core GPU) w/64GB, 512 SSD, and MacOS 14.4.1). iStat Menu is used for general data speed and temperature monitoring, Blackmagic for drive benchmarking, and an external USB 4.0 enclosure (OWC 1M2) with a 4TB WD Black NVMe for my bulk high speed storage. Also, everything shows as fine with S.M.A.R.T.
I also have a 13” M1 MBP (16TB, 1TB), and interestingly, it does not show data slowdowns when the internal SSD gets hotter than the reported temps in the Studio.
It’s also worth noting that all components being used (on both systems) show W speeds in excess of 3000MB/s when benchmarked with Blackmagic (at least when cold).
So I noticed the problem last night when I was moving around 80GB from the external to the internal SSD. System temps were around 108-110 Fahrenheit (aggregate of all cores), and the SSD was in the mid/upper 90’s when I started the file copy. Initially, I was seeing transfer speeds of around 2.4-3.1GB/s depending on the size and number of files being transferred, which was the expected behavior. But then it dropped, and started writing between between 100 to 400MB/s (the speed was bouncing up and down at this point), and the copy was taking much longer than it should have.
I checked it with Blackmagic, and initially the speeds were showing as 3000+ W, but once the SSD got back up to those higher temps (took me a moment to engage BM), I started seeing W speeds around 1500MB/s, and then moving down to 500-600.
I tried rebooting, and initially it worked as expected until the temps creeped up again, then the same behavior was encountered. I also tried ramping up the fans from their roughly 1000rpm idle to 2500, and that seemed to allow the sustained transfer speeds I was expecting, but of course, the system is noisy AF at that point.
As I mentioned, the 2020 M1 MBP does not exhibit this behavior, and that’s without it’s fan kicking on ever. I ran the text for like 2 minutes, got the SSD temps to around 122-124F and it never so much as blinked.
I’ll do more testing once I’m awake again. But I’m wondering if I’m (hopefully) missing something here? I’d be surprised to see a machine with active cooling throttle the SSD like that, and while moving that much data to the Studio itself will be an infrequent occurrence, as I said, the MBP doesn’t do this at all. So it’s concerning to say the least.
Anyone have any ideas?

UPDATE: Just a quick update as I'll be busy for most of this weekend and didn't want to leave people hanging.
I can now safely say it's not temperature related, I've tested that throughly. And as of now, I'm pretty confident that u/OWC_TAL nailed it when they mentioned it possibly being a cache issue.
Here's what I've discovered: Using the program and settings recommended by u/OWC_TAL, I first tested the SSD using a 64GB file, and it consistently stuttered at the end of the write test. I then tried a 96GB file as I wanted to see if it would stutter for more than just a couple seconds at the end, and sure enough, it started at the same point as the 64GB one, and would continue until the write pass was done. Then I checked it using a 56GB file as it was somewhere around this size that it was starting to stutter, and this time it performed the read/write test with no real drop in speed (I ran this through multiple loops). So that lends a lot of credence to me having filled up the cache.
Things I've noticed: When it stutters, writes can drop down as low as 28MB/s when I did the 96GB test. Which kinda blows. :-(
Fun discoveries: Bear in mind this is using a 4TB WD Black SN850x NVMe in the Express 1m2 enclosure, it will vary with different NVMe's and different controllers/enclosures. Anyhoo, that same 96GB file test that stuttered on the internal SSD was smooth sailing on the 1m2. I even did a silly test of a 256GB file just to see what would happen, and it never slowed down, though it was still writing after the read test was done, so I imagine I probably could fill it's cache if I ran that test a couple of times back to back.
Things I still need to do: Run the same tests on my MBP to see where (or if) I can cause the writes to stutter (just for curiosities sake). And also get someone else to run the same tests on both a 512GB and 1TB Studio to see if the 512 results match mine, and if the 1TB version behaves differently with especially the 96GB file.
I will update again once I have more information.

Recently inherited a 72 litre tank from my mum and I bought an air stone to help aerate the water. Me and my partner decided to buy a couple of red dwarf gouramis from the local fish shop, one male and one female.
Everything seemed to be going swimmingly (heh) the first few days, but we've noticed this morning that there's a few telltale white spots on both the gouramis. I've attached a video below, it's easier to see on the female but there's definitely a couple on the male fish too.
I've done a couple of water tests recently and the nitrate, nitrite and chlorine levels all seem fine, although the alkalinity, carbonate ppm, and PH levels are all a bit high. I don't know if this would contribute at all?
As I understand the white spots could either be itch or epistylis, both treated in different ways with the latter being more fatal. The temperature of the tank is currently around 23 degrees celsius (roughly 73 degrees fahrenheit)
we're unsure if this is a cause for concern or maybe just a symptom of new fish being in a new tank? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Just an update on this thread that I hope can help some people not get taken advantage of. If you don't have time to read through this, the main point is — DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE...
EDIT: ....IF YOUR GO TO DRINK IS MILK BASED because TerraKaffe says that 90 degrees is an ok temperature for a latte or cappuccino - and it's not (for clarity, I bolded the edited portion of my post).
We bought two, and they are both experiencing different issues brand new out of the box. It took me more than 30 days to gather and document so many issues. So when I contacted support, we had been using the machines for just over two months.
Some issues overlap, and some are different - again, on TWO BRAND NEW MACHINES. More issues have developed since this email thread, specifically in regard to one machine's ability to produce any consistent texture of milk at all as opposed to spitting milk out every which way. One machine only brews drip coffee out of one side and is very inconsistent in the flow - the other is fine on that issue. Neither can produce a hot drink. Terra Kaffe does not care, and as you will read, has no plans to address the issues in any way - it doesn't matter if your machine isn't functioning properly at 2 months old - too bad. The milk feature being a fail is what really gets me because they hyped it SOOOOO much as an improvement from the TK-01. Their marketing is great - I will give them that.
EMAIL #1 TO TK-02 SUPPORT: (because they don't have a phone number - so that's kind of frustrating right away).
Subject: Issues with Milk, Drip Coffee, and Random Spitting Out Hot Water Message: Hello, we have two TK-02 machines, and both have been a challenge to work with. 1) Our machines are two of the many that experience "ghost brewing" which is dangerous and annoying, but we have found ways to deal with that (always leave a cup under the brewer, and kiddos not EVER allowed anywhere close to it). 2) Our drip coffee function does not work as demonstrated in videos - the coffee mainly comes out of only 1 side, not both. Although I don't know that this is causing any issue now, it is unsettling that ours does not work the way that others are demonstrated online - but ok, we'll deal with that anxiety. 3) The thing that really has us stumped is the milk. The steamed milk function of the machine does not work properly on two levels. First, the setting that controls the aeration of the milk does not make a demonstrable change in the outcome of the milk when rotated from the 12 o'clock position to the 6 o'clock position and in between. Second, the machine does not properly heat the milk when steaming it, so the only way to get a drink at the proper temperature is to make it and then microwave it. This is very disappointing to say the least. I have looked for any instructions on how to change the internal temperature settings for milk, but I cannot see a way to do that and have not come across a solution when researching this issue online; I did find, however, that we are not alone, and others are experiencing this same issue. There was a lot of hype about the milk system on this machine, and we were very excited - obviously- we pre-ordered 2 - one for home and one for my husband's dental practice. I don't know where to go from here. I have 13 super disappointed ladies, and my husband and I are also quite deflated. Are there any solutions on the horizon to make the milk function properly?

Hi Emily, Thank you so much for reaching out - I'd love to chat through these concerns and offer clarity where possible. 1. This sounds like it may be the automatic cleaning process that takes place when your machine is going into Sleep mode. For safety and maintenance, after 30 minutes of non-use, the machine will enter screensaver mode. After 5 hours in screensaver mode, the machine will enter sleep mode. Before going to sleep, the machine will complete a cleaning cycle. If you feel like this isn't the case or would like a second opinion, I'd love to see a video of what's happening. If there's a concern (or even dislike!) over this feature, especially when kiddos are involved, I'd recommend manually putting the machine to sleep once you're done brewing for the day. I'd be happy to provide additional context on why this is the process, too, just let me know! 2. The drip coffee coming out of one spout is really unusual! I'd love to see a video of what's happening when you brew drip. 3. Unfortunately we can't directly set the milk temperature in the TK-02. As for the aeration, kindly note that this indeed an ON or OFF switch for frothing. Froth may be impacted by the type of milk used, however, the ON position does not have variable control and is designed to prevent splashing. This was actually designed this way based on customer feedback from the TK-01! Sounds great, Emiliy! Unfortunately we don't have a single temperature for any drink, especially milk-based ones, as temperature is incredibly variable dependent on environment, glassware, and milk! Your machine will brew all drinks to the set temperature ceiling, which is set to 205 degrees Fahrenheit in the default profiles. Kindly note that this is the brewing temperature, not what the final drink temperature will be. It's expected that there will be a significant difference between brewing temperature and final temperature in your cup.
EMAIL #3 to TK-02 SUPPORT
Hello again, to clarify, my milk temperature question was regarding the steamed milk selection, without any coffee/espresso. What is an expected temperature range (let’s say a range of 10 degrees F) for the milk when it hits a pre-warmed cup (assuming the milk being used is a normal refrigerated milk temperature of between 35 and 38 degrees F )?

Thank you for clarifying, Emiliy! It will still depend on many of these factors, but, for example, the general range for steamed milk with 100mL volume would be about 40-60 degrees celsius. A few degrees on either side would still be considered acceptable. I hope this helps!

Ours can only heat cold milk to somewhere in the 90 degrees fahrenheit. Can you please send me information on returning?

Hi Emiliy, We're unable to accept returns outside of the 30 day/150 brew trial period, but we'd be more than happy to help troubleshoot. Even though we can't directly set the milk temperature in the TK-02, I've got a few tips to help you keep your coffee hot: 1. Steam Dial Setting: To start, turn the milk frothing dial to the left for steamed milk with no foam and use the Steamed Milk button to heat it. Afterward, turn the dial to the right and use this pre-steamed milk to brew your latte or cappuccino. 2. Drink Volume: Keep in mind the volume of your drink. Very small brews will rapidly cool in glassware and the ambient temperature of a room. Increasing the volume of small drinks will increase the temperature performance. Also, you can try preheating cups/mugs or using insulated glassware if you prefer smaller-volume drinks. Remember that it's normal for drinks to lose a bit of heat when using cold milk. Let's start with these steps and see how it goes - please let us know how they work for you!

Hi Lou, I'm not suggesting a return because I tried it and ended up not liking it. The machine does not heat the milk properly, which is clearly a warranty issue.

Hi Emiliy, Unfortunately, this would not be considered a malfunction or outside of the acceptable range of the machine. As noted, the final temperature of the steamed milk will depend on a variety of factors. As this machine was delivered on Jan 6 and we're over a month outside of the return window, and I can see that it has made over 589 drinks, we're unable to accommodate a return here. We provide a 30 day/150 brew trial as this is an ample amount of time to see if it's a good fit for your home and lifestyle. We're happy to continue to help troubleshoot!
**NOTE: Interestingly he references the brews on the machine that gets used the most, the other had less than 75 brews.

We’ve discussed the factors - I’m putting a thermometer in the liquid as it comes out of the machine into a pre-warmed cup and it’s not even meeting your standard of 40 degrees celsius (which, I should add is ridiculous.) No one who knows anything about making specialty coffee drinks would heat/steam milk to 40 degrees Celsius for a latte. At a minimum it would be heated to 57.5 - I know, because I worked at a coffee shop in college. What other factors are there to troubleshoot or discuss?

I completely understand the frustration, Emiliy. Kindly note that a steam wand that coffee shops use will indeed froth milk at a far higher temperature than a frothing system on a superauto, so that's to be expected. When I want a super hot milk-based drink, I usually microwave my milk for fifteen seconds first, especially if it's coming out the fridge cold. Appreciate you checking!
"Appreciate me checking?" Wow. Just wow. I hope this will help someone else not get taken advantage of with this machine. It's all marketing.
