Quick Flip Go Water Bottle in the Tigerlily color. This water bottle has become a staple in my daily routine. The first thing that caught my eye was its sleek design â perfect for carrying on the go. The double-wall vacuum insulation is a real game-changer. Whether I'm sipping on iced water in the summer or a hot cup of tea in the winter, the temperature remains consistent for hours. One feature I particularly appreciate is the trigger-action lid. It's easy to use and helps prevent spills, making it great for when I'm on the move. Plus, the fact that it's dishwasher safe is a lifesaver. No more scrubbing by hand! However, there are a couple of downsides. Firstly, the weight of the bottle can be a bit of a struggle for those who prefer a lighter option. Secondly, the dimensions might not fit all car cup holders, which can be a hassle during road trips. Overall, the Stanley Quick Flip Go Water Bottle has been a reliable companion in my everyday life. Its combination of style, functionality, and durability make it a must-have for anyone looking for a reliable water bottle. https://preview.redd.it/v48i5gn34r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64aac772c9910fa7f43dc2f916fb8b53b380e7fc I've been using the Cold Steel Heavy Duty Cane in my daily life, and it has proven to be quite the companion. The nylon handle provides an enhanced grip that makes it convenient to hold, while the steel construction ensures structural strength for long-term use. I particularly appreciate the rubber ferrule, which is designed to be slip-resistant, making it an excellent choice for uneven terrain or icy sidewalks. One downside is that it might be a bit heavy for some people, especially those who don't need the extra weight for support. However, the overall design and engineering of the cane are top-notch, and it gives me a sense of reassurance knowing I have a sturdy and reliable walking staff whenever I need it. https://preview.redd.it/onud1it34r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19aa78d8c58949aae696362f44a26b21b9da0dca This past summer, I found myself on a weekend camping trip and realized I didn't pack a shovel. I needed to dig a small trench around my campsite to divert water. Luckily, a friend had a Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel that he let me borrow. On the first day, he taught me how to use it. The edge was sharp, and the handle felt sturdy. I was surprised by how strong it was. I struggled a bit at first, but it didn't take long before I was able to dig the trench. After returning from the camping trip and reflecting on the weekend, I realized that the shovel had some flaws. Firstly, it was a bit heavy for a camping trip, and I felt it could cause strain on my back over time. Secondly, it didn't come with a sheath, which was inconvenient since I had to keep it in my vehicle's trunk, where it took up too much space. Despite these issues, I still appreciated the durability of the Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel. It was clear that it was designed for heavy-duty tasks. The edge remained sharp even after I used it heavily. The wooden handle felt comfortable to hold, even though it was a bit on the thick side. Overall, the Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel was a functional tool, but it could be improved for camping trips or situations where portability is a priority. https://preview.redd.it/duzypj644r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4feb4a7502a34a0974f6539f3524c5dc9b0652ab As someone who thoroughly enjoyed diving into the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and IV, let me share my experience with this dynamic duo. The deluxe edition for Playstation 5 was a refreshing return to the rich world of Erebonia, where war hero Rean Schwarzer began his new life as an instructor at Thors Military Academy's branch campus. What stood out to me was how the game expertly handled the aftermath of the Erebonian Civil War and introduced new threats to keep the story alive. Delving into it with the improved RPG gameplay on PlayStation 5 made my journey even more immersive. Plus, the cosmetic DLC available with these iterations ensured that every member of my party was looking their best, adding a unique touch to the experience. However, like any other game, it wasn't all smooth sailing. There were moments that were a bit challenging, but overall, the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and IV truly delivered an engaging experience that I thoroughly enjoyed as a fan of the genre. https://preview.redd.it/u3w4xrr44r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c04c7764c1fb93b8481b812e63772b4366bf500d As a home cook who's always experimenting with new recipes and kitchen tools, I've found myself in a bit of a pickle when it comes to removing stubborn grease from my appliances. That's why I was thrilled to try the Shumanit Cold Grease Remover. Right off the bat, I found it remarkable how quickly this cold grease remover works. No need for a heat source or any harsh chemicals. In fact, it's effective on all sorts of surfaces - my oven, pots, frying pans, baking trays, stainless steel dishes, cooking surfaces, steam extractors, and even hard-to-clean vents. I've had my fair share of leaky packages in the past, but the Shumanit Cold Grease Remover was surprisingly well-packed. It comes in a sturdy plastic bottle with a trigger spray that's easy to use. The product has a delightful citrus smell that lifts the spirits while I'm getting my hands dirty in the kitchen. Plus, the grease and grime just seem to vanish as if by magic. However, there's one small downside to my Shumanit experience. On one occasion, the package was partially leaking, which made me worry about the condition of the other products in the batch. I just hope it was a one-time issue and not a trend. To sum up, the Shumanit Cold Grease Remover is a truly versatile and effective grease and grime remover. It's a lifesaver for anyone who values a sparkling clean kitchen. Let's just hope the packaging improves in the future. https://preview.redd.it/94c0sq154r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e05bc9a8d38beb755f6ee94776ff2533d2ed8d3 The Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle is a versatile and durable companion for any outdoor excursion. It's been a part of my camping adventures for years, ensuring that my beverages stay the perfect temperature no matter the weather. The thick stainless steel walls not only keep my iced drinks cold for two days but also keep my hot beverages warm for up to two weeks. Plus, the leak-proof lid doubles as a cup, providing a convenient and easy-to-use option for sipping on the go. The 2.5-quart capacity is ideal for sharing drinks with friends or keeping a large quantity of your favorite beverage at the ready. I've washed my Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle in the dishwasher without any concerns about rust or BPA exposure, and it continues to perform as well as it did on day one. Overall, the Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle has become an essential part of my outdoor gear, and I can't imagine spending time in nature without it. https://preview.redd.it/hv1cfgh54r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92c3e83a1e6ed9bde65bd49c95962c0425bd9025 For my outdoor adventures, the Stanley Legendary Classic Bottle 1.5qt Habitat has truly been a game-changer. This insulated beverage container ensures my drinks remain at the perfect temperature for hours on end, whether I'm savoring a hot cup of coffee on a chilly morning or enjoying an icy beverage on a sweltering day. One of my favorite features is the stainless steel construction, which not only makes the bottle sturdy and durable but also ensures it's free of BPA, a nice touch for any health-conscious individual. The double-wall vacuum insulation, another key highlight, works wonders in keeping my beverages at their desired temperatures, even in extreme conditions. However, I found that the bottle can be quite difficult to clean, especially along the insulated areas. Additionally, the screw cap lid, while functional, can be a bit tricky to twist off after a while, depending on the grip strength. These minor inconveniences aside, the Stanley Legendary Classic Bottle has proven to be an indispensable companion on all my outdoor excursions. https://preview.redd.it/4ogfz5u54r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4866a573a4c06607a53a48abca3bb57ecd3aa95 Recently, I got my hands on the J-B Weld Original Cold-Weld Formula Steel Reinforced Epoxy. I was intrigued by the fact that it could serve as an inexpensive alternative to welding, soldering, and brazing. To my surprise, this versatile epoxy proved to be a game-changer in my daily life. One of the most impressive features of the J-B Weld epoxy is its water-resistant nature. I used it to seal a leak in my water pipe, and it worked like a charm. The epoxy's petroleum and chemical resistance made it perfect for my project, as it withstood various tests without any damage. Another standout feature of this product is its non-toxic and safe-to-use nature. I used it to fix my child's broken toy, and its safety made me feel more comfortable. However, I did notice that the mixing ratio of the epoxy is quite sensitive. One must be cautious not to deviate too far from the 1-1 ratio of liquid steel/epoxy resin and the hardener. A slight miscalculation could result in a weaker bond or the need for reapplication. In conclusion, the J-B Weld Original Cold-Weld Formula Steel Reinforced Epoxy is a must-have for DIY enthusiasts and professionals alike. Its ease of use, remarkable strength, and versatility make it a standout product in its category. Despite the minor drawback of the mixing ratio, the benefits far outweigh the inconvenience. https://preview.redd.it/hjiqws764r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=778b7036f610f7931a5d1bf47b1544b1da25f09e I recently put the Stanley Classic to the test on an outing to the mountains. This bottle is a true companion for outdoor enthusiasts, with its impressive 18/8 stainless steel construction and BPA-free design. The 1.5 quart capacity means it can handle all types of drinks, from hot coffee to icy coolers, and keep them at the optimal temperature for up to two days. The folding handle is a clever added feature that allows for easy carrying without the risk of it rolling away. One of the standout features of this bottle is its leakproof design, making it a reliable option for packing in a backpack or storing in a truck bed. The wide mouth also makes it easy to fill and clean, which is especially helpful for those who enjoy making their own homemade brews. However, I did notice that the bottle is quite heavy, weighing in at 2 pounds, making it more challenging to carry for longer periods of time. Overall, the Stanley Classic is an excellent investment for those who love spending time outdoors and need a reliable companion to keep their drinks at the perfect temperature. https://preview.redd.it/l5lg54i64r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e07172bcc88a069950d96dd4cfb862f209f40f40 I recently had the chance to put the Cooper Stainless Steel Water Bottle to the test, and I have to say, it impressed me with its performance. The most standout feature of this water bottle is its ability to keep drinks cold for an impressive amount of time. I often struggle to find a water bottle that can truly keep my beverage chilled all day long, but this one did just that. The double-walled and vacuum insulated design does an excellent job of maintaining the temperature of the liquid inside. Another feature I appreciated is the leak-proof lid. No matter how rough I was with it, it never leaked once. The one-touch silicone push button locking mechanism helped keep my bag and clothes dry, while the straw was a fun and convenient addition. Cleaning it was also a breeze, thanks to the top rack dishwasher safe lids and BPA-free materials. However, I did experience a downside with the product - it isn't suitable for hot beverages. If you're someone who prefers drinking tea or coffee, this may not be the best option for you. Additionally, I found it slightly difficult to fit the bottle in my usual cup holders, which can be inconvenient during travel or at the gym. Overall, the Cooper Stainless Steel Water Bottle did an incredible job of keeping my drinks cold and providing a leak-proof, easy-to-clean design. Although there were minor drawbacks, I still enjoyed its benefits and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and stylish water bottle. https://preview.redd.it/fva5u8074r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=021a8e122aa23b47e0dbf977a9a0b77939f8066e I recently had the chance to try out the Stanley 1.1 Qt. Classic Canteen, a 18/8 stainless steel bottle that promises to be leakproof, packable, and perfect for outdoor use. At first glance, the canteen looks sleek and sturdy, with a classic design that makes it easy to hold and carry around. It comes equipped with a removeable carrying strap that keeps your hands free and adds a touch of style to the canteen. One of the standout features of this canteen is its non-insulated stainless steel material, which allows for easy packing while still offering a decent capacity for your favorite beverage. However, I found that the lack of insulation means that the canteen doesn't retain temperature as well as I would have liked. While it's fine for day-to-day use, it's not ideal for taking on long hikes or camping trips where maintaining the temperature of your drink is important. Another downside to the canteen is the attached cap, which can be a bit tricky to open and close, especially with one hand. Though I appreciate the convenience of having it attached, it would be nice if the cap were more user-friendly and easy to access. Additionally, the metal clips on the carrying strap can be quite loud when walking or hiking, which can be a bit distracting and might not be the most discreet choice for stealthily navigating through the wilderness. Despite these minor drawbacks, overall I found the Stanley 1.1 Qt. Classic Canteen to be a functional and stylish option for everyday use. It's a good choice if you're looking for a versatile water bottle that won't break the bank, but just remember to manage your expectations when it comes to insulation and noise. https://preview.redd.it/g8jdgja74r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5900642083119fc5f56b1e9d8f8477efab04f303 The Corkcicle 32oz Sport Canteen boasts a spacious 950mL capacity, perfect for hydration while on the go. Its quick sip lid adds convenience to everyday use, and the signature flat sides and Duraprene finish ensure a secure grip. Triple-insulation maintains drinks at their desired temperature for extended periods, making it an ideal choice for both hot and chilled beverages alike. A wide mouth allows for ice cube insertion, while the lid's easy-to-use one-hand opening adds practicality. Regrettably, some users have experienced issues with the lid's functionality and structure, which may prove a disadvantage for those seeking a seamless drinking experience. Nonetheless, for those seeking a durable, stylish, and functional water bottle, the Corkcicle 32oz Sport Canteen offers an impressive range of features. https://preview.redd.it/ba7lnum74r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4236dde9fc2a1109edb6d8a02ff4d627c9fb186e This Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle, aptly named "Nightfall, " has become an essential companion in my daily life. The bottle's robustness and dependability have captivated me, as my newfound favorite keeps the brew piping hot during those frigid mornings or even chills your favorite beverage during scorching summer days. One of the key features that have blown my mind is its innovative, leak-proof design. By using the twist-and-pour stopper, it ensures that my adventures are safe from any accidental mishaps involving the bottle. Moreover, the slim design makes it the perfect single-handed companion, ensuring a comfortable grip. However, there are a couple of minor nits. The lid being insulated and doubling as a cup is a fantastic idea, but I found it a tad more tedious than convenient during my first few times. Additionally, while the bottle's sturdiness won my heart, it unfortunately lacks a wider mouth, which might make it a bit more practical for my soup-loving, chunky ingredients cravings. The Stanley's performance has made me believe it's not just about the product but also about the spirit of adventure it represents - one sip at a time. Despite a few minor quirks, it's a reliable bottle worth every penny spent. https://preview.redd.it/xxibmox74r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6584f5a3f92b026e1f6c93d8578b4827c47490b6 Crafted in the image of the infamous Darth Vader, this Corkcicle Star Wars canteen is not just a stylish way to keep your drinks cool. The 16-ounce canteen promises to keep beverages cold for up to 25 hours or warm for 12, all thanks to its triple-insulated lining. Its stainless steel construction ensures it's not just durable but also perfect to use in any setting, be it by the pool or at the office. The canteen is equipped with a screw-on cap that prevents any liquid from escaping and keeps the temperature consistent inside. The ergonomic design and flat sides make it easy to grip, and its stay-put silicone base ensures it stays securely in your hand, avoiding any spills. My experience with this canteen has been nothing but stellar. The Star Wars design is not just aesthetically pleasing but also adds a fun touch to my everyday life. The triple-insulation keeps my beverages at their desired temperature for longer, especially during our hot summers. The cap is a great feature that prevents leaks and spills, and the ergonomic design makes it comfortable to hold. However, I wish the product was dishwasher safe as the paint tends to peel off after a few uses, which can be a bit disappointing. https://preview.redd.it/v6nom9a84r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=47b008d8785f16fed2eb4304d81b2404921a0708 I recently tried the Step Steel St Goal Blacksteel CCM Replacement Steel - Pair, and I was blown away by its performance. The superior edge quality is evident as it slices through the ice with minimal resistance, providing sharp, fluid movements that make it a game-changer for any goalie. Designed specifically for CCM 2-Bolt Goalie Cowlings, this complete set comes with both left and right runners, ensuring perfect fit and seamless functionality. Made in Canada, the high-quality craftsmanship is evident in every aspect of the blade, from its sleek design to its exceptional edge durability. While the hardest possible edge offered by Step Steel Black is undoubtedly impressive, I also appreciate the added Diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating on the mirror side finish, which significantly boosts blade performance by generating a winning combination of low friction and high surface hardness. What sets Step Steel apart from other blade manufacturers is their innovative aspect ratio, which accelerates pushes across the crease for modern butterfly and hybrid goaltenders. The taller blades and truer profile offer added stability, precision, and width, ensuring less bending or improper sizing upon receiving the product. Overall, the Step Steel St Goal Blacksteel CCM Replacement Steel - Pair is a game-changing product that combines superior edge quality, innovative design, and unrivaled performance. If you're looking to enhance your goaltending experience, look no further than Step Steel. Buyer's Guide Welcome to our comprehensive guide on the Cold Steel Smatchet. But, granite can get stains because it is porous surface. So, it needs regular care and the right sealant to keep it looking good and protect it from moisture seeping into the countertop, shortening its life. Quartz Countertops Quartz countertops mix natural quartz and strong resin. This makes them last long and resist stains and water. They also handle sun well and come in many colors. Alright, letâs dive into the durable material â solid surface countertops, and why theyâre like the MVP of outdoor kitchens. - Stain Resistant: Solid surface countertops have a special ingredient, 100% aluminum hydroxide powder, which helps them stay clean.
- Hardness: Beyond their sleek look, theyâre tough. This strength comes from their high-performance resins, which make them durable and long-lasting.
- Anti-Yellowing: Solid surface countertops use isophthalic resin, which keeps them from yellowing, which means they can keep new for a long time.
- Stable Color: Speaking of looks, the color on these countertops stays vibrant. They use a top-notch imported color paste, ensuring the color doesnât just look good when new, but stays looking good.
- Non-Porous Design: Spills happen, especially in kitchens. But solid surface countertops donât soak up spills, thanks to their nonporous material. This makes cleaning up a breeze.
- Low Water Absorption: Solid surface countertops are made of 100% aluminum hydroxide. Itâs a very fine powder. It doesnât soak up much water.
- Fire-Resistant: The solid surface countertop is designed with fire safety in mind. It has achieved a B1 fire resistance rating, making it a safe choice for kitchens and other areas where heat is frequently used.
- Anti-Mold and Moisture: Solid surface countertop is engineered to resist moisture and mold, ensuring that it remains unaffected even in humid or wet conditions. This makes it an excellent choice for outdoor where water or moisture exposure is common.
What to Consider When Budgeting Solid Surface Countertops Planning a budget for home projects isnât always easy. You aim for the best but have to keep an eye on costs. When considering solid surface countertops, keep these points in mind: - Look and Style: How a countertop looks is often the first thing people see. Solid surface countertops offer a variety of designs and shades. While some options are cost-effective, others that mimic natural stone or have unique patterns may be pricier.
- Care and Upkeep: Remember, time spent on maintenance can also cost you. Solid surface countertops are usually easy to take care of. In the long run, a countertop that needs less care might save you more.
- Extra Costs: The price of the countertop material isnât the only thing to consider. Installation can add to the price, especially if you want a unique design. And if youâre thinking of adding special features, like sinks that are part of the countertop or unique edges, that will change the price too.
- Be Ready for the Unexpected: In any project, things can change. You might decide you want a different design at the last minute. Or maybe when theyâre installing the countertop, they run into a problem. Itâs always smart to have a bit of extra money set aside, just in case.
In short, when youâre budgeting for solid surface countertops, think about the style, how much care it needs, any extra costs, and always plan for surprises. For colder climates, opt for materials that wonât crack in low temperatures. | Usage | Determine the primary use of your outdoor kitchen. For heavy-duty cooking, youâll need a material that can withstand heat and is easy to clean. | Aesthetic Appeal | The countertop should match the overall design of your outdoor space. Whether you prefer a rustic or modern look, choose a material that complements your aesthetic. | Maintenance | Evaluate how much maintenance youâre willing to undertake. Some materials require regular sealing, while others are more set-it-and-forget-it. Low maintenance is an important factor. | Budget | Establish your budget beforehand. They can provide material samples and insights to help you make an informed decision. | Steps on Solid Surface Countertop Installation Putting on a new countertop may seem hard, but itâs doable with the right steps. Hereâs how to do it: - Measure Carefully: First, measure the space for the new countertop. Get the length, width, and depth right. Also, think about where sinks or appliances will go.
- Pick Your Material: Choose the color and style you want. Think about how strong it is, how easy to clean, and how it will look in your outdoor space.
- Get Ready: Remove old countertops and clear the space. Make sure the cabinets or base are strong and level.
- Make a Template: Grab your template and start cutting the countertop. Donât forget to leave some space for your sink or any appliances. And gear up with safety stuff, okay?
- Cut the Material: Want those edges to look fancy? Maybe rounded or beveled? Go for it! Itâll not only look cool but also help prevent chipping.
- Shape the Edges: Now, place that cut piece right on the base. Make sure itâs all level and stuff. Use some glue and clamps to keep it in place. Got a sink? Pop it in now.
- Join Pieces: If your countertop is like a jigsaw puzzle with more than one piece, youâll need to glue them together. Use matching color glue so that seam is hard to spot!
- Smooth It Out: Grab some sandpaper and start smoothing that surface. Start with the rough stuff and work your way down to the finer grit for that polished look.
- Clean and Shine: These countertops are low-maintenance, but hey, a little cleaning and polishing never hurt, right? Gives it that extra oomph!
So, there you have it! Youâre not just installing a countertop; youâre creating a masterpiece thatâs both good-looking and practical. How awesome is that? Useful Tips for Solid Surface Countertop Maintenance Got a shiny new countertop, huh? Looks fab! Now, letâs keep it that way. Here are the maintenance requirements: - Regular Maintenance: These countertops are a breeze to clean. Just grab a cloth and some mild soap. Got a stubborn stain? A gentle cleaner should do the trick.
- Stay Away from Strong Cleaners: Those strong chemical cleaners? Big no-no. They can dull the shine or even mess with the color.
- Be Careful with Heat: Sure, they can handle a bit of warmth, but donât push it. Always use something underneath those hot pots or pans.
- Fix Scratches: No biggie. A little fine sandpaper usually sorts out those minor scratches.
- No Need to Seal: No need to seal these countertops. But a little polish now and then? Makes âem pop and gives some extra protection.
- Protect in Bad Weather: If you live where the weather is often bad, think about covering your countertop when youâre not using it.
In short, if you take care of your countertop, it will stay nice and last long. And your outdoor kitchen will stay looking good. Successful Case Study of Solid Surface Countertops Solid surface countertops are durable and easy to clean. This kitchen case shows their beauty. 2024.05.21 02:30 Majin_Cakkes Rescued axolotl, enclosure advice?
| Hello all! New to the subreddit and hoping for some personal tips and pointers. I got back in to the planted aquarium hobby this year for the first time since being a teenager. As a now adult who embraces their AuDHD and has some expendable income Iâve had overall successful results and my 3 planted nanos and a planted betta sorority have hit equilibrium and become more or less low maintenance. So when a friend contacted me about one of their friends needing to reluctantly rehome their axolotl due to unexpected ongoing construction (discovery of mold problems has meant tearing up walls/floors in multiple rooms) I did some research and though I had been trying to keep my tanks small just in case we move houses in the next year I was confident enough I could add her to the mix without overextending myself. (And had intended for her to be set up at work because of that possibility but turns out once people SEE a 55gal tank they lose all confidence that our boss wonât notice and do no want it in our lobby đ) The original owner had her for 5 years and it sounds like she did a really good job with the care and husbandry but since rehoming wasnât ever the plan the tank kept getting half drained and moved and was left disheveled for too long while looking for the perfect new home. They told me she didnât have much interest in eating anymore, the plants were dying, it was clear they really cared and hated to see her to go but could tell she wasnât thriving in that situation. Sheâs now set up in the atrium-esque sunroom type deal in our very unique MCM home. She has really perked up! She gets the zoomies randomly and snaps pellets out of the water with amazing speed when she wants to. The room has skylights and during summer can get pretty bright direct light for a majority of the day so the first photos show my current solution to that with the faux âjungle canopyâ overhang for her, the shrimp tank to the left and crested gecko viv to the right. 55gal seems to be enough to keep the waters quite cool even as the room heats up but Iâve been monitoring that to see if I will eventually need to add fans. The rest of the photos are the progress shots leading back to day 1 and then the lovely Miss Sophia Maria Gonzalez De La CrĂşz herself. She came with soil substrate which we mostly kept for the sake of the beneficial bacteria, several pieces of driftwood, small rocks and half of a broken pot for a cave. I kept the driftwood and sheâs got her little pot she likes to stick her head in but sheâs so big thatâs all that fits. I added the plants which are all mostly water column feeders so as she âuprootsâ them kicking around itâs ok and I just put them back as I see the need. Iâd love to add more and really get a jungle going for her here if you all have any suggestions. I also dropped my white cloud mountain minnow school in there and she truly seems to enjoy just sitting there watching them, sheâs been on a pellet diet for a long time and doesnât seem interested in the fish as a food source so Iâll likely add more of them in the future. One upgrade I chose was to get a Fluval performance canister filter because I find that maintenance easier and am more likely to upkeep it that way. I used filter media from established tanks, a spray bar to minimize the flow which I do have turned down, and fake plants on the waterâs surface in front of them to further baffle/diffuse the flow. I want to make her a rock cave/hideout that is big enough to turn around in instead of just her piece of broken pot. Usually Iâd stack slate but she 13â long! So I got a bunch of Sculpy and am planning on making a single piece that looks like stacked rocks so thereâs no risk of sharp edges or her knocking things ovecrushing part of herself. She does definitely like to spy on us all the time especially with the dogs at eye level on the other side of her tank but I want her to have the option for total darkness if itâs too sunny outside or the lights are on in the hallway behind her tank (glass walls in the house. Like I said, very unique build) SO TL;DR - besides more plants for coverage and a nice hideout what would you add to this? Are there particular plants or features your axolotl has seemed to really enjoy that go beyond what Iâve read online about their basic care? Same for snacks/feeding. No animal I have besides my tree frogs eats a singular diet so Iâd love to supplement the pellets if I can. Do you tong/pipette feed your axolotl? She will take it from a pipette but unlike when she deftly snaps pellets that are free falling toward her she suddenly has no aim and itâs really difficult for us both đ though dropping pellets from above near her head seems to lead to a lot of uneaten food for me to remove. TIA for any suggestions! submitted by Majin_Cakkes to axolotls [link] [comments] |
2024.05.21 00:13 SlimeSpree HUGE Pilot Review (with pics!)
| I'm so excited to finally be reviewing Pilot! This is gonna be a long, info and image dense one! Lets go!... . Pilot Slimes, USA. Variety of sizes from 7/7.5/8oz costing between ÂŁ12-16. Fantastically designed waterproof labels. Some of the jars are PS which Iâm not a fan of as they canât be squeezed to aid in slime removal and itâs a nightmare, if not impossible, getting the labels off them even with the scotch tape method. They always come off PP pretty clean using this method. However, the textures that really need to be squeezed such as crunch bombs do come in PP jars. https://preview.redd.it/p98sicrz8n1d1.jpg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a517408c01976e714d1bbe3496463b423681cc0e I placed a couple of separate orders having circled back round after nabbing the ones I wanted most. It turned out to be unnecessary shopping from Pilot this manner! I really didnât know what to expect and whether things would sell out in a frenzy but that wasnât the case at all so you donât have to stress! It was a lovely surprise to get a super sweet email from Travis from Pilot asking me if I wished to combine orders. I really appreciate this level of customer service from a slime store as, I know it sounds silly, but I know what its like to be rammed with orders and emails after a product drop and don't want to further add to a team's stress by bothering them to dig out and combine my orders when it's my fault I shopped that way. Travis even wrote me a thank you note on the inside of the box flap so respect to Pilot for their absolutely stellar customer service! Inside the box was a fat baggie of Borax with a sticker, a beautifully professional, large sized care card. Everything was extremely well packaged and the slimes were combined individually with their add ins which I very much appreciated! They also very kindly sent me two medium sized complimentary slimes. I should state that I always put all my slimes in the fridge for 15 minutes prior to a review. I think that gives all slimes a fair and common starting point from which to judge them and takes back any stickiness in the event of hot weather. After reviewing, all my retained slimes are kept in a cooler at 10c/50f/degrees and 70% RH to ensure longevity and maintain them for future play. I will report back on their longevity in a few months time but I don't keep them all, only my favourites which I will be certain to want to play with again, with the rest given to friends. Most of the slimes were a tiny bit over-activated on arrival which is actually something I appreciate and see as conscientious by a slime company. It is something some of my favourite stores routinely do (such as Momo.) I donât add glycerine, I feel it makes them stay playable without the need for activator longer and allows them to melt down gradually on their own. I personally enjoy a bit of over-activation as it adds a slight crunch to some textures when you stretch them which I personally find satisfying. The down side is that cetain textures may be a little rippy but this was a minor issue with Pilot. - 1UP WIP (wip x clay, zooted at the carnival scented)
I thought the theme with just SO MUCH FUN! 𤊠The scent is gorgeous and just my jam, kind of like vanilla cream with wafts of cooking donuts. As I played, I start getting hints of mint and a notable suggestion of weed. Whether this was by design (considering the scent's name) or psychosomatic Iâm not sure but this is a very pleasant and multifaceted fragrance that tells a story in scent as you play and I really appreciated and enjoyed that! This is a puffy, stretchy, firm cloud creme, very slightly towards the doughy. Itâs holdable, jiggly and gives a hollow âtupâ when you give it a love tap when itâs fully inflated. It is very stretchy with clicks that get louder as it inflates and little crackles and pops. Lots of soft sizzles as you deflate. As mentioned above it was a little over-activated which made it rip just a little if I stretched too fast. I loved this theme so much. The label was beautiful and assembled it really entertained me! - CRUSHâS KUSH (seed bead crunch, eucalyptus and mint scented)
The scent is soft and slightly soapy/bubblebath leaning and pretty fresh. Stunning pigmented clear slime sits on top of a compacted biscuit of seed beads that feel incredible to crush through and combine. Once fully combined I don't find seed beads the most exciting by they do create a good froth up for some crackles and pops. This is perfectly activated and not in the least bit sticky. Very stretchy with just the right amount of resistance. I did have a little bit of fallout with the beads but nothing bad. Not in the least bit pokey and gave my hands a pleasant massage. https://preview.redd.it/08ol0tw1bn1d1.jpg?width=8712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d4ae5e069caf4fe95b85d652fb551288db1b37a - SCOOBY SNACKS (slay mallow chew, sour patch kids and hemp flower scented)
The first scent I was hit with was the sour patch kids with a subtle hint of weedy/fruity florals. This is a very dense and ultra chewy, somewhat chubby texture which is reminiscent of a butter and a snow creme but not quite a snow dough. Itâs very holdable with medium clicks and some very good bubble pops from the sharp to the loud and low. It is a little bit rippy as you stretch due to slight over activation and becomes fairly matte with play. This was a nice enough texture but one I feel Iâve been over-saturated with from multiple companies of late. https://preview.redd.it/f0aekg0abn1d1.jpg?width=8419&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3a9b619ba291e31325b21b956667cfd60f3d4ec - TOASTED (thick Korean clay butter, buttery baked bread and rosemary scented)
The scent is exquisite, exactly like a delicious, moist rosemary ciabatta. It made inviting little sizzles as I spread the sprinkles into place on its micro-bubble covered surface. This is extremely moist, plush and ultra stretchy and jiggly texture. The scent is just so pleasurable as you stretch and inflate it. This is a very slightly denser, more robust version of some of the Yyoung airy, inflatable slimes I got from Seoul Gage. Medium-loud clicks that increase in the volume and sharpness as it inflates and very soft pops. This is great for soft sizzles and micro pops as you deflate. This was a nice texture but I was really hoping to come across one which naild what I had in mind for the famous 'wip' texture and this wasn't quiiiiite it. I'd buy it again thought, it was nice and the scent incredible. https://preview.redd.it/9nforuxsbn1d1.jpg?width=5458&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=09f2e52d31f02be64e56d7565fa70ec45b58857e - BERRY HIGH (pigment putty, blueberry waffle cone)
I was getting an extremely mild berry scent with a whispering hint of biscuit. The base is a spectacular, deep pearlescent emerald green with flashes of violet. This was a beautifully activated putty with no stickiness at all. This is an extremely chewy, ultra thick clear with medium clicks, tons of crackles and snaps and tremendously loud bubble pops. It inflates like crazy and gave me some of the most dramatic air bubbles ever. It ended a pretty silver with a subtle cyan and green shimmer. This was fantastic! I never get bored of stunning pigments in clears and this was a top class slime in every way. https://preview.redd.it/lenr9jkbcn1d1.jpg?width=1395&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d88f39cecd22f284b463f0fc8d5d32fdc6069691 The bubble factor in this slime was pretty wild! - SEA CUCUMBER (bouncy coated cleaicee / cucumber melon scented)
A very fresh scent leaning more towards cucumber with a hint of melon. Another very beautiful slime with fresh colors to go with the fresh scent and theme. It combines to a very pretty, plush and chubby seafoam coloured jelly. It has medium loud clicks and plenty of loud snaps, crackles and pops. A little bit over activated and rippy again but Iâm OK with that, you may prefer to add a dot of glycerine depending on your personal preference. Iâm not a huge jelly fan but this was a very nicely made one. https://preview.redd.it/tcs6cfjmcn1d1.jpg?width=8896&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b7c30c182f78a75d106c6193a56de3459c5f549 - SOUR GRAPES (mini frogspawn & regular frogspawn, sour grape scented)
This comes in a squeezy PP pot, which is much appreciated in order to get it out with a few squeezes! This has a subtle, sour grapes/candy leaning scent. Frog spawn beads are my favourite type and the croaks these emitted were just perfect. I also love the popping colour scheme! This is a texture I mostly like to slowly push and squeeze to maximize the croaks and it works so well with the combo of beads. It has some nice crackles and little pops when you stretch it and fold it. The base is a thick, resistant and chewy putty and has no stickiness. This was the perfect frogspawn crunch bomb and I very much enjoyed it! I would 100% grab this texture again in a heartbeat! Ribbet! đ¸ 𫧠- SEABERRY DELIGHT (mini frogspawn, mini bubble bead, silica sand/ turquoise waters, hint of berry)
A Fresh, mild, beachy perfume upon opening. Itâs a shame itâs so difficult to capture the true color on camera as it has a gorgeous lilac shimmer which contrast so nicely with the turquoise. Unfortunately, as I played the scent took a turn and an almost fishy chemical smell came to light. There was a warning on the website that the beads can kick out a bit of a plastic smell and it was very strong and unpleasant to my nose. However, sounded amazing, extremely fizzy and crackly and absolutely exploded with small sharp pops when you inflate and squeeze it. What I find a shame is that it starts out looking so incredibly stunning ends up comparatively boring in aesthetic but that is just how it goes with particularly beautifully designed slime sometimes! Overall, this isnât a a particularly pokey texture BUTâŚ. The other day I seemingly upset someone who voiced their discontent after I noted and warned in a review that a slime had the potential to cut skin. Admittedly, the texture I am referencing was a far more notably rough one. However, I did find several pieces of silica in this slime that had the potential to be dangerous and this time I took photos to demonstrate this. This isnât the slime makerâs fault, it is unfortunately inevitable that some broken, sharp pieces will manifest when dealing with large batches of silica and you do have to be mindful as if you catch one wrong and you could scratch, nick or quite seriously pierce your skin. Once again this is NOT a direct criticism of Pilot seeing as this is common in any slime of this texture. If you buy silica slimes from ANY slime company I would recommend you have a careful look and feel through the slime prior to play to ensure there are no dangerous pieces, especially if you are going to hand it to a less experienced slimer or a child. I feel it would be wise for shops offering this texture to put a little warning on their website that sharp and broken pieces could be present and need to be checked for. Admittedly, this has put me off this texture across the board (apart from the Rodem ones which seem to include particularly well rounded, small and smooth pieces of silica.) This is one of the prettiest slimes I have ever seen first opened but I find it comparatively dull combined which is a shame! There were 5-10 extremely sharp silica pieces in my jar so PLEASE be careful with this texture from any company and remember that silica is a component of glass. This is not an issue unique to Pilot or a criticism of their rendition of this texture at all but I would be mindful that this can happen in any silica slime. (Please excuse the gross macro shot of my dry slime fingers đ) - PANNA COTTA (DIY clay, fluffy butter, jelly/ wild berry panna cotta scented)
A beautiful, fresh, creamy Panna cotta scent with notes of berries. The texture was plush, resistant and had a firm jiggle. It felt like it had snow in it and was dense and a bit towards the chubby, with a slight jelly feel. Very stretchy with some good pops in it, soft pokes and plenty of soft sizzles. https://preview.redd.it/pmmi7c9mfn1d1.jpg?width=1841&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44e28fa2351c427c90412b003651c000cbb1c10b - STRAWBERRY BLUES (fimo crunch, blue raspberry & strawberry soda scented)
A subtle berry scent which is quite pleasant. This slime has a beautiful lilac shimmer which is always hard to capture in full on camera. It was lovely in the hands, the fimos were soft/bendy and non-pokey. The base was ultra thick with lots of resistance and very well activated. It had some loud snaps and small sharp crackles and some pops to it. A very nice slime! https://preview.redd.it/yanplep8in1d1.jpg?width=1319&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7080ccfcd5ee730ceeb6f461809abccf32e9b604 - MAGIC MUSHROOM (bouncy coated clear, garden thyme scented)
While this is a perfume based scent, the thyme comes through and it is very beautiful indeed. Pilot have absolutely nailed the stunning pearlescent pigmented clear slimes, this is glorious to behold! Itâs a great clear to play with, as most of their clears are. Clicky and full of snaps and sharp pops. https://preview.redd.it/d773neupin1d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f09b1c28911baffee5edac8bd0d05ded194e3c4f - PURPLE HAZE (mini bubble bead crunch, lavender vetiver scented)
Carrying on with the purple theme, here we have another beauty. Again, the website did warn that the beads had a plastic scent and unfortunately they overwhelmed any scent that the slime may have had. I came back to it later and could detect wafts of lavender and vetiver but the horrible plastic smell overpowered them. I have had these caviar beads before from other companies and I really donât recall them ever smelling this bad. This is redeemed a little by how beautiful the purple balls look in this slime, it feels good in the hands is fun to stretch creating lots of decent bubble, pops and crackles. A few balls did fall out of this one but nothing bad. I am sad that such a lovely slime has this issue with the smell! đ https://preview.redd.it/qnrtsp4kjn1d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=afacfa05575a88eea067bd196f673065e4e0666e - CRUSHâS CUSH (base only) (coated clear, eucalyptus and mint scented)
The stoner sea turtle is back! This is such a pretty base I couldnât resist getting it on its own! This is such an incredible, ultra thick coated putty, full of crackles and pops and I really do love it. I know many folks find clear slime a little basic but I personally enjoy the feeling of no or few add ins and popping hella bubbles. I find the visual element very stimulating and enjoyable so love Pilotâs offerings on this front! They smash it with the incredible pigments! I personally think this is also prettier without the seed beads after play. - HONEYDEW MILK TEA (ultra thick x clear, honeydew milk tea scented)
A nice, fresh, slightly creamy melon scent. This is a lovely, thick, slightly glossy wood glue texture. Itâs slightly over-activated, giving a nice crunch when you pull but getting very chewy and stretchy as it warms up. Quiet finger pokes that get louder as it inflates. Medium volume pops and crackles and plenty of them. I very much enjoyed this texture along with its beautifully fresh scent and colour. https://preview.redd.it/rh01lf7skn1d1.jpg?width=5435&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=380bed34f14a9d730a9ea879435e231c39c0377c - LEMON MERINGUE (DIY clay/wip, lemon meringue scented)
I really did adore this scent, a very creamy and realistic, nostalgic lemon meringue. This was the best scent of the bunch in my personal opinion (with the rosemary bread of 'Toasted' being a close second.) I absolutely loved the combo of charms on this one, it was just so very pretty and charming. The whipped cream mini clays had dried out but this was warned on the website. This texture was quite wet and a bit greasy at first but this is typical of such textures and you have to keep the faith. The little clay whipped creams did not combine into the texture, but they will rehydrate and combine with a little time and rest. This is a GORGEOUS light, fluffy, moist and jiggly snow creme with nice, moist, clicky finger pokes. This is far closer to what I imagined when it came to Pilotâs famous âwipâ texture reminding me of a floofy, whipped honey butter sort of texture, I personally found it a preferable texture to 'Toasted.' It inflates loads and gets airier and fluffier as you play. It also has some great bubble pops. This was a fantastic slime and certainly the star of the show for me. I am now very keen to get my hands on more like this from Pilot. https://preview.redd.it/47dgps98ln1d1.jpg?width=5866&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51807f49cf16f0fee9d35f4ac66aa32cdeccd09d - Free slime: PIZZA PLANET (fluffy butter chew, pizza dough scented)
The scent is slightly savory, a tad yeasty and I had a hint of rosemary to it, I thought the whole concept was really cool and well done with the little baggie of (possibly corn flour?) that you rubbed on its surface. The whole theme, scent and colour of this dough had me, a whole ass adult, humming âThatâs AmorĂŠ and pretending to be a pizza chef! Haha! This was a moist, chewy butter that inflated plenty and gave lots of lovely soft sizzles and some medium pops. When the moooon hits your eyyye like a biiiig pizza piiiie....etc. đ The second free slime was an unnamed silica, seed bead and fish bowl crunch bomb which I am saving for a friend as itâs hard to review a no-name slime because I canât tell you guys what it is in order to enable you to buy it! CONCLUSION: Iâve heard people say they were underwhelmed with Pilot and I can understand where they are coming from. I believe that itâs because the extreme hype leads us to believe that some sort of new slime innovation is coming our way, just to discover that the textures are all particularly familiar to us and very common to many other slime companies. I didnât experience any textures that were new, unusual or particularly nuanced and sophisticated although I thought the lemon meringue was one of the nicest of that particular texture (and combined scent) I have experienced of late. In my opinion, the manner in which Pilot shines and DOES deserve hype arises from the fact they are all VERY well done, extremely professionally made slimes. Nothing was sticky, I feel the slight over-activation is a professionally conscientious move, there was no mess or spillage on the containers, the labels were absolutely beautiful, the packaging and care card lovely and the themes all absolutely fantastic. I found a small percentage of the scents to be excellent and the others somewhat faint/underwhelming and, in light of the plastic beads, some very unpleasant unfortunately. The overall impression I got from Pilot was a very polished and professional one and I personally very much enjoyed my order and will retain with enthusiasm. However, my future purchases from them (because there will be future purchases, they won me round) will be more targeted and far more modest. I would certainly be interested in more light wips, frogspawn crunch bombs and pigmented clears. The caviar and seed beads lost me and I just give up on silica at this point (apart from Rodem's) Iâm afraid. The denser snow cremes didnât really capture me and the scents are definitely something I will be a little more considered over when I shop in future. I thought they nailed the sweet/creamy/bread scents, they may be my preference scent-wise but they are not always done well. All in all I feel that Pilot are worthy of a solid 9.5/10 submitted by SlimeSpree to Slime [link] [comments] |
2024.05.20 23:43 XCanuck My marriage feels strained and very one-sided, unsure how to cope with a wife who won't communicate or share responsibilities
There's a "dad joke" I heard that goes: My therapist told me to write out a big long rant letter to everyone I have a problem with, burn them all to ashes, and scatter the ashes into the wind. I did all that last weekend, but now I'm not sure what to do with the letters.
This post feels like that big, long rant, but I genuinely could really use some help/ideas beyond "go to marriage counseling." I provide so much to the family and household that isn't reciprocated, but trying to set boundaries to feel more balanced gets passive-aggressive and/or silent treatment. I'm not writing all this here just to vent, I've actually edited this down pretty significantly to summarize what I'm going through and giving some examples.
Thanks for giving me the space to share this.
Me (50/M), Wife (45/F), two kids 15 and 13. We have no family who live anywhere close to us. We're in the middle of America, her divorced parents are on the coast, and mine's in Canada where I'm originally from (in case my username didn't give that away).
TLDR at the bottom.
Trigger warnings: a ruined birthday, shared/not-shared finances, me losing my cool and walking out on my family and getting the silent treatment since, and apparently being the only parent/grown-up in the house.
To this family, I feel that all I am to them is the income/paycheck and personal chef, and I'm ready to walk away. My wife won't communicate, gets defensive and angry, and doesn't contribute to the marriage or teach our kids about responsibility, so I look like a jerk all the time. If I speak up and ask her to help, I'm treated like a jerk. If I don't speak up, she does nothing.
Background about physicality, work and finances
I work in tech, typically 50-70 hours per week, and take on occasional (< 5 hrs/week) contract work as a side business to pay for my 3D printing hobby that I'm also trying to turn into a side business. She works part-time maybe one full day of work throughout the week on an as-needed basis.
My job pays the benefits, and I've established a retirement fund for us, plus a 401K and Roth IRA, plus a 529 account for each of the kids that I've been investing in since they were born. I paid off both cars. We're debt-free except for our mortgage, and we have enough assets to pay off the house if we choose to.
We each have a bank account for ourselves, plus a joint bank account. Her part-time paychecks and other money from an inheritance, goes 100% into her account only, and I use my account for my 3D printing business to maintain an LLC. Just about everything financial is paid for from my paychecks. I've always treated this as "our" money. All bills, mortgage, memberships, subscriptions (Netflix, etc), things the kids need (clothing, shoes, school supplies, etc), furniture, medical bills, etc are all paid from a joint account that is funded 100% by my paycheck. She makes no contributions to this account, but she does withdraw from it for fast food, snacks she buys just for herself, her own crafting hobbies, and she'll pick up maybe $100/month for some groceries.
I promised her before we were even married that if she wanted to be a stay-at-home mom or, at any point, go back to work, she'd have my full support either way, and I've kept that promise. She worked full-time for about 2 years before we had kids and worked a fair bit of part-time work before the kids started school in 2013. She's been at her part-time job for 2 years, so quite a span where she didn't work at all.
She works as a 1099 contractor and, despite repeatedly being asked to, won't reserve money for tax time. So, not only does she spend 100% of her paycheck, but I have to be sure that we save enough to cover her tax bill every year. She's never offered to contribute to tax payments we have to make.
I had gallbladder surgery and bariatric surgery, so I've had pretty restrictive dietary needs for the past 5-6 years. She often made comments about me being heavy and having a shortened life span, but since my bariatric surgery, she's expressed resentment about my body changing (I lost 120+lbs) and now doesn't care to learn what kinds of protein/carb/fat balance I need, and gained about 80lbs herself. As such, she does not contribute to any meal planning, which means I'm doing 95% of all meal planning, groceries, and cooking.
When it comes to cooking, I'm a damn good cook, and it's 100% because of YouTube. She grew up in an environment where she wasn't encouraged to cook or even learn to, so she lived on PBJ through college until we started dating and I would cook or take her out. When the kids were in their "picky" stages of 4yrs-9yrs of age, she got frustrated with cooking but years later still holds to that "NOBODY likes what I cook". So she makes maybe 2 or 3 meals per month now, and it's always the same meals. Last night, she cooked 10 people's worth of macaroni with a single pound of ground beef and more than a pound of cheese. I had to pick out the meat to get my protein and then drink a protein shake afterward, and then got offended that I threw away the noodles/cheese. (My diet needs high protein, low carbs, and almost no fat, she knows this because I tell her quite often, but she won't do anything about it; she's bought maybe 3 shelves worth of cookbooks and won't even open them or go take a class or anything.)
Our oldest kid has shown an interest in cooking and will maybe cook one meal per week and ask me to help him out, so I share what I've learned, things I've tried, experimented with, lessons learned, etc., and we have a good time, and they really appreciate the learning opportunity. On the rare occasion I do see my wife making dinner in the kitchen, I show her that I'm really happy about what she's making and ask if she wants help chopping or anything and I only get "no" as an answer and completely shut down like I'm not supposed to be in the kitchen. I'll try to have conversation with her but then she can't concentrate on cooking, chopping, etc, and then "ruined" dinner is my fault.
"Her" money versus "our" money, and how we spend our days/weekends
My wife had a relative die quite a few years ago and in the fall of 2018 was given a $250k inheritance. She has always referred to this as "her" money, "her" retirement, in case "she" needs a nursing home later. I'm not in her future plans, apparently. She gave $50k of it to a cousin who was deliberately left out of that relative's will. My wife's will leaves any remaining inheritance money to the kids. No mention of me anywhere whatsoever.
Once the inheritance money hit her bank account, she decides to buy a horse from halfway across the country and put it in a boarding stable 20 minutes from the house. It was a childhood dream of hers. Apparently, she's allowed to pursue her dreams and interests, it's "her" money, I'm not allowed to tell her what to do with it, but she complains when my 3D printing business makes enough money to buy another printer to keep up with demand... And my hobby takes up less time per week than she spends at the barn.
When she's not working her one-day-a-week job, she's at the boarding stable for a few hours per day, playing with her horse, taking selfies, taking him on walks, not actually riding him. With her remaining time at home, and when she gets home with the kids, she's lying on the couch, acting worn out and tired like she just bench-pressed the friggin' horse. (And yes, I know horse training CAN be exhausting, but she's not doing anything exhausting with him. She literally walks him on a path, or walks him in circles in an arena enclosure, or she's brushing him down and bathing him to look nice for Instagram)
In the summer of 2018, right before she got this inheritance money, she spent $50k of "our" money on a kitchen renovation that she insisted she designs herself, and then felt guilty about the bill and me having to take on more side contracting work to pay off the HELOC in a reasonable amount of time, and contributed back $10k to the whole project from "her" money afterward. "Her" money paid for the kids' orthodontics, about $3k each. But she literally contributes NOTHING else financially to the family.
If I had to guess, she's got about $150k left of that inheritance money, maybe less, she won't ever tell me about it. And we don't get a notice from the bank about interest gained at tax time every year because she put it in an account that makes ZERO interest. She sees my investments with 25%-40% gains, but won't ever ask for my help or input. Instead, she asked 3 other guys at work who told her to at least get a Vanguard account, but almost 6 years later she's never done it.
I work full-time as mentioned, and work from home. Work is typically 50+ hours per week but I try to cap it at 60-ish if I can. For the past month I've been on a project with a tight deadline, and working more like 10-14 hours per day 6 days per week. It's like that in tech, she's been understanding of this in the past, and I'm sure to take jobs where this is NOT the norm. Still, I'm always happy to help drive the kids to/from school or to music lessons or doctors, but I'm usually treated like "how dare you," that's "her" job, like that's her contribution to everything.
She works a part-time job doing marketing. Maybe 2-3 hours a day, one or two days per week. Sometimes busier in Q1 as they prep/plan most of the year, but then very low-lift afterward. She spends maybe 40 minutes per day taking the kids to/from school. Other than that, she's at the barn or on the couch. (have I mentioned we've gone through several couches that "our" money pays for??)
The marital imbalance I'm dealing with
She won't enforce chores for the kids, remind them to do laundry, or clean their rooms, or even shower. She'll text me "one of the boys smells" after taking them to school, but won't insist they shower, or back me up on the whole "c'mon guys, brush twice a day at least, and shower at least every 2 days with actual some soap on your bodies and actual shampoo on your hair, and use deodorant..." She'll make remarks like "Didn't you wear and sleep in those clothes for the past 3 days?" but won't make them change, or tell them to do their laundry.
She might do dishes 2 to 3 times per month, it's normally a chore we give to the kids, but she never enforces it. If they stack up for 3 days she'll do some of them but not all of them. One kid was born on an odd-numbered day, the other on an even-numbered day, so the rule is if today is an even or odd day, we know whose turn it is to do the dishes. And if the month has an odd number of days, I do the dishes on the 31st/29th day. But they're teenagers, they'd rather be in their rooms being teenagers, so I have to constantly remind them. Neither of them checks that the dishes are even clean before putting them away, something she specifically called out being embarrassed about when we were dating and visiting her mom's house where half of the dishes in the cupboard still had dried food all over them.
And then garbage day, or yard work, or vacuuming, cleaning a bathroom, cleaning their room, shoveling snow. She doesn't help enforce ANY of the chores that we agreed on. So I'm the sole disciplinarian around here, which makes the kids grow up thinking they better avoid me or I'm the jerk who's gonna put them to work.
Nothing happens around here unless I ask the rest of the family. I've purposefully left chores undone for "that's almost a health hazard" amounts of time and still nobody takes the initiative, nor will she ask the kids to help. They all see the work needs to be done, but they won't choose to help, and they're probably learning from her example of just sitting in some other room/area of the house and someone else will do it someday.
Even asking them "what kind of meals do you want this week, what haven't we had in a while, what's your favorite meal," you'd swear I was asking them to cure cancer every Saturday so I could start to plan meals for the following week and get groceries on Sunday, which has been our routine since the kids could talk.
Their cop-out is to skip the 3 shelves of cookbooks and flip through a binder we kept from a few months of Hello Fresh meals but then it's the same 10-12 meals that get kinda old after a while.
I feel like I have no help from anyone.
I reached my tipping point, and recently walked out on my family
A little over three weeks ago, I'm on this tight deadline at work, getting maybe 3-4 hours of sleep at night, pulling 10-14 hour days. It's a Wednesday, I remember about 430pm that I should commit my code, as I usually do 'cause I need to make dinner because nobody else is gonna do it. Oh, wait, tonight was grilled cheese and tomato soup -- literally, ANYONE ELSE in the house, including our 13yr old who has never shown any interest in cooking, could heat a can of soup and melt cheese between bread, right??? Surely SOMOENE else in the family will handle dinner, so I keep working (note, without asking anyone else to help with dinner), hoping someone else will handle the meal. (and yes, I know this is typically against my diet, but I indulge in this low-protein, high-carb, higher-fat meal about once a month.)
At 730pm my wife comes STOMPING into my office area, "I can't make the grilled cheese like you do." No politeness, just turns and stomps back to the kitchen. I follow her to the kitchen, where the tomato soup is on a RAPID boil, yet she hasn't even started making the grilled cheese sandwiches. I turn the soup off, take it off the burner, and start to describe what to do for the grilled cheese. It's honestly nothing special; I put shredded cheese in the pan to get crusty on the outside of the bread, then stack up the the grilled cheese, put break on top, let the inner cheese melt, and flip it onto more shredded cheese. Highly recommended.
She says "Oh" and ... LEAVES THE KITCHEN, leaving me there expecting me to make dinner... and I'm pissed. I should have just gone back to my work area, but she parks herself back on the couch.
I get everything made, and of course nobody sets the table, ever. Now I'm seriously pissed off, so I slam some dishes in the middle of the table and go back into the kitchen to get the pot of soup and plate of sandwiches. I get back to the dinner table, where my wife and youngest are just standing there, STILL not setting the table despite me standing there with food that I can't even put down. So I drop the food on the table wherever I can, soup splashes everywhere, and I start setting the table while they stand there and watch and ... I lost my cool. I flung bowls and spoons in the general area where they're supposed to be at the table, and I walked out of the house. I returned 4 or 5 hours later once they were all in bed.
The ONE meal in my busy schedule that ANY of them could have made, and her contribution was putting a can of soup in a pot.
She still didn't make any meals for the rest of the week. That Sunday she put a meal plan together for the whole following week. Again, all super carb-heavy when she knows my own diet can't handle that. And then she stopped planning ANYTHING ELSE SINCE THEN. The following week's "meal plan" was just a list of who was home on which night because of end-of-school-year events going on. No meals, no grocery list. Meanwhile I'm still on my deadline... Last week, no help at all. This week, zero help.
So this week's meal plan I finally set a boundary for myself that was VERY clear to them: I'm planning to cook 3 meals for the whole week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and left the rest open with no meal planned. Last night at 6pm she made her "hamburger helper" and plans "ramen" for tomorrow (again, all noodles and broth, very little protein), but no other help from her for the rest of the meal plan for the remainder of the week.
My recently ruined 50th birthday
My birthday was a little over a week ago. I turned 50. Send me your favorite dad jokes, please, I beg of you.
My wife asked me 2 or 3 months ago if I wanted any kind of party, etc. to which I said yeah, I'd love to have a few friends over, named several of them, all of whom she either has in her phone, or are guys married to women that I know she stays in regular contact with. I mentioned some all-you-can-eat places that we could go, just the 4 of us, where I could pick out good proteins etc. and they could eat whatever they wanted.
I got nothing. No dinner out. No party. No friends.
The night before my birthday, she was too lazy to get off the couch, so I went to bed alone. I woke up in bed alone. I told the family the day before that I wanted French Toast for breakfast, normally something we'd do on Christmas Day, but it was my 50th birthday gosh darn it, and I was even thawing bacon. I even bought all the groceries needed. Nope, had to cook that alone too, so I only made enough for me, and ate alone. Showered alone, 'cause we haven't been intimate in ... 3 months? 4 months? And who cares that it's my birthday.
Nobody asked if I wanted to go out anywhere, go see a movie, go for a hike with the dog, nothing. So I went out with the dog, alone.
That night I had to make dinner for the family, again, on my own friggin' birthday. Alone in the kitchen. AND I had to remind the kids to clean up the kitchen afterward 'cause they won't do it unless they're told. She bought tiny pieces of cheesecake for dessert, which she knows I don't like and can't eat because of my diet. I had one tiny piece, she and the kids ate the rest.
No cake, no candle, no balloons. It was my FIFTIETH birthday ...
We have some serious communication breakdown going on
Since I walked out of the house a few weeks back, she only talks to me when she wants something, and that comes across more as a demand, "I need you to pick the kids up from school, I have to be at work" and walks away She won't say good morning or even hi, unless I say it first. Lately, I say "hi" or "hey" as we're passing in the house and I get no response at all. I get literal one-word responses when I ask her a question. A few nights ago, several nights in a row, I'm in the living room on my laptop trying to get more work done, she'll come in the room, not ask me what I'm doing or if I'm working, and blast a TV show on her phone at near-maximum volume, and fall asleep on the couch.
She gets mad and offended any time I offer constructive criticism of any kind. And it doesn't matter how delicately I try to phrase things, I'll agonize for days over exactly which words to use, she'll get super defensive, angry and lash out, and give me the silent treatment for weeks.
Last Tuesday was an end-of-year awards show for our youngest, who's finishing 8th grade. He's really into music and he stayed after school to practice for the event. She comes home to get ready then decides to leave for the event by herself. I only noticed when the garage opened and closed. She doesn't say anything to me or our oldest kid about what time she wanted to leave or if we're ready to go, she just ... left. Well of COURSE we both want to go, but now we have to drive there separately. And he wins a TON of awards, one from his classmates, one from his teacher, and one from the school. I'd have been PISSED to have missed that. "Oh, I thought you didn't want to go..." was her reason later.
This past Saturday, I do ALL the yardwork 'cause she won't tell the kids to help and I'm frankly tired of having to ask for help. A few hours of yard work later, I tell my youngest to vacuum 'cause nobody vacuums around here unless I tell them to and honestly it's gross. I hop in the shower to clean up and cool down from the yard work. Youngest decides it's "too hot in the house" and sits in the kitchen to eat a popsicle instead of vacuuming. No backup from my wife at all on this, who's still parked on the couch. So I get upset with him, he does a half-assed job, says he's "tired' (from watching YouTube all day) and goes back to his room and we don't see him again the rest of the day. Again, no help or backup from my wife.
It's now 7pm in the house Saturday night, and -- shocker -- NOBODY has bothered to even ASK about dinner much less put any kind of food together. 8pm rolls around and my oldest finally emerges from his own room, starts thawing some chicken, and comes to ask me for help to make a meal, which I happily do. Until I get grumbly comments about "why are we eating so late." And my wife makes her way back to the couch. Not so much as a "thanks for cooking" or offer to clean up. And of COURSE nobody is doing the dishes, because DAD didn't remind anyone.
WHAT DO I DO??
19 years ago when we got married, this felt like a marriage. We did stuff together, we split things evenly, shared responsibility and chores, we both cooked, we bought groceries together. The first few years with kids were rough, but it at least FELT like a partnership once we figured out how to be parents. But something has shifted over the past decade, and this feels less and less like a partnership, much less feeling like a marriage. This whole relationship feels very one-sided, I get no appreciation for any of my constant hard work and being a provider. Instead, she's accused me, twice, of having an affair, once to the point of giving me anxiety/panic attacks for which I was almost hospitalized.
Now, she and the kids are noticing and talking behind my back (like I can't hear them) about the fact that I'm not wearing my wedding band anymore. Of course, the kids won't ask me directly, and I'm not bringing it up myself, and my wife's not talking to me anyway. Maybe she's still mad that I got mad a few weeks ago and walked out? Hard to know when the person won't talk to you unless they want something from you.
I'll put the damn ring back on when it feels like a marriage again. But then the next time it comes off, I think it'll stay off.
TL;DR! To this family, I feel that all I am to them is the income/paycheck and personal chef, and I'm ready to walk away. I can see why parents stay together "for the kids." As with most marriages, it started great; we've had bumpy times, but we always got through it together. Nothing like this, though. My wife won't communicate, gets defensive and angry, and doesn't contribute to the marriage or teach our kids about responsibility, so I look like a jerk all the time. Something has shifted over the past decade, and this feels less and less like a partnership. This whole relationship feels very one-sided, I get no appreciation for any of my constant hard work and being a provider.

May 12th Post by: ApprehensiveMilk3324 Post Title: Job body text: I started a new Job a couple months ago and I know the pens we used to use had out logo on them. They were cute and a specific design. Just last night, I saw they are completely different. I asked around and I'm told the restaurant stopped using the logo pens several years ago. Had anyone else experienced this on such a micro level??? My comments continued; Iâm new to Retconned but Iâve been told, from those whoâve been here for years, theyâve never seen such a large Shift-consensus in many years. I would now like to answer some key-questions, I feel are on the minds of many who are reading this; - How did I forecast a SHIFT in the first place?
- Why was it validated by such a large consensus?
To answer the first question: I Posted âShift Theory â First Testâ because it was an actual 1st text. Meaning, I did not test it myself privately to confirm my own theory. Thatâs because I; (A) I wanted to include the Community in an Historical-First in ME-Phenomenon history. (B) I was 100% confident of its accuracy. My high-confidence level was based on my 18-years experience of delving into Godly Secrets/Mysteries. I perform the research-work to decipher what Iâm interested in, I pray to the Almighty multiple-times a day for the insight and wisdom required to find what Iâm looking for and in RESPONSE to my efforts and prayers he puts me on the right-path and enlightens me to its answer. This coupled with my 100% Belief and Trust in HIM, enabled me to open the veil of the SHIFT mystery. In other words, my understanding of the SHIFT-schedule DID NOT originate from me. If you desire to thank me for my âresearch effortsâ that would be welcomed encouragement. However, thanking me âfor finding it,â is a Thank you only for our Creator. The more of you who Thank HIM directly, the more inclined will HE be to unveil more ME-understandings. To answer the 2nd question: **âWhy was the SHIFT validated by such a large consensus?â Iâve became aware of my ME-status for about 3.5 months now. I was able to track its beginning to early last October. I understand for many of you, the confusions and stresses of your ME- experience, have been going on for many years and in some cases, brought a number of you to embrace some rather dark, frightening conclusions behind it. For those of you who feel this way, please understand the following; The perplexing impression of this phenomenon exists only in its external-appearance. Its outward veil is enigmatic but internally its rooted with absolute precision, void of any randomness, errors or flaws. Its operation is entirely Rational in both function and purpose and it follows the Rules the Almighty created it to follow in perfect detail. Itâs exactly because of this flawless precision, its Shift-window can be so accurately forecasted. Your Creator arranged the large Shift-consensus to highlight a SHIFT has indeed been forecasted accurately. So you understand that HE and no one else, Created this Phenomenon and HE and no one else Controls it. Understand, it is HE whoâs taken you by the hand and walked you out from SHIFT-Darkness. To encourage you to reconsider any and all alternate and dark-conclusions of who or what else is working it. That you should accredit the SHIFT-revelation to the Almighty-HIMSELF and nothing else. Youâre aware the ME-Affected population is in the tens-of-millions and youâre aware, with the exception of a tiny-percentage (ourselves), they live their lives entirely in ignorance of whatâs happened to them. They insist on remaining this way, despite all our efforts to awaken them and therefore remain oblivious to the most incredible phenomenon in human history. Would any of us want to be one of them? Your âconscious ME-awarenessâ is NOT a bad thing, its a Blessing, a Rare-Gift. A Gift HE gave you in response to a MERIT you achieved, in either your present lifetime or a previous lifetime. A Gift giving you a front-row seat to observe HIS Power, Controlling the universe. HE made you unique in the world with a perception like none-other. A message for others is; please reconsider your doubts of your own Realness. Rather, be assured youâre 100% REAL, your mind is Real, your body is Real and your Soul is Real. Your Creator DOES NOT create fake things and while no one can be at the level of Realness HE is, your Realness is nonetheless absolute. The day will come when all will be revealed and HIS reason for our World-Shifting will become known and the rationality behind it will make perfect-sense. TRUST in HIM, that what is happening is necessary and for a very positive reason and that everything HE does is for our good. Thereâs many more mysteries within this phenomenon to unveil, more areas of darkness HEâS waiting to remove. Your participation in the new Surveys, I have coming up, will hasten these unveilings. The more understandings we gain, the more Spiritually-Mature we become, the more HE will be inclined to Reveal! The more you open your heart up to HIM, the more HE will open-up to you. One last point Iâd like to make: Upon confirming the predicted SHIFT-window, I could very easily have written this Post ignoring the Almighty and taking full credit myself. âLook what I did for you!, See how smart I am!, No oneâs ever done this before, only me!.â I could have said such things or implied such things, adding more and more arrogant-nonsense into in the world, as if it needs more than it already has. As much as I Trust HIM, measure for measure, HE Trusts me; to withhold such egotistical assertions and speak only the Truth of the matter. If youTrust in HIM, Trust that ONLY HE Controls this phenomenon, Trust in HIM thatâs its All for the good: then may he ease the tensions of your day-to-day lives and enhance your livelihoods and happiness > more and more and more! ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: COMING UP: In about a week, I will Post the next upcoming SHIFT-dates and Iâll include further revelations of the âmechanics of Shifting.â Then I will Post the new Surveys. The goal of the Surveys is to create broad-stroke profiles of our Sagittarius Home-worlds, that will eventually funnel into identifying exactly how many Parallel Earths we come from. The value of this information can open up entirely new depths of understanding within the phenomenon. I will present these Surveys as FUN & Creatively as possible. I Hope all of you participate! Regarding the Follow feature: Recently Iâve been encouraging people to Follow me. I do this because Iâve experienced putting up Posts and the âNow in Retconnedâ Notice not always working. I was informed the best way around this is to develop a Follow-list. Thank you everyone! submitted by OmegaMan256 to Retconned [link] [comments] |
2024.05.20 21:19 WatercoolerComedian People just straight up do not respect the sleep schedule of someone on 3rd
I've been doing 3rd for like 7+ years and I'm telling you the worst part is nobody respects your schedule at all, the worst is when people try to make you feel bad for not getting up during the day to do things and constantly getting interrupted during your 8 hours, reaching R.E.M sleep is like impossible on third it would be the equivalent of someone coming to you at 12-1am and saying "hey you've been asleep long enough" it's super frustrating. Every girlfriend I've had or whatever is cool with it until a few months pass then it's like "you're always tired all the time" or "all you do is sleep" like yes! I do sleep during the time in which I am supposed to be asleep! And I do it, I know yall do it too where you like get 4 hours of sleep or whatever drink a pot of coffee and raw dog it like that's at least once a week for most of us but damn people just can't like not call you during the day or text you and get annoyed you don't pick up, it sucks man, like I totally get if for example like there's emergency vehicles going by or if you're in an apartment and gotta have something fixed they gotta do it during the day or whatever but it really sucks when friends and family get annoyed with you for trying to get your 8 hours

2024.05.20 21:04 rosedcrowe Mac n Cheese bites recipe!!
Edit: Completely forgot to mention that this is based on the Mac n cheese bites in campus 2, at the ball. My bad!
Edit 2: Reddit wonât let me reply for some reason đĽ˛
DO NOT USE THIS RECIPE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A NON-WATER FIRE STOPPER!
- Cook Mac n cheese (1-2 boxes)
- Cool Mac n cheese for a few hours or overnight, then roll
- Get panko bread crumbs or blend 3-5 bread slices on pulse until slightly clumpy
- 3 eggs, whisk
- Dip cooled Mac n cheese rolls into egg, then into bread crumbs (use more cheese if not sticky)
Danger Part!!! Have fire extinguishers/fire blankets ready, water wonât work if something goes wrong!! - Put cool oil in a pot, make sure itâs about 1-2 inches high
- Heat oil to 350 Fahrenheit minimum
- Using a large cooking spoon (preferably high-quality + not plastic) to dip your Mac n cheese rolls into the oil (PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE ELSE AT HOME WHILE YOU DO THIS! Make sure you have a non-water fire extinguisher!!)
- Wait about half a minute on each side of the roll
- Put on a nearby plate and wait to cool!
(If you have an air frier, just drizzle some oil on the top and fry them, much less danger + less oil waste)

2024.05.20 15:01 aznpersuazion Why Vancouver has THE BEST FOOD IN NORTH AMERICA
Alright, buckle up because we're diving into why Vancouver's food scene is straight-up legendary. Forget the regular city vibes; Vancouver is a melting pot of flavors, a culinary carnival that beats anything else in North America. Join me on this personal quest to unravel why the combo of Asian influence, Pacific Northwest goodness, and chill dining vibes makes Vancouver the top pick for foodies.
Asian Culinary Delights: Tradition and Creativity Unleashed Vancouver's streets resonate with the aromas of traditional Asian dishes, prepared with a touch of authenticity that transports you across borders. Picture slurping savory ramen in Chinatown or savoring hand-pulled noodles in a cozy corner of East Van. But what makes Vancouver's Asian food scene truly exceptional is its fusion of tradition with modern creativity.
In this city, innovation meets tradition on a plate. Take, for instance, squid ink brioche with sea urchin pâtĂŠ â a daring yet harmonious blend of flavors that pushes the boundaries of culinary expectations. Vancouver's chefs are culinary artists, creating dishes that not only pay homage to traditional recipes but also elevate them into extraordinary, palate-pleasing experiences.
And let's not forget the matcha mochi croissants that have taken the city by storm. A fusion of Japanese mochi and French croissants, these delectable pastries are a testament to Vancouver's culinary diversity. Each bite is a dance of textures and tastes, showcasing the city's flair for seamlessly blending cultures and cuisines.
Pacific Northwest's Grocery List: Seafood Galore and More Living next to the Pacific Ocean is like having a seafood aisle in your backyard. Fresh salmon, sweet Dungeness crab, and chubby spot prawns â Vancouver's seafood game is on point. And let's not forget the local veggies and meats, straight from the region's green landscapes. It's like natureâs way of saying, "Hey, enjoy the good stuff!"
Nature Vibes: Dining with a View Vancouver's layout is like a dating app for food and nature; they're a match made in heaven. Whether you're brunching in a leafy neighborhood or devouring seafood with an ocean panorama, the city serves up an Instagrammable backdrop for every meal. Picture this: a patio, a breeze, and the scent of fir trees â eating out just got a whole lot cooler.
Neighborhood Chronicles: Culinary Adventures Off the Beaten Path Downtown is cool, but venture out, and you'll hit foodie gold. Commercial Drive's eclectic spots or Richmond's legit Asian flavors â Vancouver's neighborhoods are like culinary treasure maps. Each area has its own flavor story, tempting you to be the food explorer you were born to be.
Conclusion Vancouver isn't just a city with good food; it's a food fiesta waiting to happen. The Asian vibes, the Pacific Northwest's goodies, and the city's chill connection with nature make dining here a full-blown experience. Vancouver isn't just North America's food champion; it's a vibe, a journey through flavors, and a big, fat stamp on your foodie passport. So, next time you're craving a culinary adventure, Vancouver's got your back, fork, and knife.

The 25 sheets of vinyl sticker printer paper in standard size 8.5x11" were a joy to work with, and the compatibility with most inkjet printers made it incredibly versatile. However, it's worth noting that they aren't compatible with Epson Eco pot printers. One thing that really stood out for me was the clear adhesive vinyl sticker paper, which was not only waterproof but boasted an improved crystal clear and shiny finish, making my projects pop. And the permanent adhesion and tear resistance ensure the stickers are durable, perfect for indoor use on various solid surfaces, including projects that add fun and personality to life and work. Using the WeLiu clear sticker paper was a breeze. It dries incredibly quickly after printing, improving work efficiency and allowing for the enjoyment of colorful patterns or exquisite and smooth labels. The applications are endless, making it perfect for DIY personalized stickers for label text, logos, commercial slogans, mural decorations, diary covers, suitcases, furniture cabinets, refrigerators, and so much more (not recommended for t-shirts). While the WeLiu Printable Transparent Sticker Paper provides endless possibilities for customizing your life, it's essential to note that it does have a poor waterproof effect. Thus, using it on surfaces with liquid, saturation, or submersion is not recommended, as it will smudge the beautiful printed pattern. Despite this minor drawback, the ease of printing and application makes me absolutely love the WeLiu Printable Transparent Sticker Paper. Simply insert one sheet at a time into the inkjet printer, let it dry for a few minutes, cut and round the edges for quicker and easier peeling, and finally, clean and dry the chosen surface before applying the vinyl sticker. Overall, I can't recommend the WeLiu Printable Transparent Sticker Paper enough. It's the perfect addition to any crafting or DIY enthusiast's toolkit, offering endless possibilities for personalizing your life and creating stunning projects. https://preview.redd.it/6cavzbfxqk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d6f98e3a7d796908a7fea34ca877df7b7885ba7 I recently had the chance to try out these transparent label papers for myself, and I have to say they've been a game-changer in my DIY decorating projects. The 8.5x11 inch size is perfect for covering larger areas without having to fuss over individual stickers. Plus, the full sheet format means I can customize the entire surface easily. One thing that stood out to me was how versatile these stickers are. They work perfectly with my laser printer - no jams or smudges! I used them to create personalized stickers for my office supplies, making it easy to identify them at a glance. And because they're 100% transparent, they don't obscure any part of the design underneath. However, there are a few minor drawbacks worth mentioning. Firstly, the packaging could use some improvement; it would be nice to receive the product in a neatly sealed box with instructions or labels included. Additionally, one reviewer mentioned issues with ink holding on the paper - I didn't experience this myself, but it's worth keeping in mind. Overall, I'm really happy with these clear sticker papers and would recommend them for anyone looking to add a personal touch to their belongings. https://preview.redd.it/j2hq6klxqk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c370a3622eef6fbe30838cde82a0a6c29d5c3462 Using WeLiu's Printable Transparent Sticker Paper in my daily life has been quite an adventure! The glossy effect adds a touch of sophistication to every sticker I create, and the 15 sheets in one package are perfect for all my DIY needs. A unique highlight of this product is the super transparent quality, making it stand out from other sticker papers. However, it's important to note that it isn't waterproof, so using these stickers indoors is your best bet. Another thing I particularly loved is the ease of tearing the liner from any corner, streamlining the process and allowing me to peel off the stickers without a hitch. The waiting time of 1-5 minutes to allow the ink to dry may seem tedious at first, but it ensures the sticker's longevity and prevents unsightly smudging. In conclusion, WeLiu's Printable Transparent Sticker Paper is a must-have for every crafter or DIY enthusiast. Its glossy surface, super transparent quality, and easy-to-tear-off liner make it a top choice in the world of stickers. Just remember to use it indoors, and you're good to go. https://preview.redd.it/m3upql5yqk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf247d50e46954bdf8392b0b083cd66bc8ad6c8c I recently picked up this Clear Printable Vinyl for my Inkjet Printer, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The 25 sheets of clear sticker paper are perfect for creating high-quality labels and stickers that are smudge-proof and waterproof. What I love most about this vinyl is how easy it is to use with my inkjet printer, and the quality of the final product is top-notch. The material is highly durable, made of waterproof and chemical-resistant material, which is a major plus. I find that the sheets are also compatible with most cutting machines, making it a versatile choice for various projects. However, there were some downsides to this product. I noticed that the vinyl can be slightly tricky to work with, especially when it comes to ensuring proper adhesion. Additionally, the sheets are not repositionable, which can be a little frustrating during the application process. In summary, the Clear Printable Vinyl for Inkjet Printer offers a great balance of quality and durability, making it a solid choice for those looking to create professional-looking labels and stickers. While it may have some minor drawbacks, the overall experience with this product has been mostly positive. https://preview.redd.it/w7vfrrdyqk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=86c1532cb38332a6bdedc46434a2af1d483b0f52 The waterproof clear vinyl sticker paper I've been using lately has been a game-changer for all my DIY projects. It measures 25 sheets of A4 size that fit perfectly in most inkjet or laser printers. This translucent vinyl comes with an impressive 70% diaphaneity, allowing my photos, posters, or any other designs to have a beautiful, vibrant appearance. One of the aspects I loved about this sticker paper is its versatility, making it suitable for not just office or school but also home use. It adheres to a variety of surfaces including metal, plastic, glass, and even cardboard. However, for inkjet printers, make sure to use pigmented ink for better results. If you're using dye ink instead, use clear laminate vinyl on your prints or clear varnish spray to make them waterproof. Though it's a tad on the thicker side at 80Îźm, I appreciate how this sticker paper is extremely durable and withstands harsh weather conditions, even months of direct sunlight and rain. It also boasts being scratch-resistant and tear-proof, further showcasing its resilience. One minor issue I had with this product was when it arrived, it was in a rolled-up form which caused it to be a bit crumpled. Nevertheless, a little weight applied over a few days will do the trick of flattening it out. Overall, this waterproof sticker paper has made my DIY projects more vibrant and weather-resistant, definitely worth a try! https://preview.redd.it/gu48p4syqk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffb5542c52ed6a2e59d757b7d6328bd082f3a7d9 Earlier this month, I found myself in need of some creative materials for an upcoming project. That's when I discovered this 90% Clear Sticker Paper for my inkjet printer. With 20 sheets in a pack, I was excited to get started on my vision. The sheets are of great quality, they ensure that my designs turn out vibrant and sharp. One day, while working on a particularly intricate design, I noticed how durable these stickers were. Not only did they not smudge with frequent handling, but they also maintained their color and brightness. It was quite a relief to see my work preserved in such a way. However, one thing that came as a bit of a letdown was their thickness. It felt a bit too thick to stick it on extremely curved surfaces. Regardless, for everything else, it's been a joy to work with. https://preview.redd.it/adp11o7zqk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32bce06bdebc62572a1dca38238c5ff2cb645fd4 I recently stumbled upon the 20-sheet semi-super clear sticker paper for my inkjet printer by Yennsey, and it's been a game-changer in my label-making escapades. The pack comes with eight and a half by eleven-inch sheets, which are compatible with most inkjet printers and craft cutters. It's a simple yet effective solution for various DIY projects, from wedding invitations to party labels. One of the standout features of this sticker paper is its high-quality, glossy clear vinyl. It not only adds a touch of elegance but also makes the labels durable and waterproof. I've used them on glass, plastic, and metal surfaces, and they stick perfectly without causing any damage upon removal. The removable adhesive is a nice touch, too; it allows me to adjust the stickers during application and ensures no residue is left behind. However, there's one issue I've encountered. The stickers tend to smudge and scratch easily, especially during the printing process. To avoid this, I recommend running a test copy on a standard sheet of paper before using the sticker paper to ensure optimal settings. Overall, I've been very satisfied with the Yennsey sticker paper. Its compatibility with various inkjet printers and craft cutters makes it a versatile option for all your labeling needs. As for the smudging issue, it's a relatively small inconvenience in the grand scheme of things, and it hasn't affected my overall enjoyment of the product. https://preview.redd.it/3v56oghzqk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=938da58ae582560a04a16f63275b607aac791272 I recently purchased the Paper Plan Clear Sticker Paper for my laser printer, and I must say, it has made my DIY projects so much fun and easy. The sheets are perfectly sized at 8.5 x 11 inches and are compatible with any laser printer, which makes them very versatile. One of the highlights of this sticker paper is that it produces vibrant colors, making it perfect for custom artwork and company logos. The ink dries in just a few minutes, allowing me to apply the sticker soon after printing. Plus, its self-adhesive nature makes it easy to stick on surfaces like wood, glass, and ceramic. On the downside, this product is only compatible with laser printers, so if you don't have one, you'll have to invest in one before using this sticker paper. Additionally, there might be a waiting period if the company has a lot of orders, so keep that in mind if you're in a hurry. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase of the Paper Plan Clear Sticker Paper. The quality is excellent, and the end results are truly professional-looking. If you're into DIY projects or need custom stickers for your business, I highly recommend giving this product a try. https://preview.redd.it/l7386itzqk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b26f37e70bdc70f8e9091136ed3b00230137a4f9 So, I tried out this Cricut Printable Clear Sticker Paper, and boy, it's really something! You can create customized stickers using your own designs or photos. I used it for some home decor, and my kids loved putting the stickers all over their bedrooms. The transparency of the stickers gave them a sleek look that blended well on any surface. One thing that was really great about this product was the ease of use. It was simple to design and print my own stickers. Another highlight was the vibrant colors that came out without the need for any color correction. However, one downside I found was the difficulty in cutting the stickers perfectly; the edges were a little jagged at times. Another issue was the stickiness of the backing paper, which made it a bit challenging to remove the stickers cleanly. Sometimes, there would be tiny bits of paper left behind. Lastly, the thickness of the sticker paper could be an issue for those with printers that struggle to handle thick paper. In summary, this Cricut Printable Clear Sticker Paper is perfect for someone looking to have fun with customized stickers, decals, and labels. However, be aware that there might be some challenges with cutting and removing the stickers. https://preview.redd.it/kby8cua0rk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cab5f1da12ceba20df292731d3b57f3ff1084b6 As a product reviewer, I recently had the opportunity to test out Avery's Glossy Clear Rectangle Labels, and I'm happy to report that they have made a noticeable difference in my labeling projects. The first thing that caught my eye was the stunning glossy finish on these labels. When applied to glass or metal surfaces, they practically disappears, giving a clean and professional look to any item. One of the features that stands out most about Avery's labels is their unique Sure Feed technology. This feature ensures that the labels feed smoothly through the printer without creating jams or smudges. As someone who has dealt with countless printer jams in the past, I can't stress enough how much of a lifesaver this has been for me. Another highlight is the strength and reliability of its adhesive backing. After attaching my labels to various surfaces, I've had zero issues with them peeling or curling up. And for those who need a label that can withstand a little moisture or weather, you'll be pleased to know that these labels are water-resistant. However, these labels do come with some minor drawbacks. For one, they aren't compatible with industrial printers or those designed specifically for labeling purposes. Additionally, the glossy finish can make it slightly difficult to read labels that include fine text or small details. All in all, I'm very impressed with Avery's Glossy Clear Rectangle Labels. They've managed to create a durable, versatile, and visually appealing product that's perfect for both personal and professional use. If you're in the market for high-quality labels, I'd highly recommend giving Avery's Glossy Clear Rectangle Labels a try. https://preview.redd.it/kc4ijzi0rk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=023643a3c741b15b7d89fe6aa02e0c1b8fd69c15 I had been crafting with paper for years, but I always felt limited with the creative possibilities. That was until I discovered Koala Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper. This magical paper has completely transformed my DIY projects, allowing me to breathe life into my designs like never before. The quality of the vinyl sticker paper is top-notch. As soon as you print out your images or text, they come out vibrant and clear. Plus, the paper's strong adhesive ensures that your stickers will stick to solid smooth surfaces without falling off, even after some water rinsing. One of my favorite features of this sticker paper is its water-resistance. It's perfect for projects that might get wet or damp, like coasters or name tags for a beach party. The ink doesn't bleed, smear, or smudge, which means your designs will always look sharp no matter how much they've been through. However, there's been one minor issue I noticed in some cases - the ink may take a bit longer to dry than stated in the product description. I discovered this while working on a time-sensitive project of customized tumblers. To avoid smearing issues, I would recommend waiting at least an hour or two after printing before applying your stickers. Despite this minor inconvenience, I've been incredibly happy with my experience using Koala Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper. It's allowed me to bring new levels of creativity into my crafting projects, and I can't imagine going back to regular paper now. If you're looking for a versatile material that offers strong adhesion, water-resistance, and stunning print quality, then I highly recommend giving Koala Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper a try. https://preview.redd.it/v74rg5z0rk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=090686e9ca936c70be87fb56829964a85ef23541 After spending a week using Gwybkq's Clear Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper for my inkjet printer, I can say that I'm quite impressed with its performance. The paper is of a glossy finish, giving my stickers a sleek and professional look. The weight of the paper is just right â not too thin and not too thick, making it easy to handle. Plus, the 8.5 x 11-inch size is perfect for creating a variety of sticker designs. However, there are a couple of cons worth mentioning. Firstly, the color accuracy could be improved as I noticed slight variations in color due to differences in lighting and computer monitor resolutions. Secondly, the paper takes a bit longer to dry compared to some other vinyl sticker papers I've tried in the past. Overall, I'm happy with the Gwybkq Clear Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper and would recommend it to those who need clear sticker paper for their inkjet printer. Just be sure to have a well-lit workspace and patience for drying time! https://preview.redd.it/axkxvxc1rk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d9173b3e60437108f938afe275e2ed549b32c89 I have been using Neato's transparent vinyl sticker paper for various DIY projects and I'm absolutely in love with it. The clarity of the stickers is impeccable, and it's incredible how well the colors printed on it. I tried using this for decorating my daughter's birthday party invitations and even customized some beer cans for a friend's housewarming party. It's amazing how versatile and easy to stick these stickers are. Plus, they are compatible with both inkjet and laser printers. It's such a joy to see the endless possibilities of what I can create with this sticker paper. However, the only downside I experienced was that the sticker paper, though high-quality and weatherproof, is a bit on the costly side. But considering how multi-purpose and durable it is, I believe it's worth the investment. In conclusion, Neato's transparent vinyl sticker paper has brought a whole new level of customization and creativity into my daily life, whether it be for personal or professional use. I am thoroughly impressed and would definitely recommend it to others! https://preview.redd.it/ahbvu5r1rk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c7507ca13c75f9a93d082243c9b85d9ff22b7eef As a dedicated crafter, I recently had the chance to try out the Gwybkq Clear Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper for Inkjet Printer. I must say, this product has truly changed my DIY game. The 50 sheets of clear, transparent labels not only caught my eye but also made my sticker-making projects look more professional than ever. One of the highlights of this product for me was its quick-dry feature. I've dealt with many sticker papers that take ages to dry, leaving smudge marks all over my designs when I try to apply them. But with this vinyl sticker paper, I was able to peel off the stickers within minutes without any issues. Another feature that stood out was how easily it handled my inkjet printer. Some sticker papers tend to jam or produce poor-quality prints, but not this one! My prints came out crisp and clear every single time. However, I did experience a few minor inconveniences. For instance, the glossy finish may be great for some projects, but it can be quite reflective under certain lighting conditions, making it difficult to read text or see intricate details in some cases. Additionally, while the adhesive is strong, I noticed that the edges of the stickers can sometimes curl up if not applied correctly. Despite these minor cons, I would still highly recommend the Gwybkq Clear Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper for anyone looking to elevate their crafting projects. The high-quality prints, quick-dry feature, and ease of use make it a valuable addition to any crafter's toolbox! https://preview.redd.it/s2kayu22rk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ecb927526c8a90bd29ef6ee95ad0b4d7e1007974 As a product tester, I tried this Transparent Clear Inkjet Printer Vinyl Sticker Paper for my DIY projects and to be honest, it was quite a letdown. While the material is indeed waterproof, the ink smudged and came off too easily, making it unfit for long-term use. To make matters worse, the adhesive isn't as strong as advertised, causing the stickers to curl at the edges and peel off. However, this vinyl sticker paper does live up to its promise of compatibility with both inkjet and laser printers. In fact, it was quite easy to work with, especially when using an inkjet printer. Its glossy clear appearance gives a professional finish to your designs, but it's worth mentioning that the material is actually glossy white in real life, which could be misleading for some customers. Another highlight is its quick-drying feature. Ink dries within five minutes, offering a high-sticky and high-stable surface for your designs. However, this also makes it prone to smudging, as the ink doesn't dry completely, causing it to smear easily. In summary, while this Inkjet Printer Vinyl Sticker Paper has some promising features, the poorly executed ink resistance and weak adhesive make it difficult to recommend for anyone looking for a long-lasting, quality product. It's best to keep looking for a more reliable option. Buyer's Guide If you're in search of high-quality clear sticker papers for your next creative project, there are several important features and considerations you should keep in mind. Understanding these points will help you make a well-informed decision when purchasing your sticker papers. Material and Durability The choice of material plays a significant role in the durability and performance of your clear sticker paper. It's essential to look for options made from high-quality materials such as polyester or vinyl, which provide long-lasting resistance to water, UV rays, and regular wear and tear. https://preview.redd.it/1tghskg3rk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=902ef9cc2816c75dce1fcd2bcc69885f00278d21 Adhesive Strength Consider the adhesive strength of the sticker paper. Depending on your intended application, you may require different levels of adhesion. Permanent adhesive is best for applications where you do not want the sticker to be removable, while repositionable adhesive is ideal for projects that may require adjustments during application. Thickness and Dimensional Stability The thickness of clear sticker paper can affect the quality and appearance of the finished product. A thicker option will provide a more substantial feel and better resistance to creasing and tearing. Additionally, look for papers with good dimensional stability, ensuring that they maintain their shape and size over time. Print Quality The quality of the print on clear sticker paper is crucial for achieving professional-looking results. Ensure that the paper can handle your preferred printing method, such as inkjet or laser, and delivers high-resolution, vibrant, and long-lasting prints. https://preview.redd.it/ca9mcks3rk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cf605846a707c4b915c65ab1c1afd713696c944 Ease of Use The clear sticker paper should be easy to work with, allowing for quick and efficient cutting and application. Look for options with a user-friendly coating, minimizing the chance of smudging or smearing during the printing and cutting process. Compatibility with Printer Models Ensure that the clear sticker paper you choose is compatible with your specific printer model. Incompatible materials may cause issues with print quality, feed compatibility, or worse, damage your printer. Always check the compatibility list provided by the paper manufacturer. Customer Reviews and Reputation Before making your purchase, consider the reputation of the brand and the feedback given by previous buyers. Reading genuine customer reviews can provide a good understanding of the product's overall quality, performance, and user satisfaction. https://preview.redd.it/qeyedf25rk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d52a24979c79e4386983eb64551ec752316125c7 FAQ 1. 2024.05.20 09:35 Precog-Nacog WildFlower Festival Went Hard Today
-Ok, here me out: It was really f-ing hot today. Cool breeze did what it could, all things considered. Take this review with a grain of salt: as I may have been sodium-deficient during the show. It was really gnarly tho: Daniel Markham closed out the Karbach Love Street Stage at 4pm - just at peak asymptote with the waft of butt-crack port-a-potty and kettle-flavored corns & when your knees really let you know how dey feelin'. The inflatable and Giant LoveStreet beer can was no match for the sonic force that forced its presence into the otherwise-bare and plain atmosphere - taking the balloon can as victim like every one of those roadies on the way to the show.
The smart move was to grab a lemonade, and hopefully find a bit of shade, while this local Quintet powerfully laid, a down-right dirty-laundry, air-raid, boiler-room of a driving 45-min set - reminiscent of a season of REM shows in the dusty Atlanta backyards of the 1990's. Emotionally-speaking, there was a genuine connection when Markham made a half-joking explanation for each of the meanings of the song - by repeating the name of the song. I dunno if that helps the search-engine-optimization? His laid-back demeanor laide bare a contrast to the buzz-saw distorted lighting bolt of energy he brought to the stage. Luckily, the festival storm shelter was nearby; in the event one of the performers summoned the thunder Gods, we could seek shelter from any more cray cray stormy-(daniel markham's) whether in the parking structure >.<
Two guitars split melodies and played counterpoint to a helluva backline. The plaid-clad brothers were so synchronized they must have originally been Siamese twins who memorized and harmonized together. The ostensible ostinato during Heartbeat laid a pulse that subconsciously activated my toe-tapping and kept me moving. Keys played glue, wearing red 'n looking cool. Doesn't matter if its not true, people are talking about it now.
'Big Star' hits hard; however, its my LEAST Favorite Country Bar where some rotten a$$h0le ganked all gears a few years ago. This show was on Sunday and it was HOT; and we all start over sometimes, so I didn't do shit this 'Lazy Sunday' - the tune was cool, tho kinda busy if u ask me. I would also describe the way 'the way it goes' goes, but its kinda hard to describe the way it goes without hearing it first, ya feel me?
Bleep-bloop & Anywhoop, they played most (g-rated cuts) of the new album - 'Standing in the Rain' did not prove to be prophetic, despite DM's best summons.
I wasnt sure if I heard my Second Favorite song before, but I'll see if I dont find the record store on my way back down to the spot. Defibri-Ventillator was a throwback surprise and the only "Classic" cut of the show as i recall. Mind you, my gonzo-ass melting pot was half in the bag in a puddle of my own making: u know how it go - sweat gon' flow. The "Sky is a Fire" echoed back to those west-Texas canyon coyotes - who came spilling-out fast; when Ralph's and the Thrift Store closed some years back.
This show was great - they are great - Catch them if you can, while you can, when you can, etc. YT for a new music vid and he just dropped a new album the other day. We drove in just for their set and it was worth it. Debate potential DMB band names in the comments??
P.S. Something must be growing well in Richardson, because your Wildflower was well-run and folks were friendly, the Texas way as they s-blah blah blah I'm just kidding.
We're all in this together - might as well dance or something.
P.P.S Aaand, I got fired today. No regrets, but I'd better stop editing before things get drunk and sloopy.

2024.05.20 04:02 goBerserk_ Project Napoleon Chapter 5
First Previous Next
Mike marveled at the beauty of the inner city. He was familiar with Kael architecture and had even seen some up close at the university, but it was far grander here than on Earth, and it was far grander in person than in the videos and pictures he'd seen. The buildings were a hybrid of Gothic and expressionist architecture built with classical aesthetics.
Mosaics, statues, and murals were everywhere, but despite the grand buildings and beautiful decorations, Mike couldnât keep his eyes off the ground.
Even the streets are beautiful. The ground he and Dreki walked was like a freshly cooled lava flow paved by slates of colored glass that softly glowed in the dimming light of the evening sun.
As they walked, Mike was woken from his trance by the scent of meat cooking.
Dreki smiled and said, âSmells good. You hungry?â
Mike nodded.
Dreki grinned and led Mike around the corner to a food cart. Mike salivated as the flames licked and sputtered at fat dripping from hunks of what looked like octopus turning on spits. The aroma of meat and spices was intoxicating. Dreki ordered them octopus skewers. As he handed Mike his skewer, Dreki said, âYouâre never going to be able to eat earth octopus again.â
Mike chuckled. âIâve never had it in the first place; I grew up in the mountains thousands of miles from the ocean.â
Dreki looked incredulous. âDid you not have rivers?â
Mike shrugged his shoulders, âNot with octopi.â
Dreki raised his free hand in exasperation. âWhatever. Either way, youâll be disappointed by the rubbery trash humans call an octopus after eating this.â
Mike took a bite of the meat and groaned in pleasure. It tasted like a beefier version of bacon. Mike wolfed down his skewer in the blink of an eye and exclaimed, âThat was fucking good!â
Dreki gave him a âMhhhmhâ with his still mouth full.
Dreki finished his food and led Mike off the main road onto a footpath flanked by wispy trees with dark blue leaves.
Eventually, the pair entered the back garden of a building that looked like a melted cathedral. Dreki led him through an open gate into a well-lit waiting room and held out his arm. âHand me your bag; Iâll take it to your room. Iâll come get you after.â
Mike slipped his bag from his shoulders and handed it to Dreki. As the herculean Kael was leaving, he turned and said, âTry not to scream when they brand you; itâs an ill omen.â
Mike drummed his fingers on the armrests of the chair in the sea foam green waiting room, which was decorated with pictures of duels and exotic plants in white and blue ceramic pots. He was pretty sure that more than one of the photographs was of Drekiâs father.
Mike was anxious. Getting branded would suck, and getting an AR implant would involve someone sticking a drill through his skull. And without his gargantuan minder, Mike felt almost naked. He knew that he would probably be fine, but this was the home of the enemy. Without any weapons, he stood little chance against any Kael worth their salt in a fight.
Mike chided himself for the thought.
Why does everything have to revolve around violence? Is there no world where you can just get along with them? Mike frowned.
No. I hate them. Despite his barely contained rage, Mike felt nauseous as blood-soaked memories bombarded his mind.
He doubted that he could kill again, even if it meant dying.
Drekiâs not so bad; maybe out here, more of them are like him than Ocidea. Mikeâs melancholy was interrupted when the tall door at the far end of the room opened. A short, for a Kaelman, nurse wearing pea green scrubs walked out, locked eyes with him, and shouted, âMike Anderson!â
Mike followed the short Kael nurse into a cream-colored operating room. In the center an instrument table hovered next to an operating table. Besides the operating table stood a middle-aged Kael with tusks intricately inlaid with silver in triangular patterns. His white lab coat had Chief Surgeon Athocill emblazoned over the right breast pocket.
The Chief Surgeon stared off into space, engrossed in AR. The nurse who brought him in pointed to the operating table. Mike sat down.
A slender Kaelwoman in scrubs and a lab coat identifying her as the assistant surgeon walked in and started arranging the tools.
She glanced at Mike and said, âTake off your shirt.â
Mike pulled the black T-shirt he was wearing over his head and set it on the table next to him.
Without looking away from his work, the Chief Surgeon tossed Mike a leather strap and said, âBrand him.â
The short nurse pulled a heat stamp from its case and rolled the numbers to their correct positions. Mike put the leather strap in his mouth and grabbed onto the table.
Drekiâs warning rang through his head*.*
The Nurse carefully placed the print plate just below Mikeâs collarbone and pushed it down. The heat stamp's coils flashed white. Mike bit down on the leather strap as hard as he could, and his knuckles popped as he gripped the edges of the operating table as hard as he could. Tendrils of smoke billowed off Mikeâs chest as his flesh was seared, and the acrid smell of burnt hair and torched flesh wafted through the room.
Mike stifled a groan as the nurse peeled the superheated steel off his chest. The Nurse set the smoking stamp back in its case to cool and picked up a small jar of viscous blue fluid and a brush. The nurse opened the jar, dipped the brush in the blue goop, and painted it over Mikeâs still-smoking burn. Mike jolted at the freezing touch of the brush. His ribs and abdomen rose and fell rapidly as he took short, shallow breaths as the freezing cold shocked his nervous system.
The nurse put the brush away and closed the jar. âDoneâ
Mike let the leather strap drop from his mouth and put on a straight face as he externally disguised the pain. Showing weakness was not an option, even if every fiber of his being commanded him to scream.
The assistant took hold of Mikeâs arm and spoke. âMake a fist and squeeze.â
Mike did as she asked. It was a good distraction from the pain. His knuckles turned white, and the veins in his forearm bulged after a few seconds of pressure.
âYouâll feel a tiny pinch.â
The assistant jabbed the needle into the crook of his arm.
Mikeâs head immediately felt heavy, and his whole body tingled. He tried to stay upright, to no avail. His vision grayed out as his head plopped onto the table with a thud.
The surgeon looked to his assistant and asked, âIs he out?â
âYes.â She answered.
âLet us begin.â
The assistant used a small metal tool to pull Mike's right eyelid open. The chief surgeon plunged a gold needle into the depths of Mikeâs right eye.
The surgeon carefully pulled the needle from the humanâs eye and set the syringe back down on the floating instrument table.
âTargeting chip in place. Next stage.â
The nurse began rummaging around a drawer in the back of the room, and the chief surgeon plucked a gleaming silver drill from the instrument table.
The drill in the surgeon's hand whirred as he plunged it into Mikeâs skull. After just a few seconds, the drill bored through Mike's skull. The surgeon pulled the drill out of the human's head and angled the bit down into a small metal dish that was in the extended arms of the assistant. The chief surgeon hit a button on the drill with his thumb.
A bloody, dime-sized piece of Mikeâs skull dropped to the bottom of the metal dish with a clang.
He set the drill back down on the instrument table and held out his hand. âDrone.â
The nurse put an insect-like metal contraption that resembled a whip scorpion in the surgeonâs hand. The chief surgeon's eyes glazed as he entered his AR and took control of the drone. It popped out of his hand and burrowed itself into the hole in Mike's skull.
Inside his AR, he brought the drone to the occipital lobe of Mikeâs brain.
âDeploying lattice.â
The arachnid-like drone injected small metal spikes with spools of minuscule wire attachedâanchor pointsâinto Mikeâs brain. After just a minute's work, the surgeon had crafted a web of wires across Mike's brain. He brought the drone back to the center of Mikeâs brain and planted one final anchor spike. A reel inside one of the claw-like appendages at the front of the drone spun, cinching the lattice of wires down to the last anchor point. The surgeon brought the drone around again, ensuring that the web of copper was completely taut against the humanâs brain. He brought the drone back out and smiled ever so slightly as the blood and cerebrospinal fluid-soaked drone hopped back into his gloved hand.
Chief Surgeon Athocill smiled and jovially said, âPatch him up.â He was pleased with his performance today. This was the first human to get an advanced AR package, and the procedure went flawlessly. The assistant grabbed a quarter-sized piece of flesh-colored putty and carefully placed the small piece of skull onto it. She placed the putty over the hole in Mikeâs head, and it took to life, bonding the fragment of bone back into place and sealing the surface wound.
The surgeon removed his gloves and began typing on a holoprojection. âAll systems are operational. Iâm linking him to the military network now.â
The assistant pulled the instrument table to her side and plucked a syringe filled with neon green fluid. She said, âIâm waking him up now,â as she plunged the needle into Mikeâs arm.
Mikeâs eyes flew open, and he grit his teeth against the pain. Tears seeped from his stinging and blood-filling right eye. Every heartbeat brought a jolt of crippling pain to his head. And worst of all was the searing pain from the brand on his chest and the aching cold that barely disguised it. Mike sat up with a grunt. Pain shot through his chest when he brought his hand to his head and felt the hardened disc of putty on his temple.
The surgeon addressed Mike with a soothing tone. âOn the count of three, Iâm going to activate your AR. It will feel like your head is on fire for a few seconds, but it will only last a few seconds. One⌠Two⌠Three!â
Mike nearly collapsed with the pain, but he managed to limit his response to a grunt. Light flashed before his eyes, and Kaelic text appeared in the center of his vision. The doctor asked, âWhat do you see.â
Mike answered, âAR active. And below that, it says setup wizard.â Despite his best efforts, pain was evident in his voice.
âOk, Mike, I want you to think, âopen setup wizard.ââ
Mike blinked a few times. âNothing happened.â
The surgeon said, âThink it in Kaelic.â
Mikeâs brow furrowed in concentration. He was fluent in Kaelic, but not to the point where he could think in the language at will.
âOk, I got it. It says setting menu at the top, and there are a ton of things here. Do you want me to read them off?â
âNo. Can you scroll down?â
âYes.â
âGood. You should be able to get the hang of this pretty quickly; it's very intuitive. Youâll see that there are a few HUD profiles that you can pick from. Iâd recommend you start from profile two and then customize it as you see fit.â
Mike nodded as he selected profile two.
âOK, now think clear.â
Mike did as the surgeon asked. His vision was now cleared.
The surgeon smiled. âFeel free to fiddle with the settings, just think clear if it gets cluttered, and reset if you make a dogâs breakfast of it. Youâll have a headache for the next few days, and you may start having more vivid dreams, but other than that, youâll barely notice the change. Just take it easy for the next few days, and donât itch at your brand or your eye.â

2024.05.20 03:08 PlantsandNeurology Am I overreacting to the way my husband speaks to our son (21mo)
I really need perspective from other people on 2 issues.
TLDR: 1. How often do you raise your voice at your toddler? 2. Am I being AH in saying that itâs not normal?
My husband grew up in a yelling home. Bickering all the time and then the parents were too nice for a while, rinse, repeat. 0 communication skills. I grew up with parents saying I (we) needed to solve my own conflicts (with my siblings) from a young age. Iâd get angry at my siblings and then weâd apologize/help each other and that was that. My norm is getting angry, cooling off and then verbalizing an issue.
My husbandâs temper used to be short, now itâs medium. He worked hard to be less passive aggressive, less volatile, use his words.
However, he still raises his voice at our son (21 months) 2+ times a day. Ie When changing his diaper our son will squirm, try to turn away (I donât think he likes his ankles being held together as he doesnât cry with me), and my husband will say âno! Stop. Stop it. Cut it out! God damn itâ. Iâve asked him not to hold his ankles together, to give him a distraction (squeeze pouch, peel a tangerine, etc), or to ask him to do things in a normal time of voice or explain so that long term our son can understand whatâs being asked and comply. He brushes this off. Iâve asked before the change, during and Iâve talked to him about it when heâs calm.
My husband was in the bathroom using the toilet, my son went in there and started messing with the cat scoop which is a no-go. I heard the tell tale clang and got up to walk in and help. As I was walking to the bathroom my husband is yelling at him to stop, drop it, cut it out. This doesnât help, itâs not effective, our child isnât listening to the direction so I detach the scoop and let son know the litter box is off limits and yucky and also ask my husband to give our son what to do instead of what not to do. My husband is already really irate and snaps at me.
There are times my husband doesnât talk to him like that. He explains that things are ouch or not, is patient, and is willing to teach son how to use X thing correctly or why we donât do something. But there are a significant portion of instances where my husband is not thinking in my sonâs shoes and just speaks to him in such an unempathetic manner. He gets overwhelmed, overstimulated easily. Heâs a very anxious person and goes 0-50 pretty easily if things arenât perfect (and they never have been). He talks to the dog like this, too. (He says the dog is never going to change so he just gets frustrated when she barks, etc. He is eternally stuck in helplessness while I am an eternal optimist).
This is every day, multiple times a day. But not ever around other people or in public. This is why I feel it isnât normal.
Is that normal? To talk to your son like that in 25% of your interactions? Do you?
He says I talk to our son like that too and when I asked him to explain he cited when I was trying to get him away from a broken plant pot and when I was trying to get him to not spill a cup of coffee on himself today (the latter was a very short, âno, put that back!â and when he didnât I gently took it from him and set it next to me). Thereâs a difference between safety and inconvenience.
My second ask, when I try to talk to my husband about these things he redirects away from himself and says âyou do xyz things wrong tooâ or âwell what would you have done any betterâ or âoh my god itâs always somethingâ. To be fair I do feel pretty anxious/sick about what messages my son is going to take away from our household dynamic so I do think Iâm (clearly not very helpfully) commenting too much when I see these things. Do you thinkâŚI guess, what can I do better? Or is it ok so I should just stop commenting? I feel like Iâm stuck in a very sad and anxious place about what weâre modeling for our son and then that makes me not see the good in my husband.
For context. He is the SAHD and just finished school for the semester. Heâs stressed about money right now as I just quit my job, but I intend to have a job within the next two months and my family wonât let anything happen to us. In general he is always like this, it doesnât really go up and down. No other stressors.
I guess Iâm just seeing if people say this is normal then I can just let it go and remove a layer of stress from our dynamic. I feel like our days are a cycle of arguing about this.
I will say, he has allowed himself to go with the flow of my parenting. No getting mad about crayon on the walls, or taking stuff out of the trash, or throwing food on the floor. We just teach him not to do it and teach him to clean stuff up/rely on explaining things and now son doesnât do those things anymore. Our son helps us do dishes, make food, sweep, vacuum so I donât think weâre doing too bad, there.

2024.05.20 01:40 hilightnotes Some highly critical first impressions of Legendary Tales
This post is very long. edit -- I added a short summary here, https://www.reddit.com/PSVcomments/1cw1rfa/comment/l4uu4xu/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button __________________________________________
TOO-LONG-SUMMARY __________________________________________
So, I was
very much looking forward to Legendary Tales for a while now after hearing so many great things.
I bought it on sale a couple days ago and played the first hour or so, completing the tutorial and entering the main hub. Then I uninstalled and refunded it.
This is not a 'hate post' and I hope that this post will not only help people understand some of the issues of this game, and what this game is NOT, but also help people understand what this game is and why you might love it. I talked about my criticisms with others who love the game to help me approach this and hopefully deliver some useful thoughts. It's worth noting that I got lots of agreement about my criticisms from the people I talked to - who still love the game.
In short,
People love this game for the combat development in the context of a 40+ hour adventure. All the depth to the skill trees, which of course in my hour I didn't touch. The creativity of building the mechanics of a character RPG style - except you get to physically battle in VR. The reward of unlocking that cool skill you've been excited to try out, or finding a legendary that's a blast to use. Even in my short time with the game I could feel the beginnings of this with the parry system. I did have fun fighting skeletons with a simple sword and no skills, and felt the challenge as I had to aim my sword deflections well and time my counterstrikes. There is an effective mechanic preventing waggle-fest and I can begin to imagine all the room to develop your combat mechanics in a way that is, fun and rewarding, and uniquely VR.
Sounds great right? To some it truly is.
But to me, not so much. Why? Because everything else is lacking to a degree I did not expect.
I've been playing a lot of The Light Brigade lately. And although these two games are totally different, it's a useful game to bring up because The Light Brigade excels in all the ways that Legendary Tales significantly falls short.
Atmosphere - music and sound, lighting and colours, art design, character and enemy models
Interfacing - Onboarding and intuitive learning, UI design and fluidity, control mapping, options, grabbing/interacting with objects, general polish
Storytelling - Plot, lore, world building, characters, character and enemy expressiveness, writing
For many people who play games, combat is at the forefront of their interests. For me, it always takes a backseat priority - if its present at all - to the above three aspects. The combat in Bloodborne is great, but it is because it excels in those 3 aspects that it's one of my favourite games. I also love lengthy games like Pentiment, Disco Elysium, Planescape Torment, and Pathologic 2, which have minimal or no combat and lots of reading!
Legendary Tales is simply mediocre in those three bolded aspects and for me that's a hard pass. If these aspects were serviceable to me - done well enough to facilitate the combat - I might have kept going. But I don't use the world 'mediocre' lightly. This is the appropriate word to me, and because of that, I did not want to spend 40+ hours in this world.

DETAILS __________________________________________
For those interested, or for the developers, I will continue with a breakdown of these aspects I am criticizing, trying to go through everything I felt about them in the first hour or so of playing.
Main menu was my favourite part. I liked the scene + music together. Nice. I was looking forward to playing and this had me feeling fuzzy and ready to enjoy the game. Unfortunately, it was not to be.
The very first issue I noticed was that the game felt washed out. Even in that main menu I liked, I was feeling like it was a bit washed out. So I tried adjusting brightness down... then the darker areas felt better, but the light areas felt off. The more I played and tried to adjust to find the right equilibrium, the more I realized the lighting and contrast is just not good and adjusting brightness can't save that.
The second issue I noticed was the menu cursor to select things. It felt like an early VR game that hadn't quite figured out VR menus yet. It's useable but not fluid and pleasing.
The third issue I noticed was the unintuitive controls. I thought that this was the kind of game, kind of like a Souls game, where you aren't taught everything but learn things as you go in an organic manner. Maybe some of that exists in this game, but mostly it's simply bad control design and a bad tutorial. It's the difference between having barriers that have purpose, purposeful friction, and feel good when discovered vs barriers that feel pointless and just build frustration without purpose. The controls feel like a mess and while it's apparent that people can get used to them as they play more, it's not in a justified sense.
Along with this are interfacing issues. For example, grabbing items feels very awkward. The motions are clunky, for example the way a weapon will slowly glide into place in your hands. There's so many interfacing issues. The interface to see weapon/item stats on weapons that are laying about is clunky, the interface to switch weapons is clunky, the magic interface is clunky, dialogue boxes feel clunky,... all of these things feel clunky both in terms of feel and also aesthetic.
A very straightforward and obvious example is dialogue. Character dialogue is presented in a large bland text on a page. To progress through the dialogue, there's no obvious place to click or button to push. In fact, you have to click a particular area of the page, which feels totally arbitrary and unintuitive. Sure, once you learn, you can do it fine, but it's just bad interface design.
To go back to The Light Brigade, think about the difference in both feel and aesthetic to opening a chest or breaking a pot. Grabbing a gun and how it arrives to your hand. The attractive dialogue boxes. Watching a reward pop out of a chest, picking a tarot card. Putting objects into your waist pouch or taking them out. These interactions are all comfortable, beautiful, fluid, and intuitive.
The next thing on my mind was sound.
As I played the tutorial, the soundscape was barren. There was a wind loop, which didn't loop correctly leaving a solid second of space between the end and beginning. Sounds didn't feel like they were placed quite right in 3D space. Point-based sounds (like the crackling of a campfire, that comes from a specific point in space) had too small of a zone (the sound should be heard from further away). In general the soundscape was very barebones. And when I encountered the first character, not only did the character look totally goofy and out of place, but they made no sounds when 'speaking', not even grunts or gibberish sound.
To skip ahead for a moment, I also felt the music did not match the environments enough. The music was quite pretty - that's not the problem. It just didn't feel like the environments were quite synergized with the music.
Again for both music and sound, think of the gun sounds, the ability sounds, the sound of the enemies as they spot you, the sound of the environment, the footsteps and dash, the grunts of characters when the speak, the music... not only does it all sound great, but it all feels like expressions of the unique world of The Light Brigade. This is excellent sound and music design, that truly bring the world to life.
Although a minor complaint, I also noticed lots of grammar and spelling errors. Although I understand the team is in South Korea, and I appreciate the challenges of translation, just like with everything else I was just expecting... more polish. I thought it would feel like a full package, at indie scale. But it feels very much like a partial package.
And that segues into the writing...
There are games with simple and/or unmemorable story, where the story is still servicing and facilitating the gameplay.
And then there is just plain bad writing.
This is very much the latter.
Maybe a bit of this goes back to translation but I am doubtful that it fares much better in original Korean in essence.
The writing is goofy, juvenile, poorly structured, and generic.
I was also seriously turned off by a couple lines in particular, that I'm sure affect me more than most but I will mention anyways. One was something like "valuable gem missing. And a hot girl". Like... There's nothing inherent about calling a woman (or a man) hot that I don't like. Yes gamers, you are allowed to find women attractive, relax. But it's the way its written,... I'm not going to turn this into an essay about male gaze but the way its written simply services a particular male audience that casually objectifies women.
Even worse was the final line I read, a quest line. Paraphrasing, but the primary descriptive words are all exact: "Go kill 10 kill peasants in a refugee camp". I don't think I need to elaborate, people who are on a similar page to me will understand why this was just an incredibly gross line.
I know the above two dialogue criticisms will not be shared by everyone and not affect everyone the same way. I am expressing them as part of what I felt, my personal criticisms and experience, just like the rest of what I'm sharing.
Again to compare to The Light Brigade... every line feels thoughtful and builds character and develops the lore. Whether its the forlorn lines of NPC members of The Light Brigade, or the scenes that appear between runs, and other bits and pieces you get. The Light Brigade develops so much world with few words, it's quite impressive and again a beacon that Urban Wolf Games can learn from.
The final issue I'll discuss was something that struck me earlier on. That is, player character model and lack of customization.
First of all - again an issue that the majority here probably won't be affected by - I could not pick my character model until after completing the tutorial. Specifically, I was forced to do calibration as a male character model, and then had to play the tutorial as this character. Minor complaint but again just another polish issue.
Both male and female models are just... boring designs, and the female model is again very juvenile, obviously serving a primarily male audience, whether intentionally or not.
But more importantly, there's no character customization. Not even the tiniest bit. Even the ability to change just skin colour and hair only would go a long way. Especially in a lengthy adventure like this, I need to be able to identify with my character. Especially with multiplayer it seems essential to me, but even if it were single player, and as someone who plays primarily in single player, character customization is hugely impactful to me.
This does not really have a contrast in The Light Brigade - there's no character customization in The Light Brigade either, although the kind of game it is, it's not as relevant. That said, I do think it would be a nice touch if there WAS some minor character customization in The Light Brigade, and especially if you could play as a woman instead of man if you so choose. Although maybe lore-wise it is intended that all members are male except for 'Mother'. This hasn't been established with any good reason though. So on this point I would lightly criticize The Light Brigade as well.

ENDING THOUGHTS __________________________________________
Ultimately, Legendary Tales is quite simply a very indie game that probably had a very small team and limited funds. I don't know for sure, but probably there *wasn't* a dedicated writer, a dedicated UI and interface designer, etc.
However, these things are still failings of the game and its design. The greatest indie games to me are ones that successfully recognize their scope limitations and develop something complete within that scope. Whether it's the roguelike world of The Light Brigade, or the very short and stylish Tiger Blade, or Jeff Minter's trippy games like Akka Arrh and Polybius, or the retro Silent Hill aesthetic of Organ Quarter, or the suspenseful hotel of Propagation Paradise Hotel... all these games are made by small teams but successfully navigate their limited funds to deliver a full package within an appropriately limited scope.
On the one hand, I really value and support BJ's push for indie games to be respected and for that respect to reflect in the price consumers are prepared to pay. But after being totally on board with the price of Legendary Tales based on what I read from BJ and reviewers and many regular players too, I have to disagree with this game's pricing. This game is not polished enough, and is not a full package. That the game sucked out so much funds is an error of scope.
Maybe I will be in the minority, and Legendary Tales has been a success so it seems that I am, and so good on them for knowing the value of their game to the demographic they targeted I guess. And regardless, even if the pricing and attempted scope of the game are an error on the dev's part, I'm glad for the dev to earn back as much as they can, or even turn a profit hopefully.
But to me, reflecting back to the question the devs put forward: "Do you want to see deep combat development like this in VR for a 40+ hour adventure from indie devs?" The answer is no, I don't. I do consider the scope of this game an error on the part of the developers. It sounds like they did not even turn a profit enough to allow them to expand their team (but maybe I'm misunderstanding). I hope that they do continue with VR development, but instead focus on a much smaller scope game. Deliver a polished, complete package within a smaller scope, implementing a much tighter budget that will allow for potential turning of profit with an appropriately lighter sale price (maybe targeting a $30 game?).
If that is successful, do it again, and again, until they can expand and eventually work toward their dream adventure RPG, hiring actual writers and UI designers and sound designers etc. For me personally, this is simply not the kind of game you can half-bake. It should be attempted again when, and only when, they feel they have budget to do this in a truly full and polished manner.
I had the pleasure of meeting BJ briefly at PAX East. He struck me as friendly, kind, totally genuine, and incredibly passionate as a game developer and a VR game developer in particular.
I do wish this team good luck and despite my own harsh criticism I am glad so many ARE enjoying this game, and also feel the price point is justified. I want devs to earn money, including Urban Wolf Games. And I hope that they will continue to develop and bring more VR to the world.
I hope that my criticism is constructive and useful toward these same goals.

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Decarboxylate Your Cannabis
Decarboxylation is the process of activating the THC in cannabis, making it psychoactive.
- Preheat the oven: to 240°F (115°C).
- Prepare the cannabis: Break down the cannabis into small pieces using your hands or a grinder.
- Spread on a baking sheet: Place the cannabis evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake: in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to ensure even heating. The cannabis should turn a light brown color.
2. Make the Cannabutter
- Melt the butter: In a saucepan, melt 1 cup of butter over low heat.
- Add decarboxylated cannabis: Stir in the decarboxylated cannabis and simmer on low heat for 2-3 hours. Make sure the mixture doesnât boil.
- Strain the mixture: Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain the cannabutter into a clean bowl, removing the plant material. Let it cool.
3. Prepare the Brownie Batter
- Preheat the oven: to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix sugars and butter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and 1 cup of cannabutter. Mix well until creamy.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
- Mix wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined.
- Optional mix-ins: Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if desired.
4. Bake the Brownies
- Prepare the baking pan: Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Pour the batter: Spread the brownie batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake: in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares.
Dosage and Consumption
- Dosage: The potency of your pot brownies depends on the strength of your cannabis and the amount used. Start with a small piece and wait at least 1-2 hours to gauge the effects before consuming more.
- Storage: Store pot brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
Tips for a Perfect Batch
- Consistent Mixing: Ensure all ingredients are well-mixed for even potency.
- Temperature Control: Avoid high temperatures when making cannabutter to prevent degrading the THC.
- Patience: Wait for the brownies to cool completely before cutting to prevent them from crumbling.
Enjoy your homemade pot brownies responsibly and remember to label them clearly to avoid accidental consumption. Happy baking!

2024.05.19 09:29 Secret-Tomatillo5044 I Accepted a Job to Film on the Dark Web pt1
I Accepted a Job to Film on the Dark Web
Man, I am pumped to tell you chronically online content addicts my story. Wait is that too mean of an intro? Will this get taken down for harassment since I painted too accurate a picture of the people on this site? Sorry, everyone, Iâm sure you all smell like an expensive bakery and have touched grass this morning. Anyway, I promise I have something interesting. It even involves the dark web you uncreative writers cream yourselves over! I mean, totally real people speaking about their strangely similar experiences. Okay, fine Iâll stop bullying you through the screen before you click off.
This all started when I was seven years old and my parents were killed in front of me in an anti-indigenous hate crime, but let's be real you donât care. Iâm just some annoying Cherokee kid with dead parents so Iâll skip to the good parts. I spent years in an orphanage, gradually becoming more interested in death and violence. As bad as it is, I went out of my way to expose myself to that content in the hopes of desensitizing myself. Which ended up working too well, since now Iâm obsessed with causing and viewing pain, though I donât find any joy in hurting myself.
I got adopted at twelve and after a few months of staying at my new familyâs home on the reservation, I went with them to a state sweatier than the average Reddit user, California. Long story short, both of my caretakers, whom I referred to as Uncle and Auntie because they could never be my parents, died. Leaving me in the care of their older son, who I call cousin. Iâm not stupid enough to give up any real names, so Iâll call him Brick, cause heâs as dumb as one. He was in his early 20s when he was tasked with taking care of me and is the worldâs worst excuse for a babysitter.
Iâm almost always alone at the apartment, with him only coming by to drop off supplies and stay for a few hours so the neighbors donât get too worried. Unless I get in trouble at school, then heâd suddenly give a shit. It's useful because he doesn't about the gory stuff I look at, but some display of interest would be nice. Oh well, ninety percent of the population sucks so heâs just part of the majority. Now, with that said, youâll be able to understand the perfect storm that led me here. During my time on the deep web, I found a particular website that caught my eye. They had new footage relatively consistently and they were the easiest for me to access since I didn't go too far into the dark web, especially with all the honey pots lying around.
I even bought a couple of files for myself to study and admire. One thing irritated me though, the cameraman. He was always sobbing, breathing, shaking, or some combination of those. It seriously killed the vibe of the killings. Something I commented on under many videos, often saying I would do a better job filming. A choice that in hindsight was me asking to end up in one of those recordings. I didn't think anything of it at the time. I was mostly the only one who commented but I was sure they wouldn't care. I was embarrassingly wrong.
I was staying up like usual, but it was past one AM on a school night, and back then that was a lot so I tried to sleep. Closing my eyes, tossing and turning, the works. I had just started drifting off when I heard the front door open. I remained calm but immediately found it weird since Brick never showed up this late. The thuds of the individual's feet grew louder as they got closer to my bedroom. I tried to convince myself it wasn't a stranger, especially since they got in with ease, but I knew that was wishful thinking.
They hummed as they opened my door. My dumbass had left it unlocked. I remained on my side, trying to look like I was asleep. They turned on the flashlight of their phone, shining it in my face. It was hard but I stayed still while they traced it over my features. I could tell they were smiling as they clicked their tongue.
âHeh, I knew it was a brat,â they whispered to themselves, pulling tangles out of my hair. Something I struggled not to groan from. They pulled up the hair over my ear and got so close spit got on my ear lobe.
âI know youâre awake kid,â they murmured, putting a blade to my neck. I let them grab my shoulder and move me onto my back, I knew how to fight but I wasn't about to take that big a risk with the position they had me in.
âYou think youâre so cool saying you can do better than our guy.â they snickered, kneeling, their flashlight still shining in my face.
âDo you seriously believe that?â they questioned, moving the light away.
âYeah, I do.â I stood my ground, they might have been intimidating but I wasn't gonna let that stop me from being honest.
âI wouldn't sound like Iâm gonna piss myself every time it gets gory. Iâm confident I could get better footage too, getting up close is something Iâve fantasized about.â
They clicked their tongue again and ran their finger over the bridge of my nose.
âWell, I know youâre a big fan of what we do, and youâre confidence makes me think you got something to back those claims up, so howâd you like a deal?â
I was surprised by how civil they were being aside from the touching and weapon against my throat.
âWhat kind of deal?â I asked, for all I knew this guy wanted me to lick their feet or some weird shit like that. They placed a finger underneath my eye, tracing a half moon with their nail.
âYou have till this Friday to film a video of you killing an animal and put it on a flash drive that Iâll pick up here. If it impresses me and the crew weâll hire ya with a handsome salary.â They began, moving their hand down to my cheek.
âBut if you don't show, or it doesn't meet our standards, then Iâm fucking up one of the parts of your face.â They warned, pinching my skin harshly.
âAnd if I say no to this deal?â
They put their hand over my mouth, scratching my lips.
âThatâs cute, if you say no Iâll just slit your throat.â they grinned.
âOr rip it open with my teeth if you got a preference,â they smirked, before running their tongue across their sharp teeth.
âOkay, since I have no choice Iâll go with it, but Iâm telling you now I can give you something way better than what you likely expect of me.â I prefaced, looking into their sunken eyes. They scratched my scalp, including the side of my head that was shaved.
âGood choice, Iâll be back to pick it up and if you're not here Iâll assume you donât have the video. I genuinely wish you luck, because youâll need it.â they removed the blade from my neck and walked away. I sat still for a few minutes in the dark, processing what had happened and wondering how they got into my apartment with such ease. I was confident I could blow their sniveling excuse of a cameraman out of the water, but I was worried about the people I was getting caught up with.
Sure, I had been on a lot of gore sites over the years but I was always just watching and occasionally commenting. Compared to most in the scene I wasn't much of a threat. I could defend myself and have contemplated killing for years but I hadn't murdered anyone or worse. Plus, I am part of way too many targeted groups to not be constantly at risk. Teenage, fem-leaning, two-spirit, indigenous kid with trauma? Yeah, I might as well be walking sign screaming âHate crime meâ.
So yeah, there was a lot to worry about. Regardless, I couldn't let that fear hold me back. I had a job to do and a group of sickos to appease. The next morning was rough, I got no sleep cause Iâd spent all night brainstorming. I barely mustered the energy to change and drank straight mouthwash instead of brushing my teeth. Slogging onto the bus with drool on my cheek, I went to the back like usual. No one sat there cause, the seats were extra worn down, and I scared off anyone who attempted to with my active, rabies-infected bitch face. That day was different though.
I blanked on his name and where I knew him from, but I recognized his wavy hair and prominent curved nose. He glanced at each seat on the bus, before somehow settling on my area. He tried to give me space but ultimately seated himself beside me after realizing it was the only spot that didn't look like it would give him cancer. I glared at him as I did with everyone, but it didn't phase him.
âYou know you could pick anywhere else right?â I murmured. He stared at the floor, then at me.
âIâm aware, but a few months ago I started a mission to sit on every part of this bus, and this is the last place.â he smiled, his lips softly curving at the sides.
âWhatâs the point of that?â
His mouth moved into a more neutral position, but his eyes kept smiling.
âI just thought it would be neat to see the same place from a bunch of different perspectives.â he took out his phone and snapped a photo from the point of view where he was sitting. Maybe my sleepiness made my bitch face less effective, cause he hadn't shown a hint of fear, which kind of annoyed me.
âThatâs cool I guess, but I wouldn't do that if I were you. Iâve done some back here alone that would make your skin crawl.â in hindsight my attempt at unnerving him just made me sound like a pervert, which is probably why he held back laughter. Trying to hide a chuckle by clearing his throat.
âHey, it's not my business what you do, no matter how Haram it is. Itâs your life so thatâs between you and whatever you believe in. Just donât shake hands with me.â he joked, playfully putting his hands up. Strangely, I remembered his name at that moment.
âOh shit, youâre Abdul! We have art together.â I sat up, haphazardly slamming my hand down on my leg.
âUh yeah, Iâve seen some of your paintings, theyâre pretty cool. I like the way you texture them, Iâm trying to work on that.â he complimented, seeming more weirded out by my sudden energy than my accidental insinuation. I felt a little stupid for yelling his name but decided not to dwell on it.
âThanks, youâre stuff is nice, and youâre good at shading.â
He stretched his arms while thanking me. We talked for a few more minutes, taking jabs at each other throughout. Turns out he was better at being an asshole than his artsy charismatic appearance made me think. The thing setting our insults apart being that you could tell he was a loving person underneath. It was the nicest conversation I had with anyone in a while. Though he could tell I was tired so he quieted down, letting me sleep, waking me when we got to school. We went our separate ways until the last two periods we shared. All that time, I spent my remaining energy plotting how I was going to handle the video. What Iâd kill, record with, and how to dispose of the evidence. It was a lot to consider, but through three classes I devised a plan.
Iâd find a stray around my apartment complex and take it out in my room. Record it on a portable camera since I broke the ones on my phone, no, I will not be answering how that happened. Then once I had my footage Iâd put the body in a trash bag, throw it in the complexâs garbage, and clean the blood off my floor. It didn't seem like Brick would come by so he wasn't a factor I thought Iâd have to consider. The plan was almost too easy, but I decided to believe in Occamâs razor. I got so lost in thought that by the time I reached Art, which was my second-to-last period, I didn't process that we were moving seats.
âShe called your name,â Abdul reminded me. Our teacher placed us next to each other at our four-person table. The two girls sitting with us were already friends, so I didn't bother to say anything, but I was interested in talking to him more.
âSo, what do you think of this assignment?â He shrugged, taking out his sketchbook.
âIâm not that good at drawing people, but the idea of combining two peopleâs faces into a portrait seems interesting. Any ideas on who youâll pick?â
âProbably the members of the music duo Brain Tumor, theyâre my favorite artists and they both look weird as hell.â
âWow way to talk about your favorites, if thatâs what you say about them I canât imagine what you have to say about me.â he joked, pulling up reference pictures.
âFirst, itâs not an insult, second I donât have anything to say about you. Brain and Tumor have features and styles that make them stand out. Sure theyâre ugly, but it just adds to their visual charm. Hot people are boring, thereâs nothing to pick at.â I explained, unzipping my bag.
âOh, so youâre saying you think Iâm hot.â
His comment wasnât serious but it kind of got to me.
âShit, thatâs not what I meant, I was trying to say youâre boring. All hot people are boring, but not all boring people are hot, okay?â I explained, flipping to a clean page.
âAlright, but if Iâm so bland then why talk to me?â
I hesitated, contemplating how much of a dick I was gonna be.
âBecause it means you probably need some spice in your life, which I can provide.â
He began sketching a head on his paper.
âI like spices, but I feel like youâre the kind of person to dump a cabinetâs worth onto me.â
I flicked my pencil over to his side of the desk, putting on a mocking grin.
âAww, you scared Iâm gonna get you into trouble?â
He picked up the pencil and started using it, putting his on my side.
âNo, âcause Iâm good at setting boundaries. Iâm more concerned that youâll get annoyed with how unafraid of you I am.â
I stared at him for a moment, I hadn't expected to hear that.
âJeez, man you didn't have to read me like that.â
He shrugged, observing the red paint from past projects that lay on my pencil.
âIt's not hard to figure out, just this morning you were trying to push me away on the bus. Lucky, or unlucky, for you I want you to have a friend and you seem like a fun person.â
âWait are you saying I have no friends?â I squinted at him.
âWell, do you?â
I didn't answer.
âIf your response is silence I suggest you take up my offer.â
I was stunned, to be honest. No one had offered to be my friend since 6th grade, and that didn't last long. Of course, I accepted it, but for the rest of the period, there was an awkwardness in my mind. As pathetic as it sounds I wasn't used to others genuinely enjoying my company like he did. Which was partly by design cause I get joy out of scaring people away, but still. I forgot how it felt to have conversations about normal things like art. He had such a nice smile too, usually when I see a grin I want to slap it off, but I liked his. His voice was also nice, itâs hard to describe what in particular but it was easy on the ears.
Okay, Iâm starting to get off-topic. Iâll skip to the important part. Toward the end of class, he started talking about how he was interested in filmmaking and got a portable video camera as a gift at last yearâs Eid. He didn't have it on him, but he showed me a picture.
âHeh, thatâs funny, I bought the same one a month ago.â I pointed out.
âYeah, it's a popular model, Iâm still getting the hang of it though cause Iâm so used to using my phone.â
âWell, maybe I could bring you over to my place or vice versa after school and I can help you out.â I suggested.
He smiled, putting his phone back in his pocket.
âI thought you said youâve only had it for a month? You know I can always look up tutorials from trained professionals.â he reminded me with a notable smugness that I'd used with him before.
âWell those guys are stuffy and Iâm a fast learner.â
He redirected his attention back to his page, picking his pencil up.
âAlright, I suggest we go somewhere public instead. Youâre not exactly the kind of person I want to bring home to my parents right away. Plus they always need to meet my friends and their guardians before I hang out at their home.â
I gave an exaggerated sigh, stretching my back.
âAw man, looks like we canât get high in my murder pit during our first hangout.â
He didn't respond for a solid few seconds.
âWait, you do know I'm joking right?â
He shrugged, the smile in his eyes appearing again.
âI mean, one of those things is a little less believable than the other.â he snickered, and I laughed with him.
We set up a time and a date, which is where I screwed myself. He ended up being busy with projects from his other classes and family which just left us with Friday, the same day I had to submit the video. Now, did I tell him I wouldn't be able to make it? No, of course not, because I decided to be stupid and even more overconfident. I said that Iâd one hundred percent be able to hang out with him after school like I didn't have a mutilator who was going to drop by my place at an unknown time.
The rest of the day went over fine but that bad timing led me to feel like a dick later. When I got home I was able to write out my plan, even sketching a few specifics of what Iâd do. It was more exciting than when Iâd been brainstorming, but this is when the gravity of the situation began to set in. When I said Iâd fantasized about killings I meant it. I mean my teddy with twenty-five stab wounds should say enough. Regardless this would be the first time real blood was on my hands.
It made me feel powerful, but a little afraid. Iâve heard stories of people thinking that it would be an awesome experience and then feeling like shit. I doubted Iâd be one of those people but still. Plus, I didn't exactly trust the guy who gave me this job. There was a good chance that this whole situation was rigged and theyâd kill me no matter how good the video was. Or worse turn me into the feds and expose my collection. Honestly, if that happened Iâd probably eat a shot to avoid going to jail. Wait, can I say that on this platform? Okay to the mods, that was a joke, I want to live a long life. Ugh, Iâm doing a terrible job of staying on track. The point is there was a lot up in the air despite it being a matter of life or death.
I knew Iâd go through with it but it was still a lot less straightforward than it initially seemed. I wracked my brain to remember where most of the cats stayed and tried to come up with a good way to lure one without raising suspicion. This also proved harder than first thought because I didn't think to account for the cat man, an old guy who lived alone and fed all the cats in our dingy complex while also housing a few. Knowing how obsessive he was heâd probably notice if one of them disappeared. Then again not all the cats return consistently or at all. It makes more sense that heâd think one of them was run over rather than slaughtered. It was getting late again so I rested my head for a moment, a bad move cause I ended up falling asleep at my desk. Not even changing out of the clothes Iâd worn before, I woke up late and barely caught the bus the next morning.
I went to my usual spot but Abdul had already taken it. He patted the area next to it, which heâd covered in a towel, a smart move knowing how nasty it was. People gave me a few dirty looks as normal, which I smiled at. I stretched, my mind slightly less out of it than the previous morning.
âUh, you do realize that-â
âYeah, I know Iâm wearing the same clothes.â
Abdul looked me up and down, his eyes remaining soft, but with a mix of concern and judgment. He set his backpack down and took off his sweater handing it to me.
âDude what are you-â
âLook I don't know what led to you not being able to change but I think you should at least have a fresh top.â
I was surprised he was offering me something to wear but I took it.
âUh, thanks, Iâll change into it later.â
He nodded as I put it in my backpack.
âYou know you didn't have to do that.â I reminded him.
âWell thereâs a lot of stuff I donât have to do, but I do it because I want to, and I wanted to help you out.â
He smiled, his face still warmer than an Arizona summer. I got a strange feeling in my chest at that moment, I still canât tell if it was good or bad.
âWell, thanks, I'll give it back to you tomorrow.â
We talked a little more and he mentioned something that caught my attention.
âHave you heard about all the animals that have been turning up dead?â
My eyes widened with surprise.
âNo, I haven't, when did you hear about that?â
He pulled on his long-sleeve shirt.
âMy sister said her friend who works at a shelter noticed a bunch of animals were getting adopted by people around the same time, and since then gore videos with them have been showing up. She found out through her co-worker who was emailed it by some random creep.â
I covered my mouth and looked away to hide the smile growing on my face. He had just given me the perfect cover-up without knowing. Now if I killed an animal people had an entire violent ring to connect it to instead of me! I stayed quiet for a minute because I could tell heâd likely see through any phony sad sounds I made.
âOh wow, thatâs awful, do you think theyâll ever find out the people behind it?â
He sighed, running his hand through his wavy hair.
âI hope so, for now, all we can do is pray that no more animals get hurt.â
I couldn't contain my grin as he said that so sincerely like animals and people didn't die constantly and that taking down one group would somehow stop the issue.
âIs there some joke I donât get?â he furrowed his brow.
âUh, no, sorry I smile when nervous.â
His gaze softened again, and he didn't press further.
His bringing up the animal killings ended up being the exact push I needed to get my hands dirty. Iâd spent the entire day before planning so it was time to put that plan into action. I stole some cat treats that the cat man had laid out and spread them around my apartment which was on the bottom floor. Waiting for one of them to take the bate outside my window was pretty boring but one of them came after a few minutes. A scraggly brown and black cat with a tuft of fur missing on one side of his head. It's messed up but I felt like a little less of an asshole for taking him in since he looked like he was already struggling. I scooped him up and he didn't attempt to fight back.
âHey there buddyâ I waved, feeding him some more food. His eyes had a lot of crust on them, it was kinda gross but I donât have the right to say with how often I wash my jeans. After a minute or two he let me pet him. I knew making any kind of attachment was bad but I thought it was the right thing to do so heâd fall into a sense of security. I was just about to take him into my room when the door opened.
âHey, Iâm back with groceries!â my shithead cousin announced with two plastic bags in his hands. He looked down to see me with the cat, his eyebrows raising.
âAw come on, you know we canât afford a pet.â
He groaned placing the bags on a table and unloading them.
âI know, but he doesn't look like heâs got a lot of life in him I at least want to help him feel better before he kicks the bucket!â
Brick rolled his eyes, putting the cereal box on top of the fridge
âJeez, did you even think about what diseases he might have? His eyes look puffy what if he has something that can get you sick?â
He had valid concerns which was surprising since heâs usually stupid, but I was still annoyed with him.
âIâm sure heâs fine, Iâll even try to wash him, just please let me hold onto him for a little.â
He folded his arms looking down at us.
âHave you even named him?â
I froze for a second, before using the first thing that came to mind, which ended up being pretty awful knowing my plans.
âCash cow.â I blurted, awkwardly patting his head.
âHonestly thatâs better than what I was expecting. I was sure youâd pick âHellspawn Mcgeeâ or something else corny.â
He meant to make fun of me but honestly, I would have named him that if I had more time.
âUgh, anyway I got those dumb chips you like.â
He then pulled out a bag of the wrong chips.
âDude those are the wrong ones, this is the third time youâve mixed up the flavors.â
He threw them at me, scaring the cat slightly.
âWell, I pay for it so you shouldn't be so picky. Anyway, while I was in line I picked up something you might be into.â
He then tossed me a trashy teen magazine. One of my least favorite sorry excuses for an influencer on the cover.
âThis is a joke, right?â
I couldn't believe my own adopted brother gave such little shit in my interests.
âI don't know, you decided to start being a girl for real this time so I thought the makeup tips on page ten would help you out.â
I scrunched my face at his comment.
âDude Iâve been this way for years, just because I started wearing more makeup and dresses doesn't mean Iâm more of a girl than when I didn't. I know you wonât get the two-spirit thing but come on.â
He shrugged, seeing me done with me even though heâd just shown up.
âYeah well hey Iâm trying. Anyway, just so you know a friend of mine is coming here Friday.â
My heart stopped.
âWait why here? You live elsewhere why canât you assholes go there or their place!â
He slammed his fist on the table.
âWill you shut the fuck up!â
He screamed with a phrase Iâd grown numb to.
âI don't know, to be honest, something about wanting to move into this complex and this being a way to scout it out. Iâm just letting you know now so you donât act like a complete freak.â
âJokes on you Iâll piss in whatever shitty beer you bring just cause you said that!â
I yelled back raising my voice higher than his. He face-palmed before putting the plastic bags in the drawer under the sink.
âWhatever, you and your ketamine-addict-looking cat have fun,â he told me while seating himself on the couch. I picked up the cat and walked into the bathroom to clean it. I closed the door and placed him in the dry tub. Using a small disposable mouthwash cup I got a little bit of water. I hadn't had a pet before so I wasn't sure how to approach the task. I dipped my fingers in the water and carefully pet it while pouring s small bit down his back. Any other cat would fight back but he just made pissed-off noises without doing anything.
I scrapped my old shampoo bottle and kneaded it into his thin fur. His skin was bumpy and dry beneath the hair so scrubbing it was uncomfortable. I made sure to avoid getting soap in its eyes but I did pull away some of the crust on its lids. His pupils were so clouded I was surprised that he could see at all, making me feel even more sure that he would be on its way out with or without me.
After drying him I set him on a beat-up shirt I wore when modifying clothes. He sunk his claws into it a few times, playing with a loose string. I ignored him for the rest of the night, hopping into the shower and changing for bed. His meows woke me up a few times but I tuned it out after a while, reminding myself that he wouldnât be my cat for long.
The next day was Thursday and there wasn't a second that passed by where the weight of the murder Iâd have to commit didn't weigh on me. I seriously shot myself in the foot by taking care of that scruffy, pubic hair pile. I was supposed to be hyped about killing it, after all, Iâd dreamed and seen way worse than what I was going to do. Yet once I got home and started setting up I felt grosser with each step. I decided to record it in my bathroom instead of my bedroom so it would be harder to connect to me. I set down a few fabric scraps and a worn-out beach towel, placing it all inside a tub for easier cleanup later.
âOkay, I guess it's time,â I mumbled to myself. I brought the cat in and placed it down, setting up my camera once it was comfortable. I also wore my most generic clothes in addition to a mask, putting my hair in a bun for sanitation. When I saw the flicker of red showing that the camera was on I felt I was dreaming. I smiled, excited that Iâd get to live out my violent desires. Yet, when I looked down at its pathetic frame and confused expression those urges left me.
I rationalized what I was doing, reminding myself how many animals die all the time and that Iâd been forced into this, but it didn't help much in the end. I wonât get into it but under the pressure of impressing the group Cash Cow didn't go out as fast as I would have liked for a first task. Getting rid of the evidence was especially rough, the textures were pretty nasty, to put it mildly. It was surreal watching the blood go down the tub drain and gradually drip off my hands as I rinsed them. I couldn't conjure a single thought the entire time I cleaned it up.
Whether I was wringing out the clothes or putting the remains in plastic bags, it didn't matter. All I could focus on was the task at hand, with hints of disgust along the way. I ended up finishing at three AM. My hands were wrinkled and shook once I settled. I wonât deny that during the murder I didn't hate it. Slashing into something was fun and it made me feel strong. Still, it wasn't nearly as fulfilling as I expected it to be. Part of it was guilt, but it was mostly disappointment. Iâd built it up for years and it wasn't earth shatteringly good or bad.
Overall, I expected to feel more, but it just left me hollow with an uncomfortable itch. There was no way Iâd ever be able to see the tub the same way, hell I donât think Iâll ever use it again. Luckily I almost always shower anyway so it's not too big of a deal. I watched a few horror game videos, trashed everything, changed and went to bed.
My scalp hurt like a bitch the morning since I kept my hair in that stupid bun. Despite getting less sleep than the past two days I held myself together a bit better in the morning. I brushed my teeth, changed, and had some fried bread before getting on the bus. Regardless I looked like complete shit and struggled to slump into my seat.
âRough night?â Abdul asked
âUh, yeah.â I quietly responded looking to the floor.
He frowned, looking at me with concern.
âYou can talk about it if you're comfortable,â he assured me. I contemplated giving him a thinly veiled metaphor or vague explanation so he'd comfort me but stopped myself before my mouth could run a muck. He wouldn't be able to do much of anything and I donât like opening up.
âUhm, thanks but it's something I have to deal with alone.â
He nodded, respecting my boundaries.
âYou know, I understand if you canât hang out today it seems like you have a lot going on.â
I avoided eye contact with him as he spoke. For once I was feeling hints of guilt toward a person. I wanted to spend time with him, but I knew that I wasn't in the state to do that.
âYeah, I think itâll have to wait, Iâm-â I cut myself off before apologizing. A fact about me that should surprise no one is that I hate apologizing. Even when I do feel kinda bad the act fills me with embarrassment.
âYou what?â he asked, his eyes telling me that he knew what I was going to say.
âIâm emotionally not great.â I spat out in an admittedly poor attempt to get out of saying sorry. As always he remained calm but I could tell he saw through me.
âOkay, like I said I understand, whatever it is I hope you feel better.â
I told him thank you and we didn't speak for the rest of the day. At home I changed into more comfortable clothes and brushed my teeth. Unfortunately, I wasn't bouncing back from killing nearly as much as I expected.
âIt wasn't even that bad! That thing was on its last legs anyway.â I grumbled to myself, smacking my forehead. I was feeling worse than when I did it which is weird. I ended up spontaneously decorating a ratty tie from the bottom of an accessory drawer to distract myself. It helped me get my mind off things, for a little. I had zero plan, just wanting to make something needlessly complex. Hours that felt like minutes passed and soon it was covered in patches, frills, and beads. I just tried it on when I heard the front door open.
âMan, that shit was wild!â I heard Brick laugh groggily. I didn't have to see or smell him to know heâd gotten lit. I rolled my eyes, closing my bedroom door.
âHey, whoâs there?â his friend asked, seemingly referring to me.
âOh, thatâs my little sis, donât mind her sheâs just on her emo shit!â he joked, which pissed me off for the petty reason that I didn't even listen or dress emo.
âHey, thatâs alright with me, I went through one of those phases,â they responded, their words less slurred than my cousinâs.
I fucked up and forgot to lock it when I closed it so they were able to swing it open, almost smacking my desk.
âHey emo girl!â they waved as Brick haphazardly pulled them back.
âOkay, man, seriously I think she wants to be left alone.â
The way his friend looked at me made me uncomfortable. Like theyâd snap my neck if I pissed them off. They clicked their tongue while stepping through the door frame.
âAlright, but I gotta say calling her an emo is inaccurate, they look like they watch gore and most emos just say they do.â they flashed a sharp toothy grin. At that moment I began to connect the dots.
âEasy, sheâll get pissy with you dude, now come on.â Brick warned tugging their opened button pushed him away. They looked me dead in the eyes.
âI donât think she minds, in truth, I feel like weâll have a lot to discuss later.â they smiled again, finally walking back into the living room. A chill ran up my spine when I saw them. The sharp teeth, New York accent, unsettling gaze, that motherfucker was the person who recruited me! They were able to get into my place so easily cause my dumbass cousin probably gave them a spare key or the opportunity to make one, and now they were a room away from me!
I dug my hands into my pillow as I contemplated what to do, no matter what happened next, I knew it was gonna be a rough visit.

As someone who spends a lot of time on the road, this little device has been a lifesaver. The fact that it comes with two separate power cords for home, office, or car use is a godsend. I don't have to worry about searching for a microwave every time I get hungry. One thing I love about this lunch box is its 75W fast heating. With energy-efficient PTC heating components, I never have to worry about overheating my food. Plus, the low-consumption heating cycle keeps my food warm and ready to eat in 20-30 minutes. No more cold, unappetizing meals while I'm driving! Another great thing about the BHeadCat Electric Lunch Box is how easy it is to clean. The food-grade PP material and premium stainless steel make it safe for dishwasher use. The detachable tray is also a nice touch, making it easy to separate different foods. Plus, the included plastic compartment is perfect for storing smaller items like utensils or snacks. The portability and leak-proof design of this lunch box are fantastic. The built-in rubber seal and four snaps keep my food secure and prevent any spills. And the carry handle? I don't know how I ever lived without it. Whether I'm at work, in the car, or just out running errands, I can bring my heated lunch box with me everywhere I go. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my BHeadCat Electric Lunch Box. It's made my life on the road so much easier and more enjoyable. If you're someone who's always on the go and needs a reliable way to keep your food warm, I highly recommend giving this lunch box a try. https://preview.redd.it/4q0pywqoqb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90a02847eb546255647dafb1ef9232dcabf6d387 Once upon a time, I found myself needing to take hot, home-cooked meals to work. I came across the TRAVELISIMO Electric Lunch Box and my life changed for the better. This electric lunchbox heats up your meal in just 20-30 minutes with its powerful 80W power. All you need to do is plug it in, close the lid, and wait for your meal to be hot and ready. One of the things that stood out about this lunchbox was its leak-proof design. The enhanced lid and secure snap-lock system prevent spills, making it a reliable companion for transporting any type of dish, whether liquid or not. I could even carry soup without worrying about it spilling all over my bag. The TRAVELISIMO Electric Lunch Box is also incredibly versatile. With its various voltage settings (12V/24V and 110V), it suits cars, trucks, or office desks. I love how it allows me to enjoy homemade, healthy meals on the road, avoiding fast-food stops with ease. Cleaning the lunch box is a breeze, another feature that I really appreciated. Made with top-tier 304 stainless steel, it ensures food safety and durability while also being dishwasher-friendly. The stainless-steel container is very easy to clean, which is a big plus when it comes to lunchboxes. However, there were a couple of downsides worth mentioning. First, the power cord is a bit short, which can be inconvenient if you're trying to use it in a car or at a desk without an extension cord. Second, the lunch box can take up quite a bit of room in a bag, so it's not the most portable option out there. In conclusion, the TRAVELISIMO Electric Lunch Box is a great choice for anyone looking to take warm, home-cooked meals with them on the go. Its leak-proof design and easy cleaning make it a reliable and convenient choice. While there are some minor drawbacks, overall, this lunchbox has made my life so much easier and my meals healthier and more delicious. https://preview.redd.it/9pq0zh5pqb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e33788ab6df1d287ca61433cfeab14205486d496 I've been using the Axgear Electric Lunch Box for about two weeks now, and I must say I'm quite impressed. Its large capacity has been a lifesaver for my workdays, allowing me to bring a balanced meal in the morning and enjoy it warm later in the day. The removable containers are a game-changer, making it super easy to fill up, clean out, and even reheat my food. However, there is one downside to this lunchbox - the heating time. It can take anywhere from 30 to 50 minutes to warm up my meal, which can be a bit of a wait. But that's the price we pay for safety, as the 40W power ensures that my car remains safe from overheating. All in all, I'm really happy with the Axgear Electric Lunch Box. It's perfect for busy people like me who need a reliable and safe way to enjoy a warm meal on the go, whether I'm at work, running errands, or simply enjoying a picnic in the park. https://preview.redd.it/h3by4rwpqb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6933b798e1bc39d9af7be090e2efcdf205d40ef4 I recently purchased the BEVCEKNS Electric Lunch Box for my daily commute, and I've been pleasantly surprised. Not only is it sleek and stylish, but it's also incredibly efficient at keeping my meals warm throughout the day. The 80W heating function ensures that my food stays hot, even after hours in the car. The highlight of this lunchbox has to be its portability and convenience. I can easily take it with me wherever I go, whether it's to the office or on a camping trip. Plus, with a capacity of 1.8 liters, I can pack enough food for multiple meals. However, one downside I've noticed is that the leak-proof seal isn't as effective as advertised. On a couple of occasions, some liquid has seeped out, but overall it hasn't been a major issue. In conclusion, if you're looking for an electric lunch box that's not only functional but also visually appealing, I highly recommend the BEVCEKNS Electric Lunch Box. It's perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy hot and healthy meals on the go. https://preview.redd.it/pix8oj7qqb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae0c40277a5011d354dc43e76446e361108e7d04 When I first saw the Hotlogic Mini 12V, I knew I had to give it a try. As someone who spends a lot of time on the road, I was tired of eating cold meals and dealing with microwaves. This little device has completely changed my lunch routine. The Hotlogic Mini is incredibly easy to use. All you need to do is place your meal in a container, insert it into the pouch, plug it into your car's 12V outlet, and let it work its magic. You don't even need to monitor it; just go about your business and enjoy your hot meal when you're ready. One thing that stood out for me was the even cooking. I've tried other food warmers before, but they always ended up burning or drying out my food. The Hotlogic Mini ensures your food stays moist and delicious without any extra effort from you. However, there are a few cons to consider. First, the heating time can be a bit slow, especially for frozen meals. It's not a big deal for me since I usually have plenty of time while I'm driving, but if you're in a hurry, this might not be the best choice. Second, the power cord is quite short, which can be inconvenient if your car's 12V outlet is located far away from your seat. I've had to make do with a few extension cords, but it would be nice if the cord was longer. Overall, the Hotlogic Mini 12V has made my long drives much more enjoyable. It's a convenient, portable, and easy-to-use device that keeps my food hot and delicious. While there are some minor drawbacks, I highly recommend giving it a try if you're looking for a way to enjoy warm meals on the go. https://preview.redd.it/e2oe3cmqqb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=018f75baa2cb9e5ab1ae08f74de43b788ed461bf As a busy mom who needs to bring hot meals for my kids, I recently came across the VIGIND VECH Electric Lunch Box. It's become a game-changer in our daily routine! The moment I received it, I noticed how well-constructed and compact it was - perfect for school lunches. One highlight that stood out was its stylish appearance. Its round cover design not only gives it a unique look but also keeps food fresh. I also appreciated the use of PTC heating elements, making it safer and more energy-efficient than other lunchboxes I've tried. However, it does take slightly longer to heat up than advertised. But once it gets going, it keeps the meal warm and fresh without any loss of flavor. So, while there may be a minor inconvenience during the initial heating process, the overall experience with this lunchbox has been excellent. In conclusion, if you're looking for a reliable, stylish, and well-functioning electric lunch box for your kids' school lunches, the VIGIND VECH Electric Lunch Box is definitely worth considering. From its innovative steam device to its dual-function feature for both heating and warm keeping, this little machine has made lunchtime preparations much easier and more enjoyable for me. https://preview.redd.it/z1rpk9xqqb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3913dc7f4b6abc6cf044711c7820699ec7026599 I recently purchased the PremiumPlus Electric Lunch Box, and it has quickly become a game-changer in my daily lunch routine. It's not only a convenient way to heat up my food at the office, but also perfect for when I'm on the road in my truck. One of the standout features of this lunchbox is its rapid heating capability. In just 20-30 minutes, my meals are nice and warm, ready for me to dig in. It's also leak-proof, which means I can confidently toss it into my bag without worrying about any spillage. Not to mention, the lightweight design makes it super easy to carry around, and the three compartments allow me to pack a variety of foods. It's like a mini microwave that keeps my meals tasting fresh and delicious. On the downside, the power cord is a tad short, making it a little difficult to plug in when using it in the car. Additionally, the car adapter could be more durable, as it tends to get a bit hot during use. Overall, the PremiumPlus Electric Lunch Box has been a fantastic addition to my daily life, making heating up meals on-the-go a breeze. While it does have some minor drawbacks, the pros far outweigh the cons, making it a worthwhile investment. https://preview.redd.it/x8snh0drqb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4997d8f7dfd6b2ecbcd801e2a23bb4c7d92eb8b1 As a busy trucker, I always look for solutions to keep my meals warm and fresh while on the road. That's when I came across the Letaaka Electric Lunch Box Food Warmer. This little device has been a game-changer in my daily routine. The 1.5L capacity is perfect for a filling meal, and the real 304-stainless steel inner box ensures quick and even heating of my cold food. One of the standout features of this lunch box is its safety. The outer casing is made of food-grade PP plastic, which is high-temperature resistant, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly. But my favorite aspect of this lunch box is the leak-proofing design. The sealing ring prevents any liquid from spilling in my truck, making it perfect for those bumpy rides. Another perk of this lunch box is the variety of accessories it comes with. From the insulated lunch bag to the stainless steel spoon, fork, and knife, I have everything I need to enjoy a hot and delicious meal on the go. The charging cables for both 110V (home) and 12V/24V (car) make it convenient to use wherever I am. Despite its many pros, the Letaaka Electric Lunch Box Food Warmer does have some areas for improvement. The capacity, while generous, might not be enough for those with huge appetites. Additionally, the charging process can be a bit slow, adding a few extra minutes to my mealtime. Overall, the Letaaka Electric Lunch Box Food Warmer has been a reliable companion on my long drives. Its safety features, leak-proof design, and generous accessory set make it a worthwhile investment for any trucker or office worker looking to enjoy a hot meal on the go. https://preview.redd.it/7ydxojorqb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb8a397965c57b1a62f2a518f97e5ddf4163fbb0 I recently got the opportunity to try out this nifty little gadget - the Electric Lunch Box Food Heater. As someone who needs to eat on the go most days of the week, I can't express how much I've been loving this product. Firstly, it's incredibly easy to use. All I have to do is put my food in the 1.5L container, plug it into my car or office power outlet, and voila! In no time, my food is warm and ready to eat. Another feature that really stood out for me is its leak-proof design. It's kept my car clean and free of spills, even when I've been driving on bumpy roads. However, one thing to keep in mind is that it doesn't actually cook your food; it only reheats it. So, if you're planning to cook your meals at work or in the car, this might not be the best choice for you. Overall, I'd highly recommend the Electric Lunch Box Food Heater if you're someone who's always on the go and needs their meals hot and ready. https://preview.redd.it/0g7n652sqb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d9517093aa5195b223d2e2593100bfa1eb4d9f5 I recently purchased the Car Food Warmer by TALC to keep my meals warm during long workdays. The compact design fits perfectly in my car's cupholder and doesn't require much space. The adjustable/detachable shoulder strap makes it easy to take with me on picnics or road trips. It's been a game-changer for lunchtime convenience! The highlights of this portable oven include its ability to work with various container materials like metal, glass, cardboard, and ceramic. Its automatic temperature control reaches up to 90°C (194°F), ensuring that my food stays nice and warm. The aluminum insulate bag not only keeps my food warm but also maintains a safe thermal condition during transportation. On the downside, the heating plate dimension is relatively smaller than I initially expected, which limits the amount of food I can heat at once. Additionally, the heating plate isn't as durable as I would like it to be - I had to replace it after a few months of regular use. Overall, the Car Food Warmer has made my daily lunch routine more enjoyable, but I wish it had a larger heating surface and a slightly more durable heating plate. https://preview.redd.it/spkio2esqb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=065e30b78291c43be21f265ba348a80a7bce5a34 I've been using the Eocolz Electric Lunch Box for a few weeks now, and it's been a game-changer in my daily routine. This convenient little device has turned my cold lunchbox into a warm and comforting spot for my meals. It's incredibly easy to use - just place your food in the stainless steel compartment, plug it in, and wait a few minutes. It even comes with a car plug, making this perfect for long drives or road trips when you need a hot meal on the go. The highlight of this product is its heating power. I tried it with various foods, including burgers, salmon, and even some soup, and it worked perfectly each time. The best part was that I never had to worry about uneven heating or dry out my food. The capacity of 1.5 liters is more than enough for a filling lunch, but it doesn't take up too much space in my bag. And speaking of space, the additional plastic compartment is a great feature that allows me to keep my side dishes separate from my main dish. There are a few cons though. The lid can be a bit difficult to latch down, requiring some extra effort. Additionally, the power cord is on the shorter side, which may limit where you can use it. Overall, I would highly recommend the Eocolz Electric Lunch Box for anyone looking for a convenient way to enjoy warm meals wherever they are. Whether you're in the office, school, or on the road, this little warmer will make your lunchtime more enjoyable and satisfying. https://preview.redd.it/t7jyc2tsqb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ad0afb408d86f15dff7fcd6f07d7edcb3ceba34 I recently took this portable electric lunch box on a week-long business trip, and I must say, it has been a game changer for me. No more cold, unappealing meals or relying on expensive and unhealthy fast food options. The ability to enjoy a hot, homemade meal anywhere has made my travels so much more enjoyable. The 80W power ensures quick and efficient heating, and the various voltage settings make it suitable for use in cars, trucks, or office desks. The leak-proof design provides peace of mind when transporting saucy or liquid dishes, while the stainless-steel construction ensures durability and easy cleaning. On the downside, it does not have a timer function, which would have been a nice addition for those who prefer to set and forget their meals. Additionally, the lid can be a little difficult to secure at times. However, these minor issues do not outweigh the overall convenience and quality this lunch box provides for people on the go. https://preview.redd.it/dnhdsoetqb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e38b2cd9e4aa77a1aa5c2a9ba3cae1fbda26481 Warm, Balanced Meals On-The-Go" After using the electric lunch box for a week, I can confidently say that it's been an absolute lifesaver. The convenience of being able to heat up my food in my car or at home is invaluable. I'm a busy person, always on the go, but this lunch box has made sure I don't have to compromise on eating a warm, balanced meal. The highlight feature for me is the dual voltage capability. Not only can I heat my food in my car using a 12V power source, but also at home with a 110V power source. It's versatile and perfect for my lifestyle. The removable stainless steel container is another standout feature. Not only does it keep my food warm, but it's also incredibly easy to clean. Plus, the separate power cord and hidden power plug make it safe and convenient to use. However, I'll be honest and say that the heating time could be quicker. It usually takes around 30 to 40 minutes to heat up my meal, which can be a bit long if you're in a hurry. Also, it's not recommended for use in the microwave, which might be a downside for some. In conclusion, this Electric Lunch Box has been a game-changer for me. It's made eating a warm, balanced meal on-the-go incredibly easy, and its unique features make it a must-have for anyone with a busy lifestyle. This will help maintain even temperature and prevent overheating. Another tip is to avoid filling the warmer with excessively wet or greasy foods, as this could cause issues with the heating element or create a mess while driving. Lastly, always allow your warmed-up food to cool down briefly before eatings â hot foods can be difficult to consume safely while on the go, so give yourself enough time to protect yourself from potential burns.
