So it's quite clear that water maps are not popular; most players ban them, so they were removed from the 1v1 ranked pool. In Quick match, where they still exist, going by 1v1 QM games played, we can see water maps are among the least played, suggesting players are either banning them, or dodging when they get them.
In theory, water maps would be an interesting change of pace, adding new gameplay styles and strategies that we don't see on land.
But in practice, the thing about water maps is they tend to seriously distort game balance, and leads to 1 dimensional gameplay that isn't fun to watch or play. Because water is such a fast way to boom, building a dock and winning water is essential, making civs like Japanese absolutely dominant on big water maps due to their 30% cheaper fishing boats, and shinobi to disable enemy docks. Other civs, like Malians, feel obsolete, because they lack watewood perks, can't get enough wood to both build pit mines/houses and still age up at a competitive time, and their cows are too slow relative to how fast fishing is.
The gameplay on water maps is almost always the same- both sides open with a dock, maybe there's a bit of dark age spearmen fighting depending on the matchup, then they hit feudal, and it basically just comes down to ship micro, maybe a couple land units raid to distract and idle their wood line, and if one side loses water, the games over. Games end very quickly, and its rare to see any significant battle on land, siege, etc.
I think this issue has been largely ignored because of the 1v1 ranked pool excluding water maps, but I think it' still worth fixing because it affects the quick play experience, and because tournaments still include water maps for some reason.
Ideally, water would play out more like AOE3- it is a viable option for booming, and you can't ignore your opponent water booming, but it's not so insanely OP to the point where Age 1 docks are the only viable way to keep up with your opponent.
Thus, I would suggest the following:

1. Reduce fishing boat base gather rates from 0.7/0.9 to 0.6/0.75, but increase the effect of fishing boat techs by 10% at each rank from 20/15% to 30/25%. This means that opening with a dock in dark age is no longer an absolute necessity, but still worth it on certain civs. At the same time, it makes so that later in the game, water investment still pays off, so you can't just ignore water all game.
   
2. Give better water perks to civs that are truly lacking on water. Malians for example have practically nothing; no buffs to villager wood production, no buffs to docks or fishing boats, just a useless transport ship garrison bonus, and trade ship toll outposts, and their cows are obsolete compared to fish eco...I don't think I've ever seen them picked in a tournament on water, please correct me if I'm wrong. There are probably a few other civs that need water buffs too.

I almost always run quickplay because I always get that glitch where new players won't join your ship after the first mission. It sucks having to restart the game after every mission just to get through an op. I usually just say fuck it and try to help other randoms out in quickplay.
I joined a dif 6 yesterday that had just started. Ended up with a couple low level 20's. Perfect, they seem pretty competent and will need samples. The main obj and extraction was at the top of the map, and we ran through it pretty quickly. With about 30 min left, they fumbled with a light outpost near extraction. The three of them were there, so I figured they could handle it and started heading towards the rest of the stuff at the bottom of the map.
As I finished two light outposts by myself, they call extraction. The three of them are just sitting on it, with 20+ min on the mission and like 14 reinforcements, wtf. I told them in chat to just sit in extraction while I handle the rest. I took out two more medium outpost, including an artillery, activated a SAM, and collected a shit ton of samples while doing it.
I'm running and gunning, thinking " This is great, I'll get us 22 commons and 17 rares. Plenty of time, only a heavy outpost left, and I got full eagles and an orbital laser I've been saving. Best of all, the pelican would already be waiting at extraction for me. Let's get it"
Should've known.
The second I finish the heavy , one of the randoms jumps in the pelican and starts the timer. What the actual fuck. We have 10 min left, and I'm all the way across the map. With all the samples. They were kind enough to let me solo more than half the mission while they picked their nose at extract, just to screw us all out of the free samples and their time. I told them in chat that I had all the samples and that it was a dick move to start extraction when there was no way I could get back, and we're not going to get any rewards for the time and effort. So naturally I got kicked.
If they were just screwing with me, then kudos I guess. Elaborate and frustrating. 9.9/10 the community in this game is pretty great, and the worst you have to worry about is someone just not knowing how stuff works, but god damn. Last straw for me, I will only host from now on. I will not tolerate such undemocratic behavior on the SES Dream of Steel.

Hi smart peeps. In Item Fulfillment records, Packages tab, Package Tracking Number field, does anyone know where the hyperlink URL comes from? We are having issues with it and all I'm getting is finger pointing between NetSuite support, our 3PL, Shopify, and the shipping carriers.
Example:
In our 3PL's portal I can click the tracking number hyperlink and I end up on the correct USPS carrier's website.
When I click that same tracking number hyperlink in NetSuite's Item Fulfillment record I get an error: "Unknown carrier". The 3PL is only passing over the tracking number, not a URL. So I'm not sure where / how the hyperlink gets applied.
When I click that same tracking number hyperlink that NetSuite passes over to Shopify via FarApp I end up on FedEx's website with "tracking number not found", which is a correct error since the tracking number is for USPS.
Hoping someone in this channel can solve this mystery for me!

I purchased an item nearly 2 weeks ago on May 9th. The shipping label was printed May 13th. The tracking says USPS is still awaiting item but at this point I messaged them to get a refund. There’s been zero communication aside from 1 message saying “is been send” even though tracking doesn’t reflect that.
The distance between us is 4 hours and I feel like delivery should take 2 days, 3 max. I opened up a report with eBay and I was told I have until the 24th for them to step in. It’s too late to cancel because the seller has “shipped” the item but all they did was print out the label. If they decide to ship it last minute on May 23rd am I still eligible for a refund through eBay?

I purchased a bag on mercari almost two weeks ago. It was shipped out on the third business day after I contacted the seller. I have a weird feeling I’m never going to receive the item. First because they didn’t ship until I asked, second because the shipping label was created in one state and they dropped it off in another 9 hours away. They used a self service kiosk, so I think they typed it all in and kept or threw away the label. Hello,
Im 36 YO and I am looking for an old game. Hard to say how old. Maybe 90's, most likely early 00'.
Checked the internet far and wide, even tried chat GPT and alike to no avail.

• The closest game I found was Subspace Continuum. Similar but it was more colorful and looked better.
• Space ship shooter.
• 2D / top down
• It was pretty colorful
• space ship had boost which would zoom you forward and make 'zoom like' sound and live a smoky trail
• took place on stages, you could fall off into space
• stages had circular healing spots in the corner of the map, you could fly onto to fix your ship
• there were little square boxes you could shoot and sometimes get weapons from them
• When you shoot those boxes they would fly everywhere
• everything was very floaty. Ship would not stop immediately, neither would boxes
• there were pretty smoke and explosion effects
• I think you could chose ships
• there were enemy ships, very aggressive and would mess you up easily
• I remember turrets and I think also teleportation spots
• I'm from Poland (could be an obscure Polish game ? Unlikely)
• I would buy a gaming mag called CD-Action which always contained a full game and some demos. Possibly I had it from there. I found a list of all full releases, but sadly not a list of demos.
• At least, I'm pretty sure I only played only a demo
