Yesterday my ex (m35-ish) reached out to me (f28) via LinkedIn, roughly 8 years after we broke up.
Turns out he's been back in the area for a bit. He asked me to reconnect over lunch or dinner sometime. I turned him down because he can't be trusted.
The cliff notes of what he's done:

• Intentionally failed a drug test at work, resulting in his termination. Had me pay for everything, including his rent and car payment. Then had me lease a storage unit when his car was repossessed and he was evicted. I was barely making above the $7.25 minimum wage.
  
• Cheated on me and got the other woman pregnant. Successfully hid it until the baby was already 3 months old.
  
• Hacked my email account in an attempt to blackmail me so he wouldn't have to pay back the $1,000 he still owes me.
  
• Tried scamming desperate men on Craigslist out of their money by pretending to be a trans sex worker.
  
• Consistently accused me of cheating. Would ignore me for days if he knew I talked to a guy if it wasn't work related.
  
• Told his affair partner about how I was assaulted while at school. Blamed me for it and used it as a justification for his cheating.
  
• Thought it was fun to get me drunk to have sex with me.
  
• Tried to sabotage my birth control to get me pregnant.
  

I'm sure you're wondering why I put up with all of this. I was in my late teens/early 20s and I didn't know any better. I thought that's what it meant to be a ride or die and I was a hardcore people pleaser.
I found out he was cheating when his AP messaged me on Facebook. Him hiding his affair and his baby was what finally convinced me I needed to run. I haven't spoken to him since and I never thought I would again. Needless to say him messaging me has really thrown me for a loop.
I've been happily married to an amazing man for almost 3 years now and we've agreed it would be a risk to my mental and physical safety to meet up with my ex. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't wondering why the fuck he would reach out to me after all this time and all he's done.

I submitted a rental application yesterday on a house that is available to move into right away.
The agent that showed us the house let us know that the landlord will be back this evening from out of town and we will know if we got it by tomorrow, Wednesday the latest. I just got an email showing that the agent signed the application so the application will be complete.
Is that a good sign that the agent signed it for the landlord to look at or are all applications signed by an agent for review?

It was summer. He needed money to pay for school next year. He decided to get a job. He needed to apply to different places. He first made a resume. He then made a cover letter. He walked around his neighborhood.

My stepdaughter (15yo) is having ongoing issues at home and school. Everything from vaping in the classroom and blowing it in a teachers face to getting in fights and constant defiant behaviors. We also suspect she's shoplifting as she often had items that she can't afford and makes up ridiculous stories about her mates giving her these things.
Recently she ramped up her bad behaviors at home because we won't let her quit high school to attend Ara next term. The only free course available to her is a youth guarantee in Hairdressing/Salon skills and although she's adamant she doesn't want to do hairdressing this is the only free course she can get into and these fill up fast so seems very much a dead end but she only hears that there's a way out of high school and soon and thinks that will give her what she wants.
Her biological father has been in and out of prison since he was a juvenile, much or that from violent offending, and he was recently released after a sentence for multiple assaults but makes no sincere effort to contact the kids. Parenting order ends when she turns 16 in July so not sure what will happen.
Wife is stressed and can't deal and I can't do much more than try to follow through on whatever punishment we give when school contacts us about unexplained absences, vaping, having a mobile phone (not her own) during classes, and ongoing beef she has with other students.
I'm fighting cancer and working two jobs and wife is working full time and maxed out and we're still struggling with rent and bills.
Meanwhilw daughter is constantly bringing up wanting to quit school and move out and that's starting to look like the most viable option but is that even realistic?

I have an interview with them next week and I noticed they never said the name of the company they're hiring for. I was reached out to by a recruiter and the had me join what I thought would be an interview, but it was more of an informational. There were like 150 people on the zoom call and mics were off. At the end, he sent us all a JotForm to send in a personalized application, and from there they were to select 40-50 of us to have a one on one interview. He said they had about 17 open positions.
The guy explained that the position is for a remote Benefits Representative and we would be meeting with clients to help them choose a benefits plan. But, they need us to obtain a license before we start.
I starting thinking about how I didn't remember ever applying to this position. Granted, I've been on a heaaavy job search the past couple of months (like 200+ apps) so of course it would make sense that I don't remember EVERY single one. But still.. I wasn't blindly applying to any and everything I saw either
Anyway, a few days later, I get a text message from the hiring managers assistant (for the actual company, not the staffing agency). She said the hiring manager wanted to interview me and also gave more information about the licensing process. She made it a point that my training with the company wont start until I get licensed
So, I'm really happy that I was among the ones to be selected for an interview. I like to thoroughly research the companies I have interviews with to avoid looking like a dingbat during the interview. But realized I still dont know the company name. And the fact that I didn't have any recollection of applying for it bothered me. So, I sifted though the hundreds of applications I did on Indeed and finally see that I did apply for the position. HOWEVER, the role is called a Member Onboarding Specialist on Indeed. The job description is the EXACT same as everything that was said in the informational, but it's a completely different title. Here's the job listing:

Hello! My application is due today and l've been done for a few days now I just haven't submitted bc I'm waiting for my final LOR from my last of 3 professors. We had a strong relationship during my undergrad and Ive been in communication with her for months and emailed her twice recently reminding her of the due date (after she didn’t reply the first time) and the last time was five days ago to which she replied "May 13th is on my calendar, rest assured I'l have it in by then" and the due date is 11:59 tonight (in 5 hours) and she still hasn't submitted one. Should I submit my application anyway? If she gets it in late, after l've submitted, will it make a difference? Or will the application lock once I submit it? Does anyone know? Thanks!!

The job I'm currently at is losing customers, I was supposed to work yesterday and today but got told they don't need me, and it's even more quite tonight so I'll get told the same thing, also I'm going on a mission(its a Mormon/lds thing where I go and preach to people my religion I want to save around 9-10k) I need to save but I can't if I'm not getting work, but once I have submitted like a form basically conforming I'm going, in a week from that I'll get a email on where I'm going and how long I have to wait till I leave, so it might be two months to 5 months, I'm not far off at all my savings goal but would like a little more, if I can sell my car(should i go back to McDonald's for money, haha), but I have ALOT of free time I feel like I'm wasting it, I can't do alot I'm a little sick this week, but I want to do stuff that will help me out, anyone go ideas for if this has happened to them? Currently an AE at a startup and I have 4 years experience as an AE. I’ve been a solid performer hitting quota the first 3 years and have been at a new company this year so in a ramp year but not absolutely loving it. The BD team, CRM, and tech stack is underdeveloped more than originally let on to put it nicely so while I have a stable job I would like to explore getting into a different sector.
The two companies I’m I’d love a shot to work at are SentinelOne and crowdstrike, and the latter being the preferred. These are attractive because they help secure our world as we see it today and I’d find it easy to stand behind and advocate either of these brands. They just seem to do things right (I’m also invested in CRWD).
Anyone who works or has worked at either of these places I’d greatly appreciate your thoughts on my plan and your experience at those companies.
My plan: - Cisco/Google foundations cert in cybersecurity to prove my base line knowledge - possibly get ITF+ to further prove hunger and knowledge. This would also just flat out help w credibility with IT people if I got in - apply to open roles and/or reach out to sales leaders with short and concise emails/linkedins looking for a shot at an interview
My questions - what is sales leadership like at these places? Feel like you learn a lot and grow? - do these teams have their tech stack, BD function, AE/BDR relationship/workflow in check? - what’s the biggest factor to getting in? Do you need a big Rolodex/network to get business quickly? - what’s the learning curve like? Are these foundational courses a good idea? Do you think they move the needle in terms of showing leadership drive?

So far I have my club, highschool and varsity 3 years, my positions… I heard from someone that said you should talk about how you play, like play style? Ok…so i recently landed a better job and I’m about to quit my warehouse job. But before I quit, I want to go out with a bang. So if I made a very accurate, and in my opinion, hilarious version of some various memes the size of business cards with this rude Karen lady’s face on them would there be any grounds for charges? I’m thinking of laying them around the building like a damn Easter egg hunt. I know she’s the type that would try to sue or some crap over this prank. (She married into the family business and thinks she’s the ultimate shit I guess. I figured a little prank may put her in her place and keep newer hires from getting targeted as badly.)
If you’re wondering why I would want to do this?? - This lady in the office is always targeting me in emails for unfair reasons (Eg. 3 of us in the warehouse could be chatting loudly while working but I would get targeted) - She’s over hiring and wouldn’t hire on any of the more recent hires through a temp agency (who were very good workers) even though they were told they would be hired on after 3 months…it’d been 10+ - When we need to see her about sick time, vacation time, hiring on, anything she was over, she won’t see us or is “on vacation”. - Constantly watching cameras and being petty about our allocated times (we’re ahead of schedule). - Good people have been there years, get paid less than me, and not gotten pay raises in years (she’s also over this).

if i want to use next, do i need to use nextauth as the authentication provider? because I cannot get the credentials provider to work both locally and on vercel. my current situation is using nextauth , credentials provider, with a custom authorize function that takes the credentials and hits my API. the problem is that vercel wants me to define the credentials parameter, and it throws a huge error of all the things my unassigned parameters is missing. can i just use any or unknown and public this mess?

Hey! Not sure if this is a real problem or if I’m overthinking, but one of the schools I’ve withdrawn my acceptance from doesn’t reflect that on the choose your medical school tool on AMCAS. I withdrew in early March and received an email back from the school confirming my withdrawal, so I didn’t really think about it until I got an email from AMCAS post April 15th telling me I hadn’t narrowed my acceptances down to 3. That’s when I checked the CYMS and saw that it didn’t have the same designation as the other school I had withdrawn from. I’ve since emailed and called the school to try and get them to update it with no success. I’ve already committed to enroll at my chosen school but am worried that the lack of “application withdrawn after acceptance” designation on AMCAS could mess something up. Am I being neurotic or should I keep trying to contact the school?

Im suffering from pretty bad burnout and trying to get support. This is an old event that left me running from my special interest.
Most of my life Ive been enamoured with computers, probably 10 years old when I saw my first one at my friend's house. I eventually after many failed attempts at other things, I had the experience and know how to get and IT job. It was perfect, life wasn't but at least work was great until it wasn't.
I worked as an analyst for a major ISP, once they noticed my work flow they started to add on to it. I transitioned to a follow up person, instead of a call taker. We only had two follow up people, one on each shift for a total of two. I handled high level impact events and managed RMAs the best i could. If a person needed help in the office with a problem I was usually the person to go to, my supervisors even asked me for help regularly. Also I was the only person to be able to handle follow up and keep it caught up. Follow up was mainly taking the tickets from issues throughout the entire region from data center down to customer and doing just that, following up. Most tickets were data center to node level though.
Down time in the office for me was rare but eventually I had a routine that aloud for some. We were encouraged to browse the Internet and get on our social media accounts. I did some, not nearly as much as most though. I was really into prepping, I never owned a gun. I never looked at guns at work or at home, I don't know why but I was fascinated with reloading benches. I have this thing with efficiency and I was hyper fixated on the cost of ammo versus reloading ammo. Again I didn't own a gun and wasn't even looking to buy one. However I did look at a ton of reloading benches though.
I had no idea what was going on with me at the time, work life was suffering as was home life. Somehow I had ended up with custody of both of my nieces because my brother hit them. They both called DCFS, not at the same time but about three weeks apart. I didn't want custody of my nieces but I was being very heavily pressured by family. I was living with my brother at the time, they couldn't live with their mom full time at that time. So essentially they would go to moms when I was at work if they weren't at school. I was buying groceries, cooking and cleaning for them and also paying rent to their dad. Their dad, my brother was gambling a lot at the time and was all a round not being a good person. He is diagnosed with bipolar. He attacked me a couple times while I had custody of his kids, I was calling him out for being a bad dad.
Back to work now and I've applied to a new position that would get me into a department that I was super interested in, critical infrastructure. I was given a programming test that I had 30 minutes to complete, it was a cake walk. Well during the interview I was asked how I would handle conflict resolution with a team member if we could just not come to terms on something. The response I gave was "I would need to go to my superior to get it worked out". I was told that my response was to militaristic and that me only scoring second highest on the programing test is the reason I didn't get the job. The other person was given the test and had 24 hours to complete it.
Life sucked at this point, I was feeling really burned by it all and was just getting less tolerant of a lot. My attitude at work changed and I was just not doing great all around. I must say I was really into conspiracy theories at that time too, I didn't believe in many but the one I did probably should have been quiet about. I don't want to talk about it and if you have made it this far you will soon know why. If you want to know after I will say in a DM.
I went into work one day and I guess it was time, they escorted me downstairs to this interrogation room. This old detective type person started laying into me about wanting to shoot the place up. They threw my web history at me, my chat logs. I was in shock and didn't know what to do, he just kept trying to show me reloading benches. They just kept at it for a long time, well it felt like a long time. I eventually just wrote out what happened and he wanted me to change what I wrote at the end. I specifically stated that at no point had I planned to shoot anything up and I was sorry if anyone took my actions or words that way. He wanted change it to say that I did want to shoot up the place. That was the main reason it took so long in that room. I was let go but it wasn't the end of it.
Within 12hrs my place was surrounded by police with automatic rifles. I was taken to a hospital where I think they thought I would be committed? The psychiatrist I saw after many hours was understanding and said I was fine and let me go. She even understood my stance on the conspiracy theory that landed me in that place and told me I wasn't crazy for believing it!
After about a month went by I had the FBI knocking on my door. I had an interview with them and was just so nervous at that point I just wanted it to be over with. I could barely talk I was so scared.
I never fully could trust another after that.
