scroll wheel on my kreo hwak mouse has stopped working normally, it doesn't scroll when i want it to and while playing it randomly scrolls. its annoying to watch your weapons being randomly switched in mid combat. and when you are just on the internet and the pages keep going up and down. i tried reaching kreo support and all they have is WhatsApp for contact which literally does not respond. i deleted the group and tried again several times and they just don't reply. 2 times i was greeted with a bot only for it to leave me with a generic message like "our teams are working on it" after all this some random person appears randomly at any time and asks for invoice and then disappears again. i have wasted 5 days like this. what am i supposed to do, what is this service, is there any other way of reaching them. my mouse is still in warranty and i want to get it replaced. i am very infuriated with this pathetic behavior of theirs. and i even emailed then where they literally gave me the same WhatsApp number. is there any way i can claim warranty or reach them somehow.

2024.06.10 03:52 Introverted_Ghost I just finished "Misery" and this is my thoughts on the story.

Paul Sheldon being this writer was at the point of ending one of his beloved characters in the Misery series and he is aware of what the fanbase would feel about the main character’s death. Unbeknownst to him, amongst the ocean of fans, the one person who was unhappy about the ultimate change of the story was the supposed number one fan, Annie Wilkes, after she read the manuscript to the new novel in the series.
This character portrays the darker side of an individual with their mental health being unchecked for a long period. The portrayal of these characteristics is horrifying, knowing that this does exist. Her behavior and demeanor shift in certain directions that Paul Sheldon becomes more cautious of what he says to Annie and a lot of his thoughts of the crazed woman are all kept in this mental voice that Paul had in the duration of the book
>! The kills in the book were more graphic compared to the film adaption and I loved every bit of it to where I gotta read the paragraphs before the scene and the outcome of the scene and how it affected Paul's perception of Annie.!<
>! Now, while reading this book for the first time a year ago, I made near the parts where the written manuscripts of the rewritten novel, I generally skipped the parts because I got bored and later gave up on the book until then, As I picked up from the beginning of the book and read through every page (including the written manuscripts) I saw how Pauls's mental state is implemented on those written manuscripts as I progressed further into the story. As I progress into the story, I see how Paul's mental health declines with him calling his room, “the Laughing Place” after listening to her talk about her Laughing Place.!<
>! In the end, when Paul struggled to go through the day without the Novril pills being consumed, he sat in front of the word processor and found it difficult to write without being afraid of Annie or doping on pills. That is until he thought about what he saw–a kid walking around the street with a skunk inside–and found it so amusing, that he began typing down the story.!<
>! Overall the story was amazing and the fight between Paul and his inner demons after the many months of hell he endured. I see that the struggles of addiction are implemented in the book and how he recovered from it. Reading through every bit of the story (including the manuscript) was worth it and King knows how to put the reader in the character’s shoes. It is worth the six months' worth of reading.!<

2024.06.10 03:51 shroomslave LaPucelle (Tactics or Ragnarok) -> the impossible-to-get "Elixshroom"

LaPucelle (Tactics or Ragnarok) -> the impossible-to-get
Back when LaPucelle:Tactics first launched in NA, there was nothing to be "gained" from unlocking and/or acquiring every single item in the game, so (as far as I can tell) it's never been extensively investigated
I don't have the JP PSP release LaPucelle:Ragnarok, but I do have the more-recently-released "Prinny Presents Vol. 3" for NintendoSwitch, which contains two games -> Rhapsody, and a complete NA release of LP:Ragnarok
As with many of the more modern N1 RPGs, Ragnarok added an NPC (found in Pot au Feu's Udon Shop) who provides in-game statistics, including a complete inventory of items collected - and prizes are awarded as you hit specific item collection percentage benchmarks
I have acquired all items in the game, except for one (stuck @ 99.3% completion)
It's the best SP-healing consumable item, which I believe (from what I've looked up online) is called "Elixshroom"
It's numbered 8 on the "Etc" page in the NPC's Item Collection menus (attached pic)
All other HP/SP healing items are obtained primarily from random purification of dark portals in stages, or possibly by end-of-chapter rewards - using end-game stages's portals (Angel Gate, Cave of Trials, True Baal Castle, etc) I have obtained all four HP-healing consumable items, including the best HP-equivalent item "Elixir Candy" - but I've only ever been able to acquire three SP-healing items
Some on Steam threads suggest it can be acquired from Chapter 10's Good Ending prize - I have a separate save right before the three ChouxFleurHill stages that close the chapter, and have loaded the Good Ending many, many times (approx 80+ attempts) to no avail
I was wondering if anyone can speak to getting 100% of items collected in the Ragnarok version, and able to divulge how they acquired the Elixshroom? I could just be "failing the RNG gods", but for it to have taken so long, feels like I may not be doing the right thing - and there's no confirmed method online, pretty much just "ya keep trying and you'll get it someday"
Alternatively, if there's any code-rip types who are able to rip the code open and suss out the exact conditions required for Elixshroom to manifest, that could be useful info as well (ie. confirming if it really is just, say, an extremely low drop rate item, or something)
Any help is appreciated!

2024.06.10 03:46 SeaAgitated3637 eBay refused to refund an order that was never received. Chargeback failed because eBay said the fake number provided by the seller is proof. Should I go to the state or local bureaus or other venue to remedy this?

I am in California. I made an eBay order of for an item that totalled $570 on April 10. The item was marked as delivered on April 12 with a tracking number, and I never received it. You can see the full details below, but the gist is that both eBay and my financial institution have rejected my disputes. Having spent hours over this, I am confounded as to where to go next. I see the CA OAG has a complaint form, as does the BHGS. I also see that my county has a reporting form. Are any of these worthwhile? Small claims court seems like an inordinate amount of effort for the issue, but at the end of the day, I did not receive what I paid for.
I gave UPS my address information directly copied from the eBay order, and they replied: "Please know we checked for the details and can see that the delivery address details provided by you are not matching as per the details stored with us." I have a screenshot of these chat logs.
I messaged the seller on the same day (there was no response to date) and I immediately opened a missing item case with eBay. On April 19: "We're sorry you had a problem with your purchase. However, the seller provided tracking information that shows the item was delivered to your address.
After reviewing all the details of this case, we determined that you won't receive a refund."
"Hello,
Good day!
Thank you for getting back to eBay customer service regarding the . I understand that you still did not receive the item that you paid for, and you still need this product. I’m sorry to hear that the transaction did not go as expected. My name is and allow me to assist you today.
I have reviewed all the details, and I can see that the tracking information provided by the seller shows that the item was successfully delivered. With the information gathered, I strongly recommend you to contact your seller for them to request an investigation and locate the package.
Furthermore, you can also ask your neighbors if they received this shipment. We always encourage members to communicate honestly and professionally as we believe that open communication is the key in resolving any online trading issues.
Please also understand that if the buyer claims that the item was not received, tracking information is the only way we can prove otherwise.
Thank you for your utmost patience and understanding!
Sincerely,
eBay Customer Service"
I appealed to no avail.
"Hi ,
After reviewing this case, we decided to keep the original outcome. We weren't able to grant your appeal because we determined the original decision was correct.
You won't receive a refund for this case."
I filed a police report on April 19, and communicated this and the screenshot from UPS customer service to the highvalueclaims email provided by eBay.
"Hello,
I'm from eBay customer service, and I want to thank you for contacting us regarding the . We are aware that despite being shipped, you did not receive the item. Let us look what we can do moving forward.
The good news we can help you to get your money back by getting in touch with your carrier by the help of seller. You and your seller can file a claim to the carrier for lost items. Here's the link to start a claim to your carrier :https://www.ups.com/guestclaims/create?
As we've carefully checked the case details, we can see here that the tracking () shows delivered on April 12, 2024. Please note that we based our decision on the evidence we have on hand. Since the tracking shows delivered, we have to maintain our decision. We highly suggest that you contact UPS and inquire about the status of the delivery. Should you have additional evidence to overturn the decision, feel free to contact us and we will see what we can do from there.
In order to ensure that the carrier does not simply leave your box wherever and to prevent this kind of incident, you might want to consider asking for signature confirmation when making future purchases from a highly-trusted and established carrier of your choosing.
We thank you for all of your eBay business and we truly value you as an important part of the eBay community.
Kind Regards,
eBay Customer Service"
I contacted the eBay for Business Facebook page as others had recommended and filed a charge back with my financial institution. "We gave you a $570 temporary credit while we research the transaction(s) you reported. You'll have full use of the temporary funds while we do our research. If the amount we refund you would earn you interest, you'll receive it as a part of your regular interest payment or as a separate credit. We'll also refund any applicable fees. If we determine the transaction(s) was authorized or correct, we'll reverse the credit(s)."
On May 3rd, the eBay for Business page replied. "Thanks for your patience while I review that for you. We appreciate you going above and beyond to gather all that information. Sorry this happened! We never hope for our members to experience this. I went ahead and submitted this for a manual refund for you today. Typically, this process can take a few business days to complete. I should have an update for you next week! Keep an eye out for my correspondence, and we can go from there. If you have any questions in the meantime please don't hesitate to reach out. We are happy to help! ~"
On May 4th, from my financial institution: "We have researched the transaction(s) you reported on 04/24/2024. We found that the transaction(s) was processed according to the information you provided or was authorized. As a result, we are removing $570 from your account on or after 05/13/2024. If the account the claim is related to is no longer open with , and you don't have an open account with for us to debit, we may request you to repay the credit(s). Contact us if you would like to request the information we used for our research."
So I called them and spent an hour explaining that eBay had already agreed to refund, but there must be some discord between the team I was talking to and the one handling the chargeback as they provided the tracking number as evidence the chargeback was meritless. I reasserted the chargeback with my financial institution, with the UPS chat log, eBay chat log saying they were going to refund, and the police report. As it turns out, the chargeback complicated things with eBay: "Thank you so much for your patience and for letting us know about the return. I really appreciate you reaching out to us to get an update. I really apprecaite also your patience while we looked into everything for you. Looking at the return, it was closed because a dispute was opened by your payment method. Since there was a dispute opened, we are unable to look into the appeal option or go through the request sent out. We would recommend, for now, to reach out to your payment method to go over more protections with you. For now, they will be able to go over more details and see what options are available moving forward. They typically can go over the next steps with you and will go over if you need to provide any additional details. That is why we would highly recommend reaching out to them soon. Have you been able to report the seller yet on your side? I appreciate all your patience."
On May 29, my financial institution denied the chargeback reassertion. "We have researched the transaction(s) you reported on 04/24/2024. We found that the transaction(s) was processed according to the information you provided or was authorized. No adjustment will be made to your account at this time. Contact us if you would like to request the information we used for our research."

2024.06.10 03:44 Esoduh A Comprehensive Analysis of Armor and Time to Kill

Hi all! This is Esoda from the wiki team. Over the past month and change, we've been hard at work figuring out the nitty-gritty on the new armor system. As of this weekend, we've published new updates to the Ballistics and Time to Kill pages on the wiki with our findings!
I wanted to share some of the findings here, as well as an expanded analysis of time to kill, and provide some "tabor-world" examples of what this means in game and how it affects players in more common scenarios!

The TLDR

I know a lot of you will probably not be interested in reading these huge datasets and thorough analysis, so here's some bite-size takeaways. Before you yell about how this could be wrong, be sure to visit the sections in the post expanding on them more, as well as our Ballistics and Time to Kill pages!

How armor works

I'll start with what's been explained by the devs, and we'll build from there. When a round hits an armored portion of a player, it has a chance to penetrate or be blocked. If the round penetrates, its damage is reduced. If it is blocked, blunt force damage is applied.
As you can reasonably guess, different armor has different effectiveness for its chance to stop a penetration, and also alters how much penetration and blunt force damage is applied. The same goes for different rounds. Here's our findings on the different Protection Grades (PG) of armor.

Protection Grades

Protection Grade 1 2 3 4 5 6
Helmet SPH-5 SSh-68 6B47, ATE, C1300 Krtek Mask, Ronin, Fish Mask Alyn, MICH x
Armor LBAV JPC2 VestB 6B102 6B43 R61
While testing the different rounds for damage and penetration characteristics, we started seeing patterns within the rounds. We discovered that there are Caliber Grade categories where different rounds fit in! Many of these correlate with what you would expect from the IRL counterparts, for example the PDW rounds like 5.7x28 and 4.6x30 having better armor penetrating capabilities than other pistol rounds. These are grouped pretty logically as well, all AR rounds have the same penetration characteristics as each other, and same for the rifle rounds. Here's how the round effectiveness is grouped:

Caliber Grades

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
9x19 9x18 .45 .380 .22 Buckshot Birdshot .50 AE 10mm 7.62x25 5.7x28 4.6x30 Slug 9x39 7.62x39 5.56x45 5.45x39 9x19 AP 9x18 AP .45 AP .380 AP .22 AP .50 AE AP 10mm AP 7.62x25 AP 5.7x28 AP 4.6x30 AP 7.62x54 7.62x51 6.8x51 .30-06 9x39 AP 7.62x39 AP 5.56x45 AP 5.45x39 AP 7.62x54 AP 7.62x51 AP 6.8x51 AP .30-06 AP .50 BMG .338 LM

CG vs PG Effectiveness

In practicality, what armor boils down to is how effective is the CG of a round vs the PG of the armor its hitting? This is where the delay in posting our results stems from, as it was a LOT of data gathering! Thanks to some math wizardry, we can also calculate the average damage reduction of a given CG vs a given PG, to help give us some averages and answers! The formatting here on Reddit is a little limited, but if you hop over to the Ballistics page we've made a much nicer table there.
Note here that the lower the Avg Dmg Multiplier, the worse the round is vs the armor (this is how much damage the round does in comparison to no armor)

Time to Kill and Armor

The last piece of the puzzle to really start looking for trends is how armor effects the time to kill. Most of my work is published on the Time to Kill page, but if this all hasn't been enough data for you, I have a public version of my spreadsheet I used to calculate everything and look for trends as well. This includes further analysis on comparing TTK when legging, and breakdowns for each PG. Here's Some averages for TTKs of weapon classes vs armors:

Weapon Class TTK Averages

Weapon Class PG1 PG2 PG3 PG4 PG5 PG6
Rifle FMJ 0.23 0.33 0.47 1.15 2.24 3.65
Rifle AP 0.22 0.22 0.22 0.22 0.29 0.70
SMG FMJ 0.36 0.49 0.72 1.23 1.87 2.76
SMG AP 0.17 0.17 0.24 0.41 1.59 2.56
Pistol FMJ 2.30 3.10 4.65 7.85 11.95 17.60
Pistol AP 1.20 1.20 1.55 2.60 9.10 16.35
For analysis purposes later on, it will be useful to know the TTK of using FMJ vs legs. Based on the player model, we can see that shots to the upper leg do 50% and lower leg does 35%. For these calculations, we split the difference and averaged 42.5% damage reduction to "legging". EXCEPT for PG6, more on that later

Weapon Class Legging TTK Averages

Weapon Class PG 0-5 PG6*
Rifle 0.52 1.37
SMG 0.42 1.03
Pistol 2.60 6.50
*How could legging be different for PG6? PG6 armor covers the upper legs. So our formula changes, since blunt damage is applied and then reduced again by the leg multiplier. The same idea is used here, we split the difference between 35% for lower leg and 3.5% for the upper leg hits, averaging us at 19%.

The numbers Mason, what do they mean?!

While crunching these numbers, it was easy to start picking out some trends. I made some charts in my spreadsheet to illustrate this.
Visually, these charts really help us start to paint a picture of how CG and PG interact.

So is armor worth it?

PG1 armor is already offering decent protection vs SMG and Pistol FMJ rounds, which will help you vs a good chunk of Fenix weapons, and of course any players running these. By PG3, we're likely seeing very noticeable gains in protectiveness vs the small rounds. For rifle FMJ, you're not really seeing sizeable returns until PG3, then at PG4 we see a substantial drop in effectiveness for FMJ.

So is AP worth it?

Almost undeniably, we can see that overall, AP is very effective. For rifle rounds, centermass AP is vastly superior to FMJ, even when it starts to drop off at PG6 it's still doing Over 4.5 times more damage than FMJ, and still beating out the TTK of FMJ legging by a longshot. SMGs model a little bit differently, were the gap between AP and FMJ closes vs PG5. For some SMGs that's sooner, and for others like the P90, MP7 and PPSH they actually remain okay vs PG5. For a more detailed comparison visit the PG tabs in the spreadsheet.

Wait, if they're both worth it don't they cancel each other out?

Sort of - you get into funny scenarios where if you could know that every player you're facing is packing rifle AP rounds, the LBAV actually offers you no more protection than the 6B102. However, due to the nature of Tabor (outside of whacky wipe events), you're taking a gambit. If you decide "I'm going to go cheap and go with an LBAV because everyone runs AP anyway", you run the risk of getting got by a naked that ratted you with a Galil, where a 6B102 would give you enough time to react possibly.

God Mode - AKA PG6 AKA Collector Armor

I figured this should get its own category. The R61 is absolutely absurd protection. If you come across someone wearing it and you're running FMJ, your only real hope is a headshot. Protecting the upper arms and upper legs makes legging a really hard task. Even AR AP rounds are reduced to one third of their damage, which is still serviceable in a fight but puts you at a major disadvantage. Even the best armor piercing SMG rounds like the P90 and MP7 are taking nearly two seconds to deliver fatal damage, which is not going to win that fight vs any sort of competent opponent. The only clear winner vs PG6 is CG9: Full Cartridge AP rounds.

Slayer of Armors: AP Battle Rifles, LMGs, and Snipers

Full cartridge AP rounds still have 100% penetration chance vs all Protection Grades of armor. 2 shots of a G3 loaded with AP will end anyone's career in 0.11 seconds. The flipside of this, is Assault Rifle AP rounds are nearly as effective, with them being a little bit worse vs PG5, and moderately worse vs PG6

Applying logic to the numbers

After I created the TTK page, I noticed a lot of people misguidedly saying x gun is better than y because its TTK is .02 faster. Some things to consider is average ping is somewhere around .2-.3 seconds, which is longer than the TTK of quite a few guns when unarmored. Average human reaction time hovers around .2 seconds. Realistically, armor isn't going to "feel" much different till probably you hit the half second mark on TTK. Tabor fights are blisteringly fast, and most of the time are decided by who engages first. Armor may give you breathing room if you get jumped by someone using low CG rounds though!

And that's all I have to say about that

If you made it through all that, thank you for taking the time to read this! It's been a lot of work but also a lot of fun uncovering the armor system, and working on analyzing and presenting this data. My biggest thanks goes to Aboleth for helping lead this discovery, and our large group of testers for giving us recordings of data to analyze.
If you have found any discrepancies with what's presented, the wiki team is always open to feedback as we want to provide the most accurate data we can to the playerbase to help everyone make informed decisions! All we ask is that you give us some concrete evidence or proof when addressing this. Post up in the #wiki-fandom channel in the Discord if you end up finding something that needs correction!

    2. Sixty Win Consolation Prize - for sixty wins in a season, one project or product of yours per jump becomes wildly successful
    3. Highest Kudos Consolation Prize - significant luck boost

Jump Notes

  1. Day -6
    1. We fly to an isolated area so we can enter the warehouse without witnesses, to avoid any confusion
    2. According to the pattern my benefactor established, I should be due for another rule change and a gauntlet, so I check the lounge immediately
      1. There's no note on the door this time, and no one inside to speak with me, but there is a card on the coffee table:
      2. Indeed, there are now five envelopes, each describing a different gauntlet I could visit
      3. After a bit of thought, I opt for Fall Guys, as I can at least expect it to be quick and merciful, and affix the sticker to my jump tracking chart
    3. I turn my attention back to the biosphere teleport to the observation deck, and make note of what's changed in the last ten years
      1. At the macro level things seems to be similar - the islands are in the same places, but there is noticeably more going on in the factory complex
      2. With the end of the jump, the Zetan Mothership had warped into the extra-dimensional Big Garage, and the alien crew were occasionally filtering into the rest of the warehouse and biosphere area
      3. The Bards had built an amphitheater from a hill near the housing complex early on, and by now it had grown into a full-blown outdoor theater, with an excavated pit, curtain system, and similar facilities
      4. The biggest change had been on the islands assigned to the halflings, which were now full of farms, ranches, and workshops
    4. With a steady supply of fresh food now including cereals, fruits, seafood, and meat, they grocery preference was adjusted toward supplemental items like spices and unusual ingredients
      1. This time Pawl has some trained or programmed robots helping with the meal preparation - likely J-Borg's influence, but the meal is divine, and he even has been saving up shrimp from the warehouse grocery's plan to make a feast for the Zetans
  2. Most of the team hasn't heard of Fall Guys before, but it's one of the 1500 or so games installed on the Game Room's servers
    1. We spend much of the week trying to come up with strategies for the various levels and challenges
    2. I don't tell the companions that the next batch of jumps will be partially my choice, but more than once I hear one of them say "It would be interesting to visit ..." or similar remarks, and I wonder if somehow they know, or I'm just sensitive to it now that I do
  3. Day 1 of 60
    1. With the weird twisty feeling of a jump, and the sudden awareness of how much I am now lacking, I find myself in a throng of bean-people, some in costumes, watching a brief countdown before running a course of rotating platforms and knock-down bars
      1. I did ok in that first race, and even though I didn't finish first, I qualified to go to the next level
      2. After two levels, I failed to qualify in a team game sort of like basketball, and was kicked out of the match
    2. After the match, I was sent to a strange room
      1. The first things I noticed were areas that looked sort of like walk-in showers with glass doors I could open and step through, one labeled "next match" and one labeled "end day"
      2. But there was also a strange thing that seemed like a combination of dollhouse, wardrobe, and vending machine
    3. I had thought about it, and told myself that I'd devote my first day to learning my limits and getting used to my body and advantages, rather than just trying to win immediately
      1. This was good as my second match started with a team tail tag event, wherein my team seemed to have forgotten how to effectively run away
    4. After a few more matches (or maybe a lot) I had the hang of things, and finally got first place in a match 5. Figuring it best to end on a high note, I decided to try the "end day" option, which resulted in another trap door - leading to a bed perfectly suited for a pill, on which I instantly fell asleep
  4. Day 2 of 60
    1. I woke up to my bed being gently tipped, resulting in me falling through, yes, another trapdoor, which somehow led back to my "green room" as I'd taken to calling it
      1. This time the greenroom had a new feature: A screen showing "59 days remaining", and a few stats about me and the competition
    2. I once again tried to focus on practice and calibration for a bit
      1. It seems like even my bodymod enhancements, which should give me great advantages in strength, speed, and reaction, had been significantly tuned down
      2. But I was consistently lucky in my starting position, and I seemed to fare better when getting knocked around, as well as judging jumps and dives
    3. This time I got my victory earlier - on my fifth match of the day
      1. But rather than "quit while ahead", I decided to try to grind through a bit more to see if I could improve my standing in point totals
  5. Day 10 of 60
    1. I hate the Lost Temple
      1. It's not even a team event, where I expect suckage, it's just random bullshit
    2. And I hate my teammates
      1. I think it's intentionally pairing me with bots, or babies maybe? It's hard to tell
    3. But through perseverance, I have managed to get myself into the top 5% of scorers for the season
    4. I learned that the scoreboard screen has more functions
      1. I can see a history of my games and watch replays, and see the names of other players involved, plus get some more stats about myself and the season
    5. I tried a few goofy outfits, but I have mostly been wearing the plain blue bean-condom - I just don't feel comfortable in the weird ones with lots of parts flailing around
  6. Day 30 of 60
    1. I wake up and check the leaderboard - it seems unchanged from last night
      1. It seems most players only play a few matches per day, and I spent a fair amount of time yesterday reviewing replays
      2. I barely need to sleep, but I think the others need it more
      3. I'm still in 7th place - I'm trying to keep the gap between me and #1 narrow, but not so much as to make the top 3 feel the need to play even more matches
    2. I start my first match of the day - it seems to be only slightly different than the first map I played on day one: spinning platforms resembling propellers, with spinning bars
      1. I yield the lead to a random, but keep pace with him while blocking anyone behind me as well as I can
      2. I dive to tackle the leading bean, right as he should be jumping to avoid the obstacles
      3. The bar hits us both and we go flying - the rando off to the side, and I manage to fly directly over the next moving platform, saving myself precious seconds
      4. With a sizeable lead, I race over the rolling logs, dodge the swinging hammers just on time, and hit the finish line - first again
    3. After that match, I spend some time reviewing games - my own mistakes, but also the play style of the rest of the top 10, I know that as the season comes to a close, I'm going to have to make a run for their leads, and they won't want to give them up easily
  7. Day 45 of 60
    1. I drop into my green room and see I'm still #7, and the gap is still manageable
    2. I play matches constantly today - starting each as soon as I'm able
      1. I'm curious about how it builds the rosters for each match, and trying an experiment
    3. I play for hours, grateful that my body and mind don't tire like most people
      1. The Temple and team events still frustrate me, but I'm not going for first place today, not pulling out my best tricks, and the shear number of matches nets me a sizeable amount of kudos
    4. After some ridiculous number of matches, I notice some strange trends
      1. In team matches, the enemy teams now seem to be as bad as mine
      2. My competitors also don't seem to be really trying to win - a larger portion of them seem to be just charging ahead heedless of obstacles, which makes the rounds take much longer to finish
      3. More noticeably, I spend far longer waiting after being washed and dressed, presumably as the system finds enough competitors for a match
  8. Day 46 of 60
    1. I don't even start a match when I wake up - the leaderboard has me at #4, which is where I stopped my "grinding" yesterday for fear of sparking a trend of even more matches per day
    2. Instead, I study the replays of the games from yesterday
      1. I wasn't fooling myself - after a while, the quality of competition dropped sharply
      2. And it seemed like the pool of competitors was even early in the day, and skewed toward the bottom quartile more as the day dragged on
      3. Even those players weren't quite playing their usual way though - well, some were extremely consistent but some weren't
      4. It makes me wonder if it's waking them up from sleep to fill a match, or some of them are bots or simulations, or something else
  9. Day 60 of 60
    1. The end-of-season race heated up despite my efforts to not cause it so
    2. The day drags on, and I keep myself at #4 by alternating between games and watching replays
    3. Eventually I see that the updates are becoming less frequent, and go into action, starting to play in earnest
      1. I easily qualify through the first rounds, even carrying my team through Hoarders despite themselves
      2. The game announces the final round, and the countdown starts at 3...
    4. I unleash - taking full advantage of my positional superiority, my unmatched timing, my freakish ability to land where and how I want, and most importantly, my endurance
      1. I'm trying to build an insurmountable and intimidating lead
      2. I know the playstyle, preferred outfits, and rough ranking of each of the 300 competitors in my group this season
      3. After rigorous testing, I've determined that I still have an ever so slight advantage in straightaway speed and jump distance over my competitors - the benefits of my body mod being compressed so as to be almost unnoticeable, but not completely wiped out
    5. The gap between me and #2 is now the same as the gap between #2 and #9 - but I see that others in the top ten at least are still gaining points even as the day wanes on
      1. I keep going all-out, not winning every match as luck and teammates interfere, but consistently qualifying and gaining Kudos to maintain and grow my lead
    6. I get placed in a match with #2, the former #1, "Alan", if the Sorcerer skin he prefers is really him
      1. I don't need the points right now, so I target him - blocking and tackling him at every opportunity, getting us both eliminated
      2. Then I do it again in the next match
      3. When he drops to #3 I go back to exploiting my small but meaningful advantages and rack up some more points
    7. And I keep going, even longer than I did on Day 45 - switching between building my lead and tormenting the runners up
    8. And then, when I step into the "Next Match" tube for the 42nd time that day, the trapdoor slide drops me into the entrance hall of my warehouse, dumping a certificate of achievement and a heap of bean-fitting clothes on my head

Notes on the Jump Doc

  1. I came in having seen the game played, but not tried it myself. Fortunately there lots of recordings and forum posts about the game
  2. The perk descriptions were brief and straightforward, which I like
    1. It would be nice if they had a bit more description of how to apply in other settings, but most are pretty self-explanatory
    2. There's not a lot of options here - just a few perks and no items, but that's appropriate for a gauntlet focused on this particular game. If you want something more broad and extensive, this probably isn't the gauntlet (or videogame) for you
    3. I could see a non-gauntlet version including more for other game modes and such, but I don't think it would really be an improvement
  3. Similarly the drawbacks and prizes were quite clear, if also not very numerous
    1. Speaking of the prizes, I liked the tiers / options
  4. Coming in at nine pages, this is a short but not too short description of the gauntlet
  5. The one area I would have liked a bit more elaboration on is how the gauntlet interacts with existing bodymod improvements
    1. I chose to almost completely negate the physical improvements, because they would have been too much in this gauntlet
  6. Overall, this is what you'd expect
    1. if you're into Fall Guys, go for it
    2. If you want a low-stakes gauntlet with a fixed short duration, this is perfect
    3. The 400 point perk (Mulligan) isn't something I've seen elsewhere, so that might be another reason to take this

Jump Duration

Days: 60

Origin

Origin: Fall Guy There is only one origin here: Fall Guy.
As a Fall Guy, you are a short, squat humanoid, with a jelly bean-shaped body. You have a limited amount of body control, generally waddling around and occasionally jumping, but you have a ridiculous amount of durability, easily capable of handling being smacked hard enough to fly through the air, or surviving a long fall while landing on your head with nary a scratch. Your face consists of just a pair of eyes, with the rest of your body generally wrapped up in some sort of costume, though you are still capable of making sounds and even eating while spectating, though the actual method is... unknown. However, you don’t strictly need to eat or drink or even sleep. You might get a bit loopy without rest, but that isn’t a big change from how most Fall Guys act. You do lose access to Perks and Items and such from prior Jumps while you are here.

Perks

Kudos For You! (Free)
While you are here, any Episode that you compete in will earn you Kudos, the main form of currency used by Fall Guys. The farther you get in an Episode, the more you will earn, and if you do things that are particularly impressive or awesome looking, you’ll get a bit more. This currency can be used to purchase a variety of things, primarily cosmetic changes for your individualized outfit, but it is also used in day-to-day life of the Fall Guys as well for things like snacks or souvenirs.
Front Of The Pack [100/900 CP]
It can be difficult when your starting position is randomly set to the back corner of the starting area, meaning everyone else has a chance to run forward before you can even get going. Now, you will always be positioned at the front and in the general middle, giving you the best position for starting out. In future Jumps, this will translate to a similar bonus in other competitions, helping to place you in an advantageous position before the contest starts.
Timing [100/800 CP]
Frequently, the difference between success and fall-ure in the competition is split-second timing. You now have a clear grasp of timing, being able to accurately judge how quickly you are capable of moving, the timing cycles of various obstacles, and when you need to jump or dive to avoid them.
Awareness [200/600 CP]
It is like you have eyes in the back of your head. Or maybe a ‘third-person awareness’. You can sense when something is happening outside of your field of vision, and respond appropriately.
Like A Cat [200/400 CP]
Oops. You stepped wrong, and now you are hurtling through the air like a sack of sand that thinks it’s a duck. Luckily, you’ll somehow manage to land on your feet. Anytime that you end up falling or flying through the air, you’ll be able to right yourself so you can land on your feet, absorbing the impact so you can keep waddling towards the finish line, and you’ll be able to slightly direct your momentum while you are in the air to land at the point you intended. Highest Kudos Consolation Prize (Free)
Less of a consolation prize and more of an alternate win method. In short, if you have managed to gain the most Kudos of any other competitor during this current season (don’t worry, there is a scoreboard that can allow you to check how you are ranking up), then you can win this version of the prize. You don’t get a full slider, but you do have a permanent and significant boost to your luck. All sorts of minor events will go your way (rain stopping nearby when you don’t have an umbrella, getting to a bakery just in time for the last ‘everything’ bagel, etc). It is still possible for you to fail through concerted effort by others or your own complacency, but it won’t happen just from random chance.

Items

One Win (Free)
You actually won an Episode! Congratulations! In celebration of your accomplishment, you get a Fall Guy Arena Space. This is a pocket dimension, filled with pink slime and having several floating platforms and blocks that can be rearranged into the shape of obstacles. You are capable of freely reshaping the space and structures within here, though nothing inside can be taken out. You can use this to host your own version of Ultimate Knockout, with anyone who enters this space gaining a Fall Guy form while they are here. This space can connect to your warehouse, or can be linked up to a colorful door that you can insert somewhere in any future Jump.
Sixty Win Consolation Prize (Free)
So, you missed out on victory on a few days, but you still managed at least sixty wins overall. So, you now get a limited version of the prize. Effectively, you can pick any one single discrete project or product that you develop during a given Jump (or every 10 years post-Spark), and have it be a runaway success. All other projects will succeed or fail on their own merits. As before, if you win the highest prize, you can pick between the full Midas Touch, or the limited consolation version.

Drawbacks

Shifting Events [100/500 CP]
Normally, events will remain the same between Episodes, with only maybe hidden obstacles changing their position. Now, however, things will change between events. Maybe an obstacle will have the order of obstacles changed, or there will be swinging pendulums replacing spinning bars in a section. Events will never look quite the same twice in a row, so you and your competitors won’t simply be able to rely on a ‘standard’ approach to win.
Oof! [100/600 CP]
Well, you might not get injured, but unfortunately, you do still have a sense of pain. It isn’t crippling (falling off a building and landing on your head would leave you seeing stars for a few seconds, before the pain vanishes), but it could be distracting during an Episode.
Worst Event [100/700 CP]
There is this one event that you absolutely hate doing. You find it annoying, demeaning, a waste of time. But, unfortunately, it will show up in over 80% of the Episodes you compete in. Better get used to gritting your possibly non-existent teeth.
Incompetents [300/1000 CP]
On occasion, the events that you will undergo will split you into teams with your fellow competitors, forcing you to work together or you all fail. Sadly for you, your teams always seem to be below average in performance. Uncoordinated and unskilled, they will require you to put in a lot of effort to ‘carry’ them to victory, and team events will show up at least every other Episode you compete in, if not more often.

Texas community for special needs adults is a model for others: 'A joyful place' New film tells faith-filled, family-driven story of community for adults with special needs By Fox News Staff Fox News Published June 9, 2024 1:01pm EDT
"We all need more light today. We need more positivity. We need family and faith, hope and strength — that's what these stories are all about."
Those are the words of SQuire Rushnell and Louise DuArt, co-founders of the Godwinks brands and based in Massachusetts, who shared the following story with Fox News Digital.
The couple specialize in what they call "Godwinks" stories — and believe that the Lord works in mysterious ways. '
"Godwink is the new word of the language," Rushnell told Fox News Digital. "It means an event that seems like a coincidence — but you know it comes from a divine origin."
Read on to see what he means.
Nurtured by prayer & persistence The Brookwood Community for Adults with Special Needs lies on 485 idyllic acres, a half-hour west of Houston, near the village of Brookshire, Texas.
Brkwd Aerial Photo Brkwd Community The Brookwood Community for Adults with Special Needs Educators in Texas, just west of Houston. Educators have traveled from all over the world to learn how Brookwood has become a model of success. (Brookwood)
Educators have traveled from all over the globe to learn how Brookwood has become a model of success.
From a low-altitude aircraft, one might mistake Brookwood for a small college campus. A chapel steeple rises from a gathering of charming brick buildings, connected by orderly walkways and rolling green lawns, to homes like those in gated residential areas.
It may be difficult to imagine that the magnificent property of Brookwood Community grew from the seeds of tragedy — nurtured by the power of prayer and persistence.
The Brookwood story began with its tall and straight-speaking founder, Yvonne Streit, the mother of a severely brain-damaged daughter, Vicki.
Conventional wisdom told the mom that she'd better put her child away.
As a child, she could neither speak nor move.
Conventional wisdom told the mom that she'd better put her child away.
But "oh no, that was not for me," said Streit.
She found experts who suggested that children with special needs could do many more things than people thought they could. And that, like everyone else, they "needed to be needed" and yearned to have a purpose.

Streit found experts who suggested that children with special needs could do many more things than people thought they could — and that, like everyone else, they "needed to be needed" and yearned to have a purpose. (Brookwood)
Subsequently, after months and years of patient training, Streit taught her daughter how to grasp, lift and release an object in order to feed herself.
Years later, when Brookwood was started, the girl's simple skill allowed her to grasp a potted seedling plant, lift it into a tray — and release it.
‘DOGWINKS’ ARE MAN'S BEST FRIEND BRINGING THE DIVINE INTO OUR LIVES WITH ‘GODWINKS’
To this day, Vicki Streit reportedly has repeated that process with over 15,000 plants in Brookwood’s horticultural enterprise.
So she's significantly contributed to one of the largest annual crops of Christmas poinsettias in the state of Texas.
Like so many things in life that people start out to do — it often takes a good number of Godwinks to get there.
Yvonne Streit recalled that when her daughter approached the age of 18, it became clear to her that while many places were teaching special needs children, very few facilities were providing life-skills training for special needs adults.
That gave birth to Yvonne Streit’s dream of starting a place called Brookwood.
Yet, like so many things in life that people start out to do, it often takes a good number of "Godwinks" to get there.
Carefully articulated plan An undertaking like that needed to begin with a carefully articulated plan.
To create the blueprint for Brookwood Community, Yvonne Streit appeared before Rotary clubs, churches, and chambers of commerce — explaining to anyone standing still that she needed seed money for the necessary travel and study.
One night, her husband, Dave Streit, looked at his wife. Seeing the disappointment on her face, he asked how it went at Rotary that day.

She shook her head and sighed. "One more speech with no takers."
In her bedtime prayers, she choked back tears, she said later.
"God, I know you placed this desire on my heart. And I was sure you had given me the ‘Go’ sign. But, did I misunderstand you?" she prayed. "Because I’m ready to throw in the towel."
A man was standing there with an envelope. He said, "Here’s $10,000 for you to study the idea of Brookwood."
The next morning, she got up and put on the face that many put on sometimes. On the outside, it signals to the world, "I’m good" — but it's really hiding feelings of sadness, worry or fear that exist on the inside.
When she got to the office, a man named Frank was standing there with an envelope. He said, "Here’s $10,000 for you to study the idea of Brookwood."
She was flabbergasted.
Then a few minutes later, her assistant said someone had just called and was "sending over a check for $7,500."
What?
Then, at 10 o’clock, St Luke’s Church phoned. The church was sending a check for $25,000 "to study Brookwood."
And at 11 a.m., the Barrow Foundation called: "We’re sending you $30,000."
Streit couldn’t believe it. She now felt a string of hope, all stemming from her heartfelt prayers of the night before.
It was $72,500 worth of Godwinks — and definitely giving her the "Go" sign.
Long into the future Today, the Brookwood Community is home to more than 250 citizens.
Some individuals paint pottery in stone casting that is then displayed in the gift shop, which looks like it belongs in the pages of a home and garden magazine.
For more Lifestyle articles, visit www.foxnews.com/lifestyle
Other citizens are servers or assistants in the kitchen at the Brookwood Café, a popular luncheon spot for the garden clubs of Houston.
Here, reservations are recommended.
After 24 years, Streit turned over the daily operations to her daughter, Vivian Shudde, herself the mother of a special needs child.
Brookwood in Texas maintains a significant horticultural enterprise. (Brookwood)
For the past 17 years, Shudde, with a degree in special education, has overseen an impressive expansion of the Brookwood campus, developed a succession plan and secured the evolution of the Brookwood Community philosophy long into the future.
"Our vision is to change the way the world thinks about adults with disabilities," the community's website notes.
Now, a new 20-minute docufilm produced by Crescent Moon Productions, "A Joyful Place – The Brookwood Community," celebrates the culture of joy that springs from all those who visit the Brookwood campus.
For more details and history — including a view of the new film — anyone can check out the Brookwood Community's website at www.brookwoodcommunity.org.
Several stories about Brookwood are included in "Godwink Christmas Stories," a book by SQuire Rushnell and Louise DuArt, while Yvonne Streit’s book, coauthored by Jana Mullins, "Everybody’s Got A Seed to Grow," describes Brookwood's story.
Rushnell and DuArt are also working on a new book due out next year. Anyone can learn more about the Godwinks projects at www.godwinks.com.

2024.06.10 03:27 JustTrendingHere Is 'inference reading' an overlooked method for online trend-spotting?

Chat-bot content on 'Inference reading:' 'Inference reading' or 'Inference scanning' for online trend-spotting involves analyzing various online sources such as social media, blogs, forums, news articles, and other digital platforms to identify emerging trends, patterns, and insights.
This method requires reading between the lines, understanding context, and interpreting subtle cues to infer what topics are gaining traction, what sentiments are prevalent, and what actions people are taking.
It's about drawing conclusions from the available data to anticipate upcoming trends and adapt strategies accordingly.
What are familiar terms (nouns) which come-to mind?
Online searches generally apply nouns.
A rather mundane grammar-use in online searches might yield important emerging trends across a diversity of topics.
Example of search approaches favorable for trend-spotting:
  • '(noun) is/has'
  • '(noun) are/have.' plural
Search of 'news' content listings published anywhere from the previous week to the previous month tends to yield a managable number of search-engine results.
Additional search methods:
In a nutshell, online trend-spotting is reading between the lines (and the words) in order to separate the "signal from the noise." Trend-spotting is more of an art than a science.
Specific KEYWORDS are largely the science part of trend-spotting.
Content containing the following KEYWORDS may be content signalling emerging trends.
What emerging trends might show-up in news-content published over the previous '24 hours?' The previous 'week?'
KEYWORDS:
  • IS/ARE BECOMING
  • BECOMING INCREASINGLY
  • BECOMING MORE
  • MORE AND MORE
  • ARE/IS/BEEN INCREASINGLY
  • A TREND / A * TREND ( "*" wildcard search)
Online-search tip:
Specific words to exclude from search-results pages are also important. The 'advanced search page' offers an option to exclude content containing specific keywords from search-result page listings An example of content containing keywords to exclude, 'he' 'she' 'me.'
Search-results with content mentioning such terms as "he said", "she said" are usually irrelevant to content on emerging trends. Applying searches in order to exclude 'he' 'she' 'me' greatly reduces the number of irrelevant search-result listings.

2024.06.10 03:18 tmullen99 Thoughts on Stallions’ attendance (long post, but I feel it’s worth a read).

I just saw Anthony Miller’s post on X and I guess this is my response. Before anyone gets upset 1) I am a Stallions fan from Alabama saying all of this and 2) I don’t think that this post falls in the “tribalist XFL v. USFL” category.
I’ll be the first to admit that the Stallions attendance should be and needs to get better. With that said, I feel like alot of people are missing some context as to why attendance is what it is. So I felt the need to make this post. Also, this post is in no way targeted towards Battlehawk fans or St. Louis, I just mention them (for context) because we are most often compared to them.
I think that for a city that has been burned by spring football so many times, putting 10-15k in the stands for a spring league is pretty good. The only direction from here is up.
Yes, the team is very good, having won two straight titles and possibly a third soon. This success often gets pointed out when people criticize the Stallions’ attendance. But they ignore the 3-4 other teams who are putting up just as bad if not worse attendance numbers, and all of those teams (except for Memphis) are in much larger markets than Birmingham. I get “those teams get a pass because they aren’t as good but Birmingham is a disappointment because they are winning so much and should have Battlehawks level attendance.”
On the surface, this might seem like a fair point. However, the reality is that decades of fly-by-night leagues have deeply affected Birmingham’s psyche around spring football. People are simply afraid the league will fold and don't want to get too emotionally invested only to be heartbroken again.
So yeah
the assumption that people in Birmingham don’t care about or are hostile towards the Stallions is false - as should be evidenced by TV ratings and conversations around the city. Most people are in a “wait and see period” where they will watch them on TV, and support them from afar. Go to almost any sports bar in the city and they’ll have the Stallions game on. Alot of folk who won’t go to games watch every game and will even get upset or nervous when the team looks like it will lose or actually loses. There are a lot of “over the mountain” (white middle class to wealthy conservative suburban folk) who will engage with the Stallions’ social media pages or local news station posts about the team’s games - but just aren’t at the point yet where they are ready to fully get over that past trauma and come to games. Which leads to my next point:
Anyone suggesting or hoping for the Stallions to relocate needs to stop. There is zero chance that happens, and it would be foolish for the league to move what is probably its biggest brand (it’s either us or the Battlehawks), a brand that also has a 40-year history in Birmingham. I believe the league would fold before relocating the Stallions and I don’t think any team is at any immediate risk of being moved.
Leaving Birmingham, where the low attendance is mostly due to generational trauma, would only confirm that all of the people who were hesitant to show up to games were right in staying home. There would be a bunch of “see, look, I knew it.” The only thing that makes any sense is for the league to remain here, significantly beef up local advertising, and (once it becomes financially feasible), have players live in their home markets to integrate with the community. Many fans across the league are put off by the players living in Dallas and only flying in for games. If the Stallions leave, it would reinforce fears and sour the city on non-NFL football beyond repair. No spring league football team would ever have a chance in this market ever again.
What I think is most absurd is when I see people comparing Birmingham to cities that have - or have had at one point - NFL teams like St. Louis, Cleveland, Baltimore, and Houston, which all lost NFL teams but saw instant support when the NFL returned. This comparison is very flawed and is a very lazy comparison without much or any real thought behind it. The NFL is an established league with a sense of permanence. When those cities got new teams, it was their own fault for losing the previous ones (the Rams leaving wasn’t St. Louis’ fault but the Cardinals leaving was) because they - after repeated warnings from team owners to build new stadiums - failed to do so. The replacement teams in those markets had instant sellouts due to the NFL's stability. People know that the NFL is not going to fold. The team may relocate, but there is always, at least hypothetically, a chance you can get a replacement team at some point. You can’t get a replacement team in a league that no longer exists so Birmingham’s situation is different; past teams left not because of lack of support, but because the leagues themselves folded.
The Vulcans and Americans of the 70s WFL, the OG Stallions of the 80s USFL, and most other teams all had good attendance until repeated league failures just eventually wore people down.
The AAF and Birmingham Iron folding did a real bad number on folks in Birmingham and are a big reason why the Stallions have attendance issues. When the Iron came, there were enough Millennial and Gen Z folks who either weren’t old enough to remember or weren’t yet alive (me) to remember any other alt-league team so as the older Birmingham folks were treating the Iron like everyone here is treating the Stallions now, younger folks were embracing the Iron and showing up in pretty good numbers and reacting to the Iron like St. Louis is the Battlehawks. The Iron was the only pro football team we’d ever known in Birmingham so I guess we assumed them and the AAF would last forever. But then the AAF folded suddenly mid season and all of those Millennial and Gen Z people got that same bad taste in their mouths as well. All of this is hurting the Stallions.
All of this is to try to give some context that alot of people are seeming to miss - the Stallions' attendance issues are rooted in a long history of broken promises by various leagues. Moving the team would only deepen the scars left by past failures. The league needs to continue to invest in Birmingham and give the city a reason to believe that this time will be different. You can’t half a$$ marketing in a city with such deep trauma and then point the finger back at the city when attendance is a little low.
