I had a flu in early May and felt very ill; all symptoms (sore throat, cold, headache) were amplified and kept me in bed for several days, as if I had COVID. Even after the flu passed, I continued to experience throat lumps and headaches, along with excessive tiredness that rest did not alleviate.
I maintain a fairly balanced diet and engage in regular physical activity. I am physically at a normal weight.

2024.05.16 15:15 Appropriate_Race_226 AITA because I (21M) yelled and flipped out at my (20F) sister for bullying me?

Growing up, my sister and I were somewhat competitive but got along for the most part. We could play each other in sports, and although she was the better athlete, I always had the upper hand being a guy. Fast forward to today, my sister was a “late developer” and had a growth spurt and ended up getting a scholarship to row in college. She has become obsessed with lifting and does CrossFit competitions and other stuff like that. I’m happy for her, but her personality has changed because of this. She likes to comment how strong she is, and loves to put her hands around my wrists, pick me up etc… she also enjoys play wrestling me, which used to be funny when we were younger, but I no longer enjoy these competitions as I’m concerned about getting hurt due to our strength difference. I’ve tried to tell my parents this but they just laugh it off.
Las weekend we had friends over (we have mutual friends) and she had a few drinks and picked me up over her shoulder. She ended up slipping and dropping me on the ground and everybody was laughing. I was really upset and screamed at her about how she doesn’t respect me and the rowing and lifting has gotten to her head. Thankfully I wasn’t hurt but my shirt got all wet. I also threw my glass on the ground outside, causing it to shatter. She and my other friends think I overreacted but I refuse to apologize. The next morning she confronted me and told me to go clean the glass and I said not until she apologizes and.
AITA for yelling at her and shattering my glass on the ground?

I'm currently in anorexia recovery, and, well, why tf does everyone think it's a good idea to praise me when I tell them how much I ate during a binge eating episode? Switching between anorexia and binge eating does NOT mean I'm recovering. I also get weighed every week, and every time I gain weight, they tell me how proud they are of me. Anorexia always made me feel less lonely, it was something that made others notice how badly I was doing, almost like a call for help. It made people care. Now, they're showing me so much love for this, and it's ruining my life. How do I stop when everyone just keeps praising me for it, just like they did when I started losing weight through restricting? The whole cycle is repeating, just in the exact opposite direction. Everyone around me is so clueless, and yet I yearn to be loved so badly it's actually mad embarrassing for me lol

Warning : this is probably the longest post I've ever written. It's awful. If you're expecting something short, run for your safety. Otherwise, take your time and have fun.
So Kaiser and Ness have always been pretty interesting characters since their introduction, but with the most recent chapters and especially ever since the Ness flashback, things have been intensifying and there's a lot going on around these two, especially with potential developments that might happen during the PxG match. Definitely some of my favorite characters in the story thematically.
This will be a huge post analyzing, dissecting and aiming to understand the psyches of both Ness and Kaiser, by following their stories individually, as well as how they intertwine together, how their pattern of relationship is very important to the story as a whole, as well as trying to review a lot of information in hindsight that might make a lot more sense now that we virtually have their entire stories.

Part I : Ness, the Wizard

So it all starts with Alexis Ness, a German kid born into a very stereotypical scientist family of reddit atheists, as well as the following sentence : "(my parents) taught me that it's possible to explain everything that happens on earth".

This first sentence already sets a very important tone with Ness' character. He is dreamy, he's a child full of wonder with a bit of an obsession for finding magic in things, born into a family that dismisses the existence of unexplainable concepts as a whole and lambasts him for believing in them at all, even as a child. Ness is an irrational being, born into an extremely rational environment, and that fact alone alienates him from his passion, and drives him to keep going until he finds something or someone that will understand him.
Ness has a passion for the unexplainable, not the scientific unexplainable, but more the "incredible" unexplainable, things that seem too fantastic to be believed at first, and yet are still true. He also assimilates his sadness with the lack of understanding from his family among the things that he deems to be unexplainable, whether by his family or himself. Ness has a passion for magic, cannot explain why, and that's part of why he believes in magic so much. His passion is self defined.
And that passion for seeking magic in things, is also what drives him to soccer. The joy that people feel, the roaring fans, the celebrations that come from goals, Ness feels as though soccer is what will allow him to truly bring magic into this world. Which is why I theorize, that with Ness' drive for playing soccer being to bring magic on the field, he might be a self-type ego that seeks to bring magic, the same way Barou seeks the feeling of being the king of the field, or Bachira to become one with the ball (this is a very common theme with self type egos, I might make a post about this one of these days). This is a very important point if we want to understand where Ness' current development in the PxG match could be going.

Ness then takes matters into his own hands and trains relentlessly to pass the Bastard Munchen tryouts, the best club in Germany, so he can have a shot at turning his dream into reality. Ness plays quite well and even shows skills that should allow him to be better than the current BM selection, but he runs into a massive problem ; his individual skills do allow him to keep up, but his plays are ineffective. His magic doesn't work on the world, and the biggest reason why is that no one on the field can keep up with his thinking. Ness lacks the partner that will help make his vision come true.

And that's when a certain someone makes their appearance.

Part II : Kaiser, the Blue Rose

It all starts with Michael Kaiser, a different German child with a very different upbringing, but whose destiny would end up crossing paths with that of Ness.
Kaiser grew up in the ashes of a destroyed family. His dad was a theatre director, his mom was an actress, who ended up leaving his dad soon after his birth. His father, unable to bear the weight of both an unwanted child and a failed love life, ended up sinking into alcoholism, gambling addiction and domestic violence.
His father having wasted his fortune completely and being unwilling to work, Kaiser was forced to learn how to steal very early in his life, but his disgusting father's self loathing, resentment and regret towards Michael's mother still ended up reaching him through his father's constant abuse. The treatment he got from his father was the only definition of love Kaiser has ever had, and he ended up internalizing this notion, as well as the feeling that he was not wanted in this world.

Kaiser grew up, and started saving up money from selling the more valuable items that he would steal. For his twelfth birthday, he decided to buy something for himself that would actually allow him to feel alive and closer to his far away objective of leaving his father one day. And that is how he stumbled upon football.
Unlike Ness however, who developed a passion for football simply because he saw magic in it, Kaiser developed an unhealthy attachment to football that would mimic his relationship to his father. It didn't matter how much he abused the ball, the ball wouldn't respond or protest, it'd just stay by his side silently. Kaiser saw in the ball the same form of attachment that his father showed him, he saw himself in the ball, an unwanted piece of trash that would silently take the abuse that was dished out to him. Because that was the only behavior that his father ever showed to him, Kaiser ended up assimilating abuse and violence to love. That is how Kaiser became an abuser himself, which is a very important facet of his character : cycles repeat themselves, and abusers create potential future abusers.

Where Kaiser's story really begins though is when he is framed for a crime he didn't commit and the police enter their home for a search. Kaiser gets hit by his dad, the police find the money he was keeping from his father, and he's about to lose everything that would allow him to leave this life. Kaiser, at that moment, accepts the abuse again, and decides against his own heart that he'd simply take whatever sentence he gets and start saving up money again once he's out. He instinctively changes his mind when his dad decides to poke a few holes into his soccer ball though.

Though Kaiser has an awful definition of what love or attachment really is, the love that he developed for football was still as pure as he could muster. And instinctively, as he sees his father about to destroy the only thing he's ever managed to feel attachment towards, Kaiser rises against the odds and fights as hard as he can. As the narrator says it himself, this is when Kaiser's identity was truly born. This is another very important element that we'll have to keep for later.

Kaiser then goes on to get scouted by a certain PIFA executive named Ray Dark, who heard of the fact that he managed to take out multiple police officers with just a soccer ball. Kaiser is encouraged by Ray Dark to pass the BM tryouts, and is already determined to get as far away as possible from his former life, and this is where Kaiser's ego starts to badly mutate from its purest form, all because of the consequences of his father's abusive behavior : Kaiser is incapable of accepting any form of kindness and is very incline to violence.
Kaiser, from the second he enters the facility and starts training with the rest of the potential recruits, manages to make enemies through his extremely antagonistic behavior. He consistently picks fights, which obviously leads to situations where he's systematically in the wrong, and to people refusing to play with him in the moments that matter the most. This is where the Kaiser Impact is born ; Kaiser decides to create a weapon that won't just help him, but make sure he asserts full and total dominance over others. But he doesn't stop there.

Kaiser starts studying elements of psychology, and his goal is strictly to find out how to manipulate someone and make sure that they would serve him during matches. He needed a lackey, that would serve him under all circumstances, and the best way to find that lackey was to find someone that was close to breaking under pressure and despair.
And this is where the BM tryouts start.

Part III : Perspectives

This is where the duo meets for the first time, and their perspectives on the situation are very different from one another, but very similar in one aspect : they provide each other with what they need.

Ness starts out the BM tryout match very hopeful, but realizes that his individual abilities are his only functional tool and that he can't manage to spark magic with the teammates that he currently has. Ness is in a situation of despair, where he is realizing that he might not make it, and that his family was right to treat him the way they did.
Kaiser in the meantime, is in the exact opposite situation. He is alone, certainly, but also not worried : all he is doing is looking for someone with good enough skills, and in a precarious situation whose heart he can safely erode and tame. Ness needs someone to show him that magic does exist ; Kaiser needs a lackey that he can use to reach his goals. Ness needs a friend, Kaiser needs a test subject. Their relationship, is by definition profoundly unequal, and for that reason, Kaiser is also the only one of the two to be aware of that fact.

The rest of the match is pretty obvious : Ness finds a good partner to make his imagination come to fruition, Kaiser finds a dog to feed him passes, they get a hat trick together and are selected for the BM team. The important point though, is that Ness didn't actually find despair in that match : he was on the brink of realizing that he couldn't bring magic alone, but the second he was about to either give up or awaken, Kaiser came to him and became his provider for the magic he was seeking. That is the best way to make Ness' ego, his very being, dependent on Kaiser's existence.
This panel shows this best : Ness' play would've been suboptimal for anyone else, his magic would not have been sufficient for a different player. Kaiser's individual ability however, is so overwhelming that he effortlessly brings Ness the magic he seeks. Ness' magic wouldn't have worked if it wasn't for Kaiser.
Ness has never known what it feels like to create magic alone, and therefore he associates magic to Kaiser's presence. If Kaiser himself fails, that implies a personal failure on Ness' part since it means his magic didn't function. That's an extremely important element to understand for the codependency element of these two characters, and that's part of the reason why Ness has constantly been extremely defensive of every single one of Kaiser's failures so far in the story : the same way Kaiser's dream slowly became his own, his failures feel just as much his as they are Kaiser's.

Kaiser then goes on to become a very vicious player that specifically tries to scar his opponents as much as possible. The impossibility that Kaiser strives for, has become something he wants to incarnate for his opponents, an impossible behemoth to slay, the same way his dad was to him. Kaiser acknowledges this, however he associates the feeling of losing to such impossibility to weakness. To Kaiser, the fact that he let his father mistreat him for that long seems to be proof that he used to be a weak person, and that the true way to fight is to become just as evil and incarnate that feeling of impossibility to other people, as he says it to Ness : "Believing in the impossible is a curse, the instant people believe in the impossible is when they decide to give up. It's a survival instinct to guard against heartbreak, that's the way of weaklings, they kill themselves through this curse. Weaklings who dilute the purity of their egos to live longer are what I hate most in this world".
Kaiser has rationalized the abuse that he has gone through by assimilating his behavior to weakness, instead of recognizing this was the behavior of a child trying desperately to survive against impossible odds. The fact that he sees his past behavior as such and that he decided that he should become an abuser himself to get power back over his life, is already proof that his father's abuse won over his ego, and he doesn't know it himself. This is why his ego is fragile and diluted, and that's how he lost his way.

Part IV : The reality of impossibility

This is where the NEL comes in. From what we know of Kaiser's objectives with the NEL, he has come to crush the local japanese ace, to give himself a publicity boost that would either prove to the world that he isn't inferior to Noel Noa, or to get himself a contract that would allow him to get out of his current club, both so he could compete with Noa in a less direct way, and therefore not have to face the impossible task that is destroying the system that has been built around him.
Both his intention of trying to destroy Isagi by showing him how impossible it is to beat him, and his intention to avoid beating Noa directly by instead trying to publicize himself as being a striker of equal mettle, show how his ego has been twisted from what it originally was : Kaiser has become addicted to the feeling of incarnating impossibility to other players and crushing them, and he has become very avoidant of any challenges that could seem impossible to him, the same way his father's abuse seemed impossible to overcome. He has created himself a predatory mentality unfit for a competitor, and he did it all as a survival mechanism to fight against impossible odds.
The problem really starts however, when his plan backfires, and it turns out the japanese ace specifically thrives on impossible challenges and does not stop improving. Isagi Yoichi, by the time of the PxG match, has become the incarnation of the impossible odds that Kaiser usually wants to avoid, but this time he is conflicted since Isagi is also the exact type of player that Kaiser wants to crush : he is forced to face his own fear, and the more the odds are against him, the more impossibility will catch up to Kaiser. Which is exactly what might lead to Ness' awakening.

Since Ness attributes his magic to Kaiser's success, seeing Kaiser fail (and maybe even resent him for it), is most likely what will bring Ness to the pit of despair that he got to escape from back in the BM tryouts. Ness will have to face his fear of not being able to bring magic to the world alone. And with what's been foreshadowed, I believe Ness' awakening will come with some sort of cooperation with Isagi, which in turn will make Kaiser realize that he is back to facing the impossible behemoth that he faced not so long ago. This is what will make him revert to his purest ego. But what is his purest ego exactly ?

Final part : Conclusions, and Kaiser's true ego

We finally get to the part where I stop holding everything back and I tell what's on my mind.
  1. I'll start with something very important : duos in Blue Lock are always doomed unless they become more than the sum of their parts.
Kaiser and Ness' duo made me realize it, especially with their very obvious parallels to Reo and Nagi, but duos often start out with one of the players (and sometimes both players) attributing a part of their ego to their partner. That right there, is exactly how egos are stifled.
In the case of Kaiser, though his intention was to manipulate Ness, he ended up creating an association in Ness' mind where though Ness sees his purpose in life to bring magic through football, he attributes his ability to bring magic to Kaiser, which means that in Ness' mind, he is incapable of doing it alone. I don't believe that's the case, but for Ness to prove it to himself, he has to try doing it first. The PxG match is the perfect opportunity for this, but that's not all.

Sae and Rin are also a very important example of this, since Sae knew from the start that having Rin associate him to his ego and use him as a reason to play football was a death sentence for both of them. I believe that Sae truly does want to win the Champion's league with his brother, but has let go of that dream and has tried to force Rin to do it as well to make sure both of them would reach their potential before hitting the wall that is the world level.
Reo has always attributed his dream of winning the world cup to the fact that he has Nagi by his side, and cannot really imagine achieving this dream without him. However, if Reo truly wants to evolve, I'm sure a lot of you are already anticipating this, but he has to let go of Nagi and evolve alone, which he most likely will do during the Manshine-Barcha match. Nagi himself doesn't have an objective, and has always improved as a player with the intention of helping Reo achieve his dream, which means that part of his ego is simply helping another player achieve his. Unless the both of them seperate at least temporarily, then Reo will never gain the confidence to achieve his dream alone, Nagi will never gain the ego to have his own dream and play football for the sake of his own passion, and neither of them will be able to cooperate on their common vision of winning together. And the way I know all of this ?
Is because Isagi and Bachira have already showed us the path of how a good duo functions. Bachira almost never awakened his true ego all because his loneliness made him see Isagi as essential to his well being, it forced him to look for players that would be able to keep up with his best football, and when he found them, he already thought he had won. Bachira realized that the only way he could keep playing with the players he admires and wants to rival, is by believing in his way of playing football instead of putting his belief in someone else. This is how duos survive : by having both players becoming better and fulfilled individually, and constantly pushing each other to individually become better before they rely on each other for victory.

  1. To get back to Kaiser and Ness, what that means is that Ness' evolution has to come at the cost of his dependence on Kaiser, and Kaiser's evolution has to come at the cost of the introspection he has to do to understand where his true nature comes from : this specific moment.

My belief is that Kaiser's ego to incarnate the impossible isn't actually wrong, it's just taken from the wrong perspective. What Kaiser was since the very start, isn't a mindless perpatrator of violence that does it out of pleasure for crushing others : What Kaiser is, is a survivor.

No matter how tough the situation, no matter how much his father beat him, Kaiser never stopped believing or dreaming that he would one day free himself from his situation and rise against adversity. It might've been a small flame at first, but when his ego truly awakened was when he actually fought back for the first time. Kaiser isn't an impossible being because he is an unbeatable, violent monster, he is an impossible being because he rises against impossible odds no matter what.
\"The boy dreamed about going on a journey someday.\"
He is unfathomably resilient, and that is something that was very specifically cultivated from his experience of victimhood : Kaiser couldn't have become this kind of person if he was simply an abuser the same way his father was (which is currently what is stifling his ego), the only way he can be this impossible being is by going through what he did and surviving.
And in fact, that's also something that been shown in the manga already. After all, the only moment so far where Kaiser has showed us what could be his greatest performance, was when he had to rely on a play Isagi made to get a goal opportunity, and managed to beat 4 defenders (one of them being the best U20), culminating in a goal that's impossible to replicate even for the greatest players. Kaiser might be a self type ego that seeks impossible situations to reach flow.

A player's personality is often reflected through their playstyle : that's the case with Kaiser, with his KI symbolizing his impossible dominance, and his MV symbolizing his manipulative way of playing with people ; which is why I don't believe it's a coincidence that the one time Kaiser has truly made a play no one else could replicate was when all odds were against him. And yet ironically, this is also the goal that Kaiser hates the most, because he still hates his younger self for not having fought back until the last moment. What he sees as weakness, is what is actually his greatest strength.

I am venting and seeking advice at the same time.
Today my husband was asking for space while I literally am being met over and over again with the silent treatment on top of the repetitive physical distance (like him saying he needs space but only he knows for how long. But all he said is he needs space). This is everytime I voice how I feel that leads up to an argument or whenever I can’t accept things, it has gotten to the point where I have been begging him to stay. After every single argument, just to see him leave.
Last night was the first time where he was sitting next to me after months of neglect and having to deal with my voices and anxiety alone. On top of disrespecting myself in begging him to stay and seeing him leave though the door over and over again in my head. Hence I couldn’t accept it yesterday. I know this is unfair but I can’t help but think “Why now? Why didn’t you do this before? How dare you? Honestly maybe I like being alone more now even if my thoughts are dark.. etc etc” It’s hard… I am aware that we are humans and I want to give myself grace but I keep fighting. Fighting for his love. While I’m empty yet giving unconditional love. Only to see him walk out of the door multiple times to trigger my abandonment issues. Don’t get me wrong now, he went through hell fire in his childhood too. Got bullied in school for years because of both parents abandoning him and him growing up with his grandparents from his mom’s side. Me too, just that my parents were physically there but emotionally so absent that I always wondered why I’m even here and secretly wished they weren’t so I could at least say that they were absent like he does… Now I am not saying mine is bigger or his is. It’s never a competition of pain. But when it comes to him it feels like it is always justified and he once just pulls away cause needs space and I ALWAYS check up on him. Because I’m aware of this trauma and try to accommodate. This time however I vowed to let him come to me first cause I am TIRED of doing so over a year now and being the person to keep pushing despite being done myself. And then getting punished instead of being appreciated for it. And feeling like he just (doesn’t or?) simply can’t be there for me like that anymore. I feel like it’s selfish of him but idk if I can even claim that cause I see how depressed he looks and behaves…. It’s just a lot and I am extremely confused after being neglected for so long even if it’s “justified” from his side… For now, I am just taking time out to spend with my loved ones since I have been neglecting them for a long time in the process. And taking their word for staying quiet just to see if he will reach out first since they’re aware of the situation and me being the person who always does this.
Financially I am also thinking where all the money goes considering he keeps getting fines and got into an accident twice this past year. Where he had to file for an insurance claim but couldn’t because of the language barrier. I help him with those things now, from mails to paperwork for his fines, and many more.. But it takes such a mental toll on me that I have no energy left to think about what I want to do, what I want for the future, for my life, for my work, etc etc. He seems to be so absent minded and forgetful nowadays that it feels like I married a different man for months than the one I fell in love with. He was so active, considerate and understanding. Idk who this man is anymore other than feeling like I am talking to a wall and who prefers his alone time smoking away his cigarettes more than being with me. Any concern i voice is seen as nagging, even if done in an compassionate and understanding manner (which I admit is hard for me cause I used to have a short fuse but I have worked so hard for it and can’t help but feel resentment. Even if he says he is over it. His actions prove otherwise) and how I should have more understanding for him instead of telling him that he is slacking off. Because then he either leaves again or starts to blame himself to the point where he says I’m better off without him even when I beg him to work on himself cause I see his potential. Scheduling his payments etc etc. He was extremely responsible and financially aware! I have tried to talk him into counselling and if marriage counselling is something he is open for? Considering his trauma from childhood he has complex PTSD and doesn’t ever open up. I understand and I always tried my best to make him feel safe and that it’s okay to cry as a man and what not because i genuinely feel bad for him and it hurts to see him like that. He also stated that he cried in front of me for the first time ever and that he never opens up to anyone and he only was able to do so with him so he doesn’t really see how counseling will help… And when I try to plan counselling, something always comes up like now where it gets delayed again.. So we keep postponing it. Plus I have to plan everything. From date nights. To even my own birthday get away. (And I am sorry to say this but even my exes at least got me a birthday cake or flowers??) I may not look the prettiest like when we started dating since I gained some weight after 3 miscarriages and the hormones but I am trying my best to workout. Just to see him be happy for me but not really doing so himself… He does it once or twice and now we both stopped again. It’s like a continuous limbo we are in. I’m really at a loss for words and feel so disassociating and lost. That I’m not sure if I’m just simply the problem…
Household chores wise I do the cooking and vacuuming. He does the laundry (sometimes me too), dishes and cleans the bathroom/ sinks.

Hello, I would like to describe my current health issue to you, including my hypotheses about what might be causing it. I would like to hear your opinions on what it might be and how I should proceed. Keep in mind that I am already undergoing medical consultations and will have more, but so far, I have not reached a conclusion, so I would like as many opinions as possible.

For about two years, I have been experiencing facial pain and throat inflammation. I have never had these issues before. They started occurring after I had COVID-19, and I'm not sure if this is coincidental or a consequence of the virus. Initially, these pains were infrequent and mild, but in the past few months, they have become much more frequent and intense, significantly affecting my productivity, energy, and concentration. The pain is mostly noticeable upon waking, but sometimes it persists throughout the day. When the pain is less intense, it almost completely disappears after breakfast or lunch. However, when it is more severe, it doesn't go away at all, forcing me to rest in bed. Sometimes, even taking Tylenol does not relieve the pain.
The facial pain is located under my cheekbones, along my jaw, behind my eyes, and when it's very intense, at the center of my head just above my nose. The pain is continuous on both sides of my face and does not worsen with touch.
As for my throat, it feels like there's a constant lump at the lower part, as if it were scratched. It hurts continuously, not just when I swallow.
These pains occur year-round, regardless of the season.
Regarding medical checks and existing conditions, here are the details:
These issues also cause poor sleep quality. Despite sleeping for 7-8 hours, I wake up feeling tired and as if I need more rest, even if I did not exert myself physically or mentally the previous day.
From the beginning of May onwards, I experienced two weeks where every day I had a sore throat, headaches, and excessive tiredness, despite having taken antihistamines and cortisone spray for more than 20 days in April. I had a flu in early May and felt very ill; all symptoms (sore throat, cold, headache) were amplified and kept me in bed for several days, as if I had COVID. Even after the flu passed, I continued to experience throat lumps and headaches, along with excessive tiredness that rest did not alleviate.
I maintain a fairly balanced diet and engage in regular physical activity. I am physically at a normal weight.

Over the last two years I switched from a fairly active customer service job to an office/desk job, and went onto a medication that can cause weight gain. I began heavy lifting and instantly put on a lot of muscle mass, however I did not lose any fat while gaining this muscle. Now I’m looking to cut dramatically. The last 2 months I’ve been doing a 40-60 minute intense Stairmaster workout at least 4 days a week and have not seen any significant changes in my weight or appearance. I eat fairly healthy, and stay hydrated constantly. I really think the medication I’m on is having a big impact of not being able to lose fat retention. Any suggestions?

when i was younger my family was happy, i guess. I was adopted by my grandparents officially when i was younger and i had been living with them my entire life. I grew up with sensory disorder and ADHD. My real mother wasn't really in my life until about 4 years ago. I never knew my real dad and i have never met him but i always knew my real mom. She used to live with me and my grandparents who i call 'mom and dad' because they took care of me most of my life. She always lived outside in an apartment my dad made for her. She then moved away. She moved a lot and never was really in my life completely. By the time I was adopted by my grandparents she was legally my sibling. She always was having boyfriends and brought some of them over for family holidays. I was bullied growing up since I was in first grade for no reason i knew about. All i knew was i was the school freak. When i was little i hardly ate much as well but i was still called 'fat'. Whenever i sung i was laughed at. I was actually good at singing and i loved to sing when I was little as well as dance. My legally sister (aka real mother) tells me now and days i was the bully growing up and i was sexual as a little kid when i wasn't. growing up i also had anger issues and nobody knew why. My mom (aka grandmother who adopted me) told me it because i was mad at my sister. my mental health started going downhill quickly when i was about starting middle the next year. i was getting bullied a lot more and my 'friend' was mean to me for no reason at all.i was at a christian private school at that time. I got blamed for put stick notes on other sticky notes in a prize container when i didn't. i was friends with everyone in that class. only one of them believed me. but when the others were told that i didnt do it they were acting sorry. one my best friend's at that time little brother had a crush on me. when i went to her house to hang out her brother was acting like a perve a little bit and was asking sexual stuff.i never liked school at all because the city and town i lived in didnt do crap when i was bullied and the principles were told. And around this time my sister came to live in the town i live right now.she gotten married. But she was toxic to everyone. Her husband's friends lived with them as roommates and my sister was abusive to them. when she was babysitting me during that time she would stab one of them in the arm with a medicine syringe you take medicine from.this kept going till that roommate left and then the next one was gone. my sister's husband had passed away when i was in middle school starting the first year of it. my sister was then toxic to me a lot. and since she was my real mom at one point i called her 'mom' all the time till she was toxic to me.she also always told me she couldnt have children. apparently, there was another before me and it was a miscarriage. i will mention this, my sister is known in my family to be a liar about everything from getting gifts for us, receiving it, not stealing, and most of the time children. About every 2 years she claims to be 'pregnant' with a kid but apparently, they all end up dying after they are born or are miscarriages. i was the only kid she had ever.and plus she always blamed me for stealing her stuff even her gun and hiding it under my bed at my mom's when i cant even put a phone under there cause the bed is really low to the ground. now onto my dad (my grandpa who adopted me with my grandma).me and my dad were really close when i was growing up.i was his little princess. That stopped happening after i came out as bisexual and genderfluid 4 years ago. And let me tell you my dad was born in the 50's so he grew up being raciest and homophobic. I was the only child he raised as his own. my sister was his stepdaughter and during that time her real dad never let my dad adopt her as his own.i kept telling my dad about things i liked that we loved together growing up. my dad was toxic to me in my middle school years up until now. He would verbally abuse me and threaten me. he even hit me before in front of my mom and she told the police that he never did. The police were called a lot cause of my anger and yelling. The police where i live never believe the kids about anything saying they dont have any rights like to clothes, a bed, sometimes to speak, to things they buy with their own money, and one even told me i didn't have a right to my own body.i was being bullied every more in school so i was getting depressed and mentally unstable. For my 3 or 5 time there my dad took me to the hospital to get 'diagnosed' but he lied.i had just gotten out of another mental hospital 2 days before for being depressed and i was there for 2 weeks so i needed to get adjusted to being out of there.and when we were at the hospital the doctor came in after talking to my dad and told me 'your being sent to *name of mental hospital i was at 8 times* for sewerslidal (not gonna say the actual word) thoughts'. and i was confused at first and i told him i was having those thoughts at all. and then he told me i was being sent there anyways and then left the room. Then my dad came in and said this directly at me, 'this is what happens when you dont go to school'. i was shocked and upset about this.he lied to the doctor and i was sent to that mental hospital again for it.i never forgave him for that.i was also sent to a behavior facility twice before. one for anger and the other for SH. neither times did it work.i was an SHing person a lot so i had different ways to hide it. like hoodies, long sleeve tee shirts finally, longer shorts, gloves, and short sleeved shirts that covered my shoulders. right now im in high school and i guess my dad is trying to rekindle our relationship because he is that old already. He is nicer now but about 2 months ago he was a jerk. my mom didnt listen to my feelings during these times so i never talked to her about feelings but when she wanted to and i tried to tell her she always interuppeted me and never let me talk and told me to shut up. my sister had moved in my dad's house recently because she bought it because he retired. my dad is planning on moving to my mom's place with me.and now here is an old relationship i need to talk about badly because my sister says i agreed to most of it when i didnt. it was my last year of middle school when it happened. i was already at a different school. And then at school during lunch in the cafeteria while we were sitting with our friends at lunch he would touch me badly and threaten to do it more if i didnt eat or would do it anyway.i didnt eat much back then cause i was trying to lose weight, was having an eating disorder where i got sick every time i even at at least 2/4 of my meal. I didnt tell anyone this until last summer.i was still with him at the beginning of summer till my current boyfriend started talking to me on roblox after years of not talking because he moved while i was in 4th grade.he was a good friend. my current boyfriend told me what my ex was doing wrong at that time so i did the right thing and broke up with my ex.but my ex did scare me badly. He threatened to kill someone for me. i was terrified at that. He also had a spilt personality he would talk to me with a lot of the time. Then after a month of me breaking up with him my current boyfriend and me got together. He was a little toxic at first but he got better and was really nice to me. but we are in a long distance relationship. We talk a lot on discord and do video calls when we can.i was at 2 different public school this year.neither of them cared about what was happening to me so i started online school.i didnt go to either of them cause i was still bullied i couldnt handle it.and then when i started online school the teachers for that school accused me of not doing my work when i did them days in advance.i was doing really good but if i got most of the questions right on the quiz i still failed it.i would get 90% out of the question right and still get an f on the quiz.i started failing those classes and i was stressed with the video meetings cause there would be one right after another.i didnt get to pick my electives at all because the day i got the papers to see which ones i wanted they already picked them for me.and my dad was being a jerk the entire time as well as my sister so i was getting to a point of relaspe but didnt. im still kinda on that point but not that much.i dont go to therapy or a medication doctor anymore because the medication doctor kept telling me to lose weight when i was trying to, told my parents to send me to a children's home because i was not going to school because of the bullying and my regular doctor i had been seeing since i was a baby said the same because i was 'fakeing' being sick.i wasnt sick though but i was having an eating disorder still during that time to the point i was throwing up everything in my body every time i ate more than 6 bites of food.even the foods that were easy to eat i couldnt eat.and the reason i dont go to therapy is because all the ones i went to as a kid fired us for no reason and then a family counselor did the same thing because i was being rude.i was rude at all but i was pissed during that time cause i never got to talk and tell my side of the story and my family kept saying that raising my voice volume just a small bit was yelling and they still say that and my sister does the same with the voice volume but they dont say she is yelling when she is.if you guys have any of advice to help with any of this thank you.i have been wanting to vent for a long time but i didnt have a way to until now.

2024.05.16 14:05 dora_la_destruidora 3rd day of no nicotine, need some encouragement and advice

27F, smoked for 10 years, from 2020 to 2023 the daily amount was approaching 2 packs a day, for the last 6 months it's been like 12-14 a day on average, or even 10 and less (moved to an apartment where i can't smoke inside but i can smoke on the balcony, which naturally decreased the frequency of smoke breaks).
quitting backstory: since the beginning of may 2024, i started getting violent headaches that were persistent and didn't go away with NSAIDs. went to a neurologist, was diagnosed with migraines, anti-migraine pills didn't work, a combo aspirine/paracetamol/caffeine drug that is very popular and cheap in my country did work for some reason. so, after a week of suffering, the episode stopped. and resumed 3 days later, i assumed smoking was the reason (the day headaches came back was when i resorted to smoking my usual amount of cigarettes, which is slightly above half a pack). so, i quit, currently on my 3rd day, i guess it works as an anti-migraine measure but at the same time quitting cold turkey turned out really goddamn detrimental to my life, and i need some advice.
the problem: well, first things first, i can't work for shit. i can't concentrate on anything, and all my willpower goes into the "don't smoke" task, so i can't really do anything else. i'm just sitting there with my teeth clenched. also, i'm getting really emotional, i spent the entire morning today crying my eyes out uncontrollably because i hate my job, i hate every second of my life, i hate myself, i hate this and that, and basically everything, and i just want it all to stop. my last 6 months, even if we're excluding the whole debilitating migraines issue, have already been quite stressful due to many things, and now on top of that i have even more stress, and i just can't take it anymore. even my boyfriend who encouraged me a lot to quit smoking due to migraines and is very proud of me finally doing that talked to me today (i called him because i was crying a lot, felt like absolute crap, and needed a distraction so i don't relapse) and suggested weaning off instead because of my current mental state.
what i'm already doing: i can't use stuff like nicotine gum bc i'm quitting nicotine specifically (since it causes vascular problems, which in its turn manifested as migraines) so i use nicotine-free disposable vapes that for some reason die very quickly, and these are a lot more expensive than cigarettes, which pisses me off a lot. however, if i didn't use these, i'd relapse on day 1. also, some other oral fixation treats i'm using: chewing gum (a lot of it, actually), fizzy drinks (coke zero turned out to be the best distraction btw, maybe because it also contains caffeine which is a stimulant too), unhealthy amounts of water, apples. i'm trying not to pacify myself with food because i'm terrified of gaining weight. still, these measures helped me get relatively easily through the first two days but right now i'm a complete mess. i know it's beneficial, and, well, i very much appreciate not having headaches but honestly, i feel so miserable right now. i feel punished for something i didn't do, it's like all the fun things are forbidden, even starting a morning with freshly brewed coffee because it's a trigger. i can't drink, i can't go out at all, the only thing i'm allowed to do is all work no play, and i can't even work because of withdrawals.
the question: if i keep living like that, i may end up losing my job and a lot of people from my surroundings due to me being an angry and miserable mess. i also don't want to be a nuisance to my boyfriend, i'm already a lot, first, this whole migraine shit that rendered me non-functional, now withdrawals. i want to be able to focus on tasks and i want to be fun to hang out with and spend at least a couple days not in tears, what can i do? should i actually wean off instead of cold turkeying myself into unemployment and social isolation?

Hi Guys. Long standing Obese - Type 2 Diabetes here. My Diabetes started after my Open Heart Surgery back in 2011, when I was loaded up with Heart medication to weaken the heatbeats (I had an Aorta dissection, and received an artifical valve and an aorta prothesis.) and numerous medication for high blood pressure. The combination of these medication and the inability to do any excercise caused me to gain weight sending me down the path of obesity and type 2 DIabetes. This is not an excuse at all. This is entirely my own fault as I did not watch what I eat as much as this medication would require it. But hey. I am on the bandwagon now so this is what I have to deal with.
**The one I want to talk about, is the Phimosis (fungal infection causing tightening of the foreskin and cracking of the foreskin)
I was very surprised that when I searched the community here I did not find a single thread that discusses this.**
So one of my medication Synjardy (In Europe) causes the kidney to allow the accumulation/passing through of glucose in to the urine, thus allowing the excess glucose to empty through urination. This is good because we are able to further reduce the blood glucose. But bad news in the pee-pee department because the high glucose in the urine gives way to fungal infections that sometimes manifests in a tightening of the foreskin, and cracking of the skin that can get infected underneath. Now certainly Synjardy comes with a set of instruction to drink at least a glass o water at each urination to prevent dehydration, and to wash the pee-pee after each urination. This is all well and good but we live, we work, and in some situations the washing is just not feasible until we get home. My question to the community. How do you guys combat the infection? Is there any "magic" treatment or cream or ointment you use that makes it manageable the whole thing?
I want so share what has been working for me, but still sometimes (especially in summer can catch us out).
My regime - Antifungal cream for the glans -General Antiseptic ointment/cream for the foreskin on the outside area (A sort of "nappy rush cream").
Please do share because I bet that a lot of us suffering from this. I am not using a throwaway account because who cares. I understand that this is an embarassing and almost taboo subject but we need to share best practices.

Hi everyone, I’m using a throwaway for this because I don’t want this attached to my main account. I hope this isn’t too blog-y or anything for this sub, I’ve just really needed to get all of this off my chest and I’ve been thinking about it a lot over the past few days. I also hope it can be a warning for anyone who sees it and has gone too far into the online system community.
This is a fucking novel and I apologize in advance. I just have a lot I want to get off my chest, and I also hope that it could potentially be educational to anyone in the system community hate-reading this sub.
Quick warning for brief mentions of suicidal ideation and self harm.
I’m 23 (turning 24) this year, and I started to believe I had DID in 2019, when I was 18 (about a month or so away from turning 19). I had just started college. For context, writing has been my main hobby ever since early childhood, and I was also into roleplaying my original characters. I was EXTREMELY connected to my characters, I basically thought about them all the time. I spent the majority of my free time developing them, thinking about them, and writing or roleplaying. I even wrote and roleplayed during high school in the middle of class.
I started to believe I had DID whenever I talked to someone else about it and started to feel like my connection to my characters was abnormal. My main thought process was that I was so attached to them that it actually affected how I behaved. For example, if I was fixated on a certain character, I would find myself acting more like them or dressing more like them. I also started to over-analyze past behavior; the main thing that came to mind were the times when I was 14 and I would “talk” to my characters in my head, and there was also a particular instance where my handwriting would change to look more like how I imagined a certain character’s handwriting.
I also started to overthink because I had both childhood trauma and (then-recent) trauma from my teenage years, and during those events, I always used writing and roleplaying to cope. I was already prone to dissociation and had an extremely overactive imagination.
Within a day or so of starting to think I had DID, I “switched.” Basically one of my characters “fronted” for a little over an hour, and then I came-to with barely any memory of that past hour. Of course, prior to thinking I had DID, I never had any large memory gaps or loss of memory that caused me or anyone else any type of concern. The only things I ever struggled to remember were things related to my trauma, which is normal (to my knowledge anyways).
So after this I became pretty convinced I had DID, and then I discovered DissociaDID within a few days of this. I thought she was a legitimate source of information and an accurate portrayal of DID, because before her, the only other portrayals of DID that I saw were either horror movie shit or very extreme cases. I saw myself a lot in her because she was around my age, queer (like me), and a little alternative in her presentation. So I binged her videos and this only further fed into my delusion.
This was all within the span of a week. I had therapy on that Friday so I talked to my therapist about it. I’d also like to note that my therapist had been seeing me pretty consistently since I was 12, and had never caught on to anything that could signal that I had DID. When I told him about everything I was experiencing, we looked at the DSM entry for it together, and he basically told me that he couldn’t diagnose me and he had no experience treating DID, but if I was experiencing everything that I said I was experiencing, I should try to find a specialist or a psychiatrist. He gave me a few numbers but I was too scared to contact them. I also never brought up DID or my “alters” again with him because I was too embarrassed to, even though I continued to see him for the next year or so.
I also got more involved with the system community, specifically on tumblr. I didn’t use tiktok and I tried to keep my more personal accounts like instagram separate from what I was going through because I didn’t want my family to find out. The next few months were really turbulent and I went through a lot of “splitting” (aka making new roleplay characters and then becoming convinced they were actually alters making themselves known to me), and at one point, I stopped the medication I was taking for my anxiety and OCD because it was making me gain weight.
I’m bringing up my OCD because I believe it was relevant in the DID symptoms I was experiencing. My doctor and my therapist both agreed that I had OCD, and my doctor prescribed me seroquel to treat it. If you don’t know, seroquel is an antipsychotic. I started it a few months prior to the whole DID shit. I think my OCD is relevant because I have a history of intrusive thoughts, especially with anything causing me stress, and I think the instances of my “alters” talking to me were really just intrusive thoughts related to my OCD. Even now, I got an intrusive thought in a different voice that said “why don’t you believe I’m real?”.
Anyways, I quit taking seroquel and my mental health got terrible, and I ended up dropping out of college a few months into my very first semester, which was a decision exacerbated by the fact that I was convinced I had DID. This was towards the end of 2019, and then ofc 2020 happened. I spent the vast majority of 2020 completely isolated except for my immediate family, like a lot of people, and I didn’t have a job or school, so I was just locked inside on the internet all the time and further fueling my DID delusion. Ironically though, I stopped going on system tumblr at all, and around mid-2020 I discovered the DIDcringe sub. Which is pretty fucking hilarious because I was a little active on there for a few weeks or so, and I HATED system tiktok, I hated the endo shit, I was just shitting on these people because I thought I was better. I considered myself “medically recognized” and better than everyone in those tiktoks because I didn’t have fictives from anything outside of my own characters, I didn’t cosplay, and for what it’s worth I actually did research DID and was distressed by my symptoms. So I thought this made me genuine and different from the tiktok and tumblr fakers. I was really disgusted by the impact of the DID trend and even tried to make a tiktok account dedicated to spreading accurate information about DID, which again is fucking hilarious because I was neck deep in the delusion myself, but I ended up deleting the account before I even made my first video because I got paranoid about my family finding it.
I ended up going back to college in the fall, which ofc was all online because of the pandemic, and around that time I also tried to reach out and join some system discord servers that didn’t allow endos. Even the anti-endo ones were full of the kind of shit you see on this sub, and in both of the ones I joined, I was one of the older members even though I was only 20 at this point. So I left both of them because they were both terrible. Then some more shit happened, my mental health got terrible again, I dropped out of college again, my DID delusion kept getting worse but now I had a superiority complex about it because I thought that I was better than the teenagers with 500 MCYT fictives.
2021 rolled around and my mental health was all over the place, I got a job, I planned on going back to college but I was in a shitty situation with therapy and I was getting worse and worse. Basically, I stopped seeing my old therapist (at his recommendation) because I wanted to try a different EMDR therapist. I started going to the different clinic, but they were worried about giving me EMDR because I told them about the DID symptoms and they had no experience with treating someone with DID. I stayed in regular therapy but I barely saw my therapist, and they ended up discharging me because I missed too many appointments due to the fact that they were online and my connection was usually shitty. So I had no therapy and I was getting worse until I almost attempted suicide in May 2021 and ended up in the ER. Part of the reason why I was in such a bad state was because I felt so alone and scared about what I thought was DID, and I was terrified of never being able to have a normal life.
After the ER, I ended up being able to go to an intensive outpatient group therapy program, which helped me a lot, but again I never talked about DID in group therapy because I was too embarrassed. I told my new psychiatrist about what I was experiencing, and he diagnosed me with PTSD, but he didn’t diagnose me with DID because he wasn’t sure if I had it. This didn’t deter me though because I was two years deep into the delusion that I had it, that I knew my own brain better than doctors, that nothing else could explain my symptoms. And I also thought that he couldn’t diagnose me after one brief visit anyways, so I continued to think I had DID.
I ended up going back to college that fall, and I did really well. Around 2022 I started to get involved with the more “scientific” side of system tumblr and followed a lot of anti-endo blogs. At one point I even made a syscourse blog and got kind of hyperfixated on it which was extremely bad for my mental health. I read a lot of papers about DID and even tried to read a book about it (First Person Plural) but my attention span was just all over the place and I couldn’t focus on it. But I considered myself relatively well-informed about DID, which makes this all even more embarrassing to me, because I couldn’t see my own bullshit.
The worst was when I started delving into RAMCOA uncritically, and due to the way the community talks about it, I started to become scared that I experienced something RAMCOA-adjacent and couldn’t remember. Specifically, I became fixated on this memory of going to my grandma’s church when I was three, and I couldn’t remember what I ended up doing during bible school, so I became convinced something bad could have happened. I had dread surrounding the memory, which I took as a sign that something bad happened, even though the dread was probably just from all the conspiracy theory shit I was reading about children being ritualistically tortured.
There’s not really a climatic end to all of this. I just stopped “switching” more and more, stopped hearing alters, and even when I did think I switched, I wasn’t fully disconnected from myself and still had most if not all of my memories of the switch. I noticed more and more that, during switches, my alters never acted completely independently of me, even if I was convinced I was someone else. For example, my fight or flight response is typically fawning, and during fights, my supposed alters (even the “angry” or assertive ones) would always fawn and act like me when I was panicked. I chalked it all up to me being “co-conscious” and “bleeding through.” But I could never do something completely different from what I would normally do, like yell at people or start fights or physically self harm.
My long term boyfriend and I broke up in 2023 and I also fell out of a friendship in 2023, which were both really stressful and upsetting events for me, but I started to think I didn’t have DID around this time because, if I was going through something this stressful and basically felt awful in every aspect of my life, wouldn’t I be splitting or at the very least switching more? But I wasn’t at all, if anything all of my symptoms started to go away even more. I stopped thinking about it and it all just kind of stopped in general.
I think there was a combination of things happening that made me convinced I had DID. I already had PTSD and dissociative tendencies, so that didn’t help at all. I’ve had dissociative episodes so bad that I couldn’t move. I have other mental illnesses that could explain the intrusive thoughts that I thought were alters. I have both body dysmorphia and gender dysphoria, as well as generally just a lot of self-loathing and hating myself, which fueled my desire to be literally anyone other than myself. I have an extremely vivid imagination and let my anxiety get carried away a lot. I also think I was just young.
So that’s how I lost five years of my life to thinking that I had a severe mental illness that I almost definitely don’t actually have. It’s had a very negative impact on my life. It made me isolate myself from my family and friends, the stress from it made me drop out of college twice. It made me suicidal. I don’t drive because, when I had time to start working on learning how to drive and getting my license, I was terrified I would switch behind the wheel and get into an accident, so now I’m nearing 24 and I can’t drive. It made me delay getting testosterone for my gender dysphoria because I thought that my dysphoria could be linked to just having alters of different genders, so I shouldn’t have transitioned because it could have been DID-related. It made me scared to write and roleplay because I thought I would end up developing introjects of more of my characters. It made me dissociate more heavily and actively indulge in dissociating and triggering myself because I thought it made me more “valid.” It also just made me so disconnected from myself that I barely even knew who I was for five years, I was just a shell of who I used to be and fucking miserable, while actively forcing myself to be other people to cope with the fact I hated myself. Which is ofc the worst way to cope with hating yourself.
I’m just so embarrassed now because I genuinely thought I was better than this and that I was above all of the people misinformed about DID. I even considered myself relatively well-educated on it. I guess that just shows that we can convince ourselves of wild shit. I wish I didn’t spend five years of my life actively making my mental illnesses so much worse, and I wish I didn’t fall into a community that not only enabled but encouraged it.

Description: This is the epic reveal in fight club and DFV has replaced a lot of the words. In the original scene, if you haven't watched fight club, the main protagonist has put the pieces together to realise that he himself is actually the same person as the other protagonist in the film and it was him alone that accidentally setup a sort of movement against the financial elite. In this clip DFV plays off the two characters between DFV and Roaring Kitty.
Speculation: Roaring Kitty was the twitter handle and Youtube profile for Keith Gill where he would speculate on the stock because he just loved doing it. DFV was the reddit handle where he is associated to that other sub i can't mention here but you know where i mean. I think that DFV is saying that what started as a fun speculation of the stock became something bigger than himself with his other channel in DFV on reddit. Now the wheels have moved and in the film it ends with the financial institutions being blown up, perhaps something similar metaphorically is already in place right now. It's actually a great analogy from DFV about his situation.

DFV has changed some of the narrators (Red) words in showcase his story of being wrongly accused in 2021 and having the flee out of the spotlight. He talks about pressure and time, he presents a lot of memes he has created over the years and then shows a particular screenshot of one of his streams.
Speculation: This tells DFVs story but also has some juicy parts. I think Red in this is a bit like the reddit crew (us) keeping tabs on his story but DFV is saying to escape like him it takes pressure and time (could be gamma squeeze, could be LEAPS, could be DRS, could be holding and buying, could be ALL of it) but all it takes is time and pressure. The memes he posted i wonder if some of those have found their way into various subs over the last 3 years without any of us knowing it came from DFV. The steam he screenshot has been spoken about a lot this morning but it seems to come from one of his youtube streams when GME last broke $30.

i apologize if this is weird or inappropriate. please delete if necessary.
i have been struggling with my weight for a few months now. i’m working on losing weight and obviously will be working harder after this past week.
i teach elementary and middle (6-14/15). i understand my younger students don’t necessarily understand what they’re saying so that doesn’t upset me. but it’s the older students that get to me. i know sometimes students do things to get a reaction, so i always play it off and pretend i don’t understand, but i do. it’s not always about the question or who’s asking it, but the amount of times. today i was asked 4 times.
i get asked if i have a “baby in my stomach” almost every day. i’m not sure if it’s the clothing i wear (dresses coming out for spring season, stuff that i think is cute or i feel confident in before the school day) or if i have gained that much weight since moving here. for reference i am 164 cm (5’4”) and 75 kg (165lbs), and i am american. i know i am overweight. maybe it’s my body type? i carry more weight in my stomach and legs. i know sometimes foreigners are usually heavier than Japanese people. i have never felt self conscious about my weight before moving here, and honestly not until my students started asking so often and more and more recently. now i think about it constantly.
does anyone else experience this? none of my local ALTs have but maybe someone here has? i know i can’t ask my students to stop, or expect it to. staff is aware. i know losing weight is likely the best, maybe only, option. it’s been really getting to me, even though i know it shouldn’t. advice and experiences are appreciated. thank you.
