2024.05.15 00:40 Sketchersfan24 First tinder connection in years “ghosted me” and I’m so bummed

Like I’m a 30 year old man and I’m super upset. I say “ghosted” but like not really.
We were chatting it up for like two weeks, he mostly initiated. Then last week I asked him for coffee or a drink and he says he can’t, no biggie. We chat a little the next week (last week) and I ask him if he has any time Saturday for a coffee he just says his weekend is up in the air and just ask him to let me know if he ends up wanting to, he says sounds like a plan. Never messages me and he updated his profile and bio sometime since, dgaf bout me.
I thought about trying again but decided to just unmatch. I’m so bummed. We had a good little connection there which never happens to me. Same story, different year. I crave love and affection from another man and it will never happen 🥺 (don’t come at me with “you shouldn’t have a relationship since you crave one that means you love yourself bs blah blah. This isn’t as deep as you think.)
Just drunk venting, will probs delete soon.

2024.05.15 00:38 West-Advertising7128 Group Chat

I put this under AITA because i dont really know what to put it under. So i had three best friends, lets call them Regina (my aunt), Gretchen (ex best friend), and Karen(childhood ex bestie). They all had known each other and were decent with one another which was great, we started to hang out together and talk on the phone together, finally felt like i had a girl friend group. December rolls around and me and my fiance wanted to go to see Bert Kriesher, it was already planned out, tickets bought, etc. I was so excited to go i told everybody about it in the beginning of November. Well about two weeks after I told everybody about it i find out the Regina is having “Friendsgiving” and has invited all of the girls. It happens to be on the same night we are going to see Bert, that is completely fine with me, i told them that we can’t make it and we can do something before Christmas (early Christmas) if they would like. All said yes and everything was good, we did early Christmas with Regina and Gretchen lived two hours away so it was hard to connect. Fast forward to early Christmas with Karen a week later and she was acting kinda weird during the entire time, was responding with short responses, wasnt really all the chatty and i just thought she was having a tough day. Asked her what was wrong she said nothing. Well two days later i get a message from Karens Fiancé saying that the people who i think are my friends arent my friends, curious i asked what he meant and he responded with i have screenshots and sends me almost a whole album of screenshots of all three of them talking shit in a group chat named Shit talk and then changed it to Grinch Talk, about me and my relationship, my recovery, how i parent, how i look, my health and more, but what really pissed me off the most is they decided to add my son(2yo) into it, so after receiving the screenshots i decided to make a group chat on snapchat and called it why are you talking shit, no-one responded to the group chat and messaged me individually. Karen called me crying saying the did it because they were concerned about me. Regina texted me saying i was making all of my health issues up and i just wanted attention when i in fact have medical records to prove otherwise (i have POTS, Seizures, stomach issues, and more). And Gretchen blamed it on karen and Regina saying she just wanted best for me. I blocked all of them on snap which Karen took personal and blocked me on everything after getting mad at me for blocking her on snap because i needed a break from seeing them all over my social media. Afterwards i cut Regina and Gretchen off and have completely cut them out of mine and my childs life. Some part of my feel guilty for my son because he was besties with Karens son, but i choose our peace over that drama anyday. Rant over✌🏼

2024.05.15 00:37 ArgumentSerious9658 Random Message from Reddit Cares

Just received a message from RedditCareResources that someone was concerned for me. If I had posted something indicating self-harm or even depression, I might understand & also appreciate it.
But I didn’t and am fine. I don’t even know from which forum this concern might have generated.
When I tried to reply to the message indicating as much, the only reporting options are spam or harassment & the like. And most of those choices require me to identify the account and/or post.
Since I have no idea what prompted anyone to report concern about me in the first place, I cannot provide such details.
So if the concerned Redditor originated here, I’m fine.
Thanks

2024.05.15 00:34 7-Years-Late 7/8 Years Later??

Hello everyone, I apologize for the format, as I am currently on mobile.
I am a 20-year-old male residing in Utah, and I will be turning 21 in October. I recently received a call from a detective requesting an interview for tomorrow. He informed me that the purpose of the interview is to discuss an incident that occurred when I was approximately 13 or 14 years old, involving a "friend" of mine. The detective mentioned that this matter has recently come to light.
I asked whether I was being considered as a witness or if I was the subject of a criminal case. He told me that it is a criminal case against me, and I am considered the primary suspect. I informed the detective that I would need to consult with my lawyer before making any decisions.
I have no recollection of any such incident or the friend in question. I cannot recall any specific events or situations that transpired when I was 13 or 14 years old, or even anything that involved the police.
After reviewing the statutes of limitations in Utah, I discovered that the time limit for prosecuting felonies and misdemeanors is typically between two and four years, excluding certain offenses such as homicide and sexual abuse. All which I'm definitely clear of. Given that the alleged incident occurred almost eight years ago, I am confused as to how the detective can pursue this matter, especially since I was a minor.
Nevertheless, I intend to contact a lawyer regardless. Is there anything else I should or need to do in this situation? I would greatly appreciate any guidance or advice.

2024.05.15 00:33 ThrowAway943533 DDC's representative was not completely accurate when describing Wisconsin's room tax law at the April 9, 2024 Ephraim village board meeting

The minutes, included in a draft version within the May 14, 7:00 P.M. board packet, https://ephraim.wi.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/24-5-14-Board-Packet.pdf#page=11, describe the DDC employee as stating:
DDC still has to by state law receive 70% of the room tax collection.
The title reflects my assumption that the draft minutes correctly report what was said on April 9. If this was misreported in the minutes, I will delete the post right away.
There is nothing in the state statutes which requires that a single tourism entity receive the 70%. The 70% portion of the room tax money may be distributed to multiple tourism entities, if that is what the Door County Tourism Zone desires. It happens that there is only one tourism entity presently receiving the money, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/66/vi/0615/1/f states that tourism entities must have been created by January 1, 2015. The Ephraim Business Council was first registered with the state in 1963: https://apps.dfi.wi.gov/apps/corpsearch/Details.aspx?entityID=6E03737&hash=1855910145&searchFunctionID=00c8372f-e872-4732-87cc-d096cf086605
The 1963 founding means it is old enough. As a tourism entity, it would be required to spend 51% of its revenues on tourism promotion and tourism development, and provide destination marketing staff and services for the tourism industry in a municipality.
If the Ephraim Business Council received enough room tax money from the Tourism Zone, and passed it to the village of Ephraim for tangible municipal development, that would qualify for the 51%. Eligible tangible municipal development expenses count as a form of “tourism promotion and tourism development”, according to https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/66/vi/0615/1/fm
The Ephraim Business Council maintains the Ephraim Visitor Information Center, and this 990 form indicates that it has one full time, salaried employee: https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/391539213/202311189349200636/full
That means it meets the “destination marketing staff and services” requirement.
The Ephraim Business Council could create a committee made up of entirely of unpaid Ephraim village board members. The council could receive a portion of the 70% directly from the Tourism Zone, and allocate it to the village for eligible tangible municipal development purposes according to the decisions of the committee.
That things could be set up this way is contradicted by what the DDC representative said at the meeting, according to the draft minutes. State law has restrictions about how to spend the 70% portion of room tax money, but her comment over-stated the extent of the restrictions. This is what https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/66/vi/0615/1m/b/2 states:
the commission shall contract with another organization in the zone to perform the functions of the tourism entity.
This does not expressly prohibit a commission from contracting with two or more organizations, each receiving a part of the 70%.
The quoted comment from the DDC representative came as part of a discussion on whether room tax dollars from the Community Investment Fund could be spent on fireworks. Elsewhere, https://doorcountytourismzone.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Open-Session-Packet-April-2024.pdf#page=32, it is revealed that the village of Ephraim has accumulated a legal bill of $22,548 over their complaint regarding the Community Investment Fund. In responding to the complaint, the Door County Tourism Zone has spent $4,903. Ephraim would like the Tourism Zone to pay the $22,548 so they don’t have to, but the Tourism Zone won’t pay it.
This is a waste of tax money. A democratic alternative to wasting more tax money on legal fees would be for a special joint meeting to be held for all board and council members, from all Door County municipalities. Together, they could write and vote on a resolution expressing their intentions to the Door County Tourism Zone. The resolution could be more of a general nature if there isn’t much agreement, or it could spell things out more precisely if that is possible.
Topics they could consider:
When writing the resolution, the votes could be taken by municipality, the representation from each municipality having one vote. A majority of all the municipalities could pass a measure. If a small number of the municipalities balked at participating, a meeting with a majority of the municipalities could be held anyway. When it is finished, each municipality could decide to individually approve or reject the jointly-written resolution. This could be done at the joint meeting, for municipalities which have a quorum present. For those lacking a quorum, approval could wait until the next regular meeting.
A resolution written in this manner would not be legally binding on the Tourism Zone, but the Tourism Zone board members would be practically compelled to follow it. If certain board members don't comply, they could be removed and replaced, since the members serve at the pleasure of the principal elected official in their member municipalities. Any members which are removed may be replaced by someone else chosen by the principal elected official, and confirmed by a majority vote of the board or council members who were present at the time of the vote: https://doorcountytourismzone.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Door-County-Tourism-Zone-Commission-By-Laws.pdf#page=2
Wisconsin's State Constitution restricts the state government itself from being a party in carrying on works of internal improvements: https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/2011/related/wiscon/_18/_12
There are exceptions to this and a history of court cases. However, the clause only applies to the state. Municipalities are allowed to build internal improvements: https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/misc/lrb/reading_the_constitution/reading_the_constitution_3_1.pdf#page=7
This implies that any system of allocating tangible municipal development dollars must stem from municipal authority instead of the state’s own authority. Because the scope of tourism entities includes tangible municipal development, and tangible tangible municipal development includes the works of internal improvements, it would be unconstitutional for them to claim powers derived directly from the state.
The powers of the Tourism Zone to tax and distribute funds, and of Destination Door County and the Community Investment Fund to spend the funds distributed to them, are derived from municipal authority. Along with the method for appointing and removing Tourism Zone board members, the authority structure suggests that a resolution authored by a joint meeting of the municipalities would be regarded as compelling by the Tourism Zone.
The state does not forbid municipalities from holding joint meetings. This is a recent example of a joint meeting held by two town boards: https://townofoaklandwi.com/2024/04/28/joint-meeting-town-of-meenon-town-of-oakland-on-05-01-2024-615pm-new-town-hall/
This notice describes the meeting being held at a new town hall. An earlier article describes the towns considering the purchase of a property together to serve as a town hall for both towns: https://www.burnettcountysentinel.com/news/shared-town-halls-possible/article_9dcfb588-a30d-11ed-b60f-0fb4ae6c11d9.html
If two towns in Burnett County can hold a legally valid joint meeting, nineteen Door County municipalities are capable of doing the same.
If nothing is done and the status quo continues, will legal bills continue to increase? Besides the current dispute, a second legal issue has the potential to arise, resulting in more litigation. This would be if the Community Investment Fund were to grow too large. One person in the draft Ephraim minutes describes the fund as already being at a million and a half dollars. Exactly how much of a surplus there would need to be for courts to intervene, I don't know. However, there are several annotations describing how tax money cannot be accumulated and kept as a surplus having no public purpose: https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/60/vi/40/5
Although this refers to towns, the authority to spend tax room money is likewise delegated, so it also applies to the Tourism Zone, Destination Door County, and the Community Investment Fund. Were they to accumulate a surplus with no public purpose, courts could intervene.

2024.05.15 00:32 Annual_Syrup4756 If you are a member of r/Slothana, please read this.

Hi all,
I'm assuming if you are reading this, you are from Slothana and that's how you stumbled upon my profile.
A little bit about me, $Sloth is the first ever meme coin I've invested in. I've always been extremely skeptical of the space but something about this project piqued my interest. My skepticism about meme coins would not allow me to participate in the pre-sale as I was too nervous about how the legitimacy of the airdrop. As you know, the air drop was a success and I invested shortly after I saw confirmation that coins had been delivered to others.
This has been the craziest ride I've ever been on and am loving not only my investment, but also the Slothana devs (as they've delivered on their promises) and the burgeoning Slothana community.
Everything with the coin and Dev team have been great and even if it ended today, I would not have a single regret about my participation in this project.
There is something that needs to be addressed though.
And that is the mod team that created and currently operates the Slothana subreddit.
Typically when I join a sub, I go to their "About" page to briefly skim the rules and see if their are any oddities I should be aware of. I normally will click on a few of the mod profiles to see what kind of community I believe they will be fostering.
That's when I first encountered u/Runos_Projects.
I found it interesting [that they were also a mod of a different crypto](https://imgur.com/a/qfEQikP) community: PetVoL
But hey, whatever. Maybe they just really enjoy moderation of Reddit and meme coins.
I proceeded to "Join" the sub, and [then promptly received this message](https://imgur.com/dBf6hlP).
Odd that the title, says welcome to Slothana but the website link is to PetVoL...
Maybe it's the same dev team!
When I visited the [PetVol website](https://imgur.com/a/QbWk6RM) it seemed to follow a similar format to Slothana's. Clearly animal-centric but also the pricing structure was identical. 1 SOL = 10,000 coins.
But hey, whatever. I'm still thinking that maybe it's the same dev team? What do I know, this is my first experience with meme coins.
I brushed those oddities off and to be quite honest, kinda forgot about them because Slothana was rocketing at this point.
Four days ago, I was commenting a lot on Slothana and then received a message from u/Runos_Projects
[The message was them offering to sell me complete control of the subreddit for 15 SOL](https://imgur.com/a/akVXn55)
Like I said, I am extremely new to the meme coin space but I've used Reddit for almost a decade and this came across as a major red flag.
I clearly [am not the only one who was offered the opportunity to purchase the sub](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sAqn37x0Sc) as this video began to circulate a few hours after I received my message from Runos. This is not my YouTube video and I will remove it from this post if the owner requests.
But hey, maybe Runos is just a rogue actor? Trying to fund his project behind the other's mods backs. [Let's check out the rest of the mod team](https://imgur.com/s7Nr9jR) they certainly wouldn't support this type of behavior!
Oh, [metaserve is also promoting PetVoL on his profile](https://imgur.com/AtBQ3uE)....
Seems odd that the only two mods of Slothana are also clearly connected to the PetVoL project.
At this point, I wasn't sure what to think. I LOVE the Slothana project but seems just seems off about all of this. However, I still did not have confirmation that the two projects weren't linked.
[I decided to DM the PetVoL team on Twitter](https://imgur.com/a/G07yxeO) and see if the two projects are connected....
As you can see, they clearly are not.
It's becoming increasingly more obvious that the PetVoL have ulterior motives when it comes to the moderation of Slothana.
Since my interaction with the PetVoL team on Twitter, I have seen COUNTLESS accounts banned from Slothana just for mentioning the possible sale of the subreddit, or for mentioning the video that I posted above.
So many accounts have been banned, there is an entirely separate subreddit now for the Slothana refugees that can no longer post here.
Speaking of bans, as you may have noticed, u/Runos_Projects is suspended from Reddit.
[I'm sure that it's purely coincidental that they were banned at the same exact time that PetVoL was permanently removed from Reddit.](https://imgur.com/a/PfQvoJK)
Not to fear! metaserve was able to quickly find a replacement for his fallen mod!
[Welcome to the team Kooky-Dust8367!!!](https://imgur.com/a/qQL61FZ) I'm sure that the Slothana community is in great hands now!
Oh, their account is 3 weeks old. And has negative karma. And their only comments are them offering money to Runos to become a mod of the sub.
If you've made it this far, you are basically caught up.
I'm posting this not to FUD or harass anyone, but because I truly want the best for the Slothana community. And I'm sure you do too considering you've read this much of my ramblings.
I don't have a plan of action at this point. I'm sure I will be banned form Slothana shortly after posting this.
All that I ask is that you make your own conclusions about this situation. And as always, DYOR.

2024.05.15 00:32 cuckmeister66 My body's response to anxiety - any tips?

Hi everybody,
I'm a 28 year old guy with a relatively good corporate job, a decent social life, and good health and hobbies. I'm likable and don't have a particularly stressful life.
That said, I've struggled with anxiety since I can remember. I've always been the anxious type, thinking bad things will happen and fantasizing about potential bad outcomes.
I've come along way with the mental part of anxiety - I know the tricks and have been to therapy on and off. Re-frames, journaling, scheduling worrying time, actually playing out the bad scenarios to realize how unlikely they are. All these provide marginal relief, and I appreciate them for what they are.
However, what I'm really struggling with is my body's response to anxiety - particularly acute anxiety. I do take beta blockers which help keep my heart rate low, but even with them, my blood pressure shoots up, I feel it in my heart, and I get a bit sweaty, tense, and tunnel-visioned.
It's been happening all my life, but I'm starting to get more frustrated than ever. I know what it traces back to - yearning for others' approval, fear of being judged, being in trouble, and/or looking dumb or inept. These things make me feel scared and as though I'll be exposed. However, I've had success in life in spite of my anxiety response - it's almost as if because I've succeeded in spite of my anxiety, my body has entrained the anxiety response as a positive. It's not a positive for me, though - it's excessive and unhealthy.
I am trying to find a way to re-wire my body to not have such a strong response when confronted with things that make me anxious. Breathwork helps me calm down after the resopnse, but it doesn't blunt the response in the first place.
Maybe I need EMDR or to try holotropic breathing, or perhaps something else.
Does anyone have any tips or any similar experience? Thanks so much.
EDIT: some specific triggers that give me an immediate feeling of tension and adrenaline/pounding heart, sometimes with one sided head pain(even though it's slowed from the beta blockers):

2024.05.15 00:32 businessnewstv How to Handle Customer Complaints in Your Cleaning Business in 2024

Understanding the importance of handling customer complaints

Understanding the importance of handling customer complaints is crucial for the success of any business. In the cleaning industry, where customer satisfaction is paramount, it becomes even more essential. Customer complaints provide valuable feedback and insights into areas that need improvement. By addressing and resolving complaints promptly and effectively, cleaning businesses can demonstrate their commitment to customer service and build trust and loyalty. This, in turn, can lead to positive word-of-mouth referrals and repeat business. Therefore, it is imperative for cleaning businesses to prioritize the handling of customer complaints as a key aspect of their operations.

The impact of customer complaints on your cleaning business

Customer complaints can have a significant impact on the success and reputation of your cleaning business. It is crucial to understand the negative consequences that can arise from unresolved complaints. Firstly, customer complaints can damage your business's image and reputation. In today's digital age, dissatisfied customers can easily share their negative experiences on various online platforms, which can deter potential clients from choosing your services. Secondly, customer complaints can result in a loss of business. When customers are unhappy with the quality of your cleaning services, they are likely to terminate their contract and seek alternative options. This can lead to a decrease in revenue and a decline in customer loyalty. Lastly, customer complaints can hinder business growth and innovation. By addressing and resolving complaints effectively, you can identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes to enhance customer satisfaction. This proactive approach can drive innovation and help your cleaning business stay ahead of the competition.

Key principles for effectively handling customer complaints

When it comes to effectively handling customer complaints, there are key principles that every cleaning business should follow. One important principle is dealing with shame. It is crucial for businesses to acknowledge any mistakes or shortcomings and take responsibility for them. Instead of avoiding or ignoring customer complaints, businesses should address them head-on and seek to find a resolution. By demonstrating a willingness to learn from mistakes and improve, businesses can build trust and credibility with their customers. Dealing with shame also involves being empathetic towards the customer's feelings and concerns. By showing understanding and compassion, businesses can create a safe and supportive environment for customers to express their complaints. Overall, dealing with shame is a fundamental principle in effectively handling customer complaints and should be a priority for every cleaning business.

Creating a Complaint Management System

Establishing a clear process for receiving and documenting complaints

To effectively handle customer complaints in your cleaning business, it is essential to establish a clear process for receiving and documenting these grievances. This process should be formal and systematic, ensuring that all complaints are addressed promptly and thoroughly. By implementing a structured approach, you can demonstrate your commitment to customer satisfaction and improve the overall quality of your services. To begin, designate a dedicated point of contact who will be responsible for receiving and managing customer complaints. This individual should possess excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations. Additionally, develop a standardized form or system for documenting complaints, including details such as the customer's name, contact information, nature of the complaint, and any actions taken to resolve the issue. This documentation will not only help you track and analyze patterns in customer feedback but also serve as a reference for future reference. Finally, establish clear timelines for addressing and resolving complaints, ensuring that each complaint is acknowledged and investigated promptly. By following these steps, you can establish a clear process for handling customer complaints and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction in your cleaning business.

Training your staff on complaint handling procedures

Training your staff on complaint handling procedures is crucial for the success of your cleaning business. By providing comprehensive training, you can ensure that your employees are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively address customer complaints. One important aspect of complaint handling is understanding how to communicate with customers, especially through email marketing. Email marketing allows you to reach out to customers directly and address their concerns in a timely manner. It is important to train your staff on the best practices of email marketing, including crafting professional and empathetic responses, personalizing the communication, and providing clear instructions on how to resolve the issue. By incorporating email marketing into your complaint handling procedures, you can enhance customer satisfaction and maintain a positive reputation for your cleaning business.

Implementing a feedback mechanism for customers

Implementing a feedback mechanism for customers is crucial in the cleaning business industry. By providing a platform for customers to express their concerns and suggestions, cleaning businesses can gain valuable insights into their performance and identify areas for improvement. One effective way to implement a feedback mechanism is through the use of online surveys or feedback forms. These tools allow customers to easily provide feedback on their experience with the cleaning service, enabling businesses to address any issues promptly. Additionally, offering incentives such as discounts or rewards for completing the feedback process can encourage more customers to participate. By actively seeking and listening to customer feedback, cleaning businesses can enhance their services, build customer loyalty, and stay ahead of the competition.

Active Listening and Empathy

The role of active listening in resolving customer complaints

Active listening plays a crucial role in resolving customer complaints in the cleaning business. By actively listening to customers, cleaning business owners and employees can gain a deeper understanding of their concerns and frustrations. This allows them to address the issues more effectively and provide appropriate solutions. Active listening involves giving full attention to the customer, maintaining eye contact, and avoiding interruptions. It also includes paraphrasing and summarizing the customer's concerns to ensure accurate understanding. By practicing active listening, cleaning businesses can enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty, ultimately leading to the success and growth of the business.

Demonstrating empathy to understand customer concerns

Demonstrating empathy is a crucial skill when it comes to understanding and addressing customer concerns in the cleaning business. By putting ourselves in the shoes of the customer, we can gain a deeper understanding of their perspective and the impact that their concerns may have on their overall satisfaction. This involves actively listening to their complaints, acknowledging their emotions, and validating their experiences. By showing empathy, we can create a supportive and understanding environment that fosters trust and helps to resolve issues effectively. It is important to remember that demonstrating empathy is not just about saying the right things, but also about taking appropriate actions to address the customer's concerns and provide them with a satisfactory resolution. By doing so, we can not only retain our customers but also enhance our reputation as a reliable and customer-centric cleaning business.

Using effective communication techniques to show empathy

Using effective communication techniques to show empathy is crucial when handling customer complaints in your cleaning business. By actively listening to the customer's concerns and validating their feelings, you can demonstrate that you understand their perspective. It is important to use appropriate language and tone to convey empathy and assure the customer that their complaint is being taken seriously. Additionally, offering solutions and taking prompt action to address the issue can further show your commitment to resolving the problem and satisfying the customer's needs.

Resolving Complaints in a Timely Manner

Setting realistic response timeframes for complaint resolution

Setting realistic response timeframes for complaint resolution is crucial for the success and profitability of home security companies. By ensuring that customer complaints are addressed in a timely manner, companies can maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty. It is important to establish clear expectations with customers regarding the timeframe for complaint resolution, taking into account factors such as the complexity of the issue and available resources. By setting realistic response timeframes, home security companies can demonstrate their commitment to excellent customer service and enhance their reputation in the industry.

Prioritizing urgent complaints to prevent escalation

To effectively handle customer complaints in your cleaning business, it is crucial to prioritize urgent complaints to prevent escalation. By promptly addressing and resolving these issues, you can demonstrate your commitment to customer satisfaction and maintain a positive reputation. 2024.05.15 00:31 LegitimateSearch3365 Probably time for me to leave

So I've posted about my pwBPD (more like a very close friend/best friend) on this sub-reddit once and it helped me to realize things simply just reading what I wrote back to myself since I've been ridiculously fogged up attempting to give her a smidge of benefit but it's hard when she keeps throwing rocks at the one person who stuck through things this long (7 almost 8 years)
I absolutely hate the inconsistent conversation and weird ghosting from anybody (this is what I've experienced from her all day today..) especially her being my closest friend (albeit sucks to be in this position since she knows what she knows about my past including trauma and abuse) and for once it feels like this is all about to come crashing down, on my side.
I gave her a few reasons as to why I'd be discarding her permanently and she only had a few words to say amongst a few voice messages which I disregarded. She knows that I know she's lying about things and for whatever reason tries to go to the GREATEST lengths to embarrass me by abusing my emotions.
Her excuse for being distant the last 2 days has been "overwhelming anxiety" but her anxiety usually stems from fearing I might leave, since I'm her FP as-well, also knowing what I know about her life.. Have endured many many cycles too.
I've made it clear many times I wouldn't be leaving but she makes these things extremely difficult. Yes I spammed her with texts and a few slightly stupid things to get her attention but she's not budging - assuming she split on me for other reasons in her life that she won't tell me about.
I'd love to stay, really and truly would, but I'm conflicted by feeling like a wasted use of time. Some insight would greatly help me to not bug out. Thank you.

2024.05.15 00:30 Temporary-Driver-772 Devil's Bargain Counter

Reflecting on 2021, truly marked the zenith of my young career. The pandemic was coming to an end, I was fresh from the hallowed halls of a prestigious but unheralded college, thrust into the corporate labyrinth where, as a mere sidekick to the big shots, I contributed to a deal of record-breaking magnitude. My modest corporate minion life was exaggerated into legend by my professors during an alumni reunion, leading to a rather embarrassing episode where I was paraded around as the poster child of their education career’s success. My parents, not ones to shy away from a bit of pomp, lauded my achievements to anyone within earshot.
But as 2022 unfurled its chaos with the epidemic, my professional life spiralled downwards as swiftly as it had risen. I was laid off, and replaced by a nepotistic hire—my boss's new mistress's nephew. During my dismal final days, my colleagues, once comrades became corporate sharks, whispers of them scheming to claim my last efforts as their own filled the empty office spaces.
Compelled by financial duress to abandon my central city dwelling, I relocated to the outskirts with two college mates, Jaz and Kath, who had similarly found themselves victims of the economic downturn. We settled into apartment 606, a unit with dubious charm, suspiciously affordable on the 13th floor of a dreary building, its corridor haunted by a flickering sensor light that was only designed to function on rare occasions. Yet, the apartment itself was surprisingly very well furnished, almost like something that jumped out from a design mag, out beating sample rooms in Ikea, boasting a spacious balcony, a living room ready for an impromptu soirée, a dining table that’s good enough to hold a banquet(became our co-working space) and a kitchen isle that became our sanctuary and curse.
When we first settled into our new abode, we discovered a trove of fine kitchen utensils, perfect for whipping up sophisticated cuisine and crafting cocktails worthy of a swanky soirée. Tucked away in the fridge, among the remnants of the previous tenants' life, was a quaint note: “The three of us really enjoyed our stay here, especially our meals and nights spent by the kitchen island. We hope you find as much joy in it as we did. Use it well.” With a casual flick of my wrist, I dismissed the note into the garbage can, oblivious to the depth of its seemingly innocuous message. Little did I know, that piece of paper was more a passing of the torch than a simple goodbye.
Our initial days in apartment 606 brimmed with camaraderie and impromptu celebrations: movie nights sprawled on the living room sofas, barbeque dinners under the stars on our balcony, and co-working sessions at the dining table, peppered with resume tweaks and contemplative conversations over cocktails. We even scored a second-hand karaoke machine, allowing me to channel my inner diva—a throwback to my musical theatre days in college and my stint as the voice of corporate presentations and negotiations at my previous job, where I was known for my resonant yet finely tuned voice.
Yet, as the months wore on and the job market remained unyielding, our early merriment slowly surrendered to a creeping anxiety. The kitchen island, once the heart of our home where laughter and shared meals flowed freely, gradually morphed into the epicenter of our collective unease, bearing silent witness to the quiet desperation settling over us.
One evening, in the suspiciously affordable yet stylish apartment, I sank into the sofa, my spirits dampened by my favorite team's disheartening loss. The mood was grim, mirroring my fears of my beloved player's potential retirement at season's end. Later, as we congregated around the kitchen island for dinner, I transformed into an impromptu sports commentator, passionately preaching about the game’s disappointing details that led to failure and my favorite player’s fine qualities. Meanwhile, Jaz updated us on a friend's melodramatic breakup, with guesses that something ugly must have happened behind the scenes. Kath, ever the culinary enthusiast, not only served up her delicious pasta but also dished out the latest celebrity gossip, each tidbit as spicy as her sauce.
The next day, during a late breakfast at the same kitchen island—our unwitting oracle—we were hit by a triple whammy of reality checks. The news of my favorite player's retirement broke, echoing my gloomy predictions from the night before. Jaz chimed in with an update that our friend had uncovered a cheating scandal worthy of its own reality TV special. And Kath, never one to be left out of the drama: her favorite celebrity was now the star of a scandal.
By the third morning, as we sipped our coffee, the newspaper slapped me with another bizarre twist. I was going through the devastating economics and politics sections, then I saw the sports section——featured an irate coach, hell-bent on convincing my favorite player to dismiss retirement plans and keep his jersey on a little longer. Meanwhile, Jaz had good news for a change: it turned out our friend's love story might have a second act after all, as misunderstandings were being cleared up. Amidst these revelations, Kath, who had been grumbling about the nearby supermarket’s inability to stock anything remotely gourmet, and hadn’t had a taste of her favorite Blue Mountain coffee since the beginning of that year, triumphantly found a can of Blue Mountain coffee, and it was on sale and therefore affordable—proof that miracles happen, and sometimes they even go on discount.
As I sat there, absorbing the serendipity of our discussions manifesting into real-world events, I couldn't help but marvel at the mysterious knack of our kitchen island. Was it merely a coincidence, or had this stylish piece of decor become the unlikely conductor of our lives symphony? One thing was certain: life in apartment 606 was never dull, and our kitchen island seemed to be more than just a place to eat—it was a place where, apparently, you could stir the pot of fate.
I decided to conduct a whimsical experiment with our now seemingly magical kitchen island. Clearing my throat theatrically, I declared, "I should be interviewed for a director position." To my sheer astonishment, the next day a headhunter rang me up, claiming I was the ideal candidate for a directorial role at a prestigious corporation in my field. Despite the other candidates possessing decades more experience which defeated me with no effort, and my own lingering self-doubt from months of unemployment, I sailed to the final interview round with the company's executives.
Upon returning to our apartment, I found Kath flaunting a chic dress from a designer brand brand she’d snagged on clearance—a little luxury courtesy of our wish-granting island. Inspired, I approached the island and cheekily requested, "Get us jobs. Something fun." Lo and behold, the following day was spent lounging and binge-watching Netflix, only to be interrupted by a call from a former bigwig at my old job. He was venturing into a more illustrious company and wanted me onboard. The informal chat that followed was a breeze, and just like that, I was back in the game with a fancier title and a fatter paycheck.
The subsequent week was a flurry of celebrations. Jaz secured a senior-level position, and Kath landed her dream job at an influencer management agency. Feeling triumphant, we decided to indulge in a night of fine dining—our first in months. That Friday evening when I went from office to restaurant, on a whim, stopped at a convenience store to grab snacks and cigarettes for our post-dinner revelry. Outside, I encountered a homeless person. After offering him a sandwich (which he traded for a cigarette instead), he took a drag, peered into my eyes, and ominously muttered, “Look, young lady, this isn’t my business, but be wary of what you wish for; everything comes with a price. Good luck and god bless you.”
His words barely registered until later that evening when a mishap occurred that seemed to underline his warning. As we enjoyed syphon coffee post-dinner, a barista accidentally tripped over Kath’s flowing dress. The resulting spill left her with first-degree burns, abruptly ending our night as we rushed to the emergency room. Though it was "just" a first-degree burn, the pain was significant enough to require several days off for Kath’s recovery. Amid the drama, I couldn't help but wonder about the cryptic caution from the man outside the store—had our fortunate streak come with a hidden cost?
We chalked up the coffee calamity to bad luck. The next month flowed smoothly: Kath's fingers healed, she returned to work, and I quickly found my groove at the new job. With all of us gainfully employed, our communal meals at the kitchen island became rare. My mornings were a whirlwind of grabbing breakfast and coffee on the go, followed by an hour's commute to a job that had me scarfing down instant noodles by nightfall, just in time for a quick shower.
As the busy season kicked in, my workload ballooned—not just from the seasonal uptick, but because I was hell-bent on proving my mettle. I quickly outshone most of my peers, and my employer, recognizing a budding overachiever, piled on major tasks, which I eagerly accepted. What started as the occasional hour of overtime soon devoured my weekends. Unpaid overtime, as the fine print in my contract gleefully noted, became my new norm. Driven by a mix of ambition and expectation, I had become the go-to young hotshot, the erstwhile record-breaker now expected to continually outdo myself.
Mentally, I was too swamped to entertain thoughts of anything beyond work, which, in a twisted way, felt like a break. Physically, however, the strain began to show. A bout of flu caught on a business trip escalated into a fever. Sick as I was, deadlines waited for no one, and I soldiered on medicated and miserable. By the time I made it home, my voice had abandoned me. Unable to utter a word the next morning, I resorted to emailing my manager about my sorry state.
That week, robbed of my voice, I mused that it was perhaps a well-deserved hiatus for my overworked vocal cords—a silent retreat if you will. But when my voice did return, it was as a raspy whisper, a shadow of its former crisp and melodious timbre. My doctor offered a grim prognosis: slight improvement might come, but the golden tones were gone for good—scarred by the relentless grind. Ah, the price of ambition—a scratchy throat as a permanent reminder of my corporate conquests.
It seemed I had unwittingly exchanged the clarity of my voice for the tumult of career success. In the midst of our domestic enchantment with the possibly mystical kitchen island, Kath unearthed the contact of a reputed psychic, hailed as the finest in the land. However, the consultation fee was nothing short of princely, and with Jaz vehemently dismissing anything that couldn't be explained by cold, hard science, she promptly opted out of splitting the bill. Kath and I, unwilling to drain our wallets on what could be mere phantasmagoria, reluctantly let the opportunity pass.
Meanwhile, I couldn’t help but notice a curious change in Jaz’s routine. She had ceased dining at the kitchen island, avoiding it as if it were cursed—or perhaps, in her view, simply out of style. The Saturday morning brought a particularly harsh twist: a murder of crows took to spiralling above our balcony, their cries as sharp as the plot of a Poe novel. We found ourselves drawn to the infamous kitchen island, lined up like the cast of a macabre play, silently praying for the birds to disperse. Kath, ever trying to restore some semblance of normalcy, offered up cups of Blue Mountain coffee. She absentmindedly inquired if I wanted cream or sugar in mine—a blunder that made me realize just how long it had been since our last coffee klatch at this very spot. My inner monologue couldn't resist a dark wish for the crows to scatter, perhaps too dark, for they began to dive bomb our balcony in a feathery kamikaze. The spectacle was enough to knock Jaz off her feet—literally—as her mug met its end on the floor. Kath, meanwhile, made a hasty retreat to worship the porcelain god, and I sat frozen, my brain offline, pondering the twisted power of our kitchen island's apparent wish-granting.
After the unnerving spectacle of crows turning our balcony into a scene straight out of a Hitchcock film, our first rational step—post-collective fainting, of course—was to summon cleaners to manage the feathery carnage. Then, still rattled but increasingly curious, we visited a psychic, who, contrary to the crystal-ball-gazer image, operated out of a posh boutique in a high-end mall and dressed more like she was headed to a fashion show than a séance. We laid bare our saga of the seemingly cursed kitchen island, complete with photographic evidence of where domestic bliss meets eerie phenomena.
The psychic introduced a term that chilled the air around us: “limbo,” the threshold between our world and the otherworldly, and she dubbed our kitchen island the "Devil’s Bargain Counter." According to her, our wishes came with a heavy and unpredictable price, because we have accidentally started trades with beings from the netherworld. Her advice was disarmingly simple: cease all trades on the island. To address the repercussions of past wishes, she advised us the first line of defence, which was an eclectic mix of offerings laid out on our cursed countertop: raw meat(rooster works the best), a cocktail of spices(coca and cinnamon preferably), liberal splashes of spirits(whiskey and rum ideally), and an eerie bouquet of black flowers(luckily I found some black roses at a flower shop of the mall). In a grander gesture of appeasement, Kath relinquished her shiny new diamond bracelet, Jaz her absurdly expensive headphones, and I parted with cash—— a hefty slice of my bonus in hopes of placating whatever capricious spirits we'd angered.
Our return to normalcy was brief but sweet, prompting us to plan a getaway, eager to forget about our nefarious kitchen island. Yet, the respite was merely a tease. Jaz, in a stroke of spectacular misfortune, narrowly dodged disaster twice in one day—first nearly becoming subway track fodder on her way back after work, and then almost getting knocked out by a rogue plant at our apartment building’s doorstep. Clearly, our previous offerings were mere appetizers to whatever forces we'd stirred. The psychic, summoned once again to our now-dubious sanctuary, decreed that the spirits had developed rather expensive tastes, unsatisfied by our initial gestures.
In a desperate bid for closure, we had the psychic over for a nighttime ritual, timed perfectly with Earth's closest approach to the netherworld, according to her. Our living room turned into a ritual chamber, with windows blacked out for days, to keep the otherworldly dealings strictly nocturnal. That night, we arranged ourselves around the island, now less a kitchen fixture and more an altar of last resort.
The psychic, amidst a chorus of Latin incantations, directed us through a chilling séance that included a mirror that reflected nothing but darkness and a burning black candle, the three of us sat in a row, joined hands, eyes closed. When the black candle was flickering at its last, the first eerie scratches heard prompted our eyes to open prematurely, we saw a command appear on the island, written by invisible hand and pen, in blood-red script, urging us to find the next "succeeder" before our lease on otherworldly disturbances could be terminated.
With bated breath, we agreed, and as if by magic, our signatures materialized on the countertop, then faded as the candle sputtered out. We tore off the black cardboard taped on the windows at dawn, the sunrise revealed a final message etched into the surface: "Debt cleared." As the daylight grew, the ominous inscription dissolved into nothingness, signalling the end of our spectral saga.
The ordeal, now officially behind us, left us enjoying a semblance of normalcy: life in 606 returned to its mundane rhythm, with dinners and movie nights back on our social calendar. Though not without its scars—literal and figurative.
It’s been two years since then, Jaz, in the throes of romantic bliss, is now gearing up for a new chapter waiting to be written alongside her soon-to-be spouse; Kath, her career finally taking a lucrative turn, was poised to upgrade her living situation, she secured a lease on a lavish serviced apartment in the city center—a place that matched her newfound financial swagger.
I’m not without my own leaps forward. With a modest boost from my parents, I took the plunge into homeownership, snagging a property within the city’s vibrant confines. The process was a whirlwind of paperwork and decorating decisions, culminating in a space I could truly call my own.
As we are packing up now, my last act is to type out our story, at the infamous island, and of course, I left a note in the fridge for the next tenants:
"Welcome to 606. We had a wonderful time here, especially at the kitchen island, filled with joy and unforgettable moments. We hope you find as much happiness as we did. Use the isle well. Warm wishes, the previous tenants."

2024.05.15 00:29 Depop_Mods Common Scam FAQ for r/Depop

As everyone knows, scams are a common topic on this sub. As suggested by you guys, we thought we'd create a thread with some common scams and how to avoid them.
This thread will be updated every now and then so keep an eye out for it if you're worried about more scams.
I'd recommend reading through Depop's seller and buyer protection policies.
If any of these has happened to you, or you need further help/support, submit a support ticket to Depop. The mods here are not affiliated with Depop in anyway, so please contact actual Depop via that link if you need more help.
SHEIN/ALIEXPRESS ETC. DROPSHIPPERS: Always reverse image search and check seller’s reviews. The brand is usually always listed as "Other" and the tags have been cut. If the seller has "preorder" or "will ship in 2+ weeks" in their bio, it's very likely a dropshipper.
COUNTERFEIT/REP ITEMS: As a seller, selling Counterfeit and Replica items is against TOS and will result in you being suspended. As a buyer, make sure you thoroughly look at the pictures provided before purchasing. I would suggest reverse image searching, doing research on the item and googling how to spot fake items for the brand you are purchasing. There's also the main sub's authentication request thread or the FashionReps sub to authenticate.
If you do receive a fake item and can prove it's fake and the seller can't prove it's real, you can get a refund through Depop.
EMAIL SCAMS: Depop only sends emails with "@depop.com" at the end. Ignore emails if not from that address.
PAYING OUTSIDE OF APP: Asking and taking payment outside of Depop is against TOS and can result in your account being suspended. Never accept out of app payment. This includes people asking to meet up and pay irl. You aren't covered by Depop protection if that happens.
USERS ASKING FOR YOUR PERSONAL INFO: Never give out personal info if anyone asks, including adding it to your bio. It is NEVER needed.
USERS ASKING YOU TO CONTACT THEM ON OTHER PLATFORMS: No need for this and usually ties into paying outside of the app.
RETURNS/REFUNDS: Under Depop TOS, as a seller, you are not required to refund if you listed the correct sizing, faults etc. If you do agree or are required to refund, NEVER give the money back until you have RECEIVED the item back.
SELLERS TAKING TOO LONG TO SHIP: Sellers are required to ship in 7 days. If they don't, you can get a refund through Depop. Do not wait longer than 30 days.
SELLERS DELETING THEIR ACCOUNT AFTER PURCHASE: Contact Depop to get your refund.
LINKS: Don't click any links anyone gives you unless you know they're real. Clicking unfamiliar links is basically a no-go everywhere on the internet.
"CONGRATS YOUR ITEM IS SOLD" MESSAGE: Often sent by accounts with random names. Report and block.
MESSAGES WITH WEIRD FONT: Scammers use different/weird font to get around Depop's bot trying to filter out scammers. Block and report these people.
BUYER ASKED ME TO CHANGE ADDRESS AFTER ITEM IS DELIVERED: Nothing you can do in this situation and is usually a scam.

2024.05.15 00:28 EveryDot2266 My boyfriend (23M) did not do anything "special" for my (23F) birthday. How can I deal with the feeling of resentment?

My boyfriend and I have a 2,5 year old relationship. I am doing my Erasmus exchange in Paris for 4 months so we are in a long distance relationship for the past 4 months. I really love our relationship but I still feel upset towards him because he did not do anything special for my birthday which was 6 days ago. He just wished me happy birthday, but I guess I was expecting something more romantic. We talked about this and he told me he was not feeling good that day, and he is still thinking I am making a big deal, and also I am a bit selfish because I cared about my birthday more than his feelings when he shared with me that he feels depressed due to his job and not supportive. I get that working a job 10 to 5 after the university's campus atmosphere can be depressing and I am trying to be supportive but I wanted to feel special just for that day.His family does not care about important days such as new year's eve, birthdays, valentines day etc. but I can't help feeling resentful towards him even if I understand his feelings. Even my friends sent me presents even when I'm away, they used Ubereats, a friend of mine sent me a LOL skin etc. In my birthday I told him I expected a long, romantic message from him but he just said he wasn't feeling like that. We talked about that for an hour that night and solved it, I promised to be more supportive and more validating towards his feelings. Doing a LDR is not easy and I get that he was not feeling like making a gesture. I still feel upset because I did not get a apology. I feel like I am a bad girlfriend and a spoiled person because I prioritized my birthday before his feelings.
I want advice on how to deal with this resentment. Please tell me how can I feel his perspective more.

2024.05.15 00:28 Heels6960 How to deal with a dry texter

Seeing a great guy. We are both very busy with work and have independent lives. I don’t need a lot of reassurance or attention over text but I do enjoy getting to know someone and at the moment we can only manage to meet up every 2-4 weeks.
He is more of a “yep, just checking in, I’m doing good, something happened but I’ll tell you about that when we meet” - maybe once a week. He specifically saves stuff for when we are next together rather than talk about it over message. I’m more of a talk 2-3 times a week sort of texter. Just because it’s interesting to learn more about someone, slowly becoming more part of their life and meeting up or messaging are both different ways of doing that.
He’s also not flirty or jokey over text but is very much more so in person with me. When we are on a date, it’s great conversation and getting to know each other more and more. It’s more the contrast with the time between.
We both read and respond immediately so not being left on read just that he doesn’t continue conversations or ask many questions. I feel like it’s me eeking out the conversation to be longer.
Should I just resign myself to not hearing from him for a week at a time? I don’t have a need for constant communication, we aren’t in a committed relationship but it doesn’t quite match my style. I don’t think he would be like this if he had an actual girlfriend - I think he would be in daily contact. It’s just we are early days and not anywhere near that yet. Also he is not seeing other women or in a relationship already - that’s definitely not a worry.
I don’t want to ask him to message more - that feels like a demand I don’t want to make of him at this stage. I guess I’m just struggling a little with not interpreting it as lack of interest…but all his other actions do show his interest.
Would be good to hear from the perspective of guys who know they are a bit dry at texting and get on with their lives but still really look forward to seeing a woman they are interested in for an actual date

2024.05.15 00:27 Ottawagringo Jelly Star in Canada

Looking to dumb down from an iPhone SE 2... I bought a Nokia 2780 to dumb down but the texting with T9 and the image quality in the texts was a deal breaker for me. Otherwise, it is a decent phone. Note: It works on Fizz mobile too (VoLTE). I'll be selling it.
I bought a Jelly Star after reading some good comments in this sub. It works on Fizz mobile as well - just plugged in the SIM and away I went. First impressions in the first week of use: faster than that my SE - couldn't believe it - switching between apps and the home screen is super quick, I switched to Before Launcher and love the dumbed down menus / blocking of apps, texting and messaging is on the small on screen keyboard is perfectly fine - better that I would have thought, stock Google apps are annoying but mostly intuitive, flashlight button is activated easily by holding down a separate button on the side of the phone, has face recognition and fingerprint recognition - I never thought I would care about face recognition but it work very well- even with glasses - impressed, no visual voicemail that I can find.
More on Before Launcher: I bought the pro version which allows you to hide apps and change the fonts on the screen - wow - the screen is so simple and clean - I have no desire to poke around and find browse, etc., you swipe right on the main scree that shows your notifications - this is brilliant - it basically captures all of your notifications in one screen and you can look at them when you want - or not - plus, if you want to go to a message in an app, it sends you right to the spot. A click on the home button and you are back at the simple menu screen. Simple, useful, no doom scrolling.
I'm only a week in but I really like it so far. My iPhone already feels like a bulky relic and overkill. I will still keep it around to use other apps from time to time, watch movies , etc. but I really like the dumbed down Jelly Star - it really feels more like a tool than dopamine factory. I never thought I would switch to an Android but I can see the allure now.
My one worry is that there might be some hidden apps on the phone with a backdoor to PRC servers. I am doing research now to find out which apps I may remove with a debater tool. If anyone has a list of apps to remove, please let me know.

2024.05.15 00:27 Bones_and_Buckies I (33F) am afraid that I like my boyfriend (34m) too much now and I maybe it might scared him away. How do you deal with that?

My ( 33f) relationship is still less than a year. He (34m) asked me out officially on 1/02/24 but we met about 2 months before on Ok Cupid the dating app and haven't stopped talking since then. And recently he asked me to move in with him to his condo he owns. My lease is up in August so thats when ill move.
Ok so when I first met him I wasn't sure about him cause he was goofy, chubby, nerdy and his hair was kinda messy (now I know its always like that) and he lol like wore a bear 🐻 hat the first time me met up. Anyway, first date was fun and then we never stopped seeing eachother since. From the beginning he was all over me and I liked it a lot. And I knew he liked me alot but I was alittle unsure at first. Now 5 months later he has changed im my eyes and looks so handsome and seems so cool and amazing. I find myself getting jealous when my friends are talking to him and he laughs or he talks about some other girl. I can't believe how jealous I have become and I hate the feeling. He has always sent me sweet things and texts me all day for months. Over the last month I have really fallen for him and i cant help but text him now how much I like him and appreciate him. But now.. I've noticed he texts me less and isn't as over pooring with love messages.. which I kinda miss. Im worried not that I have fallen for him and I'm expressing my feelings that it is going to make him not like me anyone and that would be like.. the worst thing now that I want to see this go places. Idk if its in my head but id like some advice on what you think I should do or a way to keep his interest. I just can't believe I'm all gaga for this dork now and I want his attention all the time..

2024.05.15 00:27 Kauaiishbino AITAH? I [F/18] was talking to a guy [M/20] about how I felt about him friendzoning me after leading me on knowing I wanted a relationship. He blocked me because I screenshotted our message talking about it. If I am, is there anything I can do about it? How may he have possibly felt?

I just had things ended because a guy I was talking to finally told me today that he didn't want me and that I wasn't for him, but it ended up going way worse than I wanted.
Everything started with me reconnecting with him in Walmart. I knew him prior to this because we used to go to the same high school together but never really talked. I gave him my instagram and we were talking about our exes cause that is how we even knew each other. While I was texting him, he asked me for my number then we started texting on imessages. He would text me, send me pigeon games, and call me every now and then.
There was one day where he called me and he wanted to ask me sexual questions, I was cool with it cause we had been friends for 2 weeks and plus I don't really have anything to hide. I didn't think much about it while telling him and asking him stuff cause we were friends, he had started talking about how he wanted someone to be friends with benefits with that it wouldn't end up ruining the friendship and I told him I could never do that stuff cause I want to be in a relationship with those that I am sexual with, plus I get clingy with them cause I tend to actually like them.
At some point of talking, he even asked for me to send and I told him that I wanted to do all of that stuff when I get married because my last ex (the ex he knew about) had taken my virginity to get his ex (the guy i was talking to's ex) jealous. I don't know exactly what he said but he said something like "Well it would suck to wait for someone during the relationship just to realize that they aren't good at sex", which made me feel like I was waiting for no reason because after that ex, I never was sexually active with anyone (about 2-3 years counting). I ended up sending some old nudes because I thought it wouldn't matter anymore and that he was kind of cute. After that, the more we talked the more the sexual tension got heavy, he was talking about how he liked my body and how he wanted to fuck me, and I was eating it up cause he was making me feel pretty and wanted. He ended up jerking off to my picture when I let him take the time to (cause I really didn't want to do e-sex cause I've always felt unfulfilled doing it) and when he came back everything was fine.
After some days, we had gotten into this habit of me sending him nudes, taking them how he wanted them to look, with him complimenting me and jerking off to them, there was only one time where we did e-sex, everything else was sending. The sending nudes ended up making me feel how I did in my previous relationship which was like a whore, not an actual person, and like a porn magazine, so I talked to him about it and he told me to just tell him to stop when he does ask. Time passed some more and he would still asked so I talked to him again about it because everytime we would have a sweet moment he would ask me for nudes or say something sexual, but this time he was still entertaining the idea, I assume he was thinking I was playing hard to get, I really don't know, but this time I told him, "I don't think you'll get to the point of actually liking me" because during this time he made it seem like we were leaning into a relationship while I always said that I wanted a relationship, he had backed off when I said that but he replied saying "(my name) don't be like that". After that, the only time that we would be sexual was whenever I initiated it, which would be about once every 2-3 weeks.
During that I would treat him like a boyfriend, but he was still being plain towards me, (he even told me that he liked the way I treated him) the only time he would compliment me was when I dressed up, so I asked him about how he was rarely lovey dovey towards me and he told me that he needed more time to get to like me even more than he did cause he wanted to take things slow, I got salty and told him that sexting me and wanting me to send nudes wasn't take it slow, he didn't say anything about that but smirked and change the topic. Every now and then, I'd make slick comments about stuff that didn't make sense. We had gotten to a point where he told me that he wasn't going to be texting and calling as much because he wants to start his business up, which I had no problem with that, I told him that I would always be there for him and when needed me, if there was anything I could do to just let me know, and I even told him if he felt like he needed to not pursue a relationship right now that we could stop or cut ties for now. He agreed with him not pursuing a relationship, again stating that he wants to put all of his focus in the business, and that there was nothing wrong with me, just that he wanted to focus on himself. I told him that I didn't know if I was cool being just friends because I was actually trying to pursue a relationship with him and that if I figured out how I felt about it I would let him know so that things didn't get toxic between us.
6 days later (5/10/2024),
At night, I told him the way everything is right now is making me confused and overwhelmed because I didn't really understand what our status was, and it wasn't somewhere I wanted to be especially after sending him pictures of my body using a voice message. I also told him that I was regretting showing him my body cause of how I felt I was being used but didn't want to assume and was hoping that he just needed time, he replied the next day during the afternoon telling me that I was a good person just that he couldn't see a future with me, that he thought he made his want of being only friends clear, that we would go different directions if we did get together. I got confused about that part because everytime I would try and talk to him about us meeting up and how we would maintain the relationship, he would tell me that it was too soon to talk about it, so i got a bit mad and asked him how he came to that conclusion knowing that we didn't talk about it at all, how he knew my boundaries but didn't straight up tell me that he didn't want me so I could save my time, and how he didn't make anything clear cause I thought we were on pause for now and going to attempt to try again once the business started up. He then told me that I was trying to guilt him, to not be mad at him because he didn't want a relationship, that he didn't want me, that I wasn't for him, and to not get mad at him for something he couldn't control.
I told him that I wasn't meaning to guilt him (cause I wasn't, I was just being transparent and honest on how I felt) and that I wanted to call instead of texting cause i didn't like it, I felt more miscommunication was happening, he told me he didn't want to call because he didn't want me to call him an asshole and how my problems are his fault, I told him i never said it was his fault but he corrected me by reminding me i said it in the voice message i sent last night (I was really high when I made it, so i didn't remember much when I woke up), so i listened to it and I literally told him that it was half of his fault that I'm confused about our status and how I needed more stability from him, so I told him that just adding that I was also at fault to for not knocking him down when he first came at me. After that, I started screenshotting the messages for my notion journal to dissect more on how I feel about it to try to understand more on how i felt and to help me move on, but he gets PISSED, he texted me on imessage.
him: "yeah no, fuck your screenshots"
me: "why you don't even know what i'm going to do with them?"
him: "1 screenshot. Sure. 3??? Nahhh. You trynna catch me up. I one you and screenshots and I don't fuck with it. That drew the line for me. You right. We shouldn't talk."
THEN HE FUCKING BLOCKS ME ON EVERYTHING EVEN GETTING A MUTUAL FRIEND OF OURS TO BLOCK ME. So i start racing to talk to him because I didn't think it was a big ass deal, so i text him on discord and he's telling me to fuck off and blocks me. I kept finding ways to contact him trying to explain to him and apologizing that I'm keeping it to myself and that its nothing more but he tells me to fuck off even more to the point where he even threatens to report me. I gave up and I sent my last message to him telling him that he basically sucks, doesn't reciprocate any mercy I've given to him or treat me as if I mattered to him, how it was unfair how stubborn he was to not even try to understand how i felt, how i still, despite, the entirety of the situation, love him, and hopes his life goes well.
I do want to add that I understand constantly texting him and calling him about it was a bad move, I truly was just acting on my emotions instead of calming down then making a choice.

2024.05.15 00:26 ProfessionalAbalone Alila Marea in Encinitas is a hot mess

At 650-700 dollars a night, run away. It was comically bad, where my wife at breakfast asked me if we were being punked.
Go to PH aviara, GH manchester instead. I hear shorebird is good too, but never been. Just don't go to Alila Marea. It isn't worth it.
We're generally easy going... I just wanted to stay, have a quiet time, eat breakfast, and chill. This was not a chill visit.

2024.05.15 00:26 LessSatisfaction3718 Did I self sabotage (24F) after a hookup or did I make the right choice to stay friends with (25M)?

Hello, I am a frequent viewer of this subreddit and I am having an issue that I am second guessing. So I've known my male friend since around high school. Things never really worked in high school but we both had huge crushes on each other but never reciprocated it correctly (from both of our own admissions). We get to college and we went to separate schools and became somewhat distant but were still close friends as we'd both come home a lot and we'd still hang out. Most of the time we just hung out as friends and enjoyed each others company, a few times we got intimate but never to the point of sex. His senior year of college he had a girlfriend and we got more distant out of respect for the relationship. They broke up shortly after he graduated. After their breakup we got intimate one more time but we had an intimate talk about progressing to sex and how it was a big step for both of us, so we decided to not go that far with things.
In present day, we were still friends but our communication became a lot more distant. I admit I had feelings for him in this year and still do now. I just really admire the person he is and I would love to be with him. We still maintained communication and always checked in on each other but never spent much time physically together due to time consuming careers, especially since my job requires me to travel a lot.
I am a lot more settled and stationary with my job now and we ended up hanging out at each others place about a week ago. Everything felt comfortable and like old times and eventually we ended up having sex, multiple times... It was really good and we had great chemistry. I stayed over at his house and we cuddled and ended up having sex again in the morning. But instantly after I went home I began to second guess everything and regret the sex.. We texted that same morning and he mentioned how he wanted me to come over again that night, but he ended up going ghost that night, so I feel like this really triggered me.... The sex just seemed to happen so fast too... like we were both turned on and I really enjoyed it but his energy just seemed much more different than the last time we were intimate. I guess it made me feel distrustful of him as well.
I used to be a lot more open with sexual things and did so more freely. After lots of experiences where I was used for sex and led on to believe things would be more but didn't, the act of sex now always fills me with regret, dread and anxiety and I always think of how I should've waited. I have kind of shut myself off to dating and sex in general for a bit over a year as I just couldn't deal with all of the ups and downs.
So in the morning i felt really horrible about the whole thing, and in my head I figured he just wants me as a hookup... Especially since prior to we said we both get attached to sex but it didn't seem like he was any different..
So I called him and told him that I think we should just be friends.. I basically told him that I didn't want to ruin our friendship by being just about hooking up with each other. He simply responded Okay and we hung up and haven't spoke since which is weird because we are generally close even prior to this..
Did I make the right call? Was this likely going to just result in a hookup situation? I feel like if it wasn't he would've said something, especially since I made sure to say the reason for this decision was because I hadn't had sex in so long and didnt want things to become just about sex with us... And guys will usually say that a guy will make it known if he wants to be with a girl. and there will be no confusion... I would love to be with him but I cant be that same girl I was pining over a guy that tells me "sweet nothings" just to keep me around which has happened pretty much every time before... I should also mention I have never been in a fully committed relationship... just talking stages and situationships so I dont know if Im going about this all wrong.
Tl;Dr: Childhood close friends and I hooked up with each other. I told him I just want to keep things platonic because Im not looking for a hookup. I am wondering if I made the wrong decision or self sabotaged...
