Welcome to Day 42 of WiyHat?. Today's topic is "Sumireko Usami", the "Mystic and Troublesome Female Student".
She is introduced as the main antagonist of Touhou 14.5: Urban Legend in Limbo. Despite being an ostensible "normal" human from the Outside World (^{the Kanto region}), she effectively has an assorted amount of psychic powers, or just ESP in general. She creates the Secret Sealing Club (first seen in ZUN's stories with Renko & Maribel) at her high school Higashifukami and becomes its first president because of her interest in the occult (and then Gensokyo).
Sumireko is one of those characters ZUN really made a big deal out of after her introduction: to put it plainly, she was basically everywhere back during her heyday. I'll go over all of her appearances first:
Games:
-14.5 (ULiL): Sumireko is the antagonist of the game, who instigated a plot using "Occult Balls" to bring residents of Gensokyo to the Outside World for a short time so that she can learn things about them. However, every single person who came to her fought back, much to her curiosity. Eventually, Mamizou tricks Sumireko to be the one who is brought over and trapped in Gensokyo instead.
Cue Sumireko's own story mode, which has her fight everyone else to find a way back to the Outside World. Miko eventually just tells her to use the balls whenever she wants to return, albeit technically temporarily now that she's a "resident". Sumireko eventually panics, believing she'll die at this rate, and so decides to sacrifice herself by unleashing the full power of the Occult Balls, possibly destroying the Great Hakurei Barrier.
Reimu stops her, but not before Sumireko accidentally activates a Lunar Capital Ball, which links Gensokyo to the Lunar Capital, therefore setting up TH15 and Gensokyo's potential "purification" by Sagume Kishin, if she can't deal with those attacking the Lunar Capital. ^{So, yeah, even though Sumireko was stopped in 14.5, she still inadvertently put Gensokyo in grave danger later on. She's not unlike a certain trio who created a cascade of incidents back in TH10...}
Regardless, Sumireko later apologized and befriended most of the characters after this particular incident, and her tales of the Outside World intrigue most of the residents in Gensokyo.
-15.5 (Antinomy of Common Flowers): Sumireko basically stumbles into Gensokyo at a bad time, and has to find her way out of the Dream World using Doremy's help. Although this sounds like a minor issue, her "Dream soul" was released into the Outside World as this happened, which could have had dire consequences, according to Yukari. Bizarrely, Sumireko encountered 2 versions of her Dream soul, here. Eventually, she solves the problem, with Doremy confirming she was the "real" one who prevailed in the end.
16.5 (Violet Detector): Sumireko keeps having weird dreams were she has to fight off dream world dwellers jealous of her having a "real" body. After a while, she finds and fights the real Okina. Impressed by her resilience, Okina lends her power to fight off even stronger nightmares, with the upside that if she wins, the dreams will stop eventually.
That is, until it turns out the "Sumireko" we've been playing as was the Dream version of the real one all along! Okina rescinds the power she lent to the Dream version so that the real one (which you now play as) has a fair shot at getting her body back (since the Dream one was in control of her body). Sumireko wins, and then she wakes up not remembering anything, and the player is left complaining at ZUN for not actually creating any new patterns for this game.
Oh, yeah, she also makes outrageously "hip" descriptions of the patterns when she manages to win it definitely doesn't endear her to some people.
That's all for the game appearances, which while only 3, left her with quite a bit of presence during that era of Touhou. 16.5 is Sumireko's own solo game, by the way, in case you didn't know.
As for her Printworks appearances:
-Grimoire of Usami: Basically, this is Sumireko taking a page out of Marisa, and making a Grimoire where she explains various Danmaku attacks done during a "Fireworks festival". While there's a bit of a plot in here, it's mostly just descriptions of patterns.
-Wild and Horned Hermit: Sumireko's dream souls cause trouble again in chapter 29. She also (accidentally) summons a UFO at the Hakurei Shrine in chapter 31, much to Reimu's irritation.
-Curiosities of Lotus Asia: This was basically known as "Rinnosuke's series", except after a long hiatus, it was brought back with Sumireko taking center stage in almost every new chapter, much to the irritation of some people. Put plainly, Sumireko works part-time with Rinnosuke there, which is why she's so involved.
She also had various cameos in most of the other printworks (including further cameos in WaHH).

So, am I done summing up Sumireko? Well, no. Because I glossed over so much, I should mention that Sumireko's good friends with Mokou because she matched her blow to blow in a duel they once had, and friends with Kasen too, even giving her (and various other people) nicknames. ^{She's friends with Reimu, Marisa, Mamizou and Rinnosuke, too, but that was already implied before.}
PHEW! Now, that's a lot of canon stuff for a single character, particularly one introduced so much later into the franchise's continuity!
You might be thinking: "What about her relation with Renko Usami? They have the same family name!" Well, the truth is, we still don't know to this day what the exact relation between the two is. We assume Sumireko is Renko's grandma or something, making her one of the few Touhou characters to (eventually) canonically have a family, but even that's not confirmed for sure, so we can only theorize about it.
More to the point...what do the fans think of Sumireko?
Well, according to the yearly popularity polls, she started off decently popular, but she's dropped hard lately, going as low as 80th last year (2023). This is partly due to her diminishing presence in the canon, presumably, but...
...it's also because, not unlike other Outside World foreigners to Gensokyo like Sanae and Mamizou, Sumireko's got a bit of a hatedom who detested how much ZUN pushed her as a "regular" of Gensokyo, despite the fact she wasn't even truly living there, and that she got off too easily for almost ending Gensokyo's very existence...twice, no less!
And then there are those who are fans of Rinnosuke who hate that he has to share the spotlight with her all the time when "his" series was brought back. Or maybe the fans of Mokou who hate that instead of ZUN further expanding on her relation with Kaguya/Keine/someone else from the Windows era, she gets stuck with a generic isekai wannabe.
Yeah, I think that's the core of the issue with Sumireko for some people: She's essentially got no real relation or story to the actual core of Gensokyo's world^\1), and thus comes across as inherently boring to them. And yet, many canon stories used to revolve around her, much to their frustration.
^\1 Sumireko technically visited Gensokyo as a kid through her dreams, so technically she does have a backstory with Gensokyo, but she never remembered her experiences there back then and it feels more like lore stuff than actual backstory to most fans.)
Of course, Sumireko still has some diehard fans, and she does provide a niche hardly many other characters have, so don't be surprised to see her in fanworks involving Outside World stuff.

I am a person with narcissistic personality disorder, and the thing I want to say in this community is A person with NPD should always be held accountable for any harm they do to anyone else. Physical or emotional or mental abuse is unacceptable. People who deal with or are in relationships with people who have NPD have the right to establish clear boundaries and they also have the right to end the relationships if the person with NPD cannot respect the boundaries or the rules or the expectations.
I come from the point of view that I have a mental illness. I believe that people with NPD deserve to be treated like anyone with a mental illness. We deserve the opportunity to get help. We deserve the opportunity to recover if we choose to. And we deserve compassion.
Having said that I just want to make it really clear that having NPD is not an excuse to hurt people. Whatever deficiencies I might have as a result of my childhood and whatever trauma I might be living with, none of that is a get out of jail free card.
Unfortunately I think that because we live in the society that chooses to vilify people with narcissistic personality disorder, we wind up with a lot of false information. No one wants to believe that their partner is a monster. So a lot of people will give that person chance after chance. They are in these relationships that seem like carnival rides. They don't understand what's going on. It has to be awful because your love is the thing that keeps you going back to something that winds up being very painful.
I think that if we as a society were better educated about what NPD is, More people would either end those relationships sooner or would have a better understanding of what they needed to do to try to help repair those relationships. If you understand why it is your partner is doing the things that they're doing, then you have a better chance at countering it. And coming up with a constructive way to repair things.
But it is a deal breaker if the person with NPD is unwilling to honestly work through the issues and to try to improve. I have been in relationships where I was destroyed by the fact that the other person chose to leave, but looking back on it I admire them. And the fact that they left me actually helps me now. At that time I couldn't see what was wrong with me. I couldn't see my mistakes. I didn't acknowledge them or accept them. But the other person drew a line and stuck to it and left. And now all these years later I'm able to see that what they did was brave and that if I want to improve myself I need to be a better person. Even though I lost that person, their love for me did me some good. It also allowed them to leave the relationship and hopefully move on to something better.
I know life is not as simple as what I have just described, but I do believe that the more we know about each other the better off will be. And the more people outside of the world of NPD understand what's going on inside of a person's mind and heart who has NPD the better their choices will be. The options are better.
If it's inappropriate for me to come here and post this, I apologize. I've just been thinking a lot about this. I don't want to be treated like a monster, but that means I have to act like a human. And human beings have to take responsibility for themselves. And human beings have to be willing to make improvements when things are wrong or accept the fact that things are going to fall apart. That's what I'm trying to do. I'm just trying to be a better human.

What is Dark Magic?
That's the question, I'm sure, if not every single one, but the majority of readers asked themselves at least once. Dark Magic in general is described as magic malicious in nature, one that's used to cause harm. It doesn't really make sense: a good applied Incendio is just as well to kill you as a swift Killing Curse, even more painfully, in fact. Or why Imperius is Unforgivable, but love potions are totally fine and legal and not considered Dark? And I'm sure people here are painfully familiar with many such arguments.
Did you know that "Petrificus Totalus" spell Hermione used on Neville at the end of the first book is a dark charm? Apparently, according to "The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1" from Pottermore, jinxes, hexes and curses (though the last one is obvious) are all dark spells. And that includes such things as Ron's Slug-Vomiting Curse, Ginny's signature Bat-Bogey Hex, even Leg-Locking Curse that Draco used to bully Neville in first year. All because their purpose is to cause a negative effect.
So, some Dark Magic is bad, but other is used regularly in schoolyard fights, and no one bats an eye. Where's the line and who sets it?
Alright, Dark Magic in canon doesn't make sense. That means, that a lot of fic writers take it upon themselves to fill the gaps in logic and give their own definitions of what magic constitutes as dark. From the top of my head, I can remember a few, let me know if you recognize them:

• Dark magic is magic that's powered by emotions. Everyone knows that to properly use Killing or Cruciatus Curse, you have to fully desire to cause death and pain, so that fits. Also, by this definition, Patronus Charm is dark because it's powered by happiness. Why not, quite a good irony.
• Dark magic is powered by external source, while "light" magic is internal. I don't remember the details, but it was something to the effect that external makes it more powerful, and power corrupts, so it's feared. A bit strange but has a nice message behind it. Also, why I'm on the topic, a friendly reminder to those who are too deep in fanon and mix things up with canon. There's no such thing as "light" magic, just like there was no "Light" side in the war. There's Dark and there's everything else.
• Dark magic is one that is secret familial magic. People develop or discover new spells and for whatever reason decide not to share them, but to hoard them in their family grimoire, so other people don't know such a powerful spell or countermeasures against it. Usually this is followed by some heavy pureblood Houses politics, Lordships and such. Also, I've seen fics where bloodline gifts such as Tonks' metamorphmagus ability were considered Dark Magic for whatever reason (Bashed Dumbledore's propaganda to suppress pureblood Houses, more likely).
• Dark magic is the one that's forbidden by government. This is my personal favorite, as I prefer harder magical systems. In this case, it means that there's nothing inherently wrong in this magic, it's not different in nature from any other magic, just one that's seen as too dangerous. Of course, it also invites a heavy abuse by government to declare anything they don't want to as dangerous Dark Magic that's to be prosecuted for, but that's another story.

I like these theories, I like when people try to come up with their own interpretations or their ways to fill the holes in lore and logic. Not all of them I agree with, but it hardly matters.
What peeves me, however, is when authors use this fact, that there's no clear definition of Dark Magic or Dark Arts, as an excuse to basically do whatever they want. A character (more likely, main one) does or practices something that people don't like, so they just accuse them with an empty argument "it's bad, it's Dark Magic!". And no one can argue, because no one understands what Dark Magic even is! They don't have a box list of criteria to disprove. "I don't know what you're doing, I don't understand it - it's Dark Magic, it's bad."
It's one of the favorite arguments in Hermione or Order bashing stories when MC does something they do not approve of. Dumbledore bashing uses a bit different arguments, but this one can also be included.
It's just such a... I don't want to call it a bashing tool, because I can't say if every such story involves a heavy bashing, but it has potential to be, at least. I'd call it a bludgeoning tool. Just a blunt method to make characters do whatever they want without the need for any finer details: it's so much easier to just use the brand "Dark Magic" and get over it, why give any explanations.
Although, to be completely fair, canon does it as well to some extent.

“Did something happen to it when Flint blocked him?” Seamus whispered.
“Can’t have,” Hagrid said, his voice shaking. “Can’t nothing interfere with a broomstick except powerful Dark magic — no kid could do that to a Nimbus Two Thousand.”

Non-Dark magic can't do something like that? What is Dark about taking control of a broom anyway? Though, admittedly it's Hagrid, no matter his virtues, not the most reliable or knowledgeable of sources on this topic.

“Ask him,” shrieked Filch, turning his blotched and tearstained face to Harry.
“No second year could have done this,” said Dumbledore firmly. “It would take Dark Magic of the most advanced — ”

Again, I don't understand what the heck it is, so it must be Dark Magic. But, it is Dumbledore and highly knowledgeable wizard, plus it's clearly a harmful effect, so it's more assumption based on those, plus experience.

“Nonsense, O’Flaherty,” said Professor Binns in an aggravated tone. “If a long succession of Hogwarts headmasters and headmistresses haven’t found the thing — ”

“But, Professor,” piped up Parvati Patil, “you’d probably have to use Dark Magic to open it — ”
The Chamber of Secrets can't be kept a secret without resorting to Dark Magic? If no one found it, so it must be something truly obscure and terrible, so it's Dark. But, I mean, she's a second year girl...

Black jumped at being addressed like this and stared at Hermione as though he had never seen anything quite like her.

“If you don’t mind me asking, how — how did you get out of Azkaban, if you didn’t use Dark Magic?”
But Hermione surely disappoints here. Apparently, non-Dark countermeasures are all accounted for, so if they failed he must have used some Dark stuff.
It's very sad picture, which says about either ignorance on the matter, which is excusable for children but pity that it's not taught, or arrogance in the assumption that you know every bit of non-Dark magic there is and can be.
Anyway, we came back to the canon and it's understanding of Dark Magic. I spent some time thinking about it, what J.K.Rowling meant by it, without resorting to any headcanons.
No one can argue that Harry Potter series is filled with symbolism as any good fiction tends to be. It's a story for children, at least started as, and young adults, so besides a good adventure it also contains a moral message and more than one. The story of Boy-Who-Lived is about love and redemption, first and foremost. "Love is the most powerful thing in the world" is not just a preaching of a senile old man, but the most central point of the whole book series.
So, based on this, I believe that in canon Dark Magic at its basics is the magic that corrupts the soul. What it means is open to interpretation, as it often is when the topic of a human soul is involved. It's all based on the same moral messages between the lines: when you do bad things to others, it slowly but surely corrupts your soul, and if you fall into temptation, only love and compassion can heal the harm done to yourself. Harry vs Voldemort is basically the fight between Love and Hate, Soul and Soulless. That's why Patronus is basically an epitome of defense. And that's why Horcruxes are considered to be The Darkest of Magic, when it literally tears the soul apart. And that's why the cold blooded murder is even involved in the process of making one - metaphorical tear becomes literal.
To be completely honest, I find myself a bit resentful of the message, no matter how nice and beautiful it sounds. It somehow implies that soul is only about love, compassion, friendship and so on, that any negative feelings do not and must not have a part in it. But, I guess, it's a bit too much of a philosophical, ethical and psychological question to dive into in here.

Hey! Hope you're doing well. It seemed like a good idea posting here and my gut is mostly right!
I'm a 23 y/o guy from Ontario, Canada. Currently, I am working at an office here doing some more basic legal work. On the side, I am trying to start my own practice, as I am licensed to practice law here. So I am very passionate about that and the law in general. Particularly with Human Rights and the many issues that renting tenants deal with here. (In fact, I was actually at a hearing representing a client today!).
For reference, I am 6'0", white, wear glasses, 230lbs, shorter-medium jet-black hair, and have brown eyes. Have photos available as well!
Recently, I've been keeping pretty active. Been losing weight like crazy and I have a simple diet that I stick to. So a decent amount of time is spent being active and working.
Besides that, I love to cook. I cook almost every day and I would like to think that I'm pretty good at it. I just BBQ'd some ribs on the weekend that I would love to show you 😩
I am also really into video games. Mostly whatever I can get into after work. Recently its been a lot of Balatro and WoW. I would also love to try other games with someone else. I love most types of games.
Also completely obsessed with music. I play guitar and have been trying to teach myself piano. Love most types of music and recently I have been listening to a lot of MF DOOM and Madlib beat tapes, along with Kate Bush, Leonard Cohen, and more. Could go on forever about most music haha.
Also enjoy reading pretty often, baking, and currently growing basil and chili peppers. I am also studying/learning Korean if that's at all relevant.

I've been on/off with a girl I met in college for 2.5 years. Currently a recent college grad and she will finish her undergrad in August. For context, I have generalized anxiety, OCD, and depression while she has borderline personality disorder, generalized anxiety, depression, and ADHD.
Long story short, she emotionally cheated on me, lied to me about another guy and her values, and manipulated me into staying with her for about half a year in late 2021 and early 2022. We were apart for half a year, then one of my friends told me to give her another chance and I did. We were on/off during this whole time and after because of the guy she was emotionally cheating on me with. She’s pretty great most of the time but has recently had random periods of being terrible.
During our time apart, she wasn't with anyone sexually or emotionally. She went on a date or two but that was all. I pursued other girls, but nothing happened.
Fast forward to January of this year, l've endured a lot of disrespect, childishness, and immaturity from her. l've basically had to show her how to be respectful in a relationship and be a decent person (she asked me to, and those are her words) despite the fact that she has been in two relationships before me and I had been in none before her.
She broke up with me in late January because I wasn't being as affectionate with her as I was during our honeymoon phase. She has borderline personality disorder (she was diagnosed in February of this year) and was having an emotional episode where her feelings overwhelmed her. Later she admitted this and said I wasn't actually doing anything worth leaving over, but that she simply wanted me to say I would touch her more rather than accepting her breaking up with me.
The day after we broke up, she began talking to a guy who hit on her last summer (I didn't know about it at the time). At the same time, she was texting me telling me she wanted to take back the breakup. I caved in after a week only to find out she met up with the guy five days after our breakup. I took her back anyway, but said she should think about it first. She said she didn't need to.
A day later, she told me she was excited about the other guy and couldn't stop thinking about him. I told her I didn't want to talk anymore. Two days later, I tried to win her back and she said she felt the same way when I told her I loved her. She said nothing happened with the other guy three times when I asked before eventually admitting that she gave him head.
I agreed to put the past behind us and gave her another chance anyway. However, over the next month, she admitted she couldn't stop thinking about the other guy and said I deserved better. She wanted to break up and while I did fight for her, I eventually just let her go.
We talked about wanting to stay together over the next day, and I eventually called her drunk saying I loved her. She said she felt the same way. I asked her if she had sex with the guy and she said that while she wasn't planning on it at the time, she impulsively decided to that morning after she started talking to him and he asked to come over.
She has reiterated over and over that that she didn't like him anymore when she did it, but that she didn't want to be alone and was being impulsive like she usually is. Also that she was excited about having sex with someone new after 2.5 years. She made him stop halfway through doing the deed and he cut ties with her after that. She said it was because she wasn't over me and started dissociating.
We've been trying to work things out. She's going to therapy for her BPD and trying to fix things with me, but everything she did hurts. She's been showering me with attention and gifts and promises to do better like she normally does after she messes up. She said she would stop the lying and betrayal, but I found out a couple of days ago that she's been lying about when she began texting the guy again after we broke up most recently. Instead of texting him the next day, she texted him less than a couple of hours after the breakup. No telling what else she's lying about.
My question is, how do I leave? She's my first love and I know she isn't a good person, but every time I try to leave, she just worms her way back into my life.
TL;DR: Ex/Situationship cheated emotionally, then a couple of years later left me for another guy twice and came back after having sex with him. She's my first love, first relationship, and many of my firsts. She is a great girlfriend most of the time but when she isn't, she's the worst. How do I leave and stay strong enough not to take her back? Or is there any way this can work out?

My journey towards my first injection of Zepbound the Friday before last started at an age earlier than I can remember. I was told that I would finish bottles twice as fast as my brother and sisters did and that was just the beginning. I can remember my first official diet at the age of 10 and can recall the allowances given by Weight Watchers to this day, 6 protein, 5 starch, 5 dairy, 3 fats, and 3 fruits, with unlimited servings of vegetables. At the time this was the accepted way of doing things and the family followed this plan together. We would calculate these portions and buy frozen meals that had these values written on the side. I never would have known that this would be the start of a lifelong battle, where I was accepted and validated while losing weight, dismissed and ridiculed when I wasn’t. In my house weight loss was looked at as a matter of willpower and my father would take me to the grocery store where we would open the bakery cabinet and breathe in the scents of the muffins, brownies, and other pastries without giving in the the temptation of eating any of them. The yo-yoing of my weight started then and continued through 5 years ago, when I was larger than ever and found my way to a weight loss clinic that restricted calories down to 800 a day before building back up over time, mostly through the use of bars and shakes, alongside a meal of protein and veggies. Just like in the past I was able to shed weight on command with a restrictive system, eventually losing 140 pounds, which brought me from 388 down to 248. This was by far the largest loss of my life, having had losses of 90, 75, and multiple losses in the 30-50 range. This time it felt different, but the binge eating at night came back every time I would get to the 250 range. Like clockwork I would creep up and the nurse practitioner would ask if I wanted to try a medication to help and instantly I would take offense and lose the 15 pounds that crept back on, realizing along the way that I needed someone to doubt me, that I needed someone to not believe in me to get back on track. Through this entire journey I had told every person involved that I would be impressed if they could help me keep myself within a 15 pound range for over a year. This method came close but it was always 15 up and 15 down, cycling nearly every other month. This epiphany was met with curiosity and I eventually was referred to a mindful nutritionist that focused on talking through my binge eating issues and removing the good vs. bad labels that I placed on each food my entire life as it relates to food. It took some time to get on their calendar and by then I had risen to 270 pounds. I started this new part of the journey barely eating any real foods and over time I incorporated foods into my life, while removing the labels associated with them. My weight crept up, but I knew this was part of the plan as I judged less and shamed myself even less. I knew this as I had taken up zen meditation over the past few years and along the way I noticed a voice in my head, that voice used my mother’s nickname for me and whenever clothes started to tighten I would hear this admonition, and then one day I realized that I was saying these shame ridden insult out loud to myself. Over the course of a year I reduced my binge eating considerably and accepted more foods into my life. I also noticed that I would often tell my children that “I couldn’t be trusted” with his food and that food and over time I stopped doing these things, both to my benefit and their’s, as the parentification wasn’t good for either of us. Despite all of this I still continued to see the numbers climb, but didn’t weigh myself and felt better than I ever had at such a high weight. As I went past the 300 mark the guilt wasn’t there and the shame was lessened to a a degree I couldn’t imagine. Along this path I believed that the more self acceptance I could show, the less shame I would feel, and in turn I would eat only one hungry, at least eventually. My weight stabilized and I thought I was in my way,but my clothes kept getting tighter, bit by bit over time. At my next physical my doctor looked at my weight and immediately went to suggesting medication. As I tried to explain my work with my nutritionist he was dismissive and kept referring to the work I was doing as being on a diet, which I had refused to do. I was incorporating all foods in my life while not binging and although I physically didn’t feel great, I was proud of the mental place I was in. It was at this time that I began a 4-5 month dialogue between my doctor and my nutritionist. Talking about my goals, fears, and everything in between. I had become comfortable in a bigger body and accepting of it, however I was starting to notice the effect on my psyche, especially at work when I had to present and speak publicly or on camera. I came to the conclusion that I just wanted to be able to exercise regularly and buy clothes at a regular store, staying at XXL sizes or below. My nutritionist was along for the ride and while she never had a patient on Zepbound her approval meant the world to me as I had my doctor place the prescription in at the pharmacy. It was another 2 months before I asked them to fill it and I eventually had it delivered and in my fridge. I had been dismissive of everyone who had bariatric surgery and other interventions, for they didn’t have the “willpower” that I had to lose weight on command. Swallowing my pride I injected myself 11 days ago not knowing what to expect. The injection instead served as admission that I was no better than anyone else and that I could accept medical intervention for something that I just couldn’t solve in any way. After the injection I experienced a profound moment where I went to the pantry prior to a Zoom panel discussion that would have 400 people on it. In this moment I realized that I always came here prior to speaking publicly, it his time was different. I realized I wasn’t hungry and I also realized that my anxiety was lessened in a way far beyond my appetite and impulses. In the 11 days since I have come to terms with the fact that I suffered from anxiety deeper than I ever knew and this new medication made that completely clear. I now move forward hoping to stay in XXL or lower, but fearful that without this medication my anxiety will come back, with my impulsive eating right behind. I then come back to the fact that I will continue the meditation practice, exercise routine, and self acceptance tools that I’ve worked on diligently over the years to guide my path. I don’t know where this journey will take me, but I am glad that I was able to share this publicly for the first time here on Reddit

I'm a long-time player who joined before the NG+ update. I had every perk by then and I played till my fifth NG+, cleared out the Orc Horde on Impossible then stopped for about a year before coming back with the new wave of updates - I've obtained every encounter-related achievement now and my achievement completion is at 97%, while my NG+ bonus is +1311% caps and +131,1% all resources.
These are my thoughts on what prestiges (or "legacy perks") are the best.
S Tier:

• Architecture of Titans - This building singlehandedly takes care of your wood and stone needs - including caps! - and also provides a dramatic output of tools, copper and iron. It's completely worth the 60 fame and a satisfying reward for beating one of the lategame bosses.
  
• Ministry of Interior - Like the Titan Work Area, but for gold and research. And it comes with extra population and supplies, as well as crystals indirectly through the extra professors. Only caveat is that it costs materials and supplies to build.
  
• Guild of Craftsmen - A must for the earlygame when the production of tier 2 resources is directly competing with your tier 1. It will fall off for the individual tier 2 buildings later on but it's still the first building you want to go for whenever you unlock the feudal age.
  
• Craftsmen - Tier 2 resources will be one of your main bottlenecks throughout the game, and these perks provide bigger and bigger boosts to them. After Craftsmen III it stops boosting tier 2 to instead boost natronite and saltpeter, which is less crucial to have.
  
• Shopkeepers and Breeders - This boosts tools, cows and horses. While the latter two are nice to have for extra money at the market in a pinch, it's tool production that puts this perk above other resource multipliers like Enhanced Axes and Irrigation Techniques. Tools will be a recurring bottleneck from the early game all the way to the lategame, and it's always a good idea to get more.
  
• Deep Pockets - We're here to remind you about possibly life's greatest joy of all: MONEY!
  

A Tier:

• Machines of Gods - Like a lite version of Titan Workshop focusing exclusively on tools, copper and iron. It's unlocked later and is less cost efficient, but certainly helps.
  
• Powered Weapons - This buffs your units starting from primitive spearmen all the way to artillery and line infantry. The early perks are the most important to get as they make your cheap, easy to spam units all the more effective.
  
• Enhanced Axes, Irrigation Techniques, Renowned Stonemasons - These are the best way to boost your base resources until you can afford deep runs and beat the Sleeping Titan. Worth noting that Enhanced Axes and Renowned Stonemasons lead to Woodworking and Stonemasons, whereas Grain Storage is already unlocked at the start.
  
• Regional Market - MONEY! You can think of these as a second bank. Probably the best use for your first coin.
  
• Resource Caps - These are vital for early afk play. This line starts weak but gets stronger and stronger. It synergizes greatly with the NG+ plus bonus, though said bonus also means you can just take the boosted caps from base buildings and make do without this perk. Though it should remain very relevant in your first few NG+ runs.
  
• Ministry of War, Ministry of Worship - Both of these greatly simplify core aspects of the game, army and magic respectively, with extra army cap, food cap, faith and mana. Ministry of War turns arquebusiers into one of the best units in the game, and Ministry of Worship grants extra lucky stones, and both of them come with extra jobs and population. The reason they aren't S tier is that in the lategame you can get enough army cap to clear every encounter (at least on normal) and enough mana to have all spells turned on even without these ministries, whereas the extra research and gold always stays paramount.
  
• Clever Villagers - The thing with research output is that it's not your main limiter until it is. When you have the other resources' production down, make sure to not neglect this perk.
  
• Library of Theresmore - This provides a nice boost to most ancient era resources. With 5 of these libraries you have a +10% bonus, which would've cost way more in fame if you were getting all the various Enhanced Axes, Deep Pockets, Strengthening Faith, etc. and you can comfortably afford up to 10 libraries.
  
• Monastic Orders - I agree with u/AGDude's description that "all of the boosts it provides make life just a little bit easier". It also has a lenient price scaling.
  
• Strengthening Faith - This lets you produce more mana and faith which lets you unlock spells faster. Affording an extra spell can be as good as affording an extra perk, or better. It's also a must if you like using Battle Angels or rely on Zenix Familiars.
  

B tier:

• Zenix Familiar - These are cheap, immortal scouts who cannot discover new nations and run on mana rather than gold or supplies. And they give you research. The fact they cannot discover civilizations may seem like a drawback at first, but it also means no splash screen will pop up and block your autoclicker if you've left that on the explore button (there's some exceptions, like the Forest of Markanat and the Demoness Castle).
  
• Hall of Wisdom - More or less like an extra school. Handy although Machines of Gods is a better use for your first Tome of Wisdom.
  
• Stock Resources - These are the equivalent of a few houses, farms and lumberjacks for free at start, which is an appreciated boost.
  
• Gift of Nature, Gift of the Creators - Also a small initial boost, this time in direct production. Lets you get a few buildings up faster.
  
• Rampart - Another good use for a coin. It's like a second wall that costs more but gives you extra fame every run.
  
• Enhanced Pickaxes - I find copper to never be a bottleneck and for iron to very rarely be, but it's handy to invest some points into these, especially if your army strategy is to spam warriors and heavy warriors.
  
• Fortune Teller, Soothsayer, etc. (Lucky Stone perks) - Nice to have, particularly if your strategy relies on getting that extra upgrade from luck buildings.
  
• Ancient Vault - A multi-purpose storage which unlike the rest of the category also raises your gold, research, faith and mana cap. Building 14 of them is fairly affordable and equals getting Ancient Treasury I and II + Service to Gods I and II.
  
• Ancient Treasury - Extra gold cap can be hard to come by in the early game. That said you will mainly rely on vaults and natronite buildings to get the cap high enough for the coin.
  
• Grain Storage, Stonemason, Woodworking - Grain Storage is good in the very early game where every bit of extra food counts - whether it's to send out more attacks, or to free up one worker from food production to something else. I find Stonemason and Woodworking to not be worth bothering with, as at my current NG+ level I can reach Architecture of Titans in fewer runs than it takes to unlock them, but they aren't bad per se.
  
• Elysian Field - This helps militarily even if you don't rely on Battle Angels. It's one of the few ways to significantly raise the food cap, and more stockpiled food means you can send the army out to attack more times per sitting. Besides that they have a niche use in getting the achievement for 15 Altars of Sacrifices, but that's very late game.
  
• Titanic Walls - These walls give you extra fame and - surprisingly - tier 2 resources. But due to how costly they are it's less of a "I must get this immediately" and more of a "When I'm already swimming in tier 2 resouces and fame, I can build these to get even more"
  
• Militia Recruitment - Like a second, more cost-efficient barracks with some added settlement defense.
  
• Free Hands - An average pick, not as good as others. You're better off boosting population through the various buildings you unlock progressing the game.
  
• Army of Men - Also average. The late perks are very powerful and they can help squeeze in just enough soldiers for a tough lategame boss on higher difficulties, but most encounters do not come down to ten extra soldiers and even when they do it's usually a problem of recruitment cost and upkeep rather than army caps.
  
• Battle Angel, Seraphim - Some people swear by them but I don't use these much as early game I have other uses for faith and mana and lategame they fall behind other units. It's pretty fun to summon a battle angel just to clear a cellar full of rats, though.
  

C tier:

• Monument, Heirlooms - A basically-free building at start with some minor assorted bonuses. The bonuses aren't very impactful, despite being costlier than Stock Resources and Gift of Nature, but I like to get one every reset because they need to be unlocked one at a time, so I can have the full collection when it's time for the next NG+.
  
• Service to Gods - Extra faith and mana cap doesn't do much besides affording you an extra level of the Fortune Grove (but you can just get the Fortune Teller line). It's pretty satisfying to clear the Mausoleum of Gods in one, two clicks on faith and mana though.
  
• Charism - I haven't done the actual math and whether at some point a boost to fame might be more efficient than getting the other perks to achieve faster runs, but I only grab this perk when I have fame to spare or have already bought the higher tiers.
  
• Hall of the Dead - Extra population would be handy but this building scales terribly, especially in the tool cost. It's worth to build a few, but you get far more value out of ministries, where population isn't even the main selling point.
  
• Undead Herds - Unless you like cavalry or are trying to get the 15 Altars of Sacrifices achievement, this is not that useful besides for freeing up some workers from the breeder job.
  
• Strong Workers - I hardly ever bother with resource clicking beyond my very first run. There may be some strats that involve building up a stockpile of stone, wood and food during the ancient era before researching feudalism (which removes the buttons), but in my experience in Theresmore the best use for an autoclicker is clicking 15 times on the wall button until it's built.
  
• Spikes and Pits - Uuuuh... neat to have? The best way to deal with enemy nations is by taking them out before they can even attack, and building an army strong enough to pass the age bosses is best done through the other perks. The later upgrades cost relics and buff the Juggernaut.
  
• Shieldbearer, Priest, Juggernaut, Ancient Balor - I never use tanks as the unit's purpose seems sorta defeated. They are meant to be low-attack, high defense frontliners but they are weak to shock which is the most damaging unit type and is very common amongst encounters. Shoutout to Ancient Balor for producing steel and helping me clear out the Orc Horde Assault on Deity, and Religious Colony-boosted Priests are hilarious.
  
• Coin Mercenary, White Company- Mercenaries cost only gold and die before the rest of the shock units. Canava Guard are slightly tankier (but still shock) mercenaries, White Company are offense-focused ranged units. They can accrue a respectable amount of boosts if you get all the Mercenary Agreements perks, but there are better uses for your gold, coins and fame. With that said, if you have Coin Mercenary and White Company you unlock the perk to recruit Cpt Gallard (who gives you gold) and after that you get another perk which unlocks a questline with a new building and new encounters.
  

D Tier:

• Mercenary Agreements - I just don't bother with these unless I'm trying to 100% the perk list. Mercenaries are simply too costly for me to consider.

F tier:

• Weapons of the Titan - Compared to the other titans upgrades it's a complete waste of 60 fame points. The units it boosts aren't my cup of tea for the endgame, either, as crossbowmen and heavy infantry outclass arquebusiers and men at arms once you defeat Nikharul and rebuild the fortress.

Hey! Hope you're doing well. It seemed like a good idea posting here and my gut is mostly right!
I'm a 23 y/o guy from Ontario, Canada. Currently, I am working at an office here doing some more basic legal work. On the side, I am trying to start my own practice, as I am licensed to practice law here. So I am very passionate about that and the law in general. Particularly with Human Rights and the many issues that renting tenants deal with here. (In fact, I was actually at a hearing representing a client today!).
For reference, I am 6'0", white, wear glasses, 230lbs, shorter-medium jet-black hair, and have brown eyes. Have photos available as well!
Recently, I've been keeping pretty active. Been losing weight like crazy and I have a simple diet that I stick to. So a decent amount of time is spent being active and working.
Besides that, I love to cook. I cook almost every day and I would like to think that I'm pretty good at it. I just BBQ'd some ribs on the weekend that I would love to show you 😩
I am also really into video games. Mostly whatever I can get into after work. Recently its been a lot of Balatro and WoW. I would also love to try other games with someone else. I love most types of games.
Also completely obsessed with music. I play guitar and have been trying to teach myself piano. Love most types of music and recently I have been listening to a lot of MF DOOM and Madlib beat tapes, along with Kate Bush, Leonard Cohen, and more. Could go on forever about most music haha.
Also enjoy reading pretty often, baking, and currently growing basil and chili peppers. I am also studying/learning Korean if that's at all relevant.

I just recently started watching dance moms (I started watching the season when Jojo joined) and honestly my heart has been breaking for Nia… it must have been so tough to be the only black girl and even I as a white woman have picked up on the racism and micro aggressions - especially when Nia keeps being put in dances where she is the “bad and evil person” like the one with Mackenzie were Nia is supposed to portray a girl who pretends to be her friend but who is secretly jealous of Kenzie and evil and tries to backstab her. Of course the “angry black Woman” has been a racist trope for ages, and it sucks how they reiterated it on Dance Moms. And also the fact that Abby always made it a point to say how Nia isn’t as good as the rest, has never been called beautiful, etc.
It really broke my heart and I don’t understand how Holly, who appears to be smart, educated and hard working, continued to keep Nia in that environment. If I was her I would have taken her out in a heart beat. I wouldn’t have been ok with my daughter keep being put down like that. Curious to see what everyone else’s thoughts are on this and/or if they know why Holly stayed around for so long?

Alright, so long time member of reddit since the good old days, first time posting. So this morning, while attempting to unlock a phone linked to my live in girlfriend, ended up in one of what looked like many message threads that involved what most would describe as a honeypot(not sure if this is the correct terminology) essentially what looked to me like ~10 different threads with men going back and forth flirting very sexually, with the first one finding the most explicit of the content, full nudes of her, as well as plenty of non naked pictures sent to these males, most of which I have to assume that she has indeed met in person, due to the fact that she often will disappear with my vehicle to go to the casino(she never tells me this, always excuses that she is actually not at the casino, generally lying pretty badly as I am not stupid and have been in a relationship with a frequent cheater before.) Full disclosure, it is not like I completely made a real stand against this type of thing, and in fact before at one point I was complicit and gave her a picture that I had received from a female that was essentially an ass shot with lace panties on. This fact had made me I guess just assume that the boundary was set that I would most likely not be ok with this type of thing happening with real pictures of her, although that conversation was not really ever had. So now while I am a firm believer of the fact where if you feel the need to go through your significant others phone at all, the two of you should not be together in the first place. Therefore in the multiple years we have been together (admittedly, the relationship was fairly casual at some points, and some people had referred to her as my dog watcher in the past. Even I was someone who made some comments in this vein but this was many years ago now.) Generally it would go in a cycle of becoming more serious, then her doing something such as taking the car to get groceries, but disappearing for days. This fact being a serious red flag and not to mention that I basically have PTSD from my previous ex taking my vehicle to go have sex with and seemingly short(?) relationships with other dudes, which I had most definitely disclosed to her many, many times, which was a fact that was most definitely ignored, and had zero effect on her actions. It would seem a lot of the time that when things would get more serious between us, shortly after there would be something in which I would feel as a betrayal, and once again things would become more casual. That being said, I am certainly guilty of talking to other females, such as my ex, during these times. So, all of these facts, leads me to today, where I am feeling like this should be the much needed end to a series of events filled with a lack of honesty, and a general disregard on her side for my boundaries, that I have made sure to communicate. She is of course taking the stance that since I knew that she got money from guys, that I should have basically known and put two and two together. While I had definitely kept that thought in my mind, I was basically just trying to trust her and thinking that maybe she is just really good at talking, or maybe using other girls pics like the time I gave her the pic to get money from the one guy. Now, as for physical interactions, it is up in the air as I was pretty disgusted by what I saw and didn't feel like reading every word in every thread in order to see if anything physical had actually happened. There had been a recent attempt by an old acquaintance of mine to basically come onto her in I assume his car at the casino and she said she denied him completely, and that was at least corroborated by a mutual friend that I had ask the guy in a way that he wouldn't lie. On top of all of this, she has been without a job for ~6 months now and money is very tight. The money she got from these guys has in no way been disclosed to me or shared with me, while as I am currently a full time student (wasted 7 years of my life homeless and using drugs, currently recovering addict, same as her, except when we started living together she was still using.) . I was wanting to kick her out and move on when she began disappearing with my vehicle, just due to the fact that I communicated so many times what my ex had done, and how this would affect me. Basically to this day I have to more or less physically keep the car keys from her, or else she will disappear to the casino. So, my fellow redditors, is this a dumpster fire that should have ended years ago like I truly believe, or was the fact that she had gotten money from guys in the past and I was "ok" with it (with her definitely knowing that I would never be okay with her doing anything with them, just never specifically talked about the sending of explicit pics that are actually her.) She says the pics are like 5 years old and is taking the stance that that makes it better in some way and that she has never cheated on me. Sorry about the long and complicated backstory, and we have been more or less together for 4 years now.
TL:DR Girlfriend who I knew received money from males, turns out was sending nudes and overall going way further than I know for a fact that she knew I would not be okay with this, at all, this also being proven by the fact that in a similar past situation, I gave her a picture I had received in the past of a different girl, to satiate the guy, to receive money.
Also sorry about the formatting and kind of just vomit of text, my headspace is not great right now as I have also been up all night working on homework, to then now find this all in the early morning. Thanks in advance reddit. As a user of this site since its infancy, I decided that you scholarly gentlemen would be able to diagnose this situation much better than I would. Should this be over, as I truly believe, or have I just been naive and have too high of expectations?

A few weeks ago I requested help prepping a DCC hexcrawl and received a lot of excellent suggestions. To that list I'd like to add this great youtube guide which goes into the nuts and bolts of running a hexcrawl in a simple and matter-of-fact way.
u/CurrencyOpposite704 suggested I check out the hexanomicon, which was an excellent idea, in more ways than one. I'd been searching for inspiration for a loosely connected campaign. Which I found on the title page of the hexanomicon, which features a giant 'island turtle'.
The idea is that the party is shipwrecked on a large island that is much more than it seems. The island is a turtle-shaped vessel--a titan--built eons ago by a long-vanished race in order to traverse the astral seas, or whatever. When the party first lands, they have no idea that the island is anything other than what it seems. Centuries have passed; the surface of the island appears completely nature. Exploring the island, particularly the dungeons deep beneath it, will reveal the mechanical heart of the island, and thus repair it, if they choose to do so.
Of course, they aren't the only inhabitants of the island. They won't be the only ones trying to get control of it.
A quick image search led to this map, which works for me. I ran it through gimp and overlayed it with a hex pattern, and now I'm good to go.
I've already run the party through Starless Sea, which was awesome and really set the tone. I'm going to have them wash ashore in the inlet on the southern side of the island, with a path leading up from the shore to the east side of the inlet.
I'd like to seed the island with some adventures. From the small beach on the inlet is a path that winds up the cliff. At the top of the cliff is a painted sign that points north and south. The sign is a warning. North is death and south is not death.
South leads to the village of Hirot and the Doom of the Savage Kings adventure. Once the village is saved the party can use it as a base of operations to explore the island. North I'm not sure about yet, but I'm imagining that something dangerous lives in the swamp north of the inlet.
There are several other points of interest on the map I'd like to get some input on. There are the mountains east of the inlet. The scarred area NW of the inlet screams 'chaos' to me. What's going on it those chasms that seems to be killing the surrounding flora? Whatever it is is probably corrupting the wildlife and poisoning the swamp.
In the NE corner is a large swampy area. I'm considering setting Moon Slaves there, or perhaps even in the swampy area closer to the inlet. Really, I'm open to ideas, though generally I'd like the danger, and thus the level, to increase as the party ventures north.
Finally--and this is the part I really need help with--there is the mystery at the heart of the island. The large mountain chain near the center of the island contains the entrance to a dungeon that leads to the control center of the titan. The control center is guarded by sentient AI, constructs, clockwork guardians, and things of that nature. Perhaps corrupted over time. One idea is that the Patrons/Deities of this island are all different and conflicting personalities of the same fractured AI overmind. The keys to this dungeon are scattered about the island, encouraging exploration and making it so the party can't access the dungeon until the island has been fully explored.
Any suggestions with the control dungeon would be greatly appreciated. Once the party explores the surface and conquers the main dungeon, they gain full access to the titan. The campaign ends with them sailing off on the cosmic seas to future adventure.

Tbh, they were in 6-7yrs of relationship and have tons of pics together, and i respect that. But it does make me feel uncomfortable so i shared my feelings with him once. He also agreed that he wont feel good if i have my pics with guys/ exes, he said he understands my pov and will delete photos. We had ldr, he fly here to see me once in every 2-3 weeks. So before he came this time, i asked and he said he alr deleted but its too much so maybe theres also few pics left that he cant control-he said i can check. I value transparency or honesty, if he cant do it, he just tells me, maybe we can find way to work out with this, but the fact he said he did, and deleted 90% which is only about 5%, thats a lie while he will not be okay if i keep pics with other guys… so i ask if he wanna delete the pics or i will delete him, and he acted really didnt care, so i bye him in 1 second. Did i react too much ? I ask for my future relationship.

I plan to elucidate a lot of material in this group, because a lot of the attacks revolve around the character of "pedophile" Mohammad, but few are aware of the historicity of the rest of the characters in the fantasy cult of Islam.
Aisha is one such character. In my day to day life as a pretentious Shia Muslim, I curse this nonexistent character all day long. (The Shia version of Islam, in contrast to the Sunni version, reveres different characters from Islamic history, and hates a certain set of them), but in my Ex-Muslim mind, when I'm alone, I know that just as is the case with Mohammad himself, Aisha did not ever actually exist either. As I've continued to say, a lot of the fairytales of Islam are amalgamations from various different sources that existed before, during, and after the creation of Islam concocted into a cult of religion.
Noteworthy hatred that Shias have for this character includes the fact that IF Mohammad actually existed, he is regarded as a pedophile by the rest of the world through HER narrations.
But one thing that strikes me in particular about this fairytale character, is an Islamic battle, known as "the battle of the camel." In that battle, according to the myth of Islamic history, Aisha was riding a red camel, and was leading an army against Ali Ibn Abi Talib, a very legendary Islamic character that I plan to deconstruct later on.
In the Shia world, Aisha is regarded as a whore. To backup this claim, Shias cite several Ahadith from Sihah al-Sittah (the 6 Sahih sunni works of Ahadith), from her narrations about breastfeeding men, to her narrations about cleaning cum, to her narrations about a man sleeping over at her place and then washing cum off his clothes the next day, to a lot of other sexual Ahadith that she has narrated in the Sunni works of Ahadith.
A nickname that the mythical prophet of Islam gave to his mythical wife, Aisha, is "Homayra." Which simply means "the Little Scarlet/Red One."
In the case of Aisha, we have 3 things to note: 1. Red Camel 2. Whore of Arabia 3. Homayra (Scarlet/Red)
The book of revelations in the Bible extensively talks about the whore of Babylon, along with other passages in throughout the Bible. The whore of Babylon used to ride a scarlet beast, and she is oftend depicted in red dresses, etc.
In the case of the whore of Babylon, we have 3 things: 1. Red beast 2. Whore of Babylon 3. Red dresses
It is interesting to see that when the Abbasid Islamists were creating their fairytale Islamic religion, where they got their plentiful sources of inspiration from. Neither did Mohammad himself, nor did any of his friends, wives, or enemies ever actually existed.
While other ex-Muslims are using the Sihah al-Sittah and the Quran to create a picture of Mohammad in their heads as a barbaric pedophile mass murderer, and then proceeding to denounce his religion; I am arguing that all of it is fake and a fabrication of later generations, who were simply writing stories. Through government coercion and political support, these stories were later used to create a full fledge cult that was shoved down people's throats through several centuries of propaganda.

I have opted for switches rather than bulbs for many applications because of the amount of lightbulbs in a room or just the fact that people turn the switch off. I have a few Wemo dimmers throughout the house and one Kasa switch and ~10 Hue bulbs. I am looking to try to replace and add some switches for lights, exhaust fans, etc. I am looking for advice because I am stuck between buying some cheap Kasa switches or buying z-wave or zigbee switches. I am running home assistant as my main platform.
My conundrum isn't necessarily price as I can get some zooz switches for a relatively good price; just a few bucks more than some Kasa ones. I really want to make sure I am future proofed as much as can be in the project. I have heard that Z-Wave may be on it's way out with Zigee and MatteThread, but I don't know how true this is. I have decent UniFi WiFi, but I am concerned if I add 25 more devices, I could start seeing issues. My Wemo mini smart plugs already cannot stay connected for more the 5 minues, but that appears to be an issue with just them, but this is the type of thing that worries me about going all WiFi.
What switches do you guys recommend for Z-Wave or Zigbee? Do any of you guys have fully WiFi based smart homes and if so, what do you use and what has your experience been?

I am setting up a new viv for a dart frog pair and I’ve been putting more focus on making it a setup where isopods can thrive as well. I think it would be awesome to see them thriving in something other than a plastic shoebox, but so far I haven’t had much luck (other than a porcellio oreo crumble colony in an otherwise uninhabited setup).
Specifically, I want to go for something a cubaris colony could live in. I found a seller near me that offers one of my all time favorites, ‘glacier’ cubaris murina, in large quantities for really cheap. The care regiment I’ve read for them also aligns well with the conditions that the frogs need, so I think it would work out (although I’m aware not everything that looks good on paper works well in practice.)
My substrate consists of the following: peat moss, long fiber sphagnum moss, tree fern fiber, soil, play sand, coco fiber, orchid bark, rotten oak wood, rotten aspen wood, rotten bark, crushed oak, ginkgo, willow and maple leaves, coconut husk, worm castings, lichens, beneficial fungi and bacteria inoculant, mushroom compost, carbon, eggshells, charcoal, crushed limestone and various other small things like apple wood sticks and spray millet. The leaf litter layer consists of oak, willow, ginkgo and some magnolia leaves.
On the surface I also provide enrichment in the form of mopani wood to hide under, various pods, acorn tops, alder cones, limestone chunks and moss.
Temps stay around 69F at least to 78F at most. Humidity is really high, 85% at minimum but usually higher. It gets regularly misted, 2-3 times daily but never enough to completely soak the substrate. There’s also a fan in there for proper air circulation.
Some potential hazards I fear are that A). they could possibly get stuck in the (albeit very shallow) water bowl I have in there and drown. B). There’s a chance the frogs could eat them (although unlikely… they refuse to eat anything more than 1/8th of an inch.) and C). The fact that I have no prior experience with this species means I could be doing something completely wrong, and potentially kill off some very awesome pods because of my own negligence.
So I’d like some input before I go for it. Tips, things I could change, anything. If you’ve had experience keeping cubaris in a vivarium environment I’d especially love to hear your thoughts.
