I regret not ordering six tacos instead of just four. My old self will eat those tacos and want to no matter how stuffed I am. It was obviously emotional eating was a part of my overweightness. What happened? Did my doctor have a metal break and forgot about emotionally overeating? Why was I not given a class in highschool about how the brain works, particular when it comes to procrastination/depression/anxiety, what is actually going on and how to solve it. But I need to learn good structure (or structure at all, lol)
I am getting educated to become a Software Developer and today we talked a lot about Java. Took a look at Interfaces, Feature-Classes, and other neat stuff.
Teacher drew a beautiful UML / Class-Diagram which greatly helped me visualize which objects/scripts/classes need to communicate with each other, how the flow of information is etc...
I _think_ what I am looking for is:
A project/tutorial/video/course that not only walks you through the coding steps (lets start with player movement, lets spawn enemies, now we need projectiles...) but rather talk more conceptually on how to have a neat structure.
That visualizes how it all "falls together" ...
Just as a random example: Game has a player, 3 enemy types, two destructible world objects, two weapons, a score board, that's enough. Now what would help me GRATELY would be a Class-Diagram to really show the structure of it all...
Do we want <> super class for Entities for Player, Enemy, Destructible Objects? Do they share an interface which implements an health-bar-component? If Player hits Enemy with Weapon, do we have a 'standalone' script for the damage calculation, or do we just run it inside the weapons code, or the enemy "on collision" event, ... What inherits from what, what objects "know" of each other, how is the communication between objects ...
I am aware that there is "no single answer" to it. That's why I hope to find material that focuses on what options you have, what to consider to find the best approach for your specific use-case, how a neat and organized approach COULD look like for a small scope game ...

So, lets put things clear before anyone jump to conclusion. I live alone on a landed house (with two cats that roam around the house and outside too), a student with no mode of transportation other than a scooter (live in a pretty remote area). It all started on 7th of May when one of the discord servers I was in got hacked, then I noticed i was added in multiple 18+ discord servers and somehow someone changed my discord profile name and profile photo. On sunday night I used my pc to do a history project and the next day someone tried hacking into all of my accounts and he managed to change some of my passwords but I got all my accounts back except my tik tok account(because he changed the email and the phone number in the app so I cant log in using my personal email and phone number). I found out he was doing this from a S22 Ultra and I saw his location(he was at my friend’s school; so I suppose my friend is involved in this too). He also sent me an email saying that my family is in danger if I dont send him 100 dollars. The emails name which he sent this message to me is “pavlonozbuisness@gmail.com”. I searched pavlonoz on google and I found him on unknown cheats(from this site my friend sent me a gta hack saying its safe but windows defender spotted it as a trojan;I deleted all the folders that had to do with the hack and the notifs from windows defender stopped ) and I also found this guy on reddit(he is in Romania comunity(which means he is romanian as me) and in S22ultra comunity(his phone).In the same day people from the telegram group started to call me again and one of them sent me a photo of the guy that put my name on the telegram group. I wasnt able to contact him on telegram as i needed his phone number. And now he stopped since my parents called my friend’s parents so I suppose my friend and pavlonoz are in the same school or class. For context: we've been dating around 10 months, we started dating when we were 17. It's a long distance relationship that started off casual, mostly just passing time and getting the chance to act like a normal teen. My parents are strict and I'm home schooled with no drivers license at the time so I had no option to be with someone in person until I was an adult. We didn't really click well, he just isn't much of a talker and I like conversation. I agreed to date because I thought he'd get bored and leave before I hit 18, or at most after we met up once, and because he was kind and supportive when I had nobody else.
Halfway through November he ended up fracturing his spine. Then after a week or so disappeared. I was worried, but there were no obituaries remotely close to his description in his state. Honestly after a while I thought maybe he just lied so he could leave without hurting my feelings. So over the one, then two, then three months without hearing from him I thought he was gone. If he did come back I had no real interest in getting back together. I wanted to move on and find someone new.
But to my surprise he did. He explained the wound had gotten a major infection and had to be put in an induced coma. He did give me proof too. So immediately my plans to be tough and just move on were broken. That was February, and now I've been with him through it all, trying to be supportive, being patient through his depression. I guess it made some impact because now he's talking more long term stuff and saying I'm perfect and it means so much that I'm there for him. I just go along because what sort of monster leaves a guy in the hospital.
I do want to be there for him, I want to see him get better, and I care about him. I know even if he's not compatible he's a good guy who I admire, and I'm a bit scared I'll never meet another genuine good man. But I don't want to move two states over when I like it here. TLDR: junior software engineer with no guidance at work, lots of freedom which is great but also struggling due to lack of experience (trial and error approach). Wanting to know how I can support myself so I can become better as a software engineer and well rounded for future opportunities.

I've been working for a few months for a relatively small business in Auckland, primarily as a junior software engineer. I've been working on implementing brand new integration systems which sit in the middle between in house software and a cloud based ERP system. Lots of python, REST API development and general data processing.
I'm in a bit of a unique situation, in that it's essentially just my supervisor and I. They are a sort of jack of all trades IT specialist, and are self taught when it comes to coding. I have a background in software engineering and computer science, but this is my first 'professional' software role, so I'm essentially junior in terms of years of experience.
I have been really enjoying the job, my supervisor comes up with ideas and requests for things they want to have built, and I go away and crack on with coming up with a solution. It's been tough, but good fun. It's been a very 'thrown in the deep end' experience but I feel as though I've learnt a lot since starting at the job, albeit through a lot of trial and error.
My main 'concern' is that it's not a very standard way of building software, so I'm not getting the exposure I would normally get in a larger team with regards to mentorship. We don't do sprints, or any of that sort of thing. There aren't hard deadlines. There isnt really much of anything in the way of how a normal team of engineers would operate in industry. I can discuss ideas and problems with my supervisor but they mostly leave me be to crack on with my coding, they are generally busy fighting other fires.
I'm trying to apply the things I've learnt during my time in University but I feel like I'm missing out on having anyone provide feedback. I'm also missing out on the broader picture. A lot of what I do is just 'okay what tools can I use here, do a bit of googling, okay this sounds reasonable let's flesh that out, okay that works keep adding on etc.', but it feels undirected. I don't know anything about best practice, or industry standards, I just do what I can with the little that I do know.
I'm worried about my growth in becoming a well rounded software engineer, for when I eventually decide to move on.
I guess what I would like to know is, what could I do to help myself broaden my skillset and fill in the gaps where I'm unsupported, so that when I do move on, I'm not in the shit due to a lack of oversight from a more senior engineer.
Furthermore, are there any specific book recommendations that could help round me out? What tech stacks are most common in NZ? Should I continue to dig deeper on my python skills specifically, or should I try to dabble with different technologies so I am more marketable (for when the job economy becomes better in the coming years... hooefully).

The story starts when I was young (17yo) I was studying at university I've been with someone we were deeply in love we broke up a lot when we were toghther but we get back together eventually we've been like this for 5 years. In The last break up I decided to move on, and I did. I met someone who's toxic i ended up the relationship. I met someone else( I will name him Liam )he was extremely good for me he was kind loving respectful I spend with him 3 years( in these 3 years my ex from university was still calling me but I didn't give him a chance )they were good 3 years I was faithful honest I've never kept anything from him he made happy I started seeing him as a blessing, At the end of the 3rd year toghther we started having fights he changed because of some problems at his work he didn't give me attention like he use to be, I spent 6 months telling him if his going to treat like this I'll leave him, he didn't listen we've been always arguing, I was telling him how hurt I was I just wanted him to treat me as he was so we can be happy again, but he didn't I was feeling sad I cried I told him what he needs to do I reminded him how he was with me so he can fix himself but he didn't, Then I did the Terrible thing I cheated on him with a guy just to feel loved feel that I'm wanted I didn't like the guy so I ended up the relationship. after that my ex from university showed up and I did talked to him I thought we are just talking there is nothing serious but eventually we got back together he asked me if I knew someone in these 3 years and I lied I didn't tell him about liam. Liam didn't know about all this because I stopped talking to him since my ex was back, I rejected Liam's calls his socials but I didn't say that it was over I ignored him. I was feeling horrible from that day untill now I didn't expect that I'm capable of cheating I didn't think of it at all, I can't sleep I can't eat well I'm a bad person I'm playing with two guys I didn't tell anyone the truth this is ripping my heart, my ex is sensing that there is something I'm hiding because I started lying to him he wants to know what's going on and I can't tell him he will hate me and he will never show up again so I told him let's have a break I need to clear my head I need to change to a better person to be with him. I haven't talked to Liam because I told him a lie that I have a family problem when the problem is solved I will call him. All I'm thinking of is letting them both go. Can anyone please help me I will appreciate it I really need an advice I started having suicidal thoughts. I can't live with myself, I really want a solution to this situation thank you in advance.

Took a look through previous posts and only saw people asking about parents already/nearly retired and/or ill, but has anyone convinced well, working parents to join them?
My spouse and I are from different countries and have been living in Japan for years. We love Japan and have no desire to "go home" to either country except for family, with whom we're close and spend a considerable amout of our incomes to visit as often as we can.
While my spouse's family are content in their country, mine are miserable in my home country. They spent most of their lives working overseas, and express so much frustration about that country, plus are a bit isolated where they live now and don't have many strong ties. They're so sad about "missing" so many things in the future (grandkids, especially) and naturally worried about who will take care of them as they age, and those things are concerns for me, too.
Given their life experience as expats, I've wondered if moving abroad again to work and then retire would make them happier, but recently my spouse suggested that perhaps just coming to Japan might be good for them. They could both easily find work with their skills and experience (and probably better work than they have now), plus they like the part of Japan where we live. Of course language and culture are a barrier (they appreciate Japanese culture but don't love it), but otherwise I feel like it's a pretty natural solution and the pros of being together, better work opportunities, lower cost of living, etc., far outweigh the cons.
Maybe I'm just looking for affirmation, I don't know, but I'm also legitimately curious if anyone has done this?

It all started on 7th of May when one of the discord servers I was in got hacked, then I noticed i was added in multiple 18+ discord servers and somehow someone changed my discord profile name and profile photo. Then, I left all those servers(including the that I think got hacked) and everything seemed fine. After a couple of minutes people that I dont have in my contacts started calling me asking for dr*gs saying my I gave my number on a telegram group( I have to mention im only in football group to watch live goals and clips) but those people who called me were from the same country as I am so I’m not sure if it has anything to do with that discord server. The next day and for the rest of the week no one called me. On sunday night I used my pc to do a history project and the next day someone tried hacking into all my accounts and he managed to change some of my passwords but I got all my accounts back except my tik tok account(because he changed the email and the phone number in the app so I cant log in using my personal email and phone number). I found out he was doing this from a S22 Ultra and I saw his location(he was at my friend’s school; so I suppose my friend is involved in this too). He also sent me an email saying that my family is in danger if I dont send him 100 dollars. The emails name which he sent this message to me is “pavlonozbuisness@gmail.com”. I searched plavonoz on google and I found him on unknown cheats(from this site my friend sent me a gta hack saying its safe but windows defender spotted it as a trojan;I deleted all the folders that had to do with the hack and the notifs from windows defender stopped ) and I also found this guy on reddit(he is in Romania comunity(which means he is romanian as me) and in S22ultra comunity(his phone).In the same day people from the telegram group started to call me again and one of them sent me a photo of the guy that put my name on the telegram group. I wasnt able to contact him on telegram as i needed his phone number. And now he stopped since my parents called my friend’s parents so I suppose my friend and pavlonoz are in the same school or class. I changed my passwords to all of my accounts but im still scared he can still log in into them. Anyways today Im going to the police maybe they can track him down. Now the only account I cant get back is my tik tok account(i explained upper why) so if there is any solution of getting it back please help me. Or maybe the police will find him and he will log out with his account. What should I do?
