The team I'm on at my job manages approximately 30 Synologys. Most are DS220+s. One we installed for a client a while back has been having some major issues and we are having trouble figuring out a fix.
Their primary use case is working out of SMB shares. We also have it set to do ABB + ABB 365 along with Hyper Backup to USB drive and to C2. I believe that when we initially set it up, we had the retention policy on the C2 backup too high, so it filled up. We since cleared it (save for a couple key versions) to start fresh. It seems now that whenever it tries to do that initial backup, it bogs down the NAS extremely, extremely hard. I have never seen a NAS get so painfully slow trying to do a backup. The customer calls and tells me they can't do any of their work. I try to connect and can't even log in via DSM. I end up having to kill the Hyper Backup package via SMB to even do anything.
Synology support was a bit helpful, but I didn't get a worthy answer. What I really want to do is have the initial backup run so that the delta backups can work fine, but they are open 7 days a week and I believe (in concurrence with their connection speeds to the C2 servers) that it will take 2-3 days to perform said backup. Is there any way to have the backup run in a specified window? There is no time-window block feature like other apps on DSM, but maybe there's a way to pause the backup via a scheduled task or something? Would love to hear what you guys think because this is driving us up a wall.

I am looking to hear your stories.
I have been an RN at bedside for 12 years, 4 of those being ICU and the most recent 6 being ED. I have been “white knuckling it” since 2020, and now am at the point where I have regular panic attacks (usually associated with work) and have even had a clinician recently state they believe I am struggling with “C-PTSD” (disclaimer this is not in the DSM V). I have always been with the same hospital.
I have never felt more burnt out or exhausted. Traveling isn’t for me (for various reasons). I can’t fathom staying where I am but also cannot fathom the stress/exhaustion of training in a new role. I HATE how fragile I’ve become but I am.
When you’ve been in a place like this, because I know many of you probably have, where did you go? What did you do for work to help yourself heal and allow your nervous system to calm down? I have applied for a transfer center job (not remote) with my same hospital but i am not guaranteed to get it.
Also note - sadly “taking time off/a break” isn’t feasible as I am single/the only income.

I am a current medical student who wish an intrest to clear exams and get into the Indian Forest Services.
There was no plans of me to be a civil servent, but as time passed and I've seen people getting rude with the street dogs. As I went more active saving these in the city. I've seen even more cruelty towards the animals as got more social. And even more with the wildlifes that can't live here the way they are supposed to live I know the fact that as a IFoS officer I might not be that huge of an help for the thoughts, but it has ignited the disire to do any and everything possible from this point.

After my teacher, who is a psichology graduate, observed me, she commented that I fit into the ASD. Here is my story:
I've been feeling disconnected from others for some time now. I've visited a few professionals, but I've noticed that they seem more interested in making a profit than in conducting a thorough and humanized analysis. None of them provided me with guidance or even a diagnosis; to them, everything seems to be generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
I've realized that I'm not 'normal' or typical: since childhood, my focus was on dinosaurs, dedicating a large part of my free time to studying them and absorbing all kinds of information on the subject. However, currently, my focus is limited to the study of history and languages derived from Latin, as a way to delve into specific subjects that pique my interest.
Additionally, I have an extreme sensitivity to noise and exposure to light, especially to electronic device lights and sunlight, such as computer screens and smartphones, which cause me discomfort and irritation.
Sometimes, my speech seems monotonous or too fast, but I hardly notice it. Moreover, I unconsciously use 'sophisticated' vocabulary in informal contexts.
I've also noticed difficulties with my motor coordination, such as handling a knife and fork simultaneously. And the crux of the matter: I interpret almost everything literally and have great difficulty understanding certain social cues. This often results in an inability to expand my circle of friends or engage in passionate relationships.
After all that I sought out a psychiatrist, who mentioned that I meet almost all the criteria according to DSM-5. However, he said that two morre sessions are needed for a conclusive diagnosis.

Before you ignite your torch and grab your fork, let me explain. I trust my DM and every DM that I agree to play with that they will make a good and fun campaign. However, that I'd a long term trust. In a short term trust, in some cases, I don't and will never trust 100% in the DM. Specially if he refuses to explain things.
For example, if we are fighting a guy, and in the middle of the combat combat, 2 more appears far way, run 200ft to us and still attack in one single turn, I will question the DM how they did that (real example, that really happened) and he will refuse to explain, he will just treat like some mysterious thing that we shouldn't (and will ever) know.
Now, straight to the point, I casted some saving throw spells that could turn the plot favorable to the players, a cast suggestion one time we encountered the boss of that arc (but that wasn't the time to fight him) and asked him to reveal all his plans, thr master rolled hidden and, guess what, he passed. I also cast banishment on a monster we encountered in a mountain, my turn was the first, if the monster failed we could avoid one entire combat, but he passed either way. The point is, everything my saving throw spell could change the course of the plot, "coincidentally" the enemy always passes.
Some points I should make: First: I know some people will tell me that I should trust the DM and not play with him if I don't. I read a post in this sub about a campaign that all the players quitted after discovering that the DM didn't manage the monster's HP, he just said the monster died when he thought that was good enough. This is an extreme (but valid) example that trusting the DM shouldn't be reason to let him do what he wants, even because the DM not necessarily will know what the players want.
Second: I'm a DM myself for more than 3 years, my campaign started level 1 e and they are now level 18. I always roll open, the only time I don't roll open is when they shouldn't know a roll is being made at all.
Third: I talked already with some (not all) players of this campaign about DM rolling open and they agreed, but not necessarily that I should ask the DM to do so.
My fear is that the DM feel offended or the relationship becomes weird. I've already sent some critics to him in private and sometime we spend hours discussing, but I'm really enjoying the campaign and don't want to quit.
Edit1: i forgot to say, we play via roll20 (not presencial) and roll20 has a tool to make only the final result visible to players (not the modifier or the value in the dice)

Many of you might have noticed that with every event, crisis or declaration from the government or sidna, many comments and shares are made by fake profiles, bots or trolls, if you pay attention to the comments and the emojis used, many of them are similar. This can be observed on facebook, insta, twitter and Tiktok.

In short these groups and factories are engineering "grassroots movements" and "popular demand" and invade every social media platform to maintain the illusion of popularity of the regime. I am not saying that the regime is not popular, or that people aren't originally against migrants, but these trolls are here to direct each crisis, they create a problem, massively share content about it, with hashtags, fake stories, and lives, and then start gaining popular support through fake engagement at first and then through genuine following and comments from normal people.
Has anyone here noticed this or started researching on the matter? If you have more sources or input on the matter, please add them.

I’m looking for a D&D group in DSM. I’ve never played, but I bought this starter set that’s built for first timers. I’ve been reading it and I think that I can dungeon master this campaign.
I read online and this campaign can take between 30-50 hours, like an open world video game. So you would obviously break that up over many sessions. I’ve floated the idea past my small friend group, but none of them really have time for a weekly or a bi-weekly commitment to do the whole campaign. my wife is also interested in filling a player slot, if needed. So I need a minimum of 3 other players.
If anyone is interested, let me know. Or if people can point me in the right direction of finding players as well, that’s cool. Finding new people to do stuff like this in my 30’s is proving more difficult than it was when I was in school and around a ton of people lol.

I have a DSM and a polygon feature class that delineates tree canopies in the DSM. I was wondering if anyone has Python code they’d be willing to share that would artificially grow the trees located in the polygons by x feet.

In the latest episode Dave serves up an interesting definition of software based vs FPGA based emulation that goes something like this:
Software based emulation is concerned directly with replicating output while an FPGA based hardware representation is concerned with replicating hardware components and then relies on that fact to produce expected output.
But how accurate is this observation? I'm not an electrical engineer but I am a software developer. As such I know, that replicating the concurrency that happens on an Amiga 500 for example, would be hard to do accurately in software. I'm specifically thinking about Agnus, being the DMAC, sharing memory access with the CPU. There is no "true" concurrency in software, unless each chip is running on separate, physical cores, and even then, exact timing of resource sharing would be hard to replicate accurately, as I guess hitting even and odd cycles is controlled by a crystal oscillator on the Amiga, which you would need to implement with complex semaphore mechanics in software? But what about FPGA implementations in this regard? I'm aware that you can implement entire chipsets, but what about other hardware components, like crystals, that are integral to timing?
What I'm probably asking is, if FPGA emulation is really more "true" than software emulation? For the record I own a MiSTer myself and I don't intend to ignite a flame war - I'm just curious, as I see more logic on most boards than the CPU and custom chips.

Please bear in mind that these thoughts really only apply to RetCa Starscythe units, I just can't really explain that in a title!
This is because I think the comparison might be a bit more complicated than most people seem to realise due to the fact Farsight can use 'The Arro'kon Protocol' on his unit every turn, for free. To save you looking it up in case you can't remember;
"Until the end of the [shooting] phase, each time a model in your [battlesuit] unit makes an attack that targets an enemy unit that contains 6 or more models, that attack has the [SUSTAINED HITS 1] ability. If that attack targets an enemy unit that contains 11 or more models, it has the [SUSTAINED HITS 2] ability instead."
Alright, cool. Weirdly, my first thought wasn't Starscythes but in fact Fireknives because they like firing into big, healthy units and they get rerolls so you're gonna hit a lot of shots pretty reliably. Seemed to make sense but after some pondering I decided that too much of the appeal of Fireknives is their 'mid-strength weapon' versatility. They can play a bit of the resource management efficiency game with the 30" range and rerolls but if the moment calls for it, you can zip up into Bonded Heroes range and lay down some slightly higher than expected damage. Or fire up the Starflare Ignition System and peace out to the backline to cause trouble. To me that sounds a lot more fun and probably actually better than fishing for 6s while Farsight spends his time popping his stratagem repeatedly, waving his sword around a bit and turn by turn, slowly losing his erection.
Ok but Farsight of course enjoys his time amongst the new frontlining Starscythes so the original point of this post was to think about whether a 235pt burst cannon unit pumping out 24 S6AP-2 sus2 +1 to wound, rerolling all the 1s can compare to what the commanders offer. I'll exclude drones because I have to because I'm not that smart.
Assuming S. Suits are helping I think you average about 27 hits and you're gonna be wounding anything up to T5 on 2s, rerolling the 1s. Ok. Seems pretty good to me. Asking kindly for a 10man+leader unit to take 25 AP-2 saves sounds like something I'd enjoy. Good chance they fail 16 and they don't like it. And it's still 15-16 wounds on a 6man T6 unit which at AP-2 will often mean 3 dead chunky 3W models and sometimes 4.
Ok now imagine a (260pts) Coldstar-led team zooming across the battlefield to get within 6", dropping a few mortals on a few heads on the way over. It's nice to think about. I'm just gonna go with flamers because I think the overwatch threat is substantial enough when you're up close to justify them so 9 flamers is gonna be 31ish hits with S5 AP-2. If you're rich enough in observer units to guide with S. Suits you might earn an extra 3 wounds here vs T3/4 but for me part of the appeal of the flamers is that you can put a marker drone on the Shas'vre/Commander and spot during the turns you're usually wishing you didn't have to engage all of your spotters in frantic, sacrificial move blocking.
So with the Coldstar it's roughly 20-23 wounds vs T3/4, 15-17 vs T5 at AP-2 and that's excluding the HOBC completely. Already pretty decent but we must also try to weigh this units high independence, overwatch threat, mobility, and ability to dish out mortal wounds (and no I haven't forgotten about the fabled Farsight tank shock but to be honest I don't have much of an idea about how good it is in actuality this edition so I just sort of feel unable to add this in to the equation. That's on me.).
The damage would be slightly less on an Enforcer but then of course you get to save points and you get his lovely durABILITY. And does it even matter that you can't zoom when you can use the tiny blade to get 3" inside of them? Does anyone else just picture a 3" inch knife when you think of 'The Shortened Blade' because of your inability to not think about the rules for a moment? Because I can't not picture a 3" inch blade and it irritates me because it looks pathetic in my mind's eye. Now is the time to speak up if you share my pain. But anyway the Enforcer just seems very delicious in this type of plan given that we have amazing access to the deep and important areas of the board. You know .. Could it just be that worsening incoming AP on a unit that really needs to be killed is just really fucking good when the nearby enemy infantry can't move a muscle without getting completely cooked? I really would implore anyone who doesn't think this codex is strong or fun to keep reading and stay curious.
If anyone has any insights or thoughts I'd sincerely like to hear them as I feel that a lot of this conversation thus far has come down to more guns is better. Something which is admittedly true for us most of the time. Hopefully no matter what you think you can see this is a pretty good example of nice internal balance. Perhaps Firesight can't match up to the Commanders on the top, top level of the game (but perhaps he can?!) but I think clearly his access to free Arro'kon Protocols make him a real punchy threat on top of what is already a cool looking, versatile-ish, 8W 2+/4++ utility leader.

Now this is the first time I’ve tried to make a jjk oc AND have a cursed technique but if I’m being honest I really wanted a character with abilities to summon shikigami based on the game Okami and the brush gods in said game
Cursed technique: Celestial Body
The user has the ability to summon 12 shikigami based on the Asian zodiac signs. The user is only able to summon one at a time and each shikigami has its own unique abilities
(Upon “death” the shikigami do not die, however it does take a long time for them to regain enough strength / energy to be summoned, so if one falls during battle it will be unusable the rest of that day)

1. Dragon: (ability: rejuvenation) the user can summon a large dragon. Upon summoning the user gets the ability to heal both themself and others as long as the shikigami is by their side. To heal the user must place a hand into the dragon as the shikigami transfers its energy into the injured. This shikigami takes the most as its both the biggest and in order to actually heal you have to use both your energy and the energy of the shikigami
2. Rat: (ability: slash) can summons one or multiple rats. Due to this shikigamis small size they can be used in stealth missions as they can remain undetected as on their own they give off little cursed energy. While having multiple out the shikigami cannot use its ability but having just one gives the ability slash, the small Rodent of summoning its own divine weapon, a large sword capable of slashing through most everything. The shikigami is only able to use this 3 times in a row, before it runs out of energy needed to wield the sword
3. Boar: (ability: bomb) summons a large boar capable of stampeding through groups of enemies. Its skin is the toughest out of the shikigami and as such can take more hits. The boar is able to spew a flint like substance from its nose that it can then ignite by scraping its hoofs to create sparks this creating explosives
4. Rabbit: (ability: crescent) this shikigami gets more powerful depending on what stage the moon is, full being this shikigamis most powerful. The user is only able to summon one but when summoned the rabbit (which looks like a larger wild hare) is able to thump its foot to get the enemies attention (and locking it into its ability) and based on the moons phase the rabbit will make illusions to trick opponents. That can be a worst fear, a lost love, etc.
5. Snake: (ability: water manipulation) upon summoning the snake the user can either make it large or small depending on what’s needed. The snake has the ability to expel water from its mouth in both fast jets and large bursts and manipulate as needed. The snake does have the ability to breathe underwater as well.
6. Horse: (ability: gale) just like a normal horse this shikigami can be used as a means for transportation. Its ability allows it to create gusts of wind. When running it can create a tornado that it can then send into enemies. On command it can create smaller gusts as needed. If using as transportation every time the horses hoofs hit the ground it can let out a small burst of air causing them to run at increased speeds
7. Roostephoenix/cockatrice: (ability: flame) a medium sized shikigami with the ability to produce flames from its feathers and breathe fire. When flying it can ignite itself at will and burn through its enemy. This shikigami however is weak to water and if its feathers get wet it can no longer ignite itself and loses the ability to fly.
8. Sheep: (ability: fog) when this shikigami is summoned it appears drunk, stumbling around and seemingly can’t keep upright. The sheep has a halter with a side belt holding a large flask, when the sheep drinks from it, it can then spew from its mouth a thick fog that can disorient and confuse enemies. The longer someone is in this fog the more disoriented they become, unfortunately this goes for the user as well
9. Cat: (ability: catwalk) the cat is the size of a normal house cat. This shikigami stands out as theirs nothing particularly special other then its ability which grants it and the user the ability to walk up any surface despite the angle and terrain. The cat has to be touching the user for them to be able to use this ability as well
10. Tiger: (ability: lightning) normal sized tiger with a large bow on its back. Using its tail the shikigami is able to pull the bow back and unleash torrents of lightning. One of the more aggressive shikigami and is always looking for a fight
11. Ox: (ability: freeze) a large ox with the ability over ice. From its two horns it can unleash a beam of straight ice onto foes. And from its nose it can express a thinner frost still capable of freezing anything around.
12. Monkey: (ability: nature) the user is able to summon 1 - 3 monkeys each capable of using an ability to summon vines that can be used for both transport and attacking.

Domain Expansion: Heavenly Mother (Still working on a better name)
The domain upon activation looks like a forest at dusk with an empty clearing full of flowers. In the sky is the constellation of all 12 of the shikigami are visible. In the domain they can all be called down from the sky to attack or they can all be combined into one to form a large wolf capable of all the shikigamis abilities. The wolf’s physical form is stronger than all of the shikigami individually but as separate entities it gives more opportunity’s for getting a hit
I’m not sure if this is to OP or not as I was going to make the OC physically weak and a better long range fighter using weapons like a bow or even a whip idk that part yet lmao

So here are my suggestions:
Add new colonial anti-tank specialist grenades which one shot all tanks.
Increase damage of anti-tank sticky grenades to kill all tanks first time.
Increase damage of white ash flasks to track and terminate a tank in one throw.
Increase damage of all anti-tank launchers to kill a tank in a single strike.
Increase damage of 20mm to kill tank with one bullet.
Increase damage of 12.7mm to pierce tanks and kill all occupants in one shot (as well as destroying the tank).
Increase damage of 7.92, 7.62, 9mm to kill tanks with one round.
Add dogs to the game which can be trained to attack (if Warden) or mate with players to produce soldier supplies (Collie).
Also whenever a bike collides with a tank it should flip and ignite the fuel, exploding and killing all occupants.
I think these changes would bring some much needed balance to the late game.
