Uber on Wednesday announced several new product updates at the company’s annual Go-Get showcase in New York City that aim to help its customers save money on rides and food.
The product updates reflect Uber’s continued push to drive growth and demand across its mobility and delivery business segments. The new features could help the company attract more riders and users to its app.
Here are the key new offerings the company announced:
Uber Shuttle
Riders looking for a more affordable way to get to the airport, work and live events, such as sports games and concerts, can reserve seats on an Uber Shuttle.
Uber has partnered with local shuttle services that will pick up riders and bring them to their destination. Uber said the shuttle services employ commercially licensed drivers, and users can tip and rate them directly within the Uber app.
The shuttles will have between 14 and 55 seats. Users can reserve up to five seats as early as seven days in advance, and they’ll receive a QR code ticket. Riders can track their shuttle’s location within 25 minutes of departure time.
The company said the shuttle will be a “fraction of the price” of a ride with UberX. The trip won’t be impacted by surge pricing.
Uber will start to roll out the feature at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium and at select concert venues in Chicago, Pittsburgh and Charlotte, N.C., this summer. Uber said it will expand the offering in the future.
Uber Caregiver
Caregivers can add loved ones, such as elderly family members, directly to their profiles starting this summer. This will allow caregivers to book rides for people they care for and order medical supplies and groceries on their behalf.
The feature will also allow for three-way chats between drivers, riders and caregivers.
Uber said the user’s insurance benefits can be applied when applicable to help minimize out-of-pocket costs. Uber Caregiver will initially support Medicaid recipients, customers who are 65 and older with Medicare Advantage, and customers with commercial insurance from their employers.
Caregivers can sign up to be notified when other insurance providers are added.
Costco on Uber Eats
Uber said Costco will be available as an on-demand option within Uber Eats in select locations across the U.S. starting Wednesday.
Users can order products from Costco even if they are not members, but Uber said members will save between 15% and 20% compared with nonmembers.
Costco members can enter their member numbers in the Uber Eats app and are eligible for 20% off of Uber One, the company’s subscription membership.
Schedule UberX Share
Uber said it is launching a new feature on Wednesday that lets users schedule a shared ride in advance. The feature will save users around 25% on average compared with a typical ride on UberX, the company said.

Going to be in London the 29th to 31st. Yep it's a very short window of time, so my options will be mostly limited to what's available. Ideally I'll have a decent shortlist of places to then look into the feasibility of reservations. For context I've been spoiled with dining in NYC/SF/Chicago which all have phenomenal restaurants so I'm excited to see what London has to offer.
General preferences: If it's a tasting menu, I tend to see if I'll be full/satisfied after the meal. I don't mind small bite courses, as long as there's a decent number of courses. Also, I'm a big, big fan of protein/seafood based courses.
The ideal price pp would be under 200£ but can flex up to 300 for the right place. I don't care about drinks/wine pairings so this is just for food. Also don't care for molecular gastronomy restaurants, and ambiance isn't a big factor either.

I’ll start by saying that I (33F) have been to Chicago 4-5x for work, but only in the dead of winter, didn’t really venture far from The Magnificent Mile and always consumed with work responsibilies. I have to be back again for work in mid June, so decided to extend the weekend and have my husband (36) (who has never been before) meet me out there. We plan to stay on The Magnificent Mile. To paint the picture, we live in the NYC area and we are both very much foodies and into cocktails and live music. We are also both pretty active and we don’t have any kids.
My husband subscribes to the touristy stuff way more than I do. He has mentioned wanting to visit Sears Tower, The Bean etc. TBQH, I have zero interest in hitting up these attractions. We are planning to get to Wrigley (our Mets are in town!!) and take a Chicago Architecture Cruise (heard from numerous sources this is very worth it). Apart from those, we don’t have anything else on our agenda and I’m not hating it. We love to meander around tipsy and discover cool bars, breweries, restaurants, etc. Is there a particular street/section of Chicago you would recommend for this?

I’m thinking start somewhere for apps/drinks, go to a secondary place for entree (but nothing huge so I still have an appetite) and then 3rd stop is dessert. Last week I took the Certified Cicerone test and feel rather confident that I crushed it...the tasting results got sent out already and I didn't miss anything. I've been brewing professionally for almost 10 years and worked FOH in restaurants for 10+ years before that...so, lots of experience on both sides of the table, so to speak.
After studying for the Certified for 3 months, I suddenly have the itch to keep pushing forward and see if I can take this thing to the house.
SO, shorty story long, any advice on study tactics for the Advanced and Master? What helped you get through the study period? Are there areas you wish you'd studied more? Are there areas you wish you'd spent less time on? Is it worth it to just memorize the hell out of every style parameter? Any particularly useful youtube channels or podcasts you found? Anyone in Chicago thinking about studying for it as well?

I'm planning a road trip for May 25th - June 9th. The only things that I know I 100% will be doing is the Air Force Museum in Ohio, staying in Chicago for a few days. Everything else is just areas I am thinking of exploring.
I am traveling alone, and the main focus of things to do is great nature and great driving roads (I am a car enthusiast taking my fun but comfortable and roomy car (BMW M5).
Any suggestions for great roads to drive, nature to see, great restaurants, or things that are a must-see or do, please comment!

Couple questions/thoughts:
- I've never driven to Canada before. I have my passport. Am I able to just drive my car in and that's it? Anything special to do beforehand, or anything I should know?
- Is it possible to bring a firearm with me along this trip? I have my Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms, and generally carry wherever I am legally able to. Traveling alone, it would bring piece of mind to have a form of protection, especially as I plan to camp in some remote areas.
- I really enjoy stargazing and have been to Cherry Springs State Park, and seen darker skies while in other countries. Any dark sky opportunities or observatories will be great!
- Please recommend any great driving roads near my route! Twisty roads through scenic areas that are good road quality (minimal potholes). Low population/traffic preferred.
