2024.05.29 02:32 quadradicformula I created a religion as a kid. Here is the Holy Book and some explanations.

At the age of 10-11, I created a religion. Some context: I grew up in a religious household. As a kid, I was always obsessed with the Old Testament of the Bible. On my playground, different kids created different countries, and this religion is kind of based around the country that I created with about 20 other kids (who also “followed” the religion). I wrote the holy book for this religion in a notebook, although the original was destroyed by my mom after she found out about my escapades. This is from a copy I made about a week before that. Here is the holy book in full (with some fixed spelling and grammar):
“Zelmoni Testament to the Great One
Book of the Histories
Before all, there was only loose material, and The Great Dragon [1]. So, as he is supreme, The Great One commanded the loose material to form itself together. The surface created was the land. It was so. Next, He commanded a patch of that land to rise from among its brethren. It was so. The land became man. The Great One said unto him:

 “It is your duty to watch over my seed, my eggs, and protect them.”

Man understood. And as a gift for his understanding, woman was brought upon him. It was at this point that conflict began to arise within The Great One, and he was split in two. The Red One emerged from the split, as he did not want there to be more than one Dragon. He vowed to fight The Great One every night, and as a result of this split The Great One wept for 12 years. Due to this, the world was granted the waters. “You must pray to me, and commit sacrifice to nourish me.”, said The Great One unto man and his children. They listened, and as a gift they were granted a permanent reminder of His presence, the clouds. Time was then also split in two, with the day being for The Great One and night for The Red One. From this were born the seasons, and in winter The Great One’s eggs are layered unto the ground. It was during the first winter that The Great One commanded:

 “Make prayer and make sacrifice, for the night is beginning to overtake the day.”

Man complied. And as a gift for man’s compliance, The Holy Land [2] was opened up, and Man and his children could pass into it. By the 37th generation of man, they had given up on aiding The Great One. They turned to false prophets and idols, and slowly the Red One began to take hold. The world was plunged into infinite darkness in 3 generations, and the snow ceased. Man was miserable and thirsty, so they cried out:

 “Oh, Lord of our ancestors! Return the light to us, and return us to the light!” The Great One appeared to them, saying: “You have not known me, so I have become weak. I require a sacrifice of significant proportion to return to life, to ruling over it.” That week, many animals were sacrificed, and light returned on the face of the earth. It is due to this sacrifice that The Great One was able to live without worship for many years.

The New Revelation
The nightly battles raged on, and as the source of energy was depleted, and the darkness began to set over the land once again. It was now 2017, and a new people inhabited His once-holy ground. On this ground now stood an elementary school, and it was time for his eggs to be caked upon the land once again. As it did, Ben, Devon, and I stood on a hill, watching the snowflakes fall. In grand sequence, The Great One appeared and warned them of the impending darkness.

 “Gather my eggs, compound and protect them. Make sacrifice, of souls or of material energy to your Lord.”

We understood, and as a gift for our understanding the Holy Land was given to them. This land was dubbed Zelmon, although the name’s meaning is unknown. We began to tell our classmates about this revelation, and many came to Zelmon to worship. Upon the truth spreading, a group of heretics emerged from the Holy Land and split off on their own. They believed The Red One was right in his assertion that there should be only one Dragon. They formed the nation of Yaga, and they prayed to bring the darkness over the world once again. Upon learning about this, I commanded all followers to sneak their lunch in their pockets, and bring it to the altar of Zelmon. A large amount was sacrificed that day and Zelmon went to war with Yaga. The fighting was swift, as the sacrifice was so large, and Zelmon emerged victorious. The people of Yaga were brought back to Zelmon and forced to worship The Great One, but some escaped and continued to worship The Red One. In dedication to our victory, to His victory, the Great Temple at White Stream was built. There, eggs would be stored and an altar was built from ice. This temple did not last long, however, as the worshippers of The Red One destroyed the eggs, made sacrifice to The Red One, and then dismantled the temple. As a result, the land was tainted and the Zelmonis had to withdraw to The Holy Hills once again. The group who destroyed the temple were eternally cursed with failure in human institution. The last time The Great One spoke with us was in late 2018, when He ordered that the energy of human pain be delivered to Him. He needed this energy due to the recent curse, and no other kind would suffice. I walked to the Altar, washed, and cut the palm of my hand. I spread the blood across the top of the altar. The Great One then said to me:

 “Do not worry, for your great sacrifice will last for 20 more years.”

The Afterlife
When we die, we are delivered back to The Great One. There, we will fight with him against The Red One until there is only light. When we are sent to The Great One, we are reborn within him and thus sent down in the season of the Lord as eggs. When we rise back to the sky above, we are born as Dragons, although not as powerful as The Great One. This is why the duty of sacrifice must not be forgotten, for if the darkness does take over the world and The Red One triumphs, then all souls will be destroyed due to his desire to be the only Dragon.
Sacrificial Instructions
You must build an altar. The altar does not have to be in any specific dimensions, but should stand at least 6 feet from any other object in the room or area. The altars of ice were platforms of about 2 feet in height, with the area around a few inches of the altar were cut about 1 inch inward on all sides, separating the bottom and top pieces. The top piece has an indent where the sacrifices are placed.
If sacrifice of the soul is being committed, the animal must be brought to the altar either alive or at the very least intact. The animal is to be rested upon the indent and it’s through cut, allowing the blood to run down the altar. If the animal is large, simply rest the head upon the indent and slit the throat.
If sacrifice of material energy is being committed, place the object(s) in the indent and pour water on the offering. Then, leave it.
If sacrifice of human pain is being committed, rest the limb upon the indent and make the prick so that the blood runs down the altar. If the sacrifice involves the breaking of a limb, you may break the limb prior to resting it on the altar, but if this is done blood must be drawn so it runs down the altar.
In 2038, another sacrifice will be required, lest we get plunged into eternal darkness once more. It is recommended that we start before then, though, because the consequences will be noticeable in the near future. Let’s just keep things as they should be: engulfed in light.
Also, you must wash your hands before sacrifice, so that it is accepted by The Great One.
Praise the Great One!”

First time owner of a 2015 6speed manual Golf tdi with 128,000 on it.
I just have a few questions.
Can someone explain Regen to me? I do a long drive about an hour and ten minutes roughly 75kms one way 150 both ways it’s 30 minutes of country driving at 30 at 80kms/hr and 35 minutes of highway driving at 120kms/hr for around thirty minutes
Would this be enough to get my car into regen?
I’m super new so anything is super helpful

DISCLAIMER: You don't see too many "bigger" recent titles in my list because I haven't had a person to share with for the last 4 years, therefore I bought some bigger titles on disc and sold them after playing them. PS5 titles I had on disc (and would buy these type of games digitally in the future if we end up sharing long term): RE4, Alone in the Dark, Banishers, Avatar Pandora, Robocop Rogue City, Spider-Man 2, Jedi Survivor, Diablo IV)
Long term share would mean we basically take turns buying the games we both want. For example I would buy Star Wars Outlaws and you buy Assassins Creed Shadows, the next game after that I would buy and so on. Thats for typical full price games. Cheaper games we can handle on a case by case basis. I'm not very pedantic in that regard.
My PS+ Extra ends next month, I will extend it for a year. After that if we share you would buy a year for us to share.

Hey everyone! Im very new to golf so please excuse my ignorance. My step dad loves to golf , and my interest in this has really started with him and trying to spend more time with him . I have always seen golf as a mundane sport for the older crowd growing up, but as I’m getting older I really have an appreciation for it now and other “mundane” sports like fishing and tennis they are actually quite fun. I feel like this sport would be such a great way to bond with my dad and also help relieve some stress outside of my regular fishing trips. My sister was selling a women’s Top Flight 9 piece set she got from an exbf and I got it from her $70 brand new with the plastic still on the clubs it seemed like a good deal. I feel like all I need is a towel and shoes and I will be good to go! What resources are good for leaning the ins and outs of golf without having to take actual lessons? I know my dad will teach me a bunch , but I would like to have some wits about me when I go with him to the course. It’s my worst fear that I will show up at the Country Club and make a fool out of myself and my dad LOL. I do have etiquette and professionalism so thats no worry… just worries about playing the game 😅 Any resources, advice, forums/videos, recommendations of clubs or gear that I need would be greatly appreciated! I was also a little worried about being a younger woman new to the sport, but looking at the LPGA I think I will be fine it seems there are other ladies that play and is not as male dominated as I thought. I have a feeling I will love golf a lot more than I’m thinking 😁

Like many, Ben Baller picked up golf during the pandemic then all of a sudden like a year into playing, he's hanging around Good Good who are literally half his age, has a club deal with Taylormade, hangs around PGA and Liv players, and had a podcast with Malbon founder Stephen Malbon and JR Smith.

2 SNS-001 Consoles For Parts/Not Working 2 For Parts/Not Working consoles that have been broken down, including one housing (has some chips/cracks), 2 motherboards, all components, however some are guaranteed to not work. The boards themselves may have additional issues beyond the removed chips, I have no way to test or check them. Neither of these motherboards work. Both of them were giving different graphical issues on the screen, so I thought I'd be clever and try to swap some chips around, but found out as I was doing it that I have no experience with it and was in way over my head. I do not know if there are working chips here to even create one working SNES, as far as I'm aware all of the graphics chips/etc. are bad. Pics here $35

The Commonwealth fell, but who was to blame? Eden stabbing the Mother Russia in the back, spreading unrest all over Poland? UNSC comandeering Baltics? Also yes. But we played our role as well.
When the government has started pushing for "alignment" with UNSC, with annexation in mind, many disagreed. Riots all over the place, regional governments threatening retaliation, the Runet boiling with Ghosts fearing for their future.
We decided to push for more drastic measures, for the sake of our country, our citizens and our future. We did our best, but we failed. The Karakum and Central Siberia have declared independence. The Fleets of Commonwealth have fled to the seas and to space. And so did we, but not without a Grand Exit.
We had the keys to every lock. We had the access to every base. And when those who were supposed to oversee us supported our plans, we made our final move. Denying sycophants fruits of our labor. Taking our secrets with us.
We took ourselves, our allies, refugees from persecution, and moved towards the Last Bastion. Hidden in Plain Sight.
We, the Based Department.

Claim Overview

The Based Department were the Commonwealths spymasters, special forces and cybersecurity, the premier intelligence organization of the hyperpowers. Responsible for special operations, R&D, and cyberwarfare, Based Department was one of the most transhumanist and AI-positive organization of already transhumanist and AI-positive Russia. With the high possibility of GIGAS involvement ruining that harmony and pushing AI more towards servitude, Based Department rebelled (contributing towards the Collapse), erased a major portion of Russian confidential databases, and fled towards Central Siberia - one of the country's contingency plans.
The claim unites several of the forces, including:

Based Department, all of the Directorates, including Spetsnaz Brigades.
VDV and all of it's divisions.
AI refugees - both fully AI androids and "Everlasting" synthetic hybrids (combining synthetic chassis, organic brain and robotic second brain).
Human sympathizers and family members - primarily already incorporated into Everlasting chassis. While hybridization and cyberization was widely spread across the Commonwealth, these people decided to bail either due to their affiliations, opposition towards GIGAS, or being afraid of the future persecution.

Based Department, as it currently stands, is a primarily AI/cyborg quasi-nation. They see the Commonwealth pre-collapse as the benchmark none currently can match - not GIGAS, not the successors, not the rest. They are seeking to build a nation based on the AI equality, and are willing to sacrifice a lot for that dream.

Grand Exit

During the Collapse and their exodus, The Based Department has blocked the access to a significant portion of confidential information, primarily about Russian secret facilities all over the country, operations, and the Based Department itself. While the technology access is still available, it makes it hard for others to find the locations of the Department. They used overreach to modify memories of those unaligned, in order to prevent any information memorized.
Likewise, as the creators and ones responsible of the Commonwealth cybersecurity, they still have a degree of access to the majority of Commonwealth/remnants digital infrastructure, and fixing this requires investment.

Locations

The Based Department is spread across multiple Vaults - a combination of contingency shelters and military outposts designed to sustain the Russian Army in case they are pushed to Urals. These bases can be underground city shelters (like the one under Omsk metro), underground military bases hidden through holographic and camouflage technology, or a massive mountain base.
The HQ of the Based Department is the Mount Yamantau - a former government shelter massively expanded in the past, serving as one of the BD main laboratories and the host of the world's most powerful computer. Due to the Grand Exit, most of the BD's involvement with the Mountain has been deleted - as far as anyone knows, it was an active emergency shelter, with a Sovyenok backup systems, but nothing more than that. The Mountain is a massively reinforced Vault, succeeding Chayenne in terms of durability and endurance.

Military Strength

The Based Department is elite, but a small force. Their military force consists of Spetsnaz and VDV (including the infamous 2nd Femboy Spetsnaz Brigade), in their ranks, as well as having a volunteer militia out of android military members and augmented volunteers. However, the Vaults they have found weren't supposed to hold much military equipment - mostly supplies and munitions.
Based Department prioritizes stealthy, precise and quick operations, able to travel through most of the Commonwealth unnoticed. They maintain a significant portion of the Commonwealth utility fleet (attributed to VDV), special operations equipment, but lack in others - like tanks, fighter jets, artillery or air defense.
Majority of the BD military force is electric-powered, and with the supply of Globus fusion reactors, the force is quite self-sustaining. However, while they can do minor maintenance, they are not able to do major repairs or create new equipment, for now.

Relations with the claims

Atlantic Russia - Neutral-Good (depending on the claim post). A certain level of distrust, and they are partially competing for the title of who can be called a true successor. However, being in close positions, there is a lot of sympathy.
Eden - neutral-negative. Considers them as one of the core reasons for the collapse, but also has a level of interest in Eden's religious fervor (mostly as a sociological study).
Karakum - Tense but leaning positive. Most of the tensions are due to regional leaders of Central Asia, generational distrust towards Russian intelligence agents, and a disputes on AI rights. Based Department is willing to work with Karakum and potentially integrate, but is currently wary. Arguably, BD has more trust with the Central Russia.
Triad of Kings - negative. Seeing chips of Slayer as affront to everything they stand for, they look for a way to protect the territories from Slayer, and liberate this parody of a hive mind.

I was 13 and taking a photography class at Academy of Art College in SF. At the time I was really into Nirvana and Pearl Jam and the music my mom liked growing up. The class was mixed between high school kids and college kids looking for summer credits and I was the youngest of the whole bunch. One guy I really looked up to said to me "Hey, listen to this new record I just bought" and put headphones on me and pressed play. The album was Punk in Drublic and the song was Linoleum. It changed everything.
I was already a bass player at the time but my first band was trying to sound like all of our grunge idols.

That band broke up and I joined my first "real" band soon after and the vibes had changed. We wanted to be fast and loud and punk. During that period I saw NOFX live probably 100 times. My Walkman was always playing my homemade tapes with NOFX on one side, Op Ivy on the other and probably Green Day in there as well. I learned every song, knew every lyric and slam danced my heart out every time I saw them. I got to see NOFX at the Fillmore, Bottom of the Hill, Slims, Gilman, Warp Tour, and even at little ass clubs like Thee Parkside. NOFX was on the stereo at all of our high school parties and Fat Mike was a mythical figure in my mind.
Then my band broke up again and my best friend and drummer were looking for a new project. My friend Chuck Worthy reached out and said a band called The Flipsides needed bass and drums so we texted Sabrina the lead singer and set up an audition. We put the record on for about 20 minutes before she showed up at our practice studio and learned the first few tracks. She walked in and asked us if we knew any of the songs, we said, yeah, totally. Colin (Drummer) counted in and we absolutely nailed the entire first couple songs in a row. Sabrina stopped and said, "So we have a tour opening for the Groovie Ghoulies and I want you guys." Turned out The Flipsides was signed to Pink and Black which is a subsidiary of Fat. So that's how I first met Fat Mike.

I don't think Mike really remembered me from that first meeting. I was just the new bass player for The Flipsides but we toured the record and he was aware of us. He even came to see us a few times. Side note, some of the bass on that record was done by Mike Dirnt and we had some heat behind us. It was a fucking great time on the road. The Ghoulies are the best and I loved that entire experience but when we got back Colin wanted out. He didn't feel satisfied with the songs and he was my guy so I told Sabrina I was out too. I still wonder what would have been if we had stayed with that lineup because we were solid on stage and killed it at every show. On to the next though, Colin and I joined a band with a couple of Irish lads from Sligo and started The Hooks. That band carried me through the next decade or so and they are still playing today.

Here's where it gets weird. Some how during all of this I got really into golf and started a worldwide golf league called the Mediocre Golf Association with my also best friend Jon Morley. It began as just a few friends playing golf together and now we have over 100 chapters around the world and almost 8000 members. Each year we hold a World Championship in Las Vegas that's attended by around 600 people at this point. Anyway, that other best friend Colin, my drummer, married Michelle who is a lockneck girl (some of you may know) in Mexico and Fat Mike was at the wedding. While we were body surfing on the beach one day I realized that I was just chilling next to Mike and everyone else had gone back to shore. I had heard somewhere that he was a golfer so I shot my shot and I asked if he wanted to golf while we were in Mexico and he absolutely lit up when I asked. He told me to meet him the next morning at 7am for breakfast and we would taxi to some course near by. I told my now ex-wife and she seemed not that interested but I couldn't fucking sleep. I popped out of bed ready to hang out with Fat Mike and golf in Mexico and it was everything I could have asked for and more.

We ate pretty quickly, had some semi-awkward conversation which I have no memory of and hopped in a Mexican taxi to the course. The course was nice. Like, really fucking nice but of course I had no clubs, no balls, no nothing. We rented a bunch of shit and each paid for ourselves (this will come up later). All told I think I spent almost 700 bucks which was a lot for me but nothing was gonna stop me from having this day. The round was amazing. I told Mike all about this thing I had started called the MGA, and he was into it! We talked about punk bands we liked, why bass is definitely the best instrument, we both sucked at golf, the course was immaculate, and we bonded. He became Mike my homey and not Fat Mike from NOFX. He's just a cool dude who is really fun to hang out with. The rest of the Mexico trip he was my buddy Mike...who also knew every other famous person there and kept introducing me and lives a totally different and probably cooler life than most people.
Cut to, I'm back home. Mike tells Kent (the NOFX manager) about the MGA. Kent loves it even more than Mike. Kent becomes a true friend and an MGA champion. We all start golfing all the time and through them I meet a bunch of people I now fully consider lifelong friends. They both come to Vegas for our World Championship. Mike, myself and Jon Morley the co-founder of the MGA do a cover for Golf Magazine which blows up the MGA even more. We're now just straight up golf buddies but Fat Mike is still Fat Mike who I grew up idolizing but he's become a normal buddy who just has a cool job in a way. I love that man. He sucks at golf and so do I but after he sucks at golf he writes hit records! He's great at being Fat Mike but he's also great at being a friend and now that they're doing the last tour I just feel like people should know this story.
Mike is famous as fuck in my world. I know in the big world that's not SF punk kids he's not a household name but for me, meeting him the first time was like meeting Michael Jackson, with less molesting. Some molesting, consensually if you're part of the scene, but less molesting. He's gone out of his way for me. He told me much later he wanted to pay for that first round of golf we played in Mexico but he didn't know me well enough yet. The important part there is he thought about that enough to tell me later. He held onto it like I do with so many things. When you hang with him and he does know you he pays for dinner, golf rounds, etc. but not do act cool, because he has money now and he wants to just use it to do fun things with his friends. It's so selfless and he's treats it like a lot of people say they would if they ever got money but then don't. He does. He's just a good dude. Again, terrible at golf but a good dude.

Bonus Bonus extra story - once after a round of golf Mike was driving me home and had to pick up his daughter at school. She was probably 5 or 6 at the time. He took me into the school, into the classroom, and every kid was so excited to see him but so confused as to who I was. Mike seemed un-phased. That's my guy.

Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says Yahweh of hosts. “But you say, ‘How shall we return?’ “Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and contributions. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you! Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says Yahweh of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and empty out for you a blessing until it is beyond enough. Then I will rebuke the devourer for you so that it will not corrupt the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field fail to bear,” says Yahweh of hosts. “So all the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land,” says Yahweh of hosts. “Your words have been strong against Me,” says Yahweh. “But you say, ‘What have we spoken against You?’ You have said, ‘It is worthless to serve God; and what gain is it that we have kept His charge and that we have walked in mourning before Yahweh of hosts? But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both advanced in years. Now it happened that while he was performing his priestly service before God in the order of his division, according to the custom of the priestly office, he was chosen by lot to enter the sanctuary of the Lord and burn incense. And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of the incense offering. And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense. But when he came out, he was unable to speak to them, and they realized that he had seen a vision in the sanctuary. And he kept making signs to them, and remained mute. And it happened that when the days of his priestly service were fulfilled, he went back home. After these days Elizabeth his wife conceived, and she kept herself in seclusion for five months, saying, “This is the way the Lord has dealt with me in the days when He looked upon me to take away my disgrace among men.” Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.” But she was very perplexed at this statement, and was pondering what kind of greeting this was. And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. 2024.05.28 08:17 the-letter2014 I want nothing to do with my ex-best friend, but she keeps popping up in my life. What do I do?

Hey guys! Love the show, thought I'd share an event in my life that happened 10 years ago that changed how I am. I had to make sure I had my thoughts were put together, but a lot has happened. It's bit long, so I apologize.
Starting for context we are both currently 28 F, and it's been 10 years since this has happened, it still kinda of effects me, but I've learned to grow from it and I do not hold any bitterness towards her for a disclaimer.
Now to beginning. I was 15 and just started attending a new school for freshman year. In my country, international schools start at K-4~12 grade. So switching schools was a big thing. The new school had people that basically grew up together, so it was easy to be left out, like my first international school. Still a little trauma from that, but that's for another story. This new school wasn't the case, everyone was nice and welcoming. I easily grew close to a girl, let's call her Linda. We had similar personalities, enjoyed the same video games and had the same dumb humor. I became a social butterfly and talked to everyone, especially those who seemed to sit alone. She quickly became a very close friend, like a sister almost, even after she moved away for a year.
She returned for senior year, and we did almost everything together and hung out with the same people. I'd even introduce her to my friends I made at other schools. That same year we got some new classmates, one of which I enjoyed being around. Let's call him Shawn. Shawn was a very outgoing person that everyone loved and we had some of the same classes. Shawn would often ask me for favors to bring him shopping to where he didn't have access too, but a few of us did. We weren't really good friends, but I obliged because I was people pleaser and wanted to be nice. (For context, I was a military child and had base access, he wanted to go on the base as a little slice of America)
Senior year goes by, we graduate and we all still hangout.
One night I was hanging out with Linda and 2 of our friends just chatting. Shawn came up, and I made a comment of I sometimes feel like he is using me to have access to go shopping, but I'm not accusing, I just saying how I feel.
Now this is where it starts to go down hill. I was with Linda and she told me that Shawn found out what I said is very hurt. And so I told her to tell him if there's an issue talk to me. I was getting confused as to why he was going through her, but I moved on. A week goes by and I decided to message Shawn about the issue. No response. I told Linda about it and she said that he blocked me. That to me seemed a bit extreme, but I told myself, I tried. We would occasionally talk about what was said and that I kept saying how I was expressing how I was feeling, nothing more. And she understood....and so I thought.
A few weeks ago by, we start community college. Linda and I were hanging out with one of my friends. To paint the picture, I was driving, my friend was in his own world in the passenger seat, and Linda was in the back. We were driving around and the Shawn issue was brought up. She goes on saying how I was accusing him and stuff like that. I'm a very calm and non-confrontational person, but at that point it has been 2-3 months of this dumb thing that I snapped. I ended up yelling "I don't like when people puts words in my mouth." The car goes silent. My friend in his own world after 10 mins looks around, not noticing what had happened.
Later we pull into a fast food joint, Linda gets out and goes in. I stay in my car with many thoughts running through my head. I get out of car with my friend still in it and sit right in front, on the ground, back against the car and I start to cry. 5 mins go by and my friend comes out to check on me and then goes inside and then come back within 2 mins. He told me she is getting a ride from her mom. I start to cry more and then I gather myself together and my friend and I get back in my car and I drive us home. On the car ride to take him home he asked me what happened. This made me think he was really in his own world. But I explained and he said that we just need time.
This is when things start to get worse.
2 weeks go by and I was thinking that this would be enough time to cool off, but instead of texting her. I waited after class to try catch her and talk. I'd wait for about an hour after class until all the cars were gone. I did this for 2 days and no Linda.
By the 3rd day I sent her a message saying how I'm sorry for how I said what I said, but I stand by what I said. And that don't want this to ruin our friendship and that she means a lot to me and that we should talk it out.
A few days go by...and I get a response... The response I got broke my heart into pieces and I start to hysterically cry.
The response I have received was 4 pictures of a handwritten letter (so 4 pages) to me about every single thing wrong with me. Included was she saying how people only hung out with me out of pitty and that she glad she didn't run into after class because she would punch me in the face. And many more things that didn't make sense to me. I still have this letter.
I started to rethink of every single friend I ever had and my trust in anyone was gone! I had no one to talk to and so I basically endured this alone.
I tried to message Shawn again on another app. Saying "I know you probably don't want to hear from me, but I hope you are doing okay." I probably could have said something else, because I finally got a response. His response was "im doing well and thanks for the message, but why are you messaging me again? After hearing all the crap you said?? And after all the time and effort I spent trying to reach you." I was confused because I was blocked. I don't remember if I responded to that, I just had a screenshot of that interaction.
All of this made me feel small and I fell into deep depression. I didn't talk to anyone and so I endured it alone...for a time being...
A few weeks later a friend I had from another school messaged me to hangout and I did. Told him vaguely what happened and said don't worry it will okay. I owe a LOT to him. This was one of my lowest points in the start of my adult life and he reached out and picked me up from my dark place I was in. He is the main reasons why I started to have the friends I have till this day.
A year later, I went to a concert and Linda was there. We exchanged smiles and the concert started. A shirt was thrown into the crowd right in Linda's direction causing her to get piled on. A few minutes later she popped up and all was okay. Later that night I sent her a message asking if she was okay. She was very surprised to hear from me and seemed happy that I was concerned. We texted for a few days and she ended up inviting me to a BBQ at a beach. Knowing what happened the year prior I was hesitant, but did decide to attend to give her the benefit of the doubt. During that time in my life I had really bad social anxiety due to the letter and so I didn't really talk to anyone. Everyone there I didn't know, only Linda, so I felt a bit out of place. What made me decide to leave was that I saw Linda running down the beach with one of her friends towards us. They got to our table talked for a bit and Linda was going on and on about how the 2 of them are soulmate sisters. I may have been overreacting in my head for some reason that made my heart feel crushed like I was replaced. About 20 mins later I left and never messaged her again. I was there at the bbq for about 3 hours.
It wasn't until 2 years later that I told my mom everything. She asked about Linda and I said we weren't friends and then told her the story. She gave me a hug and said she's sorry I went through that.
Periodically my mom and I would each brunch, Linda would be working as a waitress. When Linda would come and clean our tables I would be cordial and say hi and hope she is doing well. While my mom would smile and not say anything. I think my mom was being a momma bear because she would then make a comment in a slight snotty way "why is she still working here? If she stayed your friend I could have gotten her a good job." I just said that her life was not my business and I don't really care. My mom is a successful business woman that also has another job. She has many connections, I even got another person a job just because we had the same name (first and last name) and the ones hiring thought it was me. It really funny because I am female and the one hired was male. There was no interview, it was an automatic hire.
I then left my country for 5 years to live with my boyfriend and so I can figure my life out away from everything. I didn't want the easy connections for work and I wanted to experience everything on my own to see what I am capable of. I am now a mentally stronger person than I was and is owed to my boyfriend, which we are currently on 7 years strong. During those 5 years, I would annually visit my home country. I would go out to the bars and low and behold I ran into Linda. We talked for a few minutes and apparently she is married with 2 kids. Good for her, but I didn't really care anymore.
2 years ago my boyfriend and I decided to move to my home country so that I can work with my mom's business. The pandemic put a stop at my dream job that I had multiple final round interviews for. I decided I needed to move on and that with my work experiences I can help improve her business.
Last year, when I was out with my friend, we were talking about life after high school at some point and I gave her a short version of what happened and her expression was like WTF. I told her it is what it is and I moved on. Later that same evening we ran into Linda at a club. She was drunk, she saw me gave me a hug and introduced me to her boyfriend. Apparently she got divorced. And that she also currently have 5 or 6 kids. I didn't really remember the exact number, but it was high enough to make my jaw drop a bit. She complained how fertile she was, and we laughed. My friend and I left after we finished our drinks and I told her what she said and then she asked if she has that many kids why is she out drinking. I just said I don't know and it's none of my business and that maybe she needed a night off. I could tell she was a bit annoyed, but we changed subjects and continued on with our night.
I would then see her again at an event she was working at, think comic con just smaller. She may have been a manager, or supervisor. I don't know. My dad has a booth at the event and we needed assistantance, I went to get it and they came back with Linda. She helped, we exchanged smiles and that was it.
Now for the most recent time. 2 weeks ago. My family business hosts these events for the community which are fun. We had traditional dancers, a dj and a cooking competition. Linda as actually part of the cooking competition. She was there as part of a program, so she was basically there for moral support. After the event, I saw her talking to the building manager while I was helping clean of how happy everything went. She then said she wanted to get the contact info from those in charge of it so she can send thank you letters. I was about 3 feet away and heard everything. The manager then said my company name and then I sightly interrupted said that that's me. Raised my hand and said I am the main point of contact. Linda eyes seemed to have a slight deer in a head lights look. We smiled at each other and then she finished her conversation and then left. Linda at that event was also very visibly pregnant. My boyfriend was at the event, him knowing my past, he was able to put a face to my truma. He was trying to make me feel better by saying " oh that's the B**ch!" I just said she's probably changed and we were kids back then. It is what it is. And then asks how many times I have ran into now. I was silent and then shrugged. I told him I don't know and don't want to think about. It's not important to me.
No matter what I do in my life, I can't seem to not run into her. I don't care about her life or care to see her. But there is something about me running into everytime that makes me feel slightly small, like I'm being brought back 10 years ago, I try to appear strong as if nothing bothers me but it does. I just tell myself that the best way to get back at someone is to live a good life. I wouldn't say mine is better, I just don't have extra mouths to feed, just my boyfriend and our cats.
Still till this day, I do not associate myself with anyone I graduated. I talk to no one because of that letter. I was thinking Shawn probably said something to them to make everyone cut contact. The last time I have someone the benefit of the doubt, I went to her house for a party. This was a year after the letter. At the party there were lots of people with food, but my "friend" was no where in sight. I ended up hanging out with her parents who said she'll be back. An hour later, she returned, we talked for about 10 mins. People were leaving and then she then asks me to help her clean her house. I was a bit of a push over and so I helped her clean. I left and never talked to her again. She also never reached out.
I don't know, if I have been doing the right thing in moving on and act as if I'm unbothered, or of I need some kind of closure. I looked back at the letter and thought that nothing more needs to be said. I occasionally think back as to what I did wrong, if I did things differently, or if I was a stronger person it wouldn't be like this. But I'm not sure. I love my life and I cherish every friendship I have. I now have friends that stick up for me when dumb drama starts and are there when I'm sad. I don't feel any pitty from them. When I ask for favors, they want nothing in return because they know I will do the same if asked.
Funny thing that in the middle of all this dumb drama 10 years ago, I had started a blog. A bit of my own therapy with no filter. Since I felt like Linda was being placed in the middle I didn't want to bother her with my thoughts and so I typed it all out. And so after every incident that happened I wrote about with receipts. And that probably another reason I snapped.
I can no longer access the blog, if anyone wanted to find it. The only way I found it recently was that I linked it to a Tumblr account I had when I made it, but when I did, i can't open the blog. I look at it as that's sign as that's the past and to move on.

But have I been doing the right thing in moving on? Should I talk to her the next time we run into each other, seeing how I can't escape? Lol. I just don't know how much she thought I was affected by everything. So what should I do? Any advice would be nice.

2024.05.28 05:53 eyeofthepotato_35 When did you get hooked?

I've (M33) havd played golf since I was 13. Between 23-29 I paused hard. I didn't even think about going to the range. I shot a commercial at the Marquette Country Club, and as beautiful as that was, it didn't motivate me to play.
I didn't pick it back up until COVID. I had a couple Mizuno irons in my set that I got for free. They were the Mx-200, 7 and 8 iron.
I took a swing on my third range session and I pured the 7 iron. My knees collapsed. It was literally the first time I could say I hit a ball the right way. All the rest of my shots at the range were the 7 iron and none even came close to that hit.
Fast forward to now. I golf every weekend. I'm so close to breaking 100. I finally can make the ball go where I want with some degree of confidence, sometimes. I have a new set of Sub 70 699s that i love and a Vokey I hold close to my heart.
It's all because of that one damn random Mizuno 7-Iron in my bag and that one shot.

Hi all, a couple friends and I are planning our 2nd annual Long Island golf trip from Mass. We’re trying to get some info and reviews about a few courses.
We played Bethpage Black, Red, Indian Island and Huntington Country club last year. We plan on playing the Black again and then a few new ones. The way our days are breaking down it looks like we’re looking at -
1 day at Harbor Links or the Golf club at middle bay 1 day at Rock Hill or Pine Hills And 1 day at Islands end or Cherry creek woods.
