2024.05.09 08:12 Upper_Fox4252 What's the best tech stack to learn to get a job fast in Germany?

Hi there, So I'm learning to code through the odin project and I'm working on projects in the advanced JavaScript path.
My goal is to land a job in Germany once I'm done with the full curriculum. But I will definitely start applying for jobs after the JavaScript path.
My question is, should I proceed to learn node.js from TOP or look at other resources?
And my main question is it worth investing learning time in the MERN stack or should I choose another stack to better my chances of landing a job in Germany?
Like what's the best tech stack to land a job fast in German?
Thanks in advance
P. S. Regarding the language, I completed b1 level and I will prepare for B2 once I'm done with the odin project.

2024.05.03 13:50 keagle5544 Fumbled a simple interview

I interviewed for a famous german MNC recently after clearing the OA and this is how it went
Online Round - Extremely simple just had to solve 2 easy questions in 45 minutes. I completed in 20 minutes and submitted.
Virtual Round 1 Duration: 30 minutes
They asked to introduce myself first and describe the projects. Then I was asked a few questions about OOPS and OS which I was able to answer. The second interviewer asked questions about exceptions in Java and difference between throw and throws, this is the only question where I just blanked out for a whole minute. They concluded by asking why I wanted to join the company etc.
Virtual Round 2 Duration: 45 Minutes
Again this interview started with a general introduction. The interviewer then asked me if I knew react. I said yes but mostly the basics as I'm not that good at javascript. Then he asked me to share the screen and create an html file.
After that he asked that 'what is the file extension for react'. I said react does not have a extension. Then he said like python has .py and c++ has .cpp so what is it for react. I said react is a framework and it uses jsx, js and css files together, just like flask is a framework and there's no extension for flask project. I think I sounded a little arrogant while saying this since I got a little frustrated.
I was asked then to write code for React through html file. Again I said that for that I need to create a react project and asked the interviewer that can I show a react project as an example, he refused.
Due to some reason he was speaking in half sentences and weird accent. He wanted me to write Typescript code as well which I never mentioned anywhere. Then again I asked can I show a sample react project and then he agreed. I explained the components and stuff. After that he asked me to create a button on html that does something using javascript. I created the button tag but couldn't write the javascript code as I already mentioned that I'm weak at javascript.
This whole thing made me very nervous since for a week I was preparing fundamentals and leetcode.
Then we moved on to c++. I was asked to write code to return frequency of elements in an array, I coded it in hardly 5 minutes and executed it and showed the output as well. Then he asked about hash maps and explain hashing.
Next question was standard leetcode dp question: https://leetcode.com/problems/maximal-square/
I gave a naive approach and then was asked for a better approach. I was only asked approach and not the code. I thought for a maximum of 5 minutes before he said 'its ok ... '. I could then only mention some wrong approach of storing only location of 1s in a vector (not exactly efficient), I believe I would have figured it was a DP question if I had a few more minutes
The last DSA question was to calculate the transpose of Matrix. For this too I coded it in hardly 5 minutes, and pasted the whole code on chat.
Then he asked about overriding a function, semaphores vs mutex, what is time complexity of binary search and why, and some other questions.
I answered all of them..
Then I was asked logic question 1. What is the speed of minute hand 2. What is the angle between hour hand and minute hand at specific time
I answered both
After that I was allowed to ask questions so I asked about whether I'd get backend or front end role
Result: 8 out of 9 people got links for HR round. That 1 person who didn't get was me 🤧.
I wasn't sure that I would get it but seeing people who didn't even open leetcode or make any projects in 4 years by themselves get offers was such torture. My friend who got offered the role was asked 2 questions:
Reverse a linked list and to add 2 numbers that are represented in strings and return the answer in string. For both he got 20 minutes.
Another was asked 2 famous problems out of which he could only solve 1.
I know I have one year from now but it hurts so much that so much of this is based on pure luck (a fact that I knew years before). It's just so terrible to be that 1 out of 9 person to get rejected in technical round after solving 400 questions on codeforces and another 300 on leetcode.

2024.05.03 11:57 AguilaValenciana Progress Report: Non purist approach to DS, 50h/Level 2 at 30 days

About 30 days ago I got the idea to learn Spanish. I found DS and was immediately sold on the CI premise. My Goal is to reach a comfortable B2, maybe C1 if possible. I want to be able to spontaneously talk to people on vacation and consume native content (books, movies, podcasts, news, etc.).
I've just reached Level 2 at 51 hours of work. I know there are purists out there — roll your eyes all you want :) — but I feel more comfortable combining different learning techniques / methods as I feel like this is the best way for me to learn.
Background: I'm a native German speaker, comfortable level of English, about A2 in Turkish, some vestigial knowledge of French from school (not much). I've had about a year of formal Spanish lessons in school about 25 years ago, forgotten practically everything, except for maybe 10 words / phrases like hola, buenas días, mañana, una jarra por favor, la cuenta por favor which I've picked up vacationing in Spain. That's it.
I'm complementing DS mostly with Anki, Assimil, Graded Readers and Alexander Arguelles' Shadowing technique.
This is my first "Update" at 30 days / 50h into my Spanish learning journey.
May 2024 — 52h work (23h DS, 16h other, 12h Anki)
My Anki deck consists of mostly vocab L1 <-> L2 cards, having an example sentence on the answer side. Some cloze cards for connector words.
I know this is not your standard "Learning Stack" so to speak, but overall I'm pretty happy with the progress so far. Going in, I did not expect to watch intermediate videos after just one month and being able to read A2 graded readers without much hassle.
I feel like the DS / CI approach without trying to translate in your head combined with Anki drilling is really powerful.

2024.04.25 19:47 Ok-Location964 Error when installing

Hi all,
i'm trying to get a solution but nothing works exactly..
I have installed a new secondary site to my primary site as a customer from my site got a new location. now they want to have these two sites connected.
So everything fine. Did followed the SCCM Tutorial of Prajwal Desai. Secondary site is installed.
In the Prim. Site i was distrubuting the client agent via sccm push. FW is open, policy is set. everything works.
The main Problem is, that i cannot install the agent via the secondary server. whatever why.
Distribution over the 40Mbit upload Network Line of German Telekom is bullshit. So syncing over night. Installing everything over the secondary site
Push user is set.. (AD Account)
Did you guys/girls have a solution on this one?
here are the logs from the server and client

2024.04.10 15:26 Vegetable-Agency-787 Junior job or Workingstudent in Germany

Hi everyone.
Im a 3rd year Applied Computer Science student but I'm on my 4th year since I had to redo my thesis. Now I'm finished and have to wait till June to get my degree.
Carreer wise I only did one internship at an international school solving tickets and working on a small PHP project.
Now my situation is as follows: I moved in to Germany to live with my girlfriend. However I don't have a job and my German is basic but improving daily by speaking German with her.
However since I have to pay 200euro a month in health insurance I was thinking of working (part-time or full-time) odd jobs untill i get my degree so that my work pays half of the health insurance.
In the meantime I want to sharpen up my tech stack by learning the basics of DevOps and React; I have experience (made projects/learned in uni) with Java, SpringBoot, PHP, little bit python, little bit C++, Svelte, Html, css, javascript, sql, nodejs and that's it pretty much. But I'm eager to learn whatever necessary either in my free time or on job.
Location wise I'm in Schleswig-Holstein but I do have a drivers license so I'm up for it to drive daily to around Hamburg or Flensburg.
Now for my actual question, is it possible for me to apply for 'Werkstudent' positions? The pay is not that important I'm more into it for the experience, learning German and improving myself. (But also so that I get a little financial help with my health insurance).
Or 2, shall I apply for junior level jobs already but there's not a lot where english alone is sufficient so I'm not too hopefull.
Or 3, shall I do odd jobs like janitor or bartender where speaking fluent German isn't as necessary?
Looking forward to all advice
Greetings,

2024.03.14 05:15 MercuriusXeno Bitburner Journal Days 4 through 7

Bitburner journal part 2.
Part 1 is here
so I mentioned i was in the middle of day 4 when i left off.
i had done logger.js and hacknet-manager.js
at this point i have a logger in any script after importing it, and i have hacknet manager making me early game ram money, but nothing spectacular.
it's been a few irl days. at the time of writing it (the hacknet) has made me $18b. i'll start off by saying i got a tor router, bought all the port openers and then i spent as much money as i could on ram.
that left me with $4b and a max of 4.1 TB of ram on the home machine, which is enough to do a fair bit of nonsense.
up until now i haven't run a hack(), weaken() or grow() on any servers, which makes me feel awful. exclusively hacknet money.
irl day 4.5
i spent most of the tail end of day 4 writing what became my host scanning script.
there are many like it, but this one is mine. at the moment there isn't a lot to it.
hosts.js
/** @class Hosts : class constructed to retrieve a scanned-servers-list. */ export class Hosts { /** @type {Map} servers : a map of servers, keyed by name. */ #dictionary; /** @param {NS} ns : needed for host function suppliers. */ constructor(ns) { this.#dictionary = new Map(); // prime our hosts object with pending and scanned arrays let hosts = [ns.getHostname()]; // loop over the pending array which grows concurrently while (hosts.length > 0) { // pop a host from the stack let host = hosts.pop(); // make a server object to represent them if (!this.#dictionary.has(host)) { this.#dictionary.set(host, new Host(ns, host)); // add their connections to our pending list hosts.push(...ns.scan(host)); } } } get dictionary() { return this.#dictionary; } list() { return this.dictionary.values(); } } /** @class Host : An object containing utilities germane to a particular server */ export class Host { /** @type {NS} ns : a captured instance of NS needed for the server's various functions. */ #ns; /** @param {string} host */ constructor(ns, host) { this.#ns = ns; this.name = host; } currentMoney() { return this.#ns.getServerMoneyAvailable(this.name); } idealMoney() { return this.#ns.getServerMaxMoney(this.name); } currentSecurity() { return this.#ns.getServerSecurityLevel(this.name); } idealSecurity() { return this.#ns.getServerMinSecurityLevel(this.name); } hackingLevel() { return this.#ns.getServerRequiredHackingLevel(this.name); } portsToNuke() { return this.#ns.getServerNumPortsRequired(this.name); } hasRoot() { return this.#ns.hasRootAccess(this.name); } usedRam() { return this.#ns.getServerUsedRam(this.name); } maxRam() { return this.#ns.getServerMaxRam(this.name); } currentRam() { return this.maxRam() - this.usedRam(); } hasFile(s) { return this.#ns.fileExists(s, this.name); } }
the idea is if i need a host list in a script, i import hosts.js and then i can just do this
import { Hosts } from "hosts.js"; ... const hosts = new Hosts(ns);
that gives me a hosts object with a dictionary property and a list() method for either fetching specific hosts by name, or simply iterating over the values of the dictionary as an array; i often need both.
the point later is to be able to write plain-english looking stuff like this:
if (host.currentRam() >= script.ramNeeded() && host.hasRoot()) { host.tryExecute(script.fileName); // where tryExecute copies the file if needed }
anyway i'm getting ahead of myself, we're not there yet. after i finished hosts i mostly took a break for a couple of days, because i had too much irl stuff to do.
irl day 5, 6?
i didn't get to write much on either of these days, too busy. but i spent a small amount of time writing something that became useful not too long after.
exploits.js
/** @class Exploits : class holding a collection of 5 port-breaking exploits */ export class Exploits { /** @type {Exploit[]} list : an array of exploits ordered by cost */ #list; /** @param {NS} ns : needed for exploit function suppliers. */ constructor(ns) { this.#list = [ new Exploit("BruteSSH.exe", 0, (s) => ns.brutessh(s)), new Exploit("FTPCrack.exe", 1, (s) => ns.ftpcrack(s)), new Exploit("relaySMTP.exe", 2, (s) => ns.relaysmtp(s)), new Exploit("HTTPWorm.exe", 3, (s) => ns.httpworm(s)), new Exploit("SQLInject.exe", 4, (s) => ns.sqlinject(s)) ]; } /** @type {Exploit[]} list : the array of the five exploits */ get list() { return this.#list; } } /** @class Exploit : class representing an exploit and the {NS} method to run. */ export class Exploit { constructor(fileName, index, execute) { this.fileName = fileName; this.index = index; this.execute = execute; } }
while not especially complicated, the point of exploits.js is just to contain the logic of the exploits and running them, and give me a clean list of them when i need it. frankly there's only one thing i need it for. more on day 7.
irl day 7
today is the day i came back and did some new stuff. i didn't get a ton done because i had just a couple of hours to work on it, but i managed to put the finishing touches on an automatic port opener, using my hosts.js and my exploits.js scripts in conjunction with each other.
i kept trying to do things in a static context and having weird bugs. either i don't know how static context works in javascript, or bitburner itself isn't a fan. i wanted to make it so that all scripts which use exploits and hosts merely initialize a static collection of them, so they could be shared across all scripts instead of instanced. i found this had really strange behaviors (e.g. scripts suddenly aborting with no logging or error). when i changed to instances of them, things "just worked". anecdotally, LogLevels works fine and it's all static. i just don't know what i did wrong. i'll stick with what works for now.
(update: yichizhng on the discord confirmed my suspicion that static contexts act strangely, recommended putting things into globalThis or even window. tempting)
root-auto.js
import { Hosts, Host } from "hosts.js"; import { Exploits } from "exploits.js"; import { Logger, LogLevels } from "logger.js"; /** @param {NS} ns */ export async function main(ns) { const logger = new Logger(ns, LogLevels.info); const hosts = new Hosts(ns); // seed hosts. const exploits = new Exploits(ns); const home = hosts.dictionary.get("home"); let isDone = false; while (!isDone) { isDone = true; let portOpeners = 0; for (const exploit of exploits.list) { logger.trace(`searching for exploit ${exploit.fileName}`); if (home.hasFile(exploit.fileName)) { portOpeners++; logger.trace(`found exploit ${exploit.fileName}, portOpeners set to ${portOpeners}`); } } // loop over hosts for (const host of hosts.list()) { if (host.hasRoot()) { continue; } logger.trace(`attempting to crack host ${host.name} with ${portOpeners} exploits.`); if (host.portsToNuke() > portOpeners) { isDone = false; continue; } // loop over exploits by index for (const exploit of exploits.list) { if (!home.hasFile(exploit.fileName)) { continue; } logger.debug(`exploiting host ${host.name} with ${exploit.fileName}`); exploit.execute(host.name); } logger.info(`nuking host ${host.name}`); ns.nuke(host.name); } await ns.sleep(1000); } }
at long last a script that actually does things. this script automatically opens the ports of all hosts (and then it roots them) if and when it can, while monitoring your home machine to see if you've bought a port opener. i like how it works.
anyway i know it isn't much but i thought i'd share some nonzero progress.
tomorrow i think will start earnestly working towards the daemon, but i can't promise i won't get distracted. i might like to build a server-farm-manager, as those can be extremely handy in the early game.
hopefully more soon.
Update: made it more clear that the crack-auto.js is auto-nuking, not just opening ports. Changed the name from crack-auto to root-auto, since that's really what it's seeking to do: nuke every machine. idk, sometimes i quibble over names.

I'm willing to reset and start with you from scratch.
Also I am open do dive into project work or other ways get practical experience.
I’m german so speaking german is preferred but not required.

2024.02.29 10:41 zlaxy Forgers database

Forgers database
Among “People of the Book” it is customary to believe what is written in their scriptures. Today, this category of people could include not only followers of Abrahamic religions, but also those who are accustomed to believing a separate category of non-religious writings. As a rule, in such cases, the concept of “holiness” of scriptures is substituted for the concept of “academic authority,” but the principle itself remains the same. As a result, the perceptions of the past and present of the world around us for those who are accustomed to believing scriptures backed by academic authority are shaped by such secular books.
That said, many highly specialised academic specialists are often aware of and report on the abundant practice of deliberate forgery in their particular areas of expertise, but more often than not their focus does not extend beyond their specialisms. For example, the established art historian specialising in Germany) has detailed the massive fabrication of German Renaissance artifacts, but at the same time has not even questioned artifacts from other regions and time periods. For example, the major authority in the field of Roman, Jewish and Christian numismatics, honestly wrote about the fact that only separately taken so-called “Paduan” fake coins find a place in almost all cabinets of collectors of antique coins, noting their high quality, but at the same time he did not even questioned the time period of origin of lower quality items. For example, the honorable comparativist and historian of European culture systematised the widespread cases of “editing the memory of nations,” the deliberate falsification of the cultural past (primarily literary heritage) in the process of creating national identities in Europe, but at the same time did not even question the ancient national history in other parts of the world.
By default, preferring not to believe everything that is written in holy religious or academic scriptures, and proceeding from the fact that perhaps almost everything written in them is a deliberate forgery, for myself i decided to try to systematise the data on forgeries and started the project of the database of forgers: forgers of almost all fields of human activity and of all known times.
So far, i’m little by little filling the database with only the persons of generally recognised forgers. Despite the fact that short biographical articles about these individuals often read like fascinating adventurous fiction, in fact, so far it is, with few exceptions, a database of “losers and non-professionals” of their work, that is, those who have been exposed. In the future i plan to begin to fill up the database with alleged falsifiers, having collected enough data on connections with separate persons and organisations of already exposed falsifiers.
https://preview.redd.it/4x0vy6r1whlc1.jpg?width=1065&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a6e16fbf567af4296273c0f337b53b0e02895d7
Thus, for example, in specialised articles about the Spanish Forger (the name given to an unknown person who created a large number of forgeries of medieval miniatures) it was mentioned that the forged miniatures in the British Museum came through the dealer Wilfred Leonardovich Voynich. At the same time, this fact is not mentioned in the vast majority of biographies of Voynich himself, in which he appears only as a London antiquarian of Polish origin, the discoverer of the famous Voynich Manuscript. At the same time, some researchers have already questioned the authenticity of the provenance of the famous manuscript before its discovery by Voynich, suggesting its fabrication, but most academic researchers still recognsie its authenticity, puzzling over its mystery. The fact that the antiquary sold authentically identified forgeries obviously casts doubt on his other finds, including the famous manuscript.
Also in the future, i plan to start including in the database separate articles about generally recognised forgeries, the authors of which have not yet been identified. Perhaps, in time, filling the database through the field of related persons and organisations will allow to assume their authors through the discovered connections.
At the moment, the database shows a significant predominance of British and Italian forgers (including mention of institutions for their special training, such as the school of forgers in Siena or the academy of forgers that operated in Catania and Acireale), which, in my opinion, does not indicate a low level of quality of forgeries or a special frankness of researchers from these countries compared to representatives of other countries, but that the total number of forgers in these two countries is noticeably higher than in other countries. After all, the generally recognised forgers are only a small part of the total set of forgers.
A record of a forger in the database currently consists of the following fields: name, article, links, also known as, activity years, area of activity, locations, related regions, related persons and organisations, authenticity of fakes supported by, exposed by, attributed authors, notable forgeries, kept in, images. The article is usually quotations from material in the attached links, from which the rest of the fields are populated. This is a project i started for myself, but i would appreciate additions, corrections and revisions from anyone who decides to participate. The project is completely open and therefore anyone who is interested can participate.
The database is available in two languages: Russian and English. At the moment it takes only about 1 megabyte and is stored in a table in CSV format. To display it, i have written a simple javascript web application, the capabilities of which i plan to expand over time. Adding and editing records in the database is implemented through cgi bash-script, with the help of which the added or edited information is saved in a separate file on the server, that is, replenishment of the general database is done manually, with my editing of the added information (and, if necessary, translation). The web application source code and database are available in the repository at gitlab.com, and the collection of images on the page at archive.org.
You can check out the forger database of the current version at this link: https://is3.soundragon.su/fdb
