Nach drei der lustigsten Wochen meines Lebens kam die Zeit weiterzugehen. Texas ist ein riesiger Staat; nur Alaska ist großer. Die kontinentalen USA bestehen aus 48 Staaten. Die Landfläche von Texas ist mehr als 8 Prozent des gesamten Landfläche dieser Staaten. Es ist ungefähr 1.300 Kilometer breit und man wird 12 Stunde auf dem Autobahnen, um es zu überfahren. Zum Glück sind die großen Städte in der Nähe einander und wir mussten nur ein paar Stunden gefahren.
Damals hatten wir einen Blog und jemand hat uns vorgeschlagen, Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham zu besuchen. Blue Bell war 1907 gegründet und ist heute einer den fünfmeist verkaufte Eis-Marken der USA. Es war nicht total auf dem Weg, aber wir würden nie näher, also haben wir einen Abstecher gemacht, um gutes Eis zu essen. Das ist nur logisch.
Leider war es Sonntag, deswegen konnten wir eine Fabriktour nicht machen. Nun, das Restaurant war geöffnet und sie haben damals sonntags Eis verkauft. Das ist am Ende das Wichstigste, nein? Also, wir haben Eis verkauft und sind durch die wunderschöne kleine Innenstadt gelaufen. Es gab Grünflächen und Gedenktafeln über die Geschichte der Stadt, meist über Blue Bell Creamery. Es war ein leckerer Abstecher, bevor wir nach San Antonio fuhren.

Hello All!
I have spent quite a bit of time sifting through all food related posts, in hopes of compiling a complete list of the Best Places to eat in each category according to /Houston. My hopes is that we can tune this list and it will serve as a central list or point of reference for people asking food related questions.
A couple of items related to the list: The restaurants in Bold have received overwhelming positive reaction among the users in this sub. The items with aStrikethrough are items that merited inclusion on the list, but had controversial opinions. These are places that received numerous positive reception from multiple users, but also some dissenting opinions, which range from "overrated and overpriced to a recent decline in quality". I have included the category, restaurant and location for each of the selections. Please realize this was a lot of data to sift through and lookup, and some of these neighborhoods may be slightly off. Please correct me so I can get it as accurate as possible. Also this is a pretty large list, so use of the search functionality will be helpful. Search the type of food you are looking for and go from there.

Hopefully there are a lot I don't know about hence the question mark but it seems like we don't really have that many bars with live music to begin with let alone on a patio or outside in order to enjoy this great weather we have right now. Here are the ones on my list, got any to add?
Cottonwood - has sporadic live music on various nights through the week but seems to be the official bring your baby to the bar and let your kids run free hangout, service can also be spotty
Raven Tower - They have a stage outside and I think they had someone play there once but haven't seen anything recently
Brenner's on the Bayou - on Sunday afternoons they were having bands outside by their Blue Bar in the back (just walk back there around the patio to avoid the stuffiness in the restaurant) but after the flood they put that on hold, I think it starts again this weekend or next though
Last Concert Cafe - haven't been here in ages but it seemed like it was a very alternative crowd.
Karbach Brewery - they seem to be having more & more live music but their social media has been lacking lately so it is hard to be in the know. I think Wednesday evenings they have Love Street Blues but just tried to verify that on their FB and could find no trace of it
It isn't in Houston but we have been going out to Home Sweet Farm in Brenham on the weekends, good craft beer & wine selection with cheese plates in a store that resembles what Revival Market used to be that has live music outside in the yard on the weekends.
What am I missing? I guess I could include the lawn at WOMH but I was more thinking places you could go to on a whim without having to have tickets in advance.

So in the comments about my Lockhart trip this past weekend, jacenborne sort of offhand mentioned maybe getting together sometime. That got me thinking that I've talked to several other pilots in the Houston/Austin area - why not float the idea of picking somewhere interesting and having a get-together? Offhand, I'm thinking of the weekend of Nov. 14 as a tentative date. That gives everybody some time to hash out rental plans or whatever might be needed.
One interesting thing here - I just moved to TX a couple years ago, and I haven't really done much beyond local flying, so I'm not totally up on all the cool spots. But here's a list of potential $100 hamburger-type destinations I'm aware of (though most of these are heavily weighted towards the Houston area):
Here's how I'm thinking we can proceed from here: If you're in the area and interested in coming out please post your home base and how far you're willing to travel. Alternatively, if you'd rather not post your home base, just give me a general idea of where you're willing to go: a list of destinations, a general region, etc. Once we have an idea of who's interested and where they're willing to go, we can see about picking a destination that makes the most sense for the most people.
Now I'm just going to mention some names that I'm pretty sure are local. Feel free to summon others in the comments as well!
