Boland DHD15A Monitor Flickers w/ Composite Input

2024.05.29 05:07 ComPanda Boland DHD15A Monitor Flickers w/ Composite Input

I have 2 Bolands that flicker when viewing analog media through its composite inputs. I've reset the monitors to factory settings, used different players (VHS and Beta), used different BNC cables and all had the issue. There was no flicker with the HD/SDI inputs with HD media. Is there a setting within the monitor that I may be missing and/or causing the flicker?

2024.05.29 05:07 RubyDoesStuff0000 The Lie is a Cake

Day 1 A news report breaks in [REDACTED] New York about a man waking up the previous morning, and attempting to turn on his TV to watch the latest episode of his favourite show, only for his remote to crumble in his hand. Confused as to what was going on, the man would attempt to manually turn on his TV, only to accidentally pull a chunk of it off. It was at this moment, that the man would discover that his TV had been replaced with a hyper-realistic cake. The man would question his wife about where the TV went, and why there was a hyper-realistic cake in its place. However, his wife was just as confused as he was about the entire situation at hand. The man would attempt to report this to his local authorities, claiming his TV had been stolen and replaced with a hyper-realistic cake. Only to be laughed off as a prankster due to his ridiculous claim. Angry at this, he would take his story to the local news station hoping for justice to be served to whoever stole his TV. Once again, his claims were laughed off and published as a mere joke. The man would claim that there would be more cases of people’s items being replaced with hyper-realistic cakes going forward and that they would all regret ignoring his case.
Day 29 Police reports coming from all over [REDACTED] New York would reveal the man’s words to be correct. Starting after a young woman would attempt to open her purse, only for the zip to completely come off upon being pulled and quickly break apart, taking some of the modelling chocolate with it. Soon people would begin reporting all over the area that their items had been completely replaced with cake. Phones, laptops, bags, earrings, necklaces, rings and even stacks of cash were discovered to have been replaced with hyper-realistic cakes. Local authorities, having now clearly learned that this was no prank, are looking into the cases to try and track down these valuable items. However, one thing these cases all have in common (aside from the cakes being delicious) is the complete lack of evidence pointing to any suspects. No DNA evidence, no signs of forced entry, and no people in the area at the time. Nobody is even sure when these items were replaced with cakes. They all say they could've sworn they were real a second ago, only to suddenly be cake. Almost as if there was no thief and they had just suddenly turned into cake. Authorities are still on the hunt for a possible suspect in this case, even though the wider New York authorities laugh at them for humouring these absurd claims.
Day 47 The situation has escalated much further than anyone could've possibly anticipated. Now the reports of items being replaced with hyper-realistic cake have rapidly expanded to the rest of New York. Hundreds of people are reporting that their valuable items are being discovered to be hyper-realistic cakes. A man would take his phone out of his pocket to check if he'd received any important emails, only for his phone to crumble into pieces of cake in his hand. A woman would attempt to cash in a check of $100,000 to a bank, only for the modelling chocolate on the check to smash into several pieces when placed down on the counter. A couple would attempt to hurry their kids into the car, worrying they may be late for school. Only for the car to fall apart right in front of them, as the door is pulled off and falls to the ground. People are getting scared, they're worrying that at any moment, any of their prized possessions could end up being a hyper-realistic cake. Nobody is sure what is real and what is cake anymore, so they've taken to trying to cut anything they own, hoping to weed out the cake from the non-cake. Many have ended up accidentally destroying many of the things they own in the process of doing this. But those who still have their stuff have taken to putting stickers on them to ensure they know they're real. That was until an edible sticker was found to be on the back of a hyper-realistic cake emulating a mobile phone. Now, people’s only option is to place all their valued possessions into safes, covered in locks with an 87-number code that not even they know. The governor of New York has commented on the situation claiming that he's doing all he can to try and solve the hyper-realistic cake mystery, but he can only do so much to calm the fear and paranoia that has overcome New York.
Day 93 The situation has dramatically escalated even further somehow, as the hyper-realistic cake plague has now begun heavily affecting the nearby states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and even some parts of Canada. Reports are coming in from all over the USA and even some of Mexico and South America of people’s items suddenly being replaced with ominous (albeit, tasty) hyper-realistic cakes. The president is doing nothing to quell the fear of US citizens, claiming the whole situation is ridiculous and that everyone is a fool for buying into it. People are starting to riot in the streets believing the president is not doing enough to try and prevent the appearance of hyper-realistic cakes. Many other countries are beginning to consider closing off all travel to the USA out of fear, and some like Germany even going through with it. The safes people were using to hold their valuable items are no longer safe. Many have been discovered to have been replaced with hyper-realistic cakes, leading to even greater fear and paranoia among citizens. And the worst thing of all. The police officer who was in charge of the case in [REDACTED] New York was discovered by his wife the previous night to have been replaced with an identical hyperrealistic cake. There is no evidence of where he may have gone, and there is no evidence pointing to who might've taken him. He has seemingly disappeared without a trace.
Day 149 As fear was reaching its limits, a spark of hope managed to emerge. Tension has been rising as countries all over the world have been receiving reports of people disappearing, and being replaced with hyper-realistic cakes. Even including those that shut off travel to the USA. The president has continued to display pure apathy to the situation, claiming the whole thing to be a farce, until he discovered one morning his wife had been turned into a hyper-realistic cake. Outraged at this, he demanded the perpetrator be immediately found and caught. He banned the selling of any ingredients that could be used to make a hyper-realistic cake, including flour, sugar, eggs, butter, baking powder, chocolate, honey, macaroni and cheese (he does not know how to make a cake, and decided it was better safe than sorry). But even then, hyper-realistic cakes continued to appear. Now even houses and everything in them were getting replaced with giant hyper-realistic cakes, twice the size of an average human being. The president was getting desperate now and was willing to do anything to catch the man responsible for this. So he had cameras set up on every street in every city in every state across the entire USA. And he had every cop working 24/7 on the sight of each camera making sure nothing was replaced with a hyper-realistic cake, and if they were to see hyper-realistic cake-related activities, they were to press a button, sounding the alarm. Yesterday, after weeks and weeks of nothing. An extremely tired officer managed to catch a woman attempting to replace a baby with a hyper-realistic cake. The woman, upon being caught, would quickly admit she was behind the hyper-realistic cake shenanigans. She was immediately brought to Washington DC where the president would proceed to scream and cry at her for hours before demanding she be placed in a holding cell so she could be questioned the following day. This was quickly announced by White House officials and the world began celebrating, praising the president as a hero who was able to end the hyper-realistic cake plague. The joyful people of the world are currently awaiting a word from the US president on who this mysterious woman is, what her motives are and where she’s keeping all these missing people.
Day 180 To the horror of everyone around the globe, the following morning, all hope was lost and all dreams were dashed. The woman taken captive last night was found to have been replaced with a hyper-realistic cake, just as everyone was. The president demanded a search for any evidence indicating how she could've escaped, but they were unable to find anything. Even the cameras meant to keep track of the woman had mysteriously failed to capture anything the previous night. This was the breaking point for the president, and as a result of this, he'd soon become wrapped up in an extremely insane conspiracy. He'd soon begin to believe the cake was a being that was more powerful than any of them, and that it needed to be eradicated at all costs. The presidents would proceed to declare Marshall law and cut off all transport to other countries. People, seeing exactly what was going to happen, attempted to escape the country by piloting the planes and boats themselves. Only to discover the planes and boats were all hyper-realistic cakes, that were unable to fly and would easily sink in water. The president would also declare that all cake is to be thoroughly burned, and anyone believed to be a cake is to be executed on sight, preferably by being cut with a blade. The president would have all secret service agents executed, claiming that they were conspiring with the cake and aided the woman in escaping custody. But even if this wasn't enough for the president, soon he’d begin believing that other countries were made of cake too and declared that any countries believed to be “cake countries” would be bombed off the map. Starting with Mexico, he sent wave after wave of bombs to the country until he was sure anyone inside was dead. He'd soon turn his attention to Germany, believing that it was also a “cake country” due to them previously closing off transportation from the USA there. Soon, Germany was no more, and the president would celebrate that he had destroyed another “cake country”. It seemed like to the president, that every country except the USA was a cake country, and no amount of bombing he did would change that. Everyone knew the sheer amount of bombs he was using was going to destroy the planet, but he didn't care. But just as quickly as this began, it ended. Yesterday, a large angry mob stormed the White House. The president would attempt to bomb the mob, only to discover the bomb launchpad had been replaced with cake. The mob quickly overpowered anyone left supporting the president with sheer numbers, and they swiftly beat the president to death in a manner too disturbing to even attempt to describe. Blood was everywhere, but they didn't care anymore, the dictator was dead.
Day 294 Shortly after the president's death, the USA descended into chaos. People were still being replaced with cake, and nobody had any way to contact people outside the USA, as every single phone was seemingly now a hyper-realistic cake. Many don't even believe there's anyone left out there, and that they were all killed by the president. People quickly began to believe the president was right, and that all the other countries were now just cake. But they took it one step further, they now began to ponder if the entire globe itself was just one giant cake. People began getting so scared of others being cake, that they would attempt to cut anyone they meet just to see if they were cake. There is no food left now besides hyper-realistic cakes, and many are so scared of them that they refuse to even go near them, let alone attempt to eat them. Many are dying from starvation, and those willing to eat the cakes are usually branded as “cake people” and killed on sight. There's still no sign of the people who went missing and were replaced with hyper-realistic cakes. Many believe they just vanished from reality itself or that they were taken by the cake. Some people have begun to worship the cake as a god and make sacrifices to it believing it'll bring their loved ones back. Reality is crumbling, society has fallen apart and it won’t be long until humanity is gone.
Day 334 Not even a year following the first-ever incident, the last human being on earth has died today. Alone, cold and afraid. There is nothing left. No trees, no grass, no water, no animals, no humans, nothing. The only thing that remains now is the hyper-realistic cakes. And that, is the story, of how I destroyed humanity with FUCKING CAKES! I guess in the end you could say… it was real.

2024.05.29 05:05 idiotinbold How do countryhumans change flags?

I, for the most part, have considered it a thing like shedding scutes--the protosuchus, the early crocodilian my countryhumans are descended from, was covered in bony plates and I've considered having the countries drop colorful scutes in favor of a new flag, but the plates are bone. They can break and heal and grow, but once they are gone they don’t come back, so I started peeking at zebrafish. When water gets too cold, zebrafish pull pigment from the outer edges of their cells to the center. I couldn't figure out a function for this, but when blue pigment is distributed evenly it is black and in the cold, when it clumps, it is bright blue, and the same is true for other colors and in many fish. With this in consideration, I was thinking that perhaps countryhumans would change flags based on surrounding conditions, including emotional turmoil and visual stimuli (like one flag being swapped for another on a flag pole they see often) rather than just political adjustments (like revolution). In an odd situation, a CH could be locked in a blank room or be in another nation for a bit and not change flags until significant exposure is expressed. Being in shock, as well, like a beta fish going white in a new tank, may have an impact on the presence of a flag on the face and body. Scar tissue, kinetic or hypertrophic, especially with damaged nerves like deep punctures or large burns, may not change color at all or fluctuate unreasonably often due to a disconnect from the rest of the brain. Stress is not communicated from the spot, so why would stress be communicated to the spot? In conclusion, my current standing on the changing of countryhuman flags is more reliant on the presentation of the entirety of a personification than it is on the real-time or official flag in use.
TLDR, maybe my countryhumans would change flags based on external local conditions rather than the state of their nations like a fish in bad weather.
How do your countryhumans change flags? What are your thoughts on my process?

2024.05.29 04:59 wokeymcwokster Impulse Buy

Impulse Buy
I was at my LGS and they informed me of the impending 11% excise tax in CA on all firearm and ammo purchases starting July 1. I had two purchases left before the excise tax kicked in, so I picked this up because I want a 10/22 and they had it in inventory. I know I should have started with a stock 10/22 as the factory receiver is solid, but there's no controlling the impulse buy. Now the fun begins as the choices are limitless. My final purchase will be the Ruger Mk4 Target. As an added bonus the wife thinks it's a "gun part", so it doesn't count. 🤣

2024.05.29 04:53 skeeredstiff The disappearing ghost town.

In 1982, I and six buddies went bear hunting in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We were staying at some cabins near Twin Lakes at the base of the Keweenaw Peninsula. When you hunt most critters you go out before dawn and sit until an hour or two after the sun comes up and late afternoon until dark. Most bigger game animals hunker down during daylight hours, so it doesn't pay to sit all day. This means you have a lot of time between hunts; this part of the UP has some remote areas; it is also where a lot of copper mining went on in the old days; the mines are all closed now and mostly full of water. There are a lot of big paper mill holdings there also that are still being logged, so there are a lot of logging roads built by the paper mills; they are good enough roads for large double-trailer logs trucks filled with many tons of logs to travel on. One thing you learn quickly when you use these roads is to get the hell off the road when a truck is coming because they take up the whole road and they don't even slow down for civilians because the mill owns the roads, not the state or county and you are on their land, but as long as you don't get in the way they don't care. Most of the bridges across streams or rivers just consist of huge piles of large rocks with smaller gravel on top of the road. These things look like dams, but because of the large bottom rocks, the water can flow through the "bridge." It's a pretty cool thing to see. We spent a lot of time driving and exploring these logging roads. On one particular day, we went down a new road that led to an actual state park at the bottom of Misery Bay on Lake Superior. It's a park maintained by the state on paper mill property, there are several very rusitc camp sites at that park. We spent some time at the park and messing around on the beach. About noon we headed back down a different road, you see alot of small shacks that usually have smoke coming out of the chimneys, they are apparently used by the loggers. We eventually ended up way out in the wilderness with no signs of logging or logging trucks, it's usually like driving in a tunnel because the trees come together over the road. After a long while, we came into a clear area, and around a bend there was we came upon what we thought was a small town. The road basically went right down "main street," and as we drove through the place, it became apparent there were no people to be seen. We came to a building that was a kind of store, so we stopped there. The "store" was completly empty, looking in the dusty windows you could see it had been empty for a long time. We walked around "main street" checking out the houses, a lot of them were in pretty good repair but they were completley deserted, dust on all the floors had been undisturbed for many years and ther were no signs of foot traffic anywhere. We eventually got back in the trucks and moved on we were all pretty intrigued by the town, we didn't go in any of the houses because it just looked like the owners might actually come back. The "main street" went up a pretty big hill, at the top of the hill was a large building that was obviously some kind of industrial use building covered in that old galvanized corrugated metal sheeting. We stopped at the building and found an opening in the siding. The inside of the building was wide open, and it was very tall, like 30-40 feet tall, with a lot of supporting steelwork; everything was very rusty and obviously hadn't been touched in many years. There were large windows with no glass, just open to the outside high up in the walls that allowed the sun to light it up pretty well inside. At the center of the place, there was a large hole in the floor, like 15-20 feet square. We peered down into the opening, and it was a deep dark hole; somebody dropped a stone down the hole, and it was a long time before you could hear a faint splash of water so we dropped a stone and we had a couple of those old Casio watches with a stopwatch function so we dropped a rock and timed it to the splash, it took almost exactly ten seconds. there were no guard rails or safety measures of any kind, it was really scary thinking about falling into that deep black hole. There was some old equipment left that looked to be like turn of the century type stuff, we assumed it was a closed copper mine. The whole time we were exploring we had two 35mm film cameras taking a lot of pictures, this was 30 years before cell phones and 35-40 before smart phones. After exploring the place for a while, we decided it was time to get going because we had only a few hours before dark. After miles of running down those unmarked roads, we eventually made it back to the cabins, and we all went out to our hunting spots. After it got dark, we all headed to the local bar where we usually went to get something to eat. One of the guys asked the lady bartender if she knew anything about that shut-down mine and abandoned the town; she got kind of a funny look on her face and went to the kitchen pass-through window and said, "hey Dave, these guys went and visited Peterson, we all looked at each other like WTF is she talking about, the kitchen door opened up and the a the cook apparently called Dave came out dressed in typical bar cook clothes. Dave came over and said what did you see in Peterson we said first of all, we never saw a sign with a name on it, but it was just an abandoned town with pretty decent-looking buildings and a closed-down copper mine up on the hill. Dave said yep that's Peterson some people see the signs going into town and some don't, the thing is there never was a Peterson it never existed. Whh......What the fuck are you talking about? We were there, looked into the buildings, dropped rocks down the empty mine shaft, and took many pictures. Dave said yep, you and many other people, but if you try to return, you won't find it. What? We know the road we took. We can get back there, he said go ahead and try. You won't find it. Dave asked did you, by any chance, drop a rock in the hole and time it to the bottom? Yes, actually, we did it took almost exactly ten seconds, Dave said yep, I did, too, and I looked it up. A falling rock or anything falls about four hundred feet in ten seconds; he said Peterson is a real ghost town the whole place is a real ghost town; he said I was there and saw the same things years ago, but I've tried many times to go back and I've never been able to find it, me and a lot of other people who live in this area and know it like the backs of our hands have seen it once and once only. Dave said to go to Houghton Hancock and get your film developed, and let's see the pictures. The next day, we decided to take off from hunting and go up to town and get the film developed. Houghton Hancock is home to Michigan Tech so it's a college town with all the amenities it had a quick film developer place so we dropped the film off and went to see the sights, it's a really picturesque place. About an hour north east of HH is Copper harbor at the very top of Michigan were it ends into Lake Superior, it to is a really cool place. When we got back to HH, we were dying to see the pictures, so we went and got the film and tore open the envelopes. There were lots of pictures, beautiful pictures, but not a single picture of "Peterson"..........Now just a goddamned minute, this is not fucking possible a couple of the guys went back to the film place and asked where are the other pictures that were on those rolls? There were no other pictures. You have all the negatives. We don't keep other people's pictures. We see thousands every month. There's a park in town, and we stopped there, and all sat at a table, just kind of in shock, not saying much for quite a while. In 1982, I was 23 years old. At 23, you think you know it all when you are hit square in the face by something like that; it shakes you to the core; everything you think you know is now suspect because you were in that abandoned town; it was just a cool old abandoned town, you saw it with your own eyes in the wide open sunny broad daylight, not on some dark foggy creepy night and nothing creepy happened, we took pictures that don't exist. That changed my life from that point forward. After that, we went back to see Dave and gave him the stack of pictures of the woods, the Big Mac bridge, Misery Bay, the park on the bay, logging trucks, the rock bridges, some of the shacks, one of which was just about two miles from "Peterson." Dave just kind of chuckled and said yep, that's our "Peterson" alright. For the next two days we totally forgot about hunting, we split up in two trucks and drove those roads over and over and over and never re-found "Peterson." That is my high strangeness story, we found a town that never existed, that other people have also see but only once. As I look back on what we are now hearing stories about, stuff like different timelines like this fucked up one we are in now compared to the real one we branched off from on January 20, 2016. Is Peterson a place close to a spot where two different timelines come very close together? Is it possible that when all the conditions in the universe are just right, and you happen to be in the right place when all those conditions are right, you can visit Peterson? What would happen if you were in Peterson and the universal conditions changed? I wonder if we will ever find out. If you can only go there once, how will it be studied? The mind-warping question is, who keeps track of who has been to Peterson only once and who hasn't?

2024.05.29 04:50 takovpekh Inner back toe removal for front leg amputee?

Hi all,
Our 10+ year old Olde English Bulldog has developed another toe tumor, the second in 2-3 months. The first one was removed, and he did well in recovery because it was a non-weight-bearing toe. It was an urgent removal because, after two weeks of clindamycin, gabapentin, CBD, and galliprant, he licked it so much it burst open. The biopsy came back okay enough for us to go into wait-and-watch mode, and he'd been fine until the past few weeks. Blood work was also normal.
It's started again, but this time on the second from the innermost toe on his back R paw. When we first saw it, our vet aspirated the toe which was mostly WBC with a random other cell (I'm blanking on the name), chest x-ray was clear, and for the ultrasound, there were a few teeny tiny spots on his spleen that we need to keep an eye on.
We just finished up another two weeks of antibiotics but it's still growing, and he's still obsessively licking despite all the meds. As the title says, he's only got three legs--his front right leg was amputated 4 years ago when he was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma. I spoke with the vet today after noticing it's gotten significantly worse from two weeks ago, and we had the "big decision" talk of surgery or euthanasia.
At this point, his QOL seems fine. Still eating and drinking, and has bursts of energy followed by lots of couch sleeping. You can tell when he's feeling achy and arthritic, but for the most part, he's too stubborn to care. This is why I'm conflicted.
What brings me here is wanting to know with his old man mobility plus being a front-leg amputee, how bad would recovery be from losing a weight-bearing toe? Here are his details:
* Species: Dog
* Age: 10+ years
* Sex/Neuter status: Male/Neutered
* Breed: Olde English Bulldogge
* Body weight: 68 lbs
* History: 6 yrs - Chondrosarcoma (Front R Leg amputation & small lump removal on R hip), 9 yrs - R hip lump regrowth (removed Oct '23), 10 yrs - Tumor on back L paw (removed Feb '24), seasonal & food allergies, arthritis in spine & hips
* Clinical signs: toe redness, swelling, constant licking
* Duration: 3ish weeks
* Your general location: Northeast US
Thanks for any advice you can give!

2024.05.29 04:27 Few-Spot-6475 [Spoilers Main] The great philosopher Socrates and Maegor Targaryen.

This is all from the Internet. A click away from any phone.
Socrates was a Greek philosopher from Athens who is credited as the founder of Western philosophy and among the first moral philosophers of the ethical tradition of thought.
An enigmatic figure, Socrates authored no texts and is known mainly through the posthumous accounts of classical writers, particularly his students Plato and Xenophon. These accounts are written as dialogues, in which Socrates and his interlocutors examine a subject in the style of question and answer; they gave rise to the Socratic dialogue literary genre.
Contradictory accounts of Socrates make a reconstruction of his philosophy nearly impossible, a situation known as the Socratic problem. Socrates was a polarizing figure in Athenian society. In 399 BC, he was accused of impiety and corrupting the youth. After a trial that lasted a day, he was sentenced to death. He spent his last day in prison, refusing offers to help him escape.
There were four charges that were brought against Socrates. They were that he argued the weaker claim over the stronger claim, that he argue the physical over the metaphysical, that he was against the gods and that he was corrupting the youth.
Socrates was found guilty by a jury of 501 Athenians and was sentenced to drink a deadly poison, named hemlock. Many scholars have argued that the charges against Socrates were politically motivated and have understood his trial and conviction as an attack upon freedom of speech and an indictment of democracy.
The Last Moments of Maegor’s Reign, losing against a misogynistic society led by petty and ambitious nobles and against the Faith of the Seven, a religion that enforces gender roles and inequality between men and women.
By 48 AC Maegor's tyranny could no longer be borne by the realm. At Storm's End Aenys I's last surviving son, Prince Jaehaerys, put forth his claim to the throne, supported by Lord Rogar Baratheon, who was named Protector of the Realm and Hand of the King by the prince. Jaehaerys had two dragons on his side, his own mount Vermithor and his sister's mount Silverwing, against Maegor's Balerion. Learning of her brother's claim, Queen Rhaena Targaryen fled from Maegor in the night, escaping on her dragon Dreamfyre with the Valyrian blade Blackfyre, and her daughter, Princess Aerea, adding a third dragon to her brothers cause. Lord Edwell Celtigar resigned his position as Hand and returned to Claw Isle and Grand Maester Benifer secretly escaped on a ship to Pentos. Ser Olyver Bracken and Ser Raymund Mallery, two of Maegor's Kingsguard, also deserted him. Lord Daemon Velaryon, the admiral of the royal fleet, was the first of the great lords to forsake Maegor, taking the royal fleet with him, and many other lords followed his example. The great houses of Lannister, Tyrell, and Arryn came out against Maegor and in the riverlands House Tully gave support to Septon Moon and Ser Joffrey Doggett, the leaders of the Poor Fellows.
Maegor called his banners in response, but few answered, giving Maegor an army of barely four thousand soldiers. Despite this, Maegor refused to surrender. At the end of the war council, Maegor remained behind alone in the throne room to brood. He was found dead the next morning by Queen Elinor, seated on the Iron Throne with his robes covered in blood and his wrists slashed. A spike from one of the swords on the throne behind him was impaled through the back of his neck. How Maegor died was never discovered. Some say he had been killed by Queen Elinor, others that he had been killed by a knight of his own Kingsguard. Yet others say he had been killed by a builder who escaped the slaughter three years earlier and desired revenge, and many believe that Maegor had been killed by the throne itself. Others believe that Maegor killed himself by opening his wrists on the blades of the Iron Throne.
The fate of Maegor’s loyal supporters.
Owen Bush was a knight of the Kingsguard during the reign of King Maegor I Targaryen. When Maegor suspected Queen Tyanna of the Tower of betrayal, he had Owen and his sworn brother, Ser Maladon Moore, bring her to the dungeons, where she confessed.
Maegor the Cruel gradually lost political support, resulting in a rival threat in his nephew, Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen. Two of his Kingsguard defected to Jaehaerys, and Maegor lost a third guard when Owen was found dead outside a brothel in 48 AC, his member cut off and stuffed in his mouth.
Maladon Moore was a knight from House Moore and a member of the Kingsguard during the reign of King Maegor I Targaryen. When the king suspected Queen Tyanna of the Tower of treason, Maladon and Owen were dispatched to seize the queen and deliver her to the dungeons, where Maegor was said to have slain her while Maladon was present.
After Maegor died in 48 AC and his nephew King Jaehaerys I Targaryen took the Iron Throne, Maladon was accused of being involved in the death of Queen Ceryse, allegedly restraining her when Ser Owen accidentally killed her. Maladon denied these charges, insisting she died of "shrewishness". While the charges were never proven, Maladon lost his head for his involvement in Queen Tyanna's death, of which he was guilty.
When Queen Tyanna of the Tower admitted to poisoning Queen Alys Harroway during her pregnancy, Tyanna promised the same would happen to Elinor. Tyanna was proven correct when Elinor gave birth to a stillborn abomination said to have been born eyeless and with small wings. Elinor was one of the two wives who survived the king, the other being Queen Rhaena Targaryen.
After King Maegor's death, Lord Daemon Velaryon proposed that King Jaehaerys I Targaryen marry Queen Elinor to reconcile with Maegor's supporters when a bride was being considered for the king, but nothing came of the proposal. After Jaehaerys's ascent, Elinor departed King's Landing dressed in the robes of a penitent. She visited her two elder sons at the Eyrie and Highgarden before retiring to her father's seat at the Three Towers with her youngest son.
Later, King Jaehaerys commanded Elinor to go forth and spread his Doctrine of Exceptionalism to the peoples of the Seven Kingdoms, as well as the goodness of Jaehaerys and Alysanne, becoming one of the Seven Speakers. Her queenly raiment became shabbier and more threadbare each day, and she eventually gave up all claims to nobility, becoming Mother Elinor at the great motherhouse in Lannisport.
House Rosby was one of the first houses to yield peacefully to House Targaryen during Aegon's Conquest, surrendering to Rhaenys Targaryen and Meraxes. The Rosby lands became part of the crownlands surrounding King's Landing. Lord Jon Rosby was named Warden of the Sands by King Aegon I Targaryen during the First Dornish War, but Jon was killed in the Defenestration of Sunspear.
Ser Rayford Rosby defended King Maegor I Targaryen during his trial of seven, but Rayford was slain during the fighting. Lord Rosby remained loyal to the king even as his downfall became certain, and was one of the last to see the king alive. In the chaos that followed the discovery of Maegor's body, Lord Rosby drank a cup of hemlock to join his king in death. His young son received forgiveness from King Jaehaerys I Targaryen at Dragonstone.
In 47 AC, King Maegor was dealing with the issue of his lack of heirs, despite having already married three women. Lord Daemon Velaryon, Rhaena's uncle and a member of Maegor's small council, advised Maegor to wed Rhaena, to unite their claims and prevent new rebellions, and to gain her as a hostage against any potential schemes of Dowager Queen Alyssa. Later that year, Maegor summoned Rhaena to King's Landing, and she did not defy him. At the Red Keep, Maegor married Rhaena in a triple ceremony, together with Elinor Costayne and Jeyne Westerling. As the three women were all widows of men Maegor had killed, they became known as the "Black Brides". Immediately following the wedding, Maegor declared Rhaena's elder daughter Aerea as his heir until he had sons of his own, while disinheriting Rhaena's youngest brother Jaehaerys in the same decree.
After Maegor’s death, discussion arose as to who had the better claim to the Iron Throne. There were some who suggested that Rhaena's claim, as the firstborn child of King Aenys I Targaryen and Queen Alyssa Velaryon, was the strongest. Her gender argued against her, however, and Rhaena herself had come to loathe King's Landing and its court. The claims of her daughters were argued for as well. If Maegor was to be considered a usurper, the true king would have been Rhaena's first husband, Aegon, who had claimed the throne before Jaehaerys had. As such, some suggested the throne should pass to one of his daughters by Rhaena, Aerea or Rhaella.
As time passed, Rhaena began to resent the fact that her claim to the throne, and that of her daughters, had been dismissed in favor of Jaehaerys, to whom she began to refer as "my baby brother". In addition, Rhaena begrudged her mother for promoting Jaehaerys's claim over her own.
Ser Walton Towers was granted Harrenhal by King Maegor I Targaryen in 44 AC after winning a melee in Lord Harroway's Town, but Walton died soon after from his wounds. Harrenhal thus passed to his eldest son. Lord Jordan remained loyal to Maegor during the king's wars, and Lord Rosby were the last to see the king alive before Maegor's death on the Iron Throne. Along with Lords Darklyn and Staunton, Jordan yielded the Red Keep to Prince Jaehaerys, Princess Rhaena, and Princess Alysanne Targaryen. The three lords were sent to the black cells, but were eventually pardoned by King Jaehaerys I after surrendering some of their land.
Jordan eventually died of a chest congestion. Harrenhal passed to Jordan's last surviving son, Maegor Towers, as Jordan's older sons had all died fighting for King Maegor.
Maegor's father, Lord Jordan Towers, was one of the last lords of the Seven Kingdoms who remained loyal to King Maegor I Targaryen. All of Jordan's sons died fighting in the king's wars, with the exception of young Maegor.
Maegor became Lord Towers after the death of his father due to a chest congestion. When King Jaehaerys I Targaryen began a royal progress in 53 AC to celebrate the new year, his first stop was to see the new Lord of Harrenhal, then only nine years of age.
Maegor was an impoverished lord who resided in the Tower of Dread with only a cook and three men-at-arms. Since the rest of Harrenhal was empty, King Jaehaerys settled his widowed sister, Rhaena Targaryen, in the Widow's Tower in 56 AC. Maegor and Rhaena eventually became friends, and she cared for his servants after Maegor passed away in 61 AC. Harrenhal was granted to House Strong after Rhaena passed away in 73 AC.
Maegor was sickly and poor.
Socrates speaks his last words to Crito: "Crito, we owe a cock to Asclepius. Please, don't forget to pay the debt". Asclepius was the Greek god for curing illness, and it is likely that Socrates' last words were implied to mean that death is the cure, and freedom of the soul from the body.
Asclepius, Greco-Roman god of medicine, son of Apollo (god of healing, truth, and prophecy) and the mortal princess Coronis. The Centaur Chiron taught him the art of healing. At length Zeus (the king of the gods), afraid that Asclepius might render all men immortal, slew him with a thunderbolt.
Zeus saw Asclepius & his medical skills as a threat to the eternal division between humanity & the gods. Asclepius met a tragic end when he was killed by a thunderbolt thrown by Zeus.
Socrates ultimately does not fear death because of his innocence, he believes that death is not feared because it may be one of the greatest blessings of the soul.
The reasons for Socrates not escaping when he had the chance the night prior; are made explicit before the Laws make their speech. Because escape defies the will of the Athenians, it requires stealth and bribery, shameful practices that are unjustified in the current situation.
Socrates Feared Democracies Would Elect Demagogues. The term arose in Greece in the fifth century BCE, right around Socrates's time, and is often used negatively. Socrates himself was extremely worried that the democratic format would give rise to a demagoguery.
Demagogues are political leaders who seek support by appealing to the desires and prejudices of ordinary people rather than by using rational argument.
Modern demagogues include Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Huey Long, Father Coughlin, and Joseph McCarthy, all of whom built mass followings the same way that Cleon did: by exciting the passions of the masses against customs and norms of the aristocratic elites of their times.
This is why Maegor and Socrates died. They challenged authority and lost. They were silenced by the powerful lords and by the elected council of Athens whom were given power by the common people.
They were “heroes”.
“My own heroes are the dreamers, those men and women who tried to make the world a better place than when they found it, whether in small ways or great ones. Some succeeded, some failed, most had mixed results... but it is the effort that's heroic, as I see it. Win or lose, I admire those who fight the good fight.
George R.R. Martin.
King Maegor had married all his brides and gave them Queenly status.
Jeyne was married to Lord Alyn Tarbeck. She was widowed when Alyn died during the Battle Beneath the Gods Eye in 43 AC. Jeyne was pregnant when her husband died, and gave him a posthumous son a few months later.
In 47 AC, Jeyne was being courted by a younger son of Lyman Lannister, the Lord of Casterly Rock, when King Maegor I Targaryen sent for her to be wed to him. She married Maegor in a ceremony at King's Landing, along with Lady Elinor Costayne and Princess Rhaena Targaryen. As all three women had been widowed due to Maegor, they became known as the "Black Brides". The stories told of the wedding night claim that Jeyne was given a fertility potion by Queen Tyanna of the Tower, and either drank it, or threw it in Tyanna's face. After the wedding, Queen Jeyne's son was confirmed as Lord of Tarbeck Hall, and sent to Casterly Rock to be raised as a ward of Lyman Lannister.
Lord Edwell Celtigar, the Hand of the King, announced half a year after the wedding that Queen Jeyne was pregnant, and Queen Elinor's pregnancy was announced shortly afterwards. Maegor, joyful, showered both his wives with gifts and honors, and granted new lands and offices to their fathers, brothers, and uncles. Unfortunately, Jeyne's labor began three months early, and she gave birth to a stillborn child, monstrous, lacking arms and legs but possessing both male and female genitalia. Jeyne herself died soon after.
In 48 AC, Tyanna of the Tower confessed to having poisoned Jeyne's child in the womb.
This is all on the awoiaf wiki.
George is a better writer than we’ve given him credit for.
At the end of Maegor’s reign, House Baratheon, Lannister, Tyrell and Arryn rebelled against Maegor. Maegor had sent the young son of his fourth wife (Jeyne Westerling) as a ward(hostage) to House Lannister. Then he sent the two eldest sons of his sixth wife (Elinor Costayne) as wards(hostages) to House Tyrell and House Arryn. When the great houses rebelled, Lord Daemon Velaryon, the brother of Alyssa Velaryon, escaped with the Royal Fleet and left King’s Landing.
Maegor called his banners to fight against the threat but they were too few and Elinor Costayne begged him to surrender to save her two eldest sons and the son of the long deceased Jeyne Westerling. He banned her from the council room and refused to surrender and his lords and him and Rhaena made battle plans well into the night.
At the end of the war council, Maegor dismissed everyone and stayed alone in the throne room to brood.
The following morning, Elinor Costayne found the King dead, his wrists slashed and throat impaled on the back of the Iron Throne.
Lord Rosby was one of the last people to see his king alive and drank a cup of hemlock to follow him in death.
Lord Jordan Towers named his last son Maegor and died of a chest conjection after Jaehaerys’ ascension to the Throne.
Elinor Costayne left King’s Landing while donning the clothes of a penitent and eventually renounced all claims to nobility and became the owner of a Motherhouse in Lannisport.
Ser Maladon Moore was executed for his involvement in Queen Tyanna’s death whom had confessed to poisoning King Maegor’s wives.
Queen Rhaena was expelled from King’s Landing and her claim to the Throne was ignored because of her gender.
Ser Owen Bush was found dead in a brothel with his cock stuffed in his mouth.

2024.05.29 04:04 Total-Conflict-7239 1986 Condenser Trouble

Hello all! I was suggested to bring my query here as I'm having trouble getting a condenser that fits my truck. My 1986 truck is a Dealer add on system but I have compared it to a 1987 truck that has Factory AC and the condenser cores are identical mounts/brackets are different, Ive tried the dealerships ( one went well the other didn't) they gave me the # 88460-89109 for my truck using my VIN. None of the condensers I can find match to the part no above I've tried several websites like toyatapartsdeal, rockauto, summit, ebay, and even amazon nothing is bringing up condensers like what my truck had are there any sites I might not have come across or some specialty company that still makes these condensers for these trucks?
additional info of my condenser that seem to be odd from online ones are that it has SAE connections TPI of 18 and 16, its core is 23 1/4" x 10 1/8', and has removable mounting brackets
thank you in advance for any help or suggestions

2024.05.29 04:01 AbandonedPlanet Was torn between the M4P and Air 3. Just bought the Air 3 and I am astonished. Not a 10/10 but definitely at least a 8.5/10 IMO. Here's my review.

So I have had the mini 2 pro since about 6 months after it was released and the regular cell phone screen type controller. I recently bought the Air 3 with the RC controllefly more combo and I am just blown away by how much of an upgrade this was as a whole. The thing I kept hearing from friends and colleagues was "just get the mini 4 pro." Although the m4p is a great drone in its own right and I loved the few times I used it, I cannot stress enough how worth the money the Air 3 upgrade was.
THINGS I LIKE:
  1. Lenses/sensors - The star of the show IMO is 100% the 70mm focal length. People kept saying "you'll never use it" to me and that couldn't be further from the truth. It adds so many possibilities and perspectives that I'm going to have a hard time ever going back to a single lens. The background compression and parallax effect is just a game changer in terms of creativity and movements. I don't like that it was advertised as 48 mp when that very clearly isn't the case but quad-bayer has changed marketing of camera sensors for everyone. I knew what the image quality was going to be going in so I can't really complain about it too much.
  2. Controller - The next best part has been the RC controller. It was definitely tempting to just grab the regular controller and save some $$$ and I'm so so glad that I didn't do that. The RC makes me actually want to go out and fly. It brings the entire ritual of going out and flying much more tempting and easy. Basically just a huge ease of use/quality of life bump. If there was anything I could complain about here it would just be I would love a built in stylus so the screen doesn't get smudged up and non removable sticks that hide away inside the controller when not in use. Also more custom buttons would be nice.
  3. Powerful motors - Next on the list in my opinion is how much more powerful this drone is as a whole. My mini 2 always felt like I was taking a risk unless there was very low wind and good visibility. I cannot stress how much that isn't the case with the Air 3. I flew throughout golden/blue hour today in 20 mph winds and didn't even think about it. I'm also on an island so a lot of that was over water and I have not felt concerned even once. I've also gotten very few "high wind" pop ups even in very gusty weather. It's just so much more "powerful" and feels like I can climb to much greater heights and further from home more comfortably and easily. This feels more like a "tool" and less like a squirrelly little toy that I'm afraid is going to blow away.
  4. Image quality/D-log M: it speaks for itself if you've watched the reviews. The image quality when paired with the Freewell ND/PL filters is just unbelievable for how small those sensors actually are. DJI must have their R&D department working overtime. Everyone was worried about the smaller sensors and this thing has proven everyone wrong in the best way. Even at night it's been a treat. I do think for the price it should have access to full D log but it's a small gripe. Also D-log M is way easier to color grade and mess with if you enjoy actually coloring and not just small adjustments. I love the dynamic range and the color depth/flexibility. I do wish there were more codecs and more information on screen when choosing like bitrate and so on, but again DJI is only going to give you so much for the price.
THINGS I DISLIKE:
  1. I hate the bag it comes with. There's barely any room for any aftermarket accessories and although I will give DJI credit for making the bag of a high quality it's just simply too small in my opinion for a drone like this. Everything just barely fits in it and I simply don't like it.
  2. NO CHARGER. What in the flying fuck kind of a world are we living in where you spend damn near 2 grand on something after insurance and all that and they can't even throw in a bare minimum 65w brick/wire without it costing $100 extra? An Anker 100w brick/wire is $35 on Amazon 🤦 God damn if that isn't a stingy move on DJIs part. Gone are the days when you spent extra money on shit and got treated accordingly I suppose. What a shame.
  3. The missing prop holder strap that I now have to buy aftermarket. I hate the props flopping around when I'm holding the drone and it should have come with something to stop that IMO.
In closing if you're torn between the Air 3 and pretty much anything else around this price point just get the Air 3. You'll be happy you did.

2024.05.29 03:55 No_Set6731 The weakness of the main "evidence" Christians bring up when asked for proof of God/Jesus.

From my time debating I can gather the most popular and strongest proofs Christians offer of Jesus's very existence outside of the Bible are mentions from 1st century historians named:
  1. Tacticus, a dude literally describing the beliefs of Christians of his time, decades after when Jesus's death was said to take place.
  2. Josephus, whose works mentioning Jesus were at least half forgery so I'll put him below Tacticus on this ranking (no historian thinks that what was written from him is 100% unaltered by Christians later, he realistically probably only wrote the same as Tacticus did, simply describing Christians decades after when Jesus's death was said to take place).
How is two historians writing down the beliefs of a growing small group in their area based on what they heard and could've only possibly heard and not been given proof for evidence that the figure did walk the earth? I have no idea.
  1. The fact that "modern historians agree" Jesus existed even though they only reach this conclusion with the above two details to work with and a little bit of logic which makes it seem like there probably being a Jesus figure since it wouldn't make sense for Christianity to start off without a central leader if we think of it like modern cults, but we can't be sure the likelihood at all - with 0 other proofs at all of him from his time he just as easily as being a real dude could've been made up completely for reasons such as being a character to fulfill the Old Testament messiah. I'd say a magic man from a book with 0 proof besides two mentions from historians stating the beliefs of its followers decades later is far more likely to have been an idea, then based on a real person or multiple people (there were many false "messiahs" at the time) than a single real person that did all it said.
Some try to push absolute lies which I guess are common amongst Christians who don't even know the names of the historians Tacticus and Josephus to bring up, which are that there is physical proof of Jesus or the resurrection and anything else beyond his existence has any proof at all. Then there's the "500 eyewitnesses" to his resurrection - which flat out don't have any proof of existing.. Seriously, not a single one of them wrote about it or caused a ruckus which is if anything proof they didn't exist and are as mythical as Jesus walking on water. The last is the deaths of the Apostles, whom we have no proof to say most existed (all except for Paul, Peter, James and John) and no proof to say any of them died under Roman authority, which undermines the stories. There's no outside-Bible proof a single one of the 12 apostles were ever killed by the Romans and that all but 4 even existed, period.
Ultimately there is no way for us to know whether he existed or not and with all we have it seems Christians have their right to tip what we have to say he did and when they give the evidence, any rational person has the right to say that isn't sufficient proof he did.
Now onto the most popular "proofs" I've seen for God, which work a lot like the proof we have for Jesus: information that can only result in uncertainty and absolute bogus.
The best is the question of "What created the universe?" which can be answered with the big bang, and then "What created the big bang?" which can only be answered with we don't know as our understanding of anything breaks down before the big bang, there's no reason to believe the laws of physics or time existed and were the same before. We just can't know what was before the big bang ultimately so it doesn't make sense to ask questions that revolve around a before the big bang situation like "What created the big bang?". Then there's the long line of gibberish arguments in increasingly more cringe order:
"Something can't come from nothing" - this assumes that atheists think there was nothing before the big bang while the truth is no one knows or can know what was.
"Everything is in a such precise position for humans to exist, this can't all be luck" - laws of physics and the fact that we are probably sitting in the best time for life to arise in the universe, its not too chaotic now as it was billions of years ago or will be billions of years later. Basically, how things just simply unfolded play a huge part but it's not as impossible or special without a god jumping in as this argument makes it out to be.
"God made life evolve/life can't come from non-life" - Again, no reason for a god to jump in for the first replicating cells to form as its expected given the right conditions and just not all that unlikely for these conditions to be there if it happened in the deep sea vents of Earth.
"Humans have to get their morality from a source to all know if something is right or wrong objectively" - Humans all have brains, brains that evolved to work similar and tell apart right from wrong effectively. Objective morality, like all other human concepts, crumble to exist without humans but do in our societies and minds.
"Miracles happen!" - No, no they don't. In fact no evidence of anything supernatural has ever been recorded.
Any lower arguments are not worth mentioning but sadly are frequently used by religious people..
A good reality check timeline is:
big bang expansion

2024.05.29 03:52 OtherNewt9771 Mother with pancreatic cancer stage IV

This is my first post on Reddit - I created this account because the reality of my mums diagnosis and the possibility of her dying really sunk in tonight and I don’t know how to cope
I’m 18. I’m in the middle of my a levels and my mother is currently in hospital (and has been so far for 5 days). I need some honest thoughts on how long I have left with her because I need to be there when she goes. She’s my pillar. My love and my life. I’m an only child and my dad works abroad for 5-6 months at a time so it really has just been my mum and I my entire life.
She was taken to a&e five days ago - she aas supposed to have an operation yesterday. Something about removing a cancer cell blockage between the liver and gallbladder. They were going to put in a stent, but the operation didn’t end up happening. They said it was because she wasn’t deep enough Sleep from the anaesthesia. The operation is going ahead again in a couple of days time.
My first question is - is this the truth? Is it common for this to happen or are there some bigger complications I’m not being told about.
I’m also worried about her symptoms. from what I’ve been told she apparently has some of the cancer in her lungs. Yesterday was the first time I noticed signs of complete bowel incontinence. She’s yellowed from jaundice. She has been asleep a lot. She says she hallucinates sometimes. After the ‘operation’ yesterday she was very hard to wake and kept saying random things but I assume that part was the anaesthesia? She’s extremely weak and collapsed several times when I saw her.
None of the nurses are being clear about anything. The doctors haven’t come round to explain. I’m up at 2:49am right now because I’m scared I’ll get a phone call saying that she’s passed. She was misdiagnosed a year ago and the illness has spread extremely rapidly. I don’t want to take any more risks or chances with her.
Are there any other symptoms I should be looking out for? I’m just trying to prepare myself because she is my world and my best friend, and I currently have no clue how I’m supposed to deal with the impending grief

2024.05.29 03:48 AgfaKodak Yes I am a clueless newbie: Sovol SV06 + w/Klipper Screen proximity sensor problem.

Yes I am a clueless newbie: Sovol SV06 + w/Klipper Screen proximity sensor problem.
Over a year and I have only be able to successfully print one benchy, a couple of temperature towers and a few tiny other projects, When started trying to print bigger projects, I thought a Klipper upgrade might help, but it was full of problems as well.
Thought I had that all sorted out when suddenly had filament oozing issues, so I had to disassemble the printing head, check the parts and reassemble. I found nothing that would indicate a problem in the extruder; no filament to clean out and the passages were clear.
This DID NOT fix the filament oozing issues. It continues to “pee-out” a constant, slow stream of PLA when the head is heated to 210C. I don’t get it.
Also now the print head rams into the print surface when I try to Z calibrate and I have to hit the emergency stop on the Kilpper screen.
I followed the Sovol video tutorial on how to disassemble the extruder head to the letter. Seems though, they kinda forgot to tell you that this will hose your Z axis sensor calibration, as the proximity sensor has to be removed and it doesn’t return to the same position with the simplistic instructions they provide.
I went with the assumption that the proximity probe needs to illuminate JUST as it hits the .30mm distance you typically use for a .40mm nozzle. So, I set up the Z axis offset at .30mm, loosened the proximity sensor and slid it down until the LED turned-off (normally on when not near metal) and then brought it back up until it just turned on again to tighten the adjustment screw.
There is this cryptic message in the video that I can't decode (see screenshot).
https://preview.redd.it/j5pkbqw8u93d1.jpg?width=1631&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f559c00602079f33edd1db7ff9a5c5fbc6e42a23
The printer is now homing harder than normal on the X and Y axis stops. I tried restoring the Klipper screen to factory settings, but it’s still noticeably firm when it hits the end. It was never like this before I disassembled the extruder; that shouldn’t have affected it!
I am pretty much at a loss as how to proceed and being an old man of 63, none of my "buddies" can offer any helpful advice as they think its a fancy chicken rotisserie.
I know the proximity switch needs to be a specific distance from the print bed, but what is the point of reference you use to set this switch?
Looks like I’ve poked some holes in my PEI sheet and probably ruined a couple of new nozzles by ramming them into the print bed.
Probably is totally rookie failure, but it has me stumped and some advice is needed.

Fastlander Fallen by T.S. Joyce

Ace has one last promise to fulfill.
His father has asked him to try to join one of the Crews of Damon’s Mountains. When the new Fastlander Crew starts accepting applicants, Ace puts his name in the hat on a whim. Will the new Alpha ever allow him to be a part of his Crew? Not if he finds out who he really is. Ace has been hiding a secret about his lineage since he was a child, and now the Fastlanders are getting way too close for comfort. And to add to the pressure, there’s a human coordinating the Crew’s interview process that has his animal’s attention. At first he thinks his animal is hunting her, but the more he gets to know her, the more he realizes she is important. Corey Gable just might be the glue of the Fastlanders, and she doesn’t even realize her part in the destiny of this Crew. The problem? It’s twofold. One, he cannot under any circumstances bond to a human, and two? His life is in a free fall, and he cannot drag her into what is about to happen. If she wants to live, she’s got to stay human, and stay away from the Fastlanders. And most importantly? She has to stay away from Ace.
Corey Gable has lost someone she loves.
Corey’s cousin, Hallie, has been consumed by her new life with the shifters of Damon’s Mountains, and she’s left Corey behind. The only way to maintain her relationship with her cousin is to get involved in her new life—the ups, the downs, all of it. When Corey is roped into helping with the interview process of creating the new Fastlanders Crew, there are definitely some interesting characters who want the invite. One of them is tall, dark, and mysterious, and there’s something about him that keeps drawing her in—but he has big warnings for her. She’s messing with a destiny that could be the end of her life as she knows it. She wants to heed his advice, truly she does, but there’s just something about the mysterious stranger. And the more she finds out about who he is, the more she thinks she couldn’t leave him alone if she tried.

Hellhounds and Angel Cakes by Zoe Chant

He’s supposed to be a rough, tough, terrifying hellhound. That's hard when you're covered in chihuahuas.
Henry’s used to everyone being afraid of him – being a hellhound has that effect on people. What he’s not used to is having every animal within a four-mile radius suddenly wanting to be his best friend. Pigeons roosting on your shoulder: annoying, but mostly harmless. The local moose population stampeding toward you in the hopes of a hug: somewhat more worrying.
There’s nothing for it but to escape to the mountains, where he can use his hellhound form to intimidate the local wildlife into leaving him alone. But a stop for one last piece of cake before heading into the wilderness leads him straight to his fated mate. He's over the moon... but how can he court her when every animal in town is trying to leap into his arms?
Travel journalist Luna was looking forward to this assignment: covering the first annual Girdwood Springs Food Festival, along with her trademark: Fillmore, the world's ugliest dog. Specifically, she was looking forward to sampling all the amazing, mouth-watering local delicacies.
But there's other delights to sample in Girdwood Springs – such as the mind-bogglingly gorgeous, hunky man who is now covered in cake, thanks to Fillmore. And who seems to be strangely popular with the local animal population.
Suddenly, writing her article is the last thing on her mind…

Wild Scottish Beauty by Tricia O'Malley

“She was sunshine to my storm clouds, and I wondered how the two could ever coexist.”
A chance job offer in Scotland gives Willow Barlowe an excuse to escape the predictable life her overly controlling brother, Miles, wants for her. Excited to start fresh as a fashion intern for the local kiltmaker, Willow lands in small town Loren Brae brimming with sunshine and hope.
Until she discovers that her new boss is none other than Ramsay McMillan, her brother’s best friend, and the grumpiest man this side of the Atlantic. Never mind the ghost Highland coo that haunts the castle, nor the supposedly bewitched waters of Loch Mirren, Willow refuses to work under Ramsay’s watchful eyes, certain he’s reporting back to her brother.
Ramsay Kilts is home to one of the last remaining traditional kiltmakers in Scotland, Ramsay McMillan. Loyalty, continuity, and tradition are important to Ramsay–as is his privacy. After a family betrayal, Ramsay keeps his walls up, running a veritable kilt empire with as minimum fuss as he can. Enter Willow Barlowe–his new intern, good friend’s little sister, and a veritable thorn in his side.
If the thorn is made of sunshine and sparkles that is.
As the two clash, Ramsay must decide if loyalty is really more important than love?

Devious Gods by Caroline Peckham

Callie: Ruin chases close on our heels and the price we have paid for a chance at our salvation is higher than any of us could have presumed.
I have claimed a love so brutal that I fear losing it might destroy not just me but the world I have fought so desperately to save.
The gods watch us more closely than ever, urging us to fulfil the task our destiny demands. We only have to make it to the end of this road, but I fear what we might find when we reach that final destination.
Montana: I am no longer the girl born to ruin and ash, but a woman set on a path of salvation with my heart in the clutches of a monster.
Our eyes are finally open to the true enemies of our kind and now that we have managed to unite against all odds, we are determined to see the games of the gods end.
Time is running out and fate calls our name on a tumultuous wind. Let’s pray that we can answer it before damnation claims us all.

The Throne of Honour and Blood by J Bree

In our arrogance, the high fae forgot everything that mattered.
I carved out a reputation as the Savage Prince for my brutality against witches, but unable to wield our magic, I couldn’t stop my kingdom from being torn apart by war and famine while the Fates demanded my patience.
The worst was still to come.
After almost a thousand years of waiting for my Fates-blessed mate, and thousands of witches dead by my hand, the Fates revealed their cruelest truth yet.
With silver eyes that sliced to the bone and a humility that defied all reason, the witch I’m bound to has tested every inch of my restraint, but that was only the beginning.
Everything I once knew as true has come into question.
Loyalties will be tested, treaties broken, treason committed, and only the strongest will survive.
I am Prince Soren Celestial.
The rightful heir to the throne of the Southern Lands.
Nothing will keep me from my Fates-blessed mate.
Not even her hatred for me.

Devourer of Men: A Captain Hook, Crocodile, and Wendy Darling Reimagining by Nikki St. Crowe

I have few friends and fewer allies. What I do have on the island of Everland is a lot of people who want me gone. So when the Crocodile and Captain Hook reappear in my life, I am in no mood. And worse, they’re unknowingly endangering themselves by asking for me by a name I long considered dead.
Now, not only do I have to save myself, I have to save the two men who I swore I would murder with my bare hands if I ever set eyes on them again considering they abandoned me.
Unfortunately for me, Roc and Hook have other plans, and when I find myself caught between them, I have to make a decision: risk my heart or risk my life?
Devourer of Men is a dark MMF romantasy fairytale retelling. Characters have been aged up for this darker, grittier version. For a full list of content warnings, please visit the author's website.

Bespelled (Bewitched Book 2) By Laura Thalassa

“Neither magic, nor time, can keep us apart. We are like the stars. Eternal.”
No one told witch Selene Bowers having a soul mate would be so difficult. Nor did they warn her that he might be a vengeful, ancient sorcerer who would frame her for murder, force her to remember a past life he swears she lived, and then coerce her into an unbreakable marriage pact. But that’s exactly what happens the night of the Samhain Ball, when Selene finds herself in a jail cell.
After waking from enchanted sleep, Memnon swore to discover why Selene betrayed him long ago. But when his soul mate’s memories return, the truth reveals something else entirely. Horrified by his own actions and desperate to make amends, Memnon offers Selene the unthinkable: a magic bond that will give her full control over his will. And Selene is desperate enough to accept it.
But other enemies still haunt Henbane Coven, Selene’s magical academy, and they’ve taken a keen interest in her. If she wants to stop them, she’ll need Memnon’s help. But partnering with the sorcerer is a tricky business, especially when he’s dead set on winning her heart. And that can’t happen…because the bond controlling him will break the moment she falls in love with him.

Beautiful Beast (Dragons of Viria) by Devyn Sinclair

Standing in front of a dragon means dying by fire, but the heart knows there’s more than one way to burn.
Humans and dragons are at war, and I am a pawn in the battle.
Princess of a dying land, my life is not my own, and a marriage to a vicious, dragon-hunting prince will save my people from deadly famine or death by fire.
But before I can vow my life to a monster, dragons drop screaming from the sky with a single aim. End the alliance. Kill me. I welcome the flames, relieved to burn instead of rot.
But the flames never come.
One look in the dragons' eyes, and they carry me away. Three dragons whose gaze burns with hunger and fills me with fire.
They're not what we were taught, and every passing day I learn more of the truth. Dragons are not the enemy we thought they were.
Still, one question remains: for centuries no one has stood before a dragon and survived. If these dragons were sent to kill me, why am I still alive?

Midlife Vampire Hunter (The Forty Proof Series Book 9) by Shannon Mayer

Crash:
I had her in my arms, only to lose her moments later. Frantic doesn't even begin to describe my state of mind as I search for Bree.
That search takes me deep into my past and to a family home that I swore I would never return to.
To find Bree, I must face a queen I defied and a monster that wants my soul. All while being heckled by a demon-infested blade.
Goddess help me succeed.
Breena:
Being abducted by a woman who is supposed to be dead, and weirdly looks a heck of a lot like me, is disturbing. Being told my death is needed to complete a wicked spell and that I'll be turned into a vampire? Even more disturbing.
I can't reach Crash or my friends. I have no idea where I am. My only ally? Alan. My ex-husband. Yup, you read that right,
The path to the end of my story is shadowed in fog, danger, and mystery, but I begin to see through it as the players and truth emerge. And that sight shows me that the sliver of hope is worth hanging onto, that my friends are with me even when I cannot see them, and that a future free of those who mean us harm is possible.
Even if it costs me more than I ever planned on paying

2024.05.29 03:48 _JustSaying- My national nonprofit Employer is requiring i use my personal cell phone my entire shift.

I've been working for a national nonprofit for almost 9 years and recently discovered that they've only been paying me slightly above base pay. I can't describe the heartache considering how we receive several calls constantly having to defend the salaries for those at the top. They are now requiring we use our personal cell phones to receive ID confirmation for the variety of applications required to do our job. Every call we receive often requires verification in multiple applications and each time out after about 15 minutes, requiring another verification sent to our phones.
When i was hired almost 9 years ago, none of this was a part of the position. Tech improved, so it's required now. The thing is that 6-7 years ago when we all moved to Work from Home, they started providing us a partial stipend for our internet bill, since it was required for business use... Here we are 2-3 years into this cell phone thing and no real movement or even response has been given from "above." And unfortunately, after Covid- the internet stipend was reduced and hasn't been raised back up since.
I don't know the laws around any of this stuff and very interested in any realistic resolution or info that might calm my upset.
And for those wondering why i don't leave a place that obviously doesn't value me...I stay for the flexibility as i transition into working for myself. I've got another year or 2 to go. The dilemma is that i can't rock the boat so much that they let me go, especially since they're preparing for new hires in July.
Edit: Obviously, it's not about the cost- texts are free. But I'm hoping for helpful info versus opinions. Thanks so much.

2024.05.29 03:47 SakakiStar Speculation : SS2 Gohan vs Bojack could be one of the themes for Worldwide Download

It may sounds like a weird pick for a Download Celebrations, but you never know what Dokkan maybe thinking, but there could be a chance of that may happenin. Alternatively, it could be a Movie Bosses theme, based on what I have gathered so far.
  1. For some reasons they still hold off the SS2 EZA, even after Buu Saga where they EZA a lot of those units, not to mention, SS2s are the oldest Dokkanfest units without EZA and yet many of the DFE units that come after them already got their EZA, leading me to believe they are saving them for something related to SS2
  2. Vegeta is still the only SS2 Leader right now, and really it's about time to have one, knowing this year Dokkan seems to buffing the more niche/long ignored categories this year, I think it's not out of possibility that SS2 is one of the categories they chose to buff, but with Power Beyond SS exists that's made to invalidate SS2, not sure if they're still going to bother with SS2 specifically, but hey, I'm the person who want to see Earthlings got a direct buff rather than just Earth Bred Warriors despite that category is made to invalidate Earthlings.
  3. This one may seems strange, but why now they put out a SS2 Trunks when they could've done that sooner, one I would think Dokkan's mistake for not recognizing him as SS2 until recently, but at the same time seems pretty suspicious they put it now, I wanted to think it's a coincidence that they finally thought out it's actually SS2, but at the same time I kinda doubt that.
  4. The RSL categories aka Resurrected/Storied/Legendary units, I talked about this earlier ago which Resurrected Warriors got their leader as Hirudegarn, Buu for Storied Figures, leaving Legendary still the only category not getting any new leader so far, and Namek Saga Goku is still the only leader, even though Dokkan no longer doing having Dual Dokkanfest as buildups for the theme of WWDL since 2020, what if they do it now just in a different take, it's a coincidence that both Hirudegarn and Buu are part of the RSL categories, if the choices they did is intentionally, who else is in part of RSL categories? Bojack and King Piccolo, I'm leaning towards it's Bojack for these reasons
  5. Most of the characters who haven't got EZA up until this point are SS2 and Movie Bosses (and lesser extend, Heroes), some candicates I would think may be getting EZA are
-SS2 which they could've gave them EZA in GW but they chose not to for some reasons -LR SS2 Angel Vegeta, see above -LR SS2 Gohan from Bojack movie -Paikuhan and Janemba -Bojack -LR Turles Army -INT Broly -TEQ LR Broly
  1. Super EZA Broly, simple
That's all my guesses, if I'm correct at SS2 Gohan/Bojack being one part of Worldwide Download celebration, what about the other part? That's something I'm not too sure, for all I know they could be putting Z Broly or even Cell.

2024.05.29 03:42 ScurryOakPlusIvyLane I planned out max fuel rods. I am going to cry.

Just don’t do it. Don’t do it. You need crazy power just to run the fuel rod factories. Then you need water. Oh Yoba. The water is a disaster. I might have to ship it by train. That would likely be easier.
I also want this to be a very resource efficient save which means I’ll be using the pure ingots as well as wet concrete because I hate myself. So that’s a couple thousands more MW in refineries.
I’m also going to need a massive train network to support it. I only have monorails at the moment.
Conclusion: I’m restarting and making my world in such a fashion to where the transition will be easier. I’ve planned out all space elevator parts. Now I’m working on planning for all of the factories that I am going to want for general construction. I will probably be making 1-5 PM of all of the parts based on how frequently I am going to need them.
Once I get oil I’ll be setting up the refineries. generator arrays, and blenders. Turbo fuel isn’t the worth effort for me. Blended fuel is though.
After that I plan on tapping everything I can and converting it into as many points as I can.
And if 1.0 comes out before then I guess I’ll just rinse and repeat.
