The Monaco Grand Prix is sometimes referred to as the Crown Jewel of the Formula 1 calendar, and (with the exception of the 2020 season due to, ahem, "operating restrictions") has been on the calendar each year without fail since 1955. Held in the streets of Monte Carlo, this event is one of the most prestigious races in all of motorsport, held amongst all the glitz and glamour of the fabulous wealth of the Cote d'Azur. It also happens to be the site of one of Formula 1's more unusual (and light-hearted) mysteries: the missing Monaco diamond. With the Monaco Grand Prix being held this weekend, I thought it would be nice to discuss this little legend of Formula 1 history.
In 2004, the Jaguar F1 team ran a special promotional livery at Monaco, advertising the newly released film "Ocean's Twelve". As part of the livery, in addition to the usual excessively garish (even by Formula 1 standards...) paintjob, a pair of $200,000 Steinmetz diamonds were installed in the nosecones of both cars. Due to the nature of the stunt, no sane insurance company (for reasons that are about to become clear) was willing to insure the diamonds. Perhaps this should have been the first clue to Jaguar that what they were doing was not a good idea. Regardless, they pressed on with their stunt.
In the seat of one Jaguar was Mark Webber, on his 3rd year of driving in Formula 1, while the other seat was taken by Christian Klien, a rookie in his breakout season.
A little bit of context here. The nosecone of a Formula 1 car is... not a very strong piece, all truth be told. It's also one of the easier pieces for a driver to break if they have a crash, being, y'know, right at the front of the car. There is a reason why Formula 1 teams carry multiple sets of front wings to each race.
Bearing that in mind...
Monaco itself is known for being a real challenge of a track. Unlike most modern tracks, Monaco gives drivers minimal, if any, room for error. In motorsport parlance, Monaco is a "street circuit", which is exactly what the name suggests; the circuit is built out of existing streets around the principality. Being residential streets with normal speed limits in place for about 361 days of the year, the streets of Monaco are, by F1 standards, notoriously narrow. Few, if any, of the turns have any "run-off" space if a driver makes a mistake in a corner and goes off. As a result, if a driver screws up here, they are very likely to end up hitting the Armco barriers around the track nose-first, and face a very lonely walk back to the team garage.
Remember what I said about the nosecone being quite a fragile piece... yeah...
I think you can see where this is going.
An uninsured $200,000 dollar diamond, placed on the most fragile part of a Formula 1 car, driven by a rookie, at the one circuit most likely to see the destruction of the aforementioned most fragile part of a Formula 1 car; it sounds like something out of a slapstick comedy.
It took all of, ooohhh, about 5 corners before the inevitable happened.
Coming out of Turn 5 (Mirabeau Haute), Christian Klein crashed nose first into the Armco barrier, putting him out of the race.
The car was quickly taken off the track by the marshals, the wreckage swept up, and the race resumed. But Jaguar's mechanics could not get to the stricken R5 until the race had finished. Lo and behold, when they finally recovered their car, much to the horror (but probably not the surprise) of all involved, the $200,000 Steinmetz diamond had gone missing.
2 full decades later, the diamond has never resurfaced, sparking endless debates on the ultimate fate of the gem. Did an opportunistic marshal or fan steal it? Could it have been simply swept into a Monegasque storm drain and washed out to sea? Might it still be somewhere around Sector 1 of the Circuit de Monte Carlo? There are even rumours that, at the last minute, Jaguar swapped the real diamonds on the nosecones for replicas.
The idea of the diamond becoming dislodged and promptly "acquired" by an opportunistic marshal or fan in the grandstands is a very real possibility. Fans have been known for their "creative acquisition" of "souvenirs" in the past, up to and including things as small as marbles (motorsport parlance for bits of rubber shed from tyres) after a race. A $200,000 diamond would likely make for the ultimate souvenir from a race.
Alternatively, there is also a good chance that the diamond was swept into the drains. If that is the case, it's almost certainly somewhere out in the harbour by now, never to be seen again until erosion and/or continental subduction consume it once and for all, barring some freak occurrence with a random diver who spots a weird glinting object on the seafloor.
Perhaps the diamond ended up being carried off with the tyre barrier and dropped far away from Sector 1, or it might even be somewhere around there.
As for the rumours of the whole thing being a sham, well, there's some merit to this idea as well. Seeing as most F1 engineers and marketing people aren't exactly idiots, it doesn't seem that farfetched for a quick swap to have been done on the nosecone, perhaps changing out the diamond for a piece of Cubic Zirconia or even just some clear glass/plastic. Not as if you'd notice the difference from 40 feet away on a blur moving at around 150mph anyway. Though, it's worth noting that Jaguar's Head of Communications and Public Affairs, one Nav Sidhu, has bluntly denied these allegations. Sidhu, incidentally, remains firmly of the belief that someone, somewhere out there has his $200,000 diamond. Equally, Klien saw the real diamond in his car before he got in, and it certainly didn't leave his sight until he crashed at Turn 5!
All's well that ends well, however, and Jaguar ultimately got exactly what they wanted from the stunt: publicity. For several weeks, the story of the disappearing diamond was in the news all over the world. The team's name was all over the headlines, with flashy pictures of their car. And while yes, some people called them out as reckless for putting on such an insane stunt, the old saying "There's no such thing as bad publicity" certainly applies. There is some merit to the idea that the publicity was a major factor in convincing another buyer to take Jaguar out of Ford Motors' hands. Incidentally, that buyer happened to be one Red Bull GmBH, the current reigning F1 World Constructors Champions!

I came up with quite a long formula (maybe there could be a simpler way but I wouldn't know), with which I have single cell (A9) containing the measurements of a recipe, for example: "sugar 0,30+salt 2,00 guaranteed+salt pinch".
There are 3 key words: [the ingredient], guaranteed, pinch.
I have a column for each [ingredient], and the cells in the "salt" column for example, have a formula that searches for the word "salt" and outputs the number after the keyword using MID and SEARCH functions, and if the string in A9 contains one of the other keywords or both it should act as shown below:
if it contains "guaranteed" does this =MROUND((1,54-((A9/10)-0,01))*A9;0,05) to the measurement
if it contains "pinch" adds +0,05 to the measurement
and if it contains both, it should apply "guaranteed" first, then it adds "pinch".
So the entire formula goes like this:

Hi everyone!
My name is Jack, I'm 21 and I'm a recent cyber security and forensics and internetworking and network security graduate, but I hope to go on for a few more years and do post grad studies! (this year my goal is to move to Edinburgh for my masters!)
Hobbies!: For the past few years I've been heavily into formula 1, never missing a race (even the 3 am ones and even worse, the 7 am ones!)
I also enjoy doing photography, I mainly do cars but I have recently started thinking about more landscape/urban photography.
Now for games! My main ones are Destiny 2, and rainbow six siege, (for those wondering my highest rank is diamond 3 (when rank actually meant something lol)), but I haven't been playing them much these days. I play heaps more than that but I can't think of them off the top of my head lol. To try and list some id say project zomboid is one I'm very into as of right now, that and hell divers 2. I really enjoyed elden ring so I want to try more souls like games. Red dead redemption 2 is amazing and my favourite game of all time is probably watch dogs 2.
I love JDM cars and unfortunately haven't been to a car meet in over a year now. My introduction to photography was through cars so if you'd like to see some of my photos do let me know! Most of my part time work went towards getting my dream car so I definitely plan on going to more meets!
As for what I look like I'm 5"11' brown hair that touches my shoulders and never acts normally. I am 75 ish kg and I have brown eyes. That's a basic description of me but if you want a picture that's not an issue.

 | Hi everyone! I used to be a very loyal Lush Henna Rouge user. Well, that ended two days ago. I am extremely disappointed that I spent $36 on what has amounted to a tinted hair mask. submitted by reileyawiin to LushCosmetics [link] [comments] I should have read reviews before my purchase, which is why I'm writing this here - hopefully I can either help people avoid or utilize this by providing an accurate showcase of what Rouge has turned into since they pulled it off the shelves and revamped it. So, I bought it thinking that the formula was reverted to the original, which is clearly not the case. I have attached 3 images - one showing the difference in the bleached vs virgin parts of my hair from 2022 vs now. Another shows the vibrant, vivid red I used to get when dying virgin hair, and the longevity of the vivid was lasting even 2 months later. The last is my hair directly before and after my most recent use of the newest formula. As you can see from my pictures, there is a HUGE difference in the pigmentation present now. I'm not sure why they changed it, but it was a complete waste of money. It did not do what was advertised nor did it compare to the old formula. Nothing changed in my preparation or application, and I kept this new formula on for 3 hours. I rinsed it and went to bed. My bleached bangs are bleached in the exact same way as before, and the difference is stunning (in a bad way) between how it used to dye my processed bangs vs how it does now I also want to mention that before, if I got henna in my eyes, it was no different than getting a bit of dirt in them, and it stung a bit but had no other effects once rinsed. This time around, the product STUNG my eyes like a chemical shampoo. It also got in my mouth a bit and it was the most awful bitter and chemical taste. The product is now super grainy, and during rinsing I had some breakage because my hair got caught and tangled. Overall, I am not impressed, and have reached out to support for my money back because not only did I have to use more (1/2 block vs my old usage of 1/3rd of a block), I now have to get another brand and redo it. I also wasted 4 hrs of my time with what I thought was a good product. Even lush staff think they changed it back to the original formula, which is wrong. This product might be good for you if you want a tinted hair mask. It did condition a bit, my hair smells nice, and the pigment is pretty subtle, so if you're just looking to brighten your hair a bit and bring out subtle and natural looking highlights and lowlights, then this would be perfect. Unfortunately, I was expecting the deep vivid red I used to get, so this product will never be purchased by me again if they don't revert. I will be attempting to henna my hair properly tonight with Light Mountain Henna Dye in Red, and I can update in the comments to tell if it can be a substitute for the old lush formula. This is not a dig at Polin shippers. The building blocks of a romance every bit as good as the other seasons is there, but I feel the assembly and design leave much to be desired. Yes, they have a different vibe as pre existing friends and we've seen them around for 2 seasons already. But there are a few vital missing pieces from the sucessful formula.
1) Not enough time spent on them and their story Compare this to season 1. Events / storyline that are main couple focused vs not and time spent on them. Featherington money problems (which leads to sub stories of Mondrich fix, Phillipa and Finch and technically Marina) Marinas whole storyline (leads to unofficial diamond, pregnancy, Colin the Sir Phillip) , Anthony and Sienna, Whistledown / Queen / Eloise, Benedict's parties ... and I think that's it.
So 5 non couple stories taking up maybe 2 out of 8 hours of screen time.
Compare this to the becoming the diamond, the obvious set up, Anthonys disapproval, fake relationship, Berbrook, the prince, the duel, Cressidas threats, the Queens denial, understanding marital love, becoming a duchess, Simons insecurity, the baby scandal and reconciliation.
So 14 storybeats / subplots. 75% of the season is something directly relating to the couple.
Season 3 non Polin storylines: Mondrich becoming nobles, adjusting to the rules, wanting to run the club.
Cressida befriending Eloise, and making her a better person by calling her out on her crap,, her parents pressure, courting Lord Debling
Francesca being the Sparkler. Being uncomfortable with attention. Being set up by the Queen. Being charmed and kinda but not actually rejected by Earl Sinclair, being gifted the music and rejecting the Marquess
Benedict's latest romance. Benedict not wanting to court but accidentally looking like he does.
Kate and Anthony adjusting to their roles and living with the family. Deciding to keep violet on.
Violet adjusting her style with her daughters on the marriage mart. Violet meeting a new man.
The featheringtons on notice re the forged documents. The sisters baby making attempts.
Lady Danburys tension with her brother.
So even if we count the main players that's 8 subplots.
With Polin the points are: confronted about his statement last season. Lambasting Colin in Whistledown, Doing lessons and being bad at flirting. Getting found out. The kiss. Starting to romance Debling. The balloon incident. Deblings courting and getting permission, Colin interrupting the dance, he carriage.
Maybe 2 hours out of 4 with half of Pens romantic time being with Debling. That's 50% between the main story and the side stories. And again 50% of Pens romance time is with Debling so like 25% screen time is the main couple.
2) When one is looking at the other, the other isn't aware of it. We've had lingering looks, almost hand touches in intense moments, sexual / romantic tension overload in dances and the couple unable to keep their eyes off the other in previous seasons. A shared romantic tension.
In Polin, Penelope has given up on him and doesn't look at Colin at ALL. And now all he can do is stare from across a room and she's completely unaware or even sneaking a glance his way.
It ruins the mutual attraction because while we KNOW she's always had feelings for Colin, it feels like, legitimately, Debling is better option for romantic tension.
That's a failing on the script and directors, not the actors. They're literally building all the tension between Penelope and Debling.
I mean FFS, the scene where she's eating something and Colin is staring. How hard would it be for him to pretend there was something and brush it away? They could have made it so another patron was buying something so the shop keep and customer weren't looking. Had Penelope, flush and slightly tremble under his touch, a flash of the kiss playing on screen, his eyes smouldering for a second before Penelope looks down and steps back.
