I have some family history of CAD and found out I was a 9p21 homozygote and apoe 3/4. I do regular lab work because I've been on TRT for a few years because my levels were low (300ng/dl) in my mid-late 20s. The cause seemed to be idiopathic secondary. Looked at thyroid/prolactin/cortisol/etc. I feel better than I did with low T.
I've read more about heart health lately and am terrified to be honest. My grandpa had a quadruple bypass at 60 and is alive along with all of my other grandparents today in their 80s. His side had some early deaths though and my aunt with high lp(a) had a heart attack in her 50s and is alive. Mom tested for low lp(a) luckily.
I scheduled a vascular screening that my local hospital does in a few months. They do a few things. I'm not sure if the carotid ultrasound is duplex or CIMT, but am hoping for the latter. I've read the Beat The Heart Attack Gene book and have gotten some of the tests from that as well as Peter.
Blood pressure typically runs 120-125 over 70-75 when I relax for 10 min so that seems like something to lower maybe.

Me (F,26) and my boyfriend (M,28) have been together for more than 2 years. It's been a great relationship, he feels as much my friend as he does my bf. We had some issues last year with him refusing to consider my life as well as his own (planning friend hang outs when we already had plans, not making time for my family/friends when i was hugely immersed in his). But for the most part we resolved those and he's just less extroverted than me so I can't expect him to operate the same as I will. I think it's important to note he's a big gentle giant, and I know he loves me so much. This has been his first relationship and he works hard to make me happy and treat me with kindness. Recently, he's been having more big binge drinking nights with his family and friends, and when I'm not there, it seems like it's a guarantee he'll black out, get in a fight or cause trouble. He's been locked out of his flat, in multiple physical fights, and most recently spent the night in jail for a drunk and disorderly charge (he doesn't remember the night it happened at all). I've tried to speak to him about it and say that my tolerance for violence is 0, so I can't stay with him like this. He thinks as long as its justifiable (the other person was being a prick) it's ok.
I feel like I'm mothering him, and waiting for him to grow up. But I'm still in love with him. I don't know where to draw the line and say we're done or if it's time for an ultimatum, but I don't think he's going to make a change for my comfort level. He knows I'm sensitive to violence, and that I feel as though he's betraying me every time it happens.
I think it might just be the way he is? Am I expecting too much or is this the time to call it? Or is this not as big of a deal as I feel it is? Two years is obviously not a huge amount of time but it is a serious relationship and our lives are so connected. Any advice is welcome.

Hi! First time posting here after being a reader for a while. Sadly ChatGPT and Copilot were not very helpful, so I'd appreciate any insights. Since I'm by no means an expert in Python, OOP, or design patterns, and this feels like a general conceptual issue rather than specific to my task, I thought I'd ask in a beginner's forum first.
I have written a Python package and am pretty happy with it. It works well and as intended, and I think it's really not bad considering my level of experience.
However, even though it all works, I'm not too happy about the structure of the code, as it goes against what my instinct says would be the right way to do things.
The package is very much written with OOP, and specifically tries to make use of composition as it makes absolute sense for the task. Given the requirements of the project, however, it was a challenge to make it work without circular imports, and in the result it feels to me like the dependencies go the wrong way.
A fairly minimal code example is below. The methods are silly examples that aren't the real ones, they just demonstrate what I need the classes to do.
Essentially, I have a main class `C` that should be composed of `C.a` and `C.b`, where `a` is a numeric type and `b` is an instance of `B`. Each instance of `B` that is created gets registered in an instance of `Container`.

I would have thought that for a composition approach, `c.py` should be importing `B`, partly for type hinting but mainly because `C` has methods that rely on `C.b` being a `B`.
Due to the further constraints described below, however, `b.py` is importing `C`! Am I right in feeling this is unorthodox and "wrong"?
Naturally, the duck-typing means that anything that implements the same methods as `B` could be passed to `C()`. But that just doesn't feel right.
And even though I got rid of a true circular import, `B` and `C` are still very much coupled and depend on each other. I already had a couple of bugs with endless loops due to each class referencing the other.
Or am I overthinking and actually this is all normal and ok?

Ok, I know there was a question about getting promoted to Sherlock, but the answers to the last one (about 10 days ago) were not clear cut. If your team gets promoted to Sherlock in week 5, for instance, does your team then have to finish in the 'Top 3' again in week 6 to get Sherlock awards?
What about Ace level and Private Eye level? If you get promoted to those levels in week 5, do you have to finish in the 'Top 3' to collect the best rewards? Any input on all 3 of these levels would be helpful because depending on our teammates participation (or lack thereof), all 3 of these are questions I haven't been able to find any answers on from the Wooga Help Files.

I am running into some errors while using numba. I tried researching all over the internet to find a solution to my problems but to no avail, and I would appreciate it if anyone can point me in the right direction.
So I have a simple @jitclass called B. And I also have a list of B objects as a property of A, another @jitclass.

When I run the code, it runs without any apparent issues. However, when I run the code with detailed logs enabled, I get all sorts of error messages generated by numba. Specifically, these errors are MemoryError, RuntimeError and ValueError. The following are snippets of some of these messages.

Okay so I’ve known this guy for two years now and when we first met we rushed into a relationship. It was surrounded with drama especially at first. I had a closed rhinoplasty just over 2 weeks ago. The only thing the surgeon did was shave down the side of a dorsal hump to level it out. At home I have been wearing a headband with a clip on it to support my glasses so there is no weight on the bridge of my nose.
But I'm back in office and wondering is it safe to wear my glasses? I wouldn't say they are "lightweight" and I'm concerned maybe it will affect the area that has been shave and give me an indent?

I have a group that is very good, not just experienced but work pretty well together. There are six of them. They show up to every session and know their class, they are a dream group and I love them. However sometimes when they level up I'll throw something at them that I know they can't defeat just to test them for so many rounds. For example they are level 3 and I tested them against the demon lord Fraz Urb'luu (look up stat block) they managed to incapacitate him for a single turn which allowed them all to use some of their best abilities and get about 160 health down before he got his first turn. Now to be fair the first lair action put them all to 0 instantly and he would have got them but he was just story, the idea was they need to feel like they are surviving, not winning or coming close.
So this brings me to actual boss fights I want them to win. I put them up against something that should be a challenge and they defeat it fairly easily. The answer many people have given in the past is "never use a boss against a party alone" "give him minions" however every time I try this it just adds so much time into combat, either I do too much damage in my turn if they all go at the same time or I take forever adding them to the initiative order and turns take so much longer.
Has anyone ran into this before where either it's a challenge and takes too long or it's good timing for the fight but not really difficult?
Should a fight take an entire session normally? I've always tried to have a bit of everything in each session for variety but maybe I need to accept that combat should happen not every session and when it does can take up the entire thing?

Okay so whenever I paint(usually with water mixable oils) I sometimes get cadmium colors on my hand right, afterwards I obviously wash my hands. If I eat afterwards is there a chance of any real harmful levels of cadmium getting into my body? I looked this up and I saw a variety of answers ranging from, ‘oh cadmium is safe due to it being in a largely insoluble state’ to ‘oh you just instantly die’.

Well the real reason is of course a storytelling one. The "Masquerade" is a well worn trope. Magical worlds hidden behind a veil of secrecy within our own familiar world has a vast narrative utility, not the least of which that it gives the reader a sense that the fantastic world could be real, fantastic things being intentionally kept just out of sight, allowing them to more deeply immerse themselves into the narrative (I know there's kids out there who genuinely were disappointed when their Hogwarts letter didn't come).
But also, this trope was invented in a time where we didn't all have cameras in our pockets with the ability to instantly transmit anything we want to the whole world, which keeps progressively making the very idea of a hidden world ever more ridiculous. Frankly, it can feel like the only reason we still use that narrative device is because it's only been about a generation since society and culture changed in that way and we're still getting used to the idea and still in the process of trying to come up with new story telling devices that take it into account.
At this point, due to these changes in culture and technology, a lot of peoples suspension of disbelief is being stretched to the breaking point on the whole "Masquerade" thing, So I think we need a further explanation as to how and why one could be maintained in the contemporary world, lest we abandon it as a dead horse trope.
But before figuring out logical ways a masquerade could be maintained and why, the question I want to know is "How do the people of this world even know what 'normalcy' is?"
We know what normalcy is. It's just the world and it's laws of physics as they are. Gravity, electro magnetism, chemistry, etc. All studied, all replicable by the scientific method (if proper methods are being used). But in these other worlds, magic and the paranormal are baked into their laws of physics. So why don't they see those things as normal? How have they somehow coincidentally drawn a line in the sand that separates half of their universe physical laws onto one side called "paranormal", and the other half onto a side called "Normal", with the normal side somehow coincidentally lining up with our worlds laws of physics?
I think the answer to that could be the answer to the rest. And that answer is "Belief has power". The act of simply believing things has the ability to effect reality, generate energy, be used as a weapon, etc. It's normal for large and powerful governing entities having the desire to regulate dangerous and powerful things. In our world it's things like lethal weapons and nuclear energy, but in the SCP world "Belief" is the powerful and dangerous thing they need to regulate. The act of enforcing "Normalcy" is effectively recognizing that everyone is a reality bender on some level, and that their beliefs could be the equivalent of anywhere from a gun to a nuclear bomb. And so sets of beliefs have been devised by the powers that be, through trial and error, that when they are believed they don't result in the people who believe them developing unpredictable cataclysmic psychic/magical powers that could challenge those powers that be. And the version of "normalcy" they have invented, the set of ideas they brainwash the public into believing in order to minimize the growth of psychic powers within that population, happens to coincide with our realities laws of physics.
But maybe it's not all "Evil government wants to hoard all the power for themselves". Maybe there is an actual good reason to try and prevent widespread adoption of the power of "Belief". It's often shown that in the past, magic was more accepted, and in the modern world it's like magic is going away, and various explanations are given for this. But what if psychic energy is kind of like radioactive material? What if it's a matter of the SCP foundation trying to prevent a cataclysmic critical mass of psychic energy developing within the human noosphere? It was one thing when the human population was in the millions, but what has truly changed for humans in the last thousand years is that there is exponentially more of us by multiple orders of magnitude, but the earth is still the same size. The more humans are added to the noosphere, the more powerful it becomes, and there might be a certain threshold of humans in close proximity beyond which psychic criticality is reached, and the noosphere would essentially explode. So the options are either to genocide the population down to a level below criticality, or make sure most humans are implanted with beliefs that make them psychically inert.
This would also explain how the foundation can continuously maintain "Normalcy". They likely have the ability to track the noosphere, they might even have something like a digital heat map of the worlds psychic activity, such that if paranormal stuff happens in a certain area, and it causes people to start becoming more psychically active in that area, they will see that place start to light up on the map, and know they have to go in with some of that sweet sweet Eel juice, spraying it around until the psychic activity is brought back down to acceptable levels. Hello there, meditation practicers, i have a little story to share, either the aim of having a question answered.
In genuary 2019, inspired by the alleged benefits in the fields of astract intelligence and memory, i decided to set myself on the path towards betterment by practicing meditation.
The types of meditation i begun practicing stayed the same since 2019, when i thought “this new year i will dedicate time and effort towards this goal” were mindfulness and breathing meditation, and i kept practicing only those two.
I had a lot more struggles than i expected at first, for the first two weeks i had issues meditating at all, and the following month i could not stay fully focused and meditate for more than 15 minutes a day. Eventually i begun making progress, feeling my mind become slower and drowsy and with a slightly higher focus on my feelings.
I slowly and steadily dedicated more time to meditation before good to sleep, specifically because in late 2020 the quarantine have me a lot of free time for myself at home hehe. And for more than two years it became common practice to do 25 minutes of meditation per day after i woke up.
The fact is, despite my relentless dedication to this cause, other than a vague feeling or serenity and having a bit of time to do nothing and thus focusing, by early 2021, two years later… no tangible improvement was made, i still score the same in memory and iq tests, i have noticed no tangible effect when it comes to daily life and how it feels.
Since it is scientifically proven that meditation is effective, i seized the chance still in 2021 to go to a meditation summit in florence, where i discussed about my issues with other practitioners, and long story short they said that if i am experiencing issues but i am doing well, then it’s just a matter of how long it takes for me to feel the benefits, and not to give up.
I considered that i might just not be that good anyway, so i have decided to pay to join the local “guided meditation sessions” regularly. There i realized that having gone alone all along might have been suboptimal, mainly because in 2022 i was able to talk with other practitioners (one of which became my lover and she still is my sweet half).
The point is that despite my teacher saying that i am doing well, i fail to see the time i invested as productive because of lackluster results, there had been no benefits that investing my tome in something more fun like hobbies and friends hadn’t given me. After 3 years i still hadn’t improved my scores in the practical tests i use to measure my progress.
Still in 2022 my lover quit meditation sessions, since she was told by her psychologist to do them for anxiety, and she had found other more efficient ways to reduce her anxiety levels, and i considered following her because i begun to have a sense of sadness and defeat instead of focus during mindfulness, probably induced by how deep inside after years of incredibly small gains, i knew to me it was not worth it.
After that, in late 2022 i became more open about my distress with other practitioners i knew, no longer concerned with making meditation awkward afterwards, and this is where “disaster” struck: They have been very open in return, sharing more open in return about their deeper issues and insecurities, and they told me that meditation helped them organize their thoughts, reduce stress, anxiety, being more aware about themselves…
The point is, none of those aspects apply to me! You can’t reduce stress to someone who is not stressed, anxiety to someone who is not anxious, or organization to someone that had never struggled with daily life.
And in short, one of the practitioners, who is a neurologist, told me that the benefits of meditation are scientifically indistinguishable from most healthy hobbies, and that more than half the value of mindfulness is placebo effect. In fact, she told me that someone who is already healthy is unlikely to experience tangible improvements.
After this disconcerting revelation, I overreacted and i quit meditating altogether for more than a year, from late 2022 to today. Once again i felt no difference whatsoever during this year and a half, but when i think about how many people feel happy about meditation (albeit happy about things i am not concerned about like breathing, introspection etcetera), and frankly my desperate desire to prove myself i have not wasted an ungodly amount of time because i have learned something from that experience, here i am.
Have i done something wrong? Are all the articles about actual improvements in psychological effort just bullshit and i fell for that? Would you suggest i resume my efforts even if by now i have became sceptic?

this is my first time ever playing FNV and I haven’t played video games really much outside of this beyond Minecraft and some FPS so please forgive me if I lack knowledge. My partner convinced me to give it a try and I love it, I’ve gotten very addicted to looting and selling. Don’t worry about spoilers, I don’t mind and already have a bunch.
I’ve watched my partner play some and decided I wanted to try killing all of the legion on my first go after I saw what they did to Nipton (also I’m a woman so there’s some bias there).
When I got to Nipton, I killed all of the legion there and then decided I wanted to do some farming for loot and exp in the mountains (hills?) off to the side of Nipton. There, I encountered some raiders (vipers or jackals) and started fighting them near the abandoned trucks.
Suddenly, this huge explosion went off, bigger than anything I’d seen in the game so far! It was pretty far from me (I was moving around a lot so I figure they probably just missed because of that) but it still crippled both my legs and gave me rads. It even had a small mushroom cloud.
I killed the raiders near me and checked their inventory, found nothing that seemed to be able to cause such an explosion. I checked the mountains but found no further signs of human enemies. I told my partner about it and he said it sounded like a mini nuke. I looked at the smallest mini nuke animations for the game and it looked like what I saw.
But here comes the mystery: What the heck was I fighting at this level and in this area that could launch a mini nuke, how did it disappear, and why didn’t it just kill me with another one?
I don’t know why I care so much to find out but I can’t stop wondering and am unable to find an answer online. Thanks in advance to anyone for their input.
