2024.06.09 16:58 gosabres Yet another U.S. Open question

Hey all, I lucked myself into some Trophy Club tickets for Saturday. My spouse and I have never been to a PGA event. Also we’re not your typical “Club” people - when we go to Canes games, we’re in the nosebleeds. Total luck we got these but I don’t want to come across like it or otherwise be rude for the other attendees. We’ve been to an engagement party at Pinehurst but otherwise have never been. To be honest, I’m a little bit intimidated.
I’ve clicked a bunch of related links but don’t know what to expect. So I have a few questions since I feel like a fish out of water. I need to preface these questions by mentioning I’m few weeks out of surgery from an Achilles rupture (from running, not golf). I’m currently in a boot, non-weight bearing, and getting around on a knee-scooter.
1) Any recommendations for appropriate men’s and women’s attire? Due to the boot, pants for me are impossible. 2) After Full Swing, I’m one of those plebs that fell in love with Joel Dahmen. I have his signature crossout cancer hat. Any recommendations for best shot at getting it autographed (assuming he makes the cut, of course) 3) What is the Trophy Club like? I’ve been searching for videos but other than “climate-controlled” and “executive washrooms” I have no idea what to expect 4) We have a toddler and an infant so a babysitter is coming for the day. What would be a reasonable amount of time to ask them to be here (factor in we’re driving 75min to get there, not including traffic). Starting and ending. 5) I assume drinks and food cost extra, is a minimum 20% tip considered appropriate? 6) For the knee scooter, any idea what kind of ADA access there is? We took the kids to the NC Zoo last weekend and they were kind enough to offer us a cart a few times (I still hobbled). Considering this is on uneven terrain, I’m less confident in my abilities.
I apologize for the rookie questions but thank y’all for the patience!

2024.06.09 16:47 throwRAmathgirl $500 ticket in Culebra

I was in Culebra for a day and rented a golf cart from Culebra UTV rentals. They gave us the keys after we paid and we were off.
That night, we parked in front of an ice cream shop (we saw a lot of cars there but that’s not an excuse) for about 20 minutes. We got a parking ticket for $500. We didn’t see the ticket ourselves, the company pulled it out when we were in the office returning the keys.
Is there any way we can contest it or get a lawyer on Culebra? $500 is ridiculous and the police don’t speak English. We were never given any introduction to parking rules from the rental company.

2024.06.09 15:33 joeshmoe9898 What is a faster pace of play? Two 3 person scrambles or a single 6 person scramble.

For those that have worked at courses as either starters or marshals, I’m curious to get your thoughts on the following scenario. Apologies in advance for the lengthy post.
I’ve been golfing for most of my life (currently a 5 handicap), and some of my friends are just getting into it. They don’t have handicaps, but I would guess they would each shoot 130+
6 of us went to a muni course to play and I was a little anxious about pace of play. I suggested to the group that we do two groups of 3 and each group does a scramble. The issue was the other group’s best ball was still going to move really slowly and they were planned to be the group in front. I offered to the starter that the 6 of us could group into 3 carts and play a scramble, basically saying we will move a lot quicker if I’m in the scramble for the entire group. I knew most courses have policies against groups more than 4 so I wasn’t expecting them to say yes and sure enough they said we had to go out in two groups of 3.
I briefed the other group (group A) of three and told them to pick up once their scramble score for any hole was double par + 1, unfortunately they didn’t follow that advice.
My group was waiting on them from the start as we were moving pretty quickly. Fast forward to the 7th hole, a par 3, they are 3 holes behind the group in front and there are now groups getting backed up behind us. The marshal comes over and I suggest group A skips to the 10th to get back on pace, but they’re being stubborn and want to play each hole. I make the same offer to the marshal that the six of us play a group scramble and that I’ll move them along quicker, but he turns it down.
I end up reiterating to group A that they need to pick up their ball if they’ve spent more than 10 minutes on a hole. They start to play a bit quicker than before but by 18 I can see we are backing up a lot of groups.
I’m curious from a course management perspective, how you would have approached this. I also recognize and agree that first and foremost the onus is on group A to play more quickly. But I also felt the marshal cared more about the letter of the course policy than improving the pace of play for everyone behind us.

2024.06.09 15:09 beanbagginz 280

Noticed today after counting the tick marks on my postit wall that today is day 280 of sobriety. I've embraced working out and health optimization and it's more than filled the hole drinking left in my life.
this was the guy that couldn't make it to the third hole of golf without either a beer cart visit or something from my own bag.
to those thinking all their fun or enjoyment of activities relies on having some type of drink, you'll find that is the fallacy heavily advertised and pushed down our throats w advertising. life is out there, go grab some of it and enjoy the rise. and this is coming from someone who was just unexpectedly downsized at work.....at 52 yrs old. didn't even think I needed alcohol to deal w it.

2024.06.09 12:32 Hellothere2515 Would you play here?

Probably going to get down voted to oblivion but I’m just curious if anyone else has an appetite for this.
9 or 12 hole course that allows up to 8 people on 1 tee time. You’d come to this course with friends and family with the intent of having fun. Perhaps music playing throughout the course. More cart girls than usual. You get the vibe.
Tee times would be spread out accordingly of course. Tee times would have to cost a bit more than usual to accommodate those spread out tee times.
I have a big group of friends that golf and their wives too. I’d definitely personally pay for something like this to be able to do 4v4 or 2v2v2v2 matchups and go have some fun. Would you?

2024.06.09 09:36 Slalom35 Sla battery questions

I have a couple sla battery related questions. Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction.
I have some powered ride on toys for kids, not golf carts, but I have a feeling my questions may relate more to those that upgrade electric golf carts.
1.) If I increase amp hours by adding batteries in parallel, can this increase my maximum amperage and torque? Am I correct that it will possibly do so if the controller pulls enough current that the power sags? This will at least increase the amount of time it can handle higher current draw, correct?
2.) Can I reasonably charge batteries in both series and parallel? Original setups are 24v or 36v in series with 12v, and I am considering running 6 12v, 3s2p. If I can use the same charger meant for 3 12v in series, that would be convenient, but I’m not sure if that present problems for even charge/current.
Btw, these are for the crazy carts, small little go kart things that sort of drift. My boys and I have been having fun with a couple of these.
Thank you!!

Hi,
I'm getting into golfing for the first time with a GF but she doesn't have any interest in golfing. I know that you usually have to pay per person when riding in a cart. But if they're not golfing, can you get away with paying one cart fee and having them ride with you??

2024.06.09 07:09 Criblu Best round in 10 years shortly after a rough round.

Best round in 10 years shortly after a rough round.
Top: 5/26 Bottom: 6/8
Two weeks ago I played one of my public city courses - first 18 in a year - had done a few 9s, and some sim golf.. but it went rough, by my standards. Just couldn't find a swing, and had no feel putting.. Determined to turn it around, I practiced a few times prior to playing today. And in an attempt to increase my focus level, I play from the tips.
After the first three holes, I legitimately thought maybe this is just my new norm..
4th hole tee-shot... Block it right, into the crap. As I'm walking to my ball (push-cart crew), I realize how tense I am - especially in my core and shoulders.. I do some deep breathing exercises I've been teaching my 3 yr old for when he gets frustrated, and it was like a wave of calm came over me.
From that point, I was -2, in complete control, and draining some bombs. It was unreal compared to 2 week prior, and from the back tees, no less.
I was so close to saying screw it and moving up to the blues to try and play hero ball - going for all the short par 4s, and probably shooting another high-80's round.
It may be a Kirk Gipson off the bench glimmer of times past, but it was fun for the day.
Woosah.
TLDR; Played like shit two weeks ago (for me). Practiced a bunch over the last two weeks before today's round. Started out like crap - almost phoned it in, but instead found my breath and chilled out. Best round in 10+ years.

2024.06.09 03:13 Ok-Juggernaut-5891 Feel so broken due to what happened at work today

I have a fear of driving, which is honestly strange due to the fact that I grew up riding ATVs and Dirtbikes with no issue
But when you put me in a parking lot I freeze, get scared, panic. Today at work I had a panic attack trying to force myself to drive a golf cart, and honestly I got mad fun of pretty badly
Honestly I feel like it shouldn’t get to me- one of my coworkers (don’t think this was intentional) took me on it because we had a large ish task to run outside
She drove so crazy- and when it stopped I was shaking so bad. I felt humiliated, feel pathetic.

2024.06.09 01:02 Realistic-Dot8551 Re-programming evolution golf cart

Hello! I am looking to get some input on re-programming an Evolution D5 Maverick, specifically the speed. So far I have found this site that tells me where to find the cable needed, and what software I am looking for. The site tells me the name but I cant find it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get this software OR a dealership near Houston, TX that will do this for me?
Any input is read & appreciated. Thank yall!
