2024.05.20 22:58 wcstillwell Bellevue service has become a deal breaker for me. What are my options?

I've documented a few of the really problematic issues with post-sale service out of the Bellevue location, but this time I think I've hit the point where the next step for me is to just sell it and move on (once they finally fix it). Rivian can't succeed IMO once viable competition with actual after-sale support emerges. Which really sucks since the product itself is excellent.
On Thursday night, as I was backing into the garage, the cameras came on for a half second and then the dash reset fully, like I had done a software reboot. But I put it in the garage no issues, everything rebooted, and all seemed fine.
On Friday afternoon, I went to disconnect the truck from the charger, and even though the light changed from green to white, the handle wouldn't disengage. I tried everything I could think of to disconnect it, but nothing seemed to matter. Everything else worked fine.
Called Rivian Service, they went through all the same options (manually stop charging, hard reboot, disconnect power, even pulled trim panels and popped the red loop), and none of them got the lock to release. The said that they needed to dispatch a mobile tech, and would flag my call for Sat morning, as by this time the service center had closed for the day. Sat came and went, and no one followed up. On Sunday I called back in, they said they had messaged everyone at Bellevue and no one was responding.
On Monday, I got a call from Bellevue around noon asking if I would be home on Thursday from 8am to 1pm. I said yes, and was told they would TRY lock that time for me. When I asked if they could do it earlier, they told me this was the best they could do.
We will see if they come out on Thursday. And if they can even fix it. They already told me that I need another service appointment afterwards to re-enable L3 charging (gets disabled when you pull the red loop), and they have no open priority appointments available in Bellevue in their system at all.
But this just reinforces the problem for me. Beyond the issues I've listed previously:

I opened a ticket for intermittent proximity sensors in mid-April. They scheduled an appointment for late Aug.
I still don't have a working tonneau cover. They emailed me they had a replacement in for me in Apr and then scheduled that for Aug as well.
I have a metallic clunk on low speed accel and decel I opened a ticket for in early May; they still haven't scheduled that at all.

Auburn was supposed to make this better. It hasn't. And I know they are the Amazon truck service center too, but that just can't be the path forward (move another service center for Amazon onsite at a warehouse).
Now I have a truck stuck in my garage. I'm supposed to move my daughter next weekend, and can't get into the storage lockers behind the truck and I'll have to rent a UHaul since the rental they gave me is a mid-size SUV and not a truck
I love this vehicle, and have a 14xx VIN so it kills me to look at just quitting on them, but post-sale matters more than anything, so I think it's time to move to a dealer that can service their vehicles. Tesla is bad, but they aren't this bad (we've had two). Maybe the Hummer EV since they are GMC? What are the other options, and how long will people tolerate the bs that is the Bellevue service experience?

Had shoulder pain since August 23 - Also diabetic type 1 so not sure if its taking longer to heal due to that.
Can anyone explain in further detail what this is?
I used to do kickboxing and general gym/weightlifting last year but i come to a stop Jan 24 due to the amount of pain, I also work in a mechanical engineering role so do use my shoulder for a lot of work too but i try now not to be over excessive of it.

Just bought a 24 gmc canyon AT4 that’s listed as in transit. Dealer made some calls and found it’s legitimately in transit having left Detroit and had landed in a holding/distribution lot in Colorado awaiting its final trip to Oklahoma where I’m located. They seemed unwilling to try to even ballpark a delivery window/timeframe and I understand I can’t hold them, nor would I, to a timeframe they might suggest as it’s not in their control for weather and rate for which equipment arrives to transport vehicles. Anyone able to provide insight on average times vehicles sit at these locations? Again, If it’s really that impossible I’m willing to accept that, the dealer just seems very blunt in their “no” answer and won’t give any explanations. Thank you.

Welcome to the March new chargers report, fellow Chadoomers!
Almost all of you are my fellow Leaf owners, hoping for just one new chargepoint on your favorite route, before the great dwarven CHAdeMO forges beneath the earth go cold for all time. Here's an update.
Here are all of the new US and Canadian CHAdeMO (Leaf fast-charging) stations that rolled out in April, according to the Alternative Fuels Data Center. You can fetch the data yourself here. Feel free to report inaccuracies to the AFDC.
For comparison's sake: in the US, there were 200 "new" (or updated) CHAdeMO stations added in March, with at least 200 chargepoints. To put it in perspective, there were 102 new or updated US stations in April of 2023. This month's report is surprisingly strong, given how late we are in CHAdeMO's lifecycle. It is unclear if this is due to a large number of refreshed stations, or a large rollout of new stations that happen to include at least one CHAdeMO chargepoint, but it may be the latter thanks to Inflation Reduction Act funding. In any case, it is good news for those of us with legacy vehicles.
Keep in mind that even EVGo has started to roll out stations where only some of the bays support CHAdeMO. This makes sense given that only Nissan still sells a CHAdeMO pure-battery-electric car in the US, and the newer Nissan Ariya model is CCS. The Mitsubishi Plug-In Hybrid Outlander PHEV also supports CHAdeMO.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.

To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first. Some stations may actually have more CHAdeMO chargepoints than reported here, but most won't, because even EVGo has started to reduce the number of CHAdeMO chargepoints per station. So in the case of CHAdeMO I make a pessimistic assumption to avoid creating unrealistic expectations.
Even so, for actual trip planning I recommend using PlugShare. This report is mainly useful to understand trends.

2024.05.10 15:33 boutell New US and Canadian CCS chargers in April 2024

Here are all (*) of the new US and Canadian CCS (Level 3 fast-charging) stations that rolled out in April 2024, according to the Department of Energy. You can get the data yourself here.
These chargers are suitable for most new EVs on the market, except for:

Tesla drivers who haven't bought the official CCS adapter yet. Certain older Teslas need additional work done to accept the adapter.
Leaf owners like me, owners of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and some owners of older cars that also use CHAdeMO. If you drive such a car, see my matching post in leaf.

Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
There were 330 CCS charging stations with a total of 682 chargepoints added or refreshed in April 2024, which is a major uptick in both stations and chargepoints. There were only 166 new CCS charging stations in April 2023, with only 267 chargepoints. Things are trending dramatically upwards.
Some part of this is due to Tesla Magic Dock stations. Previously Tesla didn't report these to the AFDC as CCS, but now they do. And that makes sense because all CCS drivers can use them.
NOTE: most Tesla Superchargers do NOT have magic dock as of this writing (all those shown in this report should have it). I recommend using PlugShare to locate compatible stations for your vehicle.
(*) "What about other Tesla Superchargers? Can't everybody charge with NACS now?"
It's coming for many makes and models, and for newer Ford models as well as a few other manufacturers charging at v3 and v4 Superchargers is already an option with a free adapter from the automakers. GM should release their adapter in the coming weeks. But since they are not open to all CCS vehicles, this report is not the place for them. Tesla's app provides the best guide to their locations, including locations that work with non-Tesla vehicles.

Parents are hell-bent over me not taking a drop year and just want me to join a college this year itself. Turns out i have an above average chance of getting into TMCH , Rathinamangalm.
I fear ill miss out on everything that “the bangalore college experience” offers in the best years or my life if i choose to pursue mbbs here in chennai.

From my experience I feel like Franchise owners always put their life saving and business investment on young deceptively eager GMs who are just trying to have reliable work. Good owners should be there everyday or so seeing how their business runs and getting their employees the resources they need. I use to be a 1st asst for ten years in my teens and twenties and thank god me and my gm worked great together because our owners did nothing but critique bitch and moan. But after much bullshit I finally quit thank god (now I operate machines that blank parts for ford gmc etc. making 30/hr and it’s the best job I ever had) but I was working 60 hrs a week for jjs at 10.50 and I even helped them open a new store with no bonus in sight until sale caught up which never did because they picked the stupidest location ever. Wel anyway before the second store our first store was top notch and we use to have to be able to score a 95 on the audit or no bonus and this was when audits were like every 3 months back when jimmy cared and didn’t sell his pride and joy to a soulless multi corp. but our store averaged a 97 audit for years and years.. man we had a good ass crew back in the day and our owner took it for granted so I just found out my old gm left after finally having enough(this is like 3 yrs after me) and her sister who was my 2nd asst is now a gm at the 2nd store and she was a horrible opener and closer back in my day. She was the worst manager by a whoooole lot so I can imagine the owner not having any of the people who use to make him all his profit anymore that he’s resort to her being a gm But anyway my old gm told me the other day that her sister now averages a 40% audit score 🤮🤮🤮 and she told Me they only have 2 audits a year and the owner doesn’t even care anymore he’s just trying not to file bankruptcy and bottom out. I’m so glad I got out of that trap. Jimmy johns held me back so much in my twenties because I was loyal to guy who didn’t even care about a business so much that he put all the responsibilities on us. Now I have a house 2 cars 2 kids and a happy marriage and I’m only 31 and I left jj when I was 27. Back when I worked for that happiness sucking job I could barely afford my car note on my 2014 Kia Forte. Too anybody wondering if you should leave honestly my best advise is you should of been left unless you have a legit owner who takes his job serious and respects his employees enough to keep them happy and I don’t have faith there is many of them anymore. I hope y’all find your way and best of luck to the ones trying to make it. I know the pain and don’t wait for it to get better. It never does

I've done some research but I'm getting mixed answers, do I need the whole dash wiring harness or just the dash fuse box? I've got the new door panels installed but only the speakers are working, none of the buttons do. I'm going to buy the fuse box but just trying to get confirmation that I need the harness first.

The bright, neon blue fluorescent lights, strategically composed across the building, leave a tangible teal hue on the sidewalk and reminds you briefly of your fight against the demon-imp-like-Dave-Navarro. You take the silver chrome elevator up to your rooftop apartment and Heely towards your walk-in-bank-style-heavy-duty-vault. You reach to place your Golden Skull inside, but to your shock and dismay, there is no Golden Skull in its fine Italian leather Gucci carrying case. There is only a note written in those cool Sharpie pens that leave a metallic line in the middle, stating, “Open the Safe”
You place your finger onto the fingerprint pad and to your surprise, the safe doesn’t open as it normally does. Instead, it audibly gives an error code, “Error 666. Repeat. Error 666. Atchung Baby! Kelly Doty is inside the safe”.
In a panic, you switch over to the keypad and hastily type in your vault password, “$MyMomisTheBestMom123$”. The vault door clicks and begins to slowly reveal a tiny, demon-imp-like Kelly Doty hovering over your precious Golden Skull!
You scream, “Get away from my goddamned Golden Skull you crazy demon-imp-like Kelly Doty!!”
But before you can grab the imp by its wings and smash it to the ground in a move that you personally learned from Desi Arnez himself, it puts up a semi-transparent, but impregnable (even for Dave Navarro) magical barrier. The demon-imp’s eyes begin to exude a glowing, bright, Wiccan green that most tattoo artists are unable to achieve ever, especially when dealing with older aged, sagging skin. It starts to recite in latin over and over again, “Cutis tua munda est. Cutis tua munda est. Non magis Iaponica atramentum”
You’ve got no idea what the crazy-demon-imp-like Kelly Doty is chanting, but you kind of make out the words, “magis” and “Japan” and it shakes you to your core. You start to feel sick to your stomach and your human canvas begins to sting like after a day of tanning out in the hot Florida sun and forgetting to put on your Coppertone SPF 300. You look down at your forearms, and shockingly, all of your Japanese tattoos begin to fade away into oblivion.
It is all too much for you to handle and you fall to the ground, screaming in horror, your hands clawing at your face. The demon-imp-like Kelly Doty laughs an evil laugh (much like Christian’s laugh every time he bullied Jimmy Snaz’s brother Kyle in Season 11 Grudge Match) and disappears in a puff of vintage 1984 ozone depleting AquaNet Hairspray, causing you to retch violently, eventually passing out in your own vomit.
You awake 6 hours later to see a pukish pool of half eaten cubano and milky expresso staining your oriental rug covered floors like the weird tannish yellow that Kelly Severtson always uses, yet fails to deliver with. You then remember the horror of what took place. You stand up quickly and check the to make sure the wheel of your Heely’s are down, only to see that your Heely’s no longer have wheels. You awkwardly walk to your Heely closet to find that absolutely non of your Heelys have wheels in them.
You stumble over to the silver chrome elevator and run smack dab into the door. It does not automatically open for you. You manually smash the elevator button over and over again, but nothing happens. In a panic you decide that you are going to have to take the stairs like some refugee recently come to shore. 2024.05.02 05:40 stlatos Phrygian mankan / mankēn ‘man’

The only Middle Phrygian inscription is also one of the longest ones known. Its interpretation is dependent on the translation of several words that I don’t feel have been analyzed correctly. The word manka ‘stele’ (Obrador-Cursach 2018) never needs to have this meaning and many of its attestations can not be translated this way without intensely forced interpretations. For example, Obrador-Cursach says that mankēs must be dative in 8.1 (to mean ‘harm to this grave and to this stele’) when this is obviously not the normal ending (-ay / -ai would be expected), so he says the genitive was “confused” with a dative. Why only for this one word? In the same way, manka is claimed to also be dative in 64.1, and come from *mankāi with a long diphthong *āi > ā. It is not likely that these needs for special analysis (or pleading) would cluster around manka- by chance, among other problems (below). Instead, it seems clear these forms are not in the dative and can not be read ‘to the stele’, etc., but as ‘man’ in phrases for ‘whoever (should harm this tomb’, etc. Obrador-Cursach’s *me:n-kaH2 ‘memorial’ also would need ē-grade for no clear reason, and there is no evidence of similar words in other IE. My idea allows a new etymology to be found that fits the sounds and context. The only explanation for these problems is that a nom. mankan / manka / manke / mankēs existed, with *-ēn / *-ān likely the oldest form (with later dissimilation and/or analogy, or partly due to Ph. sound changes). It is possible that manka ‘stele’ existed separate from mankan ‘man’, but all examples I have examined seem to fit manka(n) ‘man’ alone, and I will not look further into it here.

New Phrygian inscriptions are classified as in Obrador-Cursach (Haas in parentheses); only 1 Middle Phrygian inscription :

Here, the first sentence (divided by : with each 17 syllables long) would be:

A great man has departed from here and into the beloved-land/paradise of the dead.

A great man (manka mekas) has departed (kiuin) from here (sas) and (ke) into (en) the beloved-land/paradise (bilatedenan) of the dead (nekoinoun).

There is no other possible interpretation within IE that would make sense, and a long compound like bilatedenan that can only be from *bhilo- ‘beloved / dear’ and nekoinoun that must be from *nek^- (likely *nek^onyo-s ‘dead (man)’ by analogy with pokgonio- ‘the dead?’) support its funerary context and the need for each less certain word to have the meanings I’ve given. If manka mekas ‘big stele’ existed, it would have no subject that fit the context, and the lack of any good translation until now seems to show this is an impossible translation. The sources of my translations not previously known :

*mangyo- ‘man’ > PSlavic *monžjo- > OCS mǫžĭ, R. muž; Proto-Uralic *man’c’V > F. mies, Mi. man’s’i, OHn. mogy-, H. magy-
*mangyo:n > Greek *mazṓn, Amazṓn ‘Amazon’ < ‘*without men’
*mangyo:n > *manke:n > mankan (with *yo: > *e: before known *e: > *a: as in *H2ne:r > anar ‘man’)

This is likely the only word that had a nom. in -ān at the time, so analogy (or optional dissim. n-n > n-0 ) often changed it to manka (masc. a-stem). The forms manke / mankēs would then be nom., in a dialect with retained ē (or *e: > *æ: > a: / e: in dialects, like Greek *a: > *æ: ). If it did not merge with ā in this dialect, it would explain why after *-ēn > *-ē, *-ē > -ēs was the preferred type of analogy (since manke did not fit into any paradigm). This is impossible to fit into an original fem. a-stem, along with the problems above. When manke and mankēs appear in the same position in 2 sentences, there is no way to reasonably claim that -e in one came from *-āi, since that leaves -ēs without any source. If -ēs is somehow genitive used as a dative, that would leave -e without any source. It would make no sense for these and other oddities to be due to several unrelated errors or unknown changes; they add up to the need for a new analysis.

The optional change of *-t > -n is not theoretically impossible. However, it is also possible that the pl. *-nt became both -n or -t (either in dialects or by sandhi), allowing analogy to extend pl. -n / -t to change sng. -t to -t- / -n. Not only is there no other pl. subject available if -n came from *-nt, but no other word that might otherwise be the verb. This 3sng. -n is also seen in 41.3 (that has far too many words ending in -n, 2 of which must be verbs, and no pl. nouns, to make sense without 3sng -t / -n ).

To make sure this manka(n) ‘man’ is correct, look at other examples of its use :

Here, mankēs looks like a nom. and fits context. If ios mankēs were not a unit (bordering the phrase), mankēs would need to be dat. (if part of “k[nou]mani… mankēs ‘to grave or stele’”), for which no reasonable interpretation would fit. Obrador-Cursach claims this DOES fit due to (ai)ni… aini being used to coordinate 2 nouns or phrases, but he also says it does not always act this way or have any specific meaning (sometimes just the first word in a sentence, apparently only introducing the rest). The use of (ai)ni… aini / ayni(y)… ayni(y) / etc. in these cases seems to modify *ios mankēs ‘(this) man’, etc., to create ios ni… aini mankēs ‘whichever man / whoever’, with repetition having a purpose similar to PIE *kWid-kWid ‘whatever’, etc. This is probably just specifying which meaning of *ios mankēs is intended, since the same type exists without doubled ()ni in:

Again, there is no reason to see manka as dative here. PIE *kWo-s > kos seems clear, but these kW-words are not usually used for ‘whoever’ or ‘some man’ by themselves. Here, aini… aini… appear before each word I claim is bound together in meaning by them. If these words were just PART of 2 phrases each coordinated by aini, they would not always need to appear directly adjacent to them. It also seems unlikely these translations of mine would be possible if manka as ‘stele’ were needed.

There is another word that both must mean ‘stele’, has the proper case ending, and appears along with manke (showing that it can not mean ‘stele’) :

*Hak^to- ‘pointed / raised (object)’ > G. aktḗ ‘headland/cape/promontory / raised place’, Ph. asta- ‘stake? / point? / stele?’

Since -ai shows that astai is dative, its presence in [knoumanei]… astai makes more sense than manke somehow being dative, with yet another ending that doesn’t fit the standard translation. The presence of ani (not aini) and astai sa (not sai) shows that ai > a: was in the process of happening, but not complete.

Another inscription is impossible to translate with *manka- ‘stele’. Here, mankan actually appears with the ending -n, making its coordination with knouman ‘grave’ possible for once (unlike all previous examples), but, of course, since mankēn must be nom., there is again no reason to take mankan as from *manka- with acc. -n. The presence of clear datives xeuneoi & bratere can only come from *ksenwiyo- ‘stranger’ & *bhraH2ter- ‘brother’, showing that ‘to brother [and] stranger’ must exist (parallel to curses with ‘in the sight of god & men’, etc.). This requires one word here to be a curse, likely equivalent to a known word. If optional *-d- > -d- / -t- is real (*wedo:r ‘water’ > Ph. bédu, *podms > podas ‘feet (acc)’), ddikeseian : tetik- would imply analogical assimilation in reduplication (like Celtiberian *didH3- > *dizo- > zizo- ‘give’). Loss of unstressed -V- seems uncommon but real, seen by spellings that are unlikely to be mistakes (manka / mnka, baba / bba, ddik- / tetik-). There is no need to emend this to *adik- or *edik- (against Nikolaev 2023). The first line, as semoun knouman ad ithrerak, also should be divided in this way (not *adithrerak ) both to avoid creating a long word that need not exist and to allow a phrase from (with sandhi) *ad semoun knouman ad ithrerak. Since *th must have existed in *pentH2- > *penth- > penn- ‘find’ (Obrador-Cursach 2020), the -thr- here is not odd, but it would have few possible causes. There is no reason why *sr > thr would not work, so if an itherak is (like knouman) an object that should not be harmed in religious context, and -e- shows it was a compound of an o-stem, there is only one stem found in Greek that begins with *is()ro- and ends in *()ag()-. For maimarēan, a reduplicated *mar-mar- would undergo optional r-r > y-r / r-y (as in G. *(s)mr-tu(ro)- ‘knowing’ > G. mártur \ márturos \ maîtus \ Cr. maíturs ‘witness’, *mol-mol- > moimúllō ‘*grind the teeth (in displeasure) > grimace’, and maybe *prork- > proikós / prókoos ‘timid/cowering / beggar’). In context (sest bugnos vasos Kanutiievanos ‘this is the property of the good Kanutieivais), it seems to fit (the final 2 words are known to be in gen. (vasus, Kanutieivais), so no other translation would fit).

Around 1:15am, as Ivan traveled eastbound along US Highway 40, tragedy struck. A vehicle collided with him, leaving him critically injured on the side of the road. Showing no compassion, the driver left Ivan alone, without aid, and fled the scene.
Just before 2am, a passing motorist discovered Ivan in the roadway and called for help. Despite being rushed to Union Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Ivan’s cause of death was listed as “atlanto occipital dislocation,” a “highly unstable craniocervical injury, resulting from damage to ligaments and/or the bony structures connecting the skull to the cervical spine.”
At the scene, investigators recovered a grille belonging to a 1985-1987 Chevrolet Astro Van believed to be white in color. The grille bore a single Jeff Gordon racing sticker. With the community's help, a breakthrough emerged; The van that the grille originated from was located in a salvage yard west of West Terre Haute.
However, a dead end arose as records revealed the van had been sold for scrap metal to the salvage yard nine months before the accident. This suggested the culprit likely purchased the grille as a replacement part for their own vehicle. Unfortunately the salvage yard had no record of the buyer.
Undeterred by the lack of leads, Ivan's sister, Cheryl Ann, remains determined to find her brother's killer. According to tips she has received, the van that struck Ivan contained two men and two women. She believes the van’s occupants may still reside in the West Terre Haute area.
During an interview with The Tribune Star newspaper, Cheryl Ann shared how deeply the tragic loss of her brother had impacted her life. She also expressed her hope that someone with information will finally come forward to help bring closure to her and her family. Until that day however, her pursuit of justice is unwavering.
Ivan was a graduate of Terre Haute North High School. He left behind four children, including a newborn daughter. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on cars, and fishing. Ivan also loved animals and traveling with his family.
Sadly Ivan’s case remains unsolved.
