In my office, we all have cordless phones connected to analog lines. My problem is that if I move too far from the cordless base, I lose signal and miss calls. I was thinking of connecting the office landline (which comes from an old analog PBX) to a Raspberry Pi and forwarding calls to my mobile through VoIP if I don't respond after a certain time. I plan to expose the Raspberry Pi to the internet via Tailscale Funnel or via VPN through my home since I can't open ports on the firewall at work. Do you have any experiences with this? How do I connect the landline to the Raspberry Pi?
Also, I am looking for a cheap solution (around 30-40€, excluding the Raspberry Pi since I have 1 or 2 lying around).

Throwaway. I'm going to sound like a psycho here and I understand that. I truly wish I wasn't acting like this right now but I can't shake it.
My husband and I have a 8mo daughter and when I was around 4 months pregnant, he started going out A LOT. He got really close to a guy he worked with and it went from 0 to 100 so quickly that it made my head spin. Prior to meeting this guy my husband only went out maybe once a month but after getting close to this guy, he was going over to this guy's house practically every day for a couple hours after work and then going over there again every weekend just about. At first I was invited, but I'm an introvert so going over to this guy's house constantly was severely destroying my mental health because I never had time to recharge; and frankly, I was tired of being around him and my husband because they would just get drunk and it wasn't fun for me. I have not been invited at all since I was like 7 months pregnant, I think.
I could look past most of what I listed above but there's more to it.. a couple months ago things started really becoming a problem. He would hang out with this guy after work, come home and jump on video games WITH this guy and just sit on the game until he got ready to go to bed. This lasted pretty much all winter. He was still hanging out with him almost every Friday and Saturday. The only time it changed was when I absolutely lost my shit because he wasn't spending any time with me at all. He would hang out with the baby but him and I just never talked anymore unless he was trying to get me to sleep with him. I brought it up to him a lot. If I was calm, he was receptive and would apologize. But if I was angry because I was tired of repeating myself, he would freak out and say things like "I work all the time" or "no one asked me how the fuck I felt after you gave birth" (because I said I was depressed and isolated). He would later apologize for flipping out but I guess it just started destroying me little by little and I just shut down and stopped talking to him at all.
But here's the problem.. the last time I absolutely flipped out, I didn't give him a chance to speak. I just started packing me and the babies stuff. He got better for awhile. Didn't go out for like 3 weeks. Stopped spending any more than an hour on video games. Started hanging out with me and the baby as much as possible. But then he downloaded Snapchat not too long ago, saying he wanted to use the filters on the baby (because I do that) but his snap score keeps going up? Even if we haven't used it to talk to each other for days. He's started going out again. The other day we had a fire and he hung out with his buddies wife the entire time (like 4 hours) but barely spoke to me. He "had to work" on Mother's Day but Sundays his work is closed (he said they had a delivery which COULD be possible, as those are always scheduled for weekends). So... I did the unthinkable and went through his phone when he was sleeping. I didn't find much, outside of blocked numbers (he never blocks numbers). There was 2 on there. I took a picture of them. The next night, I checked again and the numbers were switched positions (like he had unblocked them and then reblocked them in a different order). I called one of the numbers private and it was a woman. I called the other one but they didn't accept private calls. I told my husband what I did and said that I am feeling incredibly untrusting at this point. He was not mad that I went through his phone and said that he has no idea who's numbers were on the blocked list or why they switched positions (he said he had been getting calls for someone else awhile ago so maybe he blocked them and doesn't remember but it doesn't say when they were blocked so maybe that's the truth) and that his snap score keeps going up from viewing public stories. He's bothered that I don't trust him but I don't know anymore? Am I wrong?
ETA: just a quick add here, my husband is actually a very loving man to me and it does seem like he's actively trying to include me and be more available. I love him to death as well. But something feels ... wrong? And he's very intelligent when it comes to technology so he would know how to delete stuff so I couldn't see it. I have a problem with my new Ultra Mobile line. I'm in Argentina, using the service here and decided to test it with my Us number. I called my dad from that number, but on my dad's iPhone caller ID, it shows that I'm calling from a different number than the US one (it shows an Argentine number) and indicates that it's SPAM. Then I tried with my mother's phone and the same happened.
Any ideas to fix this and why do this strange issue happen?

Before late 2023, I used to listen to music on Spotify like 8-10 hours everyday. But after 2024, I've started using YouTube instead due to how bad Spotify has gotten over the years.
The most noticeable difference is the ads. God, I've hated the ads ever since I've started using Spotify, but it is only getting worse. Nowadays, you get increasingly more ads on Spotify, 1 ad per 2-3 songs. And every single one of them is a goddamn 30 seconds long ear-rape about craps that I don't even care about. It's even worse on mobile when most of the time, you get two of them back to back every time you have an ad break. On YouTube, you get a lot less ads, about one every 3-7 videos. They sound a lot easier on the ears, and half of the time it's about things that I do know or do care about, and they are skippable after 3-5 seconds, otherwise, they last for about 10 seconds at most.
Next up, the utilities. Yeah, yeah, there is almost no difference regarding this on PC. But it's really bad on mobile. On Spotify, you can't loop playlists, you can't loop a single song, you can't do normal listening and forced to be in a shuffle with bad algorithm, and you can't listen to your playlist again when it has ended, which is extra irritating when your playlist is short (i.e. about 10-15 songs). Hell you can't even skip more than like, what? 6 times per hour? While all of this is completely available for free on YouTube. And recently, they've removed the ability to see the lyrics for Spotify Free. Sure, YouTube never has built-in lyrics, but many videos still have lyrics enabled through the video itself or through subtitles. Or you can take a bit more time and see the lyrics in the video's description or in the comment section.
And what's better than an unsatisfying listening session on mobile due to being forced to use bad-algorithm'ed-shuffle? Yeah, that's right. Bad recommendations. After you're done listen to all of the songs in your playlist, you are usually forced to recommended songs that Spotify thought to be "similar" to the songs in your playlist. Half of the time, they are bad, just bad. And you thought that the "-" button in the bottom would work to make songs and/or artists like that appear less on your recommendations, right? Well then, screw yourself because it does not. You still get the same crappy song and artist, it doesn't matter how many times you try pressing that "-", nothing changes at all, at least until you remove the so called "similar" song in your playlist. I especially had this issue when I had the song "Christmas Truce" by Sabaton in my playlist. When the recommendations come, half of them is filled with really bad "epic"-Christmas-rock/metal songs from that one random band that I don't even know about. And it just keep on appearing no matter how many times I skipped that song or pressed the "-" button.
Maybe, you thought that using Spotify would be easier on your battery and internet because it only runs in the background, especially when your phone is screen off, and only uses audio, right? Well, my experience completely contradicts that. For mobile, many times on my 15-minutes listening sessions while only having Spotify running and the screen is completely off. Spotify would consume up to 5% of battery. That's 1% every 3 minutes, comparable to the game Honkai: Star Rail, which uses 1% every 2.5 minutes. And Honkai: Star Rail has many CPU and GPU-intensive processes for game calculations, assets loading, graphics and audio going on. Meanwhile, if I only has YouTube running on 240p, the video minimized and the screen brightness is set to lowest, it would take YouTube from 1 hour to 1.5 hours to consume the same 5%. That is a 300% to 500% difference in efficiency. And the audio quality of Spotify bares almost no difference to that of a 240p YouTube video. The situation is almost no different on PC. On the low-end laptop that I usually use, when YouTube is in the background, YouTube would use 0.5% CPU and about 250 MB RAM through out the listening session thank to sleeping tab feature on browsers, compared to Spotify 1-3% CPU and 250 MB RAM. The difference is almost ignorable most of the time, but it's really noticeable when I'm using resource-heavy apps. I gain about 15-20 FPS, or 30-50% increase when having YouTube sleeping instead of having Spotify in the background. Especially when the next song or ad break comes in, YouTube would have absolutely no problem handling this and the laptop would still run smoothly, but Spotify CPU consumption would just suddenly jump up to 10-25% on top of the already high resource consumption of resource-heavy apps and completely lags the crap out of whatever I'm doing for 2-8 seconds, which is extremely irritating. I once thought that Spotify would use less internet as it only uses audio, which it does, but not much at all. On 240p, which has comparable audio quality to that of Spotify, YouTube would use only about 1-5% more data than Spotify. As a 240p video isn't actually that much. And the advertisements on Spotify actually consumes a lot of data.
You do have to tell YouTube that you still want to continue listening at times or use split screen on mobile if you want to listen while doing something else. But it's worth the trouble for me.
Please note that this is only about YouTube and not YouTube Music.

One of my buddies that I’ve been doing some testing for has asked if I have a way of getting into mobile IOS devices (specifically iPhone 12-15s) as they’re his company device of choice.
Been playing around and I’m really liking the level of access that Seashell gives gives in terms of being able to get down into the file system of the device, however for real world testing it’s not super practical given you need physical accsess to the devices to be able to install the app loader to get the app onto the phone. I have tried to get the app onto the phone using some basic social engineering stuff with beef with not much luck as without the boot loader the app can’t be signed. This leads me to my other gripe with Seashell, the fact it has to install an app, making it quite hard to stay unnoticed and inject in the first place.
All my testing so far has been done locally within my learning environment on one of my personal devices, but I’m hoping to be able to deploy this to my working environment as soon as possible. Currently I’m running kali as my distro of choice.
So, with that I throw it over to you smarter people. Does anyone know any better methods to getting into IOS than this? Would something as simple as ssh work?

Hello guys. I recently switched from galaxy s10+ to the note 20 ultra in late April this year. I used the smart switch to transfer over settings and apps.
Tldr- note 20 ultra blazing through mobile hotspot. Mobile data slowed to .5mbps when using vpn.
My problem is the phone used 100gb of mobile hotspot in about 10 days and, my data when connected to vpn, goes from 50-150mbps down to .5 maps.
I never had this problem with my s10+ and I have used nordvpn for years now. My old phone would use about 40gb of hotspot in one month. And, my data on vpn was always about 15mbps.
The only big difference between phones (that I know of) is it uses an esim instead of a physical sim, and the 20 ultra has 5g as the s10+ didnt. Same number, same phone plan, same routines.
So far I have tried: removing anti-virus apps, different vpn subscriptions and free vpn, cleared cache partition, fully updated software and apps, getting new esim, reset network settings, turned off 5g, deleting vpn profiles, Uninstalled vpn and reinstall, different vpn servers.
Any ideas, or can I just not use the vpn and expect average data speeds anymore?

Getting an iPhone in India is basically a huge deal for an individual. It involves a lot of financial planning and timing to get the latest iPhone. I come from a middle-class Indian family and I am no different. When Apple released the iPhone 14 Pro series with the Dynamic Island, I was really into it. But, working as a tech writer and having the knowledge that Apple would add the same to the lower-end iPhone 15 models, I waited a year, and Apple did add the Dynamic Island to the lower-end iPhone models in 2023.
As I was already planning to get the iPhone 15, I had saved for it. Hence, without a second thought, I got the device in October 2023. It was a blue iPhone 15 and it was a big deal for me!
Fast forward to February 2024, I was going on a planned trip to Kasol with my friends. We had to catch a train from Sealdah, Kolkata, and to get there, we planned to take a local train to Sealdah station. So, we got to our nearest local station and were waiting for the train. During that whole waiting time, a person was standing right next to us and was fiddling with his phone but also giving questionable looks to us.
The train finally came and if you are an Indian, you would know the amount of struggle that one needs to go through to get on a packed local train. We all had rucksack backpacks and went through the struggling ordeal to simply get on the train. That was not all! During the whole ride, I could not move anywhere or any body part due to the sheer amount of people surrounding me.
When we reached Sealdah, our final station, I got down with my friends. Then, my mother called my girlfriend's phone to check on us and told her that she could not call me as my phone was switched off. I thought that my phone was not switched off and should be right in my pocket. I went on to check my pocket only to find out that it was gone! It most probably was the guy who was giving the looks to us when we were waiting for the train.
Naturally, I started panicking big time and went straight to the Railway Police station nearby to report it. By the time we filed a report, our main train left the station and as a result, our entire trip was canceled. Without a phone in my hand and after having a dreadful day, I went back home.

Now, as my girlfriend also had an iPhone 11 and was a part of the Apple Family plan, I used it to put the stolen iPhone 15 in Lost Mode via the Find My app. I checked the location of the phone in Find My and it showed a station that falls between our local station and Sealdah.
My aunt is in the police force, so I informed her about the stolen device. She told me that as it is an iPhone, it would be difficult to locate its position. However, she got the IMEI slots of the device blocked and said that if anyone puts a SIM card in it and tries to use it, the device will be marked. Only then the police could locate the user and grab him.
I knew that no one would be able to unlock it and put a SIM to use it. Apple has some great security features that prevent thieves from accessing personal information stored in an iPhone. Hence, I was sure that he would never be able to unlock or reset the device.
Someone once told me that stolen mobile devices are taken to Bangladesh and sold in black markets. If the mobile devices are locked, they even open up the parts and sell them individually.
Days went by and there were no updates about the phone, neither from the police nor from Find My. As I work with iPhones and as it was so dear to me, I broke an FD to get another iPhone 15 in the meantime. I also closed the EMI for the previous device with the same and accepted the situation.
Now, a few weeks ago, the stolen iPhone 15 started pinging locations in Find My on my iPhone. In the meantime, my girlfriend also got an iPhone 15 and started checking the Find My app obsessively on her device to track its locations daily. Some days it showed multiple locations, and some days it was stagnant.
The more regular locations from where the iPhone was pinging were near a place called Canning. The place is known as the "Gateway of Sunderbans" and is one of the biggest crime hubs. If you search for Canning on YouTube or Google, you will get a gist of it.
Citing the last known location of the iPhone showing Canning station, I and my partner went there one day despite the risks, dangers, and warnings. Although we did not get any further location updates that day, we scoured around the place but did not talk to anyone. While returning home disappointed, we stopped by the police station there to let them know about the situation.
The next day, the iPhone showed multiple locations near the city of Kolkata, though none of them were much closer to my home. However, the day after that, my girlfriend woke me up in the morning to show that the phone was pinging a location that was very close to my place. Not only that, the phone pinged the same location thrice since she started checking the Find My app. So, I immediately got up and went to the location.
It was in a place called Dover Lane (Kolkata), near a residential tower and a hotel. I went there, parked the car, and started hovering around the place, trying to locate the person who we suspect stole the phone. During that time, the phone pinged the location once or twice, and at one point, it even showed that the device was "With You" in Find My.
I stood at the location for four hours and tried to spot the suspect. During that whole time, I kept the Find My app open on my current phone to aid the stolen device ping the location. However, it showed location was updated 3 hours ago.
Hopelessly, I sat in my car, thinking of returning home without the device. Just then, I saw this guy with a red t-shirt passing by my car. He looked like a young migrant worker or a daily laborer. His t-shirt was a bit torn and his pants were pretty dirty. I don't know why I looked at him in the first place but that is when I saw him take a phone out of his pocket.
"Is that a pale-blue colored phone?" Yes. He turned on the screen. "Is that the iPhone's Dynamic Island?" Yes! "Why is he on a setup screen?" I have no idea!
Right at that moment, I check the Find My app. After 3 hours, the location was finally updated and the "With You" tag was back. I hurriedly got out of my car and followed the guy for a few meters. He stopped at a local shop to get a beedi. Just when he was about to light it, I went up to him and said "Show me your phone, brother!". He answered, that there was no balance to make a call. I said that I didn't want to make a call.
"Just give the phone. I want to see it once!", I said. He immediately got it out and handed the device. During my usage, I once dropped the iPhone 15 and that made a tiny dent on the chassis, just above the screen. I checked for it, and it sure was there!
I grabbed the phone tight and said "Let's go to the police, kid!" Bewildered, he said, "That is not my phone, I got it from a friend! My own phone was stolen a few days ago and my friend gave this to me for the time, until I get a new one. If you want to go to the police, I sure can but believe me I did not know that this phone was stolen."
Now, it is worth noting that this guy was not the guy who we suspected stole the device. He was 25-28 years of age. This guy was just 18! He was still a kid.
I asked him where does he live and what does he do for a living. He said that he lives near Canning and works as a housekeeper in the city. Then I asked him, you cannot use this iPhone whatsoever, it is in the setup-screen and is showing locked to owner, so what exactly are you doing with this device? He said that when my friend gave it to me, I liked this phone. So whenever I leave the house, I carry it around just for "fancy"!
We knew that if we took him to the police, they would lock him up and beat him. The kid was just 18. So, after taking his name, address, and father's name, we let him go!
I emailed the GRPS at Sealdah where I first filed the FIR that I got the phone back.
To be honest, I had zero hopes of getting back the stolen iPhone, and that too with Find My. But thanks to my girlfriend who never lost hope and also motivated me to try and retrieve the device.
After all this, I have a newfound respect for Apple's Find My network and am surprised that it works so very well. It is one of the most underrated features of an iPhone that more people need to appreciate.
So, that is my iPhone story. If you ever lose your iPhone or have it stolen, do not, I repeat, DO NOT underestimate the power of Find My, and above all, never lose hope!
