2024.05.15 12:35 DONT_READ_THIS_OKAY KHARKOV IS THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR THE KIEV REGIME

KHARKOV IS THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR THE KIEV REGIME
https://preview.redd.it/0v3fm7etjk0d1.jpg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d5af6aa045e11c6e7c978dee1dedb173975273f
There will be no stopping Russia now. Front after front will open up against a faltering Ukrainian army delivering blow after blow to the terrorist regime that has so betrayed the Ukrainian people.
The Kharkov front will have been extremely well planned so the chances of its being anything but a total success for Russia are negligible.
Complete success is more or less assured due to many factors connected to the weakness of the Kiev regime's forces. These are in regard to a lack of both manpower and fire power. Another factor to take into account is that Ukrainian forces in the region have a high percentage of those who were forced into the Ukrainian army. They will, to a high degree, not wish to be there or to fight and will be inclined to either run away or attempt to surrender.
Russia may well open yet another front or two. One in the Sumy region is more or less certain. Another directed toward Odessa is on the cards. Meanwhile a surge forward in the areas left vulnerable through Ukrainian military assets being transferred to the Kharkov region can be expected.
Expect a massive thrust forward by Russia on multiple fronts including several new strategic areas. Russia has had up to 100,000 new troops in training for some 9 to 12 months now and these will be ready to perform diverse duties as required, whether on active duty, security support, logistical support or policing.
The breakthrough in the north now occurring will be much enhanced by the forward movement expected by Russian troops in the Sumy direction. Currently the softening up process of Ukrainian defences there is ongoing and once completed it appears inevitable that we will see a speedy Russian advance to take villages and towns in a similar manner to the Kharkov front.
It is to be expected that after the present Russian force attains certain goals in terms of taking particular towns then a second wave of Russian troops and logistical support will come forward to secure the areas taken. Then the Russian military will move further still taking ever more towns as they go. At later stages a third and fourth wave will enter.
Meanwhile Tony Blinken, Rishi Sunak and others such as Scholz of Germany are acting their parts attempting to put a brave and determined face on things. As their protestations of eternal support for Ukraine become ever more commonly heard from their lips you can be assured that they are voiced in a vain attempt to cover the awful reality on the battlefield. Sooner or later that semantic fig leaf will be blown away leaving them completely naked. Total humiliation and eating crow will be their lot with no semantic escape left open to them.
Russia is clearly winning hands down and there appear to be no possible future eventualities to seriously mitigate against this continuing. All the game changer weapons the West has sent the Ukrainian regime have quite clearly failed to change the course of the war. The western policy of hoping to increase the Kiev regime's chances at the inevitable negotiations table has completely failed. Just like the sanctions regime against Russia failed, just as the "game changer" weapons failed and all else the West tried, the western powers are now headed for a failure that is complete and terminal and from which there will be no recovery.
We are seeing the end result of much thought on the best way to break the Ukrainian army and the regime forcing the Ukrainian people into a fight with Russia they never wanted. Zelensky was overwhelmingly elected to make peace with Russia not further expand the war his predecessors began in the east in 2014.
NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg has recently issued a statement saying the West will not help a defeated Ukraine. This shows the contempt with which the western leaders hold the Ukrainians. His words are clearly meant as a threat to blackmail every Ukrainian to lay down their lives in a lost cause, to urge them to die fighting or be left to rot in a ruined Ukraine where all the words of eternal support for Ukraine from the West are shown to be barefaced lies.
With Ukraine's economy in ruins and no help coming from the West there will be a steady migration east to the prospering Russian lands of Novorossiya. This will be the final and lasting humiliation for the leaders of the collective West who have so badly abused the Ukrainian people for their own self-interested geopolitical ends.
In Kharkov and soon in Sumy and elsewhere the West will be delivered a blow from which it will never fully recover. All the propaganda, misinformation, fake news and wishful thinking, all the tame “experts” prattling about a Ukrainian victory and Russian defeat won’t help them then. They will stare into the eyes of defeat and be rendered helpless, humiliated and appropriate candidates for loathing they most certainly deserve. There has arguably never before been such a vile spectacle of monumental evil and despicable recklessness than that displayed by the western political and media elites over Russia and Ukraine.
Russia’s victory will be a decisive victory. The despicable Ukrainian regime that now squats in Kiev will be defeated absolutely and made to leave power in disgrace, opening the way for all the changes Russia has demanded. These will of course include Ukraine’s neutrality in perpetuity, its demilitarization and denazification and a guarantee of perpetual security for the Russian language and the Russian-speaking population of both rump Ukraine and the newly formed Russian region of Novorossiya to the east.

2024.05.15 12:29 Adventurous6962 GameStop shares skyrocket 240% 🚀 Is the meme stock frenzy making a comeback?

All article: https://www.useyourbrainforex.com/post/gamestop-stock-skyrockets-240-is-the-meme-frenzy-back-with-a-vengeance
Big news in the stock market today – GameStop shares have surged over 240% in just five days! 😲🚀 The buzz is back, and it feels a lot like the 2021 meme stock frenzy all over again.
So, what’s driving this crazy uptick? It all started when Keith Gill, aka "Roaring Kitty," reappeared online after a three-year hiatus. Over the weekend, he posted a meme on X (formerly known as Twitter) and followed up with several videos and pictures, sparking renewed interest in GameStop among retail investors.
Back in 2021, we saw GameStop's stock price skyrocket by over 1,000%, shaking Wall Street to its core. This was largely driven by retail investors banding together, often coordinating through social media, to buy up shares and defy hedge funds that were shorting the stock. This led to massive losses for some institutional investors and huge gains for early retail investors.
Now, with GameStop's recent surge, we’re seeing similar movements in other meme stocks too, like AMC Entertainment, which also rose by over 200%. Analysts are buzzing with speculation about whether we’re about to see another wave of meme stock mania.
Myron Jobson from Interactive Investor pointed out that this surge seems more about the Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) rather than any real improvement in GameStop's business fundamentals. So, it’s definitely a risky game – make sure to do your own research and be cautious!
Neil Wilson from Finalto commented on the wild resurgence, noting the renewed excitement among retail investors. It seems like the meme stock phenomenon isn’t cooling down anytime soon.
What do you all think? Are we in for another meme stock rollercoaster? Share your thoughts and let's discuss! 🗣️💬

I love physics, I swear I do. The moment it was properly introduced to us me, I quickly found it fascinating.
Under the many versions of science, it quickly became my 2nd favorite, falling just under astronomy.
But one prpblem is, I SUCK at it—And I don't just mean that I can't understand the super complicated equations you'd typically see on the mind of a genius character in cartoons, but I genuinely have such a hard time understanding some of it.
I can barely even remember which one would receive the greater impact after collision between a vehicle moving at 60 m/s and a vehicle moving at 100 m/s
Now that I've learned the fact that I'm absolutely just dumb at it, it makes me sad, because I find it so beautiful, and I want to know more. I want to know everything about it.
"Well, just research it!" That's one of the main problems for me. I'm a person whose attention span is just so short, and for some unlucky reason, I'm terrible at finding interesting videos about the current topic I want to learn about. Well, I mean who wouldn't get bored of listening to some guy just pull up his notes app and talk in such a boring tone, right??
I don't know how to fix this, and I would appreciate any suggestions and recommendations.

2024.05.15 12:25 camorida High school diploma vs college degree for medical school admissions

Crossposting from medicalschoolRomania
Hello! I am considering applying to medical school in Romania or another affordable country in the EU in the next few years. Long story short, I am studying Respiratory Therapy which is an Associates degree in the USA because I need a decent paying job to save money to pay for med school tuition for about 2-3 years. I believe I will be about 31-32 by the time I am ready to apply.
I am particularly interested in a university in Romania, but, I am a bit confused about admission requirements. I see that it is mostly tailored towards young people who are just graduating high school and I graduated 10 years ago with a D average! However, I took a lot of time off between high school and college and I am maintaining a 3.5 (A,B average) college GPA now.
For the people who have had associates or bachelors degree before applying, does that make you a more competitive applicant? I was considering emailing the school to ask but in my research, I found that a lot of Eastern European schools are notoriously bad at responding to email inquiries.

Kansas

Despite voters overwhelmingly rejecting a constitutional amendment that would have allowed abortion restrictions in the state, Kansas Republicans passed several anti-abortion bills into law late last month, overriding the governor’s veto.
The first bill, HB 2436, makes it a crime to “coerce” someone into having an abortion. Democrats attempted to widen the scope of the bill to include all kinds of reproductive coercion, like pressuring someone to become or stay pregnant and prohibiting their access to birth control, and enshrine a right to “reproductive autonomy.” Republicans voted down the amendment.
The second bill, HB 2749, requires medical facilities and providers to (1) ask patients their reason for having an abortion and (2) report the data, including personal information about the patient, to the legislature every other year. Gov. Laura Kelly (D) agreed with the objections of Democrats and reproductive rights advocates, saying when she vetoed the bill that there is “no valid reason to force a woman to disclose to the legislature why she is seeking an abortion.”
  • Democrats offered numerous amendments to HB 2749, including one to require men to report to the legislature their reasons for having a vasectomy and another requiring men to report why they are seeking treatment for erectile dysfunction. Republicans rejected all of them.
Finally, the Republican legislature overrode Kelly’s line-item veto allocating $2 million to the Pregnancy Compassion Awareness Program, created last year with a different veto override. The program is run by an anti-abortion group called the Kansas Pregnancy Care Network, which refers pregnant people to crisis pregnancy centers designed to use misleading information to discourage them from obtaining an abortion.

Louisiana

Louisiana’s legislature is doubling down on its anti-abortion laws, passing bills to increase criminalization and refusing to add exemptions to its abortion ban.
Earlier this month, the Louisiana House took up a bill passed by the Senate that would make it a crime, punishable by jail time, to possess abortion-inducing medication. SB 276, sponsored by 23 Republicans and one Democrat, was initially written to create a punishment for coercing someone into an abortion without their knowledge or consent (e.g. spiking a drink). However, House legislators recently added an amendment to the bill that classifies mifepristone and misoprostol as Schedule IV substances alongside some opioids and benzodiazepines. A pregnant person possessing the drugs for their own use could not be charged, but others who intend to distribute them to pregnant people seeking an abortion or store them for their own potential future use would face up to ten years in prison.
“Neither is a drug of abuse or dependence, and that is what the controlled drug schedule is for,” said [emergency room Dr. Jennifer] Avegno of the abortion drugs. “It makes no scientific or medical sense to put these drugs in the same category as Xanax or Valium.”
Mifepristone is a drug that blocks a hormone called progesterone, which is necessary for a pregnancy to continue. Misoprostol causes uterine contractions, causing the body to expel the pregnancy tissue. Mifepristone is also used to treat Cushing’s disease, a hormonal disorder. Misoprostol is also used to induce labor, manage a miscarriage and in the treatment of ulcers. Neither are addictive. “People do not go around taking them and getting dependent and having bad outcomes because of it,” said Avegno. “It’s like saying your blood pressure medicine or insulin is a drug of abuse.”
A week later, Republicans on the House Criminal Justice Committee voted 7-4 to reject a bill to add rape and incest exceptions to the state’s total abortion ban. House Bill 164, written by Democratic Rep. Delisha Boyd, would have allowed girls younger than 17 to have abortions if they became pregnant as the result of sexual assault.
“That baby [in the womb] is innocent … We have to hang on to that,” said committee member Rep. Dodie Horton, R-Haughton, who voted against the bill. Rep. Lauren Ventrella, R-Greenwell Spring, also voted against the legislation, saying the proposed law would be difficult to enforce. Teenagers who had consensual sex might feign rape or incest in order to get access to abortion services, she suggested…
Dr. Neelima Sukhavasi, a Baton Rouge doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, also implored the lawmakers to approve Boyd’s proposal. She and her colleagues have delivered babies for pregnant teenagers, including mothers as young as 13, since Louisiana’s abortion ban went into effect two years ago. These young pregnant people can experience health complications that affect them for the rest of their lives, Sukhavasi said, and sometimes don’t have the mental capacity to handle the births. “One of these teenagers delivered a baby while clutching a teddy bear,” she told the committee.
The Committee also killed three other bills: HB 56, to allow abortions in cases of spontaneous miscarriage or nonviable pregnancy; HB 63, to clarify that the removal of an ectopic pregnancy is not an abortion under state law; HB 293, to add protection for physicians who do not intend to induce abortion by prescribing certain medications.

Texas

Meanwhile, in Texas—a state that pioneered the war on women and reproductive rights—a man initiated legal action to sue people who helped his former partner obtain an out-of-state abortion.
The man, Collin Davis, filed a petition in a state district court seeking permission to launch legal depositions to collect evidence for a potential lawsuit under a Texas law that contains civil liability for anyone who “aids and abets” an abortion. According to his lawyer, Jonathan Mitchell (who crafted the anti-abortion law), Davis is seeking to sue “co-conspirators and accomplices…involved in the murder of [his] unborn child.”
“Fathers of aborted fetuses can sue for wrongful death in states with abortion bans, even if the abortion occurs out-of-state,” he wrote. “They can sue anyone who paid for the abortion, anyone who aided or abetted the travel, and anyone involved in the manufacture or distribution of abortion drugs.”
Molly Duane, a senior staff attorney with the Center for Reproductive Rights, described Mitchell’s statement and general approach as misleading “fearmongering.”
“People need to understand that it is not a crime to leave Texas or any other state in the country for an abortion,” said Duane, who is working with lawyers from the firm Arnold & Porter to represent the woman and others targeted in the Davis case. “I don’t want people to be intimidated, but they should be outraged and alarmed.” Duane described the woman’s relationship with Davis as “toxic and harmful.”
Mitchell also represents a different man who pursued a similar claim last year: Marcus Silva engaged Mitchell to sue the friends of his estranged wife for allegedly helping her obtain abortion pills. Evidence later revealed that Silva knew about the plans beforehand and did not intervene, likely intending to use the threat of legal action as a way of forcing his partner to halt divorce proceedings.
Monday’s counterclaim illustrates, in painstaking detail, exactly how Silva—aided by Mitchell—allegedly deployed this tactic. It was only after Brittni’s abortion was complete that Silva revealed he knew about the plan and, according to the lawsuit, threatened to turn her in if she didn’t submit to his continued abuse. He even showed the police photographs of messages discussing the possibility of an abortion. “Once I finally got home with the girls he had been drinking and he told me that he knew,” Brittni texted one friend. “He’s using it against me.” In another message, she wrote, “Now he’s saying if I don’t give him my ‘mind body and soul’ until the end of the divorce, which he’s going to drag out, he’s going to make sure I go to jail for doing it.” […]
The counterclaim points out another flaw in his argument: Silva himself “is responsible for the alleged injury for which he seeks to recover.” He “knew that Brittni planned to terminate her alleged pregnancy and acquiesced in accepting Brittni’s actions,” so “it would be unconscionable to permit him to benefit by changing his position now.” His claims, in short, are barred “by unclean hands,” because he effectively entrapped his estranged wife—covertly discovering her plan to terminate the pregnancy, then allowing her to go through with it for the express purpose of blackmailing her into staying with him.

Indiana

A three-judge panel of the Indiana Court of Appeals last month unanimously recognized a religious freedom challenge to the state’s complete ban on abortion.
The case, brought by Hoosier Jews for Choice and four anonymous women of various faiths, alleges that the ban interferes with “their sincere religious beliefs that require and direct them to obtain abortions” criminalized since the law took effect in 2023. According to Jewish law, a fetus does not have personhood until birth, and abortion is required if the pregnancy endangers the life or health of the mother.
Brief of Hoosier Jews for Choice (and other plaintiffs): As indicated by the declarations of numerous rabbis, Judaism teaches that a fetus becomes a living person only at birth, and prior to that is considered part of the woman’s body, without independent rights. Abortion should occur and is mandated to end a pregnancy that may cause serious consequences to a woman’s mental or physical heath. Judaism also recognizes that physical health risks are not limited to those likely to cause substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function. Judaism stresses the necessity of protecting the physical and mental health of the woman—a life—over the potential for life present in a zygote, embryo, or fetus. Therefore, restrictions that prevent a woman from obtaining an abortion where compelled by Jewish law, which mandates that the woman act to protect her physical or mental health, impose a substantial burden on that person’s religious exercise.
Under Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), “a governmental entity may not substantially burden a personʹs exercise of religion,” defined to include “any exercise of religion, whether or not compelled by, or central to, a system of religious belief.” This means that arguments about whether plaintiffs are strictly observant are irrelevant; the law protects sincerely held religious views regardless of whether that view is idiosyncratic or unorthodox. However, even a law that imposes a substantial burden on the exercise of religion can be enforced if it is “the least restrictive means of furthering [a] compelling governmental interest” (the strict scrutiny test).
The state argued that abortion does not carry “religious significance” and, even if it did, the abortion ban satisfies strict scrutiny because it is “sufficiently narrowly tailored” to “further the State’s interest” in “protecting human lives in the womb.” Throughout Indiana’s brief, the state attempts to use science to back up fetal personhood, extending developmental physiology to make unfounded claims that protected life unquestionably begins at conception:
In lower courts, the State’s compelling interest is not up for debate. In Cheaney v. State, the Indiana Supreme Court held that the State’s interest in protecting unborn children is “valid and compelling” from “the moment of conception.” …A basic understanding of biology supports these holdings. “That human fetuses are human beings is a scientific fact, not a theological claim.” Regardless whether an individual person believes this, “the scientific consensus” is that “[d]evelopment begins at fertilization,” after which the newly created “unicellular zygote divides many times and becomes progressively transformed into a multicellular human being through cell division, migration, growth, and differentiation.” …. Science thus tells us that “[t]he act of performing an induced abortion during any stage of pregnancy, from fertilization up to birth, ends the life of an innocent human being.” The State’s interest in protecting unborn fetal life at any stage from intentional destruction accordingly is nothing less than “compelling.”
A panel of the Indiana Court of Appeals—made up of a Republican appointee and two Democratic appointees—unanimously ruled against the state, upholding a lower court’s injunction against the abortion ban as it applies to the plaintiffs. In the process, the court laid out a path for religious freedom challenges to abortion bans in other states and at the federal level.
The trial court found that absent a preliminary injunction, Plaintiffs would be irreparably harmed by the loss of their religious freedoms guaranteed by RFRA. A loss of First Amendment freedoms, which include the right to free exercise of religion, “for even minimal periods of time, unquestionably constitutes irreparable injury.”... Without a preliminary injunction, Plaintiffs will suffer the loss of their right to exercise their sincere religious beliefs by obtaining an abortion when directed by their religion and prohibited by the Abortion Law. They also have shown their sexual and reproductive lives will continue to be restricted absent the injunction and as a result of the Abortion Law.

2024.05.15 12:22 camorida Bad high school grades but good college grades, what are my chances?

Hello! I am considering applying to medical school in Romania in the next few years. Long story short, I am studying Respiratory Therapy which is an Associates degree in the USA because I need a decent paying job to save money to pay for med school tuition for about 2-3 years. I believe I will be about 31-32 by the time I am ready to apply.
I am interested in the university at Timisoara, but, I am a bit confused about admission requirements.
I was considering emailing the school to ask but in my research, I found that a lot of Romanian schools are notoriously bad at responding to email inquiries.

2024.05.15 12:18 Altaccountforadvice1 I keep having dreams about being ignored

I keep having dreams where I’m violently hurt (examples being put under surgery with no anesthesia, bitten by spiders, shot, attacked, stabbed, etc) and I’m screaming for help, but nobody will listen. When they do listen, they’re pretty uninterested in my crying and screaming. Tonight I had a super disturbing dream where I got bitten by a spider and was actively rotting from the inside out. I could feel it, my limbs were going numb and red. I was crying and screaming as loud as I could right in front of my parents and they were more interested in finding the spider and researching it instead of looking at me at all. I’ve also had dreams where I get ignored by hospitals and doctors while my teeth fall out. It’s disturbing

2024.05.15 12:16 Void_being420 If You're looking to invest in Basant Maheshwari's BM TOP 10 or similar smallcases, Read this before you buy it

This post is majorly focused on the BM TOP 10 or smallcases that invest in large-cap stocks.
Returns on BM TOP 10 in the past 5 months
https://preview.redd.it/esmhjafqsj0d1.png?width=830&format=png&auto=webp&s=8d8a1353f22df8e537cb5ec25f95d8253f68fe52

In the past 5 months, this smallcase has overall given -2.16% returns, whereas the underlying benchmark has given 5.63% returns in the same period. I know the data of investment is for a short-term time period, so they might in future outperform the index, or maybe not. Let's dive into it.

  1. Research shows that 74% of actively managed funds underperform the benchmark index. This is also mentioned by Bogle in his book, where he states that if you continue to invest in an index fund at the end of the investment journey, you will be above the 85th percentile of people, i.e., 'you can beat 85% of active investors by doing nothing.' I have seen BM's recent video where he was criticizing index investing. However, as soon as he talks about the Nifty, he gives an example of the Nikkei and how it was unable to reach its top in 30 years, completely ignoring the diversity between India and Japan. In Japan, when the bubble crashed in 1992, the PE was around 75-80 (Nifty PE is ~21). Japan, at the time, had majorly exhausted its majorly infrastructure & other development opportunity , and China became the manufacturing hub, limiting Japanese growth opportunities. Whereas India, since Independence, has always been a developing economy and will continue to be at least until 2040, whichever political party comes into power. It will grow. BM completely ignores the US Index because that would be bad for his business, and people won't entertain his product. In my opinion, India will follow the US footsteps in terms of index investing because of the immense growth potential. I have also read BM's book 'The Thoughtful Investor,' where he criticized Sensex by saying, "IF YOU INVESTED AT THE PEAK OF THE HARSHAD MEHTA SCAM, YOU WOULD HAVE MADE NO RETURN FOR THE NEXT 15 YEARS," ignoring the existence of SIP. Any person with even slight knowledge of the market can see a this person's vendetta against index investing. I CAN GUARANTEE YOU THAT IF ANYTHING LIKE JAPAN EVER HAPPENS, THEN EVEN HIS SMALLCASE WOULD BE IN THE SAME BOAT.
  2. So, even after reading this, if you still think the BM TOP 10 smallcase is better for you, let's move to the Second Chapter: FEES
https://preview.redd.it/af1570ys0k0d1.png?width=965&format=png&auto=webp&s=3dd7a0d3793db2652b734af682ed87a2ce60fa60
FEES is something that was also criticized by Bogle. He mentions that the 'AGENT' who convinces you to invest in his personal FUND/PMS has the main objective of filling their own pockets, not increasing your portfolio. They will attract you with past returns, but as often said, 'past performance is no guarantee of future returns.' Now, the expense ratio of the Navi Nifty Fund is 0.06%. So, if you want to invest an amount more than Rs. 15.35 crores (92156/0.06%), [i.e., if you are confident that he will be able to beat the index consistently in the next 5-10-20 years], Only then you should consider investing in the BM TOP 10 smallcase.
  1. If you still want to invest because of the THOUGHT PROCESS, let's move to the **THIRD CHAPTER: THOUGHT PROCESS.**You can check his video when he started this smallcase. His major reason for starting this fund was that he was CONFIDENT OF MULTIPLE INTEREST RATE CUTS BY THE FED in 2024. We all know how this turned out now. The market is currently assuming probably one rate cut at the end of the year. So, basically, his entire reason for starting this smallcase was that the FED would cut interest rates, leading to investment flowing into large-cap stocks. He personally never liked large-caps while labeling most of them as MOTA-HATHI (SLOW MOVERS), which basically means he has no personal conviction towards large-caps other than the interest rate cut, which didn't turn out too well at least for now.
  2. If you still want to invest because of 'ACTIVE MANAGEMENT' or you think they 'WILL' beat the index, let's move to the FOURTH CHAPTER: ALTERNATIVES.I have selected the first fund that came to my mind, 'QUANT LARGECAP' (you could also check for other alternatives). In the last 5 months, QUANT or some other large-cap funds have given 8~12% returns.
https://preview.redd.it/dma64bcz7k0d1.png?width=765&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad050a03a0751081840e865132347f492c5bdcb6
https://preview.redd.it/r6jy1mxz7k0d1.png?width=737&format=png&auto=webp&s=464b1bf3004e65bfc3f9d4d6e30cb42dfc250d0f
https://preview.redd.it/687tnre08k0d1.png?width=726&format=png&auto=webp&s=b7155971ede1c9d21230346e2075df24bf09416a
Now, a fund like QUANT has an expense ratio of 0.59%, which means you should choose BM TOP 10 IF you want to invest more than Rs. 1.56 crores (considering the fact that BM TOP 10 could beat the QUANT Large Cap Fund consistently in the longer term). This active large-cap fund also invests in futures and options, whether to hedge risk or perform strategies like covered calls, etc., which is likely not to happen in smallcases like BM TOP 10.
  1. If you still want to invest because of professional advisory, let's move to the **FIFTH CHAPTER: DO IT YOURSELF.**If you still consider investing in this smallcase, then you must have a portfolio of at least multiple crores. It's not as difficult as people want you to believe to invest in stocks. Taking into account that you stick to large-caps (as they are more reliable and less likely to fudge the data), volatility in large-caps is limited, and it's very unlikely for a large-cap to go to zero. AND IF you're still not confident, then you always have can always go back to Nifty ETF or Mutual Fund. (as mentioned at the start 'sometime the best strategy is to do noting'- John Bogle)
And if you think I am personally targeting him for his political view or for any other reason, I have also written this post https://www.reddit.com/IndianStockMarket/comments/196bfwx/basant_maheshwari_what_ive_learned_from_him/?onetap_auto=true&one_tap=true which is +ve stuff about him
You should read "The Little Book of Common Sense Investing" by John Bogle for a better understanding of my points mentioned. Bogle is the person who started the index investing fund Vanguard, and the investment style is named after him, 'BOGLEHEAD.' His investment is also acknowledged by people like Peter Lynch & Warren Buffett.

2024.05.15 12:12 Intelligent-Gold-563 Original Character Sheet for you !

Hello everyone !
I don't know if any of you had the same thought as I did but.... man, don't those character sheets for our PCs just suck ? Especially compared to the character sheet of pre-generated character in the starter kit or what ?
Where are the colors and dynamism and fun ?!
Well, I took upon myself to create character sheet modelled after the pre-generated one and I'm giving them to you free of charge, cause I'm just that nice with a little sneak peak !
But wait, there's more ?
YES ! There is !
With my players, we weren't really satisfied with several rules of the game so we created our own homebrew rules for a couple things and due to that, I started creating original character sheet. It's still a WIP that needs to be a bit more refining regarding the overall aesthetic but all the element and composition of the sheet are already there so you can take a look. I even added the Scribus file in it if any of you want to have fun and change stuff to match your games.
As for our homebrew rules, here is what we changed :
Of course, like I said those are homebrew, you don't have to follow them and you have access to the template file so you can change whatever you want.
In any case, I put the link to the drive with all the files for the 14 Playbooks currently available and the Scribus template for the homebrew character sheet, so have fun people !

2024.05.15 12:11 FormalExplanation412 Economic sector analysis supported by ChatGPT, help needed!

Hello! I will premise that I am a novice to the use of Chat GPT for research/analysis purposes but I am looking to find out whether this tool can come in handy for a task I must carry out.
Essentially I am working on the economic analysis of a sector and my analysis is based on data from satellite accounts of different countries (it is a type of national accounting system).
My main concern is that I am unsure whether these countries apply the same methodology to obtain data, and whether they include the same activities in the sector of interest.
Since methodological notes referring to how these data are computed are written in a language different from my own, and are very long, detailed and technical documents which often refer to activities with different classification codes (think NACE vs ISIC) you can understand that the process of verifying correspondences/differences across several of these documents would be very time-consuming.
I was wondering whether Chat GPT could help carry out content analysis of both PDF and excel format documents, as well as helping find correspondences/differences amongst methodologies, applied definitions and economic activities classified under different codes.
Once I ensure data I am using is effectively comparable (meaning that selected countries employ consistent definitions of the sector and more or less the same methodology to compute data), I would use Chat GPT to find data in the excel sheets were the data is stored and help me create a good comparative analysis of the sector across countries.
Can I do this with Chat GPT? How reliable would its output be, given that I provide all correct data and I only use GPT to highlight content within provided data? (I would not be asking GPT to provide data, essentially) I do not have access to GPT 4o at the moment, would you suggest I upgrade to GPT 4 in the meantime and then use GPT 4o when they roll it out in my Country? Will my plan give me access to 4o if I upgrade to 4 now, or will I be charged twice?
Thank you so much

2024.05.15 12:11 mfafl Pakiusap, know your mental health terms.

Some mental health terms are being used lightly and I'll say my point early on:
Don't fucking use my disorder or anyone else's for that matter to make your vocabulary more "colorful". You might use it to add "spice" or make yourself look interesting but the problem is when you fucks actually come across someone who is dealing with that problem in real life, y'all act dumb as shit and treat it like it's a choice to have a disorder. It's really not.
And also, don't self diagnose. Because a lot of you don't even know what makes up a disorder, it is not just sadness or being a control freak. There is always more to a disorder than what is known about it on a surface level.
Now, FOR YOUR REFERENCE. You can search terms on Google but there are just the loose definitions of the following disorders:
Depression - persistent feeling of sadness, emptiness, numbness, basically a lack of a will to live that lasts more than 2 WEEKS. The opposite of depression is not happiness, it is vitality.
OCD - "long-lasting disorder in which a person experiences uncontrollable and recurring thoughts (obsessions), engages in repetitive behaviors (compulsions), or both."
OCD is not wanting to be clean, it is more extreme. You're just a neat freak is you hate off angle things. You might have OCD if you have repetitive behaviors fueled by irrational thoughts. Like tapping your waistband 5-12 times because you think it will help you ace an audition ("I'm Glad My Mom Died" reference) Trauma - a deeply jarring, depressing, disturbing experience.
NOT EVERYTHING IS TRAUMA FOR FUCK'S SAKE. You watching a scary movie isn't traumatizing. It might be trauma if it unconsciously/consciously affects everything about you as a result. How you make choices, how you live your everyday life. I fucking hated the SAW movies but I don't live in fear of the possibility of getting kidnapped and strapped to a torture device. Therefore it was not traumatizing.
BPD/Bipolar - it's not just fucking mood swings, EVERYONE HAS MOOD SWINGS. The difference between your mood swings vs someone with BPD, is that BPD is absolute fucking chaos where a person is constantly switching between mania and depression.
PLEASE DO RESEARCH ON THIS SHIT.

No doubt, it is not for the overly determined industrialist who has a grand plan to collect millions in funding to try his hand at developing a successful business empire.
If you wish to start something new on a small scale with flexible hours, you can look ahead with a small start-up cost. Still, you can enjoy the potential of generating new part-time or even full-time earnings.
If you are interested then, here are the top 7 Good Reasons to Start A Home-Based Travel Business.

1: Make A Beginning With A Part-time Work

If you wish to make a beginning on a new business, the brand may start earning immediately. In the developing period of the business, you as well as your family will still be required to survive so having the flexibility of beginning very part-time so you can keep the present salary stream is essential.
If you are not presently working, by different means, go full force in trying to speed up the development of the new trade. Are you working with some company at present? With a home-based business, you will face no problem starting your travel business and finalizing the hours based on the current job requirements. No matter, whether it is related to answering an email inquiry from a client searching to book a trip, or contacting a business for quotes, one can manage the jobs during the lunch break, just before or right after work. Say thanks to social media, endorsing your business can be completed at any time of the day as long as there are businesses online.

2: No Fixed Education Or Training Compulsory

It varies on where you plan to have the physical business address, proper training is required which includes a manual and exam to sell travel legally. It is surely used in India. Meanwhile, the course must take more than a few days to a week to get ready for and the exams are available multiple choice. If you do research over the internet about how to start a travel business and generate genuine travel leads, you will come across different courses being promoted. It is not a compulsion and surely not something most present travelers have completed. If you consider that is something you require to familiarise yourself with the industry, you can surely go for it. However, it is not the right way to begin and operate a successful home-based travel trade.

3: Affordable Start-Up Cost

There are lots of reasons that make a home-based travel business quite attractive. Here, the start-up cost is quite minimal. According to your budget, you can customize your business. The Host Agency will let you sell travel under their legal registration numbers, and vendor business and give you an all-important resource that needs to travel trade from any remote area.

4: Everyone Love To Travel

When everything is ready in the setup, you are all set to endorse the travel business. Once, you are ready with the setup, you can easily endorse your business; there is no need to wonder if somebody will be willing to the product. No doubt, travel is considered a universal language, and everybody adores speaking it. All you require is to find and calculate what small niche within this giant business you wish to focus on and discover the people who are involved in the area. If you can do that, your client will face no problems during the travel. It becomes easy to support them in making their travel plans.

5: No Need To Have A Physical Office

Surely, it is a good fact that if you search for a home-based business, there will be no need to buy or rent some office space. It implies that you don’t need space to store office equipment. You do not require clients to walk in, and you don’t require housing a lot of staff. Moving a travel business from home has none of these needs as all that is necessary is for you to have a working PC, the internet, a mobile phone, and an email address. The above-mentioned points will surely help you with the right business solution without investing huge money.

6: The Benefits Are Just Wonderful

Some of the people begin their own travel businesses. Not for the extra earnings, but to enjoy the countless unbelievable travel perks that will make their life better. Tours and travel business ideas often get to contribute to all cost-paid or heavily discounted site examination trips to resorts at the renowned tourist ends in the world. Airlines and former travel product vendors offer “traveling business ideas” discounted costs for personal bookings. 2024.05.15 12:07 dolm09 Sharing a list I've put up of 100 General Partners from 50 Venture Capital Firms that invest in Gaming companies

Founder here that has raised +$3M for my previous gaming startup.
I have been scraping data lately and I wanted to share a list I'm pretty happy with, so other gaming founders that are fundraising now can give a good use to this list. The list has info like Fund Name, General Partner Name, Title, Email, LinkedIn Profile, Website, Firm's LinkedIn, Firm's Facebook, Firm's Twitter,Address, Firm's Phone, Description.
What I would do with this list:
  1. Send a personalized cold email to all the General Partners of the firms that you see can be a good fit for your startup.
  2. Visit the investor website.
  3. Go through their portfolio companies.
  4. Find founders that are in a similar industry as your company, or founders that you think would find your startup interesting.
  5. Connect with founders through email or LinkedIn asking about their VC.
  6. Ask for a 15min. video call, share your story and offer help.
  7. If the chemistry is good, kindly ask for a warm intro to the investor.
This way you build momentum from the beginning by sending an email and then, even if they don't respond, a founder of their portfolio has made an intro with you, so you grab their attention from minute 1.
The reason of why I built this list is 1) I know how hard is to do investor research and to find the right investors, and 2) Now I'm building easyvc.ai, an AI that does the whole investor research for you based on your startup description, and then helps you build a pipeline of 100 warm intros with investors.
Just send me a DM and I'll share it with you.

2024.05.15 12:07 getfiio WSJ article about a crackdown looming for bigger investors

After reading the article, it looks like another misleading headline designed to generate buzz by the sales team at the WSJ.
But I still want to be cautious in my strategy and mitigate any risks.
Curious what do others think of the article?
The article needs a subscription, so I pasted the text below.
Wall Street went on a home-buying spree. Now, more lawmakers want to stop it from ever happening again.
Democrats in the U.S. Senate and House have sponsored legislation that would force large owners of single-family homes to sell houses to family buyers. A Republican’s bill in the Ohio state legislature aims to drive out institutional owners through heavy taxation.
Lawmakers in Nebraska, California, New York, Minnesota and North Carolina are among those proposing similar laws.
While homeowner associations for years have sought to stop investors from buying and renting out houses in their neighborhoods, the legislative proposals represent a new effort by elected officials to regulate Wall Street’s appetite for single-family homes.
These lawmakers say that investors that have scooped up hundreds of thousands of houses to rent out are contributing to the dearth of homes for sale and driving up home prices. They argue that investor buying has made it harder for first-time buyers to compete with Wall Street-backed investment firms and their all-cash offers.

Investors of all sizes spent billions of dollars buying homes during the pandemic. At the 2022 peak, they bought more than one in every four single-family homes sold, though more recently their activity has slowed as interest rates rose and supply became tighter. Two of the largest home-buying firms, Invitation Homes and AMH, are publicly traded companies, while a number of other companies, backed by private equity, hold portfolios of tens of thousands of homes nationwide.
Companies that buy single-family homes say their businesses provide renters the opportunity to live in desirable neighborhoods where they otherwise couldn’t afford to buy.
With home prices and rents near record highs around the U.S., legislators and officials at all levels of government have become more active on housing issues. States have passed new measures to fund more affordable housing, to allow builders to bypass local zoning laws and to make the eviction process more favorable to tenants.
Most calls to block large companies from snapping up homes come from liberals, but some conservatives also show an inclination to crack down.
This “corporate large-scale buying of residential homes seems to be distorting the market and making it harder for the average Texan to purchase a home,” Republican Gov. Greg Abbott wrote on X last month. “This must be added to the legislative agenda to protect Texas families.”
Close to equal numbers of voting-age Republicans and Democrats said they would support a measure to block Wall Street firms from buying homes, according to a new study funded by the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the Manhattan Institute, a conservative think tank. The study gauged opinion from 5,000 renters and homeowners in urban and suburban ZIP Codes.
Proposals to curb investors might be popular with voters, but so far they haven’t gained much traction in legislatures. None of the bills in Congress or in any of the state houses has reached a floor vote.
Advocates for the single-family rental industry, such as the National Rental Home Council, oppose such legislation and blame rising prices on an undersupply of new-construction homes. They also point to the relatively low number of homes owned by institutional investors, defined as those companies with portfolios of 1,000 homes or more. Some research estimates these companies own 3% to 5% of American rental homes.
In some American cities, institutional investors hold a much larger share of homes than they hold nationally. In Atlanta, nearly 11% of all rental homes in the five-county area are now owned by three real-estate companies, a recent study by researchers at Georgia State University found. A 2022 analysis by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said 21% of Atlanta rental homes were owned by some large institution.
Rep. Nikema Williams (D., Ga.), from the Atlanta area, in December co-sponsored the End Hedge Fund Control of American Homes Act in the U.S. House. The act “won’t solve all of the problems, but it will definitely make an impact,” she said in an interview.
Critics of regulation note that many of the largest investors have bought very few or no homes in the past year. “The great trade is done,” said John Burns, founder of the eponymous housing research and consulting firm. “So what are you trying to stop?”
Smaller investors that own between 10 and 99 homes have stepped up their share of home buying this year, Burns said. Some of the proposed legislation would also target these smaller investors.
The bills in the House and Senate would cap rental-home ownership at no more than 50 homes for many companies, requiring them to sell off any more they already own. A bill in Minnesota, meanwhile, would limit ownership to 20 homes.
Bills to block landlords in the Ohio and Nebraska state legislatures were written in response to a small number of investors buying up hundreds of homes in a handful of Cincinnati and Omaha neighborhoods.
Louis Blessing III, a Republican representing suburbs of Cincinnati in the Ohio Senate, introduced a bill to tax large landlords so heavily that they would likely feel compelled to sell their properties. Blessing said he is concerned about real-estate companies developing monopoly power in some neighborhoods, while putting starter homes further out of reach for home buyers.
“It’s an antitrust in spirit bill,” he said.
